How Can I Relieve My Anemia Symptoms?

Anemia literally means lack of blood. More inadvertently, it's a problem with hemoglobin the oxygen-carrying pigment in the blood. It can be seen quite easily: some one with anemia looks pale with pale skin, lips and inner rims of the eyelids. Sufferers seem to have a degree of what you might call power failure, with symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, depression, a sinking feeling blurred vision and frequent infections. They may also experience food and / or sugar carvings, general sluggishness, cold hands and feet, and put on weight easily – all connected to a poor metabolism.

Blood consists of blood cells and platelets, which swim in a colourless liquid called plasma. Red blood cells are the most abundant and also the most specialized cells in the body, as they transport oxygen and carbon dioxide; without them, the body simply can not survive. White blood cells are part of our immune defences, and platelets enable the blood to clot. The red blood cells contain hemoglobin, a powerful compound constituent of an iron-containing pigment called 'heme', and 'globulin', a protein. Haemoglobin has a vial role in the supply of oxygen to the body, facilitating the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. Heme also contains cobalt, a micro-element that acts as a catalyst in the exchange of these gases. Meanwhile, the iron is responsible for binding oxygen molecules in the lungs and then releasing them to target cells.

Body cells only function optimally if there is enough oxygen and if carbon dioxide, a waste gas, is removed efficiently. If there are not enough red blood cells, or they are smaller in size, the haemoglobin's capacity to supply oxygen is reduced. This Oxygen starvation affects every system in the body, producing the symptoms above. Also, people with anemia often suffer from breathlessness, due to the lack of oxygen, and palpitations, as the heart beat faster to try to improve the oxygen supply.

The most common type of anemia is due to iron deficiency, which in my view is mainly due to lack of protein from a strict vegan or vegetarian diet, anorexia, as well as some kidney problems and burns, which destroy protein. A deficiency of vitamin B12, which forms the nucleus of the haemoglobin, folic acid or vitamin B6 can cause pernicious (megaloblastic) anemia. There are other, rarer forms, including sickle-cell disease and thalassaemia (both inherited conditions), plus haemolytic and aplastic anemia.

Because you have nausea and digestive problems, I suspect that your problem is iron deficiency anemia. (l assume that your GP has organized blood tests), Iron is absorbed mainly in the stomach and any problems with its lining will affect absorption. Gastritis, stomach ulcers, acidity, eating too many acid foods, infections such as helicobacter pylori, drug-related gastritis (from steroids or pain killers for example) and stomach surgery will reduce the stomach's capacity to absorb iron. Parasites (worms) can also cause iron-deficiency anemia Since you have both digestive and skin problems, you may have yeast overgrowth or candidacies. These conditions can be symptoms of a leaky gut, where the gut wall has been perforated by yeast overgrowth (or other factors), which then get into the bloodstream causing a host of problems. The itching and rashes may be because the body is trying to eliminate toxins through the skin …

I advise an all-round approach to treatment lf you just treat the anemia wont give you the results you hope for.

These are my suggestions

* Eat small, regular amounts of calves 'liver and red meat' fresh organic eggs (bled, semi-boiled or poached), spinach, broccoli, cherries, aubergines, avocado, and pomegranate, red

apples, carrot juice. Take ten almonds and brazil nuts, soaked in still water for 24 hours, daily. These are all 'known to help blood synthesis in traditional medicine.

* To improve digestion: avoid citrus and sour foods (eg orange, rhubarb, Pineapples, kiwi, vinegar), chilies, deep-fried foods, unsoaked nuts and seeds, plus painkillers (unless you really have to take them); also yeast products, sugar and alcohol.

* Take Iron tablets, one daily for three months.

* Take two twigs kadu and one third teaspoon full kariatu powder; soak in a cup of hot water over night strain and drink in the morning on an empty stomach.

* Take Stomach Formula tablets, one twice daily for two months to control excess stomach acid.

Our Guide To Cholesterol-Lowering Drugs

Statins may be your best hope for avoiding a heart attack if you have high cholesterol that you can not lower through simple diet and exercise. Lovastatin (Mevacor), simvastatin (Zocor), fluvastatin (Lescol), paravastatin (pravachol) and atorvastatin (Lipitor) are some examples of statin drugs used to lower your cholesterol levels. These medications help lower your LDL (or "bad") cholesterol level by about 30 to 50 percent.

A patient at several different stages along the road to a heart attack can really be helped by statins. For patients who already suffer from coronary heart disease, this drug is actually even more valuable. A recent study has shown that fatal heart attacks can be reduced by more than 40 percent by simply taking simvastatin under careful prescription.

Who should be taking statins?

Anyone with an HDL level of 40 or above and an LDL level less than 100 milligrams per deciliter is considered to be a healthy person, from this point of view. However, many people, fall out of line and it gets even worse if other heart attack risks are involved – like for example if the person is a smoker or simply has high blood pressure. Other risks can involve a family history of heart disease, or if you're over 50 years old. In this case you should probably test your cholesterol blood levels as soon as possible to see if the LDL and HDL are at optimal levels. Actually, if you have different and multiple risk factors or you have been diagnosed with coronary heart disease, you should do anything possible to keep your LDL cholesterol level under 100 mg / dL even if you need drugs to get there.

Are there any other cholesterol lowering drugs?

Cholesterol can be improved not only by statins. For example, if you have a low HDL ("good") cholesterol level, your doctor may prescribe niacin instead of or in addition to a statin. Niacin will give your HDL level a bigger boost than that of statins, which can usually just slightly elevate your HDL. Likewise, you may need gemfibrozil which is a fibrate drug that is prescribed whenever your triglyceride (another type of fat in the blood) level is too high. Statins tend to cause less side effects than niacin and gemfibrozil, and this is why it is highly recommended to ask your doctor about any side effects that might appear.

Although statins may be useful in several cases of high cholesterol levels, we advise people to look in to the natural ways of improving and balancing out their cholesterol levels. Doing so could potentially avoid nasty side effects while at the same time getting your health to optimal levels naturally.

Ransomware Attacks May Blindside Unsuspecting Users

When internet users have their hackles up waiting for a cyber attack, they often expect the attackers to sneak in through the proverbial back door, sneaking in a stealthy, covert, and hidden manner. But in cyber space, nothing is certain. While the victim is busy looking over his shoulder, the attacker may just run up and whack him over the head – metaphorically, of course.

