Pain Interferes With Listening

Legitimate Reasons for Parent-Child Conflict –

1. Pain Interferes With Listening: When a kid seems insensitive or selfish, it is because he is in too much emotional pain to be able to consider the parent. Pain interferes with listening and with understanding where the parent is coming from. This is particularly hard to understand when the kid hides his pain with rage or with the “silent-treatment.”

When counseling families, I always here the parent say, “My child doesn’t listen …he needs to listen.” Then the kid says about the parent, “My mom doesn’t listen to me either.” So, nobody is listening, and here’s why:

Let’s say you and I were on a construction site, and I had just fallen off the roof and broke my shoulder – and at about the same time, you chopped your thumb off at the band saw. Then you come to me for some support — you need help because you are bleeding to death. But guess what? Unfortunately I’m in too much of my own pain to consider your pain. Not because I’m being selfish or insensitive – I’m simply not able to help you now that I have fractured shoulder.

If I hadn’t just fallen 10 feet onto hard ground, I would find you thumb, put you in my pickup truck, and we would go to the hospital in hopes that they could sow your thumb back on. But given my current state, I CAN”T HELP YOU. Sorry!

This is exactly what’s going on in the home where parent-child conflict has gone on for many months, if not years. Parent and child are in so much of their own individual ’emotional pain’ that they are literally unable to consider the other person’s pain. So mom thinks that her child is selfish and insensitive …the daughter/son thinks that mom doesn’t care …and all this is going on because Pain Interferes With Listening.

Here are some more legitimate reasons for parent-child conflict –

2. Parent and kid get defensive when talking to one another because there is an emotional link between the two. Think about it. When you don’t care about someone (e.g., Joe Blow), it doesn’t matter much what that person says or does. But when you love and care for someone — and when you want that person to love and respect you — it hurts when they do unloving, uncaring things. And that hurt comes out as anger and conflict.

3. How many times has your out-of-control kid called you a “B”? Strong-willed kids hate when their parent nags, and they try to get the parent to stop nagging by getting angry at the parent and calling here a “B” in order to create distance. But nagging equals importance. The parent nags because her kid is important, and because she doesn’t want her kid to destroy the relationship. Unfortunately, the kid doesn’t know this and views “nagging” as criticism and harassment. As a result, the parent’s good message gets lost.

4. Parents are freaked-out by the fact that they are losing control of their kid’s behavior. And this fear can come out as anger and rage directed toward the out-of-control kid — more conflict.

5. Sometimes family members behave in manipulative, hurtful ways not because they think this will change the other person’s behavior, but because they honestly feel they are doing the best they can given the circumstances.

6. Everybody in the family thinks they’re doing right. If we think others do bad things because they have evil intentions, we may give up trying to influence them, become afraid of them, get angry with them,

seek revenge, etc. Family members aren’t “bad,” they’re just desperate to find a solution to the family-problems and haven’t found one yet.

7. Family members are sharing a common experience (e.g., hurt, fear), but are expressing their emotions in different, and sometimes strange ways (e.g., dad has an intimate relationship with the computer, mom sleeps a lot, kid #1 stays away from home all the time, kid #2 eats too much and has a weight problem, kid #3 fails in school and starts smoking pot) — more stress, more conflict.

Can Tea Strengthens Your Bones?

It has long been said that caffeine is not good for building strong bones. In fact, drinking more than three caffeine benefits a day is listed as a risk factor for developing Osteoporosis (porous bone).

But a study reported in "The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition" indicates that the tea may be helpful for keeping bones strong. A study done at the University of Cambridge in England examined the tea drinking habits and bone densities of over 1200 British women age 65 – 75. The researchers found that "tea drinkers" had stronger bones than "non-tea drinkers."

The tea-drinkers in the study had a 5 percent higher mean bone-mineral density than non-tea-drinkers. This could mean a 10 percent to 15 percent decline in fracture risk! These results are very different from those found among coffee drinkers.

The researchers said that despite antioxidants in tea are key players or it may be the flouride found in tea. Flouride has a positive effect on bone.

