Skin Care Supplement

“Natural Skin Care” seems to be quite a buzzword lately, and with good reason – many natural skin care ingredients actually outperform their man-made counterparts. As with any other natural beauty product, unfortunately the adage “you get what you pay for” applies almost two-fold here.

Selenium – New research shows this mineral is necessary to the antioxidant known as glutathione peroxidase, which helps protect the body from cancers, including skin cancer caused by sun exposure. The best dietary sources of selenium include whole grain cereals, seafood, garlic and eggs. Oral doses are effective in daily supplements of 50 to 200 micrograms.

Antioxidants protect the capillaries in skin and thus ensure that enough nutrients get to the living cells that eventually push their way to the surface and become the skin you see in the mirror. They also protect from broken veins and early wrinkling. Capillaries also deliver oxygen to the cells, and remove the waste products of cellular metabolism. This prevents puffy, sagging, and dull skin.

Anti-aging skin care supplements give your body and skin the ability to turn back the clocks of time and help to reduce the future effects of aging. Advancements in anti-aging skin care supplements have given us solutions which are painless, unintrusive, and 100% natural. Anti-aging supplements will literally help heal your body from the inside out. These supplements for your skin will not only make you look better, but feel better also.

Most beauty supplement, contain a combination of sea marine extract such as seaweed and algae extracts, good vitamins such as vitamins A,C,E, nutritious ingredients such as soy, fruits and vegetables extracts, and antioxidant properties such as grape seed, green tea and other herbal ingredients. There are also some which contain traditional herbs such as aloe vera, ginkgo, ginseng, Chinese angelica, horsetail and pearl powder.

Sadly, humans are born with an ample supply of L-Carnosine. However, with age, the body’s stores are slowly depleted. Your personal supply will naturally be depleted by over 60% by the age of 70. Thus, a supplement is required to provide an extra boost, especially with photoaging. Taken internally, the dose will help heighten your body’s ability to heal and promote new cell growth.

Some of the best anti-aging skin care products should be derive from natural ingredients and extracts. It may be wise to visit a specialty store to purchase these products and speak with a trained person who knows about the use of the product. Not everyone is looking for the same results. Our age and type of skin should be a determining factor to our product purchase.

Bioflavonoids have a variety of benefits for our bodies and skin. Studies show that bioflavonoids stop or slow the growth of malignant cells. Vitamin P also acts as a natural antibiotic for our bodies, ridding of infection and fighting off illness and viruses. The bacteria fighting properties in bioflavonoids destroy bacteria found in our foods, so it protects us against food spoilage and food poisoning.

CoEnzyme Q 10, the highly hyped natural cell enzyme that many companies are synthesizing for use in their anti aging skin care products has been shown to be quite effective in recent years in prompting your body to produce more collagen and elastin and in fighting free radicals. Vitamin C and Green Tea are other anti-oxidant sources that have proven in recent years to be very effective – Vitamin C treatment being one of my favorite and most carefully applied weekly products.

Quick and Easy Sonic Vibrations Homeschool Projects

Sound is everywhere. It can travel through solids, liquids, and gases, but it does so at different speeds. It can rustle through trees at 770 MPH (miles per hour), echo through the ocean at 3,270 MPH, and resonate through solid rock at 8,600 MPH.

Sound is made by things vibrating back and forth, whether it's a guitar string, drum head, or clarinet. The back and forth motion of an object (like the drum head) creates a sound wave in the air that looks a lot like a ripple in a pond after you throw a rock in. It radiates outward, vibrating it's neighboring air molecules until they are moving around, too. This chain reaction keeps happening until it reaches your ears, where your "sound detectors" pick up the vibration and works with your brain to turn it into sound.

As long as there are molecules around, sound will be traveling though them. That's why if you put an alarm clock inside a glass jar and remove the air, there's no sound from the clock. There's nothing to transfer the vibrational energy to. It's like trying to get a ripple on a frozen pond. The rock just stops on the surface.

Sound can change its travel speed. Another word for sound speed is pitch. When the speed slows down, like with drumming, the sound speed is low. With clarinet reeds, it's high. Guitar strings can do both, as they are adjustable. If you look carefully, you can actually see the low pitch strings vibrate back and forth, but the high pitch strings move so quickly it's hard to see. But you can detect the effects of both with your ears. The range of your ears is about 20 – 20,000 Hz (cycles per second). Bats and dogs can hear a lot higher than we can!

Let's try out some experiments with sonic vibrations:

Bobby Pin Strummer: Straighten three bobby pins. (A bobby pin, when straightened, has two different sides – a smooth side and a rippled side.) Wrap a rubber band tightly around the base of an empty tin can. Slip in a clothespin under the rubber band, jaw-end first. Add three clothespins, about 120 degrees apart. Clamp the ripped end of a bobby pin into each clothespin, so that your contract low looks like a can with three legs. Strum each pin, one at a time. What happens if you clamp the pins at different heights?

String Test: Push the end of a length of heavy string and a length of light thread through a hole punched in the bottom of a can. Tie the ends inside the can to a paperclip so they stay put. The can should have two different strings coming out of the bottom. Place the can near your ear as you strum each strand. Can you make the pitch high and low? What other types of string, yarn, thread, fishing line, etc. can you use?

Mystery Pitch: Blow across the mouth of an empty soda or water bottle to make a whistle sound. Add a little water and try again. Add more water and try again. Add more water .. What happens if you use a glass bottle? Place an empty glass under the sink faucet and tap the side of it with a fork and listen to the sound. Slowly fill the glass with water while you continue to tap. What happens if you use a spoon? Knife? Whisk? Wooden spoon? Of these two experiments above, which one increases the pitch and which decreases the pitch?

Phonograph: Pierce the bottom of an empty plastic container (such as a butter tub or yogurt container) with a tack. Choose an old record that you do not mind scratching and place it on a turntable. (In a pinch, you can place it on a pencil tip and spin, but this takes practice.) Use your new "stylus" and hear the music! Doe the size of the container matter? What if you use a pin instead of a tack?

