Cure for Insomnia – Simply and Sensibly

People can be burdened with insomnia during certain periods of time and may often become a severe disorder. Some can be totally unable to sleep, while some may do so easily, but end up waking up in the middle of the night. Being deprived of sleep can cause a person to have physical and psychological difficulties like weak immunity and poor performance in the job or even at home.

Understanding why you had insomnia in the first place, like whether from a stressful environment or bouts of depression, is the initial step in coping with the disorder. It can also result from the drugs taken and foods and drinks you intake prior to sleeping. Staying away from these reasons is sometimes enough to help someone get rid of insomnia. But, if the problem is because of improper sleep habits or excessive worrying, other approaches should be considered.

Stress can cause someone to be unable to sleep. If this is the case, curing insomnia may be hard. It is one of the most obvious reasons why someone is unable to sleep and the cure may not be easy to find.

Medicines are usually given to people with insomnia. However, the positive effects are short lived. You may eventually get addicted to these pills where you end up thinking that you won’t sleep without taking them. Thus, it may be better to find natural supplements to help you sleep.

There are other things you can do to get rid of insomnia. For one, if you like to smoke, then it may be time to stop doing it. Some people see smoking as a way to calm the nerves, but in reality, it is a nerve stimulant that can lead to sleep deprivation. Taking caffeinated drinks can also lead to insomnia. Try drinks with no caffeine to help you treat insomnia.

Another way to get quality sleep and treat insomnia is to engage in afternoon exercises. Maintaining a regular sleep habit and sticking to them can lead to a normalized cycle of sleep. Some methods also require that you go to the bedroom only when you feel sleepy, and go out when you don’t.

But, it’s good to know that there are proven treatments to get you sleeping right again. One technique involves the use of your brain and body while closing your eyes. This treatment uses a mind exercise called brain entertaining. It has been used for a number of years to improve memory and help get over mind problems. Recently, it has been known as a way to treat insomnia.

Yan Muckle, a former insomnia sufferer invented a cure for insomnia called Sleep Tracks. It is a series of discs that discuss how you can successfully combat insomnia.

How To Do Decking

Winter months are long and dark. As soon as it hits spring we start to plan how we will spend our summers. In this article we look at a project that you can start now so that you can enjoy your hot summer nights. If you are considering doing your own decking, be sure to allow plenty of time because it can be quite tricky.

For your decking you will need:

  • A Pencil
  • Squared paper
  • A metal tape measure
  • Some wooden pegs
  • Some string
  • A strong Spade
  • A weed proof membrane, you can use a heavy-duty rubble sack that has been opened out.
  • Gravel or other small stones
  • Wooded deck boards and joists
  • Spindles
  • Newel posts
  • Handrail
  • A saw
  • Depending on the size, one or more tins of wood preservative
  • A drill
  • Some stainless steel or galvanised countersunk screws
  • An electric screwdriver
  • A long spirit level

  1. Draw a plan of your decking on the squared paper. You can use this to work out how much wood, and weed membrane that you will need.
  2. Using the pegs and string mark out where you will be putting the decking.
  3. Once you have dug the ground over and removed all of the weeds and grasses make sure the ground is level and spread out the weed membrane. Cover the membrane with the gravel or small stones.
  4. The next thing to do is create the frame. Start by putting together the joists to the size of the outside edge of the decking. Screw them together.
  5. Mark the frame every 400mm for the floor joists.
  6. Cut the joists to size. Put the frame and floor joists into the correct position in your garden.
  7. Join them together securely using three of the screws at each end of the joists. Use the spirit level to make sure that all the joists are level.
  8. Next you need to place the deck boards on top of the frame. For the strongest decking the deck boards should be placed at a right angle to the joists. Use 2 of the 50mm countersunk screws at each end of the deck board to secure it. There should be a gap of at least 3mm between each board because the wood may swell in warm or moist conditions.
  9. Most decking designs include a handrail. To create your own handrail, You will need to create evenly spaced grooves for the spindles in the handrail, you can either glue or nail them together. Do the same with the newel posts. Attach the spindles to the outside edge of the decking using long nails.
  10. Use the wood preserve liberally to cover the whole decking and handrail. This should be repeated every few years to keep your decking in tip-top condition.

Roll on the summer evenings with a good book and glass of wine.

Why Do We Find Genital Herpes Dreadful?

