How Soap Can Make Your Everyday Life Happier

As you know, soap is something we all use daily. If you’re like me; you enjoy using soap and taking your time using this commodity in the morning. We tend to forget that soap can produce amazing aromas. These aromas can produce feelings that we can take with us for the entire day. That’s why it’s important to have the right soap in your shower. It could literally be the difference that makes your day special.

Soaps tend to get watered down or overlooked by other products. We have to remember to not neglect this friendly foe. Typically, the store brands aren’t created with love but rather, manufactured by a production line with a machine leading the way. Manufactured soap can smell just as amazing. It really can. However, the benefits and limitations are calculated and rather limiting. Why limit yourself to something, that is ordinary? Ask yourself this question… “Am I ordinary?” The answer to that should be a given. If it’s not, I’ll give you a hint… The answer to that is. NO… No you’re not. You are Special and Unique. We each have traits, characteristics and special features that make us different from each other. Do not disregard or forget that. We are all special in our own way.

I would suggest, realizing your special-ness and embracing it. It can be admired by others just by investing in the right soap. I’ve battled with my own self-worth for years. Psoriasis, is the name given to my life-time battle foe. Psoriasis, can put a damper on your ability to pretty much do anything. It can play a huge factor in your personal and social activities and self-esteem. Unfortunately, life can throw things at you like this with no reason or warning. It’s totally up to you how you decide how to handle it.

I made up my mind to fight and take Psoriasis and turn it on its head. One of my healing or some would call “coping” methods, were long showers with the right soap. Until the day come where there is a cure for Psoriasis, it’s all I can do for now. There is always soap that keeps my mind hopeful, stress-free and calm. The main problem is finding it.

I’m not going to list any brands because that is really not what this article is about. But I would suggest looking into Homemade Soaps and African-made Soaps. Both, are worth looking into and worth the investment.

Hobbies for Teen Girls

Adolescence is an age when all teenagers are looking for creating an individual identity. The little girl has grown up into an awkward teenager. She no longer needs her mother to feed and dress her. Nor does she require her dad to tell her bedtime stories and help her with shoe laces. She is busy creating, writing and telling stories on her own! She wants her privacy and also wants recognition in whatever her new hobby is. Influenced by peers, best friends, video games, modelling and television, she is ready to develop a mind of her own. Most teenage girls are mature enough to know what will hold their interests.

There are a wide variety of hobbies-indoor and outdoors that can keep young girls occupied. Internet, social dating and helping mom are just a few ways of keeping her occupied. Keeping her mental and physical balance is essential as she is still growing and needs help to mould her personality. Some young girls are already keeping secret diaries, learning the art of make-up, taking up Tennis, Badminton or Hockey to keep fit. Today’s generation of teenagers are computer-savvy and also aware of keeping fit with balanced diet and exercises.

The girls are more mature and keen to prove their mental wellness. Parents could encourage girls to simultaneously keep even inexpensive hobbies like stamp collection (yes, they are still a hot favourite, so what if snail mail has been replaced by email). Young girls love to cook; they can learn some simple dishes at home or join some classes.

During summer vacations there is a long list of hobbies that sprout up to choose from. Dancing, yoga, art classes, crafts, gymnastics are quite popular, as fees are also reasonable for parents to pay. Teen girls get an opportunity to make new friends and also hone their talents that could be of use in adult life. It’s a fallacy that teen girls are only thinking of hooking boys all the time. Few are reading romantic novels but most of them are reading fiction and poetry and keeping scrap books as well. Photography is a proving to be a good hobby for young girls. Well, some girls like to be in front of the camera and some behind them! Rock climbing, cycling with friends, swimming are equally satisfying hobbies.

Most girls choose hobbies that will help to keep long hours with friends. And this does not mean an investment in mobile phones (a headache for parents) only. Join a drama club or create one for a friend is an ideal way to spend summer holidays. If not an actress then getting into creative production and styling is a good option for teenage girls. Learning nail art designs has also become the most popular hobby these days. As girls learn and have fun at the same time, they develop better personalities. When they volunteer for shelter homes, baby sit and walk dogs they become more responsible. Parents can guide the girls in becoming better adults by helping them to choose hobbies that will help them in later life.

How to Manage Joint Pain

You need to be tested properly to ensure that the cause of your joint pain is established. This is because there are so many causes of joint pain. Inflammations and injuries will have joint pains as their major symptom. Also, diseases will cause the problem of pain in the joints.

There is a scientific name for pain in the joint which is arthralgia. This word is related to arthritis. There are times when ligaments that support the bones are stretched or torn. This is usually referred to as a sprain and it causes intestinal joint pain. When you have a sprain, you will be required to rest. This is to give room for natural healing. You can also use ice to treat the pain.

When you elevate the affected part of the body, you may reduce the swelling. Couple this with anti inflammatory drugs and your pain will be reduced. There are also ointments available to help manage the problem. Do not use this drugs for long to avoid side effects.

Many sportsmen will experience this problem and, for first aid, an anti inflammatory ointment is massed on the affected tissue engaging in a circular motion. To reduce the stress or tension on the tendons, an elastic bandage will be used. This way, the problem is taken care of and, the pain goes away in a very short while. Remember, if the problem persists seek expert advice.

It is probably vital to mention that pain in joint, is one of the sign of steroid drug withdrawal. Sweating, fever and muscle aches are some of the other symptoms of withdrawal from the drug. It is also helpful to mention that this is the reason that all anti-inflammatory drugs are non steroidal.

