Most people are heavily influenced by the advertising industry. There is nothing wrong with finding out the best products that are available through advertising. But critical thinking must be used . It will prevent us from buying a product that can harm rather than help us.

The constant barrage of advertising from companies in the personal hygiene business has made us a nation of body washers, and odor deodorizers. Much of our time is spent trying to smell good. Households are full of body cleansing agents, and perfumes. Showering at least once a day is a must. Those that miss their daily shower are called smelly. But the human body if left alone is free of bad odors. Telling a person that they have body odor is the worst insult that can be given. The offended person will quickly find the nearest shower, and scrub themselves until they bleed.

The human body does have a natural odor, but that odor is not unpleasant. There is no perfume in the world that can smell as sweet as human sweat. Its wonderful fragrance can’t be duplicated by the most sophisticated laboratories. Under arm odor can also become a delight if sniffed with an open mind and nostrils. There is absolutely no part of the body whose smell can’t be accepted and appreciated. It is not even necessary to shower in order to smell good. The most useful part of showering is the nice feeling that you get when the water tingles against your skin. Otherwise showering or bathing is a waste of precious water. It is not even hygienic because it dries out the natural oils in the body and causes dry skin and itching.

Those that are in the business of pedaling personal hygienic products are doing the public a great disservice. They are causing people to feel that they smell bad. This is wrong because it is a lie. The body nature gave us smells nice, and it doesn’t need deodorizing. I hate the odor of foul smelling chemicals like perfume, it makes me throw up, but I love the odor of people, it never got me sick. The whole Earth has a pleasant fragrance including its human population and the idea that humans need deodorizing smells bad.

The Benefits of the Scientific Method of Dream Interpretation

Anyone can learn how to interpret their own dreams with the scientific method of dream interpretation, which is the unique method that exactly translates dream messages, giving information and guidance to the dreamer.

In order to properly interpret your dreams, you only have to learn the basic dream symbols and the way you consider your dreams when you try to decipher their enigmatic message.

I continued Carl Jung’s research into the unknown region of the psyche through dream interpretation, discovering the wild side of the human conscience and the meaning of many more symbols, which made the complicated scientific method very simple.

Jung didn’t know many things; this is why he was obscure on so many points. So many, that in the beginning I couldn’t understand a word of what he was saying… I had to read his books many times and take notes of my dreams every day in order to understand his method.

My simplification is due to the fact that I know very well what the wise unconscious mind that sends us dreams is talking about.

The main subject of all dream messages is the fight against craziness. The unconscious mind is always trying to help our human conscience fight against the anti-conscience; the primitive and violent conscience that tries to destroy the human side of our conscience through craziness.

Knowing this basic fact, dream interpretation becomes a very well defined translation.

Jung was never clear. There were many unexplained points in his statements. However, he did explain very well a few other points, and on these he was correct. He really is a genius to have discovered the exact way to translate dream messages.

He discovered the correct translation but he didn’t trust it enough. He had many doubts and fears, and so he didn’t continue the research.

With my simplification of his method, you simply look at your dream the same way that you look at a document written in another language. You translate the symbolic language into words that your conscience can understand and this way you can see what the unconscious is showing you.

Your dream is a representation. Suppose someone could not tell you in words what they wanted to, but could only use slides. This is what the unconscious mind does with the images you see in your dreams.

When someone tries to tell us something without using words, the number of possibilities about which they could be talking, are infinite. Without some sort of reference point, things are too hard to be guessed at.

When you try to guess the message, you ask the person to give you a clue. You ask them to tell you some feature or attribute, such as where you can find it, how it is used, and so on. Without knowing anything about what you are trying to guess at, you will never be able to find the correct answer.

If however, you do have a basic attribute, you have more chance of easily finding the correct answer. The more you know about what you are trying to discover, the easier your research becomes.

Usually the unconscious mind shows you the mistakes you make by following only one side of your personality and only one psychological function, as well as having another side only half-developed.

Jung knew that, but he didn’t take the unconscious warnings as seriously, and he thought that, ultimately, the human conscience should decide what the human being needed to do, even if it meant he ignored the advice of the unconscious.

He was wrong, because the human side of our conscience is also illogical, due to the existence of our ego, which connects the human side of our conscience to the wild anti-conscience. Our human conscience needs psychotherapy in order to be completely developed and eliminate the ego.

