Levels of Skin Burns

While you may not consider skin in the same category as the heart, lungs, kidneys, and other organs, the skin is actually the largest organ of the body. It serves many purposes: protects the internal organs, acts as a barrier against viruses and bacteria, regulates our body temperature, and allows our cells to "breathe." Therefore, when the skin suffers an injury such as a burn, it can cause sever damages.

Your skin can become burned in different ways, not just by exposure to fire. Beside heat and flame, your skin can be injured with corrosive liquids such as chlorine and other chemicals, electricity, ultraviolet rays, steam, hot liquids, radiation, friction, and even wind. Depending on the source of the injury, doctors may choose to treat your burns in different ways. Additionally, one important thing to look at in the treatment and care of burns is the level of the injury.

Skin burns are divided into three different levels: first degree, second degree, and third degree. First degree burns are the most minor, affecting only the outer layer of the skin. They typically cause redness, swelling, and pain. In most cases, sunburn is only a first degree burn. You may experience tenderness and tightness of your skin, and it may seem to radiate heat.

Most first degree burns are treatable at home. If you are burned by a single thing, like a touch of the hot stove, you should run the burn under cool water. You can take aspirin to reduce the pain, and you may want to rub on burn ointment or aloe vera to soothe your skin. Avoid butter and antiseptic creams like Neosporin because they can make your burn worse.

Next, second degree burns are worse than first degree. These burns reach through the first layer of skin and also affect the underlay layer. Like first degree burns, they can cause pain, redness, and swelling, but the other identifying characteristic of second degree burns is that they can blister. In this case, do not peel off deadened skin or break the blister, as bacteria can get in the wound and cause serious infections.

This level of burns may require medical attention. However, there are things that you can do at home to help reduce your pain. Keep your scald in cold water for at least five minutes, then you can use a plastic-wrapped cold compress to cool the skin as well. Do not let cloth adhere to your wound, as it can peel off your skin when removed.

Third degree burns are the worst. They penetrate all layers of the skin, which can turn your skin black or white and cause numbness. These burns can be deadly and require immediate medical attention.

Burns can permanent damage your skin and the undering tissue. If you have been burned due to another person's reckless actions, he or she should be held liable for the negligence. Important Updates Regarding the H1N1 Flu

A presidential advisory panel recently informed that the H1N1 virus, formerly known as swine flu, could cause up to 90,000 deaths in the US this year, which is a substantial increase from the 64,000 individuals who usually die during flu season. The President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology has also reported that the H1N1 flu could infect between 30 and 50 percent of the US population this fall and winter, and the government is urging the American population to take this threat seriously.

While health officials ensure us a vaccine for the H1N1 flu is being tested, one is not likely to become available until mid-October, which leaves us particularly vulnerable as we head into flu season this year. The following tips are recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to reduce your risk of illness and help prevent the spread of H1N1 flu.

Wash hands periodically through the day with soap and water for at least 20 seconds at a time

Alcohol-based hand cleaners can be an effective way to ward off germs as well

Avoid touching your mouth, eyes or nose

Always cough and sneeze into a tissue and then immediately throw the tissue away

Stay at least six feet away from people who are sick, and if you're sick, limit your contact with others

If you become ill, stay home and stay there for at least 24 fever-free hours without the aid of medications

Improve your immune system by eating a balanced diet, getting enough sleep and exercising regularly

Keep updated on the availability of the H1N1 vaccine, and get your seasonal flu vaccination as soon as it's available

H1N1 flu symptoms are much like other flu viruses: fever, cough, sore throat, runny / stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have also reported diarhea and vomiting. It's important to remember that the H1N1 flu is still the flu and panicking will not help anyone. No, you can not catch it from eating pork and no, racing to the nearest emergency room is not necessary. As a matter of fact, a visit to the emergency room could have exposed you to the very germs you should avoid. If you are seriously worried, always call your doctor's office first and listen to their instructions. You should especially call your doctor if your fever is unusually high or has lasted longer than three days, if you're having difficulties breathing or producing fluid, if your fever returns after a few days, or if you've developed dark spots on your hands or mouth.

