Can Bacterial Vaginosis Cause Sores?

There are a lot of different issues that can cause problems for women’s bodies, including the vagina. One of the most common issues that can occur is that of bacterial vaginosis. This is a solution that can cause a great deal of disruption in the vagina, and even force inflammation of the dermal tissue inside the vagina. Without treatment, the symptoms associated with this could become severe, and some may even see what look like bumps or sores. Could bacterial vaginosis cause sores? What if there’s a serious infection? There are a few things to understand about this, and what to do if you see sores open up in the pubic region.

Focusing on Bacterial Vaginosis

The first thing that you need to know is that this is an issue that affects millions of women worldwide. It’s a problem with a bacterial growth in the vagina, and it causes the pH balance to shift overall. It’s not something that is easy to get rid of, without some help. It’s imperative that one focuses on finding the symptoms and then treating it as they come through. Without treatment, the symptoms can get really severe, and multiply in some cases.

The symptoms associated with vaginosis include redness, itching, pain during sexual intercourse, abnormal spotting, discharge, and even a foul odor. These can be dormant for a time, and can come through again over time, causing a disruption in women’s overall health.

Can Bacterial Vaginosis Cause Sores?

This is the question that many people will no doubt have, and the short answer is, no. If there are sores on the vagina, then the problem is not vaginosis. But rather it may be vaginitis that is caused by the herpes simplex virus. That’s something that spreads through sexual contact, and will need a professional’s diagnosis and medication to heal properly. This is not the same as vaginosis, although there are some overlying symptoms that are similar.

Herpes is a sexually transmitted disease that can spread and cause outbreaks of sores, bleeding, and even lead to vaginosis, and vaginitis. These are inflammations of the vagina, and do not heal with traditional solutions. One will need to visit a doctor and get a prescription for a topical solution to clean the issue, and ensure that outbreaks are calmed before having any sexual contact with anyone.

Healing Bacterial Vaginosis

Vaginosis can be healed with topical solutions, and probiotics. The healing element here involves reducing the bad bacteria, and eliminating the bigger problem of pH balance. By healing both options, one can ensure that vaginosis is taken care of, and it will not return. To introduce more probiotics into the body, one can eat yogurt on a daily basis, and then use a topical solution to get rid of the vaginosis to start with. If these things do not help, or you suspect that sores are the result of something problematic, then it’s imperative to seek medical help, as a professional can assist with healing the problem with topical options, and even prevent recurring elements from forming. Sores, are not common with this issue at all.

How to Pass Kidney Stones Quickly – 3 Tips to Accelerate the Process!

If you have found this article, we can assume that you are looking for information on how to pass kidney stones quickly. Assuming that you are a person suffering from kidney stones, you know first-hand that the condition is extremely painful. Passing that stone is your number one priority so that you can put an end to the pain and suffering. This article will provide you with three useful tips to help accelerate the passing of your stone. If you follow these tips, it is even possible to pass your kidney stone in under 24 hours!

The first tip to help you pass your stones quickly is to drink lots of distilled water. Drinking a lot of distilled water will allow you to urinate more regularly giving you a higher chance of flushing the stone out. It is extremely important that the water is distilled. The reason is because stones are composed of different elements and minerals such as calcium, oxalate, phosphate, magnesium, uric acid, etc. Regular water can contain metals and impurities which can actually help the kidney stone grow larger and only aggravate the problem.

The second tip to help pass your stones quickly is to get some exercise. This may sound ridiculous, especially if you are in a lot of pain. However, lying down in bed all day really does nothing to help you pass your stone. The idea behind exercising is to get your body moving so that the stone can start moving down your urinary system a lot faster. If the pain is too much, just tone down the level of exercise.

The last and highly recommended tip is to consume a natural home remedy made specially to help pass your stone. There are a number of safe, natural home remedies out there that can really help cut down the time to pass a stone. Some remedies are more effective than others. They usually involve mixing ingredients that you can find at your local grocery store. The idea behind a home remedy is that by consuming it, you can breakdown or dissolve the stone making it easier to pass through your urine. For more information on a proven and highly effective home remedy be sure to visit the site below.

So now you know how to pass kidney stones quickly. The three tips given in this article should greatly help accelerate the time to pass your stone so that your pain and suffering is minimized. Lumineers Procedure is a Light Weight Treatment to Cure Dental Defects

Dental defects are something that can take away one’s social life. No one in this world is born with healthy teeth. In fact, some or the other procedures are required to correct the defects. Everybody wishes to have healthy teeth that can add glitters to their smile. It is for this reason that dentists have to deal with so many complexities, depending upon the condition of the patient’s teeth. Moreover, Lumineers procedure is the matter of an expert; so it is always better to contact a specialist rather than just a general dentist.

Lumineers are a type of porcelain veneers that help the dentists in curing the dental problems of the patient. They are strong and light weight that makes it easier for the patients to support them. It is generally said that Lumineers procedure simplifies the applying of porcelain veneers. There is not much a difference between the thickness of Lumineers and porcelain veneers. Lumineers are generally 1/3rd millimeter wide, while porcelain veneers are ½ millimeter in width. Lumineers procedure is so effective that it has the ability to cure chipped, broken, misshaped and crooked teeth. Dental defects can occur at any point of one’s life and Lumineers procedure is the best option for this purpose. Now, you don’t have to worry about your dental defects. Lumineers procedure is there for restoring your smile.

Type 1 Diabetes Is No Longer Classified As a Childhood Disease – It Now Affects People of All Ages

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease, which is a disease that attacks the body's own cells. In type 1 diabetes, the body attacks and destroys the beta cells of the pancreas, the cells that are responsible for producing a hormone called insulin. Insulin is the hormone that lowers blood glucose levels, maintaining a proper balance between glucose and insulin in the bloodstream. If these pancreatic cells are destroyed, an individual will not be able to produce insulin and as a result high blood glucose levels (known as diabetes) occurrence.

Diabetes is not curable and as with all autoimmune diseases, it has not yet been determined exactly what causes it. However, according to the University of Maryland School of Medicine, inheritance plays a significant part and there may be an association in the development of type 1 diabetes and a virus.

The American Diabetes Association estimates that there are one to two million people who have Type 1 Diabetes. This form of diabetes was once called Juvenile Diabetes, primarily affected young children between the ages of 10 to 14 years of age. However, in the 1980s, medical researchers concluded that this type of diabetes can affect people of all ages and there changed the name from Juvenile Diabetes to type 1 diabetes.

Symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes

Common Symptoms Associated with Type 1 Diabetes:

Increased thirst
Increased urination
Weight loss even with increased appetite
Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain
Absence of menstruation

Any of the above symptoms could be indicative of diabetes, and therefore a follow-up appointment with a physician is necessary for anyone exhibiting a combination of these symptoms. Physicians will perform tests (urine and blood tests) to determine if the early signs of this disease are present. If these tests are positive, doctors will then perform more testing to confirm type1 diabetes as a diagnosis.

Treatment of Type 1 Diabetes

The focus of the treatment plan for this disease is to control the high blood glucose levels. This will prevent a serious life threatening condition known as diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). Since people with type 1 diabetes are no longer able to produce the cells that produce insulin, this disease is not considered to be insulin-resistant, but it is insulin-dependent, and therefore will require injections of an artificial form of insulin. The type of insulin and the amount to be given to diabetics will be determined by their healthcare provider.

Weight control and exercise are also extremely important in the management of this disease. Therefore, a treatment plan that includes proper exercise along with a calculated caloric diet (such as a diet plan designed by the American Dietetic Association (ADA)) is imperative to maintain an optimum level of health with this disease. Physicians and dietitians will work together to determine the amount of calories a diabetic's diet will require based on present weight, goal weight and exercising program. Diabetics will also be provided diabetic educational classes to teach them how and when to test their own blood sugar, how to prepare and inject insulin, and what signs and symptoms to look for to help manage this disease.

Diabetes is a chronic disease, and as with all chronic diseases the continuous demands of proper treatment gets to be somewhat overwhelming. However, diabetics need to keep in mind that untreated diabetes destroys the major arteries of the body, resulting in kidney disease, blindness, loss of limbs, and often premature death. Diabetic must seek expert advice from their physician and allow the American Diabetes Association to provide them information as well as guidance in treatment of this disease.

Why Our Children Will Die Too Soon

After decades of advancements in modern day medicine, why are mortality rates increasing in 2016? Regrettably, today’s parents can expect to live longer lives than their children, a sad commentary on today’s lifestyle. Bottom line… the obesity epidemic amongst the children of America is shortening their lifespan, causing mortality rates to head in the wrong direction.

America’s first lady has been championing the anti-obesity cause in America’s schools. Of course public school officials should remove access to sugary high calorie beverages from our nation’s cafeterias. However, our children spend less than 20 percent of their time in the classrooms. What good does it do when a child can’t drink high calorie beverages in school when their home refrigerator is full of sugar laden beverages?

I recently heard someone ask “what was the most important thing we can teach our children?’ The answer was to teach our children how to be when they leave us. In other words, prepare them for life when they’re out on their own. Remembering my early years as a parent, I knew my daughters were learning about life “through my eyes”. I was always aware of the responsibility I felt as a role model. And that is what I would hope would be at the top of the job description list of every parent, as a caring teacher of our children.

For today since this is an article about obesity and mortality rates, this is my plea to the parents of young children. The national focus encouraging healthier diets in public schools has placed a spotlight on America’s obesity crisis. Indeed, inaction on the matter will have startling results, including a lifespan for members of our newest generation from two to five years lower than that for the previous generation, according to the New England Journal of Medicine. Think about this for a moment-with all the medical advances our society has produced; this generation’s children will have life expectancies less than their parents. The glaring culprit is in my mind, fast food (I have never seen a child turn down a french fry), video games, and other screen activities that discourage physical activity.

And, whenever we hear about the high incidence of obesity, we’re reminded of today’s diabetes epidemic. In the U.S., diabetes affects tens of millions of Americans, costs some $174 billion a year, and ranks as the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. And studies indicate that the greatest risk factor for type 2 diabetes is being overweight, a characteristic shared by 85 percent of diabetics. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, nine in ten cases of type 2 diabetes could be prevented through exercise, healthier diets, smoking cessation, and other healthy behaviors. Even modest weight loss has been found to help people with diabetes achieve and sustain blood glucose control and live healthier, longer, and more active lives.

Complications from diabetes, as reported by the Defeat Diabetes Foundation, are legion. Most troubling, in my opinion, is that diabetes sufferers are 65 percent more likely than their peers to develop Alzheimer’s disease. In addition, high proportions of people with diabetes incur damage to their nervous system, including carpal tunnel syndrome and impaired sensation in their feet or hands. And people with diabetes are two to four times more likely than others to develop heart disease and six times more likely to suffer a stroke. Not surprisingly, people with diabetes live an average of six fewer years than their nondiabetic peers. All this from a condition that more often than not can be prevented by reducing consumption of the sugar, carbohydrates, and processed foods so prevalent in the American diet.

Point being, parents of young children in the U.S. need to fully acknowledge and understand the health risks their children are facing today and in the years to come. They’re facing the challenge of being overweight and the increased chances of becoming a child diabetic. A young diabetic today will face a 65% greater risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease in their later years. Moreover, a diabetic lives six years less than non-diabetics. Diabetic children have a much greater health disparity than people without disabilities.

The message is very loud and clear. But it must be heard, understood, accepted and acted upon! The key to good parenting begins with loving our children yet we must take it one step further. We need to start with accepting that we control how long our children will live. We hold their mortality in the palm of our hands. When we pacify them with French fries and sugary drinks, WE ARE GUARANTEEING to help shorten their life span. They’ll die too soon and long after we’re gone. Is this the legacy you want to leave with your children? I hope not.

Popular Treatment Methods For Trochanteric Bursitis

As we age, the natural lubricants in our bodies that surround the joints tend to break down, and the sensitive areas can become inflamed and painful. One of the most common examples of this aging related medical condition is known as Trochanteric bursitis and it directly affects the hip joint. Limited movement is only one of the symptoms of this incapacitating condition, one that is also thankfully treatable.

Trochanteric bursitis will usually begin with feelings of tenderness and pain on the outside of the hip joint, and the skin may feel a bit warm to the touch. Over time, the pain increases to the point of occurring every time that joint is moved, through walking, standing or even sitting for lengths of time. The pain will range from mild discomfort to jarring jolts of chronic pain that seem to have no relief, not even when lying down. Any pressure on the affected hip will cause pain, especially when lying on your side.

The cause of this condition can be from a wide variety of reasons. Blows to that particular hip bone could begin the problem, but more often than not the true cause lies in simple aging. As we age, our bodies begin to lose its natural lubricants that are stored in tiny sacs surrounding each joint, called bursa. As the bursa begins to weakened, they can become irritated by the movement of the joint they surround, and become swollen. Once they swell, the movement of the joint puts additional pressure on them, causing sometimes excruciating pain.