Easy Guitars: Wrap a rubber band lengthwise around a ruler. Push a pencil crosswise (perpendicular) under the rubber band. Pluck the rubber band. What happens if you move the pencil? What if you use a different kind of rubber band? What if you use a different sized ruler?

Sneaky Clocks: Place an alarm clock (the kind that ticks) or a timer that is ringing on a table and listen. Now place your ear on the table. Fill a zipper bag of water and press it between you and the clock to hear the difference. Next, place the clock in a closed metal can (like a cookie tin or coffee can). What about a paper bag? A glass jar? A newspaper-filled shoebox?

Stryo-Phone: Make yourself a telephone by punching a small hole in the bottom of two cups (foam, paper, tin … is there a difference?) And threading string into each one. Tie the end of the string inside the cup to a paper clip so the string places put. Cut the phones apart and tie each end to a slinky and try it out. What happens when you bang the slinky into different things, like walls, metal chairs, wood tables, or the floor? Untie the slinky and try a wire coat hanger, fork, spoon, or other kitchen utensil.

250cc X31 Gio Pit Bike Review

Are you looking to get into the pit bike realm? Are you on a budget? You’re in the right place because Gio Bikes, a Canada based company, has some awesome deals on pit bikes. While China continues to build mostly worthless pieces of junk, Gio Bikes has been making and selling off-road worthy pit bikes.

A 250cc pit bike is the perfect learners bike for a larger kid or an adult because it has a high enough seat height and has enough power for a bigger rider. Gio Bikes has a few different 250cc bikes, but the 2010 X31 (19″/16″) is their most popular 250cc pit bike. You may be thinking, “this is just another cheap look-a-like dirt bike,” because it’s not as well known as Honda or Kawasaki. Think again, because these pit bikes are Canadian-made with higher quality parts than China copycat bikes.

Engine

The engine in the 2010 X31 is a 250cc air-cooled four-stroke. It has decent torque, but pulls good in the mid to upper rpm. It comes with a high-performance Mikuni carburetor, which is used on the best name-brand motocross bikes. This bike has enough power for anyone to have fun on. It can hold its own in the trails and has enough ‘oomph’ when messing around with your friends. It also comes with a high-flow exhaust system that provides good power and sounds great.

Chassis

The engine is wrapped around by a lightweight aluminum perimeter frame. It’s the style that the big motocross bikes use. The CAD designed frame is made to be abused by adult riders and weekend warriors. It’s much stronger than a Chinese pit bike and is light enough so a kid riding it can lay it down in the corners without tipping over.

Suspension

Are you a younger and smaller rider that likes to rip the trails up? A female that wants a good bike to follow the family around? Or are you a bigger guy that enjoys fartin’ around on a pit bike and shows off to his friends? If you are any of those, or in between, the suspension on this 250cc pit bike can adjust to your riding style. Both the shock and the forks have fully-adjustable suspension that is Japanese-grade (much better than Chinese). The forks on the 2010 X31 are inverted Fast Ace shocks that have great damping. They probably aren’t quite strong enough for motocross or big jumps, but they do get the job done if you stay close to the ground. For the rear, it has an air cell Showa shock absorber. Showa shocks are used on Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and other big name-brand motorcycles and dirt bikes, so you know it’s top notch. Not all pit bikes come with fully-adjustable suspension, let alone adjustable, so that is a huge benefit this 250cc Giovanni pit bike has.

Build-Quality

Almost every part on this pitbike is made with high quality material. This means less sudden breakdowns, unlike Chinese copycats. Just by looking at this bike you can tell that the parts aren’t cheap. You will be able to ride Gio Bikes 250cc bike for hours on end, assuming that you do regular maintenance to it as you would any other dirt bike. I would definitely recommend Gio pit bikes for their quality parts as an alternative to Chinese bikes.

Additional…

There is a lot to the X31, but the main features other than the engine and suspension are the brakes, controls and other body parts. Both wheels are stronger than the previous years of this bike, assuring you they will withstand the abuse given to them by adult riders. On the wheels are hydraulic disc brakes to give you stopping power like motocross bikes. The triple clamps are made from high-grade alloy that make the controls softer and more comfortable. Plus, you can get the bike in four different colors!

Final Thoughts

The anodized and motocross style features, the Japanese-quality parts, and the slick look of this 250cc pit bike make you want to go ride. With electric start, anyone that can get their butt on the seat can ride it. If you want a cheap, durable bike that has enough power and suspension to tear up the trails and corn field, go no further. Gio Bikes has auctions where you can get these bikes for dirt cheap (pun intended). If you don’t want to wait for an auction to end you can just pay for a bike and they will ship it out to you right away. Also, if you want to upgrade or change a few parts, Gio Bikes has plenty of aftermarket and replacement parts in stock to fit your pit bike. As long as you take care of this bike, it will take care of you. Have fun, and rip it up!

Puppy House Training – 4 Basic Puppies Training Tips For a Happy, Well-Behaved Pet

Puppies can make very lovable and adorable pets but there are a lot of responsibilities involved. Not only do you have to ensure that you give it sufficient nutrients, you also need to provide a loving home in order for your puppy to grow happily and healthily. You also do not want it to become a nuisance in your neighbourhood. As such, it is essential that you carry out the necessary puppy house training, especially in the first few months when you first brought your puppy home. If you are wondering how to get hold of some useful puppies training tips to help you in your training, you have come to the right place. Below are 4 basic tips that you can use for a start.

1. Potty Training
The first puppy house training exercise that you need to carry is most probably potty training. This is essential because your puppy needs to learn where the correct place for it to eliminate its waste is. You do want it to soil your carpets and furniture so it is vital that you teach this rule right from the first day you bring your puppy home.

