Types of Exfoliation – Its Needs and Benefits

Exfoliation is the name given to the process of removal of dead cells and surfacing of new layer of cells. It is an integral part of skin care and if applied correctly, will lead to young, glowing skin.

Need for exfoliation:

Our skin has inbuilt process of removing dead cells which are replaced by new cells. But with age this process slows down and the skin becomes dull and problematic. To regain the same shine and youthful appearance, exfoliation is a mandatory regime. If it is done on regular basis, it will improve the skin renewal process and minimize the bad effects of sun rays, dirt and dead cells on the skin.

Benefits of exfoliation:

The exfoliation process removes the grime and old dead cells from the skin. It helps in removing and preventing blackheads and whiteheads. The process declines the aging process and counters the ill effects of external factors. In the process, the blocked pores of the skin are opened allowing them to breathe.

A new layer of skin then appears which is refreshing, healthier and radiant.

Types of Exfoliation:

There can be three types of exfoliation:

Manual Exfoliation

Chemical Exfoliation

Enzyme Exfoliation

Manual Exfoliation:

It is a manual method of cleaning and scrubbing the skin. For facial, a gentle washcloth is the right thing or over the counter exfoliating scrub kit which is soft on the skin. Choose the scrub which has finer grains so that skin is not irritated or damaged.

The facial scrub can be made at home which will reveal the same effect. Oatmeal is a good substitute to exfoliate.

Those who prefer modern tools over home made tools may buy electric face brush or exfoliating gloves or exfoliating pouches which contain face cleanser.

Exfoliation of face should be done not more than twice a week. The manual exfoliation tools are suitable for normal skin. An acne prone skin may get worse if these tools are used. Also, manual tools are not suitable for sensitive skin. It is better to take a patch test before using.

Chemical Exfoliation:

The chemical skin exfoliation is suitable for acne prone skin. It can also cure the sun damaged skin. The norma-skin types need not rely on chemical exfoliation. However, the dry-skin will benefit from this type of exfoliation.

The chemical exfoliation uses acidic chemicals such as alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA) and beta hydroxyl acids (BHA) to treat the sun damaged skin, dry skin and acne skin. The acids removes the useless dead cells and leaves the skin cleaner and healthier.

These acids may be aggressive at times. Therefore the normal skin types and sensitive-skin types should give it a miss. Exfoliation, specially the chemical ones should be conducted by a dermatologist or esthetician.

Enzyme Exfoliation:

The sensitive skin types can also reap the benefits of exfoliation. The enzyme exfoliation is the right choice for such skin. Like chemical exfoliation, it does not involve scrubbing as this will worsen the skin. Here, proteolytic enzymes which are found in pineapples and papayas are utilized to break up the dead cells and impurities. The result is younger looking radiant complexion of skin.

Daily exfoliation is recommended for other body parts, the frequency of face exfoliation depends on the skin type. The dry skin must exfoliate not more than thrice a week. The normal skin and combination-skin needs exfoliation twice a week. However, the oily skin should exfoliate only once a week.

The home recipes of exfoliation like use of wet oatmeal on the skin are safe bet. But people with sensitive-skin should conduct a patch test to check out the suitability.

Learn About the Basics of Skin Allergies

Perhaps the most noticeable and annoying of all allergies is skin allergy, not just because they create maps and maps of little red blotches all over our bodies when they attack, but also because they leave marks when left untrained or if we fail to respond to them the right way, like frequent scratching.

The most common of skin allergies include eczema, contact dermatitis and uticaria, also known as hives. People usually mistaken dermatitis for eczema and assume immediately that they are one and the same. However, dermatitis is just the milder version of eczema, which is considered one of the most serious and advanced types of skin allergy.

Meanwhile, contact dermatitis, true to its name, occurs when our skin comes in contact with a certain allergen that caused the outbreak. Symptoms of skin allergy usually come out within 30 minutes after the skin has been exposed. Inflammations ensue, with levels depending on the degree of contact. They include scaling, redness and blisters.

Hives

Hives are usually harmless. They are comprised of roundish red welts that come out in groups and are normally very itchy. Their sizes also vary, with diameters ranging from several millimeters to around a few centimeters.

