All on Four Dental Implants: Complete Oral Rehabilitation for All

All on Four dental implants offer the comprehensive oral rehabilitation solution to patients suffering from tooth loss and who are looking at a future of edentulism (not having any teeth). This ingenious tooth replacement technique was designed by European Implantologist Dr. Paulo Malo and essentially enables dental implantologist to replace a patient’s entire mouth of missing or failing teeth using only four prosthetic implants (hence the name of the technique) and a fixed (non-removable) and fully customized prosthetic dental bridge. While the All on Four teeth implants procedure may sound incredibly simplistic, the advantages it has over traditional tooth replacement and implant techniques has awarded it with ‘breakthrough’ status in the medical fields of dental implantology and oral rehabilitation!

All on Four Dental Implants: Battling Periodontal Disease

In spite of our incredibly advanced technology, medical treatments and the widespread availability and variety of oral hygiene products, more than 26% of Americans will enter into their late adulthood without any of their original adult teeth. This is according to statistics released by the Center for Disease Control, who also claims that approximately 100 million people in the United States are missing between 11 and 15 of their permanent teeth and will eventually require complete oral rehabilitation by the age of 65! So, what is the culprit behind this pervasive problem of tooth loss and the millions of candidates for All on Four dental implants?

Periodontal disease is characterized by a chronic and acute bacterial infection of the soft tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth, in other words, your gums. Poor lifelong oral hygiene, smoking, excessive drinking, drug abuse, serious illness (cancer, HIV/AIDS, diabetes) and even genetics can cause you to become especially vulnerable to periodontal disease. So pervasive is this oral affliction that an estimated 80% of Americans suffer from some form and stage of it! The problem with periodontal disease is that its symptoms can be as innocuous as mild inflammation of the gums with no pain or discomfort. It is for this reason that patients seldom seek treatment from an oral surgeon; however, if left alone, periodontal disease can become acute and result in bone loss in the jaw, tooth decay, gum deterioration and tooth loss!

The Great Paradox Entirely Avoided by All on Four Dental Implants

It is here that a great paradox emerges: The people who suffer from advanced periodontal disease and tooth loss are the ones who most need to receive teeth implants! However, the loss of bone tissue due to bacterial infection means that their jaws just won’t be able to support advanced implants using traditional techniques. This is where the incredible advantages of the All on Four implants step in. Patients who have previously been told that they are not teeth implant candidates are often able to receive a complete set of beautiful new teeth in as little as a single dental appointment! The All on Four implant technique has revolutionized the field of implantology and it is making complete oral rehabilitation possible to people of all ages and stages of periodontal disease and tooth loss!

Bipolar Depression and Treatments Facts

Bipolar Depression is a serious mental illness that is also very treatable. It is a life-long illness. The condition is often marked by intense mood swings. One could go from a low mood (depressed) to a high mood (excited or extremely agitated) multiple times sometimes over a period of days or weeks, and in some cases, it can happen several times in a day. This is often called a mixed mood. Bipolar depression has also been known as Manic Depressive Disorder.

There are a few different types of mood swings that are also called 'episodes'. Depression is a deep sadness that does not go away. The person who is Bipolar may withdraw from family and friends. They may lose interest in activities and things that once enjoyed. They may even lose interest in caring for themselves and eating.

Mania is a mood swing that may begin with a good feeling sort of like a 'high'. It may make someone very irritable and angry. In this phase, one may take unnecessary risks.
The person in this phase could lash out at those around them and must be monitored. This can interfere with their regular lives.

Hypomania is another type of mood swing that is in reality a milder form of mania.
It can make people feel good – like they are getting things done; this phase can switch to mania. The difference with hypomania is that it does not interfere with their family or their jobs. Due to the fact it does not marked show the change, this phase is often missed.

Let's take a look at Bipolar Depression and treatments that are often very effective and helpful. A few might seem a little like something out of the movies but they do really exist.

ECT – Electroconvulsive Therapy is also known as shock therapy. A shock is delivered to the person who causes seizures to occur. It is believed to stimulate the brain and some relief does occur for some. It has some serious after effects such as memory loss and possible movement disorders.

TMS – Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is done by a skilled doctor. The doctor uses a hand-held magnetic coil that has an electrical pulse or pulses shot through it. The coil is then passed over the patients scalp and the charge passes through the scalp and stimulates the brain. This is a new and current experimental procedure. Researchers believe that this procedure has the capability of becoming a very precise procedure.

