Celiac Disease Basics

Celiac disease is when the body absorbs undigested proteins that could damage the intestinal lining by gluten proteins. "Gluten is the protein in wheat, rye, and barley."

A celiac patient needs to have a gluten free diet ; gluten needs to be eliminated to avoid creating holes in the intestinal walls so that food allergies, toxins from many food dyes, preservatives, and artificial flavors would not be able to enter the bloodstream. Pathogens like bacteria, worms, fungi and viruses can invade the organs if a strict celiac diet would not be followed.

One in around one hundred have celiac disease. Many could have the disease witout having celiac symptoms. People with celiac disease experience symptoms like cancer, epilepsy, attention deficit disorders, chronic fatigue, malnutrition and other varying symptoms like emotional stress. It could also include bloating, malnutrition, gatric upsets, diarhea, fatty stools and vomiting.

Celiac Sprue

Celiac Sprue is also a form of celiac disease; it is a genetic disorder that primarily affects the digestive system. The intolerance for gluten leads to intestinal damage due to inflammation. Celiac sprue can be eliminated when a patient follows a strict diet so that gastric cancers and pernicious anemia can be avoided.

Herpetiformis Dermatitis (DH)

Dermatitis Herpetiformis is a skin disorder associated with gluten hypersensitivity. It attacks the skin like inflammation. It is characterized by blistering, excoriations and urticarial plaques. The typical place where lesions can be found is in prominently bony areas like the back, knees, elbows and buttocks. This condition is strictly itchy. An estimated 15- 25 patients with celiac disease are likely to develop DH.

Crohn's Disease

Is a gastro intestinal infection that affects the small intestines. This condition triggers abdominal pain; it could also manifest bloody stools, vomiting, dehydration and weight loss.

Sufferers experience sever mal absorption and diseases related t vitamin and mineral deficiency such as osteoporosis, scurvy, anemia and rickets in children. Common treatment would often include a complete dose of antibiotic treatments to fight off potentially dangerous infections.

Celiac Disease in Children

Celiac disease symptoms manifest within three to five months after the first intake. A child suffering from celiac will thrive until gluten is introduced into the diet; after that the child will refuse to be fed and would start losing weight. A child will exhibit symptoms like irritability and would develop a large abdomen. Stools would become abnormal and would be loose-like diarrhea.

Symptoms to Expect .

Inability to concentrate in children, difficulty with mental alertness, it could also include mood swings and depression that could also be experienced by teens.

Products like barley, rye and oats should be avoided. While fruits, grilled meats, vegetables, salads, eggs and potatoes can be staple choices for a person who is suffering from celiac.

Wasp Stings; There May Be An Upside

Can we use WASP venom to spur on and activate certain proteins, which are found in the human brain to increase cell growth, brain capacity and neuron transmissions? The reason I ask is that every poison to man seems to stimulate a reaction to fight it. And the old adage “That which does not kill us makes us stronger”. Here is some interesting thoughts on the actual known and studied effects and conclusions.

Now then is such a difference. We know that the venom in WASPS is substantial. And we know that there are about 10,000 known chemicals in the brain. 2000 very prevalent and 200 or more acting in significant amounts during normal brain activity operations. Now then if these chemicals are increased in the brain they will change the current thought. I as most of us can attest that venom from a Bee or Wasp when injected increases adrenaline and increase heart rate. But what else does this do to the human. We know that this poison effects the central nervous system and therefore does act upon the brain since it is connected to the central nervous system. But what if it is exactly injected into the scalp or that part of the body where blood flows interact with the brain. What if we inject it into the brain directly? What is the Genome of the venom? Scientists have mapped out the WASP, Mosquito, Bee, Fly and those things associated with such virus or disease vectors. For instance Malaria, which kills a child every 30 seconds and about a million a year in Sub-Sahara Africa. But the ability to make venom and what it is made of and what travels within it is of significant value in creating anti-viruses, antidotes, etc. One Witch Potion, without going into witch doctor propaganda, Harry Potter Best Selling Books or hocus Pocus, it has been discussed through the ages in many cultures throughout recorded history. So then what good can this provide, what does it do to the human brain and why is it many Bee Keepers seems to be better observers and thinkers than other folks? HMMM? This is an interesting post. Yes it is and there seems to be something to this. People who are allergic to bee stings can die. Those that are not obviously have a defense mechanism and immune system, which jumps into action. But few are without some reaction.

Well before you get all excited about what this venom is made of, they have figured it out.

http://www.biocristalografia.df.ibilce.unesp.br/publications/abstracts/abstract29.html

Turns out it has some ten amino acids in it amongst other things such a proteins. This when shot into a human even at such small amounts is not without an effect. Is it good or bad. Well it maybe good in some regards and it certainly forces the body to defend itself and therefore triggers the manufacture and discharge of a whole other set of naturally made proteins in the body. We know from the relationships between mankind and other species that throughout the last 160,000 years and as many as 1 million years we have in some form or another been living together. Everything affects everything else.

http://bmj.com/cgi/content/full/316/7141/1365 .

Those, which are allergic to bees are rarely allergic to wasps. And vice versa. The Wasp has certain proteins, which do not exist in bee stings. There maybe a correlation to the natural brain stimulants found in the protein PWS 120MCG/V, or that protein triggers the body to counteract the venom and forces a defense system which increases brain activity or changes the areas of the brain which are used in certain ways and for certain things. It is an observation that people who live in areas where wasps live have a percentage of intellectuals coming out of those regions who do not have the benefits of good schools, proper nurturing or balanced diet or high in protein foods which are prevalent.