It is a disease that affects many so instead of hiding or condemning it, do not be accused to consult with a medical specialist.

Myopia Causes… Is it Really the Eye?

I started my last article titled “High Myopia – What Causes Myopia?” with saying that if you are easily offended by the truth, you better stop reading, and it applies for this article even more…

If you can’t face the truth about your myopia causes and what’s really needed to improve your vision, stop right here. If you can handle it, buckle up, you are in for a ride!

The truth is that the cause for myopia is not in your eyes at all. Your eye problem is merely a symptom of the cause. The real cause is psychological. And there are few psychological reasons, which we will cover over a serious of articles.

Today we start with my favorite, with the reason why so many younger people, mid to late teens, early twenties, get myopia. It is the fear of the future.

“What a load of B.S.”, I hear many say, “my optometrist says it has to do with the shape of my lens”, others might be thinking, but before you dismiss anything here, keep an open mind and let’s have a look on how it all belongs together.

Myopia Causes From A Different Perspective

You see, our mind is so strong, that it can literally cause us to black out what we don’t want to see. In our mid to late teens or early twenties we are faced with the question what we want or should do with the rest of our life. But the concept of days in relationship to a life-time can’t be understood as yet, that only comes around by the time we are 40 – 50 years old (see “The Continuum Concept” by Jean Liedloff, p 43). How should we understand what we want to do every day of our life?

So when we are faced with the question what to do for the rest of our life, we get scared, and I mean real scared. But what does that have to do with myopia causes? Great question, hang in there.

How Does THAT Cause Myopia?

Humans in a state of fear get stressed. So stressed that our muscles become tense and tighten up. Now if that happens in our eye muscles, the muscles flatten out the eyeball, extending it like the zoom on a photo lens, and thereby altering the shape of the lens. The shape of the lens becomes stepper because the eyeball is filled with liquid and when it is squashed together, the extension causes a steeper shape of the lens.

Now putting glasses in front of the stressed eyes doesn’t solve the problem because we are still under stress, in a state of fear, and our eye muscles are still tight as. The glasses only help us to see into the distance, the very distance we didn’t want to see in the first place. So, as strong as our mind is, it just tightens the muscles a bit more, squeezes the eyeball further, and viola there is the next level of myopia, and you need new glasses.

This keeps going until you resolve the underlying reasons. Resolving the underlying reasons is much easier than wearing glasses, totally natural, cheap as chips in comparison to a life-time of paying for glasses, and you and your mind can get rid of myopia easily. Glasses on the other hand won’t cut it, they will just increase the tension over time, worsening your eyesight every so often.

The Solution To Myopia Causes

The way to deal with your psychological causes for myopia is to do natural vision correction. That’s it!

Now the fear of the future is only one possible underlying cause for myopia, there are many more myopia causes, but the concept is always the same. Your mind is putting tension on the eye muscles, which extend the eyeball, and therefore alter the shape of the lens.

You can do something about your myopia causes, and you should, because clear vision without glasses is your birth right. You should be enjoying it every day of your life. There is no reason in the world why you shouldn’t.

Psoriasis Can Impact the Erect Penis

Psoriasis is one of the more well-known skin disorders, and it can cause discomfort for many who suffer from it. It also can be something of a penis health concern as, surprisingly, many men with psoriasis also suffer from erect penis issues.

What is psoriasis?

The National Psoriasis Foundation defines psoriasis as “an immune-mediated disease that causes raised, red, scaly patches to appear on the skin.” It most often presents on the knees, elbows or scalp, but it can occur anywhere on the body (including the penis). The rash is often itchy and in some cases it can also sting and crate a burning sensation.

The exact cause of psoriasis is not known, although it appears to have a genetic connection that somehow affects the immune system. People with psoriasis grow skin cells at a much faster rate than is typical, which is what brings about the scaly skin rashes.

