Significant Benefits of Using Digital Signage for Your Business

Found mostly in fast food outlets, hotels, airports retail outlets, digital signage refers to a type of electronic display that is used to advertise and create awareness of a new business or products among the potential buyers. Displayed through LED and LCD screens, the digital signage offers more content control to the users. The content on these digital displays are uploaded and controlled by different software. The main advantages of electronic displays for a business are described below:

Dynamic content control

Using digital signage you don’t need to stick with your static and old displays. It will enable you to make rapid changes in your content and image conveyed to the audience. You can update the content on digital screen with click of your finger! For example, a food outlet could use digital menu boards to display their changing menu -i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner. This helps you to make your advertising more interactive and engaging to get better results.

Reduce cost to an extent

It is true that the initial expense of setting up electronic displays may be huge than what a print ad would cost, but it will help you to save good potential money over the future. The dynamic content control of digital signage omits the expenses of having to print the content as it updated or becomes available. With this dynamic content control power of digital signage, you can now inform the people about any update of your business conveniently and more quickly.

More audience engagement

In today’s technology driven society people are more accustomed to the multimedia based communication channels like internet. People feel more connected to digital displays than printed ads. With vibrant moving images, animations and graphics these electronic ones can grab the attention of potential buyer more effectively than any other form of advertising.

Web connectivity and convenient accessibility

Digital signage can be connected to web and controlled locally or remotely, allowing the user to save money and time. You can incorporate Twitter feeds, weather forecast, news feeds, video content, and blog post in the display.

Influence buying decisions

An electronic display containing vibrant HD images, videos and graphics can really influence the buying decision of buyers. It has an advantage as people can notice it quickly and remember it for longer period of time than other form of advertising. When it comes to reaching out your targeted audience rapidly, interacting with customers effectively and generating more revenue quickly, the advantage of digital displays is inevitable. Apart from this, you can also use digital display as platform to showcase your work.

Depending on your budget, requirement and space the sign making supplies and manufactures will offer you the best suited digital signage for your business. The sign making companies are the best one to tell you what type of digital signage is perfect for your business- a digital posters or digital menu boards. As it is an investment of lifetime, the professional advice of any reputed sign company is much needed to satisfy all your requirements.

A Persimmon a Day

Could a persimmon a day keep the doctor away? Growing in popularity and fast replacing “the apple a day” theory is the Persimmon with its considerable health benefits and medicinal properties. The Persimmon is a fruit that supports cardiovascular health and is useful for people suffering with disorders such as high blood pressure and hardening of the arteries. Additionally they have been known to improve lung function, reduce internal bleeding, dissolve blood clots and phlegm, and nourish a weakened digestive system. Packed with minerals, nutrients, antioxidants and Vitamins A and C, Persimmons are also a rich source of fiber and potassium. This ancient fruit has been an important part of traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years and today many people use it as a home remedy. They can relieve hiccups, persistent coughs and constipation, hangovers, hemorrhoids and hiccups. Although the peel is not eaten, if applied to the face, Persimmon peel can be used as a beauty aid to brighten the complexion. Symbolically, Persimmons represent eternal life, good fortune and fertility and are often given as gifts to newlyweds.

Categorized as a true berry, this exotic little “fruit of the gods” is a luscious, thirst-quenching tree-grown fruit that varies in shape, size and color, and is revered as a delicacy in many parts of the world. Originally from China, the world’s largest producer, Persimmons are also native to Korea, Brazil and Japan. They are grown around the globe in warmer climates and domestically can be found in various areas of the U.S. with California producing the largest crop.

While there are several varieties of Persimmons, commercially the most common types are the astringent and non-astringent. The heart-shaped “Hachiya” is the best known variety of an astringent persimmon. It contains very high levels of tannins and is extremely bitter if eaten before ripened. The tomato-shaped “Fuyu” is a “non-astringent” Persimmon, and not completely free of tannins but is far less astringent than the Hachiya.

This jewel of the Fall season is available from September to November and best eaten when fully ripened. Soft-ripe Persimmons have an exceptional flavor, and while they are high in carbohydrates and sugar, they are low in calories. Persimmons are enjoyed fresh, cooked, raw and dried. To prepare and eat as a snack, the top is sliced off, the skin is peeled back and the fruit is cut into quarters or eaten whole like an apple; avoiding the seeds and the core. The sweet, rich-tasting flesh ranges from firm to a mushy, plum or date-like consistency. When firm, the texture is much like that of an apple but most prefer mushy because the mushier the Persimmon, the sweeter the taste.

Because of their flavorful versatility, Persimmons can be used in breads and muffins and a variety of desserts such as cookies, cakes, custards, puddings and pies; in punch, smoothies and salads or as a topping on hot and cold cereals. The benefits from Persimmons seem to be endless. Although Persimmons may be tastier and healthier than apples, there is a trade off. They should not be eaten with certain foods, especially crabmeat, or on an empty stomach, particularly those who are sensitive in that area, and excessive consumption can induce Diarrhea. It is always recommended that you brush your teeth after eating Persimmons, as with any fruit containing tannic acid and sugar to avoid damage to the enamel. Everything that is good for you is good in moderation!

Musculo-Skeletal Disorders: The symptoms, Causes and Risk Factors of Osteoarthritis

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) is medical condition mostly caused by work related occupations and working environment, affecting patients’ muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments and nerves and developing over time. A community sample of 73 females and 32 males aged 85 and over underwent a standardised examination at home. Musculoskeletal pain was reported by 57% of those interviewed. A major restriction of joint movement range was frequent in the shoulder but uncommon in other joints. A shoulder disorder was found in 27% of subjects, rheumatoid arthritis in 1% and osteoarthritis (OA) of the hand, hip, and knee in five, seven, and 18% of subjects, respectively. Disability was frequent: a walking distance of < 500 m was found in 60% and ADL dependency in 40% of the group. Factors related to one or both of these disability measures included female gender, hip and knee OA, impaired vision, cognitive impairment and neurological disease(1).

Types of Musculo-Skeletal disorders in elder(2)
1. Osteoarthritis
2. Gout
3. Rheumatoid Arthritis
4. Polymalagia Arthritis
5. Cervical myleopathy and spinal canal stenosis
6. Osteoporosis
7. Low back pain
8. Fibromyalgia

Osteoarthritis
I. Osteoarthritis (OA), a form of arthritis, is defined as a condition of
as a result of aging causes of wear and tear on a joint, affecting over 25 million people in the United States in alone.

