What is Heart Disease?

The term heart disease is a very broad term. Problems can arise within the heart muscle, arteries supplying blood to the heart muscle, or the valves within the heart that pump blood in the correct direction. Understanding the differences between each disease of the heart can help with the confusing applications of the term heart disease.

Coronary artery disease or CAD is the most common type of heart disease and the leading cause of death in both genders in the U.S. Coronary artery disease affects the arteries supplying blood to the heart muscle. These coronary arteries harden and narrow due to the buildup of a waxy cholesterol, fatty substance referred to as plaque.

This plaque buildup is known as atherosclerosis. The increase in plaque buildup causes the coronary arteries to become narrower. This will cause blood flow to become restricted, decreasing the amount of oxygen delivered to the heart muscle. Decreasing the amount of oxygen supplied to the heart muscle can cause angina (chest pain) and lead to a heart attack. Coronary artery disease over time can weaken the heart muscle contributing to heart failure and arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms).

Coronary heart disease is another confusing type of heart disease. Coronary heart disease is not the same thing as coronary artery disease. While coronary artery disease refers to the coronary arteries, coronary heart disease refers to the diseases of the coronary arteries and resulting complications. This includes such complications such as chest pain, a heart attack, and the scar tissue caused by the heart attack. Understanding this subtle difference between the two may impress your cardiologist.

Cardiomyopathy is a disease affecting the muscle of the heart. Cardiomyopathy can be genetic or caused by a viral infection. Cardiomyopathy can be classified as primary or secondary. Primary cardiomyopathy is attributed to a specific cause (hypertension, congenital heart defects, heart valve disease). Secondary cardiomyopathy is attributed to specific causes (diseases affecting other organs).

There are three main types of cardiomyopathy. Dilated cardiomyopathy is enlargement and stretching of the cardiac muscle. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy causes thickening of the heart muscle. Restrictive cardiomyopathy causes the ventricles of the heart to become excessively rigid causing blood flow to the ventricles to be difficult between heartbeats.

Valvular heart disease is a disease that affects the valves of the heart. Valves within the heart keep the blood flowing in the correct direction. Damage to valves can be caused by a variety of conditions leading to regurgitation or insufficiency (leaking valve), prolapse (improper closing of the valve), or stenosis (narrowing of the valve). Valvular heart disease can be genetic. Valvular heart disease can also be caused by certain infections such as rheumatic fever, and certain medications or radiation treatments for cancer.

The pericardium is a sac that encompasses the heart. Pericardial disease is inflammation (pericarditis), stiffness (constrictive pericarditis), or fluid accumulation (pericardial effusion) of the pericardium. Pericardial disease can be caused by many things such as occurring after a heart attack.

Congenital heart disease is a form of heart disease that develops before birth. Congenital heart disease is an extremely broad term. However, these diseases usually affect the formation of the heart muscle, chambers, or valves. A few examples include coarctation or a narrowing of a section of the aorta; atrial or ventricular septal defect is referred to as holes in the heart. Congenital heart disease should be classified more accurately as an inborn defect that occurs in around 1% of births. Congenital heart disease may be inherited (heredity), or caused by certain infections such as German measles contracted while pregnant. However, researchers are currently studying factors that may cause congenital heart disease.

Heart failure is another type of heart disease characterized by the heart’s inability to effectively pump enough blood to the body’s organs and tissues. When the body’s vital organs do not receive enough blood flow certain signs and symptoms can occur such as shortness of breath, fatigue, and fluid retention. Congestive heart failure is a type of heart failure that leads to fluid buildup in the body. It is important to note that not all heart failure is congestive. Heart failure may result from other cardiovascular diseases such as cardiomyopathy or coronary heart disease. Heart failure may come on suddenly or develop over many years.

The month of February is the National Heart Disease awareness month. However, heart disease awareness should be each and every day. With staggering statistics, awareness begins with understanding the different types of heart disease. A diet and lifestyle that is conducive to heart health can mean the difference between life and being a statistic.

Edema: Another Pregnancy Dilemma

We're having a baby !!! More often than not, that is the usual tone that people have when they've found out that their having a baby, especially the mothers. But with the joy that comes from welcoming a new life into this earth also comes the harsh realities that a woman must face during pregnancy. Behind the excuse of baby showers and picking names and wondering what the gender of the baby would be, there are the hardships that a woman must go through before she can experience the joys of motherhood. Such hardships include gaining weight, that feeling fat and ugly, having morning sickness, and being irritable, just to name a few.

