How to Lose Weight Fast

Have You Ever Wondered How To Lose Weight Fast?

Do you want to lose weight fast, most people do?  We live in an era of speed an age when everyone wants quick results.  Regardless of the fact that the excess weight a person carries took time to accumulate they often want to be rid of it in a short space of time.  That’s why everyone is looking for the quick fix and explains the lure of the latest pill, potion or exotic tea.

Everyone want to know how to lose weight fast and it’s possible to lose it quickly using pills but these have bad side effects.  It’s also possible to starve oneself by going on one of the diets that cuts out food all together and to lose weight quickly.  You may have noticed that the majority of those who do lose weight this way put it all back on again.

The best way to lose weight is to lose it steadily in the same way it was gained which gives the body a chance to adjust and the skin to return to it’s original size and shape.  However there are ways of addressing weight problems that can help to lose weight faster than others and there are some things to avoid too.

How to Lose Weight Fast

The things to avoid if you want to lose weight and to lose it fast are diets.  Diets focus on food and the focus while on a diet is generally on what you can’t have.  Cutting out foods, calorie counting, fat reduction, points and the like mean that all the focus is on food, food, food.

People on diets learn which foods are ‘bad’ and which foods are ‘good.’  They learn what to avoid and what they can have and again it’s all food, food, food.  Because of the way the mind works this focus on food will make you crave food and especially the foods you have been told not to have.

To lose weight fast is easier than you ever imagined.  First of all decide what you want, not what you don’t want but what you want.  Keep the focus off food for now and focus on size and shape and level of fitness then write it down.

Now ask yourself the following questions:

  • “What do I have to do to achieve that?”
  • “What sorts of food could I eat to help me to achieve it?”
  • “What portion sizes will be needed to achieve my goal?
  • “How can I enjoy foods and still reach my goal?”

You do know the answers to those questions and if you ask them repeatedly by beginning each day asking, “What could I eat today that will help me to be slim by… “ or “What size portion shall I eat this evening so I can reach my goal by… “ or “How can I stay on track today so I can achieve my goal of being… on… “

The way the human mind is set up, whenever you ask a question your mind has to give you an answer and you have all the knowledge you need within you.  Use the power of your subconscious mind to help you to know how to lose weight fast and to keep it off forever.

Pregnancy Ultrasound Picture

When you are pregnant, sometimes it can be hard to feel like there is really a person living and growing on the inside of you. Many times you are focused on how uncomfortable you are or how sick you feel instead of the beautiful life that is blossoming on the inside of you. If only you could catch a glimpse of what is taking place in your womb!

In the old days, mothers didn’t know the gender of their baby until the day it was born. Things have changed! Now you can get a pregnancy ultrasound picture that will show you what your baby looks like while it is still inside of you! Usually a doctor will order one at 6 weeks and at 5 months. At 5 months, the sex of your baby can usually be determined. A pregnancy ultrasound picture is a great thing to post on your refrigerator to get you through those last couple months of pregnancy.

There is nothing more exciting than catching a glimpse at your baby while it is still in the womb. Nothing is more special than the moment you and the father of your baby get to see your child for the first time. Many times, the person doing the sonogram will point out different things on the baby. Most places offer still images of your sonogram and some places even offer videos! Getting a video is a great idea because then all of your friends and family can see the baby in action too! Sometimes you will be able to see the baby flipping, sucking on its thumb, and doing all sorts of cute things.

You are only pregnant once and your baby is only that tiny once. Kids grow up so fast! You don’t want to forget what your baby looked like when it was that small. Your pregnancy ultrasound picture will be something that you will cherish for the rest of your life. If you are pregnant you should definitely get a sonogram that will capture your little one. I don’t think anyone will ever regret keeping a sonogram picture.

How To Get an STD Test

If you are at all worried about your sexual health it is imperative that you get yourself checked out as soon as possible. If you are experiencing symptoms that worry you or if you have put yourself into an "at risk" situation by having unprotected sex, then you need to take a deep breath and march yourself off to get the relevant STD tests.

The easiest way for most people to do this is by going to your local GP and getting a referral to the sexual health clinic at your local hospital. However, some people prefer the relative anonymity of attending a walk in clinic without first visiting your personal GP.

A walk in GUM clinic will have a standard set of tests that they recommend. These will generally include Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HIV and Syphilis. They will then recommend additional tests according to your needs and risks that you have exposed yourself to.

Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea and Syphilis are curable diseases treated by courses of specific antibiotics. They are also all best treated early before they can serious health problems. Even exposure to HIV can be treated by post exposure prophylaxis (PEP) which may prevent you becoming HIV positive if you begin treatment within 72 hours of a high risk exposure.

Treatment in the UK can be either on the NHS or at a private clinic. Some tests such as HIV can be undertaken by home screening. HIV home screening was introduced in the UK in 2006 – wheree you send a saliva sample off to a lab to be analyzed. Counseling is available if the initial result is not all clear.

Do not wait and cross your fingers. Decide which option suits you best, whether it be GP, walk in clinic or private clinic, and get yourself tested.

