Natural Oral Thrush Remedies – 5 Ways to Treat Oral Thrush Without Leaving Home

Symptoms of oral thrush include the appearance of creamy, white lesions on the tongue, inner cheeks and sometimes on the roof of the mouth, gums and tonsils with a cottage cheese-like lesions and slight bleeding if the lesions are rubbed or scraped. It is understandable that the person infected with oral thrush may be self-conscious and prefer to stay home during this period.

Even though yeast infection in the mouth is generally not life threatening, it is highly advisable to treat it immediately. This article is to introduce several suggestions for oral thrush remedies that can significantly enhance the healing process while at home.

  • To eliminate the yeasts and bacteria in the mouth, swish the mouth with warm saltwater at least 3 times a day, especially after meals. This will help clean the mouth of food remnants more effectively. Natural unsweetened yoghurt is also one of the best natural oral thrush remedies as it serves as an antibiotic towards thrush. Retain yoghurt in the mouth for a few seconds before swallowing.
  • Garlic and onions possess anti-bacterial properties that can help get rid of mouth thrush. Try adding some raw garlic and onions in your diet. Garlic supplements will also do the trick if you have worries about ‘garlic breath’.
  • Try to refrain from solid food and consume soft liquid food instead. This is because hard, solid food would further bruise the lesions in the mouth and make it more difficult to heal. Vegetable soups cooked with a variety of bright coloured vegetables like pumpkin, carrots, celery, beetroot and bell peppers are beneficial for the healing process as these vegetables contain high levels of antioxidants. Antioxidants are vital to help build up the immune system of the person infected with thrush. Take vitamin supplements like vitamin E, C and A in a higher dosage to help boost the immune system.
  • Sleep early to allow the body and mind to have sufficient rest. A person who is well rested is less prone to physical and emotional stress. It is vital to maintain a healthy physical and emotional well-being as stress is one of the main triggers of thrush. Sleep at least 6 hours a day to ensure that the body has enough rest.
  • Stay away from sugary food as yeasts feed on sugar. Consumption of sugar will cause the yeasts in the mouth to spread more rapidly. If you have a sweet tooth and simply can’t live without something sweet, I would recommend that you take some fresh fruits which are high in nutrients and vitamins as opposed to sweet processed food.

Oral thrush should be treated immediately to avoid the yeasts from spreading further into the throat which by then would be difficult to recover. All the oral thrush remedies recommended in this article are only a few of the many ways to cure oral yeast infection. There are many other effective treatments available that could cure oral thrush more rapidly.

Alcohol And The Liver

No heavy drinker can afford to underestimate the problems of damaging their liver. In some cases, those with cirrhosis may be fortunate enough to receive a liver transplant, but this is only likely to be granted if the individual concerned remains completely dry for at least six months beforehand. So anyone who has been abusing alcohol for any period of time is well advised to consult their GP, who can use scans and blood tests to assess what damage you have caused. They can also provide timely advice on how to cut down and adopt healthier drinking patterns which can reduce the chances of liver disease and other alcohol related problems such as hypertension and depression. Unfortunately, unlike with many other medical conditions, the early signs of liver disease are not always easy to spot by the drinker themselves because the liver has very few nerve ends, and by the time the drinker is feeling any significant pain it could well be too late to make a recovery. If spotted early enough, however, mild liver damage can be fairly straightforward to overcome because the liver has a remarkable ability to repair itself. So seeking professional advice at the first possibility if you know you have been drinking well in excess of the government’s recommended safety guidelines is the surest way of avoiding a death sentence.

Your liver is responsible for processing the alcohol you drink and eliminating it from the body by breaking it down into water, gas and fat. But this is only one of hundreds of important jobs it does. So it starts experiencing considerable strain if you drink heavily. It essentially has to start doing overtime if you drink more than about half a pint of beer or its equivalent an hour.

Just as some employees who are continuously asked to work unreasonable hours handle the strain better than others, no two livers can be guaranteed to react to the excess demands placed on them in exactly the same way. The difference between a disgruntled employee and a disgruntled liver is that the employee is likely to make their feelings known at a relatively early stage.

