What Masturbation Will Do to You!

I would like to advise you to slow down if you have been masturbating heavily! The good it will do to you is just that moment when you are feeling the self-satisfaction. Have you for once asked yourself if there are any health implications or physical challenges associated with masturbation or what it can do to your future? If you have not, consider it a question worth asking! In this article, I will be listing some dangers or effects of masturbation, be sure to read and use them to project what you want your future to look like.

• Masturbation Will Make You Develop Low Self-Esteem

This is usually the first thing that will happen to you when you start masturbating. It follows with self-torture and regret for actions taken. When you masturbate, you are simply limiting the ergo in you; this is the reason why you feel so inferior before your mates or friends. Yes! You will start seeing yourself as a half man!

• It Will Result to Memory Loss

In case you have not heard, masturbation reduces your mental and reasoning abilities. If you are a student, you will usually be faced with the problem of concentration. Each time you want to read, your mind will begin to call up the images, porn movies and other related porn materials which you have accessed, thus making concentration a problem for you; even when you manage to read, it will not take time before you forget everything. Constant masturbation results to memory loss avoid it and be free today!

• It Will Distance You From God

The mentality you should have each time you masturbate is that you have wasted the semen required to multiply just as God instructed. God detests self-sex; if you cannot control it get yourself a wife and start doing the real thing with her. Always remember that it is your creator’s wish for you to be fruitful and multiply and not to waste your divine resources on some kind of self-killing sex.

• It Will Reduce Your Manhood

Manhood in this case is not the size of your penis; but your quality and ability to perform as a man. Too much masturbation results to quick ejaculation and production of watery sperm.

I am sure you don’t want any of the above to happen to you? Learn from them and get freed from masturbation!

TMJ Cured Finally

A few years ago I didn’t know what TMJ was. I had never heard of it. TMJ stands for Temporomandibular Joint disorder. So what does that mean?

Let me explain by telling you how I found out what TMJ was and how I freed myself from it.

Five years ago I was forced to take a different job where I work. I can’t say I was thrilled about it. In fact, I hated my new job. As the weeks went by, the stress got worse and I was really having a hard time dragging myself to work each day.

One evening, I was sitting in my recliner rubbing my forehead. My wife asked me if I had a headache again. I realized that I had been complaining about headaches a lot lately.

No big deal, I just took a few aspirin like always. But this time I took three instead of two because they just didn’t seem to be taking my headache away.

Finally I went to see my doctor. She told me I had a sinus infection and she gave me some antibiotics to clear it up. But after two weeks, the headaches were worse.

So, it was back to the doctor. This time she sent me for x rays of my head. Upon examination of the x rays, she again told me that I had a sinus infection. It was off to the drug store for stronger antibiotics.

Soon the headaches had become constant and grew continuously worse. I was having trouble concentrating on anything. I went to bed with a headache and woke up with a headache. It got to be like one of

those headaches you get when you eat ice cream to fast. Constant, terrible pain.

My wife went to the nearby health food store and they gave her some herbal something or other that would definitely clear up my sinus problem.

It didn’t. I tried melting Vicks Vapo Rub in a bowl of boiling water and breathing in the fumes to open my sinuses. No luck. My Dad who was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer even gave me some of his Darvocet tablets, which is an extremely strong pain medication.

I was taking Darvocet three and four at a time, to try to relive the pain. Nothing worked. Again, I went to my doctor and guess what she said the problem was. Yep, my sinuses. By now the pain had grown so bad, that I couldn’t go to work. I couldn’t do much of anything and the doctor sure wasn’t helping.

One night, after suffering for nine months, it got so bad that I almost past out from the pain. My wife loaded me into the car and drove me to the emergency room. I waited and waited and waited. Finally they examined me and said I needed a C.A.T Scan. I’m not sure what that is, but I sat there in pain until they got the results.

Then came the diagnosis. Sinus infection. I could have screamed! They did finally give me something for the pain. It helped a little but made me vomit.

The doctor that night in the emergency room, made an appointment for me for the following week with an ear, nose and throat specialist. Yep, I had to wait another week with the pain.

The specialist examined me and looked at my C.A.T. scan. He sat me down and asked me who told me that I had a sinus infection. I told him that everyone that had examined me said that’s what it was.

Then he laid it on me that I had TMJ. He said I had the cleanest sinuses he’d ever seen. No wonder, all the sinus medication I was taking.

He began to explain to me just what TMJ was. Temporomandibular disorder. He said TMJ was an acute inflammation of my temporomandibular joint. This is the area where the jaw connects to the skull.

The specialist laid out a plan to relieve the pain which, he said, might involve snipping some of the ligaments in my jaw. By now I would have tried anything. He scheduled me for the following week and gave me some medication that took the edge off the pain. But it was still there.

That same weekend I was talking to a friend of mine and I noticed he had one of those Q-Ray bracelets on. I asked him about it and he said he got it because of his arthritis. And that it really worked. Well, like I said, I would have tried anything.

My friend gave me the website to order a bracelet which cost me $100.00. I even paid extra for fast delivery. I knew this was going to be another disappointment but I was going to try it.

I took the bracelet out of the box and put it on my wrist. That was January 22, 2004. Several hours later, the pain was still there. Just as I thought, it didn’t work. But I kept the bracelet on and went to bed.

The next morning when I woke up to go to work, I realized that for the first time in nine months, I didn’t have a headache. No pain, nothing. It was gone. Completely gone. I woke my wife and was so excited, she couldn’t understand what was going on at first.

Not only was the pain gone, but I felt great. I wanted to jump up and down and tell everybody I saw that day that my headache was gone. I have had my Q-Ray bracelet on for over five years now. The TMJ is long gone.

Some people told me that those Q-Ray bracelets are bogus and it was all in my head. My response is always the same. I don’t know if it was psychological or not, all I know is that for nine months my headaches were so severe and untreatable that I think I actually was going crazy.

Let me say one more thing. I am in no way affiliated with the Q-Ray company. They don’t even know it but I’m there best salesman. When someone sees my bracelet and asks me if it really works, I tell them simply, I works for me. Thanks Q-Ray.

Are You Sick Or Just Detoxing?

Whenever someone I know is about to detox for the first time, the first question after “Are you sure this is gonna work?” always seems to be “Will this make me feel bad?” followed closely by “Will I have to take time off from work?”

My straight answer to all three is “It depends”.

And it does depend.

No two people are alike, nor do we live the same lifestyle or have the same level of toxicity in our bodies when beginning an internal detox program.

There are, however, some facts we all have in common.