What is also of interest is during hotter summers we will see a higher degree of these species in North America. And as well, more mosquitoes on other similar genome insects as well as the Killer bees we saw climb into Northern Climates during the last decade. As climates change and cycles come forth, we may find ourselves needing to study these things more and learn how to adapt and create symbiotic relationships with these insects as we attempt to share the country with them. These invaders have different niches but some which coincide and collide with mankind. We need be sure we know which is which. For instance the West Nile Virus is a real problem with animals and livestock. These are sources of our artificial food chain to sustain life as we know it.

We need to know how each creature works and its place in our lives and eco-system so that we can live accordingly and harvest the important things for ourselves. For instance if Wasps eat Mosquitoes and we can harvest the venom then we can have the best of all worlds for us. If Wasps feed on certain types of Mosquitoes such as the common house Mosquito, Culex pipiens, which sucks the blood from birds and occasionally humans, also known to spread West Nile Virus then the global heating will bring in the Wasps and they will take care of the Mosquito populations. The venom if it stings people would not transfer and the Wasps have adapted not be affected by the disease itself. Problems being that Wasps are territorial and might sting people and they just keep stinging and can cause issues such as the ones stated in the previous listed websites above. Now then if we are to really go after these mosquitoes we might have artificial robot or scare crow dummies like humans, which give off a scent or odor that the mosquitoes pick up on and then the flesh like surface would contain underneath acetone or Wasp venom proteins underneath killing the mosquito. Every member of the food chain appears to have an enemy and the giant Mosquitoes with the once inch wing span eat, the other mosquitoes but cannot sting humans, thus they too are positive contributions to the food chain which keeps the biting mosquitoes away. The protein in Wasp Venom is an interesting one and we need to study it more. The Wasp is also used to eat aphids in many places where they are sensitive to the use of insecticides or that the level of potency of insecticide to kill them is too much since the aphids, mosquitoes and other insects have grown accustomed to the insecticides and are resistant now. These are all real issues in modern farming.

There are many types of Mosquitoes about 80, which harm man or carry diseases. We know of as many types of WASPS, some of which like to eat aphids and certain smaller insects like the common house mosquito, which has killed hundreds and seems to be killing more each year with West Nile Virus, which is not very funny. Now then we also have a bark beetle problem so if we can find a genome which likes to eat sand flies for the beach goers and surfers and kite surfers, likes to eat aphids for the farmers, Culex type mosquitoes for the West Nile Situation and Bark Beetles for the forests we are good to go. Meanwhile scientists are trying to decide how to genetically modify organisms such as mosquitoes so they will not carry West Nile virus. If they do that Malaria, Yellow Fever and a host of other terrible problems maybe only one more step away. Think about it.

Optic Atrophy – Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment

Optic atrophy refers to changes in the color and structure of the optic disc associated with variable degrees of visual dysfunction. Optic atrophy may be classified into hereditary, consecutive, circulatory, metabolic, demyelinating, pressure, post inflammatory and traumatic types. Degeneration of the retina and the optic nerve due to different patho-physiological processes is believed to be the cause of this disease.

The Ayurvedic treatment of optic atrophy is aimed at preserving vision, slowing down or reversing the degeneration in the retina and optic nerve and treating the cause, if known. Medicines like Tapyadi-Loh, Punarnavadi-Mandur, Saptamrut-Loh, Panch-Tikta-Ghrut-Guggulu, Punarnavadi-Guggulu, Triphala-Ghrut, Vat-Gajankush-Ras and Maha-Vat-Vidhwans-Ras are used to preserve vision and to prevent or halt the degeneration in the retina and optic nerve. Herbal medicines like Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Behada (Terminalia bellerica), Yashtimadhuk (Glycerrhiza glabra), Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum), Mandukparni (Centella asiatica), Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) and Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa) can also be used for this purpose. Triphala (Three fruits) is a herbal combination which is recommended in the Ayurvedic texts as the mainstay of treatment for most of the diseases of the eyes.

In addition, medicines which act on the ‘Rakta’ and ‘Majja’ dhatus (tissues) are helpful in this condition. These include medicines like Patol (Tricosanthe dioica), Saariva (Hemidesmus indicus), Patha (Cissampelos pareira), Musta (Cyperus rotundus) and Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia). Medicines like Suvarna-Parpati, Suvarna-Malini-Vasant and Abhrak-Bhasma are used in minute doses along with the above-mentioned medicines in order to improve the therapeutic response.

A special procedure called ‘Akshi-Tarpan’ is used for patients with a risk of complete loss of eye vision. In this procedure, a paste is applied around the eyes, and the eyes are then submerged in warm, medicated liquids like Triphala-Ghrut, Yashtimadhuk-Ghrut or Panch-Tikta-Ghrut for a few minutes. At the end of the procedure, the medicine is drained, the paste is removed and the eyes are then cleaned. The entire procedure is repeated at specific intervals and is believed to help in preserving vision in the eyes and promoting regeneration of the optic nerve. Another procedure which is believed to help in optic atrophy is blood-letting from the skin around the eyes with the application of leeches.

It is important to treat the known causes of this condition. Optic atrophy is believed to be an end-stage disease and therefore, it is important to initiate treatment at the earliest possible in order to limit the damage to the optic nerve. All such patients should be under the regular care and supervision of an Ophthalmologist.

Find the Free Auto Repair Manual You Need Online

You can easily get a free auto repair manual for whichever repair need you might have. You need an internet access and have to follow a certain procedure searching for auto repair manuals, but when you have done this procedure a few times it will be very easy to find the right instructions for do it yourself auto repair and it won’t cost you a dime.

