Ginger and its Fat Burning Benefits

To enhance the body's metabolism, dieters can easily add ginger to common recipes and favorite foods. When consumed, Ginger actually expands the body's blood vessels while boosting the body's overall heat and temperature. This process is called a "thermogenic" process, which describes the body's ability to burn off stored body fat in order to enhance energy levels and weight loss. As this thermogenic process takes place, the body's metabolism is boosted, allowing dieters to burn fat, eliminate consumed foods, and utilize calories more quickly, efficiently, and effectively.

Adding to this, International Journal of Obesity, also supports the power of Ginger; according to their report, researchers discovered that Ginger forced the body's tissues to utilize more energy than they normally would expend, which potentially also leads to the metabolic, thermogenic, and fat burning results. Also, in addition to fat burning benefits, Ginger and its thermogenic stimulation also helps to detoxify the body, while it simultaneously boosts the body's circulation.

Due to these benefits, many popular cruise ship chefs have started increasing their use of Ginger in foods and recipes.
  • Ginger also works as a natural meat preservative and tenderizer. This ingredient, when added to meat, improves the tendency of the food as Ginger breaks down the proteins in meats. Additionally, as Ginger kills some forms of bacteria while working as a conservative, some studies even show that, when in a test tube, Ginger was able to effectively kill off and destroy Salmonella bacteria.

  • Add Ginger to beverages; for example, when drinking cocktails, try fighting the calories of alcohol by ordering a drink with Ginger Ale, and add some natural Ginger for an added boost.

Digital Camcorder Media Types Explained

For a long time, digital camcorders have been limited in all sorts of ways by the fact that they have to use removable media. The camcorder has to be big enough that the media can fit inside, you have to buy the media and remember to carry it around with you, and you can only film as much as can fit on your media. Now, though, these restrictions are fading away: we’re entering the era of the tapeless camcorder.

What do I mean by ‘tapeless’? Well, basically, I’m talking about hard disk camcorders. These are digital camcorders that work the same way as your iPod or Tivo – they have a hard disk drive inside to store the data on. Modern video compression combined with the ever-increasing capacity and ever-declining physical size of hard disks has finally made them practical for these kinds of portable uses. The massive success of the iPod has forced down the price of portable hard disks, and digital camcorders are the next thing to benefit.

Using a hard disk camcorder is just so much easier. All you need to do is charge it up, point it at what you want to film, and switch it on. They’ll film for hours and hours before they get full – generally around 50 hours, but you can get more if you want. When you’re done, just plug it into a computer (or use a Bluetooth wireless connection), save the movie to the hard drive, and you’re ready to go again.

Of course, hard disk camcorders are also much smaller than other digital cams, and can be almost any shape their designer feels like, which generally servers to make them much nicer to hold and use. If you’re not sure what to get, I can recommend the JVC Everio line as the original and still so far the best, but it’s still early in this market yet.

Sore Member After Intimacy? 6 Things You Can Do Now to Relieve the Pain

While a marathon romantic session may give a man bragging rights with his buddies, a sore member after intimacy can present a major problem. The dull ache, discomfort, irritation, and plain old manhood pain can be a lot to deal with. While a visit to the ER or the doctor is not needed, a solution (or two) for getting back in the swing of things is definitely called for. Here are a few simple, at-home remedies for dealing with a sore member after intelligence.

1) Time Out! This first and best tip to treat a sore member after extra play is give it some rest! It's not the most popular answer (by far), but it is the most logical. Take a time-out from all sensual activity, both with a partner and solo, for at least 24 hours. While some people will say quickies are okay, it's best just to take a temporary break. Giving a sore manhood a day or two off will not only take away the soreness but also re-sensitize the organ.

2) Enjoy a Leisurely Bath … or Two – While showers are more typical for adult men, nothing beats a bath when a sore manhood is present . Not only does it help the entire body relax, but the warm water flowing around the manhood can relax the overworked blood vessels that were called upon to make it firm. Be sure to use warm water for the bath, not too hot – manhood skin is very sensitive, and hot water can make things worse. Stay in the bath as long as is comfortable; at least 20 minutes is recommended for the warmth to take effect.

3) Cool Compress – Use a soft washcloth soaked in cool water to relive a sore member after intimate, especially if the manhood feels excessively hot. Simply rinse out the washcloth and set it on the bare skin. Do not use ice or ice packs, as they can damage the delicate tissue.

4) Swaddle the Manhood – Swaddles are wonderful for restricting motion and putting the manhood in a restful state. Simply use a soft towel or scarf and wrap it around the manhood. This also guards the sore manhood much in the same way the bath does. Most men find this very relaxing for a sore manhood.

5) Go Bare – Remove the possibility of irritation or chafing an already-sore manhood by going bare around the house as long as possible. This airs out the area, helping it return to its normal temperature.