Before it leant the correct place to eliminate its waste, you must not let it go near your carpets or onto the sofa. When you are potty training your puppy, you have to be very patient and consistent. The best timings to potty train a puppy is after each meal. Decide on its potty place and bring it there after every meal. Do not get mad at your puppy if there are any ‘accidents’, give it some time to learn.

2. Training Your Puppy To Stay Alone Without Misbehaving
There will definitely be occasions when your puppy needs to stay alone at home so you have to train it to behave when there is nobody around in the house. You can start your training by confining it to an isolated area but do not lock it up in a small cage where there is not enough place for it to move around. Little puppies need to sleep a lot so do not feel bad that your puppy is sleeping on its own. Start by confining it for short periods each time and slowly extend the hours. You can prevent it from getting bored by giving it some toys to play with.

After some time you will be able to allow it to move around the house even when there is no one in but ensure that it has already been potty trained. Otherwise, you will come back to a messy home every day. Once your puppy gets used to being alone for a few hours each day, it will not suffer from separation anxiety. That is why it is important that you start puppy house training early.

3. Training Your Puppy To Socialize
In order that your puppy not become an aggressive pet, you have to bring out for walks everyday so that it has a chance to socialize with other animals and people in your neighbourhood. Very often you get to read about dogs behaving in aggressive manners to their neighbours. That is usually because the dog owners did not spend enough time carrying out puppy house training exercises for their pets. Remember that if you ever face difficulties house training your puppy or older dog, you should always seek professional trainer’s help. Never give up on your pet.

4. Training Your Puppy To Obey Basic Commands
After you have trained the basic and more important rules such as potty training, food routine and proper behaviour when no one is home, you can go on to teach your puppy to obey some general commands like ‘sit’, ‘heel’ and ‘no’. These are usually taught when your puppy is older. They are also very vital training rules if you do not want your puppy to misbehave when you bring him out for walks.

Once you bring your new puppy home, it is important that you start teaching it the basic puppy house training exercises as mentioned above. On the other hand, you must also not forget to show your puppy your love for it. Having a new puppy is a very interesting and fun experience for the whole family, so do not forget to enjoy the companionship of your new pet. Have fun!

Avascular Necrosis of Hip (AVN) – Successful and Effective Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment

Avascular necrosis (AVN) is a disease in which the blood supply to the head of the joint bone reduces drastically, causing a complete disorganization and ultimate collapse of the head of the bone. Though the hip joint is most commonly affected, AVN can also involve other joints such as the shoulder. This condition may be caused due to long-term use of steroids, excessive intake of alcohol, and chronic diseases like blood disorders and auto immune disorders. Of late, there has been a gradual increase in the incidence of auto immune disorders with a resulting increase in the use of steroids; hence, AV N is being diagnosed much more frequently. Patients in their late 20s and early 30s usually present with this disease.

The conservative management of this condition in the modern system of medicine is to give biphosphonates in order to possibly reduce the rate of decrease of calcium and thereby preserve the joint structure to the maximum extent possible. This is supplemented with graded physiotherapy to preserve joint function and maintain muscular strength. A slightly advanced condition calls for core decompression surgery in order to reduce stress on the joint. Further management is only with the use of pain killers like paracetamol, and to adopt a ‘wait and watch’ policy. Patients who progress to the third or fourth stage of the disease involving gross destruction of the joint are usually advised total replacement of the joint. Joint replacement surgery can be prohibitively costly; in addition, it may not provide the full range of movement which the person previously had with a normal joint.

In this scenario, Ayurvedic herbal treatment can be very successfully utilized to bring about a complete and effective management of AVN. Ayurvedic treatment can differ from patient to patient, depending upon the presentation of the disease as well as severity of symptoms, which usually include pain, stiffness, rigidity, and limitation of movement. Patients with a very mild condition can be given medicines to reduce inflammation, treat muscular spasm, increase blood supply to the joint, as well as provide medication to help reorganize the joint structure. This is usually supplemented with local therapy in the form of application of medicated oils and local fomentation. Mild exercises also help along with oral medication and local therapy. This treatment is usually sufficient for patients suffering from the second stage of AVN.

Unfortunately, most patients present for Ayurvedic treatment when AVN has progressed to stage 3 or 4, that is, the last stages of the condition. In this scenario, highly aggressive treatment needs to be instituted to bring about an early resolution of symptoms and healing to the maximum extent possible. Ayurvedic medication needs to be given in high doses for a period of at least six to eight months. In addition, highly fortified medicated enemas are given once every week for a period of two or three months.

Even in an advanced stage of AVN, Ayurvedic herbal therapy is highly effective and successful in treating and resolving all the symptoms of pain, stiffness and limitation of movement. Patients who take treatment and physiotherapy regularly become free of symptoms in just a span of three to five months and carry on their day-to-day activities in a normal way. Medications can then be tapered gradually depending upon the response of the patient and severity of symptoms. Low dose supplementation therapy can be continued in order to maintain the process of joint healing and reorganization, as well as to prevent a relapse of the condition.

Ayurvedic herbal therapy is safe even for long-term use. Ayurvedic herbal treatment can thus be judiciously utilized in the successful and effective management of AVN at all its different stages of presentation.

Can A Person With Bipolar Disorder Be Successfully Self-Employed?

If you suffer from a long-term mental illness, like bipolar disorder, it’s possible that your level of confidence in your ability to successfully start and manage a business of your own has eroded with time. Your efforts in the past may have left you feeling like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole – both in your business pursuits, and in the path of traditional employment.

If not approached correctly, starting a business can be dangerous for a person with bipolar disorder, adding fuel to the fires of both mania and depression. People with bipolar disorder can be subject to manic delusions of grandeur, pursuing unrealistic business ideas, along with having grandiose and unrealistic expectations of themselves. After the period of mania wears off, the depressive mindset will likely set in, and with it, a realistic view of the unrealistic business they had been so excited about. They may feel foolish, and like a failure, and they may have also hurt and let down many people who believed in them.

