How to Make Your Ex Want You Back by Showing Confidence

So many breakups lead to the couple wanting to get back together. But, sadly not that many do. It's pretty easy to see why if you look at it from a wider perspective. Think about how most folks act after a breakup, especially the person who was dumped. The words depressed or hurt probably came to your mind.

It's absolutely 100% normal to feel this way after getting such hard news. But if your goal is to get back together with your ex, are you helping your case by being so depressed? Of course not!

All the crying and yelling should be done in your private time. These are the kind of emotions that usually lead to other negative things such as begging, pleading, and sometimes even stalking. You can take a guess and figure out that getting back together is much harder once these kinds of things happen.

As great as emotions are, sometimes they can be a liability. This particular case is a perfect example. You are getting in your own way. It's hard to be focused on something like How to make your ex want you back if you are still obsessed over the break up. You have to get passed that stage and focus on the getting back together part.

This is when you have to start becoming a little more cerebral, and less emotional in your thinking. You have to come up with your game plan. Pretend its a project and treat as if you were a scientist.

You can first start by dissecting the relationship. Try to do a time line of when the relationship first started, when everything was new and exciting until the relationship broke up. But I want you to focus on you not your ex. Think about you. How different are you from when you first started the relationship. Were you more attentive, easy going, whatever the case may be.

Think of it as a relationship audit.

The Quickest Way to Get a Six Pack

Most men today dream of getting that perfect six pack stomach. However most do not know the correct way to quickly get defined abs.

Most people who try to get six pack abs think that by doing lots and lost of abdominal exercises like sit ups is the way to go. This is completely incorrect. The only way to get defined abs is by losing fat, not just on your stomach (which is impossible) but all over your body. People are always looking for that one miracle way to get six pack abs. Unfortunately to only way to get them is through hard work and sacrifice.

The most important thing you need to to in order to get ripped abs is reduce your calorie intake. You have to create what is called a calorie deficit, which means you take in less calories than your body needs to maintain your current weight. This will make you burn fat. Understanding how your body works is the key to successful fat loss.

Working out is also essential for weight loss. Focus on exercises that increase your metabolic rate. Try to do a full body workout as these generally result in greater fat loss. Forget about ab exercises. While they may help with strengthening your abdominal muscles, they will not help much with the fat that is covering them up.

While you may have heard that doing cardiovascular exercise is best for weight loss this is not entirely true. Working out your whole body will often burn more calories than cardio and also builds muscle which burns even more, even when you rest.

Maintain A Healthy Lifestyle

Our modern, urbanized lifestyle relegates most of us to a sedentary lifestyle. Sitting or working behind the computer is commonplace. While it is almost impossible to give up our jobs, there are ways in which we can incorporated exercise into our hecical arrangements. If you live in an apartment, make the effort to walk your way up to your residence. If you take public transport to work, try flying from the train or bus one stop earlier and walking the rest of the way. Take time off to exercise at least twice a week, 30 minutes each time. Vigorous exercise engages the cardiovascular muscles and improves blood circulation, reducing the risk of high blood pressure.

Maintain A Healthy Diet

Our food intake today includes some form of processed food. Increased affluence has led to demand for better lifestyle and with it, food that looks appealing and tastes good. While it will be impossible to eradicate processed food altogether in your diet, try replacing some of it with fresh food. Replace sausages and bacon with fresh meat. Use natural seasoning like species and herbs instead of pre-packed condiments. If you need to snack, choose apple slices or cupped corn over potato chips. When eating out, ask for reduced salt or go salt-free. Cutting down on salt goes a long way towards giving yourself a healthy body.

Reduce Stress

We live in a competitive world. The pressure to perform both in the workplace and at home brings stress to us at a level never witnessed before. If you feel that you are burning out, drop your work and go for a walk. Take a stroll through the park or sit quietly by the beach. Breathe some fresh air. Find a moment of solitude and let your mind enjoy some peace, even for a short 30 minutes. Better still, set aside at least an hour every week to spend some quiet moments by yourself. Do not wait till the stress starts to build up. Prevention is better than cure.

Avoid Excessive Alcohol

Research has shown that excessive alcohol consumption has the effect of increasing your blood pressure level. In addition, alcohol contains calories, which leads to weight gain, one of the factors leading to high blood pressure. If you are a heavy drinker, aim to reduce your intake gradually over time. If you must drink at social functions, limit yourself to just one or two drinks. Having less alcohol cleanses your system and puts your body on a path towards normalcy.

Quit Smoking

Smoking is one of the foremost contributors towards the increase of blood pressure. Smoking increases your blood pressure temporarily but instantly. Frequent smoking increases the frequency of increased blood pressure and the long-term effects of such temporary blood pressure increases can not be ignored. Aim to quit smoking over time. Reduce your number of cigarettes gradually till you have quit altogether. There is another benefit to be enjoyed: The gradual absence of nicotine also reduces the chances of getting narrow arteries and hardened artery walls, two major factors leading to blood clot, which in turn causes heart attack or stroke.

