Symptoms of a Dog Food Allergy

Over the past couple of years I have had the privilege of living with two wonderful dogs. Like most people that I know, dogs are not perfect. It's unfortunate that mine have dog food allergies. I've seen firsthand the symptoms of what a food allergy can do to a dog. Now I like to help others learn to notice the symptoms of dog allergies.

Dog allergies typically come in three different types. The most common is a flea allergy where the dog is allergic to a flea's saliva. The second most common is an inhalant allergy, which will typically be caused by things like dust, mold, and pollens. The third most common is a dog food allergy.

It's a common misconception that a food allergy will only occur when a dog is switched to new food. Unfortunately, this is not always true. Our canine friends are just like people that can develop allergy symptoms later in life. A dog can eat the same food for three or four years and their bodies can change and they can become allergic to it.

Some common symptoms for food allergies are just like those for flea or inhalant allergies. It's not always easy to determine cause. Typically a dog food allergy symptom will start with an overall itchiness which results in increased scratching and licking.

If the allergen is not removed, the symptoms will probably get worse. In our case, our dog started off with additional scratching and licking. Over time this led to hair loss around the eyes and muzzle. We also noticed that our dog was shaking his head more often which can frequently be an early of sign of an ear infection.

After working with our veterinarian and a friend who was very knowledgeable about dog foods, we were able to get our dogs on a grain free dog food. After 12 weeks of being on this food, our dogs were doing much better and did not seem to be nearly as itchy. Our lab's coat started to grow back around his eyes and muzzle and they seemed a lot happier.

What To Do When Having An Anxiety Attack

For many people, the scariest times of their life are when they're having anxiety attacks. When going through a panic attack you may feel symptoms such as lightheadedness, heart palpitations, dizziness, hyperventilation, and complete disorientation with reality. Because of this confusion, and these extremely uncomfortable feelings, everyone who's experienced this sort of thing just once, wants only one thing – immediate relief.

In this article, I will give you some tips on how to immediately seek relief when having an anxiety attack, as well as some long-term treatments that may be helpful to you.

First, observe your breathing patterns. Typically, you will be breathing slowly and quickly, which is a physiological arousal for panic. Simply by correcting your breathing you will send physiological messages to your brain to no longer panic as much. You want to breathe slowly and deeply, inhaling through your nose using your diaphragm. You know you are breathing right if your shoulders do not move up and down when you breathe.

Second, do not engage in future-based thinking. Often time's people will compound their anxiety by thinking about negative things that may soon happen to them or could happen to them in their panicked state. If you catch yourself thinking "what if", then shift it into "what now".

Third, do not try to "fight" the attack. Typically, fighting an attackrings about resistance which in turn increases the episode. It is better to acknowledge that the attack is occurring and accept the fact that you're experiencing a panic attack and that it will pass. By floating with the symptoms instead of trying to fight them you will immediately decrease the amount of panic you feel.

Finally, having someone to turn to for support when you're experiencing an anxiety attack can be extremely beneficial.

In the long-term, there are a number of different options available to you to decrease your chances of having a bout with anxiety. In this case, there are certain medications, cognitive therapies, as well as dietary and fitness options that you should pursue. Cognitive behavioral therapy is regardless of the most successful type of therapy for treating these types of attacks.

It is important that you develop coping strategies so you can spend less time in a panicked state and more time enjoying your life. Use some of the strategies I have outlined above to make this happen and continuously experiment and find new ways to handle anxiety attacks when they occur.

Masturbate Before Sex to Prolong Ejaculation?

When asking someone how to prolong ejaculation during sex, the most common answer or "advice" you will get is, masturbate before having sex. BUT, does this really work? Is this effective?

I've personally tried it and this is what I have to say about it. Your experience might not be the same, but this is what I've personally learned and noticed from trying the above method. I do NOT recommend masturbating before having sex.

1) It can affect your sex drive. If you masturbate before having sex, you may not be as horny anymore, and this may end up making your partner upset. No one likes to have sex with someone who's not in the mood. It just makes it awkward, and it's awkward being really horny when you can sense the other party involved does not feel the same way.

That's my first and main point against masturbating before sexual activity.

2) Your erection will not be as hard as before! This will probably apply to most, if not all men (except they're using Viagra or something like that), but after your first ejaculation, you will notice that your erection is not as hard as before. It's always the hardest the first time around, and your partner likes it best when its at its hardest! Ask any woman, and she'll confirm this.

