What Can I Do to Prevent and Treat Ingrown Hairs?

Ingrown hairs (medically known as called pseudofolliculitis barbae) are the result of shaved hairs getting trapped and growing back into the follicle. Left untreated, these hairs can continue to grow in the follicle and cause infection and scarring.

There are several things you can do to minimize the occurrence of ingrown hairs. I would suggest following King of Shaves 3 Step Shaving Routine: PRIME, SHAVE, and PROTECT (PSP) to stop new ingrown hairs from appearing.

PRIME your skin. Cleanse your skin with a product that has a soap free formula. This will clear away excess oil, ingrained dirt, blackheads, and dead skin. If you feel that a face wash isn’t enough (personal preference) try using a gentle face scrub every other day to help remove dead skin and deep clean the pores.

SHAVE using good technique: Using a good shaving technique is vital to avoiding ingrown hairs. Always use a sharp and clean blade. Avoid applying pressure to the razor and NEVER shave against the grain. Hair that is shaved too closely will get stuck in the follicle and grow inward. If after shaving with the grain of hair growth you desire a closer shave, try shaving across the grain. NEVERTHELESS, NEVER EVER AGAINST THE GRAIN!

PROTECT your skin. After shaving, rinse your face with COOL water to calm your skin and close your pores. Apply a high quality facial moisturizer and avoid products that contain alcohol as it can dry out the skin and cause irritation.

If you already suffer from ingrown hairs and need immediate relief, you can try the following recommendations.

Remember that preparation before shaving is the key to a perfect shave! Have you ever had a professional shave and noticed how barbers always apply hot towels before shaving with a straight razor? When hair absorbs hot water, it becomes softer and easier to cut and your skin and facial muscles become relaxed, making shaving so much easier. This is why the best time to shave is after a bath or shower. This effect can also be achieved by soaking a folded small towel in warm water and wrapping it around the face for about one minute.

Take the weekend off. Give your skin a break from time to time, especially if you have ingrown hairs. Shaving over them will aggravate the problem, so skip shaving for a day or two if you can.

Avoid problem areas. If you notice an area with skin irritation or ingrown hairs and you have to shave that day, do not shave over the area more than once. Running a blade over the skin will just aggravate the area making it painful to shave.

Unplug. Avoid electric razors – especially those with rotating heads. These razors can cause the hair to be cut off in all sorts of directions and this can cause the hair to grow back into your hair follicle.

Go Collarless. High, stiff collars will rub against the sensitive skin on your neck and irritate the skin. A high collar can also trap dirt, sweat, and oil, which will clog pores.

Finding Edible Wild Mushrooms

Hunting for wild mushrooms is a fun recreational sport and can make for a lovely dinner. However many of these wild fungi are poisonous and could send you straight to the emergency room should you ingest them. Before you go ahead and eat any of these mushrooms, you must understand the dangers of these fungi.

It is always wise to study the specific species of mushroom you are looking to obtain. Search online for pictures of the fungus you find. It may seem like a tedious task just to eat a couple mushrooms but, it could end up saving your life. Another thing you need to be aware of is the ecology of your hunting grounds. Know your area. Find out which mushrooms grow in your region and at which time of year. There are many strains of species that are highly poisonous that look nearly identical to other mushrooms that are entirely edible. For instance, the Omphalotus olearius which is also commonly referred to as Jack O 'Lantern mushroom, is bright orange and has a peculiar conical shape. It is very poisonous and may not cause death but can lead to quite a ferocious tummy ache. There is another mushroom that looks almost exactly like the Jack O 'Lantern mushroom. The Chanterelle is also bright orange and conical in shape however, it is completely edible and very delicious. Even more unnerving, is the fact that these two mushrooms actually spawn and fruit around the exact same time of year. Just be careful when choosing which fungi to eat and if possible, consult your local wild life expert before preparing any of them for supper.

One of the most deadly mushrooms to watch out for is the Amanita phalloides. This fungus actually looks a lot like your common white mushroom. Although it matches a normal one off your table in color and texture, it is actually a lot bigger in size. However, You must be careful when identifying this fungus just by its size. If you are looking at a newly formed baby Amanita phalloides, it may actually look exactly like a common white mushroom in size. This phenomenon is why more people die from this mushroom every year than any other.

