How to Treat a Hemorrhoid That Won’t Stop Bleeding

It is a golden rule that you should never ignore bleeding hemorrhoids. Though it is true that bleeding is a perfectly normal symptom of hemorrhoids there may occasionally be a more serious underlying cause — so if there is any doubt at all it is strongly advisable to consult a physician to confirm that this is not the case. Apart from the few cases that require more serious medical attention, creams and ointment solutions often provide symptom relief as well as reduction in swelling. Treating hemorrhoids as quickly as possible this way can also help to prevent a more serious condition developing.

Hydrocortisone creams are available on a non-prescription basis for the self-treatment of bleeding hemorrhoids. These help by reducing the swelling and discomfort of the condition. This type of cream is powerful and so it is vital that it is used carefully in accordance with the directions on the packaging (or as otherwise given by a doctor.) Also be aware that a hemorrhoids response to these creams normally requires a certain amount of time to allow things to return to normal and so you should not expect instant results.

There are also many natural treatment methods such as ointments containing herbs and vitamins available. These may also reduce discomfort and hemorrhoids size though success may not be so certain as their action is likely to be milder — some people may still prefer this kind of approach though. In addition to this simple changes to your diet, such as increasing fruit and vegetable eaten, may help by reducing straining when passing a motion. This straining is a major reason that hemorrhoids become worse. For this reason increased hydration is also important.

It goes almost without saying that scrupulous care of the infected area is also essential. The area must remain as clean as possible which can be achieved very simply with warm water. On the other hand, while you do this, do not rub the area too vigorously as this may lead to further irritation.

Surgery may be required in the case of severe bleeding which does not reduced by other methods. Laser surgery is a highly successful up-to-date method and involves the use of a laser light beam which can remove most of the hemorrhoids while not affecting the surrounding area. So called rubber band ligation removes hemorrhoids by cutting off their blood supply, eventually causing them to die and fall off. These procedures are quick and minimize discomfort and pain, though they may not always provide a permanent solution as some of the tissue forming the hemorrhoids may remain. These procedures are normally performed as an outpatient allowing you to return home the same day.

The most severe of cases your physician may advise a called hemorrhoidectomy to remove the hemorrhoids altogether. When this surgical removal is done it may require stitches and can require a longer and more uncomfortable period of recovery — typically with a couple of days in hospital and a week or two to recover.

The best strategy with hemorrhoids is to take action early on. Make the lifestyle changes described, apply appropriate medication and visit your physician if you have any doubts at all. Taking action now may well save far more complex and expensive treatment in the future.

The Health Benefits of Yoghurt

This is something recently added to my diet in the smoothies that have replaced a normal cereal breakfast. Used in conjunction with 5 or 6 different fruits and a small teaspoon of Manuka honey plus a stick of celery my gut is now singing and alive. Concerned about toxicity from an incorrect diet and worried by a recent report of fat in the pancreas (which can lead to cancer) it was essential to repair my body and release it from the toxins.

My research into yoghurt has confirmed the importance of it for the digestive system, although it is not essential. Being a dairy product it does not appear to hinder arthritis although further research into that side of it is required. It does, however, contain essential minerals, vitamins, and calcium, plus other goodies.

The first thing is about good bacteria in the gut. This product is usually made from bacteria which puts it in the status of probiotics, and most have heard that word before. The term ‘pro-biotics’ literally means ‘for living things’. By way of contrast ‘anti-biotic’ means ‘against living things’. The latter destroys bacteria and the former replaces it with the good ones.

It is also animal protein because it comes from milk. That means it has calcium, vitamins B2, B12, potassium and magnesium.

Calcium: is essential for bone mass, while it assists in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. It is, therefore, good for all age groups.

Potassium is essential for heart, kidneys, and other organs to function properly. Low potassium leads to a risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, cancer, infertility, and digestive disorders.

Magnesium helps keep the blood pressure normal and the heart rhythm steady along with healthy bones. Studies in the US show that people who do not have enough magnesium in their system are likely to have elevated inflammatory markers which are associated with heart disease, diabetes, and a risk of osteoporosis. People with high blood pressure can also be helped.

Since including it in my diet the benefits have shown up in many ways, including the good-feeling in my digestive tract. That means it is doing its job and there is nothing to be lost or which is adverse against it.

People who suffer from any of the above mentioned problems might like to do their own research into ways to improve their diet and increase the health benefits. Along with taking yoghurt on a daily basis I have included a gym membership for essential exercise and have removed refined sugar and salt from food wherever possible. Bread intake is also greatly reduced and sometimes not required at all.