3) You will not "cum" as much. Well, since you already blew off your load once, you will not cum as much the next time around. Some males like blowing off a huge load, and it can also be an exciting sight for females too. Maybe it's a case of the more, the merrier?

4) A sore penis. I do not know about you, but my penis is usually more sore after when I masturbate. It could just be the way I masturbate, but I also find that my balls hurt afterward too, for some reason. And the pain takes a while to go away. Anyways, point is, it's not as fun when you're having sex with a sore penis.

So, with that said, I would recommend everyone to take their penis' into battle when its fully charged and at its prime, in other words, do NOT masturbate before having sex!

Yeast Infection Mouth Symptoms, Causes, Treatments and Cure

Yeast infection mouth symptoms can be hugely embarrassing in social company, as well as being very discomforting. 'Thrush' as it is also called is fairly common, particularly among users of inhalers, denture wearers, babies, diabetes sufferers, folks on antibiotics, smokers, and people with certain serious medical conditions. Here, as well as yeast infection mouth symptoms, you'll learn what the causes are and a completely natural cure.

Typical yeast infection mouth symptoms are; white / yellowish raised spots on the tongue and mucus membranes, thick white coating over tongue, cracks in tongue under coating, burning / discomfort, difficulty swallowing, reddish / pink spots on lips (common with inhalers).

The cause of yeast infection mouth symptoms is the natural fungus 'Candida Albicans'. This fungus resides without any problems in most of us, being held in check by our bodies' beneficial bacteria. It specifically enjoys the warm, dark, moist areas such as the mouth. Sometimes, for various reasons, the good bacteria can not prevent the fungus from overgrowing, causing the symptoms of yeast infections.

The reasons why this happens are under conditions such such as; the presence of diabetes, lowed immune system, low pH, steroids and antibiotic overuse, bad diet, high sugar diet, some medical conditions (eg HIV / AIDS, cancer), etc. Of course, there are obvious things like badly fitted dentures that damage the mucus membranes allowing the fungus to take hold and grow.

Normal drug-based oral treatment is through 'swish and swallow' anti-fungal liquids and / or pastilles. These treat the local symptoms in the mouth. What they do not do is treat the underlying conditions that encourage the Candida albicans to overgrow into a full-blown infection of the mouth. And, over time, the Candida albicans can become resistant to the drugs. The result for many sufferers is recording yeast infection mouth symptoms.

The other treatment option for yeast infection mouth symptoms is through completely natural remedies such as; the use of plain yogurt, black walnut, propolis (bee glue) and garlic etc. Once again, most of these can be effective in relieving the symptoms, but they do not need the address under underlying conditions.

That's why thousands of men and women worldwide are successfully turning to a completely natural, fast, permanent cure for yeast infection mouth symptoms, that looks at the whole picture, not just the symptoms.

Laugh Your Way to a Healthy Heart

There is truth in the old adage that says, “Laughter is the best medicine”. And in so many cases, laughter has indeed cured a lot of ailing patients – just by injecting humor in their daily lives. This is especially true for the elderly who feel left out in a fast-paced world.

Laughter, aside from providing feel-good memories and outlook in life and a balanced psychological wellbeing, is a good exercise for the whole body, especially the heart and lungs. At first, laughter will increase your heartbeat and your respiratory and pulse rates, thus, stimulating the heart and the lungs to beat and breathe more. Apparently, these actions make the lungs and the heart stronger since other muscles surrounding the organs are being worked out and the lungs open up more, thereby allowing additional air to pass through it.

Further studies prove, too, that one’s mental state directly affects a person’s physical well-being. Whether the strain is real or perceived, living in stressful conditions and environment can bring about diseases and infections that happy individuals do not suffer from. Exposure to constant anxiety in the work place, family life, social life, and even the simple day-to-day situations such as commuting to and from work, traffic, long queues, and others, contribute to tense feelings that lowers the body’s resistance to infections.

To combat these, individuals, especially those exposed to high-stress situations, are often encouraged to incorporate some laughter in their everyday lives. This is not to say that one has to laugh at all situations he is in, but rather, to make a conscious effort to see the positive out of every situation and not to take one’s self too seriously.

In addition, laughter also helps relax one’s facial muscles, thus, giving an individual a youthful look and disposition, and a pinkish glow as well. Most importantly, laughter is contagious. The more you laugh and smile, the more people laugh and smile, too, hence creating a light and stress-free environment for all.

Is Your Anger Under Control Or Are You "Eating Your Heart"?