In summary, exercise, eat healthily and remove stress from your life. Also aim to reduce your alcohol intake and quit smoking. A few simple changes in lifestyle not only greatly reduces your chances of getting high blood pressure but also makes you more fit and feel good!

Of Bellies and Brains

Are you doing everything necessary to help your kids succeed in tomorrow’s world?

Have you ever wondered what your kids have in store for them when they grow up? What will they look like and who will they be? What skills will they need in order to thrive, or even just survive in tomorrow’s world? What kind of job will they have? How well will they be prepared after they leave your nest?

One thing is for sure. The world that our kids will live in as adults will be very different than what we know today. Just think back to how many new things you have seen come since you were a kid. Remember the days when you actually had to get off the coach to change the channel? Or you had to wait for weeks to see how your pictures turned out?

The world is changing very quickly.

We live in times of rapid growth and change. New technical information doubles every two years. Entire industries sprout up and disappear in the time it takes to get a college education. Much of what students learn today is obsolete before they have a chance to use it.

We live in an age of instant gratification, instant results and instant messaging. If Google can’t answer your question then who can? We have become accustomed to immediate access to everything. Remember when we actually had to go to the library to find things out?

Our kids will have careers that don’t even exist today.

What does this mean for your kids’ future? They will use technologies not yet invented. Today’s challenges require kids to learn more stuff in less time in order to compete. They receive more information every day than our grandparents did in an entire year.

We are constantly bombarding our kids with educational and commercial messages. The amount of information in a single week of the New York Times is more than prior generations saw in a lifetime. How do they sort it all out? How do they focus?

The formulas of yesterday no longer apply.

Now more than ever, we must prepare our kids with the tools they need for tomorrow. The best skill we can give our kids today is adaptability. We must train their brains so that they can quickly respond to inevitably changing times.

Kids must learn to face change with excitement and anticipation – not with fear and dread. How many adults today have that skill? How can we can ensure that our kids have these skills necessary for their advancement in tomorrow’s world.

Brain fitness is required for our children’s success.

Brain Science is discovering that physical and mental exercise, coupled with eating foods that are good for the brain, improves the ability to learn and remember. The brain has the ability to change all the time – but only if we feed it the right stuff.

Brain scientists used to think of the brain as somehow independent of physical health – but now we know that is not true.

The health of the brain reflects the health of the body.

The brain is a physical organ and plays by all the same physical rules as the heart and lungs. We need to nourish, exercise and rest our kids’ brains just like the rest of their body.

Yet during a time when we most need to maximize our kids’ brain fitness to thrive in their modern world, we are neglecting their physical health. Just look at these facts:

1 out of 5 school age kids are overweight.

1 out of 3 kids born after the year 2000 will likely get diabetes.

1 out of 5 high school age kids have early stages of heart disease.

Millions of kids are on psychiatric medication.

ADHD diagnosis is at a record high.

The recipes for brain and body health have changed.

Several generations ago we didn’t worry about getting enough exercise. We all worked physical jobs and walked everywhere we went. We didn’t worry about eating right. There were no processed foods – we ate fresh foods from local farms. We didn’t worry about getting enough sleep. There were no electronic alarm clocks kicking us out of bed to get to school and work. But these times are gone.

Today it takes action to avoid poor health. We find our grocery stores and restaurants littered with poor choices. It’s difficult to find the time to get the exercise we know we all need. We are so busy that we end up stealing hours from our sleep to get everything done.

Focus on brain fitness will optimize the body and the mind.

The brain is the center of everything we do. When we focus on strategies that improve our kids’ brain fitness, the physical and mental health of their brains, then we simultaneously improve the health of their bodies as well. The brain is the only organ that is physical, emotional and spiritual.

If we want to give our kids the best chance at success we must give them the tools required to achieve it. We must nourish their brains with all of the necessary ingredients for brain fitness. It may sound cliché, but they are our future. We must start attending to their health to create a future for all of us.

How to Manage a Sick Day With Diabetes

It is very important to take good care of yourself while you are sick if you have diabetes. It is always best to prepare for a sick day ahead of time. While you are sick, you may not feel up to it.

The first step is purchase a small tool kit. Fill it with:

· A thermometer,

· An extra glucometer (and strips),

· A urine test kit for ketones,

· Pre-packaged applesauce (unsweetened),

· Packages of dried fruit (raisins, cranberries, banana chips)

· Boxed fruit juices (unsweetened),

· Something for a fever (aspirin or acetaminophen)

· A three day supply of your prescribed medications

· An up-to-date address book (make sure that your doctor's number and pharmacy is in it).

· A notebook and pen to help you keep track of your blood sugar, temperature, medicines, and what you have ateen.

· A medication for throwing up

· A medication for diarrhea

· Sugar-free cough drops

· A list of your medications

· A magazine or good book you have always been meaning to read

The second step is to check your blood glucose at least every four hours. If it is more than 400 call 911 and go the emergency room immediately.

The third step is to check your urine for ketones. If is high go to the emergency room. Do not hesitate.

The fourth step is to check your temperature at least every four hours if you feel feverish. If your temperature is more than 101 and places that way more than 8 hours (even after you have taken it) go to the doctor or emergency room.