II. Symptoms
Symptoms of  osteoarthritis is aching pain, stiffness, or difficulty moving the joint may develop in one or more joints. The pain usually gets worse in change of weather at night and in the advanced of the diseases the pain can occur even at rest.
1. Pain in joints of the hand
Most commonly affected joints of the hand in osteoarthritis include the carpometacarpal joint of the thumb (CMC 1) and the distal (DIP) and proximal (PIP) interphalangeal joints. Ageing, female gender, genotype, heavy work causing pressure on the hands, and injuries predispose to osteoarthritis in the hand. The pain is likely to be due to secondary synovitis caused by molecules released from the joint cartilage(3).

2. Knee and Hip
Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee and hip is among the most frequent and debilitating arthritic conditionsosteoarthritis. Key features of the pathological joint changes in OA include: cartilage destruction by pro-inflammatory cytokines, matrix metalloproteinases and prostaglandins, which promote a catabolic environment; subchondral bone remodelling and resorption; hypertrophic differentiation of chondrocytes; neovascularisation of synovial tissue; and focal calcification of joint cartilage(4).

3. Spine
Vertebral deformity, in particular wedging, of the thoracic spine is not exclusively characteristic for osteoporosis and that certain vertebral deformities develop by mechanisms other than fracture. Osteoporotic fracture of the thoracic spine is characterized by an exaggerated reduction of the midheight to posterior height in addition to reduction of the anterior to posterior height. Osteoarthritis affecting the low back can lead to chronic low back pain (lumbago) and degenerative disc disease (spondylosis).

Other researchers indicated that Postmenopausal women with lumbar spine disc degeneration are characterized by increased CII degradation. The contribution of lumbar spine disc space narrowing (DSN) to type II collagen (CII) degradation was similar to, and independent of, the contribution of radiologic knee OA or clinical hand OA. Lumbar spine disc degeneration in elderly patients should be assessed when analyzing levels of C-terminal crosslinking telopeptide of CII (CTX-II) in studies of knee, hip, and hand OA(5).

III. Causes of Risk Factors
A. Causes
1. Process of wear and repair
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a widespread degenerative disease of skeletal joints and is often associated with senescence in vertebrates. OA commonly results from excessive or abnormal mechanical loading of weight-bearing joints (‘wear-and-tear’), arising from heavy long-term use or specific injuries; yet, in the absence of injury, the aetiology of OA remains obscure(6)
Improper repair process of injure of joints can result of symptoms of Osteoarthritis (OA) in old age, according to TCM.

2. Nutrient deficiency
Poor nutritional conditions experienced by moose (Alces alces) early in life are linked to greater prevalence of OA during senescence as well as reduced life expectancy(7).

3. Cartilage
Cartilage is a flexible connective tissue which cushions the ends of bones in your joints and allows the joints to move smoothly. If the cartilage becomes rough  or wears down due to aging or damage, it can causes pain as a result of  bone in the joint rubbing against another bone.
The above causes of Osteoarthritis (OA) are the result of injure, overuse, Rheumatoid Arthritis, etc.

4. Etc.

B. Risk factors
Aging changes in the musculoskeletal system contribute to the development of OA by making the joint more susceptible to the effects of other OA risk factors that include  abnormal biomechanics, joint injury, genetics, and obesity. Age-related sarcopenia and  increased bone turnover may also contribute to the development of OA(8). Other suggested that Osteoarthritis development in the injured joints is caused by intra-articular pathogenic processes initiated at the time of injury, combined with long-term changes in dynamic joint loading. Variation in outcome is reinforced by additional variables associated with the individual such as age, sex, genetics, obesity, muscle strength, activity, and reinjury(8a).
1. Age and age related sarcopenis
Older adult are at increased risk of developing osteoarthritis as a result of muscular atrophy that occurs due aging. Normal aging in humans is associated with declines in skeletal muscle mass and strength and increased muscle fatigability (sarcopenia). These changes, together with the age-associated decline in whole-body exercise tolerance (VO2max), can substantially reduce the amount and intensity of physical activities performed by elderly (>60 y) men and women (Evans 1995)(9).

2. Gender and race
Women and Male Asian are at higher risk to develop osteoarthritis than men and male Caucasians, accordingly. The total prevalence of knee ROA was 24.3 % (CI 23.4-25.2 %). The whole prevalence in male patients was 24.3 % (CI 23.4-25.2 %); I2 = 59.4 (p = 0.002) and in female patients 32.6 % (CI 31.8-33.4 %); I2 = 49,1 (p < 0.001). Younger male patients (age 50-) had a prevalence of 5.6 (CI 4.5-6.8). In older patients (80+) the male prevalence was 44.5 % (CI 39.6-49.5 %). In this age group female patients had a prevalence of 71.6 % (CI 67.6-75.3 %). The higher prevalence of knee ROA in female patients was significant (OR = 1.8 [1.7-1.9]; I2 = 46.0 [p < 0.001]). The prevalence of knee ROA was higher in male Asians compared with male Asians compared with male Caucasians(OR = 1.1, CI 0.9-1.2; p = 0.080) in tendency. This difference was significant in female patients (OR = 2.2; CI 2.0-2.4; p < 0.001). Furthermore another trend was evaluated. Female patients (70-79 years) from the birth-year cohort 1920- had a prevalence of 37.8 % (CI 35.9-39.7)%. In contrast female patients from the birth-year cohort 1920 had a prevalence of 62.8 % (CI 60.8-64.8 %) at 70-79 years. This difference was significant (OR = 2.8; CI 2.5-3.1; p < 0.001), according to research of Praxisklinik für Unfallchirurgie und Orthopädie(10)

3. Deformation of bone
People who were born with defective joints or cartilage are at increased risk of developing osteoarthritis.

