Green Tea's Protection Against Diabetes

In recent years, we've seen lots of attention focused on the health benefits of drinking green tea. Much of the research has centered on green tea's ability to prevent, and possibly even treat, cancer. But, there are other serious health concerns that may be positively affected by adding green tea to your diet. One of the most important is Type II diabetes.

Over 20 million people in the US have Type II diabetes, and nearly one third of them do not even know it. And, another 54 million are pre-diabetic, meaning their blood glucose levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be classified as diabetic. This means that Type II diabetes is one of the most common health concerns in the US today. Our climbing rate of obesity has significantly contributed to the soaring diabetes rate.

Diabetes results when the body either does not produce enough insulin, or does not use it properly. Insulin is the hormone that converts sugar and other food into energy. When insulin is not used properly, as is the case with Type II diabetes, an over abundance of glucose is left in the body. This is dangerous, and, over time can cause complications such as kidney problems, blindness, heart disease, stroke, nerve damage, foot problems and skin problems.

Other forms of diabetes include Type I diabetes and gestational diabetes. Type I diabetes results from the body's inability to produce an adequate amount of insulin, and is typically diagnosed during childhood. Gestational diabetes occurs when pregnancy causes the body to use insulin improperly. With proper diet, and sometimes medication, gestational diabetes can usually be controlled, and typically disappears once the pregnancy is over.

While we do not fully understand what causes Type II diabetes, we do know that people who are overweight are at greater risk for developing the disease. Exercise and weight maintenance are critical to preventing this disease. Type II diabetes also offers to run in families; So if you have a family history of diabetes, it's even more important to keep your weight in check and get regular exercise.

If you're overweight, or if your blood glucose levels are already high, there is a lot you can do to help lower your blood sugar levels and prevent your condition from developing into full blown diabetes. In addition to getting regular exercise, you should pay close attention to not only how much you eat, but what kinds of foods, as well.

Avoid processed sugar and white flour – both of these are difficult for the body to process into energy, and often leave blood glucose levels higher than they should be. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, along with lean protein. Avoid processed foods, as these tend to be high in corn syrup, white flour and other sugars.
And, this is where green tea comes in. Several studies have shown that drinking green tea helps keep your blood glucose levels stable, avoiding excess highs or lows.

One study, reported by the UK Council on Tea, showed that people who consume green tea regularly are at a lower risk of developing Type II diabetes than those who do not. In this study, over 17,000 participants were evaluated. The participants had no history of Type II diabetes, heart disease or cancer at the beginning of the study. The participants included both men and women, between the ages of 40 and 65.

The patients' lifestyles were evaluated at the beginning of the study, and then again in 5 years. At the five year follow up, the study concluded that the participants who were tea or coffee drinkers were less likely to have developed Type II diabetes during the five year period. The participants who drank 3 or more cups of tea a day showed a more significant lowering of the chances of contracting diabetes.

This news is extremely positive for those who are looking for ways to reduce their chances of contracting diabetes. It sees there's an additional tool in our arsenal for protecting ourselves against diabetes. Green tea, along with coffee and black tea, can not insist on its own that you do not contract diabetes, but they do seem to be a simple habit that has a significant effect.

Tea may also be an effective adjunct therapy for those who already have diabetes. When used along with diet and exercise, you may find that green tea stabilizes your insulin levels enough to lower your dosage of medication. In addition, for those patients managing diabetes without medication may find it easier to do so by adding green tea to their diet. Of course, you should always consult your doctor before adding any alternative therapies to your routine.

Another benefit of drinking green tea to help control diabetes as opposed to black tea or coffee is that it looks that green tea can help you in managing your weight, which is key to preventing diabetes. Green tea appears to have a thermogenic effect on our bodies, speeding up our metabolism and helping us to burn fat. So, in addition to helping keep insulin levels stable, you may find it easier to keep your weight under control with green tea as part of your diet.

As time goes on, we're finding more and more healthy benefits of drinking green tea. It appears to have significant potential in preventing cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer's disease, and even rheumatoid arthritis. And, now, we believe that it can help prevent diabetes, too.

You should have no worries about adding green tea to your diet. It does not have any known side effects, and poses no potential health threats. And, while green tea does contain caffeine, it contains significantly less than coffee or even black tea. And, the caffeine in green tea does not seem to accelerate the heart rate the way caffeine in other beverages can. For these reasons, many people who are caffeine-sensitive seem to tolerate green tea quite well.

So, brew yourself a cup of tea. There seems to be no reason not to drink green tea, and many, many reasons why drinking it might be the healthiest thing you do all day!

Health Benefits of Coconut Cream

Isn’t coconut cream the culprit that causes weight gain and triggers heart disease? In fact, coconut cream benefits your health more than what you’ve heard and learned for the past decades. So how does coconut cream promote health?

Essentially, coconut cream benefits you with its medium-chain fatty acid (MCFA) structure and its lauric acid content. Let’s first look at how its MCFA structure provides health benefits for you.

On surface, coconut cream’s saturated fat seems like the same as those in animal sources, but actually they’re totally different. Animal-based saturated fat composes of fat molecules connected in long-chain pattern. This makes it difficult for your body to metabolize it for energy use. Hence, it gets stored in your fat stores most of the time, which explains why those who eat lots of fatty meat (from fast food) tend to grow fat easily.

On the contrary, coconut cream’s medium-chain saturated fat gets converted into energy the moment your body absorbs it. In other words, your body converts the fat just like it does for carbohydrate. That makes coconut cream a good energy provider and booster for your bodily needs.

Next, lauric acid in coconut cream benefits your health just as the lauric acid in human breast milk does for infants. It helps to improve your immune system and protects you against intrusive viruses and bacteria, including hepatitis C, herpes and even HIV!

On top of that, its anti-carcinogenic and anti-pathogenic properties helps to prevent cancer. So, by eating a good amount of coconut cream, you become very well protected. By good amount, I mean you take it in moderation. Eating too much of it may make you ingest too much calories for your body needs. And when excess calories not used for energy, they’ll ultimately get stored in your fat cells.