The fifth step is to get adequate rest or sleep. Do not push yourself when you feel sick.

The sixth step is to drink water or other caffeine free fluids. Try to stay hydrated. This is very important. Sip fluids slowly if you stomach is upset. If you can not stay hydrated, go to the doctor or emergency room.

Taking very good care of yourself when you are sick is very important. It may not always be easy but by preparing yourself it may be bearable.

Kids Eat What You Give Them – Healthy Diet Guide for Parents

I get this all the time from parents, “Well, I would feed my children more fruits and vegetables…but they won’t eat them. It’s not my fault…” Agh! I cringe every time I hear that.

It’s not up to the kids. It’s up to you. What you decide to feed them now will shape what they will want to eat the rest of their lives. If you teach them the importance of healthy foods now they will automatically eat healthier when they go off on their own, and they will live a much healthier life.

The statistics are grim. If your child was born after the year 2000 they have a one in three chance of becoming diabetic, if you are a minority it’s 1 in 2. Aside from that, kids will also live much shorter lives than we will. This is mostly due to diet and lack of exercise. Two things that you as a parent have complete control over. I know you don’t want to be responsible for their poor health later, so you need to start paying attention today.

Ideally it should start young. When they are first learning to eat. It should be all vegetables and fruits with fish and lean meats, that you prepare! None of that jarred stuff. The jarred stuff is processed with preservatives and it tastes nothing like what the actual veggie or fruit tastes like. It’s so much easier than you think.

Hopefully they get slightly more vegetables than fruits. When my girls started on solids I gave them only vegetables for the first 2 months then slowly gave them fruits. Now at ages 1 and 3, they always eat their vegetables first. Other parents gasp when they see that, “How did you get them to do that?” They ask amazed. The answer is easy, “They eat what you give them.”

If you didn’t start young there is still hope! It’s a more gradual transition. First they have to see you eating it and enjoying it. Even if it’s not your favorite thing they have to see that you like it. But don’t over do it. Like “MMMM this is soooo good! Johnny you have to try it, YUM!” Kid’s will see right through that.

Start with one new food every week and make it a game. Have them help you choose at the grocery store, then let them help you prepare it. They will be more likely to try it if they helped make it. If they flat out refuse to try it at dinner, do not make them something else. If they are really hungry they will try it. If they honestly don’t like it, then don’t force it. Keep in mind it can take up to 9 times of introducing a new food before they decide they like it.

If they are not eating it to assert their independence let them know this is what is for dinner, breakfast, etc and you are not going to make them something else. Also let them know there will not be any snacks after dinner. And stick to it! Don’t worry; you are not going to starve them. The lesson here is so huge. I can speak from experience with my 3 year old. Every 4 months or so she will test us and will refuse to eat anything at dinner. I can tell you she eats a very good breakfast.

One more tip. Don’t buy the junk food. If it’s not in the house it’s not a choice. They will have no choice but to eat fruits and veggies if you stop buying crackers, chips, cookies, ice-cream, or other quick frozen treats like pizza rolls or hot pockets. Don’t forget to read the labels! Steer clear of anything with high fructose corn syrup, high sodium, saturated fats, and trans fats. Buy foods that are as close to nature as possible. Remember you vote with your dollars. If you keep buying it, companies keep making it, and stores stock their shelves of foods that will make your kids sick.

I make sure my family gets 7 to 13 servings of healthy fruits and vegetables everyday so that we protect our health, avoid illness, and enjoy happy healthy lives. You can too!

Herpes Simplex Infections – Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment

Herpes simplex virus can cause infections that affect the mouth, face, genitals, skin, buttocks and the anal area. Herpes simplex lesions are also known as cold sores. After an initial infection, the herpes virus lies dormant in nerve ganglia and is usually reactivated because of infections, exposure to ultraviolet radiation, stress, trauma to the skin, or changes in the immune system. Common symptoms include the appearance of a group of blisters on a red base, accompanied by itching and pain, and occasionally fever and swollen lymph glands. The blisters usually collapse to form ulcers, which heal in 7 to 10 days.

The Ayurvedic treatment of herpes simplex is aimed at treating the local symptoms and preventing recurrence. A local application is made of medicated oils and ointments containing medicines such as Manjishtha (Rubia cordifolia), Saariva (Hemidesmus indicus), Chandan (Santalum album), Haridra (Curcuma longa), Daruharidra (Berberis aristata), Yashtimadhuk (Glycerrhiza glabra) and Mandukparni (Centella asiatica). Jatyadi oil, Shatadhout-Ghrut, Panch-Tikta-Ghrut and Yashtimadhuk-Ghrut are also used for this purpose.