6) Use a Man Crème – After a warm shower or bath, use a specially formulated male organ health crème (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which has been clinically proven safe and mild for skin) to promote healing and soothing. Nutrient-rich cremes designed expressly for the manhood should start with an all-natural base like Shea butter for the ultimate moisturizing experience. Look for cremes with special ingredients like L-Carnitine to prevent nerve damage from excess friction from rigorous sensual activity and preserve sensitivity and well-being. The addition of vitamins like vitamin C also aids in collagen production. This benefits the skin by increasing skin elasticity, especially after a lot of use. The right crème can make a big difference when finding relief from a sore manhood.

Various Non Operative Treatment Option for Your Hemorrhoid

There are many hemorrhoid treatments available for you. So to know the best treatment for your hemorrhoid, you need to know about the type of hemorrhoid, because treatment of hemorrhoid is divided by the cause of symptoms into internal and external treatments. Internal hemorrhoids do not have cutaneous innervation that’s why it’s painless, except when it incarcerated and strangulated, and can be destroyed without anesthetic. It has 4 stages, classified by symptoms. For stage 1 bleeding is the only symptoms, stage 2 it can prolaps with straining but it will return to their resting point by itself, in stage 3 you will find that you will need a manual effort to put it back into the acal canal, and at stage 4 it’s constantly outside so it will not return to the canal. External hemorrhoids involve the veins outside the anus and it affect the skin that innervated so it can be itchy or painful and can sometimes crack and bleed. For the first line treatment you can use a conservative therapy but if it doesn’t have any respond then you should considered the non-operative treatment such as rubber band ligation, sclerotherapy injection, heat coagulation, carbon dioxide freezing, Lord dilatation.

Sclerotherapy injection is a procedure for treating small, internal, first or second degree hemorrhoids. This procedure using a liquid chemical (phenol or quinine urea) injected into the base of the hemorrhoid. This will finally move into the blood vessel area and discontinue the blood supply that is moving to the hemorrhoid, this process will caused it harder and die end with the hemorrhoid comes off. The hemorrhoids symptoms will return after a few year and may need further treatment.

Rubber band ligation can be used with first, second, and third degree internal hemorrhoids and more effective than sclerotherapy. It will encircle the base of the hemorrhoidal anal cushion with a tight rubber band until the tissue cutt off.

Heat coagulation used for first, second, and third degree hemorrhoids. This procedure will kill the tissues in and around the hemorrhoids and cause a scar tissue to occur. There are certain treatment that use heat to kill the hemorrhoidal tissue and promote inflammation and scaring such as bipolar diathermy, direct-current electrotherapy, and infrared photocoagulation.

Cryotherapy use a cold temperature to obliterate the vein and make inflammation and scaring. This procedure is less effective and not commonly used.

Lord dilatation is rarely used because it can caused an uncontrolled disruption of the sphincter mechanism. This technique, also known as anal stretch will stretching out your anal walls to the point where eight fingers are inserted after the stretching is achieved, a sponge is inserted to prevent damage to the area. The goal of this procedure is to relieve constriction of the area.

Handling Teenage Depression

People more commonly associate depression with adults rather than with the younger generation. Recent studies, however, show alarming statistics on teenage suicide as a result of depression: Suicide is the eighth leading cause of death for all persons regardless of age, sex or race; the third leading cause of death for young people aged 15 to 24; and the fourth leading cause of death for persons between the ages of 10 and 14. Depression now occurs in about 5% of adolescents at any given point in time and often without parents even knowing about it. According to a recent survey of high school students, teens (60%) often think about killing themselves and some (9%) say they have made an attempt at least once. In the past three decades, teen suicide worldwide has risen up to 300%.

What is teenage depression like and when should parents be concerned?

While it is normal for everyone, not just teenagers, to feel the ‘blues’ occasionally, depression becomes an illness when the feelings of dejection, hopelessness, and despair persist and interfere with a person’s ability to function. Depression is often accompanied by feelings of helplessness, being overwhelmed by circumstances, withdrawal and isolation. People suffering from depression are often prone to lethargy, overeating or loss of appetite, worry, moodiness, withdrawal from family and friends, and lapse into inactivity.

What causes teenage depression?

Depression can be caused by any single or combination of biological, psychological and social factors.

Biological factors that play a role in depression include infections, endocrinal problems, hormonal imbalances, hypoglycemia, exposure to toxic substances, improper diet, anemia, and even certain medications. Psychological causes involve elements that predispose people to become depressed as a result of their unhealthy self-esteem and negative attitude towards others, the world around them, and the future. Pressures in life are also often at the root of depression problems, among them failure, frustration, and experiences of loss (death of a loved one, divorce, relocation, break-up with steady girl/boyfriend, etc.).