So how do you eat coconut cream to reap the most health benefits? That depends on what you want to achieve with your food palate. For example, when drinking coffee, instead of adding creamer or condensed milk, you can choose to use coconut cream instead. When baking cake, coconut cream can give you a good creamy texture. How about adding it in your curry to make the gravy thick and silky? You can even cook your rice with coconut cream to give a subtle yet irresistible scent of coconut fragrance that no other natural food can match.

Let your creative juices flow, but do keep in mind that moderation is the key to gaining maximum health benefits with coconut cream.

How to Cure Impotence and Reclaim Your Sex Life

I really took some time into thinking whether I should write this article or not. I realize its really putting myself out there, and this is something I've never been comfortable talking about. And what guy would be?

Sexual impotence is by far the most embarrassing condition any guy could have. Nothing gives a guy more anxiety, stress, and even depression then not being able to connect with their mate sexually because "it does not work".

But I decided to bite the bullet and put myself out there, because this is something that I suffered with for years, and was able to find a way to cure it forever. I know this is a major problem for millions of men; Most are too shy to talk about it.

That's okay, so was I.

I could never ask my friends back in the day for advice on this, because they're probably just make jokes. So I just kept quiet and deal with it until I found a way to fix it, because it is by no means a permanent condition.

If by coming out and sharing this experience can help someone, then I have an obligation to do it.

What is Sexual Impotence?

Sexual impotence is when a guy can not achieve and / or sustain an erection. It's also when a guy can not have sex for more than 5 seconds without having an orgasm.

Embarrassing right?

Of course it is, but this is a problem for literally millions of men. You're not alone, so unless you have some serious issues down there, be relieved that the cure is not too complicated. Most of the time it can be fixed with just a few simple changes in your lifestyle.

What Causes Sexual Impotence?

First off, I am not a doctor, so I can not give any expert medical advice. I'm just a regular everyday guy. However, I can relate to anyone who's going through this, and can share how I overcame it. I never went to any doctor, this was something I had to find myself.

There are two types of sexual impotence. Physical and psychological.

Physical

The physical aspect is usually caused by:

• Being Overweight
• Smoking (Tobacco or Marijuana)
• Poor Diet
• Poor Exercise
• Alcohol

All of these impair the bodies ability to sustain sexual intervention. Sex requires a lot of physical energy and takes a toll on the body. If you're not taking care of it, its abilities to do things like sexual intercourse is very limited.

For me, it was marijuana and alcohol. I had to give both of those up before the problem could be solved forever.

And you know what? I am so much happier without those. Years ago I used to think those substances enhanced my sexual experience and made it more fun. I could not have been more wrong! Those actually completed my senses. Not just physical senses, but the spiritual senses as well.

Sex is a deeply spiritual act. And those substances blinded me to that. You'll know what I mean if you're in the same situation and you eliminate them from your life.

If your problem is poor diet or being overweight. Here's an article with some advice on how to eat healthier and what ingredients to watch out for.

Psychological

The psychological aspects are a bit more complicated because it can be more difficult in finding the source. You can be the most physically fit guy on Earth, yet still be sexually impotent. If this is the case, you're more than likely suffering from something psychological. Do not worry, it is not permanent. With some lifestyle changes you can solve most of these issues.

A few examples of psychological causes are:

• Stress and Anxiety
• Fear of Intimacy
• Being hurt in the past
• Addiction to Porn and Masturbation

This is a bit trickier because men put a lot of pressure on themselves to perform well in bed. Or should I say, society puts a lot of pressure on men.

The same goes for women. Society puts a lot of pressure on women to look like the women in magazines and movies. You're not beautiful if you do not look like the latest Victoria's Secret model. Bull-shit.

If we let media and society get into our heads and believe what they're saying, it can make us feel anxious, self-conscious, and afraid. This can easily lead to psychological sexual impotence. The key is to find the root cause of what's affecting you, and heal from it. I know this can be difficult, especially at first.

The one I really want to focus on is porn and masturbation. This without a doubt, is the root cause of sexual impotence in men; And is also the most common.

Let me explain.

Think of the human brain like a computer. Everything you do in life wires your brain to do and react to specific things. So if you're doing something repeatedly over and over again, your brain is going to re-wire itself for that.

It's like someone who's trying to learn a musical instrument such as guitar. At first they suck and have no idea what they're doing. But if they stick with it and practice every day, soon enough the brain re-wires itself to know how to land each finger on each string quickly without even thinking about it.

It's the same concept with porn and masturbation.

If a guy is participating in this regularly. He is re-wiring his brain to only be aroused through self-stimulation and visual images. So when he gets with his wife or girlfriend, his brain is not programmed to get aroused by another real person, and is impotent.

Frequent masturbation over time also leads to the tissue in that area to callus. This makes it less sensitive and dull, leading to not being able to get an inspection without some serious stimulation. Like the finger tips of a guitar player. Overtime he can not feel the steel strings pressing into his fingertips anymore because they've callused.

Premature Ejaculation

Another serious sexual issue for many men. There is no magic-pill for this. I think most men, even if they do not suffer from this now, did at one point in their lives. If you're currently struggling with this, be aware that this is not a permanent thing if you do not want it to be. With practice you can learn to go as long as you want. You can learn to control it.

How?

The answer is so simple that men make it difficult.

Breathing and Self-Control

I read a quote once that said "He who controls his breath, controls the universe", and that is absolutely true. This can be difficult because during the act you're not likely thinking about much else right? The problem is not being calm and relaxed. Breathing enhances self-control and relaxes you. Taking deep, controlled breaths, not panting, just slow, deep breaths will greatly calm you and enhance your longevity. Also, making sure to not cross the point of no return until you're ready. Remaining focused, relaxed, and breathing deep will keep you in control. When you feel the point of no return coming on, stop for a few seconds and take some breaths before continuing, it will stay. After some practice this will become second nature to you.