The threat of ransomware is a good example of a direct attack. Unlike a stealth attack such as keylogging, in which the victim is extorted via logged keystrokes that capture passwords, account numbers, and other personal and financial information without their knowledge, ransomware is more direct. Ransomware is an attack in which perpetrators use malicious code to hijack the victim’s computer files and encrypt them, rendering them unreadable and useless. For the kicker, the attackers then contact the victim, demanding a ransom in the form of a payment or online transaction in return for a decryption password.

Ransomware has not been a very widespread issue, but as hackers and users both become more sophisticated, it may be used to blindside more and more people who are only worried about phishing or keyloggers. Luckily, the same techniques used to prevent users from falling victim to those widely known scams are the same:

1. Do not open email or attachments from unknown sources.

2. Do not follow links to unknown sites.

3. Do not download games, files, or software from unknown sources.

4. Install antivirus and anti spyware software and update it daily.

5. Install a firewall and popup blocker and keep them turned on.

6. Make sure all browsers and system software is updated regularly.

7. Back up all system files and computer files on a separate machine, online, or on disk, so that the hard drive can be wiped if necessary without sacrificing important files or programs.

When faced with the loss of their computer data, some people may panic and instinctively hand over the payment. However, many may find that they paid for no reason at all. One ransomware program, known by the moniker Ransom.A, is actually not destructive – on the contrary, it relies on empty threats to extract payment. In addition to randomly activating pornographic popups on the user’s computer, Ransom.A threatens to destroy a file every 30 minutes until the user wires a conveniently low payment of $10.99 to the attackers in return for an “unlock code.” But Ransom.A does not have the ability to delete or encrypt files; all it does is rely on the user’s need for a fast, cheap fix to what is, essentially, not a real problem.

There are, however, ransomware programs that actually will do harm, such as Trojan.Archiveus, which, according to antivirus company Kaspersky Lab, copies, scrambles, and deletes all the files in the user’s “My Documents” folder. A ransom note is then sent to users offering the decryption password in exchange for a purchase from an online Russian pharmacy. Drive-by downloading is thought to be the main way Archiveus is spread. However, according to Symantec Corp., the password to unlock the encryption is: mf2lro8sw03ufvnsq034jfowr18f3cszc20vmw – apparently, the decryption password was found in the code, offering an example of the fact that hackers are as susceptible to human flaw as the most inexperienced user.

Though the threat of ransomware is relatively low, it is still a good idea to back up all computer files and take the necessary steps to prevent receiving one of the nasty little notes. And, if you should find yourself in that position, contact law enforcement officials before making any payments to your attackers.

Personal Growth – Why It Is Important

Why are personal growth and self-improvement important, not just to certain individuals who are committed to growing, but to everyone? It is a question that needs to be asked and answered. Sure, it will make a pleasant little article to read, but more importantly, the answer affects our planet planet.

When we are beset all around us with violence, hatred, prejudice, and illness, it is critical to examine why this is so. It is even more crucible to do something about it.

Now, it is impossible to change the world, or even to change a few others. Have you ever tried to change your spouse or your child? Has it worked? No, of course it has not. It is certainly a lesson in frustration for anyone who has attempted it.

However, we CAN change ourselves and in so doing affect the rest of the world. Do not believe it? There is actual proof that this is true. The proof comes from a scientific body of study called Quantum Physics, and the Law of Attraction, which is outlined in the recent hit movie The Secret . The Law of Attraction works whenever you know about it or not, so you might as well use it to make your life better.

Quantum physics laws have proven that everything is made of energy. EVERYTHING. Therefore, even your thoughts and desires are energy, ie non-physical realities that have not yet identified in the physical realm.

What that means is that whatever you focus your thoughts on creates your reality. Well, this is good news and bad news. The bad news is that when you think about what you do not want or are afraid of or dislike, you create more of that in your life. The good news is that if you focus on what you do want, it comes to you in abundance!

Like attractions like. You have heard this before, I am certain. In other words, your thought energy joins similar energy. If your thoughts are positive and happy, then they attract others who are positive and happy. Either those around you who are not happy and successful will go away or they will shift to a more positive energy.

I am sure we have all experienced this. If you are around happy people who are moving forward in their lives, you tend to feel happier and more content too. They are fun and easy to be around.

Conversely, if your thoughts are negative, filled with anger or fears, then you will attract more of the same in your life. You will even affect people around you to be more negative or fearful. Have you ever experienced being in the company of someone who was constantly complaining or criticizing everyone and everything? How did it make you feel? Not very good I am sure.

Obviously, for our planet planet to be more positive and healthy, more individuals need to raise their own vibration to positive, abundant, healing levels. If we do not make this an important focus in our lives, then our world will not improve and will continue with the crises and issues that overflow our news reports every day.

I know I, for one, want to live in a world that is healthy, abundant in every way, and surrounded by like-minded people. We all deserve this and need to be responsible for our energy and the way we influence others. That is why personal growth should be a priority in everyone's life, not tomorrow or next month, but right now.

Brain Tumor Surgery – Types & Recovery

Brain tumor surgery is performed to remove the tumor from the brain. In other words, it’s an operation done to reduce the pressure inside the brain. In case, if you are diagnosed with a brain tumor the primary treatment available to you is the brain tumor surgery. It is performed to remove the tumor, either wholly or as much it is possible. Usually, surgery is an initial step taken to treat the beginning stages and other malignant tumors. It is the widely approached treatment by all, where the tumor can be removed easily without any risk of neurological damage.

Types of Brain Tumor Surgery

Mentioned below are the common types of brain tumor surgery done till date.

1. Biopsy: A surgery performed to remove a sample of tumor tissue.

2. Craniotomy: An operation carried out to remove a portion of the skull. By doing so, it allows the neurosurgeon to find and delete the tumor as much as possible. The removed part is replaced after the surgery.

3. Craniectomy: It is similar to craniotomy. The only difference in this operation is that the portion of skull removed is not replaced.

4. Debulking: Surgery is done to reduce the size of the tumor.

5. Partial Removal: An operation carried out to remove only a part of the tumor (due to the risk of a neurological disorder)

6. Complete Removal: Surgery is done to remove the entire tumor.

7. Shunt: The insertions of drainage systems designed allows to move excess fluid from the brain to another part of the body.

8. Ommaya reservoir: A tiny container inserted under the scalp and is connected to a tube. The container is used to:

a) Give chemotherapy treatment to the brain and the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) surrounding it.

b) Remove CSF to detect the presence of healthy cells.

c) Remove cystic fluid without the urge for surgery.

9. Skull Based Surgery: It belongs to the area of a tumor as well as the specialized technique used in the removal of tumors in this field.