One of the less popular pains that pregnant women experience is edema. Well, actually no, it is not unpopular. It's just that few people recognize the word. Edema is simply a medical term for the swilling that pregnant women experience usually in their feet, ankles, and legs. A simple explanation would be that as the baby grows inside the womb of a woman, more pressure is exerted in her pelvic veins and the vein that receives blood from her lower extremities, called the vena cava. As a result, circulation is somewhat impeded and blood pools in the leg area. Fluids are then taken into the feet and ankles, and the accumulation of results to edema, or what is more commonly known as swelling. Sometimes, excess water retention that happens during pregnancy contributes even more to the swelling.

Edema usually occurs during the third trimester of pregnancy when the baby is big enough to exert enough pressure to actually slow down circulation. And although edema is not really a threatening disease or a cause to worry, it could bring a lot of discomfort to the already difficult situation that a pregnant woman is in. Thankfully, there are things you can do to somehow relieve the stress thought about by edema. Here are some tips:

As much as possible, keep your feet and legs in an elevated position. You can put it up in a chair, table, or whatever furniture / thing possible.

Always stretch your legs especially during prolonged sitting and while you're at it, also try rotating your ankles and wiggling your toes.

Forget fashion and go for comfort, at least for the meanime. Wear comfortable shoes, big enough for the swing in your feet and ankles.

Drink lots and lots of water!

Even if you're pregnant, still do some light exercise regularly as much as your pregnancy can permit you.

Try to eat a balanced and nutritious diet and avoid sodium and salt, instead focus on the proteins.

As I said, edema is quite normal during pregnancies and it should not cause too much worry. However, you should also make sure that the symptoms you¡¯re experiencing indicate that it is indeed edema and not something more complicated. If swapping occurs in your hands and face in a sudden manner, immediately consult your doctor as this may indicate preeclampsia, a disorder that also occurs during pregnancy but much more serious. Also, if swapping is not the same for both feet, it may be a symptom of a vascular problem and a doctor must be consulted as well.

Once you're sure that it is edema, then there's really no need to worry. Just follow the tips that were written above for the few months that you will be having edema. It should help a lot in improving how you feel during this time, plus you can always look ahead to the time when you would feel that all these pains and discomforts are nothing. That is the time when you get to bring into this world a beautiful being, someone that is special and someone that is your own, and everything you've experienced would just be worth it!

What Is a Heart Attack?

A heart attack [or Myocardial Infarction (MI)] occurs when the supply of blood and oxygen to an area of heart muscle is blocked, usually by a clot in a coronary artery. Often, this blockage leads to arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat or rhythm) that cause a sever decrease in the pumping function of the heart and may bring about sudden death. If the blockage is not covered within a few hours, the affected heart muscle will die and be replaced by scar tissue.

A heart attack is a life-threatening event. Everyone should know the warning signs of a heart attack and how to get emergency help. Many people suffer permanent damage to their hearts or die because they do not get help immediately.

If care is thought soon enough, blood flow in the blocked artery can be restored in time to prevent permanent damage to the heart. Yet, most people do not seek medical care for 2 hours or more after symptoms begin. Many people wait 12 hours or longer.

Heart Attack Warning Signs

Cardiac arrest strikes immediately and without warning. Some heart attacks are sudden and intense – but most heart attacks start slowly, with mild pain or discomfort.
Often people affected are not sure what's wrong and wait too long before getting help.

The following signs should not be ignored – they can mean a heart attack is happening:

oChest discomfort. Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes, or that goes away and comes back. It can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain.

oDiscomfort in other areas of the upper body. Symptoms can include pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach.

oShortness of breath. May occur with or without chest discomfort.

oOther signs: These may include breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or lightheadedness.

As with men, women's most common heart attack symptom is chest pain or discomfort. But women are somewhat more likely than men to experience some of the other common symptoms, particularly shortness of breath, nausea / vomiting, and back or jaw pain.

Even though the symptoms of a heart attack at times can be vague and mild, it is important to remember that heart attacks producing no symptoms or only mild symptoms can be just as serious and life-threatening as heart attacks that cause severe chest pain.