Your body is detoxing all the time. Your liver, kidneys, lymph and skin continually process toxic wastes and eliminate them via urine feces and sweat. When the amount of toxins is greater than the speed at which your body can eliminate them, a cleansing reaction or “healing crisis” occurs. A healing crisis is fancy language for catching a cold or the flu. Most of us don’t generally choose to catch a cold. In fact, we’ll do just about anything to avoid getting sick. However, when you elect to detox using a cleanse kit, you voluntarily start a healing crisis and your body will react in kind.

Here’s what you can expect and how to make it go away faster.

Headache – The most common cleansing reaction. Caffeine withdrawal, in particular, plus the increase of released toxins causes muscles to constrict and tighten around the neck, shoulders and temples.

Remedy: Drink more water. Soak in a hot water tub. Light exercise. A cup of Chamomile or Mint tea, each have a soothing, settling effect on muscles and tension.

Backache – Since your intestines and colon reside in your lower abdomen, increased dietary fiber form larger bowel movements.

Full of toxins, stools are highly acidic and can cause temporary lower back pain as they are eliminated from your body.

Remedy: Stretching to loosen muscles, fruit juices have a laxative effect and will speed up bowel movements. Lower back pain associated with colon cleansing usually subsides after the 3rd or 4th day.

Light-Headedness – Dizziness is also a common cleansing reaction at the beginning of a cleanse as your body adjusts to the flood of toxins into the bloodstream.

Remedy: Increase water intake. Eat pieces of fruit like grapes, apples and/or pineapple. Take a break and stop moving until the dizziness passes. If the problem persists, cut back on the cleanse kit dosages and/or contact a health care provider.

Nausea – Stomach upset can be caused by a liver overburdened from processing toxic waste. It could just be something you ate, but when you’re cleansing, all your organs of detoxification are kicked into high gear.

Remedy: Carrot juice diluted with water, coffee enemas, and or mint tea.

Cold & Flu Symptoms – Runny nose, slight fever, scratchy throat, muscle aches and general fatigue.

Two or more of these symptoms at a time may mean you need to shift the detox into a lower gear to let your body process the toxic overload.

Remedy: Get plenty of rest. Drink plenty of fluids. Prolong the cleanse a few days by taking less fiber and/or herbs than the kit recommends. You will still get the same benefits, but with greater comfort.

Bad Breath/Smelly Odor- All humans are connected from mouth to anus by one continuous tube.

The old saying goes “you are what you eat”, but if what you eat is unusable, your body will either get rid of it or hide it in a place where it will cause the lease amount of harm.

During a detox those hiding places are destroyed. Putrid waste that has been festering in the dark comes to light and it doesn’t smell too good. Your breath and sweat may become a little fragrant.

Remedy: Brush your teeth often. Tongue scraping also helps. Suck on citrus fruit wedges (lemons, oranges), gargle with salt water or baking soda and water.

Emotional Changes – Depression is one of the first symptoms of sugar withdrawal. Cravings for sugar and complex carbs like pastries, bagels or cookies and the denial of those cravings can cause frustration, anger and hyper-sensitivity.

Remedy: Remove the offending item(s) from your view. Throw away or give your favorite sweets and carbs to a trustworthy neighbor to hold before you begin a cleanse so they won’t be a temptation.

If that’s not possible, eat a piece of dried fruit or drink a cup of tea sweetened with Maple syrup (grade B, if possible).

If you’re feeling particularly down, take a walk, pet your cat or dog or go see a funny movie.

Keep remembering why you choose to cleanse and think of all the amazing improvements in your health that you will be able to see, feel and smell in just a short time from now.

Is it Alzheimer’s Or is it CRS

CRS is, of course, an acronym for can’t remember stuff. Memory is the second thing to go when we age; I used to know what the first one was, but I can’t think of it right now. As a practitioner you have no doubt run across older patients who have problems with memory and concentration; and some who have actual dementia.

Mark Goodman Ph.D. believes that many patients diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease actually have dementia caused by a lack of vitamin B12. Dr. Goodman has an accredited Ph.D. in behavioral medicine (with a specialization in clinical neuropsychology) from the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Dr. Goodman is quoted in an interview by Kirk Hamilton that appeared in Clinical Pearls. Dr. Goodman says, ” I initially suspected vitamin B12 limits were too low, when I encountered on consultation, geriatric patients admitted with Alzheimer’s diagnosis whose frontal lobe functioning was obviously intact. This is inconsistent with Alzheimer’s diagnosis. They were exhibiting other global neuropsychological deficits with a systemic/metabolic profile. They were all following cardiac lipid- lowering diets.”

He went on to say that he believed that there are many elderly individuals who are sub clinically B12 deficient. Many times these patients have normal blood levels of B12. He points out that people who are B12 deficient experience neurological changes before there is changes in their blood count (pernicious anemia) and that a good dietary history is an important part of the evaluation. According to Dr. Goodman, “In the convalescent facility diet there is little red meat due to expense and the desire to have residents on a lipid lowering regime. Also, there is a normal increase in gastric atrophy in the elderly which reduces vitamin B12 absorption. Thirdly, there is a down-regulation of the enzymes required for the formation and the manufacture of vitamin B12 when less vitamin B12 is consumed.” Dr. Goodman points out that if there is no frontal lobe degeneration, the dementia is not Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr. Goodman says that high doses of vitamin B12 are without any serious adverse side-effects. Some reports of reversible symptoms of diarrhea, cutaneous rash, polycythemia and possibly peripheral vascular thrombosis, but these are minor and reversible.

Vitamin B12 deficiency is fairly common in older people. Even when the tests for B12 levels are normal, symptoms like forgetfulness, fatigue and depression respond to B12 supplementation. Dr. Goodman’s point is that the symptoms of this deficiency can be so severe that the patient is often diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease-even when the blood tests are normal.

Very commonly, poor concentration, forgetfulness or even depression in an older individual is due to a need for vitamin B12. Dr. Goodman has recommended B12 injections for patients needing B12. If you do not have a license that lets you inject your patients with vitamins, this often presents a problem. When I was first in practice I frequently sent elderly patients to their doctor to get a B12 shot. More often than not, the doctor would test B12 levels and tell the patient that the shot was unnecessary. There has, however, been research that shows that high oral doses (more than 3 milligrams per day) can be used to effectively restore vitamin B12 levels. I use a lozenge that has 2 milligrams of B12 and 800 micrograms of folic acid. It is a good idea to give the folic acid with the B12, because they cover similar neurologic territory.