The Difference Between HDL and LDL Cholesterol

There is a soft waxy substance found in fats that are in the blood stream and all of your bodies cells, it is called cholesterol. It is used to form cell membranes, hormones, and needed for other things, that's why it is an important part of the health of your body. But too much or too little cholesterol in the body can cause health concerns. Cholesterol can not be dissolved in the blood so it is transported by lipoproteins.

There are two different types of lipoproteins that transport cholesterol through the body called Low density and high density lipoproteins. LDL cholesterol is circulated in the blood and can slowly build up a plaque on the walls of arteries. It can cause a clot to form and block the blood flow to the heart and cause a heart attack. If the clot blocks the blood from the brain it is a stroke.

HDL cholesterol carries about one fourth of the blood cholesterol. It mostly carries it away from the arteries and into the liver where it is removed from the body as a toxin. HDL cholesterol is better known as the good cholesterol. It is reported to as this because it seems to protect the heart.

As there are 2 different main types of cholesterol there is also 2 main ways to get cholesterol. The liver produced some cholesterol and food that is consumed contains cholesterol. There is food that does not have cholesterol in it as well. Normally the liver makes all the cholesterol that the body is going to need. Therefore you do not need to consume any cholesterol. Trans fats and saturated fats raise the blood cholesterol. The liver does remove some of the excess cholesterol but the body is still taking in more than it needs.

People who have high cholesterol levels need more excess cholesterol removed from the body. Getting regular exercise can actually increase HDL cholesterol in some people. It can also help control weight, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Things like power walking, jogging, and swimming are great exercise. Even things like yard work; house work, cleaning, and grocery shopping are getting exercise.

Smoking has a great affect on your body. It is one of the risk factors for heart disease. You can change or treat it though. Smoking does however lower your HDL Cholesterol levels and increases the risk for blood clots. Moderate use of alcohol has been linked with higher levels of HDL Cholesterol, but the other risk f players of drinking still do not make it a great preventative. It can raise blood pressure, cause obesity, stroke, and cancer.

Some of the foods that should be avoided to prevent excess cholesterol in the body are beef products, veal products, pork products, egg, egg yolk, turkey products, fish oil, fish products, lamb products, chicken products, and processed meats.

Mostly all meat products will raise cholesterol levels. So will any fast food, and junk foods.

Alternative Health Supplements has a product that will lower cholesterol levels in your body. Cholestasys will promote elimination of cholesterol from the body and reduces the level of cholesterol that the liver produces. It will balance your level of cholesterol to a healthy level and give you an increased energy level as well and a feeling of overall well being. It has no negative side effects and it safe to use.

The number of persons suffering from panic attacks is increasing significantly. Although panic attacks are not fatal, there is still some urgency to find the right treatment for panic attacks. You have to learn how to cure panic attacks before they can actually hit you.

Uncovering What Causes Your Panic Attack Episodes

It is difficult to pin down the exact causes for attacks, as they can be brought about by a variety of reasons. The most common triggers for attacks include, among others, the following: disorders such as panic and personality; imbalances such as chemical and thyroid; stress and depression.

Recognizing the Symptoms of Panic Attacks

What makes attacks seem worst is that the symptoms are almost the same as the symptoms of heart attacks. This adds up to the already panicky situation the sufferer has to deal with.

In order to recognize the symptoms of attacks, you have to be able to experience a minimum of four (4) of the following:

  • Strong feeling of fear, terror, and panic;
  • Unusual and heavy sweating

Learning how to cure attacks is an important step to deal with the attacks. You must have to realize and understand, first and foremost, that attacks are different from heart attacks and although they may have the same warning signs, unlike the latter, attacks are not fatal.

With this in mind, you must be able to calm yourself. Your calmness and composition are your two best weapons as you resolve your episodes of attacks and make them go away for good.

Business Survival, Growth & Marketing in These Lean Times of 2009

It is a rough world out there in the economy and the "real world". What can you do in the world of commerce to keep your business cruising in 2009 – if not simply alive and treading water?