Too often patients disease heart attack symptoms to "indigestion," "fatigue," or "stress," and consequentially delay seeking medical medical attention. One can not overemphasize the importance of seeking prompt medical attention in the presence of symptoms that suggest a heart attack. Early diagnosis and treatment saves lives, and delays in reaching medical assistance can be fatal. A delay in treatment can lead to permanently reduced function of the heart due to more intensive damage to the heart muscle. Death also may occur as a result of the sudden sunset of arrhythmias.

What causes a heart attack?

Atherosclerosis is a gradual process in which plaques (collections) of cholesterol are deposited in the walls of arteries. Cholesterol plaques cause hardening of the arterial walls and narrowing of the inner channel (lumen) of the artery. Arteries that are narrowed by atherosclerosis can not deliver enough blood to maintain normal function of the parts of the body they supply. For example, atherosclerosis of the arteries in the legs causes reduced blood flow to the legs. Reduced blood flow to the legs can lead to pain in the legs while walking or exercising, leg ulcers, or a delay in the healing of wounds to the legs.

In many people, atherosclerosis can remain silent (causing no symptoms or health problems) for years or decades. Atherosclerosis can begin as early as the teenage years, but symptoms or health problems usually do not arise until later in adulthood when the arterial narrowing becomes severe. Coronary artery disease refers to the atherosclerosis that causes hardening and narrowing of the coronary arteries. Diseases caused by the reduced blood supply to the heart muscle from coronary atherosclerosis are called coronary heart diseases (CHD). Coronary heart diseases include heart attacks, sudden unexpected death, chest pain, abnormal heart rhythms, and heart failure due to weakening of the heart muscle.

Atherosclerosis and angina pectoris

Angina pectoris (also referred to as angina) is chest pain or pressure that occurs when the blood and oxygen supply to the heart muscle can not keep up with the needs of the muscle. When coronary arteries are narrowed by more than 50 to 70 percent, the arteries can not increase the supply of blood to the heart muscle during exercise or other periods of high demand for oxygen. An insufficient supply of oxygen to the heart muscle causes angina.

Angina that occurs with exercise or exertion is called exertional angina.

Exertional angina usually feels like pressure, heaviness, squeezing, or aching across the chest. This pain may travel to the neck, jaw, arms, back, or even the teeth, and may be accompanied by shortness of breath, nausea, or a cold sweat. Exertional angina typically lasts from 1 to 15 minutes and is relieved by rest or placing a nitroglycerin tablet under the tongue. Both resting and nitroglycerin decrease the heart muscle's demand for oxygen, thus relieving angina. Exertional angina may be the first warning sign of advanced coronary artery disease.

Chest pains that just last a few seconds rarely are due to coronary artery disease.

Angina also can occur at rest. Angina at rest more commonly indicates that a coronary artery has narrowed to such a critical degree that the heart is not receiving enough oxygen even at rest.

While heart attacks can occur at any time, most heart attacks occur between 4:00 AM and 10:00 AM because of the higher blood levels of adrenaline released from the adrenal glands during the morning hours. Increased adrenaline, as previously discussed, may contribute to rupture of cholesterol plaques.

Approximately 50% of patients who develop heart attacks have warning symptoms such as exertional angina or rest angina prior to their heart attacks.

Home Remedy For Heartburn – Natural Heartburn Relief That Attacks the Root Cause

People that experience chronic heart burn will need at least one viable home remedy for heartburn, since they never know when they're going to need heartburn relief. No one wants to go out in a blizzard in order to purchase some antacids, even if it feels like it's an emergency. People with chronic heartburn can go through antacids reliably quickly. Many of them will eventually find themselves in a situation in which they should take a break from antacids for health reasons, so it's always a good idea for them to research other heartburn relief options.

When looking for a great home remedy for heartburn, people will often turn to the natural world. Indeed, there are plenty of herbal treatments for heartburn that have worked for centuries and that will continue to work for modern people. One surprising example is marshmallow root. A lot of people today have never even heard of marshmallow root, so they certainly have not considered its healing potential. When ingested, marshmallow root can properly soothe and coat the esophagus. It can almost act as a barrier against the stomach acid that people have to cope with during episodes of heartburn. The coating also manages to be easy on the esophagus, which is not always the case for treatments like this. Marshmallow root is a useful home remedy for heartburn, and it describes to be more well known than it is today.

