We all have to deal with stress and anxiety in our normal, day to day lives. Statistics show that at least one out of every seventy five people who inhabit the world will experience at least one major anxiety attack during their lifetime. Studies have also shown that seventy-five percent of anxiety attack sufferers are women between the ages of twenty and thirty years old. Once an anxiety attack begins, it usually reaches its peak after about the first two minutes. Depending on the severity of the attack, it can take as long as several hours for all the symptoms to completely disappear. Many of the symptoms accompanying an anxiety attack can be extremely frightening on their own, but coupled with the fear you already feel from the attack itself, can be very overwhelming, especially the first time they occur.

Anxiety attacks can cause any number of symptoms, which can cause fear themselves, let alone the original fear caused by the attack. One of the most common symptoms accompaniment anxiety attacks is the feeling that you are suffocating, or can not get enough air to breathe. You may feel like you can not hold anymore air, but that what you have is not enough, or that someone is actually holding something over your nose and mouth shutting off your air supply. Due to the anxiety your body feels during an attack, it will release extra adrenaline into your bloodstream, which will cause your heart to beat at a much faster pace, and it may feel as though it is beating at an irregular rhythm or missing beats altogether . You are not having a heart attack, this is just another symptom caused by anxiety attacks. Sometimes, anxiety has the opposite effect on your heart, slowing it down, which can be alarming as it feels as though it may stop beating altogether, but again, it is just a reaction to the anxiety your body is experiencing. It will go away once the attack subsides.

During an anxiety attack, it is common for all of the muscles in your body to contract, or become tense. This muscle tension incidentally causes chest pain during an anxiety attack. When someone experiences any kind of chest pain, their first thought is that they are having a heart attack, but that is not the case in this situation. The pain that you feel with a heart attack most often will begin as localized pain in a different area of ​​your body, such as pain in your left arm that radiates into your chest. Learning some relaxation exercises that you can use to calm yourself during an anxiety attack can help lessen this chest pain. You may feel that you are choking, and can not swallow anything at all without it getting stuck in your throat. It is not uncommon to sweat profusely during an anxiety attack. Your body temperature increases due to the adrenaline your body releases, and sweat is your body's way of lowering your temperature to a normal range.

Other common symptoms during an anxiety attack include tremors, pain in the neck or shoulders, nausea or diarrhea, heartburn, and sometimes unusual breakouts of skin rashes, such as eczema. Almost all of these symptoms will disappear shortly after the attack is over, and you may not experience any of these symptoms at all. Learning to recognize the changes that take place in your body during an anxiety attack, will help you be better prepared should you ever have another occurrence.

Secrets To Keeping Your Car Looking Like New For 10 Years

Most personal finance experts would agree that keeping your vehicle for up to 10 years is a good economical decision. The economics of keeping a vehicle that long are overwhelmingly convincing. So why is it so rare to find someone who owns the same car that long? After all, today most cars will keep working long after a couple hundred thousand miles. So, why do people keep buying a new car when there is nothing wrong with the one they have? Peer pressure? Maybe it looks out of date? This might be true, especially when the new edition undergoes major styling changes. Maybe it is because people start worrying about the likelihood of a major mechanical problem.

We have found that if you can keep it looking new through a proven strategy it will be much more difficult to make that new car purchase. So what can be done to slow down the aging process? How can a car be used on a regular basis and not age. There is no one particular activity, but rather several things that contribute to a common goal. The following is a list of ways to keep the appearance of your car looking like new.

1. By far, the number one way to keep your vehicle looking like new is to KEEP IT IN THE GARAGE AT NIGHT. Most people think the damage results from the grueling midday heat and dust that bake the dirt into the paint and plastic, however, the most destructive time is at night, when the cool moisture condensates on the surface of the car. This is the source of the problem. We live in a basin here in Los Angeles which is packed with automobiles moving about all day. The exhaust, pollution and road grime, rise up into the atmosphere during the hot days and are suspended there until the cool sea air moves in and captures the pollution in the moisture that will condensate on the car. That morning dew sitting on the horizontal surfaces of the vehicle is a sulfur /acidy toxic cocktail of all the junk in our air. It eats into the paint, the trim around the doors, yellows headlights and destroys the rubber parts. No test lab can recreate that! The moisture is not horribly bad, but if this process is done every night for 5 to 8 years, it will take its toll on the exterior.