The most common complaint of patients of a certain age is pain in the hip, most often caused by this form of bursitis. Left untreated, it can quickly become debilitating, every step causing chronic pain, and limiting the range of movement, day by day. The only effective course of treatment will include methods to alleviate the pain, and reduce the inflammation of the bursa surrounding the outside of the hip. Seeing your doctor is the first step to take.

Diagnosis and treatment

Once the doctor has run the necessary tests and taken x-rays to determine whether the cause of the pain is actually this form of bursitis and not something similar like tendonitis, the next step is usually prescribing anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce the inflammation of the bursa. After that, patients with this condition are then sent to physical therapy sessions, where they will be taught various exercises to strengthen the muscles around the joint, reducing the pressure on the bursa, as well as regaining some flexibility and movement. Surgery is usually only considered after all else has failed.

Typical Exercises

The typical exercises done through physical therapy to combat this condition will concentrate on the four muscle groups that surround the hip bone. These are the gluteal muscles, the illiotibial band that connects the hip joint, the hip flexor muscles, and the hamstring. Stretches designed to rebuild strength, and add flexibility to these areas will be the main focus of any exercises undergone during this phase of treatment.

The first such exercise is for the gluteal area, and is called the gluteal stretch. Lying on the back, the knee that aligns with the injured hip is slowly rolled back towards the opposite shoulder, slowly stretching that muscle. Next, a stretching exercise designed for the illiotibial band is performed standing up. This muscle runs from the side of the knee to the hip, so by extending the leg and crossing it gently to the opposite side, this band will become more flexible over time, and place less pressure on the inflated hip joint.

Simple forward and backward movements of the legs and knees, like those in gentle lunges will help to stretch both the hamstring, and the hip flexor muscles. All exercises to combat the effects of Trochanteric bursitis should be done safely, under the supervision of a physical therapist and if any pain is felt, stop them immediately, or risk worsening your condition.

Find Out Why All Natural Skin Care and Cosmetics Are the Rage!

Have you have heard the battle cry of all those who are campaigning for safer products which include all natural skin care products and cosmetics? If you have done any research on the additives and chemicals that are put in your skin care products, you have probably joined up with this group! By using all natural skin care products and cosmetics, you will never again worry about using products that incorporate hazardous and potentially carcinogenic ingredients.

I know that you thinking that the U.S. government has put into place an agency that watches over the skin care and cosmetic industry. But, did you also know that this agency is poorly regulated and is given very broad outlines for what they enforce (or don’t enforce)?

Now that you know how poorly these companies are regulated, are you still sure that your skin care and cosmetics are safe? Are you willing to bet your life on it? Are you sure? Read further if you have doubts that the skin care products you use are safe.

With all the renewed efforts of the campaign for safe products, we have more choices than ever before when it comes to our all natural skin care and cosmetics. Did you relize that some companies say they are using natural ingredients while they don’t? How can you protect yourself from these harmful effects?

Protecting Yourself

Before continuing to use any makeup or skin care, you should check first to see if any hazardous or possible carcinogenic ingredients are included in the formula. Every company is required to list the all the ingredients that are in the product on the label. If you are concerned about your health or the health of your loved ones, then please check out the ingredients of your cosmetics and skin care – even the natural ones. Check to see if all the ingredients are on the safe list developed by the Safer Cosmetic Organization.

Safer Cosmetic Organization

This group has a free website for your protection. Over the years science has been good to us. They are constantly researching and testing all of the products we use on a daily basis. This website puts all of science and a great database at your finger tips. Some of the products you use are already in the database and others have not been included. After looking in Safer Cosmetics’ database you find that your skin care product is not listed; you will have to enter the listed ingredients on that products label to find out if they have added toxic chemicals to their formula.

After going to this site myself, I made the decision to throw away all the products I was using that had adverse effects. The makeup that I thought was good, safe and harmless, was rated 7. I was deeply troubled when I found out that my makeup contained harmful materials and possible carcinogens. I had been using a product on my skin (which absorbs over 60% of everything put on it) that included possible carcinogens and hazardous ingredients. Do I really want cancer? Not me. And, neither do you!

All Natural Skin Care Products and Cosmetics

Are you ready to make the switch to all natural cosmetics and skin care? These products are made with ingredients from nature. Most natural skin care products contain only phyto-collagen products. They provide for a more radiant glow and tighter, firmer, more youthful skin.

All Natural Skin Care & Cosmetics for Problem Skin

If you are having problems with your skin, it could be the products that you are using. Try using all natural cosmetics and skin care and see if you can tell the difference. I am betting within two weeks, you will be able to see and feel the difference. I have found some products that actually improve the skin after just one application.

More Youthful Appearance

If you are interested in a more youthful appearance, then all natural cosmetics are the only route to take. And on top of the firm, smooth skin you will be getting, these products are completely safe and toxin free.

All Natural Skin Care and Cosmetics

There are many companies that offer natural cosmetics and skin care. Some products are better than others so read and research before you purchase them. Remember that plant based products are better and your skin absorbs them more readily. Another ingredient that you may want to look for is glycerin. Many things dissolve better in glycerin so the absorption rate is much higher.

After using natural cosmetics for a short time, I know that you too will be as impressed as I am. I have noticed a radiance and glow that was not on my face before. You too will enjoy the benefits of going all natural!

Your Pets and Your Allergies

My boyfriend and I decided to adopt a cat a year and a half ago; and despite the fact that I have allergies, living with a cat has not seemed to affect them too bad. However, the key to living with a pet while keeping your allergies at bay takes a little bit of work. For instance, cats are notorious for shedding hair. Even if you own a short haired cat, short haired cats are no different than long haired cats; they both shed. Shedding can be made worse by the fact that many homes and apartments are made with wall to wall carpeting. Not only is carpeting a nightmare for those with allergies, but when you throw pets into the mix, it can really drive you crazy.

The first step to cutting down on allergies while owning a pet comes down to grooming. As humans, every day, most of us brush our hair. By doing so, we are keeping our hair healthy and free from tangles, etc. Well, the same goes for your pet. While you may not need to brush your pet's coat every day, surely brushing your pet's coat every couple of days to once a week will help to cut down on the amount of pet dander (the thing that is making your allergies react) in your home . Contrary to popular belief, it is not your dog or cat's hair that is the problem. Rather, it is the dander- the stuff that is on their skin underneath their hair that is often aggravating to those who suffer from allergies. In order to cut down on this, you may want to consider giving your pet a regular bath. If your pet is finicky about bathing, make sure that you invite a friend over to help you bathe your pet or recruit the help of a spouse. If you do not want to be bothered with it at all and do not mind spending a little money, you could always take your pet to be groomed at a local pet store or by your vet.