How can I deal with depression?

Aside from seeking professional/medical help, there are a number of simple but effective things that could relieve your persistent “blues”:

Pray consistently to God. If you must have a really good cry, cry to God–He listens and cares. He promises to deal with your problems if you bring them to Him. Reading the Bible will be a great help–not only does it provide solid comfort but also practical wisdom for your issues. (1Pe 5:7; Php 4:6,7; Isa 41:10; Je 29:11-13; Heb 4:15,16)

Don’t keep it to yourself. Telling someone you trust or respect about the problem is usually helpful. Reach out to others–studies show depressed people tend to feel less sorry for themselves when they comfort others who suffer from grief and tragedy. (Pr 12:25; 17:17)

Steer clear from idleness–an idle mind is fertile ground for depressing thoughts. Being busy and active are good antidotes to gloominess and divert one from entertaining negative thinking.

Win the battle of the mind. If your depression stems from seeking others’ approval for your happiness, consider that it is not healthy to always leave it up to them to measure your sense of worth. If the problem lies in sin or guilt, remember that God’s forgiveness is always readily available to those who sincerely ask for it; but do not forget to do what it takes to get your life right with God . If the source of depression is failure, examine your goals and set realistic ones, asking God to help you achieve them. Accept the fact that disappointments are a part of life. Choose to ‘get over it’ rather than feeling stranded in hopelessness and uselessness. Surround yourself with positive things and positive people. (Isa 1:18; Pr 28:13; Ps 103:8-14; Php 4:8-9; 1Jn 1:9)

Eat sensibly and get enough sleep.

Exercise to perk up your mood. It increases the neurotransmitter serotonin (happy chemicals), the levels of which are significantly low in depressed people.

Use humor. Laughter also induces the production of ‘happy chemicals’ in the body and promotes overall wellbeing.

Avoid smoking, alcohol, marijuana and sedatives generally. While these seem to make things better in the short-term, they could adversely affect your health and make depression worse. Drugs and medicines are best administered with the doctor’s guidance.

Agoraphobia and Panic Attacks

There is phobia that is linked to the experience of panic attacks, and that is agoraphobia. Agoraphobia is the fear of open spaces or of being in crowded, public places such as shopping markets. It is a fear associated with leaving a safe zone, such as the home.

Because of a feeling of being vulnerable, people who experience this fear often suffer from panic attacks in these "open" situations. It is true to say many people who have regular panic attacks experience different degrees of agoraphobia. Some have a lingering background anxiety about being away from home should they experience a panic attack. Other people are so immobilized by this fear that they find it very difficult to leave their home for even a short period.

The thinking behind agoraphobia usually follows the line that were a panic attack to occur, who would look after the person, how would he or she get the assistance and reassurance they needed? The vulnerability grows from the feeling that once victims of agoraphobia are treated in the anxiety, they are suddenly unable to look after themselves and are therefore at the mercy of the place they find themselves in and the strangers around them. In its extreme form, agoraphobia and panic attacks can lead to a situation where people become housebound for numerous years. Please note, this is by no means a hopeless situation, and I always need to reinforce the fact that something only becomes hopeless once the person really believes that to be the case.

Agoraphobia and Panic Attacks to begin with, the primary issue that needs to be addressed is the belief in the safe zone. To clarify, when I talk about safe zone, I am referring to the zone where the person believes panic attacks do not occur, or at least occur infrequently. As comfort is found there, it is where the person tends to spend more and more time. The safe zone of anxiety is a myth sustained by the mind. The mind has developed a habit of thinking that dictates that being inside the safe zone is the only place to feel secure and avoid agoraphobia and panic attacks. If agoraphobia is an issue for you, watch as your mind comes up with reasons why it believes only a certain area is safe and another is not. Those reasons range from being near the phone or people you trust to having familiar physical surroundings to reassure you.

The reality of anxiety is that there is no such thing as a safe zone. There is nothing life threatening about a panic attack, and therefore sitting at home is the same as sitting under the stars on a desert island. Of course, your mind will immediately rush to tell you that a desert island is a ridiculous place to be as there are no hospitals, no tranquillisers, no doctors, NO SAFETY.

You need to review your previous experiences of panic attacks. Are not you still here, alive and well, after all those attacks during which you were convinced you were going to die?

It may be that on occasions you have been driven to the hospital where they did medicate you to calm you down, but do you really believe that you would not have survived were it for the drugs? You would have. If the same bout of anxiety had occurred on this desert island, it too would have passed, even if you were all alone. Yes, when it comes to conditions that need medical attention such as asthma, diabetes, and a whole litany or other conditions, then having medical aid nearby is a big asset, but no doctor in the world would tell someone with anxiety that there are only specific safe zones in which she or he can move.