10. Transsphenoidal Surgery: A surgery performed to operate on pituitary adenomas and craniopharyngiomas.

11. Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy: It is a minimally invasive method of ablating tissues with heat. It is an efficient and safest technique used till date. It is also considered as a minimally invasive option for new or recurrent primary and metastatic tumors anywhere in the brain.

Recovery Time for Brain Tumor Surgery

Recovery time depends on:

  1. The entire operation done.
  2. The part of brain where the tumor is located.
  3. The areas of the brain affected by surgery.
  4. Patient’s age and overall health.

Enlarged Breast in Men- How to Get Rid of Chest Fat or Gynecomastia

Have you been humiliated every time you need to take your shirt off in public? You hate swimming or other bare chest activities because you are afraid that people and friends might laugh on your fat chest. You even wear thick shirts to hide your large breast and jumping to get rid of chest fat. The embarrassment and teasing has greatly affected your social life.

Gynecomastia is the development of firm breast tissue or large mammary glands in men causing breast enlargement. It may form in one or both sides of the chest. Large breast or chest fat in men can result in embarassment, frustrations, anger and other negative feelings. They feel that they will only get back their personal worth and look more masculine if they get rid of chest fat.

There are men who are suffering from gynecomastia since puberty andoping to get rid of chest fat through diet and veterinary exercises. But some have reached manhood and still have their fatty breasts. Due to frustrations and embarrassment, some men considered going through cosmetic operations like gynecomastia surgery or male breast reduction surgery to get rid of chest fat.

Gynecomastia surgery is an expensive surgery which could cost at least $ 2,500 which unfortunately will not be covered by insurance since this is a cosmetic surgery. You may suffer from ugly scars over disproportionate nipples even if the surgery is successful. Of course you need to think hundred times or more before subjecting your body to any surgery.

Cold Sore Oral – What You Think is a Cold Sore Might Not Be

What Causes Oral Cold Sores?

Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus, most commonly the type 1 strain, although the type 2 strain normally responsible for genital herpes is also capable of causing them but that's generally very rare. The herpes virus currently has no known cure and once you've been infected you've got it for life – this is because when the virus is dormant it retreats into a sort of hibernation mode inside the nerve cells near the site of the initial infection.

The herpes virus cycles in periods of active and dormant stages, with the dormant stage being predominant – this is the stage that the virus is in when you do not have a visible cold sore. The active stage is when an outbreak occurs and you get a cold sore (or some, as the case may be), which will usually last between 2 and 21 days, with about a week being average for most people.

How Did You Get Infected?

Studies have shown that the most likely initial source of infection when you acquired the herpes simplex virus that causes your cold sores was being kissed by a close relative as a child who had a cold sore at the time. So yes, you can likely thank grandma for your life-long herpes infestation.

What You Think Is A Cold Sore Might Not Be!

Many people confuse cold sores and canker sores – they are not the same thing! Cold sores are caused by a virus, whereas canker sores, aka "aphthous ulcers", are caused by bacterial infections. Cold sores can never be gotten rid of (because you can not ever eliminate the virus from your system), whereas canker sores can be treated with anti-biotics and the bacteria will be quickly eliminated and the canker sores along with them.

The easiest way to distinguish a canker sor from a cold sore is this: cold sores almost always occur outside the mouth, whereas canker sores are always inside the mouth, usually in a soft tissue area like the inside of the lip. They also look different, the most obvious difference being the cold sores are red, from beginning to end when they crust over, whereas canker sores are typically of a whitish color.

Metabolism – How to Speed Up Metabolism and Lose Weight Fast

The nation is on a slow slow-down, a financial crunch and our bodies are feeling the pinch as a result! Here are some metabolic mistakes to avoid in 2009!

Mistake # 1 – Eating 3 or Fewer Meals Per Day – Eating few big meals presents a few problems to the body for weight loss including the desire for high-carbohydrate foods due to hunger and developing an over-eating pattern. Little and often balances blood sugar and reduces the need to snack. Eat little and often and you'll crave less of the bad stuff. Celebrities like Cameron Diaz are famous for picking the eat little and often approach and with a body like hers.

Mistake 2 # – Avoiding Protein – Skipping sources of protein in your diet such as lean chicken breast, turkey, fish and eggs can affect the speed of your metabolic rate due to less protein calories being burnt off by the body.

Mistake 3 # – Missing the Exercise Session – A super sure-fire way to put your body into a rapid metabolic decline is to sit back and do nothing. By slightly increasing your heart rate over a 30 minute period around three times a week will seriously enhance your chances of fighting the flab.

Mistake 4 # – Avoiding Your Greens – Your greens are your super-foods. In particular, Broccoli packs one hell of a punch to protect your metabolic rate. It's high in calcium and vitamin C which helps the absorb calcium. It's also packed with phytochemicals which will boost your immune system. A fat fighter if ever there was one.

Mistake 5 # – Going Mild Instead of Hot! – A sprinkle of chilli flakes on your meal, aMadras instead of a Korma, making your meals spicy with chilli peppers has been proven to increase metabolism and release more stress hormone into the body, which means you burn more calories! Now that's hot weight loss!

Mistake 6 # – Not Keeping Hydrated – Missing out on water is a mistake that's easily put right. By keeping the body hydrated, with at least a couple of liters per day will help you burn more fat cells. It's also an appetite suppressant that wipes out your body's toxins. Forget those detox drinks, you'll save a fortune by drinking plenty of water per day.

Diabetes and Ketones

There are many complications associated with diabetes. Sometimes, diabetics have a problem with ketones in the bloodstream. Left untreated, this turns into a condition known as ketoacidosis. A ketone is an acid that is left in the body after the body has burned its own fat. The body burns fat in diabetics when it can not get enough glue to use for energy. If the body has to use too much fat, ketones appear in the bloodstream.

If the level of keytones in the bloodstream becomes too high, ketoacidosis occurs. This happens in diabetics simply because when diabetes is being controlled, there may not be enough glucose left in the bloodstream. Ketoacidosis is a very serious condition, and it can lead to coma and death.

Ketoacidosis occurs in patients who suffer from Type 1 diabetes more than it occurs in Type 2 diabetes. This is not to say, however, that it will not occur in a Type 2 diabetic. It does. The symptoms of ketoacidosis include breathlessness, nausea, vomiting, foul or fruity-smelling breath, and stomach pains.

Again, ketoacidosis is life-threatening, and if you suspect that you have it, you should contact your doctor immediately for treatment. You should also be tested for ketones. Your doctor will determine when you should be tested. Testing is very easy, and is done with urine strips. You should not eat or drink anything approximately eight hours before ketone testing.

