Who told you that a great vacation is hundreds of miles away? Who told you that a good time gotta cost a lot of money? The magic word? STAYCATION!

But, what is a staycation, anyway?

Umm… I’m so glad you asked, Mr. Bear! Because, boy have I got some honey for you!

A staycation is simply a home vacation! That’s right! Instead of taking the girl to the country, we’re gonna bring the country to the girl! Right in the living room too!

Don’t you know that the possibilities are truly endless!

You can go camping, right in the living room! We can sleep in the woods, right from the back bedroom! We can even make the entire sun disappear by covering every single window and door crack up with dark bags and tape! We can sit around a makeshift fire in our little campsite (using a ceramic heater) and enjoy marshmallow smores!

Or, we can turn the house into a luxury vacation home! We can hang fancy drapes up around the house, and breakout our finest dish wear! Let’s get fancy! Cover the table with a nice-looking tablecloth and get some accent candles to match it!

We can literally go anywhere in the world simply by dressing the house up accordingly! We only need a little bit of creativity.

The key to a great staycation is being in the spirit and having the right type of focus in place. We gotta make up our minds that we are going to play by the rules, and we are going to commit to having a good old time!

Get the furniture out of the way. If we’re going for an outdoor thing, then we want to get rid of as much furniture as possible. But, where would we put everything?

Well, if you have an extra room, we can move everything to that one single room and then close it off. We should disassemble things like the end tables and the furniture that comes apart easily. We don’t need to disassemble the entertainment center, but we can just drape a thick cloth over it instead.

We want to have as much open space as we can.

It’s best to create a schedule to follow, because without this, then we will be tempted to get back into our regular home routine. We should consider closing off the kitchen too. We want the house to feel different and out of the normal setting.

If we are going for an upscale staycation, then we would instead work to fancy the house up a bit.

We should consider moving a few pieces around too. Because, this would add to the change of feeling in the house.

Be sure to turn off and unplug all TV’s if we’re going the outdoor thing. But, if we’re doing upscale, then why not bring the bigger speakers out?

If we are doing a staycation with the kids, we only gotta be a bit creative.

Kids will generally follow your lead, so as long as you remain in the mood, they will play along.

Unplug your phone and turn off your cell phone for privacy and peace.

If you have the bigger room, then consider switching things up with the kids! That’s right! Give them the bigger room, and let them have your bed too! You can just turn the mattress over for them.

The idea is to truly change things up a bit so the house again, feels different.

Make sure you get some scented oils for the tub. Aroma therapy will greatly enhance the atmosphere of the home and the fresh earthly or fruity scents will linger on and on.

Consider changing up the meal agenda. Try preparing something that you don’t do too often.

If you’re going outdoor, then go for non-meat. Or, fish if that. If you’re doing upscale, then go for the high-quality plates and silver wear. The heavier feel will make the meal taste even better!

Ignore the doors and the neighbors. But, before you go on your staycation, just tell your neighbors and everyone else that you’re going on a staycation! So, while you might seem like you’re home, you’re not! Explain this to them, and then stick to your guns!

Try going out at times that you don’t generally leave the house. You want to make sure that things are not business as usual.

Get some board games for the kids, and a few good books to read. This is the perfect time to sit down as a family unit and do some reading or getting reacquainted with each other.

Also, if the house needs anything new and major, this might be the perfect time to take full advantage! For example, if you wanted to paint the living room.

History Of The Guava

The early Spanish explorers of the 1500’s found Strawberry Guava, ‘Acca sellowiana O.,’ growing as a native tree in America, where they were firmly established from Mexico southward to Peru. History records that Seminole Indians were growing guava trees in Northern Florida in 1816.

The guava tree can be trained to single or multiple trunks by pruning and will grow into an excellent specimen plant that is covered with exotic flowers during late spring. The wood is gray in color, and the grain is very hard and dense. The leaves are small, distinctly colored flat green, making the plants easily recognized at a distance.

The guava tree or shrub is slow growing and requires the planting of two plants for cross-pollination. The tree is cold hardy to 15 degrees Fahrenheit and is salt water tolerant. Bees and hummingbirds visit the red and yellow flowers, and the pollination visits result in a heavy fruit set.

I personally was close to death about 15 years ago, but experiencing a panic attack was somehow worse. I just did not know what was happening to me, and since I had that first one, I always expect another one to happen. It is scary! I am not a person to depend on medication, so I did some research and here are some home remedies, or few steps you can take to deal with panic attacks.

The very first thing you need to do is to avoid coffee and sugar loaded food. Coffee and nicotine will trigger your panic attacks. Even alcohol can do so. If you can, eliminate these complete and replace them with natural teas. The one I use is brand name Java and on the box it says anxiety. It costs around 3-4 dollars and you can get it at local health stores. Even some major grocery stores (health aisle) may carry them.

Another way to deal with panic attacks is to discussing issues with your loved one's. I talk to my wife and friends. At first I felt very uncomfortable doing this, but let me tell you, I saved a lot of money on therapy this way. When you talk about things, you really get a lot of things out and the weight of the problem or issue somehow eases! During my research to find ways to deal with panic attacks, I discovered that a lot of people had a problem because of some unpleasant event that happened. Since than, I strongly believe that the actual cause of panic attacks is distress and not stress, but of course there will be people who will argue with me and it is my opinion only.

Another good way to get rid of anxieties is to exercise if you can. Personally for me exercising is difficult since I have disability, running and walking is really out of the question, but I can lift weights and I do so as often as I can. During a lot of my weight lifting sessions, I will think of possible solutions for the problems I am dealing with!

There are a lot of relaxation techniques you can learn as well. Breathing exercises do work. When you exercise physically, you breath faster and that helps you calm down as well, but if you can not exercise and need to calm down, just breath in and out. Here is one simple exercise I use! If you can lay down, but if not sitting will be ok as well. I inhale very slowly and say, "I am", than I exhale and say "relaxed". If you can do this at least 10 times and the result will surprise you.

Where the biggest problem happens is in your mind! Starting with your first panic attack, which was the scariest experience of my life, and from on, you always fear that the next attack is going to happen any minute. That is where the real problem is! The ways to deal with anxiety listed above, are going to help you because there will be less panic attacks, but you really need to learn how to deal with anxiety and panic attacks the moment they are happening.