4. Activity
People who involve in activity such as sport are at higher risk to develop osteoarthritis.

5. Obesity
Researchers at the McMaster University in the study of Obesity and knee osteoarthritis showed that the potential mechanisms to link obesity and knee osteoarthritis, as both a biomechanical and metabolic condition are strongly linked. It has been established that weight loss for obese patients with knee osteoarthritis is clinically beneficial, for pain reduction, and for improved function. The exact mechanism linking obesity and osteoarthritis is complex; however, it is our opinion that further evidence supporting the link between the two diseases will be useful in providing clinicians and researchers with targets for physical therapy and pharmacological management of obese patients with knee osteoarthritis(11).

6. Occupations
Certain occupation are associated to the increased risk of osteoarthritis, especially to workers involving repetitive movements that stress on a particular joint. OA is potentially aetiologically linked to occupation in a sizeable segment of the population and that OA can no longer be considered an inevitable disease of ageing(12).

7. Genetics
Genetic studies have identified polymorphisms associated with osteoarthritis and related end-points. These include genes in signaling cascades involved in joint and bone biology, as well as genes in inflammatory pathways and a cluster of five genes in perfect linkage disequilibrium in the 7q22 region(13).

8. Deficiency in DNA repair
In the study of Analysis of osteoarthritis in a mouse model of the progeroid human DNA repair syndrome trichothiodystrophy, suggested that in premature aging TTD mice age-related changes in cartilage were not more severe compared to WT mice, in striking contrast with bone and many other tissues. This segmental aging character may be explained by a difference in vasculature and thereby oxygen load in cartilage and bone(14).

9. Other diseases and conditions may have a higher risk of developing the condition.
a. Gout
Gout is defined as a type of arthritis as a result of uric acid builds up in blood that leads to joint inflammation.  Acute attacks of gout at individual joint sites are associated with the presence of clinically assessed OA. In a study of A total of 4249 completed questionnaires were returned (32%). From 359 attendees, 164 cases of gout were clinically confirmed. A highly significant association existed between the site of acute attacks of gout and the presence of OA (aOR 7.94; 95% CI 6.27, 10.05). Analysis at individual joint sites revealed a significant association at the first metatarsophalangeal joint (aOR 2.06; 95% CI 1.28, 3.30), mid-foot (aOR 2.85; 95% CI 1.34, 6.03), knee (aOR 3.07; 95% CI 1.05, 8.96) and distal interphalangeal joints (aOR 12.67; 95% CI 1.46, 109.91)(15)

b. Rheumatoid arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is defined as a chronic, systemic inflammatory disease that leads to the attack of flexible (synovial) joints, inflammation of the surrounding tissues and many tissues and organs. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) cam cause progression of osteoarthritis in aging population.

c. Paget’s disease of the bone
Paget’s disease of bone is defined as a condition a chronic disorder that can lead to enlarged and misshapen bones resulting in excessive breakdown and formation of bone tissue causing pain, misshapen bones, fractures, and arthritis in the joints near the affected bones(16). Paget’s disease of bone (PDB) is a condition of unknown etiology characterized by excessive and abnormal bone remodeling. It may be localized to one or several skeletal segments. The disease seldom appears before the age of 40 years, but its prevalence tends to double each decade from the age of 50 onwards, reaching about 10% after ninth decade. PDB may virtually affect every bone in the skeleton. Affected bones are involved right away with no new involvement during the evolution. The basic symptom of the disease is bone pain, while complications depend on skeletal sites involved and range from secondary osteoarthritis to malignant degeneration(17).

d. Septic arthritis
Septic arthritis is a condition of  inflammation of a joint as a result of bacterial or fungal infection of that it can lead to osteoarthritis. Others researchers suggest that joint sepsis should be considered if a patient with osteoarthritis develops new symptoms from a single joint with associated systemic features(18).

Erectile Dysfunction and Nutrition – The Top 7 Fruits For Healthy Erections

Did you know that fruit can play a significant role in sexual health? If you are one of the millions of men around the world suffering from Erectile Dysfunction, you might be wondering how nutrition may affect your erections. The truth is that nutrition plays a significant role in sexual health and erectile dysfunction. And any good diet should contain an abundance of fruit. Fruit is an essential source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, and it is often a good source of fibre. Below are the top 7 fruits for optimum sexual health.

1. Bananas. Ripe bananas are a major source of the amino acid tyrosine, and as they mature and get sweeter, their tyrosine component becomes more potent. Tyrosine regulates and stimulates dopamine levels. Bananas are also one of the best sources of potassium, an essential mineral for maintaining normal blood pressure and heart function.

2. Apples. Apples are loaded with antioxidants, which help protect the cardiovascular system from oxygen-related damage. One of these antioxidants, quercitin, has also been shown to trigger dopamine production in the brain. Apples also reduce artery-clogging cholesterol.

3. Strawberries. Strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C. In fact they have more vitamin C than citrus fruit. Strawberry is also a good source of folate, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, vitamin A and vitamin K. They are also en excellent source of potassium and magnesium. Strawberry are an excellent source of anti-oxidants, and are also packed with flavonoids, which keep bad cholesterol from damaging artery walls.

4. Watermelon. Research has shown that this fruit may have similar effects on blood vessels to Viagra. The reason is that watermelon is unusually high in an amino acid known as citrulline, a phytonutrient that helps to relax and open up blood vessels, promoting the flow of blood to the penis. Our bodies use citrulline to make another amino acid, arginine, which is a precursor for nitric oxide, and the nitric oxide assists in blood vessel dilation.

5. Pomegranates. These fruits are rich in antioxidants that can keep bad LDL cholesterol from oxidizing. In addition, pomegranate juice, like aspirin, can help keep blood platelets from clumping together to form unwanted clots. Research has shown that long-term consumption of pomegranate juice may help combat erectile dysfunction.

6. Papaya. Papayas are rich sources of antioxidant nutrients such as carotenes, vitamin C and flavonoids; the B vitamins, folate and pantothenic acid; and the minerals, potassium and magnesium; and fiber. Together, these nutrients promote the health of the cardiovascular system. Papayas are also an excellent source of vitamin C as well as a good source of vitamin E and vitamin A, three very powerful antioxidants. These nutrients help prevent the oxidation of cholesterol. Only when cholesterol becomes oxidized is it able to stick to and build up in blood vessel walls. Papayas are also a good source of fiber, which has been shown to lower high cholesterol levels.