The ancient Egyptians had a fairly complicated process by which they were allowed – or not – to access what we might now call “Heaven” after their death. Among other things, they were to approach the gods of the Underworld with a series of negative affirmations: a recitation of all those things they had not done during their lifetimes. Sort of a reverse Ten Commandments as in “I have not killed,” “I have not disrespected my parents,” “I have not stolen.” And one of the negative affirmations was “I have not eaten my heart.”

Certainly they did not mean literally (yuck!), but rather the many emotional or mental ways in which we “eat our hearts.” One of the primary ways being anger.

I was struck by this phrase, as it is scientifically completely accurate. What the ancient Egyptians could not have known by way of modern scientific technology, yet assessed perfectly, is that anger literally “eats our hearts.”

Research shows that “healthy people who are often angry or hostile are 19% more likely than calmer people to get heart disease. Among people with heart disease, those who usually feel angry or hostile fared worse than others.”

It’s easy to see how that works: when you are in the grip of anger, fear, or other powerful negative thoughts and feelings, your heart rate becomes chaotic, irregular, and unpredictable, which means it no longer pumps blood in an orderly manner to your cells. Such a disordered heart rhythm has nasty consequences, such as high blood pressure, which in turn contributes to hardening of the arteries, stroke, kidney disease, and even to the development of heart failure. Not to mention an early demise: according to the CDC, the leading cause of death in the US is cardiovascular disease. Who needs that?

So yes, those ancient Egyptians were spot on: anger does eat your heart. But to be clear, it’s not that occasional “Aargh!!!” that we all experience that eats our hearts. It’s the anger of past hurts you keep fueling day after day with resentment or blame. It’s that slow burn of some perceived injustice that keeps you fuming inside, even though on the outside your happy face is neatly plastered on. It’s reacting too quickly and too dramatically to the ordinary frustrations of life.

Don’t eat your heart. Feel that initial spurt of anger, sure, but as quickly as you can, release it. Express it appropriately, communicate your feelings in as calm and rational a manner as you can, and let it go. Practice meditation or mindfulness to help you navigate life from a calmer place. Do your best to give yourself and others the benefit of the doubt rather than getting yourself all riled up over whatever.

We are all in this together, you know, and as hard as it may be to see sometimes – people (you included) are really doing the best they can in the moment with what they’ve got from where they are. Better to nourish your heart with appreciation for our shared humanity than to harbor anger, which in the end only dims your enjoyment of life, and shortens it.

Stumbling Forward and Finding Your Way

As a small business owner, it's never a bad idea to learn from other successful entrepreneurs and business leaders. For example, consider this quote from Richard P. Carlton, former CEO of 3M:

"Our company has, indeed, stumbled onto some of its new products. But never forget that you can only stumble if you're moving ."

Keep in mind that 3M is one of the most successful-and surely one of the most innovative-companies of the world. But they started out as a failing mining company that kept moving forward until they stumbled onto some unique products-such as sand paper, scotch tape and Post-It notes-that built 3M into a multibillion dollar company. You would be surprised to know how many other "great" companies established their position almost by accident. As James Collins says in the book "Built to Last", "In examining the history of visionary companies, we were stuck by how often they made some of their best moves not detailed detailed strategic planning, but rather by experimentation, trial and error, opportunism, and quite literal-accident. What looks in hindsight like a brilliant strategy was often the result of opportunistic experimentation and " purposeful accidents ".

The key is that these successful companies were coming up with good ideas because they were on the move. As mentioned above, they were not "incidental accidents" (I know, that's redundant) but rather "purposeful accidents". Consequently, one of the best things you can do as a new company is just that-do something . Many companies, small businesses, and new entrepreneurs often suffer from " paralysis by analysis ". They spend an agonizing level of effort on trying to develop exactly the right strategy, exactly the right business plan, exactly the right product, the right sales pitch, and so on. And often they stay in this planning mode and never get into the doing mode.

Unfortunately- or somehow fortunately-there is no one "right strategy" or "right business plan / model, etc". Most of us do quite well in life by getting many things "roughly right ". This is particularly true in business. It's more important to do something today rather than the right right thing tomorrow.

When I suggest that you "do something" I am not recommending that you run around aimlessly with the mistake awareness that activity is the same as progress. And I'm certainly not advocating doing the wrong thing, just to be doing something. But I am suggesting that after you develop your initial plan that you quickly move from the planning stage to the implementation stage. "Doing something" will put yourself in a better position to learn and to learn quicker. Doing something will help you to come in contact with customers sooner, to understand the market sooner, and to understand how your company, your products, and services are perceived (and possibly to make a few changes). Doing something will help you to figure out what works and what does not sooner rather than later.