If you accidentally put your finger on an oven hotplate, you are likely to take it away again pretty quickly. Unfortunately, the liver has no such built-in safety mechanism because it has very few nerve ends. It is therefore quite possible that a problem drinker will not experience any physical pain until they have entered the final stages of alcoholic liver disease, by which time it could be too late to make a recovery.

For this reason it is important that anyone who suspects they have been drinking too heavily for a prolonged period should seek medical advice. Trying to feel your liver at the bottom of your rib cage is unlikely to tell you anything, but doctors can detect damage by using blood tests and, if required, scans.

Fortunately, if liver damage can be spotted early enough it can normally be reversed, because most livers are sufficiently tough to withstand serious abuse by replacing damaged cells with healthy ones. Two or three years of heavy drinking, or 10 or 20 years of drinking slightly over the government’s recommended guidelines, can cause significant damage without being accompanied by any symptoms. Although, if you then stop drinking or cut down to safe levels, the liver may be able to carry on working.

There is, however, the danger that the liver will eventually conclude that enough is enough. The final stages of liver disease occur when it finally runs out of healthy cells and develops cirrhosis. Once it has developed cirrhosis, your liver can’t recover, although you can prevent further damage and increase your chances of survival if you stop drinking.

In the very final stages of cirrhosis, the liver becomes so damaged that the whole body becomes poisoned by waste products which the liver has become unable to deal with. This will lead to the failure of major organs, which is likely to prove fatal. The dying process is also likely to be very painful.

The Dangers of Undercooked Foods

Undercooked food is one of the most common ways that food borne diseases are spread. Most raw foods, particularly animal products, must be cooked thoroughly to kill any bacteria that may be present. Meats, for example, have an optimal internal temperature to which they should be cooked to minimize the risk of illness. When bacteria on foods are not completely eliminated, there is a chance that they could infect the consumer and cause a serious illness. Restaurants and other places that prepare food have a responsibility to serve clean, fully cooked food to their customers. When they fail to cook foods to the appropriate temperatures, they may be liable for any illnesses that result.

Food Borne Disease & Sources of Infection

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that about 76 million cases of food poisoning occur every year in the United States, affecting about 20-25% of the population annually. Of these cases, about 5,000 people are estimated to die from food borne disease each year. Some of the most common sources of infection are animal products, including turkey, beef, chicken, pork, eggs, and seafood. These products may become infected with bacteria while they are being processed. In the U.S., two types of bacteria that frequently cause infection are E. coli and Salmonella. The full cooking process destroys any bacteria that may have colonized on food products, rendering them safe to eat.

Recommended Internal Cooking Temperatures

Each type of product has a different optimal temperature for killing latent bacteria. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) lists the following internal temperatures as the threshold for being safe to consume:

  • Chicken: 165 F
  • Egg products: 160 F
  • Fish: 145 F
  • Ground beef: 160 F
  • Pork: 160 F
  • Steaks: 145 F

Consequences of Food Poisoning

Food poisoning is incredibly unpleasant for most people but typically lasts for only 1-2 days. For some however, a more severe case of food poisoning can cause a serious illness or even death. Children, the elderly, and others with weaker immune systems are more likely to develop severe food borne illness. Symptoms of food poisoning include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and a high fever. An individual who falls seriously ill may be burdened with costs for extensive treatment, hospital stays, rehabilitation, medication, lost wages from time off of work, and pain and suffering.

If you or someone you love has fallen ill or suffered a wrongful death from a food borne illness caused by undercooked food, a food establishment may be liable and your family may be entitled to compensation for your injuries and damages.

Some Hard Facts About Hyper-Acidity!

Almost every one of us experiences acidity or heartburn some times or the other. Blame it on faulty diet or lack of exercise, hyperacidity is one of the commonest conditions we observe in medical practice. The condition gives rise to heartburn (burning in chest), loss of appetite, vomiting sensation, nausea, vague discomfort or pain in upper abdomen, and at times frank vomiting. Today medical community is worried about recurrent acid reflux disease, as it may be the sign of early cardiac malady or esophageal adenocarcinoma too. No doubt, instead of gulping antacid tablets, one must consult physician if he or she is experiencing such spells recurrently.