So, now you know the basic theme of your dreams.

I have already given you many lessons about dream interpretation and even the translation of many dream symbols in my previous articles.

Start writing down your dreams and compare them. Only when you write them down will you understand their mysterious messages and verify how true they are in your own daily life.

You’ll see that you must trust the unconscious mind, even when you don’t agree with what it is telling you. For example, you want to buy a house and you are very excited because you believe that this house is exactly what you need. However, the unconscious sends you many negative dreams about the house. What must you do?

Ignore the warnings? Or pay attention to the warnings and lose a good opportunity?

If the opportunity really was going to be good for you, the wise unconscious mind would not have shown you that there were problems with it.

You will see something that confirms the unconscious’ wisdom in the future, and you’ll be able to verify that you were protected when your unconscious stopped you from buying the house. You will see that, at the time, you ignored many things about the vendor of the house and its previous owners.

This is a very simple example, to show you that you must always follow the unconscious’ guidance, because the unconscious mind is wise and is always trying to protect you from craziness and despair, while your human conscience is quite absurd in many ways and ignores many things.

What Is Anxiety And Panic Disorder?

Panic disorder is actually an anxiety disorder which is brought on by recurring severe panic attacks. It can also include behavioral change lasting up to a month. This can be because of an ongoing worry or concern about having other attacks. Panic disorder is thought to be associated with agoraphobia, but they are not the same. Although, people who suffer panic disorder can also suffer from agoraphobia.

Signs And Symptoms Of Panic Attack

Panic disorder can be a disabling disorder, and can be controlled and successfully treated. Because of the severity of symptoms it may be mistaken as a life threatening physical illness such as heart attack. This misconception can aggravate or trigger more attacks. People have been known to go to a hospital emergency room when they are having a panic attack, as they do not know they are suffering from a disorder. It usually progresses from early adulthood, around half of all people who suffer panic disorder develop the condition before they are 24y.o. especially if the person has had a traumatic experience. However, the the majority of young people affected for the first time have been found to be between the ages of 25 and 30y.o. Women are twice as likely as men to develop an anxiety and panic disorder.

Medication can be used to treat anxiety and panic disorder. Most people who suffer, are usually provided with an anti-depressant to help block symptoms. A combination of psychotherapy and medication can often produce good results and help reduce the condition and symptoms.

I know what it is like. I suffered with anxiety disorder for over 30 years. I was using an anti-depressant called zoloft, that enabled me to carry on a normal functioning lifestyle.

I did find one that excelled, called panic away, it shows how to deal with the most common cause of panic attacks, the “Fear Of Having Another Panic Attack”.

If you can overcome the fear of having another attack, you can eliminate further attacks. I know this may seem like a simplified and obvious observation but if you give it careful consideration, the one thing that has you searching for a solution to anxiety and panic attacks this very moment is the fear of having another one.

Joba Chamberlain – Media Misperceptions and Poor Circumstances

Joba Chamberlain is having an atrophic season. There's no getting around it. With a 5.79 ERA at the All-Star break, the Yanks' appointed set-up man has implicated on himself like a collapsing star too many times this year. But ask the sports media what's wrong and they'll tell you he needs to show more emotion. He needs to have the pitcher with the football player mentality who performs on raw energy and pumps his fist whenever he strikes someone out. These of course are empty words vomited out from an industry that continues to grow in the business of talking a lot but saying nothing.

Go back to last year during the postseason. Most media experts were ecstatic over Joba's sterling 2.84 ERA out of the bullpen in the playoffs. They were captivated by his abundance of fist pumps. "See," they said. "He's back. This is the Joba we've been missing for the past year. Joba belongs here in the bullpen because he's a full-throttle, pedal-to-the-floor type pitcher." Appropriately, a grand total of 6 and 1/3 innings out of the pen confirmed this.