First of all focus on the long run. There were people and companies even during the dark years of the "dirty thirties" and the major economic downtown – if not depression of the last century who looked ahead and knew that the good days would return once again. It is only a matter of time and mindset. It is amazing at even when people think that it is all over – the universe is expanding it is all over, what the point ?, that the economy can turn on a dime in a short time period and rebound. The resilience of people, especially the ability to be innovative and as well stick to it ness of American people, workers and personalities can do wonders and accomplish what can seem to the seemingly seeming tasks. A rebound can happen in the shortest of time periods as well. Count on it and take these measures and beliefs as truisms of the highest accord.

Still what can you do "until things turn around"? First start your business again. Act as if you did when you first started up – full of the highest and greatest measures of targeted work, intrinsic enthusiasm and boundless energy. Next, regardless of always being prepared and ready as well to "make that sale". It turns cash flow. Remember people run with the herd, most of all they want to reassure. Business is synergistic. It all works together. Business done builds and partnerships more business. It is like two gas stations at a corner will do the business overall of four. On top of that with cash flow your suppliers can be paid promptly. Everyone wins on this one.

Always remember that attitude counts. Along with attitude may be more aggressive pricing. That is you may well have to offer lower prices on products. Customers are hurting too. They can not afford to pay what they used to. Well not always. On top of that they may well have options and offers from your competitors that may well be very attractive and tantalizing to switch. Why give them the chance. Now is the time for spadework, to build and enlarge your foundation and reputation. Don not be shortsighted and try to make up volume either by charging more or even trying to overcharge those unwilling customers who come by, or are even in a bind. It is shortsighted in the long run. Totally.

If you can think of anything – work to provide your customers with "real value". It is all in a long run view. Long term value is always the best policy. You may well be tempted to cut corners – either on their end or even yours. This falls under the descriptive term of "false economy". At some point, not in the too distant future, cut corners will come back to haunt you. You may even have to bite the bullet and "do good" to repair and take care of problems. the worst if you lose a customer to another supplier and vendor, due to requests or work that you either feel is not in your customer's or your own best interest it is a wise choice. you will see that customer back – all the wiser and more appreciative of your product and services.

Lastly a downturn can be a time for planning and growth. Systems can be improved and revamped. Training and updates can be done. In business, in the new millennium, it is not often about costs so much and investments in a monetary sense but about time. Years ago we had lots of time but little money. Not long ago you may well of been in the situation of the reverse – lots of cash flow and even profit, but little time. During the current financial downturn you will have lots of time, and less cash. Well for the moment. One last point which is bedrock, do not do anything foolish out of panic. Maintain your ethics, morals, your work ethic and most importantly your reputation. Always think positive. Think for the long term and the home run.

How to Cold Call As a Staffing Sales Executive

If you don’t believe that cold calls work in 2017 then stop reading this article and get back to email. Cold calling still works in a BIG way. Here’s why and here’s how to make an effective cold call in staffing…

Depending on the industry you staff for, cold calls will be more effective than others. For example, the industry I service, Telecommunications, is comprised of Baby Boomers and Gen X’ers who aren’t afraid of human contact and conversation via phone. This is how we grew up and this was the preferred method in the business world back in the 80’s, 90’s, and early 2000’s.

… Look at your industry and understand your target audience.

For cold calls to work, you must believe it will. You can not have a shadow of doubt in your mind before picking up that phone. Get your mindset right and convince yourself this will work.

What is the best way to open your call? Here’s my pitch…

“Hi Peter, (never use Mr. last name), makes you look subservient off the bat. My name is x, with x company and our core competency is x,x,x. We work with x companies within our industry to help them secure qualified resources for projects and/or direct hire. Can I be a resource for you from time-to-time?

That’s IT! Then SIT BACK AND BE QUIET. I don’t care if 20 seconds of awkward silence occurs, awkward silence is good! I see and hear so many staffing sales execs ramble on and talk themselves out of opportunities. Listen and listen more.

Let’s dissect my pitch above. The first name establishes a level playing field. Posture and positioning is critical in sales, (read any Seth Godin book) especially, within the staffing and recruiting business. Sharing core competency and clients establishes relevance and credibility right away. This is also critical because most peoples’ attention span nowadays is 1-2 seconds.

