Depression, Anxiety and Hypertension Treatment

Dream treatment is ideal for all types of mental illnesses and conditions, and will certainly help you overcome your depression, anxiety and hypertension once you learn how to decipher the hidden messages contained in your own dreams, giving you information about you and the world where you are.

Depression is always following you if you are too anxious and hypertensive, because you cannot find peace and satisfaction anywhere.

Your dreams will organize your thoughts and your daily life, showing you what is really important for your happiness.

Anxiety is part of your daily reactions when you are always afraid of failure and many other dangers. You’ll learn how to feel confident and trust your capacities, besides learning what will happen in the future, so that you may correct what could have bad results.

You’ll also learn how to be wise and forgive everyone’s mistakes, without expecting too much from anyone.

The truth about the human psyche and the world where you live will give you notions that will calm you down, and you’ll stop being a bomb ready to explode, becoming a sensible and sensitive human being, able to think and feel before acting, and able to discern the right solutions among all the possibilities and impossibilities of the external reality.

The dream language is made of scenes and images that give you information and many lessons about everything. Once you learn it, the confused images you see when you sleep will acquire meaning, and you’ll be able to see what exists inside you and what determines your behavior. This way, you won’t live dominated by your wild self, due to the interference of the anti-conscience (your primitive conscience) into the human side of your conscience.

You’ll learn so many things about your personality and about the personality of all the people that you know, that you’ll feel superior.

The truth is that you’ll really be superior from the common human beings that live making mistakes and repeating them throughout their lives. The wise unconscious mind that produces your dreams will guide you, and show you how to transform your personality, so that you may be always balanced and never make any mistakes.

Your depression will give place to a good new disposition and courage, when you discover all your hidden capacities. You certainly have many talents that you have never used, because they belong to the primitive side of your conscience, since they never had the chance to be transformed and belong to the organized, and human side of your conscience.

The transformation of your personality will be your salvation from depression, anxiety, hypertension and all existent mental illnesses, since you’ll learn how to face reality with courage, and how to always find the solutions you need.

Dream treatment according to the scientific method is the best treatment you could have, and entirely free of charge, since your doctor is the unconscious mind. You only have to learn the dream language (which I simplified very much translating dreams for 19 years) in order to enjoy all the benefits you can have with this superior knowledge.

The Psychology Behind the Fear of Commitment

Fear of commitment refers to the fear of forming long-lasting relationships. The term commitment phobia was first coined in 1987 by Steven Carter in his book, Men Who Can’t Love. Commitment phobia is common in men, but recently, studies show that both men and women have an equal tendency to experience commitment phobia. Commitment phobia is usually manifested across many domains of life. It is not only limited to relationships, but can also include fear of commitment with work, families and friends. It is an incapacitating phenomenon that affects a person’s entire life.

Men and women have different reasons why they fear commitment. Some men do not like the idea that they have to ask permission whenever they hang out with their buddies. They want to keep their personal space, and so they fear being committed to someone. Some men do not believe having only one sex partner is natural, thus they question themselves if they are able to form lasting relationships with one person, even if they are extremely in-love with someone. Other men have been continuously deceived by women, and so they avoid lasting relationships that will end in the same manner. They are afraid that their financial resources will be consumed by someone who might be using them just for their money. Men who were cheated on by their wives and later divorced fear forming another lasting relationship. Many of them choose not to marry again.

Women, on the other hand, fear commitment because they have been hurt numerous times by people who they seriously loved. They have been cheated on and deceived by someone who they gave their full trust to. Because of this, they generalize all men as deceitful, not able to keep their word, and not serious with relationships. That all they ever want is to “use you and throw you”. Some women were deceived by their husbands and divorced them. These women are often afraid of investing their emotions in someone new, and experience the same painful breakup. Still, some women fear commitment because they see their “fathers” as a poor role model. Being able to witness how their fathers hurt their mothers physically and psychologically, they are afraid of being married and committed to someone who might do the same to them.

People with commitment phobia are experiencing fear within them. They fear being hurt by their partners. They tend to become very defensive and try to cover themselves in a shell in order to avoid getting hurt. Commitment phobic people take the word “commitment” very seriously, which is why it is very hard for them to commit. Also, they see decisions as permanent, and so, they try their best not to make a decision that they can’t actually comply with in the long run.