Researchers from National Cheng Kung University Hospital in Taiwan also found tea to have beneficial effects on bone. The survey 1,037 men and women age 30 and older who had bone density tests about their tea drinking habits. Most of the habitual tea drinkers consumed green or oolong tea.

Those who had been drinking tea for at least 6 -10 years had a hip-bone density 2.3 percent higher than in non-habitual tea drinkers and those who drank tea regularly for more than 10 years
had a hip-bone density was 6.2 percent higher than in non-habitual tea drinkers.

Since Asian tea drinkers do not use milk in their tea, these results can not be attributed to any calcium found in milk. So, tea drinking may be a pleasant and easy means of strengthening your bones.

Understanding How Acupuncture Can Heal Your Brain and Quantum Brain Healing

Understanding acupuncture and how it can improve your brain health is key to preventing death or damage to brain cells. Acupuncture can stop pain, balance neurotransmitters to end depression and mood disorders, and reduce inflammation. There is current research which demonstrates the ability of acupuncture to inhibit death of neurons in the hippocampus and cerebral cortex. Acupuncture is clearly able to alter the levels of neurotransmitters in the brain. Scalp, auricular, body and laser acupuncture treatment can reduce ischemia-induced apoptosis and is a therapy for recovery from ischemic cerebral injury and many other brain injuries or diseases. Scalp or auricular acupuncture are great to heal the brain and often used in Quantum Brain Healing.

This can be further enhanced with the addition of individual herbs or herbal formulas. It is extremely important to add single herbs one at a time to your regimen so that it is possible to isolate any herb which works extremely well or has an undesired impact. There can be interaction between herbs and nutritional supplements so that their effect is potentiated.

Scalp acupuncture is a specialized form of acupuncture which occurs on the head. The head has many acupuncture points which are located on the stomach, urinary bladder, gallbladder, triple burner and Du meridians Scalp acupuncture differs from traditional body style acupuncture. There are zones which are identified for treating sensory, motor, and memory. Scalp acupuncture is extremely effective for motor and sensory brain dysfunctions including multiple sclerosis, Bell’s palsy, peripheral neuropathy, migraine headache. Scalp acupuncture often utilizes a slightly thicker diameter needle. Electro-stimulation can be incorporated into scalp acupuncture for treatment of difficult cases.

Scientists from University College London, Southampton University and the University of York, discovered that superficial acupuncture needling triggered activation of the motor areas of the cortex and deep acupuncture needling activated the limbic system and resulted in deactivation of the perception of pain. Acupuncture activates the part of the brain which is involved in the production of natural opiates. Opiates are the body’s own substance that relieves pain.Acupuncture also activates the insular in the cerebral cortex area of the brain and is involved in pain control. The brain has several cortical areas which are involved in pain processing. They include the primary somatosensory cortex, the secondary somatosensory cortex, the insula, the anterior cingulate, and the prefrontal cortex, as well as the hypothalamus and periaqueductal gray (PAG). Other brain areas involved in pain are prefrontal inferior parietal and premotor cortices, thalamus insula, primary somatosensory cortex, and the ipsilateral perigenual cingulate cortex. Stimulation of points with electroacupuncture significantly activated the hypothalamus, primary somatosensory motor cortex, and rostral anterior cingulate cortex. The hypothalamus and limbic system modulated the effects of electroacupuncture as an analgesic in a fairly non-specific manner.

Electro-acupuncture can use different frequencies to activate endogenous opioids in the spinal cord and central nervous system. Electric stimulation at a frequency of 2 Hz has been used to increase opioid production. Acupuncture can prevent or reduce post stroke brain function deterioration in the hippocampus. Myocardial turnover of endogenous opioids and calcitonin-gene-related peptide in the human heart and the effects of spinal cord stimulation on pacing-induced angina pectoris. Acupuncture is successfully used to treat convulsions and epileptic seizures. The anticonvulsant effect of acupuncture might be related to the decrease of neuronal nitric oxide synthases.