Forget the blown save in game 4 of the World Series. Forget the fact that in 4 of his other 9 postseason outings last year, Joba left the game with runners on base in the middle of an inning. 3 of those 4 times, he left with a runner in scoring position. And how many of those runners ended up scoring? None. That's right, through the entire plays, not one runner that Joba left on base when he exited the game scored. A tribute to whoever came in after Joba (Phil Coke, Damaso Marte, and Mariano Rivera) more so than Joba. But this is not what we were told. We were told Joba is back. A 2.84 ERA in the playoffs! Whooo! Yeah! Nevermind the fact that if just one more runner that Joba had left on base would have scored, his ERA in the small sample size of just 6 and 1/3 innings would have soared to 4.26. If two runners had scored, it would have climbed to 5.68. Surely no one would have been claiming Joba as a surefire bullpen stud, as was the case this off-season. The point here is that a 5.68 ERA in 6-plus inns pitched does not mean anything – and neither does a 2.84 ERA. But do not tell that to the New York Media. As long as Joba was pumping his fist on the mound, this meant he was performing at his peak.

Flash forward to 2010. Joba has a 5.79 ERA more than halfway through the season – and I've seen him pump his fist several times. So what's happening? Why is not Joba's fist pump making him the best set-up man in the league? What is not working? It must be his emotions, right? It must be that he needs to have the adrenaline-junkie on the mound that just throws the ball and uses superior velocity no matter what the location to get guys out. Again, this is what we are told by the media. It has nothing to do with Joba's inability to PITCH. Not to throw, but to PITCH. It could not be the fact that he leaves most of his pitches up and right over the middle of the plate way too often. Nor could it be that his mechanics are inconsistent. No, it could not possibly be anything so reasonable.

Joba Chamberlain does have tremendous talent. And that is why, in my mind, he could become one of the great tragedies in recent Yankee memory. Not that he will not be an excellent closer or middle reliever for the rest of his career – anything is possible with raw talent like his. And keep in mind, he is only 24. But again, go back to last season. Everyone's expectations were so high for Joba as a starter that we failed to see the big picture. We refused to settle for the fact that last year was a development year for Joba as a starter, not a year where he was invited to lead the team to a World Series Championship as the Ace of the staff. He had some great outings, some poor outings, some mediocre outings, and the inconsistencies that plague every young pitcher. But instead of acknowledging this, too many media members just pointed to Chamberlain's inconsistencies as confirmation that he's not good enough to be a starter.

Yet many forget where Joba was before he collapsed in the last two months of the 2009 season. After his July 29 win over the Rays, Joba was 7-2 with a 3.58 ERA. Let's give these numbers some perspective. At that point in the season, AJ Burnett was 10-4 with a 3.53 ERA; Andy Pettitte was 8-6 with a 4.67 ERA; And CC Sabathia was 10-7 with a 3.83 ERA. Now the counter-argument to this would go something along the lines of, "What really matters is how you do over the course of an entire season." And this argument is very true. But let's provide some more perspective here: Joba was a 23 year old kid last year, in his first full season as a starter, in the American League where there is a DH, and in the AL East, the best division in baseball.

Many things could have caused Joba to finish the season poorly. His routine was severely meddled with in terms of days off between starts and pitch count and so on. Maybe because he's young and has not pitched that many innings in the past, fatigue hit his body and his arm, and he unraveled from there. But late season fatigue is something that happens to young pitchers often, and it is certainly not a good reason to give up on someone as a starter.

This is why Joba's career could end up being a tragedy. Because any other team in baseball would have been thrilled to have a 23 year old pitcher with raw talent like Joba's. They would have seen his poor and mediocre performances last season and said, "So what? He's inconsistent as most young pitchers tend to be." They would have also seen his flashes of brilliance and said to themselves, "This kid has some serious potential." They would have developed their young pitcher. They would have given him the time to develop a third and fourth pitch, to work on location, to learn pitch sequences and approaches, to learn how to battle deep into games and without his best stuff. Simply, they would have given him time to learn how to pitch. There's no guarantee that Joba would have been a stud as a starter. Last season, there were signs that pointed in both directions. But at his age and with his talent, it would have been interesting to see how he could have developed as a starter.

I'm not knocking the Yankees' decision to put Joba in the pen. They had the resources to purchase four starting pitchers and develop just one young talent, Phil Hughes. The "win now" mentality has room for one young pitcher in a starting rotation, but not two. Believe me, most of the time this is a good thing for the Yankees. And it was the right move to put Joba in the pen. The only problem is that Joba was still developing. He was still learning to pitch, still working on adding a curveball and a change-up. When is he going to work on these pitches now? When is he going to throw these pitches in live game situations? Especially considering it is only used in important junctures of games where results are all that matter. Does anyone really think he's going to be pitching in a game against the Red Sox, up 3.2 in the eighth inning, and say to himself, "Well maybe I should throw a change-up here, just to get experience throwing the pitch . " Of course not.