2. Keep the vehicle under an overhang at night. The next best thing to a garage would be to keep the vehicle from getting dew on it at night. Reread the reason in the paragraph above. The next best long term protection is the overhang. (Car covers are helpful when the vehicle will sit at the airport for 2 weeks or in your driveway for a week. As a daily defense, it is a good idea, but with time it is a hassle as well as too dirty to put on the car. )

3. Regular waxing. Regular waxing is every 3 to 4 months or every 5,000 miles. So by the time your vehicle has 20,000 miles on it, it should have 4 coats of wax. Waxing gives the car a micro thin layer of protection from the elements. As the vehicle gets older, the attention to the exterior should increase. Occasionally, the paint should be polished to restore clarity to the surface. Polishing the paint every 1 1/2 years or ever 15,000 miles will increase the life of the wax, and maintain the paint in top condition.

4. Regular washes on the exterior will keep the vehicle free of dust and contaminants. The longer dirt and dust sit on the paint, the more likely it will start to adhere to the surface.

5. Paint protection film by 3M is the best way to keep the paint rock chip free. By applying this film to the bumper and hood, it will defend the original vehicle paint from damage. This film is removable and does not have any long term effect to the paint. Conceivably, this film could be removed in 10 years after installation, and the paint would look like the day it came off the assembly line. Truly the best long term solution for the everyday driver.

6. Window tint. Protect the interior from fading and drying out with a lifetime warranty film. During the day, the vehicles interior is vulnerable to the harmful effects of the suns UV Rays. Window tint blocks out 100% of the ultraviolet rays. It also reduces the internal heat and cuts down on glare. With regular interior detailing and window tint, the interior will look like the day it was installed. Also, window tint improves the comfort of the passenger and drivers.

7. Biannual cleaning of the motor will ensure proper visibility of fluid levels. It can improve preventative maintenance inspection and keeps the motor running cooler. Furthermore, mechanics respect a clean motor and are more likely to clean up after themselves.

8. Periodic removal of small door dings and dents. The cost of keeping your doors “ding” free is really reasonable and the process of Paintless Dent Removal is non invasive. It is impossible to keep a daily driver from eventually getting a door ding, but the good news is that they can be messaged out and restored to its original position. No painting or bondo is necessary and the vehicle maintains its original factory paint.

How To Recover After A Skateboarding Session

If you’re like me, you love to skate. A two to three hour session at your local park isn’t uncommon, and it leaves you feeling amazing. People skate for all types of reasons, but it goes without saying that the health benefits you stand to gain from skateboarding like feeling amazing after exercise, and the challenge and rewards available make us keep wanting more. The problem I face, and a lot of other skaters face is the soreness and aching after a session. This can be especially apparent the next day. Some skaters deal with it differently than others. Some people seem immune to the pain and can wake up every day and go skate like crazy, no matter how beat up they got the day before. For the rest of us, here are some solid tips to getting the most out of your skate sessions without feeling beat up the next day.

Skate more often: It may seem counterintuitive at first, but skateboarding is like any physical activity. If you don’t do it for a while then your body has a harder time getting used to the abuse. Some people live in a climate that is cold and rainy during the winter, so they stop skating for a few months until it gets warm again. Then come spring time their body isn’t used to all the banging around and goes through a phase of soreness for a while before it can adapt itself again. If you ride your skateboard more often, your body will stay adapted to the abuse, and it won’t hurt as much after a session. This doesn’t mean going out every day to jump down a 20 stair because you’ll get better at it. This kind of abuse can lead to serious injuries, but if you skate a little bit every day, and work on progressing through your learning curves while maintaining a positive attitude, you will have a better time and get more enjoyment out of it.

Stretching before and after your sessions: It’s easy to get in a couple of toe touches and butterflies just after you start skating hard, and just after you stop skating. In fact, if you don’t make time for stretching, you will have to make time for injuries and soreness later on. Pro skaters do it all the time. They have to compete, film, and jump down huge things all the time to make money, so they learn from the best physical trainers in the world. Those physical trainers will teach you first that in order to avoid injuries while working out, you must learn to stretch. If you haven’t stretched much recently, it’s OK. Start now, and take it slow. Stretch in the morning when you wake up, in the afternoon, just after you get warmed up skating and just after your skate sesh, then stretch again before bed. This much stretching throughout the day will make your body loose and limber, and will help blood and oxygen flow through your muscles and joints, repairing them faster. It’s also a great idea to stretch your upper body like your neck, back and arms.