Vacuums will become your best friend if you suffer from allergies. This is why it is so incredibly important to make sure that you take the time to really research a good vacuum. The vacuum should have a great reputation for it's power and ability to suck things up from a carpet or hard surface. Because pets shed and are more than likely going to be rolling around on your carpet, you want to make sure that whatever vacuum you decide to purchase will be up to the challenge of removing as much of the dirt, dander and other allergens from your home environment. Also, you want to make sure that the vacuum you purchase has a hepa filter. Hepa filters are special kinds of filters that specifically filter out dander and other allergens, so making your home a cleaner place to live.

When vacuuming, make sure you time it so that you do it when you are getting ready to leave somewhere. While your vacuum may be sucking up a lot of things, keep in mind that it is also stirring up quite a bit of dust as well as whatever else is in your carpet. Therefore, it is best to wear a mask while vacuuming and then be prepared to quickly vacate the premises once the vacuum is turned off and put away.

The Top Three Goals of Spiritual Recovery

Numerous lights await the person who endured a dysfunctional or abusive upbringing, yet bores through the tunnel of recovery to reach them.

Powerless, devoid of understanding, and justifying his parent’s detrimental treatment of him because of his own alleged deficiencies, he reacted in ways that ensured his survival, causing his brain to rewire itself into survival tactic pathways so that he could negotiate an adult world he erroneously believed was the equivalent of his home-of-origin one.

Unable to function in such a debilitated state for long, however, but not entirely understanding his personal restrictions and fears, he may seek help and answers in a spiritual twelve-step program, enabling him to progressively regain what his upbringing forced him to lose, such as trust, a reconnection with positive, genuine feelings to enhance his life experiences, a re-established link with a Higher Power of his understanding, and, finally, a reknit with the rest of humanity, so that he no longer perceives himself to be on the outside, looking in.

Three aspects, all of which are interconnected, can be considered the goals of such a program.

The first of these is the determination of a person’s own interests, abilities, strengths, talents, and aspirations in life.

“By moving beyond survival,” according to the Adult Children of Alcoholics textbook (World Service Organization, 2006, p. 429), “we realize that lost dreams or wishes can re-emerge. The return of dreams is a signal that we are continuing our separation-from-family work. We learned… that we had internalized many aspects of our parents’ thinking and behaving. We had no real identity or dreams separate from them. Even if we had moved far away, our parents and their dysfunction still lived inside us.”

Indeed, adopting his parents’ own derailed life plan can be considered an example of a parent-child boundary loss, but his motivation for doing so may have been an effort to please them and a last-ditch attempt to attain their love.

The second goal is to become his own autonomous person beyond the boundary-poor projections, which caused him to subconsciously adopt his parent’s image of him by means of their distorted mirrors.

“Often one or more (family) members are dysfunctional in some capacity so other members take on their roles,” according to Dr. Charles L. Whitfield in his book, Healing the Child Within (Health Communications, 1987, p. 48). “Everyone learns to mind everyone else’s business one way or another. What results is a group of family members who are enmeshed, fused, or have invaded or even overtaken one another’s boundaries.”

“These enmeshed or fused relationships are generally unhealthy, closed, rigid, and tend to discourage the fulfillment of one another’s needs and rights,” he continued (p. 49). “They tend not to support the mental, emotional, and spiritual growth of each person. Little or no ebb and flow of closeness and distance is allowed.”

One of the major manifestations of a dysfunctional, alcoholic, and/or abusive upbringing is codependence, which can be defined as “a disease of lost selfhood.”

“The origin of codependence,” according to Whitfield in another of his books, Co-Dependence: Healing the Human Condition (Health Communications, 1991, p. 22), “is primarily due to having grown up in a troubled, unhealthy, or dysfunctional family.”

“Wounded themselves,” he later states (p. 27), “the child’s parents feel inadequate, bad, and unfulfilled. They project those charged feelings onto others, especially onto their spouse and their vulnerable children… They look outside themselves to feel whole.”

“When we focus so much outside of ourselves, we lose touch with what is inside of us,” he wrote (p. 3): “our beliefs, thoughts, feelings, decisions, choices, experiences, wants, sensations, intuitions, unconscious experiences, and even indications of our physical functioning… “

Identification of and reconnection with personal feelings is an important aspect of self-recovery.

“Since the parents and other members of such families tend themselves to be unable to listen to us, to support us, and to nurture, accept, and respect us,” he wrote in the Healing the Child Within book (p. 77), “we often have no one with whom we can share our feelings. The emotional pain hurts so much that we defend against them by… various unhealthy ego defenses… Doing so allows us to survive, although at a price. We become progressively numb. Out of touch. False. Codependent.”

The importance of feelings in a recovery program is not to be underestimated.

“(They) act as indicators or gauges at how we are doing at the moment and over a stretch of time” he concludes (p. 78). “They give us a sense of mastery and aliveness.”

Tantamount to the family separation needed to create a condition of autonomy is the replacement of a person’s physical parent with his virtual one-that is, of himself.

“By reparenting ourselves with gentleness, humor, love, and respect,” according to the Adult Children of Alcoholics textbook (p. 295), “we find our child within and true connection to a Higher Power.”

“(But) separation,” it also states (p. 430), “does not mean we are abandoning our family. It means we will have a separate identify. We will know where our feelings end and their feelings begin.”

That “inner child,” and releasing the shackles that once served as a protective sanctuary to retreat to, but later represented a prison, is the third major goal of recovery and facilitates the other two.

Deeply buried in a person’s psyche is the survival-sparked need for it, the long forgotten cocoon of the true self.

“The cause of codependence,” according to Whitfield in his Co-Dependence: Healing the Human Condition book (p. 27), “is a wounding of the true self to such an extent that to survive, it had to go into hiding most of the time, with the subsequent running of its life by the false or codependent self.”

Awaiting a person somewhere along his road to recovery is the rediscovery of his true or authentic self and its treasure chest of intrinsic worth, value, dreams, purposes, and love, the location of his personal direction, which was replaced early in life with his parents’ judgmental derailing. It is here where his critical inner parental voice exists and can now be replaced with his own affirming one.

The goal, in the end, of a spiritual twelve-step program is the reversal of the detrimental upbringing that caused an adult-child to lose himself very early in his life’s journey and replace it with the survival-necessitating false one.

Your Unique Mug

In the office, people have their favorite beverage drinks which range from tea, coffee or water. All of them tend to have special mugs for whatever they take each day.