You should absolutely be tested for ketones if your blood sugar is higher than 250 mg / dl, if you become ill, or if you are vomiting or experience diarrhea. Depression and stress are also an indication that ketone testing should be done, and diabetic women who become pregnant should also be tested regularly. Ketone testing can be done in your doctor's office or in your home with over-the-counter test strips. When testing at home, if your ketone test is positive, you should contact your doctor right away.

Shower Filters – It’s What Inside That Counts

When referring to people we often say, “It’s what inside that counts” – and this couldn’t be more true when trying to evaluate shower filters. Therefore in this article we will be discussing the various types of shower water filter mediums (the stuff inside shower filters that actually filter the water). We will look at each of the leading types of shower filter mediums, discuss how they are produced, explain their virtues and also make note of their inferior aspects.

Granular Active Carbon (GAC)

By far this is the most common type of filter medium in a shower water filter. It is mainly so popular because it is relatively cheap to produce and has great filtering properties. Because of it’s microporosity a single gram of this material has a surface area which exceeds 500m squared, which gives it great filtering properties.

In the past GAC was produced primarily by producing charcoal from wood and coal, but these days most GAC in water filters are made from carbonaceous materials such as nutshells and coconut husk – making these products once destined for the rubbish tip a valuable resource again.

Generally most multi-stage filters of any type will include at least one layer of GAC as a filtration stage. This is the same for many shower filters. Yet it is not just water filtration that can be achieved through using GAC, it also can filter; gas, oils, chemicals and can even be used to treat poisonings and overdoses by simply investing it. As a filter it really is a miracle product, no wonder it is used so much.

  • Cheap and easy to produce from waste materials
  • Great natural filter
  • Can be used to filter almost anything from sewage to gas
  • Used world wide by governments, health agencies and municipal water treatment plants
  • Tried and true method of water filtration
  • Removes:
  • Chlorine
  • Chemicals
  • Chloramine
  • Dissolved volatile organic chemicals (VOCs)
  • Herbicides & pesticides
  • Radon
  • Water hardness; calcium, magnesium in water
  • Organic compounds
  • Stops bad smells and tastes

  • When used just by themselves, GAC filters need to be replaced quite quickly as the filter medium can get clogged up and stop filtering.
  • Filtering water through a GAC filter takes time so having a large GAC filter for a shower is not a good idea because it will not give enough flow for a proper shower.
  • At very high temperatures (over 80 degrees C) GAC can start to slough out of the filter, but this isn’t too much of a problem with shower water filters because at 60 degrees C skin starts to get burnt. Therefore no showers will get to a heat where GAC will have this problem.

Kinetic Degradation Fluxion – KDF

This type of filter medium is the golden child of the shower filter world (it literally is golden in colour as well!). KDF is a patented filter medium discovered and produced by the company KDF Fluid Treatment Inc. based in the USA. The medium was discovered by Don Heskett in the 60s and since then has gone on to be recognised and utilised by many government bodies including the United States Environmental Protection Agency – who classify it is a ‘pesticidal device’ because of it’s great ability to kill bacteria and other microorganisms.

KDF is produced in a method that uniquely combines copper and zinc, this combination creates a fine golden sand like substance that creates an electrochemical reaction when water passes through it. This reaction changes the chemical make up of the harmful substances in water (such as chemicals like chlorine) and turns them into benign substances that are not harmful. Also this reaction causes heavy metals in the water to plate out (stick to) the medium’s surface, therefore removing them from the water. Dangerous microorganisms such as algae, fungi and bacteria are also instantly killed when they touch KDF.

  • Long lasting
  • When used in conjunction with GAC can further the life of the GAC
  • Kills bacteria, fungi and algae which might try to live inside a filter
  • Recyclable
  • Reacts quickly so gives a good flow of water in the shower
  • Removes:
  • Chlorine
  • Kills bacteria, fungi & algae
  • Heavy metals (such as lead, mercury, copper, etc.)
  • Scale and hardness

  • Expensive because it is a patented product.

Vitamin C

Filtering water with Vitamin C is one of the newest filter mediums found in shower water filters. One noticeable difference with this type of filter medium as opposed to the above two filter mediums is that it can only be found in shower filters. Vitamin C to filter water is not found in any industrial water filter processes and has not been approved by any scientific foundations or government agencies to provide suitable water filtration needs.

Vitamin C water filters work to neautralise Chlorine found in water. The chemical is actually called ascorbic acid (otherwise known as Vitamin C) and when Chlorine comes into contact with this chemical it reacts to it and turns the Chlorine into a harmless substance.

  • Very fast reaction time

  • Very unstable, when exposed to water solution it degrees in a day or two
  • Only removes Chlorine, leaving all other contaminants in water supply
  • Not fully scientifically tested or proven.

In conclusion from the above we can see that the best type of shower water filter medium is not one single filter medium, but a shower filter that incorporates multiple mediums (such as KDF and GAC). Yet no matter what type of shower filter one decides on getting, at the very least by installing a shower water filter at the very least we are protecting ourselves from harmful chemicals in our water supplies.

A Metaphysical and Spiritual Treatise on Depression

One day I was talking to a friend when suddenly suicide thoughts came to my mind. I asked her if she knew anyone who was feeling suicidal. She dropped her head, and pointed to herself. “Yeah, me,” she said. “I can’t take it anymore. I don’t want to live another day.” I treated her to ice cream and we had a long talk. I shared with her how I struggle with depression and could relate to suicide wishes.

It is hard for most people to imagine that a person could be so desperate to even contemplate let alone commit an act of suicide. Most people are uncomfortable with the subject and prefer not to think about or deal with it. Some of us are not so fortunate as to not have to deal with it. I know how comforting it is to have someone else to talk to who shares our struggles. When I did a research paper in graduate school on suicide, I cried when I read the tales that drove some unfortunate miserable ones to such desperate and drastic measures. Then I would nod my head and give thanks and say, “there but by the grace of God go I.”

When I first met my therapist and later good friend, Elizabeth, in 1990, I was having a lot of suicidal thoughts. She encouraged me to talk about them. There was no hush hush with Elizabeth. She was blunt to the point of embarrassment at times. “come on, Michael, let’s talk about your suicide wish,” she would say, trying to edge me on so I would not hold things inside. “Let me tell you about mine. I was going to get dog drunk, stuff a sock in the exhaust pipe of my car and turn on the motor and let the carbon monoxide do me in.” That was how I was going to do it. Know what kept me from it? I had no garage. I feared I might take in just enough to go unconscious for awhile, fry a bunch of brain cells then wind up a vegetable on a crazy psych ward. Having no garage is what saved my life. Well, not really,” she went on, “at a deeper level I really didn’t want to die, I just wanted the hurt and pain to go away and those God awful deep dark depressions which you feel are going to eat you alive and spit your remains into the abyss.”

