Advice to Parents on Childhood Measles Part I

Measles is caused by a virus of the influenza family. The initial measles symptoms are a bit like a bad cold or flu, but with a rash! The vast majority of parents do not know what measles really is, other than being a childhood illness. They know it has a rash and is infectious, but that's about it. They have probably never seen it and do not know anyone who has had it. Most doctors would not recognize measles symptoms until the rash appeared, never having come across it. This is due to the measles vaccination program which was superseded by the MMR vaccine.

I have even heard of parents arranging measurements parties, where young children are sent to visit others who have measures in order that they catch it. This is going back to the immediate post World War 2 era when immunity was gained by catching the disease. I was brought up in the 1950s and early 1960s and remember mumps parties and German ratios parties so that children would be immune to these diseases as adults, but not measles parties.

The reason for this is that mumps can damage the male reproductive system (and, not so well known, the ovaries as well) if contracted after puberty, and German measles is very dangerous to the developing fetus. In children, however, they are reliably mild diseases. Painful and uncomfortable, occasional, but not what you would call killer diseases. German measles is not a type of measles. The word 'German' probably comes from a Latin word, germanus, meaning 'similar' since the symptoms are similar to those of measles.

Measles kill, so we never had measles parties. In fact back in the 1940s and 1950s it was a major killer. In England alone 5,677 children died in the 1940s. Nobody wanted their kids to catch measles back in these days. I have read that measles parties were common then, but I never came across one. We were always told to keep away from anyone who had measured – at least until they went back to school. Some never went back.

Since the measles vaccine, which became available in 1963, and MMR which was licensed in the USA in 1971 (1972 in the UK), the disease has become uncommon in developed countries, and parents have become blasé about it. This is the only reason I can think of for them concluding that measles parties are better for their children than the vaccine. If it does not kill, it can have some very nasty side effects. It is without a doubt the most dangerous children's rash-producing disease.

Measles is still one of the major causes of death in children worldwide (over 600,000 have been reported) and it is almost as contagious as smallpox. Children have around a 99% chance of contracting the disease if they come into contact with an infected person. The main cause of death in around 60% of cases cases is pneumonia.

If it does not kill your children they have a high chance of hearing problems, and worse, a much higher than average chance of contracting meningitis or encephalitis. The chances of this are only 1 in a 1000, but you do not want your son or daughter to be that one. I know, because my son was that one. He contracted meningitis and encaphilitis shortly after receiving a measles vaccine, but I still prompted my daughter to allow her son to have the MMR vaccine. The disease is far more dangerous than the vaccine. He had it and all was well. My son's story is on my website.

In part two of this article, I will explain the symptoms and in what order they can be expected, to help parents who are unsure what they should do or when to call a doctor.

Tetanus – Overview of Self Care and Medical Treatment

Tetanus is an infectious disease which is caused due to Clostridium tetani bacterium. This bacterium usually lives in soil in the form of a spore. However, you can also find spores in dust and animal waste. The spores enter a wound where they germinate into the bacteria, which produce toxins that affect the muscles, leading to tetanus.

Tetanus is transmitted through the environment and not from person to person contact. It is also known as lockjaw as it causes spasms that lock the muscles of the jaw. In several cases, respiratory muscles get locked due to spasm and the person dies due to lack of oxygen to the brain and other parts of the body.

Tetanus bacteria thrive in environments where there is no or low level of oxygen and that is why puncture wounds are ideal breeding grounds for the bacteria. Tetanus self care involves cleaning the wound site though with soap and running water. Once the wound is cleaned, it should be covered with a clean dry cloth. Thereafter, you should seek medical help.

The doctor will give you antibiotics to kill any bacteria that may still be present in the wound. In addition, you may be given a tetanus booster shot, if you have not received one in the last 5 years. In case you still develop tetanus after all these supportive measures, you will be hospitalized, given sedatives to control the muscle spasms, put on a ventilator if the respiratory muscles are affected and given intravenous rehydration as the metabolism rate will increase due to the spasms.