Dr. Goodman’s information has been valuable; it gives some scientific validity to a nutritional approach to a common problem. But like so many things in natural health care, we take some science, add some common sense and some clinical experience and come up with something really amazing.

The best stuff I ever learned about B12, I learned from Dr. Harry Eidenier who is a chemist and a bit of a clinical genius. Since deficiencies of vitamin B12 and folic acid can lead to a macrocytic anemia. So why wait until the MCV is over 100 to realize that there is a problem. A person isn’t normal one day and suddenly their cells just swell up. Sure enough, if someone comes in with CRS, fatigue, poor attention span or depression, a simple CBC might show you the reason for the problem. An MCV higher than 90 may mean a need for vitamin B12 and folic acid.

It is worth mentioning depression here; Americans spend about $3 billion each year on antidepressants. I remember one patient who was severely depressed and had tried four different antidepressants without any success. The next step was electro-shock therapy. It was the late 1980s and I was shocked that they were still doing this. He had some lab work with him and his RBC was below 4 and his MCV was 97(still “normal” according to his doctors). He responded to the B12 and never did receive the shock therapy.

Another thing that you might see with a B12 deficiency is a low neutraphil count. Sometimes the whole WBC count is low and the percentage of neutraphils is low. If you see the forgetfulness, fatigue or depression and a high MCV, you might be looking at a B12 deficiency and not an immune problem or a chronic infection.

The other thing that Dr. Eidenier pointed out to me is that if an individual needs B12, it is likely that he or she is not producing enough HCl in the stomach. If a person doesn’t produce enough HCl, he or she is likely to be deficient in various amino acids (many of which are precursors to neurotransmitters) and most minerals. This is the patient who has gas and bloating after meals. Interestingly enough, the patient may have gastric reflux. Fingernails break easily and bad breath is common.

As we get older, we produce less stomach HCl. So while Dr. Goodman states that the problem many older people have is that they do not eat meat. The truth is that they may not get the nutrients out of the meat even if they do eat it. People tend to develop a sweet tooth as they get older because protein becomes hard to digest. Very often the high cholesterol that Dr. Goodman speaks of is from a metabolic syndrome type of situation caused by eating too much sugar and starch.

A trace mineral, rubidium, is valuable for treating memory and concentration problems. I also learned this from Dr. Eidenier, who cited research that found high levels of rubidium in people who remained youthful late in life. I have to mention a particular company here, because I don’t know of anyone else who makes a rubidium supplement. The combination of HCl, B12, and rubidium is a powerful combination that helps people who have too many “senior moments”.

There are a number of studies that show the importance of antioxidants (both those found naturally, and in supplementation), DHA and omega 3 fatty acids in general to help protect from dementia. To quote Edward Zamrini, MD “A large body of evidence implicates oxidative damage in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis.” (March 21, 2006 issue of Geriatrics and Aging). In a study, published in the journal, Neurology (March 2000;54:1265-1272) showed that vitamin C and E supplementation could protect against vascular dementia. Also there is research that shows that pesticides create neurologic damage. Of course the presence of aluminum in the plaques associated with Alzheimer’s disease has many looking at aluminum in cookware, antacids and antiperspirants. Aluminum is one of the most plentiful elements on the planet. If may be wise to look at other heavy metals, especially mercury. Mercury can actually interfere with the body’s ability to detoxify and get rid of other metals-maybe this is at the root of the aluminum accumulation. To protect against Alzheimer’s disease get plenty of antioxidants, consume DHA and omega 3 oils, and remove metals and toxins from the body. The oils are especially important, there are studies that show consumption of fish or fish oil seems to protect from dementia.

Curcumin is an antioxidant found in turmeric. Turmeric is a perennial plant, botanically related to ginger that is native to India, China and Indonesia. It is a component of curry powder and prepared mustard. It is used in traditional Chinese medicine and in Indian (Ayurvedic) medicine for its anti-inflammatory properties. The lowest incidence of Alzheimer’s disease in the world is in villages in India. Only about 1% of Indians over the age of 65 get the disease. So, perhaps the consumption of curry may be the reason that there are so few cases of Alzheimer’s disease. Curcumin, found in turmeric, has been shown to fight the build up of the amyloid plaques found in Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Sally Frautschy, of the University of California, Los Angeles, presented these findings at the 2005 annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience in San Diego, California. Her paper was entitled: Curcumin Reduces Oxidative Damage and Amyloid Pathology in an Alzheimer Transgenic Mouse.

So the things that work for keeping the mind sharp are the same things that work for everything else. You need fresh produce as a source of natural antioxidants, good essential fatty acids, avoid trans fats, exercise and eliminate toxins.

Cocker Spaniel Eye Problems

Cocker Spaniel eye problems can be serious to the point of causing your pup to go blind. What you know and what you do could save your dogs eye sight. This report highlights the most common problems you should be familiar with.

There are several health issues and Cocker Spaniel eye problems that seem to go along with the breed. This does not mean that every Cocker will inherit these problems. In general, Cockers are susceptible to several kinds of eye problems including “Cherry Eye” and “Cataracts”. Being able to reconize the symptoms early could save your dog for suffering needlessly and possibly its eye sight. Here is the list of Cocker Spaniel eye problems you could encounter.

Entropion – This happens when the bottom eyelid of the Cocker rolls inward. This causes the hair to start rubbing against the eyeball. This condition causes considerable irritation and can often be present in both eyes. Entropion can either be congenital or hereditary. Surgery is the answer for this Cocker Spaniel eye problem.

Distichiasis – This is a Cocker Spaniel eye problem where abnormal hair, or Distichia, begins to grow from the Cocker’s oil glands which are found in the eyelid. This can be a source of irritation on the eyeball. No visible symptoms may be present if the hair is soft and fine. However, if irritation is present, the eyes of your pooch may either become red or inflamed. In order to alleviate any irritation, and try to rub her eyes with her paws.

Several treatments are available for this condition. The abnormal eyelashes may either be removed manually, with a form of electrolysis or by surgery. A course of antibiotics may be given in order to prevent any infection after surgery.

Cherry Eye – Did you know that your Cocker has a third eyelid that protects its eye? It contains a tear gland which sometimes will burst out of its usual position thus appearing as a red swelling in the inside corner of its eye. If this condition is present in your Cocker, it will need surgery in order to suture the gland back in its place. Antibiotics and ointments only work temporary. Surgery has proven to be the best solution.

Cataracts – If your dog has cataracts, you will notice that its eyes are cloudy in appearance. Your Cocker’s vision may also be impeded. If this condition is left untreated, it will ultimately lead to blindness. However, cataracts can be removed quite well by surgery. This can be a hereditary problem. Therefore, when you go to buy a Cocker Spaniel puppy, be sure that you check to see that there is no history regarding this disease in either the parents or the grandparents.