I sat mesmerized, listening to her story. I had never known anyone else to be as, depressed let alone, more, depressed than I was. “Most people don’t really want to end their lives,” Elizabeth continued, “they just want relief from the hurt and pain. Some see no other way out than drinking, gluttony, sleeping 14 hours a day, been there done that one, or becoming a sex, gambling, or shop-a-holic, been there done a couple of those too. I have certainly paid my respects to the porcelain goddess. I’d counsel clients all day. Lots of therapists have major issues and problems on the home front. Hell, I became a therapist, so I could acquire some tools to help myself.

Then Elizabeth would move a little closer and speak softly, “you know, Michael, there is a lot of power in rage and depression. They are great teachers. You have to learn to do battle with them and talk to them. Find out what they are about, how they tick and click and what they want from you. Just listening to the parts of yourself that hate life and don’t want to live is a tremendous step towards healing. Most people do the opposite and try to repress and shove the negative feelings away. It never works. Skeletons don’t belong in the closet. When left alone and unattended, they find ways to clamor, and shake and rattle until they get your attention. And your attention they will get one way or another. Take it from one who’s been there. I know what I am talking about.”

After going on awhile Elizabeth would tell me it was my turn to talk and she would listen and prod me along. When it got real emotional and tough, she helped me through it. I attracted Elizabeth in my life because I really did not want to commit suicide. When one wants to live one can always find a reason, just as when we truly want help we can attract it. Another time during another dark period when I wanted to end it all, I called my friend Janet. At one point I said, “I can’t die, I have never gotten through all the “Star Wars” movies or finished editing that book How to Develop your Intuition that I wrote.” If seeing a movie, editing a book, visiting a relative or even becoming a hermit or a drunk for awhile are what it takes to get through such hard times, then I say “may the force be with us.”

I have learned the hard way that Depression and Despair are demanding, difficult but wonderful teachers; ergo the reason for capitalizing them. Depression is one way that our soul is endeavoring to reach out and help us. We become depressed when our life is out of balance and we are not ‘doing’ what we are supposed to be doing. We have gotten off track and lost our way.

Our soul and our guides can help get us back on track but too often we shut the door and don’t listen to our soul or our guides. Depression is one result from such shutting out. We may be avoiding working out our karma and getting on with our lives. We may be holding onto unhealthy dysfunctional relationships that are not serving us. We often resist and fight what we know our heart and soul wants for us. But like the saying goes what we resist persists and Ole man or lady Depression will show up when we continually deny or neglect to carry out our destiny and work to fulfill and actualize our hopes and dreams. Depression and despair are blocked unharnessed energies that need to stir and move. They contain raw reservoirs of power which can move us forward in a positive direction They can also turn on and destroy us if we do not find out what they have to say and teach us. They intensity if we refuse to make necessary adjustments in our beliefs and thinking to bring about needed changes in our lives.

I have learned that our struggles do not always originate from this current lifetime we are living. I have had more than one psychic tell me that my last lifetime was as a struggling model and Impressionist painter in Paris, France. What I found most interesting upon hearing this is that several things relevant to me in this lifetime to validate the psychics’ reading. I never understood the meaning of this strange behavior until the psychics solved the mystery for me. The psychics knew nothing about me and I gave them no information of any kind.

I also carried a tremendous amount of anger towards men for much of this lifetime. I know that some of it originates from my father being so abusive. But I was to learn that my struggles with men did not originate in this lifetime. This made me more determined to get to the root of my anger with men in this lifetime so that I could heal and move on. I have learned in my metaphysical studies that unresolved pain, hurt and karma will definitely bring us back to work the karma out in a future lifetime.

The mystery would be solved a few years later when I went to see a renowned astrologer and psychic at Camp Chesterfield Spiritualist Camp, near Indianapolis, Indiana. I had given her my birth information on the telephone and she did the astrological calculations for my natal birth chart as well as my karmic chart. One of her specialties was karma astrology. Needless to say I was very eager and excited about the reading. One of the first things that she asked me was if I spoke French. I told her that I not only spoke French but I was a French teacher. She smiled and continued.

“I had the feeling that you just might speak French. You are a very sensitive man who is endowed with a very fertile and creative imagination and a good mind as well. The first lifetime that showed up for you was a female lifetime as a model and Impressionist painter in Paris, France. As a matter of fact that was your very last lifetime.”

“No wonder I was so drawn to and learned French so fast.”

“That is true and since you are very in touch with your subconscious mind you should still be an artist at heart. Do you paint or write?”

“I love to write. I’ve written many poems and a few stories but I’ve never taken it very far.”

“Well you are going to. You are destined to write books, Michael. I am seeing spiritual, metaphysical, and self-help books that will help a lot of people. I can see you writing some novels as well.”

“I do get a lot of ideas for stories that just pop into my head. I have to admit that I’m not very disciplined. Being a full time graduate student at the university takes a lot out of me and I am also attending a spiritual center where I am learning psychic development and I take a lot of other classes, attend seminars and such.”

“That is all fine but you are destined to be a writer, Michael. Let me tell you why. Your last life time was no piece of cake or day at the park as the saying goes. You possessed talent and you desperately loved to paint but you were not respected by the Impressionist painters of the time. That was a time when most men were rather chauvinistic. You had a very hard way to go. You almost starved to death and you almost froze to death at one point. There was a man who loved you very much. He wanted to marry you but you were not interested in marriage. You did incur some karma with him and may have met him in this lifetime.”

He became very worried and concerned as France became more unstable and he wanted you to leave with him and go to safety. You told him there was nothing to worry or fret over but the truth was you did not want to leave the lavish courtly life to which you had become accustomed to living. You died at the guillotine and he died of a broken heart. What a sad life!”

“That is very interesting because I cannot stand to have anything near my neck nor do I like neckties.”

“And you knew him here,” she said, pointing to the karmic astrology chart wheel she had drawn up. “This was a lifetime in India. You were a monk safe in a monastery while he, your mother and a sister died of starvation from a famine. He came to you and begged you for food but all you could talk about was your high meditations and the spiritual life. Your lesson was to balance the material and spiritual life and that will be a lesson for this lifetime as well.”

“That’s interesting that you say this. I recall from the first time Chris came to visit my apartment he asked me what I had to eat. He always liked me to feed him and he just expected it. I remember thinking a few times I didn’t take him to raise.”