Medicines like Kaishor-Guggulu, Panch-Tikta-Ghrut-Guggulu, Sinhanaad-Guggulu, Ekang-Veer-Ras, Bhumiamalaki (Phyllanthus niruri), Yashtimadhuk, Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum), Sutshekhar-Ras, Praval-Bhasma, Chandrakala-Ras, Chandan and Usheer (Vetiveria zizanioidis) are used internally for about 2 to 3 weeks, till there is a complete resolution of the blisters and ulcers. If there are more than 2 recurrences of herpes simplex within 6 months, additional medicines are used to boost the immune status of the body. Medicines used for this purpose are: Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), Bala (Sida cordifolia), Naagbala (Grewia hirsuta), Abhrak-Bhasma, Trivang-Bhasma, Suvarna-Malini-Vasant and Suvarna-Bhasma.

In order to avoid recurrence of herpes simplex infections, it is important to avoid known precipitating factors such as sunburn and stress. It should be remembered that these lesions are contagious, and affected persons can transmit the virus to others, especially when they have active blister-like sores, with the commonest medium of transmission being the saliva. Affected persons should therefore avoid or minimize physical contact with others till their lesions have healed completely.

Top 10 Most Asked Questions About Boardshorts

What are the different parts of a boardshort? Here is a quick glossary:

The fly – There are multiple types of flys on boardshorts, including velcro, zippered, and neoprene. Velcro has long been the standard fly material, though some customers experience mild chaffing or rashes.

Velcro-free fly’s are often made from neoprene or other soft materials, and are becoming increasingly popular. On some boardshorts, you will be able to find a zippered fly, which is non-corrosive and works just like the fly on your jeans. Though all are functional, find a pair of boardshorts with a fly that is comfortable for you.

The seams – Vital to the durability of your boardshorts, the seams hold your shorts together. Both the inseam and the outseam are usually sewn using either double needle or triple needle stitching. The outseam is the distance from the bottom of the boardshort (leg opening) to the waist. The inseam is the seam that binds the inner length of the boardshort (from the crotch to the leg opening).

The closure – The closure is usually some combination of velcro, buttons, snaps, and drawstrings. Most boardshorts have drawstrings, which tie off after the velcro is fastened.

The pockets – Since boardshorts are used not only as swimwear, there is usually a pocket or two on the short. Some companies have integrated full hip pockets, however most boardshorts will have a side pocket with a drainhole. Keep your car key, ID, or wax comb safe and sound.

What is a stitchless inseam? Much like a velcro fly, inseams can cause mild chaffing or rashes on the inside of the leg. This occurs because the thread used on the inseam rubs against raw skin, causing irritation. The stitchless inseam is created with a type of welding glue, which keeps the seam tight but is non-abrasive.

What are boardshorts made from? The list of boardshort materials seems to grow larger every year, as new technologies continue to emerge. The most common material used is a mircofiber polyester. It is lightweight, dries quickly, soft to the touch, and very comfortable to wear. Most of the big boardshort companies (Hurley, Billabong, Quiksilver, O’Neill, Reef) have some variation of a microfiber polyester material, but use their own name. If you see supersuede, dynasuede, supreme suede or anything similar in our item descriptions, you can bet that those shorts are a microfiber polyester. There are still some boardshorts made from nylon, however popularity has decreased because they tend to be heavier and less comfortable. Some companies are also starting to integrate spandex into their boardshorts using a polyester and spandex mix. These shorts have all the same features of a regular microfiber polyester short, with added stretch and flexibility. This means more comfort while getting in and out of the water. Hydrostretch and superstretch are great examples of this new material.

What’s the difference between a boardshort and a swimsuit? Though both are made for the water, they do serve different purposes. A swimsuit or pair of swim trunks usually has a mesh liner, as well as an interior drawstring. They are typically used for light or recreational swimming. Boardshorts are typically made from more durable materials, because they have to withstand greater abuse from surfers. This doesn’t mean that you can’t wear boardshorts in a swimming pool, or a swimsuit in the ocean. If you like the fit and feel of boardshorts, wear em’ anywhere!

Why all the different lengths? Boardshorts come in many different lengths. The standard length for boardshorts is typically 22″, which puts the bottom of the short just above the knee. This is the most popular length, because no material gets in the way when you stand up to catch a wave. Short boardshorts (16″-18″ in length) were very popular in the 50’s, and are making their comeback on today’s beaches. Usually more of a fashion short than a surf short, this style will sit around mid-thigh. Longer boardshorts come in lengths above 22″, and will drop just below the knee. It is important to remember that the stated length of a short is based on a size 32 waist. Each additional inch that gets added to the waist adds half an inch to the total length. For example, a standard 22″ short will actually be 23″ in length if you moved from a size 32 to a size 34. This also works in reverse.

Should I wear anything under my boardshorts? Unlike a swimsuit, boardshorts do not have any sort of lining. Though you don’t need to wear anything underneath, you certainly can. We would recommend staying away from any sort of cotton undergarment, as they will stay wet for hours after your boardshorts dry. Instead try a Lycra or spandex material. You can get the extra support you are looking for in a quick drying and comfortable material.

Will my boardshorts fade in a swimming pool? They shouldn’t. Boardshorts are made to withstand some pretty harsh ocean conditions, so a little chlorine will not cause them to turn colors or fade.

