The Incredible Sandalwood Oil Benefits for Skin Care

Sandalwood tree is a part of the Santalaceae family and it is often called East Indian Sandalwood. A type of hemiparasitic evergreen in nature it requires root systems belonging to other trees to join in order to grow. Sandalwood heartwood is used to obtain sandalwood essential oil. For more than four thousand years, Sandalwood oil has been in use by individuals and industries to prepare cosmetics and fragrances due to its truly exotic scent. Further, the oil has been used widely for spiritual, meditative, and personal care purposes. Extraction of the oil is done with the help of mature wood steam distillation. In most cases, sandalwood trees aged between 40 and 80 are utilized. Generally, the older a tree, the more oil it can make available. Also, older trees are able to produce oil having better aroma compared to younger trees.

7 Essential Benefits of Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a term that you are probably familiar with by now, especially with the many varieties of aromatherapy massage now often sold at leading salons and spas all over the world. However, what you may not have realized is that aromatherapy is an age-old practice that can be used at home to treat a number of common and even serious ailments.

Aromatherapy is a healing therapy that uses the essential oils of plants to soothe and treat countless illnesses. The first recorded use of essential oils was more than 6000 years ago as a staple of the Egyptian culture and healing system. Today, aromatherapy is becoming popular for providing the same benefits in our culture, with one of the most common uses being for relaxation and stress relief.

To get you started on your home aromatherapy treatment, here are the top seven benefits that you can expect from using aromatherapy:

1. Improved mood. Rosemary is an essential oil that has been proven to boost the mood and offer feelings of contentment. Even better, this essential oil provides a positive benefit in overall mood and performance by reducing the stress hormone cortisol in the body. At the very least, rosemary in aromatherapy can be used on a regular basis to relieve stress, induce relaxation, and prevent anxiety.

2. Get a better night's sleep! If you find yourself tossing and turning every night and even sleeping pills will not help you to relax, aromatherapy may be the answer that you have been looking for. Aromatherapy is quite helpful for treating sleep disorders, and it is one of the fastest growing alternative therapies in the Western world. The topical use of essential oils will stimulate the limbic system in the brain that controls emotion and mood, meaning that aromatherapy can effectively induce calm, relaxation, and a deep sleep so that you can wake up feeling refreshed.

3. Improve your complexion. Many aesthetians would agree that aromatherapy is a powerful tool to alleviate a number of skin conditions, especially dry and flaky skin. If dry and flaky skin is left untreated, it can cause premature wrinkling and signs of age. For this reason, aromatherapy is helpful to keep the skin youthful, moist, and balanced, and it will also improve even more serious conditions of the skin, like eczema and psoriasis. Many essential oils provide anti-inflammatory benefits to reduce dryness and irritation and calm red and rough skin.

4. Relieve chronic asthma. If you are having difficulty with constant wheezing and coughing caused by asthma, when used wisely and under professional care, aromatherapy can often free asthmatic lungs of irritation. Wheezing is caused by pushing air through swollen bronchial passes, which frequently results in an asthma attack. Professional aromatherapy treatment can provide asthma relief in between these attacks by rubbing anti-histamine and decongestant essential oils, like ginger and peppermint, directly on the chest.

5. Treat nausea and stomach problems. If you suffer with persistent digestive issues, like stomach pain, intestinal gas, belching, and nausea, all of the above can be quickly relieved with aromatherapy. In fact, using essential oils for stomach issues in children is a helpful home remedy for any young kids who have difficulty swallowing medicine. Aromatherapy targets the first stage of digestion by signaling the brain that food is on the way to create the immediate response of flowing digestive juices to alleviate a number of stomach issues. Aromatherapy also provides the added benefit of relieving stress and anxiety overall, which is often the cause of nausea and a queasy stomach.

6. Reduce the symptoms of PMS. PMS is something that many women struggle with on a monthly basis, and it can often cause a series of emotional and physical problems. PMS symptoms vary individually from woman to woman, and if you have very severe symptoms around the time of your period, aromatherapy may be the perfect answer. It is helpful to take an aromatic bath or get a massage with essential oils to reduce symptoms like depression, mood swings, irritability, and even bloating and tenderness.

7. Get rid of a bladder infection. Bladder infections are more common than you may realize, especially in women. Fortunately, aromatherapy provides several essential oils to take care of this issue, such as sandalwood, chamomile, tea tree, and juniper berry. However, it is important to use trained aromatherapy techniques for this treatment because because with too much juniper berry could cause irritation to the kidneys if administrated incorrectly. A bladder infection can be quickly treated using aromatherapy by applying the essential oils in a compress over the bladder or taking an aromatherapy bath screened with essential oils.