There are four types of automotive description documents that you will need to choose from when you want to do a repair;

  • General manuals
  • Diagnosis descriptions
  • Repair manuals
  • Maintenance manuals

General Manuals

In addition to some general manuals, most of these are related to the make. Here you can get step by step guidance on how to repair most of the makes in the vehicle market. Let’s say you have a Honda Acura 2002 model and you want to find a manual for that make and model. What you do is perform the following search in a search engine: “free car manuals+Honda Acura+2002”. Then you will have a long list of sites that provide you with all kinds of descriptions for your Honda Acure 2002 model, and you can choose what you want.

Diagnosis descriptions

Automotive diagnosis manuals can also be sub-divided by make and model. But it can also be divided by the area of the vehicle that is affected, for example engine intake problems, brake problems, cooling problems, exhaust problems, start or stall problems, transmission problems etc. Let’s say you have a start problem. Your search would be “car diagnosis manual+ start problem”, then you should get more than enough repair information to choose from. You can even get diagnostic trees where all options are covered for nothing.

You have probably more than one time heard some annoying noise from somewhere in your vehicle, without finding the source of it. This is one of the most kinky situations to run into because you don’t know if it is a serious signal or just a small thing. Some websites gives you the opportunity to diagnose vehicle problems by the noise, sound and vibrating signals – and that is great. The sooner you find it the sooner you can fix it and then you can relax. When you search, you can describe the sound, for example “whine noise” or “shifter knocks” or “driveline vibration” plus car diagnosis manual plus eventually the make.

Repair Manuals

In addition to regular manuals you can also get very instructive and detailed descriptions in other internet document or websites like articles, etc. The natural way to sub-divide such repairs before searching, is by the area of the vehicle that is going to be repaired, for instance body repair, exhaust repair, suspension fix, interior repair and even general car repair.

You do the search the same way as above; “car repair manual (or description) + the area of repair and go through the list of resources you get.

Maintenance manuals

Though vehicle maintenance is closely related to your vehicle make and model, there are some maintenance issues that are pretty much common whether you have a Cadillac, VW or a Mercedes, for example changing oil, changing air filters, engine wash, fluid maintenance, tier maintenance etc. You can get access to maintenance descriptions by searching for the kind of maintenance plus “car maintenance manual (or description)” plus eventually your make and model.

I think you’ll be amazed of the amount of automotive repair free stuff online.

Federal Drug Classifications

The Federal government has made up a classification for different drugs, and although the laws vary in different states, the federal law almost always comes first. Most drug offenses happen with Schedule I and Schedule II drugs. The Controlled Substances Act regulates the making, selling, and use of all drugs in the US. The Federal Drug Administration as well as various other departments help to classify all drugs into categories based on how they are used and how they work.

Schedule I Drugs- These drugs have a high abuse tendency and have no accepted medical use of any kind. This category includes drugs like Marijuana, Heroin, Ecstasy, LSD, and GHB. Recent protesters have been trying to make marijuana a legal drug because of its “medical benefits”. Pharmacies do not sell Schedule I drugs and are also not available with a prescription by a physician.

Schedule II Drugs- Like the first category this schedule also has a high abuse tendency. Schedule II Drugs have some accepted medical use, but can cause addiction with persistent use. This category includes drugs like Cocaine, Opium, Morphine, Fentanyl, Amphetamines, and Methamphetamines. Schedule II drugs are only available with a prescription by a physician, but not all pharmacies will fill the prescriptions. These drugs require strict record and special storage measures.

Schedule III- This category of drugs have a low abuse tendency and have an accepted medical use. This category includes drugs like Anabolic steroids, Codeine, Ketamine, and Hydrocodone with Aspirin. These drugs are available with a prescription, but not all pharmacies will carry them.

Schedule IV- This category of drugs have a very low abuse tendency and have a low chance of addiction. This category contains drugs like Valium, Xanax, Rohpnol (more often known as the “date rape” drug). Like the others, this drug is available with a prescription only and is not always available at pharmacies.

Schedule V- This category has the lowest abuse tendency of all of the schedules as well as the lowest addiction rate. Schedule V drugs are like cough suppressants with Codeine. These drugs are usually regulated by stores and don’t require a prescription of any kind.

These categories are usually just bases for any judge to look at when thinking of the offense. Almost none of the drug offenses that occur will involve the lower three schedules at all.

Be Wary of Discount Prescription Drug Cards

The newest thing in the American medical savings game is prescription drug cards, where users pay a monthly fee (anywhere from $10-100, approximately) that nets them discounts at their local medical establishment. Doctors, pharmacists, dentists and even hospitals are all jumping on the discount prescription drug card bandwagon.

And although they sound like an excellent idea to most consumers, these discount prescription drug cards do carry some risks. This article will detail what to look out for so that you remain an informed medical consumer.

How Does it All Work?

Usually, discount prescription drug card programs work in the same way. The card company works on the clients’ behalf, getting discounts at a variety of medical establishments. However, the discounts that are ‘purchased’ are not done with the provider directly, but rather with a ‘preferred provider organization’ (PPO). At times, this system works so poorly that cardholders have walked into their medical establishment with their discount prescription drug card, just to be told that the institution has no knowledge of the discount program.

Since there is no regulatory body for discount prescription drug cards, the people who sell these cards need not be licensed or even knowledgeable about the health care field. And when you do walk into the pharmacy with one of these cards, it’s hard to even tell if you are getting any sort of discount at all; many health care providers do not offer any sort of price list for their services in the first place.

Is There a Problem Here?