Gay Marriage: How to Judge If You and Your Partner Are All Set for the Next Step

No one can tell you if you and your partner are ready to get married. That is something only you can know. And although the people around you, as well as the larger world around you, all have opinions on gays getting married, you need to stay true to yourself. Marriage is intended to be a lifetime commitment, although you would not know it looking at the divorce rate of heterosexuals, the only people legally allowed to marry in the US Although we are not legally allowed to marry, this should never stop two adults in love from starting a lifetime of happiness and commitment together. And of course, every time a homosexual couple gets married and stays married, it only proves our case more! So if you're thinking of marrying you partner, make sure that it's the right decision beforehand. Here are some tips on how to tell if you're ready for that next step:

Live together first – Since many people consider, we're "living in sin" anyway, there's no reason not to move in with you partner first as a sort of "test run". Although you can get to know someone by dating them for several years, you never really know someone until you live with them and have to justly share your day-to-day life with someone. And once gay marriage is officially recognized, it will be much easier to move out than to get a divorce.

Write a list – Think about what spending the rest of your life with your partner would really be like. Take the time to write a list of all the good things as well as all the challenges that would come of it. Consider both the pros and cons to the marriage and most importantly if it's a good move for the both of you. When you are through, burn the list so that your partner will never find it and have their feelings hurt. Seriously, burn the list.

Think about it – Marriage is not a game and you should not make rash decisions. You have your whole life to get married, so make sure you've really thought about it. What are your reasons for getting married? Do you and your partner have problems that you're currently struggling with? Are you trying to use marriage as a mean to stop your on-going problems? Do you want to get married to prove a point either to your family or to society? Because if these are your reasons then you need to take a huge step back and look at the situation judgmentally.

Love is not enough – Sorry to say but true. One can love many people in a lifetime. And many of the people we love, are not really good matches for us. Examine your partner. Do you trust him or her? Is your partner the kind of character you can always depend on? Will your partner play a part equally to building a home and a life collectively? Many people feel that if they love someone marrying that person is the "next step." However, marriage should not be based just on the fact that you love your partner. You should want to spend the rest of your life with you partner and be ready to tell the world just that.

To conclude, one should by no means jump into a marriage on impulse. Take some time to analyze and examine what you expect out of the marriage before you commit. It should be a lifelong choice and commitment and should be taken seriously.

Symptoms Of Hemroids – Why You Must Not Ignore Them

Useful Statistics, Finally

13 million out of 298 million Americans in 2006 had hemroids, translating into a prevalence rate of 4.4%. Every year like clockwork, 1 million new cases crop up.

In spite of this, a great number of people overlook the symptoms of hemroids resulting in disproportionately few consulting a doctor for medical treatment, with guesstimates ranging from 500,000 to 3 million per year. Astonishingly, the symptoms are paid no attention to by 10 million people! Whilst it is true that the fatality incidence of hemroids is statistically small, at less than 20 per 100,000, but it is inconceivabe that anyone wants to be numbered in the ill-fated 20.

Firstly, the longer the procrastination in treatment, the more prolonged hemroids take to recover. Complete healing is another splendid reason for immediate action on hemroids. The most crucial reason for crossing out the entire category of more harmful illnesses is that some of them necessitate regular medical care whilst others may be life-threatening.

Life-endangering – True or False?

Symptoms of hemroids, particularly blood in stool or bowel movement bleeding, can be difficult to differentiate from a whole multitude of other medical conditions. It is no falsehood. Ominous developments can arise from some of these disorders.

Depending on the aggravated organ, these other maladies can be classified into 2 broad sorts. There are 7 other prevalent diseases in the colon, namely Crohn’s disease, colorectal cancer, colon polyp, diverticulosis, intestinal ischemia, peptic ulcer and ulcerative colitis. In the rectum, the other 4 main afflictions are proctitis, anorectal fistulae, anal fissures and rectal prolapse.

Complications from SOME of these other afflictions can threaten life. In this case, tagging along with the majority of 10 million people in taking no heed of the symptoms of hemroids can have grave consequences.

A very prudent rule is appropriate; see a medical specialist if bleeding drags on over a week. The symptoms described hereunder will appear if hemroids are confirmed.

Hemroids, Hemorrhoids, Haemorrhoids or Piles – One And The Same Symptoms

Hemroids (misspelling), hemorrhoids (US spelling) and haemorrhoids (UK spelling) are the same sickness, all being words derived from haimorrhoos which means flowing with blood in Greek. Piles (probably derived from pila or ball in Latin) is the common name for hemroids. “The common people call them piles, the aristocracy call them haemorrhoids, the French call them figs – what does it matter so long as you can cure them?” said Ardene, a 14th century English surgeon.

Before moving on to other symptoms of hemroids, we need to know the differing medical words that define a line demarcating the boundary of the rectum and the start of the anal canal. Known variously as the pectinate line or dentate line or anal verge or anorectal junction, this line separates internal (in the rectum) and external (on the anus) hemroids. The differentiation that is more important to the hemroid sufferer is that there are somewhat fewer pain nerve endings above the line, verge or junction and a great number outside the boundary. In comparison, therefore, external hemroids may result in excruciating pain whilst internal hemroids may be painless. This pain element affects the decision-making when selecting between mainstream or alternative treatment methods.