Sickle cell anemia is a genetic disease that is known to cause arthritis. This condition triggers pain in the joints. This condition can be identified as early as the first year of life in a child. The child sufferers from many ailments before the parents get to know the actual condition. It is vital for such a condition to be identified early.

This is to help increase the life expectancy of the individual. All in all, the bottom line for pain in the joints is to seek medical attention when you feel that the condition is not good. There are options of treatment that may solve your problem once and for all. One of this treatment is surgery. This intervention is indeed not for everyone; a doctor will shed more light on this.

Nose Job (Rhinoplasty) Myths You Should Know the Truth About

Rhinoplasty is a very popular cosmetic procedure known for the potential to profoundly affect one’s appearance. Commonly known as a nose job, the procedure has many misconceptions. Below we answer a few of the most common myths and hope it serves to inform you and your decision on undergoing rhinoplasty.

#1 Your nose can be shaped to any form or size desired

While a nose job can bring dramatic changes to the face, there are limits on what can be done. There are boundaries set by the amount of tissue you have, your bone structure and other factors. Just as important is the standard of cosmetic appearance. A plastic surgeon can go beyond that standard, but the outcome will give look unnatural and artificial. Your plastic surgeon will guide you on what can be done. He will also give you his advice on what cannot, or should not, be done.

A nose job that goes past your cosmetic boundaries might have the general form you desire, but not the effect. In fact, the effect will be the exact opposite of your goals, standing out in a way that’s irregular. Any plastic surgeon with integrity will refuse to pass certain limits on a rhinoplasty, for the sake of both of you.

When you go in for your rhinoplasty consultation, keep an open mind.

#2 There are no scars from a nose job

There are scars with a rhinoplasty, just as there are with any surgical procedure. However, a good cosmetic surgeon is able to hide the scars, usually within the nose itself. That leaves you with a natural, smooth appearance afterward. Any scarring is usually invisible to the eye.

#3 Rhinoplasty is a painful procedure

Actually, there is usually very little pain, if any, from undergoing a nose job. There will be swelling and possibly some bruising in the days following your operation. That will pass. The overall discomfort you experience will be minimal.

#4 – Your Post-Rhinoplasty nose is very fragile

This misconception prompts some to cut out much of their former active life. They fear a bump to the face will injure or bend their new nose. These fears are untrue. The recovery time following your rhinoplasty may require refraining from some activity. However, after that period you can return to your normal lifestyle with full confidence.

#5 Only women get nose jobs

It is true that, overall, women tend to get plastic surgery more than men. However, more and more men are now seeing the benefits of cosmetic procedures and are undergoing them. Rhinoplasty, in fact, is the 2nd most common procedure men choose today. A growing percentage of males are getting nose jobs every year and are very pleased with the results.

Stage One Of Female Sexual Response

Female Orgasm and Foreplay

For men who want to please their partners, foreplay is not optional. I make that point because I've worked with lots of men who hated foreplay and just wanted to get down to business without realizing that foreplay has an important role in female orgasm. I've also worked with men who enjoy foreplay just as much as the women in their lives. What's important to realize is that foreplay should be about what makes her feel good because at this point you're probably already in a state of arousal. She is probably not at that point yet.

In this article, we're first going to discuss the female sexual arousal cycle and compare it to yours. Then, we'll look at some types of foreplay which you can try with your partner in order to help her become physically and psychologically ready to orgasm.

Female Sexual Response

The famous sex researchers, William Masters and Virginia Johnson, were the first to outline the four stages of sexual response in human beings. These stages apply to both men and women, but each gender experiences the stages differently. Men typically race through the stages faster than women do, but that's only on average. In some situations, women may be ready for orgasm much faster than a man. We'll look at each of the stages as they occur in women and we'll tell you what signs to watch for so you'll be able to determine when your partner is ready for the next stage.

Stage 1 – Excitement

This is one of the easiest stages to reach for both men and women. A woman can become excited just by smelling your cologne or having your hand brush against her breasts. She can become excited by fantasizing about sexual encounters or by flirting with you during dinner. In fact, during the average date, women may become excited ten to fifteen times. Most of those times do not lead to the next level, however.

The female body responds to this stage in very specific ways. Let's go through some of those physical signs of excitation:

– Her nipples become erect

– Her vagina starts becoming lubricated

– Her clitoris begins to swell and grow larger

– The inner parts of her vagina begin to expand

– Her breasts may even increase in size if she becomes highly aroused

These are not the only physical signs, but these are probably the ones you or her may notice. Notice that during this early stage, her vagina is already becoming lubricated. Many men have the mistaken announcement that this is a sign that a woman is ready to engage in intercourse. That is not the case. A lubricated vagina only means a woman is aroused. All of these signs do suggest, however, that her body is preparing for the possibility of sex.

In my next article, I will talk about the next stages of the female sexual response cycle.

Diabetes and Infection

Infections become very serious when you have diabetes. Diabetes affects how your immune system wounds infections. This is because infections develop quickly in people who are diabetic. The high glucose levels in the body tissue leads to bacteria. Therefore, diabetics are prone to infections of the gums, feet, skin, kidneys, bladder, and vagina.

