Beads and Jewelry DIY Tips

Beads are small, decorative objects pierced for threading or stringing and made by crystal, wood, agate, glass, amber and other textures. Beads made in people’s own hands with unusual but wonderful thoughts have developed into one of the most popular hand-made jewelry products in recent years. Children, the young, the middle-aged and the elderly all have hands-on. The business of DIY beads has become another kind of eye-catching fashion and a shortcut to create a career and get rich.

Of course, when you DIY your jewelry, there are surely many things you need to pay attention to. The following are some useful jewelry DIY tips. With them, I believe, you’ll be more convenient and successfully when create your own jewelry.

Tip number one: magical colorless nail polish

After you finish your works, you need to make knots, and then fix them with superglue, but the glue is dry and white. However, you can use colorless nail polish instead, and not having this problem. It is also good anti-oxidant. Spread it on the copper wire and beads’ surfaces which are easily to be faded to prevent discoloration. Paint it on the surface of gold and rose gold jewelry to prevent color changing. Apply it to the surface of diamond beaded jewelry to prevent diamond drilling and make the dry jewelry shiny.

Note: In this process, remember controlling the amount and act quickly to avoid condensation of nail polish. Be careful of not to applying nail polish on the hands and clothes, in order to avoid getting difficult to clean them.

Tip number two: the handling of uneven beads

Small pieces of jewelry like bracelets can be hung to one end and hang a weight on the other, pouring hot water from the top to bottom. It’ll be done with hanging for some time and drying. If the DIY jewelry is in a larger size, giving it a longer drying time and making the water hotter.

Tip number three: how to save crystal

There are a lot of works which have two sides. If you don’t care so much about the inner side, why not use other similar sized beads instead? This saves crystal and also does not affect the appearance.

Tip number four: regular maintenance

After a long time, the fastening will be frayed by crystal’s sharp lines. Till then, not only the DIY jewelry is broken, but also the beads will be out, so re-do the fastening for some period of time when you see any fray happens.

Note: however, the gift sent to someone else hardly has a chance to be got back and maintained, so use strong fastening lines and make them back and forth for more times when you create it. Elastic line will lose its elasticity over time, so change lines by and by.

Well, DIY always is filled with interests and creativity. They are definitely good gifts for anyone, including yourself.

Attention Deficit Disorder – Drug Free Solution

Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) have become major problems in modern society, affecting one in 14 school-age children and about 4 percent of the adult population. ADD / ADHD affects an individual's ability to concentrate, focus, and follow through upsetting jobs, relationship, friendships, and families. Label and treatment of ADD / ADHD patients over time has moved from the psychological to the medical to the psychiatrist. The question is – what can I do to get rid of ADD / ADHD? One of the scariest aspects of ADD / ADHD are the substances being prescribed for treatment. These drugs often have terrible side effects that are specifically swap or pile one problem on top of another (potentially more debilitating or even psychotic causing). For example, in 2005 the FDA announced the liver dangers (liver failures) associated with ADHD medication Strattera. In addition, ADD drugs have also been cited for giving young users suicidal tendencies. Is this just the beginning? Doctors recommend "working through" side effects rather than stopping drug consumption. That typically means taking more drugs or something of the sort.

The amazing thing is how effective natural, non drug whole food nutrition can be in addressing many of the problems that are attributed to ADD and ADHD. This is because every symptom and every disease has an underlying nutritional deficiency that needs to be considered.

What's Behind ADD and ADHD What is causing attention deficit problems? The growth of cases should easily point to environmental or normative exposures. In fact ADD / ADHD should be referred to as disorders and not diseases because it has become clear that ADD / ADHD are tied to nutritional deficiencies that once corrected may result in "miraculous" "cures."

Dr Lendon Smith (MD), author of 15 books and advocate of dietary changes to avoid illnesses, based upon his decades of experience, believes that most children with ADD / ADHD have had some sort of injury to their nervous systems at birth. Events such as premature birth, second of twins, a collapsed lung or having umbilical cord around ones neck during birth, have been indicated to as potential ADD / ADHD causes.