As you can see, aromatherapy is a legitimate and effective alternative healing therapy. If you are struggling with any of the above issues and are sick of taking medications or using other forms of treatment, aromatherapy offers a gentle substitute that will alleviate numerous illnesses and concerns. Even more importantly, all of the benefits of using aromatherapy listed above are just the beginning since aromatherapy has been proven to treat countless physical and emotional issues!

It is highly important to have legitimate training for the use of aromatherapy since using some essential oils improperly could cause fatigue or irritation. Perhaps the simplest way to benefit from aromatherapy is in the form of a massage or bath, which will also provide you with a multitude of relaxation benefits. If you are new to aromatherapy, you can first try out aromatherapy massage from a massage therapist, which will integrate specific essential oils to target any physical or emotional problems you may be struggling with. On top of that, you will receive the anti-stress benefits of massage to relax your muscles, improve circulation, and flush dangerous toxins from your body.

Aromatherapy is a versatile and user-friendly form of healing that offers a long list of home remedies to maintain your health without paying for expensive medications or doctor's visits! Additionally, aromatherapy will also give you the much needed stress relief that you have been looking for to relax and improve your health from the inside out.

Brain Herbs: How Certain Herbs Can Empower Your Brain

There are safe and effective plants out there that can help your mind, call them brain herbs. You might be surprised at what these simple herbs have to offer. However, as people turn more and more to natural remedies to bolster their health researchers are taking a harder look at many of the plants used today. Here’s a look at some of the ones that are good for the brain.

One of the most common and widely used of the herbs for the brain is Ginkgo Biloba. Most people who are at least somewhat familiar with natural supplements have heard of Ginkgo. It is also one of the most studied and tested extracts out there.

Ginkgo is one of a few herbs which stimulate the brain primarily by increasing blood flow to the brain. The brain is one of the single largest consumers of oxygen among the organs of the body. One of the reasons that people lose cognitive ability as they age is that blood flow to the brain decreases as the circulatory system loses efficiency. Ginkgo acts upon the circulatory system to enhance blood flow thereby helping to provide more oxygen to the brain.

Ginkgo is also among a group of brain herbs that help protect nerve cells by acting as an antioxidant. Antioxidants protects cells against damage by free radicals (particles in the body that can harm cells and their DNA). Ginkgo has two compounds in it that operate as antioxidants. It is believed that free radical damage is a contributing factor in the development of Alzheimer’s and dementia as people age. Ginkgo helps to reduce or eliminate the damage to the brain that can cause some of these more serious issues later.

Another on our list of brain herbs is Siberian Ginseng. This is also fairly well known among herbal users. Ginseng works to restore alertness and improve memory functioning. A recent study on Ginseng showed a noticeable improvement in the memory of people who took Ginseng for three months compared to the group who took a placebo.

Ginseng also seems to boost the immune system and works with the body to help it adjust to stressors. This makes it one of the more useful of the herbs for the brain as it is seems to protect it from a broad range of factors.

Our list of brain herbs also includes Gotu Kola. Gotu Kola is a plant that has been used for generations in asia to treat skin diseases, improve mental functioning and treat a host of aliments from wounds to insomnia. Gotu Kola is one of the herbs which stimulate the brain by reducing the processes of anxiety in the brain and increasing clarity and thought processes. Gotu Kola also helps the circulatory process and may be useful for reducing some types of high blood pressure.

Along with Gotu Kola, Passion Flower is another of the herbs for the brain that seem to reduce anxiety and improve overall mood and functioning. It is also given in Europe and other places as a treatment for ADHD. It may also benefit your brain by helping reduce or prevent insomnia allowing for a better night’s sleep.

While all these herbs can be obtained in supplement form by themselves, recent advances in the manufacturing of supplements has led to combination supplements that provide a balanced mixture of these herbs along with other ingredients that benefit the mind. These mind focused supplements should contain the above mentioned brain herbs at a minimum. When choosing a supplement always check with a doctor who is familiar with supplements to ensure that they do not interact with any medications you are on. Also make sure to look for a manufacturer with a reputation for quality and purity of ingredients. However, using a good supplement may go a long way toward empowering your brain.

Depression – These Types Of Depression Are Dangerous

Depression is a potentially crippling mental disorder that effects people of all ages. Depression is also one of the most misunderstood disorders that there is, with some types being nearly impossible to diagnose until after several years of treatment.

There are several different types of known depression. Some of the most common are Bipolar Disorder, also known as Manic Depression, Major Depression, Postpartum Depression, Atypical Depression, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and Dysthymic Disorder.

The more serious of these disorders is Major Depression and Bipolar Disorder. People that suffer from Major Depression experience feelings of fatigue, lack of interest in things that they used to enjoy, including sex, depressive mood, drastic weight fluctuation, either gain or loss, low self esteem, hopelessness and thoughts of suicide. Most of these symptoms must be present for more than a two week period in order for a doctor to diagnose you with Major Depression. People that suffer from Major Depression experience a high rate of suicide.