What Is Chickenpox?

Chickenpox is an infectious disease caused by the varicella virus. Most cases occur in children under age 15 but older children and adults can get it. It spreads very easily from one child to another.

Symptoms include an uncomfortable, itchy rash, fever and headache. The rash is like blisters and usually appears on the face, scalp or trunk. The disease is usually mild and lasts 5 to 10 days, but it sometimes causes serious problems. Adults and older children tend to get sicker from it. Do not give aspirin to anyone sick with chickenpox since the combination may cause Reye Syndrome.

How do people get chickenpox?

Chickenpox spreads from person to person by direct contact with fluid from broken chickenpox blisters or through the air by coughing or sneezing. Chickenpox is so contagious in its early stages that an exposed person who has not had chickenpox has a 70% to 80% chance of getting the disease.

After infection, the virus stays in the body for life. Although people can not get chickenpox twice, the same virus causes shingles. A person with shingles can spread the virus to an adult or child who has not had chickenpox, and that person can develop chickenpox.

Symptoms of chickenpox begin between 10 and 21 days after a person is exposed. The illness typically includes fever and a generally sick feeling. This is soon followed by itchy, red bumps that quickly become fluid-filled and are easily recognized as chickenpox. These skin blisters are round, about 5 millimeters to 10 millimeters across (about the size of a pencil eraser), with a red base. Sometimes, they are described as a "dew drop on a rose petal." They appear in various stages over the next few days and eventually crust over. These blisters may appear anywhere there is skin, even inside the mouth, throat or vagina. Some patients have only 50 blisters or fewer. Others have too many to count.

What is the treatment?

For some children, the rash may be no more than a passing inconvenience, but for others, it can be very unpleasant. Treatment is, therefore, aimed at controlling the symptoms.

Asking your child not to scratch their itch will probably fall on deaf ears, however, it is worth trying to distract them as best you can. Cut their fingernails very short and make sure that their hands and fingernails are kept clean.

If the rash or sores are very itchy, bathe the child in a warm (but not too hot) bath with half a cup of baking soda in it. Your pharmacist or doctor will also be able to recommend some anti-itch preparations if your child is very disturbed. Calamine lotion can be useful as well.

Chickenpox (varicella) vaccination is not included in the childhood immunization program in New Zealand as the Ministry of Health does not recommend the routine use of this vaccine for normal, healthy children. However, the vaccine is available and licensed for use in New Zealand, but it is not subsidized, so the patient or parent must pay for it. The vaccine can be given to children over about one year of age and adults. Children aged under 13 years require one dose, whereas anyone over 13 years requires a second booster shot about six weeks later.

Rubella Of Many Names

Rubella has many names: Roseola, German measles, three-day measures to name a few. Rubella is often mild which means that in several cases initial attacks will go unnoticed. This initially is not a bad thing; Although it does make the virus very hard to properly diagnose. In most cases the Rubella virus will enter in the human body through the nose or throat. Rubella can last between one and five days. It has been proven through studies that children can cover from the virus more quickly than adults as their immune system is more active, or just more simpy in better shape.

Common to most viruses that live in the respiratory tract, Rubella is passed from person to person by tiny droplets in the air. These are droplets that are breathed out during normal respiration. It is important to note that the Rubella virus can also be transferred from mother to developing baby in the bloodstream by way of the placenta. Typically the incubation period for Rubella is two to three weeks. That is how long it takes to establish itself.

Above I said that another name for Rubella is the German measures. That's funny because the name "German Measles" actually has nothing to do with the coutnry of Germany. Instead it comes from the latin, which means 'similar'; This is because rubella and measles [] share common symptoms.