It is now established that there is insufficient norepinephrine in the limbic (part of brain that filters out unimportant stimuli) systems of those with ADD / ADHD. Another important fact of note is that a large amount of those suffering are males. Dr. Smith also found that below a high degree of physical sensitivity, those suffering are low in calcium and especially magnesium (explaining chocolate cravings due to the high degree of magnesium in chocolate). Dr Smith treated patients with magnesium and calcium and within 3 weeks the ability to remove Ritalin or Dextroamphetamine, as well as other medications, was possible. Dr Smith went on to add other nutrition, including vitamin B6 and essential fatty acids. This makes sense, according to Dr. Vic Shayne, food science researcher, because "the vitamin B complex and essential fatty acids are both involved in facilitating nerve impulses to and from the brain." Vitamin B complex in natural foods addresses emotional and mental functions; without these nutrients there are mood swings, anxiety, inability to concentrate, depression and other symptoms known to ADD sufferers. "

How Do I Treat ADD? Interestingly about 10 percent of ADHD children do not respond to medication – which may be a mixed blessing. So what can be done about ADD / ADHD? The answer to this question is actually very simple. Follow these actions and you will increase your healthfulness without a doubt:

  • Eliminate refined grains (such as white flour and refined flour products) from your diet
  • Eliminate sugar (sugar goes by many names, so do not be fooled with glucose, corn syrup, sorbitol, mannitol, grape juice concentrate, brown sugar, etc.)
  • Replace all sodas, fruit drinks, milk, etc with water or herbal tea
  • Consume fish, flax seed oil or cod liver oil (Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids)
  • Studies have shown that fresh air and the green nature help ADD / ADHD
  • Start taking organic and / or wild crafted whole food nutritional supplementation

The Relationship of Diabetes to Other Diseases and Conditions

The Relationship of Diabetes to Other Diseases and Conditions

The US diabetes epidemic is more dangerous than most people realize. The Center for Disease Control recently indicated that more than 63% of Americans are at risk for diabetes due to a Body Mass Index (BMI) qualifying them as overweight. Diabetes not only causes other conditions and symptoms, but also is linked with kidney and cardiovascular diseases. To prevent complications, it's important to understand the relationship between diabetes and other diseases.

Diabetic Retinopathy

Retinopathy is a common complication of diabetes that causes decreed and blurry vision, and often blindness. The effect of diabetic retinopathy on vision depends on the stage of the disease. Diabetes' effect on the retina is a severe threat, mostly seen in elderly sufferers. People with diabetes also tend to experience long-term effects on the circulatory system. As diabetes progresses, the treaties in the retina weakened and form hemorrhages. In later stages of the disease, circulation problems cause areas of the eye to become oxygen-deprived. Consequently, new vessels develop that hemorrhage easily, and blood may leak into the retina as well.

Obesity

Obesity and diabetes are scientifically proven to be directly linked. In fact, obesity is a direct cause of Type II Diabetes. Obesity is dangerous because an excessive proportion of body fat causes elevated blood glucose levels. The human body manufactures insulin after every meal to alert cells that higher levels of glucose are on the way. Type II Diabetes sufferers lack the ability to use this insulin hormone. And when insulin is not used properly, the body can not digest food correctly, it increases the risk of additional weight gain, as well as diabetes.

Kidney Disease / Kidney Failure

Diabetes affects many parts of the body. According to the National Kidney Foundation, diabetic kidney disease results from injured small blood vessels in the body. When blood vessels in the kidneys are injured, the kidneys can not clean the blood properly. At this point, the human body retains more water and salt than it should (which results in weight gain and ankle swelling). In addition, protein appears in the urine and waste materials accumulate in the blood. In addition, Type II Diabetes can cause nerve damage which can result in urination problems. The pressure resulting from a full bladder can back up and injure the kidneys. When urine remains in the bladder for too long, the high levels of sugar can cause the rapid growth of bacteria, resulting in an infection.

