What Men Need to Know About Prostate Cancer and Future Fertility

Prostate cancer affects one in each 6 men living in the US. Treatment of prostate cancer can markedly reduce fertility potential. Approximately 217,000 men are expected to be diagnosed with prostate cancer in the US in 2010. Prostate cancer is diagnosed in 1 in 10,000 men before the age of 39 and 1 in 40 between the ages of 40 and 59. Screening for prostate cancer using a blood tests-prostate specific antigen (PSA) caused in increased diagnosis in younger men . Many men diagnosed with prostate cancer are interested in future fertility. Exception in cases of distant spread, survival after prostate cancer approaches 100%. Prostate cancer is more common in men carrying BRCA2 mutations and occurs in younger age.

Cancer in men, before treatment, may affect sperm count and quality , although this is controversial. In general 10% of men diagnosed with cancer are expected to have no ejaculated sperm-azospermia. Up to 50% may have abnormal sperm quality.

Prostate cancer treatment and future fertility . Treatment options for prostate cancer include
1. Radical prostatectomy. This procedure can be performed through a large incision or via minimally access surgery-laparoscopy. Surgery can be modified to preserve the nerve fibers responsible for erection thus reducing erectile dysfunction after surgery. Surgery causes block block of the vas deperens on both sides leading to obstruction and azospermia.
2. Radiation. External beam radiation affect sperm production from the testes as scattered radiation can damage the sperm producing cells. Placing a radioactive seed inside the prostate-brachytherapy, has minimal effect on sperm production.
3. Observation on; y is possible for selected men diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Fertility preservation options in young men
1. Sperm Cyopreservation. Less than 50% of men diagnosed with cancer preserve their sperm before treatment due to lack of information or counseling. This is a very available and low cost option. One or more samples can be frozen depending on time and initial sperm counts and quality. Sperm can be frozen indefinitely. If multiple samples were frozen, they can be used for intrauterine insemination. If limited amount of sperm is available or low quality -movement or sperm shape, IVF with injection of sperm into the egg-ICSI is required. Sperm freezing has a good psychological impact on men during cancer treatment.
2. Electro-ejaculation. For men who have erectile dysfunction or inability to ejaculate after surgery, electrical stimulation can induction ejaculation. Sperm quality in this case is likely abnormal favorable the use of sperm for IVF-ICSI.
3. Testicular Sperm Extraction-TESE. Form men with no ejaculated sperm-azospermia, sperm can be surgically obtained from the testes. This is also an option for men who can not produce sperm and no sperm could be aspirated without surgery. This procedure can be performed during the surgical treatment for cancer. Sperm are obtained in 50-60% of men with azospermia. Sperm obtained are used for IVF with ICSI. Sperm can also be obtained from the duct that convey sperm outside the testes-Microsurgical epididymal sperm aspiration-MESA. The success rate of achieving pregnancy using frozen ejaculated sperm or surgically obtained viable sperm is not different from fresh sperm.

Checklist for fertility preservation in prostate cancer

  1. Discuss with your oncologist different cancer treatment options-radical prostatectomy, external beam radiation and brachytherapy or even observation only.
  2. If radical prostatectomy is planned inquire about the technique of surgery-open or laparoscopy, nerve sparing procedures and incidence of erectile dysfunction in the surgeon's hands
  3. Ask for more information about the effects of prostate cancer treatment and fertility preservation options from the oncologist or reproductive endocrinologist.
  4. If interested in fertility preservation a reproductive endocrinologist or urologist can refer you for semen analysis and freezing (in the same time), interpret the semen analysis and advice about the number of samples to be frozen.
  5. If no sperm found-azospermia, surgical sperm retrieval can be performed at the time of surgery for cancer or after cure.

Circumcised Men Experiencing Loss of Penis Sensitivity

Over the last few decades, circumcision has fallen somewhat out of favor with medical professionals, particularly in the United States. While removal of the foreskin is a common procedure that is performed both for religious and hygienic or cosmetic reasons, the medical community has argued that circumcision has no real medical benefits. In addition, circumcision can lead to numerous side effects, particularly loss of penile sensitivity.

However, according to a report by Maggie Fox of NBC News, AIDS advocates and health organizations worldwide have been once again advocating circumcision. Recent studies have shown that circumcision can decrease the risk of developing AIDS in heterosexual men by a significant 60%. As a result, increasing numbers of adult males are considering circumcision, but the risk of loss of penis sensation is a major concern. Fortunately, there are options for men who are thinking about circumcision. Treating the glans with penis-specific vitamins and minerals that support skin and nerve health can be highly effective in preventing penis sensitivity loss in circumcised men.

Why does circumcision lead to diminished penis sensation?

When the glans of the penis is exposed, it is subject to constant chafing, as it rubs against clothing and other materials. Over time, the layers of dermal tissue covering the head of the penis toughen in reaction to this friction, leading to decreased penile sensitivity. For this reason, men who are circumcised are often less sensitive in this area than men who have an intact foreskin. As a result, they are often less responsive to sexual stimulation. This issue is a leading factor in many men’s decisions against circumcision, and in many cases, men who were circumcised at birth opt to have their foreskin restored.

How do vitamins and other nutrients help to prevent loss of penis sensitivity?