One of the great things about home remedies like marshmallow root is the fact that they attack heartburn at its source. Too many medications end up altering the acidity of a person's digestive system, which can have other consequences. Marshmallow root simply alleviates the pain associated with heartburn, which is absolutely what patients need in the first place. Patients will only need to ingest a teaspoon of marshmallow root mixed into a glass of water a few times a day in order to get the benefits. The marshmallow root powder that they purchase should be able to last them a long time, making it good to have around the house.

People that are looking for a home remedy for heartburn that is not herbal in nature should consider the mechanisms of heartburn. Some people may worsen their heartburn by engaging in habits that literally make it harder for their bodies to process what they're eating. Other people are not fully taking advantage of their bodies' natural ability to alleviate heartburn. People that sleep on an incline or who sleep on their left sides will be that much less likely to experience heartburn. However, the individuals that need quick heartburn relief can not worry about changing their lifestyles just yet. They need to focus on the problems that they're currently experiencing, which is where a quick home remedy for heartburn can come into play.

Tuberculosis – Symptoms and Cures

A common and contagious disease Tuberculosis (TB) spreads through the air like a common cold. While tuberculosis mostly attacks the lungs it can also affect the lymphatic system, circulatory system, central nervous system, the bones, joints and even the skin. About one third of the world's population currently is infected by TB. In this disease, latent infection without symptoms is most common. If left untreated, this disease can become fatal.

There are 3 important things to be followed in the recovery process:

The treatment procedure must include many drugs to which the organisms are susceptible.

Regular medication is necessary for speedy recovery.

Therapy must continue for a sufficient amount of time.

Most of the Tb cases are curable, but the medicines must not be stopped half way and should be continued for the prescribed period. If discontinued in between patients can develop drug resistant TB which is very difficult to cure.

Current Tuberculosis Cure

The most common medications used to treat active TB include:

Isoniazid (INH)
Rifampin (RIF)

The most common drug used for TB is Isoniazid (INH). This drug is fairly inexpensive, effective and easy to take. In conjunction with other drugs, this drug is very effective against TB. INH preventive treatment is advised for those individuals who have a tuberculin skin test that changed from negative to positive within the past two years, those who have been in close contact with a person having infectious tuberculosis, a positive skin test reaction and a special medical condition such as HIV infection or AIDS etc. Even if testing shows that the patient is infected with an isoniazid-resistant strain, this drug is continued as some organisms are yet to be sensitive. Two more drugs to which the organizations are likely to be sensitive will also be incorporated into the regimen.

The starting stage of treatment is very cruel in Tb treatment for preventing drug resistance and for better results. Primary or acquired drug resistance can be the case with TB treatment. Primary resistance happens in patients who have had no history of antimycobacterial treatment. Those who have been treated in the past get acquainted resistance which typically occurs as a result of incorrect prescribing.

As majority of the people in the developing world do not have access to TB drugs, it leads to more fatalities. Strains of tuberculosis develop due to improper consumption of drugs which then became resistant to treatment. This becomes very difficult to cure and in this case patients have to continue treatment for at least 2 years.

Common Myths And Facts About Breast Augmentation

In your search for the best breast augmentation surgical services, you might have come across quite a bit of contradicting information about the cosmetic surgery. Such contradictions might seem overwhelming, but you shouldn’t give up in your search for the truth. All you have to do is seek out credible sources to differentiate the myths from the facts.

1. Unproven Assumptions About Implant Safety Issues

Just about any medical procedure would have some type of side effect. However, some people tend to exaggerate the extent of certain side effects, based on unproven assumptions. This is particularly so with safety issues concerning breast implants.

Some of the early occurrences in the initial adoption of breast implants, as recorded by the Therapeutic Goods Administration, may have led people to develop an exaggerated perception of the safety issues regarding implants. In the early 1990’s, without rigorous and systemic studies on the safety of implants, people’s opinions were easily swayed by anecdotal reports of silicone gel leaking from implants and spreading through the body.

The negative perception created by such unverified reports may have been further cemented by the restrictions and additional conditions imposed on breast implants by regulatory authorities. This would have made the public come to the conclusion that such implants were certainly bad for the regulators to restrict their supply. What the public may not have realized is that such restrictions were not based on verified studies on the implants’ safety.

Some of the concerns that people had was that leakage and/or diffusion of silicone gel contributes to an increase in systemic diseases. Women who adopted implants were also concerned about such problems as capsular contracture around implants, resulting in loss of sensation, hardness, distortion and even pain.