They are triggered by a number of factors, including insect bites, food and certain types of drugs and medicines. Hives that stay for over six weeks are commonly referred to as chronic urticaria, while those that last for less than the said period are called acute urticaria. Also, while it is said that hives are harmless, their exact cause has yet to be determined, that's why it is a little difficult to prevent.

Treatment for skin allergies

Skin allergies, although very annoying and not always preventable, can be treated. You may use topical ointments and steroids to help relieve the itchiness and the swelling, and these are available over the counter. You do not normally need a prescription to gain access to these medicaitons, but it is still always best to consult your dermatologist instead of immediately resorting to self medication.

Hydrocortisone is a known steroid medicine against skin allergy. Antihistamines also work just as well and are available both in topical (like corticosteroids) and in oral form. People who are allergic to certain types of food usually take in antihistamines before they eat offending foods so that outbreaks do not occur.

You can also ask your doctor about steroid injections, which include methylprednisolone, dexamethasone, prednisone, triamcinolone and betamethasone. Some antihistamines, however, are sleep inducers, like hydroxyzine and diphenhydramine, so you might want to steer clear of these drugs if you want to stay awake while medicated. Recommended antihistamines include Seldane, Benadryl, Atarax and Tagamet.

Almost everyone suffers from some kind of skin allergy, with varying levels. So, if you are suffering from skin allergy, you are not alone. Treatments and medications are available to combat them so you do not have to worry too much about major outbreaks. Just be sure to stay away from potential triggers and keep your medicines in hand.

The Symptoms Of Depression – What Are They?

Depression is a serious condition and is often just brushed off or ignored by people. You might not even know that you are a sufferer. The symptoms can be subtle at first but the longer you are ill the more you will see the symptoms of a depressive state.

The symptoms of depression can vary broadly. They do not always involve being sad or wepy as many people might think. Individuals differ, so some might seem weepy and others can experience psychological or intellectual changes that can affect their energy levels, thinking patterns, diet and sleep to name a few. When you are suffering from depression your life and way of living can become a nightmare.

Doctors agree that a person experiencing some or all of these symptoms almost everyday for at least two weeks are suffering from clinical depression.

  • Feelings of hopelessness.
  • Depressed mood.
  • Loss of pleasure in life.
  • Motivation decrease.
  • Negative thinking.
  • Slowed behavior.
  • Loss of interest in activities, friends or work.
  • Change in diet and eating patterns.
  • Sleeping problems.
  • Crying often.
  • Finding it difficult to concentrate.
  • Irritability.
  • Anxiousness
  • Suicidal thoughts and tendencies.
  • Difficulty making important decisions.

Being clinically depressed can affect all aspects of your life and the people who are close to you. It changes the way you function and can cause tremendous damage to your quality of life. Most clinically depressed people will not enjoy the same things that used to bring them joy or happiness.

Many sufferers will push people that love them away because they feel that they do not deserve happiness or love. This feeling that you are not worth anything will cause you to push these people away. I was a sufferer of depression and I can tell you that it is no joke and should be deal with by a professional.

I chose to stay away from the drugs and opted to treat myself through counseling sessions. I used my own minds power to help myself deal with my problems. We found the root of my depression and I can finally say that I have won the battle.

I showed many of the symptoms on that list but I continued to deny that I was depressed after all, I did not deserve help, right. Always put yourself first do not feel stupid or inadequate because you are a depressed person.

The first step is acknowledgment, it is the hardest part of the process. When you can go and look for help you can beat your depression. I never knew anything about depression until I started to do a bit of research. Doing research helped me discover why I was feeling so down and now I never have to ask the question "what is depression" ever again.

Depression Test

Many people who are suffering from depression may not even be aware of it. The chances are that if you have been feeling sad or unhappy for more than just a couple of weeks and have lost interest in most of the activities you used to enjoy the ample that your daily routines are now being affected, then you could be suffering from some form of depression.

There are many symptoms associated with depression and not everyone will experience the same ones nor with the same degree of intensity. Consequently, diagnosing and treating depression can be problematic as it is important to rule out other possible causes of the symptoms such as under medical condition, substance abuse, or normal responses to say, bereavement, that of course will result in feelings of sadness and despency but which are not considered true depression.