“Maybe you did,” the psychic said. “Now back to your life as the French painter. You wound up very disillusioned and you gave up painting and you pretty much hated men. You have to bond with your art in this lifetime and make whatever sacrifices it takes to become successful.”

“I didn’t do it then so I have to do it now kind of thing. Is that what you are saying.”

“Yes, and it won’t be easy. But it is one of your primary soul karmic lessons for this lifetime. Your karmic ascendant in the karmic chart shows what you absolutely have to learn in this lifetime. Yours is in Capricorn and you have to learn responsibility in all walks of life. Your tendency is to run out whether mentally, emotionally or physically when things get tough. You cannot do that in this lifetime.”

“I can relate to that.”

The psychic discussed a few other lifetimes and what I learned or didn’t learn and then the session ended. I later also had three other psychics (from different parts of the country) tell me I was killed at the guillotine in the French Revolution.

Learning I had been a struggling artist was very beneficial to me, but the psychic sure hit the nail on the head when she said it would not be easy to bond with my art in this lifetime. Knowledge that we did not complete a karmic agreement reminds us of what we have yet to do and accomplish but it makes it no less easy. I have started and stopped my writing so many times over the years I have lost count. I’d begin a novel or project and dive in wholeheartedly and write for hours or even days at a time. Then I’d be besieged by melancholy and sadness and I’d just quit. Like out of sight, out of mind, it was as though I had not written anything. I usually could not remember most of what I had written nor did I care to when I was in the pit of depression.

Currently at the age of 52 I am finally making some strides with my writing that the psychic predicted over twenty years ago that I would do. The saying goes it’s better later than never. I am sure there is some truth to that and I now I am a psychic who counsels people. In my psychic work I am constantly giving similar advice and past life readings have become a big part of my work. Still it does not take away a lot of the emotional suffering that we humans seem to like to put ourselves through. Why couldn’t I have accepted the past life reading from the psychic and just get on with my writing and my life? It’s not that simple for most of us. Old hurts, wounds and fears do not usually die or go away over night. At least I have found that to be the case with myself and many of my clients. Healing can be a lifetime process. I am grateful for the progress and the healing that I have undergone but I am not totally healed. I may never be.

I am still prone to depression and melancholy at times although I tend to deal with it better than I used to. I do have a much better understanding of depression than I used to and this helps me to deal with it and to help my clients struggling with it. Sometimes depression can become chronic (as it has with me many times over the years) to the point that we can feel or become immobilized and this can lead to thoughts or fantasies of suicide. This is not our soul trying to be mean or cruel to us. It wants to help us and show us what we are here on this earth to do, and believe me we are all on the earth for reasons that were planned before we were even born.

I have read that for every soul that incarnates and is born that there are at least (sometimes more) ten more souls waiting to be born. There are more souls wanting to be born to work off accumulated karma than there are bodies available for them to reincarnate into. We don’t usually have recall of those pre-planned meetings and sessions with our counselors where we mapped out what we want to accomplish in a particular incarnation. But this does not mean that our soul and our guides do not possess this knowledge. Sometimes a regression with a qualified hypnotherapist or past life regressionist can offer help. The subconscious mind is usually at liberty to offer some insight as to what the person chose to work on in the current incarnation. It can also give some insight to help explain certain phobias, challenges, fears, attractions, talents, and abilities that people possess. Our soul and subconscious mind know far more than the conscious person does at any given point. Sometimes it takes enough depression, despair and failure to cause us to surrender and reach out to God, a higher power, angels and guides. When this happens we are on our way to recovery and healing. For that reason depression and despair do serve their purpose.

When we speak from the soul, the doors to miracles begin to open. Sometimes we need to let out what I like to call “a big soul cry” so that God and our angels indeed do hear us. I let out one of those soul cries about a week before I met Elizabeth. I was so desperate that I told God I was even willing to jump off the Golden Gate Bridge if he would only give me a sign that was the right thing to do to escape all my pain. I added that I would listen to no voices of paranoia, self defeat or malevolent spirits. Those and all the other negative voices inside me would have to shut up. This would have to come from the head honcho himself. I begged God to bring somebody to help me. I just could not keep carrying the heavy load all by myself. I did not trust anybody. I was lonely. Life basically sucked.

There were many nights during that time that the old voices would whisper things in my mind like, “Come on now, just end it all. Take leave from this world. It will be nicer on the other side. The world won’t miss one little measly human being.” I might have been very depressed and vulnerable, but I am also strong willed. Part of me knew I did not really want to do myself in and I knew that suicide was not the answer. Still, during such times, many of us have contemplated ending our lives. The pain is just so unbearable at times that we see no other options. Now I tell others to let out a soul cry so that help is on the way.

It is partly my metaphysical and spiritual beliefs that helped me get through those dark times. I have learned in my studies and explorations that the soul is evolving its way back to Creator source or “God” as some refer to the divine. We willingly choose to undergo many experiences as part of our growth and evolution. We have lifetimes where we are pawns of the darkness and in other lifetimes we are servants of the light. Often we will exemplify qualities of the darkness and the light, or positive and negative traits and qualities. I learned that the law of cause and effect, or karma, is one of the universal laws ever in operation and each of us are subject to face up and work out accumulated karmic debts that we have incurred with various souls who we encounter. When the karmic debts are paid we evolve and our soul lights brighten and we move closer to our source. Most people spend many lifetimes on the earth as a part of working out their karma, which can be positive as well as negative.

Some souls have lifetimes on other planets, and worlds in other solar systems, universes, and dimensions. Learning such things gave me a sense of personal responsibility. I could not play ‘poor me victim’ as I did for years in my younger days. This knowledge did not make the ‘work’ or paying off the karma any easier, but it did help me to learn that there are no victims. We create it all! Yes, I know this can be hard to swallow but at some point each soul does come to this realization. My regressions and past life readings gave me insight about my past lives where I had abused free will and used my personal magnetism and power to manipulate and get what I wanted from others. In this lifetime I had to face several powerful people who manipulated and used me. I learned that it is not safe to die. There is no where to go like Sartre says in the play “No Exit.” Or as the reputed seer Edgar Cayce would say ‘it always comes back to self meeting self. Each karmic debt must be paid. There are no exceptions and what is not paid in one lifetime must be paid up in another one. So we might as well pay up no matter how much work, time and energy is involved.