Recent studies show that specific areas of brain are activated or deactivated when specific traditional Chinese acupuncture points are needled. The acupuncture effect is highly predictable. Acupuncture points associated with hearing and vision stimulates the visual and auditory cerebral areas. The brain activity can be influenced by the acupuncture point chosen, the length of time the needles remain in place, the type of action or stimulation applied to the needle, and the length and diameter of the needle. Small retaining needles can be used to stimulate the acupuncture points for a longer period of time. Moxa and electro-therapy can be used to further stimulate the brain during acupuncture.

Cold laser therapy is similar to needle puncture and occurs when a laser is directed at the acupuncture point for a prescribed optimal amount of energy. Acupuncture laser therapy is effective for muscle tears, muscle fatigue, non-healing diabetic ulcers, bone fractures, acne, pain, stimulation of collagen growth, skin damage, bacterial sinus infections, gout, torn ligaments, psoriasis, tunnel carpel syndrome, neuropathy associated with alcoholism, chronic rheumatoid arthritis, subacute and chronic adnexitis, addictions, and anti-aging facial treatments. The cold laser therapy is the best way to treat torn or damaged ligaments and tendons. It is non-invasive and does not impair microcirculation to area of the damage. It speeds recovery by months or weeks depending on the severity of the injury.

Want the REAL Secret to Dominating a Niche? Do THIS Everyday (But DO NOT Do That!)

I want to share with you what I believe is the real key to dominating a niche, and how EASY it really can be if you're willing to work.

The truth is, most of the online advice out there is bogus.

As a matter of fact, most of the people recommending you try a traffic strategy, or a niche marketing method, DO NOT really use those techniques themselves.

For the most part, they are "teaching" something they may have ONCE done a long while back …. made a few bucks, and turned That into a full time income being a teacher!

For example, I've worked with people who have thousands of people in membership clubs where they share their niche marketing "secrets" ….. YET, whenever we work together on a project that really IS about niche marketing, we've lost money.

(and believe it or not, it's usually MY super simple stuff that has to make up for where their sophisticated stuff falls short)

Here is ALL you need to do to dominate a niche …. EVEN in the most competitive niche there is:

CRUSH it with content. Create copyious amounts of KILLER content that converts like crazy and simply do not stop until you've got oodles of traffic coming in everyday on autopilot.

When I attack a new market, I'll write 10 or 15 articles a day. I'll have those articles re-purposed around the web using inexpensive outsourced help. I'll have one or two writers create supplemental articles as well …. and distribute them the very same way. (they're NOT going to be as "good" as mine or yours per se …. but they're good enough to generate LOTS of free traffic, and that's all we want)

In 2008 – I used my CONTENT and CONVERSION model to generate a million readers in a new niche, ALL using free traffic. (and hundreds of thousands of those people went to the affiliate programs we were pushing at the time …. again, without spending a dime on ppc)

What you MUST avoid is this:

Keyword constipation .. 🙂

Or said differently, Analysis Paralysis!

Do not worry about your keywords, and competition NEARLY as much as those gurus want you to. (I pay for 5 keyword tools and I almost NEVER even use them – mostly it's a waste of your time and attention)

Just use TITILLATING titles, make bold promises and use your content to build a COMMUNITY of fans and friends who will build your business on autopilot, once you get your groove going .. 🙂

Delete Temporary File

The presence of too many temporary files is a common cause that slows down your computer by clogging a reasonable part of your hard disk drive. If you examine your hard drive, you will find several files with a tilde (~) prefix or .TMP suffix, like ~ xyz.dat or xyz.tmp. Such files are called temporary (or temp) files, and you can almost always safely delete them.

The first step to delete temporary file is to defragment your hard drive after regular intervals. Defragmenting will locate the scattered pieces of these temp files, reunite them, and put them on your hard drive in order, contiguous cluster.

Follow the following procedure to defragment your drive:

  • Click Start, Programs (in case of WinXP / Vista, it's All Programs), and then Accessories.
  • Under Accessories, choose System Tools.
  • After that, select Disk Defragmenter.
  • Click OK after choosing the drive.