Depression and Anxiety – What Can Be Done About It?

Many of us have experienced those times in our lives when we’ve felt depressed or anxious. For some these feelings are a daily part of life. For others these feelings may be more common during the holiday season or on special occasions. Life’s many circumstances can lead to long periods of depression. There are many factors related to this state of anxiety and depression. Here are just a few.

Fear

It can be difficult even getting out of bed in the morning when fear has a stronghold on you. For instance if you are deep in debt your stability becomes threatened as you are faced with the reality that you may lose the things you value. Or if you’re a student in grade school you may dread facing a test or that person who goes out of their way to bully you everyday. Fear is not something that is easily conquered. It’s more than just an act of putting mind over matter. It’s a real problem that should be acknowledged and addressed. Sometimes we don’t address our fears because we refuse to admit to ourselves there is a problem and we definitely wouldn’t want anyone else to know. Fear, when left unattended has a tendency to grow and intensity without our awareness. The recommended course of action is to seek help whether it be spiritual or professional.

Mistrust

We have all been hurt on occasion due to expectations that were not met on the part of another individual. The pain of mistrust can lead to long periods of alienation. Although we know these things happen in life it doesn’t serve to ease the pain. We need time to process and assess the damage done to our psychological and emotional state as well as try and figure out what and where we went wrong. However, after we’ve done all this it is important to make every effort to move on no matter how difficult it may seem because the person who hurt you certainly has.

Isolation

We tend to shut ourselves off from the world when life becomes overwhelming. This is probably a natural time out response that can be both therapeutic and comforting. However I know some people who have been in time out much too long. When a person chooses to isolate themselves it may be seen as an act of self preservation when in reality it only helps them to hide and prolong the inevitable. One day the very thing you hide from will have to be faced. We were made to be in relationships and to love and support each other. Imagine what would happen if we all embraced this concept.

Sorrow

There is no sorrow deeper than the sorrow of losing a loved one. I believe what makes this such a difficult thing to cope with is the reality of separation. We simply were not made for it and somehow through God’s grace, and support of family and friends we continue our lives one day at a time.

Rejection

There’s probably nothing worse than feeling like an outsider. When people refuse to accept you it can definitely have an affect on you self-esteem. Even though it hurts we have to remember we have probably done the same thing to someone else at some point and time. Sometimes we have to examine our motives for desiring the company of certain groups or individuals. It could be that we feel our association with them just may elevate our status. Who knows it just may. However, the goal is to surround ourselves with positive people to help built confidence not tear it down. After all I’d rather walk in my own light than live in someone else’s.

Loneliness

Life goes through many stages. Knowing when to move on can definitely be a factor in preventing loneliness. My kids moved away to college. What do you do with your life when your life was all about them for twenty years. Move on. You work at a job for 35 years. It’s all you know. You refuse to retire because you can’t imagine what you will do without the job and the relationships you’ve built over the years. What do you do? Move on. Your husband wakes up one morning and tells you he no longer wants to be married. He’s met someone else – online. You’ve been married for years. You have children. You thought – this is it – I’m secure. What do you do? Move on. I’m not making light of any of these situations as they are all very serious. I’m simply saying if you stay where you were left you forfeit your chance of any real happiness.

Bitterness and Hostility

These two just make a person down right ugly. They’re very hard to miss. When a person is bitter you know it. They’re not just bitter some of the time – they’re bitter all the time; I mean 24/7. If you happen to be this way please understand that this condition does to the soul and spirit what termites do to wood. These two will eat away at you to the point where you can’t even stand yourself. So,whatever is making you bitter address it. And if you don’t know you’re bitter just observe the affect you have on others.

Unforgiveness

We live in a world of selfishness and unfairness. We all have things we find hard even impossible to forgive people for. What I discovered over the years is unforgiveness has failed to accomplish the goal I expected it would. That goal was to make the offender feel guilty, ashamed, and apologetic. It just didn’t happen. All it did was keep my mind at the scene of the crime. Ultimately, time moved on without me and I became more and more a faded memory in the mind of the offender.