As I know more than anyone how terrifying it can feel to move out of your safe zone as the feeling of fear is welling up inside, I do not wish to sound harsh. This course is not about chastising people for their behaviors. It is a way of looking together at solutions and seeing through the myths that form prison walls. The goal is to enable you to return to a richer and more meaningful life and extremely defeat your agoraphobia and panic attacks. I also realize that people around you can not understand why a trip to shops would cause you such discomfort. You will have to forgive them and try not to be upset by their lack of understanding of your problem.

If an individual such as a partner or family member has not had a similar anxiety issue, that person may often find it hard to understand and empathize with what you are going through. I am sure you have been dragged out of the house numerous times against your will, kicking and screaming. This can then lead to tensions and arguments and is upsetting as it can make you feel less understood by those around you. People around agoraphobics are often simply trying what they feel is best. If you can see that their intentions are well meaning (despite often misguided), then you will be able to relate to them better and help sooth any potential conflicts.

There is one thing I am sure you will agree with, and that is that the only person who will get you out of agoraphobic thinking is yourself. These are your thoughts, and only you can begin to change that pattern. Dealing with long term agoraphobia and panic attacks is a slow process to begin with, but once the results start, it moves faster and faster until you reach a point where you will find it hard to believe that going out was such a difficult task.

I hope you have found this agoraphobia and panic attacks page helpful in some way.

Treatment for Anxiety Disorders!

The uneasy feeling that accompanies a strange dog’s growl is the first line of the body’s defense against danger. The normal discomfort and worry most people experience in common, unpleasant situations is temporary, but for 40 million Americans each year, that same apprehension crosses a line, becoming a dread that won’t go away. Uneasiness intensifies into a sustained, uncontrollable fear becoming a disorder that requires treatment.

Diagnosis and Scope of Anxiety Disorders

It’s easy for the distressing symptoms of anxiety disorders to be masked by medical conditions, making diagnoses difficult for physicians. Depression is often a companion issue for anxiety disorder sufferers and symptoms may overlap. A thorough patient examination helps to eliminate any medical problems. Once a disorder is isolated and identified, treatment may include medication, psychiatric therapy or even a combination of standard and alternative therapies.

Excessive anxiety and underlying distress that interfere with everyday living are common factors among the six major psychiatric conditions known as anxiety disorders. These are generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. Each condition manifests itself differently from patient to patient requiring customized treatment, according to an individual’s specific disorder and needs. Successful treatment is commonly accomplished within a relatively short period of time.

Anxiety Treatment with Medications

While medications are often integrated with therapy and sometimes complementary or alternative forms of treatment, medicines can also be used alone depending on the patient’s condition and preference of treatment. Medications used for treatment are not cures for an anxiety disorder; however, they can be used by the patient situationally or as a way to keep it under control during coexisting behavioral treatment.

When medications are suggested for treatment, doctors must first rule out any possible contributing causes for the anxiety that might interfere with the medication’s performance. Since patients with anxiety disorders are often simultaneously affected by depression or substance abuse, a doctor may suggest separate treatment for these particular problems in advance of any anxiety treatment.

Drugs Available for Anxiety Treatment

Depending on the symptoms and intensity of the anxiety disorder, a doctor may prescribe medications from one of three categories: antidepressants, beta-blockers or anti-anxiety drugs. Antidepressants are especially effective in treatment for those patients whose anxiety diagnosis also encompasses depression. Among the antidepressants prescribed are selective serotonin uptake reinhibitors or SSRIs, which facilitate neurotransmitter communication in the brain. Other antidepressants are tricyclics and, the dependable older antidepressants, monoamine oxidase inhibitors or MAOIs.

Treatment prescriptions, especially for those who have a joint diagnosis of drug or alcohol abuse, may include anti-anxiety drugs called benzodiazepines. Since the benzodiazepines Clonazapam and Buspirone can be habit-forming, they are meant only for short-term treatment. Beta-blockers like propranolol, also used in treating heart ailments, are most often prescribed for anxiety in limited doses to prevent the physical rather than emotional symptoms associated with anxiety.

When Anxiety Treatment Medications are Used

Depending on the anxiety disorder diagnosed, a patient may require anxiety medication only during certain anxiety-producing situations. An example would be an anxiety sufferer who is afraid to fly. In that case, a patient would only need a prescription medicine before a flight would take place. Alternately, a patient may be asked to continue taking medication to help control ongoing anxiety symptoms during the course of a companion psychiatric treatment. Generalized anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder normally require longer prescriptions. Because some anxiety treatment medications may be addictive and cause negative side effects, most are prescribed for anxiety treatment only for short-term use.

