Purchasing Your First Jet Ski And What You Need To Know Before You Do

How many times have you been out at the lake or ocean and seen numerous people whizzing about on jet skis having the time of their life, wishing you were out there with them? They are very fast and maneuverable, and there is always plenty of splash action to keep you cool on a hot day! They are probably the number one serious rental toy at the beach at most resorts around the world, and for a good reason. They’re fun to drive!

There are many different types and models of jet skis (also called waverunners), and I’m going to run through a few of them. I’ve personally had a Sea-Doo GTX for several years and I may be somewhat biased, but I consider them to be the best and most popular selling brand. The company definitely knows how to market, and they have a lion’s share of the sales today. Sea-Doo has been around for quite a while and they’ve got a great reputation in the industry for ease of use and that they are also extremely easy to take care of and maintain. Any problems associated with Sea-Doo’s are often relatively minor, and can be usually inexpensive to fix. Of course, with any big piece of machinery there are always exceptions, and you’ll want to treat it as nicely as you can in order for you to keep enjoying the benefits of being out on the water for years to come. Seriously, I’ve seen people go out and tear apart a brand new waverunner just because they want to take it to the limit each and every time in their quest for fun. These are the people who will probably end up selling off that same waverunner within a year or two because they’ve abused it so bad it doesn’t run as well as it used to, so when purchasing a used jet ski it’s best to really learn everything about its history that you can.

Speed and maneuverability are not the only reasons to purchase a jet ski; the larger models are also great for extended touring trips or all day excursions. They are incredibly stable and some will have huge amounts of dry storage space for picnics, clothes, or other items that you may need when you stop. That has become one of my favorite reasons for having the GTX now, is just being able to take off and see where the day leads you, knowing that you’ve got everything stored away for any eventuality! The first few years that I’ve had the jet ski I used extensively in the Gulf of Mexico and salt water, and I can’t begin to tell you the things I’ve seen and experiences I’ve enjoyed with that jet ski! Imagine yourself about an hour or so from sunset just laying around on your jet ski with the motor off just enjoying life and suddenly a pod of 30 dolphins come right up and nose about chasing after fish! I’ve had that happen a few times, and it’s just one of the memorable times I can say that I’ve had with my salt water jet skiing. More recently, I’ve used my Sea-Doo mainly in fresh water lakes around the Atlanta area, and I can tell you that even though some of the lakes tend to get very crowded on weekends that it is also a very enjoyable experience! On a hot day in the summertime, there’s nothing better than hitting the lake with your jet ski to cool off and swim. I’ve found that one main difference with busy lakes as opposed to the open ocean is that you will need to keep your head on a swivel much more to avoid any collisions with other boats or people. On a busy day, there are also many waves caused by the wakes of other boats and water-skiers and you will need to keep an eye on them as well.

The difference between salt water and fresh water jet skiing can also be found in the maintenance of the vessel, and the salt really does play havoc with any exposed metals parts, especially on your trailer! As you can expect, you are totally dunking your trailer in salt water each and every time that you put your jet ski into the water, so after every use you will need to give both your waverunner and trailer a good washing to try and get as much salt off as possible. Even with that, you will still get a fair amount of rusting on the trailer, but that’s nothing to worry about. Just do your part after every use, and it should take care of you for years to come. Remember to also grease the ball bearings in the wheels every year or two (any certified shop can do this for you), because repeated dunking in salt water can wash the grease away over time. If you are using your jet ski mainly in fresh water, there is much less maintenance involved. The maintenance shop that I use suggests giving it a good wash once or twice a year, and not to worry about hosing it down after every trip out unless it’s just really dirty. Fresh water will not cause it to rust any more, but of course greasing the ball bearings at least twice a year is still recommended. If you live in an area where they actually have winter and you won’t be able to use your jet ski year round (anywhere not in Florida!), then you will also probably also need to have your battery charged back up in the springtime because it tends to lose its charge over a couple of months on non-use unless kept plugged into an outlet continuously.

Other brands of jet skis that are also very popular are Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda, and Polaris. Polaris is probably the smallest company of the bunch, and you will only see these machines rarely out there. Yamaha is a very popular rental jet ski, and you will see these quite frequently on the lakes and bays. Many people will get their first experience with a waverunner from a rental company, whether it’s a nearby lake or a weeklong trip to some exotic locale. This is a great way to “get your feet wet” so to speak, but understand these rental companies will always have a governed down version of the jet ski in order to slow the speeds so that nobody will hurt themselves or hurt others. Top speed in the rental industry will rarely exceed 35 or 40 mph, and Sea-Doo even has two owners’ keys specifically for that reason. They have a “learning key” which has a top speed of about 35 mph for beginners and rental companies to use. Once the owner has mastered this speed, then they can progress up to the regular key which can have a top speed up to 70 mph or in some cases even higher! However, anything above 60 mph can be a really crazy ride, and you don’t want to fall off or be thrown off the Jet Ski at that speed! Imagine hitting concrete at those speeds, that’s kind of like the water when you’re going very fast! So be warned!