One way of finding out if you could be suffering from depression is to take a depression test. Depression tests are often used by health professionals in the first instance to assess whether depression is indicated, and if so, how severe the depression might be.

There are many tests available but one of the most popular is the Goldberg test.

The Goldberg Test

This test was designed by Dr Ivan Goldberg and consist of 18 questions, each of which are answered by the individual using a sliding scale of responses based on how they have felt during the previous week. Once all the questions are answered, the scores (in brackets) are added up to give a final score and an indication of whether depression is likely. This test can also be useful to check periodically to see if the symptoms of depression are improving or getting worse as any change of 5 points or more in either direction is considered to be significant.

Sliding scale of responses

Not at all (0)

The Beck Depression Inventory Test

Another popular test is the Beck Depression Inventory test often used by mental health professionals. This test is based on 21 self-reported questions that correspond closely to the symptoms of depression as outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 4th Edition. Each response is based on how the individual has felt over the previous two weeks. All of the responses to the questions are identified by a score of 0, 1, 2 or 3, which are then added together at the end to give a final score.

The answers to the questions are intended to give an indication of how a person views how they are functioning psychologically and physically, and how they appear to be coping on a daily basis. For example, responses will give an idea of:

o How sad you are feeling

o How you view the future

o If you feel like a failure

o Your level of satisfaction from activities

o If you feel guilty

o If you feel descripting of punishment

o How disappointed you are in yourself

o If you often blame yourself

o Whether you have thoughts of suicide

o How often you cry

o If you feel irritated and annoyed a lot of the time

o How much interest you have in other people and social situations

o Your ability to make decisions

o How you view yourself and your appearance

o Your ability to carry out your work

o Your sleeping patterns

o Your energy levels

o Your appetite

o Any weight fluctuations

o If you are fearful or worry about physical symptoms and health

o If you have lost interest in sex

Conclusion

It's important to remember that no test, no matter how good it is, can give you a reliable diagnosis. If you think you or someone close to you are experiencing symptoms of depression then you should seek professional advice either from a GP or other health professional for an accurate diagnosis and specific help. Your GP will be able to discuss symptoms with you in much more detail and will be able to identify other factors that might be influencing how you are feeling. Once an accurate diagnosis is made then treatment options can be discussed that will help get you back to how you used to be.

Symptoms of Anxiety And Controlling the Fear With Breathing

We all experience a sense of unease, anxiety when we are faced with a stressful situation, such as an interview; exam or if we are worried about an illness and this is totally normal. Anxiety is only a problem when it becomes excessive.

Sadly for a great number suffering from anxiety disorders they are severe, prolonged and interfere with everyday activities. Such anxieties include phobias such as agoraphobia and sudden unexpected panic and anxiety attacks.

Generalized anxiety disorder is when you get a sudden surge of fear although no danger exists, adrenalin pours in as your body preparations for action, but as no action follows and there is no way for this nervous energy to be discharged, which lead to physiological confusion , or what we know as anxiety attack symptoms.

Your heart races, your mouth is dry, dizziness, over breathing, clammy hands, a lump in the throat, and what feels like a tight band around your head. These feelings build up clinging to anything that will support your shaking legs you fear you might burst a blood vessel or drop down dead any minute.

Apart from the obvious symptoms of the anxiety attack you may also experience other psychological symptoms such as tiredness, insomnia, feeling uneasy all the time, unable to concentrate and may even think that you are going mad.

It is always wise to visit a health practitioner as sometimes anxiety disorder symptoms can be linked to a physical illness like a thyroid disorder. It may be the symptom of another mental health problem such as alcohol dependence, depression or separation anxiety in which case counseling will be beneficial. It can also be caused by substances like caffeine, and ecstasy, or if you are withdrawing from long-term use of tranquillizers.

Your physician will be able to decide what anxiety treatment is necessary and talk over any anxiety medication to be prescribed to prescribe any medicines.

When you are anxious you often do not realize that you are breathing wrong and this can be one of the main cause of the feelings of anxiety. Learning to breath correctly can change a nervous wreck into a relaxed person.

To check your breathing stand up with one hand on your stomach and the other on your chest, breathe normally and note which hand is moving. If the hand on your chest is still and the lower hand is moving then you are breathing from the bottom of your lungs and using your diaphragm correctly.