Glaucoma – This condition is present when there is an abnormal increase in pressure inside of the eye. If there is a problem with drainage inside of the eye, the pressure will increase causing enlargement of the eyeball and will lead to blindness. This is perphaps the most concerning of all the Cocker Spaniel eye problems.

Symptoms include red eyes, protruding eyeball, pain and sensitivity to light. Treatment may involve either medication or surgery depending upon what type of Glaucoma it is. However, despite treatment, your Cocker may still lose its eyesight.

Conjunctivitis – This Cocker Spaniel eye problem is commonly called ‘pink eye’ and can result if your Cocker is allergic to grasses or pollens. This can also be caused from an infection cause by fungi, bacteria or a virus.

Symptoms of ‘pink eye’ include weeping of the eye, swelling and redness of the eyelid or a yellowish-green discharge. Your Cocker Spaniel may either rub its eye with its paw for relief or else rub the affected eye on your carpet. To get rid of this condition, ointment or antibiotic eye drops may be prescribed by your veterinarian.

You may never experience eye problems with your pup. However, it is a safe precaution to be aware and take corrective measures quickly to avoid complications if you spot any of the Cocker Spaniel eye problem symptoms.

Dry Eye Symptoms and CPAP Therapy – An Eye Doctor’s Perspective

The causes of red eyes can often be a mystery. Patients have reported dry eye problems induced by CPAP machines. Obstructive Sleep Apnea Disorder causes interruption of breathing at night in short repeated intervals. The resulting low levels of blood oxygen saturation cause daytime sleepiness and fatigue. It is often accompanied by very loud snoring and the affected person may awake with “air starvation” several times in a night. Sleep Apnea can result in serious health problems and mortality if untreated over time. Continuous Positive Airway Pressure, or CPAP, is used as the standard of care treatment. A CPAP keeps the upper airway open by providing a constant flow of air delivered through a face mask or “nasal pillows worn while sleeping. Compliance is frequently reported to be low with CPAP machine due to various problems. Resolving these issues is critical to your well being and continued use of a CPAP machine.

Eye problems reported with CPAP therapy include dry eyes, red eyes, swollen eyes (skin around the eyes), and redness of the eyelids and face around the eyes. Any of these symptoms should be discussed with your Doctor who prescribed CPAP therapy and if needed you can request further help from your Optometrist.

You may be inclined to believe the origin of your dry eye, eye inflammation, pinkeye appearance, or swollen eye is caused by an allergy to the mask. Most masks today are latex free and made of silicone polymers. The incidence of true silicone allergy is almost negligible. Eye symptoms may be caused by a number of factors.

– A mask may be too tight exerting pressure on your face

– A mask may be too loose causing air to flow across your eye at night causing a dry eye and simulate Dry Eye Syndrome. The primary difference is CPAP induced dry eye will be worse upon awakening and improve as the day progresses while Dry Eye Syndrome usually worsens as the day progresses.

– A worn or defective mask may leak.

– Worn nasal pillows could start to blow air towards the eyes.

– It is postulated the air pressure could induce dry eye by forcing air though the tear puncta openings. Punctal plug occlusion by an Eye Doctor can be tried with temporary collagen punctual plugs to rule out this possibility.

-Sleep apnea patients also have an increased frequency of floppy eyelid syndrome. Floppy eyelid syndrome is a lax upper eyelid that will evert (flip inside out) easily. Patients with untreated sleep apnea often sleep on their side face down on a pillow in an unconscious effort to keep their airway open. Due to a loose eyelid the lid flips up exposing the conjunctival tissue lining. This constantly rubs on the pillow case causing mechanical irritation and exposes the tissue to any allergens that are on the pillowcase. The conjunctival tissue can become chronically inflamed with papillary conjunctivitis and a red eye upon awakening. Treatment of the sleep apnea will help resolve the problem since there will be a reduction in rolling face down. There is no longer hypoxia (oxygen deprivation) and the mask itself provides behavioral changes in sleep posture since it protrudes from the face. Treatment of any remaining dry eye symptoms is still essential.

– Occasionally an individual will have dry eyes already or sleep with partially opened eyes which will make leaky masks more symptomatic. Treating the primary Dry Eye Syndrome is essential in this case and should be done in consultation with your Eye Doctor.

– Some people may be more sensitive to the pressure of the mask under the eyelids on a repetitive basis and could benefit by using different shaped masks on subsequent nights. The fit of a mask is so important this may not be an option and your Doctor may need to use prescription ointments (usually after removing the mask).

– Supplemental treatment by your Eye Doctor may be needed for the Eye dryness, artificial tears such as Thera Tears, some prescription eye drops.

– Your Optometrist may also prescribe eye treatment for the mask induced red eye conjunctivitis with eye medications like Patanol.

Discuss your problems with your Doctor. Simple measures may be all you need. Readjustment of the mask straps, replacement of a mask, or changing the mask type could completely resolve your eye symptoms. If you can’t resolve your problems after your visit an eye exam with your Optometrist should be the next step.

Cataracts – Getting Aware About Cataract Symptoms

Cataracts are characterized by a clouding of your eye’s lens which is located at the back side of the iris and the pupil. As you age, cataract develops when strands of protein form on this lens which can interfere with the clarity of images that you see.

Cataract is one of the most common eye problems responsible for vision loss that affects people aged above forty. Your risk for getting cataracts increases as you get older. It is also one of the main causes for blindness globally.

Causes for cataracts can be attributed to frequent exposure to ultra violet rays, deficiency of vitamins, use of certain medications and eye trauma or eye diseases.

One of the ways you can take an active role in promoting your health is by knowing about cataract symptoms. Doing so will help create useful awareness and enable you to react positively in dealing with this eye condition.

What are the Symptoms of Cataracts?

The symptoms for cataract are influenced by the location of cataract on the eye’s lens and the area it has covered, and whether it exists in one or both of your eyes.

It takes years for cataracts to develop, and this leads to gradual worsening of eyesight. Cataracts are painless and generally start in one eye but can affect both the eyes. Nonetheless, it is non-contagious and cannot spread from one inflicted eye to the other.