As long as you take care of you brand new Jet Ski and properly maintain it, there is no reason that it won’t provide you with many, many years of fun and enjoyment for yourself and your family. With purchasing a new jet ski, you at least know what you’re getting as far as a good machine. There will be a factory warranty and sometimes you can also purchase a nice extended warranty, and you will probably not have any initial problems with it at all. However, with a used model you really do not know what you’re getting and you’ll want to do your homework to make sure that it wasn’t abused by the owner or damaged in some way. There is a lot of opportunity for damaging the machine on the waterways, including grounding out on shoals, operating in very shallow water, hitting rocks just under the surface, running into other boats or people, or even traffic accidents on the road. It might be best to have a certified marine mechanic take a look at it before purchasing, just to make sure. There is a huge price difference between used and new however, so if you can find a used machine in great shape you will save a large amount of money between the purchase of a new machine.

I hope I covered some useful information for those of you interested in purchasing your first jet ski, and maybe gave you some things to think about to make sure you are choosing the right one. Also, to give you a good idea of the general maintenance involved and to steer you clear of the many urban legends about how having a jet ski is a bad idea and you will grow to regret it. I’ve loved every minute of my Sea-Doo, and I look back at the purchase as an impulsive buy, but a thoroughly great idea I had for years of enjoyment, both past and future! So have fun everyone, and I’ll see you on the lakes and byways of the world!

The Many Styles of Midfacial Implants For Aesthetic Facial Augmentation

The use of synthetic implants for augmenting skeletal deficiencies of the chin, cheeks, and jaw angles are common plastic surgery procedures. While these are common locations for implants, there are many more implant styles that can be used for facial enhancement of the midfacial area.

The bones of the midface have complex convexities and concavities from the prominences of the cheek to the concave surface of the maxilla. As a result, there is no one implant that can be used for all of them. Today’s midfacial implants have nine (9) different styles to meet these complex anatomical needs.

Cheek implants are the most frequently used facial implant next to that of the chin.. There are four different styles to choose. The standard cheek implant, also known as a malar implant, fits on top of the cheek bone and has a broad surface area that covers most of the external bony prominence. The two styles of this standard cheek implant differ in that the more extended version has a portion that goes up higher to make a smooth transition into the lateral orbital bone. The choice between one style vs. the other is based on how much flattening the cheek has and whether it extends up into the orbital area.

The submalar cheek implant is not the same as the malar implant. It is indicated when the cheek soft tissues are a little saggy with age and the area under the cheek prominence is a little sunken in. This implant fits on the underside of the cheek bone which helps lift up sagging tissues and fills out the sunken area under the cheek. The submalar cheek implant comes in two styles which differ in how much fullness is added to the submalar space.

The tear trough implant is a specialized lower orbital rim implant. It fills out the depressed suborbital groove that some people have naturally or develops from aging and tissue atrophy. This groove runs like a gutter from the inside of the eye downward. Instead of fat injections for augmentation of this area, a carefully placed tear trough implant provides a permanent solution.

The pyriform aperture implant fits along the bone which forms the side rim of the nasal cavity. It is designed to build out the base of the nose underneath the nostril. I have most commonly used this implant in secondary cleft surgery to build out the deficient maxillary bone where the cleft went through. But it is also helpful as part of rhinoplasty surgery when one has a flatter face.

The premaxillary or peri-pyriform implant builds out the entire base of the nose from one side of the pyriform aperture to the other. This includes anterior nasal spine area as well. For very flat midfaces, this implant can really help provide augmentation to the nose and upper lip.

The nasolabial or melo-labial groove implant fits onto the bone to the side of the nose and helps soften or build-out the very deep nasolabial fold or groove. Rather than using temporary injectable fillers placed beneath the skin, this implant placed on the underlying bone serves to provide the same push.

The Lefort or maxillary implant, the least common of all midfacial implants, is designed to be used during or after a LeFort I osteotomy. This implant would fit above the osteotomy line so that the midface would not look more deficient as the maxillary teeth come forward.

All midfacial implants, while being very different in shape and indication, share two common features. First, they are all placed from an incision inside the mouth so no skin incision is ever needed. Secondly, they are all best secured into position with a screw as their position is critical in getting the desired esthetic result.

What Is Transference and How Is It Involved With Massage Therapy?

If you are in the body-work industry, you should be very aware of transference, what it is and especially how it relates to your work. My understanding of transference is best illustrated by the following scenarios:

1. Therapist attends to a client with a headache, symptoms of a “bug,” acne, anger, fatigue, good or bad pregnancy-related issues, et al emotional scenarios. The client leaves happy, refreshed and ready for life, but the therapist suddenly, or later, starts exhibiting symptoms they didn’t have previously.

2. Client is nervous and unable to relax. Suddenly a usually-confident therapist starts feeling nervous and fidgety during the session (or the reverse scenario).

3. During the massage, the client or the therapist feels extremely powerful parasympathetic/reverse parasympathetic stimulation and begins to believe more is happening during the session than actually is. (Either could imagine they are “in love,” being “hit on,” harassed, touched inappropriately, etc).

4. Therapist and client knowingly or unknowingly disagree on the purpose of massage. (Clients can tell whether a therapist is committed to and believes in the therapy, or this is just a job and the therapist can’t wait to finish and go do other things.)