People with Bipolar Disorder experience a high rate of suicide also. Mood swings are very common with Manic sufferers, sometimes violent. You can be talking to an individual and everything will be fine and they may immediately turn on you or someone else. They experience "high" periods where they feel as if they can conquer the world. These periods may last for hours or even days, but at any time, the depression always returns. Bipolar sufferers sometimes mutilate their bodies. You may notice scars up and down their arms or legs.

If you are having any of these symptoms and they've been longer than two weeks, it's very important that you let someone close to you know how you're feeling and make arrangements to see a doctor as soon as possible. Do not keep it to yourself! You can get help and get back to living a normal life.

Check Out This Raw Natural Honey

Thanks to the honey bee, nature provides us with raw natural honey, one of the world's most perfect substances. We all know it's naturally good for the body, both as a superfood and as an additive to so many cosmetic products. It's so versatile, from being a perfect sugar substitute in tea, to being a main ingredient in so many lotions and shampoos. So what is it about this natural, earthy nectar that actually promotes our good health? The reasons are almost too numerous to mention, but here are some of the most important facts to ponder and appreciate.

Raw Natural Honey is a natural anti-oxidant

First and foremost, honey has a built-in, carcinogen-preventing formulation. It's loaded with flavonoids, a plant substance that is a natural anti-oxidant and a proven free-radical fighter. When bees visit a flower, they transfer flavonoids into the honey we consume. So honey in essence helps the human body attack and remove free radicals, improving our body's immunity to disease, including cancer and heart disease. Honey does not cure, but it does help with prevention. Hang on, I'm going to put some honey on my toast right now!

Raw Natural Honey is anti-bacterial

Second, honey is a natural anti-bacterial agent. There is a natural enzyme in honey called glucose oxidase. This is the enzyme that helps our bodies form hydrogen peroxide. When honey is used in dressing a wound, honey stimulates the natural production of hydrogen peroxide, thereby helping the body kill off bacteria around the wound. This is why a small amount of honey dabbed on skin rashes, burns or abrasions helps the body heal itself.

Raw Natural Honey is the perfect natural carb

Third, honey will increase your athletic performance. Nothing gets the body energized faster than carbs, and glucose is the carb that'll get you there. Since honey is a natural glucose, many pro athletes use it instead of processed sugar. On a personal note, I used to compete in raquetball tournaments. Nothing energized me more that peanut butter and honey sandwiches on whole wheat. Do this two hours before your sporting event, and you'll have energy galore.

Raw Natural Honey soothes cough and throat irritation

Fourth, honey helps with cough and throat irritation. Remember the natural anti-bacterial qualities of this bee nectar? Combine that quality with the soothing consistency of honey, and it makes for a powerful aid in combating sore throats and coughs. For best results, use raw natural honey in your favorite tea, and drink this pot as hot as you can stand it.

Here's just a few more little interesting facts. Did you know that honey is a natural skin moisturizer? A small amount of raw natural honey spread lightly over your skin makes it baby soft, because honey is a natural moisturizer. Did you know you can wash with it? Allergies and facial blemishes have been known to clear up quickly when using honey as a cleaning agent. This is why you find honey in so many organic soaps … it works. Honey is used in shampoos for the same reason, because it is just so naturally good for your skin.

Amazing Benefits of Raw Natural Honey

There are dozens more benefits that could be listed here, but suffice it to say that honey is an amazing, natural substance. Next time you see a honey bee, treat him with respect, because he's busy creating a gift of healing, taste, and powerful earthy forces that frankly, we do not yet quite completely comprehend. And while our research labs keep studying honey for all of its beneficial properties, we do know enough to appreciate it for the many gifts it has to offer today. Do yourself a favor, and make raw natural honey a daily part of your life. The benefits to you will be too numerous to count.

Diabetes Epidemic through Self-inflated Obesity

One of the greatest contributors to the type 2 diabetes epidemic is reckoned to be obesity, bought on by our modern lifestyles. Are you eating yourself into diabetes type 2?

Check if you have these 4 eating habits that could contribute to obesity and possibly make you part of the type 2 diabetes epidemic …

1) Unconscious eating … No, I do not mean 'sleep-eating' (I wonder if there is such a thing?) I'm talking about automatic eating without any conscious thought to what is happening.

How often do you do something else whilst eating? Watching TV; reading a book; reading a magazine or newspaper; listening to music, a radio show or conversation? If you're anything like me it's probably a rare occasion when you just sit and have a meal, without interruptions.

A recent study carried out by Penn State laboratory showed pre-school children, who consistently watch TV while eating, ate up to 33% more than they did when they had a meal without the TV on.

How much extra do you eat, without realizing it, because you are absorbed in a book or TV program?