Although replacing the foreskin may help to restore penis sensation, this procedure does not always produce the desired results. On the other hand, treatment of the penis skin with the following nutrients may actually help to prevent loss of sensation from occurring, even after circumcision:

• Vitamin A – Promotes healing, protects against the formation of scar tissue, and lends skin a soft, supple and smooth texture.

• Vitamin B5 – Promotes healing and overall health of the skin cells.

• Vitamin C – Protects the skin against environmental damage through its antioxidant properties, as well as promoting optimum circulation and maintaining the tissue that gives skin its natural elasticity.

• Acetyl-L-carnitine – Helps to maintain nervous tissue and repair damaged nerve cells.

• Alpha lipoic acid – Helps to promote the healthy blood flow needed to oxygenate the skin and nerve cells and maintain penis feeling.

• Shea butter – A highly effective moisturizer that softens the skin, boosts its natural lubricating properties and protects against chafing and other skin damage that can lead to loss of penis sensation.

• Vitamin E – Provides a natural moisture barrier that prevents dehydration of the skin – a major factor in the thickening of dermal tissue that leads to reduced penis sensation.

Can skin nutrients restore penis sensation?

For men who have already experienced lost penis sensation, whether due to circumcision in infancy or other causes, these nutrients may also be effective for rejuvenating the skin of the penis and promoting increased penis sensation.

Effective vitamin formulas for promoting penis sensitivity

Not all vitamin skin care products are alike; most of the skin crèmes and lotions sold in retail stores are designed for women and do not take men’s penis health into account. For the most effective way to support penis sensitivity, a specially designed penis health formula (most health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) containing vitamins, minerals and all-natural moisturizers is suggested to ensure that these nutrients are absorbed directly into the penis skin.

Diseases and Disorders That Can Cause Hearing Loss

Although there are several causes of hearing loss that are completely preventable or at least treatable, there are a number of diseases that can cause deafness as well. If you or someone you know is suffering from hearing loss for no apparent reason, it is a good idea to check the following disorders to see if your symptoms correlate with those caused by the disease.

Treacher Collins Syndrome (TCS). Also known as Mandibulofacial Dysostosis, among other things, TCS is a rare genetic disorder that causes obvious facial distortions and abnormalities. These can include deformed or even completely missing ears, a small lower jaw, and other eye and mouth misshapenness. This is due to hypoplasia, which is the underdevelopment of the craniofacial bones. Because of the ear formation anomalies that can happen with TCS, people with the disorder may also suffer from hearing loss. For people missing ears, bone conduction hearing aids can help.

Ménière’s Disease. Typically a disease that affects men and women between the ages of 40 and 60, Ménière’s Disease causes vertigo and tinnitus. This tinnitus may turn into a permanent loss of hearing. The cause of the disorder itself is unknown, but suspected to be an imbalance of fluids within the inner ear. Because your sense of balance and the fluids of the ears are so tightly entwined, it is not always possible to treat the dizziness and hearing loss at the same time. Sometimes, actually, curing the vertigo can cause permanent deafness.

Mondini Syndrome. This disorder, also called Mondini Dysplasia, is like TCS in that the hearing loss is caused by a malformation. With Mondini, the cochlea of the ear may not be fully formed in its spiral shape, resulting in a flattened appearance. Mondini Dysplasia does not always cause complete deafness, and it is sometimes never detected because the person can hear normally. Sometimes, a person with Mondini might need cochlear implants in order to enhance hearing abilities.

Waardenburg Syndrome. Usually shortened to WS, Waardenburg Syndrome is a genetic disorder that results in facial abnormalities, much like TCS. A person with WS may have pigmentation problems with the hair, facial skin, and irises of the eyes, and also suffer from deafness. The hearing impairment results from the malformation of the inner ear. Hearing aids or other auditory aid devices could help a person with WS recover some hearing.

Even for people suffering from hearing loss from a genetic disorder or Ménière’s disease, hearing aids and other hearing-enhancement devices can help restore some sense of sound. For more information on hearing loss and hearing aids, check out Hearing Planet today.

Properties of Acrylic Sheets (The Value of Plastic Products)

Have you ever looked at something made of plastic and wondered how it was made? It’s obviously not a metal, wood or plant based derivative. To the educated person, it could be assumed that it’s made by a chemical process, but not much more about it is as easily surmised. Clearly, acrylic thermoplastics have some very interesting characteristics and properties. Of course, they are well known for their crystal clarity and outstanding weather ability. But did you also know they are available in cast sheet, rod, and tube, extruded sheet and film, and compounds for injection molding and extrusion? Acrylic can be used to manufacture brochure holders, racks, counter displays, donation / suggestion boxes and point of purchase (p.o.p) displays among other products.

Below are some general properties of acrylic sheet:

o Strong and resists weathering

o Flexible when compared with glass

o Less breakable than glass

o Abrasion resistant

o Can withstand sunlight for long durations

o Resistant to most chemicals and industrial fumes

o Can transmit or filter ultraviolet light

o Can be cleaned easily

o Can be cut by various methods

o Corrosion resistant

o Good insulator.