Study

A recent article published in JAMA Dermatology looked at 28 previously published studies. Entitled “Association Between Psoriasis and Sexual and Erectile Dysfunction in Epidemiologic Studies,” the article sought to examine evidence for any links between psoriasis and sexual health.

The 28 studies reviewed involved more than 52,000 people with psoriasis. (It also compared them to more than 1,800,000 people without psoriasis, so that they had a large control group.)

After completing the study, the authors determined that men with psoriasis may be up to four times as likely to have erect penis issues than men who do not suffer from psoriasis.

Not the disease itself

The study did not seem to indicate that the disease itself caused the erectile dysfunction; it was more that having the disease created situations in which an erect penis issue was more likely to occur. For example, the study found that many men with psoriasis exhibited signs of increased anxiety and depression, and that it was these factors which were ultimately more responsible for the erectile dysfunction.

In some cases, the presence of psoriasis on the penis and/or balls could also be likely to increase erectile issues. Again, this seems to be less a result of the disease itself and more a result of the feelings that it arouses in the victim.

Because the disease has an impact beyond the visible presence on the skin, the study authors suggest that doctors need to take this into consideration when treating psoriasis. For example, in addition to prescribing medications designed to treat the skin eruption, a doctor may want to try to ascertain if anxiety or depression is being fueled by the disease. If so, they may suggest a visit to a mental health professional or, if they are qualified, suggest strategies for dealing with these emotional issues.

The age of the individual was also seen as a factor; often men experience more erect penis challenges as they approach their older years.

Men with psoriasis who also experience erectile issues should discuss this with their doctors and seek assistance in resolving this issue.

Even with no erect penis issues, psoriasis on the penis can cause discomfort to a man. Maintaining expert penis health may help, so men should regularly apply a top notch penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin). Achieving proper skin moisturization is crucial, so the chosen crème should include both a high end emollient (such as shea butter) and a natural hydrator (such as vitamin E). Additional vitamins, such as C and D, can also help to benefit delicate penis skin. Finally, if the crème also contains alpha lipoic acid, so much the better. This potent antioxidant fights excess free radicals and thereby reins in potential oxidative stress.

Atrophic Vaginitis Symptoms – How To Know If You're Suffering From Atrophic Vaginitis

Just the name of this disorder sounds scary. Atrophic vaginitis. Symptoms of this can be annoying to say the least. If you think you're suffering from this disorder, see if you have the following symptoms. If you do, you may want to consider traditional and alternative treatments.

Atrophic vaginitis is caused by lack of estrogen. This can afflict women in menopause, women are breast-feeding, and women who have lower levels of estrogen due to medication or surgical removal of the ovaries. It usually takes 5 to 7 years to develop. However, you may experience some of these symptoms before it is full-blown.

The symptoms include:

· Vaginal dryness.
· Pain during sexual intercourse.
· Bleeding after intercourse.
· Itching or burning in the vagina.

If you suspect you have it, your doctor will examine your vagina for signs of thinning or redness. If you are diagnosed with vaginal atrophy, you will most likely be starting on a low dose of estrogen therapy. This generally will relieve your symptoms in a few weeks. Many women have also found relief through natural estrogen replacements. These are plant-based forms of estrogen that are approved by the FDA for human consumption.

In the meantime, you should use lubrication during intercourse in order to avoid teething of the delicate tissue. After a few weeks of hormonal treatments, you should see things return to normal.

While atrophic vaginitis symptoms can be scary and annoying, they are easily treated. Use lubricants for short-term relief, and medical or natural estrogen replacement to solve the problem.

Strokes and Emotions Following a Stroke

Emotions and behavior can change following a stroke. Nearly one third of all stroke survivors experience some emotional problems. These problems can result in depression, anger, frustration, feelings of loss and denial. There may be communication disorders which will include aphasia – to do with verbal abilities and auditory comprehension where they are unable to speak or to read, write or comprehend numbers. Or there may be motor speech problems with slurred or garbled speech. All of these difficulties will affect the emotions creating sadness and possibly depression.