7 Perfect Skin Tips to Achieve Beautiful Skin

By the time you finish reading this, you will have knowledge of some very helpful perfect skin tips. Keep in mind, this article is not about spending thousands of dollars for the latest skin surgery fad out there. This is about following some simple but powerful tips.

Tip #1 – The first tip is to eat healthy foods. Your skin is your body’s largest organ, so it needs to be looked after just like your internal organs. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables are good for your entire body. Avoid greasy foods and processed foods, these foods not only cause damage internally but externally as well.

Tip #2 – Number two in my list of perfect skin tips is stop using poor quality creams and lotions. If you use junk on your skin, what do you expect the results to be?

Tip #3 – Get plenty of rest. Do you want bags and circles under your eyes? The area around your eyes is very sensitive and it really shows your age.

Tip #4 – Avoid bad habits such as smoking. Smoking is obviously bad for you but many people do not realize that it is also bad for your skin. The smoke is fill of toxins so what do you think it will do to your face?

Tip $5 – Most of us love the sun, right. But, the sun is not your friend. Ultra violet rays are very harmful to your skin. Prolonged exposure to these rays can cause cancer in extreme cases. But in many cases, over exposure can cause free radicals to form over time. This can lead to the formation of lines and wrinkles on your face.

Tip #6 – A list of perfect skin tips would not be complete without this one. You have probably heard this a thousand times before too. But, here it is again. You need to drink plenty of water to help keep your body moisturized. Dry skin can lead to cracking and peeling.

Tip #7 – Use a natural anti aging cream that is rich in active natural ingredients. Natural products are safer and more effective as well. After several weeks of regular use, you should notice a reduction in the signs of aging on your skin.

Take these perfect skin tips and find yourself a product that works.

Types of Mental Health Services

In the last few years we have gained awareness of the various needs that individuals with mental health issues need in order to achieve overall well-being. Many times, we talk about the importance of medication, individual counseling, family counseling, and, socialization.

Those are all of extreme importance when it comes to mental health but the one service that seems to be forgotten is care management. A lot of people attribute care management services to individuals who are aging or who have chronic medical conditions. Although, care management can be very helpful for those issues, we also see a huge need for intense care management for individuals who have a chronic mental illness and cannot get access to any services. It is not a secret that severe and persistent mental illness like schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, and major depression can require intense care management and advocacy.

Just as a refresher, the duties of a mental health care manager include:

  • Acting as a connector between the individual and the community resources
  • Advocating on behalf of the individual so that he or she gain access to needed quality services
  • Overseeing the care of an individual including medication management, doctors’ appointments, therapy, psychiatric services, and anything else related to their care
  • Connecting the client’s family to support services such as individual, family, or group counseling
  • Being an advocate if there is need for hospitalization to ensure the safety of the client and their family members
  • Facilitating access to needed benefits
  • Assisting the individual with navigating all the different services so that it does not become overwhelming for them
  • Crisis intervention
  • Alleviating family members of some stress regarding the care and wellbeing of their loved one
  • Coordinating for advanced planning for the individual
  • Connect individual with social services and programs
  • Any service that the person may need the care manager will make that connection.

As professionals in the field of mental health, we see that families with loved ones living with a mental health condition often want an immediate and instant “fix” for their family member. It is important for them to keep in mind, that a mental illness is a lot like a physical illness that needs constant care. This is not to say that you cannot live a “normal” life with a mental illness however extra care is needed. In addition, as family members it is important to remember that you also have a vital role in the recovery of your loved one. The more involved you are, the more likely your loved is to recover.

There is a lot of value in having a care manager involved in the care of your loved one with a mental illness. A care manager will initially do a full initial assessment of your loved one’s needs and wishes and will explore what services can add value to the life their life. They will explore the physical, psychological, social, and emotional well-being of your family member and will assess for possible gaps that need to be filled. For example, your family member may be living with schizophrenia and has been in and out of the hospital while being non -compliant with medication. Once this happens we know that your loved ones has probably had many psychotic episodes resulting in severe impaired functioning. Therefore. he or she may need home care services to assist with activities of daily living such. However, every case is different some more severe than others.

Another common case for care management is one that your adult child has recently been diagnosed with a mental illness and you as parents/family members do not even know where to start. In cases like this, the care manager steps in and coordinates for all initial care. When this occurs we often see a sense of relief in our family members as they often will say “I do not even know how I would have started this process without you”. A care manager is also a huge support system for the individual as they now know that they have an advocate overseeing their needs and wishes.