Other general properties include the ability to transmit and control light. They are also stable against discoloration, and have superior dimensional stability, as you would notice if you have an acrylic brochure display, counter display, donation / suggestion box or point of purchase (p.o.p) display. Possessing an excellent combination of structural and thermal properties, clear acrylic plastic is as transparent as the finest optical glass:

o Possess a light transmittance of 92%

o Low haze level of approximately 1%

o Index of refraction of 1.49

It also has the ability to be injected with color, producing a full spectrum of transparent, translucent, or opaque colors depending on your needs. This process does no harm in terms of long-term durability; colored acrylics can be used outdoors for a long time. Why? They are formulated to filter ultraviolet energy in the 360-nm and lower band. Other acrylic formulations are opaque to UV light or provide reduced UV transmission.

And how about mechanical properties? Although not known for having many, acrylics can be used for short-term loading. If the intended use is long-term, stresses must be limited to 1,500 psi to avoid surface cracking and deterioration.

Acrylic does well in the cold, as the impact resistance of standard formulations is maintained in these conditions. It should be noted that high-impact acrylic grades have greater impact strength than standard grades at room temperature, but impact strength decreases as temperature drops. Some types of acrylic are even known to resist bullets!

Acrylic plastics are highly scratch resistant, especially among other thermoplastics. It’s a good idea, however, to ensure proper maintenance and cleaning. Keep in mind that abrasion-resistant acrylic sheet is available and has the same optical and impact properties as standard grades. You will see this in many of our brochure displays, racks, counter displays, donation / suggestion boxes and point of purchase (p.o.p) displays.

This brings up a good point – its versatility and adaptability. Are you aware that Jet-aircraft cabin windows are made from acrylic sheet? They do this by inducing molecular orientation during forming. This proves the potential strength of acrylic sheet. How do they react to other chemicals and compounds? Acrylic sheet and moldings resist solutions of inorganic acids and alkalies and aliphatic hydrocarbons such as VM&P naphtha, as well as most detergent solutions and cleaning agents. They are attacked by chlorinated and aromatic hydrocarbons, esters, and ketones.

Do You Drink That Green Tea Plant?

The botanical name of the green tea plant is camellia sinensis. The same plant is used for black teas, but the leaves undergo minimal oxidation during processing in order to create the green varieties. Even though they are all derived from the same plant, the tea's flavor may vary greatly depending on the growing conditions, the harvesting time and the processing used. The caffeine and catechin contents vary, for the same reasons.

Catechins are antioxidants. They are the components of the leaves that have received a great deal of attention from scientific researchers. Most of the research has been done in the area of cancer prevention or treatment, but how catechins can reduce the risk of heart disease is a popular area of study, as well.

According to what we know now, catechins from the green tea plant are beneficial for people with type II diabetes, unhealthy cholesterol levels, anxiety, metabolic disorders, trouble losing weight, arthritis, poor circulation and viral infections. This wide range of benefits is due primarily to the catechins antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity, but some of the plant's pharmacological activity has yet to be fully explained.

The only warning is for people that are about to undergo surgery. They should avoid drinking the tea or taking a supplement, because of the anti-coagulant activity. Anti-coagulants reduce the risk of blood clots by preventing blood platelet aggregation. In other words, the catechins prevent the platelets from sticking together. Recovery from many types of surgery relies on the patients' ability to form a clot to stop bleeding.

The green tea plant is not the only one that contains catechins. It is also found in some varieties of the cocoa plant. The presence of these and other antioxidants in plants that are common in specific areas of the world may explain the health and longevity of people native to that area. That's what many researchers believe.

Until recently, green tea drinking was popular in the Eastern World, but black teas were more popular in the West. The incidence of heart disease and cancer is lower in the East than it is in the West. Researchers do not believe that is a coincidence. They believe that it has to do with dietary patterns common to these areas. The interest in the green tea plant came about as a result of examining the typical Japanese diet, as the incidence of heart disease and cancer is low in Japan.

Health experts rarely agree on anything, but one thing that most agree on is the importance of increasing your intake of antioxidants and other nutrients, without increasing your caloric intake. The easiest way to do that is with supplementation. Of course, not all supplements are created equal.

To get the best value for your money, look for one that contains basic vitamins and minerals, in the most readily absorbable form, along with amino acids, trace elements, co-factors and herbal extracts. Other than extracts from the green tea plant, look for turmeric, too. The antioxidants in turmeric are even more amazing. Visit my website to discover the supplements I recommend for you now.

Throwing Some Light on Fish Oil and Cholesterol

The links between fish oil and cholesterol are just one of many that also extends to heart health in general, and quite a few other medical conditions. These are known as essential fatty acids or omega 3, the so called good fats we need for so many different bodily functions.

We get them from our diet, but only if it includes fish like sardines, tuna and salmon. Sadly few of us eat enough of these and supplements are the next best thing.

In the case of something like cholesterol it gets a bit tricky because we're entering a bit of a mine field of information from studies, research, clinical trials and so on. The fact is that so many other factors come into play, and it's often difficult to know what to believe when faced with a lot of contradictory data on fish oil and cholesterol.

Add to that the degree of contention among the medical fraternity and you begin to realize how difficult it is to find a definitive yes or no to the basic question.

We have all probably heard of the two types of cholesterol, good being hdl and the bad variety called ldl. There's some recent evidence that points to a small rise in hdl if you take omega 3 supplements. It's only a few percent points, but that's enough for them to say that the chances of getting a heart attack are reduced, again only within a range of between 3-9%.

