Potential Reach:

Did you know that in 2013, there were about 3.2 billion email accounts created in the world? 95% of online consumers use an email address. The most interesting fact is; 91% of those consumers check their email accounts at least once a day. Today, we browse more with our phones than our computers. As a result, we are more easily notified when we receive emails. Our phones place the notifications right in front of our eyes.

Today, it is easier to check to an email than a Facebook or Twitter post. This is because when we post content, so does a million other people. As a result, finding one particular post you liked 3 weeks ago can be the most daunting task.

Actual Reach:

Before I explain this part in more detail, let’s get some interesting numbers. In the first half of 2013, a research conducted using emails as a marketing channel revealed some staggering facts. That leaves us with less than 130 people who are actually interested in our offers.

Click Through Rates:

In the previous point, we talked about what percentage of people who see and may like your posts and mails. Now let’s talk about people who actually complete the actions and do what you want them to do. Let’s say clicking on a link. This link may take them to a landing page or a website.

Click through rate is the percentage of people that receive your message and actually click on it. The click through rate of a tweet is 0.5 percent as opposed to 3% for an email. These numbers look small at first. But, this means that people click 6 times more on an email link than on a tweeted link.

Let’s keep on using our example of 1000 emails and 1000 social media posts. A 0.5% click through rate means per thousand, 5 people will actually click on your link. This is for social media. Sometimes the click through rates are higher, but those are particular cases. The numbers we use here are average ones.

A 3% click through rate with emails means 30 clicks per thousand. That is the best click through rate you will obtain on average. The numbers are not astounding, but efficient numbers are not always astounding. The difference is such because, when people give you their email addresses they actually want to hear more form you.

Most people use social media to communicate with friends first. Seldom are they used to receive business news and reviews. There are specialized websites for that. 77% of the users during a survey online said they prefer to receive promotional messages in their emails. 4% said they prefer these messages on social media. This speaks to the fact that by submitting an email, people are literally giving you a business meeting location.

Emails Are Private:

It is easier for a reader to express his problems in private than in the open. Everybody is not comfortable when it comes to expressing their shortcomings in the open. When a user wishes to express his struggles and he can’t meet with you, what does he do? He writes you an email. This way, he can tell you everything. You can answer specifically to him.

Choosing a Mastiff Puppy

So you have decided that you or your family are ready for a puppy, and the big, gentle, loving Mastiff is your dog of choice? The Mastiff can make a wonderful pet, however there are a few things you should consider before you commit to this breed.

Is a Mastiff Right For You?

Obviously the Mastiff is a very large dog, so you will need to ensure that you plan to engage your puppy in a dog training obedience school. This should be done almost as soon as you first take ownership of your new pet, because it will be essential to helping him or her learn the commands that will keep your home happy and peaceful. If you are not prepared to invest in training, then it is strongly recommended that you consider another breed over the Mastiff.

The Mastiff is also not the right breed for a guard dog. They may have the size, but their nature is not suited to being able to assess and alternate between aggressive and calm. The training of your Mastiff will need to be very consistent and clearly define how your puppy is to behave at all times.

If you have small children, again the Mastiff may not be the best puppy to choose. Even though your Mastiff may be perfectly trained, its sheer size and strength pose a risk that your children may get knocked over or frightened.

Another thing to consider is that the Mastiff will require a lot of exercise. They are no Greyhound, so you don’t necessarily need to be super fit and ready to take on a marathon, but you do need to have the time and ability to take your Mastiff for regular long walks. The Mastiff can therefore be quite a commitment for the modern busy family, needing to have regular companionship, long walks and an owner with lots of patience to provide them the level of ongoing training that they will require to grow up happy, secure and well-behaved.

Training Your Mastiff Puppy

It is strongly recommended that you do everything you can to ensure your Mastiff puppy has a good temperament and one way you can help to achieve this is to ensure that your puppy is not removed from his mother and litter too early. The socialisation that the puppy will receive at this time cannot be underestimated in his or her long-term development. Waiting till your puppy is at least 8-10 weeks of age will also ensure that he or she is not distressed when they come to their new home.

When he arrives home, you can commence training almost immediately. Be prepared to be calm and patient. Your Mastiff puppy will be very eager to please you, but it will take time and effort for him or her to fully develop an understanding of the commands issued and what they mean.

Your Mastiff Puppy at Home

Puppy school is generally weekly, but your Mastiff will require reinforcement every day of the skills and commands he or she has been shown. Because your Mastiff requires a lot of company, it is recommended that new owners be home with their puppy for at least the first two months after the puppy has been brought home.

During this time you should set up a schedule which involves at least an hour of walking for your puppy per day, more if you can manage it, at least one social outing for your puppy and at least two sessions of basic command training. Use this time to reinforce all the basic commands that your puppy has learnt in training from all the previous weeks.

Social outings for your puppy can be collecting the kids from school if you walk, seeing and playing with other dogs in the park, playing with your kids friends and of course puppy training. A great idea is to set up a “puppy’s mothers group” with a few of the other people in your area who attend the puppy school. Meet up once a week to let the puppies have a play.

Owning a Mastiff can be very rewarding if you are committed to helping your puppy be trained, social and well exercised.