If you should not place your hands together on top of your stomach with your two middle fingers touching, and then try to breathe them apart. Practice this daily until it becomes automatic, as it is no good to think about this when you are in the middle of an anxiety attack, but practicing before hand can less its effects and may prevent it from happening.

However there is an emergency measure if you have lost control of your breathing during an attack so keep a paper bag handy. This is not as silly as it sounds, as when you exhale into a paper bag and then breathe in the same air, you correct the balance by re-breathing the carbon dioxide, which you have lost. This regulates your breathing and the panic will subside.

What Are the Effects of Insomnia? – What Happens If You Do not Get Enough Sleep?

Feeling tired is the least debilitating effect of insomnia. There are potentially far more serious opportunities that come from the continued lack of sleep. Memory loss, irritability and slowed reflexes are all common complaints. In addition, 85 percent of individuals suffering report other health problems that arise from the disorder

Memory and concentration problems.
Getting up in the morning without sufficient sleep will negatively affect your memory and cause concentration problems. Headaches and a fuzzy brain are similar complaints. Obviously these can lead to poor results at school or in the workplace. Your brain needs to rest as much as your body to reinvigorate the experiences of the previous day. If you miss out on insufficient REM dreaming than your cognitive abilities will decrease. You may forget important things, miss key moments and even the simplest things may slip your mind.

Mood swings and irritability
We all know how tough it is to get out of bed in the morning if we have not slept well. It's so easy to be angry with our friends, family and workers for no reason and to let the small thing get the better of us. It's not just trivial things either. Many sufferers report that their relationships break down because of personality changes brought on by the lack of rest and an accessibility to adjust socially. Fights and marriage stress can cause anxiety and unfortunately make the chance of insomnia even worse.

Slowed Reflexes
Insomnia does not just cause mental issues. Sleep is essential for repair of cells and body functions damaged during our day to day activities. The cost of not getting enough is a slowed response to outside stimulus, or slowed reflexes. This is potentially deadly when combined with driving cars or operating heavy machinery. Some studies have shown that poor rest is the equivalent of several alcoholic drinks before getting behind the wheel. It is a scary thought.

Poor sleep is directly linked with adverse health outcomes, memory and concentration lapses, bad moods and a short temperature and an increased risk of accident leading to injury or even death. Many medications that are used to treat the disorder can make things even worse. Do not underestimate the negative effects of insomnia.

Skin Care Tips for Black Men

Pseudofolliculitis barbae, more known to us brothas as, "razor bumps", arise on the faces of men with coarse, wiry, curly hair. Around fifty and eighty percent of Black men live with the issue of ingrown hairs and razor bumps, every day.

Razor bumps appear when beard hairs, more often around the neck area, curl as they grow and burrow into the skin adjacent to the hair follicle. Shaving sharpens the hair ends, making it easier for them to penetrate the skin.

Razor bumps itch, burn, can cause scarring, and make shaving virtually impossible. Many Black men have resisted to depilatory creams which seem to work a great deal better than blades. But, some depilatories, if not used correctly, may irritate the skin.

Some creams are able to help for some time, but sooner or later side effects for long term use catch up.

How Ingrown hairs begin

Both sexes suffer from ingrown hairs. But men tend to undergo the most because of the coarseness, or thickness of the hair follicles on the face and neck. Ingrown hairs build after the hair has been cut or otherwise removed below the skin surface. As your hair grows, it curls over inside the follicle and does not make it to the surface. The result is an unsightly, "bump" on the skin.

A few razor bumps moreover form when a growing hair exits the follicle and bends back towards the skin surface. When these sharp, shaved edges of coarse hair reach the skin surface, they burrow back into the skin producing puffy, pimple like bumps to appear.

Solving Ingrown Hairs

A good number of men have found that the only solution to the dilema is tweezers. Most of us know it is not the best sensation, but african american men have not found a better solution.

Below are 8 shaving tips that may help ease some of the pain and more importantly, save your face:

Using a shaking lotion after shaving should less the appearance of redness. This goes for the ladies too. You can use this technique for legs, bikini lines and underarms.

