The Signs and Symptoms of a Sinus Infection

Having a sinus infection is one of the most painful things that a person can go through. Yes, there are some other things that are more painful, but the misery that seems to go through me when I have a sinus infection is almost beyond words. The first time I had a sinus infection I did not know the signs and symptoms of a sinus infection and I ended up letting it go on for much longer than it really should have, trying to deal with it using over the counter pain killers from the drug store and not knowing why it just kept getting worse. If you are suffering and wondering what the signs and symptoms of a sinus infection are then here is how I recognized the one I had.

Typically they will start with a pressure that is felt in the forehead, behind the eyes and at the bridge of the nose, as well as in the cheeks close to the nose. The pain can also travel into the ears as well as the mouth and teeth. The pressure either came with a headache, or was soon accompanied by a headache that great until it was almost unbearable. I also had other signs of infection, chills, fever and a general discomfort, when I felt it through the headache. So what did I do to overcome the problem?

There are many different natural cures for sinus infections, but for me I found that using a netipot every day did wonders. The netipot is a way of nasal irrigation that will clean your sinuses out and get rid of a lot of junk that just seems to impact and accumulate in the sinus cavities.

Hitting the Ground Running Can Get You into Trouble

It's common when starting a new job to be told that you need to "hit the ground running." Experienced people who appear in the job market after their companies have downsized often hear this. The expectation is that since since they bring connections, experience, and other intangible assets to a new job, they do not need time to learn the new culture and the players. The temptation on hearing this is to dive in with all your energy, ready to make an amazing first impression. After all, you do need to prove yourself. Although your boss may be satisfied, that attitude can get you into trouble in more ways than one.

The main problem with hitting the ground running is that you do not know what you're running into. Will your actions make waves among your new coworkers, will you rock the company boat in general, or will you even, in your eagerness, perform in a way that will have long-term disadvantages you can not see at first? By the time you do, it can be too late. As a newcomer to the role, you are put in a volatile position where you lack foreknowledge of the situation and must rely on your bosses to tell you what needs doing. However, there is no guarantee that they have this fully figured out. People see a situation from their own vantage point and may be unintentionally blind to other perspectives. You now have the dilemma of how to make a good first impression yet not step on toes.

Senior management may see the situation from a dollars-and-cents perspective and not understand what's happening on the ground. That's what happened to Leroy. He was an experienced oil field manager when he was asked to come in and save money on an offshore operation. He came into the job and immediately found big cost savings by substituting work boats for helicopters to get the workers to and from oil rigs offshore. What he did not do is take the time to check on how the old hands would react to the change. They saw the change as a loss of almost two days of their "week off" time with their families since they worked week on / week off. They were so furious that they staged a work slowdown action and called in a union. The result was a backlash and bad publicity that could have been prevented by a bit of groundwork.

Before you dive in, no matter what the pressure, it pays to take time to do the groundwork – to carefully read the files and review the situation by talking with people. You are illegally to get the chance again. You have to ask for the perspective of others, not just that of your boss.
Far from impressing your coworkers, coming into a job at a fast pace can actually upset them. Employees on assembly lines who worked too fast were called "rate busters," and factory managers hate the repercussions from the reaction to them. You may be far from a factory, but you can still upset people by pushing too hard and too fast without getting buy-in. Colleagues may fear that you will show them up by making them appear slow in comparison. You can also miss out on opportunities to tap into their thinking about the project. Without early collaboration, it will be hard to get their buy-in and support later on. There are few organizations where it is possible to get things done as an individual contributor beyond the lowest levels of the hierarchy.
More often than not, "hit the ground running" is a piece of corporate-speak masking hidden flaws in the company. Be particularly wary if the phrase is accommodated by requests to "get in there and fix things" or "clean things up." Such terms hint that something is missing organizationally. If your job is in a state where there is no time for preparation, it is likely that other things are being done in a similar scatarshot way. It may be that the company is looking to you for a quick fix, which is not a good position for you to be in (unless you are hired for that reason). "Fixers" become expendable when the dirty work is done and are easy scapegoats if things do not improve. If you are actually entering an emergency, you should have paid a premium, as any turnaround artist would be.