Conclusion

Overcoming sexual impotence is something that takes some discipline. It's not something that happens overnight as you need to give your brain some time to re-wire out of the old habits and addictions which are causing it. The key is finding what's causing it for you and taking immediate action into reversing it. If you want a quick, temporary fix, go to a doctor's office and get some Viagra. You can get a hard-on, but some side effects are involved. Know that those pills do not do anything to solve the problem. They only sweep it under the rug and making it worse in the long run. There's no magic-pill, but if I had to suggest a natural, healthy remedy to help strengthen libido. Which works very well by the way. It would be Maca Root.

I hope this is clear and helpful. If you have any questions, comments, or if I've missed anything. Please feel free to use the comment box below. Thank you!

How The Cure For Cancer Was Discovered

The cure for cancer was discovered by Dr. Max Gerson, or rather by one of his patients in the early 1900’s. The cure was discovered by accident, but it soon became famous and many people were helped.

It all started when Dr. Max Gerson began to experience severe migraine headaches. Nothing was able to help him, and so he began to do his own experiment with his diet. After 2 years he had found a cure for his migraines; he had eliminated animal products, spices, salt and alcohol, and ate only certain raw foods, as well as some cooked vegetables.

This was known as the Gerson Migraine Diet, and news about his discoveries spread fast.

The cure for cancer was discovered when Dr. Gerson gave the migraine treatment to a patient who also had skin tuberculosis. The patient noticed his skin clear up and reported his condition back to Dr. Gerson.

It was at this time that Dr. Gerson began to experiment with other skin tuberculosis patients. A clinical study was done in 1924 on 450 skin tuberculosis patients; miraculously, 446 of those patients recovered from their condition.

In 1946, Dr. Max Gerson, along with 5 of his cured patients, testified in court that the cure for cancer had been found. After this Dr. Gerson wrote a book to record his studies called, “A Cancer Therapy, Results of 50 Cases.”

The book is still available today and many have been helped just by reading it. This book is not just for cancer, but many people with many other illnesses have been helped.

4 Benefits Of Practicing Yoga Regularly

Yoga is one of those ancient practices that can help you achieve a positive outlook, calm your mind, help you overcome stress and experience inner peace and serenity. After all, yoga means the union of the body with the soul and your inner self-achieving a dialogue with the external world. While many would have you believed that its fundamental benefits are physical and try to show it off its spiritual excellence, I feel the fact remains that all our physical well-being is intrinsically linked to our inner happiness and true purpose of yoga is essentially igniting this happiness of the soul. Here are some of the reasons why yoga has benefited me personally:

Reduce Stress

Yoga goes a long way in mitigating the physical impact of stress on our body. By the very nature of self-restraint, it helps me lower the levels of stress-related hormone Cortisol, thereby, directly bringing down my blood pressure levels and also the rate of heart beat. As a result of this, other related symptoms like depression, hypertension, insomnia and anxiety also get taken care of. It also enhances the digestive function. This also directly impacts the immune system. After all, as the saying goes strong body houses a strong mind.

Reduces Pain

This is something I have only realized through the continuous practice. While the apparent link is not that obvious, inner calm and peace also go a long way in curing pain and body ache. Asanas and meditation together go a long way in even tackling chronic diseases like multiple sclerosis, arthritis, back pain and spinal cord related ailments. When the immune system gets a booster through the physical practice, it also helps the body tackle various germs a lot more effectively and efficiently.

Mental Balance

It is after all common knowledge that regular practice can lead to a more effective blood flow through the body. This also enhances the effective functioning of the cardiovascular system. As a result, the body’s effective functioning improves your overall mental balance. The mind gets a boost of improved oxygen supply and this no doubt helps an individual handle stress situation, anger and all other negative forces a lot more efficiently. It is, therefore, natural that you do not easily succumb to temper loss or take a rash decision. By nature, you become calmer and handle any issue with more maturity.

Flexibility

Yoga helps in improving flexibility and mobility of the body. By reducing the aches and various pain points, it also boosts us with greater strength and confidence to complete the yoga asanas to their complete fruition. Initially, I was never able to touch my toes but gradually with patience and practice my muscles started loosening up and I could feel my flexibility and stamina improving simultaneously.

Therefore, it won’t be wrong to say that Yoga has helped calm me down and handle pressure a lot more effectively. I don’t get stressed so easily now and can handle tension more efficiently. Needless to mention, this has also helped me achieve better mental balance.

Getting Stoned – Hot Stone Therapy For Health

In the bad old days of the Soviet Union, citizens who suffered with minor often weather-related health problems such as runny noses, headaches and sore throats were often diagnosed with poor circulation. Sometimes the prescribed cure was to have a family of live leeches stuck on their backs, to draw the blood to the surface and suck out impurities. Other times, the cure was hot stone therapy.

Hot stone therapy is offered by many day spas as a relaxing treatment.

Like leeches, hot stone therapy existed to clear out the lymphatic circulation and help improve circulation throughout the body. The stones were often heated in a sauna and placed on the (victim’s) back in a fairly haphazard fashion, sometimes leaving marks that took weeks to heal. In rare cases, the marks never disappeared at all.

These days, Western hot stone therapy has evolved into a popular, New Age type of massage, with the hot stones placed along the back’s chakra, or energy points. The idea is the same: to improve circulation while also helping aid relaxation and give renewed energy. Often, the recipient listens to New Age music or the sound of gently flowing water to make the whole experience even more surreal. Does it work? Probably not.

Why Get Stoned?

People get stoned because they want to flush out bad toxins, get their juices flowing and enjoy a relaxing, peaceful treatment that will reduce inflammation and increase their energy levels. Other reasons people choose to indulge in a hot stone treatment are because the recipients a) are curious, b) need some personal attention and relaxation, c) like to try out new massages, d) believe in “Native American healing”, e) are stupid, or f) are all of the above.

The stones used are usually made from a smooth, black volcanic rock called basalt, and are heated to very high temperatures. They normally are vigorously cleaned and sterilized between every treatment – or they should be. The massage begins when the stones are placed either one by one or all together on chakras along the spine, as the client lies topless on his or her tummy. The therapist usually massages the client gently using the smooth stones themselves, often implementing traditional Swedish massage techniques. He or she might also leave heated stones on specific parts of the body to bring about additional relaxation, such as in the palms of the hands.