Be sure to always use a clean blade when shaving with a razor. This can be properly achieved by only using new blades and throwing away ones that have been previously used three or more times.

For those of you who use electric shavers, remember to replace the rotary blades or foil after a couple of months. Of course if you're required to shave daily, you may have to replace them sooner. This can be a headache since many rotary blade components are priced more than half of what the whole razor is worth.

While shaving with a handheld razor, always shave in the direction of hair growth. The majority of men's face hair slant downward, so be sure to shave in that direction. This is also critical around the neck areas since shaving against the grain is one of the main causes of pointy, sharp hairs that can burrow back into the skin.

Never stretch your skin while shaving. Pulling your shoulders, chin or neck while shaving in order to get a closer shave, may cause darkness and discoloration of underlying skin tissue. This is very true for light and fair-skinned Black men who have dark, coarse hair.

Watch what you eat. Many skin irritations may subside if certain foods are avoided. Fatty foods, foods containing oils, cholesterol and sodium, can make your skin more propense to damage when shaving.

Depilatories got the work done fast, but its not a dream come true. Like razors, it can leave you redness and some irritation. Remember never to use an alcohol based cream after using a depilatory. Without you want to feel like your face is on fire.

Grow a beard. This may not be the right solution for those required to shave daily, such as the military and other business professions. But if you can handle this style, go for it! You will totally eliminate the razor bump worries and ingrown hair issues. Even better, you can get rid of those sharp blades!

Why STD Testing Is So Important

Most of us strive to meet that one special and all-important person that we can fall in love with and happily spend the rest of lives with. This is a fact for many of us, but it does not negate the reality that we all have pasts. Our pasts have more times that not included some form of sexual activity. To meet this one special person we long for, and to begin this relationship correctly, one should be honest and responsible. It is for this reason, among many others, that it is important for us to receive STD testing.

There is no way that we could hope to be loved and trusted by that person we long to meet if-when we do-we carelessly infect them with a sexually transmitted disease. It is not fair to think that at the beginning stages of a new relationship we should be forgiven for doing something as potentially harmful as giving them an STD. You would not want it done to you and you should know that it is easily avoidable by making an appointment with a board-certified specialist and getting your STD testing completed. Simply stated, doing this is very important for your future relationships-and your future health.

STDs are notorious lingerie, meaning that once infected there is the strong possibility that you will not experience the symptoms that can alert you to the dangers that exist. They hibernate and sit and wait, building inside you until you become very sick and you have passed the diseases onto others-most likely the last person in the world you would want to do this type of thing to. This is why STD testing should be part of everyone's general health care.

Getting a full panel of STD tests is painless and easier than you could imagine. One should do the research necessary and book their appointment as soon as possible. After all, you never know when that special person will enter your life. Receiving regular STD testing assures you that whenever you meet your soul mate you will be healthy enough to embark on your new relationship with the full confidence that you will never harm your significant other through the neglecting of your health.

A Broken Heart Can Be Dangerous to Your Health

Did you know that your heart is a muscle, the Cardiac Muscle? All of the muscles in your body require movement or their tone and ability to perform their assigned tasks will dwindle and ever atrophy. Exercise will help to strengthen your heart by making it pump more efficiently, improving the flow of blood in and out of your heart and through your body. Exercise will also improve your body's ability to handle stress.

Did you know that lack of physical exercise can actually increase your risk of heart disease? Lack of physical exercise is also related to many chronic and even debilitating diseases. Obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure may actually be preceded or at least minimized with an adequate amount of daily or weekly exercise.

Did you know that the best type of exercise for your heart is regular aerobic exercise? Activities involving continuous movement, such as dancing, skating, bicycling, swimming, running, jogging and even walking, can build up your endurance and improve the functioning of your heart as well as your breathing capacity.

Resistive exercises, especially utilizing free weights or weight bearing machines, help you develop muscle tone and stronger muscles in your body body and especially in your heart. A lifestyle that includes a variety of physical activities, such as gardening, housework and specific workout routines, are essential for maintaining good health throughout the years.

At this point, you may be saying to yourself, "I know all that. I've heard this before." Yes, we have all been told that exercise is important for all of us to maintain good health, regardless of our age and physical condition. However, there may be something about our magnificent hearts that you do not know. This important awareness could literally save your life.