Undoubtedly there's much more to look at and sometimes the overall level of research is still in its infancy. Life is a lot about personal choices, and if good health is high on your agenda and something like fish oil and cholesterol might be a concern, take a moment to read more on my main site.

Russian Magic

Everyone agrees that the most beautiful girls live in Russia: well-groomed, slim and with this perfect amount of that mysterious soul mixed in. Well, you don’t need to check Russian girls are gorgeous. It’s a well-known fact that Russia has much more than its’ fair share of born stunners – your first visit to the country will tell you this. The secret of beauty lies in the mix of European, Asian, Caucasian and Mongolian bloods that once lived freely in early history of Russia.

The result is that fresh blood and the lovely mix that you find so attractive in Russian female looks – oval faces, high cheekbones, soft features, fair or slightly tanned skin, green, blue or grey eyes and blond, fair or brown thick hair which most of them prefer to wear long. And as an answer to the question “Why are Russian women so beautiful?” Russian women enjoy demonstrating their looks with that natural charm, refinement and elegance. You will admire and laugh at these birds, running across icy wintery sidewalks, wearing high heels with alarming skill and hardly even perspiring in their fur coats on public transport. Beauty requires sacrifice, knows every single one of them. They don’t mind making an effort and putting make up on before leaving for the nearest shop. But the distinctive feature is their femininity – being a woman, looking feminine and being attractive to men.

Russian women are tender, sensual and seek men who will respect and admire them for who they are and will be serious about their relationship. Most Russian women would like to find a man who is not afraid of commitment and wants to start a family, because in Russia women are traditionally marriage-oriented and their main focus is a happy family. Since childhood girls are taught to be loving and devoted wives to their husbands, to give birth to the children and to keep house nice and tidy. Women in Russia do not tend to fight for equal rights and rather encourage men to open the door for them or pay the restaurant bill. They let men be men because every Russian woman knows that her strengths are in her weaknesses. This realization personifies and reflects the magic phenomenon of Russian women. Paradoxically being strong themselves, they also want to possess weakness so their men are stronger. This is the way Russian girls are taught that things should be.

This cannot be mixed with Russian women being totally dependent on men, no, a lot of women in Russia are well-educated, have a good job and try to make a career. Many would rather be independent and rely on themselves. Russian women are hard-working, intelligent, smart and well-read.

Russian women are known to be more emotional than western women. They need to share everything and get man’s attention: tell the news of the day, take offence or even fight. But after that, become the same – loving and tender. It may seem that women exist in their own world. Russian women are very affectionate. They aren’t afraid to show their real emotions in public.

There’s something else about Russian women which you can’t help admiring – they are simply are the best at being who they were always destined to be as women. They make patient, calm, loving and devoted mothers. Seeing a woman who takes care of her children this much is warm and emotionally enriching. You will be filled with admiration over the amount of motherly love and care they deliver. They are ready to do everything that’s required and sacrifice the dearest for their children and their beloved ones. They are strong enough to do so.

Russian women are unique, they are enigmatic. They mesmerize, they charm and they excite. The magic that is in their nature, eyes, and smiles comes from their hearts.

USDA Sodium Recommendations – What Are They and Why Should You Care?

The United States Drug Administration has made its fair share of mistakes, and, in fact, still the many USDA guidelines and recommendations are reliably important in maintaining a healthy balance of salt and water in your oceanic body.

Let's go back to your school days (it was not that long ago, right?) And try to remember one of your most dangerous classes: Chemistry.

Chemically speaking, sodium in its pure form, is not a stable element, as it is volatile in water (of course dependent on the quantity involved in the exposure), but, as a compound, it exists as Sodium Chloride, better known as good 'ol fashioned salt.

So, sodium is an element of salt, and common sense should tell you that regulating your intake of salt, you also control the amounts of sodium that is required for your body to function optimally. This leads me to your other favorite class, biology.

Sodium plays a significant role in regulating blood and body fluids, the transmission of nerve impulses, heart activity, and certain metabolic functions. As you can see, it does a lot more than spice up your already sodium-soaked lunch.

Your body makes an effort to maintain a balance of water and salt, and so, when you exceed the limit of sodium through salt-ridden junk or fast food, it has to correct that balance by creating a sense of thirst. Of course, when it gets out of control as the sodium intake has far exceeded the limit for too long, it is then that we develop extreme conditions. So it is vital to pay attention to the balance of drinking water and regulating the amount of sodium that we consume on a day-to-day basis.

Finally, as per the USDA's recommendations, the maximum intake of sodium everyday should be limited to less than a teaspoon of salt or 2300 mg to be precise. That may look like a big number, but considering you can exceed that with ONE reliably nasty fast-food meal, it's definitely a number you should start paying attention to on the nutrition labels of the "foods" in your cart.

Seriously, grab just about anything in your house that came in a plastic bag or box – especially those with bright colors and CAPITALIZED health claims with exclusion points on the end – and check out the sodium per serving.

Remember, also, sodium is not all bad … extreme excesses of sodium are bad, so do not try and cut it out completely.