The habit of getting something from home to be used in the office is a good thing because it connects you to the warmth of home. For this reason, you would be rushing back home as soon as your duties are done in the office.

Then there are those who like to keep coffee or tea in such cups all the time in order to keep them alert and energized every time they are at work. That is why you need a very unique mug that will meet all your needs.

Mugs are becoming more and more personalized in these days of modern technology. You would see mugs that have jokes written all over them, even if some of these funny pieces are slightly over-board.

Some of the writings on such a mug seen in the office recently read, "This is my mood today," and it has a picture of a frowning, smiley, or a face laughing at others.

Then there was this one made in the shape of a water closet, or toilet. In the place of a curved handle, it is easy to hold your toilet mug where there is the curve that connects the toilet bowl and the drain. What a natural, although lousy joke, but it is all meant to get people to laugh.

The mug that is dark in color is best suited for coffee or even dark tea. Office mugs can take a more personalized form when you begin to use the ones with pictures or folded phrases and sayings.

Another method that some people use in relation to the issue of bringing personal mugs to the office is to rotate the different mugs each time to create a mood change, emotions, or feelings. It remains that whatever you use as a mug in the office, always remember to bring one that can be suitable for other visitors who might come.

How To Take Stunning Portraits

There are a few specific ways to discover how to take portraits of people, and I'm going to share some of those tips with you today. Lighting, composition, camera settings and your lens are the right places to start when you begin to take portraits of people. Lighting and your lens are the first two considerations.

Without good lighting and a specific portrait lens, your portrait photography can become less than stunning. It is important that you take note of this list I am about to give you so that your portrait photography lasts forever.

Photographing the eyes, skin tone and facial expression are the key essentials that make up a good portrait of somebody. The beauty about portrait photography is that you can do it as a candid photo as opposed to a portrait shot in a professional photography studio. Someone's cheery facial expression combined with high-quality lighting and a good lens can be a key ingredient in successful portrait shots.

You do not always require a studio to take high-quality portraiture. You can shoot portraits outdoors, or inside even if you do not have a professional photography studio. I have taken many photographs of clients in many assisted situations. They have all been slightly different portraits but they are still portrait photography. A different place does not signify they are not portraits.

So what are these diverse places and situations? I have shot photos of people on the stage, collecting their citizenship certificates from the mayor, reading underneath a tree in a garden, celebrating their birthday, taking their vows of marriage and smiling at their loved one when they did not think they were having their photograph taken. All these separate situations make up portrait photography. So let's begin …

What Is The Best Lighting for Portrait Photos?

Let's start with the most significant thing in portrait photography. If you want to discover how to take good portraits then this is where you begin. Lighting will either make or fracture your portrait photo. You need exactly the right amount of lighting to highlight the human being you're creating photos of.

Lighting also has an effect on mood and feeling. When you opt for lighting that is soft and dim this may create a more romantic feeling. When you go for lighting that is very bright and high in contrast, this is ideal for things like sports portrait photography. If you want to create a romantic sentiment in your shots then think about softening your light. Creating gentle light can make portrait photography more interesting.

Choose the lighting that is well-matched to the situation. Wedding photography that has filtered lighting can work very well. However if you are photography some kids in the park, then you may want to choose a bright and colorful lighting effect. Something that is vivid and vibrant can represent happiness and liveliness. A sense of fun can be enhanced by the right lighting.

So what about situations where lighting is poor? I have been in many situations before where it has been almost no lighting and I have not been able to use the flash. In this situation you may want to turn your ISO up to the highest setting. If you can use your flash then do it.

Do not stand too close to the person you're photography and fire the flash at the same time. Depending on what flash that is on your camera you may be able to have different intensities of flash light being fired. Or if you have flash built into the camera you may not be able to control the intensity of the light. This depends on the camera on the sort of flash you have. If you stand too close to the person you are going to overexpose the features on their face, produce small, vivid areas of light on their cheekphones and nose. No matter how hard you try it will not be able to remove it easily in Photoshop.

If you are creating photos of someone at a party at night-time, and the flash is the only source of lighting you have, then make sure you stand back from the person. Any closer than 3 meters may overexpose the person. You also do not want to blast them with an eye full of extreme, dazzling light. I prefer to shoot with a long telephoto lens and use the flash simultaneously. I like to stand back and zoom in, and increase my flash up to the maximum intensity. Whenever I've done this I have found that I have a nice light over the person's features.

Bouncing the flash is a great method to enhance portrait photography. When you bounce the flash you basically twist the head of the flash up to the ceiling, or towards a wall, and allow the light to reflect from that source back to the person. Bounced light is softer and a lot better for portraits. It is a wonderful way to get better portraits at weddings, birthdays and celebrations.

Always remember that your lighting must be well balanced. You need soft lighting over your person's face to create an appealing portrait photo. Even if you have the best lens and camera in the world, it will not help you at all unless you have the light spread evenly across the people features. This emphasizes the eyes and smile.

Color Portrait Photography

Color portrait photography covers many things. Wedding photography is a classic example of this. As I have spoken about your lighting and things that you can do with your lighting, I will now cover color.

The secrets and techniques to color portrait photography are of course your lighting but is also color matching. For example, if you want to generate a beautiful color portrait then you would not only expose the light in a good way, but you would make sure that the colors match. This is a big secret that photographers have up our sleeves. Let me explain.

Color portrait photography is successful when all the colors complement each other within the one image. If you want to create a color portrait that is striking then choose colors that go well with the person's skin tone. Let's take the example of a woman with blond hair, light skin and green eyes. If you were to dress her in black it would not look good on her at all. However earthy Greens, light pink, blue and purple, will suit her complexion. Someone who has black hair, dark skin and brown eyes may be suited to other colors. They may look fantastic in white, black or other different colors.

The secret that portrait photographers use when creating beautiful portraits are "color matching" when recommend what to wear. If you're photographing many people in your portrait photography then it always looks nice to dress people in either the same or very similar colors. A family photographed on the beach might look nice all dressed in white, blue and yellow. It does not have to be the same white, blue and yellow, but if you keep with the same color theme then you will begin to create stunning portraits.

Camera Settings for Portraits- Accurate Camera Settings For Portraits Depends On Your Lighting.

It is rather tough to inform you what the ideal camera settings for portraits really are. You see digital camera settings are the way they are because of the lighting that you have to work with. If I advise you that F-14 and a shutter speed of 1/80 is the best setting then your portrait shot could possibly be misleading if you are photographing people at night time with the flash, for example.