I am talking about Broken Heart Syndrome. Most of us, at one time in our life, may have suffered from an undesired love, an unexpected and unwanted breakup or the sudden loss of someone we deeply loved. Any one of us could suffer from Broken Heart Syndrome. I am not talking about just an emotional breakdown.

Doctors have actually discovered that a broken heart can be dangerous for your health. The condition was originally called takotsubo, cardiomyopathy. Now it is often called stress cardiomyopathy, stress-induced cardiomyopathy or apical balloon syndrome. This is a temporary heart condition bought on by an emotionally painful and stressful situation, such as the loss of a loved one or a severe breakup.

People with broken heart syndrome may feel severe chest pain and think they are having a heart attack. What is actually happening is an intense increase in stress hormones causing your heart to temporarily enlarge (balloon) which causes it from pumping well. Sometimes, the stress of a broken heart can trigger a real heart attack if your blood vessels have been building up plaque and you did not know it.

Broken heart syndrome is treatable and the condition usually is eliminated in about a week. If not, there may have been an underlining heart condition that has surfaced because of the heartbreak. So the emotional pain may actually become a gift that saves your life.

Why You Should Learn New Skills

I posted an article titled " How GOOD GRADES are going to make you Rich in business " If you have not read it you can search this site or search for it.

Now that main idea I got from those books were skills. I said before as reported by the US Department of Labor, the average person changes their career more than three times in their working life. Why do people go through career changes? Many people wake one day, look at their life and ask; is this all I was put on Earth to do?

I really do not like that job. I can not even stand my boss. I'm bored with this job. I just finished with my college degree and I want my qualifications to be put to use. I want to do something meaningful in my life to make a difference in other people's lives.

You are probably saying, what does that have to do with me? It has a lot to do with you. Even though you may not consider yourself to be average, you may know someone that is. Here are some facts the US Department of Labor reports the average salary in the nation is $ 39,190 per year.

Now you're probably saying if you make more than $ 40,000 per year, I am above average Bryan! Are you really? Do you have enough money to go on a vacation right now with all your bills paid for the next few months? Without picking up a few hours at your JOB (Just Over Broke).

I found that transferable skills could have been used in more than one industry / career. Examples of transferable skills are communication and presentation skills. Stop thinking about what that particular industry wants, think about what you want. Yes it's true you're a product of your thinking.

So learning new skills can help advance your career in anything your doing especially in the home business industry. Sharing your new skills with friends could get you new customer or business partner. To help you learn new skills and identify your strengths you posses, you will need a mentor / advisor to guide you to success.

Before you decide to contact mentor / advisor write down, what you like and dislike about what you have been doing? Goals you achieved and did not achieve.

How to Get a Big Chest Quickly – Most Effective Ways For a Massive Chest

Do you want a big chest? Maybe you want big oblique, biceps, triceps, and chest – you want the whole thing. Whatever you choose to do, there are specific things that you are going to have to do in order to lift successfully and to quickly see the results that you are absolutely searching for!

Okay, so you want to get a big chest rather quickly, right? Well, there are specific things that you can do, we are going to list a couple of exercises that will target your chest area and what else you can do to maximize and multiply these results dramatically!

Exercise # 1 – This is the first exercise that you are trying to accomplish and want to do rather quickly. You know it as the flat bench press. Yes, this gets your chest extremely big, but you do not want to do it every single day – 2 to 3 times a week is decent enough, anything and you could potentially potentially hurting yourself!

You want to find out what your max bench is by doing a light rep of 8, 6, 4 & 2. You want to increase the weight for every set of reps, and have the set of 1 being your max rep. Now once you find out what your max really is (having spotters in this whole process of course), you want to develop a weight room strategy, sometimes finish at 65% of your max, other times finish 85% – you want to switch up the pace.

You can do the same thing with incline as well.

Exercise # 2 – This is called the dumbbell fly work out. This is critical for a big chest. You want to find a flat bench and put a dumbbell in each hand. Now you want to straighten the arms a lot, but keep a slight bend in them.

Your arms should almost parallel to the ground. Now you want to take your arms and put them together in the air, so your arms should almost completely extend in front of you. It should be like a forward clapping motion in a way, except your back is on the bench.