Depending on the dimension of your hard drive and the number of files on it, Disk Defragmenter can take 30 minutes to 2 hours for this job.

Another alternative to delete temporary file is to periodically erase any temp file that has been saved on your hard drive. For this, you will need to find the temp files at first. The easiest technique to do that is to make use of Windows' built-in Find utility. Click Start, Find, and then select Files Or Folders. Next, type * .tmp; ~ *. * in the Named: field on the tab marked Name & Location.

With the use of this syntax, the operating system will understand that you are looking for files that begin with a tilde (~) and files that end with .TMP. After a few minutes, a list of the files will be displayed. In the display, you can click the Size column heading so that the list is sorted by file size. This will help you to view especially large temp files, if any. Remember that it is not an unusual thing to find 2MB, 3MB or even larger temp files. It is always advisable to delete any temporary file as even a small temp file will occupy space on your hard disk drive and slow down the system.

You can also use Disk Cleanup to Delete Temporary Files It is a built-in Windows utility that can delete such files very quickly. To utilize it, open the Start menu and then click in succession All Programs (in case of Windows 98 / Me, click Programs), Accessories, System Tools and Disk Cleanup. After choosing the drive that you wish to clean, click OK. After scanning your hard drive, Disk Cleanup will show how much room it can clear by erasing particular types of files. If you are unsure what the files do, choose the entry and read the description that appears in the box below the entry. To delete selected files, click OK. However, Disk Cleanup will not delete all temporary files on your computer and unfortunately you can not instruct it to go back and perform a better job. Neverheless, you can locate and delete most of the remaining temporary files by hand.

Living With Diabetes Treatment

Diabetes is a disease of the blood. It means that you suffer from high blood pressure. The insulin regulation of the body does not have the ability to function properly. This results in the disease. There are many diabetes treatments, and the way that it is treated depends on the type of diabetes an individual has.

There are several degrees of the disease. If a person has a lesser degree then it is possible to regulate the blood sugar by a change in diet. This would include avoiding foods that are high in sugar. It would also include eating foods that will balance the amount of sugar in the blood stream.

If the degree is higher there are medications that help regulate it. The exact medication taken will be determined by the individual in question. Sometimes it is a combination of medications. It also depends on the overall heath of the individual taking the medication. In many cases a person who suffers with this particular disease might also have other ailments.

That is why it is important to check with a doctor before taking, adding, or changing medication. Although, medication can be helpful if they are mixed with other medications the results might be detrimental to the health of the individual taking them.

If you have a high degree of diabetes then you might need to give yourself insulin shots. The degree of the illness can be determined by the doctor. Some people have to give themselves shots more often than others. The doctor will instruct the person who takes the shots.

Another thing that is vital in the treatment of diabetes is that the sufferer must take his or her glucose daily. This will let them know if the blood sugar is at a normal level. If the blood sugar is too high it can result in death. That is why it is imperative for those with diabetes to make sure that the glucose is at the proper level.

This disease of the blood affects literally thousands of people everyday. It not only plagues the older generation, but it is now common among the young as well. That is why treatment for the disease is evolving day by day. It has become a necessity to not only treat it, but to find a way to cure it if at all possible. These treatments are designed for those with the disease to experience a longer and more fulfilling life than they would otherwise be able to experience.

2 Major Reasons Behind Voluntary Weight Gain

It looks like there are many factors that can influence our eating habits. Something as simple as a delicious scent can lead us from being full to being hungry in a matter of minutes. Knowing what some of these triggers are the key to weight loss success. In this article I will reveal two major reasons which lead to overeating and everweight gain.

  1. The first reason is improper dishware. Sure this may seem like a nonsense idea, but it is in fact a major culprit behind overeating. Research shows that we tend to eat more when we are served from larger containers. People who use larger plates during lunch and dinner end up consuming a lot more that those individuals who eat from smaller plates. Furthermore, using smaller utensils can help you eat slower, which in return can lead to a fewer calories consumed. When we eat fast we tend to overeat because we do not give our body the opportunity to inform us that we had ateen enough. By eating slow, our bodies are able to register that we had ate enough long before we start to overeat.
  2. Too much variety. A buffet often leads to numerous cravings. You want to try a little bit of everything because it looks so delicious. That is why it is important to limit your variety to only the essentials. If you are used to eating frequently, eat healthy. Consume plenty of fruits, beans, vegetables, broth soups, whole grains and low fat dairy.