The word “qualified” says so much. Hiring managers need quality. If you simply say we secure resources, then you don’t separate yourself from other recruiters. If he questions your “quality” claim, this is a when you have him! Share success stories. Share what other clients tell you. This is powerful.

I use projects and direct hire to make sure he understands we cover both sides of the business and we can be flexible with his business needs. Hiring managers love options and flexibility.

My final question, “Can I be a resource for you from time-to-time?” has been my ACE in the hole. Very non-threatening and doesn’t make you look desperate. It gets the hiring manager thinking proactively and if he is wise he will keep you in his mind in the event he needs you in the near future.

Discectomy Surgery Tourism to India

What is Discectomy?

Disk removal is one of the most common types of back surgery. Diskectomy (also called discectomy) is the removal of an intervertebral disk, the flexible plate that connects any two adjunct vertebrae in the spine. Intervertebral disks act as shock absorbers, protecting the brain and spinal cord from the impact produced by the body's movements.

Purpose of Discectomy Surgery?

Removing the invertebral disk is performed after completion of unsuccessful conservative treatment for back pain that has been present for at least six weeks. Surgery is also performed if there is pressure on the lumbosacral nerve roots that causes fatigue, bowel dysfunction, or bladder dysfunction.

As a person ages, the disks between vertebrae degenerate and dry out, and tears form in the fibers holding them in place. Occasionally, the disk can develop a blister-like bulge, compressing nerves in the spinal and causing pain. This is called a "prolapsed" (or herniated) disk. If such a disk presses on a nerve root and causes muscle weaknesses, or problems with the bladder or bowel, immediate disk removal surgery may be needed.

The goal of the surgery is to relieve all pressure on nerve roots by removing the pulpy material from the disk, or the entire disk. If it is necessary to remove material from several nearby vertebrae, the spine may become unsteady. In this case, the surgeon will perform a Spinal Fusion, removing all disks between two or more vertebrae, and roughening the bones so that the vertebrae heel together. Bone strips taken from the patient's leg or hip may be used to help hold the vertebrae together. Spinal fusion decreases pain, but decrees spinal mobility.
Description of Discectomy surgery:

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia The surgeon cuts an opening into the vertebral canal, and moves the dura and the bundle of nerves called the "cauda equina" (horse's tail) side, which poses the disk. If a portion of the disk has moved out from between the vertebrae and into the nerve canal, it is simply removed. If the disk itself has become fragmented and partially displaced, or is not fragmented but bulges extensively, the surgeon removes the damaged part of the disk and the part that lies in the space between the vertebrae.

There are minimally invasive surgical techniques for disk removal, including microdiskectomy. In this procedure, the surgeon uses a magnifying instrument or special microscope to view the disk. Magnification makes it possible to remove a herniated disk with a smaller incision, causing less damage to nearby tissue. Video-assisted arthroscopic microdiskectomy has exhibited good results with less use of narcotics and a shorter period of disability. Newer forms of discectomy are still in the research stage, and are not yet widely available. These include laser discectomy and automated percutaneous discectomy.

Risks assosiated with Discectomy surger:

Discectomy and microdiscectomy are generally well-tolerated and do not commonly cause complications. However, there is a slight risk of damaging the nerve roots or spinal structures during surgery. There is also some risk of infection following surgery, which may cause further damage. An infection may require high doses of antibiotics and additional surgery to control.
All surgery involves some risk. Also, because there are risks with general anesthesia, your doctor and medical staff will carefully monitor you during your surgery and recovery.

What is the out come of Discectomy surgery:

People with prolonged symptoms that are sufficient enough to interfere with normal activities and work and require strong pain medications may gain significant relief from surgery. A 2001 study reports that surgery results in the greatest improvement for people with moderate or severe sciatica caused by lower (lumbar) back disc herniation. Of 402 people included in this 5-year graduation study, 70% of those who had surgery reported improvement in their most important symptom, as compared with 56% of those who received nonsurgical treatment.2 People with milder symptoms tend to do well without surgery

Diabetes Complication

What Happens When You Suffer from Diabetes Complication?