Symptoms of rubella include:

– Swollen glands or lymph nodes

– Joint pain and swelling

– Inflammation of the eyes

– Flaking (caused by dry skin

– Nasal congestion

– Pain in the testicles

– Loss of appetite

– Fever

– Headache

– Rash

The Multiple Benefits of Medical Marijuana

Every day, it becomes more difficult to deny the benefits of medical marijuana. Ask anyone who’s used it for pain management relating to a life-altering illness – Cancer, AIDS, Glaucoma, Multiple Sclerosis, and Crohn’s disease, among others – and they’ll tell you how it’s changed their lives.

How smoking or ingesting a natural herb has made managing their pain and side effects a revelation. That when compared to any variety of chemically enhanced pharmaceutical offerings, the little white pills simply don’t measure up.

Take side effects, for instance. Most prescription drugs come with a multi-page rider of possible bad things that might happen with regular use – liver damage is almost synonymous with long-term use. Compare that to marijuana, which studies show have almost no permanent damage with long-term use, and many patients choose not to smoke. Baked goods, butters, oils, and other natural means make marijuana the easiest medicine to swallow.

And medical marijuana doesn’t only benefit debilitating illnesses. It has also been found to ease the discomfort surrounding arthritis, chronic pain, and nausea. Many women report success when using marijuana to treat menstrual cramps, and menopausal women have found great success in using marijuana to battle hot flashes, mood swings, and chills. Currently there are studies being done which indicate that medical marijuana might have a positive effect on depression and other anxiety related disorders.

The “bunch of stoners” stereotype has followed responsible marijuana users around for far too long. Like any other beneficial drug, marijuana can be abused. Unlike every other beneficial prescription drug out there, it is virtually impossible to “overdose” on marijuana. Classifying marijuana as a dangerous drug in the first place is a little like outlawing black cohosh or ginseng or any of the other herbs routinely used in different cultures for healing and pain management. It is an alternative medical course, as legitimate as chiropractic medicine, and often used hand in hand to great results. Chiropractic philosophy lines up perfectly with that of medical marijuana – your body, and nature, has the power to heal.

Ultimately, that’s the number one benefit marijuana has to offer: it is an herb, grown from the earth. It is not processed or refined or chemically enhanced. It does not contain an endless list of unpronounceable ingredients designed to carefully manipulate the symptoms of your illness. Marijuana is a natural medicine whose potential applications have not yet begun to scratch the surface.

When Children With Special Needs Grow Up

According to a study published in the Yale Journal of Biology and Medicine, more than half a million children with special needs turn 18 every year. Turning 18, however, doesn’t mean the conditions which gave these children the “special needs” label are suddenly gone; in truth, most such new adults are going to require as much or more ongoing intervention in order to navigate an ever-increasingly-complex world.

Lost in the Shuffle

The most significant obstacle for children with special needs as they ‘age out’ of pediatric care programs designed to help them effectively utilize the resources of public schooling is that their need for care doesn’t decrease — but the resources available for care do. Most of the funding that supports children with special needs comes from a single law: the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, or IDEA. That Act only provides resources for people up to 20 or 21 years of age (depending on the state law that distributes the funds.)

Not Just the Extreme Cases

This is compounded by the fact that, as a culture, Americans are firmly attached to the notion of personal responsibility. Once you’re an adult, you’re expected to be able to deal with the ‘minor stuff’ on your own. If you’re not quote-unquote “legitimately” disabled — if you have, for example, “mere” ADHD or a high-functioning autism-spectrum disorder like Asperger’s Syndrome — you’re not supposed to need any help anymore. As any parent of a child with special needs can tell you, that’s a ridiculous assumption.

More Than You Think

If half of a million children doesn’t seem like that big of a number to you, consider that only 3.3 million kids graduated from high school in 2014 — and the dropout rate was only 7% overall, meaning we’re looking just over 3.5 million kids turning 18 total. That half-million, then, represents about 1 out of every 7 children. That’s a huge proportion of our population that we’re essentially dropping the ball on as they age out of the single program that has made their care possible for the last 12 years of their lives.