Well, some legislators in Georgia and Kansas think so. They’ve passed laws stating that discount prescription drug card providers state in ‘prominent type’ that they are not insurance programs, since more than a few consumers were making this mistake.

Other states have taken legal action against these discount prescription drug card companies. In one instance, Argus Health Plans was sued because allegedly they signed customers up for a free trial period, and then charged those same customers’ credit cards with no prior authorization for a discount card membership. More than a dozen other suits are still pending investigation or trial with other discount card providers throughout the US as well.

So How Do I Save Money on My Prescription Drugs?

OF course, not all discount prescription drug cards are poor consumer choices. However, without more legislation in place, consumers are at risk to be scammed while trying to save money. Of course, there are still other ways to save on your prescription drug costs, such as:

– Keep dibs on the fluctuating prices of your prescription drugs, as costs can differ quite dramatically between pharmacies;

– Ask your doctor to prescribe the generic version instead of the brand name version; and

– Try and get health insurance coverage if you don’t have it already.

With a bit of know-how and investigative work, you’ll be able to save on your medications without having to resort to discount prescription drug cards anytime soon.

The Importance of Proper Storage of Drugs Illustrated by the Example of the Latest SSRI Drug

STORAGE is the process of keeping drugs at home. Drugs are chemicals that react to external stimulants such as heat, moisture, light, dust, etc. In many cases, such reaction leads only to superficial changes, such as discoloration. In many other cases, the reaction may affect the drug more seriously, leading to reduction or elimination of its efficacy and/or potency. There are cases of drugs that, thus affected, not only exert no healing effect but also cause adverse effects on the patient’s health,

Storage therefore must not be taken lightly. This is even more important in the storage of anti-depressant drugs such as Lexapro because if its healing property is lost or diminished, the patient, given his or her psychological/mental condition, may altogether refuse to take any medication and allow his or her condition to deteriorate to suicidal tendencies, if not suicide itself.

Label instructions: It is always a good practice to read storage instructions printed on the container or strips in which the medicine comes. Many liquid medicines are required to be used within a certain number of days after opening the container, after which their potency is reduced or lost. Reading instructions on the label is therefore the first thing one should do on purchasing a medicine. In fact, these instructions are enough to store medicines properly and one does not usually require further advice on it.

Storage of Lexapro: Lexapro is the latest anti-depressant drug belonging to the Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) group of drugs. It is used in the treatment of depression and generalized anxiety disorders. The following are the storage instructions for Lexapro, which must be strictly adhere to:

  • Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C)
  • Store away from heat, direct light, and moisture. Keep the capsule or tablet away from the bathroom, kitchen sink, and other damp places. Heat or moisture can cause the medicine to break down or crack
  • Keep out of reach of children (this is applicable to all medicines)

To conclude, do not take storage of drugs lightly. Improper storage can reduce or even eliminate potency of the drug and this can dilute the patient’s confidence in the treatment he or she is receiving. In the case of patients with psychosomatic illnesses, this dilution of confidence can seriously impair chances of recovery and can even lead to suicide.

How to Make Sperm Thick – Ejaculate More and Thicker Semen Naturally

Your semen is an index of your sexual health. All your body secretions are affected by your diet and it is no different in case of sperm or semen that you produce. Thick sperm is always better as compared to thin and watery semen in terms of fertility and virility. Not only this, it is also important to keep in mind that most women find large volume of thick semen visually stimulating.

In order to make your sperm thick, make sure you get all the minerals and vitamins that your body needs to produce healthy semen. Zinc, magnesium and selenium are extremely important minerals as far as your semen health is concerned. You can well imagine the importance of zinc by the fact that almost 70% of zinc in your body is actually contained in your semen.

Foods that contain zinc include oysters, red meat, poultry, bananas etc.,

Besides proper diet, physical activity is also extremely important to ensure good semen health and quality. Not only this, you must also try to reduce stress in life. Stress can affect your body in extreme ways and not only lead to a reduced sex drive and erectile dysfunction but can also result in low semen volume and poor sperm count.

Natural Semen Enhancing Supplement

Such supplements are one of the best natural ways to help you ejaculate more and thicker semen. They are formulated with various potent herbs, minerals and amino acids that give a boost to your semen production. Not only this, they also increase the consistency of your ejaculate.

Some of the natural ingredients in such supplements include l-arginine, l-glysine, l-carnitine, zinc gluconate, zinc asparate, zinc oxide, solidilin, ku gua, fucus vesiculosus, drilizen, xian mao etc.,

Some of the rare Chinese herbs are used to formulate such semen enhancers. A good quality supplement can make you produce up to 500% more semen within a few months. Since such pills are essentially dietary supplements you must give them time to work and produce effects. Ideally you must have them for at least 3 months to reap the real benefits.

Since such supplements are 100% natural, there are no side effects.

Besides helping your produce larger volume of thick sperm, such semen enhancers also give a boost to your sex drive or libido. Not only this, they also ensure rock solid erections due to increased blood flow to the penis. Why Steamboat Springs Is the Ideal Place to Live

Three hours from a major city, 331 inches of average annual snow fall, 59 annual average frost free days, and less than 11,000 people…those are the first reasons why Steamboat Springs, CO is the ideal place to live, now let me give you a few more. I’ll try to be brief, but keep in mind, there’s more where this is coming from! First and foremost, the community is in fact, a community first, and a world-class ski resort second. Ask anyone who lives here and they’ll be happy to tell you that in Steamboat Springs you have friends and neighbors who care about you and watch out for you. There’s a moose in your drive-way? Rest assured, one of your neighbors will call and let you know. Ask any second home owner or visitor about Steamboat Springs, and one of the first things they’ll say is that the people in our town are so friendly. This fact alone would make Steamboat Springs, CO the perfect place to call home and without a doubt the ideal place to raise a family – let me say it one last time before moving on, “the people are nice and the people here care about you.”