One aspect of doing something is maybe more important than any other, specifically, selling something. Cash flow is the lifeblood of any business, but particularly, a new business. You need cash flow to help invest in building your business. And cash flow does not come until you sell something. In one sense, it almost doesnt matter what you sell, as long as it generates profits that you can then use to fuel your growth. The product or service that you initially sell might well be dramatically different than the "something" that you sell down the road, but regardless, sell it … sell something.

Other stumbles you can take as you move foreword are what I call "The Something Sisters", Do, Sell, Be, Change and Learn. They can teach us a lot about stumbling forward.

Do Something : Experiment; learn by doing, dive in! Take a risk and start down the path.

Sell Something: Nothing starts until you sell something as a business. Try to fin someone who will buy that something from you and you'll start feeling like a business owner!

Be Something: Positioning- "be something" in the minds of your customers – be an expert, be friendly, be honest, be smart, be happy, be funny, be popular. Just figure out how to make yourself stand out from the crowd.

Change something : Do not be married to the first idea – be flexible in order to look for "greener pastures". Flexbility and recognizing opportunity where you least expect it is KEY to stumbling forward and stumbling on something great!

Learn something: Learn from your mistakes and learn what your strengths and weaknesses are. Learn from those who have gone before your. Look for a "something" that is a strength.

And finally, once you stumble upon that "something" of success, then keep moving forward and …

Make it Better: Make-Up Queen Mary Kay Ash said, "A laurel rested upon becomes wilted". Be prepared to continue to stumble forward DESPITE successes along the way. Will Rogers said, "Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there." Continually strive to change, adapt and improve your product or service. As you keep moving, you will stumble from time to time, but you will either take those stumbles and make them successes, or you will just trip and fall (and get run over). The choice is yours, but the key is to keep stumbling forward.

Cold Sore Healing

Cold sore healing is just one phase of a cold sore episode. There are several stages of an outbreak. They are:

1.   The prickling stage

2.   The inflammation stage

3.   The blister stage

4.   The weeping stage

5.   The scabbing stage

6.   The shedding stage

7.   The fading stage

1. The Prickling Stage:

When one is prone to cold sores, the first indication of an oncoming sore is a tingling, burning or itching sensation. This is when the Herpes Simplex Virus 1 becomes active and can be described as a prickling sensation.

2. The Inflammation Stage:

The second stage of a cold sore is swelling and redness at the site of infection.

3. The Blister Stage:

Small painful blisters indicate the third stage of a cold sore. They usually form in a cluster in the swollen area.

4. The Weeping Stage:

When the blisters rupture; a yellowish fluid, teeming with the virus, oozes out of the wound. The weeping of the wound is the body’s way of ridding itself of the virus.

Other people and/or parts of your body can be infected easily by simply coming in contact with this fluid.

You can help the cold sore healing process by keeping the wound clean and dry. One way to do this is to soak cotton balls or tissues in alcohol and dab them on the sore.

It is very important to wash your hands every time you handle your cold sores to prevent the virus from spreading.

5. The Scabbing Stage:

The next stage is the scabbing or crusting phase. The healing process starts after the blisters have ruptured and the open sore begins to crust over, forming a scab.

The crusting or scab that occurs is the body’s way of keeping the wound from further infection. The scab may harden, start to crack and may cause painful bleeding that could prolong the time for the cold sore healing process.

You can keep the scab from cracking by applying Vaseline, Neosporin or other topical treatments. If the scab remains soft, the bleeding is minimized and the cold sore heals faster.

 6.   The Shedding Stage:

The scab will shed normally and be replaced by thinner scabbing as time goes by. As the cold sore healing continues from the inside out, the scab falls off revealing a reddish spot on the skin.

7. The Fading Stage:

The pain and itching of the initial outbreak will subside at this stage but it takes some time for the redness to fade away.

Although it may seem that the cold sore has healed, you are still quite contagious during the fading stage. If the redness of the skin is still visible, it is not safe to assume that you are cold sore free. Each person’s body determines how quickly the red spot fades. It may take anywhere from 2 to 14 days.

You still have to avoid touching the area affected to prevent possible infection of other persons and other parts of your body. The affected area will eventually take on the normal color of your skin.