7. Avocados. Avocados have long been considered an aphrodisiac. The name itself comes from the Aztec word ahuacatl, meaning “testicle tree.” Avocados contain oleic acid, a monounsaturated fat that may help to lower cholesterol. Studies have shown that a diet high in avocados can lead to significant decreases in total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, along with an increase in health promoting HDL cholesterol. Avocados are a good source of potassium, a mineral that helps regulate blood pressure, and guards against circulatory diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke. Avocados also contain very high levels of folic acid, which assists in metabolising proteins, thus providing you more energy.

Treatment Without Drugs In Europe

Treatment without drugs by medical doctors in United States is very rarely event. On the contrary, European doctors quite often prescribe non drug treatment to their patients. For example in German is popular herbal medicine, in French – homeopathy and so on. Many European doctors send their patient to the healing mineral spas or sanatoriums. Balneotherapy  – treatment with mineral waters is the medical science that is taught in European medical schools. There are many healing mineral spas all over Europe and every year thousands ill people spend their healthy vacations near to mineral springs.

The most popular drinking healing mineral water is from Karlovy Vary – spa pearl of Europe. The Czech town of Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) has been a famous international healing resort since the 1700s. Europeans call the town’s mineral water the “healing gift from the earth” or the “miracle mineral water.” Visitors throughout Europe and Asia have been traveled to Karlovy Vary for one to six month stays to drink the Karlovy Vary Healing Mineral Water for different chronic conditions.

Many years Karlovy Vary water was carried by barrels and bottles all over the Europe for treatment of rich people. European doctors understood that mineral content is a major healing factor of this water and research was done to manufacture the salt from the evaporated thermal spring water. In 1764, an inexpensive method was discovered that made it possible to distribute the water all over the world for treatment at home. Czech doctors determined that the water manufactured from the genuine Karlovy Vary thermal spring salt had identical healing properties as at the spring.

Karlovy Vary healing mineral water is among the world’s best-studied natural remedies. Hundreds of clinical texts and articles have been published describing the positive effects of the water on both animals and humans. Unfortunately most of them were published in Czech, German, Russian thus there are unknown by American medical establishment.

Mineral water preparing from the Karlovy Vary thermal spring salt has been successful in healing conditions such as chronic hepatitis, fatty liver, metabolic syndrome, early stages of cirrhosis, chronic pancreatitis, esophageal acid reflux, diverticulosis, constipation, Chron’s disease, parasites, etc.

100 years ago, this healing mineral water was the only possible way to treat diabetes, obesity, gout, stomach ulcers, and gallbladder and kidney stones. Today it remains a very important complementary approach for healing these disorders.

Mineral water preparing from the Karlovy Vary Thermal Spring Salt also is a safe natural alkalizer. Drinking this water normalizes the slightly alkaline body’s environment and prevent the chronic metabolic acidosis

Researches have concluded that this water may reduce the development of complication of chronic pancreatitis.

This conclusion was based on several factors:

  • It promotes the production of liquid, easy to eliminate bile by liver.
  • It can decrease the pressure inside the common bile duct and pancreatic duct by restoration of proper function of sphincter Oddi (the valve between bile and pancreatic duct and duodenum).
  • It can decrease congestion in the pancreas, to promote elimination of pancreatic juices.
  • It has anti inflammation and anti microbial properties.
  • It is very beneficial for the friendly intestinal flora.
  • It restores the depletion of life important bicarbonates, minerals and microelements such as magnesium, potassium, selenium, zinc, etc.
  • It can normalize the acid-alkaline balance for better secretion alkaline pancreatic juices.

How to Reduce Blood Pressure – The Importance of Breathing!

How to reduce blood pressure is a topic concerning a large percentage of the population, and I can honestly say that breathing can be of great importance in its treatment. Yes, I know breathing is a pretty important thing to be doing but what I am talking about is the importance of breathing correctly.

I am going to tell you a true story.

I first found out I had high blood pressure in 1974 when I went for a medical. In those days I was smoking and drinking heavily, and had a poor diet so it really was no big surprise.

When I gave up smoking some 20 years ago I may have felt better, but I certainly piled on the weight, which I have never been able to get rid of entirely.

For many years now I have been on medications to control my hypertension, but until recently these have not helped to improve things greatly. Following every visit to the doctors, I have had intentions of exercising more, and losing weight. OK for the first couple of weeks then things get back to normal.

Just over four weeks ago I went to my doctors for my six monthly check up and my blood pressure was higher than ever – 185/90. The doctor said I should increase my medication immediately. Now I do not like taking drugs in the first place and so I convinced my doctor to give me a four weeks reprieve. If I could improve things in this time then the medication would stay as it is.

So I went away, not having any idea of how I was going to get my blood pressure reduced. Of course I could climb on my exercise bike more often, cut out the beer and wine, and attempt to lose a significant amount of weight, but to make a significant improvement in four weeks would take some doing (plus the fact that I love my beer and wine!)

Don’t get me wrong, I strongly believe exercise, diet, and maintaining a reasonable weight are extremely important, not only with regards to blood pressure, but for other health issues as well.

But I decided to do some research and find out if there was some other form of natural treatment for hypertension and I was shocked to find out that slowing down your breathing can greatly help in the control of high blood pressure. This fact was backed up by further research. Apparently slower breathing has a number of effects, one of which is a chemical effect which can have a significant effect on blood pressure. When stressed we tend to breathe quicker and more shallow, and sometimes even hold our breath without being aware of it. This will make our blood more acidic by unbalancing the levels of gases in our system. Following on from this, our kidneys become less efficient at getting rid of sodium, which in turn results in higher blood pressure.

There are, in fact, expensive devices on the market which train you to breathe slower – I’m sure you will have seen at least one of these that retails for about $300.

Basically, the aim is to spend 15 minutes a day of breathing exercises with a target of 6 breaths per minute. I am sure that this can be achieved with no help at all but personally I found a program that helped me not only to breath to this schedule, but also helped with relaxation as well.

Anyway, last week I returned to my doctors who was pleasantly surprised to see that my blood pressure had dropped to 138/78, so no increase in medication. I am actually hoping that if I can keep this up I will be able to reduce my medication.

I have also maintained a stricter exercise program, but I am certain that the breathing exercises have played a major part in this improvement.

For anyone suffering hypertension it’s definitely worth a try.