The symptoms of infection include a wound or cut that will not heal; skin rash; fever above 101 degrees; a sore that is red, warm to the touch, and draining; a sore throat; sweating or chills; painful areas; sinus drainage or nasal congestion; headaches; dry cough; white patches in the mouth; nausea; vomiting; diarrhea; vaginal discharge, itching, or odor; painful urination, frequent urination, or foul-smelling urine.

If you have any sign of infection, it is important that you contact your doctor immediately. Diabetics have a hard time fighting infections, and it is better if treatment begins at the sunset of the infection, instead of waiting for it to "fester."

For gum infections, which are indicated by white patches in the mouth or bleeding gums, visit your dentist. Make sure that your dentist is aware that you are diabetic, and let him know about all medications that you are taking. Also, after a visit to the dentist, make sure that your doctor is aware that there was an infection, and let him know what medications your dentist prescribed for you as well.

For infections of the feet, you can visit your medical doctor; however, he may prefer for you to see a podiatrist. Again, let the podiatrist know that you are diabetic, and inform your doctor of the podiatrist's findings and any prescriptions that you received.

As a diabetic, you can live a perfectly normal life. However, you do need to be more aware of what is going on with your body than you have in the past. Remember that prevention should be your main goal – but if you do have signs of an infection, early treatment is the next best thing to prevention.

Food Glorious Food On Board The Carnival Glory

The Carnival Glory is 110,000 tons of glorious fun. The ship was built in 2002 and is the second in a series of Conquest class ships produced by Carnival Cruise Lines. This vessel has something for everyone whether young or old. For those seeking excitement and action or relaxation and peace this is the ship for you. Carnival Cruise Lines has mastered the art of entertaining and serving thousands at once.

Let’s start with the most talked about cruise experience of all, dining at sea. On the carnival Glory there are two formal dining rooms called the Platinum and the Golden. Upon boarding you will be assigned one of these with a specific dining time and table number. You are not obligated to eat here at any time however if you choose to dine in these dining rooms you must sit at your assigned table and arrive on time or you will not be allowed in. You may be seated with others or only with your traveling companion. Some love this aspect of dining on a cruise, getting to know new people , I do not as I am very shy and always request a table for only those that I travel with.

These two dining rooms serve a different menu each night with lobster being served on formal night which usually is takes place on the first day at sea with no port stop. There are usually 7 entrees to choose from, a chicken, a beef, a fish and a vegetarian selection. Anything you see as an entree can be prepared as an appetizer instead if you would like to just sample it. There are also at least 6 appetizers to choose from like chicken satay skewers or mississipi delta prawns. Caesar salad and garden salad are always on the menu. The dessert menu is scrumptious with treats such as tiramisu or key lime pie you are sure to find one to your liking. Dessert usually has 4 or 5 choices, one of them being low fat or sugar free.

There are several options for dining if you prefer to set your own schedule. The most formal of these is the upscale supper club called the Emerald room. This room is elegant with giant faux emeralds as the lighting fixtures. You can expect a leisurely dining experience of two to three hours at the Emerald room and the best quality of food and service anywhere at sea. For this privilege there is a small surcharge. Reservations are required so do that soon after boarding. On the first night of your sailing there will be a presentation in the Old Glory atrium lobby. Many people make their reservations at this time. You can have lobster at the supper club on any night as well as filet mignon, Russian caviar or lamb.

If you would rather just eat when you are hungry then the following are your options. Carnival is famous for their 24 hours pizzeria and the one on the Carnival Glory does not disappoint. Pizza slices or a whole pizza pie can be made to order as well as delicious calzones . Caesar salad is offered here as the perfect accompaniment. It is located at the ships aft otherwise known as the back.

The Redsail restaurant is at the back of the ship. There are several different food stations set up with their own category of food. This Lido restaurant dishes out a variety of ethnic foods such as Mexican or Italian or American BBQ daily for lunch and a sumptuous buffet for dinner. The Lido grill near the main pool serves hamburgers hot dogs and fries, salads and cold meat, a hit with the kids as always.

There is an asian food station that serves egg rolls and fried rice or noodles. Because the food here is cooked ahead of time and kept under warming lights it tastes much like mall food from a food court. Definitely not worth lining up for so if you must go do so during off peak hours not during meal times.

There is a deli where you can order deli standards like corned beef on rye or a bagel with cream cheese. There are 8 different sandwiches to choose from and all of them can be grilled if you like. Your deli sandwiches are made when you order them just how you like it so the lines are long. Go to the deli in the first two days of your cruise before the masses discover it and they wait will be shorter.

The best kept secret of the Carnival Glory is the fish and chips station inside of the Redsail restaurant. It is hidden on the second floor of the Redsail at the very back. Because of the location there is never a long lineup but the fish and chips are delicious. Calamari and oysters as well as tuna and some sort of fish soup or stew is also on the menu.

At several places around the Redsail you will find the ice cream and frozen yoghurt stations where you can make your own sundaes or cones from your choice of vanilla or chocolate, fat free or fat full. There is always one open 24 hours a day.

On the Kaleidescope boulevard there is a sushi bar where sushi but not sashimi, the raw fish kind, is offered from about 5pm until 8 pm. There is no charge for sushi so dig in. There are five kinds to choose from and chopsticks are provided as well as the usual sushi partners or pickled ginger and wasabi. There is never a wait for sushi though because it is located right beside the patisserie that serves pastries, cakes and specialty coffees for a fee. People assume that there is a fee for sushi as well.