Diabetes complication is not a pleasant topic. Nobody wants to find out about it, even less suffer from it. If a loved one or even you are suffering from diabetes complication, it's a good idea to stay calm and follow your doctor's directions. If the patient does not follow the directions, the next step is death, and no one wants to reach that stage.

Effects from Diabetes Complication

Diabetes complication does not just materialize from one moment to the next. It is a process that accumulates itself after years of body decay. If a person maintains a stabilized sugar level, there is no reason whatsever to suffer from diabetes complication. In order to combat this future state, the best way to do it is with self-control.

But what if the patient already suffers from diabetes complication? What will they expect to see? The first manifestations will be caused by the damage generated in the blood vessels. If we take this into consideration, we can divide the effects in two types of complications: small vessels disease complications and large vessel disease complication.

Small vessels disease complications cause a series of problems that are usually associated with diabetes. The main ones are blindness and necrosis, which ends in the amputation of the damaged limb. Another, less known consequence is renal failure. If this happens, the patient may need a transplant or a machine to continue living.

Large vessel disease complications produce more serious medical complications. Strokes are a common cause of death for people suffering from terminal diabetes. Peripheral and ischemic heart disease can also materialize. In the case of peripheral heart disease, the limbs may be compromised, ending in the amputation of limbs due to an ulcer.

Instead, ischemic heart disease attacks the heart. The main muscle of the body finds itself without an adequate supply of blood. Known as the main reason of death among western countries, it generates a lot of pain to the patient. Unfortunately, the people who suffer from diabetes have a low probability of living once they are affected by this condition.

If You Want To Live, You Need To Change

Do not wait until things are too late. If a patient starts with small vessels disease complications, it is because he has not adequately controlled the sugar level in his blood. The only choice that the patient has is to change his lifestyle. He may have lost his vision or even his limb, but it is not a death sentence. Nobody needs to wait until the terminal stage of this disease.

Obesity Is a Disease – Are You Infected?

My name is Brian Gosur, and I am an alcoholic. Alcoholism is a disease. It's a disease that slowly creeps into your life and makes its claim on you. It takes over everything, and becomes the desire, the drive, and the motivation for your life. It kills, not only on a physical level, but on an emotional, and spiritual level as well. It destroys your family, your finances, and your friends. You will die a very slow and agonizing death, while everyone who loves you, can only sit back and watch this horrible tragedy take place.

The real sad thing about this type of decease is you, and only you, hold the key to turning this whole thing around. Your family and your friends can try to encourage you and support you with everything that they have in them, but only you can make the decision to quit, and change the course of your life forever.

So it is with obesity. Obesity is a disease, and 67% of Americans have it. Like alcohol the first thing you do is never admit that you have a problem.

You say, you can stop whenever you want. You say, you just reward yourself for working real hard all week. No big deal … yes you kind of over eat at that holiday party, but it was Christmas … You just could not say no and hurt their feelings … everyone else was doing it … right? You tell yourself that, after the holidays, you're going to start that diet and do those exercises, and you will get back that shape that you once had.

Any of those excuses sound familiar? They do to me, because as an alcoholic, I used every one of them over and over again. They did not mean a thing to me because I knew, and I never had any intention, of ever doing or keeping any of them. They were just empty words that I used all the time, but they had no real meaning for me, and all the people who loved knew that as well.

People will eventually begin to give up on you, and you will find yourself driving further and further away from your home, and from those that love you and depend on you.

I know that I can never ever have a drink again, and I do not miss it one single bit. It has been almost twelve years of sobriety for me, and I thank God, and my wonderful wife, for bringing me through this journey. It was not easy. It was hard, but it was worth every step that I took to get to where I am today.

As I contemplated writing this article, I realized that there are a lot of similarities between the decease of alcoholism and the disease of obesity. I wanted to use my experience and my struggle with my disease, to help those of you in your struggle with your disease of obesity, and even those of you who may be just at the start, of your unhealthy life of being over weight and over eating.

Here are five steps that you must come to grips with before you can ever hope of getting healthy again.