Skeptics may laugh at this therapy, but believers stress that as hot stones have been used for centuries by various healers, they must be good. We know that heating pads can work to help relieve muscular tension and promote healing, so why not natural stones? Similarly, they argue, the use of cold stone therapy can be important in causing the contraction of blood vessels, thus increasing the lymph flow around the body of different types of waste material. So what if a packet of frozen peas would do the trick just as well – and for a lot cheaper?

Proponents of hot stone therapy say it can help alleviate the following:

Back pain

Muscular pains, aches and strains

Insomnia

Fibromyalgia

Multiple Sclerosis

Various arthritic complaints

Depression or anxiety

Hot Stone Facials

Like the name suggest, this technique involves massaging usually the face and neck with hot stones, although sometimes the arms and hands are massaged as well. Is it thought that the massage combined with the stones can improve the health as well as the appearance of the face, as it helps the nervous system by improving circulation of both the blood and lymph, thus helping the cells restore themselves. In some cases, such as with the Elemis Colling Hot Stone Body-Facial, the face is massaged using cooling masks and gels, then hot stones are placed on pressure points to achieve better relaxation.

Hot Stone Pedicures

If you thought an unusual pedicure meant having black or blue polish applied to your toenails instead of bright red, think again. A hot stone pedicure using warm, flat stones from wet riverbeds as well as aromatic mints (no, really) to give your tootsies the massage they have always dreamt of. Could be a thoughtful gift for the person who has everything – including smelly feet. Some canny therapists invite their clients to take part in a sweetly scented “jellybath” beforehand to relax their feet (and presumably get rid of any offensive odor).

LaStone Therapy

Bizarre as it may sound, this therapy uses a special combination of stones of different temperatures to achieve a relaxing effect on the body. It uses 18 frozen stones, 54 hot stones and one stone of room temperature. Why? Who knows!

This “ancient” therapy was developed by one Ms Mary Nelson long, long ago, way back in 1993. She had a Native American spirit guide, who began talking to her and telling her all about getting stoned. She developed a technique that begins with Swedish massage and ends up with hot and cold stones – and one stone of room temperature, don’t forget – being placed all over your back and the palms of your hand.

Interestingly, only certified LaStone Therapy therapists are qualified to carry out this specific type of massage – presumably ones who pay the aforementioned Ms Nelson for training that leads to certification. Even more interesting, these qualified therapists never refer to the stones they use as “stones”. Oh no. They are to be referred to as “Stone Clan People,” due to the special healing properties in which each stones is invested. Cute!

A Cautionary Tale

Please note that not only must the stones be properly cleaned between each treatment (see above), but that the therapist administering the treatment must have proper training. This is not only for you to receive maximum benefit, but also so you will not get burned.

“Basically, we have had a disproportionate number of claims from hot stone massage,” writes Kate Armitage, executive director and vice president of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals, in an article published in the April/May ’07 edition of Massage & Bodywork magazine. “These claims have all been burns – some worse than others – but some have been third-degree burns.”

So if you want to try getting stoned yourself, make sure you only visit a qualified therapist at a licensed med spa with a sparkling reputation. And even though there are literally hundreds of companies on the Internet that sell massage stones, don’t try this at home – unless you fancy some permanent scarring on your back, hands or face!

Are Infections Really That Bad? Should I Be Worried?

I say, deal with infection when you get it.

And deal with it smartly, and correctly.

Infection prevention is better than cure, yet do not be excessively preventive, especially during TSW.

I've seen so many TSW sufferers justify their use of antibacterial / anti-infection products and apply them liberally for "fear of infection", even when they do not have any infection. They use plenty of nice stuff like virgin coconut oil, tree tree oil, apple-cider-vinegar, anti-fungals, anti-microbials just because they are afraid they get infected.

These might be good preventive actions, IF AND ONLY IF, your skin is perfect – they function normally, they have the right diffusivity and permeability, they allow the right things to pass through and stop the bad things from going through.

When you have TSW skin – your skin is porous, leaky and highly sensitive, your blood tissues are dilated, you lose water easily, your blood plasma is exposed externally – do you think that by excessively being preventable, you are actually exposing your skin, Blood and internal biochemistry to potentially more variables, some of them could be more harmful than helpful?

So much for prevention, when we only think one-dimensionally on the benefits or properties of the product, instead of thinking how the product actually interfaces and interfaces with us. When companies sell us stuff, they tell us how good their stuff is. They never tell you exactly how the stuff works with your bodies.

So my opinion is to stay off the prevention track, and start observing keenly.

In my personal experience, despite the abundance of open, wet, raw, soft wounds, there were rare instances when my skin was badly infected. I do not see huge areas of pus and infection, or areas to suggest that I was thoroughly infected.

So if I do not see it or feel it, I do not worry about it. When I do not worry about it, there is one less thing on my plate. I rely on less products. I reduce the potential number of variables that might make my skin turn bad (Although there may also be variables that make my skin turn better, I'd rather choose the opposite of not turning bad, as those variables that make my skin better are only Transient and will require my dependence on the product that produces those variables, ie moisturizers / SKII for the ladies). When I eliminate variables, I can better pin-point what actually makes my skin turn bad. And when I can better identify those factors, I can avoid them. And the more I avoid them, the less bad skin gets, and more time is given for the skin to heal.

So what happens when I do get infected?

About 3 weeks back, I got a small 3 x 3 cm spot on my calf filled with small pus at the root of my leg hairs. It's probably folliculitis and I probably got infected somewhere somehow.

If I had been overtly reactive and afraid, I would have quickly searched around for answers, and would probably receive all kinds of nice advice of using what type of medicine, creams, natural cures, and even possibly some oral antibiotics to treat the small spot Of infection.

But I did not, because it was just a small infected spot. It was not life-threatening. It was slighty irritating and abit scary to look at (spots of pus on your leg? WEIRD). But the key factor was that – it was not life-threatening.

I decided to let the infection sit for a few days and just observed.

Nothing happened actually. The infection did not spread, and started to go away by itself over the week.