Medication is also used in the treatment of Bipolar Depression. There are varying classes of medications that have their own unique effect on the brain. Often in treating Bipolar, more than one medication is used depending on the patients needs.

Psychotherapy also known as talk therapy is also beneficial to people with Bipolar Depression. In its various formats it can help the patient to learn to cope better. It may help to relieve some of the internal pressure they feel.

Herbal treatments in the form of specifically blended herbs can also help these patients. Herbal supplements should be of pharmaceutical grade. To be certain they are pure, the metabolic pathways of the ingredients are tested at the molecular. The interaction of the ingredients is also evaluated.

Bipolar Depression is serious but it is not without hope. New and better treatments are coming out all the time. If you or someone you love is Bipolar, get help immediately and be sure to follow the treatment protocol. Create a support system for when you or they are not feeling well. You or they can be very productive and successful.

Type 2 Diabetes and Weight Loss – Tracking Calories Versus Portion Sizes

If you have been around the diet block more than once, you have likely counted calories a day or two in your life. You know one of the requirements of losing weight is taking in fewer calories than you burn off over the course of the day. Therefore tracking calories seems to be the smart thing to do. But for some people, tracking calories is more headache than it is worth. They become overwhelmed by figuring out how many calories are in every food they eat and they never venture into trying new recipes as they feel it is more hassle than it is worth.

So, in these situations, tracking portions proves to be more natural and is often more enjoyable as well.

Here is how to go about tracking portions instead…

1. Know You Are Counting On Averages. First, remember when you are monitoring portion sizes, you are counting on the rule of averages. For instance, if you eat one portion of codfish versus one piece of salmon, both are going to have different total calorie intakes. Because salmon is a fattier fish and therefore contains more calories per ounce, you will take in more calories with salmon.

But, in the end, as long as you eat a varied diet, it will all round out to about the same. So you are banking on the average coming in at right about what you need.

2. Listen To Your Body. Second, make sure you are listening to your body. You want to let your hunger guide you to some degree. Do count those portions, but do not be afraid to use a slightly smaller amount if you are not feeling starving. Perhaps you ate a few more calories last serving and this is now coming into play. By letting hunger dictate your portion sizes to some degree, you will help to prevent eating more than you should.

Likewise, if you are feeling hungrier, let yourself have that extra bit as well. If you are listening to your hunger, once again, this will all balance out.

3. Weigh For The First Two Weeks. Finally, to make using portion sizes easier, you might want to weigh your food for the first few weeks. Really dial in and see if those portion sizes are in fact what you think they are.

Once you do this, you should be better at eyeballing your best serving sizes and will be less likely to slip up and make a mistake somewhere along the way.

Keep these tips in mind as you go about using portion sizes to gauge how much to eat to help you lose weight. If you do not want to count calories, don’t. There are other ways.

The Role of Breakfast in Childhood Obesity

My parents were insistent that we eat breakfast every morning. Usually it was some form of cereal, though on cold days we might have something hot. In our teenage years we lived on a farm and breakfast was necessary to make sure we could get the things we needed to do done.

Don’t Skip It: Even in sleep we burn calories. It is necessary to have some fuel to start the day and breakfast is it. Our children have growth to consider as well. We don’t necessarily need three eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast but a healthy breakfast is important.

Check the Cereal: Not all cereals are good for us. Some of the cereals that we think ought to be aren’t. Look at the sugar and fat content before buying it. Also note that the “with milk” section assumes you are not using 100% milk. You’ll need to calculate that in as well. If it goes over the breakfast budget, you may want to find the kids a new favorite cereal.

This is something you may have to be firm about. My mother did not buy super sweet cereal. The sweetest we had I believe was Raisin Bran. We whined and complained some but she was firm. As a mom and grandmom I understand why.

Waffles Don’t Count: Yes, it is easy to stick two waffles in a toaster, add butter and syrup and call it breakfast. It will raise blood sugar quickly and then it will drop it. This can make the first few classes a child is taking difficult. If waffles are part of breakfast make sure there is enough other stuff to keep sugar levels stable.

Recommended: The first thing I recommend is a talk with a nutritionist. Most doctors and pediatricians can refer you to one and some insurance companies will cover it under preventative care. You can explain your child’s likes and dislikes as well as cultural food issues and work out healthy menus.

