The risk of CVD increases with the number of cigarettes smoked per day as well as the numbers of years they were smoked. Smoking cigarettes with lower levels of tar or nicotine does not reduce the risk for cardiovascular disease.

Avoid second hand smoke – People are more likely to develop heart disease if exposed to second-hand smoke at home or work. After you’ve sent out an information package, either in the mail or by e-mail, the old traditional approach to following up is to make the cold call and try to move the process forward into a sale. We’re trained to say things like:

o “I’m just calling to follow up on the information we sent you. If I’ve answered all your questions, how about if we set up a “next step”?

o “Has anything changed on your end since the last time we discussed this?”

This kind of language communicates quite clearly that you’re hoping the potential client is going to buy your solution, or at least to move things forward, right?

How Many Crowns Do You Have In Your Mouth? Most People Have 32

The portion of our teeth that extends through the gums is called the crown of the tooth or the natural clinical crown. Often people confuse the natural crown with an artificial crown or cap. Technically, most people have 32 crowns in their mouth.

When most people talk about crowns, they mean an artificial crown. When a natural tooth is badly decayed, is broken or cracked, or has been filled and re-filled multiple times with frequent failure, your dentist may recommend a crown. In this case, the crown is an artificial covering over our natural crown. The decay is removed, and the remaining natural crown is reduced in size to make room for the new artificial crown. For most teeth a local dental anesthetic is used to make the procedure very comfortable and pain free.

Often there is too much tooth that is missing from the original decay or fracture. The new crown needs a firm, solid foundation to rest upon so your dentist may place a build up first. The build up is a restorative material that reshapes the remaining tooth for ideal contours, shape and size so the new crown can fit ideally over the remaining tooth and build up. The build up material is often composite which is bonded to the tooth.

Traditionally after the tooth as been prepared, an impression or model of the area is taken and is sent to a dental lab where the new crown in fabricated. The crown can be made of any combination of base metals (nickel), gold, palladium and porcelain. While less expensive, crown made of base metals are not recommended. One main clinical advantage of the all porcelain crown is that x-ray will go through the crown reveling any future decay. All metal or porcelain fused to metal crowns block the x-rays, often masking hidden decay.

A lab made crown can sometimes take several weeks to make. During that time a temporary plastic crown covers the prepared tooth. This is cemented in place using a temporary cement to facilitate easy removal when the permanent crown is ready. Unfortunately often the temporary crown comes off during the waiting period causing discomfort and requiring a return visit to the dentist to re-cement. This can be especially bothersome and embarrassing if it is a front tooth getting a new crown or a veneer.

New dental technology uses CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing) to eliminate these inconveniences. After the tooth is prepared for the crown using traditional methods, a high quality impression is taken of the prepared tooth and the adjacent teeth in the arch. An impression of the relationship between the upper and lower teeth in that arch is also taken.

At this point the patient can return to work, home, run errands or relax in the dental chair while the new crown is made. Using lower power lasers, the details of the prepared tooth, the adjacent teeth and the opposing teeth are scanned into the specialized computer design center. Specialized proprietary software combine the digital scans with data about each tooth is shaped and sized to create a near ideal new crown. Using the mouse and specialized software tools, the new crown is made to be the perfect, ideal replacement crown for the damaged natural crown.

This data is transferred digitally to the 3D milling station where a solid block of porcelain is cut away leaving the ideal replacement crown ready to be cemented or bonded to the prepared tooth all in the same day.

Dog Training Using Electronic Collars

If you are having trouble training your dog using conventional positive feedback methods, you may want to consider using an electronic dog training collar. The first electronic dog training collars came out about 20 or 30 years ago. They were too powerful to be used on smaller dogs and didn’t have shock level adjustments. Professionals used them to train hunting dogs, for the most part. But modern electronic collars offer much better control and safety. Provided they are used properly, modern electronic dog training collars can be used effectively on almost any dog. There are two basic varieties of modern electronic dog training collars; the bark collar and the beeper collar.

A bark collar, as the name implies, is used to control your dogs’ barking. The idea is if your dog starts barking, the collar will trigger an electrical shock through the collar to your dogs’ neck. Hopefully this stops the barking. The collar works automatically, whether you are there or not, so you can be confident your dogs barking is being controlled all the time, night or day. Another advantage with this type of collar is the behavior feedback to your dog is immediate. It is not unusual for a dog owner to come home from work and find the neighbors up in arms about the dog’s barking. But without a bark collar it would be too late to teach your dog that what he did is wrong.

Your dog won’t be able to associate your anger with the barking he did 3 or 4 hours ago. For the most part, your dog can wear a bark dog training collar all the time. You still have to take the time to recharge the battery in the shock unit, but you pretty much have total 24-hour-a-day control on your dogs barking. Bark collars are generally the least expensive type of electronic dog training collars. Except for the battery charger, everything is all in one unit. The microphone to pick up barking noises from your dog and the shock box with level adjustment are both attached directly to the collar. The electrical shock is delivered to your dogs’ neck through a pair of metal electrodes that are on the inside of the collar. You can usually get electrodes in several different lengths to best suit the thickness of your dog’s fur.