OK so everyone’s nice, but I get asked, “What do you do when you’re 3+ hours from a major city, and it’s cold and snowy so many days of the year?” Well let’s start with summer when it’s not cold and snowy and people come to this ski resort town and without a trace of champagne powder on the ground they spend a week here and decide to stay. Summertime in Steamboat Springs, CO brings the free concerts at the base of Howelsen Hill, fly-fishing in the Yampa and Elk Rivers, hiking and biking on trails for every level and surrounded by Rocky Mountain beauty, golfing at public or private courses, the weekend rodeo that thrills both locals and visitors, and of course tubing down the Yampa River for those who like to beat the heat in chilly, fresh mountain water. Summertime also means the annual July 4th parade, Art-in-the-Park, Hot Air balloon festival, Steamboat Running & Bike Series races…and after all this activity, a margarita on the Rio deck, a brick oven pizza sitting on Rex’s back patio, or an ice cream cone from Johnny B. Good’s take-out window hit the spot. Locals in Steamboat Springs take full advantage of the short, but very sweet summer season – we know winter is right around the corner.

And now for winter…how do we Steamboat locals co-exist with the thousands of skiers and snowboarders who come year-after-year for our champagne powder and western hospitality? Well for starters, you’re likely to see mostly locals in the gondola line at 7:45am because we’ve listened to the 5:00am snow report and know there’s 14 inches of powder on Storm Peak that need to be skied before heading into work a little later than normal, but totally refreshed and energized for the day! But we don’t just ski here in Ski Town USA, when you live here and it’s wintertime, you take your kids to Winter Sports Club, you take a dip in the Old Town Hot Springs pools, you snowshoe in the moonlight to the perfect spot for sitting and drinking some wine that was in your backpack all night, and you hit the early bird special at the Orr House where a sizzling steak and huge salad bar await. Local winter events that even us locals wait for every year include the Winter Carnival where the high school band “marches” down Lincoln Avenue on skis, there are races where (if you’re brave) you’re pulled by a horse while sitting on a shovel, and then you trek over to Howelsen Hill to spend an evening watching fireworks where the lighted man skis down the hill, shooting fireworks from multiple body locations…some things you just have to see to believe.

So now that we’ve hit on the two main Steamboat Springs’ seasons, I’d like to share with you the everyday amenities we have here that don’t take 45 minutes in rush hour traffic to get to – like Steamboat’s LEED-Silver certified Bud Werner Memorial Library located on the banks of the Yampa River and home to not only an expansive book and magazine collection, but also to public computers, a lively children’s section, local history room, public meeting rooms and some of the best views (with cozy seating )of the Yampa River. Where there’s a state-of-the-art public library you might think education is pretty important too, and you’d be right…from the 3 local Steamboat Springs’ public elementary schools which feed into the Steamboat Springs’ Middle and High Schools to our private schools where Lowell Whiteman draws students from an international base of applicants each year. Top that off with Colorado Mountain College, a community college who just started offering some 4 year degrees, and you can see we have quite a robust educational system here in Steamboat Springs, CO.

High speed internet affords those who are lucky enough to have location neutral jobs the opportunity to work in our Rocky Mountain paradise versus a corporate high rise home office in the suburbs. And high speed internet helps the up and coming local companies like SmartWool, Moots and Big Agnes compete globally. I digress, back to the amenities that don’t take 45 minutes (ok, be honest, an hour) to get to…here’s the short list: ice skating rink, state-of-the-art tennis center, equestrian centers, Strings’ music pavilion, Nordic ski centers, movie theaters, bowling alley and fabulous local restaurants. One last area to address because even though we like to think we’re the epitome of health and fitness here in Steamboat Springs, we do get sick and we do get injured, and to fix us up and nurse us back to health, the Yampa Valley Medical Center is staffed by some of the best doctors and specialists in the country and it’s supported by numerous private medical practices that address any possible ailment…from the bum knee that’s gonna need replacement at some point, to the sore back in need of some realignment.

So there you have it…and of course there’s more. We wouldn’t love living here so much if every wonderful thing about Steamboat could be captured in a 4 paragraph blog. You just have to come and enjoy our northwest Colorado paradise with us in all four seasons to truly appreciate what Steamboat offers. But remember, the most important thing is the wonderful people you’ll meet here. We’ll want to know where you’re from, what brought you here and then we’ll want to share our favorite Steamboat pastime as well as our favorite restaurant with you. And if you get stuck on the way up Rabbit Ears pass in January, we’ll probably be nice enough to stop and help you put chains on your tires too. Gotta run, it’s a powder morning…or it will be in about 4 months!

Rowatinex For Kidney Stone Treatment

Effective kidney stone treatment is like the holy grail for stoneformers or people that are suffering from kidney stones. Kidney Stone is one of the most common reason for hospital emergency room visit. Passing a kidney stone can give you an extreme pain sensation, it has been said to be ten times more painful than natural child birth.

There are medical procedures that can help remove the kidney stone from a patient, procedures like Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is non evasive and can surely help the patient relieved from the stone. However, these procedures are expensive and will not guarantee that you will not have another stone attack.

People who have experience the pain of passing a stone will absolutely dread another painful experience, but unfortunately, there will be a greater chance of forming another stone after you’ve had your first. There is absolute cure for kidney stone, there is no procedure that will make a stoneformer free of another stone attack. But the very least a person can do is do a lifestyle change and to lessen the frequency of stone attacks and to deal with this painful crystals while they are very small and can be dissolved.