Fortunately, once proper research was carried out to verify such safety concerns, it was found out that silicone implants were not responsible for connective tissue disorders like rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus or scleroderma. Cancer was also ruled as a concern in the adoption of silicone implants. In fact, it’s actually quite interesting that silicon is found naturally in the human body.

The complications that can actually arise due to the use of implants are much less harmful and usually occur when implants are left to stay for too long until they age. In such situations, you may experience capsular contracture. At such a point, you would require corrective surgery to replace your implant.

2. Facts About Mammography

Just as you demystify the myths surrounding augmentation surgery, you should also find out about proven facts of the operation.

It’s true that implants do obscure mammography images of tumours. This inevitably interferes with early detection of breast cancer, causing a delay in diagnosis.

Fortunately, special techniques are being adopted to minimize such implant interference. You should also realize that there is a certain proportion of obscured mammograms even in women without implants, as indicated by the FDA.

In some instances, both saline and silicone implants can rupture while you undergo mammograms. You surgeon would advice you on how to handle such situations.

Once you understand the real fact about augmentation surgery and eliminate the myths, you would know exactly how to get the best from your operation.

What Is Pneumonia? Causes and How to Treat Pneumonia?

What is pneumonia? What causes pneumonia? How to treat pneumonia?

Pneumonia is an inflammatory condition caused by a bacterial, viral or fungal infection, affecting primarily the alveoli in the lungs. The alveoli are the small air sacs in the lungs where the exchange of oxygen in the blood takes place.

Recovering from pneumonia can be difficult sometimes, especially in immunity compromised people and babies, and natural therapies such as home salt therapy can be of great help here.

Main symptoms of pneumonia are difficult breathing, coughing, fever and chest pain. Most cases of pneumonia are bacterial infections and the main treatment is with pneumonia antibiotics. It is mainly diagnosed by X-ray and sputum culture to determine the type of bacteria or fungi. Many people may need hospitalization, especially elders, infants and people with compromised immunity.

About seven percent of the population contact pneumonia each year and about 4 millions die each year of this disease, mostly in the poor developed countries and in most affected groups. The risk in developing pneumonia is increased in infants and elders, people suffering from COPD, smokers and people with immunodeficiency. Pneumonia causes list also includes some medical drugs or treatments that are associated with an increased risk of causing pneumonia.

Having a long-term disease such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, diabetes, heart disease or cancer may also predispose someone to pneumonia.

A bacterial infection will quickly bring symptoms such as:

– Coughing – cough up mucus from the lungs that is typically green, rusty or have traces of blood

– Fever and shaking chills

– Chest pain, especially with breathing in and coughing

– Shortness of breath and fast breathing

– Headache and cyanosis from low oxygenated blood

– Fast heartbeat

– Weakness, fatigue and feeling very tired

– Abundant sweating

Nausea, vomiting, dirrhea and even confusion, especially in elders, can also be part of the symptoms. Viral infection usually involves same symptoms but they come slowly and can be milder.

Some people may have very mild pneumonia symptoms and be able to carry on the regular routines, not even knowing that they have a type of pneumonia – this is called "walking pneumonia". Usually the microorganism here is the Mycoplasma pneumoniae. They have mild flu-like symptoms, headache and fatigue. The treatment for walking pneumonia is generally with antibiotics or they most often clear on their own.

How to treat pneumonia?

The classic medical treatment for bacterial infection pneumonia is with antibiotic therapy. For fungal pneumonia, depending on the types of fungi spores isolated or suspected, different antifungal drugs will be selected.

The recovery after pneumonia can take months and to fasten the recovery, salt therapy is the choice, being natural and without any side-effects.

The salt aerosol is well known for its bactericide / fungicide, mucolytic and hydrophilic properties, helping in killing bacteria and fungi, making the mucus fluid and eliminating obstacles in the whole respiratory system. These lead to decreasing inflammation and breathing better.

Simple and Best Home Remedies for Pleurisy

An inflammation of the pleura is called pleurisy. It is caused by microorganisms, which gets into the pleura by blood and lymph. Usually it occurs while being ill with tuberculosis or pneumonia. Other, non-infectious origin of the pleuritis can begin because of tumours, blood diseases, rheumatism, injuries of chest or ribbing.

Pleura is the membrane which covers the lungs. Outer one covers inner wall of the chest and the other one covers the substance of the lungs. Between those two membranes, there is a little space, filled with fluid and because of that lungs can move freely. When pleurisy occurs, blood, air or lymph can get between membranes, and it causes the pressure for the lungs and aggravates the breathing.