Unless you're a time-limited consultant or interim manager, no matter how much you've expected to fix things, always put aside time to get feedback and guidance from others and think about the long term as you start a job. Those first months are crucial for getting up to speed and for creating a lasting partnership with coworkers, subordinates, and others.

Why Is Physical Fitness Important

Physical fitness means different things to different people. For some, it is the ability to engage in sports activities; for others, it is more about feeling and looking good. With obesity now considered to be a pandemic in our society, more and more people are seeking out diet plans, exercise programs, and holistic approaches to improve their lifestyle. Health is on everyone's mind today; sometimes it is time. Why is physical fitness important?

Anyone who has been sedentary for a period of time knows how difficult it is to complete even the simplest of tasks. Your doctor probably tells you to lose weight; your nutritionist mandates you maintain a proper diet regimen; your gym instructor guides you in repetitive exercise programs to achieve a pre-planned fitness level. While everyone involved is focused on you becoming more fit and healthy; what are you contributing to the equation?

Let's face it; dieting is hard and exercise is even harder. However, in order to become physically fit, there has to be a balance of proper nutrition, dental and health care, rest, and relaxation. It all begins inside you. You must have the willingness, determination and drive to end all of the hardships necessary to enhance your overall health. Physical fitness will give you more energy than you've ever before, and allow you to enjoy life to its fullest. This requires goal-setting. No one is asking you to compete for gold medals; all that is required is a safe and effective method of physical exercise to improve your heart, lungs, and muscle development. Unused muscles lead to atrophy; which is why simple aerobic exercises are a great place to begin.

When you start an aerobic exercise, you're heart, lungs and muscles work together to improve cardiovascular function. Whatever you jog in place, walk for twenty minutes a day, or run; These exercises are an important part in physical fitness training. However, you must start slowly. If you have never exercised before, it will take time for your body to acclimate. It is not important what you do, but how you do it. Proper physical fitness training can mean the difference between a good exercise workout, and one which may lead to injury.

Joining a gym is an appropriate place to begin. There, professionals will walk you through each piece of equipment; explain its function; and demonstrate how to use the equipment properly. Perhaps the exercise bike may be a suitable place to begin. Twenty minutes, three times a week is a good exercise workout. Occasionally, you will gain the confidence you need to pursue other more strenuous exercises. Ask a friend to join the gym with you. Having someone there to partner with allows each of you to enjoy the experience of exercising while, at the same time, encouraging each other to continue particularly when it becomes hard and frustrating.

Take out the five pound weights gathering dust in your closet, and begin using them at home. It's time to stop others from telling you what you need to do; it's time to look in the mirror and ask yourself, "Why is physical fitness important to me?" Once you answer that question, you are ready to begin a program designed specifically for you. It's a matter of health. Do not wait! Just look in the mirror.

Acupuncture Charts – A Closer Look at the 14 Meridians

Standard acupuncture charts can be purchased that aid in identifying the name and locations of the meridian and acupoints on the front and back of the human body. An acupuncture chart will accurately show the location of the14 primary meridians as well as some of the extra points. Most acupuncture charts also show the names and locations of meridian and acupoints on lateral sides of the human body. Normally, they also have the international standard nomenclature and alphanumeric codes.

Some acupuncture charts come in sets that may be further divided into smaller sets that show the acupoints on the whole body surface (ie the back, neck, front, back and lateral sides of the human body, as well as the trunk of the body and other parts of the anatomy contained in different layers). There are also charts that show the upper limbs. Other acupuncture charts will show the entire human anatomy while others simply show regions of the human anatomy.

The acupuncture chart first became false during the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644) when the Chinese first printed vernacular literature in great numbers. However, over the ensuing hundreds of years they have become increasingly well known. Acupuncture charts appeared in manuals dealing with Chinese medicine and the purpose was both to instruct and identify the proper location of the acupoints. In addition to the reasons just given acupuncture charts were maintained for Chinese medicine which included reflexology, moxibution, massage and a number of other specialties.

Illustrations Aid in Understanding
Acupuncture charts do not explain how to needle the body but rather are diagrams that show the path of channels or meridian conduits as well as the location of acupuncture points. Because there are a great deal of acupuncture points, the acupuncture charts can only display a fraction of the channels and acupuncture points which are being discussed in the text of the chart. As a result, many acupuncture charts correspond with the specific body part, body function or disorder that needs to be treated.