Doing a warm-down: Just as warming-up is important in skating to ensure you don’t fall when you first start skating, warming-down is important to ensure your muscles have a moment to decompress. To do a warm-down, do some light walking. I usually walk around the skate park after I’m done skating. This can be combined with filming your friends or taking pictures if you’re a photographer. It will help get the blood flowing to your joints for some added recovery.

Eat or drink lots of protein after a sesh: I read lots of blogs and forums about people looking for the best recovery methods, and this one is the same throughout. You must eat or drink lots of protein, 30-50 grams, immediately following a workout, along with coconut water or Gatorade. Your body needs the protein to rebuild the muscle, and the energy drink will replenish glycogen levels and raise insulin levels. Insulin can help restore muscle proteins by inhibiting protein breakdown and stimulating protein synthesis. Since I am vegan, I recommend a plant-based protein shake. You can find these at your local sprouts, whole foods, or online at Granted, they aren’t cheap, but if you really don’t want to feel as sore after a skate session, they might be worth a try. Also, eating or drinking potassium rich substances after a workout will help replenish spent reserves. Coconut water has lots of potassium in it, making it an excellent post workout drink. I get mine at the local 99 cents store to save money. Make sure to get the one without any added sugar. Your body also needs things like sodium and calcium to refuel muscle energy. Bananas and sweet potatoes are great sources of potassium, sodium and calcium. Add these to your post-skate session meals and you’ll feel better in no time. Also, grapes and cherries have antioxidants in them that help your body relieve soreness in your joints. Another tip is to take fish oil or flax seed oil pills. The omega-3, 6 and 9 do wonders for lubricating your joints.

Get better sleep: Sleep is essential to rebuilding muscles, joints and tendons. If you stay up late partying or watching TV after skate sessions, you won’t get the benefits that sleep offers. To make the most out of your Z’s, get at least 8-9 hours of sleep every night. If you’re like me and have trouble falling asleep, you can try to take an herbal supplement like melatonin or valerian root (I found a supplement called ‘relax & sleep’ at my local Dollar Tree). Drinking a hot cup of chamomile tea will also help. Additionally, committing yourself to a ‘technology-blackout’ after 9 pm every night will help you get to bed easier. Whatever it takes, get the sleep you need to recoup and you’ll be able to skate every day at to your fullest potential!

Reduce stress: Acute stress, like the type you get from exercising, is good for you. Chronic stress, like when you don’t get enough sleep, or when you have a paper due at school, is not good for you. To recover completely from your skate sessions in the fastest way possible, make time to do stress-relieving exercises like short hikes, hanging out with friends, and riding a bicycle. These are all things known as active-recovery, and can go a long ways in helping you recover mentally from a hard skate session. Getting social with good friends and laughing are the best ways to relieve stress.

Ice, then take a hot bath: Icing your ankles after a skate session for 10-15 minutes, then bathing in hot water will relax your muscles and make it easier for them to recover the next day. The icing reduces swelling that might happen if you landed on your ankles really hard, and the hot water relieves the tension in your muscles making it easier for blood to move through them. Combined with an after workout stretch, icing and a hot bath can be an excellent way to recover after a skate session.

Body weight squats: Doing proper body weight squats during the day and between skate session will strengthen the connective tissue around your joints, and in effect you’ll have more stability around the joints in your ankles, hips and pelvis. First you’ll want to learn how to do proper body weight squats.

I hope these tips help you have more fun with skateboarding. No doubt it can be very painful at times, but it’s overcoming our personal challenges and getting the reward of rolling away from a trick that make it all worth it. I love skateboarding, and I’m sure you do to. That’s why if it was up to me, I would skate all day every day. However, as we age our bodies don’t recover as quickly, but if you take these 5 tips to heart, maybe your recoveries will be faster, and you’ll be out skating again in no time!

Attention Deficit Disorder – Do you feel alone?

It can be difficult growing up with attention deficit disorder . Many of us feel like we have let the whole world down; friends, family, teachers, significant others, and most importantly, ourselves. In school we were given assignments; we would try our best to accomplish them and usually found something more exciting that got our attention. When it came time to hand in the work, it was not done. Once again, we see the disappointed look on the teacher's face we came to know so well. In class, we were either, bouncing off the walls, bugging kids, or being the class clown. Sometimes, depending on what type of attention deficiency disorder we had, we were sitting quietly in a corner, staring out the window, mentally disappearing without anyone noticing. Then came test time. If we could manage to sit still long enough and focus on the dry material, we studied twice as hard as a lot of our class mates only to end up barely passing, or failing the test. This was the same routine over and over again. This became all that we knew. The thoughts of being a failure, a disappointment, grow and grow. The self esteem was now, at an all time low.