Symptoms Of Internal Hemroids

The most typical symptom of internal hemroids is rectal bleeding, also known as bowel movement bleeding or blood in stool. Toilet tissue may be stained red, stools be interspersed with blood droplets and the toilet bowl be coloured red.

Another distinct symptom is the bulging movement of the internal hemroid during bowel motion. Medical researchers classify bulging internal hemroids according to 4 stages of prolapse or protrusion:

– a first-degree hemroid bulges into the anal canal;
– a 2nd degree hemroid bulges from the anus, then retracts itself;
– a 3rd degree hemroid bulges from the anus and must be physically tucked back in;
– a fourth-degree internal hemroid bulges out from the anus permanently.

Internal hemroids are normally not painful as they occur above the pectinate line but large ones that prolapse into the anus may be squeezed by the anal sphincter muscles. In the extreme, they become strangulated hemroids (deprived of blood supply) that require urgent medical treatment as the adjoining tissues may be imperilled.

The agonizing urge to return to the toilet bowl right after stools have just been purged, anal lumps, rectal lumps and skin itches are other common symptoms of internal hemroids. The feeling of unfinished defecation is enhanced in cases where the hemroid is extremely large and in the proximity of the anal opening.

Symptoms Of Hemroids – External

One clear differentiation between external and internal hemroids is that anal pain is more acute in the former as they arise outside the dentate line on the anal region where pain nerve ends abound.

Blood clots or thrombuses tends to occur with external hemroids resulting in the body’s blood circulatory system being retarded. This thrombosed hemroid can cause detrimental inflammation in the whole anal and rectal regions.

Unlike internal hemroids which can often go undetected due to the lack of overt symptoms, external hemroids can create persistent irritation. Cleaning the anal region is understandable but doing this excessively only inflames the hemroid and sets up a vicious continual cycle.

A Member Of The 10 Million Ignoring The Symptoms Of Hemroids?

Are you in the 10 million majority?

Recognition of a problem is the first step to its solution. That is the case with hemroids too.

On occasion, it can be serious and requires medical attention. But frequently, the treatment is fairly straightforward. Mainstream treatment methods may be very painful depending on the nature of hemroids being treated but many testify to the effectiveness of alternative methods like H Miracle.

In Honor Of National Diabetes Month-2 Silver Bullets For Sugar Balance

Did you know that the average American consumes more than 120 pounds of sugar per year, which is approximately 45 teaspoons per day?

Did you know that recent statistics have shown that two-thirds of Americans are overweight or obese and that thirty percent of American children are obese?

According to the latest research out of the University of Missouri, one in four Americans are struggling with diabetes with the majority of them as type 2. In addition, millions of us are in a state of insulin resistance, or pre-diabetes, that could progress into diabetes.

Do you remember hearing that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? Now imagine how you feel when you skip breakfast. Your body begins to run low on energy, and your fuel supply, like the engine in your car, begins to slow down thereby causing you to run on fumes. So, by mid morning, you grab a high-calorie food item like a muffin or donut to relieve your hunger. What happens next? This high calorie, sugary snack causes insulin to be releasedout of the pancreas into the bloodstream, while the body is trying to adapt to the surge in blood glucose from the snack just eaten.

When this pattern is repeated throughout the day, blood sugar levels show sharp spikes-both highs and lows. Over time, the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas wear outleading to high levels of blood glucose which is called diabetes.Normal fasting blood sugar should be less than 100mg/dl.

Diabetes can cause many serious health issues and is associated with obesity, heart disease, and increased mortality. It is the fifth deadliest disease in the United States.A preventative approach would be to make sure that blood glucose levels are stable throughout the day. Our brain needs a continuous level of blood sugar to avoid anxiety caused by blood sugar fluctuations.

Are you at risk for diabetes?

·Do you have a family history of diabetes?

·Are you overweight?

·Do you have high blood pressure?

·Are your cholesterol levels abnormal?

·Are you over 45?

·Do you have a history of gestational diabetes?

A new meta-analysis of 13 randomized controlled trials involved more than 33,000 people showed that drug treatment of type 2 diabetes is not only ineffective, it’s dangerous as well. These medications poison the enzymes in our body and disrupt the normal biochemical pathways. In general, a drug therapy protocol should treat the underlying cause of the illness that the drug is being prescribed for. Treatment with glucose-lowering drugs actually showed the potential to increase your risk of death from heart-related and all other causes. These medications should be used as a last resort, after diet and lifestyle modifications have been explored.

Keep in mind that the medical community that runs the major research and treatment protocols for diabetes does not look favorably on chiropractic and nutritional supplementation. The American Diabetes Association does NOT recommend vitamin or mineral supplementation-in fact they recommend against it.However, it’s okay to have a daily alcoholic beverage. Therefore, be aware that you may need help to better discern the advice you are receiving from the many sources.

So, what are the keys in diabetes prevention?

There are real action steps every American can do to support their health and well-being focusing on lifestyle choices daily that include diet and exercise.

First line treatments in blood sugar balance include lifestyle modifications with weight loss as one of the primary goals.Dietary modifications are paramount, asit has been suggested that a person 30% or more overweight for over 30 years will develop diabetes.