A few common acupuncture charts are for the ear, foot, head and stomach. Other charts also describe healing methods of hot and cold diseases as well as other ailments.

The bottom line with acupuncture charts is that their primary function is to serve as a visual enhancement to the text and they are not intended to stand alone.

Talk Security – The Advantages Of Pepper Gel Versus Pepper Spray

There are many advantages and disadvantages of self-defense products. Today we will explore the advantages and disadvantages of chemical irritants commonly known as pepper spray.

Which Pepper Spray to Buy

First there are several things to consider before choosing a self-defense spray such as your environment, what are the laws in your area in regards to possession and use of defense sprays; will the defense spray be concealed by you when carried?

Types of Defense Sprays

Defense sprays come in various formulas, sizes, nozzle types, and spray patterns. They usually contain one or more of the following chemicals.

CS (Orthochlorobenzalmalonitrile) also known as CS Tear Gas is a chemical agent used in riot control by the military and police. The compound is dispersed as an aerosol or as a finely divided powder. Exposure to CS causes intense pain in the eyes and upper respiratory tract; the pain spreads to the lungs and gives the sensation of suffocation. In humid weather CS may cause severe blistering of the skin.

CN (alphachloroacetaphenone) also known as CN or CN Tear Gas has been around for a while. It was a popular defense spray in the past until the introduction of pepper spray into the law enforcement community. CN Tear Gas is an irritant to membrane tissues. It causes stinging pain and profuse tearing.

The disadvantages of CS and CN Tear Gases CS and CN Tear Gases irritate the membrane tissues and cause stinging and tearing. They can take from 5 to 30 seconds before they are effective and may not work if someone is drunk, on drugs, psychotic, or tolerant to pain. The affects of CN and CS Gases are not immediate taking up to 30 seconds to affect the assailant. These chemicals aren’t effective self-defense weapons unless formulated with the third chemical listed below OC or Oleoresin Capsicum.

OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) also known as OC Pepper Spray, Pepper Spray, OC gas, or capsicum spray is a lachrymatory agent or a (tearing agent) which is used in riot control, crowd control and personal self-defense, including defense against dogs. The active ingredient in pepper spray is capsaicin, which is a chemical derived from the fruit of plants in the Capsicum genus (hot pepper plants) category, including chillis.

Pepper Spray can be purchased with formulas ranging from 1-20% of active OC ingredient. Exposure to OC Pepper Spray causes the person’s eyes to slam shut. A person may be able to open their eyes after direct exposure however; OC dilates the capillaries and causes temporary blindness. Additionally, instant inflammation of the breathing tissues restricts all but life support breathing. They double over coughing uncontrollable; this condition is temporary but very debilitating.

The heat generating capacity of OC Pepper Spray is measured in Scoville Heat Units or (SHU’s) Peppers have a range of range 0-300,000 Scoville Heat Units. Pure OC can have a rating of 15 million SHUs. The type of pepper used to make the pepper spray determines the heat generating capacity. Basically the higher the SHU the hotter. The formula percentage has no bearing on the heat generating capacity of OC Pepper Spray. The higher the percentage of OC in the spray the thicker the formula, resulting in a slower penetration rate. Therefore a 1% formula OC Pepper Spray penetrates faster than the higher percentage formulas thus affecting the assailant quicker. The disadvantage of the thinner OC formulas are that the assailant will recover sooner.

Always check with your local law enforcement agency in regards to the possession and use of any self-defense weapon. Defense sprays can be purchased in CS or CN Tear Gas, OC Pepper Spray or CN/OC and CS/OC combinations.

Defense sprays come in several spray patterns: spray, stream, fog, foam and gel.

Spray Pattern disperses in the direction pointed and does not have a wide spray pattern. The disadvantage of using a spray is blowback. Blowback is when you spray your defense spray directly into the wind defending yourself and it blows on you or others contaminating both you and others in the area.

Stream Pattern disperses at a greater range than sprays usually 15 feet. Stream sprays aren’t as affected by windy conditions as sprays making it unlikely for blowback. However the OC doesn’t disperse as well out of the carrier as sprays with spray patterns.