However I can tell you that your aperture can have a huge impact on your portrait photography. If you are creating photos of someone close close and want to blur the background then I would support you to look at a big f stop. F 4 might be a better place to start. When you zoom into someone's face and you use a big aperture, you may see that the background is totally blurry. This works very well when there are distracting subjects in the environment that you want to remove. It works very well when you just want to capture on the person's eyes.

So what about shutter speed? Again it depends on the lighting you have to work with. It also depends on if you are taking candid portraits or whether you are shooting posed portraits. The difference will be the amount of speed and movement. Candid portrait can at times be tricky in low light and this can create difficulty in getting the precise shutter speed. The camera may be telling you that it wants you to slow down the shutter speed. However, you know that if you do, you will completely blur the person. And that may not be ideal for the setting.

If you are photographing your portrait photo in studio lighting then these things are not going to be a big setback. You will always still need to watch your shutter speed because even the smallest movement at a slow shutter speed can create out of focus pictures. Decide on the shutter speed that is quite fast so that you will not have to be anxious about blur from any movement.

So as you can see camera settings of portraits is not a black-and-white topic, excuse the pun. You need to work out the right camera settings to your portraits based on the lights but you have to work with. As I mentioned portrait photography covers a wide range of areas and conditions so it is ideal that everything is well exposed and that you have the exact shutter speed to match the movement.

Which Is the Right Lens for Portrait Photography?

Being a professional photographer means I have many lenses to choose from. I have many lenses because it gives me the ability to be adaptable in each situation. This does not mean that you have to rush out and acquire different lenses yourself. I recommend trying out ports with one lens so that you get comfortable with how your lens works with portrait shots.

Different lenses give different effects. A 50 mm fixed focal length lens is a good focal length for portrait photography. You can get up close to someone without making their nose look too huge as a wide angle can sometimes do. In fact I suggest staying away from wide-angle lenses for your portrait photography. You have to be able to get a good head and shoulders shot, medium crop or good vertical length shot. You can achieve this using a couple of lenses.

I guess I would have to admit that my favorite portrait lens is the 70 to 200 mm cannon telephoto lens. I am a Canon user however I have used Nikon in the past and found both of them excellent. Nikon also has a 70 to 200 mm telephoto lens that I found excellent. At this focal length you can take remarkable candid portraits and you can also use this lens to take clear studio shots too. You almost certainly do not need a focal length that is so long if you are working in the studio. Your 50 to 70 mm range will probably do quite fine.

Why do I like 70 to 200 mm? Basically because it gives me the versatility of zooming in quite close up to someone and it also gives me the flexibility to take candidate shots in social situations. I find the flexibility and adaptability of this focal range very clever indeed. I know photographers that take a couple of cameras to a wedding because they have numerous lenses that they want to utilize. I find the 70 to 200 mm range does the job just fine.

These are pricey lenses. This is a professional capability lens so I propose becoming very familiar with the lens you have before buying something like this. I also have a 24 to 105 mm lens that works very skilfully for portrait photography too. I only prefer to use the 70 to 200 mm as many times I do candid shots. Having that additional focal length of 200 mm lets me to get a little bit closer than I could with a 105 mm.

I have also taken ports with the 50 mm lens that have worked superbly. However I can not really do this in a candid situation. I simply can not get in directly enough without being noticed. When I have done animal portraits and ordinary human portraits, I found that the 50 mm prime lens was a clear lens to use. If someone knows they're going to have their picture taken then they will definitely sit still for you. The 50 mm prime lens is sharp and clear for posed portraits up close.

In a nutshell I guess I would have to say that it is dependent on the sort of portrait photography that you are doing, as to what lens to use. Try and acquire a lens that works perfectly for the type of portraits you take.

Herbal Colon Cleansing – An Alternative To Colonic Irrigation

If you haven’t heard of colonic irrigation or colon hydrotherapy by now then the chances are you have been hibernating for the last couple of years. Cleansing your colon has become the “in” thing to do, male or female, young or old. Previously the domain for celebrities such as Princess Diana; walk into any clinic, international hospital or spa and you are likely to be met by advertisements espousing the benefits of detoxing your body through colon cleansing.

However, some people don’t like the idea of lying on a table with a pipe up their backside, however effective and fashionable it may be! Whilst I am not questioning the benefits of colonic irrigation, coffee enemas and the like are not for everyone!

So what are the alternatives?

A few years ago, whilst flicking through a women’s health magazine, an illustration of a typical colon (for someone who eats a standard western diet) was enough to pack me off to the pharmacy to check out their range of colon cleansing products. Here I found shelves heaving with a myriad of natural herbal supplements and teas which profess to do the job.

Using a Herbal Colon Cleansing supplement is both simple to implement and maintain, not to mention far more convenient than regular trips to a clinic for colonic irrigation (although Do It Yourself kits are now available.) There is also a wide range of herbs to choose from which these days are easily available both from high street stockists and online. Because there are generally no harmful side effects they are also very safe, providing of course, you follow the instructions on the label. However just as a precaution, if you are taking prescription or over the counter drugs it pays to check with your doctor for possible complications, as certain medications may not mix well with some supplements.

Why should I cleanse my colon?

Anyone with a stressful lifestyle or years of eating a typical western diet of low fibre, high fat, sugar products, white flour, microwaved and deep fried foods is likely to have a considerable build up of toxic waste material in the colon. Such diets reduce our colon’s efficiency, and consequently our waste products harden and become clogged in our digestive system.

Our colons take what we eat and separate the usable products from our digested food and put them back into our bloodstream. Any waste material should then be eliminated quickly but the problem arises when toxins and bacteria build up through a sluggish or blocked colon, causing them to leak back into our body, poisoning our system. Put simply, the greater the toxins in our body, the more likelihood of developing disease. Constipation, IBS, bad skin, fatigue, joint pain and unwanted weight gain could all be possible symptoms of a clogged colon.

As cleansing your colon is today’s hype many of us have heard horror stories of how much and how heavy this waste product build up can be. What is often considered a “pot belly” or “spare tyre” could actually be a distended colon from the accumulation of years of toxic waste. This is why some people, after successfully cleansing their colon, not only feel a lot healthier but often lose a considerable amount of weight!

Colon Cleansing Herbs

There are numerous colon cleansing herbs available on the market and whilst all the commercial herbal supplements basically claim do the same job it pays to do a bit of research to find out which ones are right for you. It’s important to educate yourself and possibly consult with a medical practitioner, as it useful to bear in mind that what works for one person may not work as successfully for you. Depending on your budget and own particular diet and lifestyle, some herbal formulas will be more suitable than others. For example, if your diet is low in fibre then you may benefit from taking a Pysllium supplement to provide you with the fibre you need.