Diabetes, Psychosomatic Illness, And Erectile Dysfunction

Impotence or erectile dysfunction (ED) is a sexual health problem that is now rising among men. This condition is characterized by a man’s failure to perform an erection, keep an erection long enough to finish the sexual intercourse, or fail to have an ejaculation. This is the reason why men fail to perform well in bed. This ailment is not just a condition caused by old age or disease. Unhealthy lifestyles which includes excessive drinking, smoking, and unhealthy diets may contribute to the development of ED. In addition to these factors, ED can also be caused by physical abnormalities or it could be a product of mental disturbance. Understanding these factors can help people suffering from ED improve sexual performance and overall well-being.

Diabetes has also been known to cause ED because it affects some, if not all the bodily systems such as the circulatory, nervous, and the endocrine systems. The organs in these systems all work in harmony to let blood flow into the penis so that erection can take place. In addition, a number of medical studies show that diabetic persons are more likely to have low testosterone levels. Testosterone is a hormone that is responsible for the enhancement of libido or sexual energy. Men with type 1 diabetes are more likely to become impotent once they reach 40 years of age.

However, horny goat weed (Epemedium) and sildenafil are proven to be a safe and effective treatment for ED caused by diabetes. They work by improving blood flow in the penis and thereby enhance sexual pleasure and performance. It also helps men increase their stamina, last longer during sex, and reduce premature ejaculation. In addition, to its sexual benefits, horny goat weed is safe and may bring minimal side effects.

Impotence can also be a psychosomatic or psychological illness. Stress or exhaustion may be possible factors that contribute to this kind of sexual dysfunction. Unfortunately, many people are unaware that many ED cases are result of an underlying physical disorder. People who are unaware of of this disorder may develop stress build up over a period of time and worsen the case of sexual dysfunction. Individuals who are suffer from psychological ED may benefit from counseling. This may help identify unspoken reasons that can be remedied or reduce its effect through proper treatment.

To keep stress levels under control, the body’s well-being during stressful situations. The following methods have been proven to be very beneficial in relaxing the mind and therefore relieve mental and emotional troubles:

· Journaling or keeping a diary

· Cardiovascular and Resistance Exercises

· Ashtanga Yoga

· Listening to classical music

· Art Therapy

· Tai Chi Chuan

· Transcendental Meditation

In addition to these activities, a healthy and balanced diet should also be included in one’s daily routine. Plenty of vegetables, protein, and whole wheat foods can help reduce emotional troubles and make people feel more energized and less sluggish. Doing this will go a long way in getting individuals back in the mood. Sexual difficulties that are brought by diabetes and psychosomatic illness can be treated with alternative medicine and adjustments in lifestyles. However, health and medical experts should be consulted to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of activities or herbs. This condition can treated, but it should be done with advice of medical professionals. Improving sexual health by changing lifestyles, improving food regimens, or including exercise programs as part of one’s daily routines should be done to complement medical or alternative medicines.

Proper Spinal Care Becomes The Necessity of Life!

"If it is not broken, do not fix it!" We are all familiar with this statement. Perhaps you have even used it a few times yourself! However, these can be dangerous words if referring to one's health.

People who believe this about their health may be heading down a slippery slope to serious health problems. The "if it is not broke …" belief is founded on the notification that since pain usually means there is a problem, no pain must mean there's no problem. Those that hold this view make decisions about their health based entirely on how they feel. Tragically, health care is littered with catastrophic examples demonstrating the naiveté of this belief. Heart disease and cancer are two extreme examples on a long list of conditions that can develop silently, with no symptoms.

Back pain is one such condition. Remember the time you bent over and suddenly could not move because of pain? That back problem did not just happen. Ninety percent of back and neck pain is a direct result of failure in management of spinal health. In other words, spinal pain is not the start of a problem, it is the end result. A spell can be dysfunctional (not working correctly) for months or years before any pain is felt, thanks to the body's many compensating mechanisms. Those structural problems, together with the abnormal function they produce, have been shown to cause premature deterioration of the spine, as well as adverse effects on the nervous system. Indeed, the long-term health consequences of structural and functional problems of the spinal can be profound, yet often unnecessary. However, when the body runs out of ways to compensate, or the compensating mechanisms finally give up, the white flag goes up in the form of pain signals.

Science is now telling us there is more to silent spinal dysfunction problems than even most health practitioners are aware. Spinal dysfunction is usually the result of postural imbalance (imbalance), and abnormal spinal alignment and curvature. Those structural problems, together with the abnormal function they produce, have been shown to cause premature deterioration of the spine, as well as adverse effects on the nervous system. Indeed, the long-term health consequences of structural and functional problems of the spinal can be profound, yet often unnecessary.

Do not let pain be your guide. Instead, be proactive with regards to your spinal health. Book a chiropractic spinal check-up today! An ounce of prevention …

Data Recovery And Hard Disk Information Retrieval – A Complete Review

Recently my hard drive crashed, hey I do not mean that windows decided to be bitchy and make me reinstall it – Anyways it's really been a long time since I've been idiot enough to run Microsoft programs, thanks very much!

Well I mean that my hard drive, spinning away quietly at speed away irreverably, which all of a sudden emits a scratchy, screeching sound that can only be described as sickening, and immediately wiping out vast swathes of data like some primordial plague lord reaper scorching the continent of Europe with the bubonic. Sure this was one hellish experience, but nothing compared to the misery which began once I hired a hard disk data recovery service.