What are the Best Nasal Polyps Home Remedy and Treatment Options?

Nasal polyps are growths forming in the nasal cavities and can be sore and uncomfortable. They are usually characterized as being in the shape of a grape with jelly like consistency. There has been no definitely cause determined for nasal polyps but they are usually linked to allergies and existing aggravation to allergic reactions.

Anyone can contract nasal polyps yet they are most commonly found in people who has asthma or over the age of forty. People who have allergies can get nasal polyps easily too. Additionally, the health disorder has also been seen a lot in people who are sinus infection and cystic fibrosis prone. However, when the nasal polyps are large they cannot be treated easily and they are more likely to occur again.

They usually block the respiratory passage, which causes breathing difficulties. Therefore, the only long-term solution is going to be surgery. However, a smaller outbreak can be treated with nasal polyps home remedy treatments and medications, including:

  • Nasal Rinse

Nasal rinses are commonly a saline or saltwater solution that aids in removing allergens and irritants that can aid in nasal polyps formation. Usually, saline nasal sprays can be purchased at drug stores while saltwater solutions can be made at home. All you have to do is mix one tbsp of salt with one cup of warm water and stir until the salt has dissolved. You can apply the spray using a spare nasal bottle spray or bulb syringe. Spray the treatment up your nose and lightly breathe in to ensure that the salt water reaches the nasal cavity. It is suggest that you repeat on each nostril multiple times a day to achieve desired results.

Not to mention the fact that since these citrus fruits contain Vitamin C you are boosting your immune system so you are not only getting rid of the polyps but you are fending off other body problems as well. A common ingredient of fruits includes the bioflavonoid which is beneficial for the health of blood vessel and nasal tissue and helps with normalizing issues inside the nose region. Consuming a citrus fruit on a daily basis is certain to help with lessening the nasal polyp situation.

An asthma suffer experiencing nasal polys should it most situations avoid using the medications with aspirin. Medicines with aspirin as an ingredient are likely to aggravate the issues and cause a shortness of breath. Also, outside pollutions (allergens and irritants) are a significant course of this condition so avoiding pollution if at all possible is certain to be highly desirable.

In summary, a fine and small outbreak isn’t likely to cause significant issues and treatable with a nasal polys home remedy. But a more substantial polyp is often seen to lead to rhinitis and this goes on to cause the migraine outbreak. A further side-effect of this condition is loud or increased snoring as a result of facial structure changes.

Male Impotence! The facts!

Male impotence or erectile dysfunction is a sexual dysfunction that is characterized by the individual’s inability to develop or maintain a penile erection for satisfactory intercourse. Male impotence affects 15-30 million American men each year. Erectile dysfunctions becomes more common with age but is not part of the normal aging process. About half of men 65 years of age and three-fourths of men 80 years of age have erectile dysfunction. Usually, erectile dysfunction has a physical cause. However, sometimes this condition can be caused by psychological factors. Currently, erectile dysfunction/impotence has several treatment options, which include psychotherapy, drug therapy, vacuum devices, and surgery. However, male impotence has also been treated naturally for thousands of years with success!

So what is the cause of male impotence?

The Cause of Impotence in Males

First off, to achieve an erection, the penis needs both an adequate inflow of blood and a slowing of blood outflow. Disorders that narrow arteries and decrease blood inflow on the blood vessels can cause erectile dysfunction. Also, abnormalities in the veins of the penis can sometimes drain blood back to the body so rapidly that erections cannot be sustained despite adequate blood flow. However, there are numerous causes of impotence in males which can vary from obesity to depression.

Here is a list of various causes which might be causing you to have an erectile dysfunction:

1. Atherosclerosis: plaque in the arteries caused from bad diet, obesity or genetics.

2. Diabetes: caused by genetics or diet.

3. Neurological damage: damage caused to nerves leading to or from penis.

4. Prostrate surgery: surgery commonly associated with impotence

5. Stroke: having a stroke often is followed with impotence

6. Alcohol or drug use: especially drugs such as antidepressants, sedatives, antihypertensive, and a few more contribute to loss of erection.

7. Hormonal Imbalance: having low levels of testosterone contributes to impotence

8. Illness: a body which is run-down is often an impotent body

9. Stress: a cause of numerous illnesses, including impotence

10. Depression: an illness of the mind can affect the whole body and penis.

11. Obesity: unfit men are the majority of impotent men.

Some Basics About Ovarian Cysts

An ovarian cyst is a sac that contains either a fluid or a fluid and solid mixture. They can grow either in the interior or on the outside surface of the ovary. While cysts can burst, hemorrhage or induce pain requiring surgery, most are harmless and will normally disappear on their own.

There are a large variety of ovarian cyst types and they have a broad range of growth sizes. Most are about the size of a pea but in some rare occasions they may measure over 40 inches in diameter and weigh about 100 pounds. There are a wide range of symptoms for ovarian cysts, from no symptoms to severe pain. Ovarian cysts have a lot of different causes, but most are a product of the ovulation cycle.

Usually, ovarian cysts happen during the reproductive years, but can also occur to post menopausal women. Roughly fifteen percent of all cases of ovarian cysts happen to women after their reproductive years. Post menopausal women are also more likely to have malignant cysts.

Ovarian cysts are usually of a benign type called functional cysts because they happen as a result of the ovulation cycle. There are other types of benign cysts including endometrial cysts, cystadenoma cysts, and dermoid cysts.

Often a person isn’t aware that she has a cyst until it’s discovered during a pelvic exam. Upon discovery of a cyst, a plan of treatment is formulated on the basis of the results of tests. These tests may include ultrasound to determine a cyst’s location, shape and size.

Ultrasound testing will also give information on whether the cyst is liquid, a solid, or a combination of liquid and solid. Hormone testing may be done to detect hormone related problems. A blood test may be used to check for cancerous cysts.

Your doctors diagnosis is the only way to be certain that you have them. Sometimes women with no apparent symptoms discover to their surprise that they have cysts after their checkup. Others find out that they have a completely different disorder even though they have painful abdominal symptoms.

The nature of a cyst as well as its type will decide its proper treatment. A cyst that’s small and painless, probably won’t require treatment. Birth control pills may be prescribed to repress ovarian cysts by stopping ovulation. They can also shrink down the diameter of an existing cyst.