Extreme emotions will interfere with the rehabilitation process. Emotions are hard to control, partly because of chemical changes within the brain caused by the stroke. It is also a reaction to the challenges of dealing with the effects of a stroke. There can be rapid mood changes also causing crying or laughing inappropriately, feelings of hopelessness, changes in eating and sleeping, anger, anxiety and apathy.

Anxiety causes sleep disturbances. It may also cause difficulty with concentration. The stroke sufferer may avoid going out in public or even seeing friends. Irritability, another problem, can also cause difficulties with concentration and the stroke sufferer may tire more quickly.

Apathy is a dangerous emotion for a stroke survivor. It is lack of enthusiasm, motivation, listlessness and no interest in anything. For the stroke sufferer, if they have apathy they will likely not work diligently at rehabilitation. This is detrimental to their long-term health or for a positive outcome with the chance of fewer disabilities.

It is important for the stroke impaired to find ways to relax, ie: soak in a warm bath, listen to calm music, meditate or go for a walk. Writing down worries or talking to a friend or family member may also help. However, if it continues for quite a while and all else has failed, it may be necessary for them to see their family doctor. Medication may also be necessary.

Stroke recovery groups are also good for the stroke survivor because often talking about the effects of their stroke with others who are going through the same thing can help. Acknowledging their feelings will help them to deal with their emotions too. It will be important for the stroke-impaired person to be as informed as possible because the more they know, the more they will be able to help themselves.

Emotions following a stroke are often closer to the surface and will increase in intensity relative to the situation, possibly summoning feelings that had not bothered them prior to their stroke. As upsetting as it is for the stroke survivor to experience these chaotic emotions, in almost all cases, these intents feelings will go and ever they will feel more like themselves ..

Problems with emotions following a stroke can result in personality changes. But as the stroke-impaired person begins to feel more like themselves, these changes often will cease to exist.

Does Oregano Oil Really Work?

People who are not familiar with the healing benefits of pure oregano oil are often in disbelief when told about this all natural healing product. That fact is pure oil of oregano has countless healing properties we can’t even begin to imagine. Take for example my good friend Leo, which by the way is not his real name but indeed a real person with all assurance being true. Leo was able to treat his tetanus infection with oregano overnight.

The story starts with Leo working one weekend at his cousin’s carpet installing company. He often worked with his cousin on weekends to earn extra cash. One weekend in particular Leo had been with his cousin in the basement of an old friend, pulling the old carpet to install new flooring.

Unfortunately the carpeting was so old and moldy that the nails holding the carpet strips were rusty and filled with mold as well. As the story goes, Leo, unaware that a piece of nail strip was still attached to the carpet, pulled the carpet and punctured his hand with the rusty nail. Later that night, Leo recanted that he started to feel numbness in his arm and could see his skin turning purple. Surely there was something wrong, he thought to himself. So Leo, not having any insurance and fully aware of the healing properties of oregano, commenced to treat himself by applying a few drops of oil directly on his wound.

As he explains, it was like a shot of fire running through his veins. He later explains that he was able to see his arm turning red with a burning sensation rushing up his arm. It burned like heck, but for sure the oregano oil was at work. The following day Leo’s arm was totally back to normal with the two small punctures being the only sign of a once infected arm.

Leo is indeed an extremist when it comes to his use of herbal products. I don’t recommend trying what he did. However the fact is it worked great for him under extreme circumstance. If you plan on using pure oregano oil, be sure to consider the following very important facts:

  • Know the level of purity and potency of the oil. There are several brands available on the market. You should know that the level of potency is not the same for each. Ask your merchant if the oil contains any binders or fillers.
  • Have a full understanding of the proper dosage to take for your particular ailment, and how to apply or consume each dosage.
  • Understand the specific healing benefits.