Heart Disease & Stroke

The American Diabetes Association says two-thirds of people with Type II Diabetes die from heart disease and stroke. As such, diabetes and heart disease work in tandem – and people with diabetes are at a higher risk of developing heart disease. A person with diabetes has higher than normal blood sugar levels. These high blood sugar levels can damage many parts of the body, including blood vessels. Heart disease is a direct result of narrowed or blocked blood vessels that lead to the heart. Here, increased blood sugar levels, common with Type II Diabetes sufferers, causes increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

Breast Cancer

Scientists have investigated the possible relationship between breast cancer and diabetes and suggested that high levels of insulin increases the risk of breast cancer. Since many factors, such as obesity, increase the risk of both breast cancer and diabetes, it's been difficult for scientists to determine if diabetes itself is the issue. However, research indicates that women with diabetes have a 20% higher risk of breast cancer than women without diabetes. One recent study suggests that high blood sugar increases the risk of breast cancer, even among pre-menopausal women. In addition, significant weight gain (more than 55 lbs. Since age 18, or 22 lbs. After menopause) acts as a catalyst in causing diabetes – and can also increase the risk of breast cancer.

Foot Problems

Of the 16 million Americans with diabetes, more than 25% will develop foot problems due to the disease, according to Foot.com. Diabetic foot problems develop from a combination of factors, including poor circulation and neuropathy. Diabetic neuropathy causes an insensitivity to feel pain, heat and cold. As a result, people with diabetes may be unaware they have developed minor cuts, scrapes, blisters or pressure sores. If these minor injuries are left untreated, complications may result, lead to ulceration and possibly even amputation. Foot.com also states that diabetic neuropathy can cause deformities, such as bunions, hammer toes and Charcot feet.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS)

CTS is another common complication of diabetic neuropathy. Because of the decreased or distorted nerve function, a patient's ability to feel nerve sensation is lessened. Symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome include numbness, tingling, weakness and burning sensations, usually beginning in the fingers and toes and progressing to the arms and legs. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, a 2005 study reported that about 85% of patients with Type I Diabetes develop CTS. Development of CTS was related to the patient's age, as well as the length of time they had diabetes.

All of the conditions listed above are related to diabetes, and are becoming growing concerns for Americans. Awareness of these associated diseases will hopefully lead to better prevention, such as healthy diet and exercise.

Obesity, Stress, and Adrenaline Addiction

All the medical authorities agree: Obesity is the rising health hazard of the new millennium in the US, with increasing risks of diabetes and heart disease, not to mention the impact of weight on the joints of hips, knees, ankles, and feet. Diet and inadequate exercise are the first culprits identified, and there is plenty of evidence to back that up. Solutions are focused on plans to encourage change in our diets and healthy exercise habits in our children. If a child is already obese by the time he or she is twelve, it is very difficult to establish healthy exercise habits after that. The weight itself makes it more difficult and unpleasant, and the motivation for doing something difficult and unpleasant to achieve an invisible goal in the distant future is compromised in too many ways.

But there is another poisonous ingredient in the stew of causal factors contributing to obesity, and that is stress. Mark Hyman, MD is one of the leading voices pointing out the relationship between stress and obesity. To put it simply, stress is our body's response to an emergency – any kind of an emergency. Part of the body's assumption about emergencies is that we may not be able stop to eat while our response to this stressful event is going on. The stressed body therefore generates chemical instructions to eat as much as we can in a hurry and hold on to those calories as long as we can, leading to cravings and the development of a metabolism that holds onto weight we do not need.
There are emerging in our lives to be sure. But the kind of emergencies that prevent us from eating are fewer and fewer in the 21st century. Yet the body responds with the same chemical instructions to hold onto those calories even though the stress we experience is from sources other than survival emergencies.

Where does all this stress come from? The list is quite long. It comes from family and peer group conflict, from high personal expectations and competition, from deadlines and disappointments, from all manner of fears, from the press and noise of modern life.

It also comes from something less obvious but quite seductive. It also comes from excitement. Excitement is only subtly different from fear – the difference being the expectation of a positive, rather than negative, output. Some people jump out of airplanes for excitement, but only because they expect to land safely after the rush of the terrifying free fall. Many more of us go to exciting movies and perch on the edge of our seats with our popcorn and drink within easy reach while the hero and stuntmen barely survive one catastrophe after another with thrilling music stimulating our heartbeats further. We enjoy this safe excitation, and we miss it when it's over. We get bored without it, and we need more and more exclusion to keep the boredom at bay.