The greatest concern of all with ovarian cysts is whether they’re benign or malignant. Even if benign, ovarian cysts may pose serious health risks if they continue to get larger, or rupture, or proliferate extensively. This is why it’s essential that they are monitored by your doctor on a regular basis.

Overweight and Overlooked

Americans by the millions are going on diets, running, stepping and crunching to
Work off those excess pounds. Unfortunately, there are many young to middle-aged
Adults whose health is being jeopardized by morbid obesity – people who are at
Least 100 pounds overweight or twice their ideal weight. This excess weight often
Limits their ability to succeed and move ahead in both business and social
Situations. They also risk such life-threatening conditions as diabetes,
Cardiovascular disease, hypertension, orthopedic problems, gall bladder disease and
Sleep apnea.

Bariatric Surgery offers new hope

While numerous medical therapeutical approaches to morbid obesity have been
Advocated, including low-calorie diets, drugs, behavioral modification and exercise
Therapy, the majority of patients fail to maintain the reduced body weight. The only
Treatment proven effective in the long-term management of morbid obesity is
Bariatric surgery – such as a gastric bypass or the new gastric banding procedure.

New non-invasive techniques allow for faster, better recovery

Many morbidly obese patients are attributable to under gastric bypass surgery–
Traditionally an open, invasive procedure. But thanks to new, minimally invasive
Surgical techniques, this "last-resort" procedure has become more appealing.
The non-invasive techniques use tiny slits in the abdomen that allow a surgeon to
Insert a camera-equipped scope and surgical instruments to perform surgical
Procedures. These techniques are equally successful and offer many added patient
Benefits. These benefits include less post-operative pain, reduced risk of wound
Infection, a shorter hospital stay, faster recovery and a more rapid improvement in
Quality of life. There are basically two types of laparoscopic surgeries to treat
Extreme weight loss.

Gastric Bypass … proven, effective, but irreversible

The most commonly known, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, involves refashioning the
Stomach into a small pouch and bypassing part of the small intestine. This not only
Limits the absorption of food but also produces a feeling of fullness in less time.
Although Roux-en-Y has been used for years with clinical results attesting to its
Effectiveness, the procedure is irreversible and patients are advised to thoroughly
Discuss its risk factors with their doctors.

Lap-Band Surgery … simpler, reversible with less risk

A newer, less extreme alternative lap-Band surgery, or adjustable gastric
Banding. Approved by the FDA just last year, the procedure involves less risk than
The Roux-en-Y. Instead of bypassing the stomach, a "balloon" is banded around the
Stomach to produce an early feeling of fullness. The balloon-like device is inserted
Through a small incision and inflate it with saline solution to cinch the stomach and
Limit its capacity. The operation takes about 60 minutes and usually requires a one-
Day hospital stay. The band can later be tightened or loosened as needed – without
Further surgery – by adjusting the amount of saline solution through a portal under
The patient's skin. The device can even be removed entirely if necessary. Reduced
Risk, simplicity and reversal make the Lap-Band more attractive to today's
Patients.

How much weight will I lose? How soon?

Results depend on a variety of factors and vary with each patient.
Most gastric bypass patients experience fairly rapid weight loss in the first three to
Six months after surgery. Weight loss slows, but generally lasts up to 12 to 18
Months after surgery, averaging 65 to 75 percent of excess body weight. With the
Lap-Band, weight loss is generally slower and more gradual compared to the gastric
Bypass. Typically, patients lose up to 55 percent of their excess body weight within
18 months following laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding surgery. The normal
Hospital stay for Lap-Band patients is one day with a return to most activities in
Seven days.

Surgery is only the first step

Regardless of procedure, a team approach is recommended for solving a patient's
Weight problem. This includes a comprehensive evaluation and support before and
After surgery for the greatest chance of weight loss success. The operation itself is
Not the whole answer. A multidisciplinary approach – surgeon, internist, dietician
And psychiatrist – is needed to help the patient lose and keep weight off. The goal is
Not only weight loss, but the reversal of serious medical conditions.

Is it covered by my insurance?

Most insurance carriers will cover a laparoscopic gastric bypass if you are eligible
For the procedure. Insurance coverage for laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding is
Variable and will depend on your insurance.

High School Wrestling: What Elite Wrestlers Know and You Don’t

Many wrestlers are focused on learning new moves. We are very move focused in the United States when it comes to wrestling. Wrestling is more than just knowing moves though. Some wrestlers know the seven basic skills of wrestling: stance, motion, level change, penetration, back step, back arch, and lift. But, elite wrestlers know certain concepts that you may not be familiar with. If you’re familiar with all of these concepts that’s great. On the other hand, if you’re wrestling isn’t as successful as you’d like it to be then hopefully you can employ some of the following concepts to become better.

Stance and Stance Maintenance

Stance is one of the seven basic skills of wrestling. It’s probably the first concept you learn in wrestling. What constitutes a good stance? A proper stance allows you freedom of movement as well as the ability to protect yourself from your opponent’s offensive attempts.

You don’t want to be in a stance that is too upright. You don’t want to look like the plastic wrestler you see standing on top of trophies. Your opponent shouldn’t be able to read your shirt. You generally want to wrestle forehead to forehead. Your stance should be fairly low. You want to be like a coiled spring or a sprinter ready to explode into your shot. You generally move forward and backward in a lead leg stance and circle with a square stance.

Olympian John Smith talks about keeping your elbows in your pockets. He’s just saying that generally you want your elbows in tight to protect yourself. Also, you shouldn’t be reaching, lunging, or stumbling. Sometimes you can simply approach your opponent in a good stance and wait for him to reach and make contact first. Or, you can circle and stalk your opponent until you’re head to head and then reach for your opponent. Then, as former NCAA champion Tom Brands might say, you want to lay on heavy hands, get into dominant head position, and move your feet.

Olympian Dan Gable talks about making your body into a block. Your arms aren’t easy to grab because they’re close to you. Your head is tucked into your shoulders so your head isn’t easy to grab.

When moving forward or backward in your stance you should continue to have your lead leg or power leg forward so you’re always ready to shoot when the opportunity presents itself. Good stance maintenance is important. Ideally, your shooting hand should be free and protecting your lead leg.