It is at this time the cold sore healing process is complete. The virus returns to the nerve cells where it becomes inactive; until the conditions exist that allow it to reproduce again.

There are ways to inhibit this viral reproduction and thus prevent outbreaks. One can therefore avoid all of the stages of a cold sore episode.

With proper vitamins and supplements you should be able to stop cold sores before they start.

Compulsive Lying – A Disorder Rather Than A Habit

Human beings are used to several bad habits. Most of these habits start in an early age due in the childhood days. One such habit is the tendency to lie. Most of the cases are attached to child hood accidents. But there are different cases also. The habit may not sound so serious, but the after effects of this habit which can be better called as a disease is not small to neglect as such.

It is quite common that people lie at times to escape from some punishments. This is natural and will not have long lasting results as the effects are limited. But there are cases when people lie in a recursive fashion or they might lie always. This condition is often referred to as compulsive lying.

Compulsive lying starts when people lie for each and everything. They get a feeling that lie can always protect them. Then even in places where truth will help them, they will start crying. So they will not say truth in any case. Thus compulsive liars are born.

Compulsive lying is developed as a disease. The most interesting thing is that compulsive liar himself will not understand why he is telling lies at times. This will make people lose the trust in him. He will be looked upon with suspicious eyes.

The compulsive liar will find it difficult to get a return back to the case of telling lies. If in the initial stage, he was lying to escape from the punishment, after that he will do it thinking this is the right way. He fails to understand what is right and what is wrong.

Compulsive liars will be hated by all people. None will love to make companies with such people. They will be isolated from the main stream and they will not get true friends. Their friends will start living with them because they do not trust their words and actions.

Compulsive lying can be treated with counseling or similar treatments. But the result is that all this will have only short range influence on the liar. To get lasting results, the best method is hypnosis. The treatment is done with the help of hypnosis CD. People will have serious changes when they listen to this CD.

Hypnosis CD and mp3 will act on the minds of the compulsive liar. They will bring about changes in his mind. When he gives his complete concentration and starts to follow the instructions, the tendency slowly fades away. The mind will be relaxed. He can easily analyze what is right and what is wrong. He will understand the importance of truth in life.

All bad habits are the results of man's ignorance towards the realities of life. When he realizes the importance of life, he will take time to understand the need to get rid of those habits. Thus he will start telling the truth and do only good. With the help of hypnosis your lying ways will soon be history and you will have the courage to face the world with truthfulness and honesty every step of the way.

The Importance of a Healthy Diabetes Diet

When a person is first diagnosed with diabetes, diet becomes an important part of their lives. This is why many diabetics visit with a dietician when they get diagnosed with diabetes. Even though medications and insulin are available, diet is still an important thing to pay attention to as a diabetic.

For those with diabetes, diet needs to be carefully worked out and sometimes changed completely from the diet the individual had before they were diagnosed with the disease. The biggest thing to avoid is refined sugar, such as is seen in things like sweets, donuts, chocolate and cookies. Refined sugar triggers the release of insulin and results in the highest blood sugars when eaten and is not recommended for diabetics.

The diabetes diet should contain several small meals during the course of the day. This levels out the blood sugar levels and is the healthiest way for diabetics to keep stable blood sugar levels throughout the day. None of the meals should be very large or should have lots of refined sugar in them.

Protein should be a large part of the diabetes diet. Protein can be in the form of meat, beans or peanut butter. Protein doesn’t trigger blood sugar increases very much and should be part of several of the small meals a diabetic eats every day. If the diabetic chooses meats, low fat cuts of meat should be chosen.

Diabetes diets should also take into account issues around fats and triglycerides. Diabetics have higher than average triglyceride counts so a low fat diet would benefit the diabetic. Fats can be found in things like butter, in processed foods and in some baked goods. Eating a low fat diet may also affect the diabetic’s weight. Weight loss can really improve the health of any diabetic.

Complex carbohydrates are perfectly acceptable in the diabetes diet. Complex carbohydrates involve things like rice, flour, barley and other grains. These types of carbohydrates are processed more slowly than are refined sugars. They place less stress on the pancreas when it comes to releasing insulin.

Fruits and fresh vegetables should be on every good diabetes diet. These tend to be lower in calories, fat free and made from complex carbohydrates. Fruits contain the sugar, fructose, which is easier on the body and doesn’t trigger the release of insulin as much as does glucose and sucrose, or table sugar.