These are two of the most common factors behind voluntary overeating. There are numerous other factors which influence our hunger. If appetite control is a problem for you, you can always try various herbal remedies, such as hoodoba hoodia to help you lose weight [http://www.weightdepot.com] and manage your hunger.

A World Cup for a Non American Football

Which is the greatest team sports’ event? For most US Americans the “Super Bowll” would be an easy answer. Others, mostly attracted by baseball, basketball, or hockey, would choose one of those sports’ finals or all-star games, but this is not the case for the rest of the world. Outside of the US when people say football they refer to the sport that is known as soccer in United States and which is by far the most popular sport in all of the five continents. The World Cup that takes place over a four-year period is considered as the most important athletic competition, being more widely-viewed on TV exceeding even the Olympic Games. In 2002, when North Korea and Japan co-hosted the World Cup the cumulative TV audience was estimated to be 28.8 billion, while 1.1 billion individuals watched the final match of the tournament between Brazil and Germany.

This year the World Cup takes place in Germany with the first mach between Germany and Costa Rica being scheduled on 9th of June and the last one, the final game which is going to take place one month later on the 9th of July in Berlin. Thirty-two national teams are participating in this great “party” of world soccer and they will play in a total of twelve German cities. Among the national teams, which participate 14 come from Europe, 5 from Africa, 4 from South America, 4 from Asia, 4 from North and Central America and 1 from Oceania.

Brazil is the defending Word Champion and one of the great favorites of wining the trophy this year. The Brazilians have already won the World Cup five times and are the most successful team in the competition’s history. This year, legendary coach Pareira has at his disposal some of the most talented football players of the world: Kaka, Adriano, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo and of course Ronaldinho the World Player of the Year for the last two years.

As strong contenders for the title are considered, by soccer experts and bookmakers, the team of Germany, which will play in front of its audience as the host-nation, and that of England, Argentina and Italy. In addition, the Brazilians, the French striker Thierry Henry, the Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko, the English midfielder Frank Lampard, the German midfielder Michael Ballack and the new star of the Argentinean football Lionel Messi are players one will enjoy watching.

The United States’ national team is assigned in the Group E and will face Italy, Ghana and the Czech Republic in the first stage of the tournament, giving its first game in Gelsenkirchen on the 12th of June against the Czechs. Coach Bruce Arena has his team believing that their mix of young talents such as DaMarcus Beasley and Landon Donovan and old campaigners like Claudio Reyna and Brian McBride could be enough to go further than the quarter-finals where they reached in 2002.

There are many assumptions about soccer’s low popularity in the United States, but the most convincing one seem to be the fact that the American national team didn’t have any serious accomplishments during the last years in order to attract their country’s attention and interest. The boys of Bruce Arena will have their opportunity now inside the German stadiums.

Ten Reasons Why Cocker Spaniels Lick

Why Cocker Spaniels Lick and Is It Harmful?

Licking is natural behavior going all the way back to the wolf. When the mother wolf would return from hunting its food the pups in her pack would lick her mouth and face to stimulate regurgitation. This is a normal behavior during the weaning stages. Soon after the pups join in and learn to hunt for their own food. Interesting enough the mother wolf would also lick her pups in return to stimulate the pups to relieve themselves. It is not surprising to learn that licking is a natural instinct that all dogs inherit. There are different types of licking behaviors and as many reasons why dogs lick for daily routines and well as survival.

Cocker Spaniel licking can stem from a variety of reasons. Some can be complex but most are simple to figure out and easy to fix. Let’s take a look at the possible reasons first.