2) Eating speed .. Ever finished your meal before others? Ever bolted your food down and then felt bloated afterwards?

In a recent Sky TV program Paul McKenna (the famous hypnotherapist) explained how the simple act of slowing down whilst eating; putting your knife and fork down between mouthfuls, can contribute to weight loss.

Think about it, if you're eating more slowly you'll know when you're full. You will not continue eating and get that uncomfortable bloated feeling. And you will not put extra weight on.

Watching that program gave me an 'Aha!' moment, because that's exactly what my father has done all his life. It's a standing joke in the family that he takes so long to eat a meal – he often finishes half-an-hour after everyone else. And guess what? Yep – he's as skinny as a rake. Wish I could say the same about me!

3) Snacking … Are you really hungry when you snack? Or is it that you "just fancy a bite to eat"?

Snacking is probably one of the largest contributions to weight gain. It's not so much the snacking, it's what you snack on! Cookies / biscuits, chocolate, cakes, snack bars – all these contain massive amounts of sugar that increase the burden on our immune system.

If you overload your system with sugar it may not accept, you could end up with insulin resistance and that leads to type 2 diabetes.

Healthy, no added sugar or sugar free snacks are the best options if you MUST snack.

4) Sugary drinks … Do you have a favorite soft drink? If you do, is it a sugar-sweetened drink or a concentrated sugar-rich fruit juice? And, on a hot day, how much do you drink of that favorite? Half-a-liter? One liter?

It's all added sugar, which not only impacts on your weight, it also impacts on your body's control of the sugar levels in your blood.

In a recent medical study in the US the results indicated that having just one sugar sweetened drink of fruit juice every day made women more susceptible to becoming part of the type 2 diabetes epidemic, by up to 80% .

So, are you planning to be part of the diabetes epidemic?

OK, maybe you're not planning to … but maybe your unconscious eating habits have got you on that slippery slope to diabetes. A little thought about what you eat, where and how, can reduce the risk for you.

Colitis Cure – Natural Remedies That Work

Many people diagnosed with ulcerative colitis have already tried prescription drugs and often surgery to combat their illness. In most cases, the medical treatments only work to suppress the symptoms for a while. But since they do not heal the underlying causes of colitis, it is nearly impossible to effect a cure using medical methods.

Ulcerative colitis is usually caused by one or several of the following factors combining synergistically to produce disease. If you go back over your own personal health history, I think you'll find a mix of the following damaging events, that singly or in combination have degraded the health of your gut and immune system:

  • Antibiotic Use – any antibiotic therapy that is not followed by full-spectrum probiotic therapy causing lasting, pervasive damage to the bacterial flora of your gastrointestinal tract (from mouth to anus), which in turn leads to increased infestation of yeast, parasites, viruses, bad bacteria and other pathogens. These pathogens degrade the mucosal lining and damage the intestinal wall (symptoms include bloating, gas, inflammation, bleeding, etc.) which leads to Leaky Gut Syndrome, which then triggers allergic and auto-immune response. Certain antibiotic drugs can cause ulcerative colitis all by themselves (like Novo Clindamycin), and the pharmaceutical information that comes with these products even exlicitly warnings of this. Yet medical doctors continue to prescribe them and also do not follow usage with probiotics.
  • Environmental and Food-borne Toxins – processed foods with preservatives, monosodium glutamate (MSG), artificial sweeteners and flavors, nitrites and other proven toxins and carcinogens, microwaved foods, toxins contained in skin care products, shampoos, cosmetics, furniture, carpets, and the air (to name a few sources) all cause cellular and systemic damage.
  • Vaccination – childhood, adult, flu vaccines, etc. Causes direct damage to bacterial flora of the gut and long-term, immune system damage. See my article, "Should I Vaccinate My Child?" for details and scientific references.
  • Emotional Trauma or Abuse – do not underestimate the damaging effects of abusive or traumatic emotional experiences on the body, and the gut in particular. For some of you, this may be damage from your past that was never resolved / healed, and / or ongoing emotional patterns or experiences that continue to degrade your health daily. Remember that 60% of your body's neurotransmitters are in your gut, not your brain! An excellent book on this topic is When The Body Says No by Gabor Mate, MD.
  • Parasites & Pathogenic Microorganisms – if your gut ecology is already weakened or imbalanced, travel to a foreign country or ingestion of tainted food / water can be the 'straw that breaks the camel's back'. If your bacterial flora is already imbalanced with a deficiency of beneficial bacteria, then it's very easy for parasites, yeast, molds, bad bacteria, or fungus to flourish. These pathogens then degrade the health of your intestinal mucosal lining, which can result in ulceration, inflammation, bleeding and consequent damage to your systemic health.