As a certified stoneformer, I live in horror for another painful stone attack. I little pain in the back makes me so scared that it will into a pain like a bus hitting me over and over again. So I’m in constant search for an effective kidney stone treatment, I find that besides living healthy and drinking tons of water a day, taking rowatinex is an effective maintenance treatment

ROWATINEX is a diuresis that relaxes the urinary tract and assist in passing and dissolving of stones. If you were diagnosed with stones and the stone is less than 5mm your urologist might advise you to just go home drink fluids, take pain medications and wait for the stone to pass, which you will be lucky if it passes in the next few hours some stones will not pass for a few weeks. But luckily I found a good Urologist who did not only advised me to take water and pain medications, he also prescribed Rowatinex that he said will dissolved my stones and he was right, I never saw the stone pass and the pain was gone the next day, the next month during my Kidney Ureter Ultrasound, the stone was completely gone, and it was a 3mm stone.

That was my third stone attack in 5 months. I was then advised by my Urologist to take Rowatinex for 1 week, 2 capsules a day every months to avoid crystal build up. And I have never had another stone attack for over 2 years since then. So believe this little round capsules does miracles.

This medicine does not have any side effects and all of its components are safe, it is even safe for pregnant and lactating moms. So if you are a kidney stone sufferer, I suggest you ask your urologist about Rowatinex

Using Reiki to Heal a Broken Heart

When dealing with heartbreak the widespread belief is that time will heal all wounds. Although this is most assuredly true, there is a way to accelerate the healing process to bring some much needed emotional relief. That way is Reiki! Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a form of healing energy that was first discovered in Japan in the early part of the 20th century by Dr. Mikao Usui and was later brought to the United States in the 1950s. It is now beginning to become more main stream as an alternative treatment for healing and well-being and is an excellent way to speed up the healing of a broken heart.

Reiki is gentle and non-invasive and has been shown to dissolve energetic blocks in the body which in turn allows the body to heal more rapidly. In his book, Reiki, the Healing Touch, William Lee Rand describes Reiki as being able to heal,”…by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away. “

Since Reiki works on both a physical and spiritual level, it offers extra support when one is going through a break-up. Reiki is administered by the Reiki practitioner placing his or her hands on the client and allowing the Reiki energy to flow through his or her palm chakras. The Reiki energy then enters the client’s body and dissolves blocks of energy it encounters thus harmonizing the body and spirit of the client. This in turn allows the client to more readily heal from emotional and spiritual trauma caused by the break-up.

Many Reiki practitioners are also able to clear out and balance the chakras of their clients. Having a Reiki practitioner clear out and balance one’s heart chakra, specifically, during this delicate time will not only help one to become more loving and kind to oneself, but may also allow one to more quickly be able to trust and offer love in a future relationship.

Reiki is a powerful yet simple holistic modality that everyone can benefit from and especially those dealing with a recent loss. If you feel that Reiki treatments are something you would like to pursue to assist in your healing process, you may find a local practitioner by doing an internet search of Reiki practitioners. However, not all practitioners are the same nor charge the same price and just because a practitioner charges a great deal for a treatment does not mean he or she is the best practitioner.

It is best to do a thorough investigation of all practitioners you find in the area and compare not only prices and services offered but to also call a few practitioners to ask questions about his or her practice. This way you will get a better feel for each practitioner as an individual and can decide on whom you intuitively feel best about booking time with for your first appointment.

In most cases, after just your first session, you will begin to feel much better both physically and emotionally. The most common experience among Reiki clients is a feeling of deep relaxation and well-being during and after a Reiki treatment with the more profound healing results being noticed after a few sessions.

Reiki is an excellent way to speed up your emotional healing and I highly recommend it to anyone experiencing any type of heartache.

Introduction To Bungee Jumping

Bungee jumping is an ill-advised sport for the faint hearted. You might be surprised that though a lot of people take the initiative to try it out, most back down just before the jump. Free falling from a really high place with gravity working against you is one of the scenarios most people consider to be their worst nightmare. But if can overcome your fear enough to take that first jump, you will find that bungee jumping is one of the most adrenalin heightening extreme sports you may come across. Once you get a taste of that rush of adrenalin you will find yourself coming back for more, like a lot of people do.

Most of you may be familiar with the concept but still here are the highlights. First a long, extremely strong and stretchy cord is tied around the jumper’s ankle, who leaps off of the jumping point. While falling freely the cords reaches its maximum stretching capacity and jerks the jumper back up and fall again. The process continues until the jumper stops bouncing to just dangle in midair. Bouncing up and down might seem nauseating but it’s really exhilarating.

Bungee jumping requires no skill or experience. Just scream your head off on your way down and have a good time doing it. Of all the different type of extreme sports that are out there bungee jumping has the least number of accidents though it seems to be dangerous. Most people feel apprehensive about two things. First, the rope might snap on them. This is highly unlikely since, to ensure your safety, all commercial bungee jumping cords are strictly quality tested. Secondly, they might swing back and hit the wall behind them. The bungee jumping operator by extending the bungee jumping platform away from the cliff has already taken care of this probability. However, you need to exercise extreme caution and stay away from the cliff if you are not enlisting professional help.

Bungee jumping is not without its risks despite all the precautions taken. Although the chances of equipment failure are low, during the actual fall there are a lot of things that can go wrong. One who doesn’t have a lot of limber can easily end up pulling a muscle or dislocating something because of the successive jerking that occurs after the first fall. Many instances of eye injury while bungee jumping have also been reported.