Increasing fiber, (guar, pectin, oats, psyllium, bran, fruits, vegetables and beans) and watching the glycemic index of foods (foods which don’t create a quick glucose-insulin response) is essential in managing blood sugar levels.

A regimen high in whole grains, beans, legumes, vegetables and whole fruits (whole fruits are much lower on the glycemic index than juices) will keep the blood sugar even without fluctuation.

Avoid refined, processed foods, as they have “hidden” sources of fructose in them. Fructoseshould be eliminated from your diet with a total daily intake of below 25 grams.

Increase complex carbohydrates and fiber, and balance with enough high protein foods. Most refined foods contain high levels of high fructose corn syrup, which lack vital nutrients and cause wide blood sugar fluctuations.

Two servings of beans per day may help control blood sugar levels (soak beans in several drops of iodine) to alleviate gas-producing effects.

Moderate amounts of lean meat, fish and unsaturated fats are helpful.

Small, frequent meals eaten throughout the course of the day will alleviate adrenal and pancreas stress by maintaining blood glucose levels.

A vegetarian diet may be helpful. Onions and garlic have blood-sugar lowering effects.(Murray, M., N.D. Natural Alternatives to Over-the-Counter and Prescription Drugs, William Morrow and company, Inc NY, 1994, p.179).

Follow an elimination/rotationdiet to detect food allergies or sensitivities.

Diets eliminating an entire food category, like “Atkins”, will likely be ineffective in the long term.

Diets that severely restrict calories provide too little nutrition and are not metabolically healthy. (below 1200 calories)

Being around overweight people regularly makes it more difficult to lose weight. (ie. Similar to a smoker trying to quit smoking and being with smokers socially)

Supplementation may include:

+ Vitamin D

+ Cinnamon

+ Fish Oil

+ Co-Q-10

+ Chromium

+ Biotin

+ Magnesium Citrate (commonly deficient in diabetes)

+Iodine (commonly deficient in diabetes)

+ Alpha Lipoic Acid

+ Niacin

+ Vitamin E, C, B’s

+ Phosphatidylcholine

+ Bromelain

+ Zinc

+ Adrenal and pancreas support

+ HCL and pancreatic enzymes

+ Calcium and magnesium

+Folic Acid

+Cinnamon Bark

Herbal products may include:

+ Fenugreek

+ Guar gum

+ Milk Thistle

+ Gymnema

+ Bitter Melon

+ Apple pectin, Beet powder and Oat Fiber

Studies have shown that exercise (with a goal of at least 150 min/week) resulting in weight loss reduced the risk of type 2 diabetes. Moderate exercise is suggested to increase cell sensitivity to insulin. The same studies found lifestyle changesto be superior to Metformin.Regular exercise can result in a loss of fatfrom the abdominal section of your body and reduce the inflammatory cells that cause insulin resistance and diabetes.Be mindful of your exercise routine and don’t overdo it when you are a beginner. Some important keys to consider with exercise include:Frequency, Intensity and Length of time.A comprehensive workout plan should include cardio-vascular training, core exercises, strength training and flexibility/ stretching.

Stress and Hormones:

Decreasing stress, thereby lessening strain on the adrenal glands will result in better overall health and contribute to keeping the body’s insulin levels in check.DHEA is one of our adrenalhormones which help to regulate our blood sugar and an effective weight management tool. Type 2 Diabetes may also occur from a faulty leptin signaling and insulin resistance. Leptin is produced in your fat cells and is a hormone that regulates appetite and body weight. It signals our brain regarding when to start and stop eating and how much to eat. It’s greatly responsible for whether or not one becomes insulin resistant. Therefore, it is vital to have one’s hormones evaluated by an integrative medical professional.

Other lifestyle/diet changes to consider:

You can eat sweets occasionally, as a treat, without feeling guilty, however, moderation is the key. Consider swapping a high carbohydrate-containing food in your meal for something with fewer carbohydrates and eat the remaining carbohydrates as a sweet. For example, if you were going to include a potato, rice or pasta with your meal and a slice of bread, consider not eating that and instead enjoy a cupcake, or the like.

Artificial Sweeteners:

Be aware that many products made with artificial sweeteners, as baked goods and artificially sweetened puddings, etc still contain calories and carbohydrates that can affect your blood sugar level. Sugar alcohols still contain calories, so check product labels for words as: “isomalt,” “mannitol,” “sorbitol,” and “xylitol.” In general, eating foods that are chemically created may not be the best choice. Items containing saccharin, aspartame and sucralose (splenda) have been shown to cause various adverse reactions.

Two natural sweeteners, Stevia (Truvia, Pure Via) which is a plant found in South America and agave nectar (Wholesome Sweeteners, Madhava) offer other options for sweetening your food. However, you will need to experiment with the sugar-to-sweetener ratio, which is different for each product, until you like the taste. Since agave nectar isn’t calorie or carbohydrate-free, it shouldn’t be considered for weight management, however, it does have a lower glycemic index than does sugar, so it won’t affect your glucose level as much.