Each of these causative factors – including fewer factors like whether or not you were breastfed, your mother's health while you were in utero, hereditary / genetic weaknesses, heavy metal levels in your body, mercury amalgam fillings in your teeth, pesticide exposure, etc. – will contribute in varying degrees and combinations to your particular pathology. Different people are susceptible to different factors and something that strongly affects your friend adversely, may only mildly affect you adversely. There is seldom just one factor (pathogen) in isolation that causes ulcerative colitis. However, I believe each of us is capable of identifying our own particular pathology, or the causative factors, of our own ill health and then taking the steps that will be particularly healing to each of us.

Once you've identified the underlying root causes of your colitis, you can seek out potent natural remedies to heal each of those causative factors. If infection is the cause of your colitis, then your medical doctor will probably already have put you on antibiotics to wipe out the bad bacteria that are infecting your colon. However, without this was followed by the therapeutic-grade probiotics, then your colon is significantly infected again, plus overrun with yeast (Candida albicans), which flourishes following antibiotic usage.

So in this case, you would need a potent natural antibiotic like wild oregono oil, followed by high dose, the therapeutic-grade probiotics and a low-sugar diet to prevent relapse. You may also need targeted supplements to repair the damage done to your mucosal lining and intestinal wall – like L-glutamine, aloe vera, N-acetyl glucosamine, deglycyrrhizinated licorice, slippery elm, marshmallow root, etc.

Lastly, you need to keep in mind that natural healing is not quick. Since it is healing the actual cause (s) of your colitis (which no doubt took a long time to build up in your body), this healing and balancing will take some time. You know that if you cut your finger open, for example, it will not heal immediately, but takes time to heal. In addition, your body will simultaneously be cleansing and detoxing from pathogens, drug residues, and other toxins, and this also takes time.

But if you really want to 'cure' your colitis – not just suppress the symptoms, or experience short-term remissions – then natural, holistic healing is the pathway to success. Yes. it takes time. This is why I call it a "Healing Journey", but it is so very worth it.

Pay Close Attention To Your Feelings

No matter how good something looks at times, you should pay close attention to your feelings. If it does not feel right, you should walk away from it. Often, we know what to do, but we choose to ignore it. It is the wrong way to go! We should always trust our gut instinct as it never lies to us.

So, why are so many people following the crowd? Are you always doing what others expect of you? Or is there some other purpose for you in life? Are you more concern with how others view you? Or do you pursue your own happiness and dreams?

You see, your gut instinct, your feelings, are much wiser than your head. Most people, when faced with a difficult decision, go to the logical part of their body, their brain, to have the answer. They believe that intelligence comes only from there but in fact, that is not the case.

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.” – Steve Jobs

Feelings – A Powerful Intelligence

Therefore, you must understand that your feelings, what you feel in your heart, and what is your subconscious is the most powerful intelligence in your body. You have to pay close attention to how and what you feel. This intuitive intelligence came into existence way before your brain.

However, even today, many people do not believe it or do not know about it. Yet, your subconscious started to live before your brain ever existed. Through the ages, it got different names like spirit, soul, subconscious, unconscious, superego, or gut feeling.

So, it is what created your body, your brain, and your heart. All of us without exception, even animals, form an emotional brain which is the subconscious mind long before we develop a rational one. And all of this is happening before anything physical occurs.

Feelings Impact You

You have to realize that your heart, your feelings, your gut, your subconscious or whatever you want to call it, dramatically, impact you. It affects how your brain works and not the other way around like many of us believe.

When you look at it, you cannot trust your physical brain one hundred percent of the time. It wants to keep you safe from all possible forms of pain; too safe even. But when you follow your heart, your feelings, your gut instinct, it wants to take you beyond your limitations. It wants to take you where you need to go to achieve your real purpose.

So, living inside your head is not only dangerous, it is somewhat rash and careless!

“When you are in your head, you are dead.” – Tony Robbins

Listen More Often to Your Gut Instinct

It means that you are dead to the wonders you could accomplish in this world. And it makes you also blind to the beauty around you. Your head does not always give you the clarity of decision-making or real peace. As these things genuinely come from following your heart!

So, to get in touch with your feelings, you have to quiet down and listen carefully to what your gut instinct is telling you. That is the way to unlock all of your real potential, peace, and clarity. You have to follow your intuition, hear what your subconscious has to say and act upon it more often.

If you feel like something is right, then follow those feelings. Get out of your head, pay close attention and obey your intuition. You may be surprised by what you might discover along the way. Further down the road, the dots do connect.

Feelings vs. Logic

Sadly, following your intuition to act on a sudden inspiration has such negative beliefs and even a bad reputation in today’s society. We are expected to think with our heads and be practical. And yes, I agree, there are times when it is needed.

But being practical or logical will never lead you to great success, true fulfillment or happiness. You can only get that when you live entirely as your authentic self. So pay close attention to your inner feelings, even if it does not suit those around you.