This, I believe, is an insidious trend, a kind of addiction to excuse that I call adrenaline addiction. Adrenaline is one of the hormones released to prepare the body to respond to emergency. It focuses the mind and energizes the body, and it feels like a rush that can be pleasant if the expected output is positive. So it is not too surprising that the most exciting movies and books are the best sellers; not too surprising that we like to watch action sports and live debts; not too surprising that we are drawn to gameboys and devices that provide an intermittent reinforcement of our intense agreement with them. Intermittent reinforcement leads to the most persistent habits, so when you do not win all the time, but you do win occasionally, you are more likely to keep playing.

All of these activities, associated with a safe form of danger that energizes and focuses the mind with a sense of urgency, generate excitation. Excitement is another form of stress, and the body does not know that this constant diet of stress is not an emergency for which it needs to store calories. Like global warming, however, it is slowly becoming a health emergency. Addiction to excitement – adrenaline addiction – may be a contributing factor in the increasing diagnosis of attention deficit disorder, depression (from boredom or burnout), and substance abuse. It may even have a connection with the lust for power and weaponry that drives national rivalries and sparks wars.

Also, like global warming, it is difficult to figure out where to start to do something about this ubiquitous problem. How do we begin to include stress management along with diet and exercise in the national agenda for weight management? How can we motivate youngsters to put down their gameboys and value calmer forms of mental exercise? How can we teach self calming skills to children? Although there are contemplative practices in most spiritual disciples that have been teaching and practicing this for thousands of years, it is a huge challenge to bring these activities and values into modern life.
The momentum of excitement is intense. Excitement sells. The economy depends on it. All of contemporary life supplies it. And it feels soooo good. The challenge of putting on the brakes is truly humongous, but if we do not recognize it and face it our grandchildren will live shorter and more unhappy lives.

The Unsightly Varicose Veins – Its Treatment

Varicose veins is about as recognizable as you see it, with the bulging stream of nerves visible on the skin especially the legs. A visit to the dermatologist or a vascular surgeon will confirm the suspicions. The following symptoms and signs that you need to consider are:

– If you can see blue and swollen veins under the skin which is visibly obvious.

– Legs aching.

– Muscle cramping.

– Itching around bulging veins.

– Skin ulcers (occasionally).

– More pain felt on sitting or standing for long period.

A good explanation why the above is happening has been clearly demonstrated by an English anatomist that the veins have valves. Veins have to work against gravity when blood returns to the heart. In order to that, valves shut as the blood flow heartwards. In varicose veins, the valves malfunctioned. Instead of steadily bringing back to the heart, incompetent valves let some blood pool in the superfinal veins. These appear as the familiar and unsightly "worms" under the skin, usually the legs.

The risk factor group are those groups who are genetically predisposed to varicose vein as a family tradition, this can show up as early as thirty years of age. Obese people usually has it because of the extreme pressure exerted on their legs. Females in particular because of some female hormones relax veins and pregnant women add pressure to their legs. Occupational demand that requires more of standing like flight attendants, nurses, escort is as well at risk.

There are various ways to treat varicose veins. a) Some women make it a point to lie down and park their legs against the wall. b) Some women wear compression stockings to squeeze the legs. c) When the aforementioned does not work consider sclerotherapy. This involve the injection of a chemical (sclerosant) that scars the veins and effectively sealing them. d) Laser surgery – concentrated bursts of lights are fried to close off a vein. e) Vein stripping and ligation – in which the surgeon will expose the vein and either remove it or tie it off.

Varicose veins are easy to diagnose, difficult to treat but possible to prevent. Brisk walking improves legs circulation and will force muscles to pump away the relative stasis in the veins. If you are obese, lose weight and women if possible avoid high heels; these put a lot of strain on the legs.