Reasons Why Dogs Lick

1) A submissive social behavior – paying respect to a dominant dog
2) Puppies lick their mothers face to solicit food when weaning
3) A sign of affection – dog kisses
4) Dog self cleanliness – a natural instinct learned when being a puppy
5) Dog manipulation tactic – licking for attention
6) Self and litter grooming
7) Stress
8) Dog health problems
9) Wound cleaning
10) Injury – pain

When To Be Concerned

If your Cocker Spaniel is a compulsive licker it may be time to look into the reasons why. For example:is your dog left alone for long periods of time? Stressed out due to separation anxiety? Is your dog injured? Are there any lesions of the skin? Is your dog sick? Obsessive licking and can lead to scratching and or biting the area which could present other problems. Compulsive – Obsessive licking behaviors can often be linked to a dog feeling anxious.

The first place to start is by inspecting the source. Maybe something is stuck on their skin or coats, look between the paws for cuts. Look for rashes under the coat. Look for possible parasites. Look for anything unusual that may be causing the dog to lick itself. If it’s a skin condition it will most likely be an easy fix.

On the other hand, if your dog is compulsively licking everything is sight than there might be a greater concern. Licking you into submission may be cute at first. But it will tire soon. It may be a learned behavior to manipulate you to get your attention and to get what it wants. The behavior needs to be broken.

Do not reward the dog for the behavior. By this I mean never give your dog a treat to stop licking. If you give in, the dog will have simply learned a new trick. When the dog starts licking simply divert its attention to a different activity. But first you need to break the licking with a strong verbal NO command. Never hit or yell at your Cocker Spaniel, be firm and gentle.

Is Licking Harmful?

Dogs have been licking humans for hundreds of years and I have never heard of anyone dying from an innocent dog kiss. All dogs love the taste of salt, this is one of the main reasons they lick humans. With that said it’s important to point out that you should never let a dog lick your open wounds. This could increase the risk for infection by introducing pathogenic bacteria to the wound. Despite of what you may have heard, the possible transmitting of a disease or infection by a dog licking an open wound should be avoided.

As long as your Cocker Spaniel is healthy and shows no signs of illness it is safe to bet that playful licking is not harmful unless you are ticklish. At worst it can be very annoying; at best it can be a show of affection.

Always confer with your local Vet or a professional trainer if you feel your pup has a licking issue beyond your control. Compulsive – Obsessive licking behaviors are often linked to a dog feeling anxious for some reason. Your Vet or a professional dog trainer can help you figure out the source and offer remedies. No need to have your pup suffer needlessly and stress yourself out at the same time.

Why Pure Virgin Coconut Oil Is Fantastic For Your Skin

When it comes to anti-aging creams, it looks that people will try anything to look younger. The latest one I've heard about is "snail slime". Boy, I'm a big believer in staying away from chemical-ridden, anti-aging lotions but this is taking things a little too far. Still, I guess snails do not have much in the way of wrinkles so there might be something in it!

For myself though, I'm not all that keen on smeering my face with slimy snail entrails. I much prefer the lovely smell and feel of pure Virgin Coconut Oil. The most important reason though is the fact that Virgin Coconut Oil is high in antioxidants that fight against the formation of free radicals ……. those nasty things we all hear about but do not really know what they do.

Put simply, free radial break down your skin's connectives tissues. The skin therefore loses its elasticity and signs of aging appear in the form of wrinkles. So, the trick is to keep the formation of free radicals down to a minimum! How do you do this? The answer is antioxidants.

The problem with a lot of conventional body care products is that they are made using refined vegetable oils. "Refined" is often a fancy name for the application of chemicals that have the effect ofstripping out all the naturally-occurring antioxidants in these oils. This means that the natural antioxidant protection against the formation of free-radicals is destroyed!

No so with pure Virgin Coconut Oil. This unrefined oil is extremely high in antioxidants that penetrate deep into the underlying tissues of your skin to prevent and protect against the formation of free radicals. This is the primary reason why this oil is considered as the best natural ingredient lotion for the skin.

Virgin Coconut Oil will also soften and moisturize your skin, as well as act as an exfoliant in removing the outer layer of dead skin cells. This beautiful, all-natural oil has been found to: –

Prevent premature aging of the skin.