  • Pysllium is a widely used natural cleansing agent and very effective due to its high fibre content. It acts as a lubricant for the colon, allowing waste to pass through without obstruction. Very tough on uncooperative bowels, Pysllium adds bulk to waste matter and helps maintain regular bowel movements. It can also relieve hunger pangs and ease chronic symptoms like diarrhea and colitis. Husk of psyllium can be drunk in teas, water or milk, it is also a common constituent in herbal supplements.
  • Linseed or Flax Seeds cleanse the colon and promote overall good health by cleansing the liver. It aids digestion and becomes a soft jellylike substance which assists in moving material through the bowel.
  • Slippery Elm helps to normalize stools in the colon and softens any backlog of dried waste. It helps with both constipation and diarrhea and sooths stomach inflammation.
  • Dandelion is another excellent natural herb which cleanses both the colon and the liver.
  • Liquorice Root is also a popular ingredient in pill and mixture supplements, a natural detoxifier which acts as a laxative.

Whatever colon cleansing herbs you choose, be patient. It may take days, weeks or even months before you reap all the benefits of ridding your body of its unwanted waste. Whilst one person’s body may respond quickly, for another it may take longer. All herbal formulas should be used in moderation in order to prevent dehydration from too many bowel movements and it s important not to exceed the dose on the label.

Natural herbal supplements will provide you with a simple, natural alternative to colonic irrigation. It requires some research and experimentation to see what works best for you, but they can all be conveniently integrated into your diet. By embarking on a colon cleansing regime you should feel a marked improvement in your general health and wellbeing, as you start to eliminate the poisonous toxic waste from your body.

Keeping Your Heart And Brain Healthy

Do you know that there is a connection between homocysteine and your heart and brain health?

Homocysteine is a type of amino acid (building block of protein) that is produced by the human body during protein metabolism. It is not obtained from the diet. The body makes homocysteine from the amino acid methionine in the diet via a multi-stage process. After that, the body uses folate (vitamin B9), vitamin B6, and vitamin B12 to recycle homocysteine back into methionine or convert it into another amino acid cysteine.

At normal levels, homocysteine is either dangerous nor unhealthy. But when homocysteine is not properly metabolized, it builds up inside the body and acts like a toxin. Elevated homocysteine levels cause infection to rise, damage the lining of the arteries, and increase the risk of blood clot formation, resulting in blockages.

A clot inside the blood vessel is called a thrombus. A thrombus can travel in the bloodstream and get stuck in the lungs (a pulmonary embolism), in the brain (a stroke), or in the heart (a heart attack). People who have abnormally high levels of homocysteine are at an increased risk for coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, and abnormal cholesterol levels.

Many studies have shown that elevated levels of homocysteine is detrimental to the brain too. Elevated homocysteine damages DNA and induces cell death, which leads to brain atrophy or shrinkage in dementia. It increases the risk of Alzheimer's disease and other mental abnormalities such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.

What Causes High Homocysteine

Most adults do not know that they have elevated homocysteine as there may not be any symptoms. A simple blood test can determine your status. However, doctors do not routinely order the test without patients have a family history of heart disease. Here, you may want to ask your doctor about it.

  • Optimal level is below 8 umo / L.
  • A reading above 10 umo / L is considered high and is associated with increased heart attack risk.
  • Above 15 umo / L, it is a medical condition called hyperhomocysteinemia. At these levels, the prevalence of dementia, along with cognitive and functional impairment is almost double.

High homocysteine may be caused by a number of factors –

Vitamin deficiencies

To maintain normal levels of homocysteine, the body requires folate, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12 obtained from the diet. Deficiencies in these vitamins may lead to increased levels.

People born with the MTHFR (methyletetrahydrofolate reductase) gene mutation produce less than the enzymes that are normally used for metabolizing homocysteine. This metabolic disorder is like an enzyme defect and is passed from parents to children. It is estimated that up to 30-50 percent of the population may carry a mutation in this MTHFR gene. The severity and type of symptoms vary from person to person depending on how much fewer enzymes a person produces as a result of the MTHFR mutation. The reduction may range from 10-30 percent to as much as 70-90 percent.

Individuals with the MTHFR mutation are likely to have higher homocysteine levels, increased infection and risk of heart disease, diabetes, birth defects, difficult pregnancies, anxiety and depression, fatigue, and an impaired ability to detoxify.

How to find out if you have the MTHFR mutation? These days, genetic testing can be easily done with a saliva test kit ordered from . It is inexpensive and non-invasive. You collect the saliva sample at home and mail it back to the lab.

Stress-induced neurotransmitters – epinephrine and norepinephrine – are metabolized in the liver via a process that also uses folate. As a result, chronic high stress may result in a depletion of this critical B vitamin that is key to maintaining normal levels of homocysteine.

Too much animal protein

High consumption of animal protein, especially unhealthy processed red meats like cold cuts, bacon, and canned meats from factory-farmed animals, may lead to high homocysteine levels.

Excess caffeine

Drinking too much coffee and energy drinks may deplete the body of vital B vitamins, which are essential for normal homocysteine metabolism.

How To Keep Homocysteine Levels In Check

Improve Your Diet

High homocysteine not only increases inflammation, but also makes it harder for the body to detoxify the accumulated chemicals, heavy metals, and toxins. Therefore, by eating healthy foods, you can lessen the burden of a bad diet imposes on your body.

  • Reduce intake of inflammatory foods such as sugar, deep-fried foods, processed meats, meats from factory-farmed animals, conventional dairy, vegetable oils, trans fats, and preservatives. Eat mostly organic, unprocessed foods.
  • Get plenty of antioxidants to combat the infection by having more vegetables of different colors or drinking vegetable juice daily.
  • Cut back on caffeine and alcohol. Too much caffeine increases homocysteine levels and alcohol is inflammatory.
  • Focus on healthy fats such as coconut oil and milk, olive oil, grass-fed butter and meats, wild-cage Alaskan salmon, sardines, avocado, nuts and seeds.
  • Increase consumption of fermented foods as the supply of good bacteria can help reduce inflammation in the body. Examples include fermented vegetables like sauerkraut, kimchi, and pickles, unsweetened yogurt and kefir, kombucha, and tempeh.

Get Enough Folate

Folate, also known as vitamin B9, is naturally found in foods such as beans, legumes, liver, spinach, asparagus, avocado, broccoli, and beets.