Fogger Pattern disperses in a wide pattern and is the preferred choice for defense against multiple assailants. The fog pattern stays in the air and they have a range up to 20 feet.

Foam Pattern disperses in a foam pattern and is good for use in crowded areas because secondary exposure is minimal due to the concentration. The pattern isn’t very wide and police reports have shown that assailants have wiped the foam off their face and threw the foam back at officers. Foam pattern is good unless you have to subdue an individual for an arrest or detainment.

Gel Pattern disperses in a sticky gel and literally sticks to an assailants face or body. This formula is new to the industry and eliminates the possibility of having it thrown back at you like with foam patterns. Blowback and secondary exposure are minimal with this new formula.

The sizes of pepper sprays range from 2oz. to 9oz. and come in several types of carriers jogging weights, kubatons (striking device), key-chains and even pagers for easy access without notice. Defense sprays are a very good non-lethal way of defending you or loved ones. They don’t require contact with an assailant like stun guns and batons making it an excellent choice for defense at a distance.

If It Looks Like A Duck And It Quacks Like A Duck

Ok, gang; it's time to get our mental vision checked. Not your physical vision, that's not what I'm talking about. Mental vision, just like physical vision, can become cloudy. And then would you like to know what happens? Do not miss this.

You end up about as lucky as the only man in a women's prison with a fist full of pardons. Nah, I'm kidding, Or …. am I? :>) do not get mad at me now.

Let's see, said the blind man!

The two most common weaknesses of our physical vision are nearsightedness and farsightedness. To use an analogy we could say that these same two conditions are our biggest problems with mental vision.

A person who is mentally nearsighted is honest to ignore and overlook problems and possibilities that are distant. He is totally obsessed and focused on the problem and possibilities that are right in front of him.

He is oblivious to the problems and possibilities that he might encounter in the future. To him, the future looks about as important as a screen door on a submarine.

He could not care less about the future. He does not think or plan in future terms. The future to him is a whole new ball game because he can not see beyond the end of his nose.

Well, what about his cousin?

Ah, yeah. On the other side, the mentally farsighted person is respect to ignore and overlook problems and "possibilities" that are right in front of his face. He is totally oblivious to problems and possibilities that are about to eat him.

Have you ever heard the cliché, "if it were a snake it would have bit him"? Yep, that's our farsighted friend; a real mental giant.

He's somewhere off every day in fairy land; A dream world of Peter Pan and Disneyland. He wants to start out at the top of his company. He would never be happy cleaning toilets. The only job he would take is where he could start out at the top; never realizing the only job like that is digging a hole.

Can not see the forest for the trees!

In the process of examining our mental vision, we need to develop both our sight and our near sight. The advantages to a person who can see what is right in front of him are great. Are there possibilities all around you right now that you are overlooking? Are there things in your life everyday that you scoff at because they look like a Duck?

Fortunes were made off of a little thing called a paper clip. A fortune was made off of another thing called a bobbie pin; all because someone dared to not only see with their eyes, but, also to see with their mental vision.

Throwing Out The Baby With The Bath Water!

A mentally farsighted person would probably never have discovered something as trivial, yeah right, as a paper clip. Remember he is always off somewhere in never never land trying to discover the Rock of Gibraltar. Now, this is assuming that his near sighted mental vision is all backed up like a toilet.

If he recognizes that some things that look like a duck and quack like a duck just might be a duck, then this guy could be crying all the way to the bank.

Well, is not that just the cat's pajamas?

I remember the last time I was in a pet store; I bought the neat little super-duper pooper scooper for my cat's litter box. I'll bet the guy that discovered that made a fortune off of it; hehehe … Considering what I had to do, before I had that little device, I was glad to buy it. :>)

But, a mentally nearsighted person comes with his own set of problems. Here is the dude that can only see the nose in front of his face. He sees no value in planning, thinking, and preparing for the future. Thinking of anything more than a day away, for him, gets his knickers all in a twist.

He is so pre-occupied with the alligators that are trying to eat him right now, that he can not free his mind, to give his creative juices enough energy, to look into the distance and see the big picture. Being able to see down the road and mentally visualize great possibilities is a phenomenal function of the human brain.

Be an Eagle Eye!