We all know that hyperacidity results due to variety of causes. But in day to day clinical practice, I have observed some causes those slip our mind while counting the causes of acid reflux disease. Let’s see-

(1) Irregular meals: In almost one third of my patients, I observe this as an important cause. Blame it on packed schedules or just laziness to have timely meals, but this is one of the chief causes of hyperacidity. You skip meals and the condition worsens. Explanation for a layman is simple. Tell me where should all that acid go that is created for digesting your food go? According to ancient health sciences, it is known that there are certain times during the day when the acid (digestive acid or bile) production is at its peak. It is also observed that it is produced maximally around 11am to 1 pm. If you do not have your meals during this time, that acid is not given any task of digestion and it sets out to trouble you. That’s why diet-experts ask us to steer clear of fasting and stuff alike. When I asked my patients to follow stricter meal times, surprisingly 90% of them reported betterment in their acidity symptoms.

(2) Post-meal nap: Today we all agree with the fact that power-nap enhances work efficiency. But when should we have power nap? Immediately after food? No! In my clinical practice, I have seen many patients who say the post-meal dozing is must for them. And they tend to lie down immediately after meals. I studied the patients of acidity those used to sleep immediately after food. Around 70% of patients reported increase in their acidity immediately after getting up from sleep. Those without a tendency of acidity too developed discomfort in stomach when they slept immediately after food. When I told them to leave a gap of about 1 and ½ hours or the least 1 hour after food, they tend to develop fewer acidic spells. Further it also helped them to lessen their fat absorption and thus reduce weight to some extent, as sleeping immediately after food is also one of the causes of obesity.

(3) Taking antacid tablets recurrently: This I would like to explain on the basis of principles of homeopathy. More you suppress the expression of inner disharmony, more it will emerge to deteriorate the system further. Similarly, the antacid tablets try to suppress the acidity and this suppression leads later to exaggerated acidity and heartburn. Reduce the dosage of antacid tablets and opt for some natural acidity reliever like homeopathic medicine and the acidity is gone.

(4) Drinking less water: In the clinical practice, I have seen that if you want to point your finger to a causative factor that leads to largest number of diseases, I will point it to lack of adequate water intake. So many known and unknown symptoms can be relieved just by increasing water intake. Almost all my prescriptions contain a bottom line- drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water per day, irrespective of the type of disease I am treating. This free ingredient in our body is thankfully available free of cost (I m not talking of bottled water) and we can nullify or prevent the upcoming maladies just by drinking more water. If you fail to keep track of how much water you are drinking, fill in a container with 10 glasses of water. You can go beyond it but not short of it. Acid is diluted with water intake when in excess. That’s why ancient sciences recommend drinking water in between the meals but not immediately after meals that may cause indigestion due to dilution of acid needed for digestion.

(5) Late night meals: In ancient Hindu literature, meals are prohibited after 12 midnight. Going against the body’s circadian rhythm will make you suffer with symptoms like acidity and/or migraine. As mentioned above, after late night meal, one tends to sleep immediately, which is also one of the causes for acidity.

(6) Junk food: When I see children eating bags of kurkure every day and their parents worrying about their lack of appetite and nausea, I wonder! Why can’t we stop the habit of such nasty practices? When our children are young and impressionable, you give them such junk food, they grow with that habit, and when they reach knowledgeable age, you want them to get rid of the habit. Is it sensible? It does not mean deprive them of the food that they love. But putting strings to the frequency of eating is in the hands of parents. Such things lead to acidity in future. Also we can try to give them better food alternatives those are equally tasty but healthy. If you do not want to cater blames of your young ones of suffering from horrendous acidity spells later in life, do something now! It might be late tomorrow!