Last but not least is room service. Room service is also included in your cruise fare but it is appropriate to tip a couple of dollars to the server who delivers it to your cabin. You can order a cornucopia of food from the room service menu. From salads to cookies and sandwiches with chips all are free. Drinks that you can order are juices and milk but not the lemonade or iced tea available in the dining room. You can pre-order breakfast to come in the morning with a pot of coffee to enjoy on your balcony.

How Stress Can Break Your Heart

Most of us heard about the relationship between diet and heart disease. We know that too much cholesterol and fat in the body can trigger a heart attack. What about unhappy thoughts, stress and the feeling that life is going against you? Does your thinking affect your heart’s health?

Put your left fist, thumb on top, up to your breast bone, slightly to the left of the centre. Squeeze your fist hard and rhythmically. Your heart beats like this, some 100,000 times a day pumping about four quarts of blood through your body minute (and much more when you are stressed or are exercising)

Put your fist back up against your breast bone, thumb up. Squeeze it as hard as you can, again and again. Imagine doing this all day long, year after year, for a lifetime.

Oxygen is not the only vital substance that the heart pumps through the body. Hormones secreted by the pituitary gland, by the adrenal glands, by the thyroid, and by other glands are carried to every cell in the body. So are the products of digestion, such as glucose, vitamins and enzymes.

Blood does not randomly flow through the body, of course. It flows systematically through a seemingly endless series of arteries and veins. When oxygen enriched blood leaves the heart, it flows through large arteries and smaller arteries, and then through the very small arterioles. The arterioles give way t the tiny capillaries. Only when the blood has reached capillaries does it exchange its oxygen for carbon dioxide. At this point, the blood begins its journey back to the heart. For capillaries to venules to veins, the blood flows through ever widening pipes back to the heart.

The arterial vessels carrying freshly oxygenated blood from the heart can be viewed as life giver in this ital exchange; they bring oxygen, nutrients,, hormones and other substances to the body’s tissues. The veins guiding the “used” blood back to the heart can be viewed as the garbage disposal part of the system.

The Simple Formula

In medical school, doctors learn a simple formula: blood Pressure = Cardiac output x arterial Resistance. This means that your blood pressure level depends on how much blood the heart pumps per unit of time (cardiac output) and how difficult it is for the blood to move through the “pipes” (arterial resistance).

If your heart starts beating faster than normal, its output has increased. And greater cardiac output means increased blood pressure. Your heart is trying to move the blood through the “pipes” faster, and much work harder to do so. When it does this, your blood pressure increases.

When you exercise, your cardiac output and your blood pressure increase. In a young, healthy person, this increase is nothing to worry about. Eventually, the arteries relax, expand in size, and your blood pressure drops to normal.

But stress can also increase your cardiac output; it can make your heart beat harder and faster. In fact, stress may be a major cause of elevated blood pressure. When we are stressed, we may feel like nothing is going right, like we’re going to blow the big job, like we’re always behind. We feel that people are standing in your way, or we’re upset about being caught in traffic. When we’re stressed, the brain stimulates the sympathetic nervous system. In turn, the sympathetic nervous system prompts the adrenal medulla (the inside part of the adrenal glands) to pump out adrenaline like substances. This is turning increases the heart rate, and the strength of the beat. In other words, your thought alone can lead to increased cardiac output, which leads to higher blood pressure.

There’s a certain part of the brain, the hypothalamus, which we call the “pilot” of the brain because it controls so many body processes. The hypothalamus sits right above the pituitary gland. When the hypothalamus “reads” your negative thoughts and other signs of stress, it tells the pituitary to release a hormone called ACTH (adrenocorticotrophic hormone). ACTH then flows to the adrenal glands, where it directs them to release a number of hormones including some 42 varieties of cortisone. Amount other things; these hormones cause your body to retain salt and water. More fluid in the bloodstream means more work for the heart.

When stress is chronic, the blood vessels constrict (“tighten up”). Remember the equation, Blood Pressure = Cardiac output x Arterial Resistance? When the “pipes” get smaller, it’s harder for the blood flow thought them. Arterial resistance is increased, which means blood pressure goes up. Additionally, chronic stress changes the chemistry of the blood, making it more likely to clot. This means there’s great chance that a clot will form and lodge in a narrow artery in the heart, and cause heart attack; or it may lodge in the brain and lead to a stroke.

Having some stress in our lives is probably all right and may be helpful if it prompts us to action. Chronic stress, however, is hard on the heart.

Blood pressure = Cardiac Output x Arterial Resistance. It’s a simple formula. If you keep your heart working at normal speed and strength, if the resistance to the flow of blood through the arteries remains normal, everything will be fine. But if stress sets in motion the series of events that kicks your heart into high gear, and causes fluid retention and contracted arteries, your blood pressure will go up.

Cholesterol and Stress

Put your fist back up to your chest. Look down at the back of your fist. See the veins that are just beneath the skin? Imagine that these are your coronary arteries that supply fresh, oxygen rich blood to the heart muscle. Some of these vital arteries are only as wide as the tip of a pencil.

Let’s suppose that you’ve been eating a high fat, cholesterol rich diet and that some of your coronary arteries have narrowed not fatally so: a 50 percent blockage in this artery, a 60 or 75 percent narrowing in that. You can do reasonably well these kinds of blockages, unless stress causes cholesterol levels in the body to rise. Many studies have verified the relationship between stress and elevated cholesterol. If you throw people into ice cold water, their cholesterol will rise. If you threaten them, tell they’re going be fired, or tell them that they must take a difficult test, their cholesterol will go up.