Let us take an example. It is an extreme example but needed to show clearly what I want to say. Suppose you have two friends. One gets cancer and other gets genital herpes. The chances are more favorable that the person with cancer will discuss about it openly while the person with herpes will try to hide the fact. Do you agree with my thinking that this may happen as I have described? Does this not look surprising that people with herpes are so scared of it. Why is this so? Let us discuss.

Herpes on genitals is considered bad. it shows that you may have been relating with many people who in turn relate to many others. We somehow feel low about this kind of behavior. But herpes can be contacted with a single partner who had cold sore. The little stigma that is attached to genital herpes needs to be removed.

Herpes is for lifetime. This is another factor that plays on our mind. Oh, now that I have genital herpes I must suffer for my life. I agree that herpes cannot be eliminated forever. But how many people get recurrences? What are the frequencies of these recurrences? And what is the intensity of these breakouts? Not much in most of the cases. Today anti viral medicines can control genital herpes to a great extent. Suppressive therapy will practically reduce the recurrences to nil. You need to discuss this with your doctor.

One need not advertise that one has genital herpes. But one need not feel any dread about it. It is not life threatening. It occurs once in few months and goes away even without medicines.

How Do Should Deal With the Peptic Ulcer Disease?

Do you know what PUD is? Do you know what causes PUD? PUD is the acronym for Peptic Ulcer Disease and it strikes billions of people around the world. It is estimated that over one million Americans suffer from PUD every day. It is unknown how many more people do not realize what condition they have and believe it to be heartburn, when it is in fact an ulcer.

Most people never know they have an ulcer until something bad happens. They associate the symptoms with indigestion or, as stated before, heartburn. But you can help yourself by learning what some of the symptoms are so that you will know to get treatment for your ulcer as soon as possible.

There are some noticeable symptoms of ulcers. The first is abdominal pain. This is the clue that something is wrong with the body, but unfortunately many people attribute it to something else. Other symptoms include: nausea, vomiting, weight loss, abdominal bloating and vomiting of blood.

Many people go untreated for ulcers each year because the symptoms often mirror other illness or diseases. This is not something that will go away without treatment and there can be severe complications if left untreated. It is important to note the symptoms and then talk them over with your primary care physician as soon as possible.

There are treatments for Peptic Ulcer Disease but you first have to go to a doctor to have a thorough evaluation performed. Many of the treatments are dependent upon two things. The first factor is age. Many ulcers in young people can be treated with an over the counter antacid.

If you are older, then the doctor may need to prescribe stronger medication to reduce the amount of acid in your stomach. The second factor is whether or not it is an H pylori ulcer which is not uncommon even though it may also be a stomach ulcer or a duodenal ulcer. That requires antibiotics to help clear it up.

You can help your treatment for Peptic Ulcer Disease by watching what you eat, minimizing stress and by stopping any tobacco use. Your goal is to live healthy and along with medications designed to treat gastric ulcers, you can begin living again.

Do not let your ulcers hold you down from living a good life. Always follow the doctor's advice if you want to get rid of those pesky, internal sores that are causing you so much pain and misery.

Are You Looking For Cholesterol Drugs Without Side Effect

High cholesterol level is probably one of the wide spread complication among Americans. Almost forty to fifty percent Americans have their LDL level higher than the normal. In order to bring down the level, medications are quite frequently in use. But these medications are only taken when diet measures and exercises are unable to regulate high level of bad cholesterol. Most of the broadly prevalent cholesterol medications are likely to result in certain side effects. That's why great research and development is on in America to come up with effective anti cholesterol treatments with little or no side effect.

Although with more side effects or less side effects, old groups of cholesterol medication are widely accepted. However diabetic individuals must take these medications with extreme care. They must seek their doctor's opinion before consuming these medicines.

Folks taking medicines must keep track of their blood cholesterol level so that they may not get indulged in over usage of drugs. These cholesterol lowering drugs work in divergent ways however their purpose remains the same.

Various medications could be listed as follows-

Statin medications
Statin is probably most sought after cholesterol medication. It is very active bad cholesterol reducing agent. Medicines of this group could lower cholesterol even even to sixty percent. It gains liver's capacity to eliminate LDL or bad cholesterol from blood by increasing level of HDL or good cholesterol. However its usage may result in intestinal and certain other side effects. Simvastatin, Pravachol, Lovastatin and Lipitor are some of the medicines of this group.