Eating healthfully and regular exercise are vital parts of the solution to control obesity, heart disease and diabetes. The results have a magical effect on resetting one’s metabolic clock thereby shifting the pattern of storing fat to a pattern of burning fat.

Stopping smoking, moderating alcohol intake and proper sleeping habits will help to alleviate blood chemistry surges, which in turn will promote a thriving, well-balanced body.

Therefore, by correcting the underlying causes of poor lifestyle choices which include a diet of whole, living foods, supplementation, exercise, and hormonal balance, one can effectively manage their blood sugar.

Diatoms: Interesting Facts

Diatoms are tiny single-celled organisms that make up diatomaceous earth. They were first discovered in 1702 by Anton van Leeuwenhoek and for hundreds of years these microscopic creatures have been studied and analyzed. Richard B. Hoover contributed to this research by travelling the world, studying diatoms and collecting new species. In a June 1979 Edition of National Geographic, he published his exciting findings on these extraordinary organisms.

Below are some of the most exciting and intriguing findings regarding diatoms:

  • While studying a diatom collection in Belgium, that had been dried on paper in 1834, Richard B. Hoover was shocked to find that after adding water to a slide, the diatoms were revived and began to swim around… after nearly 150 years!
  • More than twenty-five thousand species of diatoms have been discovered, none of which have the same shell.
  • Diatoms exist in large numbers in most bodies of water throughout the world. In fact, just one liter of seawater can contain as many as ten million diatoms!
  • The greatest numbers of diatoms exist in cold oceans.
  • Diatoms can thrive wherever there is light, water, carbon dioxide, and nutrients. In some cases diatoms can even live out of the water – in moist conditions, they are able to live in topsoil, or attached to moss, tree trunks and even brick walls.
  • Diatoms are very resilient and can endure lengthy droughts.
  • Diatoms vary greatly in size, with the largest measuring only one millimeter across.
  • A species of diatom found on Cape Cod, known as Hantzschia virgata, bury themselves in the sand when the tide is in. Just after the tide goes out, the diatoms glide to the surface in order to sunbathe. Their timing is impeccable, as they know precisely when to bury themselves back in to the sand, retreating just moments before the tide returns. In fact, it was discovered that even after keeping these diatoms for weeks in a laboratory their timing remained constant. They continued to dig in and out of the sand with such amazing accuracy that their actions could be used to predict the tide!
  • Diatoms are impressive shell builders. They transform dissolved silicon into a silica almost identical to the gemstone opal.
  • Diatoms contribute enormous amounts of oxygen to our atmosphere.
  • Huge numbers of diatoms die and sink to the bottom of river, lake and ocean beds. In some areas, sea floors can be covered in a layer as deep as 984 feet (300 meters)! Over many years these layers of dead diatoms fossilize and become rich deposits of diatomaceous earth, or diatomite.

Australian Outback – The Ultimate Journey

It begins with an imperceptible quickening of the pulse upon seeing birds in flight, the muted
flap of wings silhouetted serenely against the crimson backdrop of sunset. Or listening to the ephemeral careless of the wind rustling tranquilly through the trees, you perceive an ancient whisper suspended in time, gently urging you onward to a place where magic can still be found …

For those who long to "get away from it all", if even for a long deserved vacation, an area still remains where one can follow that inner voice which promises to free the spirit, and rejuvenate the senses.

The Australian Outback. Mysterious, vast and uncompromising, its awe-inspiring vistas and sun-drenched deserts await the intrepid traveler who believes the journey, is as important as the destination.

Although the word "outback" describes the arid interior of Australia, the term more precisely denotes a feeling rather than a set of parameters. The ethereal persistence and expansive quality of the land evokes a state of cerebral emptiness, a meditative panorama of subtropical wetlands, stunning sanguine deserts, breathtaking waterfalls, red rock formations, rain forest and savanna, all teeming with diverse, exotic wildlife.

The history of the outback derives from it's first inmates, the Aboriginal Anagu people, who have lived within the majestic solitude of Australia's sacred inner regions for more than 40,000 years.

Their deep respect for the land was forged from the belief that every significant event or activity occurs at a particular location leaves behind a vibrational imprint, which can be accessed by what they refer to as "Dreamtime".

Through "Dreaming", the hidden power of mountains, riverbeds, waterholes and rocks is revealed, reconfirming the inherent connection between man and nature, which, with the passage of time, has been historically forgotten.

What better place to reestablish that bond than the legendary area known as Ayers Rock. Located in the heart of the continent, this formidable outcropping of sandstone looming above the desert plain symbolizes the essence of the Australian outback.

Also known as "Uluru" by the Aborigines, they believe that dwelling within the spectular formation is a source of energy called "Tjukurpa '", and that light can often be seen emanating from it's timeless walls.

The surface of Uluru is also notable for changing color throughout the day, often appearing to glow inexplicably with various hues of red, blue, and violet … a dancing, sporadic play of lustrous iridescence that gradually gives way to twilight, the sun setting in regal splendor below the seemingly infinite horizon.