As a techie patiently enlighten me over the phone, a hard disk data recovery is not always a simple or a clear-cut affair. In order to complete a successful hard disk data recovery, it can either be a simple matter or an intricate one, and either expensive, or rather unreasonably expensive, depending on the severity of the problem.

At times the only problem is that something is not working with the loading mechanism of the hard drive. In fact there is more than a dozen of programs and macros which have to load to enable the computer to boot successfully, and if any one of these becomes cross-linked, or has any error at all with one of it's files, it can potentially cause a crash and necessitate a hard disk data recovery. Fortunately, this is the easy kind – it is even possible to for one to perform the hard disk data recovery with a little know-how and an extra hard drive. Simply slave boot the hard drive to another one, and extract the data off it – and you are ready to go as easy as pie!

However if you actually scratch the disk's surface, the hard disk data recovery becomes a much more tricky and a problematic affair. Time and again there are several solutions. Of which, one of them is to do a simple software hard disk data recovery, where you pull as much data off of the hard drive as you can can, and simply hope the scratch where it ruined too many of your files. If the hard drive has been physically wrecked – that is to say, if it is badly scratched and will not spin without doing further damage, or at all – then it must be taken apart physically, and the plates must be examined by sophisticated, expensive machinery. And this is the case where hard disk data recovery can run into the range of thousands of dollars!

Using a Circular Carbide Blade on Your Weed Whacker or String Trimmer

A Weed Whacker has various names: String Trimmer, Garden String Trimmer, Tree Pruner, Brush Cutter, Weed Eater, etc. As other articles have aptly pointed out, these versatile garden tools come with various cc-power levels, electric versus gasoline, and 2-stroke versus 4-stroke capacities. But what has not been addressed is the use of a "BLADE" on such a tool for all the versatility work a blade can perform in the garden environment.

A circular saw Blade specifically made for and attached to a Weed Whacker gives the following versatility uses in the garden environment:

1. Tree trimming (aka Pruning) which in many cases actually works better than using a cumbersome heavy chain saw for pruning since the circular blade can be wielded at the end of a lighter longer 6 foot Weed Whacker shaft for reaching up into trees. Such a blade can typically cut a tree branch / limb up to the diameter of the blade provided you cut from both sides of the limit.

2. A blade can be used for clearing large patches or even acreage of heavy thick wood stock brush and sticker brambles (aka: Blackberry sticker bushes) Where a common string line spool would be much too weak to cut through neatly.

3. Hedge trimming is a dream with a blade attached to a Weed Whacker; the hedging action is faster and less jagged as compared to a standard hedging tool. So in conclusion, a blade attached to a Weed Whacker augments your common standard string trimmer into a full-on chain saw, hedge trimmer, and large acreage clear of wood stock weed, saplings, and heavy tall growth brambles (ergo, Black Berry bushhes ).

Each Weed Whacker on the market is different and so each owner of their particular Weed Whacker will have to contact their respective Weed Whacker Manufacturer to inquire about BLADE attachment hardware. Most electric-powered versions are UNDER powered for handling a blade so will probably not have blade attachment hardware available. On the other hand, most gasoline powered Weed Whacker's will have Blade attachment hardware available. Blade attachment hardware typically consists of a standard blade guard along with a few small metal parts that fit on (slide onto) the little threaded shaft that the String Spool screws onto. These little pieces of hardware will consist of the lower part that will have a raised circle about the size of a common 25 cent piece (quarter) or as small as a nickel (5 cent piece). This raised circle is how the hole in the center of the blade fits on, then the upper part hardware piece Variously called "the cap piece" is applied on the top of the blade, then a nut that is screwed on top of the cap, followed by a cotter pin.

The hole in the blade is known as the ARBOR Hole. So it is important to know your "Arbor Hole" hardware diameter in order to match the blade's Arbor Hole to your hardware when purchasing Blades for Your Weed Whacker. The most standard Arbor Hole diameters in the industry are 1 ", which is the same as 25.4mm, but also 20mm as well. there are some Arbor Holes in these much less used diameters: 0.75in & 0.50in.) SPECIAL NOTE: A table saw blade should never be used on a Garden String Trimmer as such blades are more brittle and built for only up to 3,450 rpm. Such blades can shatter when hitting a rock or something very hard which could be a safety concern not protected by the attached blade guard.

Blades typically come with steel teeth or CARBIDE teeth. Carbide is well worth considering since a Carbide Tipped (teeth) blade reputably can last up to 10 times longer than a standard steel blade but cost now close to ten times more money. In fact, a Carbide tooth blade normally does not even cost twice as much for 5 to 10 times the longevity over plain steel (maintaining sharpness for continued cutting power is the key to a blades value in relation to cost). It should be noted that Carbide is not really easily sharpened but steel can be. However, it should also be noted that the price of these steel blades makes them more of a throw away item once used since since the cost to re-sharpen (in time or money) is typically more than the cost of a new blade.

Standard Weed Whacker blades come in various styles:

1. THREE-PRONG or five-prong for simple soft green weed cutting. Each large prong has a cutting edge rather than actual teeth. The deeper inner most part of each prong does not often get the same cutting time as the outer edge part of each prong so dulling occurs in an imbalanced manner. This type of blade will not be suitable for pruning trees or hedging, nor for cutting heavy duty wood-stock type weeds, brush, or brambles. This type of blade is the cheapest and dulls the quickest since it spreads its cutting surface over only three to five cutting edges and only comes in basic steel, not carbide.