(7) Lack of physical activity: Well, the last but the most important points. When I studied the female patients of acidity those were housewives and were spending time in sedentary recreational activities like watching TV for many hours in a day, the findings were astonishing. Despite leading a luxury life, these were the women who were the victims of acidity and migraines more than others. To be precise, 70% of women reported acidity at least twice or thrice a month. Same results were observed in people like us; I mean sedentary office workers. Around 60% of so-called brainy people suffer from acidity quite frequently. Intensity-wise, the acidic spells in these people were found to be more intense than the above mentioned house-wives (making us think if stress is also a contributing factor). On the contrary, when I studied working-class women (those who work in fields and earn livelihood by strenuous work whole day), the acidity was found in less than 15% of cases. Nothing more need be said! Exercise and you will steer clear of hyperacidity!

Well, no doubt, there are tendencies to acidity in some people. Genetic factors may play a role too. However, by following certain rules given in above points, we can modify those nasty tendencies. And when this is followed by apt homeopathic treatment, one can get totally cured of hyperacidity; something we all wish for!

5 Great Herbs For Acid Reflux

Taking herbs for acid reflux may be a beneficial way to avoid heartburn so you don’t ever have to worry about confusing heartburn symptoms with a heart attack. Herbs can help you stop heartburn before it starts which will help you limit the number of antacids or other medications you may take for heartburn relief.

There are various herbs used as health remedies, but only some are truly effective at preventing and relieving acid reflux. The following are 5 effective herbs for acid reflux.

1 – Black Pepper – This is an aromatic herb that enhances taste, improves gastric circulation, and stimulates digestion. Black pepper can be added to recipes or can be an additional feature to prepared meals. For best results, use a small (approximately a tsp.) amount of fresh black pepper whole and grind it over food.

2 – Indian long pepper – Indian long pepper is a powerful stimulant for digestion, and is one of the most recommended for enhancing digestion, assimilation, and metabolism for foods ingested. In addition, Indian long peppers are fantastic herbs for acid reflux disease, as studies have found it can provide considerable protection against the development of gastric ulcers.

Indian long pepper should be taken in small amounts (approximately a tsp.), and can be purchased dry and used in recipes, or added to meals for flavor. Simply crush the pepper to add it to food. Keep in mind that if you use too much, the flavor can become too intense, and you may find it too hot to eat.

3 – Ginger – Ginger has been used for thousands of years to aid in digestion and treat stomach distress such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Ginger is one of the most highly effective herbs for acid reflux, and it is likely the most pure. The effectiveness of ginger is due to its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and analgesic properties.

Fresh ginger root can be added to recipes or added as an extra garnish to a finished meal. Ginger can also be taken in powder form and in tea.Ginger is considered to be one of the safest herbal remedies to take, and you can ingest moderate amounts of it daily (I.E. tsp. of powder ginger, or an inch of a ginger root). However, be advised that if taken excessively, it may lead to mild heartburn.

4 – Liquorice – Liquorice is a powerful herb and anti-inflammatory that studies have found are showing much promise as inhibiting the development of ulcers, wounds on the mucous membran, and gastritis. Liquorice also acts like an antacid.

Liquorice was also found to improve the secretion status of Brunner’s gland, which is located throughout the duodenum system. Brunner’s gland works to protect against the development of duodenal ulcers. Liquorice is available in powder form and can be taken in tea. A cup of tea or 3 tsp. of powder liquorice daily is considered safe to take. High doses of liquorice can lead to symptoms such as headache, water retention and high blood pressure.

5 – Indian gooseberry – Indian gooseberry is a fruit that has been used to treat peptic ulcers and ingestion that is non-ulcer related. Studies have found Indian gooseberry to have considerable antioxidant effects, and it significantly reduced gastric mucosal injury and acid secretion. Indian gooseberry is made up of cell-protective properties as well as antiulcer, and antisecretory properties.

You can eat an Indian gooseberry raw with a little salt, or you can take it in powder form and in the form of tea. This herb is not associated with side effects, but should still be ingested in moderation, as it can act as a laxative if eaten in copious amounts.