This cycle of feelings of grandiosity followed by feelings of failure is harmful to the health and stability of the person with bipolar disorder, and may cause them to give up on themselves altogether. After many such let-downs and disappointments, many people with bipolar disorder who have great potential end up on disability, or otherwise dependent on others for their survival.

If you have bipolar disorder, starting your own business can be one of the best things you can do for yourself and your health – as long as you approach it in the right way. It’s important for you to gain perspective and understanding in order to tame the possibility of poor judgment based on manic impulses. You may gain this insight from recognition of your past patterns and mistakes in business, or if you’re lucky enough not to have made any, from awareness of the potential pitfalls of both mania and depression in your business.

Ideally you can find a trusted friend and advisor to help support you with your goals of successful self-employment. This person should be a logical, grounded and rational critical thinker who has an understanding of bipolar disorder. He or she can be the sounding board for your plans, and you will need to rely on this person to help you by telling you when your ideas or judgment is poor. Your advisor can also help motivate you when your mood is depressed.

You’re going to need to train your mind to approach your business in the right way, rather than in the incredible excitement, creativity and grandiosity that may have fueled your past endeavors. Be realistic, and know your weaknesses. You want to keep your stress levels down, so be careful not to do too much. If you find yourself beginning to work unstoppably 12-16 hours a day, it’s time to force yourself to stop. Check in with your advisor to let them know you have to take a break, and do whatever you need to do to take care of your elevating mood, such as calling your psychiatrist and/or therapist.

Have realistic expectations and set small goals. This will prevent you from setting yourself up for disappointment, failure and depression. Don’t start with dreams of becoming an overnight millionaire – simply begin with small steps. Be sure to find a good accountant – many small businesses may start out by making only a hundred or a few hundred dollars a month. By maximizing your tax write-offs, you can make up for this.

A good type of business for someone with bipolar disorder is a small home business. A home business is something you can start small and build up slowly, you won’t need a lot of money to get started. You can set your own hours and limits, taking on only as much as you are capable of without over-stressing yourself. With a home business, you have the flexibility you need in coping with this disorder. You’ll still be able to find the time for all the various tasks you already have throughout the week such as doctor’s appointments, support groups, exercise, therapy, filling prescriptions, and so on.

There are an incredible number of benefits for a person with bipolar disorder starting a home business. You will find something that uses your talents and skills, and your confidence will increase dramatically. Having a regular responsibility that you enjoy will help you to be more healthy and stable. Your business will keep your mind active, and if you’ve been on disability it’s likely you’ll appreciate having something to do.

As your income increases and you take advantage of your tax deductions, you can get better insurance, more easily pay for your medication, and enjoy your increasing quality of life overall. As you take control of your income, you can begin to be relieved of the major stressor of poverty and financial need. Your self-esteem will rise as you become more independent and less dependent. You’ll be able to start paying off your debts. And, being self-employed, you have created your own job security.

There are a great many more benefits to having your own home business if you have a mental illness. Finding a home business that fits and approaching it in the right way is one of the best things a person with bipolar disorder can do for their financial, mental and emotional health.

I’m Losing So Much Hair With Chronic Telogen Effluvium I’m Afraid I’ll Go Bald

I often hear from people who believe that they have chronic telogen effluvium and who are quite panicked. Often, their hair has been shedding for some time with no signs of slowing down and they are very worried that, if something doesn’t change very soon, they are eventually going to thin so much that they will reach the point of baldness.

I heard from someone who said “my hair has been shedding terribly for eight months. I’m assuming that this is chronic telogen effluvium or CTE because it’s gone on for much longer than six months. And, it is just as bad today as it was when this whole thing started. I have seen no improvement whatsoever in the number of hairs that are falling out. It doesn’t matter what type of shampoo I use or what I eat or how I groom my hair, I am always going to lose an alarming amount of hair every single day. It is at the point that I’m worried that I am eventually going to go bald. My hair is so much more thin now than it was when this all started. And I find myself wondering how much worse this can possibly get. Because at this rate, I worry that eventually I will go bald.

If This Is Really Chronic Telogen Effluvium, You Should Be Regrowing Hair As You Are Shedding It Which Should Prevent Baldness: I know firsthand that you can lose an alarming amount of hair when you are shedding like this. I know that every day can feel as if you are getting closer to the point of no return as far as your hair goes. But, if you have chronic telogen effluvium (or even the non chronic form) then you should know that the hair that you are shedding should be regrowing at the same time. And this process takes around 2 – 3 months. So the hair that you are regrowing right now is replacing hair that feel out 2 – 3 months ago. Yes, the hairs that come in are short and do not provide much coverage at first, but they should certainly prevent baldness.

I won’t lie to you. Some people who have severe CTE with no signs of it ever letting up feel the need to get a topper or to wear powders or extensions to make their hair appear more full. Some even chose wigs to help to restore their confidence. But I know of no one who reached the point of total baldness from any effluvium. I am sure that it’s possible and that perhaps someone will correct me on this or even disagree. But this is my experience. I’m not saying that your hair won’t get much more thin, but I have my doubts about baldness.

With this said, there are hair loss conditions that do reach the point of baldness such as alopecia totalis or severe and progressive androgenetic alopecia, but that wasn’t what was being discussed here. Still, if you think there’s any chance that you don’t have CTE and instead have something else, then you may wish to discuss this with your doctor.

Never Stop Looking For A Trigger Or Some Relief: Sometimes, when you have ongoing shedding, you begin to feel as if it is never going to end and there is a real risk in giving up. Please don’t give up. Chronic shedding can sometimes be caused by a reoccurring trigger that, once removed, will improve your situation or even slow or stop the shedding. I do understand that sometimes, you have tried and tried and you can still not find any cause. But that doesn’t mean that you should stop looking or that you should stop trying things that might improve your situation like lessening any inflammation and supporting healthy regrowth.