Anxiety Treatment with Psychiatry

Medications are frequently paired with psychotherapy to increase the effectiveness of anxiety treatment. Psychotherapy, conducted with a mental health professional and sometimes called talk therapy, is used to encourage a patient to reflect on the past to learn the root cause of an anxiety disorder. This type of therapy can work well for anxiety suffers who have trouble associating the anxiety disorder with life experiences that may have triggered it.

Another type of psychiatric anxiety treatment is CBT or Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. CBT goes beyond sourcing the anxiety disorder and moves in a direction that helps a patient change patterns or behaviors related to his fears. By altering what a patient thinks about fear and how he responds to it, the intensity of the anxiety symptoms can eventually diminish and even disappear.

As part of the progression of anxiety treatment in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, a patient may be asked to confront his fear directly in a safe and supervised environment. As the exposure to the object or situation he most fears increases during CBT anxiety treatment, the patient learns to take feel more comfortable and begins to take more control of his responses.

Anxiety Treatment Alternatives

Therapy and medication are widely believed to be the optimum anxiety treatment, but recently doctors and psychiatrists have considered complementary and alternative anxiety treatments to further ensure treatment success. The alternatives offer new options for anxiety treatment, some of which are under the direct control of the patient.

In conjunction with the anxiety treatments already prescribed, a patient may be directed to take up a vigorous exercise program. Consistent exercise helps to naturally release endorphins, hormones that positively affect emotions and help produce a sense of wellbeing. An anxiety disorder patient could also be instructed in alternate breathing techniques, learned through yoga classes, that would help to balance the patient’s responses to anxiety. Hypnosis and biofeedback are also considered complementary anxiety treatments.

Anxiety Treatment as a Solution

Not all anxiety disorders reveal themselves in the same manner, but all anxiety symptoms are responses to the same feelings of dread and apprehension that anxiety sufferers share. The anxiety treatment program that works best is one in which the anxiety disorder is correctly and quickly diagnosed followed by the proper anxiety treatment of medication, therapy, alternatives or a successful mix of all three.

How Surrendering in Silence Gives You a Good Night's Sleep

If you could manage to get a restful night's sleep, would you? If we could learn how to simply rest in the silence beyond thinking, we would find a restful night is easy to have. This is what most people call clearing their mind, but the question is, 'how do you focus on clearing your mind?' Or, how do you focus on not thinking? It is impossible to focus on not doing something. You have to focus on literally performing an act. So, the act you have to focus on to stop thinking is breathing into silence. This silence exists beyond your thoughts and your awareness travels in your breath. So, what you have to do is to breathe into the silence beyond your thoughts.

The main problem is that we are so interested in our thoughts that we would rather focus on them instead of going to sleep. This problem exists because of old thinking habits. These thinking habits happen to us constantly, but it is not until you want to check out and go to sleep; that is when you realize they cause a problem.

Now, let's think about that for a moment. These problems are caused by thoughts in your mind. If they only hurt when you focus on them, what do you have to do to stop focusing on them when you can not go to sleep? The key to a restful night's sleep exists in your ability to control where your awareness lands. Becoming aware of a thought is when your awareness lands on it. Having your awareness go beyond the thought is a way of activating The Wisdom of Your Body. In fact, if you can control your awareness, you can stop being aware of the distractions created by your mind. By doing that, you will be able to fall sleep more easily.

If you think of surrender as where your awareness lands, where do you have to focus to get a good night's sleep? If you surrender and have your awareness land in the silence beyond your thoughts, you will activate The Wisdom of the Body. If your focus is just on thinking, you are surrendering to the creations of your mind, which is not always the best focus for sleep.

There are three qualities needed to find that surrender in silence, so you can fall sleep:

  • Sleep is like being hugged; it is an embrace that you fall into. It is easier to surrender in silence when you love the one you hug; in the same way, it is easier to fall sleep when you love what you are falling into. Having a positive self-image is like loving the one you embrace as you fall sleep. If you have a hard time sleeping; do not focus on thinking … connect to the love within.
  • Sleep requires a "letting go" that releases you from your thinking mind. When you trust yourself, it is easy to let go to a loving contact-yourself. Trust is an amazing quality because with trust you let go of the past and embrace the moment. It unlocks the entrance to your powerful sub-conscious mind. This is where your healing powers are stored and where you have a beautiful inner connection. It is the part of you that loves life, even if you are facing difficult times. This is your most spiritual part and when you need to heal, it is your best friend.
  • Your breath is one of your most powerful tools for sleep. A conscious breath can help you sleep. We give life to what we breathe into. If you breathe into fears and worry, they become alive and create tension and keep you awake. If you learn how to breathe into silence, you give life to the wisdom of your Body. Most people breathe into thinking and by doing that they ignore their inner wisdom, but that wisdom is at the essence of a restful night's sleep.

What Is Vulvodynia? A Mind Body Perspective

Vulvo what?

Vulvodynia is chronic vulvar pain that has no known medical cause.