As a society, we are so conditioned to conform to the world’s standards. It is what discourages us from following our intuition, our feelings, our gut and even our heart. We take the practical road because it is safe, less risky. But when we push away from the desire to act on our dreams, we fall off track, and often off the right one.

Pay Close Attention

Next, you begin to build up stress and tension in your spirit. Then you start to experience wrong states of emotions like feelings of worry, disappointment, and regrets. You miss your path, and for what; so that you can feel safe. Is this the life you want; a life full of predictability?

Of course, predictability and safety have their benefits. But what if the feelings in your heart are calling and you do not pay close attention to it? What if you choose to ignore it? Well, I believe that the consequences may by far outweigh the benefits and you will have regrets later on.

Therefore, follow your gut instinct, and it will lead you to your authentic self. Yet, most people are always so scared of what might happen. They always look at the negative side of things but never reflect on the positive.

Follow Your Feelings

Consider for a moment that you are being pressured by your family to do something you do not want to do. Are you going to follow the crowd and play it safe? Or will you dare to pursue other avenues? The right thing is to do what is good for you despite the difficulties that may follow.

“Your time is limited, so do not waste your time leaving somebody else’s life. Do not be trapped by dogma which is living with the result of other people’s thinking. You should not let the opinions of others drown out your own inner voice.” – Steve Jobs

So, when you take the road unpaved or unapproved, you might feel scared, even rejected. But ask yourself the right questions and be honest with yourself. The most important is to have the courage to listen to your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Believe me when I tell you that everything else is secondary!

Do What You Love and Never Settle

You got to find what you love. And that is as true for work as it is for your relationships. Your job is going to fill a large part of your life. And the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is work you enjoy. If you have not found what you love yet, keep looking and do not settle.

As with all matters of the heart, you will know when you find it. So stay foolish and hungry! If you do not follow your real reason for living, understand that pushing it away will never bring you happiness and peace. And the effects of short-term acceptance by friends, relatives, and society will not bring you the life you want.

Each of us is gifted with talents and skills which you can identify by looking at the things you are passionate about and inspired to do. By turning away from your passions and desires, you deny the divine access to powerful creation that exists inside you.

A Final Word about Feelings

We are all here for a reason, a purpose, and sometimes it does not, at least at first, looks so practical. You must feel it within your heart, through your feelings. Remember: you always have the answers inside of you.

Just listen and follow your gut instinct, your hunches. Do not confuse the voices in your head or around you with the guidance of your much wiser, more powerful intuition which is, in reality, your subconscious. So, pay close attention to your feelings and do not be led astray!

The Different Skin Tightening Procedures

A big disadvantage to getting older is seeing your skin lose its youthful and healthy glow. You will likely get lines and wrinkles, and there will be some sagging and excessive skin. However, this can be delayed if you keep healthy habits of taking care of your skin. For treatment, there are several procedures that can be done for skin tightening. In the past, these are always invasive, time-consuming, and leave scars. Nowadays, there are developments that give you a variety of choices for tightening your skin.

Creams

Most people make the mistake of choosing anti-wrinkle creams based on what they see on TV infomercials. But it is never too late to switch products. Products made from natural raw materials are the best in skin tightening because they do not contain harmful chemicals that can cause side effects and complications. There are skin whitening natural creams that can help improve aging skin and tighten it. Your cream should moisturize the skin. It should help in the body production of elastin and collagen – the proteins that keep the skin fresh and young. Look for grape seed oil, vitamin E, keratin, and other natural materials that can do these to your skin.

Collagen Injections or BOTOX

Collagen injections are done by adding collagen to the fatty tissue to smooth out wrinkles and lines. But this is not the best treatment since the fatty tissue usually thins with age. The skin appears to be firmer, but double chins and sagging skin are not solved. BOTOX, on the other hand, is gaining popularity in the market. It is now a leading skin tightening procedure in the United States because it’s easy, less time-consuming, and not as expensive as surgery. However, it is somewhat more effective than other treatments. Just be sure that you research on the possible side effects or complications of BOTOX before you go for treatment.

Laser

Laser treatment for tightening skin is now a growing trend. The results can be seen immediately after treatment and this is non-invasive. The procedure is done when the laser heats the collagen underneath the skin so that it contracts. A disadvantage of using laser is that multiple treatments may be needed or at least 2. It also does not come cheap. But there are many benefits to the laser procedure. It is not like surgery where you will have scars. It is mostly safe and painless. It takes a little time off your schedule to go for treatment, and the side effects are minuscule.

Diabetes Fatigue: When Managing Diabetes Seems Like Too Much

Diabetes is a chronic disease that will need to be managed over the course of a lifetime. Some patients get "diabetes fatigue" or "diabetes burnout" from the stress of having to manage their diabetes every day.