Once you’ve done that, set up a calorie budget. Caloriesperhour.com can help. The budget is like a bank. What is done physically is a deposit. What is consumed is a withdrawal. At the end of the day you want to have more calories in the account if you wish to lose weight and a fairly even amount if you’re just maintaining your current rate. For growing children the nutritionist can give you an appropriate calorie budget.

How to Ensure My PDF Document is Not Altered

Compromised document security is a growing problem throughout the Internet. The virtual world can create real-world problems including identity theft and forgery. Corruption of these documents can lead to the release of sensitive information or misinformation that can cause legal troubles for the entity responsible for the document. Because documents are so easy to compromise over the Internet, consumer confidence has fallen in regards to electronic communications.

With the widespread availability of PDF (portable document file), these files become vulnerable to corruption. This is a serious concern, especially for businesses transmitting financial information or public officials exchanging legislative texts. To solve this problem, Adobe has developed a new security system that strives to enhance consumer confidence and reduce liability issues. Certified Document Services (CDS) is a digital signature tool that secures PDFs so that the author can transmit it to one recipient without the fear of alteration or unauthorized view. This certificate is characterized by a blue information bar at the top of the file that provides a brief summary of the certification status.

CDS ensures that the recipient of a document can trust the author of a PDF. CDS requires a digital signature that shows the recipient the origin of the document, and it also shows whether the document has been altered. Without this technology in place, the recipient would only be able to rely on the author’s word that the document is accurate. Because PDFs can often be found in search engines, unsecured PDFs can be altered by anyone who knows enough about Adobe Acrobat. This can lead to falsification of information or the spread of classified information.

The first step in ensuring document security is converting that document to PDF format, if it isn’t already a PDF file. In the PDF, you can edit the security settings for your own purposes – you can lock it entirely, or you can set the PDF to flag any changes that are made to that document. Once the security settings are in place, you can distribute it to only the entities meant to see that document. The certified document will require an e-signature from the recipient to ensure that it is in the right hands.

One success story that Adobe reports is that of Pennsylvania State University, which suffered a rash of transcript falsification by advanced users who were able to embed watermarks and other security implements into counterfeited transcripts. With their prestigious status at stake, the university needed a way to legitimize their electronically-transmitted diplomas to maintain trust in their degrees. Without CDS, the university would have been unable to provide electronic transcript services, and they would have been required to revert to their traditional paper system. The paper transcript system consumed time, money, and manpower – with CDS in place, they were able to more efficiently manage student services and still turn out trusted documents.

To obtain CDS for your own organization, contact Adobe directly and consult with one of their partners to purchase CDS credentials. With CDS security measures in place, your organization can ensure that PDFs will remain secure and unaltered.

Eczema can be of the dry or wet type. It is neither infectious nor heretitary. It is also not caused by any kind of allergy. Actually, no exact cause of Eczema has been found yet. 10 Reasons Causing You Depression and What to Do

You are Neurotic

In simpler terms, you are a worrier. In a gathering, you are most likely to be by yourself, lost in your own thoughts, thinking of what you could have said or done last year, to change your whole situation. You worry about the past, now and future. You probably look at others and try to figure out how they still manage to smile. You want to stop thinking, but just don’t know how to. When you worry constantly, you continue to complicate issues, and still have no solution. Then it becomes an addiction, next thing you know, you begin to question people’s thoughts, their responses and then you being to question your own sanity. You must have heard the saying “worry is useless,” although, it is not entirely useless, as it can be okay to worry over issues. It shows that you are a considerate individual, and are willing to proffer solutions. But have to learn to let go and relax sometimes. Obsessively worrying can lead to depression.

You are a Perfectionist

You see that one crinkle in your cloth while ironing and it irks you so much, till you straighten it out. That one stain on the plate just ticks you off so much you can’t ignore it. You immediately fall out of place if something doesn’t go as planned. You are probably a (DIY) do it yourself kind of person, your touch makes it perfect. You love order so much, that, a second of chaos can leave you distressed. You can sometimes be too hard on yourself, even over trivial matters. While it can be of good advantage to be pedantic, it can lead to a lot of disappointments, because you continue to raise your expectations of things from people, food, environment and your lifestyle.

Pessimistic

Negative patterns of thinking, most times is behind most people’s depression. You find it hard to be optimistic. Immediately a target is set, you instantly think about a million ways it can go wrong. May be you have a good idea, and just as it pops up, you immediately start to think, ‘no one would buy this,’ ‘it is not good enough.’ Can you see link? You are neurotic, perfectionist and maybe pessimistic? Life is riddled with uncertainty and approaching life with such mind frame is not only damaging to the psyche but overall well being. You have to learn to change your line of thought. You can start by reaffirming yourself of how much you need to be positive immediately a negative thought crops up. Try meditating, take time to be alone and try to calm your racing thoughts.