5. Client, or therapist, spends the session discussing personal matters/gossip and when they part, one or the other or both are still in the negative emotional place of the discussion.

6. Client or therapist decides when they meet that they don’t like one, the other, or each other.

7. Client has a preconceived idea of the skill set/caliber of the therapist and begins to condescend to or intimidate him/her; maybe say something negative about the establishment, etc.

8. Client has history with molestation and/or rape trauma and related issues, etc., and misconstrues “normal and professional” handling during the session as “harassment.”

9. Client gets upset during treatment (maybe the therapist forgot a “request not to do”) and either speaks angrily to the therapist, starts breathing angrily, or scowling or some other defensive reaction, verbal or non-verbal.

10. The session “takes the client to a place” they struggle or wasn’t prepared to go and this has caused an emotional release (laughter, crying, embarrassment, etc.), or physical release. (Unfair responsibility/blame, etc. can sometimes be projected in either direction.)

Any of the above illustrations will affect the business, the delivery and/or reception of service, the results of the therapy, as well as whether the client returns for follow-up care and/or whether the therapist exercises his/her right of refusal of such care. A certain “energy” change in that environment will happen and set a tone, much like when someone scorned, confident, powerful, loved, or esteemed, etc., walks into a room filled with people. That person can usually feel the “presence” of the mass and whatever the dominant energy is.

So how does one guard/shield from any energy transference? Any defense will have much to do with your belief systems and/or your own personal convictions, as well as your education. If you believe you are a conduit between the universal energy and the client, then you would know that to be effective at this task one needs to be centered, grounded and committed to being the best, purest, cleanest conduit with purpose. This is accomplished mainly by breathing, allowing energy to flow through you with limited attachment.

First, the therapist must be very confident and knowledgeable of their skill-set and especially their purpose for being in the business. Secondly, that therapist must understand their purpose for treating each client and keep “referring” to this mentally throughout treatment. Why am I touching this person and what result do I want them to have? For me, is massage just to “feel-good”? Equally important to these is BREATHING, with purpose. If the therapist is not breathing properly, hence administering self-care, he/she will interpret and react or respond to any “improper or inconvenient discovery”. The reverse of this also is true for the client. Both people need to focus on their breathing and purpose for being in that little room together regardless of the undertones. The deeper your breaths, the more oxygen your heart gets to pump and the faster the exit of energy flow to the universe; also, the more calm you’ll remain, grounded, collected and focused on the purpose at hand. When client and therapist work as a team with a common purpose or objective, there will be lots of room for the healthy benefits and enjoyment of massage therapy and less chance of transferring the unwanted.

The hands can transfer the energy, good or bad, from client to client, between therapists, and vice versa. It is imperative that each party, but especially the therapist, take care of “self” before, after and during the session, to allow for only a limited attachment to any unwanted “energy” or ailment. Wash your hands immediately after each session and before touching another person, including yourself. As soon as possible at the end of your day of giving/receiving therapy, get some cardio exercise, meditation, etc., and most definitely bathe. Depending on your convictions, as mentioned, a therapist might want to wash their clothes in preparation for the next day. Never go to bed unwashed after giving therapy to someone and if you are a client who felt some ailment or unwanted energy was transferred during your session, take another shower/bath. These are very effective in cleansing and soothing “the spirit” as well as the body.

Keratosis Pilaris Diet – The Right Foods To Diminish Your KP

If you’re after the Keratosis Pilaris diet you’ve come to the right place. There are some delicious foods you can eat to improve the condition of your skin but before I detail what they are let me share with you some information about Keratosis Pilaris first.

Keratosis Pilaris (KP) or “chicken skin” is a benign skin disorder that affects almost 80% of people of all ages but can be more common to children and adolescents. It is characterized by scattered patchy rashes or small red bumps on the skin, closely resembling goose bumps. It can typically be found at the back, in the arms, thighs or buttocks. It is usually chronic and can either get worse or better over time. It is not contagious and does not cause serious skin health problems. Although not medically alarming, it can however be quite distressing or unsightly for most people.

Keratosis Pilaris is a genetic disorder and is deemed to be incurable though sometimes it can clear itself without using any treatment. However, there are many treatments available that can control its symptoms so a person who is suffering from this skin condition should not feel discouraged at all. Many all-natural home remedies can also be done to moisturize and cleanse the skin so that this skin condition can be treated. It is also believed that diet can affect the chicken bumps on your skin. In fact, many people rely on a Keratosis Pilaris diet and do not take on any form of medication.

Some believe that diet does not affect KP at all but others believe that a healthy dose of foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids can help alleviate the effects of this skin disorder and improve the texture of the skin.

Some foods that are rich in Omega-3 are salmon, scallops, sardines, soybeans, walnuts, tofu and flax seeds.

A Keratosis pilaris diet should also consist of raw foods, especially vegetables, so that the nutrients can be quickly absorbed by the body. In fact, one should opt to switch to a vegan diet even for just half a year to be able to observe noticeable positive results. A vegan diet excludes meat, eggs and dairy products. It is also a good idea to completely stop eating junk foods.