When you're a starter, you are forced to really focus on pitching – accuracy, movement, pitch-sequence. You can not get deep into games if you do not. You are forced to throw all of your pitches. You are given more situations to throw all of your pitches. In the pen it's a much different circumstance. You do not need to rely on having more than two pitches. You can get away with not pitching well more often than as a starter. You can get away with only having one pitch work on a given day because by the time the other team figures out you can only control one pitch, you've already done your job and are sitting in the dugout. This is not true as a starter. The opposing hitters will be on to you by the third innning if they smell blood, and you'll be out of the game early as a pitcher if you can not correct yourself in a hurry. As is the case in any sport, the more exposure there is to an athlete, the more that athlete's flaws are revealed. The best athletes, and the ones who last over time, are the ones who have multiple facets to their game, the athletes that have more options to rely on in their repertoire.

What we're seeing right now with Joba is that he's getting away with nothing out of the pen. This really shows you how poor his ability to pitch this year has been. So the question must be asked; Has the learning stopped for Joba out in the bullpen? Has his growth been overthrown? Surely he could still become a great relief pitcher or closer in his career. But the thought remains that maybe Joba would have a greater arsenal had he given more time to develop as a starter. Maybe he'd have more options if one pitch was not feeling good in a particular outing. Maybe he'd be more precise with his pitches and have more ways to attack hitters. Ultimately Joba's development is a victim of circumstance in the Yankees' world of "win now." This world where fans and media members judge you based on 6 and 1/3 innings of baseball; And this world where Yankees management often responds to those judgments.

Give Me Knowledge

Hey I bet you would like some more information, not just any information real solid information you can use. It seems these days there are so many places and ways to get information that many people are informationed out. Since you are reading this article, while I’ll be you typed into the search engine; “Give Me Knowledge” and do you know why you instinctively wrote that? Do you.

Well it is because you are tired of the same old information and news, you want more substantive data and information. What you want is either wisdom, because you are beyond the news, sports and weather or you want knowledge, real knowledge, not opinion or conjecture but real world knowledge that you can use to better yourself and those around you. The thirst for knowledge is obviously something you possess or you would not have asked the question.

Now one would suppose that asking the question is the first step; “Give me Knowledge?” Indeed this is one of the first steps to acquiring knowledge, but another key ingredient is to get with others who also feel the same, like in a think tank or perhaps an online forum where others who are well versed in many endeavors are also seeking wisdom and knowledge. Do you possess some wisdom or some knowledge in a particular endeavor, would you like to share that in trade to learn from others? If so may be you have read the right article indeed then. Think on this in 2006.

Help! My Chest Won’t Grow

It is a common fault in most gyms. Young guys starting on a weights program with the sole ambition to build a well defined chiseled chest. They start each chest program with the bench press punching out 4 sets before they move onto flys, pec deck, dips and finish up with push ups. Sixteen + sets of chest exercises with little or no results except for pain and tenderness in the front of the shoulders.

So what has gone wrong and why is pain present?

Before we address these questions we need to understand the anatomy of the chest muscles. The chest muscles are made up of the pectoralis muscles which are divided into three bundles.

  • Upper chest which attaches to the clavical and is known as the clavicular portion
  • Central chest which attaches to the sternum
  • Lower chest

The chest muscles have multiple functions which include moving the arms forward to hug your girlfriend or wife to moving your arms above your head with your fingers pointing to the sky. The chest muscles also allow you to rest your hands on your thighs from a standing position. With this much movement and activation of the chest it is imperative that all angles are exploited when you commence a chest program.

One of the biggest problems with young gym enthusiasts is they train their chest repetitively through the same plains of motion which causes stress and excessive pressure to particular chest bundles. For example, their chest program always starts with bench press followed by pec deck and then machine flys. The problem with repetitive sets of these exercises is the pressure it places on the pectoralis minor which is situated just below the pectoralis major. Delavier and Gundill (2010) note that the pectoralis minor muscle is a stabiliser for the shoulder and may cause pain in people who do repetitive plains of movement like repetitive sets on the bench press. They also state that tendinitis in the pectoralis minor can easily be confused with shoulder pain because of its location. This explains why so many gym enthusiasts who overtrain chest have shoulder related pain.