Stressed

You may be under pressure from work, school or from trying to match up with expectations from friends and family. Maybe you are finding it hard juggling work, social and family life. The pressure from all of that can leave one feeling lethargic and dispirited. Here is what you can do. Form a routine and make a habit of following whatever routine you set for yourself. As humans we perform optimally when we set a target of what to do, you can go as far as setting a target for even the next minute and make sure to see it through. Managing stressors properly can prevent a lot of mental chatter.

Irresolute

When it comes to making and taking decisions, you are always pussyfooting. You may be afraid or myopic towards taking that bold step. Every minute of our lives requires that we take action, from waking, bathing, doing chores, up till the stage where we make important live decisions. Being indecisive would make you procrastinate a lot, and that could live you feeling unfulfilled. This could make it harder to get that monkey of your back.

Impatient

Our minds works in ways that wish everything happens in a flick. We can be too eager over situations at times that, when it takes longer than usual to materialize, it breaks us down. You have to first understand that everything follows a process. You didn’t start speaking in a day. It took you several years to become an adult. Everything happens in stages. Snap out of the illusion that things ought to happen as quickly as you want. The universe doesn’t follow your will, and you have no power over how events turn out, you only have control over how it affects you. It is said that good things takes time. Being patient helps you cope with uncertainty better.

Highly sensitive

Are you the kind that is easily offended, feel emotions deeply, feel uncomfortable in large crowds, and quick to assume they are being judged? Then you may be highly sensitive. For highly sensitive persons, handling depression is more delicate, especially with someone who has suffered a trauma. Repressed thoughts of the trauma could bring about grief for the individual. Know that it is okay to let it out, grieving is expected, it lets you heal. Also ensure that you get to the root of the trauma, know what is causing your pain. It is as simple as asking ‘why am I sad?’ or ‘how did I get here?’ Else, you would continuously grieve and forget to heal.

Desires

Sometimes, it’s the picture of how perfect it should be, where we should be, that causes us pain. As humans, we are target driven and fill satisfied only when our long held dreams are accomplished. But sometimes, we have and hold very unrealistic expectations and make ourselves gloomy. For example, wanting to own the latest Lamborghini Murciélago, and your income cannot even afford a scooter. Then you begin sulking over your inability to buy the Lamborghini. You want to cut your coat according to your size and stop longing for things beyond your reach. Just try to appreciate the little things, and remain content with what you have.

Non-Spiritual

You may not be spiritually inclined, given that you are tired of waiting to be rescued by a deity in that dire period of hurt. But a belief in a supreme being can be the saving grace in this kind of period. Each individual operates on different belief systems. I daresay we are nothing without some form of belief. Some find succour in believing a supreme being in times of need, and psychologically it has been proven to be a very useful coping mechanism in dealing with depression. Reconnect with your spiritual side, spark that fire, pray and be animated again.

Cherophobic

Overtime you may have conditioned yourself to be averse to things that make you happy. This could be as a result of not wanting to face rejection or disappointment again. So you have adapted well to that murky lifestyle and accepted the dismal state as the status quo. Therefore, you don’t expect anything to cheer you up. As a matter of fact, you are petrified of being happy. Make conscious effort to change your pattern of thinking. If possible change the environment you live in and the activities that you do. Also try as much as possible to reminisce the good times and reflect on it, remember you weren’t always like this. This will help adjust that unhealthy mind frame and help imbibe positive thoughts.

It is also advisable to seek medical help while dealing with depression. You may consider seeing a psychologist and attend therapy sessions. Cognitive behavioral therapy CBT also is a good treatment for depression. Never feel ashamed to seek help. You deserve all the happiness in the world.

The Truth About Fears and Phobias Revealed

Fears are a natural part of life and are designed to protect us from hurt and pain. If, for example, you have an experience of almost drowning in the ocean, your mind may cause you to be afraid of ever going into a body of water again. The chances of you having the same traumatic experience in the water again is minute, but the protection mechanism in your mind does not want to take chances. Your subconscious mind is now programmed to avoid that situation and the pain and hurt associated with it. So, now, almost any body of water will be associated with the incident and fear will set in to avoid having the pain and another bad experience.