My body did most of the work in getting rid of the localized infection. By the time you see pus, you should know that your body has already done plenty of work in the creation of the pus, which is infact a process of isolation of foreign toxins / bacteria, which causes them from doing more harm systemically.

So this heuristic – letting the body do its work if its not life-threatening – worked in my favor.

Things that worry me are body-wide systemic infection / inflammation. Cases that could be life-threatening – increased body-wide temperature, uncontrollable fever, even hives, chicken pox or any sudden body wide rashes.

Body-wide = real bad. Localised = wait and see if it gets worse. Do seek a second opinion if you face systemic infection or infection. Intuitively, your body should tell you whether an issue is manageable or not. If you do not trust your guts, always seek a doctor's opinion.

In our daily life, we often do things without thinking why we do them. We do them out of traditions, fear, habits, routine, peer pressure etc. Many of them do not have a strong logical and empirical basis and many people live with philosophies that are detrimental for their lives. And many of them do not recognize this, as their very basic permissions limit their way of thinking.

Start by having doubts, and then by using your senses to empirically confirm or deny your doubts.

Stop being overly medicated. If there is not a need to (non-life threatening) use medication, do not.

Deal with infection only when you get them. Deal with them correctly, and you will be improving your natural immune system. Deal with them incorrectly, and you do the reverse.

That is very similar to how we manage eczema with topical steroids too.

Malignant Epithelial Mesothelioma

Malignant Epithelial Mesothelioma

Epithelial mesothelioma is the most common type of malignant mesothelioma, which takes account of 50 to 70 percent of cases. Actually there are three different types of mesothelioma cells: epithelial, sarcomatoid and biphasic in terms of cellular histology. Of coure, the epithelial mesothelioma also has a numerous subtypes, including:

  • Single File
  • Glandular
  • Adenoid cystic
  • Microcystic
  • Macrocystic
  • Signet Ring
  • In Situ
  • Small Cell
  • Diffuse – NOS
  • Glomeruloid
  • Tubulopapillary
  • Histiocytoid Deciduoid
  • Mucin Positive
  • Gaucher Cell-Like
  • Poorly Differentiated (large cell) or Pleomorphic
  • Well-Differentiated Papillary

Epithelial Mesothelioma Causes

Epithelial mesotheliomas are also called epithelioid mesothelioma. The morphology of an epithelioid cell resembles that of epithelial cells, which is also a mesenchymal cell. When viewed under a microscope, the epithelioid cells looks like the line structures.

When malignant mesothelioma develops within the pleura, peritoneum, or pericardium, actually it is these mesothelial cells, a type of epithelial cell that become hazardous. Epithelial mesothelioma cells usually take a look of clear-cut, ilk shape.

Additionally there is still an important point to note: malignant epithelioid mesothelioma cells look closely like cells of another type of cancer called adenocarcinoma, which often falls in illness in the lungs or in other vital organs. When adenocarcinoma develops in the lungs, it can often extend to the pleural membrane. This adenocarcinoma cancer also originates in epithelial tissue.

For the reasons above, the adenocarcinoma patients should make the final confirm diagnosis if they have the history of asbestos exposure.

Epithelial Mesothelioma Prognosis and Treatments

According to the location and stage of the cancer, the treatment options are a slight of difference. Generally patients with malignant epithelioid mesothelioma are better diagnosed than patients with either biphasic mesothelioma or sarcomatoid, thus the epithelial mesothelioma treatment may not be as aggressive.

The numerous health benefits of olive oil run almost as deep as its history. It may appear simple, but in fact, is one of the most complex oils used today. In order to reap the wide range of health benefits, we must take time to understand the creation process and the different types.

History

The exact origin of olive oil remains unknown, but evidence of the existence of olives dates back farther than 6,000 years ago. As one of the oldest cultivated trees, it first grew in Crete, Greece in 3500BC. At that time, the tree spread to the Mediterranean basin, which includes African shores and Southern Europe. In 2000BC, olives were found inside Egyptian tombs; additionally, that date is when cultivation began to play a major role in the Crete economy. Crete began the first olive export to Greece, Asia Minor, and Northern Africa. Olives were a luxury in Greece and it became not only a food item, but was highly regarded as a beauty treatment.

Types of Oil

Most countries utilize the International Olive Oil Council to define quality and standards; however, the United States does not adhere to these standards. Instead, the United States follows the USDA’s 1948 Classification System, which includes the following qualities: extra-virgin, virgin, refined, pure, olive pomace, refined olive pomace, and lite. Please read the following for descriptions of the most common types:

Extra-virgin oil is the highest quality due to its high mineral and vitamin content. In order for olive oil to be considered extra-virgin, the oil must be produced by extraction methods that contain no chemicals or hot water, be first cold-pressed, have an acidity level of less than 1 percent, and have perfect taste.

Virgin olive oil, like extra-virgin, is first-cold pressed and produced without chemicals or hot water; however, virgin oil may contain an acidity level up to 3.3 percent. The flavor can vary and the taste is less mild than extra-virgin varieties.

Refined olive oil is created by refining virgin oil. The acidity level is greater than 3.3 percent; the finished product is tasteless and the odor is unpleasant.

Pure olive oil is a mix of virgin and refined. It has the same acidity level as virgin and can withstand high heat. The nutritional content is lower than virgin oil, which make it inexpensive compared to high quality oils. Pure oil is commonly used as all-purpose oil.

Light and extra-light are types of oils that contrary to the name do not contain less calories, but are a blend of refined oils that are made from the lowest quality oils created through chemical processing.

Health Benefits

Olive oil is composed of monounsaturated fat, which is considered a healthy fat. Introducing monounsaturated fats into your diet is healthier than ingesting saturated and trans fats. Monounsaturated fats offer a plethora of health benefits, when used in moderation. The following is a list of all of the wonderful health benefits it can impart.

It has the capability to lower blood pressure due to containing beneficial antioxidants, which are most prevalent in extra-virgin oil. The antioxidants, called polyphenol, are believed to be the primary source to help lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure. To receive maximum benefits, men should consume four tablespoons and women should consume three tablespoons, daily.