In the initial stages, cataracts form as a mild clouding on the lens which only has a slight effect on your vision. But as the cataract grows in size, it starts interfering with light that passes through the lens. Over a period of time, the cataract progresses and you may start noticing the following symptoms:

  • Clouded, blurry vision
  • Dim vision along with difficulty seeing at night
  • Double vision
  • Oversensitive to light or glare
  • Halos start to appear around lights
  • Frequent eyeglass or contact lens prescription changes
  • Colors appear pale, washed out or faded

Changes in vision are a common cataract problem and you may experience glare or halos from natural or artificial light sources. As a result driving on the road at night becomes a difficult ordeal as a result of glare from vehicle headlights.

Colors may appear less intense and you may have problems differentiating shapes against a background. Over time, you may have difficulties reading.

Moreover, these symptoms can occur due to health problems other than cataracts such as diabetes or other eye illnesses. If you suspect having any of the above signs and symptoms of cataracts development stated above, a visit to your optometrist can help settle your vision related doubts and queries.

Additionally, people aged seventy years or above are more prone to have cataracts that can affect and deteriorate their vision considerably. Patients with advanced cataracts have chalky or yellowish pupils (which are normally black) and the vision diminishes to an extent where the patient finds it very difficult to see objects, even in bright environments.

Cataract is an easily treatable eye condition and most people operated with cataract surgery have reported better vision. It is a safe and effective surgical procedure that replaces the cataract affected lens with an artificial lens.

Role of Youth in Nation’s Development

Vision 2020 can be better described as vision 20/20. That is the perfect vision in American style and this 20/20 vision can be achieved only by young generation of India. It is well known that India is home to a significant proportion of youth of the world today. All the imperialists of the world are eyeing India as a source of technical manpower. They are looking at our boys and girls as a source of talents at low costs for their future super profits. If Indian youth make up their mind and work in close unity with working class people, they can foil the plans of Imperialism and Bourgeoisie. The plunder of India can be ended with political power in their hands. The workers, peasants, women and youth will ensure that there is work for all. They will ensure that what is produces is geared towards providing adequacy for all members of society.

Unfortunately no one is bothered to dream any such vision. Martin Luther has said, “I have a Dream” and the dream come largely true. If he had not thought of that dream he would have accomplished nothing in his life. To climb high one has to think of climbing the Everest. One may not go higher than 10000 feet but even that will not be attained if you have no better dreams of going up to the top floor of your office in a life.

In recent years the world has come to look at India with renewed respect, recognizing a strong and prosperous global power in the world. It is also a future when the fabled richness of India’s art, culture, intellectual explorations and spirituals pursuits will begin to show its full radiance bringing much success to the troubled spirit of Modern India.

Is it a dream? Yes. Is it an impossible dream? No, it’s not. This can be done by the Youth of Indains. Youth is the spring of Life. It is the age of discovery and dreams. When they dream they dream not only for the good future of themselves but also for the good future for nation and entire humanity. Their dreams take them to stars and galaxies to the far corners of the unknown and some of them like our own Kalpana Chawla pursue their dream, till they realize it and die for it in process.

If any section of the society in any country is most important for change, again it is the young people. Patriotism comes naturally to young people, but they also respond early to the call of Internationalism. The hopes of the youth are:

1. A world free of poverty, unemployment, inequality and exploitation of man by man.

2. A world free of discrimination on the grounds of race, colour, language and gender.

3. A world full of creative challenges and opportunities to conquer them.

But these are not just the empty hopes. Modern science and technology and increasing vistas of Socio Economic cooperation among nations have brought these hopes out in the reach of realization. In recent times Terrorism has emerged as one of the gravest threat to peace and democratic policy. Youth are drawn between acts of terrorism. In some cases it is not the terrorism, but a freedom struggle. This is how our neighbors are trying to justify its policy of cross border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. Youth organizations should carry out an awareness campaign to expose justification or condoning of terrorism anywhere and under whatever pretext.

Role of Youth:

A. The youth can play a vital role in the implementation of elimination of terrorism. If the energy, intelligence and resources of youth are fully and properly utilized the country will prosper.

The Difference Between Eye Strain and Eye Fatigue

Eye strain and eye fatigue result to many complications from serious to less serious, if any of them remains to be a continuous problem.

When we check online articles about the two topics, we will often find them associated with each other as a single unit of idea. Eye strain would be commonly defined as fatigue of the eyes due to excessive use of visual catalysts like the computers.

The American Heritage Dictionary defines it as pain and fatigue of the eyes, often accompanied by headache, resulting from prolonged use of the eyes, uncorrected defects of vision, or an imbalance of the eye muscles. We can derive here that eye strain is fatigue itself.

Some sources indicate that eye fatigue is “asthenopia” itself. It is a condition normally experienced by people whose work requires extended visual concentration (MD Guidelines).

Medical sources say that Axtaxanthin is a highly effective cure for asthenopia or fatigue. Axtaxanthin is an antioxidant or a carotenoid (dark colored dyes found in plant foods) in the class of plant compounds that actually “work by improving blood flow to the muscles that control accommodation in the eye, as well as to the small blood vessels in the retina.” (Deborah Mitchell, Phoenix Alternative Medicine Examiner)

Some studies say that fatigue is characterized by the muscles becoming tired in a similar context as other muscles in our body. Once these muscles tire, the symptoms start to occur. While eye strain is basically characterized by dry or watery eyes, blurred vision, and headache; eye fatigue is characterized by almost the same symptoms as eye strain but added with burning or tired sensation in the front of the eyes, headaches, and an overall feeling of tiredness. Eye fatigue can lead to more serious eye complications such as Glaucoma, or loss of sight. Eye fatigue serves as an early warning sign of glaucoma unless otherwise treated.

With this information at hand, we will be able to derive what some reports say, that eye strain is not a serious eye problem but eye fatigue is. Both can be corrected and prevented. But irresponsible handling and personal negligence of both can lead to step-by-step complications like myopia, cataracts, glaucoma, etc.

Some sources also differentiate the two as separate entities. They are recognized as two different ailments acquired by heavy computer use. Many studies reveal that fatigue symptoms are easy to spot but serve as warning signs for glaucoma or blindness, as mentioned previously. Strains, however, is the less complicated and less dangerous compared to fatigue. They can be compared and contrasted with a thin line to tell the difference between them, but for sure, they both need enough attention and proper handling to avoid damaging ones eyes. It is very important that we value and take extra care of them. It lights up our whole body, making us effective and successful workers and persons.

For more information about eye strains you may find this site very resourceful http://www.eyestrainfromcomputers.com as it has information related to eye strains which is believed to be partially related to eye fatigue.

Don’t Delay – Get That Mole Checked Out Today!

Of all the skin conditions I treat on a daily basis, moles and skin tags are by far the most common. As a matter of fact it is normal for adults to have between 10-40 moles by adulthood with the majority appearing during the first 20 years of a person’s life. Although they are a nuisance and sometimes unsightly, moles and skin tags are almost always benign (non-cancerous).