Is the Bench Press then the best exercise to build a chiseled chest?

Rocha Junior et al (2007) state that the bench press is a good starting point for some people wanting to build their chest however it is not for everyone. Scientific studies by Welsch et al (2005) showed that the deltoid muscles in the front of the shoulders had greater activation with the bench press then it did in the pectoralis major. Delavier and Gundill (2010) build on this premise by noting that poor recruitment of the pectoralis major could be why the deltoid muscles are activated more during the bench press. They state that some people including young gym enthusiasts are not natural bench pressers and thus need some time to work on motor recruitment by only focusing on recruiting the pectoralis major and not activating the shoulders or arms (Delavier and Gundill, 2010). The best exercises for these types of people to focus on pectoralis recruitment is straight arm bench flys with dumbells.

Other Obstacles that Stop your Chest from Growing

It is important to understand that a persons chest muscles are generally under utilised on a day by day basis. Unless you are in the habit of bench pressing your children or hugging and squeezing your girlfriend regulary throughout the day, you hardly use your pectoralis muscles at all especially if you are not regulary training in the gym. This may explain why young inexperienced gym goers have underdeveloped pec muscles or struggle to feel their pec muscles working when they start out on a chest program. Therefore jumping straight in with a heavy workload on the chest with little experience is a sure fire way to a long term injury and over developed and tender stabilising muscles.

Another problem is the excessive recruitment of the shoulders and arms during most chest exercises which reduce the effectiveness of the pec muscles working. Barnett et al (1995) agree noting that under utilised chest muscles become a bigger problem especially if you are trying to lift heavy. This is particularly evident during a heavy set on the bench press when form starts to deteriorate thus forcing the shoulders and arms to intervene at the detriment of the chest muscles.To overcome this problem, Delavier and Gundill (2010) state that you must feel your chest muscles working by undetaking a sensitization process that focuses on isolation exercises. These types of exercises include convergent machines that work unilaterally so you can improve your mind chest muscle connection.

A second solution they discuss identifies the perception of failure as a limiting factor. Over committing to a rep especially when you are exhausted does nothing to grow your chest. Haykowsky et al (2003) agrees noting that fatigue not only makes your form deteriorate during the bench press or the bench fly but your chest becomes less and less involved in the movement.

Another obstacle that may restrict chest growth especially in the clavicular chest bundles occurs when the pectoralis major tendon is located very high on the arm (Delavier and Gundill, 2010). Delavier and Gundill (2010) state that high pectoralis major tendon on the arm restricts the ability to stretch the clavicular bundles of the chest which inhibits activation of the upper chest and thus requires greater recruitment of the lower pecs or the shoulders. They argue that it is nearly impossible to recruit the clavicular bundles with a high pectoralis major tendon by doing compound exercises like bench press. The best exercise for high pectoralis tendon muscles is the opposing cable pulleys (Delavier and Gundill, 2010).

By understanding these limiting factors, I hope you have a better understanding as to why you may be struggling to grow your chest. Just lifting weights multiple times with your mates doesn’t assure you of a well defined chest. Mix up your routine and exercises and focus on activating the muscle bundles you want to train. Use good technique and only add extra load when you are comfortable and capable of lifting it and you are on your way to developing that chest you have always desired.

Grief – Life’s Test of Courage and Trainer of Faith

EVERYONE experiences grief of one kind or another consistently throughout life, and never more so than when we’re beset by conflict. But there is a kind of grief that blindsides us; the genus of which rips the heart out of our resolve, fear chiselling us down to our core, leaving us all alone, a fractured, wafer shell; the sort that forces such change that the old must go where a new man or woman emerges, delivered in writhes of death, paradoxically into life. Blessed abundance; an enigma.

One must lose oneself in fear to ultimately find oneself in faith.

Grief of the uncommon variety, that which does not occur in the daily swing of life, is life’s test of courage. And once we’ve been tested to such a Degree, we rise, having plummeted long and low enough, having been broken more than a few times against the rocks of our self-sufficiency, into courage. Having attained the Degree of testing, where testing is no longer a source of resentment, accepted as it only can be, we rise into life capable of Tenacity – because we can. For no other reason. No amount of reflection elucidates the matter more. Grief teaches us pragmatism. We learn to endure what we thought we couldn’t to know we can.