Joint Ventures – How Much to Charge

How much should you make from a Joint Venture? 10%? 20%? 50%? Should it be of the net or gross profit or off the top? How do you decide? This is an important consideration, especially for people who are used to paying peanuts and those who are used to accepting a few crumbs. Entrepreneurs who understand business and profit are more likely to pay and demand reasonable responsibilities.

For example, when people attend a DollarMakers Joint Venture Broker Bootcamp, I pay the referring Members Up to 50% in agreements! My cost of putting an extra chair into a Bootcamp and a few extra cups of coffee and donuts, plus a workbook, is negligible. I can afford to be generous. My DollarMakers Joint Venture Forum Members earn thousands in contracts every month. But if I was selling computer hardware, with a profit of around 6%, I could afford to pay such a generous commission. Large profit margins demand high awards; real business people understand that. And there are other ways to reciprocate, other than financially – but that's a subject for another newsletter or the Bootcamp.

A realtor approached me with the typical offer: "Send me a buyer or a seller and I will pay you $ 75 for a completed sale." So you get $ 7,000 and you expect me to accept $ 75? Are you kidding me? I'll take 50% of the realtor's commission or no deal. Am I being greedy? No – I pay 50% and so can they. If you do not ask, you will not get. Desperate realtors will not agree to this, but the smart realtor who has built in multiple Joint Venture back end sales into every transaction will jump at the opportunity. 50% of something is better than 100% of nothing. It's business they would never have had. When you show them how much business that one deal can generate over the years and the Marginal Net Worth of a customer, they might see the light. If they do not, send them on a Joint Venture Bootcamp!

Most entrepreneurs do not understand their acquisition cost, attrition rate, profit margins, back end value or Joint Ventures. That's why they feel they have to grab every up front cent they can. When they understand the big picture and they want to create increasing, multiple streams of passive income, they will become generous in their referral fees and commissions. I personally do not accept anything less than 20%, but it all depends on the big picture, margins, reciprocal consideration and value. Remember the big picture and demand to be paid a fair amount or walk away. There are many opportunities out there but very few people who understand Joint Ventures , so you can call the shots.

FDA Clearance Received for First Cervical Artificial Disc

Chicago, Illinois (EzineArticles.com) September 20, 2007 – People who have suffered for years from degenerative discs in their neck now have an option that may tie the pain in their neck and arm, allow quick recovery and enable them to lead active and productive lives. On July 17, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared the Prestige ST Cervical Disc System.

Used extensively in Europe, FDA clearance of the Prestige disc from Medtronic follows a unanimous recommendation for approval from the FDA advisory board. The artificial disc for the cervical (neck) region is expected to impact more than 200,000 Americans who suffer from degenerative disc disease.

Currently, the most common treatment for patients with degenerative discs in the cervical spine is spinal fusion. In this procedure a surgeon removes the damaged disc then implants a bone graft and metal plate to fuse the vertebrae together. During artificial disc replacement surgery, the damaged disc is removed and replaced with an artificial disc, a stainless-steel device with a ball-in-trough design intended to allow for replication of normal motion. The disc stands in place with bone screws. The hospital stay for this procedure is approximately 1-2 days. Patients can begin rehabilitation and return to daily activities soon after surgery. In fact, patients receiving the Prestige ST artificial disc returned to work in 45 days, 16 days earlier than the fusion patients.

"Compared to spinal fusion, this surgery allows patients to maintain normal neck motion, and study has shown a lower rate of additional surgery for degeneration of adjunct segments," says Noam Stadlan, MD, CINN neurosurgeon (CINN.org). "Unlike with fusion, patients who've received the disc do not have to bother with a hard collar following surgery."

"Study results show that artificial cervical disc patients regaining function faster, and have a higher rate of neurological success as measured by muscle tone, strength, sensation, as well as responsiveness of reflexes than those undergo spinal fusion," says Dr. Dean Karahalios, CINN neurosurgeon. "Furthermore, the study demonstrated that at two year follow-up the overall success rate for the artificial disc group was 79.3% compared to the fusion group at 67.8% These are reasons sufficient for potential candidates to consider the option of an artificial disc . "

The Chicago Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroresearch is one of the nation's leading organizations for the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of people with brain and spinal disorders. Originally founded in 1987, CINN is one of the Midwest's largest teams of neurosurgeons, physiatrists, and neurologists known for their pioneering treatments in minimally invasive techniques. Through a network of seven hospitals throughout Chicagoland, CINN is a market leader in treating patients with brain tumors and spinal disorders.