The Truth About Treatment For Cold Sores

For your convenience, I have published this article in order to let you know more about the treatment for cold sores. Hope you will be enjoying reading this article.

Cold sores are an unpleasant condition caused by the herpes simplex virus, commonly called the HPV virus. It is estimated that 80-90 percent of the population of the United States is infected with the virus. Most of us pick up the virus in childhood, often becoming infected by being kissed by infectious adults.

While cold sore outbreaks are not serious, they do make the lives of sufferers miserable due to pain and discomfort, but probably the most unpleasurable feature of this condition is the unpleasantly sore that appears around the mouth.

If you've tested a number of over-the-counter medications aimed at getting rid of cold sores and been frustrated like many cold sore sufferers, you may be at a loss as to where to turn to next. Cold sores are extremely hard to eliminate externally. Most people simply have to wait till the sore disappears of its own accord (when the body has eliminated the virus). At best, people use certain treatment for cold sores to cut down the pain and keep the sore manageable.

Prevention is always better than cure, and so your initial focus on treatment for cold sores is to look after your immune system so that the virus is not able to reactivate and cause the blister that goes on to become the sore. It is only when the immune system becomes weak that the virus is able to replicate and move towards the surface of the skin where it does its damage. Your immune system can be boosted by supplements; but before that you should increase your diet to include fresh fruit and vegetable, take regular exercise to get enough of rest to reduce your stress.

There are a variety of topical salves you can apply to the sore once it appears, including aloe vera gel, lysine and tea tree, which can speed up the overall healing time by several days. One treatment that many people claim to be able to stop the cold sore in its tracks if you use it at the tingling stage is simple ice; hold a cube of ice on the infected area for 15-30 minutes, which may prevent the virus from replicating to its full potential and therefore reduce the impact of the sore. Many people have found that simply applying ice to the affected area can prove to be beneficial.

Applying tea bags to the lesions is also often good as tea contains tannic acid, which has been shown to minimize growth of the sores, while applying a coating of moisturizing agents like petroleum jelly to help prevent bleeding and cracking.

Bald is Beautiful

Most guys go through at least one phase growing up where they shave their heads. Maybe it was a dare, a team ritual or punishment for losing a bet. But as you got older, the fear of losing your hair may have turned into a full-blown reality. Some guys embrace their baldness and readily whip out the razor blade, while others try to deny the existence of the rapidly thinning area in the back of their head or the telltale receding hairline. But something interesting has happened … bald became sexy.

Even guys with full heads of hair are turning to the shaved head look. If you're thinning, you really do not have a whole lot of options (you're not fooling anyone) but take heart, look at how many girls would kill to take Chris Daughtry's wife's place by his side (yeah, we all know that will not last but anyway …) and then there's Bruce Willis. Do not get me started. But fully folllicled guys, just make sure this is what you want to do before you get shave happy.

The pros:

  • You look like a bad a **
  • No hair to shampoo
  • No crazy looking morning after hair
  • Girls will want to touch your re-growth
  • You'll get notified where you go

The cons:

  • You might have a funny shaped head
  • You still have to condition your scalp and take care of your skin
  • You have to shave it frequently otherwise you look like a baby bird
  • Your head will sunburn more easily / you'll have to wear a hoodie or beanie hat on cold days
  • Girls you do not want attention from may want to touch your re-growth

Before you start shaking, you'll need the right tools and products. Fortunately there are several companies who have taken on the baldness cause, creating cool products that make getting a smooth, even shave a breeze and help you keep it that way.

Blades

Get a close, easy shave with the HeadBlade Classic. Here's how it works: slip your middle finger through the loop (up to around the second knuckle) making sure the HeadBlade is nested palm-side. Rest the HeadBlade on your scalp (make sure the back 'pad' is always in contact with your scalp). Now take a long smooth stroke using no pressure. Uses Gillette Atra Plus, Schick Ultrex, and HB TripleBlade blades.

Matte or Glossy? It's up to you

Do not want a shiny head? Get HeadBlade Lotion Matte … or if you want your head so shiny others can see their reflections on it this product also comes in Glossy. After hours of testing sheen, shine, and reflection using photographic equipment the folks at HeadBlade created a great product that moisturizes your scalp without leaving behind a heavy shine. HeadLube Matte almost magically disappears leaving your head clean and feeling fresh without the use of dyes and perfumes.