Across the world there are lots of places where you can bungee jump. You will find a bungee jumping platform wherever you can find a canyon, bridge, or dam that gives more than a few 100 feet of height. The Bungee Tower in Cairns, the Verzasca Dam in Switzerland and the highest one of all, the Macau Tower in China are some of the most famous bungee jumping points in the world. You are provided with professional, commercial help in getting your equipment on and your form perfected at these places.

Due to its nature, bungee jumping does not offer a lot of chances of competition though there are a few areas within the sport that offer some competition, acrobatics being one of them. Judging bungee jumpers based on the moves that they could pull off while on air, is the core substance of a few specialized competitions.

Bungee jumping starts your adrenaline pumping just by the mere thought of it. It will definitely be your cup of tea if you are one of those people who love to take part in new and exciting extreme sports.

Sex After Prostate Cancer – A Wife’s Secrets

I’m not a doctor, I’m writing this article to share for purposes of encouragement, support, and genuine love for helping others through tough times. Whether male or female, we’re human and we have issues with our bodies or we’re faced with dealing with issues other family members, friends, and loved ones have with their bodies. We’re born and we’ll be out of here someday, along the way we need help.

Cancer problems and emotional trauma over cancer are not new to me. My grandmothers both had Cancer. I watched them suffer. My husband’s prostate Cancer was a shock but thank-God, with different results.

When Gary was at work he worked hard. Some would say he had the managerial case of workaholism. He didn’t want to go to a doctor, but he was having some difficult with sexual performance. His body wasn’t cooperating with his mind. He wanted more and his body was reacting less. This is not going to be an x-rated article. It’s very clean. I just want to be clear.

He told his boss about not having the results he wanted with his body and how he felt frustrated. His boss kept telling him to see a doctor, don’t let it go, don’t make light of this. Deal with it. Get an examination and ask for help.

Finally, Gary went to the doctor and was told he had Prostate Cancer. He denied the diagnosis until he finally sought the best medical doctor he could be recommended to in the field. He ultimately had the prostate removed in a procedure that did not damage the nerves so that he would has the best possible chance of resuming sexual activity with some time.

First, there’s definitely different experiences to understand after the removal of the prostate. When a man ejaculates, there’s no fluids coming out. No messy sheets or partners, yet it feels good. That’s different. How does a man emotionally feel about not having the fluids shoot out? It takes adjustment and since that’s not coming back, he has to adjust to the physical difference, if he wants to recover better emotionally.

What happens when the desire for sexual experiences exist after the surgery and the body is not ready to cooperate with the mind, what can you do to help. A partner should be positively supportive of the desires. Sometimes, men will seek out equipment to aid with sexual processes and functions and these devices can be expensive and sometimes cause more frustration than they are worth.

For couples, it can be so helpful to find as many other loving things to do to each other, in addition to the concept of intercourse. There’s so much more to explore in the areas of sensuality and gratification of the senses. They are worth exploring.

Find other ways of enjoyment for each other whether it’s the adult-type movies, massage, and other fun activities. Talk about your issues and concerns and ask questions of professionals as much as you need or want help.

Another embarrassing sexual issue for a Prostate Cancer patient is following the removal of the prostate, there tends to be more urine leakage and that’s not always something which can be controlled so be prepared with extra underwear and paper towels around the house to ease embarrassment. It’s also great to take a change of pants to keep in the trunk of the car if you feel you need to change.

There’s no magical date that you can declare for when your body will return to normal functioning after the prostate has been removed, but Gary was told to expect about 3 years and that was accurate for him. At first, nighttime relations after working all day were not the best time of day for us, morning was best. With a little more time, day or night became the same and we’re much happier and very thankful for having each other, being patient and loving, and for always believing we’d experience loving like before the surgery.

Treatment of an Unstable Knee – How to Survive Knee Instability Problems – Braces For Support

How is your knee stability currently?

Are you having any problems with it being unstable?

Here are two cases studies that show the effects of treatment of an unstable knee. John and Pete were both in their 50s when they had their unstable knee diagnosed as a tear in their anterior cruciate ligaments. Both of them were active in sports and had been so all of their lives. Both of them had years to work before their retirement and needed to be able to walk so that they could get on with their activities of daily living. Neither of them had desk jobs.

Both John and Pete chose different treatments for their unstable knee problem, also known as a trick knee. The trick knee had a habit of giving out when they were walking, although it was not always such a painful condition. Still, both men knew that the problem had to be addressed.

How John Treated his Unstable Knee

John went to see an orthopedic surgeon at the urging of his doctor. The surgeon explained to him that the trick knee was due to a torn ligament and that it could be corrected with surgery. He explained that the surgery would keep him off work for a year and advised him to seek out disability. John had disability insurance and decided that he would go along with this recommendation. He took a leave of absence from his job as a carpenter and underwent the surgery.

The surgery for the unstable knee was successful in repairing the ligament. John was in the hospital a few days, during which he was in pain but given a morphine pump. When he got home, he had the morphine pump for a week and was then given a painkiller and asked to rest his knee for a few months.

After a few weeks, he gradually began to feel less pain but was growing more and more dependent on the pain killers. He began rehabilitation. It took him longer to get back to work than normal and he found that he was on disability for over a year before returning to work, due to other complications with his health. During this time, he developed a dependency to painkillers.

How Pete Treated his Unstable Knee

Pete did not have disability insurance and was worried about taking so much time off work. He too had the option of surgery to repair the ligament but opted to use a knee brace for his knee. He found that this solved the problem of the trick knee and his knee did not give out so much.

Using knee braces and on occasion, over the counter medication, he controlled the problem. His doctor also advised him to lose weight, which he did.