It is important to remember that living with a mental illness or having a family member with a mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of. In addition, the diagnosis of a mental illness does not mean that the person’s life is over as many people mistakenly think. We have worked with many individuals and their families as they cope with diagnoses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, generalized anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, and many others. The beginning of the process is usually made up of what we like to call growing pains full of discomfort. It is important to note that many of our clients with these diagnoses live normal lives but are able to do so because they gained access to the resources in the community. One very important step is accepting the presence of this new diagnosis and what it may mean. Another important step is realizing that you may need the help of psychiatric and/or home care services. It is important to act as early as you can, as early intervention can lead to the best results.

Floatation Therapy – All Stresses Simply Seep Away

Floatation therapy is a quick and simple way to achieve intense relaxation. Stress is constantly being recognized as the cause of illness and physical problems and floatation therapy is an ideal way to unwind and release pent up tension.

A physician and neuro-psychiatrist named Dr. John C. Lilly originally gave birth to the idea of the floatation tank. His studies veered him in the direction of sensory deprivation and the impact it had on reducing brain activity. While Doctor Lilly was undergoing psychoanalysis training, he continued to find out as much as he could about isolating people from any external stimuli. His first tank was created early in the 1950’s.

Floatation therapy provides people with an almost instant feeling of well-being: As the brain activity lowers, any problems or stresses seem trivial and simple to overcome. Whether a person has been experiencing physical pain or aches or they have a stress related problem like insomnia, Dr. Lilly’s invention will prove to be invaluable. When the body and mind enters into such a relaxed state, more areas of the brain can work harmoniously together to provide healing and clarity of thought.

Most forms of such deep relaxation take a lot of time and practicing before any deeper levels can be reached. With floatation therapy, no learning or practicing is required and no energy is necessary. It is as simple as climbing into the tank and floating for a while. Even if it’s the end of a hectic, tiring week, mustering the energy to climb on in will be well worth it.

How do Floatation Tanks Work?

Of course the initial development of the floatation tank was nowhere near as comfortable as the modern day designs. They now have light, easy to open and close lids or doors, circulation fans, internal lighting and a very classy and new age look.

They have been created as a peaceful, comforting tank or room that contains approximately ten inches of water and a heap of Epsom salt. When water contains pounds of salt, it becomes much denser than the body and provides the floater with a feeling of weightlessness, making it easy to float.

Should the tanks only contain fresh water or water with chlorine in it, a person would have to constantly keep moving to keep floating. It wouldn’t be a very relaxing experience if worrying about sinking was the main agenda.

Using professional floatation therapy methods allows the body to become completely relaxed while floating on the surface without effort.

The water is always set to body temperature which means it quickly feels like the body and the water become one. It is a private, dark, temperate and moist environment that most people find to be very pleasant. For those concerned about feeling claustrophobic, the lid can be left ajar or completely open, but floatation therapy is more effective if it’s closed and completely dark.

Some people choose to wear bathers and others like to be naked for their floatation therapy. There is a shower to use before climbing in and whichever way makes an individual feel more comfortable will be best for them.

Another good idea is to wear ear plugs because usually the ears are in the water the entire time.

Lying on the back is not the only option and many people like to try different positions whilst floating. It feels almost like laying on a bed and there is freedom to move and float in different ways.

An hour of floatation therapy is equal to four hours of deep sleep. Usually there will be a light to indicate that an hour has passed, or the tank water may vibrate as the filters start to self-clean. It isn’t recommended to spend more than an hour inside and this is seen as the ideal length of time.

The Epsom salt makes skin soft, smooth and silky to touch. The prune look normally seen after bathing is caused by water leeching salt from the skin and because the tank water is so salty already, this doesn’t happen. Many people go straight from a floatation session onto their next appointments.

Important Features of Floatation Tanks

Today’s floatation tanks have been designed with safety in mind, which is why it is impossible to ever be trapped inside. It is completely okay to climb in and out any time so users feel in control.

Modern tanks aren’t air tight and also have their own fans circulating the air and keeping it fresh. In the rare event that something did go wrong with the fan, there would never be a shortage of air.

Advanced filtration mechanisms keep the tank and water clean. This means there are no concerns about picking up an infection or catching a disease.

Currently floatation tanks and floatrooms cost anywhere from $7400 to $24000. This is the price of the units only and doesn’t include any delivery charges or extra accessories.

Not many people can afford to install there own tank at home. It’s much more affordable to visit a local salon that offers floatation therapy and many will provide package deals offering discounts for more than one visit.