It affects women of every age, but seems to predominately affect women from about the ages of 18 – 50.

The symptoms include burning, stinging, aching, soreness, throbbing, rawness, and itching in the vulva, as well as painful intercourse. It can last from months to years. The symptoms can be generalized or specific, constant or intermittent – triggered by touch or activities such as sitting, walking, biking, wearing tight clothing, and having sex.

Vulvodynia symptoms can come on slowly or suddenly. They can be triggered by trauma, nerve injury, yeast infection, prolonged antibiotic use, or a history of sexual abuse.

However it shows up, this vulvar pain syndrome significantly impacts a woman's life.

It interferes not only with her ability to have intimate relationships and engage in normal activities like walking and wearing clothes, but it can keep her in bed for days at a time with pain that no doctor has been able to help her heal, and that she is often embarrassed or ashamed to tell anyone about (including her boss, coworkers, family, and friends).

For these reasons, and because the vulva and vagina are such a huge part of a woman's sense of identity, power and creativity, vulvodynia can lead to severe emotional pain, anxiety, depression, and a sense of isolation.

Because vulvodynia has just recently been recognized as a pain syndrome, there are still many health care providers that are not aware of its existence.

When I experienced vulvar pain in 2010, not one of the doctors I saw ever mentioned vulvodynia. They were stumped by my symptoms. There was no identifiable cause (ie yeast or bacteria) so in their view there was nothing wrong. One gynecologist I saw recommended trying massive doses of antibiotics (for a year) in case it was bacterial – even though there was no evidence that it was!

Lack of awareness on the part of healthcare providers combined with women's shame around having and talking about their symptoms makes it very difficult to accurately determine how many women are actually suffering with vulvodynia.

According to Web MD, "Estimates of women with vulvodynia range from 200,000 to six million."

That's quite a range!

As a mind body coach specializing in the treatment of pelvic and sexual pain in women, my guess is that the reality is much closer to 6 million than it is to 200,000.

In her book Ending Female Pain, A Woman's Manual, Isa Herrera says that researchers estimate 12-20% of all women have chronic pelvic pain and that up to 33% of women (1/3) will have pelvic pain during their lifetime. She also includes the fact that as many as 60% of women with chronic pelvic pain never receive a specific diagnosis.

Up until now, the medical treatments for Vulvodynia have been primarily been limited to the avoidance of vulvar irritants, use of oral and topical medicines, vulvar injections, and surgery. Most of which have not been effective at achieving long term (or any) pain relief for many women.

Whatever the numbers, it is clear that there are a lot of women suffering from chronic vulvar pain, and equally clear that so far western medicine has not found any consistent effective treatments for this pain syndrome.

Why?

Because western medicine focuses on mechanistic causes and the underlying cause of vulvodynia (in a large majority of cases) is not purely physical. It is mental, spiritual, and emotional.

Vulvodynia is most often caused by what Dr. Howard Schubiner, author of Unlearn Your Pain, calls Mind Body Syndrome.

Mind Body Syndrome is characterized by the fact that there is no irreversible tissue damage. The underlying physiological processes that are causing the pain are driven by thoughts and emotions.

This does not mean the symptoms are not real.

If you've been diagnosed with Vulvodynia, you know very well that your symptoms ARE real.

In fact, women who experience vulvar pain almost always have physical symptoms, like tension in their pelvic floor muscles, which inhibits blood flow to the nerves and tissues in the pelvis and causes pain.

When I say that the cause is not physical, what I am saying is that the physiological symptoms are actually caused by thoughts and emotions, and until the underlying emotions and thought patterns are addressed, the pain will not go away – no matter how many medications or surgeries are tried.

Stressful thoughts and unfelt emotions cause chronic physical tension and activation of the nervous system.

So, if you have trauma or emotions (present or past) that you are not acknowledging, if your life is out of alignment with your soul's desires, if you're under a lot of stress, feeling worried, anxious, or depressed, it Physically affects your body.

Just like when you're embarrassed you blush. Emotion triggers a physiological response in the body.

And until you address this undering cause, unravel your thoughts, feel your emotions, and allow your pain to guide you, it will not go away.

The good news is though, that once you do, it will. And not only will you heal your body, you'll develop increased self awareness, attain a greater understanding of your brain and body, unravel the issues that are causing the pain, and end up living a richer, more vibrant, more joyful life.

If you're suffering with Vulvodynia or Pelvic Pain, a Mind Body approach, that includes fulfilling your relationship with your body, learning how to allow and process your emotions in healthy ways, owning, loving, and embracing your vulva and vagina, in addition to breathing, awareness, stretching, relaxation and massage of the pelvic floor muscles, can not only relieve pelvic pain, but also create radiant health and increase energy, confidence, creativity, and joy.