Let's take another type of situation. Let's say you had been in a relationship in which your significant other cheated on you. Perhaps he / she would announce that they were "going to meet a friend for drinks" and you later discovered that it was during each of those times that they were unfaithful to you. Since the subconscious mind is always looking for meaning and creates meaning through association, it simply links these two things, "going to meet a friend for drinks" now equals "Cheating". How do you know if you have made this association? The next time you find yourself in a relationship and your partner announces that he / she is "Going to meet a friend for drinks," notice what happens. You get this feeling in your body, maybe a tenseness in your muscles and a sick feeling in your stomach. Your mind immediately starts playing out the scenario in the form of a future memory, as if it's already experienced the infidelity by this new person, too. What is happening is your subconscious mind is automatically alerting you that it believes that there is trouble. The problem is, there may not be any trouble at all. This is a different person. A different time. Possibly a different environment. But, one of the jobs of the subconscious mind is to keep us away from pain so that we can emotionally and physically survive. That announcement about the drinks will be just as powerful to you as the sight of the ocean would be to someone who had experienced something negative in the ocean. Right or wrong, the association and belief is there, and there very strongly!

Is this a good or bad thing? It depends. Thank goodness our minds have this capability to help us steer clear of danger, so we do not get hurt twice. On the other hand, many times the programming becomes a problem. It can cause us to unconsciously ruin a good relationship or keep us from enjoying something that is pleasurable. The ocean does not always mean trouble. Going out for drinks does not always mean cheating. But until we change the programming, we will avoid people and situations in which our subconscious minds have labeled, "Warning – Danger Ahead!"

This is where hypnosis will help. I have seen many cases of people afraid of things that they do not want to be afraid of. And, I have been extremely successful in eliminating those fears. What I do is easy, simple, and straightforward. By disconnecting the negative association and then creating a positive association to the event that used to be painful or frightening, a new neural pathway is created in the subconscious mind. This overrides the debilitating programming, leaving you in a confident, powerful, fearless position. Imagine changing to a life without the fears, doubts, and worries you may now have!

They will sometimes use huge measures keeping the problem hidden from other people, which only boosts their anxiety as they begin keeping track of every scenario and situation.

Maybe your brother is afraid to contact you over the telephone. Maybe your daughter is not speaking up in class because she is afraid of criticism. Or your mom may be afraid of driving on the freeway due to all the anxiety it causes her.

For most people, these sorts of scenes are straightforward enough, but to those going through panic attacks, these turn into giant orders that will cause sweating, a racing heart rate, trouble breathing, and perhaps even fainting and full-blown panic attacks.

Specify some rules with the friend or family member. For example, if you find out they end up getting uncomfortable in crowds of people, do not recommend going to lunch in a popular restaurant. This will put them on the spot and have them feel distracted. Then again, in case you have agreed to make an effort to assist them with their recovery, you can recommend visiting a crowded diner and offer to be there for support when they face their phobias.

Another terrific strategy to help him or her might be to invite them to attend a yoga or meditation training course which you may be taking. These classes can teach people who have anxiety disorders tips on how to better manage their emotions and allow them to remain comfortable when they're placed in a demanding predicament.

Hopefully you now have a great broad understanding of how to help someone with panic attacks. No matter how you are trying to help, it is totally vital that you first and foremost be encouraging and compassionate toward your friend's predicament. Do not be critical or neglectful of it. Panic attacks can be a quite terrifying thing to have, but with your assistance and support, your friend will be more sure to get well swiftly.

Are You a Victim of Anxiety and Stress?

Any situation that makes you feel angry, frustrated, or anxious will create stress. Since these are all emotional states, every individual will have a unique response to each situation. What gives you stress might have no effect on the next person. Anxiety is the emotional response to anything that creates fear or apprehension. Sometimes the cause of this fear is not identifiable and this increases the stress levels. Stress is actually a system booster as it causes people to face challenges and become more productive. However, that is only true when stress is supplied in low quantities. The body and mind can only handle so much and that is why excessive or consistent stress or a strong reaction to high stress is not good.

Constant stress will lead to anxiety disorders that often cause the person to resort to alcohol or other drugs that in turn lead to physical and psychological disorders like depression, heart disease, hypertension, and so on. Sometimes stress is also caused by other physical disorders like thyroid gland malfunction, low blood sugar, cardiac arrest and so on. Psychological conditions of depression and grief also increase stress. Anxiety and stress are interrelated. Each will magnify the other endlessly until something is done to break the cycle.