Hand Fighting and Moving Your Opponent

What is hand fighting? Hand fighting is a bit of a misnomer. It’s kind of a misleading term. You don’t want to go out and just start grabbing hands and wrists and slapping your opponent.

Former NCAA champion Daryl Weber states, “Hand fighting is basically knowing where you want to be, where you have the best opportunity to score, forcing it on your opponent and also knowing how to clear out of your opponent’s ties and going back to where you’re comfortable.”

Unfortunately, a lot of wrestlers get into a collar and elbow tie and just sort of dance with each other. Or, wrestlers grab with their hands but don’t move their feet. You need to move your opponent. You need to push and pull and circle and really commit to it.

Elite wrestlers like Cory Cooperman and Bill Zadick will tell you that your hands and feet should both be moving. When your hands are moving your feet should be moving.

The Purler brothers will tell you that good hand fighting creates motion which helps you unbalance an opponent and set up attacks.

Another benefit of proper hand fighting can be tiring out your opponent. You can wear out his neck, back, and hamstrings. You can really tire him out. A lot of wrestlers just don’t want to work that hard. If you can’t take down your opponent in the first period you may get a takedown in the second or third period by wearing your opponent out with proper hand fighting earlier in the match.

You also need to learn to sprawl properly, downblock, and reshoot.

Angles

When it comes to finding angles Daryl Weber states, “The higher the competition, the tougher the competition gets, the more important this gets. You don’t want to be just shooting straight on your opponents. That does work a lot of times but as you compete against better competition who know how to react, who have strong hips, and have good balance it’s going to be important to know how to find angles.”

Henry Cejudo, Damion Hahn, and several other elite wrestlers have stated that wrestling is all about the angles. For instance, learning to execute a sweep single and really cut the corner is important.

Drilling

Drilling is one of the best ways to improve your wrestling ability. The rehearsing and repetition of moves and techniques is generally not as fun as live wrestling but is extremely important.

When you drill moves over and over your body remembers how to do it so you don’t even have to think about it during a match. Drilling allows you to perfect different moves and techniques. Don’t simply practice one set-up and one finish over and over. Practice several set-ups and finishes. Know how to handle the different positions and situations that may arise during a match.

You can also get in a very good workout with hard drilling. Hard drilling can work as well at getting you into shape as live wrestling. But, drilling has the advantage of being able to really sharpen your skills.

Former NCAA champion Cary Kolat says that drilling is the main building block of elite wrestlers. He says that live wrestling was a small part of his training and that 70% to 80% of his training revolved around drill practices. He says, “I got a better workout from drilling than I ever did from live wrestling.”

Drilling can allow you to find ways of getting out of bad positions which is extremely important.

Former NCAA All-American Jason Nase states “Because your going to get stuck. You’re going to get stuck on shots. You’re going to get buried. It’s going to happen. Not everybody takes great shots all the time. You’re going to have predicaments that you have to wrestle out of. I mean that’s the sport. What do you do when you’re in a bad position? How do you go from good to bad quick? That’s what makes the difference in matches.”

Chain Wrestling

Chain wrestling is just what the name suggests. It’s putting moves together in a chain. It’s the ability to flow or transition seamlessly from one technique or move to the next.

Sometimes we view wrestling in bits and pieces. We think about set-ups, takedowns, defense, riding, and other segments of the match. We shoot for a takedown and get stopped and then get to our feet and begin again. Or, we get the takedown and then we begin thinking about another piece like riding. But, ideally we should flow from one piece of wrestling to the next.

Musical notes and patterns don’t mean much until they are strung together forming a complete and seamless song. Good dancers flow seamlessly from one step to another. They have fluidity and grace. All of the techniques and moves you know shouldn’t just be considered separate chunks. Ideally, each piece of your wrestling should link to the next in a fluid manner.

Former world champion John Smith states, “We put two things together. That’s chain wrestling, that’s flow wrestling. You can take this as far as you want. When you’re talking about chain wrestling it can be never ending until the guy is on his back and you pin him and you get your hand raised. That sequence of moves leads you into dominating your opponent, leads you into never letting up on your opponent. That’s exactly what you want.”

Former NCAA champion Terry Brands states, “It’s endless. That’s what we love about wrestling. We’ve just got to get that mindset that it’s not chunks. That’s not how it works. That why guys have trouble. That’s why guys struggle.”

Brands says that sometimes wrestlers are so fired up to get that first takedown and so unsure of their abilities that it’s just a relief to get that first takedown. So, we let up a little bit. Or, perhaps a wrestler has simply never learned to chain wrestle. He gets a takedown, let’s his opponent get to his base, and then he begins to wrestle again as opposed to going from a takedown right into a ride or pinning combination.

After a takedown, we need to keep the pressure on and extend to reach an arm or maybe we can be looking for a Turk or Navy ride.

Or, perhaps our initial takedown is blocked but we automatically transition to a new offensive move and still end up scoring. Maybe I shoot for a single leg and am stopped but then I immediately hit a peek out and still come around behind to score my two points.

Chain wrestling is important on the bottom too. If my sit-out is stopped maybe I can transition into a stand-up and escape from there.

Leverage and Being Mean

Sometimes leverage is a big key to making a move work well. Run a half nelson or an arm bar straight over the top instead of the traditional way and see what happens. Grab your opponent’s chin on a half nelson to make it really tight. Make your opponent uncomfortable and he’ll move in the direction you want or just give up. Former NCAA champion Wade Schalles pinned numerous opponents during his career and knows a lot about leverage and making opponents uncomfortable.

Former NCAA champion Zack Esposito describes the top position and states, “You know what? Wrestling’s not a tickling contest. It hurts like a mother when a guy gets two legs in on you. So why not let’s crank on his shoulders a little bit.”

He also states, “Because that’s what top is. It’s frickin’ mean. You’re mean on top. Because if you’re not mean on top, you’re not gonna be able to ride. The best riders were the meanest ones.”

He continues by stating, “When I get a wrist, I’m gonna try and break your shoulder off. That’s just how it is.”

You can learn a lot from Wade Schalles, Gene Mills, Zack Espositio, Ben Askren and other elite wrestlers about leverage and using legal discomfort to turn an opponent.