The way I see what I would describe as this current epidemic of Vulvodynia and Female Pelvic Pain, is as the beginning of a huge shift.

A shift that will connect women more deeply to their bodies, emotions, and souls, and as a result not only heal the women who are currently suffering, but all women, and by extension everyone and everything.

If you're suffering with Vulvodynia, discouraged and overwhelmed because you're not getting better, and afraid of your symptoms and how they're going to affect the rest of your life, you are not alone, and there IS a way out.

Your vulva is communicating with you.

Are you ready to listen?

It's time.

The Best Ways To Clean Your Shower Head

When you turn on your shower, as expected, water comes out of it, which you use to cleanse and freshen yourself. However, aside from water, some other harmful substances may also be coming out from your shower whenever you take a bath.

These harmful substances come in the form of germs or bacteria. Some of the most common types of bacteria that can be found in most shower systems and heads include:

Cryptosporidium – a type of bacteria that can cause low fever, diarrhea, nausea, headache, vomiting and stomach cramps when ingested.

Giardia lamblia – a type of water bacteria that causes giardiasis, or beaver fever. The symptoms of this particular illness include diarrhea, cramps, nausea and severe weight loss.

Legionella – the Legionella bacterium is a specific strain of microbes that includes L. pneumophila, a dangerous type of strain which causes the dreaded Legionnaires’ diseases and Pontiac fever.

The growth and spread of all these harmful microbes though can easily be avoided when you have a clean shower head. Below are some of the best ways of cleaning it:

Soak the shower head in warm vinegar. If you can remove the head from the shower pipe, submerge the shower head in a container full of warmed (not boiling) white vinegar. Leave the head to soak in the vinegar for a few hours. After which, re-attach it to the shower pipe and rinse the head to clear out the vinegar.

If you can’t or don’t want to remove the shower head, fill a plastic bag with warm white vinegar and wrap this around the head. Tie the bag around the head securely by using a rubber band, tape, or a twist tie. Leave the bag around the head for several hours. Afterwards, remove the bag and turn on the water for several minutes to clear the vinegar out of the head.

Rub the shower head’s nozzles. Most types of shower heads today have flexible rubber nozzles. You can easily remove any mineral build-up in these nozzles by massaging each nozzle with your finger or by gently scrubbing the nozzles with an old soft toothbrush.

Clean the filter screen. The filter screen is usually found in the part of the shower head that connects to the pipe. You have to remove the shower head from the pipe to get to the filter screen. You can do this consulting your shower system or head manual. Once you have removed the filter screen, run this under water for several minutes to flush out any buildup. To remove mineral deposits, you can use a toothbrush to gently and safely brush these out.

Some Great Home Remedies for Hair Growth

There are various home remedies for hair growth that can be used by anyone, if they know not to rush to the pharmacist looking for the latest product that will create hair growth. There are some key things you can do.

First, ensure your diet is right. Food has a direct effect upon hair health and the best hair growth treatment is to make sure you're hair is getting the significant nutrients necessary to provide healthy hair development. These include zinc, ginseng, capsicum, horsetail and other supplements that can be used with good shampoos – ideally natural shampoos.

Second, make sure your scalp is getting good circulation because being reduced of proper blood flow can literally starve the hair follicles and create issues with hair loss. You should ensure you provide some scalp massage or get your partner to do so for you, it is not only relaxing but is helping ensure your hair stays healthy and continues to grow properly.

Third, make sure that you are getting sufficient water and vitamins. You can take supplements if need be but you need to ensure your entire body is properly hydrated at all times to make sure your hair growth is good. Water is essential to ensure the hair follicles are properly supplied with the necessary nutrients and hydration to continue their growth. Getting magnesium, zinc and other vitamins and minerals into your food and into your hair is critical to ensuring quality and sustained hair health and to prevent abnormal or early hair loss.

There is no reason why people using good home remedies for their hair can not now 'preserve' their hair for far longer than may have been thought possible. So take note, please.

There are various other home remedies for hair growth that you can also consider, and never forget the effect that stress can have both on hair growth and hair color. You need to consider whether there has been abnormal hair loss or accelerated hair loss which may be due to lifestyle and other factors.

For men, looking at various home remedies for hair growth can be a particular issue only because they are often overlooked, notwithstanding their understandable desire to prevent hair loss. There is great emphasis put on hair transplants and so on, but they are expensive and you should make sure you try the best home remedies for hair growth – it's only natural!

The Importance of Spine Doctors

More or less, almost all of us have consulted physicians for a variety of health related problems. When someone becomes ill or sufferers from a complicated disease, he or she thinks only about their physical condition and wants to come round at any cost. But few of us think about the huge role a physician or doctor plays in treating us and making us fit and healthier. However, no-one can deny the fact that we can not remain safe and sound for long without the assistance of the doctors.