Uluru has been an important focus of the spiritual life of the Aborigines for time immemorial. Hundreds of paintings which depict Aboriginal life cover the walls of caves that are interspersed through the revered monolith, a pictorial testimony to the traditions and beliefs of a people who have lived in harmony with the natural flow of the earth, and in doing so, receive emotional and spiritual sustenance from the source of all that was, all that is, and all that will be ……

Tennis: How to Improve Your Tennis Game in 30 Minutes

ONE of the most important things in tennis is to keep the eye on the ball. Nine players out of ten lose sight of a ball shortly after it crosses the net. It is essential to watch it until it comes in contact with the racquet. Most players, when they should be watching the ball, are either looking at their opponent or at the spot on their opponent’s court where they wish to place the ball. The player who takes his eye off the ball, if only for the fraction of a second, may in that short time miss the opportunity for hitting it clean, i. e., in the center of the racquet. This applies to every shot in tennis.

It is an excellent thing while playing to repeat to one’s self over and over again:” Eye on the ball,” “Eye on the ball.”

Many a volley and smash go out of court because the racquet has turned in the hand. This happens because the ball has not met the center of the racquet. Even a tighter grip will not prevent this. This difficulty is obviated by keeping the eye on the ball. Watch your ball and you are bound to judge it right. By hurrying and losing sight of it you are bound to misjudge it. Keeping the eye on the ball does not mean merely to watch it casually, but to reckon its flight, also to judge the speed and depth of the stroke. By doing this the player can tell beforehand where the ball is going to drop in court.

Another thing of first importance in tennis is to put the ball over the net. A player feels disappointed and angry at a ball that goes out of court. He feels the same way when he puts it into the net, for this has sacrificed all the chance he might have had of winning the point.

Again you see many players take balls which if let alone would go out of court. In doubles suppose you call “out,” but still your partner takes it. If he returns the ball he at least has his opponent guessing and trying for a return. Many times he will be in doubt if he should take it, not knowing if the ball is going to be good. All this is that much more strain on his nerves.

Notice a first class player while in a game. He is always putting the ball over the net and at least two feet above it. The fault of the average player Is, that he plays his ball too fine, putting too many into the net in consequence.

In singles, because the opponent is more often playing deep, you should play higher above the net than in doubles, where one or both opponents are likely to be near the net. In general never play a return very low, that is, near the net on its way over, except when the opponent is close up. Playing a return deep and well above the net keeps the opponent from coming to the net.

After making a bad return try not to get angry over your shot. Rather try to perceive at once what your error was and to correct the fault. It may have been your position instead of your stroke. Many a player blames a bad return on the stroke when really it was the fault of his position. For instance some players keep putting the ball in the net. If they studied their shots they would see that the thing to do was to get more height on the ball.

There are many little faults a player could correct by himself if only thought of at the moment he makes them. Here are a few to remember and correct:

First — Don’t hurry; you have more time than you think if your position is the center of the court.

Second — Don’t take your stroke so close to your body that you cannot make a clean swing.

Third — Don’t try to kill a ball when an easy one would do.

Fourth — Don’t let your opponent find you out of position as a result of watching your own return.

Fifth — Don’t take your eye off the ball, as it prevents you from making a clean stroke.

Sixth — Don’t fail to “finish out ” on your stroke in order that you may get a ” drop ” on the ball as it passes over the net.

All these little faults and many more which players have could be prevented if discovered and corrected at the time they are committed. Many players complain that they have not the time while playing to correct faults. One has more time in tennis then he is apt to realize, and this excuse is not a sound one.

Sinusitis – Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment

Sinusitis is an infection of the mucous membranes lining the sinuses, which are present in and around the face. Sinusitis may be acute or chronic. Acute sinusitis may improve on its own, but chronic sinusitis usually requires treatment.

Sinusitis is termed as “Dushta Pratishyaya” or “Peenas” in Ayurveda. Ayurvedic treatment is effective in both the acute and chronic types of sinusitis.

Oral medication is advised of ghee treated with Haridra (turmeric), Musta (Cyperus rotundus), Vishwa (Zinziber officinale), Karanj (Pongamia pinnata), Renukabeej (Vitex negundo), and Yava-Kshar. Medicated ghee containing Hinga (Ferula narthex), Yava-Kshar, Deodar (Cedrus deodara) is also recommended.

Medicated ghee containing Chafa (Michelia champaka), Dadim (Pomegranate) flowers, Sabja (Canna edulus) leaves, Kanher (Nerium indicum) leaves, Durva (Cynodon dactylon), Haridra (turmeric) and Keshar (Crocus sativus) is used as nasal drop for obtaining immediate relief from symptoms.

A procedure called “Shodhan Nasya” is used, in which medicated oil (Vacha oil, containing Acorus calamus) or Shigru (Moringa oleifera) seed powder or Madanphal (Randia spinosa) powder is put into the nostrils, after giving fomentation to the area surrounding the nose. This helps in draining the sinuses, and contributes to early recovery. For further reduction in sinus inflammation, mild medicated drops are used, such as Anu oil or Panchendriya vardhan oil.