When a diabetic first begins a diabetes diet, they should write down everything they eat and should check their blood sugars before and after meals. This gives the new diabetic the chance to see how different aspects of their diet can affect the blood sugar levels. Writing everything down doesn’t have to be a regular thing but is good in the beginning or whenever the treatment changes.

Diet-controlled, oral medication and insulin-dependent diabetics should all follow the diabetes diet. While the diet isn’t intended to have anyone lose weight, any weight loss on the diabetic diet will improve the ultimate outcome of the diabetic. In some cases, losses of large amounts of weight results in needing lesser amounts of medication or possibly in needing no medication at all.

Good Skin Care in a Bad Economy

This economy has been quoted as being one of the hardest financial times in our history. Many have had to cut back on their favorite skin care products just to help them make ends meet. But do we have to sacrifice good skin care and the wonderful benefits that we get from our favorite products?

The answer to this question is no. I am not saying that you should continue to spend your hard-earned money on your high priced skin care products. However, you've grown accustomed to the positive results of your favorite skin care product.

You do not have to do without these wonderful results. In order to still save money and achieve the results that you want for your skin, you may want to make your own skin care products. Making your own skin care products can be surprisingly easy and extremely cost-effective.

The ingredients used in your favorite store-bought brands can not be found at online shops for a fraction of the cost. We are talking about active ingredients that can cost you anywhere from four dollars to up to $ 10 for an enough active ingredients to make up to a 16 ounces amount of product. How's that for savings?

In addition to saving a fortune on making them yourself, since you will be controlling the amount you include in your products, you will be making a more effective product than yours favorite store-bought brand product.

The average skincare company, in order to turn a profit and pass profits on to distributors, wholesalers, and retailers, they often times have to cut corners by including minute doses of the highly advertised active ingredient. Even though these companies only include small amounts of the ingredients, you're still able to see some measure of results. But just imagine if you were in control of adding active ingredients to your own product by just doubling the amount that the skin care companies include in their products, how effective would yours be?

Being in control of the amount of active ingredients in your own skin care products can make all the difference in the appearance of your skin. You may initially notice a huge change within a matter of a few days.

Making your own skin care products can be as easy as ordering your ingredients online, mixing them, and applying them to your skin. You can start to enjoy your own product in a matter of minutes after preparing them.

Should You Change Your Antidepressants to Avoid Side Effects?

If you are experiencing troubling side effects from your antidepressant, your first course of action could have been to try a different medication. Wellbutrin and Serzone, two of the newer antidepressants, have different side effects and a completely different mode of action from SSRIs, tricyclics, and MAO inhibitors. They are not associated with weight gain or sexual problems. Like all medications, though, they are not without their side effects. Thirty-two percent of patients experience agitation and 20 percent experience tremors while taking Wellbutrin. Serzone causes drowsiness in 25 percent of patients and can cause dry mouth, constipation, nausea, and dizziness, as well as have interactions with other drugs, such as Xanax.

Of course, you need to discuss with your doctor whether you could safely switch to a different medication. Two options you might explore are reducing your dosage or changing the timing of your dose. Studies have indicated, however, that dosage reduction may not be a safe alternative, since it appears that the dose that gets you well is the dose necessary to keep you well. I will only rarely consider dosage reduction as a reasonable alternative, thus lowering the risk of relapse. Changing the timing of your dose is a reasonable approach to reducing symptoms such as drowsiness or even sexual dysfunction, which can both be worse when the level of medication is at its peak in your bloodstream.

If you have gone through several antidepressants and found that one is better at relieving your depression, you should probably stay on that medication and work on alleviating its side effects. By the same token, you may need to be on a combination of antidepressants. (Many doctors, including myself, have found that combination of agents actually work better than a single one) If you have not yet tried switching medicines, however, your doctor may be able to prescribe a different antidepressant that is just as effective but with fewer side effects.

Manipulating antidepressants requires expertise, which is why I strongly recommend that you see a psychopharmacologist if you decide to go this route. Most primary-care physicians (and even many psychiatrists) are not well versed in these wrongful symptoms caused by each antidepressant, and they may not understand the interactions among combination's. Psychiatrists who are certified in psychopharmacology by the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology) have demonstrated expertise in prescribing antidepressants and other mood-altering medications. 'They also understand how these medications affect the body and are more familiar with their side effects. Keep in mind that the optimal goal is to find a medication that stabilizes your moods with a minimal number of side effects. You may not be able to find an antidepressant that is side-effect free, but you'll be able to find one that allows you to have a full life once you begin following orthomolecular psychiatry.