Side Effects of Chemotherapy on Mesothelioma Patients

While doctors might choose from an assortment of available medicines to care for malignant mesothelioma patients, a combination treatment with two chemotherapy drugs—pemetrexed disodium (marketed as Alimta) and cisplatin (marketed as Platinol)—is a mainstay. The two drugs are typically used in patients when surgery is not an option.

Pemetrexed received approval from the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2004 for the treatment of malignant pleural mesothelioma, a cancer of the chest cavity lining, after a randomized clinical trial showed that the drug, given with cisplatin, extended patients’ average survival time longer than cisplatin alone.

As the first drug shown to be effective against pleural mesothelioma, pemetrexed received priority review from the FDA. As with most chemotherapy treatments, mesothelioma patients are vulnerable to experiencing side effects from the combination of pemextrexed and cisplatin. In more than half the patients in the clinical trial, the treatment suppressed bone marrow function, which might lead to low counts of white blood cells, the body’s infection fighters. It’s important that mesothelioma patients on pemetrexed and cisplatin tell their doctors immediately about any signs of infection, such as fever or chills or mouth ulcers. Vitamin B-12 and folic acid are administered with pemetrexed to reduce the risk of a low white cell count, as well as the likelihood of other side effects. Cisplatin and pemetrexed also lowered red blood cell counts in about one-quarter of the mesothelioma patients in the clinical trial. This condition, known as anemia, can cause fatigue. Medicines are available to treat both low white and low red blood cell counts. Also, research has shown that moderate exercise can help reduce cancer patients’ fatigue, and perhaps lessen pain.

Mesothelioma patients on pemetrexed could also experience a drop in their platelet count. Platelets help the blood to clot, and patients with reduced levels of platelets should report any signs of bleeding. These patients also might be asked to take precautions to avoid even minor injuries that might cause bleeding, such as using a soft toothbrush to prevent gum bleeding. Nausea and vomiting are very common side effects of the pemetrexed-cisplatin combination; fortunately, effective anti-nausea medicines can be prescribed. Patients should promptly tell their doctors about those symptoms—as well as rash, diarrhea, constipation, sore or gritty eyes and other health concerns. It’s important that mesothelioma patients keep their health care teams fully informed of side effects and avoid choosing over-the-counter treatments without medical consultation.

What Causes Pulsatile Tinnitus or Pulsating Tinnitus

If you can hear a very distinct rhythmic pulse in your ears that synchronizes with your heart beat, there is a big possibility that you are suffering from a certain type of tinnitus called Pulsatile Tinnitus aka Pulsating Tinnitus.

Pulsatile Tinnitus Causes

According to Otolaryngologists or ENT, Pulsatile Tinnitus is commonly caused by irregularities of blood flow in a person’s arteries located in the neck or head, abnormalities in brain structure and sometimes it is caused by brain tumor.

In a study conducted by Dr. Robert Levine-clinician, researcher and director of Tinnitus Clinic at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmatory in Boston, Pulsatile Tinnitus cause to some people is untraceable and they find no abnormalities even if they go through an extensive examination.

Dr. Levine explained that the probable cause of Pulsatile Tinnitus to these people is possibly associated with:

1. A sound generated by blood vessels near the inner ear beyond the doctors diagnostic capabilities.

2. There is no acoustic sound produced. The Tinnitus is caused by some type of neural activity different from a person’s heart beat. For example, if a blood vessel is pressing against the auditory nerve connecting the inner ear to the brain, a doctor may not be able to trace the cause of pulsating sound in a person because the disorder affects the hearing related activities of the brain.

Other experts on the disorder say that many of the people suffering from Pulsatile Tinnitus are caused by a chronic inflammation in the inner ear. The increased blood flow damages the delicate tissue present in the ear that causes Patulous Eustachian Tube.

Patulous Eustachian Tube is unusual physical disorder where the Eustachian tube which is normally closed remains sporadically open. When this happens a person may hear his own voice, breathing and heartbeat that vibrate directly into the ear drum. If the tube is infected or injured, fluid builds up in the middle ear that causes Pulsating Tinnitus.

Doctors believe that another cause of Pulsatile Tinnitus is Sinusitis, an inflammation of the paranasal sinuses due to allergies or virus infection. If a person takes more than the prescribed dosage of antibiotics, it will thicken the mucous in the inner ear which needs to be flushed out if not the person may suffer the consequences of a pulsating sound.

Hypothyroidism also causes Pulsating Tinnitus because it causes the heart to beat faster causing a pulsating noise. Other causes include diabetes, hypertension, too much stress in a person’s daily life, lack of rest and exercise.

You must understand that Pulsatile Tinnitus is a common disorder for many people especially among senior citizens. This condition can be prevented and there are available treatments.

A person suffering from Pulsating Tinnitus should be examined by an ENT to pin point the possible cause of the disorder. The doctor will be able to listen to the pulsating sound in and around the ear by using a stethoscope or through a minute electronic microphone placed inside the ear canal called Ausculscope.

If the doctor is able to diagnose the cause of a person’s Pulsatile Tinnitus, he will be able to advice the patient with treatment options and preventive measures.

Great Tips on Frame Type Selection – Full Rim, Semi Rim or Rimless Frames?

With the development of prescription glasses, more and more different designed eyeglass frames have become available. Normally, frames can be divided into three different types – full rim, semi rim and rimless. Many people may ask about which frame type is better when they prepare to buy the prescription glasses at retail stores or online stores. Actually, each frame type has its own features.

Full rim eyeglasses, also called “hide-a-bevel” eyeglasses. They are not only the most original eyeglasses but also the most common and used designs. They encircle the prescription lenses completely; can hold the lenses tightest, and also available for the thinnest prescription lenses. The full rim eyeglasses frames do a good job of avoiding the edges of the lenses exposed; they are the good choice for people who have strong prescriptions.