Niacin medications
It is also known as Nicotinic acid medicines. Medicines of this group too serve the same purpose. Along with LDL cholesterol it also affects Triglyceride. These vitamin B3 drugs could be even found in natural food products. It also helps in widening blood vessels. Its consumption often results in headache and itching.

Bile Acid sequestrants
These absorbers in intestine help prevent cholesterol from getting into blood circulation for that they get adhered with bile and excess cholesterol coming out through stool. It is an effective cholesterol reducing agent. Colestipol and Cholestyramine are two acids in use to serve the purpose.

Derivatives of fibric acids
It brings total cholesterol count. It also increases level of good cholesterol. This medicine is specifically meant for lower triglyceride. Gemfibrozil and Fenofibrate are two popular medicines of this group. These medicines may give way to certain digestive disorders.

Cholesterol absorption inhibitors
These are relatively new drugs. These facilitates intestinal absorption of low density cholesterol so help in preventing excessive deposition of blood cholesterol. Ezetimibe is one of the drugs of this group that is being used frequently.

These are widely prevalent medication groups. None of these drugs come as over the counter drugs. Some new cholesterol drugs have also come on the block. Recent Pennsylvania University has come up with a drug called Torcetrapib that serves the purpose of cholesterol reduction well and inventors also boast off that the medication is free of side effects. ACAT or Acyl co A or Cholesterol acyltransferase is another new drug that is said to be equally efficient to serve the same purpose with probably no side effects.

Let's hope for many more side effect free medications to cur this menace of bad cholesterol.

10 Hair Care Basics

Every woman wants healthy hair. So, here are 10 hair care basics for maintaining lustrous tresses.

1. Educate yourself on proper hair-care. Buy relevant books, follow expert blogs and Youtubers, etc. However, if you are dealing with hair loss or thinning, make sure to consult a dermatologist at the first sign. Also, choose your hairstylist carefully. A good hair stylist will educate you on what they are doing to your hair and how to properly care for it.

2. Limit the use of Heat. The everyday use of heat appliances like curling irons and flat irons can lead to dried out hair. If your hair is severely damaged, then try not to use a lot of heat on the hair (if possible completely avoid it). This includes hot water, flat irons, hot curling irons, or hot blow dryers. How about going back to Roller Setting your hair? But instead of using the hair dryer – allow it to air dry.

3. Prevent over-processing. For touch-ups, apply relaxer to new growth only. To prevent breakage go no longer than three months between touch-ups.

4. Do regular treatments. Regular scalp massages and hot oil treatments can be effective to combat dryness and to stimulate hair follicles for regrowth. Also, do an intensive treatment once per week. Tip: Mix a Vitamin-Fortified Conditioner with a natural oil like Jamaican Black Castor oil or organic coconut oil for a deep conditioning treatment. Leave in for 15-20 minutes, then rinse and style as usual.

5. Trim ends regularly. You should get a trim every six to eight weeks to prevent split ends.

6. Rinse properly. Be sure to thoroughly wash your hair, as build up can leave a film and rob sheen.

7. Handle wet hair with care. Use a wide tooth comb to de-tangle hair, starting from the ends up to the roots.

8. Oil your scalp sparingly. Use only a dime size amount of pomade or oil on your scalp. Using more than that will clog your pores. Try Jamaican Black Castor Oil to maintain healthy scalp and hair.

9. Carefully care for your edges. Whether you have a perm, natural hair, transitioning, braids, locks or twists, take special care of your edges because they are vulnerable to breakage.

10. Wrap it up while you sleep. Use a silk or satin scarf to wrap your hair at night. Some experts even suggest sleeping with a satin pillow case just in case your scarf comes off while sleeping. This is because cotton pillow cases tend to dry the moisture out of the hair.

Why Exotic Pets Should Not Be Banned

We all know how special interest groups can blow things out of proportion – like the nonexistent “Exotic Pet Crisis.” If you listened to some animal rights groups, you’d think keeping exotic pets is cruel, dangerous, and even bordering on treason! Before you buy that agenda, consider that a junior high student once made a convincing case for banning dihydrogen monoxide: colorless, odorless, and tasteless, it kills thousands of people every year.

Most deaths are caused by inhalation, but the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide do not end there. Prolonged exposure to its solid form causes severe tissue damage. Dihydrogen monoxide is also known as hydroxl acid, is the major component of acid rain, may cause severe burns, contributes to land erosion, may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes, and has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.