This type of creative mental vision is a skill that can be learned and exercised. It is a skill that we all need to develop so we can learn to look into our own private world with a fresh mental vision and see the opportunities that are already about us and the ones that are in the distance that will come our way.

At times you may think you know a duck as soon as you see it. But, at the same time, if it's not acting like a duck then you may say; "this has no value". Do not do that.

Do not write it off and say, "Well, it is not quacking, so it is not a duck". Hey, you just might need your mental vision tweaked a little bit. You might be right on the verge of discovering something as slick as snot on a doorknob. You never know.

A Sitting Duck!

Now listen; we all have a tendency to see only what we want to see; and, to see mentally is to think. And, when you spend quality time thinking, you are exercising your mental capacity for vision and planning and preparing for the possibilities to come your way. Spending quality time thinking is a sure fire way to find out whether this duck is a quacker.

And, while you're thinking, ask yourself questions: lots of questions. This will definitely get your mental juices flowing and teach you how to think and decide whether your duck is going to start talking like a duck.

Ask all sorts of questions about the circumstances you're facing right now. This will show you how to exercise your mental nearsightedness.

A Man Of Many Words!

Ask yourself questions about how you will handle new opportunities when they present themselves; this will exercise your mental farsightedness. You have already faced enough opportunities to know how to ask yourself these questions.

Asking yourself or others questions about things you do not understand will exercise both your mental visions and reward you richly. And, you could make a great discovery. Who knows, maybe you will be the next guy to invent the next super super-duper pooper scooper.

One Simple Eye Exercise to Improve Your Eyesight

It's no news that we live in a busy world. Everyone is so busy today, that we often try to do more than one thing at a time. We even cave this ability a name – multi-tasking. When you multi-task, you place stress on your body … and you place stress on your eyes.

Conscious notice what you're looking at at the next time you multi-task. Chances are, you're trying to look at more than one thing at any one time. This "dispersion of your focus" places unnecessary on your eyes because your eyes are not meant to see more than one thing at a time.

Try this. Do you have a friend who loves perfect eyesight? Place two pebbles about 45cm (20 inches) apart. Pebble A and pebble B. Now ask your friend to look at Pebble A and then ask him / her if he / she can also see pebble B. If they do not put in the effort to do so, they can not.

But people with common eye problems such as myopia can do it effortlessly because it has become a habit of their heads. To improve your eyesight, simply try the exercise I mentioned above.

Only this time, try to see one pebble at a time. Remember, do not stare. Blink frequently (every 3 – 4 seconds) and take deep breaths. The benefit of this result is not directly correlated with the amount of effort you put into it. Quite the contrary, the more you can let go of the effort to see, the better result you'll get because at the end of the day, sight is just like any other senses. They should all be effortless.

NTP Time Server Security Solutions

The Network Time Protocol (NTP) is an Internet protocol designed to propagate accurate time around a computer network. NTP utilizes UDP over TCP / IP to synchronize network time clients to an accurate time reference. This article describes the security aspects of the NTP protocol and specifically using MD5 keys to authenticate a time server.

The Network Time Protocol may be used to synchronize many time critical processes on distributed computers across a network. The NTP protocol is there before a potential security risk. Hackers or malicious users could attempt to disrupt system synchronization by attempting to modify or replicate NTP time stamps.

Luckily, NTP has an integral security feature to thwart attempts to tamper with system time synchronization. NTP can use MD5 encrypted keys to authentic time stamps received from a time server. Network time clients and devices can utilize secure keys to authenticate time stamps and ensure their source of origin.

NTP implements authentication by utilizing an agreed set of keys between a server and client that are encrypted in time stamps. A NTP time server passes a timestamp to a client with one of a selection of keys encrypted and appended to the message. When a timestamp is received by the client, the security key is un-encrypted and checked against the list of stored secure keys. In this manner the client can ensure that the received timestamp originated from the expected time source.

The Network Time Protocol utilizes MD5 (Message Digest Encryption 5) encrypted keys. MD5 is a widely used secure encryption algorithm that utilizes a 128-bit cryptographic hash function. The algorithm outputs a fingerprint of the supplied key, which is appended to the timestamp.