Heal and repair damaged skin tissue.

Help bring back a youthful appearance.

Assist in the prevention of liver spots and other blemishes caused by aging and over exposure to sunlight.

Strengthen the body's immune system.

Aid in digestion.

Help protect against degenerative disease, arthritis, heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

Promote weight loss.

If you want your skin looking smoother, younger and more often textured, the first step is to stop slapping chemicals on your body. Artificial chemicals, preservatives and colorings will damage your skin in the long run. The second step is to use the best natural ingredient for your skin – in other words, pure Virgin Coconut.

How to Obtain Ageless Radiant Skin, Hair, and Nails

Spring Cleansing

Your body is an irreplaceable machine that, like a car, needs regular maintenance. This month, as you prepare to give your home a thorough spring cleaning, why not also treat your hard-working body to a good cleanse?

Detoxification, or internal cleansing, can rid the body of stored toxins. Chemicals, drugs, excess hormones, waste products, pesticides, and heavy metals build up in our bodies naturally as well as through exposure to pollutants in food, water, and air.

Increasing evidence suggests this accumulation can affect negatively on our health, and many doctors advocate detoxification to rejuvenate the body.

"You do not need to do a major cleanse to get great results," says Alison Vandekerkhove, a naturopathic physician based in Langley, BC. "Small dietary changes, lots of water, and a few simple herbs and supplements will do the trick."

Before starting a cleanse, Dr. Vandekerkhove urges people with medical concerns to consult a professional. It is then important to prepare a well-rounded plan that will not stress the body too much, particularly the liver, the largest detox organ.

Take the case of one of her patients, a 35-year-old woman complaining of premenstrual syndrome-cramps, bloating, and irritability. To help remove toxins and enhance liver function, she was put on a mild cleansing diet of organic fruit and vegetables, brown rice, fish and chicken for three weeks. She tried to avoid processed food and sugar. She added a daily protein supplement, as well as a liver support herbal formula. After one month, her symptoms had vastly improved.

"With today's lifestyle you need more than herbs to get full benefit from detoxification," explains Dr. Vandekerkhove. "A diet low in refined foods and sugars is important. I can not emphasize enough to drink eight to 10 glasses of water daily."

Getting the body moving regularly also assists in cleansing. Exercise need not be strenuous-yoga or walking will do. Deep breathing to promote relaxation and to clear the mind is also beneficial.

As for those herbal helpers, Dr. Vandekerkhove suggests milk thistle to protect and regenerate liver cells. Oregon grape stimulates the liver and gallbladder and aids in digestion and elimination. Artichoke protects and stimulates the liver. Burdock rejuvenates the liver and strengthens the circulatory and lymphatic systems. These herbs are sold alone or in combination in capsule or liquid (tincture) form.

"There are also lots of great cleansing teas on the market, and they're an easy way to take herbs," says Dr. Vandekerkhove.

Other nutrients to consider include selenium, needed by the liver to produce glutathione-essential for detoxification. A protein supplement can also be beneficial, as the liver requires adequate protein to break down toxins.

So who would benefit from a cleanse? "Pretty much everyone," says Dr. Vandekerkhove. "Spring is an excellent time, but any time of year would work.

All The Amazing Secrets Behind Acupuncture And Depression

Acupuncture originated in China almost 2000 years ago, and was quickly assimilated by the eastern civilization. However, in the first days in which the acupuncture was just starting to develop, only a few people were allowed and qualified to do this kind of job.

Nowadays, more than 20000 practitioners from the United States alone are allowed to do acupuncture. The National Institutes of Health says that there are more than 2000 acupuncture points on the body connecting with 12 main and 8 secondary pathways called meridians. These are said to conduct energy, chi or qi, between the surface of the body and the internal organs. Qi is responsible for regulating the spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical balance of a human. Another explanation, more scientific, states that the needles used in acupuncture determine in a positive way, the muscles and the nervous system, the spinal cord and even the brain.