The First Floatation Therapy

There are some important points to consider before the first float, whether planning to use a tank in the home or visit a salon that offers the service:

* Because of the high salt concentration of the water, metal items can be damaged during a float. For this reason even wedding rings should be removed.

* To avoid damaging contact lenses if water goes into the eye, they are also best being removed.

* It’s an excellent idea to spray some liquid skin or liquid bandage onto any cuts or abrasions. This is because the salt water will sting rather intensely for some minutes if there is any broken skin, so even shaving nicks should be considered.

* It is a courtesy to take a shower and wash your hair. Conditioner shouldn’t be applied and the entire body should be washed and rinsed before floating. This prevents unnecessary pollution of the water in the tank.

* For those who have a specific issue on their mind, it’s suggested that focusing on it while preparing for a session is beneficial. As soon as the body hits the water, asking for universal guidance towards finding a resolution is usually very effective.

Precautions to remember when in the tank are:

* It is pitch black when the lid of the tank is closed and it’s not uncommon for someone to initially panic when the doors appear to be stuck. This is impossible and it’s simply a matter of them being disoriented because it’s so dark. If this happens, simply feeling around for the lids location will solve the problem and keeping any panic at bay.

* On initially entering the tank, it is best to take a minute to orient the mind to where the lid is in respect to floating.

* Another thing to find when first entering the tank is the light switch. Nearly all tanks have interior lights and knowing how to find it can also help prevent a panic attack.

Anyone attempting floatation therapy for the first time needs to remind themselves that they are safe and calm. The doors are designed so they can not be locked or stuck and there is always plenty of air. Any problems will only be related to locating the doors and that is not so hard to do as long as calmness is maintained. It is sometimes a good idea to find the light switch first and then find the door. If panic does start to set in the best solution is to lie back in the water, breathe, relax and then look again for the lid.

* If salt water does make its way into the eyes it can sting very badly. This is because the salt concentration is so high, so it’s important to remember these points:

– As soon as the hands become wet they must be kept off the face and eyes.

– Any time the hands are raised over the head for a change of position, they should go outside the head, not over the face. This avoids water dripping into the eyes.

– The hair needs to be carefully pushed away from the face anytime the floating position is changed and especially when sitting up.

– In case water does get in the eyes, there should always be a towel near the door of the tank for immediate use.

It only takes a single floatation therapy session to fall in love with the feeling. It provides a natural pathway to health and wellbeing and is a wonderful feeling everyone should experience.

Prostate Cancer: Is Watchful Waiting A Viable Alternative?

Prostate cancer unlike most other cancers is usually a slow growth cancer. Most men over the age of seventy with prostate cancer will probably die of something else. But because my PSA had doubled from 4.5 to 9.1 in a year, watchful waiting was not an option.

I am a Vietnam Veteran and the Veterans Administration assumes I was exposed to Agent Orange. Agent Orange was used in Vietnam as a defoliant and exposure to it causes a wide range of nasty diseases, prostate cancer being one of them. I will discuss this more in another article.

Watchful waiting may also be called expectant management, observation, and / or active surveillance. What exactly does watchful waiting mean? Well what it does not mean is to disregard the warning signs of a high PSA. What it does mean is working with your doctor to set up a protocol that includes regular monitoring of your PSA.

Some doctors may prefer close monitor your prostate and some may describe a less intensive approach. Using a variety of methods such as PSA blood test, digital rectal exams, biopsies and ultrasounds it's possible to carefully monitor your cancer and take action if there is a change in your test results.

I should point out here that like most men my prostate and the idea of being constantly examined did not appeal to me. After all we're talking about a most intimate part of the male anatomy. This being the case it's critical to find a doctor who you feel comfortable with and who is willing to answer your questions and discuss all the options.

With active surveillance or watchful waiting only men whose cancer is growing will be treated. For men with lower PSA this means avoiding the many side effects of aggressive procedures such as surgery. Of course if you go the route of watchful waiting there is the danger that the cancer will spread. If this happens then your treatment options maybe limited.

Older men especially those with other serious health problems watchful is a viable alternative. But for young people who are in good health and who have many years ahead of them a more aggressive treatment plan is probably the best choice.

Whiche option you choose watchful waiting or more aggressive intervention remember these points. First of all without your cancer when detected is in an advance stage, you have time to carefully consider your opinions. Secondly find a doctor you are comfortable with and that you trust. Thirdly weigh all the options and if watchful waiting is for you follow your doctor's advice and make sure you monitor your PSA on a regular schedule.