Individuals unfamiliar with the healing powers of pure oregano oil often listen to Leo’s story with disbelief, however, the story is true and his experience may help you treat yourself with the powerful healing properties of oil of oregano.

Progressive Retinal Atrophy – PRA – Is Your Dog Predisposed?

Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) is a group of diseases that cause the retina of your dog's eye to degenerate over time. The consequence is declination vision and extremely blindness. Granted, that's not good news However, nature is a amazing! The majority of affected dogs adjust quite nicely to their situation.

Cause:

Both parents must have the PRA gene for their offspring to be affected. If only one parent carries the PVA gene, their offspring will be carriers of the PRA gene. The disease will re-surface, when any of those offspring mate with another PRA carrier.

Progressive Retinal Atrophy is a progressive, degenerative disease, where your dog will gradually lose its sight. It affects the retina, the light sensitive area in the rear of your dog's eye.

Diagnosis:

This disease requires a veterinary ophthalmologist. Your regular veterinarian can refer you to a specialist.

The earliest stages can not be diagnosed through a routine ophthalmic examination. However, there are DNA tests recently available; regrettably not for all high-risk breeds. Speak with your veterinarian; the DNA testing procedure for other breeds is progressing rapidly.

Once the disease has progressed, it can be diagnosed through a thorough ophthalmic examination. In later stages of PRA examining the retina with indirect ophthalmoscopy can help the veterinary ophthalmologist reach their diagnosis.

An electroretinogram (ERG) is an additional test that can be done, once the disease has advanced. It measures the electrical response of the retina to a known amount of targeted light stimulation.

If breeding your high-risk dog is your plan; you may want to have your dog certified. When a board certified veterinary ophthalmologist can not find any abnormalities, the dog can be certified free of heritable eye disease through the Canine Eye Registration Foundation (CERF).

Signs to watch for:

Night blindness – Dog visits going from a lit area into darkness.
Hesitates going down stairs
Hesitates in dark hallways
Hesitates going into dark rooms
Hesitates jumping ie. out of a vehicle … especially at night
Bumps into things
Clumsiness
Gradually dog has problems dimly lit areas
Sometimes dog's daytime vision will deteriorate
Finally, blindness

In some breeds, the first signs of night blindness can appear as early as 6-weeks of age. Complete blindness may result by the age of 1 or 2.

For other breeds, night blindness appears between 2-5 years of age. It progresses to total blindness in approximately one year. At first, peripheral vision is lost.

Prognosis:

At this time, there is no cure for Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). However, since the disease progresses slowly, most dogs do adjust to their disability.

NOTE: Responsible owners spay or neuter their affected pets. Breeding carriers of the PRA gene only perpetuates the disease.

Breeds Predisposed to PRA include, but are not limited to:

Akita
Alaskan Malamute
American Cocker Spaniel

Beating Swine Flu Naturally – Organic Remedies and Protection From the H1N1 Virus

Swine flu has become a buzz-word over the last couple of months as it jumped the borders of the originating country, Mexico, and spread globally like wildfire. Also known as swine influenza virus (SIV), influenza A or by its subtype identifier of H1N1, swine flu refers to any strain of influenza endemic to pigs. Although widespread among pig populations worldwide, the H1N1 strain is not commonly contracted by humans. It can, however, cross species divides and when conditions are favorable lead to the previously experienced pandemic situation.

This is not the first time the H1N1 virus has spread unchecked either. In 1918-1919 an estimated 21 million people died from a swine flu pandemic. Although the influenza virus is virulent, there is much that can be done to protect ones naturally naturally against the virus. Just as in the case of human influenza, contracting swine flu can be checked to a large degree by maintaining high levels of personal hygiene and dietary integrity. All viral infections will find fertile ground in those with compromised immune systems first and in following good basic hygiene practices and ensuring that our diets are geared towards strong, active immune system function can prevent viruses the foot hold they need to thrive and survive.