This report was presented to 50 students, asking them what should be done about the chemical. 43 students favored banning it, 6 were undecided, and only one correctly recognized that ‘dihydrogen monoxide’ is actually H2O — plain old water. How gullible are you?

Banning my cat makes about as much sense as banning yours – and the results are just as heartbreaking for pet and owner. Are you ready for the truth about the “Exotic Pet Crisis?”

  • Exotic pets are not dangerous! One study showed that the risk of injury to exotic cat owners was less than the risk of injury due to a domestic dog bite. And every person who drives a motor vehicle subjects themselves and their family to a risk three times greater then does someone who owns even a large exotic cat such as a tiger.
  • Most exotic pet owners are kind, intelligent people who adore their animals and take excellent care of them. We love our pets just as you love yours.
  • Exotic animal bans result in beloved pets being confiscated, impounded, and usually killed. A lucky few live out their lives in cages under the care of strangers in zoos and sanctuaries. This is the dirty secret animal rights groups don’t want you to know. Banning does not help animals: it kills them!
  • Exotic cat ownership is already regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Department of Interior, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, CITES, the Animal Welfare Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Lacey Act, more city, county, and state regulations than you can shake a stick at, as well as existing animal welfare and public safety laws that govern both exotic and domestic animals.
  • “You can buy a tiger on the Internet for $100.00,” research-averse activists proclaim in horror. Just try to order up a tiger online, or even a serval. You won’t succeed. This urban legend has great repeatability at cocktail parties and save-the-cute-animals-from-evil-humans fundraisers, but is severely lacking in the reality department. Breeders do have web sites, but it takes much more than a click of the mouse to purchase an exotic cat.

Cycling Clothes and Cold Weather

Do you ride during the colder months? Do you have the necessary clothing for it? This could mean anything from warmer socks to a long sleeve jersey. It is not fun to ride with out the proper clothing and being cold. There are a few possibilities of how you can have warmer clothing while using what you probably already have. You can stay warm while riding by putting on a pair of sweat pants over your cycling shorts.

Make sure the sweats are not baggy. This can cause your pants to get worn in the chain and gears, if the sweats are baggy. You can also do the same for the top part of your body. To help keep your feet warm, you can get cycling shoe covers. Or you can get warmer socks. Either method you chose should keep your feet warmer.

If you do not want to wear sweats over the top of your existing cycling clothing. You can always get tights or warmers for your legs. You can also get base layers for the top or a long sleeve jersey. A little bit cheaper method is to get warmers for your arms. Wearing a long sleeve shirt under your jersey can give the same desired result. Base layers work wonders on keeping you warm while you ride.

There are also cycling jackets you can wear. Jackets sometimes do more than just block some wind. Some will actually protect you from the rain or snow too. If you do not have some of the items mentioned you can always improve with what you already possess. There is always a way if you are willing to do it. It is better to have on too many layers than not enough.

I have had the problem of not enough layers. The ride was not very pleasant and it does not end soon enough either. Do not be heard on a ride unprepared, as I have been. When you go out on the cold rides you will be glad you have on some warm clothes.

How To Keep Your Pet Rats Happy And Healthy As They Age

With pet rats, most aging symptoms are similar to those of humans. And as with people, it takes caring and patience to assist your dear rattie through her last stage of life.

The best preparation is to know what to expect. For example, old rats have the tendency to develop incontinence, urinating all over themselves. All you can really do is give them frequent baths. Otherwise, their fur will have a yellow tint and foul smell. Also, their bones and teeth can become sore; so be sure to lay down extra soft bedding and feed them soft, water-rich foods.

Putting fruits and veggies through a juicer is a great way to continue feeding them. Put the juice into their water bottle along with ice chips to keep it fresh longer. At that point, stop feeding them lab blocks.

When organizing the furniture, adapt the living environment to their abilities. Once rats get old, they are no longer able to run, climb and jump as they used to; nor are they able to recover from injuries as easily. Be sensitive to this and make their cage as safe as possible by lowering all their platforms and making their food and water available lower.

As rats age, it gets more difficult for their bodies to regulate their temperatures. That means they will be most prone to hypothermia in the winter and overheating in the summer. To keep them warm, in extremely cold weather place a heating pad or electric blanket below (not inside!) Their cage. Ice cubes and a powerful fan (placed far away) can help cool an elderly rat during a heat wave.