Stress and elevated cholesterol are intimately related. Chronic anger, fear, “hurry-itis”, feelings that you are a failure, that life is out to get you; these thoughts increase blood pressure and cholesterol. Such thoughts can shorten your life. Cholesterol is more likely to be normal in people who have a positive, cheerful, confident, outlook on life.

Stress in the workplace

Work can be major source of stress. Specialists in the field of work induced disability now know that certain jobs are inherently stressful. Police work and fire fighting, for example, are highly stressful jobs; other kinds of work can also be stressful. Whether we are factory workers, clerks, attorneys, or chairmen of major companies, we often find ourselves under tremendous stress at work, on the way to work, and at home when we’re thinking about work.

For most of us, work related stress falls into two categories work overload and role conflict.

Work Overload: There are two types of work overload: Quantitative or qualitative. Quantitative work overload has to be with numbers: too many things to do in the day, too many thin phone calls to makes, too many orders to fill, too many boards to nail, too many clients to see. Too many things to do, in too little time. How often they are rushing around at work, trying to get everything done, but never quite succeeding? What is this doing to your heart, your body chemistry, your peace of mind and your health?

Qualitative work overload, on the other hand, has to do with standards that you cannot meet. You are called upon to perform beyond your ability. This happens when people are improperly trained. Or, you may be well qualified for one job, but find yourself promoted or transferred to a job that you aren’t as skilled at. The stress and frustration of trying to perform a different kind of work or to perform at higher levels, lead to work overload, mental distress and often physical disease.

It doesn’t take much overload to damage the heart. A study in the April edition of The New England Journal of Medicine reported on patients with coronary artery disease. The patients were asked to perform mental arithmetic, to complete a certain color word task, to give a speech, and to read aloud. The stress from these everyday tasks was enough to cause well motion abnormalities in many of the patients. (Wall motion abnormalities have to do with the way the heart muscle squeezes to pump blood).

Quantitative or qualitative work overload causes definite biochemical changes in the body, especially with respect to cholesterol levels. Many studies have shown the relationship between work overload and heart attacks, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, and other potentially fatal disorders.

Role Conflict: Role conflict occurs when two or more pressures are in conflict with one another. It generates stress that causes mental distress, and man lead to actual physical disease. Research has shown that long tern role conflict leads certain people to experience high cholesterol, elevated blood pressure, obesity, heart disease and other medical problems.

Release valve

The steam engine is a marvelous invention. Coal is burned in the engine, a steam forms and the steam is used to activate the turbines. Seam engines do a lot of work, and they all have a safety valve, just in case too much steam builds up inside the engine. It’s a great idea: let off the excess steam rather than risk damaging the machinery.

In our houses, stores, office buildings and factories, all the electrical circuits have build in circuit breakers or fuses. When there is an electrical overload, the fuses automatically blow, putting an immediate end to the overload before it can cause any damage.

It would be nice if we had a safety valve that let off excess and inappropriate stress. We don’t have a safety valve, but our bodies give us warning signals when trouble is brewing, when we are overloaded, or in conflict. The warnings may be seemingly minor problems such as headaches, neck ache, backaches or, the waning may be in form of heaviness in the chest, heart palpitations, or high blood pressure. The latter are more serious warnings, and must b corrected right away. Unfortunately, we don’t have a safety valve, and sometimes our warnings come too late. We should reduce the stress n our lives before these warning signals occur.

Healthy Thoughts, Healthy Heart

Every year thousands of peoples have a heart attack. Although some survive, for others a fatal heart attack was their only warning that anything was wrong. Since stress is so intimately related for ways to keep our stress level as low as possible.

Some stressors can be dealt with easily; we can change our diet and stop smoking, for example. And we can take nutrients that help protect us against the effects of environmental pollution and chemicals in our foods. But what can we do about traffic, work overload and the like? What if we can’t find a new job, or move to a city where there is little traffic? How do we handle the stress?

We learn a lesson from Epictetus, The Roman Philosopher (A.D. 55-135) who said: “I am upset not by events, but rather by the way I view them.”

With the single statement, Epictetus gave us a “medicine” for many of our ills. If we can’t eliminate every stressor in our lives, we can change our attitudes. May be we have to take a major highway to work, and maybe it’s always crowded. We can’t change the traffic, but we can learn t change our thoughts about the traffic. You see, alone control your thoughts. You, and only you, determine what your thoughts will b, whether positive or negative.

You have absolute control over your thoughts, and every thought in your head influence your body, your immune system, and your health. Beat “thought disease” by changing you thoughts. Remember that stress and your thoughts have a profound influence on your heart. Your stomach isn’t the only thing tied in knots by stress. Help your heart by keeping your thoughts as healthy, positive, happy, and optimistic as possible. Even when things are going wrong, even if you are overloaded at work, fill your mind with healthy thoughts. Your healthy thoughts may not change your unhappy work situation, but they will most certainly help protect your heart from the ravages of stress.

Be a Student of Many Masters! The Importance of Putting Self Growth First

This article will be published in the October 2006 Anniversary Edition of " The Network Marketing Magazine ". I thought the topic of this article especially fitting since, every month The NM Magazine provides a cornucopia of topics, teachers and styles, the perfect venue for those that enjoy "diversity and freshness in perspective"!