Good virus busting personal hygiene habits that should make up part of a natural swine flu prevention regimen include regularly washing your hands with a good quality hand sanitizer, using a tissue to cover your nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing and avoiding excessive hand contact with your mouth or nose. These points are of particular importance if you have been in physical contact with fixtures in public facilities, having been working with money or any other items that are exposed to wide public contact. Areas where an outbreak of swine flu has been positively confirmed should naturally be avoided as far as possible. Be particularly cautious of crowed and poorly ventilated locations.

Avoiding exposure to viral infections is not the most effective method of avoiding contracting infections such as swine flu. Our first line of defense should always be the maintenance of a strong, natural immunity. There are many diet and lifestyle standards that can assist our bodies to maintain a vibrant immune system and these should be followed at all times and not just as an attempt to prevent the spread of swine flu. Our modern diets are notoriously deficient in essential nutrients and we need to consciously bias our daily nutritional intake to include foods rich in vitamins, minerals and essential micronutrients. This is made far easier with the widespread availability of nutritional supplements that can be a quick and convenient method of bolstering our immune systems.

If any influenza infection is suspected, a doctor should be consulted immediately. If the infection is positively identified as being due to exposure to the H1N1 virus, specific medical measures will be instituted by your doctor. The symptoms of swine flu are very similar to those of human influenza however, and there are several natural remedies that can relate them. Some old, proven standards are:

Willow bark extracts: A predecessor to aspirin, willow bark contains salicin which is a powerful pain killer and fever buster.

Peppermint: Peppermint sooths coughs and as a mild muscle relaxant helps reduce the cough reflex.

Slippery elm: Contains mucilage which is an effective remedy for sore throats and coughs. Okra also contains mucilage.

Mullein flowers: These can be used in an infusion to make an expectorant and decongestant tea.

Ginger: Ginger is an effective remedy for upset stomachs and nausea.

Echinacea: This is one of the most effective natural remedies for all flu related symptoms. It is also known to shorten the duration of infections.

Watercress: Either dry or fresh, watercress is a good remedy for runny noses and coughs.

Swine flu is certainly not in the same league as the common cold. It is highly contagious and as proven fatal in an alarming number of cases involving individuals with compromised immune system function due to age or pre-exsisting illness. However, it can be invented in many cases by simply following sound common sense practices and a solid immunity boosting diet. As mentioned previously, do not hesitate to seek professional medical advice if you suspect exposure or exhibit any flu like symptoms.

Hormonal Imbalance And Baldness

Usually when we are busy blaming our hair oil and shampoo for hair loss, little do we realize that it may also be due to the hormonal imbalance in our body. Such kind of hormonal imbalance referred to as androgenic alopecia, leads to thinning of hair in the initial stages and aggravates to cause hair loss and baldness subsequently. It is a phenomenon that is not a usual feature. It directly affects the hair follicles causing the hair to grow weak and thinner.

Androgenic alopecia is a result of a hormone called DHT (dihydrotestosterone). It is a highly active form of testosterone, which not only affects hair but has an overall tremendous impact on various aspects like manly behavior, sex drive and aggression. It is a naturally occurring hormone which is associated with sexual development in males. DHT is produced from testosterone in the prostate, various adrenal glands, and the scalp. Recent researchers have led the hair experts to conclude that this is the androgen which is responsible for male pattern baldness. DHT has a very high affinity for the androgen receptor and is estimated to be five to ten times more potent than testosterone.

During androgenic alopecia, DHT fails to recognize the hair follicles and treat them as foreign objects in the body. As a result of auto-immune response, it slowly begins to reject the follicles leading to hair loss. Follicles at the front, top, and upper back of the head in most men start withering out resulting in baldness if remain undetected for long. It is quite possible that it may go unnoticed during its initial stages when you are busy looking for a hair oil or shampoo that can control your hair loss.