Hypertension: 3 Things I Have Learn About High Blood Pressure

I have hypertension. When I was diagnosed with having high blood pressure, my doctor immediately prescribed a synthetic angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor and put me on a regulation of regular monitoring. The purpose of which was to reduce my risk of heart disease or of having a cardio-vascular accident. Laudable as those aims are, it stuck me as odd that my condition was being managed, not grateful. I decided to find out more.

Amongst the wealth of information I discovered about hypertension, I learned three things each one of which has been duly confirmed as true by my doctor. This is what I learned:

# 1. Why there is no cure for hypertension:

I was being treated as if I was ill, but high blood pressure is not a disease or an illness. Because of this, there is no cure. The condition can only be managed to keep the statements as close to normal as possible to minimize the risk of other potentially serious conditions developing.

# 2.It is a symptom of an underlying health problem:

Hypertension is a vital bodily sign just like your pulse and your temperature. Blood pressures that are elevated for a continuous period could indicate an undering cause that needs to be investigated – just like running a fever indicating a health issue that needs to be treated.

To complicate matters, there are over 300 possible causes of hypertension. Few doctors have the time to systematically eliminate all the potential causes until the real cause is found. It is far easier and much less time-consuming for them to manage our condition than to find and treat the real problem.

Often, however, the undering cause can be linked to a combination of lifestyle choices such as a poor diet, sedentary lifestyle, smoking tobacco products and heavy consumption of alcohol.

# 3 Diet and exercise can reduce hypertension:

My doctor prescribed a synthetic ACE inhibitor to manage my condition and I was given some brief and very general dietary advice and recommended to become more active. My own research soon revealed that there were natural ACE inhibitors that were just as effective as the synthetic type I had been prescribed, but without the potential harmful side-effects.

For example, bananas contain a natural ACE inhibitor. Eating two medium sized-bananas a day has been shown to reduce hypertension by 10%; and, eating three a day halves the risk of having a stroke. Bananas are also a rich source of potassium and having the recommended daily amount of potassium can also help to lower high blood pressure.

Garlic also contains a natural ACE inhibitor, and cucumber and parsley are mild diuretics. There are many other foods that can help lower our high blood pressure. Keeping our bodies properly hydrated will also help as studies have shown that in dehydrated subjects, 6% of the water loss is from inside the cells in our body. That makes the smooth muscles lining our blood vessels less elastic and adds to our high blood pressure.

It soon became clear to me that diet was a critical factor in decreasing my hypertension.

Regular exercise, such as brisk walking, for 45 minutes to an hour a day can lower high blood pressure by up to 20 points and the benefits last almost 24 hours. That makes daily exercise essential.

I am not ill and I regard my high blood pressure not as an illness or a disease, but as an indication something is out of balance in my body. Combining a healthy diet with a more active and healthy lifestyle is, as I discovered, the key to reducing hypertension naturally.

4 Sex Tips on How To Give A Woman An Orgasm By Stroking Her Deep Vaginal Spot (Deep Explosions)

Women have a tremendously sensitive spot deep inside their vagina. It is located on the anterior or top surface about 8 inches inside them. Once men learn how to stimulate that deep vaginal or epicenter spot the woman will explode like never before.

This seldom-used pleasure spot can make her whole body rock and convulse if it is stroked correctly. There are four sex tips that will generally produce excellent results.

The first step, as in all steps in making love to a woman, is to make her feel comfortable, relaxed, and loved. Someone said: “men give love for sex and women give sex for love.” This is probably one of the truest things ever said in the lovemaking relationships.

It doesn’t have to be that way, however. Men and women can be partners in sharing their love, affection, and excitement with each other.

Whatever makes your woman feel safe, relaxed, and adored is what you need to do. Whatever it takes. If you’re not getting that desired effect then you’re not doing enough.

Women need constant attention and affection. Some ideas for giving her the right kind of attention include notes, phone calls, attentive texts, and small gifts. The key is to do something nice for her every day.

The second step is to first give her some great kissing and touching. You should know what really turns her on. Don’t just start with the main course…get her ready.

She might like her breasts stimulated, touched, and kissed. Many women like to be manually stimulated, especially on their clitoris and g-spot.

Don’t use the same approach every day. Surprise her! Make her feel wanted and desired.

The third step is to give her a clitoris orgasm. You can do that with your tongue, fingers, or your penis. Make sure that you go slowly, and treat it tenderly. It is very sensitive and a little touch goes a long way. Use intermittent strokes.

Don’t just concentrate on the tip of her clitoris. Gently tease and stroke her entire clitoris and even pay attention to the sides of her clit. She will soon start moaning with pleasure and may start to shake a little. Now you can increase your pressure and speed of strokes.