Folate primarily helps the body make new cells, specifically by playing a role in copying and synthesizing DNA. It also helps the body utilize vitamin B12 and amino acids. If you do not have the habit of eating vegetables everyday, you may run the risk of a folate deficiency. Symptoms include –

  • elevated homocysteine levels
  • anemia
  • poor immune function
  • poor digestion
  • ulcers on the tongue
  • changes in hair or skin pigmentation
  • birth defects

Folic acid is the synthetic form of folate found in lower quality supplements and "fortified foods" such as orange juice and refined grains.

For those individuals with the MTHFR mutation, your bodies will not be able to convert folic acid into folate. If you have been taking folic acid supplements and your homocysteine levels are still high, this may be the reason. Therefore, you should either get more folate from the diet or take the active form of folate supplements instead. Look for 5-MTHF (5-methyl-tetrahydrofolate) on the label. Avoid products that say "folic acid".

Have Adequate Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 is also known as pyridoxine. Best food sources are turkey breast, chicken breast, grass-fed beef, pinto beans, chickpeas, avocado, pistachio, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, and amaranth grain.

Vitamin B6 is needed to –

  • regulated homocysteine levels within the blood
  • maintain healthy blood vessels
  • manage blood pressure and cholesterol levels
  • support brain function and mood
  • help treat anemia
  • protect eye and skin health
  • prevent or reduce symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis

For people living in the western world, it is rather rare to have a vitamin B6 deficiency as most people consume enough calories and are not experiencing malnourishment.

Get Enough Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12, also called cyanocobalamin, is found mostly in animal foods such as beef and chicken liver, seafood, and meats.

  • For this reason, vegans and plant-based eaters are more likely to develop a vitamin B12 deficiency. Unfortunately, algae foods, such as blue-green algae, which are popular among vegans are not very absorbable source of vitamin B12.
  • Elderly people who have impaired digestion are also more susceptible for deficiency because they tend to produce less stomach acid that is needed to convert vitamin B12 properly.
  • Other high risk groups include smokers, alcoholics, those with anemia, and digestive disorders such as celiac disease, Crohn's disease, gastritis, or other stomach and small intestinal disorders.

Vitamin B12 benefits your mood, energy level, memory, heart, skin, hair, digestion, hormonal balance and more. Therefore, a deficiency can show up in many different symptoms, such as chronic fatigue, mood changes, poor memory, joint pain, muscle aches, heart problems like palpitations, or feeling run down.

As a supplement, vitamin B12 can be taken in tablet form, in drops that you place under the tongue, or in oral spray form. Sometimes, seniors do better with drops and oral sprays as they have trouble absorbing the vitamin from the stomach.

All B vitamins are water-soluble, that means the body has the ability to flush out any excess through the urine. Here, B vitamins are considered safe and non-toxic.

Maintain A High Omega-3 Status

Studies have shown that homocysteine-lowering B vitamins require healthy omega-3 blood levels to derive the cognitive benefits. When omega-3 levels are low, the B vitamins have no effect.

Therefore, to protect your brain from premature aging, make sure you have enough B vitamins and omega-3s. Eat several servings of mercury-free fish such as wild Alaskan salmon, sardines, and herrings every week, or take a high quality omega-3 supplement daily.

Exercise Regularly

Regular physical activity helps lower inflammation, manage stress levels, and improve sleep quality, immune function, hormonal balance, and body weight control. Find a type of activity you enjoy and stick with it. People who exercise into their old age tend to have better quality of life.

Childhood Obesity – Start Early

I had an interesting experience yesterday. I was waiting to pick up our three year old granddaughter from a special class at a public school. While I was waiting, school let out and the kids started running around the front lawn. Many of them were overweight and some by quite a bit.

One of the children was walking with her father and they were talking about an afternoon snack. They were going to have popcorn. I have nothing against popcorn, but without it is air popped with no salt, butter or other additives it's not exactly healthy. I also do not think a child would be willing to eat air popped popcorn.

Eating Habits : What our children will eat as they grow up is going to be decided now. Instilling good habits needs to start in the cradle if possible. Making certain our children eat a healthy balance of food is necessary.

You may think I do not know how difficult that is. I'm the mother of two and the grandmother of two. I know what happens when a child does not like a food or even a whole genre of food. It's still important to try.

Healthy Snacks : Some children will enjoy raw fruits and vegetables. Some might like whole grain bread. Not all of them will. We have to use our imagination (and the internet at times) to find something healthy they will eat. It may require effort but it's worth it.

Make Sure About Lunch : Another thing happened yesterday. Our granddaughter did not eat her lunch. I'm not sure why, but she did not and she was cranky.

That does not really change as kids get older. Packing or purchasing a lunch that does not get eaten will mean children will crave something solid and they probably will not be willing to wait until dinner. If your child is a finicky eater, let the child help you choose, purchase and pack the lunch. We were lucky. Our granddaughter is a great fan of raw vegetables and helped polish off the Superbowl veggie platter.

The Benefits Of Having HDV Lasik Surgery

If you happen to be a part of billions of people worldwide who depend on corrective eyewear or contact lenses, then perhaps you have thought about undergoing a curative procedure. Known as lasik (laser assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) surgery, a patient that is a good candidate for the procedure can dramatically have their vision changed in well under an hour. More specifically, high definition lasik (or HDV lasik as it is also known) is a popular choice among procedures as it is proven to offer a higher level of accuracy when reshaping the cornea. By knowing the benefits of this particular surgery, you can make a well informed decision regarding whether or not you wish to move forward with HDV eye surgery.

By using a piece of equipment known as Wave Scan, optometrists are able to not only harness the technology for the lasik procedure itself, but they can also use the apparatus to enhance diagnosis as well. This is a huge advantage to those who may have received a previous diagnosis that only netted certain information regarding their eye health. With more details, the ability to care for your eye disorder is greatly enhanced and can result in a more productive management plan for your future treatment.

By having HDV lasik surgery, you are able to enjoy the number one benefit immediately: clear vision. As the procedure itself only takes generally twenty to thirty minutes, lasik surgery is ideal for those who are not able to take off copious amounts of time from work, school or other obligations. Your ideal vision may take up to six months to achieve, but the immediate results are said to improve upon your existing eye condition.

Being freed from the constants of depending upon eyeglasses and contact lenses can be a wonderful feeling, especially for those who have had to depend upon them for most (if not all) of their lives. A lifetime of expenses associated with contact lenses or corrective eyewear can add up quickly and do not forget about the hassle and worry over breaking or losing glasses.

By not having to rely on excessive eyes for clear vision, HDV lasik patients are afforded the opportunity to enjoy more leisure activities as well as apply to fields of employment that require 20/20 vision. Law enforcement, government agencies and certain branches of the military require perfect vision in order to function and operate in certain physical environments where excellent eyesight is strictly needed.