At a young age I made an important decision and a promise to myself. With a voracity for learning and a fascination for "how things worked", I told myself that anything I read or participated in going forward, would be for my learning … and fun. This decision was born out of many years of reading fiction and school texts, I was at a place where my "stories" lacked "challenge" and they did not seem to answer many of the important questions that were coming up for me at the time. So I started visiting different parts of the library and bookstore … and found a way to attend college, which I did while working full time for almost 10 years.

When I made that decision early on, my Masters were in the pages of books … I did not have the role models and mentors in my life to teach me the things I read about in books … my college courses were more technical in nature, the authors of my books became my early mentors and models.

At the same time, Network Marketing and various other opportunities were presenting them all around me in one form or another, it was not until many years later I figured out how well building a business and self-development went so "hand-in- hand "together, and I discovered my true love for networking and assisting others in developing their business – and consequentially themselves.

I now have a deep respect for the value of focusing on my own growth and hold my commitment to learning as solely responsible for the success and abundance I enjoy today! Priority is on self-awareness and putting my self in situations where I need to stretch or step out of my comfort zone … the end result is a life of simplicity and ease and everything else seemingly taking care of itself! You have heard,

"Your business will grow as fast as you do."

yes? Take it to heart.

Make your development # 1 priority and everything else will "flow and grow"!

A dozen years ago I read one "far out" book that started me on a journey of learning that forked extremely from the road I had previously been on. I say "far out" because this particular book was a refreshing new perspective from that which I had been reading – and enjoy the irony with me – a work of fiction. An adventure story based on self-awareness concepts, not only did it make sense, it seemed to resonate as "truth" in every cell of my body. All the way through the book I kept asking myself, "Is this real or fiction?" Either way, this one book had me considering some new things "possible", and opened my mind to the fact that there were some fascinating and fun subjects I had not considered before.

One of the greatest things I ever did for myself was to explore a wide variety of different teachings and a variety array of "Masters". I am like a kid in a candy shop at the bookstore, to choose a book I always rely on my intuition and faith in the Universe to present me with whatever I need most at the time. I set my intentions upon entering into a seminar or workshop in a similar fashion. I stay open to what it is I am to learn or confirm the most, I'm never disappointed and I always take inventory of what I learned when it was done and hold huge appreciation for the lessons – no matter how painful it may have been to learn them. I was always – and still am uncomfortable – settling into one particular way of seeing something – there are as many angles of "perspective" on life as there are people perceiving it.

I have also discovered that my own perspective is "moveable" and changes as I allow for more to enter into my experience.

At first, as I ventured out into unfamiliar territory, it appeared that I often bumped into something about a belief system I did not like or understand. Usually over time, with a new discipline in watching where my focus is, I learned to focus on what it is I appreciate about a certain set of beliefs as taught through a Master – keep what works for me and toss what does not. It is a paradoxical place between being detached from the incoming data and at the same time paying close attention to what feels good and what does not.

One of my favorite Masters is famous for saying,

"Do not believe a word I say."

He says this because his teaching comes from his perspective only. I take the basic lessons from his experience and fit them into mine. Doing this eliminates the need for or use of words like 'right' or 'wrong', 'good' or 'bad'. It's simply a matter of "What works for me?" and "What does not work for me?" The ultimate question being, "How can I make things better?"

Studying many different belief systems, techniques and perspectives allows me to really zero in on what I prefer and practice. By studying with many Masters I have learned to get to the underlying concepts, values and perspectives of the material that they are presenting and inevitably, every time I end up at a place where their information fits quite nicely with what I already "know". Anything I do not understand is out of context or out of my current level of understanding. If I go back and re-read a book or listen to an audio I read or listened to 2 years ago, I hear a whole different message and brand new information catches my attention … or, I suddenly have a place to put the information I did not resonate with before. My growth continuously has me re-framing previous data. It is the essence of the famous quote by Einstein,

"We can not solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them."

As we take new-found information and put it to work in our consciousness and our lives, we grow … and suddenly those things we did not understand 2 years ago now totally make sense and we have a place to fit the new information in an empowering and serving way. Today I am in huge appreciation if I take even 1 golden nugget or "aha" from something I'm reading or listening to – sometimes that 1 golden nugget can cause a shift in my perspective that ripples through my entire understanding of myself and the world around me! I continue on with an expanded view and a larger bucket for collecting new and empowering data.

A key benefit of studying many belief sets and masters is that that makes us more "relatable" – both to others and to our Selves.

Reality is personal for each and every one of us, I can "allow" for another to believe what they believe and still feel a connection to them through underlying values and a common set of beliefs – we do not have to agree on everything to get along! What's working for them is working for them. It might not work for me. The amount of contrast between our perspectives usually determines how much time and energy we invest in the relationship … an important aspect to have clarity on when working with many different people like we do in the referral-based marketing business.

Probably the best place to study one's Self is through the interaction with and observing the actions of others.

Every person in my experience is a mirror for my learning about "Me," they're in my reality to reflect the best (and the worst) of Me.

My greatest gifts of learning have been through the feedback of others. I now give and take my feedback as I do all other learning … gather the data from a detached emotional place and pay attention to my inner guidance as to what feels good and what feels not-so-good. It's my choice – and responsibility – to accept what works and set what what does not.

Sometimes through trying things on, implementing a new tool or creating new habits and replacing old habits, we hone our preferences and always have a set of values and rules to personally operate from – with integrity.

It's my belief that every experience and every interaction with others is for our learning pleasure!

Stay open to what presents itself to you and how.