When anxiety and stress hit a certain level their effects will begin manifesting as physical symptoms of something going “wrong” with the body. During a panic attack the victim will exhibit symptoms like headaches, muscle tension, twitching, sweating, nausea, abdominal pains, palpitations, dizziness, hyperventilation, insomnia, and fatigue. Note that all these symptoms will not show up together or in every attack. Anxiety disorders are classified as psychiatric conditions like general anxiety disorder, phobias, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Certain prescription and recreational drugs also increase anxiety and stress either as side effects or as withdrawal symptoms. These include caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, decongestants, cold medicines, antidepressants, amphetamines, cocaine, diet pills, and thyroid medications.

Diets that are not providing the body with minimum quantity of essential nutrients will also elevate anxiety and stress. Deficiency in magnesium, calcium, and vitamin B-12 all contributes to anxiety and stress.

Performance anxiety is associated to some situations like job interviews, major examinations, or any kind of activity where results are very important and confidence is lacking. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) occurs when the individual goes through a personal (assault, near death experience) or general trauma (like war or some natural disaster).

In order to lower anxiety and stress it is first important to identify the exact source that is contributing to their development. However, this is not so easy because in most cases there is no identifiable cause. A good way is to quiz yourself on your daily habits in the following manner.

* Are you always worrying? If yes, then what about? List all possible answers.

* Are you a compulsive thinker? Do you ever relax mentally? What do you think about?

* Is there anything (place, person, climate, situation) that always makes you feel depressed or sad?

Most of the time an open discussion with a trusted friend or relative will provide relief from anxiety and stress.

Combine that with a good diet, an exercise plan, regular hours, and meditation and relaxation techniques for complete freedom from anxiety and stress.

Combine baking soda and castor oil, which is easily found in any kitchen cabinet. This technique may be a little messy, but it will not cause you any pain. Form a paste with both items and then apply it frequently to the affected area over a two week time span. This helps to eliminate the skin tag.

Derma Trend is a product that you can use to kill and remove the skin tag within a three day period, restoring your skin to its original condition – with fewer blemishes.

Apply apple cider vinegar to the affected area. Regular application of the apple cider vinegar for three weeks will give you the best results.

Nail polish is also an effective home-made remedy for eliminating skin tags. Put the nail polish on the area that is affected. Do so for approximately three weeks continuously. The tag will slowly die and become detached from the skin.

Vaseline applied to the area will suffocate the tags and they will automatically fall off of the infected skin.

Dermisil is a type of topical herbal treatment that you can use. It attacks the affected area and gets rid of the loose skin.

Conclusion
If you are still having trouble, schedule a doctor's visit to have it removed. This unwarranted skin cell growth on one area of your skin does not represent any worry for serious disease or damage to your health. However, because they are aesthetically unpleasantly to look at, your desire to remove them is understood, but be sure to have them done safely.

Ingrown Toenail Remedies

People looking for ingrown toenail remedies are in almost all circumstances dealing with the discomfort that comes from an ingrown toenail and the pain that can vary depending on the severity of the issue and how early the problem is caught.

In most instances when searching for ingrown toenail remedies individuals suffering from the potentially debilitating problem are trying to avoid having to go see a podiatrist (foot doctor) because of the cost, time commitment, and in many instances fear or embarrassment of going to see a doctor over a foot issue.

Popular ingrown toenail remedies that have worked with varying degrees of success based on the unique circumstances of each individual include:

  • Placing a small piece of cotton between the toenail and the part of the toe where the problem is occurring. This means inserting a small piece of cotton, usually taken from a cotton ball, in the upper corner of the nail where the contact is made between the ingrown nail and the inflated portion of the toe. The cotton serves as a buffer to offer relief from the constant puncturing created as the nail grows into the skin on the toe.
  • Place the affected toe (s) in warm to hot water for about 15 minutes a day for a minimum of twice a week. Practicing this three or four times a week is more optimal and if favorable results are seen stepping this up to a daily habit may be worthwhile. What most people choose to do is to fill a bathtub a few inches with hot water and then simply place the foot with the ingrown toenail problem in the tub. This strategy is not particularly effective as a standard treatment if the condition has passed a certain level of severity but if used early on or in conjunction with other methods can be quite effective at relieving pain and working ones way to recovery.
  • Find a topical solution specifically made for eliminating this particular pain at a local pharmacy or drug store engineered for solving ingrown toenail pain. Most drug stores have sections of aisles set aside specifically for foot care which can range from warts to ingrown toenail issues. Do not be embarrassed to speak to someone who works in the store about your problem so that they can help you find exactly what you need.
  • CAUTION: The cure for more permanently correcting an ingrown toenail involves cutting out the problem nail area and then going forward clipping toenails in a straight across manner (unlike fingernails which are cut in a curved manner). Before fooling around with the trouble area make sure that whatever tool or instrument you are using (most likely a pair of finger or toenail clippers or the file from the back of the clippers) is properly cleaned and sterilized with soap and very hot water. The last thing that you want to do is to cause more harm than good by introducing an infection into the area.