There are three types of pleurisy – dry, wet and sometimes purulent. As pleurisy usually is a viral infection, it can occur sometime even in epidemics. Little children can get ill easily, but generally it can happen to anyone, if pneumonia or other similar diseases are left untreated.

Symptoms: Inflammation begins suddenly, patient feels severe pain that can be on any part of the chest. While breathing deeply or coughing the pain gets worse. Other symptoms are choking, shallow breathing, tremor, general weakness, little appetite, fever and so on.

Home Remedies: If you feel that you could be sick with pleurisy, you should visit your doctor as soon as possible. First of all, pneumonia or other disease which has caused pleurisy needs to be cured. Another very important step is to egest excess of the liquids from the pleura, so that lungs could expand. Pleurisy is mostly cured with antibiotics, yet there are a few home remedies and methods, which can help you to feel better –

Hogweed: This herb is very beneficial while being ill with pleurisy. Dry the roots of this herb and mash up till the powder. Consume it at least three times per day.

Celery: You can try to use this herb too as it has antispasmodic properties.

Milk: Drink more milk while you are sick as it cures pleurisy effectively.

Cotton: Warmth relieves the pain. Use cotton as heating pads on the chest four times per day for about half an hour.

Water: It will really make you feel better. Drink at least five to six glasses of water every day.

Proper diet: Be sure your diet is well-balanced, for you need to strengthen your immune system. Food which has more proteins and vitamins, will help you to get well soon. You should avoid cold, and fried food.

Massage: Soothing, warm massage helps a lot. Just do not forget that it can be done only 3-4 days after pain relieves, fever drops and when the cough is not so bad.

In order not to get sick further, all the diseases, which can cause the pleurisy need to be cured very carefully. Furthermore, it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Try not to smoke, do not forget to rest after work, eat healthy food and spend enough time outside in the open air.

How To Select Lottery Numbers Based On The Fibonacci Sequence

The fibonacci sequence has fascinated mathematicians for many years. Let’s take a look at how these numbers might impact on lottery applications.

The sequence is simply a group of numbers where each number is the sum of the previous two.

1 2 3 5 8 13 21 34

What is of interest is that the ratio of any two numbers approaches the “golden number” of 1.6180 which appears in nature from the Egyptian pyramids through to the petals on many flower species. The higher the number, the closer the ratio is to 1.6180.

Lotto And The Fibonacci Theory

At first glance the sequence doesn’t appear to give us any help with Lotto selections.

There are too many numbers in the first decile and few even numbers.

Where the numbers might be helpful is using the series to make selections from generated combinations.

Lotto Combinations And Fibonacci Applications

Whatever selection system you use, the number of possible combinations is likely to be large.

For example, a lotto calculator would generate 924 combinations for just 12 unique numbers.

That would be too many lines for an individual player, but you could use the fibonacci sequence to work out which lines to choose.

The elegance of the series is that you can start with any two numbers and create your own sequence.

So you could begin with lines 5,10 and then continue the series:

5 10 15 25 40 65 105 etc.

You could then select lines from the combinations generated based on the fibonacci numbers. For example you might select lines 5,10,15 and so on.

Depending on your starting point that might reduce the number of lines to less than 15, a more manageable number for an individual lotto player.

Filtering The Lotto Combinations And Optimizing Fibonacci Numbers

Players could filter the combinations to remove unlikely patterns making the fibonacci selections even more optimal.

Another option might be to use a random number generator to create the starting point for the series, or even to have range of different sequences to experiment with.

The idea is to use the sequence to create your own selection system which you then refine and experiment with.

This article has introduced the concept of applying a proven mathematical theory to lottery selections. The fibonacci sequence may be an example of the balance between a seemingly random event and implementing professional methodology to achieve an outcome.

What to Do If You Strain Your Back

It is estimated that at some point in our lives, at least eighty percent of us will have difficulties with back pain. There are a lot of things that can cause it, arthritis, injuries, pregnancy and improper lifting techniques are at the top of the list.

Back strain can be caused by a few things. Most of the time, it's from not lifting heavy items in the right way. It may also be trying to lift too much, repetitive motions or over taxing your muscles. When these problems occur, they can cause you pain that lasts a long time.