Know that everything happens for a reason and that what you focus upon expands – always, no exceptions!

Grow yourself and your relationship to the world around you and watch your life grow in some entertaining and magical ways! The more you know the more choices you have and the more value you have to offer others.

Get used to the exhilaration of "shifted perspective", know that change is inevitable and everything – especially our awareness – is always expanding!

Invest in YOU first, follow your bliss and expect miracles – they're there if you look for them!

Happy Learning & Growing …

Primary Peritoneal Cancer – Why Every Woman Needs to Know About This Disease Or Else

Primary Peritoneal Cancer is a rare form of cancer (also known as peritoneal adenocarcinoma) that originates in the peritoneum, a thin sheet of fine lines inside the abdomen and covers the uterus and extends over the bladder and rectum. The peritoneum is comprised of epithelial cells. By producing a lubricating fluid, peritoneum, this helps organs move smoothly in the pelvic cavity. Primary peritoneal cancer looks and behaves like ovarian cancer but the ovaries are minimally involved. Women who develop symptoms of ovarian cancer unfortunately will probably end up with primary peritoneal cancer.

Ovarian cancer is a disease in which malignant cells are found in the ovary. There are three types of ovarian tumors: epithelial cells, germ cells and the stromal cells. The cause of ovarian cancer is unknown but there are certain risk factors that indicate an increased likelihood of a woman in developing ovarian cancer metastasis. A risk factor is anything that may increase a person's chance of developing a disease. The following have been proposed as risk factors for ovarian cancer:

  • Early menstruation – starting periods at an early age usually before age 12
  • Late menopause (after 52 years of age)
  • Hormone Replacement Therapy
  • Infertility (inability to get pregnant)
  • Having a first child after age 30
  • Personal history of breast cancer or colon cancer
  • Family history of ovarian cancer
  • Some fertility drugs
  • Exposure to asbestos development into mesothelioma tumor which affects the abdominal cavity.

The diagnosis of primary peritoneal cancer consists of the following different exams:

  • Pelvic Exam
  • Ultrasound
  • Determination of CA-125 (a blood test to measure the level of CA-125 CA-125 is a protein also known as a tumor marker that is often found in greater concentrations in the blood of women suffering from ovarian cancer or cancer peritoneal)
  • Computed Tomography (CT)
  • Lower GI or barium enema (a series of X-rays of the colon and rectum. abnormal areas easier to see and detect)
  • Biopsy

The treatment for Primary Peritoneal Cancer depends on several factors, including: the stage of the cancer, the amount of it and the patients overall health. The treatment is a combination of the following methods; surgery, intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy, supportive care (which is directed to the symptoms, including pain relief, weight loss and fluid in the abdomen, which can be removed during a procedure called abdominal paracentesis)

Finally we have the preventive measures recommended by doctors that include: a healthy diet (high in fruits, vegetables, grains and low in saturated fats), birth control pills, pregnancy and lactation and eventually if the person is presenting some symptoms of ovarian cancer the removal of the ovaries. Also studies have shown that certain genes are responsible for increasing the risk of ovarian and breast cancer. A routine inspection for gynecological cancers can prevent or diagnose at an early stage the presence of tumors. Your doctor will eventually decide what treatments to carry out to help fight primary peritoneal cancer.

How to Lose Your Man Boobs Fast

If you suffer from this problem, you can probably refer to people who are self-conscious about their man boobs. It can cause you to avoid certain social situations where you might have to take your shirt off. If you have ever been at a pool party and watched everyone else dive in while you have to sit on the deck and observe, you'll know what this is all about.

The technical term for this is gynecomastia. Calling it by a different name does not make it any easier, and if you want to do something about it the good news is that you can. Of course, diet and exercise will give you some results. By lowering your body fat it will make it easier to get rid of the excess tissue that you have in the breast area.

There are different schools of thought when it comes to spot training. This is the practice of working out muscles in a specific area of the body in order to tone it. You can work your chest and it will help to lift the chest and may help to reduce the amount of fat cells in that area. Some experts say that this does not work but it certainly can not hurt.

On top of doing this, it helps to get a product that specifically addresses the adipose tissue that is found in the breast area. As with many things, the most effective solution is going to include a number of different things, and having a little help is going to help you see results faster and make them more profound.

There is also a mental element that goes along with using a good supplement. When you start to see results, you are going to be more likely to stick with the program. In most cases, you'll have to do it a few times a day so it helps to get a pillbox or something that you can use to carry them if you do not want people to know what you're doing.

If you go to look for a product, make sure that they have a guarantee and that that can give you the peace of mind you need to go ahead and make a change. Look for a product that will ship discreetly, and nobody has to know what you're doing. Just make sure to bring your bathing suit to the next pool party!

Wait: There is something you need to know before you try to lose your man boobs …

I-Assist Guided Verilast Knee Replacement – Knee Replacement That Lasts for 30 Years

Case Report

Ms Payal, a thirty two year lady from Gujarat was suffering from a rare condition called 'Avascular necrosis' of the knee and had suffered extensive damage. Although, she was very young for a knee replacement, the amount of the damage left no option for the surgeon.

He decided to go ahead with a knee replacement procedure using the Verilast CR knee and the I-Assist. It was for the first time in the world that the I-Assist tool was used to implant a Verilast knee. The I-Assist tool uses electronic components in a palm sized device. With this, the surgeon can align and validate implant position during the knee replacement.