UNIX and LINUX NTP installations store secure keys in a file named 'ntp.keys'. Each record in the file describes an authentication key in the format: 'key-number' 'encryption-code' 'key'. The 'key-number' is a reference to the key. The 'encryption code' describes the encryption algorithm in use, usually 'M' for MD5 encryption. The 'key' field is the agreed key that is to be encrypted by the encryption algorithm. A subset of 'trusted keys' may be specified in the NTP configuration file 'ntp.conf'. This allows a reduced subset of keys to be utilized by the server. Allowed compromised keys to be easily excluded from use. Trusted keys are specified using the 'trusted-keys' command followed by a space-delimited list of key references.

Many CISCO routers utilize secure MD5 authentication in the installed implementation of NTP. To enable a Cisco router to perform MD5 authentication you must follow a number of steps. Firstly, NTP authentication needs to be enabled using the 'ntp authenticate' command. Secondly, define an NTP authentication key using the 'ntp authentication-key' command. A unique reference number identifies each NTP key. The key reference number is provided as the first paramater to the 'ntp authentication-key' command. Thirdly, use the 'ntp trusted-key' command to tell the router which keys are valid. The command's only argument is the reference number of the key defined in the previous step

The Windows 20002003XP operating systems adopt a SNTP (Simple Network Time Protocol) application for time synchronization. The implementation used by Microsoft does not include authentication keys.

Essentially, secure key authentication is a method used to erradicate the possibility of the interception of timestamps for malicious reasons. Network time clients can be sure that timestamps have indeed emanated from the expected time reference and have not been intercepted for malicious purposes.

Rituals That Rock for Student Time Management

When you do things in the same way each and every time, what happens? That’s 100% right, these actions become habits. Soon, you don’t even have to think about them anymore, they seem to happen on their own. To create a study ritual, find a couple of places where you will generally be studying. This could be at your desk in your room, a favorite secluded spot in the library no one knows about, or the cushy chair in your local coffee shop. Doesn’t matter. Just make it the same place as often as possible.

Take a few deep breaths and prepare your mind to take in and process quickly the information you’ll be learning. As you sit down, sit up straight, see the goal, and begin.

Each time you go to study, think the same positive result thoughts, see yourself in your future career, which came about because you graduated from college, which happened because you enjoyed school and did well, and made a good grade on this test you’re studying for.

That’s your ritual that will help to mentally prepare you to take in info and retain it.

Have your materials ready by placing things where you need them.

There is nothing more frustrating for a person who wears reading glasses to have to spend 10 minutes looking for a pair of specs each time she sits down to read.

Have you ever sat down to study only to waste a good 10 to 15 minutes, or maybe more getting all of your stuff in order?

It’s time to play the “a place for everything” game. That means that if you need a calculator, it’s in one place, all the time, and you can count on that. When you’re done, you return it right there.

A big tip here, it’s worth it to you to have more than one of most smaller items you use all the time. You may even want to have a backpack, or briefcase that has a spot where you keep a second set of reading glasses, a calculator, blank CD’s, whatever it is you know you’ll need.

As you walk to this study spot, picture your end result. The A on your paper, the terrific score on your test, whatever. Now, think back to what you need to do to put yourself into that position to get that desired result. This will save you so much time and aggravation; you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.

Let’s check out why Respiratory Therapists are in need and why it’s a good plan to think about it as a job option

At a vastly high level, the main goal of the Respiratory Therapist is to look after and treat individuals who are having difficulties breathing no matter what the cause. These concerns can arise from many different sources including chronic bronchial asthma, other illnesses, emphysema or as a result of other acute problems including drowning, heart attacks and strokes. Most frequently you’ll find Respiratory Therapists working in therapy facilities and hospital settings and especially in Intensive care locations and Emergency room areas as a lot of the difficulties surrounding breathing occur in crisis situations as a result of accidents, unforeseen accidental injuries and medical emergencies. But, Respiratory Therapists will even learn that their services are essential in other places like long term care facilities, physicians facilities and in patients’ residences to assist with chronic breathing ailments like asthma in addition to support for people on ventilators and breathing equipment. This really is tremendous news for prospective therapists as this profession offers a lot of flexibility in expertise and location which at the end of the day will help anybody anywhere that might have breathing problems.