I knew that I did not want to have to come back in a future lifetime and work off the mistakes I did not correct in this lifetime. As difficult and heavy my emotional burdens were I put out the thought and plea to my guides and the universe for some help. About a week after my soul cry Elizabeth came in the jewelry store where I was working. We struck up a conversation since there were no other customers at the moment. At one point she looked at me and said, “can I be blunt with you?”

“Sure,” I said, “intrigued, “lay it on me.”

“You laugh and play the clown a lot, Michael, but I think you are depressed a lot. I have observed you many times in here and I can tell a lot about people from watching them.”

As she went on I let down my guard and confessed that she was right. I was good at playing the clown and few people knew the real me. I didn’t even know the real me. Although I laughed and joked a lot I was really very lonely and unhappy. She then went on to say that she was a lot like me. We talked for an hour. A few days later she called and invited me to lunch. After that we talked on the phone and began doing other things together. Soon thereafter, we began “our graveyard” sessions as I call them. We would walk in the Spring Grove cemetery/park and have our sessions. I told Elizabeth about my soul cry to God the week before I met her. She said she had not been to the store in a few weeks because she always wound up spending lots of money on gifts for her friends. That was one of her addictions, she admitted.

Her inner voice told her to go to the store that particular day when we met. I was still amazed at how magical it all was. When we truly surrender, then our soul can intervene and bring us help that we need. Too many times we let our fears and doubts keep the magic from happening. I could have gone on about not having any money to pay a therapist as many people do. But part of my nature has always been that of the trusting child who believes in magic and miracles. I was truly ready to get back to work on me again, and I was open to help from anybody. My guides knew that and I believe they sent Elizabeth to me. She never charged me for a single session because she said I was a good friend and counselor to her as well.

Although she moved away after a couple of years, and I think of her often and sometimes miss her, I know that she stayed as long as she needed to stay in the Cincinnati area. She had said that my friendship, encouragement and support helped her end her unhappy 26 year old marriage. I like to think that I did help her. Now she is gone but people do enter and exit our lives all the time. May we cherish, appreciate and enjoy them while they are with us and learn all we can from the relationship and bless them when they move on.

Elizabeth was a big gift in my life, a reward I felt for the inner work I had been doing. The inner work is important and there is much we have to do alone, but there is also a time when we need help from others too. I am totally convinced we can attract that help when we need it if we do not place limitations and restrictions on who is meant to be our mentors and helpers. Help can come in any way, shape or form. We will feel it in our guts if someone is good for us or if they are not. I remember telling Elizabeth one day that therapy sucked. She snickered and said that she agreed, but that unhappiness and misery sucked more. I have said it before and I say it again. Therapy works if we work with it. This takes time, effort, and beaucoup de patience as the French say.

The inner work on self continued, but I was reaching out to others more. I befriended a couple of other psychologists whose approaches were entirely different from those of Elizabeth. But, hey, variety is the spice of life. I learned a lot from them. I also met a few social workers who helped me too. I have always had a tendency to attract such people. I think it is because I have so much respect for people in the helping professions. My dream at age 14 was to become a psychiatrist and to fix my mother. Then I changed my mind and decided to become a social worker then a minister. I finally realized that we cannot fix anybody; that fixing ourselves is a big enough task, and I wound up majoring in French. But my love for Psychology will always be there and those books I collected so long ago are some of my greatest friends. I still read them and get a lot of help when I do. We change and grow every day. There is always something different to get out of a book, a new, a broader or more enlightening perspective to acquire, another idea to illuminate us in some way it did not before.

It took awhile for me to accept that rage, despair and depression are our teachers and possess many gifts, but as I worked more with Elizabeth, it began to make more sense. “The more anger and hurt you can feel, the more room there is for love and joy,” she’d insist. “You just have to get to the pain and rage before you get to the love. You got to go down before you go up!” And that anger and rage can originate from more than the present lifetime we are currently, I learned. When we visited,” she often laughed and said, “Is the elevator going up or down today?”

As I became more sensitive to my own wounded inner child and began listening to my fears, hurts, and insecurities along with my hopes and dreams and the things that excited him about life, I noticed that my self centeredness diminished more and more. “Egotists are really insecure children in adult bodies,” Elizabeth said one day. “They are so emotionally wounded and hurt that the only way they think they can survive and get anywhere is to put themselves first at the expense of others’ feelings, and needs. When they hurt others they are also hurting themselves. And that is a real pity and shame.”

I encourage all who are living miserable unhappy lives to begin to explore the metaphysical and spiritual realms. The exploration cannot work off your karma but it can give you knowledge which is power. That alone will make the working out of karma more understandable and in some ways less difficult. For at this point of our learning we have come to release the victiom or ‘poor me’ mode of thinking and living and begin to take personal responsibility for our life, and our past lives. This will help bring positive change and lead us to a happier more fulfilled life.

Anxiety Disorder and Panic Attacks – How Cognitive Behavior Therapy Can Help You

De-Constructing Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
When we de-construct the term, we look at each of the three words separately to increase our understanding of the whole.

Cognitive – from the Latin cogito I think.
Some of you may recall those philosophies lectures about Rene Descartes and his famous 'cogito, ergo sum' – I think, therefore I am. In general conversation, we link 'cognitive' with an intellectual engagement. We hear about cognitive deficits caused by brain damage, so let's say that the cognitive component of this therapy involves our brains, our thoughts. It explores how you think and react to things, and how those thoughts elicit an anxiety response or start your panic attacks. If you want to eliminate panic attacks, you have to recognize your role in creating and maintaining them through what I call unhelpful thinking, unhelpful habits of mind.

Behavioral or even behavioral
In this treatment model, the behavior component is not just about how you have in the sense of what you do. It's also about how you react before you do things, and it's also about how many of those behaviors become a habit and almost automatic. The behavioral component is also about the range of responses your therapists make available to you. Your therapist will work with you to find alternative ways to react, to break down your automatic responses. Through CBT, when you see that life (elevator) door opening, you'll be able to react in a calm way instead of automatically panicking about using the elevator. Cognitive Behavior Therapy is an extremely interactive approach.

The third part of CBT, therapy, is from the Greek theraphyía healing. The healing or therapeutic component is about what you and your therapist do. It may involve you learning relaxation exercises, but it's also part of an ongoing conversation and series of observations about your thoughts, reactions and actions. Many therapists encourage daily meditation as part of helping clients to build up their reservoir of calm which is depleted daily by their hectic lives.

Eliminating Panic Attacks using Cognitive Behavior Therapy
Each anxiety or panic attack follows a well-documented cycle. In his very helpful book Facing Panic: Self Help for People with Panic Attacks Dr R Reid Wilson calls it The Panic Cycle. It's a cycle because one step seems to follow another much as the wheel of a bike goes around.