There are other tell-tale signs of rat-aging. Once their appetites decrease, they'll lose a lot of weight. Do not be surprised if their bones begin to show. After awhile, they will become less interested in grooming themselves. As a result, their hair will be disheveled.

It is not uncommon to see a rat that is on the brink of death frantically get up and start running and hopping around in circles. On the other hand, elderly rats frequently suffer from hind leg paralysis and spend the rest of their lives falling or dragging their hind quarters around. Occasionally, your rats will suddenly begin struggling to breathe, passing away within days or hours.

Dealing with the loss of your dear friend can be the most difficult part of being a pet rat owner. You gave all your love to your rat and took the best care of them that you possibly could … but your efforts were absolutely in vain. However, you did the best you could andave your rattie the best possible life during his short time with you.

Diabetes and Obesity – Is Sugar the Cause?

Is it possible that a natural sugar which is found in fruit could be one of the main causes of childhood obesity and of diabetes? It would probably be foolish to suggest that any one thing is the cause, but a 10 week study including 16 subjects on a strictly controlled diet, has produced evidence that fructose is at least one of the causes. The study found that fructose, a natural sugar found in small amounts in fruit, is a significant player in the problem. Fructose can be produced very cheaply from corn. As a result it is used to sweeten thousands of products such as soft drinks, cakes and pastries, cereal, yogurt and even salad dressings, to mention just a few.

Not only that but a recent study has determined that fructose, consumed in large quantities, produces a layer of fat cells around the heart, liver and certain other organs. Fructose is not digested in the way that other sugars are. It arrives undigested and intact in the liver where it results in a number of abnormal reactions including breakdown of the messages which result in the body either burning or storing fat. A molecular biologist who led this study has stated that this is the first evidence that fructose increases diabetes and heart disease.

Fructose represents 5 to 10 percent of the weight of fruit. It is produced from corn by a process of synthesis which produces a corn syrup with 55 percent fructose and 45 percent glucose. This syrup is six times sweeter than cane sugar and costs less. This high fructose corn syrup is used in the production of many food and drink products. Glucose, unlike fructose, is digested in the normal way and the study found that it did not cause these problems, in subjects who consumed glucose only, with no fructose.

Sugar is a product which the human body does not process well. We are not designed to consume the large quantities of sugar that have become a part of our modern diet. Whether that sugar be sucrose (cane sugar), fructose or glucose it is definitely advisable to keep its consumption to a minimum. It remains to be proven wherever consumption of fructose in its natural form in fruit is equally dangerous. My gut instinct tells me that fruit consumption is not only safe but is also healthy, since mankind has consumed fruits and vegetables for millions of years.

Diseases That Are Protected By Coffee

It is really surprising when a thing was considered questionable for your health actually turns out to have health benefits, normally with the condition to use it "in moderation." It has already happened with chocolate and alcohol, and now it's turn for coffee. Listed below are the diseases that are protected by coffee.

Blood pressure. It is proved from a long-term study that coffee might not increase the risk of high blood pressure over time. In fact moderate drinking for coffee would stabilize the blood pressure condition. Two cups of coffee a day is considered as moderate amount.

Cancer. Coffee may also have anti-cancer properties. During past few years, researchers had found that coffee consumers were 50% less expected to get liver cancer than compared to nondrinkers. A few studies have further found the effect of lower rates of colon, breast, and rectal cancers.

Cholesterol. Two substations in coffee – kahweol and cafestol – tend to increase cholesterol levels. Paper filters determine these substitutes, but it does not really help the many people who tend to drink non-filtered coffee drinks, such as lattes. Researchers have further found a connection between cholesterol increases and decaffeinated coffee, probably because of the kind of coffee bean used to make some sort of decaffeinated coffees.

Diabetes. Heavy coffee drinkers might be half as expected to have diabetes as light drinkers or could be nondrinkers. Coffee might enterprises of chemicals, which reduces the blood sugar. A coffee habit may also augment your resting metabolism rate that in turn could help keep diabetes at bay.

Parkinson disease. Coffee appears to defend men, but not actually women, against Parkinson's disease. One probable explanation for this could be the sex difference might be that estrogen and caffeine required the same enzymes to be metabolized, and estrogen captures those enzymes.