Any tips on getting wax out of my boardshorts? If you surf, you know that your board wax will flake off onto your boardshorts from time to time. If a wash cycle doesn’t take care of the problem, try some surfboard wax remover or some “Goo Gone”. Just make sure whatever you use is free of bleach or other chemicals that could permanently stain your shorts.

There is a comb in my boardshort pocket. What is it for? That’s called a wax comb. The straight side it for removing old wax on your surfboard. The jagged side is used when new wax is applied, to add texture to the wax for better grip. If you don’t surf, feel free to ditch the comb.

How to Remove a Skin Tag – Best Options For Getting Rid of This Embarrassing Problem

If you have been bothered by the sight of flesh-colored excess skin hanging from your face, ears and body, then it is time to find the best ways how to remove a skin tag. And you definitely will be embarrassed by such ugly and wrinkly hanging skin especially in polite society.

As they say, you will not die from the non-cancerous skin condition but to die of embarrassment is another thing altogether. Plus, if they start to bleed in public, you will want them removed pronto. Fortunately for you and millions of other sufferers of skin tags, there are many methods to remove them, both the natural and the medical kinds. Let's look at them in detail.

Natural Methods

The natural methods are, expectedly, the most affordable option on how to remove a skin tag. After all, the materials needed are readily available from your home, be it the dental floss, the scissors and the rubbing alcohol as well as the bandages. As with any medical condition, you should consult with your physician before taking on any home treatment.

You have the thread method that involves cutting off the blood supply of the skin tag. You firmly tie a clean piece of thread like dental floss around the base of the tag, knot it and then leave it there for a few days. It will be starved of its blood supply and, hence, fall off in about a couple of days or so.

You can also turn to your handy scissors and alcohol to quickly cut the skin tag. You clean the affected area with soap and water and then rubbing alcohol. You may choose to apply an ice pack for a few minutes to numb the area. You should pull the tag away from the skin and then quickly cut it off at the thinnest point. A topical antibacterial ointment is necessary although you can skip on the bandages.

You can also spray on liquid bandage on your clean skin. You should do this natural method on how to remove a skin tag when you want to be discreet about it. After all, no thread need hang from your ears!

Any one of these skin tag remover methods is equally effective. However, for larger skin tags, you may have to seek the assistance of your doctor to remove them.

Medical Methods

Basically, the medical methods mirror the natural methods with a difference – anesthetics are required. Your doctor will remove them with a scissor, just like what you attempted to do at home except that this time, a surgical tool is used. You may also be asked to undergo electric cauterization where it is burned off until it becomes separated from the surrounding skin. And then there is cryotherapy where liquid nitrogen is used to deaden the affected area and, hence, make it fall off.

You have to discuss these medical options of how to remove a skin tag with your doctor as side effects can happen. For example, freezing and burning can lead to skin discoloration albeit temporary in nature, not to mention that money is involved.

Staying Intellectually Active As a Parent

When you are a parent, it can be very challenging to stay intellectually active between getting children ready for school, driving them where they need to be, work, and … well that leaves very little time for anything else. Yet it is important, to me at least, that I still have time to stay intellectually active in fields outside of my specialization. For my own purposes, I have found that the expanding availability of downloadable audio is making this more and more possible.

In the mornings, I bring both of my children where they need to be, one of them to school and one to the house of the woman that she stays with during the week. I also pick up my oldest daughter from school in the afternoon. With that said, this leaves me with about 30 minutes in the car by myself, 15 to 20 minutes in the morning and 10 to 15 minutes in the afternoon. I have begun using this time to study subjects that I might otherwise not be able to.

For instance, I have a strong interest in Brain Science; However, I am a graduate student and a graduate instructor in a different field. So, I am not normally able to spend time reading about Brain Science. Yet I have begun using my time in the car to listen to audiobooks in this area. For instance, it is possible to download Scientific American Mind (Audible) and listen to it on my iPod. This allows me to "read" about one of my favorite subjects and stay intellectually active in that area while I am doing something that I would normally consider wasted time, ie driving.

Another good option is a set of courses called the Modern Scholar series. This series is made up of what are essentially college level courses (no credit though) on subjects ranging from History to Science to Religion. There are 14 lectures in each course with each lecture lasting about 30 minutes (ie the normal time I spend driving on a MWF). I have used these and they are excellent.

So, if you are like me and you have a bit of time in the car each day, why not use this time to stay intellectually active?

The Benefits of Going Raw

In making the decision to transition into a raw food diet, many people assume that in order to be considered a raw foodist one must consume only raw, vegan foods 100% of the time. Actually, eating 70% or more of your diet raw is sufficient enough not only label yourself a raw foodist, but also enough to make significant changes in your overall health and wellness.

Additionally, many raw foodists are not necessarily vegan or even vegetarian. There are those who also consume raw meat, as well as raw milk and other raw dairy products. The focus here is not about labels, but rather about improving and maintaining optimal health.

If we can agree with the belief that food is the most powerful drug we put in our bodies, why not make it count?