Conclusion

These are just a few examples of the knowledge elite wrestlers have that you may not. Hopefully you’re doing a lot of these things already. If not, then start incorportating these concepts into your wrestling and you’ll see a lot of improvement.

Some Important Information About Natural Eczema Treatments

Eczema is a skin disease which symptoms include dry, red, flaky and often itchy or painful rashes, commonly on the arms, neck and face. Sometimes confused with normal dry skin, these patches do not respond to conventional treatments for dry skin. Although there are many products available to the sufferer most offer only limited relief and some contain harsh chemicals which could prove damaging to the very skin it is supposedly to heal. There are all natural eczema treatments which may prove effective without the risk that synthetic chemicals pose.

One treatment that has shown success in both treating active eczema and preventing the outbreak of new rashes is the consumption of probiotics. Studied mostly in infants and young children, it seems that the addition of probiotics to the diet successfully treated the symptoms of eczema. Probiotics also offer a host of other health benefits to those who eat them.

Most often, the methods of combating these rashes are designed to be used topically, that is to be directly on the patches themselves. Almost all of them have some hydrocortisone in them as this is effective at decreasing itching and inflammation. However, most also have a host of other chemicals in them that may prove to exasperate the very symptoms the user is trying to relate. Happily, there are all natural options.

One such treatment is made from chamomile. Although the response was not rapid, with most users having to apply it for two weeks before seeing significant results, over time it did appear to reduce the severity and number of rashes. When compared with a hydrocortisone cream the chamomile extract proved to be more effective over time for some users.

Another option for sufferers may be witch hazel. Although it has not been as widely tested it has shown some success for users. More testing is needed to determine effective dose.

Licorice root is a third option for those who are looking to treat their rashes without using chemicals. It had very promising results in studies with users reporting significant reduction of the redness, swelling and itch of their eczema patches.

Before starting a new treatment program for eczema or any other ailment it is important to talk with a doctor or other health care professional about your options. Many of the products on the market are a waste of money as they have not been proven to do what they claim to do. Always read the packaging and know what it is any product you intend to use in or on your body.

Bird Control – It's Not Just For the Birds

Bird control is for home and boat owners, property and city managers, architects, churches, sports fans at ballparks, the list goes on and on. Basically it's to keep our structures and statues clean and sanitary by safely discouraging our fine-feathered friends from landing, pooping and nesting on our prized possessions, including our food. While birds destroy many worms and insects that infest orchards, blackbirds and starlings will attack apple orchards and peck holes in apples just as they begin to ripen. So even here, bird control is essential.

More importantly, bird control can save lives. The FAA says that birds are attracted to airports with disastrous results. A tragic example is US Airways flight 1549, which was forced to make an emergency landing in the Hudson River after a flock of geese flew into its engines. Between1976 and 2007, there were 76,000 reports of accidents with birds and aircraft, and of those, 11 people died.

So when it's pigeons, sparrows, seagulls, starlings, crows or geese, bird pests can cause all sorts of problems. Not the least of which is the high concentration of uric acid found in bird droppings. It can discolor paint, stain wood, erode metal, even crumble concrete and expensive stonework. And do not forget the health risk of bacteria, fungi and parasites that live and grow in bird droppings, which can carry and transmit any of 60 known diseases. The fleas, mites and ticks that attach them to birds can also carry disease. All told, the costs to cleanup and repair what pest birds do run into the millions of dollars annually.

One especially effective bird control device is the bird spike. Ideal for keeping pest birds from landing on rooftops, awnings, gutters and girders. Some spikes are made of rigid UV-resistant unbreakable polycarbonate. Others have flexible stainless steel spikes. They come in a variety of widths and colors, are easy to install and will not harm birds. Be sure to install a sufficient amount of spikes to cover an entire ledge to keep birds from sneaking around them. And close off corners and all open sides of a ledge.

Bird control netting is another highly effective bird control solution. Ideal for courtyards, patio covers, and rooftops. Properly installed, pigeon netting presents an impenetrable barrier against these pest birds. If you want to keep birds away from fruit trees, crops, vineyards, you'll need agricultural netting. For buildings and other structures, try heavy-duty bird netting. It's most often prescribed by architects. Its ISO 1806 mesh test polyethylene fabric is UV stabilized, flame resistant and rot and waterproof. The sub-zero stable, non-conductive webbing comes in 3/4 ", 1-1 / 8" and 2 "mesh sizes to control a variety of birds. Be sure to place the netting over window recesses, balances or even whole rooftops To prevent birds from reaching nesting areas.

Another simple, but effective bird control measure is the bird slope. These slippery PVC panels are ideal for ledges, eaves, beams and other 90-degree areas where birds tend to nest and roost. The steep angles that present will not allow birds to get a grip, causing them to simply slide off and move on. Bird slope panels come in a variety of colors to match any structure's décor. They can be easily glued to any surface or screwed to wood. Be sure to use UV stabilized polycarbonate panels that can be painted to match the structure.

Other bird control products used by many building managers include electric-track bird repellers. These present birds with a harmless, but irritating mild electric shock that discourages them from landing. Once shocked, birds alter their habits to nest or feed on that particular building. Ideal for use on ledges, rooftops, and flat or curved surfaces like signs. Building and restaurant owners often prefer this method of bird control because its low-profile electrified track conforms to any architectural configuration. And because it's almost invisible close-up or to those looking up from below. Choose a flow-through design to prevent water from damming up on rooftops and other surfaces. These systems use copper knitted wire mesh that's stronger than steel, resistant to corrosion and highly resistant to alkali and acidic environments. The knitted design features a single strand of higher gauge wire and a tube-inside-a-tube design for greater conductivity, strength and reliability.

One novel bird control device is a Solar Powered bird repeller. Its arms rotate at 30 RPM and gently sweep birds away. Ideal for pigeons, seagulls and larger birds, the repeller can be used on signs, billboards, parapet walls, roofs, or any flat surface, including outdoor eating areas. They are also a number of sonic bird repellers available for a wide range of outdoor applications.

For bird control on a budget, there are an almost infinite number of "bird scare" products currently on the market. They discourage birds from landing on trees, overhangs, gazebos, patios, eaves, pool areas, and other areas. They include iridescent reflective foil or flash tape and inflatable balloons imprinted with lifelike reflective predator eyes and markings.