Research shows that monounsaturated fats, as found in olive oil, contain oleic acid and is capable of reducing the instance of cancer. Oleic acid is capable of reducing the effect of the cancer forming gene, called oncogene. Olive oil is noted to positively help breast, prostate, and colon cancer.

Olive oil is able to control blood sugar specifically by lowering blood glucose levels. Diabetics, or border-line diabetics, are instructed to follow a low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet. Olive oil can help control blood sugar even if diabetics switch to a high fat diet, considering most of that fat comes from olive oil.

Monounsaturated fats that are found in plant oils are best at controlling good and bad cholesterol. Consumption can help your body rid itself of bad cholesterol, known as LDL cholesterol. Additionally, this oil does not negatively effect the levels of good cholesterol, known as HDL cholesterol. In fact, it can even raise the levels of HLD cholesterol providing a double benefit.

Researchers state that the extra-virgin variety contains an anti-inflammatory ingredient. The ingredient, oleocanthal, helps it to act as a pain reducer, much like over-the-counter aspirin. It will not show immediate results, but can provide pain reducing benefits if consistently ingested over a period of time.

How to Cook with Olive Oil

Now that the health benefits have been explained, let’s discuss some of the common methods of how to cook with this oil.

High quality, extra-virgin oils should be reserved for use in dressings, dips, and vinaigrettes. Replace oil for butter in baked potatoes, or brush onto cooked vegetables or fish. Sprinkle rosemary, basil, cracked black pepper, and sea salt on top of extra-virgin oil for a delicious bread dip.

If you are to saut or fry, choose a combination oil which is a mix of extra-virgin and regular olive oil. Use olive oil grade for deep-frying which works wonderful due to its high smoke point of 410 degrees Fahrenheit.

One additional way to incorporate olive oil into your diet: use it for non-stick oil when a recipe calls for butter or spray oil. Drizzle onto your pan and spread evenly with a paper towel to ensure complete coverage.

Who Should Avoid Olive Oil

Allergies are uncommon, but should not be ignored. In most cases, an allergy is a mild occurrence and the symptoms will go away in a short amount of time. On the other hand, a person can experience a more severe allergic reaction, which can lead to anaphylactic shock. A person who suspects an allergy should take note of the following symptoms: stomach or chest pain, rash, migraine, or red, itchy eyes. These allergies are rare and as a key part of theMediterraneandiet, the health benefits of olive oil are well recognized and enjoyed by millions.

Visible Symptoms of Several Commonly Abused Drugs

You may have a friend, family member, or co-worker who has had an erratic change in behavior laTely. This does not mean that he or she is abusing drugs, but could have a lack of sleep, be ill, or have experienced a traumatic event. This information below is for those of you who do suspect drug abuse. Use this information only as a guideline. Do not confront the potential drug abuser. You may want to engage the help of a professional to help you deal with this issue if it is a family member. A co-worker may need to be reported to the manager or director. There is help available, though.

In general, symptoms of drug usage do not pop out alone, and usually there is more than one symptom that you will be able to notice. Depending on a person's body structure, age, and gender, different symptoms will show up in a different order, strength and combination. Also, every drug has its own set of symptoms that reveal its influence on the human body. Here's a brief coverage of specific symptoms that characterize certain kinds of drugs:

Marijuana: Glassy, red eyes; Loud talking and inappropriate laughter followed by sleepiness; A sweet burnt scent; Loss of interest, motivation; Weight gain or loss.

Alcohol: Clumsiness; Difficulty walking; Slurred speech; Sleepiness; Poor judgment; Dilated pupils; Possession of a false ID card (of course this is common among teens.)

Depressants: (including barbiturates and tranquilizers) Seems drunk as if from alcohol, but without the associated odor of alcohol; Difficulty concentrating; Clumsiness; Poor judgment; Slurred speech; Sleepiness; And contracted pupils.

Stimulants: Hyperactivity; Euphoria; Irritability; Anxiety; Excessive talking followed by depression or excessive sleeping at odd times; May go long periods of time without eating or sleeping; Dilated pupils; Weight loss; Dry mouth and nose.

Inhalants: (Glues, aerosols, and vapors) Watery eyes; Impaired vision, memory and thought; Secretions from the nose or rashes around the nose and mouth; Headaches and nausea; Appearance of inoxication; Drowsiness; Poor muscle control; Changes in appetite; Anxiety; Irritability; An unofficial number of spray cans in the trash.

Hallucinogens: Dilated pupils; Bizarre and irrational behavior including paranoia, aggression, hallucinations; Mood swings; Detachment from people; Absorption with self or other objects, slurred speech; Confusion.

Heroin: Needle marks; Sleeping at unusual times; Sweating; Vomiting; Coughing and sniffling; Twitching; Loss of appetite; Contracted pupils; No response of pupils to light.

Of course, every drug has its own influence on the human body, and depending on which chemical substance – it can slow down or speed up a person's brain activity. Professionals often call this: "effects on the executive functioning areas of the brain." Executive functioning areas of the brain are responsible for activities like planning, organizing, acting when it is time to act, as well as delaying or preventing action (inhibitory functions) when appropriate.

The executive brain functions are performed in the frontal and prefrontal cortex. When a person starts using drugs – the inhibitory functions of the brain are specifically impaired, which means that his or her brain stops to delay or prevent impulses that would have been stopped in regular conditions. These changes in the human brain can lead to aggression, sexual, criminal, or other activities that can have devastating consequences for the addicted person. Until the age of 25, the human brain is in the process of active and rapid development, and, therefore, is not fully mature. Drug abuse in childhood and teenage years can cause devastating effects on the youngger person's ability to perform important executive functions.

Bronchitis Duration

Bronchitis duration largely depends on the cause. The causes can either be as a result of bacteria and viruses. Other causes include smoking and inhaling harmful substances. Bronchitis caused by smoking can take longer to heal than that caused by pathogens. This can only be completely healed if one stops the smoking habit.