Beeper collars are manually controlled using a remote transmitter. They are generally more expensive and sophisticated compared to bark collars because they include a separate, hand held radio transmitter that sends a signal to a radio receiver on the dog training collar. They have the advantage of allowing you to control more than just your dog’s barking. If, for example, your dog jumps up on people this type collar may be the perfect solution to let your dog know about his bad behavior. Of course, the disadvantage with this collar is you have to be there with the transmitter in your hand at all times and push the button at the right time.

Of course a big danger when using an electronic dog training collar is setting the shock level too high. You want to get your dogs attention with the shock and control their behavior. But clearly you don’t want your dog in excruciating pain every time the collar is triggered. It is important to use the lowest possible shock setting that gets the job done. If your dog is yelping in pain, or panics when the shock collar triggers, then the setting is obviously too high and needs to be lowered.

It never ceases to amaze me how much we limit our potential, by using useless information and programming from our past.

We all think that someone else has a special gift that we were somehow not given and that to become successful is something that happens to others and not us.

My belief is that 'We all have greatness in us, we just sometimes forget where we put it' When you take the life of any successful person and trace it back to the start, you will find in every case, we all started exactly the same.

We arrived as a baby with the program of success firmly embedded in our mind. Our formative years then determines what we take on board and what we believe. I sometimes think that being too educated is a barrier to earning any real money. Most successful entrepreneurs come from quite normal, even humble backgrounds. It sees over analytical situations is the greatest hurdle to actually achieving anything. Ever heard the phrase 'analysis leading to paralysis'?

What they have that is different to most people is the fact that they have a belief in their ability and they do not try to solve problems that do not exist. It is the largest cause of failure trying to work out how things are going to work out and then try to resolve those situations that are not even real. That is where fear sets in because the brain is confused.

Can you imagine Sir Edmund Hilary standing at the foot of Everest and working out exactly what was going to happen and trying to work out how he would deal with things that only existed in his mind. What the brain does have a problem with because is trying to solve imaginary situations. It can not find a solution, because there is no problem. That is what I call circular thought.

What's Your Poison? How Your Choice of Beverage is Affecting Your Health

Most people do not consume adequate water and do not meet the minimum daily recommendation of 6-8 glasses. Everyone has unique water requirements and the optimal intake may vary from day to day.

Water requirements are increased in hot weather, with physical exertion, and with a high consumption of meat, eggs or salty food. Less water may be needed if the diet contains a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables and in cold, damp climates.

It is essential that water intake consists of purified water as fluoride, chloride and other chemicals and microorganisms present in municipal tap water can adversely affect health.

Beverages containing caffeine have a diuretic action and predispose to dehydration. Caffeine has also been associated with a range of adverse health effects including stomach ulcers, heart and blood pressure disorders, cancer and thyroid / adrenal dysfunction.

Coffee has been linked to pancreatic cancer when consumed in excess of two cups daily and it also increases homocysteine ​​which results in damage to the blood vessel linings. Coffee does not have any significant nutritional value. Coffee also damages the lining of the small intestines which impairs absorption of nutrients.

Tea has similar effects as coffee although generally milder. Tea does have some therapeutic benefits, especially green tea which contains antioxidant polyphenols. Tea also has an antiviral effect.

Carbonated drinks and sodas contain large quantities of sugar or artificial sweeteners and are detrimental to good health. Additionally cola drinks contain phosphoric acid which reduces bone density. These beverages have no nutritional value.

Fruit juices contain a high degree of natural sugars and when consumed in excess can contribute to blood sugar dysregulation, candidiasis and digestive weakness. In small amounts and when freshly produced they can be a valuable source of nutrients and can help to promote detoxification.

Alcohol is dehydrating, disruptions blood sugar regulation and can cause damage to the liver, cardiovascular system and nervous system. Red wine is claimed to be of benefit to health due to the antioxidants it contains, however these can be obtained from other sources to avoid the negative effects of alcohol.

Terry Nappies VS Rashes

Just a few weeks ago, my brother, his wife and three kids came over to visit. Since it's been a while since my parents saw my nephews, their visit changed the mood at home and made the ambiance much brighter. That's what these kids can do at our house. That is until night comes and the youngest of the three, who's only eight months old would start crying and screaming for no apparent reason.

They stayed over for three days and two nights. During the first night, my youngest nephew, Jeremy was crying non-stop. He woke everyone in the house because of it. We were sure that he was not hungry since he just finished three bottles of milk before going to bed. We checked his diapers and found that he was already wet thirty minutes after going to bed.

But even after he got his diapers changed, he was still crying a lot. We just could not figure it out until we noticed him squirming and trying to pull his disposable diapers off. That's when my sister-in-law, who was a nurse, noticed that he had rashes on his bum.

She was thinking that maybe it has something to do with the change of climate. My brother and his family lives in a reliably cooler area while we prefer the warmer climates. Our assumption was that the kid started sweating in his diapers since it was made latex and was not as breathable as cotton or terry nappies.

What my sister-in-law did was take the disposable diapers off and replaced it with terry nappies. It was a lot more comfortable and breathable so hopefully it would make the child feel a lot better. Well, it did help a bit.

Jeremy reduced his squirming significantly and stopped crying for a bit. It did not get rid of the rashes right away but it did help quiet him down a bit. My brother said that the rashes might stay for a few more days after they got back home but for now, baby powder and more comfortable clothing should do the trick.