Type 1 diabetes can be managed with exercise, diet, and insulin injections. Type 2 diabetes can sometimes be managed simply with diet and exercise, although sometimes other medications are recommended. Regardless, it can be difficult to consistently measure and regulate what one eats and how one exercises.

It can be the most difficult to keep your diet under control when you are particularly busy. Then it can seem easier to buy processed and package foods that are less healthy but that can sometimes seem more comfortable. Fitting in workout times in a busy schedule can also seem daunting. Other times that can also make it difficult to manage diet and exercise are the holidays, such as Christmas, when overindulging is encouraged.

Most diabetics will, at some point, experience diabetes fatigue, when they simply no longer want to manage their diabetes. There are some ways to get over this fatigue that will help you maintain your diabetes management program. Managing your blood sugar levels will also help prevent long-term complications. So, if you are feeling down at the prospects of managing your diabetes, consider these hints.

1. Mix it up!

Because exercise is an integral part of managing diabetes, you probably exercise five times a week. If you are tired of swimming lengths, take up cycling. Try doing a different exercise each day a week. If you have an exercise that you love (maybe tennis? Running?), You can do it as many times as you want. If you get bored of doing the same exercise, then try to switch it up to keep your interest.

Keeping a steady blood glucose level does not mean that you have to keep a cycling diet. If you try new foods, you will find new favorite dishes. Take a cooking class to learn how to make curry, or Thai food, or another kind of food that you do not normally eat. Or sometimes treat yourself when you are at the grocery store and buy that exotic fruit that you would not get every time.

2. Use the Buddy System.

Find a friend that you can go and exercise with. This means that you will be getting your exercise in, but you will also have someone to help motivate you. You do not have to have a buddy who is a diabetic, either. You just want someone who is sympathetic to your situation and who wants a good work out.

You might even consider getting a personal trainer to help you with your workouts. If you can not get a trainer, at least you can find a friend who will advise you on how to exercise properly.

3. Pamper yourself.

Take some time to do something that you want to do, and that will make you feel relaxed and happy. Often having high stress levels creates higher blood glucose levels. So head to the spa or get a massage and take a few moments for yourself.

4. Plan your meals … or do not.

You might find it easier to keep to your diet if you have a meal plan that can help you go to the grocery store and get all the ingredients that you need. But if it gets too busy to plan your meals, consider getting the healthy pre-packaged options at the store, such as pre-packaged salads, or pre-skewered kebabs from the deli section.

If you have a craving for desserts, find some desserts with fewer calories and less sugar that you can eat. Oftentimes you can satisfy a craving without having to ruin your diet.

5. Let People Know.

Tell your friends, family, and coworkers about your diabetes. Although they all probably know someone with diabetes, they might not understand how it functions and affects your life. If you help them understand the importance of keeping your blood sugar levels in range, they can help you by making healthy choices when they are with you too.

6. Talk it through.

If you have chronic diabetes burnout, or if you simply feel that you can no longer handle managing your diabetes at all, call a professional. Getting a referral from your doctor can help this expense be covered through your insurance. A counselor can listen to your problems and help you identify the problem spots that you can work on to get through the diabetes fatigue.

7. This too shall pass.

Although right this second it may be hard to deal with your diabetes and the idea of diabetes, most diabetics go through phases. Sometimes diabetes management looks like simple second nature. Other times it looks difficult and forced. Just recognize that feeling upset or depressed about your diabetes is natural, and something that you will be able to get through.

Let's See Some of the Causes of Obesity

What are the causes of obesity? It is fairly simple. Your caloric intake is greater than what your body utilizes for energy. We eat too much and exercise too little. Our genetics also play an important factor but not enough that we should be on the fast track with over forty percent of our population being obese in the next two decades.

That is pretty scary statistics. If we take the time to take care of our body because it is our only one, the future of our world would change. With premature death due to heart disease being the second leading cause in death in the United States, you would think we would wake up. The leading cause of death is deaths related to smoking. Guess what there are a few of us who still smoke.

The important thing is to address the causes of obesity that we can change. We need to live a healthy lifestyle so we can actually enjoy our "golden years." Aging, I have discovered is not for the weak of heart. I personally do not want to live my life where I have railroad tracks from a triple by-pass and this is where our nation is headed.

All we need to do is develop a healthy relationship with food. We need to eat to live and not live to eat. Cut down on your saturated fats. Substituting olive oil for vegetable oil should not be that hard. Steam your food. Always eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Find ways to make your dinner favorites lighter. There are plenty of cookbooks that provide recipes for your favorite foods made lighter without sacrificing the taste. Do not diet, just change your eating habits to encompass more whole grains and vegetables.