A Reflection on the Treatment Options for an Unstable Knee

Today, John is back at work and his knee feels pretty good. But his other knee is now giving him trouble. He found that the year off from work hurt him financially and it was also tough to get back into the swing of work. In addition, he found that it was very difficult to kick the painkiller habit. He is opting for more conservative treatment with the other knee and will not undergo knee surgery, despite the fact that the surgery on his other knee was deemed a success.

Pete still wears the knee brace and takes aspirin once in a while. He also started swimming and exercising his knee and lost 15 pounds. He feels in better shape than ever and the trick knee does not give him much of a problem at all.

If you feel like one or both of your knees is unstable, then you should consider taking your stability to the next level with a low profile brace. Knee supports can greatly add to the stability of your knee and can have you looking back six months from now, wondering what you ever did without one.

Setting Up and Using Timers With DISH Is Simple

A DISH timer is your instruction telling the receiver the programs you want to view in the future. For most ERD (External Recording Device) or VCR, you select a specific program on a specific channel, and tell the receiver how often you want to record that program. Be sure to set up the receiver to control your VCR.

There are four types

  • VCR records an event on a previously inserted tape for later viewing. Make sure you have your VCR connected and turned on. Also, be sure to set up the receiver to tell the VCR to start/stop recording.
  • Auto Tune automatically changes the channel for live viewing of the event.
  • Reminder creates an on-screen reminder when the event is about to air.
  • Ext automatically changes the channel for live viewing of the event and sends commands to a compatible external device, such as the Pocket DISH, which is connected to your receiver’s RCA-type or S-Video outputs. This option is not available unless you enable the feature. This allows you to record to the external device, instead of recording to the receiver’s hard drive.

Frequency

Deciding how often you want to watch a program will help you make the best choice:

  • Once records a program once (good for movies, sporting events or other one-time programs.)
  • Weekly records a program once a week, at that time, on that channel.
  • Daily records a program once a day, at that time, on that channel
  • Mon-Fri records a program once a day, Monday through Friday, at the selected time, on that channel.

When a Timer Starts

For two minutes before a it starts a recording, the receiver may display a digital countdown (timer reminder) on the TV screen. This countdown appears when the program begins. While the countdown is displayed, you can do one of the following options:

  • Press CANCEL to clear the symbol from the TV screen. This does not stop the timer from starting
  • Press INFO or SELECT to see more information. If you do this, you have the following choices:
  • Select OK to continue with the timer.
  • Select Stop Timer to stop the timer.

Note: Pressing the INFO on the timer reminder only works one time. Subsequently pressing INFO results in the current program’s information being displayed.

Special Considerations

  • For Locked Programs you must enter the receiver password before you can create an automatic timer. You can create a manual timer for a locked program without an automatic timer. You can create a manual timer for a locked program without entering the password. However, if you do this when the timer operates, the receiver may display only an error or password entry menu.
  • For Pay Per View Programs you must order a Pay Per View program when you create a timer for it.
  • For Blacked Out Programs if you set a timer for a program that is blacked out in your area, when the timer operates the receiver may only display an error.

Reasons Why Timers are Skipped

If a timer is skipped, the reason is stated on the Timers List.

  • Priority this timer had a lower priority than other events being recorded at the time.
  • User a user chose to skip that timer.
  • Duplicate Event there is already another timer set to record that program.
  • Events exists in DVR the program was already recorded and can be seen in the Daily Schedule list.
  • Not a New Episode used for New Episode timers. Currently, a New Episode is one that has the current year listed the Program Guide information.
  • Incorrect event for Weekly, Daily, and Monday-Friday timers. If the guide has a different event listed the timer will be skipped. For example, the timer was set up on a Saturday for Daily, but the program is broadcast only Monday-Friday, so the timer will be skipped on the weekends.

Using the Timers List

Use the timers list to:

  • View the general list of timers.
  • Create a Manual timer
  • Edit a timer.

Setting Up an Automatic Timer

  • You can create an automatic timer for a future event. The following instructions explain the simplest way to set up an automatic timer.
  • Find the future program you want to record using the Program Guide or Browse Banner. The program can be a satellite or over-the-air program.
  • Select the future event. The Create Timer screen displays
  • Select the Timer Frequency
  • Select a Timer Type.
  • Select Create Timer to finish making the new timer.

Setting Up A Manual Timer

  • Press Menu and select Timers.
  • Select Create Timer.
  • Select Timer Frequency
  • Select Timer Type
  • Select the Channel (satellite o rover-the-air), using the remote control ARROWS or NUMBER PAD to find the channel.
  • Select Edit Time
  • Set the Start Time and End Time, being sure to specify AM or PM
  • Set the Date
  • Select Create Timer
  • Select Done

Deleting a Timer

  • Press MENU and then select Timers
  • Select the timers to delete
  • Select Delete. The timers are deleted

Overlapping

If you try to create event timers on overlapping programs, the receiver displays a screen with the dates and times of both programs. The receiver also displays this screen if a program time has changed causing one timer to overlap another. You must delete or edit one of the timers.

Enabling Record Link

Your receiver has a timer feature called Record Link. This feature sends data (audio, video and other commands) to an external device that you can connect to the receiver’s RCA Type or S-video outputs, allowing the program to be stored on an external device.

Tips

  • It’s very important to leave the receiver enabled to receive updates. By doing this, the receiver can have the latest software and Program Guide information. Make sure the Updates feature is enabled.
  • If you VCR does not respond to the receiver’s commands, see if you accidentally left the protective film on the receiver’s front panel.