2. Thirty (30) to Forty (40) TEETH Blade: This is the next step up in Weed Whacker blade choices. Obviously 40 teeth offers substantially more aggregate cutting surface than the blade type mentioned above (3-prong). This type of blade is very adequate for cutting heavy stock weeds (eg tumble weeds), heavy thick brush and blackberry type sticker brambles but are not suitable for Pruning or Hedging. It should be added that these type blades must be sharp, otherwise the teeth tend to grab and tug wood stock weeds when dull. The reason Pruning and Hedging are not suitable for this type blade is too few teeth make this blade tend to seize inside green moist tree limbs when pruning and make it tend to tear and create jagged-tugging-yanking cuts on a hedge rather than smooth and attractive cuts. This type of blade usually comes in plain steel that dulls quickly but some are now available in carbide tipped teeth as well.

3. Eighty (80) to one hundred (100) TEETH Blade: This is the highest level in the Weed Whacker Blade choices. It should be clear now that the more teeth you have cutting, the more aggregate cutting surface area you are applying to the job at hand. In addition, an 80 tooth blade costs more money to make as compared to a blade with half as many cutting teeth as mentioned in (2) above (40 teeth). But the cost is not typically much more if at all for having 80 teeth over 40 teeth. The 80 plus teeth blade offers the most versatility, stays sharper longer and is the best value for the buck. The 100 teeth type blade is the absolute best value since if offers 25% more cutting surface area (teeth) over an 80 tooth blade.

The one main consideration is that the typical 80 tooth blade comes in 8 inch diameter that fits with the safety blade guard ON your Weed Whacker, and the 100 tooth type blade is normally 9 to 10 inch in diameter and therefore will not allow a blade guard to fit. We recommend that the maximum size diameter blade be limited to 9 inches unless you have a very powerful Weed Whacker, otherwise the large circumference of the largest blades can bog down the motor. So in conclusion: 8 "and 9" diameter blades are best, offer the most aggregate cutting surface, there stay stay sharper longer, and offer the most versatility of jobs in the garden. NOTE: We think Carbide teeth are so worth the small extra purchase cost that we would say a 40 tooth carbide blade would be recommended over an 80 tooth plain steel any day of the week. But the 80 tooth or 100 tooth blade with Carbide Teeth is the absolute best there is.

Why Do I Seem to Pick the Worst Coping Skills?

Does it seem that when you are stressed, you often pick coping skills that do not seem to work? I hear this quite frequently … people come into my office and tell me that their coping skills do not work because they are still feeling sad / angry / depressed …

I heard a quote once that said that it is the coping skills that work we do not really notice them, it is the coping skills that do not work that we hold onto and that we keep using. This is so true! We often get stuck using the ones that do not work often because they worked at some point, even if very little. Example; we are feeling upset and so we listen to music. It made us feel better. We feel bad for another reason and it does not make us feel better but we keep trying to use the music as a coping skill.

I am not suggesting that you give up your copying skills! Far from it, rather I am asking you to look at the less obvious ways that you agree and see if they are actually serving you well. An example of this less visible form of coping would be to not take responsibility for actions that you did, or to blame other people, or to ague back when feeling defensive. Because these are things that we do rather than things that can be seen they are much harder to pinpoint and attach as coping skills.

So, then, how do you find out these ways of coping? Well, the best way is to seek out the patterns. What is it that you do when confronted? What do you do when you are upset, when you feel cornered, when you feel blamed? Take yourself through a whole list of scenarios not based on the feeling, but rather based on the thought (in other words, we feel angry when we are blamed but we may react differently to being blamed than when a restaurant does not have what we want to order yet we feel "angry" for both situations).

Once you see the patterns, note how you react and then ask yourself "Am I getting what I want by reacting this way?" For example, I have worked with someone who would use threats to get what they wanted. They would say in therapy that they did this because their partner was not listening and so they felt that they had to resort to this form of punishment. Seriously? How many people do you know, yourself included do what someone is telling you to do when you threaten? (This is of course not when the treat is life threatening, I am talking about a threat such as "I am going to leave you if you do not …") The person knew after looking at how this will actually work for the other person that this most likely will not work and all they are doing is setting them up. The question for me is, is that enough to make them stop? Reward is very powerful. This person sometimes gets what they want by such behavior, so are they able to see the changes and positive aspects of not using threats when to date it has to some degree worked?

This is one reason to go to a skilled therapist. They are qualified to help that person look at their patterns and make real changes to them that are more sustainable. That being said, can anyone do this on their own? Most likely, if they are dedicated enough.

Mental Health Services

Mental health problems are common with around 25% of the population believed to be suffering from some form of mental health problem at any point in time. Anyone suffering from a mental health problem can access proper treatment and most who do seek help will make a complete recovery but unfortunately, there are still people who are afraid of admitting that they cannot cope or that they need help and will suffer unnecessary mental distress due to lack of understanding about their illness or awareness of what help is available. So what mental health services are available to anyone suffering from mental illness?