Grief that shreds us, that which drags us kicking and screaming from one comfortable reality to another, years apart, through excruciating experience, is the Trainer of Faith.

Nothing equips us for the realities of life better than a shredding grief. But it will take years for our potential, planted within a forest of pain, to bear fruit. See how grief trains faith. Only in patience do we ever realise that what we hope for is certainly coming. Grief is no waste. It contains something only life can teach us.

Ten Reasons To Get Sober This Year

Over 10 million adults in the United States are alcoholics, and more than 7.3 million either alcohol suspects or have experienced negative consequences of alcohol use such as arrest or involvement in an accident. If you're an alcoholic, or know someone who's an alcoholic, here are ten good reasons to give up alcohol.

1. Excessive amounts of alcohol makes you stupid. Research has shown that most alcoholics have diminished brain size and reductions in intellectual functioning. How much of this may be reversible is still in question, but one thing is for sure – continued use only exaserbates the problem.

2. It ruins your sex life. In a study of normal healthy men who received 220 grams of alcohol daily for 4 weeks, testosterone levels declined after only 5 days and continued to fall through the study period.

4. It can destroy your chances of creating a family. The reproductive consequences associated with alcohol abuse and alcoholism range from infertility and increased risk for spontaneous abortion, to impaired fetal growth and development

5. It can take a toll on your bone development. Research done Dr. Chakkalakal of the Omaha VA Medical Center in Nebraska describes how heavy drinking leads to bone loss, higher risk of fractures and slower healing of bone breaks.

6. It robs you of nutrients. The pancreas normaly secretes digestive enzymes but alcohol decreases these secretions. Alcohol also impairs nutrient absorption by damaging the cells lining the stomach and intestines and disabling transport of some nutrients into the blood.

7. It's hard on children. An estimated 6.6 million children under the age of 18 years live in households alcoholic households. Children from alcoholic families suffer higher levels of depression and anxiety, exhibit more symptoms of generalized stress, have lower self-esteem, and demonstrate more behavioral problems than do children from nonalcoholic families.

8. It effects your sleep. Sleep disorders associated with alcoholism include increased time required to fall sleep, frequent awakenings, and a decrease in subjective sleep quality associated with daytime fatigue.

9. It can harm the brain. Heavy drinking may have extensive and far-reaching effects on the brain. These effects range from simple memory lapses to permanent and debilitating conditions some of which require lifetime custodial care.

10. Nearly 20,000 people die each year from deaths caused by alcohol. And this number excludes those who die by alcohol related accidents and homicides.

What is a Tens Machine and How Do I Choose the TNS Machine?

Tens machines (pain machine), tns machine, basically exist in either of two forms, analog or digital. Almost all units have 3-4 major components to use to control pain. Those are:

* rate ( how many times the machine goes off and on per second – generally 1- 150 times)

* width ( when machine comes on how long does it stay on – measured in millionths of a second, and most tens units stay on from 50 to 350 millionths of a second)

* amplitude – power ( how much amperage/wattage being used so patient feels some sensation)

As long as those three controls exist then the units are pretty much the same but you want each of the above to be able to change independently by the patient. After those conditions are met then it becomes a choice of size, and for many what type display they want.

A digital display in a tens machine is simply a screen and as the buttons are pushed the picture on the screen changes and the patient can view what is changing. As an example if the patient pushes a button to go from a new “rate” to a new “width” the screen will show width on it and rate disappears. This is nice but for many the screen on the pain machines are too small and not easily seen so the patient does not want digital since the patient may not be able to see the small screen. Also many elderly patients were not brought up using digital devices so they prefer to use what they are familiar with, buttons to turn left and right to turn on, off, and adjust.

An analog tns machine is simply the same controls but the same results are accomplished by turning knobs, not pushing buttons. Analog tens does not have a screen and the patient simply turns the know and feels the difference. An example is a TV where for sound the patient is not interested in a note on the screen saying the volume is being turned up but they just want to hear the sound without being told the sound was turned up. The turning of the knob increases the volume and that is sufficient. Many older patients have used analog devices all their lives and that is their preference in a tens unit.

Of course most patients prefer small, easily carried units since tens is designed to be worn and carried on the body so size is important.