What Comes Next?

Unfortunately, the next step isn’t a well-defined one. For some no-longer-children with special needs, it consists largely of continuing to live with their parents and struggling to find a job or a form of continuing education that will adapt itself to their needs. According to study published in the Official Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics, two years after graduating from high school, 50% of new adults diagnosed with an autism-spectrum disorder still hadn’t successfully obtained any paid work experience or secondary education. Studies on other forms of special-needs individual are hard to come by, unfortunately.

One thing is certain: dealing with the half-million new special-needs adults entering our population every year is a challenge we’re all going to have to face — and soon. The option of ignoring the problem simply doesn’t reasonably exist.

Sinus Infection Treatment Using Herbal Remedies

Sinus infections are quite annoying and painful due to the swelling and accumulated mucus that hampers your breathing. This condition could be triggered by many factors including fungal infection, food allergies, environmental allergies, dental allergies, and flu and cold symptoms. To prevent the symptoms from being more severe, some natural remedies are given to combat them.

1. Make a hot soup by including cayenne, garlic, onion, pepper and horseradish as the ingredients. Each one of these spices has a great property to eliminate excess mucus from your respiratory system. For less-comfortable alternative, mix a full teaspoon of horseradish with lemon juice. This trick will help you eliminating the mucus faster.

2. Apart from putting cayenne into your soup, you can use it alone to relief the sinus infection symptoms. Mix a teaspoon of cayenne pepper into a glass of water, then drink the solution. This works as effective as the horseradish method.

3. Another great remedy for treating sinus infection is by using fresh St. Johns Wort, Stinging Nettle and Plantain. Add one teaspoon of each ingredients into three cups of hot, boiled water. Let steep for 3 to 6 minutes to make a tea. Drink a cup of the tea in the morning and repeat at noon and evening while the remainder still fresh. With some luck, you will not need to follow the instructions on the second day, as the symptoms will be immediately eliminated.

4. Treating sinus infection can also be done by drinking a shot of Noni juice a few times a day. Although does not taste good, Noni juice is a great remedy for the problem. You can find bottled Noni juice at health food store nearby your home.

5. Grapefruit seed extract has powerful properties to combat fungi, bacteria, parasites, microbes and viruses. It is also great for treating sinus infections. Use the extract as a nasal spray (find it easily at drugstores) and you will notice that the symptoms will leave you in no time.

6. Prepare 6 ounces of water and put 1 to 2 teaspoons of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar into it. To make the solution more digestible, you can add a teaspoon of stevia or raw honey. Drink the concoction three times a day for five consecutive days. The apple cider vinegar is great for mucus congestion, so that it could be eliminated easily.

7. As sinus infection may be triggered by food allergies, steer clear from the triggers such as milk, yoghurt, cheese and ice cream. Avoiding these foods is necessary for faster recovery from the symptoms.

Fresh Bread Or Acupuncture

I walked past two bakeries on my way into my first acupuncture appointment; I stopped and took a deep breath. The deep breath was for several reasons: First, the smell of fresh baked bread coming from the bakeries stopped me in my tracks. It was comfortable and familiar. Second, I was apprehensive and wanted to walk into a situation I knew. The deep breath was also because I was afraid to keep walking. I loved the idea of acupuncture, but now that I was walking towards the Community Acupuncture Center instead of acting on the urge to run as fast as I could into the bakery next door, I was second-guessing myself.

The unknown is always scary, but the stepping out of your comfort zone is the scariest and let me tell you – this was way past my comfort zone. However, my croissant thumbs started to hurt again and I was willing to try anything to alleviate the pain. "You're gonna feel high when you leave," "You feel stoned when you're done," "Acustoned," were all things I heard when people described how I would feel when I was finished. However, having never been stoned or high before in my life, I had no idea what to expect.