Semi rim eyeglasses frames, also known as “grooved” frames, only cover half the prescription lenses. There are nylon strings or liners running along the bottom of the prescription lenses to hold the lenses, so the semi rim frames are lighter than full rim frames. For these frames, when we assemble the prescription glasses, we need to cut grooves into the prescription lenses edges. For this reason, the thicker lenses are required for the semi rim eyeglass frames in order to not chip and crack.

Rimless eyeglass, as the name implies, have no rim. The lenses are joined by the nose bridge and the temples are joined to the lenses on the other ends. The rimless rim eyeglass are the lightest eyewear. They are timeless as they are very simple, and make you look confident and versatile. But due to there is no rim surrounding the lenses providing sufficient protection, they are least durable. Additional, the rimless eyeglass frame put very high amount of stress on the prescription lenses, so it is recommended that CR39 lenses should be avoided to use, and high index lenses with better durability are recommended such as polycarbonate lenses.

Chiropractic and Subacromial Bursitis

In my ten years of chiropractic practice I have seen a multitude of patients with impingement syndrome an adhesive capsulitis. These conditions don’t just happen overnight. Many times they start as bursitis that goes ignored and untreated. Get educated and get treatment.

Subacromial bursitis is a condition caused by inflammation of the bursa that separates the top surface of the supraspinatus tendon (one of the four tendons of the rotator cuff) from the overlying ligaments, the scapula (shoulder blade) and from the bottom surface of the deltoid muscle. The subacromial bursa helps the motion of the supraspinatus tendon of the rotator cuff in activities such as overhead work. Inflammatory bursitis is usually the result of repetitive injury to the bursa. In the subacromial bursa, this generally occurs due to microtrauma to near by structures, particularly the supraspinatus tendon. The inflammatory process causes increased fluid production within the bursa and reduction in the outside layer of lubrication. The bursa facilitates the motion of the rotator cuff beneath the boney structures of the scapula, any disturbance of the relationship of the subacromial structures can lead to impingement. These factors can be broadly classified as intrinsic such as tendon degeneration, rotator cuff muscle weakness and over -use. Extrinsic factors include bone spurs from the acromion or A-C joint, shoulder instability and neurologic problems arising outside of the shoulder. Subacromial bursitis often presents with a combination of symptoms called impingement syndrome.

Pain along the front and side of the shoulder is the most common symptom and may cause weakness and stiffness. If the pain resolves and weakness persists other causes should be evaluated such as a tear of the rotator cuff or a neurological problem arising from the neck or entrapment of the suprascapular nerve. The onset of pain may be sudden or gradual and may or may not be related to trauma. Impingement may be brought on by sports activities, such as overhead throwing sports and swimming, or overhead work such as painting, carpentry or plumbing or slicing meat at the deli. Activities that involve repetitive overhead activity, or directly in front, may cause shoulder pain. Direct upward pressure on the shoulder, such as leaning on an elbow may increase pain. Night time pain, especially sleeping on the affected shoulder, is often reported. Localized redness or swelling are less common and suggest an infected subacromial bursa. In patients who are less than forty years old, the diagnosis of impingement syndrome should be viewed with caution because these patients may have subtle glenohumeral instability.

Many non-operative treatments have been advocated, including Chiropractic manual therapy; and local modalities such as cryotherapy, ultrasound, electrophysical modalities.

Shoulder bursitis rarely requires surgical intervention. Surgery is reserved for patients who fail to respond to non-operative measures.

Goals for treatment:

Reduce inflammation; reduce pain, prevent weakness and atrophy of muscles as a result of disuse, prevent/reduce impingement and further tissue damage. Educate the patient about their condition and advise to avoid painful activities and the importance of relative rest of the shoulder prevention of pain and impingement which delays the healing process.

Treatment:

Chiropractic manual therapy

Electrophysical modalities and Ice

Low intensity pulsed ultrasound (3 Hz)

May use head of humerus repositioning tape, such as Kinesio tape.

Justification: Has a neurophysiological affect reducing pain and improving synovial fluid flow, improving healing. Promotes correct posture and puts muscles in the optimal length tension relationship, reducing impingement. Centers humeral head and facilitates adequate muscle timing and recruitment.

To reduce inflammation and pain and facilitate healing.

To maintain the head of humerus in its central position for optimal muscle recruitment

How Much is Lasik Eye Surgery Going to Cost Me?

However, there are many factors that will determine how much the surgery will cost. Here are a few examples.

1. the condition of your eyes

The condition of your eyes will play probably the biggest roll in determining how much your surgery will cost. This mainly is due to the fact that your eye surgeon will have to choose from a range of different types of procedures in order to most appropriately treat your vision situation. Examples of the different sorts of laser eye surgeries include Lasik, Custom Lasik and Wavefront Lasik, just to name a few.

2. your location

Lasik eye surgery prices vary, depending upon where you live. In the U.S., for example, you have to take into account the economic scenario in whatever state that you currently reside is. For example, Lasik will probably be more expensive in a more heavily populated state like California than it would be in, say, Wisconsin.

3. the surgeon

Lasik, like many more advanced medical procedures, is an art. And some specialists have more experience than others. Once you have decided to undergo laser eye surgery, it is important to make sure that you choose a reputable company and surgeon. Of course, some will be charging more than others, so you might have to take that into account as well.

4. insurance

Although most medical insurance companies currently do not cover Lasik, many HMO’s and PPO’s will have contracts with certain clinics in order to provide a reduced rate for you, so be sure to look into that aspect as well when figuring your laser eye surgery costs.

So, confused enough yet? Just want to know the ballpark of what you are looking at paying for Lasik? Well, the average cost of Lasik is about 1000 dollars per eye for standard Lasik (the original, simpler Lasik procedure) and around $2000+ per eye for procedures like Wavefront Lasik (a newer, more advanced option that uses two lasers instead of one). The price, therefore, can vary highly depending on which surgery you should have, and it is important to keep in mind that just because, for example, the older version of Lasik is cheaper, doesn’t mean that it is not more appropriate for you simply due to the condition of your eyes; i.e., some people will have better results with the older version than the newer.