How To Stop Worrying About Your Health

Stop worrying! It doesn’t do you any good. There’s worrying and then there’s WORRYING. As you get older it’s only natural to become concerned about certain aspects of your health. Your body starts to feel a little creaky and you’re not as flexible as you used to be. Not only that, you know so many people who have had heart attacks or strokes or skin cancer and so on.

Your awareness of the possibility of illness and disease has been triggered, be it through first-hand experience or otherwise. But should this be cause for WORRY, as opposed to a “healthy” concern? It is natural as well to worry more, as you get older, about everything, not just your health.

You are only born with two fears, those of loud noises and falling. But these types of fears are not the same as the types of worries which I am talking about. A fear is caused by a perception of imminent threat. The worries I am referring to are those ones which you toss and turn, rip apart and “chew” over; those things which go over and over and over in your mind and you just won’t let them go, even though you know logically that you have no real cause to worry. That’s what I mean by WORRYING.

My mum is a WORRIER. She worries about everything. As a grown up child you do everything in your power to make life easy for your parents and to ensure that they have nothing to worry about. You want them to be relaxed and comfortable and to enjoy life. You want to help them to stop worrying; but they do worry. And the thing they worry about most is usually you. You don’t worry about you; they worry about you and then you worry about them worrying about you!

Some people though do have a very specific worry about their health, often with no real substantial reason. They become convinced that something awful is going to happen to them. This is often the case with a person who has suffered from anxiety attacks, or panic attacks. The symptoms of the panic attack are so real, that you think you are going to at the very least have a heart attack or a stroke, or more likely die right there on the spot.

The thing is that if you start to worry about your health you will start noticing things about your body which you didn’t notice before. You will notice that you feel hotter than normal, or that your breathing is quicker, or that your skin is blotchy and as you focus upon these things they become more and more obvious to you. And as they become more obvious those “symptoms” get stronger, and a whole cycle of effect is triggered.

You go to the doctor and have a check up and you receive a clean bill of health. Do you believe your doctor? Some people are sufficiently reassured to release their worry. Revolutionary Treatment Gives Hope For the Chronly Ill

Low dose naltrexone has recently garnered attention as a possible treatment for autoimmune diseases, neurological conditions, cancer and some other illnesses. Naltrexone is an opiate antagonist, which means that it blocks opioid receptors in the brain and thus eliminates the feeling of pleasure caused by eg drinking alcohol, because our endogenous opioids (endorphins) can not bind to the receptors. But when used in very small doses (less than 1/10 of the normal dose) naltrexone can be used to stimulate the release of endorphins.


Low dose naltrexone was pioneered by the neurologist Bernard Bihari in the early 1980s, when he was studying medications used for drug and alcohol withdrawal. He noticed that very small doses of naltrexone (initially 3 mg) taken at bedtime only blocked the opioid receptors transiently, which stimulated the body to produce more of its endogenous opioids and produced no significant side effects.

Bihari tested LDN as a treatment for HIV / AIDS and multiple sclerosis, two conditions that have been shown to be associated with low levels of beta endorphin, one of the most important endogenous opioids. In some of his AIDS patients the blood levels of beta endorphin as much as tripled when using low dose naltrexone.

Patients also experienced marked clinical improvement. The MS symptoms (especially fatigue) were relieved and the illness progress seemed to halt. Most patients never experienced a single MS attack after the initiation of low dose naltrexone. Patients infected with HIV had their viral counts drop radically and their CD4 counts were sequentially up. As a result the rates opportunistic infections and AIDS related malignancies decreed.

Later development

Encourage by his success Bihari and other doctors began trying LDN for other conditions, such as other autoimmune illnesses and cancer, often with great results. Mode of action

How it is used

LDN is taken every night between 9 PM and 3 AM, as the body produces most of its endorphins during the early morning hours. There are usually no side effects. Some people experience problems with sleeping during the first week. Nausea, feeling "high", gas and bloating and hunger pangs may occur in the beginning and usually go away in a few days. In patients with MS spasticity may transiently worsen. It may take anywhere between a day and a few months to notice improvement.

LDN can safely be taken with all other medications, foods or supplements, but because it is an opiate antagonist it can not be combined with any narcotic painkillers (opiates), including tramadol, and taking it with immunosuppressive drugs (like corticosteroids) may cause the drugs To "cancel out" each other's effects, as LDN is an immunostimulant. The only contraindication is a past organ transplant, because taking an immunostimulant may lead to graft rejection.

Any doctor can prescribe LDN as an "ex tempore" prescription, to be filled by a compounding pharmacy. Some people use foreign pharmacies, as it is legal in most countries to order medications from abroad with a valid prescription. LDN may be formulated as capsules or liquid, but the liquid has to be refrigerated and is less convenient when traveling. It is recommended that calcium carbonate is not used as a filler for tablets.

The recommended dose is 4.5 mg, but some people, especially those who are very slim and those with severe MS, only take 3 mg. Often prescriptions are written for 1.5 mg capsules so that the patient can try taking either two or three at once. LDN is also reliably inexpensive, usually costing between $ 15 and $ 40 a month.