The skill and expertise of physicians vary depending on what they were taught in medical universities or health related training centers. A spine doctor is an expert in curing spine related problems like spine pain or back pain. Almost everyone has had the experience of going through spine pain at some time during their lifetime. However, it does not mean that everyone has needed to consult a spine surgeon or doctor for the treatment of the pain. It's mainly because the effect of spinal pain variants. Some people may suffer from spinal pain because they have been in a chair or in front of their desktop computer for a long time. Others may suffer from the pain because they have been doing hard work for a reasonable amount of time. So, these are not real threats to the body or the spinal system. In fact, proper rest is enough to cure such pain. So, these people do not need to see a spine doctor. But if someone is suffering from a chronic pain, then they would certainly need to visit the specialist.

A spine doctor plays a cerebral role in the treatment of spinal pain related problems. Since they have the required skill and experience to treat a patient and heal the pain, they bought to be the specialist a patient sees when someone first discovers a serious back issue. A good and qualified doctor should not only think about earning money. Treating patients properly and curing them of any related related problems should be at the top of the doctor's objectives. A spine doctor has the power and expertise to decide whether a patient needs surgical operation. Any sort of surgery is not a game and it requires high risk. Even if it requires high risk, a spine doctor should not mind operating on a patient if it is what is required. In this way, a spine doctor takes heavy responsibility for their patients and plays a big part in curing them from spinal pain.

To conclude, the contribution of a spine doctor in curing patients suffering from the pain can be significant when helping to treat and cure any back pain.

Cure For Diabetes – Step Toward Advancement

"Diabetes is irreversible". "Diabetes can not be cured". We all know this well but still a question in the mind of every diabetic and his loved one is that how close are we to the cure for diabetes.

Actually it depends on our own mental level that is what we mean by this simple word CURE. Diabetes actually has many genetic and environmental causes behind it and therefore it has many ways of treating. Most of the research in the previous few years was for the prevention of diabetes and its management if it occurs. These researches are obviously very important unless and until the cure for diabetes becomes available. The final cure for this disease would be a replacement for the cells of the pancreas as it is caused by the malfunctioning of these cells that makes insulin. To do this an insulin pump would have to be inserted which would be regulated automatically by the glucose sensors. This pump has been invented and tested in about 500 people in different areas of world. But Glucose sensors are not yet developed but will be very soon.

Another approach which many of us are already aware of, is to transplant insulin producing cells into the person with diabetes it has been more difficult in humans, because human body looks at these cells as foreign invaders and tries to hunt them off. Many researchers are trying to overcome these problems it is here when we can say that we expect a cure of diabetes in the coming year.

Till the scientists, researchers find the cure to diabetes we have to live with diabetes, we have to reprogram our minds so that it starts to believe that there is a cure for diabetes – its all about mind programming.

Natural Remedies to Thicken Skin – The Best Lotion for Thin Skin

Are you sick of paper thin skin that’s getting older looking by the day? The skin gets thinner and thinner as it ages because the growth of collagen and elastin is reduced. There are creams, lotions, and natural remedies to thicken skin. How effective they are depends on if they effectively can boost your growth of collagen and elastin.

To boost your growth of those vital proteins you need to look at the causes of the reduced growth. Sure, the aging process itself is a big cause. But another big one is nutritional deficiency caused by eating too little nutritious foods or by things that leech nutrients from your body.

To thicken your skin the best thing you can start doing is including lots of nutritious foods in your diet. Especially organic fresh fruit, vegetables, berries, and other whole foods help rejuvenate your skin. A good idea is also to supplement with natural vitamins, minerals, and omega-3.

You should also avoid things that reduce your nutrient absorption. These are things like smoking, stressing, and an excessive alcohol intake. Things like these harm your body and make your skin age much faster.

Now let’s look at what is the best cream for thin skin.

You should use a cream that works to thicken skin naturally by increasing your own growth of collagen and elastin. As you start producing more collagen and elastin your skin will start getting thicker and smoother. In order to find a cream that really works you need to look at the ingredients and find proven effective ones.

Ingredients like cynergy TK, nano-lipobelle H-EQ10, and avocado oil have shown in scientific studies with volunteers to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, making their skin tighter, healthier and younger looking. These ingredients are completely natural and when used in completely natural skin creams they produce a synergistic effect, giving a much greater anti-aging effect than just the individual benefits.

The best lotions for thin skin don’t only have proven ingredients; they also have the right amounts of them. Many of the creams out there look like they are effective, but when you look closer you discover that the best ingredients are only added in the minimum amount. Such creams are largely ineffective but found everywhere in the market.

To find the best creams for aged thin skin find a company that promises to put the optimal amounts into their products always, no matter how much it costs to manufacture them.