Lock of physical activity is also one of the causes of obesity. In order to lose weight, you need to have physical activity. Start off working out 3 times a week aerobically in 20 minute intervals. After three weeks, add another day and 10 more minutes of exercise. After two weeks, add some weight and strength training. You'll start to see results. You may not lose fourteen pounds in two days, but losing one to two pounds a week is healthy and normal.

You may lose more or less depending on your body's metabolism. If you start to plateau, challenge your body. I like to work aerobically for 10 minutes and then lift weights for 5 minutes. I alternate and it works.

Among the causes of obesity is genetics. Genetics are beyond our control, but you are the master of your destiny. It's all about embracing a healthier, smaller you. Following these guidelines will lead you on a path to success of who you want to be.

Difference Between Organic and Natural

Many users of organic products seem to use the terms organic and natural interchangeably. I'm not a stickler for semantics, but those words actually have slightly different meanings.

Natural ingredients have nature as the ingredients' source. They are unaltered, untreated and not artificial. On the other hand, ingredients labeled organic have previously been certified by an organic certification body. This certifying body has ensured that the organic ingredients were cultured without using synthetic fertilizers, pesticides and other synthetic chemicals like plant hormones or livestock feed additives.

In short, an organic ingredient is a natural ingredient but a natural ingredient may not be organic, since it could have been derived from methods that were not certified organic. The problem is that some unscrupulous companies freely label their products as being organic, even without proper certification. This propagates the labeling confusion among consumers.

Even for products certified organic there are three different levels, causing further confusion.

1. "100% organic" label

This is for products composed entirely of certified organic ingredients.

2. "Organic" label

This is for products with at least 95% certified organic ingredients.

3. "Made with organic ingredients" label

This is for products with at least 70% certified organic ingredients.

Products with the above labels can also display the logo of their approval certification body. Products with less than 70% organic ingredients can not display these labels, but can merely mention it in their ingredient statement.

The differences in the organic labels due to the violating organic compositions are apparently subtle, especially to a casual user. In particular the "Made with organic ingredients" label for 70% organic composition, blurs the distinction between organic and natural. This further propagate the confusion between organic and natural products.

Allergies in Children – What Parents Should Know About

Reaction to wind-borne pollens of grasses, trees, and weeds leads to seasonal allergic rhinitis, and reaction to house dust mite allergen, pet dander, or mold spores results in perennial allergic rhinitis. The infiltration of such cells characterizes the allergic inflammatory response associated with late-phase responses and bronchial or nasal hyper-reactivity. Symptoms is include chronic recurrent sneezing, nasal congestion, clear rhinorrhea, and pruritus of the nose, eyes, ears, and soft palate. Usually, allergic symptoms immediately follow (within 20 minutes) exposure to the off ending allergen. Perennial rhinitis allergic, with chronic rather than intermittent exposure to allergen, results in significant chronic nasal congestion, sniffing, and snoring but less sneezing than in seasonal rhinitis (which occurs mainly in the morning on awakening). Associations between exposure and onset of symptoms are often less clear in perennial allergic rhinitis. Often, patients with allergic rhinitis have a personal or family history of asthma or atopic dermatitis. A geographic tongue is also common in atopic patients. Digital clubbing, which occurs in infants with severe chronic lung diseases (CLDs) (eg, cystic fibrosis), does not generally occur in infants with an allergy.

Allergic Evaluation

Specific allergens to which infants are allergic can be identified by (immediate in the clinic lab) skin tests or by in vitro measure of serum allergen-specific. Elevated serum suggests the presence of allergic disease (the clinicians will tell all to parents about results). Several conditions may be confused in differential diagnosis and the treatment must be individualized.

Disease severity varies very, and the clinician will assess its impact on infants or children before embarking on therapy, especially because some children (and parents) with severe allergic rhinitis often prescribe prescribed medical therapy. Treatment modalities include avoidance of allergens, pharmacologic therapy (systemic and topical therapy), and allergen immunotherapy. Antihistamines (H1 antagonists), which are safe and effective medicines for the treatment and prevention of allergic reactions, are particularly useful in controlling the symptoms of sneezing, nasal pruritus, and rhinorrhea. Although diphenhydramine (Benadryl) and hydroxyzine (Atarax) are extremely effective in relieving acute allergic reactions, these should be avoided in infants and children with allergic rhinitis because they are especially sedating. Topical nasal steroids (mometasone [Nasonex], fluticasone [flonase], budesonide [Rhinocort], beclomethasone [Beconase], and ciclesonide [Omnaris]) are the most effective pharmacologic agents for the treatment.

Allergen Immunotherapy

Allergen immunotherapy, which involves the subcutaneous administration of increasing doses of allergen, is highly effective and safe in infants and children with allergic rhinitis in whom specific allergens (inhalant allergens and bee venom) are identified. Because of the cost in terms of time and pain, allergen immunotherapy is generally reserved for children older than 5 to 6 years of age with moderate-to-severe allergic rhinitis.