The need for Respiratory Therapists is growing mainly due to the continually rising populations of middle age and elderly individuals that are the most prone to breathing, lung and recurring respiratory problems. It’s an regrettable reality that the older population in the U.S., who lived during a time where smoking was accepted and simply OK, are now coming down with the after effects of a lifetime of being around cigar and cigarette smoke. It is this older group and their chronic concerns that is demanding physician’s offices to add the number of individuals in their Respiratory Therapy departments and why the career outlook in this field will grow over the next 20 years.

Regarding benefits and salaries, the good news for potential Respiratory Therapists is their demand will equate to larger salaries and better benefits. And despite the fact that the median salary tops fifty thousand dollars for a Respiratory Therapist, most are discovering that the need in this field additionally necessitates much overtime which can possibly drive annual wages to more than $100K per year in the heavier demand and larger population locations in the U.S.. It’s very common for a Respiratory Therapist to work their normal 40 hours every week and then cash in on about an added 30+ hours of double time to meet the needs. If you take into account the average Therapist is earning roughly $30 per hour in almost all areas of the nation, the quantity of overtime at “double time” or “time and a half” can certainly boost salary more than the six figure point. For Respiratory Therapists just out of their 2-year program of learning and with a Bachelors degree in their fingers, this is quite a big income and a good basis to consider entering the field.

Next to the demand and salaries, Respiratory Therapists even have the comfort of not needing to deal with a lot of the negative things that comparable jobs, such as Registered Nurses, might end up handling every day (and for about the same money too.) If you take the time to speak to existing Respiratory Therapists or even investigate the countless forums on the Internet where health veterans come together, you might observe that many are extremely pleased with their jobs and salaries, especially once you contrast their tasks to the RN’s they work next to every single day. It’s an option (which appears to be an easy one) that graduates will have to make in an effort to decide whether the Respiratory Therapist profession is one in which they need to take.

In conclusion, Respiratory Therapists are in demand in every corner of the U.S. and you will find many positive things to think about when choosing to go into this specific area in the health field. As always, refer to your specific area as demand and compensation fluctuate across the U.S. but in the long run Respiratory Therapy is unquestionably a profession with a big amount of upside potential.

5 Paleo Diet Tips

Even when it seems that the information is overwhelming for what’s healthy and what’s not, it is possible to choose a healthy lifestyle that includes modern and manageable choices to accommodate any lifestyle. The Paleo Diet will allow you to eat healthy, enjoy your meals, and assist you in achieving real health and wellness!

The Paleo Diet does not include grains, dairy, sugars, or processed foods – none of which provide nutritional value and support disease-causing inflammation in the body. The Paleo Diet supports eating a healthy mix of organic safe meat, fresh vegetables, some fruit, some nuts and seeds… and of course, healthy fats and oils! “Food is our fuel” that makes the body run – what you put into your bod will become the building blocks for every cell, muscle, tissue, and organ. The old adage “you are what you eat” was surprisingly true.

Here are 5 easy tips to help you get started on your Paleo journey to a healthy lifestyle:

1) Pre-cook your food, even bring lunch to work. In order to minimize cooking time, cook large batches of food at the beginning of the week or several days in advance!

2) Keep a paleo-friendly meal replacement bar or shake in your desk or purse in case of a change of plans. Being un-prepared will lead to poor decision making.

3) Try a new vegetable – the more color, and the deeper the color, the more nutritious it is! For example, kale is one of my favorite superfoods and it’s very versatile – you can use it in recipes for smoothies, salads, and even cooking as a warm dinner side.

4) Don’t keep any food you don’t “want” to eat in the house… at all. Out of sight, out of mind. And no, your kids don’t need those chips and cookies either.

5) Learn how to use new spices. This will offer much more variety and flavors in your meals.

And speaking of planning, here’s a little inspiration for planning your healthy paleo-friendly snacks!

– Apple with almond butter

– Cinnamon Nuts (nuts dusted with cinnamon and baked at 250 degrees about 10-15 minutes)

– Hard boiled eggs

– “Guacamole” salad (equal amounts of cubed avocado and tomato, sprinkle with chopped red onion and cilantro)

– Fresh vegetable juice / smoothie

– Kale chips (coat kale in olive oil and cook at 250 degrees for approx. 20 mins.or until crisp)