As we grow older, it did not get much easier. Sure, a few management tips were developed along the way, but the underlying effects ADD played on us were still there. Now, work and relationships begin to develop. We were learning new management skills to handle those situations. In the work place we could not figure out why we kept fighting and disagreeing with the boss. Why we seemed to go from job, to job, to job. Meanwhile we get into relationships that seem to end before they start. Its not that we do not care about the person, it's just we have problems listening, focusing and communicating.

Second Diabetic Diet Plan

The second diet involves a breakfast containing 2 egg whites and one whole scrambled egg. It may also contain one whole wheat English muffin with 1 teaspoon margarine and a melon slice.

Midmorning snack incorporates 6 ounces yogurt with c cup low fat granola. The lunch carries 2 slices of whole grain bread and 2 ounces of chicken or turkey. This is served with lettuce leaves, tomato slices and slices of cheese. After lunch gestational diabetic woman can take a tablespoon of low fat milk and an apple.
Mid-afternoon snack includes 1/4 cup hummus and 1 cup raw vegetables. The evening snack incorporates a smoothie. This smoothie is prepared with one cup reduced fat milk and c cup strawberries.
Dinner includes 5 ounces of grilled chicken with one cup steamed carrots. It also contains a medium sized baked or steamed sweet potato served with 2 tablespoon sour cream.

These two gestational diabetes diet plans help the women to control the level of blood sugar.

Obesity and the Truth About Six Pack Abs – The Best Hack I Learned From Mike Geary

While they "might" be genetically gifted, the truth is that they have to be very lean to have their abs exposed, and the only thing that gets the abs exposed, or keeps them exposed is a low body fat percentage.

He is honest when he states that some men can start to see the ridges in their abdominal muscles around 10-12 percent, with that six or eight pack showing at 4-8 percent. He is also very upfront stating that it is very difficult for most people to stay that low in body fat percentage. Women generally can look trim in the 14-16 percent range, where they looked shredded at 8-10 percent, based on the difference in body fat distribution. But again, he emphasizes that no amount of exercise can get you there, if your diet is not dialed in.

And while I, admittedly, have not attained the elusive 8-10 percent body fat (YET) to see my abdominal muscles, Mike's Truth about Six Pack Abs, and his sincerity in helping people realize that diet is the key to making it happen – not some special exercise, supplement or powder, really helps me to realize I can get there too; even at 45 years of age, if I keep focusing on what and how I am eating.

Dr. Shahar notes that top performers in every area may be disappointed when they fall short of their high expectations, but they do not get paralyzed by fear of possible failure. And when they do fail, as everyone does sometimes, they accept it; they don’t catastrophize failure, as in “I screwed up that line, so they’re going to fire me.”

Being highly talented and accomplished does not prevent feeling anxiety and insecurity.

Nicole Kidman has admitted, “Every time I star in a film, I think I cannot act. I’ve tried to pull out of almost every one I’ve done because of sheer terror.”

Women are Braver Than Men

Women are, in fact, a great deal braver than men. A particularly infuriating male friend recently remarked that women needed men to lean upon, needing the support of the stronger sex in difficulties and so on and so forth, until I was ready to scream. I was hospitalized once for a minor operation. In the recovery stage I was able to walk to the end of the ward and socialize in the patient's dayroom with some of the other inmates of the opposition ward. There were women there who had undergone hysterectomies only the day before but bravely staggering around the corridors, pulling a drip stand along behind them, every step an agony. Sitting on the sofa were two men, both of which got up to offer the ladies a seat, comparing dresses on their respective ingrown toenails and complaining about the agonies they had gone through.

Breast Cancer: Knowing The Causes and Risk Factors

The breast is one of the vital organs of the body located on the frontiers of the pectoral muscles that shields the rib cage of the body. However, it must be reckoned that this family record, is not a panacea for developing the disease since studies have revealed that some women with this family record never developed cancers throughout their lives. It is equally intriguing to know of females who have developed cancers but never had any familial breast cancer history.