As a result of unawareness, an individual does not opt for any type of treatment that can inhibit DHT either through an oral or parental dose or local treatment to the scalp, thus causing the hair follicles to become thinner, shorter, and ultimately stop growing altogether. With time, the action of DHT may cause each hair follicle to deceay and they may gradually die. Some hair follicles may simply shrink to the size they were when you were an infant and produce weaker hairs. This trends to grow finer and thinner hair until they are too fine to survive.

It is important that you consult a hair expert at the earliest to identify the exact cause and find out a cure for hair loss. A qualified hair expert can analyze your hormonal secretions in the body to determine the exact cause and even recommend a baldness cure for you if desired. It's very important to identify the problem and go for the prescribed drugs to control the effect of the hormone at the earliest. This will help you in regaining your healthy hair steadily.

Seeking for Relief From Trigeminal Neuralgia – 4 Things You Need to Know

Trigeminal Neuralgia, also referred to as tic douloureux, is an inflammation of the 5th cranial nerve (the trigeminal nerve). When triggered, the nerve shoots very intense pain in to specific areas of the face, which is supplied by that nerve. These areas include the forehead, scalp, cheeks, gums, chin, lips, nose and eyes.

• Although typical cases are generally found in men and women over the age of 50, Trigeminal Neuralgia can occur at any age, including in children. A triggered attack can happen simply by a gust of wind, brushing your teeth, applying makeup or touching your face. Normally, these attacks are sudden and unexpected, causing an intestinal reaction that can last for several minutes up to several hours.

• Some medications have been found to be effective, including anti-depressants and anti-convulsions. Seeking out qualified and experienced pain doctors, specializing in Trigeminal Neuralgia treatment, is highly advised, when seeking an effective remedy. Surgical intervention may be required when pain medication has not been successful in treating the ailment, but is generally used only as a last resort.

• Sometimes the disease can have a comprehensive effect on relationships in the family, as any normal interactions such as caressing or stroking can trigger an intestinal attack. Because the episodes come on suddenly and unexpectedly, psychological counseling may be appropriate in learning how to cope with the ongoing fear of unbearable attacks. The symptoms of Trigeminal Neuralgia can sometimes be reversed completely, if a qualified diagnosis has been made within the early stages of the disease's progress.

• Of the clinical studies done on effective treatments for this debilitating ailment, results are shown that medication can make a dramatic improvement in minimizing the symptoms in a large percentage of those afflicted. However, some of these prescribed medicines have serious side effects including skin rashes, constant dizziness and damage to nerve tissue. It is always suggested to have serious discussions with your pain physician when dealing with reactions to side effects.

An effective pain management therapy, conducted by specialized experienced doctors can reduce or illuminate intense painful episodes. Finding a qualified pain management physician is the first step in taking control of the attacks caused by Trigeminal Neuralgia.

What Causes Snoring?

Snoring can be a super irritating condition and when you or your partner snores, all you want to do is stop snoring! Snoring can cause sleep disturbances for both the person that snores as well as the person that has to hear the snoring. Thankfully, snoring help exists and there are methods one can implement in an effort to stop snoring.

Shape of your mouth, tonsils and adenoids

Snoring is caused by a number of different sources. Snoring can be caused by the way your mouth is shaped and by the shape of your tonsils and adenoids. For instance, large tonsils can block the passageway of the throat when sleeping and this can produce a snoring sound. The removal of tonsils and adenoids is sometimes required in order for an individual to quit snoring. Just as the shape of your mouth and throat might cause snoring, you will find that issues with the nasal passes might also cause you to breathe with your mouth open at night: a common symptom associated with snoring.

Body weight

Your bodily condition can be a source for snoring too; statistics reveal that people that have weight problems snore more. Sleep Apnea is a condition that causes an individual to have breathing difficulties at night and involves the blockage of airways in the throat: the result is snoring. This condition is sometimes associated with people that are obese, but thin people can also have the condition. This condition can be dangerous because it can minimize restorative sleep and it can have a negative effect on one's heart.