If you are making a change change, realize that any change is an adjustment. Give yourself time to adjust. You have, most likely, had a habitual pattern of eating a certain way for quite some time. It takes a while to create new habits. Just know that the rewards of becoming a raw foodist, to whatever degree you decide to go, are well worth the effort. Some of the most commonly reported benefits of 'going raw' are:

  • Weight loss
  • Improved sleep
  • Increased energy
  • Improved skin appearance
  • Improved digestion
  • Risk of heart attack and / or cardiovascular disease are significantly reduced
  • Cholesterol and lipid levels return to and stay within healthy range

You should expect to experience symptoms of detoxification when relocating to an all raw diet. This is both natural and necessary and the symptoms will pass as the body rifts itself of toxins.

Common detoxification symptoms include:

  • Headaches
  • Food cravings
  • Bloating and / or stomach pains
  • Skin breakouts
  • Diarrhea and / or constipation
  • Irritability
  • Trouble sleeping, nightmares
  • Congestion or feeling as though you're catching a cold
  • Fatigue, drowsiness, low energy levels

The important thing to remember is that any symptom you may encounter will certainly pass. Typically, most do not last very long either.

Those who already practice a vegetarian or vegan diet, or any diet low in processed foods and sugars, will normally experience significantly less detoxification symptoms than those living on mainly fast foods.

Eating a all-raw or mostly raw vegan diet does require careful planning. Dining out is more of a challenge as well. However, once you take into consideration the amazing benefits of this type of eating plan, the gift of optimal health may indeed be worth the effort.

Methods Used to Diagnose Acid Reflux Disease

My heart is on fire. Now I know when we hear those words there are a lot of thoughts that come to mind like- different song titles and lyrics, pick up lines, pure love. But let me tell you what comes to my mind acid reflux disease. If you are having lots of heartburn a doctor can tell you if you have acid reflux.

Doctors will confirm the diagnosis by using special medications that will suppress the production of the acid that the stomach produces. If the medication helps to decrease the severity of the heartburn than the diagnosis has been confirmed. Diagnosing acid reflux disease this way is not always effective.

Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy

Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy is one of the most common methods to diagnose acid reflux disease. During this procedure a tube – that is built with an optical system – is swallowed by the patient. Doctors will examine the lining of the stomach, esophagus, and duodenum as the tube works its way through the body.

This procedure is not effective on patients whose esophagus looks normal even though they might have acid reflux disease and the symptoms associated with it. Those who have an inflamed esophagus make it a very clear diagnosis for doctors.

Gastric Emptying Studies

These studies help doctors to determine how well a patient’s body can empty food from their stomach. Health studies show that 20% of patients who have acid reflux disease will have a stomach that empties everything out slowly – which is why the acid is being refluxed to the esophagus.

During these gastric studies the patient will eat a meal that is considered to be made up of radioactive substances. The doctor will place a Geiger counter over the patient’s stomach to measure how quickly the substance inside of the meal is being emptied from the stomach.

Acid perfusion test

This test is used to see whether or not the chest pain that the patient is experiencing is being caused by acid reflux. During the test the doctor will feed a thin tube through one nostril and down through the back of the throat until it reaches the middle of the esophagus.

A dilute, acid solution will be poured alternately with a normal salt solution through the tube and into the esophagus. The patient will not be told which solution will be poured first. If the acid solution causes the patient pain and the salt solution does not than the patient has acid reflux.

Knowing More About Sinus Cyst

Does your nose drip continuously, making it hard to breathe? Is your sense of smell not as sharp as it used to be? If so, then it’s possible that you have a sinus cyst.

But there is no need to panic. Having a sinus cyst is fairly common. In fact, according to studies, they are present in as many as 10 percent of healthy individuals. Fortunately, most of sinus cysts are benign. For some, they might not feel any symptoms at all, while others may feel facial pain or difficulty in breathing.

Sinus cysts, or more popularly known as nasal polyps, are soft and pearl-colored growths that develop in the lining of the sinuses. They can form in singles or in multiples that are clustered together. They are usually caused by a prolonged inflammation of the nasal passages. Symptoms of allergies and asthma can also lead to polyp formation.

When polyps are small, they don’t usually cause any problems. People are only alerted of their existence when they start to experience the symptoms. Below are some of the signs you can watch out for:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Difficult to breathe through the nose, leading to mouth breathing
  • Loss or reduced sense of smell
  • Stuffy and runny nose
  • Chronic sinus infection
  • Headaches
  • Snoring
  • Nasal discharge
  • Sensation of fullness in the face

Who is at Risk?

If you are suffering from any condition that causes inflammation of the sinuses, then you are at risk of developing sinus cysts. Some of the conditions include chronic sinusitis, cystic fibrosis and allergic fungal sinusitis. People who are sensitive to aspirin or non steroidal anti-inflammatory medications are also most like to develop sinus cyst. Age is another factor. Sinus cysts are more likely to show up on people over 40. Children below 16 who exhibit the symptoms of having sinus cyst, should be tested for cystic fibrosis.

Can Sinus Cysts Be Prevented?