When considering herbs for acid reflux, keep in mind that you shouldn’t take herbs as a form of medicinal treatment without first consulting your doctor about your plans. This is because some herbs may interact with other herbs, with medications you may currently be taking, or other health conditions you may have.

How to Write a Case Study Report

Do you need to describe in detail the effectiveness of a project, or document the situation or experiences of an individual or a group of people? This sort of detailed study is called a case study.

Case studies are used to test hypotheses, help plan for real-world problems, and generate a discussion of potential needs and solutions, among other things. For example, a pharmaceutical company might do a case study to determine how a group of individuals has benefited from a drug therapy, or a school administrator might do a case study to show whether or not individual students have benefited from tutoring programs.

Case study reports are usually complete standalone documents. However, if you write business proposals or grant applications, you may find that including summaries of case studies within your proposal can show how your product or service has benefited groups or provided the solution to needs in the past.

Each case study report should include these sections within the body of the report:

Goal(s) of the study. Do you want to determine whether a past process, product, or service has been successful in order to modify it for future use? Are you trying to determine if there’s a need for a product or service among a certain group of people, or show the benefits of a project your organization has done in the past?

A hypothesis or proposition you want to test. Depending on your organization, this might be demonstrating that a group has a specific need or that recipients of a product or service benefited in measurable ways.

The specific questions you want to answer. These will be derived from the goals and hypothesis of the study.

The methodology (how information was collected). This might include interviews, measurements, sampling, and so forth. Be sure to include all relevant details such as schedules, dates and times, locations, and personnel who performed the collection. You may want to summarize this information in the body of the report and include details in an appendix.

Participants. How did you select participants or subjects for the study? What is each participant’s background and history?

The data that was or will be collected. Depending on what you are studying, this section could include videos, transcripts of interviews, collections of documents, descriptions of test results, recorded observations & all kinds of topics could go in this section. If your data is extensive, you may want to summarize it in the body of your report and provide the details in an appendix.

Analysis of the data. This section is likely to include statistical summaries and patterns found in the data.

Conclusions. Were your questions answered? Did the study meet the goals? Was the hypothesis supported or refuted? What are the implications for the future?

As with any report, you’ll start off with a title page and a table of contents. You’ll probably want to include a summary of the important summary points, too, for the high-level readers who will only skim your report. After the body of the report, you may need all sorts of appendices, too & lists of statistics, diagrams, charts, a bibliography or list of sources, and so forth.

Remember to always keep your readers in mind. What do they know about you and the study? What do you need to tell them so they can judge the results? You may need to include background information about your organization, the resumes of personnel who participated, your training or education credentials, and so forth.

It’s important that your case study sounds professional, so be sure to proofread every page. If possible, get someone who is unfamiliar with the study to read and comment on your work. It’s always a good idea to choose a reviewer with a similar background to your readers so that he or she can ask appropriate questions and provide useful comments to improve your report.

You also want your report to look professional, too. Make sure your completed document is carefully formatted and looks visually appealing. You can include your company logo and colors, or opt for a more general purpose color and logo design scheme. Color and visual aspects should be used sparingly, and to enhance the overall presentation. Colors and graphics can be used to draw attention to certain elements and help break up the text to make reading easier. Its common to add a colorful title page cover to the first page.

There’s no need to start each section of your case study report by staring at a blank page. Use a kit of pre-designed topics to get started faster. Also use a kit which includes samples of all kinds of proposals and studies, too. This will dramatically accelerate your case study and other business document creation time.

Snoring and Heart Disease: Why Does Snoring Leads to Heart Failure

Recent studies have revealed that snoring and heart disease is related. Heavy snoring is a symptom of a common health condition, sleep apnea. Sleep apnea causes interruption of breathing for more than ten seconds during sleep. This is also a possible symptom of heart disease. Sleep apnea is common among men. It specifically attacks men who are suffering from coronary artery disease (CAD).