Protect and shave

What you use to shave your head is just as important as the tool you use. Body Tools shave cream with tea tree oil and oleo, linolin, apricot kernel oil and vitamins A & C is a cooling, refreshing cleanser while giving you a smooth shave.

For sensitive skin and especially for hair re-growth, Jack Black Beard Lube (yes, you can use it on your head), works as a pre-shave to soften and prepare the stubble, then as a shave cream with Macadamia Nut Oil, Jojoba Oil and Glycerin for a close shave and as an after shave with Peppermint, Eucalyptus and Menthol to refresh the skin. Pick it up at Neiman Marcus, Nordstorm, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sephora.

Shaving your head

So it's time to get real. When you're ready to do the deed, follow these steps from Dr. Steve May, the founder of Body Tools, and you're on your way to becoming one cool bald dude.

1: Before shaving your head for the first time, be sure to trim your hair with scissors before shaving – do not just take a razor to longer strands. This ensures a closer and most importantly, an easier head shave.

2: Be sure to shave your head after a warm shower. The heat and water make hair softer and easier to cut, which reduces the likelihood of razor bumps and unsightly ingrown hairs. Apply a generous dollop of a moisturizing shave cream or gel like Body Tools Shave Cream with tea tree oil and aloe and massage it into your scalp for a few minutes, allowing the product to soften hair even more.

3: Use a new blade each time you shave your head. Shave against the grain and use slow, even strokes without applying pressure to the scalp. Rinse the blade frequently to ensure that the blades are not clogged with lather and hair.

4: After shaving, rinse well to remove all product and check your head out carefully in the mirror for any spots that you might have missed. Finally, apply a soothing aftershave and / or moisturizer like Body Tools SPF 15 after Shave Repair & Protect to your scalp to keep ingrowns at bay. Regardless of the product you choose, be sure that it contains sunscreen – a peeling head is never attractive!

After your head is all smooth, you'll need to maintain it. Bald Guyz® Head Wipes clean the natural oils that are secreted from the pores of the head. Green tea extract, vitamin E and natural emollients leave the head feeling smooth and soft.

Without hair, your scalp takes a beating. Bald Guyz Moisture Gel provides extreme moisturizing and soothing properties for sensitive skin, is excellent for after shaving, or to replace the moisture lost from the powerful rays of the sun which can cause the skin to become dry and irritated. Bald Guyz Moisture Gel combines green tea extract; Aloe Vera, vitamin E and vitamin A that help soothe, moisturize and protect sensitive skin. When used after shaving, our Moisture Gel reduces irritation and helps eliminate razor bumps.

The Best Way to Cure PCOS – Naturally!

Ouch! … My stomach hurts SO much! Oh boy do I remember that pain that had me laying in bed for hours in the middle of the day. I used to get so tired by mid day I would need to lay down and I would be in such pain that I was being laying in my bed while applying counter pressure on my lower abdomen. This was a regular "activity" until I found out how to cure pcos naturally.

In order to know how to cure pcos naturally one must understand that pcos is a metabolic and hormonal disorder.

What does this mean?

If you are suffering from pcos then it is not just that you have many cysts on your ovaries. Rather because of other dysfunctions in your body, your body is weaker and more prone to develop cysts.

Because the main problem is not the cysts therefore one must look at the root problem and treat the root problem, by raising the root problem one will potentially be able to cure pcos naturally.

This means you'll need to make dietary changes. For instance to cut out sugar and refined carbohydrates – like white flour and all the processed foods that are so prevalent in our American diets. You'll have to say good bye to all junk food and empty calories we fill ourselves up on. This change in eating whole foods and not some of my favorite snacks was really hard. Until I cheated and it really hurt my stomach again. After that I did not for quite some time. But now I can cheat a little and it's ok. No more stomach pains!

Additionally it'll be how you cook. Aluminum pans release terrible toxins into the food and they then get absorbed into our body ..