To prevent formation of sinus cysts, it is necessary to treat the underlying conditions and manage the symptoms. Here are some guidelines that we can follow:

  • For people who suffer from asthma, allergies or chronic sinusitis, avoid indoor and outdoor allergens to reduce nasal congestion.
  • Treat bacterial infection by undergoing antibiotic treatment.
  • Control allergies through intake of antihistamines.
  • Saline nasal irrigation is extremely helpful in relieving nasal congestion and eliminating mucus.

What are the Treatment Options?

The most common treatment for sinus cysts is corticosteroids. It is either injected directly onto the polyp or sprayed in the locality to reduce the cysts temporarily. However, side effects include nose bleeds, headaches or sore throat.

Oral corticosteroids can also be prescribed. It is often taken for a few weeks only due to its severe side effects during long term use such as headaches, weight gain, upset stomach, mood changes and difficulty in sleeping.

If medication fails, surgery is also an option. Polypectomy cuts the polyps away using a suction device. Endoscopic surgery removes the polyps and opens the part of sinus where polyps tend to form. Both surgeries are outpatient procedures.

However, the treatment options mentioned do not offer any guarantee that you will be cyst-free. In fact, sinus cysts often return. This is why it is better to focus on prevention instead.

The Modern Vampire

Vampires of past tales have always been portrayed as scary monsters that are evil beyond belief. They were believed to be horrible creatures with no souls who preyed on humans without feeling. In all the past literature, such as Dracula, the 1987 novel from Bram Stoker, a vampire was an evil night hunter who drank human blood. A vampire was a murderer who not only killed people but stole their souls as well. They were the stuff of nightmares and horror stories.

In today’s world, vampires are seen in a much different light. Although many stories still portray vampires as evil horror story creatures, others project them in an entirely different way. Many vampires in the modern world are heroes and love interests in many stories. They no longer exist only to consume and destroy normal human beings, but are shown to be compassionate beings capable of intense feelings of love. No longer does the modern vampire appear to be soulless, but often they are portrayed to have many redeeming qualities.

Vampires of the past were often ugly misshapen creatures with long menacing fangs, sallow, pallid skin and sharp finger nails. They had extra ‘powers’ to enable them to attract human beings to them more easily, such as a hypnotizing gaze, enhanced strength, the ability to fly or turn into bats, and a single-mindedness that made them focus only on murdering their victims.

Today, the modern vampire can still have some of the enhanced powers of the old-fashioned vampires, but are not always portrayed as disturbing monsters. Fangs on the modern vampire are usually retractable or non-existent. The pallid complexion, in many modern cases, actually adds to the ‘beauty’ of the vampire’s appearance. The ability to turn into bats or fly has been replaced with speed and strength. In some modern vampires, they still may have the ability to hypnotize their human prey, but many modern vampires do not have this skill.

In many of today’s stories, vampires have turned into the hero of a story, rather than a villain. Vampires are often portrayed as ‘good’ beings, although they are still considered dangerous. In fact, often the appeal of a vampire hero is that he must often overcome his natural dangerous nature to enable him to be with his love interest. In many vampire romance stories, the danger aspect enhances the attraction of the hero for the audience. It is perceived that the vampire is willing to overcome any odds in order to be with their chosen love. This makes the vampire better than a human hero because he has to overcome so much more to be with the one he loves.

There are many stories and authors where the modern vampire has been advanced into a hero role rather than a monster. Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight saga, on of the most famous vampire romance books in today’s vampire market, depicts Edward and his family of vampires in just such a role. There are other vampire romance authors who also depict vampires in a good light. The Argeneau Series of vampire romance books by Lynsay Sands is another example of how the modern vampire has evolved into a hero. Other vampire romance authors depicting vampires as heroes include, Jeaniene Frost, Kimberly Raye, Kerrelyn Sparks and Michelle Rowan. Charlaine Harris, of True Blood fame, and L. J. Smith, author of The Vampire Diaries, have the vampires in their stories depicted as both good and evil.

If you are interested in vampire stories, you may be surprised at how the modern vampire has evolved. They are not always shown as monsters as they were in the past. Many modern vampire stories have the vampire depicted as the hero rather than the villain. Vampires in the modern world have become the stuff of romance rather than frightening soulless monsters.

Slow Leak

In God's world, everything can be used as an anology to His
Word. I'm using this small unassuming small leak in my tire
As an example of how if it is let go, can cause a spiritual

In this case, I'm comparing new tires to the Christian. When
They are new, all is well … until we run over that one small
Unsuspecting nail! It does not take much until that tire, or our
Faith in this instance, will start losing precious air. If it's left
Unattended, a little air will soon turn into a lot of air. Not only
Does the tire go flat, it will soon show wear and tear on the
Tread. Then the car will not steer straight and we have to
Compensate for that. If it's allowed to continue it will without
A doubt reak havoc, without a doubt will cause a wreck. All
This because of one little nail that we chose to ignore.

But, much like our Christian walk, if we pay attention to it
Going flat, we can ward off this trouble at the first signs. Our
Faith is very much like that tire that is crying out for attention
And do something before we have a spiritual wreck!