Tar smoked in piles up in the airways causing an inflammation. If not taken care of, it can progress to other more serious conditions such as pneumonia, asthma and cancer. Bronchitis duration as a result of viruses does not last for more than a week. The symptoms of bronchitis as a result of viruses most of the time do not require any medication. Bacteria infections need to be medicated using antibiotics.

Bronchitis duration for this kind of infection can take long err. A person who has the bronchitis disease first starts experiencing a dry cough. This cough is usually severe enough to wake you up at night. This is followed by the other symptoms of bronchitis. These are fever, fatigue and headaches. After a few days, the dry cough progresses to become a productive one. The productive cough is the reason why one starts experiencing shortness of breath, wheezing and chest pains.

Bronchitis duration for all these symptoms apart from the expectorant cough is a few days. The cough can go on for almost a month. If it takes more than a month, one should go for more diagnosis from an ear, nose and throat doctor. This is to rule out the presence of other conditions other than the bronchitis. This cough if not treated can progress to asthma. Prevention measures should also be taken to avoid bronchitis.

Emotion – The Key to Being, Doing, and Having

I spend my time generally between two places and I have come to notice something significant in my personal and professional (coaching) life. Winter, especially late winter in (Copenhagen) Denmark is harsh. This is in great contrast to my home in San Diego, California (USA) where the sun is shining or at least it is bright most days, people are out and about in the winter months exercising, taking classes and visibly energetic. Back here in Denmark, a beautiful little country in which to visit or live, I should add, the winter is challenging. By late winter it has been months of weather that is cold, windy, icy, snowy, rainy, gray, devoid of sunshine most days and daylight has been in very short supply.

People smile very little. It sees there is more political infection in the government, more fighting between the police and the youth / alternative lifestyle groups, and more proposals of laws against youth or "outsiders" in winter. People rarely smile. The weather promotes quick walking with one's face down, pushing against the rain or snow being blown at you. A lot of beer and alcohol is consumed in order to feel good. People's faces look sometimes tired but mostly blank. In the media and among people with what you converse, it is not uncommon to hear about depression and stress. It is as though the life has been sucked out of people for a few months.

Not uncommonly, in the circles in which I move, I there stand out. Why? Because I smile – in fact I smile so much it is the expression on my face when I am not conscious of it because I am smiling inside. I am a "morning person" and do my best work and have my best energy in the morning until early afternoon. I also have had life circumstances and a spiritual journey that has made me grateful for every day I awakened with the ability to appreciate and enjoy everything from awakening in a cozy bed, being able to take a hot shower and put on a change of clothing to Having the energy and ability to walk to a train, take notes in a meeting, spend time chatting with someone I encounter or exercising at the gym. My days are good. I achieve much of what I want to achieve in life. Friends and acquaintances here comment on my attitude and energy, amazed about it.

When I have a meeting with people, or teach or coach someone, this same attitude pervades our interaction. I consciously bring this energy, this EMOTION to our relationship, to our time together. It is my effective weapon against what in Denmark is called Janteloven or Jante's Law / The Law of Jante.

The term, Janteloven, was coined in the work of Danish author Axel Sandemose in 1933 in a novel entitled "A Fugitive Crosses His Tracks". In the story, the main character commits a murder when he is a young man, and the conformist values of his hometown of Jante are viewed as responsible for the murder. It is determined that the values of his community destroyed the individualistic spirit of his boyhood. Although Sandmose himself did not insure these laws were exclusively Danish, they have come to be associated with Danish and general Nordic values.

Janteloven is generally understood as a metaphor that epitomizes the negative values of group mentality. It has been interpreted as a set of laws that discourages "individuality, individual achievement, novelty of thought and action, spontaneity, variety and competition …. encourages sameness, insidious deceitfulness, jealousy, mediocrity, and complacency.

Janteloven has 10 commands:

O You will not think that you are special.
O You will not think that you are of the same standing as us.
O You will not think that you are smarter than us.
O Do not fancy yourself as being better than us.
O You will not think that you know more than us.
O You will not think that you are more important than us.
O You will not think that you are good at anything.
O You will not laugh at us.
O You will not think that anyone cares about you.
O You will not think that you can teach us anything.

In a very real way, this is a soul-killing life philosophy that deadens the spirit, wipes the smile off your face and is profoundly immersed in low-level negative emotions such as depression, worry and fear. It promotes jealousy and resentment about other people, their achievements and their positive attitude.

Ultimately, this Jateloven attitude results in being left behind in relationships, careers and society in general. It leads to failure. It is not a viable solution in the modern world for creating fruitful personal relationships, families or careers.

When you overlap a Janteloven attitude you embrace a lie.

The truth is this: You can do anything, have anything, be anything you put your mind to set about achieving. The fuel you need to make it work is EMOTION. Not only that, it needs to be a high level emotion – gratitude, happiness, joy, hope, love. Depression, worry, fear and anxiety will not bring you a positive achievement. You will get what you do not want – because you focused mentally on it and put the emotions of fear, worry, anxiety and depression behind it.

Musician Joan Armatrading is on the right track. Before reading further, take a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Yqgqd4nkoc

When you do not achieve a goal, take a look at the structure of your life and what you are holding in your mind and the emotions behind it. Typically you find you have been mired in worry, depression, and fear. The result is not achieving a goal. It is then time to kick yourself into high gear and get back on track with what is true – and that is the Law of Attraction. Remind yourself that your will attract whatever you focus on and invest with emotion, whatever that may be. I have embroidered the lie that says you can not have, do or be what you desire. As soon as this is realized it is time to release it and get back on track.

So the process is straight-forward. Be clear about what you want. Focus on it with not only your mind, but your emotions. Direct your emotions. As musician Joan Armatrading says, "light up". Be grateful. Be joyful. Be excited. Be motivated. Be insistent. See yourself achieving your goal / having what you want and get happy about it. That vision is important. Focus is powerful. Stay focused on that opportunity – because where you place your focus is where you will find yourself in the end. Seize every opportunity and be willing to take risks to create opportunity – all with your goal clearly in mind. Expect to receive what your desire.

The Universe listens to what goes through your head and is powered by your emotions. Your emotions make your thought "scream" out what you want and in response the Universe. Without judgment, gives you what you are so sturdy focusing on with your thoughts and emotions. That means your best move, if you want to achieve your vision, is to plug into positive, high-level emotions and put them behind your vision.