Take the appropriate time and attention with every step. Remember it is the journey to be enjoyed and not just the destination. She will know if you are rushing ahead just to have intercourse.

Once she has a nice orgasm you are ready for the fourth step.

You should get on a chair and have her straddle you. You should be face to face. Slowly push yourself in and have her lean back. You need to hit the upper surface and that of her vagina and in as far back as possible. This is why it can reached better when she leans back.

Start with slow strikes and concentrate on hitting the upper surface of her vagina. She can control it by the angle that she leans back and by positioning her hips forward or backwards. Literally, she can achieve her own pleasure.

Once she begins to move faster and faster, and become more and more excited, you should increase the speed and strength of your thrusts, as well. You’ll probably need some practice to maintain the proper angle and depth while thrusting fast and deep.

The epicenter climax is very strong and should rock her whole body. The man can hit this spot, eight inches inside her, by hitting her spot with his penis, vibrations traveling up her organ, or his hot emissions.

There are many combinations using the epicenter. The more that the man successfully can implement the more fun they will both have.

Are You Overweight? – A Few Tests To Find You Health Level

Nearly half of all adults and one-quarter of our children are over – weight. Being overweight can lead to serious health problems including high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels and an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, gallbladder disease, back and joint pain, and sleep disorders. In addition, women who are severely overweight (obese) are also more likely to develop breast, uterine, endometrial, and ovarian cancer. Obese men are at increased risk for colon and prostate cancer.

Being underweight can also cause health problems including bones that are thin and brittle, fertility difficulties, decreased ability to fight illnesses and infections, hair loss, and feeling cold all of the time.

For the sake of your health, you should aim for a healthy weight. A healthy body weight is not a single target number; it is the range in which the risk for weight -related health problems is lowest for a particular height and body build. There are several methods used to determine if a person’s weight is in the healthy range. The most common methods are the body mass index, hip- to-waist ratio, and waist circumference.

Body Mass Index

The body mass index (BMI) assesses body weight relative to height. You can calculate your BMI by taking your weight in kilograms and dividing it by your height in metres squared (BMI = kg/m2) or your weight in pounds divided by the square of your height in inches and multiplying that number by 704.5 (BMI = Ib/in2 x 704.5). But you don’t need to do the math yourself. You can check your BMI on a standard BMI table found in many pharmacies and medical offices. If you have access to the Internet, there are many interactive BMI calculators that will do the math for you after you enter your height and weight.

Once you know your BMI, you can use it to help determine how healthy your weight is in relation to your height.

BMI below 18.5 is considered underweight.

BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered the normal, healthy range.

BMI between 25 and 29.9 is considered over¬weight.

BMI over 30 is considered obese.

The BMI is only one indicator of a healthy weight. It has limitations and does not apply to children, pregnant women, or people with very muscular bodies. If your BMI falls outside what is generally considered healthy, ask your doctor what would be a healthy range for you.

Hip-to-Waist Ratio

Fat stored around the abdomen (the “apple¬shaped” body) raises the risk of cardiovascular disease more than fat stored in the hip area (the”pear-shaped” body), so the hip-to-waist ratio (HWR) can be a useful tool in determining your risk of weight-related health problems.

To calculate your HWR, measure your waist at the smallest part-generally a few centimetres above your navel-then measure your hips at the widest point, including your buttocks. Now divide your waist measurement by your hip measurement to determine your hip-to-waist ratio.

Women with an HWR greater than 0.8 and men with an HWR greater than 1 .0 have a higher risk of developing heart disease and type 2 diabetes and should try to reduce their abdominal body fat.

Waist Circumference

Another easy tool for determining if your weight is in the healthy range is the waist circumference (WC). A WC of 88 cm (35 in.) or more in women or 102 cm (40 in.) or more in men carries a higher risk for health problems.

One of the keys to achieving and maintaining a healthy weight is portion control. A number of studies have shown that many people under¬estimate the number of calories they consume daily, primarily because they don’t understand how much is in “a portion.” Here is a practical way of estimating the size of a portion of some common foods.

Top 3 Best Skin Care Oils That Will Leave Your Face Matte!

I love oils. I use them in my body, on my body, in my hair, etc. Oils are simply amazing and I usually stick to using only organic, cold-pressed, unrefined oils because I think these are the best as they retain many of the healing properties that are inherent in them which can benefit my skin, hair as well as internally if they are oils that can be consumed.

I have combination/oily skin and while using an oil on top of oil sounds crazy, it works for me. I have been doing this for years now whether I use an oil as a night cream or as a daily moisturizer or both.