Studies and researches conducted over the past twenty years have linked snoring and heart disease. Some researchers have concluded snoring and high blood pressure similar in nature. Hypertension was not taken seriously by medical practitioners until researches linked it to serious heart diseases. Studies also revealed that treating hypertension can reduce the risk of heart-disease to a significant amount.

Researchers have concluded direct link between snoring and cardiovascular diseases. A shocking study in Sweden published in the Journal Sleep (2008) revealed that heavy snorers are more vulnerable to fatal heart diseases. They carry more chances of dying of a heart attack.

Why does snoring leads to heart failure?

People snoring heavily tend to develop breath ceasing periods. They also suffer from fragmented sleep (sleep deprivation). Fragmented sleep can cause stress on the heart.

Snoring arouses people from sleep. These are usually subconscious arousals. During this process, the blood pressure is rising and falling up and down during sleep. This rises in blood pressure and the heart requires working harder against upstream resistance.

The oxygen level of a snorer dips during the night. This is the major cause for heart muscles getting stiff. It faces problems to relax and fill smoothly. Hence, the heart is unable to pump efficiently just as it would do with high levels of oxygen.

It is important to find solutions that can relieve or cease snoring. There are several techniques that can be applied to treat snoring. These include natural ways, usage of over the counter solutions and surgery. One can adopt various treatment options such as sleeping on their side, losing weight, using nasal strips, sprays and medications.

Most people do consider the relation between snoring and heart disease seriously. They are under a notion that cardiovascular diseases are related to diabetes, smoking, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and family history. However, it is crucial to know about the potential health risks of snoring and look out for possible solutions. Testing for CAD and chronic snoring can help you find adept solution for your problem. Sleep apnea causes interruption of breathing for more than ten seconds during sleep. This is also a possible symptom of heart disease. Sleep apnea is common among men. It specifically attacks men who are suffering from coronary artery disease (CAD).

In the civilized worlds of today, TB was supposed to be a thing of the past. Unfortunately, because of lax immigration laws, TB is becoming a major epidemic in the modern world. However, there are some misconceptions about TB test results that I am going to try to put to rest in this article. Hopefully, this will help remove the hysteria from the facts.

First off, for those of you who don’t know what TB is, since this is supposed to be a disease that has long been wiped out, it is caused by a bacteria known as Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This particular bacteria usually attacks the lungs as its primary target, but TB can actually effect many organs in your body such as your kidneys, liver and even your brain. TB can be fatal if not treated immediately.

TB is a disease that is transmitted through the air from person to person. It is highly contagious and those that have active TB are put into immediate quarantine. And therein lies the misconceptions about TB test results.

My wife, who is a school teacher in an urban district, where there are a lot of illegal immigrants, just recently went for a routine physical. After getting some tests back that didn’t look quite right, the doctor decided to test her for TB. Sure enough the test came back positive. Now, my wife, who is normally a very rational person, became quite hysterical, as she understood exactly what that meant. At least she thought she did. The doctor assured her that the test result simply showed that the disease was lying dormant in her system and by simply taking some pills for a number of months, she would be okay. She did NOT have active TB.

If your doctor suspects that you have TB from other tests, usually a build up of calcium somewhere, and gives you a TB test that you test positive for, it is most likely as latent TB infection if you have no symptoms and don’t feel sick. If this is the case, you cannot spread TB to others. However, if you do not get treatment for the latent disease, it can turn into active TB and become very serious.

How long the latent infection will take to become active depends on the individual. Some people have latent TB their whole lives and never become ill from it. Others become ill quite soon. It all depends on how good your immune system is. That is why, during the course of treatment for latent TB, the patient is given a strong dose of vitamins, especially vitamin B 6.

While TB is a very deadly disease when active, don’t let a positive skin test send you into a panic. If you are feeling okay, most likely it is latent TB and can be easily treated. Treatment takes about 9 months, but once you’ve been treated you will be immune to the disease from that point on.

Small Businesses – Measuring Peformance From The Learning and Growth Perspective

The learning and growth perspective is the fourth and final perspective of the balanced scorecard approach, as developed by Kaplan and Norton. This perspective focusses on measuring the performance of the business in relation to the organisational learning and growth required to fulfill it’s organisational intent.