As you age, moles are likely to change in color and/or size. They may disappear over time, remain the same, or appear for no reason. Moles that are of particular concern from a medical standpoint are those that look different than other moles or you notice changes in color, height, size, and shape.

It’s a good idea to examine your skin from time to time, paying special attention to areas exposed to the sun, such as hands, arms, chest, neck, and face. If you notice a change in a mole or it bleeds, oozes, appears scaly, or becomes tender or painful, you should have a dermatologist evaluate it.

Skin tags are harmless flaps of tissue that hang off the skin by a connecting stalk. Although they are not painful, rubbing against clothing or jewelry can irritate them. Skin tags are likely to appear on the neck, armpits, or groin. Women and elderly people are more likely to get them, especially with weight gain.

It may seem that knowing about moles and skin tags is not so important, but that’s not the case. Many people who let moles go unchecked run the risk of developing melanoma (cancer) or increase their risk of precancerous cells. Even if health were not your major concern, living with skin tags and moles is something you can easily do without, so why not take a preventive approach to their removal?

Moles Could Be your Skin’s Nemeses!

What is a mole anyway? I get this question all the time from patients. Moles are nothing more than growths on the skin that are caused when cells grow in a cluster instead of being spread throughout the skin. When exposed to the sun, these cells called melanocytes may darken and become brown or black in color. They may also be affected by pregnancy or during the teen years.

There are two types of moles:

• Congenital nevi – usually appear at birth, occur in about one in 100 people, and are more likely to become cancerous than moles that appear after birth. Moles can be flat or raised, smooth or rough, and can range in color from yellowish to black.

• Dysplastic nevi – larger than normal moles that are usually more than ½ inch across, and not always round. They are described as atypical because they can be tan to dark brown, on a pink background, and can been found on any part of your body. Dysplastic nevi are inherited and the chance of developing skin cancer in one of these moles is greater than in others.

Don’t Wait – Check It Out

So often people neglect moles because they take it for granted that they are nothing to worry about. But it’s always better to be safe than sorry! Watch for noticeable signs that may alert you to the dangers of skin cancer. Here are some red flags when it comes to identifying important characteristics that could mean trouble for your skin. See your dermatologist if you notice a change in a mole as follows:

• Asymmetry – your mole is not round in shape, rather one half does not match the other.

• Border – edges of the mole are ragged, blurred, or irregular.

• Color – the color it not consistent throughout or has shades of tan, brown, black, blue, white, or red.

• Diameter – it is larger than the eraser of a pencil.

• Elevation – it looks like it is raised from the skin.

Whether you are concerned about the possibility of melanoma or you just want to remove moles or skin tags for cosmetic reasons, there is no reason to hesitate. Here is what you can expect.

If a mole looks suspicious, your skin doctor will either remove the entire mole or take a small tissue sample (biopsy). This is a very simple procedure and will not cause the cancer to spread. If the mole proves to be cancerous, the entire mole will be removed along with a rim of normal skin around it.

It is usually best to remove an atypical mole just to be on the safe side. If you are a person who has dysplastic nevi you should avoid sun exposure because sunlight may accelerate changes in this type of mole.

As for skin tags, you may wish to have them removed not because they pose a potential cancer threat but simply because they can be annoying and bothersome. If so, removal is painlessly done in a doctor’s office by freezing the tags with liquid nitrogen or with simple surgery.

Skin tags and moles may seem harmless, and for the most part they are. However, it is always best to schedule periodic checkups with a skin doctor just to be sure you have no suspicious looking skin lesions on your body.

Very often, people wait too long and then it’s too late. If discovered early, melanomas can be removed successfully before spreading to other parts of your body. Go for a mole check soon…you might be glad you did!

Choosing Between Speech Pathology Or Occupational Therapy As a Career

Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy are rewarding and challenging careers that involve helping people with a limiting physical condition. Both careers focus on helping people overcome life challenges so they can adjust and live a productive life.

When considering a career in either speech pathology or occupational therapy, most people will make a choice based on their own personal goals and desires. Speech language pathology is the evaluation and treatment of speech and language disorders. Speech pathologists help individuals who have physical disabilities associated with speech such as difficulty in pronouncing words, hearing impairments, voice disorders, cognitive communication impairments, memory and problem solving disorders, and swallowing difficulties.  A speech therapist will work with people who have difficulty speaking, forming words or sounds, or who are recuperating from an injury or illness that has affected their ability to speak. Speech disorders can result from a number of conditions such as delayed development, a genetic disorder, an accident, or a medical condition such as a stroke. Although they are involved with helping adults, many speech pathologists tend to focus on children because early childhood is an important time for speech and language development. Those who want to specialize in helping children will often choose speech pathology as a career.

Many people choose speech pathology due to a number of specialized areas one can pursue. These areas can include disorders in fluency, neurogenic speech and language, language development, articulation, alternative communication, and swallowing. They employ a wide variety of assessment plans, diagnostic techniques, and treatment procedures. For those interested in research and development, speech language pathologists can specialize in seeking an understanding of the causes of a speech disorder and develop effective methods for evaluation and treatment of the condition.

One will often choose a career as an Occupational Therapist because they have a genuine interest in enabling people to participate in the activities of everyday life. Occupational therapy is a career that focuses on activities regarding daily living. Their job is to help people with impairments to adapt and function in everyday life activities.  They help individuals with developmental, emotional, physical, and mental disabilities. The goal is to improve functioning and wellness. Functioning tasks can include such actions as meal preparation, showering and dressing, managing money, and implementing their daily routine. They will also help them function better in the workplace. Areas focused on include memory, cognition and perception and motor skills.

Occupational therapists assist patients with achieving their set goals by improving their ability to participate in daily routines, modifying the environment to help them function better, and adapting an activity to better support their needs. They work with individuals, children, families, groups and the community to facilitate health and well-being by establishing or re-establishing their previous occupation. As well, Occupational Therapists are becoming increasingly more involved in tackling the impact of social and environmental factors that affect a person’s ability to return to their previous occupation.

Occupational Therapists focus helping patients return to their previous occupation, while speech pathology focuses on the specific area of communication disorders. Both professions are in great demand and provide a valuable service to the community and health profession. Whichever one you pick, you are sure to have a rewarding career.

A Must-Try Wicca Weight Loss Spell That Actually Works!