Further coffee benefits:

o It is a way to stop hiccups

o Reduces ulcer bacterium

o Gets you enough potassium

o Helps in sweating and heart attacks

These were some of the benefits of drinking coffee, but however, one must consult his / her doctor before the actual consumption of Coffee.

Laser Hair Removal Treatment – Skin Care After the Procedure

You might wonder if you had done proper treatment for your skin after your laser hair removal treatment. If you had applied the right moisturizers, if it is recommended to apply make-up and other stuffs that you don’t know if it would damage your treated skin. However, this article aims to present the right treatment for your skin right after your laser hair removal treatment.

Right after your laser hair removal treatment, your skin would automatically feel fluffy, painful or uncomfortable to touch, would look red and swollen. The moment you arrived home, you have to continue putting a cold compress on the treated area. This is done to numb your skin so you won’t feel any pain and it will also reduce the swelling. Aside from this, you could also put ice packs or you could use a hand towel, dipped in cold water, and apply it repeatedly on your skin. Do this for as long as necessary. Meaning, for as long as you couldn’t feel any pain anymore. Normally, it takes 2-3 hours of doing this, before the pain would subside.

Within 24 hours after your treatment, you should avoid sweating. Do not exercise or do something strenuous. It is because sweating will cause irritation to the treated skin. However, you also need to avoid using deodorant, if the treated skin is on your underarms. Deodorant might irritate your extra sensitive skin. What you need to do is to clean the area with a gentle cleanser or soap.

Applying moisturizing creams to your treated skin could also help your skin in healing itself. However, please do not use antibacterial creams since they would dry your skin and would ultimately irritate it. Moreover, within 5 days to 1 week, you can’t shave, wax, tweeze, pluck nor bleach the treated area. Your skin is too sensitive at that time for these abrasive methods, which might lead to irritation, infection and inflammation. You can only resume shaving after 1 week. But no waxing, tweezing, plucking and bleaching until you have finished all the required treatments as prescribed by your laser specialist.

One more thing, it is very important to apply sunblock on the treated skin. Protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun by using sunblocks with higher SPF, 30 or more. Do not, under any circumstances, parade into the sun without any protection. There is a high possibility of burning, swelling or infection.

If you had done everything I’ve mentioned above, then rest assured you are doing well in taking care of your skin right after a laser hair removal treatment.

When Did People Start Using Soap?

Using water as a cleaning agent has been around since the beginning of man. Not long after that, people found out that water couldn’t clean everything. In looking for ways to clean things better, someone figured out that a mixture of ashes and fats cleaned better than water alone.

The earliest origin of soap making isn’t clear. Clay tablets from as early as 2500 BC suggest soap was in use at that time, mainly as a hair styling aid and for treating wounds. Early Greeks cleaned their pots and the statues of their gods with a mixture of lye and ashes.

Cleopatra used milk, honey and essential oils in her bathing. She then scrubbed her skin with sand to cleanse it, exfoliating it as well. After oils were put on the body in ancient Rome, they were scraped off using a “strigil”, taking some of the dirt off with the oils.

The Gauls and Romans used goat’s tallow and ashes from beech trees to make soap. Roman legend says that soap got its name from Mount Sapo. Animal sacrifices were performed on this hill, and the rain washed the fats and ashes down to the clay soil along the riverbank below. Women washing clothes there discovered this mixture cleaned the clothes better than water alone.

Roman baths came into being around 312 BC using water from their aqueducts. Bathing became popular, and by the second century AD, soap was recommended for cleaning and medicinal use. An entire soap making factory was discovered when Pompeii was excavated. After the fall of Rome, bathing and using soap declined in Europe. Perhaps this contributed to the plagues of the Dark and Middle Ages?

The Order of the Bath was instituted by King Henry IV in 1399. To join this order, the knight had to venture into a tub filled with water at least once during his knighthood. Queen Elizabeth is reported to have taken a bath every three months, if she needed it or not!

Marseille, France became a prominent soap making city, due to the plentiful olive oil and vegetable ash in the area. At first soap was imported to America, but settlers soon found that they could make soap for free using the ashes from their fires and the fats from their butchered animals. This lye soap was tough on both dirt and skin.

Palmolive soap, made from palm and olive oils, was in use in the early 1900’s. In another factory, Ivory soap was born when a worker accidentally left the soap mixer running while he went to lunch; incorporating extra air into the soap and creating soap that floats. Soap companies abound around the world, and regardless of how soap first came to be, we can say with surety that it is here to stay.