So, in summary, laser eye surgery is a highly affordable procedure that can vary in cost depending upon many factors. But, if do all the research you can before you decide to go “under the laser”, you have the potential to change your vision for the better with the many advanced new laser techniques of Lasik eye surgery. Good luck!

Kamasutra and Ramayana – Comparing Epics

As long as individuality is a word linked with the human lexicon, whenever we draw comparisons, we’ll need to strive to simply make the definitions comply. The question is not that we’re discussing terms or epics here; the real issue is that we’re attempting to compare them. How would commonplace sanity allow the comparison of a chair and a gallon of nuclear waste? How can a person even tend to compare ubiquitous logic and the Pythagoras theorem? Worldly things have a prototype of an accessible station that none can make them defy, and exploiting their accessibility is a diabolical thing to do. It is tantamount to marrying for sex, or buying a car to barely sit in. It is rude, it is inane and mostly, it is unacceptable. If we construct some conduit of comprehension between two epics, nothing can confirm that either we in ours, or the medium itself, are overruled by an inconsistent resolution. The reason to that is not that we dare not brave the occasion, but instead that the occasion simply isn’t affected by easy bravery, that the source to the inconsistency is not personal, but the inconsistency is automatic, circumstantial, born of engineered comparisons greater than the one we aspire to. In easier lingo, we cannot bring down a mountain with a hammer and a nail.

Comparing epics is not cumbersome, for we denote something as cumbersome if we believe that it doesn’t resist the possibility of being enacted… comparing epics is impossible, or rather, comparison in its conception serves as a non-existent medium, not linking, not involving, not perturbing the ends, rather subtly moving between them. We cannot device a degree that satisfies an ideal comparison, and hence, any designs at comparison will remain vague, insubstantial, callow, crude, unnecessary and shapeless. If it still tasking to let the fact seem credible, then try comparing maps, rivers, tides, men, women, moon, and the sun, and if you near conclusion, test the foundation on which you judge, and you’ll perhaps understand how comparison is never more than personal.

Since the abomination need be executed, it need be quick and painless, like a heart attack whilst one sleeps. I shall endeavor to compare the beastly epics ‘Kamasutra’ and ‘Ramayana’.

Kamasutra is one of India’s oldest epics, and it is also one of the most illustrious. The only form of knowledge about the Kamasutra that is not commonly known is that it was written by Mallangana Vatsyayana, around 250 A.D., was written in sutras in Sanskrit, is an epic about the folks of Nagaraka, and that it is about embracing sexual pleasure. The notable rest of the Kamasutra can be read ideally in serialized forms on the feted graffiti scrawled on the walls of a boy’s toilet in any institutional building, or can be surveyed with visual aids in the more popular segregated corners of the same, or if all resorts fail, then the delicate knowledge that the Kamasutra confers can be contrived at a very lucrative rate at the Pallika bazaar. The Kamasutra is the Hindu sex-manual. It is tendentious to adultery, lesbianism, open sex, illicit sex, positions that Olympic gold-medlalists for acrobatics will find arduous to engineer, is controversially in opposition to oral sex, and merrily vilifies and belittles women to nothing but mere fun sexual objects to a degree gross enough to set convulsions up a feminist’s back. Conclusively, the Kamasutra is about sex. And hence, in our approach to the ensuing epic, this is the tool we shall need to employ to stab while we woo. Comparison needs to based on the commonality of a facet, so what remains to be done is prove that Ramayana is as immensely foul a sexual epic as the Kamasutra.

Whether we’re in a lavatory creating dusky excreta, or slipping off a soap-bar in a bathroom – ‘hey ram’ is a favorite amongst exclamation marks. Ramayana is not something that one can wash his hands off with a bathetic synopsis or sullied with brevity in a vain attempt at summarizing for the details, the nature of the epic, the enormity of its conception, cannot possibly be synthesized or concentrated into a few words. However, if desperation piques more than reverence then – ram went to a jungle with his wife and not-so-temperate brother, started a war, collated an army of freaky monkeys, one of them having a fetish for arson, and defeated a bloke with ten heads and an earthen pot for where his pancreas should’ve been. There’re rarely individuals reared in India without the self-governing fear of god, i.e., Ram, without the know-how of the Ramayana, and of course, for the joyous ignoramuses, Doordarshan aired an entire series devoted to the epic and still gladly has reruns airing every weekend.

Now, the comparison need be put to effect. And do remember the heartening word ‘sex’.

Perception is like a trained dog. You can set it on anything and expect at least a foot to be bitten off. If we begin perceiving immorally and with a tad iniquity, or debatably, with a lesser myopic sense than the archetype ingrained in our sick Indian mentalities, the Ramayana can be viewed, like the Kamasutra, as a practical sex manual.

Now, arbitrary qualms need be raised, and arbitrary conclusions need be heralded.

Since, Ram’s dad is a man with a stellar flock of wives, so the Ramayana definitely nods upon not only polygamy but also threesomes and foursomes. Laxman’s (and even Bharat’s) craving to accompany Ram into a forest for the extensive period of the exile illustrates a very filthy homosexual approach. The savamvar needed Ram to break Shiva’s bow to ‘earn’ Sita as his wife, can be mechanized into a very fitting allegory… okay, imagine, Ram needs to ‘break’ a certain ‘something’ to ultimately ‘deflower’ Sita. Next, in the forest, what unambiguous, precise, justified reason do Laxman and Ram possess, instead of the lame one of scanning out food, for leaving behind Sita and heading into the forest, alone, with arrows and other phallic instrument that can be interpreted as ‘tools to contrive obscene homosexual pleasure’? Jatayu is a character tangentially consequent to circumstances related to Sita… the word ‘Jatayu’ is a convoluted etymological contribution of the word ‘Jata’ which in the layman’s Hindi translates into ‘hair’, and thus, Valmiki, the paragon amongst perverts, was alluding actually to Sita’s pubic hair. The invasion of Lanka by Hanuman and the act of

These are only few of the multitudes of connotations scattered in the text. By keen observations and a keener sense for obscurities, one can perhaps garner the consummate acknowledgement of Ramayana as an epic that not only preaches sex, but abstractly advocates a heterodoxical attitude.

