Everyone agrees! Bearded dragons are the best pet reptiles around. They’re not just easy to handle but have some of the most amusing behaviors ever observed. When you see beardies in action though, don’t be fooled – it’s not an illusion or party trick. Behaviors such as arm waving are perfectly natural and may indicate that your beardie is calm and happy. However understanding their behaviors can be difficult and so no one behavior has been clearly defined. Instead it appears that certain behaviors have a number of meanings. It all depends on who’s around and the situation your bearded dragon finds himself in.

I’ll start off with the most popular behavior of all, and for good reason. It’s no wonder that bearded dragons have a beard. What many don’t realize is that this is not just a physical trait but a behavior used as a defensive mechanism or to display dominance over another dragon. This is done by ‘inflating’ the spines below their mouth making them appear larger, more threatening and I guess, less edible. This behavior is most prominent during breeding season as males become more defensive and whilst the behavior has been observed in females it is most commonly used by males.

Arm waving is the next best thing. It is really quite entertaining to watch a lizard greet you with a friendly wave. They lift one of their front legs and move it in a forward circular motion. Whilst the actual meaning is unclear, both male and females have been seen displaying this behavior to the same and opposite gender. It also appears to be used as an indication of submission or simply as a friendly hello.

Beardies will use a behavior known as gaping to warn off predators. As a defense mechanism, they will open their mouth and inflate their beard. However this particular display has two meanings and the second is the most important to be aware of. When a bearded dragon overheats, it first gives you a series of warning signs. However when it becomes quite severe the dragon will open their mouth or gape in an attempt to release heat and decrease their body temperature. When this happens you will need to cool them down by taking them out of the heat and placing them in a cool place. It would be a good idea at this point to check the temperatures in the enclosure as you may need to adjust the lighting.

Generally a healthy dragon at a peak level of alertness will display a behavior known as tail curbing. When doing this they curl their tail up and point it forward. You may notice this before meal time as they become very active, alert and intensely focused on the food.

Another incredibly amusing display is the bearded dragon head bob. This bob can be slow or fast depending on the situation. In some instances a fast bob may cause the beardie to shake quite vigorously. These displays usually occur as a mating ritual in which both the male and female participate. It may also indicate a sign of aggression or submission, again depending on the speed of the bob.

Because you don’t have a visual on the husband and he is armed. So you want to get you and her somewhere near your patrol car, and then contact MEDICS. All this can be done within seconds. Next you’ll want to get a hold of your shift supervisor.

This type of question is pretty common during the police oral board interview. The panel wants to see how well you handle scenes that are totally unpredictable. Here’s a rule of thumb: If you don’t know what to do- call your shift supervisor pronto.

If People Could Hear the Twitter About Twitter, We'd All Be Deaf

Have you gone to the movies laTely? I am obsessed with going to movies and go pretty much once a week, if not more often. Anyway, if you go as often as I do you've probably been subjected to many different versions of the "Do not talk during the movie!" message. How about the one where the screen is black except for those jumping soundwave lines and there are a bunch of loud noises going on at once: a baby screaming, people talking, cellphone ringing, etc. Do you know the one I'm talking about?

If so, you know how that commercial makes you want to pull your hair out because it's so annoying? Well, take that feeling but replace those noises – baby crying, talking, etc – with Twitters. Imagine that instead of reading everyone's "tweets" or incessant chatter about Twitter you can actually hear them. Lately that's what it feels like inside my head.

Do not get me wrong, I love to twitter (I prefer to refer to it as twittering, not tweeting). Nothing more entertaining than consistently spitting out 140 word witty insights or random thoughts. Ditto reading other people's twitters. The twittering itself is not the problem.

The thing that's gnawing at me is reading a million blog posts ABOUT twittering. It's one thing to read someone's actual twitters; it's another to blog after blog post with each author's spin on how they're discovered Twitter and are now twittering. Enough already – we get it.

It's like Twitter is a new religion or something – people discover it and feel like they've uncoated a new frontier or something. Not like I'm a veteran myself or anything – I've only been doing it for a few weeks – but I do not feel it's so revolutionary that it warrants constant "Hey – look at me – I'm twittering! " blog posts or conversations.

Imagine if it was the phone – fine, everyone's talking on the phone. But what if everyone started blogging about how they're talking on the phone, analyzing every little shred of why they're talking, what they're talking about, why it's good to talk on the phone, etc, etc. Probably would not be all that interesting to read about, right? Ditto writing about Twitter.

There are only so many ways you can analyze Twitter. Granted, I myself am guilty of exactly what I'm criticizing others for: blogging about Twitter so I'm one to talk.

Some advice has been to take hot showers, but I would only recommend this unless you have proper filtration, otherwise you’re inhaling chlorine fumes and whatever chemicals are still left in the water. 9. You can use hot compresses to relieve some of the swelling and help increase blood flow. This may not be good if you have a sinus headache.

10. If you suffer from allergies and it’s allergy season, try to give your sinuses a break. Keep your windows closed at night. The peak time for many allergens is between 5 P.M. and 10 A.M.

11. Whether you know you suffer from allergies or don’t know if you have any try to reduce the stress on your sinuses at night. Use hepa air cleaners. Use hepa vacuums when you vacuum. Use dust mite mattress and pillow case covers which are relatively cheap to help keep the allergens under control. Wash your sheets and other bedding in hot water often.