Learning Math is Difficult For Many People – Knowing Why Can Make Mathematics Easy and a Lot of Fun

Mathematics is a language, but it can not be learned the same way most languages are learned. Mathematical principles and concepts must be learned in a specific order. Much like the way we learned to walk. When we were learning to walk we found that we had to crawl first, if we went too fast and tried to stand or walk before we were ready we fell and got a boo boo. The same is true for math, except if we jump ahead of our selves or miss something along the way, we do not fall and get a boo boo, we begin to believe that we are just no good at it.

To prove my point about the need to learn mathematical concepts and principles in a particular order, most City Colleges around America have elementary to high school level math classes that are offered to students that do not have the required college level skills in mathematics needed to enter the college system. So the problem is real and recognized by Authoritative Institutions. Mathematical concepts need to be learned in a particular order no matter how intelligent you are. Trying to become proficient in mathematics by learning random bits and pieces will be very difficult if not impossible. Each level in mathematics requires a working knowledge of all the prier levels.

Because Mathematics is a language, you also need to immerse yourself in solving math problems to become proficient. Doing this is a lot easier these days with the aid of the Internet and calculators that do symbolic manipulation. Spending at least one to four hours a day working math problems, everyday, will develop and reinforce the skills needed to become proficient in math. Why so much time? To build, what I like to call, brain circuits.

Solving a problem requires a number of steps to be taken by the brain. Simply put, to solve "1 + 1 = 2" the brain needs to look at each character and then calculate what actions to take. If this is the first time trying to resolve this type of equation the brain has not connected up the wires or developed the circuits yet, it resorts back to circuits it has used in the past when trying to do new things. Try writing with your other hand. Most will find it very difficult. That's because the brain has not developed the circuits yet to perform the task. As the brain creates and hard-wires the correct circuits used to solve the mathematical problems your working on your mathematical abilities will grow, and as a side benefit, those same circuits will assist in other brain functions. But like everything in nature, the brain is very conservative.

The brain is not going to create and hook up circuits unless there is a real need for them. You need to let the brain know you mean business. The way you do this is by forcing the brain to work on math problems. The brain does not like change, so it will produce chemicals that will make this uncomfortable for you. You must fight back and continue. Soon the brain's own need to be conservative will require it to build the circuits needed to more efficiently solve these problems. Result, you get better. And if you do things right and stick with it, the brain will become proud of these new circuits it has built and begin to produce chemical that will make you feel real good. In the beginning it will be hard, but after a bit you'll enjoy the brains reward. Video game developers have learned how to trigger these chemical in the brain via their software. That's why kids will spend hours, even days, in front of a monitor pushing buttons on a game pad.

Building circuits in the brain takes a lot of hard work and time. It took all of us years to learn to walk, talk, write, and perform many other abilities we take for granted. We learned most of these abilities when we were very young. It was called play time. It was fun, exiting and we could not wait to get started. We also had many examples to draw from, people were walking, talking and doing things that helped us see how others performed these tasks we were trying to do. Not true with math. There's the math book from school, well people with the IQ of a thousand do not seem to have a problem with it so who am I to complain?

We learn best by example. Here's the dilemma, there are not too many TV shows dedicated to mathematical problem solving. There are not even too many math courses dedicated to mathematical problem solving. There's a teacher going at the speed of light spewing out concepts and principles while you try to listen and write at the same time. That's not the best learning environment for mathematics. Thank God math is so easy or we'd be in trouble. Maybe it's not you, you may have the makings of a brilliant mathematician, but have never been in a suitable situation to learn.

Solution, look at the answers to as many problem as possible and see how those answers were found. Use the Internet to study ahead of your class, so you'll know whats being talked about when your instructor buzzes by at the speed of light with new concepts and principles. Remember, one missed item, principle or concept and you will not be prepared for the next level. It's very possible that your very good at math, it may be that the tools and road map to learn are missing.