Once upon a time, we were told that those suffering from this problem should spend as much time as possible laying down. That would rest the muscles, and theoretically shorten the time suffering. However, recent studies have indicated that this is exactly the wrong thing to do.

Instead, those who've strained muscles are encouraged to get up and resume their normal schedule. This may also prevent your back from tightening up, which would only make the problem worse.

We were also told that a firm mattress was best for your back, especially if you have problems in that area. This, too, is now under fire. A medium mattress is much better, allowing your body's natural curves a place for firm support.

Depending on the severity of the pain, you may require prescription medications. There are some rather nasty side effects, especially if narcotics are used. If possible, stick to regular NSAIDs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, etc. Be sure to follow package instructions, as taking too much can cause some serious problems.

One of the things I use a lot when my back flairs up is a mixture of comfrey, gotu kola and willow bark soaked in olive oil for six weeks. This is a good topical pain reliever, although you may want to skip the willow if you are allergic to aspirin. Also, there is debate about the use of comfrey, even in topical preparations. It could cause kidney and liver damage.

If the pain persists, you should see your doctor. You could have a more serious condition that requires medical attention. You should also ask your doctor about using the herbal preparations, in case there are interactions either with medications you currently take or any medical conditions you might have.

Your doctor may suggest physical therapy for the pain. This is a very good idea, though you may want to ask if it could be aquatic rather than on land. The water will not cause the impact you can find in gym based therapy.

Tonsillitis – How to Treat This Condition?

Tonsillitis is an inflammation of the tonsils that is usually accommodating by a sore throat. It is extremely common, especially in children and can easily be cured.

If your throat is swelled up and it hurts to swallow, you may have this inflammation. Other symptoms include a fever, an ear ache, tendness of the jaw and throat and a headache. Your tonsils will also become enlarged in the back of your throat and white spots may also form on them. If you have any of these symptoms, you are most likely suffering from tonsillitis.

It is best to see your doctor who will be able to take a throat swap and a clear indication of what is wrong. Treatment will depend on the diagnosis.

There are two different types of tonsil infections. A viral infection is usually caused by a sore throat or, in some cases, glandular fever. You will not be able to treat a viral infection with antibiotics. Instead you can take certain pain medications, throat lozenges and throat medications to stop the painful symptoms.

You can also try gargling with salt water and drinking cold drinks which can reduce the swelling and painful sensation. An inflammation of the tonsils called by a viral infection will normally clear up on its own after a week.

However, in about 15 percent of tonsillitis cases, the problem is caused by a bacterial infection. In most cases this is the streptococcus bacteria, or strep. You will need to take antibiotics, normally penicillin which will be prescribed by your doctor.

The antibiotics will usually start to take affect and relate the symptoms within a couple of days. However, you must continue to take the medication until all the pills are gone. If you do not, the bacterial infection could easily return.

Sometimes your tonsil symptoms are actually not caused by tonsillitis at all, but are the result of tonsil stones. Tonsil stones are little while balls of food and debris that get stuck on your tonsils and cause your throat to become irritated. Other symptoms include a scratchy throat and bad breath.

If you feel like there is something caught in your throat and notice white spots on your tonsils but do not feel feverish, achy or sick in any other way, then you could have tonsil stones.

The good news is that these balls can usually be removed at home. You just need to cough, gargle or poke them loose. The bad news is that these white balls emit a putrid smell. When removing the stones, always wash your hands and mouth. To prevent tonsil stones and tonsillitis in the future, make sure you stick to a regular oral hygiene routine and rinse your mouth out after meals.

Do You Know Meridian Therapy Can Melt Away Anxiety?

When many people think that acupuncture is mostly utilized to treat a particular injury or region of pain, it may also function as a relaxation technique. Meridian therapy is wholly secure and does not have any adverse side effects. 5 Easy Ways To Last Longer In Bed (Highly Effective)

If you want to know some easy ways to last longer in bed you’ve come to the right place.

Below I’m going to share with you some dead simple strategies and techniques to help men even the most severe cases of premature ejaculation.

Now pay attention, because what you’re about to learn is highly effective…

1 – Become Pleasure Sensitive

During sex start noticing and paying attention to just how close you are to orgasm. This way, when you do start getting close to orgasm you can take corrective action and prevent it (using the strategies in this article), rather than do what most men do and just keep on doing what they’re doing at the same rate until it’s too late.