After the procedure, the patient was very happy with the results.

About the Verilast Knee Technology

The durability of the Legion CR knee with Verilast technology is based on laboratory testing.

In a laboratory, the LEGION CR knee with VERILAST Technology was compared with a similar knee made from conventional materials (cobalt chrome and standard plastic). The results showed that after five million cycles, or simulated steps, the LEGION CR knee reduced 98 percent of the wear experienced by the other knee made of conventional materials. After 45 million cycles, it was noted with the LEGION CR knee with Verilast technology, that the wear reduced to 81% in comparison to the conventional knee implant. That's equal to around 30 years of actual use.

VERILAST technology uses advanced, low-friction surfaces on both sides of the joint, the femur bone of the thigh, and the tibia bone of the leg. It combines Smith & Nephew's award-winning OXINIUM Oxidized Zirconium metal alloy and a "cross-linked" plastic component (XLPE), which together has been proved in the laboratory to double the wear of a conventional knee.

OXINIUM ™, Oxidized Zirconium is a tough, smooth metal with a ceramic surface 4,900 times more abrasion resistant and 20 percent lighter than the cobalt chrome metal used in conventional implants.

· The ceramic surface is created through a manufacturing process where oxygen is naturally diffused into the zirconium metal as it is heated in air. The original metal surface is transformed into a ceramic coating which is integrated with and part of the underlying metal; It is not an externally applied coating.

· With no detectable amount of nickel, the metal most associated with allergies, OXINIUM ™ is a biocompatible material for implants.

· This proprietary material has been used in more than 250,000 knee implants.

About the I-Assist Smart Tool

'I-Assist' is a smart tool designed to improve the accuracy of a total knee replacement. It assists the surgeon in aligning knee implants to each person's unique anatomy. The income is very predictable as perfect alignment is achieved intraoperatively and raises the chances of favorable outcomes. Perfect alignment correlates positively with survivorship or durability of the implant.

Which type of knee replacement patients' benefit most from this combined technology ?

It is of great value primarily to young patients undergoing total knee replacement. The durability of a knee replacement is dependent upon the alignment. As younger patients will survive longer after a knee replacement, it is crucial to get the first knee replacement perfectly aligned. There is a correlation between the alignment and survivorship of the implant. This will reduce the need for a redo or revision knee replacement. Revision operations are difficult and expensive.

In addition, a sizeable number of these young patients have additional complications that make a knee replacement difficult. Mal-united thigh and leg fractures secondary to previous accidents rule out the use of traditional instruments. Bony deformities inside and outside the knee prelude use of all other modes of instrumentation and navigation.

Before this novel procedure, surgeons used "Patient specific instruments' and 'computer navigation' to implant the Verilast knee. These are not applicable to difficult primary knees with bone loss.

The 'I-Assist' system is the only system that allows accurate alignment in these complicated and difficult cases.

In summary, the I-Assist tool allows the full survivorship potential of the Verilast CR Oxinium ™ knee to be harnessed in primary and difficult cases. Young patients can return to their normal lives without the fear of a redo or revision surgery later on in their lives.

Anti-Aging Exercise – Dr Oz 'Top Tips For Longevity and a Healthier Stronger Body

Anti aging exercise or exercise to help your longevity to help strengthen your muscle tissue and bones is one of the most common ways to get more than an extra decade out of your life. One of the most common deaths among people over 75 years plus is a simple fall or trip, which if your bones are brittle, will easily fracture or break.

Dr Oz, resident Doctor on the Oprah Winfrey show observed the research conducted by the National Geographic magazine where studies were carried out over a 7 year period into the blue zones, or hot zones around the globe, where people far exceeded living 100 years plus.

One of the four blue zones was located in Sardinia, 120 miles south of Italy, where this beautiful island is known for the world's largest population of male centenarians . Studies revealed that what contributed to their longevity was their daily exercise accompanied with their diet, rich in sardines, goats milk, pecorino cheese and the red wine resveratrol effect.

Sardines have omega 3 in them, key minerals with lots of iron which strengthens your blood and heart. Research has also shown that it could potentially protect against heart disease and Alzheimer's and the goat's milk is extremely high in calcium and great for your bones.

The pecorino cheese in Sardinia is well known for being rich in omega 3 fatty acids too, made from grass-fed cow's milk, you get an extra dose of omega 3. If you add a chunk of cheese with a slice of whole grain bread, you've got a Sardinian snack with some longevity.

The majority of Sardinian men also spend much of their life outdoors. Absorbing natural Vitamin D is crucial to strengthening your organs and the daily exercise for most may be goat herding or farming. Both are low impact sports which will burn the calories like wild fire.

The hidden secret however which Doctors have disclosed attributes to the anti-aging process is what's known as the resveratrol effect. ResV as it's also known best can be described as an artery scrubber.Found in the skin of the grape, resveratrol is a fungi which forms naturally as deterrent to fight of bacteria so as to keep the grape healthy.

Sardinian wine has approximately three times the strength of resveratrol in it than wine bought in your local supermarket as grapes are now farming using pesticides which eliminates the natural production of resveratrol, and therefore without it's naturally made as it is in Sardinia, there will be almost no volume of ResV in the bottle.

Fortunately, after three years of medical research into anti aging exercise ResV is now sold in the bottle. Each bottle contains 60 tabs and one bottle is the equivalent to 1000 bottles of Sardinian red wine so the concentration is obviously high.