Just What Is A Canker Sore?

The Aphthous minor ulcer, commonly known as a "canker sore", has been the focus of study and research for many years. Basically, it is a chronic, inflammatory disease characterized by a painful, oral ulcer that occurs with varying frequency. Here is the term "Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis" (RAS).

Categorized as an idiopathic (origin unknown) disease, aphthous minor ulcers are frequently misdiagnosed, treated incorrectly or simply ignored. They are inflammatory lesions of the mucous membrane of the oral cavity which may include the cheeks, gums, tongue, lips, roof and floor of the mouth.

Although they have been studied and researched for many years, they are one of the most common, persistent and most annoying dental lesions of the mouth!

Manifestations of the disease can range from mild to severe and in some extreme cases, may hinder a person's ability to ingest foods, thereby making that person susceptible to possible malnutrition.

Although the cause is unknown, several causative factors are suspected including trauma, genetics, stress, nutritional deficiencies, diet, hormonal changes and immunological disorders.

Because the specific cause has not yet been determined, it has been difficult to find a definitive cure. Consequently, current recommended treatments are aimed towards alleviating the symptoms until they complete their cycle.

Some current treatment options include topical agents, systemic and topical steroids, corticosteroids, cauterization, antibiotics, mouth rinse containing active enzymes, laser treatments and any combination therapy.

Because most of these types of lesions are located in very inconspicuous areas of he mouth, it is very difficult and somewhat challenging to apply any topical agents that have been suggested.

The most common of aphthous stomatic ulcers (minor forms), usually occur in about 85 to 95% of all RAS lesions. They seem to be more prevalent in the female population during ovulation and menstruation cycles. They have about a 7 to 14 day cycle and hardly ever leave a scar.

A major aphthous form, usually appears with more than one, which accounts for 10 to 15% of all RAS cases. Obviously, more pain is associated with this type and their duration may last 6 or more weeks.

The third and most uncommon type of aphthous lesion is called a Herpertiform ulcer which accounts for only 5-10% of the cases reported. They differ from the simple and major forms of aphthous lesions because they can occur on both keratinized and non-keratinized tissue.

Overall, the majority of aphthous stomatic lesions effect an estimated 15-20% of the world population. One should be aware that an aphthous lesion can result, following dental treatment.

Some dental procedures can be traumatic to the tissue. For example, a dental needle injection, incidental bite on the lip or inner cheek or trauma from a toothbrush bristle or ingestion of a sharp food like a piece of very strong cheese.

That said however, authorities are in agreement that aphthous ulcers do not represent acute infections and are not considered contagious.

You should also be aware that aphthous lesions of the herpetic variety, can not be treated with antibiotics. Why? Herpetic lesions are viral in nature and are not susceptible to antibiotic therapy!

If you are a person who is susceptible to aphthous ulcers, let your dentist know it. He or she may be able to take the necessary precautions to help reduce the effect of dental trauma during dental procedures.

Aphthous minor ulcers are frequently misdiagnosed, treated incorrectly or simply ignored. They are inflammatory lesions of the mucous membrane of the oral cavity which may include the cheeks, gums, tongue, lips, roof and floor of the mouth.

The lesion is usually quite painful in the beginning and associated with redness, some swelling and in the latter stages, a whitish ulceration. It usually appears singularly, but can appear in clusters as well, but this is less common ……… Once the white lesion appears, there is much less pain to endure.

Initially, it is very sensitive to touch and hot spicy foods. Manifestations of the disease can range from mild to severe and in some extreme cases, may hinder a person's ability to ingest foods, thereby making that person susceptible to possible malnutrition.

Several causative factors are suspected, including trauma, genetics, stress, nutritional deficiencies, diet, hormonal changes and immunological disorders.

Primary care physicians and dentists should be aware and familiar with the management of aphthous lesions and be able to offer the therapeutic options that will meet their patient's needs.