2 – Use Tactical Position Changing

One great way of taking advantage of pleasure sensitivity is in using tactical position changing. When you find yourself close to orgasm just change positions. When you change positions you have a chance to withdraw your penis from her, which gives you a little break in stimulation. This break can help you recover stamina so you’ll be ready to go again for longer.

3 – Go For A Deep Thrust

When you thrust deep inside your woman you do something very effective in helping you last longer in bed; you keep the most sensitive part of your penis (the end) away from the most stimulating part of her vagina (the entrance). By keeping these two apart you reduce your overall stimulation meaning you can last longer before orgasm. You can keep thrusting in and out an inch or two though, to keep the pleasure up for her.

4 – Use A Standing Up Position

One of the easy ways to last longer in bed is to use a standing up position. You’ll find that it’s easier to last longer in a standing up position, because you’re having to spend energy and focus on parts of your body other than thrusting. In standing up blood will have to flow to your legs to keep you in position and all this energy that’s drawn away from your penis is highly effective in helping you last longer in bed.

5 – Urinate Before Sex

Having a full bladder can promote premature ejaculation. So one of the easy ways to last longer in bed is to just urinate before sex. This empties your bladder, which means the pressure on your genitals are reduced, so lasting longer in bed becomes easy.

So there are 5 easy ways to last longer in bed that are highly effective. I recommend you put them to work tonight.

Nasal Polyps- A Primer

Nasal polyps are a well known cause of sinus pressure and pain and occur in the nasal and sinus passages of many people. Chronic sinus sufferers may have anatomical obstacles in their nasal and sinus cavities, and nasal polyps are one of the most common of these. This article will briefly discuss the causes and effects of having nasal polyps.

Doctors are not 100% certain what the precise causes of nasal polyps are. In general it is thought that chronic inflammation in the nasal cavities can cause polyps to grow, often resulting in blockage of the sinus passes and resulting in infections. In addition, it appears that aspirin intolerance also seems to increase the likelihood of nasal polyps. Men over 40 years of age are more prone to develop polyps than are women or people in other age groups, except asthma is a concurrent condition. It is not believed that allergies are the main cause of polyp growth since they occur in just as many people who do not have nasal allergies as in those who do.

Some doctors say that polyps are more likely to grow in people who also suffer from asthma. Dr. M. Lee Williams in his book entitled "The Sinusitis Help Book" writes: "It is often surprising how many asthmatics with sinusitis already have, or ever go on to develop, nasal or sinus polyps, and how much improvement in their asthma may sometimes resulting from removing the polyps and clearing up their obstructive sinus disease. " He continues: "Unfortunately, even after polyps have been removed, more than one-third of the patients with nasal polyps will have a recurrence of them, and this is especially true for those with superimposed allergy, frequent sinus infections, repeated colds, asthma , cystic fibrosis, or aspirin intolerance. "

Polyps are not a separate growth, as is a tumor, and they consist of the same tissue as does their surrounding areas. The polyp tissue can contain cilia and secret mucous, but sometimes the tissue hardens and flattens and the cilia are lost due to chronic infection or from being irritated by constant exposure to the nasal air stream.

Nasal polyps are often described as looking like some sort of rounded grape-like growth. Adding obstruction inside the nose, polyps can block the drainage passageways and therefore result in bacterial growth and infection. Polyps that develop in other parts of the body can become cancerous, but in general that is not the case with nasal polyps. Normally doctors do not seek biopsies when treating polyps in the nasal and sinus cavities.

Nasal polyps can often be controlled using mediations, especially corticosteroid medications such as prednisone or steroid sprays. If the polyps can not be controlled by medication, surgery might be necessary. In some patients who have polyps, no blockage occurs and in such cases many doctors will choose to forego surgery. Unfortunately, polyps have a strong tendency to return after they have been surgically removed.

It should be noted that nasal irrigation is not recommended for people with nasal polyps. This is because the pressure from the nasal irrigation procedure can be traumatic in that the fluid stream of saline solution would be pushing against the sensitive and exposed tissue of the polyp.

As is the case with other anatomical obstacles in the nasal cavities such as swollen turbines or cysts, nasal polyps often cause blockage and can result in chronic sinus infections. Sinus sufferers should consult their doctors and have them determine if they have nasal or sinus polyps, and seek appropriate treatment. Fortunately nasal polyps can often be treated successfully with medications alone and surgery is not always a necessity.