In your diet, one should also avoid drinking coffee, alcoholic drinks and soda. One more thing to avoid is the protein gluten. This protein can be found in foods such as wheat, cereal, barley, rye, flavorings, stabilizers and many processed foods and beverages. On the other hand, Gluten-free foods include beans, potato, soy, rice and fresh fruits and vegetables.

Eating only vegetables and grains and moving away from the delicious foods we are used to can be quite difficult. But this is not an impossible task if you are seriously determined to reduce the symptoms of Keratosis Pilaris without buying expensive creams or having to pay costly medical bills. Eating foods rich in antioxidants is proven to be helpful for all skin types. Having a healthy diet can be quite beneficial to the overall health of a person and can even help to maintain a healthy weight.

However, one must not solely rely on diet as there are many natural home remedies to treat your Keratosis Pilaris.

Teas For Weight Loss

There are many different ways to embark on a weight loss program, perhaps you yourself have tried various different ways before, some of you will have been successful and others perhaps not so lucky.

You may be surprised to learn that one of the ways towards weight loss is in fact drinking tea – yes you heard or rather read right. Tea drinking, more specifically green tea. Researchers have actually concluded that drinking green tea can reduce body weight and has health benefits.

Let me tell you a bit about how it works. Green tea is enriched with antioxidants, which are compounds that protect other substances from oxidation.

Antioxidants help to protect cells from chemicals that have destructive actions called ‘free radicals’ which include aging and irregular metabolism. ‘Free radicals’ damage has been implicated in diseases such as heart disease, stroke and cancers. By regularly consuming food and drinks that are rich in antioxidants, we can help to soak up these ‘free radicals’. Fruit and vegetables are a good source of antioxidants but we can increase our intake by drinking tea, which is known to be rich in a particular group of antioxidants called flavonoids. Three cups of tea have about 8 times the amount of antioxidant power as there is in one apple.

The Chinese have been drinking green tea for hundreds of years to aid slimming. They use blends of traditional herbs and plants that are known have health giving properties in their green teas. These will usually include, tea leaves, usually oolong that are sun dried to prevent oxidation, Lotus leaf to clean the spleen and aid digestion and metabolism, Hawthorn for assisting digestion, Alisma Rhizome and Cassia seeds, both of which are used to support the body’s organs, and Poria which assists the immune system. You can even learn to make your own!!

In fact in general when you start drinking green tea you’ll be in good company. Famous people such as Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow and Eva Longoria are reported to regularly drink green tea. Best put the kettle on then before you settle back and read the rest!!

One of the more commonly known weight loss teas is Cho Yung Tea. This contains green tea and has an antioxidant function. As with all green teas, Cho Yung is a safe and natural way to improve your health and well being. The way it works is by oxidising fat rather than blocking its absorption. Rather than just take my word for it however, Chinas own Ministry of Health have given Cho Yung Tea a certificate of approval for health food, stating that it has a slimming effect.

As a stand-alone tea, Oolong has qualities of black and green tea. It has a distinctive fruity taste and a lovely golden colour. Again, the Chinese have always used it to aid weight loss and is present in the Cho Yung tea above. Oolong is widely used in many slimming remedies.

Yogi Tea produce an organic womens fitness tea, which again has been formulated using herbs that are said to support good metabolism, it uses Pu-erh tea which is known worldwide for weight loss properties, and is balanced with Mate from South America which is a natural energiser, and combined with Rosemary and Nettle, both of which are rich in nutrients.

Tea producers Birt & Tang have used the same method of combining the Pu-erh or Oolong tea with various different herbs and nutrients to have a range of weight loss teas to suit all palates. These include Detox green tea, designed to help cleanse the major organs. Figuro, made with a blend of cassia tora and hawthorn believed to eliminate stagnant qi (natural body energy). Osmanthus and Pu-erh for weight loss and Slim Art, which claims to be the most beneficial tea on the market, a blend of Pu-erh tea, rosehip and water lily.

Overall tea, whether it be green or black, is a naturally refreshing drink, and taken on it’s own has no calories. It is a drink that is enjoyed all over the world. Black tea is more popular, but green tea more recently seems to be creeping up behind. Both come from the same plant but under go a different process to make the final tea different.

The health benefits gained from drinking green and black tea is comparable in that both help to promote health and well-being. It is the way in which the teas are processed which determines the different health giving effect. So for weight loss or not, who’d have thought anything that was this popular could be so good for you!!

Alternative Health Careers – Five Occupational Options

As the field of natural healing therapies continues to grow, so does the demand for alternative health careers. Some of the diverse healthcare occupations that alternative and complementary medicine offer prospective students include healing arts disciplines in massage therapy, homeopathy, herbal medicine, natural health, and acupuncture, among many others.

Today’s alternative health careers like massage therapy require specific training and education; including an expanding minimum standard of 500 instructional hours comprised of basic sciences (anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and pathology), Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, and sports massage. Other related studies like CPR and first aid, as well as business management and client communications are commonly integrated into this program of study.

Homeopathy is also a unique option to those seeking alternative health careers. Similar to most medical programs, homeopathic courses require rigorous educational studies like anatomy, biochemistry, homeopathic philosophy, physiology, materia medica, and other comprehensive coursework. To successfully acquire alternative health careers in homeopathy, individuals should review educational prerequisites as most homeopathic colleges and schools typically require some formal training and education prior to enrollment.