For instance, once we run over the nail of compromise we
Will start losing air. Like what exactly? One of the largest
Compromises we as Christians use is; "I do not need to go to
Church. I already know Jesus, that is all I need. Church is not
What is important anyway. I can praise God at home. "

Even though going to church or not will not determine our
Entrance into heaven, it still hurts our Father when we do not
Go. Our attendance is not about us, not about how we feel
But instead it's all about Him. Once we commit ourselves to
This body of Christ, we become a unit. The body will suffer
From us not being there, and it will hurt everyone in the long
Run. Let me explain this further.

Once we turn our backs on God and His family, we start
Heading for a total break down. Just as our vehicle requires
4 good tires, a church also needs it's congregation to keep it
Running in good spiritual condition. Once we stop going, the
Rest of the congration can not operate the way God wants
It to. Our compromises will begin to hurt others and
Ourselves. The truth is, going to church is not about having
Our own personal needs met. It has nothing at all to do
About us. It does not matter if the choir is too big or too small
Or sings old songs or new songs or if the pastor speaks
About things too long or not long enough. It also does not
Matter if the church is big and fancy or if it's just a small
Meeting place. None of this matters! But the thing that does
Matter is that we make Christ the air in our tires. Once He
Leaks out, He has no where else to go but away from us.
But, going to church for the main reason to praise God and
To edit our church family is just like plugging the leak in the

1 Cor. 12: 14-26 speaks about the importance of every body
Part. We can not operate adequately without the other parts.
If we are not doing our part in the body of Christ, we are
Heading for a big flat tire! You must understand that no
Matter how unimportant you think your part is, consider what
God sees. None of it is any less important.

How does this mitigate begin? Just like the unseen
Nail, it begins with one small lie from the enemy. Satan is
The father of lies … all of them. There are 4 big ones that he
Told Eve and he's still spreading them onto us today. Are you
Going to listen to him?

Lie no. 1. Gen. 3: 1, Satan implies to Eve that God is not loving
By telling her that she can not eat from the Tree of Life. Satan
Desires her to believe that God does not share everything. He
Instills doubt in her mind. All lies begin with doubt. But, once
You are strong in the Word and the Truth, this nail of doubt
Will not take the air out of your tire.

Truth: Gen. 2:16, God commanded them to eat "freely" of
Every tree. There are many scriptures that allow us to know
Just how much God loves us. Psalm 37: 4 says God will give
Us the desires of our heart. Psalm 84:11 says no good thing
Will He withhold from the upright. 1 Timothy 6:17 says to not
Trust in uncertain riches but in God who gives us richly ALL
Things to enjoy. These are just a few.

Lie no. 2 Gen. 3: 2-4, Satan desires Eve to believe that God is
Not truthful. Here he puts skeptacism in her head. She
Wonders if she in fact will die or not. Once doubt is instilled,
The questions create a larger leak in our faith.
Truth: God can not lie.

Lie no. 3 Gen. 3: 4, Now Satan desires Eve to believe God is not
Righteous. He convinces Eve that God would not judge her.
Truth: God has to judge us. He can not overlook sinfulness.
Satan is good at telling half truths because they are still lies.
Satan wanted Eve to think that God would overlook her
Disobedience with a mere slap on the wrist. Surely He
Would not follow through with His promise of what would
Happen if she did eat from the Tree of Life. If God were not
Righteous that would mean the 10 Commandments would
Just be good advice. But, they are law both then and NOW.
There is a penalty for breaking them … death!

Lie no. 4 Gen. 3: 4-5, Satan seduced Eve into believing that
God was not gracious. He still tells us the same old lies
Today by convincing us that we do not need God. He tells us
That we need only be 'like a god.' By believing Satan when
He tells us that God only cramps our style. Today we hear
Secular advertisements that say, "If it feels good ~ do it!" And
"Try it, you'll like it!" Satan weakens us by taking the air out of
Our tires with these secular lies. He wants us to believe that
We are as gods and do not need the One who is in charge
Over life everlasting. We do not need to believe in a Savior.
His lies are very smooth, first seemingly unnoticable but
When left unnoticed, we are heading for a big blow out!
Truth: 1 Corin. 2: 9. Be like God. We will have relationship
With Him, He prepares things for us when we have that.

The glorious news is that God put a plug in Satan's
Puncture. Gen. 3: 14-15, God prophesies Satan's demise.
This came true when Christ redeemed our lives upon the
Cross at Calvary. Also in Rev. 12: 9-11, Satan is overcome by
The blood of the Lamb.

For those of you who do not want a flat tire of faith, you will
Heed these words of Christ in Revelation 3: 3 when He
Says, "Remember therefore what you have received and
Hear; And keep it, and repent. If therefore you will not wake
Up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour
I will come upon you. "

In hearing and keeping the Words of the Living God, we will
Repent for sins that only His Son Christ can and has paid for.
It's nothing we can ever do for ourselves. Once we realize
We have a slow leak, we can put a plug in it and be good as
New. Satan can not penetrate our faith. Ask yourself today,
Are you an important member of the body of Christ, are you
Blessing others to be a blessing in return? This is what
God sees. Do not be cut off guard by that insideous nail.
Put a plug in it today.

Christian fellowship is essential to spiritual growth.