After a brief intake and trey guessing that I was a baker, he led me into a large open room with recliners (the kind Joey and Chandler had in Friends) lining the walls. The room was only lit with calming lamps and there was the familiar sound of massage music. As I picked a chair and put my stuff in the basket next to me, I was already feeling calm. I did not even feel the needles going in until Trey reached my thumbs; I almost jumped out of my skin and had to fight the urge to punch Trey in the throat. I, as calmly as I could, told him that really hurt and he apologized pulling the needle out slowly and instantly the pain was gone.

I laid back in my recliner, put the eye mask over my eyes and took a deep breath in and then let it out; this was going to be great. Suddenly, as I lay there with my eyes covered, all I could see was purple. The purple was swirling around like waves crashing against rocks. I felt like I was floating around inside the aurora borealis. As I just lay there watching all the purple and listening to the calming music I felt there, but not there.

I took off my eye mask, put my chair upright, signaling to Trey that I was done with my treatment. Trey came over, took the needles out, and I walked out of the room. On my way out I passed a clock, I had been sitting there for over an hour, but it felt like 15 minutes. I barely remember paying or making my next appointment, which apparently was four days later, but I do remember having the conscious thought that I was glad I only lived 2 miles from the place, because I was not sure how exactly I was going to drive home.

Joint Pain in Hands and Feet – 5 Treatments Your Doctor Won’t Prescribe

If you’re currently suffering from joint pain in the hands and feet, it’s quite common that your local practitioner will prescribe you one of the following non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs – pronounced “en-saids”.

NSIADs Generic Names:

  • Plaquenil
  • Neurontin
  • Paracetamol
  • Tylenol
  • Naproxen
  • Nabumetone
  • Naproxen
  • Ibuprofen

Word of Caution:

If you suffer from any kidney, liver or heart disorder and are on medication then taking any one of these is out of the question, as they can both intensify or diminish their effects, plus the longer you use NSAIDs, the severity and risks of developing any side-effects increases, so these are only to be used short-term.

They can be useful for some, but for many and especially those who have high blood pressure will be particularly sensitive to this type of medication, so the pain will still intensify and remain constant, thus the next option your rheumatologist or osteopath will suggest will be to try steroids or have an anti-inflammatory injection.

This is typical of medical practitioners in the West, who will only suggest more prescription techniques which pose more risk to your health than NSAIDs, and where research shows they are again for the short term and offer little long-term relief.

5 Arthritis Treatments Your Doctor Won’t Prescribe

There are additional home treatments and practices you can undertake yourself however which pose no risk to your health, and offer long-term pain relief to this disease.

1. Paraffin Bath

In the U.S these can be purchased at Wally World or most drug stores, and are available also in Europe and online.

Designed for feet and hands, you heat the bath at least a few hours before needing to use it. Be sure to add the paraffin as this is especially good for promoting circulation and the orange oil that comes with it adds a nice aroma to the experience.

It also has the added advantage of removing dead skin and strengthening your nails.

2. MSM & Glucosamine Complex Supplements

These are essentially FDA registered homeopathic pain relievers, Eazol, JointKote and JointAdvance being the most popular in the U.S.

They deliver no side-effects and are argued in some quarters to be just if not more effective at relieving pain than NSAIDs, while you can take them on a long-term basis without the risk of damaging any organs.

They also contain magnesium which to date is proven to be far more effective at rebuilding bone density – by some 11% – than calcium supplements which are somewhat debatable.

3. BLUE-EMU Cream

BLUE-EMU is used for both skin disorders and as an anti-inflammatory. It also contains Glucosamine helps relieve joint problems.

Rub a little on the joint when you start to feel the pain kick in. Consumer feedback suggests it really can have an instant effect.

4. Low Compact Exercise

Swimming is wonderful all-round and should definitely be part of your daily if not weekly therapy to strengthen the muscles around the joints, which will provide continual support and help relieve the pain naturally – for the long-term.