If you’re drawn to alternative health careers that involve herbal medicine, a number of holistic education programs including Chinese medicine, naturopathy, homeopathy and natural health commonly offer herbology and aromatherapy as part of their curricula. Choose from beginner classes to more advanced training options like earning your degree in herbal sciences.

Natural health professions are also part of the vast array of alternative health careers. Earn your diploma or certificate as a natural health practitioner after you’ve completed an in-depth course in natural healing therapies like massage, aromatherapy, herbal medicine, Reiki, and reflexology. Healing arts schools vary in subject matter, so check with prospective schools prior to applying.

Of these alternative health careers, acupuncture and Oriental medicine practitioners probably have one of the most unique educational foundations. In addition to learning both Eastern and Western medicine philosophies, acupuncture education offers a rare look into Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles and theories; including needling techniques, Tai Chi, moxibustion, Chinese herbal medicine, Tuina, Qi gong, and even Chinese medical language, among others. Prospective students should be aware, however, that alternative health careers in acupuncture do require several years of dedication.

If you (or someone you know) are interested in learning more about these and other alternative health career options, let professional training within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Important Reasons for Hiring a Personal Injury Lawyer

When a person suffers injury due to someone else’s action, it is natural for him to ask for compensation for that injury. Unfortunately, in most of the cases, the injured person is denied the compensation he is entitled for and the insurance companies never always underpay for their own stakes. Insurance companies do this deliberately as they are aware of the fact that a common person does not know the legalities because of which he will never be able to protest them. This is when there comes a need of personal injury lawyer. A qualified lawyer will assure that the injured gets his due justice.

For any victim, the period after a motor accident can be tough and whirlwind. In addition to taking the pain of his injuries, he may need to make several decisions regarding how to follow up the case. One of the most important decisions he need to make is, whether or not he will take the services of a personal injury lawyer. If the person is having valid medical insurance, he is eligible for reimbursement of all medical costs incurred by him for his rehabilitation. If the insurance company refuses to abide to pay, the total amount the victim is eligible for, services of a good lawyer like the one must be taken.

Insurance companies often mislead the victims to underpay them. The main ways they misguide are

They try to be too nice to the victims and try to socialize with those who do not have any attorneys with them. They try to make an out-of-court settlement with much smaller amounts of compensation than the actual eligibility of victim.

They try to gather all unnecessary information to settle any claim. To keep the victims deprived of their compensation insurance companies demand for unnecessary documents, just to declare the file as incomplete, which is then shown as a reason for non-payment or underpayment of the amount of compensation.

They try to frustrate the victims by delaying the proceedings deliberately.

Many insurance companies do not tell about the riders opted by the victims.

They try to invade the privacy of the victim by uncovering his medical history.

All of the above problems can be solved by hiring an eligible attorney like who has all the knowledge about the legalities involved. Being a trained professional, personal injury lawyer will make sure that the victim gets the entitled amount of compensation. Another benefit of hiring a law professional is to keep the insurance companies at bay. They will never dare to make any false claim or advancement, as they will be well aware of the consequences.

It is a duty of the injured to help personal injury lawyer whom he has hired for his defence. He can help the lawyer by telling him the truth, not giving any written or verbal statement to the police in his absence, taking medical help and keeping all the relevant records intact, taking the photographs on site if possible etc. These things will not only help the personal injury lawyer but also will help the victim to get his due.

Omega-3 Supplement Alleviates Dry Eye Symptoms

Maintain your tear quality by making lifestyle and nutritional adjustments, such as avoiding excessive exposure to cigarette smoke and consuming large quantities of caffeine or alcohol. Avoiding triggers will ease your Dry Eye discomfort while improving your productivity.

According to Robert Latkany, M.D., “There is a direct link between increased Omega-3 Fatty Acid consumption and a lower incidence of Dry Eye-the latest research is hard to ignore.”

Omega-3s are essential Fatty Acids. “Essential” means that, because the body cannot produce them, their inclusion in the diet is vital for good health. The two best sources of Omega-3 Fatty Acids are dark, oily, cold-water fish, and Flaxseed. They deliver a multitude of health benefits, yet, as a population, Americans are Omega-3 deficient. An estimated 83% of Americans do not receive enough Omega-3s in their diet. North Americans have among the lowest dietary intake of Omega-3s in the world.

Benefits of Omega-3 Fatty Acids include management of the following Diseases:

  • Dry Eye
  • Allergies and Asthma
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Cancer (Breast Cancer, Colon Cancer and Prostate Cancer)
  • Tumor Growth Inhibition
  • Crohn’s and Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • Diet, Weight Control, and Obesity
  • Adult and Child Attention Deficit Disorder
  • Cholesterol Reduction
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Arteriosclerotic Diseases

Dry-Vites contain Salmon Oil and Flaxseed Oil; these oils decrease inflammation, stimulate tear production and provide a higher quality tear film by improving the oil layer of the tear film. Dry-Vites provide the Dry Eye Relief you have been searching for. After taking Dry-Vites for 4 – 8 weeks, you will notice less morning eye discomfort and relief that lasts all day long.