The first point of contact is your doctor. They will be able to make a full assessment of your symptoms and your physical and mental health in general as well as take into consideration any other factors involved including any family history of mental illness in order to make an accurate diagnosis because an accurate diagnosis is essential if the right help and assistance is to be offered. For most people, a simple visit to the doctor may be all that is required to put them on the road to recovery.

However, your doctor might feel that you could also benefit from other mental health services so once he or she has made a diagnosis they will be able to start you on a suitable treatment programme which could include medication and/or referral to other professionals or specialists in the community mental health team as required, for example, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, various types of counsellors or therapists and so on.

The Community Mental Health Team (CMHT)

It may be that you require specialist skills in order to help you cope with your mental illness and as one person couldn’t conceivably be an expert in every single area, you could be referred to someone in the community mental health team. The community mental health team will vary depending on which area that you live, some may be attached to a hospital or work from a doctors surgery and others could possibly have their own clinic in a separate building but typically, they consist of professionals such as psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses who may also be trained to deal with specific problems or behaviours, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and various other therapists and counsellors.

It is quite likely that one person will be appointed as your key worker and will be liaising with you on a regular basis and visiting you at home. This person could be a social worker, a nurse, some type of therapist or quite commonly, a community psychiatric nurse or CPN.

The CPN will assess your progress on a regular basis, will identify and help you deal with any problems you might have and put you in touch with others who can help, they will monitor your mediation and any effects of that medication and will generally offer support. They will work closely with other professionals in the team so that everyone is aware of any particular issues or challenges that need to be dealt with. The CMHT will also regularly inform your doctor about your progress, your medication and any other issues involved in your case.

It might be that you need help from other professionals. For example, an occupational therapist can help you regain some independence in your life if you are suffering from any disabilities, they can help you to do things for yourself and improve your confidence in areas such as dressing, washing and other practical skills. Social workers can help with many social problems such as housing needs, financial issues and maybe parenting or child care challenges. Basically, the Community Mental Health Team enables you to access the right kind of help from professionals who are trained in a specific area.

It might be that you need to spend some time in hospital to get over a particularly difficult episode of mental illness or where it is considered appropriate but this decision is not taken lightly. Hospitals can offer safety and protection and many people will voluntarily admit themselves to hospital in order to get the right assistance and support. However, there are also compulsory admissions made under the Mental Health Act in order to protect the person themselves or those around them. For some people, the thought of admission to hospital can be frightening but it is important to remember that a stay in hospital can be a lifesaver and hospitals are there to help and are better equipped to deal with particularly severe cases of mental illness.

More support

Family and friends can be instrumental in helping someone who is suffering from mental health problems to progress and regain control of their lives and as such are an extremely important part of any support network. There are also numerous other agencies, support organisations, and charities offering help to people suffering from various mental health problems. Some will also tackle issues related to mental health by raising awareness in the community and others can provide information, advice and support to people who are affected by mental health problems in their family. You can ask your doctor or mental health professional what other assistance is available in your area.

How The Causes of Hair Loss Are Best Addressed

The causes of hair loss or alopecia are numerous, but almost all of them are treatable. Results vary with the solutions that are currently on the market, but more than 50% of women and men are pleased with the results. The best results are seen when the problem is addressed in two ways; through oral nutritional supplements and through topically applied solutions.

Although there is no "number one" cause, alopecia seems to run in families, which indicates that a gene is involved. Researchers in Japan recently identified a gene that they believe is responsible for male pattern baldness.

Other types of alopecia are caused by nutritional deficiencies, including iron and zinc deficiencies. Bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections are sometimes the cause. Splotchy or patchy baldness sometimes occurs in people that have autoimmune deficiencies. Sometimes referred to as "spot" baldness, it is the most difficult to treat, but is also the rarest, occurring in only .1.2% of the population.

Drugs are sometimes hair loss causes. Chemotherapy, for example, is the cause of baldness that occurs in cancer patients. Sometimes, cancer treatment results in total loss of hair over the entire body. Sometimes, only baldness of the head occurs.

Psychological conditions, in which people people habitually pull or twist on their locks will obviously result in bald spots. But, people are generally aware of the problem.

Frequent chemical treatments or heat processing can result in thinning and often in balding. If the hairs on your head seem to split or break easily, over-processing is the most likely cause. Try to be a little gentler.

If you are a woman past the age of 40-45, alopecia may be a menopause-related symptom, although there is some confusion about which hormone is involved. It is known that androgens (male hormones) seem to play a role in male-pattern baldness, but in women, some researchers believe that low levels of estrogen are the causes of hair loss during and after menopause.

Most researchers agree that the sooner treatment is started; the more successful it is likely to be. Stopping treatment will stop the progress and it will gradually worsen, again. That is one of the reasons that many people give up on treatment. They lose patience or they do not want to apply a solution every day.

A compound called Minoxidil addresses the hair loss causes that have to do with androgens and possibly other hormones. It typically takes several months to see results, because hair-growth goes through phases. Some follicles are naturally in a dormant stage, while others are active. Growth may seem to occur in spurts, but it is part of the natural process.

Increasing your nutritional intake will improve the thickness and strength of your hairs. Certain nutrients are particularly important, including biotin and vitamin B6. Men need more zinc. Women typically need more magnesium.

There are some well-designed products on the market for both men and women that address many of the common causes of hair loss, particularly those that are age-related.

They can be purchased without a prescription and the better manufacturers guarantee results.