If your feet are particularly difficult to walk on, try walking in warm water down your local swimming bath or dangling your legs over the side of the pool and gently moving them up and down for 30 minutes a time.

This again will help circulate the blood and put your joints in much of a better shape for the day.

5. Acupuncture of Hands and Feet

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome occurs in the wrist when the median nerve becomes compressed due to inflammation of one of the tendons it passes by, causing numbness, tingling and wrist pain.

Acupuncture alleviates this, as it can also help reduce inflammation in the feet where it increases blood flow to the foot and the lower leg, providing more mobility to the feet.

Unlike NSAID’s, these 5 methods for treating hand and foot arthritic conditions are:

  1. Completely safe, with absolutely no side-effects.
  2. Much more beneficial for you long-term.
  3. Will help the remission of the disease.
  4. A positive platform for going forward in life.
  5. A change to the norm and the activities that can be enjoyed with friends and family, where keeping your spirit high is crucial for fighting and defeating this disease.

Ping Pong Game – Simple and Fun to Play

Ping pong, other known as table tennis, is a popular indoor sport enjoyed by many around the world in facilities ranging from recreation clubs to school common rooms etc. Ping pong is very similar to tennis in that players on opposite sides of the ping pong table hit the ball back and forth over a net. But similarities end there as ping pong is played on a table surface rather than a hard court, so the name "table tennis." To enjoy a game of ping pong, you need a ping pong ball, a net, ping pong table, and paddles.

Rules of Ping Pong

In a ping pong game the first player to reach 21 points is declared the winner. However, upon one player reaching 21 points with the opponent trailing less than 2 points, the game must continue until one player takes a definite 2 point lead over the opponent, at which point that player is declared the winner.

To start a point the server serves the ball with the paddle to the opponent's side of the ping pong table. If the server fails to serve the ball into play, either by serving the ball into the net or serving it out, the point goes to the opponent. Once the ball is in play either player can score points. The players must hit the ball back to the opponents' side of the table. If one player fails to return the ball to the opponent's side either by netting the ball or hitting it out, the point then goes to the opponent.

To start a point with a serve, the server throws the ping pong ball up at least 6 inches and as it comes down the server hits the ball with the paddle. Before crossing over the net the served ball must hit the server's part of the table first before bouncing a second time on the opponent's side. After the serve the ball remains in play as long as it clears the net and builds once on the opponent's side of the table with each stroke. The point ends either when a player hits the ball into the net, or when the ball goes out without bouncing at all on the opponent's side of the table, at which time the opponent earns a point.

Ping pong games can be played as a single as well as a doubles game. In a doubles game, an additional rule is that the ball must be served diagonally across to the opposite court. If the server fails to serve to the diagonal area on the opposite side then the opponent gets the point.

As you can see the rules of the ping pong game is nice and simple enough so that anyone new to ping-pong can easily enjoy a game of ping-pong without much trouble and confusion.

Premature Ejaculation Tips to Help Men Last Longer in Bed

I think it would be safe to say that the mutual contentment of sex partners lies on the ability of each partner to keep up with the performance of the other. But what if the man is not able to control his ejaculation and releases it even before the woman is heated up?

This is termed premature ejaculation and I define it as when the man ejaculates prior to the woman climaxing. With that definition you need to understand that there is no "set" amount of time. The amount of time is determined by how long it takes the woman to climax. So, what could take 10 minutes for one woman may take 20 minutes for another.

Actually, there are ways to counter the effects of PE and to make men last longer than usual. Simple physical exercises are needed to strengthen the muscles in the pelvis and around the urethral canal.

Here are some premature ejaculation tips to follow:

1. Please your female partner first.

Being self-centered does not apply to people who experience PE. One of the ill-effects of PE involves the dissatisfaction of female partners during sex and it only contributes to a worsening condition of the male. It becomes habitual. So start worrying yourself with your partner first and trust me, she will respond when it comes time to take care of you.