A study by the Women’s Health Study at Harvard, which included over 30,000 women showed a high intake of Omega-3 Fatty Acids, decreased their risk of developing Dry Eye.

Barriers to Health Care For Teen Pregnancy

Although teen pregnancy rates have been declining in the past, it is still a trend that is disturbing. With some having sex as early as 11-12 years of age, the chances of a teen pregnancy are increased. With teen pregnancy comes the need for health care. Unfortunately, there are many barriers to health care for a teen pregnancy.

Education is a must

One of these barriers to health care for the pregnant teen is education. Schools do not educate students about their bodies and the way they work. Parents tend to be uncomfortable about discussing sex education matters with their teens, so any information the teen may get usually comes from their peers. This is not usually an effective means of gathering correct information.

Financial Barriers

Another barrier to health care for teen pregnancy is income, or the lack of it. Health care is prohibitively expensive for many adults, and even a teen with working parents may not have access to health insurance. When a parent has to decide between rent and food or health insurance, the medical needs are often overlooked. With access to education about pregnancy, and clinics available for teens with no health insurance, there might be a rise in teens seeking out medical care for themselves and their unborn child.

Along with inadequate health insurance and low income parents, teens may face lack of transportation to a health care facility. Many 2 income families have one car, and no support system to turn to in times of need. Often health care is not available within a reasonable distance, or there may be no gas for the second car. Even if there is transportation available, a parent may not be able to get time off from work to take the pregnant teen to the doctor, providing the parent is aware of the pregnancy in the first place.

Shame and Fear

This brings us to another barrier to health care for teen pregnancy. Shame and fear in a teenager can be a powerful motivator for many actions they take. Shame for being pregnant, and fearful of the consequences they may face from a parent can influence a teenager in many ways. One coping skill that stems from these feelings is not admitting to the pregnancy, even to themselves. This, of course, can lead to the teen not receiving any health care until she has progressed far into her pregnancy. This only sets the teen up for possible complications down the road for her and her baby.

With education of parents and teens together, perhaps we can overcome these barriers to health care for our pregnant teens. Communication for all can be a good first step in providing access to health care for both the mother and her unborn child.

Urticaria Treatment – Stop Urticaria In Hours, Complete Method Revealed Here

Finding an urticaria treatment is by no means easy…. If you have suffered with urticaria for any length of time you will undoubtedly know what I mean. Of course if you only suffer with the occasional bout of acute urticaria as the result of coming into contact with a specific allergen, then antihistamine may do the trick. The truth is that medications designed to block or reduce the production of histamine in the body are really just a way of masking the symptoms of urticaria and not really an urticaria treatment or cure.

This is new & complete-relief tips for urticaria sufferers: I wanted to write this article as I have a couple of great tips to share with urticaria sufferers. Many articles skirt around the same old urticaria treatment methods, and I’m sure many are written by people who really have no experience and perhaps very little knowledge of urticaria as a chronic condition.

The following details are based on my own experience with chronic urticaria, I personally suffered with the condition for some years on and off, more on than off as I got older, but that’s a different story. So let me tell you about an urticaria treatment method that I discovered while hunting for a way to stop my urticaria. What I’m about to describe is what I like to call a quick fix, it’s not what you would call an urticaria cure, it’s not even a long term urticaria treatment, but I had some great results using the following method.

Note: this quick urticaria treatment may help those suffering with hives (urticaria), urticarial wheals and whelts and deeper swelling such as mild angioedema, for serious cases of angioedema this method probably won’t help much. I say this method may help as I don’t have any medical training and the method I’ll tell you about is something I used as a quick urticaria treatment, basically it may or may not have the same effect on you as it did on me. If in doubt please consult a professional.

My Quick Urticaria Treatment:

Before I explain what my solution is let me first explain my urticaria symptoms, how this urticaria treatment helps and what results you can expect, oh, and how long it takes for this urticaria treatment method to work.

My Urticaria Symptoms:

I’ll keep this short, just thought it might be helpful, especially if you suffer with the same kind of urticaria symptoms as me. OK, for the last 2 years of my chronic urticaria I had urticaria on my face and neck for an average of around 3-4 days out of every seven.

My urticaria symptoms are as follows:

Urticarial wheals (rings) under my hair, on my neck & forehead. Mild angioedema (swelling), sometimes with (under) the urticarial wheals other times on their own. The swelling was almost a daily occurrence the same as the urticaria, plus it was usually under my hair and around my eyes (especially the top of my nose).

I know that my condition is linked to my immune system, I found that out some time ago, but taking drugs as a way of treating my urticaria just seemed ridiculous, especially as they are often the catalyst for the condition in the first place.

What you can expect if you try this urticaria treatment:

I’m not talking miracle cures here, I probably shouldn’t even refer to it as an urticaria treatment, but it helped me for some time. This method should help if you suffer with chronic urticaria on a very regular basis, you should see your urticarial rash start to dissipate within hours.

Here’s my urticaria treatment:

The following method should be used preferably after eating although this is not mandatory.

  1. Take one simple over the counter antihistamine
  2. Wait 20 mins
  3. Then take 1 Niacin vitamin B-3 tablet (100mg)

You can get Niacin supplements from most supplement suppliers & they are cheap.