Acupuncture and depression has been proven to work in many cases, some positive evidence is the fact that acupuncture has been practiced for so long and by so many people. There is even a scientific explanation about acupuncture and depression, and how one can treat the other. Experiments have been carried out by different scientists on different sets of people, mostly woman, who were suffering from depression.

Acupuncture and depression was proven to work in most of the cases tested, delivering very good results in favor of acupuncture and depression. Many subjects mentioned that they were feeling very well after the acupuncture treatment, and proved once again that acupuncture and depression worked for them. Many of them realized that a treatment with acupuncture needles is more efficient and less expensive than a treatment with anti depressives.

If you are thinking of starting an acupuncture and depression treatment, the first thing you should do is ask you doctor for the best practitioners in your area, or you can find more information about other practitioners near you. Sometimes, a trip further away in order to make an acupuncture treatment may be the best choice you can make between all the available modern treatments.

If this is your first session at an acupuncture clinic, do not plan to stop the other current medication you are on, because the new effects will come with time, and not after night. Depression is not the first reason why people go to an acupuncture session, but it's one of the most important reasons among people questioned about this matter.

Anxiety Coping For Teens – Regain Your Freedom Technique

Adolescence can be a challenging time with young experiencing biological, psychological, and social changes. Both normative stressors such as moving from middle school to high school, as well as stressors such as parental divorce have been linked to an increased risk of such internalizing behaviors as depression and anxiety, the relationship between stress and at-risk behaviors, cultural diversity youth , and various coping mechanisms.

One such coping mechanism, The Regain Your Freedom Technique along with added on methods such as music therapy, aromatherapy, massage, visualization and daily journaling are helping teens in their coping skills and recovery.

Learning to use these methods are a way of grounding themselves. This grounding is a way of refocusing the mind on the here and now as opposed to the past traumatic experiences associated with anxiety and the family of other disorders that travel with anxiety.

The secret is to not try and wipe out the memories in your mind but to approach them from a different angle.

The triggers that cause teens and adults to revisit their anger, anxiety state are eliminated when enough time has past using the Regain Your Freedom Technique and the technique has been reinforced in the mind by the fact that it is used when the first feelings or memories of anxiety begin.

Although low levels of stressful life experiences are considered to be a normal part of development, higher levels can institute a threat to the well-being and healthy development of children and adolescents.

Adolescents are exposed to increased rates of stressful life experiences and there is some evidence that increases in stressors account, at least in part, for the increased rates of psychological problems associated with this developmental period.

Many of the stressful life events and daily hassles of adolescence are similar for youths despite differences in cultural background or place of residence. However, adolescents from diverse cultural groups often encounter unique challenges that arise from the particular cultural-ecological niches that inhabit by virtue of their ethnic group membership and other context defining factors, such as their families socioeconomic status, history of immigration, integration with mainstream and ethnic communities, and the location of their neighborhoods and schools.

For some adolescents, these factors combine to offer increased opportunities for development of competencies that enable them to become productive young adults. Too often, however, these interacting factors expose adolescents to chronic adversities and cumulative stressors that overwhelm their anxiety copying capabilities.

Stress has been related to both lower socioeconomic status and poor health. This research tests a model which suggests that adolescents from varying socioeconomic backgrounds differ not only in terms of exposure to negative life events, but also in their interpretation of life situations.

Study participants were 100 high school students roughly half African American, the other half Caucasian. Students watched two different videos in a laboratory setting, one consisting of an ambiguous situation, the other a negative situation. Students answered open-ended questions, completed a questionnaire, and had their heart rate and blood pressure monitored.

Results found that lower socioeconomic adolescents were more likely to interpret the ambiguous social situations as threatening, suggesting that interventions aimed at minimizing youths threat interpretations may reduce the physiological toll associated with these perceptions.

Anxiety coping skills are still the best form of treatment to enable a teen to navigate through these years of development and deal with their changing bodies, psychological as well as situational experiences.

Many teens have already shown positive changes in their anxiety coping skills. This technique is easy to use, plus it requires no medications.