Several Ayurvedic formulations are used for the treatment of sinusitis. Tribhuvankirti, Sitopaladi, Godanti Bhasma, Yashtimadhuk (Glycerrhiza glabra), Bhallatak Parpati, Shrung Bhasma and Sanjeevani vati are some of the well known compounds. Sookshma Triphala, Chaturbhuj Ras, and Gandhak Rasayan are used for symptoms like fever and inflammation. Most patients get significant relief in a period of two to six weeks.

For recurrent sinusitis, Ayurvedic compounds like Laghu Malini Vasant, Madhu Malini Vasant and Suvarna Malini Vasant are used along with Pippali (Piper longum). A special preparation called Chausashtha Pippali is used in a gradually increasing dose, followed by a gradually decreasing dose. Sometimes, several courses of these medicines are required.

A daily process of applying medicated nasal drops such as Anu oil or Panchendriya vardhan oil (known as “Pratimarsha Nasya”) is believed to prevent frequent occurrence of sinusitis. In addition, breathing exercises like Yogic Pranayam, and special procedures like the Yogic Neti, are also very useful. It is advisable to avoid known aggravating factors.

11 Things That The "Mentally Invincible" Do Everyday

The word “invincible” is an adjective that means “too powerful to be defeated or overcome”. People who are mentally invincible are those rare birds who just never fail to get it done regardless of the odds or obstacles put before them.

You might know a few people who have this unique power. They are business executives, entrepreneurs, and parents. Wherever they go, people gravitate towards them and want to be like them. They make it look easy. But in reality, the only thing they have done is master a few simple concepts, and follow through on them every day.

I have the pleasure of working with and sharing friendships with several people who fit the description of being mentally invincible. When they put their mind to accomplishing something big or small, that’s when the magic happens. It is truly an amazing power, and something that I think many of us would love to master. Including me.

So, I sat down and made a list of the things that these people do everyday that makes them so extraordinary and special. Here are the 11 things I came up with that the mentally invincible people do everyday:

1. They always have a plan:

Whether it is written down on paper, on the computer, or in their heads, these folks know exactly what they will be doing every minute of the day. They recognize and appreciate the gift of time, and chose to use every available second to their advantage.

2. They get the job done:

Regardless of the task, they will see it through to completion. Nothing is ever left undone or incomplete. They simply are not able to live with themselves until the task is completed.

3. They don’t make excuses:

Excuses simply do not exist for these folks. They take responsibility for everything that happens in their life. If something does not turn out as planned, they focus on what they could have done differently to affect a positive outcome rather than playing the blame game.

4. They don’t give up:

This is perhaps the most prolific quality within this group – The ability to persist regardless of the obstacles no matter how long it takes.

5. They schedule time for themselves:

The busier these people are, the more persistent they are about scheduling time for themselves. They recognize the importance of spending time on themselves every day, whether through exercise at the gym, meditating, reading for pleasure, socializing with friends, or getting their hair done. Taking time for them everyday is a priority.

6. They don’t waste time:

To the mentally invincible, wasting time is a sin and must be avoided at all costs. It means avoiding anything and everything that is a “time suck”. This pertains not only to people and circumstances, but states of mind. For example, I once asked a client of mine if he ever felt down or got depressed. He said that depression was a waste of mental energy, so why allow it to occupy space in your head? Okay. Seems simple enough.

7. They know how to say “NO”:

You know how when someone who is not a friend or family member asks you if you can help them out with something and you don’t have the time but you say yes anyway? Yeah, these folks don’t do that. They protect their time like it was gold bullion, and reserve it for family and close friends. So don’t ask them to man your lemonade stand.

8. They don’t worry about things they can’t control:

I think this is one of the main reasons why these people don’t let themselves get depressed. Things that are out of their control do not even register on their radar. For example, what others think about them, they don’t care. They have no control over, what others think so why worry about it. As long as they are being true to their values, that is all that matters.

9. Family is the #1 priority in their lives:

They draw strength from their family. My first impression of the mentally invincible is that they were islands in a vast ocean. Nothing could be further from the truth. They are not only dependent upon the love of their family, but they are passionate about preserving the integrity of the family unit and always work to make it stronger.

10. They embrace failure:

It is cliché to say that we learn from failure, but to the mentally invincible, failure is elevate to an art form. They draw their power from failure. Failure is the fuel that keeps them moving forward with ever more power and momentum. The more failure they encounter, the stronger they become.

11. They turn anger & frustration into positive energy:

To many, the emotions of anger and frustration have the ability to derail and lead to seriously bad decision-making. Think about how your judgment is distorted when angry or frustrated, and how actions taken in the heat of the moment could be life altering. The mentally invincible do the opposite. They gain clarity and purpose from anger and frustration. It sharpens their focus and allows them to pursue a challenge with renewed energy and purpose.

There are more things, but these are the ones that are most apparent to me. If you ever have the opportunity to spend time with a person like this, embrace it. Get from the experience everything you can and learn from it. The richness of your life can be so enhanced when you are too powerful to be defeated or overcome.

Best Brow Enhancing Products of the Day

Looking good is about looking good from head to toe, and today eyebrows are the hottest feature to focus on. This is necessary because well groomed brows give your face a polished and focused look, while bushy, overgrown brows make you look unkempt and make people think you have a mono-brow instead of two eyebrows.