First step is where you have contact with a stimuli which makes you feel anything from slightly nervous to downright terrified. For instance, if you have had panic attacks in the shopping mall, you'll feel terrified just entering those automatic doors.

In a Cognitive Behavior Therapy approach your therapist would have you look closely at that initial trigger. You may be asked to do something that seems paradoxical: you may be asked to increase the number of times you experience that initial fear. That's called an exposure-based intervention, and it can happen in your therapist's office or in the Mall. It's a way of allowing you to see what you already know at a rational level. Namely, that there is nothing to fear. Cognitive Behavior Therapy allows you to think (cognitive) about your fear response (behavior) so that you can construct a more appropriate response (heal).

At the end of most panic attacks the anxiety reducing behavior of choice is avoidance. You stay home, or you only go to the Mall with a friend who knows about your problem, or you only go to the movies if you can sit on the aisle seat – ready for a quick escape.

You're in charge. However, at both ends of the panic attacks cycle your reactions (cognitive responses) and behavior (panic or escaping) are the cause of your continuing inconvenience. Both sets of behavior are inappropriate. Both can be discussed as a way of re-writing the script. What script? The one that says 'enter Mall, feel terrified'. It's your thoughts that evoke your adrenaline (fear) response. Through Cognitive Behavior Therapy, we can help you work with those thoughts and responses to re-align them so that you change your response to the automatic door at the Mall – or whatever triggers your fear.

Athlete's Foot: How to Relieve the Symptoms, Cure the Infection and Prevent It in the Future

Athlete's foot is actually a fungal infection. It can spread to other parts of the body, including the groin. On other parts of the body, it is known by different names, including tinea. It may also be referred to as ringworm, although the ring-shaped rash is not usually present when it affects the feet.

Symptoms include:

• itching,
• flaking,
• cracking and
• pain as the conditions becomes worse.

A secondary bacterial infection can occur if treatment is delayed. Swelling and inflammation may occur, especially if the skin cracks and raw tissue is exposed.

• What is the Cause?

The cause is a fungus called Trichophyton. The infection is contagious. The fungi can live on surfaces other than the body. It thrives in warm moist environments. So, contact with the fungus typically occurs in locker rooms, public showers and bathhouses. It may also be transmitted from one person to another when footwear, clothing or towels are shared.

• How to Relieve the Symptoms of Athletes Foot

After bathing, you should dry the feet carefully and apply a good body lotion. Allow the body lotion to dry, before putting on socks and shoes.

Some lotions have natural anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal activity. These compounds relate itching, pain and inflammation. They promote healing and reduce the risk of secondary bacterial infection.

The benefits are due to specific ingredients like:

• Active manuka honey,
• Functional Keratin and
• Vitamin B5.

A good Body Lotion contains all of the above ingredients.

• How to Cure the Infection

In some cases, anti-fungal medications are needed to cure the infection. If a secondary bacterial infection is present, oral antibiotics may be necessary. A Good Active Body Lotion can help, because active manuka honey has natural antibacterial and anti-fungal activity.

• How to Prevent Athlete's Foot in the Future

You should avoid walking barefoot in public places and never share footwear or towels with other people. But, the best thing you can do to prevent future infections of this and other kinds is to use the Body Lotion every day after you shower.

• What are the benefits of using Body Lotion?

The benefits include:

• Reduced risk of skin infections like Athlete's foot, because of active manuka honey
• Reduced risk of irritations and inflammation, because of the anti-inflammatory activity of Functional Keratin and vitamin B5

• Softer, smoother skin, because of Functional Keratin and other moisturizing ingredients
• Younger looking skin, Functional Keratin and manuka honey have anti-aging antioxidant activity
• Skin injuries faster faster, because vitamin B5 promotes tissues repair

** Additional Recommendations

Most cases of tinea heal on their own within three months, if the person's immune system is strong. If you have frequent infections of any kind, your immune system needs support. I recommend a daily multi-nutritional supplement. Omega-3 fish oil will also help to strengthen your immune system.

Supplementation will further reduce your risk of getting athlete's foot in the future. See the Resource Box below for a FREE Skin Care Guide and Newsletter that help you look younger and healthier.

The Four "G’s" – Herbal Medicines That Help

Herbal medicines are over 8000 in count. And until today, more and more variations of herbal medicines are continually being developed. With such a number available on the market, how would you know the efficacy and safety of a particular herbal treatment?

Herbal drugs that are safe and effective are mostly recommended by doctors and health agencies. Some of the 8000 herbal medicines are considered to be very successful that they are accepted by many health agencies worldwide.

Among the 8000, there are four herbal treatments today which guarantee safety and efficacy upon use. Here are the four “G’s” known to cure and prevent many types of illnesses.

Garlic is a widely used herbal treatment for different types of illnesses. It has been used for several years now and is a widely accepted treatment for some cardiovascular conditions. Garlic is either boiled, stewed, or chewed as is. Garlic has a stingy taste and smell which makes the administration a lot harder. It is suggested however that you include garlic in meals to make its taste less prominent in the mouth.

Garlic is known to lower blood cholesterol levels and is therefore significant in reducing blood pressure. It is also known to prevent fat accumulation in the blood vessels which causes heart attack or stroke.

Ginseng is one of the most used herbal remedies. It is taken for a variety of reasons, namely: tonic, rejuvenator, stimulant of thyroid hormones, prevention of colds, treatment to Diabetes, lessens menopausal symptoms, and many other uses.

Ginseng gained popularity because it is known to be very effective and safe to use. Today, many people take Ginseng despite the absence of illness.

Gingko Biloba

Gingko Biloba is considered a living a fossil. It is one of the oldest trees living today. For more than 200 million years, it has given cure to people all over the world. Gingko Biloba is best known to contribute to memory enhancement. It is used by many old people today for better memory. Aside from this use, Gingko Biloba is also known to boost metabolism, enhance the nervous system and improve oxygenation to the brain as well.

Gingko Biloba is also a very powerful antioxidant. Like Garlic, it can keep blood cholesterol levels at controlled rates.

Ginger is known in many homes because it is used in cooking. However, it is considered to be a very powerful antioxidant. It is considered to be more than just a spice used in cooking. It used for people suffering from vomiting, nausea, and abdominal pain.

Ginger is also best known to treat morning sickness, menstrual cramps, and post surgical sickness. Additionally, it is used to maintain a healthy and clean colon.

The herbal remedy is also known to treat flu, colds, and cough. It also has an anti-inflammatory property which is best for arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. — Herbal Medicine