Losing weight is one of the ever growing fads which is here to stay. People have different reasons as to why they want to lose weight. Women want to lose extra pounds to boost their self-esteem. Society nowadays put s high regard to women who can actually maintain a 24-inch waist. We frown upon women who have big arms, wider waists, and chubby cheeks.

We cannot blame these people if they want to lose weight. Aside from this, people want to lose weight mainly for health reasons. A lot of diseases are precipitated by accumulation of excess fats in the human body. So as to avoid further health degradation, the older population in general would resort to eating healthy and exercising daily.

New-age Wicca has recently introduced spells to help people lose weight. Weight loss spells were not rampant during the middle ages. Witches in this period did not care much about how fat they have become, or how unhealthy their eating habits were. It is the middle ages, weight and figure does not really matter much during these times. This is probably the reason why folk tales involving witches describe them as stout or pudgy. Wiccan weight loss spells have not been concocted during this period in Wiccan history.

Since women mostly perform Wiccan weight loss spells, it is crucial that they call upon Goddesses to aid in their request. Usually Wiccans evoke the aid of Venus, the Goddess of Beauty. It really does not matter which Goddess a person calls upon to help her in granting the request. Venus also symbolizes the moon, which to Wiccans is sacred for it lights up the night sky during rituals and sabbatical celebrations.

They believe that the moon brings them mystical powers, and provides them with the energy which they need for spiritual sustenance. Some Wiccans practice moon bathing, wherein they are skyclad (naked) under a full moon. They believe that this is an effective way of harnessing energy, and also provides the body with vitality and vigor.

A very effective weight loss spell is the Venus Evocation. This spell has been passed on from generations of witches since the 1950s. The beauty about spell-casting in Wicca is that you can change or alter some steps or procedure according to your preference. Wiccans are very open about their spell-casting rituals that they encourage fellow Wiccans to go through their Book of Shadows to share Wiccan spells and potions, which they have found to be very effective and powerful.

Here’s the Venus Evocation that surely will help you to lose some of the weight that you have been dying to shed off:

“Venus, Goddess of Beauty. Goddess of Women. Goddess of Love. I evoke your power to aid me, make me strong; to fill me with your power, to help me in my purpose. To be the best that I can be.”

This sounds very general and non-specific to losing weight. You can add a stanza or two about how many pounds you want to lose. Also be specific with how long you would want to lose them. Since you have started with evoking the Goddess Venus, it is a must that you also address to her the next stanzas which you will create.

Dog Walking – A Great Business

There are over fifty million dogs in the United States. One in four homes has a dog. Many dogs sit home all day while their doggie parents work. A lot live in Condominiums and apartments, which means they don’t get to be outside during the day at all. Dog walking has become a necessity. If you love dogs this is your chance to cash in on a fantastic career and start your own dog walking service.

Dog walking is a great career because you can earn money while you exercise. And while the work can be physically demanding it’s fun so you hardly notice. The good news is that you won’t have to fight traffic, or do the nine to five grind and you can actually make a good living at it. Think about it you get paid for playing with people’s dogs.

If this seems like an interesting enterprise you will need a few things to get started. You are going to build a kit. This is easy and you can build it for less than $100.00, not a bad investment for your own business. You will need a plastic box about 15x21x18 with a lid for your car.

In your kit should be a fanny pack, which you will wear and use everyday. I got the fanny pack with water bottle holders on the sides. In the fanny pack you will pack waste bags, water for yourself and the dog, your keys, sun block, business cards and treats, and maybe even an extra leash. The fanny pack is essential because you want to keep your hands free.

It’s nice if you have a shirt with the name of your company or your name on it. This lets people you come in contact with know what you do. I’ve gotten business this way. You can buy a shirt later if you are starting with bare bones financing.

A good strong key ring is a must. You will want to have “all” your client’s keys with you at all times. I can’t tell you how many times I have had a client call at the last minute and request a walk. Put your name and phone number on the key ring so if it is lost you can be contacted to have it returned. Never label the keys with your client’s address. Use the name of the dog instead. If you have two dogs with the same name use Ally 1 & Ally 2 for example.

You will need an endless supply of dog waste bags and you can’t be afraid to use them. Hey if this is the worst part of the job you can’t complain.

Business cards are a must. You can make your own on your computer or buy some cheap at a local printing place. If you can afford to buy them get some door hangers too. I’ve put door hangers on doors where I see or hear a dog in a back yard. I’ve gotten work this way. One time I saw this poor girl with a business suit and high heels being pulled by a Great Dane. I pulled over and gave her a business card. I had that dog for over five years before he passed away of old age. Business cards are a great marketing tool and this business sells itself.

In this day of our litigious society release forms are a must. This basically lets your customer know that unless it was negligence on your part they will be responsible for vet bills should the dog get sick or hurt while in your care. One time I had to rush a dog to the vet because she was allergic to bees, which we didn’t know until she got stung. Her head blew up like a balloon and I got her to the vet just before she went into anaphylatic shock. Another time I was driving a bunch of dogs back from the dog park when one of them had a seizure. The customer had no idea his dog was epileptic. Unforeseen things happen make sure you are covered. You can find basic release forms on line.

Note pads and a pen are important. Some customers want a daily activity report on their dog. I had both pens and note pads with my name and number on them. They are a great marketing tool. In this age of cell phones I text a lot of my customers with updates.

Buy and keep an appointment book. Write down all of your appointments everyday even if they are regulars, this way you can fill in time slots and at the end of the month you can use your appointment book to do your billing. It will be a lifesaver when you start getting busy and it’s a good resource at tax time. Be sure to write in pencil and keep it updated.

A tax manual gives you a chance to record all your expenses for the year by month. It comes in handy at tax time and much better than a shoebox. Be sure to keep receipts for all business expenses. I filed mine monthly in an accordion file.

A mileage book will help you record mileage when you’re working. Unless you have a separate car for your business you are not allowed to write off the cost of your car, although you can write off a portion of the gas and maintenance as long as you keep a log.

An address book is essential. You should keep your customers numbers with you at all times. I kept mine in my cell phone and in a book just in case my phone wasn’t usable. I’ve had to call clients on the spot if their dog is sick or if something happened at home. Keep your customers numbers with you at all times.

Always have a First Aid Kit on hand. You hope nothing happens, but if does you’ll be ready with your doggie first aid kit. You can buy dog first aid kits on line, but they have instructions for building one on line as well.

Now that you have your kit together you will need to figure out what your fees are going to be. Check around to see what other dog walkers and pet sitters are getting. Look through your yellow pages and call a few pet sitters to see what they are charging. You want to be competitive, however different areas command different fees. Find out what the going rate is in your area. My business grew fast and I was actually able to raise my rates with in a six- month period. This business really does sell itself.