1. Houston … We Have a Problem

The first thing, and the hardest thing for me to admit was that I had a drinking problem. This is the hardest step for anyone to take. I thought that if I only drank on the weekend and got drunk on the weekend, I was OK, but my friend told me that it just meant that I was a weekend alcoholic, but an alcoholic none the less.

Food will slowly start to creep into your life just like that. It tastes good and you like to eat it, and you never give a thought to what you're eating or if it's good for you. Before you know it your eating more of it all the time and at all hours of the day and night, you might be even sneaking it into your house or bedroom, and the pounds start to slowly add-on.

You have to realize the truth and see, that food is no longer just for living, but you are living for your food.

2. Never Walk Alone

The second thing that I came to realize, was that I could not win this battle by myself. That's a very hard thing to admit when you're an, "I can do that," kind of person. You know the kind that never asks for directions when he gets lost … that's me.

Look for those people who love you and care about, and want to help you win this battle, and then cling to them and learn to lean an them, it will make all those bumps in the road, a lot easier to take.

3. Find The Right Plan For You

There are a ton of weight loss products and programs out there. Find the one that works for you. Check them out and see if it's right for you, because if it's not, you will not see results and after a couple of weeks of struggling for results … you will quit.

Take the time and do the research and find the right product and plan your road to a new healthy you.

4. Exercise has To Be A Part of The Plan

No if, ands, or buts about it, you must get off the couch and get some physical exercise. That's part of the reason why you're in this situation in the first place. Eating too much, eating all the wrong things, and never getting any exercise.

I think that exercise is the first thing to go. You get a little bit older and you get a little bit busier, and then you lose the contact with your friends that you used to play basketball, tennis, and golf with, and you learn a new activity … how to veg out on the couch with your chips, beer and pizza.

Start to integrate an exercise plan in conjunction with your new eating plan. Take a shake in the morning, a light lunch, and a good healthy dinner, and then a walk or a run to close the day out. You will feel better and best of all; you will see those pounds start to fall off. Believe me … it's a great feeling.

5. Do It Today – Start Right Now!

As my friend Cedrick Harris always says, "Do not be a member of the largest nation on the planet, called Procrastination. I use to live there, and I did not like it one single bit. Nothing gets moving in that nation, and there are no success stories coming out of that country.

How many times have you said, "You got a point there Brian, I'm going to take a good look at it later," "I'm pretty busy right now, but I will check it out," "I know I need to do something, I'm going to get started someday. " Someday becomes next month, and next month becomes next year, and in the mean time you're getting fatter, and your heart is working harder, and you're blood pressure is getting higher, and often your walking time bomb … EXPLODES … and you die.

My doctor tried to tell me this years ago, until one day he sat me down and just hit me between the eyes with the truth. My alcoholism was going to kill me. He said you are going to die, if you do not change your life around right now … today!

Obesity is a disease, you and only you can decide whether you're going to be another statistic, or another success story that will reach out and save someone else's life. But you need to start today … right now.

How To Have Healthy Skin With A Clear Skin Diet

What is a Skin Tag, Why Do They Happen and Do They Ever Go Away?

Well there's no doubt about it, these things are aggravating, ugly, and embarrassing if they are in a place people can see. But just what is a skin tag and what do you need to do about them? Will they go away on their own or what?

Do not worry, this is a problem many people deal with. First, a skin tag is very simply a small noncancerous (benign) growth. Normally you will find hem to be flesh-colored growths of skin which are attached by a very narrow piece of skin called a stalk. Sometimes the color will vary a bit, as will the texture and size. It is very rare that they are malignant so, away from the cosmetic issue, they are not anything to be very concerned about.

You will usually find these tags located on the face, eyelid, underarm area, or in places where your skin rubs together such as under the breasts or in the groin area. These locations can cause the tags to be painful because of the skin rubbing together or rubbing or snagging on clothes.

Middle age is a very popular time to find these benign growths popping up. There is no real known cause, and they do not generally go away on their own.

Although these growths are for the most part considered quite harmless, many people choose to have them removed anyway due to the fact that they simply are not very appealing to look at. Sometimes they are painful too, depending on the area where they are located. If you are not bothered by your skin tag, it's fine to just leave it be. However, a dermatologist can easily freeze them or snip them off if you would like to have them removed.