Most problems encountered in learning upper level math come from not fully understanding elementary math. Algebra requires proficiency in elementary math, calculus requires proficiency in both elementary math and algebra. Most kids in elementary school can not see the importance of math, so they lack the effort. Kid in high school does not have time for math, so they do the minimum to get by. Then these young men and women, now ready to enter college, feel they are just no good at math, so they opt for other majors. Has a future Einstein been lost to this chain of events.

Take all this into account when learning math and you will find that mathematics is easy and fun. You may have to start at the beginning to find those concepts or principles you missed but you'll find it pays off as you develop those mathematical skills with easy. But be careful, once you start discovering new things in the universe with your newly developed mathematical skills the brain chemical rewards you will receive can become very addictive.

The Truth About Organic Baby Products – Part 1 of 2

This two part article will cover what key chemicals you should avoid for your baby and why you should buy organic baby products. The second part of the article will focus on tips for buying the correct and safest organic baby products.

Unfortunately baby care products such as shampoos, lotions and powders are classified under cosmetics' regulations and the FDA is not necessarily required to test their safety. Consequently when purchasing your organic baby products the sole way to be certain a product will not have unsafe compounds is that it is certified organic, and even unhealthy, to be certified organic to food standards. It is fundamental to realize that infants and children are very unguarded to the dangerous effects of these chemicals because their bodies, organs and brains are still in development and growing. You need to be informed about how certain ingredients cause harm, how to interpret labels to avoids hazardous toxins and what are the good substances.

Major toxins to avoid

• Phthlates: phthlates have been known to disrupt the reproductive and endocrine systems, more so in young bodies and the flourishing rates of male infertility are thought to be linked to phthalate influence.

There has been a lot about Phthalates in the news but but you were aware that they are contained in almost all baby care products like lotions and shampoos? Places such as Canada and Europe are taking action, earlier this year Australia banned the use of products with more than 1% phthalate, however I do not think this action was taken on bath and skin products. They are still trying to convince us they are safe. They are not. In a related vein to Australia, California passed a law to ban 6 type of phthalates in toys and bottles but also products like bath and skin care products have not been placed under the law. Companies are not required to fully disclose ingredients on the label, so there is there is no way to know if they are phthalate free unless you buy certified organic baby products.

Research conducted from late from the University of Washington found that children were not just being exposed through formula, bottles and chewing toys but were also absorbing phthalates through the skin when it was applied directly to the skin. Urine testing was used in 163 children aged 2-28 months and it was concluded that over 80 percent of these infants had over 7 types of phthalate in their urine. The amount of phthalates found was directly related to frequency of baths and lotion use. What was terrifying is that baby shampoo had been used on more than half of the tested infusions within 24 hours of the urine testing. Thirty percent had lotions applied and 14% had had powder used. These babies had four times the level of phthalates in their urine than those infections which parents had not used those particular products on them.

The manufacturers rebut these research claims by expressing the only phthalates used in baby products is called DEP, which apparently has been proved safe. So why then could 7 or more different types be found in the testing? Yes, infants are exposed by many means, but the fact remains that all phthalates were significantly increased in infections which parents had done nothing else except except use lotions, shampoos and powders. This shows a consistently suggestion that the increased phthalates came from these particular products. Remember full ingredient disclosure is not required, so you really do not know exactly what manufacturers are placing in these products.

Cancer causing agents or Carcinogens. The Environmental Protection Agency has found through a review of 23 peer-reviewed studies of cancer over the last 50 years that infants up to the age of two years are 10 times more susceptible to carcingenic chemicals that an adult, and in some instances they are 65 times more susceptible for some cancer causing chemicals. Between the ages of 2-15 years children are three times more susceptible to carcinogens than adults. They reason by stating children accumulate up to fifty percent of their lifetime cancer probability by the age of two. Here are just a few ingredients noted or suspected to cause cancer: Ammonium laureth sulphate, Alkyl-phenol-ethoxylades, Cocamide (and cocomide) DEA , FDC- (FD & C) Colors, Benzene, Glycols – Propylene glycol, Ethylene glycol, Diethylene glycol and carbitol.

Fragrances are known to contain up to 4000 separate ingredients, with just about all of those being synthetic. These synthetical fragrances can result in headache, dizzy spells, rashes, skin disorders, coughing and vomiting, skin reactions and asthma. Their effects on the central nervous system can cause hyperactivity, depression, irritability, inability to cope and some other behavioral changes.