You will want to charge accordingly if you are walking more than one dog in a family. You can give a discount, but make sure you charge. You can also set a monthly rate if you walk the dog more than one time a day. Set up a pay structure that both you and the customer are comfortable with. To get first time customers you may want to offer an introductory price, say a months worth of dog walks at half price, or you can offer a goody bag to first time clients.

Although I never charged extra for services like feeding a dog or giving them a pill some dog walkers do charge for extras. If you have to go back to the house later to do these things then by all means charge them as you are using more gas.

The next thing you will want to do is set up your books. You will need a billing system to bill your clients. I used quick books and billed at the end of every month. I sent them a bill with all the dates I walked their dog. Okay where is that appointment book? I go through the book for each client and make up a bill. Most of the time you will be billing after the fact. Clients may need to cancel during the month so billing after just makes more sense.

You will need another set of books (tax book) for your income and expenses. This is where you will mark down your mileage from your booklet, any treats you bought, money spent on gas, sun block, waste bags, of course your start up kit and anything else you buy that helps you run your business. You can even write off walking shoes. I recommend getting a tax preparer who has experience in doing business taxes. If you run your business out of a home office you can also write off ten percent of your mortgage, rent and utilities. List all of your income and all or your expenses, using the receipts you saved (I keep all my receipts in a basket), use them when I do my books and then file them in my accordion file by month.

You will definitely want insurance. There are a few companies that can help you, but a broker can hook you up much easier. Business insurance can be expensive, but it is much better than losing everything you have worked for if something tragic happens. Don’t get scared in all my years of walking I never had to use my insurance once.

There are a lot of ways to advertise but word of mouth will always be your best resource. Visit area condominium and apartment complexes that take pets. Wearing your company shirt go and talk to the complex manager. Tell them what your business is and ask them if you can advertise in the complex. They will welcome you because they don’t want dogs messing in their units. Ask them if you can leave business cards to put in the new resident packets. Also see if you put some business cards in their community room, laundry room or near the mailboxes.

Another good place to get clients is corporate housing complexes. Corporate housing is where companies put up new employees until they can get relocated. These complexes often take pets. You can be the person that welcomes them to the area and at the same time take a load off their mind by walking their dogs while they are moving. Getting to know you will be a relief for them as you can be a wealth of information for them, like giving them the names of local vets and groomers.

Other good resource is local veterinarians. Ask them if you can put business cards on their front counter(always provide your own business card holder). Tell them that when you get new clients you will refer them. It’s a win-win situation. Your local pet store is another good avenue for advertising. Laundromats and anyplace else that has a bulletin board are good advertising resources. Always carry your business cards with you. Strike up conversations with people. Let them know what you. You always want to be prepared.

If you have your own dog take your dog to the park in the evenings or on the weekends and talk to every dog owner there. Tell them about your services and give them a business card. Let them know how much their dog’s fitness means to you.

If you live in a tourist area visit local hotels that allow pets. A lot of people bring their pets on vacation and would definitely pay to have their pet walked if they are going to be out all day. Visit the hotel’s manager and give them some of your business cards and door hangers. If asked the hotel clerk can just hand their hotel patron a door hanger when they check in. Again the hotel owner does not want dogs messing in their rooms.

Always do a client visit before you take on the responsibility of walking a dog. You want to meet the dog so they know you when you show up at the door for their first walk. Let the customer fill out and sign the release form. In the mean time get down on the floor and interact with your new client.

You want to test drive a new client. Find out about all their quirks, are they social with other dogs, with people, what are they afraid of, do they ride in the car okay, are they toy or treat aggressive? You’ll want to have all these questions answered before you take the dog out on its first walk. I had a dog that was terrified of garbage trucks. To avoid putting him in a situation where he’d come face to face with a garbage truck I took him to the park. Be sensitive to their phobias. They are like children in your care and you want their experience to be pleasant.

Don’t be afraid to ask your client what they expect of you. Some may ask you to leave a light on as the owner gets home after dark. Still others may want you to turn the television on so the dog has company. You may have to change potty pads if they are dirty. You will get all kinds of requests. Always, always change the dog’s water bowl whether you are asked to or not.

Some homeowners use alarms. There’s nothing worse than setting off the alarm on your first day. The alarm is blaring the dog is howling and the neighbors coming running over to see what is wrong. Then the local police ride up and you have to explain why you are there. I speak from experience. Ask about alarms and get the code before you start. Gated Communities are another issue. You’ll need a way to get in. Some places have a gate code others you’ll need a gate opener. Get all of these issues out of the way ahead of time so there are no surprises on your first day.

Your job is to get your clients dog out for some exercise and a potty break during the day. Each walk will be different, however each walk should last at least a half hour. There are a few ways to accomplish exercise time. You can walk each dog individually or you can take a carload of dogs to a dog park for an hour and let them run off leash. If you do take them to a dog park remember you are responsible for them. They must be watched at all times. If your client isn’t very social still try to make walk time, playtime. For example you can run an energetic dog up and down a hill for added exercise, or bring a ball and let them play fetch. A geriatric dog may just need to be let out to be relieved, but you can still give them a half hour by sitting under a tree or giving them a massage.

You’ll be walking dogs in all kinds of weather. You have to be careful with hot weather as much as inclement weather. Dogs can get overheated very quickly. This is a dangerous situation for any animal. On hot sunny days keep exercise to a minimum. You may not want to play ball. A simple walk and then home again, if you can walk in a shady area all the better. Don’t walk your client on hot pavement. Stick to sidewalks or grassy parks. Make sure your client has plenty of water while out on the walk and then again when they get home.
Yes, you still have to walk your clients even if it is raining, however most customers only want their dogs going out for a potty break so they don’t track mud into the house. Ask your customers what they prefer. Never walk a dog in an electrical storm. It’s a good idea to keep old towels in your kit for rainy days.

Most dogs love snow, but again you have to be able to cater to a whole host of dogs. Be aware that smaller dogs and dogs with little hair become cold faster than most other dogs. You may want to cut their walk in half and warm them in towels when you take them inside. Don’t leave any dog shivering. Icy roads or sidewalks are another concern. Ice and salt dry out a dog’s pads and get stuck between their toes. It can even cause burns. Clean ice and salt from their paws when you get your client back home. They have paw wipes for this purpose.

Remember your job is very important to your customers. They feel guilty leaving their pet behind all day. You make them feel better about it. Also when they come home tired, from a long day at the office their dog will be tired too. You give your customer a sense of security. Besides, what other job can you do where you play and get paid for it?