2. Eat Food Rich in Zinc.

There must be some truth to the myth of aphrodisiacs. Oysters increase the libido of men. When men have an increased libido, they have a better appetite and engage in sex with their partner more often. And this is the perfect time when the couple can practice the exercises to strengthen the pelvic muscles of the man.

3. Do the start and stop method religiously.

You may be tempted to release the pressure building up in your penis but doing so will not make any difference in your sex life. Just think that you are doing this for your partner, not for yourself. That will probably make it a lot easier for you to control the urge. There are multiple techniques you can use to control your urge but you have to practice them in order to master them.

These premature ejaculation tips, though quite simple, will help men last longer in bed with their sexual partners if the men really want to please their woman. So give these tips a go now and see how it could help improve your performance in bed.

Penis Self-Exam: How to Perform It and Why You Should

Since the dawn of puberty, a man has spent many years getting to know his penis intimately. It's been the object of his attention and affection without challenge. However, while a man is very familiar with the landscape of his penis, he may not be examining it as closely as he thinks. That's why men young and old need to perform regular penis self-exams.

By performing penis self-exams regularly, a man can identify any abnormalities or causes of concern a less formal visit with his penal would yield. Since early detection is the key to beating many issues like cancer and STIs, penis self-exams are especially important. These exams are also an important supplement to annual exams with a physician and can prompt doctor's visits when issues arise, making them the key to good penis health.

Why Do a Penis Self-Exam?

There are many reasons to perform a penal self-exam regularly. One of the major reasons is to check for penile and testicular cancers. When found in their earlier stages, these cancers often have a very positive prognosis, so diligent exams can lead to better outcomes due to early detection. Also, men who are sexually active will want to perform exams to ensure they did not contract or are not in danger of spreading STIs. Many STIs are accompanied by sores, bumps, blisters, changes in skin color, or unusual discharge; however, sometimes a disease in its early stage will appear to "cure itself" only to become more dangerous or even deadly in a later stage. That's why frequent-self-exams are critical.

Penis Self-Exam Frequency

Do a penal self-exam at least once per month. If any issues or abnormalities are discovered, see a doctor immediately and abstain from sex until a doctor provides a clean bill of health.

How to Perform a Penis Self-Exam

For men who are new to giving themselves a penal self-exam, here are a few easy steps to follow:

1) Take a warm shower. This relaxes the muscles and also rinses away anything that may be on the penis, like dead skin cells, dirt, or body fluids, so that the skin is completely natural and ready for an exam.

2) While in the shower, start by checking the scrotum. Look for any changes in skin texture or color.

3) Next, gently roll the testicles between the thumb and forefinger. Feel for any lumps, bumps, or areas that are especially sensitive to touch or painful. There is a small bump that may be felt at the back of the testicles which is called the epididymis, which is a tiny tube that carries sperm and without it's painful, is not a cause for worry.

4) Finally, look over the shaft and head for any lumps, blisters, bumps, sores, or discolorations. It's also a good idea to do a quick scan of the groin and inner thighs as well.

Promoting Penis Health with Proper Hygiene

Giving the penis proper attention on the regular will keep issues like soreness, dryness, irritation, and infections at bay. Here are a few tips for putting a good grooming practice in place that will keep the penis health, happy, and strong for many years to come:

1) Clean it up! Use a gentle cleanser and warm water. Wash daily, after exercise, and after any sexual activities to keep the penis fresh and bacteria free.

2) Flex the fit. Be sure clothes fit well and support the penis without constricting it. Too tight underwear and pants can cause bruising, soreness, and chafing which will not only cause discomfort but cause a moratorium on intimate activities.

3) Moisturize! After cleaning the penis, apply a specially formulated penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which has been clinically proven safe and mild for skin) . This will help not only keep the delicate skin supple and soft, but also promote blood flow, cell turnover, and collagen production for strong skin.