You will manifest what you desire.

The Psychology of Fear

On fear as emotions, fear as feelings, fear as anxieties and fear as phobias

Although fear has been classified as an emotion by psychologists, it is a very basic human emotion and can be almost considered as a simple feeling. In fact if emotions comprise of feelings and bodily reactions, then fear would be the basic feeling component of anxiety or phobias as has been explained in the psychology of emotions. I prefer the use of fear as feeling rather than as an emotion and to explain this, it is important to distinguish between feelings and emotions in psychology. As of now this distinction is blurred and psychologists do not distinguish between feeling and emotion extensively.

Emotions are complex mental and physical processes as emotions involve feelings which are mental or psychological components and bodily reactions which are physical reactions. Thus feeling is an essential part of emotion. The simple feeling is purely psychological and does not involve bodily reactions and that is how fear which may or may not involve bodily reactions could be both a feeling and an emotion. For example fear of a student at the examination center would have been accompanied by bodily reactions such as rapid heart beats or flushed face, dilated pupils and so on. Although fear which could be a feeling component may be very simple and generalized and could be even unconscious without the presence of bodily reaction, although not as intense as anxiety which necessarily involves bodily reactions. So because you are on stage and performing a play, you may not directly sense any bodily reaction and could be calm and normal but you may still harbor a feeling of fear as in some sort of uneasiness.

Fear could be both a feeling and an emotion yet fear as an entirely subjective or mental feeling component would be difficult to detect as it would not be accompanied by visible or noticeable physical reactions as in fear as an emotion. Anxiety on the other hand is considered a distinct internalized emotion as it arises internally from a perceived threat rather than fear which is due to external stimuli. Fear could be defined as an externalized emotion or internalized feeling which may or may not be accompanied by bodily reactions and fear could be conscious or unconscious.

A psychology of fear would distinguish fear as an emotion and fear as a feeling, fear as conscious and fear as unconscious as well as fear with bodily reactions and fear without bodily reactions and fear in anxiety and fear in phobias. It would be important to understand why fear occur and what are the bodily reactions when fear is a strong conscious emotion and how this differences from fear as a feeling which may not have bodily reactions and could be conscious but would more likely be unconscious.

Say for example you have an unconscious fear of old haunted dilapidated homes and you repeatedly dream of events in such houses that could cause some bodily reactions but it is not obviously obvious that the fear is causing the bodily reaction. So in this case, the fear itself is simply unconscious and a feeling which manifests in dreams and the dreams are associated with bodily reactions and not the fear. So here fear is a feeling rather than an emotion. Some psychologists would ever argue that this 'fear' could simply be an undefined anxiety but since the psychologists would also identify the cause of the fear (or anxiety as they would say) which is a fear of haunted houses, this is still an externalized fear And not internalized anxiety. Fear is thus externalized whether it is a feeling or an emotion.

The distinction between feelings and emotions are like trying to distinguish between meteoroids and asteroids in outer space and the distinction would require very detailed analysis of the layers of the mind. At this point we do not have sufficient frameworks or scientific evidence that would help to make this distinction easy. Modern studies in consciousness have focused on this problem of feeling. As Thomas Nagel highlighted in his very famous paper 'What is it like to be Bat?' This subjective feeling of 'what it is like to be' is very important. With the study of consciousness, the subjective aspects of emotions are all important and despite hardcore physicalists who believe that our minds are nothing but neuronal firings would ignore that an emotion would have a feeling aspect, studies in consciousness have proved that feeling or the subjective aspect Of being is the core of being human.

However the topic being the psychology of fear, it is essential to understand why fear happens and what would be the therapeutic directions for fear. Fear could be characterized as a general unconscious feeling of incompetence or could be more complex emotion such as anxiety and externalized fear. Fear could also be phobias which are persistent pathological consequences directed towards specific objects and situations. Phobias could be of spiders or heights and these are exaggerated or extreme forms of fear with severe bodily reactions, almost bordering on paranoid reactions. Fear could thus be revealed as severe emotions with bodily reactions, and can be characterized as anxiety or phobia, fear could also be a general feeling. In order to understand why fear happens we distinguish the types of fear:

Fear as Emotions – Fear when accompanied by bodily reactions would signify strong emotional response to a situation or an object or event. Since the feeling of fear is internalized, fear would naturally begin with a feeling or a subjective component. This means the individual would first 'feel' afraid of the situation and then react to it. Such fear in which the individual is conscious of the emotion and reacts strongly to it is generally an emotional response and this sort of fear is thus identified as a strong emotion.

Fear as Feeling – Fear could be simply manifested as a subjective feeling, a sense of uneasiness or unconscious perception of some sort of danger or threat that may not evoke strong bodily reactions. Fear as feeling is thus unconsciously released in dreams, slips of tongue, lapses of attention etc.

Fear as Anxiety – Fear as a feeling could also be the subjective basis of anxiety as when internalized and even unexplained anxiety has a general feeling of fear. Anxiety therefore also begins with a fear but this could have been largely unconscious, internalized and more generalized. But anxiety has distinct bodily reactions and that is how anxiety differs from fear as a feeling.

Fear as Phobias – Fear as phobias consist of persistent pathological emotional response towards specific objects or events. The difference between anxiety and phobia is that phobias are always externalized whereas anxiety is internalized and fear again being externalized as an emotion or internalized as a feeling would be a part of both anxiety and phobias. However phobias are not emotions but pathological challenges consist of fear as a complex emotion and bodily reaction. Since phobias are compositions of emotions and strong reactions, the reactions are expressed in exaggerated forms in phobias so individuals with phobias would react in extreme ways and could develop a state of panic especially due to the extreme and uncontrollable bodily reactions.

In the therapeutic treatment of psychology it will be necessary to understand the origin of fear and this could be done with neurological studies and studies of bodily reactions and mental states. Fear as simple feelings or complex emotional responses should be identified in specific situations and intensive fear could have been studied in anxiety and phobia.