Here are some eyebrow products that you must have in your eyebrow makeup collection for the perfect brow shape:

• Tweezers

The ideal pair of tweezers works best on any type of facial hair, thick or thin. They are perfectly aligned and point flawlessly. Good tweezers are super efficient at grabbing the short, dark eyebrow hairs that most blunt and clumsy tweezers find difficult to grasp, giving your eyebrows sharp and precise arch lines.

• Brow Shaping Color

If you are looking for eyebrow makeup that grooms your brows without making them look artificial, then go for brow shaping color. With a mascara-like brush, the believable color is ridiculously easy to apply as you can just brush the color onto your brows naturally. It just enhances your natural eyebrow shape, makes it fuller and darker without making your brows look like they have been hideously penciled in.

• Brow Wax and Powder Combo

Get a compact with a wax and powder combo for your eyebrows. These two components are the best eyebrow products as they blend in seamlessly with your natural brows without looking made up. The combination is mistake proof and lasts until you decide to take it off. Available in a myriad of complexion friendly shades, your brows would thank you for using this product.

• Powder Eyebrow Pencil

A powder pencil gives you the best of both worlds when it comes to eyebrow makeup. It is the best tool for you if you are not steady with a brush but still want your brows to have the soft look powder gives. The texture of the pencil is unbelievably soft and smooth and the color and staying power are both exceptional. Unlike typical pencils, powder based brow pencils don’t give your brows a waxy, shiny look.

• The Complete Brow Shaping Kit

Eyebrow shaping kits make grooming your brows really easy. They are simple, easy and cheaper than buying individual products. These usually contain brow powder, highlighter and brow stencils. The stencils work best for people who aren’t that good at makeup since they are foolproof and shape your brows to perfection with minimum effort.

• Eyebrow Masks

Eyebrow masks are great if your natural eyebrows are sparse or have not been growing properly due to illness or accidents. They come with fillers, stencils, templates and diagrams so that you can completely reshape your brows, make them look as natural as possible and enhance your natural beauty.

5 Tips to Avoiding Travel Eczema

Your eczema has been under control for a while. You have attained that sweet spot of equilibrium where your known eczema triggers are understood and avoided, whatever medications you take are working and not causing side effects, your skin is as good as it gets. Only one problem, you will be traveling soon.

Travel eczema, occurs when your body meets up with irritants and allergens you cannot control, as a result of not being on home turf. Whether it’s air, water, food, sun, soaps, detergents or weather, traveling presents some hard to solve problems trying to keep eczema in check.

Sometimes it’s the irritant or allergen you are exposed to that you would usually avoid, that causes the problem. But sometimes, just the change of routine or unfamiliar environments can cause flare-ups. Traveling can be stressful and eczema loves stress.

Here are a few tips to keep eczema at bay:

1) Do a little research into the type of foods you will encounter that are indigenous to the area you will visit. What can you eat, what can’t you eat. Eating the cuisines of other cultures is a major component of travel, and knowing what common additives are used in the preparation of popular dishes is a good way to stay symptom free.

2) Pack enough of your favorite medications, cremes, ointments and solutions. Don’t think you’ll be able to pick some of these up where ever you go. First, some products won’t be available, second , they may be very expensive and third, you don’t want to spend time running a round looking for something to ease your discomfort. If you travel to a tropical climate and you start to experience eczema symptoms like flaking and cracked skin, these minor openings are perfect places for more serious infections to gain a foothold, if you have the right medication this will not present itself as a problem. Better to have a little extra baggage than find yourself without your wonder creme.

3) Try to drink enough water or fluids, this will keep your system less stressed and better able to cope. I try to drink only bottled water that comes as close as possible to the type I drink at home. Meaning, I drink spring water with a specific mineral/chemical make up, so much sulfur, dissolved salts, etc., so when I travel I don’t drink mineral waters which may have higher mineral concentrations or added ingredients. If you drink German beer at home, then drink german beer abroad.

4) Pack and use an anti allergy travel sheet like an Allersac. Bleaches, detergents, soaps, perfumes are just a few of the triggers a travel sheet will help you to avoid when you spend 30% or more, of your time in a strange bed. An anti-allergy travel sheet, one that can be washed repeatedly, will be your best bet. Make sure, which ever travel sheet you use, it has a pillow pocket to protect against direct contact with the hotel pillow. One of the major causes of allergic eczema is dust mite dander. A travel sheet with a small pore size or one that claims protection from dust mites would be wise.

5) Environmental factors like cold, humidity, sunlight and heat can cause flare-ups especially when it’s the change that is the cause. If you travel to a warm climate from mid winter conditions at home, be prepared. Pack clothing that will mitigate reactions, sunblock, hat, gloves etc. The weather might cause your sinus problem to flare, which in turn stresses your body and causes your eczema to activate, or the humidity allows high mold or pollen counts where you travel. There are websites like which publish pollen and mold counts, and many sites for weather forecasts.

Having eczema and learning how it activates and affects you takes years, some people get a handle on it, others don’t, but even if you don’t know what the causes are, some simple precautions, a little research and remaining calm can help you to get the most out of traveling, even with eczema.