Thus, much reluctantly, the epics lay compared.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), For Adults With Asperger’s Or Autism

Managing emotions can be especially difficult for adults with a diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome or autism. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, commonly called CBT, can be an effective means of coping with mental health issues, including difficult emotions such as depression, repetitive thoughts, or anxiety.

Many individuals with Asperger’s, autism or an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) dread the idea of seeing a psychotherapist. The thought of analyzing past relationships, talking about early childhood experiences, and dwelling on emotions can seem dull, pointless or painful. They may imagine a therapy session as something like what Freud did, or Woody Allen on a couch and the therapist nodding and asking about dreams. Or, they picture a stereotyped TV therapist, asking “How did that make you feel?” over and over. With these images of therapy, it’s not surprising that many individuals may choose to live with their emotional pain, rather than see a therapist.

But, there are other options!

Therapy can be much more practical and goal oriented than these images may lead you to believe, and that’s just what many individuals with Asperger’s or autism are interested in. And that’s where CBT comes in.

CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts (or cognitions), our emotions, and our behaviors are intertwined. By becoming aware of our thoughts, examining them, and analyzing them, we can determine how these thoughts are triggering depressed or anxious feeling or behaviors. The ideas behind the thoughts can be tested for false logic or incorrect generalizations. Since many individuals with autism or Asperger’s excel at logical thinking, examining their own thoughts for illogical patterns can seem very natural.

CBT does deal with emotion, but in a concrete way. Emotions are discussed and often explained in depth, so they can be better understood. Many CBT therapists have their clients rate and measure their emotions, as a means of being better aware of them. How the emotion is experienced in the body may be explored. The idea is that better understanding of emotions, how they feel, and what functions they serve, can allow people to manage them more easily. Again, this practical and precise approach can feel very natural to those on the autism spectrum.

Please don’t confuse CBT with ABA. ABA, or Applied Behavior Analysis, is often referred to as Behavior Therapy, but it’s not Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. ABA is a specific therapy, often used with autistic children, to teach new behaviors. It is not psychotherapy, it doesn’t deal with emotions or issues like depression, anxiety or repetitive thoughts. CBT may incorporate a behavioral theme, such as setting up a regular exercise program as part of the symptom management, but it’s not about giving adults little rewards every time they follow the therapist’s requests. There’s also some confusion about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy versus Cognitive Therapy. Strictly speaking, Cognitive Therapy is one type of therapy, that falls under the umbrella of more general types of CBT. In practice, most therapists use the words “Cognitive Therapy” and “Cognitive Behavioral Therapy” interchangeably.

Ready to give CBT a try? Most therapists don’t list themselves as CBT therapists, since they will use other techniques when appropriate. It’s probably more important to find a therapist who is familiar with Asperger’s and autism, and one who really enjoys working with individuals on the autism spectrum. Tell your potential therapist that you’re interested in a more concrete, practical approach, define the goals you’re looking for, and ask of they use CBT regularly.

You can be feeling better soon!

Diagnosis And Treatments Of Nails Diseases And Problems

Nails are parts of our body that are themselves colorless and transparent. They are situated at the fingers of our hands and legs. Nails are good reflectors of our health as well as our beauty. In a healthy condition the color of nails is the pink because of the vigorous blood under the nails. If you hardly press a nail, it appears milky because the blood under the nail is displaced.

Those who are living under stress or are going through anemia or are having some other disease, they donâ??t have pink nails. The color may be white or yellow. Spotless and smooth nails are a sign of good health and beauty.

Here, we are discussing about diagnosis of diseases and treatments of diseases related to nails. There may be various diseases related to this. Some of the diagnosis and treatments of diseases related to nails are explained here.

First of all we should do the diagnosis of diseases related to nails. Twisted or curved nails at the edges are a sign of lung or heart diseases. Anemia can cause twisted and curved nails. Crooked and twisted lump on the nail obstructs the growth of this. Generally, debility and ligamentary weakness is the main cause of it. Occasionally, a child may have fingers without nails from his birth. Such a child is generally bald by birth. Roughness and lack of smoothness of nails are signs of calcium deficiency. Lack of calcium leads to lose the brightness and impede the growth of nails to full size. If it will not grow, they will not be very soft and thin.

Now, we should talk about treatment of diseases related to nails. In case if your nails are detached from the skin, broken or torn, you should immerse your finger in warm mustard oil for about 10 minutes and then you should rub it or fingers smoothly so that blood circulation can be reinstated in them. If your nails are very weak then you should take food rich in calcium and milk in plenty. Milk is very beneficial in any disease related to nails. You should massage it with olive oil to make them strong and bright. If alum salt is mixed along with olive oil and regularly applied on this then the nails will not be brittle. You may also use coconut or turpentine oil as a treatment of any disease related to nail and for maintaining the natural strength and brightness of the nails.

Lemon is a best treatment of any type of disease related to nails. If it have problem in growing in the normal way, you should dip your finger in warm lemon water for approx 5 minutes, after that immediately put them in cold water. It will help in the growth of your nails. For making them beautiful and strong, you should apply lemon juice on the nails; you should clean the fingers, and massage them with lemon and should let them dry up. You may also use lemon for making them brighten. Squeeze the juice out of lemons and then rub it with the rind. It will help you to make the nails brighten.

Thus, in this article we have talked much about diagnosis and treatments of diseases related to nails.