Traditionally, businesses have focussed on setting short-term financial goals. The inherent danger in this practice, is that it encourages short-term behaviours, with employees doing what they need to in order to qualify for financial incentives. The adverse affects of these types of measures in the long-term, is that the business suffers from the consistent failure to enhance employee, system and organisational capabilities. These shortcomings will not show in the short run, which only serves to hide the problems which will eventually impact on the business.

The balanced scorecard approach stresses the importance of investing for the future, not just in traditional investments, such as research, development, equipment and technology, but also in the development of the people, infrastructure, systems and procedures in the organisation.

There are three areas of focus for the learning and growth perspective:

1. Employee capabilities

2. Information systems capabilities

3. Motivation, empowerment, and alignment

Measuring Employee Capabilities

Simply doing the same job repeatedly, at the same level of efficiency and productivity is not enough to keep your business operating successfully. Simply doing the same thing you were doing yesterday, is in effect, going backwards, because while you are keeping still, your competitors are becoming, faster, cheaper and better. If you do not keep up, your business will soon be rendered obsolete.

Increasingly, ideas for improving processes and business performance for customers will need to come from the employees who are closest to the business processes, and to your customers. In the knowledge economy, it pays to invest in developing employee capabilities, so their minds and creative abilities can be used to achieve your business goals and objectives.

The core performance measures usually employed are:

* Employee Satisfaction

* Employee Retention

* Employee Productivity

* Competency Matrix (Organisational Competencies required versus Employee Competencies)

Measuring Information Systems Capabilities

For employees to operate successfully – they need accurate and timely information on customers, on internal processes and on the consequences of the decisions they make. Appropriate information systems are required to deliver this information rapidly.

While Kaplan and Norton do not suggest any generic measures of performance in this area, there are a few suggestions, such as:

* Strategic Information Coverage Ratio (Amount of Strategic information required versus Amount System currently delivers)

* Information Delivery Cycle Time

* Data Quality

* Uptime Availability

* Cost per Query

Measuring Motivation, empowerment and alignment

No matter how skilled an employee, they will not contribute to the organisational goals unless they are motivated to do so, or if they feel that they do not have the freedom to make decisions and take action. So it is important to have measures in place that provide an indication of the level of employee motivation, empowerment and alignment. Measures suggested include:

* Number of Suggestions

* Suggestions implemented

* Improvement measures – Reduction of Time, Improved Quality, Cost Savings, etc

* Communication of Goals and Objectives

* Implementation of Goals and Objectives (and progress against)

The Balanced Scorecard is all about maintaining a balanced view of your business’s performance and putting the reins of management in your hands. The learning and growth perspective ensures you do not take a short-term view of business’s performance and encourages small business owners to invest in activities and behaviours that are an investment in it’s people, it’s systems and it’s future.

How To Starve Cancer Cells Naturally

In this article I’m going to explain the medical revolution that is happening around us that will teach you how to starve cancer cells naturally by controlling something called angiogenesis.

Angiogenesis is the natural process that our bodies use to grow blood vessels.

There are over 60,000 miles worth of blood vessels in the human body. To help you visualize what an impressive statistic this is, realize that 60,000 miles worth of anything is enough miles to circle the entire world twice.

Angiogenesis allows your body to create blood vessels that can adapt to any type of condition in the human body. If this is not regulated, it can cause overgrowth diseases such as cancer, blindness, arthritis endometriosis, and multiple sclerosis. This is because your angiogenesis system can develop defects which in turn can cause long term health problems.

In order to prune back and regulate out of control angiogenesis, it is important to learn how to stave cancer cells naturally. According to renowned Dr. Li, “Angiogenesis is the main root of all cancers.” Cancer cells cannot grow into large life risking tumors without sufficient amounts of capillaries feeding them lots of oxygen and nutrient rich blood.

There are over 19 billion capillaries; which are the smallest blood vessels that we have in the human body. If these capillaries grow out of control due to a defective angiogenesis system, cancer is likely to develop.