Instead of drying out my skin as many moisturizers do that target combination/oily skin, which only ends up producing more oil, using oils to moisturize my skin seems to calm my oil glands and not drive them into overdrive to produce more oil because my skin isn’t stripped of oil.

I still get oily during the day though when I use an oil to moisturize but I still feel that using an oil is better for my skin. And when I use an oil as a night cream, most mornings I wake up to skin that just looks amazing.

While I have used many, many different oils and don’t mind whether they leave my face a bit shiny or not, the following three oils are the best skin care oils that I have tried so far that leave your skin looking matte although when you touch your skin, it will not feel dry but will feel moisturized. This is especially beneficial if you want to use an oil on your face but hate the greasiness that some oils can leave behind.

3 Best Skin Care Oils

1. Emu Oil

I only use this on my face because it is quite pricey for the amount you get. If I had to pick one overall winner, emu oil would be it although the others on my list are excellent too. When I use emu oil, I have more days when I stare at my skin in the mirror because of how smooth and amazing it looks!

Emu oil is definitely one of the best skin care oils that you can use and you will be amazed at how matte your skin will look while it will still feel moisturized. After you apply it, it is quickly absorbed into the skin to leave your skin looking matte.

One thing to remember about emu oil especially if you are trying to avoid animal products is that this oil is made from the emu bird which is native to Australia and New Zealand.

Emu oil is obtained after the meat is harvested from the birds, which means that this oil cannot be obtained if the bird is alive. All parts of the birds are used in some way. The skin or hide is commonly used in the fashion garment industry in Europe, the meat can be a substitute for beef while the oil has many healing properties when applied topically. It is not to be taken internally. Each bird can produce about 5 liters of the oil or so which then is taken through a refining process which varies from one manufacturer to another.

Try to use only the best quality which contains no pollutants or other ingredients are contained in the oil because if the refining process is excellent, there will be no need for any other ingredients including preservatives so the best oil to use should say 100 percent emu oil.

Emu oil is truly an amazing oil which contains many anti-fungal, antibacterial and anti-viral properties as well as anti-inflammatory properties which can help to heal skin which is why it is commonly recommended for those struggling with acne, psoriasis, eczema and many other skin issues and it is also commonly used on burn victims to help the skin heal.

It is also recommended for aging skin so I really love emu oil. When used in the hair it can help moisturize the hair and heal the scalp and in some circles it is recommended for treating hair loss!

2. Hemp Oil

While this is made from the Cannabis sativa plant which is more commonly used to make the recreational drug marijuana, using this oil unlike the drug will not cause you to fail any drug tests. There is a misconception that hemp contains THC which is the principal psychoactive constituent of the cannabis plant but this is not true.

I not only consider hemp seed oil one of the best skin care oils but I also use it in my hair and take it internally because it contains the perfect ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 essential fatty acids (EFAs) found in nature.

I usually add a tablespoon to my morning smoothie. These fatty acids as well as many other healing properties that are contained in hemp seed oil when taken internally, will help to promote general health and well-being while protecting you from various chronic diseases and conditions.

This is another of the best facial oils that will be quickly absorbed into the skin and leave the skin looking matte but feel moisturized. When you use hemp oil that is unrefined, cold-pressed and organic, you will have access to all the healing properties of this oil for your skin, hair, scalp and body.

3. Rose Hip Oil

This is another plant based oil that is one of the best skin care oils which will be quickly absorbed by your skin to leave it matte looking but moisturized feeling.

Rose hip oil is made from the seeds of rose bushes that are predominately grown in South America. It is one of the most beneficial skin care oils because it is full of vitamins, antioxidants as well as essential fatty acids (EFAs) which are known to correct dark spots, hydrate dry, itchy skin, reduce scars and fine lines as well as help treat many other skin issues.

Again, only use cold-pressed, organic, unrefined rose hip oil because it will be chock-full of these various healing properties.

These in my book are the best skin care oils that you can use to moisturize your skin without it looking greasy/oily or simply some of the best skin care oils period! If using an oil on your face sounds too much for you, you can add a drop or two to any moisturizer you use so that you still get some of the healing benefits contained in these oils.

Type 2 Diabetes Treatment – Effective Treatments to Avoid Diabetes Progression

Type 2 diabetes is often associated with obesity and the insulin concern is either the insufficiency of its production or the lack of response by the body cells to insulin functions.

Here, treatments involve the implementation of a proper diet, enough exercise, and drug medication. However, this type of diabetes is known to be progressive or can get worse and may reach a point where symptoms will have to be addressed by insulin injections.