Why use 100mg Niacin?. Once you take your first tablet you will know, within 10-20 mins your body will start to flush and itch like you have prickly heat all over, but don’t worry this will only last around 20 mins. Although this is not a long term urticaria treatment it does help. I cant tell you exactly how it works as I have read conflicting accounts, but this seems to be what happens to me. As a chronic urticaria sufferer my body seems to produce an excess of histamine, using the Niacin appears to burn away all the excess histamine & therefore clearing up my urticaria symptoms in hours rather than days.

Perhaps many medical professionals will disagree with my interpretation of how it works?, all I can tell you is, this is what happens to me. By the way I laid this urticaria treatment out as 3 steps, you can take the Niacin straight away if you prefer, however I added the antihistamine as it stops much of the flushing.

How to Fix a Corrupt SQL Database (Multiple IAM Pages Error 8947)

Global Allocation Page (GAM) of SQL Server File: An MS SQL Server file consists of various pages, which store its allocation structures. One such page is the Global Allocation Page (GAM). It contains the information that is related to the allocated extents in that SQL Server file.

Index Allocation Map (IAM) Pages: Index Allocation Map (IAM) pages are the allocation pages that contain information of the extents that an index/table uses.

SQL Table Corruption Due to Multiple IAM Pages Error: Sometimes, you many encounter errors due to multiple IAM pages for a single object. Such types of errors indicate table corruption. The error you might encounter after such corruption in your SQL Server database table states:

Server: Msg 8947, Level 16, State 1

Table error: Multiple IAM pages for object ID O_ID, index ID I_ID contain allocations for the same interval. IAM pages P_ID1 and P_ID2.

Why Such Error Might Occur? If you are encountering the aforementioned error, then it implies that the IAM chain for the specified index has at least 2 IAM pages (P_ID1 & P_ID) covering the same GAM interval (interval is the file space used by the GAM page to map. It is approximately 4 GB). Every index, which is allocated from a GAM interval that has more than one extent, requires an IAM page for that specific GAM interval. For all GAM interval extents, an IAM page contains one bit for each extent. A set bit shows that the particular index is given to that index. A common reason for such multiple IAM pages error that you might be encountering can be hardware failure. SQL database recovery becomes necessary for you in this case.

How to Fix Damaged MDF File? You can perform the following methods for SQL database recovery:

• Replace Damaged Hardware: First of all, you must check if there is any issue related to hardware failure. For this, you can run hardware diagnostics and check your application, Windows & SQL Server error log. If such issue exists, replace the damaged hardware (if required).

• SQL Database Recovery from Backup: If you have a clean backup for your SQL database, then you can easily restore from it. But, if no such valid backup is there, then you can use a third-party tool.

SQL Database Recovery using Third-party Tool: You can invest in an SQL MDF repair tool, which is an easy, efficient, safe and time-saving way to deal with the problem. One such powerful SQL database recovery tool is SysTools SQL Recovery software. It is a superior tool with a user-friendly interface and it employs advanced technology for efficient recovery and fast algorithms for quick MDF repair.

Relieve Gout Pain Now Without Taking Toxic Prescription Drugs

The description of a person who suffers from gout is a male over the

age of forty years of age. In ancient times, the gout sufferer would have

been royalty. Gout has been called the “king’s disease” because only

royalty could indulge in fatty food and alcohol to excess.

Gout is caused by a build up or uric acid crystals in the joint fluid.

The immune system reacts to these crystals as if to a foreign invader.

The joint, as a result, becomes inflamed and painful.

The symptoms are the sudden onset of burning pain and stiffness.

The joints swell. The common areas affected by a gout attack are

the big toes, ankle, knee, wrist and elbow.

Your medical doctor can diagnose whether you have gout through a blood test.

Traditional treatment to help gout pain is NSAIDS to kill the pain. Allopurinol,

is an anti-inflammatory drug that inhibits the formation of uric acid. Allopurinol

has serious side effects that include:

*Skin eruptions

*Liver toxicity,

*Inflammation of the blood vessels, and

*Possible weakening of kidney function

To help gout pain without taking toxic prescription drugs, follow these medical

Recent medical advice supports the theory of regular exercise as a pain reliever

for gout. The theory is that exercise nourishes the joint cartilage

and removes waste products. Exercise also strengthens the muscles around the joint.

Stronger muscles will support the joint. Stretching exercises maintains your range of motion.

2) Apply cold packs to inflamed swollen joint for 10-15 minutes,.

3) Put your joints gently through its full range of motion one to two times per day.

4) Drink 8-10 glasses of water per day.

Drinking sufficient amounts of water, fresh juices or herbal tea daily will relieve

gout symptoms. The fluids keep the urine diluted to help the body excrete uric acid.

Add fresh squeezed lemon juice to your water daily. Lemon juice stimulates the

formation of calcium carbonate in the body. Calcium carbonate neutralizes uric acid.

Diet Recommendations:

Eliminate these foods to help gout pain

People who have gout are unable to break down and excrete uric acid, a byproduct of

digesting certain foods. Reducing the consumption of these foods is very often successful

in reducing or eliminating gout. It is recommended that individuals who suffer from gout

eliminate these foods from the diet.