The majority of humans walk around every day carrying unknown microscopic cancer cell clusters that are undeveloped. Luckily for human beings as long as your body has the ability to balance angiogenesis properly it will prevent your blood vessels from forming to feed these microscopic tumors.

Anti- angiogenic therapy is a method of cutting off the blood supply to microscopic cancer cell clusters in time. This is possible because tumor vessels are highly abnormal and poorly constructed, so they are very vulnerable to treatment methods that directly starve them.

There are dozens of different anti-angiogenic cancer drugs that according to Doctor Li “Have significantly increased survival rates in cancer patients, however, even more important there are also ways to starve cancer naturally before it develops.”

The main method used to starve angiogenesis is to consume the large number of super foods that have the power to starve the microscopic cancerous growths before they can become a problem. There are many herbs, beverages, and foods that are naturally occurring and have the power and ability to inhibit angiogenesis.

Consuming these super foods can improve your body’s self regulation system and prevent blood vessels from forming and feeding microscopic tumors that exist in the majority of humans at any given time.

What types of foods are anti-angiogneic?

A great example of anti-angiogenic foods can be found in red grapes.

Red grapes contain resveratrol, which is a fat-soluble compound found in its skin.

Reveratrol has been shown to inhibit abnormal angiogenesis by 60 % according to Dr. Li. In recent years, a great number of studies have shown that resveratrol causes a unique type of death in cells containing cancer.

The best part of anti-angiogenic foods is that they happen to be delicious. Cherries, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries are chock full of anti-angiogenic power. Comforting beverages like green tea, and red wine also have anti-angiogenic powers. Cooking ingredients like tomatoes, artichokes, kale, garlic, parsley, turmeric, and maitake mushrooms are not only easy to use in almost every meal, but they also contain powerful anti-angiogenic powers.

The real power behind starving cancer naturally using anti-angiogenic treatments is not picking one food or beverage to increase your bodies natural ability to regulate your angiogenic system, but the amazing synergy that happens when you use them together. As a result, not only do you avoid processed food, you are creating an entire diet that is full of organic foods.

You may be wondering if this treatment can be as effective as taking powerful toxic drugs that are also anti-angiogenic. Well, according to Dr. Li there are many foods that have been proven to be just as effective. Foods like red grapes, parsley, and garlic have equal anti-angiogenic effectiveness when compared to various other anti-angiogenic drugs, but without the toxic effects.

Airborne Klebsiella Pneumonia and Infections

Airborne Klebsiella pneumonia can affect the lungs in a rapid and severe onset of illness, with the most common infection being pneumonia. If left unchecked, the mortality rate caused by the infection can be high due to complications from other preexisting illnesses of the patient, and with the tendency of the Klebsiella pneumonia to cause lung destruction and pockets of pus in the lungs (also known as abscesses) that can lead to death.

If air containing the airborne virus is inhaled by individuals with a weakened immune system, or immuno-compromised patients regardless the underlying causes, it can cause Klebsiella infections and complications. People susceptible to succumb to illness include those already suffering from diseases, such as diabetes, chronic pulmonary disease and chronic lung disease, or having some health destructive habits such as alcoholism or being a chain smoker. The symptoms include high fever, flu-like symptoms, chills, aches, and a bad cough with a lot of sputum. The sputum is thick and blood tinged.

The emergence of new antibiotic resistant strains of Klebsiella pneumonia is worrying, and it is increasingly found as a nosocomial infection. Nosocomial infection is an infection that is acquired in the hospital or health care center but secondary to the patient’s initial admission condition. This new mutated type of antibiotic-resistant strain, is known as super-bugs, and are very difficult to treat.

Even natural spontaneous human actions such as breathing and sneezing can release the airborne bacteria into the air from animals or humans harboring the respiratory bacteria. If inhaled by those whose immune systems have been weakened or compromised, it may cause serious diseases. Particles containing the Klebsiella bacteria can remain airborne for several hours. This poses a risk for it to be a contagious respiratory pathogen.