Based on statistics, 95% of people with known medical records of diabetes are affected by the type 2. Nonetheless, both types 1 and 2 diabetes are considered as incurable and the treatment for both is aimed at controlling the blood glucose at a normal level.

Type 2 diabetes treatment however, is different from type 1 since exercise, proper diet and drug medications will suffice to control the symptoms.

Herewith are the generic names of the medications used as additional treatment for the type 2 diabetes; the list below can provide you with the possible side effects you may encounter as a diabetic patient:

1. Sitagliptin phosphate – This is an oral medication that may not affect your weight but has known indications to have sore throat, diarrhea or upper respiratory tract infection.

2. Exenatide – This medication is taken as an injection and may help as a weight loss medium. Its possible side effects are nausea or inflammation of the pancreas.

3. Pramlintide – Also received by the body through injection and can also help in weight loss. Possible side effect is nausea and the patient is cautioned not to take this simultaneously with other oral medications for diabetes. Avoid using the same syringe previously used for injecting insulin.

4. Pioglitazone – An oral medication known to cause decrease in triglycerides. Weight can be gained and there are indications that it can cause swelling, increase bad cholesterol (LDL). In some rare cases this medication has caused liver problems. It is important not to use this in type 1 diabetes if under diabetic ketoacidosis.

5. Rosiglitazone – This medication is taken orally and is known to increase good cholesterol (HDL). However, its use presents the possible risks of heart attack, swelling, weight gain, liver problems, increase in bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides.

6. Glimepiride – An oral medication that blends well with other diabetes medicines. Its other effects can cause lower blood sugar and weight gain.

7. Metformin – Taken orally and will not cause weight gain but can lead to a decrease in bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides. However, some side effect are nausea, diarrhea and the build up of harmful lactic acid.

8. Glipizide – One of the oldest known oral medication which unifies with other diabetes medications. Neverheless, weight gain and low blood sugar can be experienced.

There may be an abundance of medications available for type 2 diabetes, but still there is the possibility to develop hypoglycaemia or low blood glucose. In view of this, it is recommended to have a sugary drink or glucose tablets with you in case the need arises. Other remedial treatment includes an injection of glucagon, a hormone that immediately increases the level of blood glucose.

Trained educators who understand diabetes sufferers and well versed in education programs flexible in content and adaptable to the clinical and psychological needs of the patient can also contribute to the effective implementation of type 2 diabetes treatment.

How to Choose a Skin Firming Lotion

As you age, you will begin to notice changes in your skin. It's not just your face that you have to worry about revealing your age, but the skin all over your body. With age, elasticity is reduced and skin begins to sag. Collagen is the natural ingredient that keeps your skin looking firm but it's production decrees as you age.

Finding the best skin firming lotion to help with the tone of your skin is just as important as finding the right anti-aging products for your face. Skin changes in more ways than just by aging. For example, if you had oily skin in your teens, you may find that it is now dry. Sometimes we get into the habit of buying certain types of products without realizing that things have changed.

When looking for your best choice in any product, you should find one that is specifically formulated for the type of skin you have. It is also possible that the skin on your face is not the same as that on the rest of your body. If your skin becomes itchy and flaky, then it is probably dry. If you are prone to breakouts, especially on the back and across your shoulders, then your skin is probably oily.

If you are prone to irritations or allergic reactions, then you most likely have sensitive skin. The best products for this type of skin are those that are natural, or organic. That means that no chemicals were used in growing the ingredients used in them and none have been added during processing. Most people can use these products without having any type of reaction.

There are lots of ingredients added to lotions that are guaranteed to give you the best results and the firmest skin. They can contain everything from ginseng to things you can not pronounce. Some products contain collagen or collagen-like products that they claim will add elasticity back into your skin by using what your skin normally uses itself. The truth is, collagen molecules are too large to pass through the surface of your skin. Applying topically has no benefit whatsoever.

To find the best skin firming lotion for you and determine which ingredients are more likely to give you the results you're looking for, check out the skin firming lotion reviews and read what others have found to be helpful. If an ingredient is new, then this will provide you with the development and studies performed using it.

Once you've found the lot you're looking for, it is usually best to apply it at night. Letting it soak in while you rest will give your skin the longest exposure to the ingredients without rubbing it off.

Skin firming is an important aspect to stopping the signs of early aging. When it sags, it begins to form creases and lines that ever turn into deep wrinkles. Preventing this first step is imperative to having healthy, toned, firm skin.