*Meat organs

*Red meat

Do not take aspirin for pain relief. Aspirin can raise uric acid levels

Only use ibuprofen.

It is recommended that people who suffer from gout add these foods to their diet to

help with gout pain. Baking Soda with meals will prevent gout attacks. Baking soda will

help alkalize the body.

Take 2 grams of fish oil capsules 2x a day to reduce the chances of gout inflammation.

Eating 6-8 cherries daily will relieve the symptoms of gout.. Cherries are rich in compounds

that prevent the destruction of collagen.

Mince garlic and add it to black cherry juice for a potent remedy to relieve gout pain.

Three to six shark cartilage tablets taken used on a daily basis can make the pain go away.

Take 1000 mg of vitamin C 1,000 mg per hour at the very outset of a gout attack, then reduce to

500-3,000 mg daily for maintenance.

Vitamin C helps lower serum uric acid levels.

Get some natural, concentrated black cherry juice and drink several tablespoons daily.

You should expect relief in 48 hours.

Blueberries are high in anti-inflammatory compounds called anthocyanins, which help ease

the pain of gout.

Boil one tablespoon of Cayenne pepper in 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of water and dab onto

the painful joint.

Grapes are high in alkalines which lessen the acidity of uric acid and aid in its elimination

from the body.

Eating a cup of strawberries with each meal should bring quick relief. Strawberries

neutralize uric acid.

Finding alternative treatment for gout pain is important. Gout sufferers are usually prescribed

one of three types of drugs that have negative side affects. Finding a combination of natural

ways to help gout pain will be beneficial for your long term health.

Using a Health Savings Account to Pay for Alternative Medicine

Health Savings Accounts allow you to set up a tax-deductible account to pay for medical expenses that are not covered by your health insurance. These include expenses to cover your deductible, and other medical expenses like dental and eyeglasses. But many don’t realize that HSA funds can be used to pay for virtually any type of medical service, as long as it pertains to the treatment or prevention of a specific health condition.

Because money withdrawn from a health savings account to pay medical expenses is tax-free, anyone who has an HSA can funnel all alternative medical expenses through their HSA and get a tax write-off. This could include biofeedback, naturopathy, Ayurvedic medicine, aromatherapy, magnetic healing, reflexology, and the list goes on.

People who use complementary therapies are often very health conscious, and go to traditional physicians less often. So it does not make sense for them to be paying a high premium for a traditional health insurance plan with a co-pay, particularly when their medical treatments are not covered anyway. Instead, many are choosing a low cost high-deductible HSA plan.

Alternative Therapies Becoming Mainstream

Many hospitals are now offering complementary treatments. The website for the Memorial Sloan-Keating Cancer Center states that complementary therapies are used to “help alleviate stress, reduce pain and anxiety, manage symptoms, and promote a feeling of well-being.”

Some group health insurance plans are beginning to cover more complementary expenses, but there is still very little coverage for these expenses in individual or family plans. Those that cover chiropractic limit coverage to 12 – 20 visits per year, and a few will cover a limited amount of acupuncture. But very few if any cover hypnotherapy, Reiki, iridology, or faith healers.

Why Complementary Medicine

The conventional medicine practiced by most MDs is called allopathic medicine. The philosophy of this system is to treat disease and injury using counteractive methods. For instance, if you have a fever you may take aspirin to make it go down, if your cholesterol is elevated you may take a statin to reduce it, if you have heartburn you may take an antacid. The thinking is mostly focused on removing the symptoms of disease, and the primary treatment modalities are surgery and prescription drugs.

But there are other ways to look at things. Naturopathic medicine is based on the belief in the body’s own healing powers, which can be strengthened through the use of certain foods, vitamins, herbs, or other “natural” treatments. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is based on ancient Chinese theories about the balance of yin and yang. Ayurvedic medicine is based on principles of movement, metabolism, and structure.

Part of the growing use of complementary therapies is a reaction to the costs, side effects, and philosophy of conventional allopathic medicine. Physicians get much of their continuing education from the pharmaceutical industry, and they work in an environment where the insurers and the patients are both looking for a quick fix. The result is that the average 60 year old is now taking 5 regular medications, yet there is little expectation that those drugs will ever cure the health problems for which they’re being used. Many consumers see this, and instead are using other methods to try to get to the root of their illness.

What is Considered an “HSA Qualified Expenses”

Qualified medical expenses have been partially defined in IRS Publication 502, and through various federal court rulings. There is no definitive list, but there are really very few restrictions as long as the procedure is for the treatment or prevention of a specific health condition. For instance, you could not use your HSA funds to pay for a relaxing massage for your own personal pleasure. But if your doctor recommends you get a massage for specific medical reasons, this is considered a qualified expense. Yoga would not normally be considered a qualified medical expense, but it would be if it was recommended as a physical therapy following some sort of accident.

Some may question why the government would give a tax deduction for someone to use some crazy energy vibration machine to cure their cancer. But this is as it should be. No one but you should be able to decide what type of treatment you will use for your own illnesses. By empowering individuals to manage their health as they see fit, Health Savings Accounts encourage personal responsibility and help loosen the monopoly on healthcare that conventional medicine has had for the past few decades.