Environment

Sometimes snoring has environmental causes. Over consumption of alcohol or the use of some medication can be responsible for causing snoring too. When the throat muscles and tongue are super relaxed, they can block off the airway and cause snoring. If you have a uvula that is long in the back of the throat, this piece of tissue can also cause you to snore.

Snoring help

For snoring help, some people turn to appliances that can be put in the mouth just before going to sleep. Mouthpieces can help to shift the position of the jaw and tongue, and can help to keep your airway open more. As mentioned earlier, sometimes surgical procedures are required to quit snoring, and there are also laser surgery options available to shorten a long soft palate that might be responsible for snoring problems too. Special machines are further assigned to people with chronic Sleep Apnea to stop snoring: the process is identified as Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Therapy. The individual is given a mask to wear that delivers a rush of air into the air passage to keep the airways open and clear all night long.

Different Kinds of Child Immunizations

Child immunization is an exceptionally effective way to prevent the spread of disease. Neverheless, it is crucial to remember that immunizations do not guarantee that your child will not become infected with the virus. There are many types of virus mutations that are incessantly changing which makes it impossible to immunize against every type of mutation. The following is information on some of the immunizations available. Hepatitis A This vaccine protects against the hepatitis A virus (HAV). Hepatitis A is a severe liver disease. HAV is found in feces and is most commonly transmitted through close contact- eating contaminated food or drinking contaminated water. The hepatitis A vaccine should be given when your child is between 12-24 months.

Hepatitis B- The hepatitis B vaccine protects against the hepatitis B virus (HBV). HBV can cause short-term illnesses such as vomiting and diarrhea and jaundice to chronic illnesses such as liver failure, cancer of the liver and death. HBV is transmitted through blood and body fluids. Children bought to get 3 doses of the hepatitis B vaccine; the first at birth, the second at 2 months and the final dose between 6 and 18 months.

DTaP- DTap is short for diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis. These three diseases are caused by bacteria. Diphtheria is a dangerous and even life threatening throat infection. A thick covering is found in the back of the throat that is capable of causing breathing problems, heart failure and death. Tetanus is bacteria found in dirt. Tetanus causes the muscle to painfully tighten, occasionally causing lockjaw which tightens the jaw muscles not keeping the jaw to open. Pertussis, or whooping cough, is a bacterial illness that causes deathly coughing spells. These coughing spells can be so severe that children can have a difficult time eating, drinking or breathing. Diphtheria and pertussis are transmitted from human to human while tetanus enters the body through wounds. Children should get the DTaP vaccine in five doses given at 2, 4 and 6 months and again between 12-18 months and 4-6 years.

MMR- Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) are viruses that are spread in the air. All three of the diseases are protected against with the MMR vaccine. Measles can cause coughing, runny nose, rashes, fever, and irritation in the eye. This disease may cause pneumonia, seizures, brain damage and death. Mumps causes painful swelling in the salivary glands, fever and headache. Mumps can also cause meningitis, deafness, painful swelling of the testicles or ovaries sometimes resulting in infertility, and death. Rubella, also known as German measles, can cause swollen glands, low-grade fever, joint pain and rash. Miscarriage and serious birth defects can occur if a pregnant woman becomes infected.

MMR vaccinations should be given 2 times: once between 12-15 months and another between 4-6 years.

Varicella- Varicella- more frequently referred to as chickenpox- is a disease that can be spread through the air or through contact with fluid from chickenpox blisters. The varicella vaccine protects against chickenpox. Chickenpox causes fever, rash and itching and may lead to pneumonia, scars, brain damage and death. Chickenpox can be serious in infants and adults and mild in children. The primary dose of the vaccine should be given when children are between 12-15 months and the second at 4-6 years.

Influenza- Influenza vaccine protects against the flu. Fever, chills, sore throat, muscle and headache are some of the symptoms of the flu. For most people, these symptoms only last a few days. The flu has been known to cause high fevers and seizures in children. Children from 6 months to 5 years old are at greater risk of the flu and should therefore be vaccinated every year.