Shame and embarrassment

There are things in life we do to ourselves and to others that can cause use to feel ashamed and embarrassed so much so that we can hardly bear the weight of it. Each time we see someone or something that reminds us of what we’ve done we relive the experience all over again. I’ve found that it just doesn’t do any good to beat yourself up. It’s best to find the courage to ask forgiveness and set things straight.

Abuse and Violence

We can all understand and except that there is violence and abuse in the world, but when it’s in our very home it is a living hell. You feel unloved, unsafe, insecure and often blame yourself for what is happening. People who grow up this way can end up carrying this experience through life. No one has the right to make another persons life miserable yet it happens everyday. If this is you you need not feel ashamed. You did nothing wrong. None of it is your fault. Get together with people you trust who can really help. Your life is valuable – reclaim your worth.

Pride

None of the above mentioned has the power to cloud judgment and cause us to do things that are contrary to what we know is right. It’s that little person on the inside that makes it difficult for us to apologize. It’s that person that tells us to put ourselves first. When pride gets in the way it’s really in the way. It steps aside for no one. It grows and just doesn’t stop until we put it under subjection. Pride has ruined many relationships and continues to do so. There’s no room for this kind of pride in your life. It’s not easy to show humility but it most certainly is worth it.

All of the above situations will deplete your life and inhibit you from living comfortably with yourself. Life is too short to allow anyone or anything rob you of it’s pleasures. These are all very subtle in their infancy but can lead to very serious conditions.

Allergies, Insomnia, and Constipation Are the Leading Symptoms of the Exhausted Nervous System

When these electricity bundles or pathways become jangled, clogged, under stimulated or blocked in anyway, the body loses its dynamic and ever changing balance – this balance effects and includes everything especially the nervous system, digestion, and circulatory system muscles and joints. Body pollution accumulates. Allergies are one of the many health imbalances that occur.

Integrative medicine employs electricity rebalancing as one of its most effective treatments to eliminate allergies. this treatment has many benefits, including being able to desensitize common and rare allergies

Getting to know your body is an aha! experience a big wow. Worry, anxiety, insomnia and constipation lead the symptoms that are caused by an electric system that doesn’t work.

The nature of the energy in the body itself as a constant force, in continual state of movement and flux. You are like a human battery. Everything is electric. Everything has a charge. Your body is a field of energy that radiates out twelve feet according to science.

This electricity is organized in highly complex and specific pathways. In orthodox or allopathic medicine these are called tracts, in Chinese medicine, meridans, and in Ayurveda, chakras or marma points. When these electricity bundles or pathways become jangled, clogged, under stimulated or blocked in anyway, the body lose its dynamic and ever changing balance . This balance effects and includes everything especially the nervous system, digestion, and circulatory system muscles and joints.

Integrative medicine employs electricity rebalancing as one of its most effective treatments to eliminate allergies.

This treatment has many benefits, including being able to desensitize common and rare allergies.

Other benefits include relaxation of the nervous system, increased circulation and gentle detoxification, and increased efficiency of the electric and subtle energy systems. Again, when the allergic code is broken in the electric body, you become allergy free.

Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese medicine believe that these meridians or microscopic pathways transport energy throughout the body and are its source of vitality.

This energy is called chi or Qi (pronounced chee), and is literally translated as air or life force. There are two main types of Qi: the life force you are born with and the Qi you get from sleep, food and fresh air.

Allergens can disturb and trigger reactions from the meridian system millions of times a day. When the reaction is big enough to jam the electricity in the meridian channels and cause chemical disturbances in the body, we call it an allergy. The meridian energy system is used to treat the problem, to bring the body back to normal as quickly as possible with least amount of invasion. Meridian treatments are given using acupressure -no needles! this is a big reason why these treatments are so effective on children.

Chinese medicine is based on Qi, yin/yang, and a belief in the five basic elements: fire, water, ether, earth and air. These are the five basic elements all humans, animate and inanimate beings.

In the British Medical Journal in 1937, Sir Thomas Lewis reported that he had found physical evidence of “unknown nervous system”. This system, he said, was composed of minute lines. this energy lines branched from the surface of the skin connecting bowels and organs. What Lewis found for the West was the meridian system, known by eastern health practitioners for thousands of years.

When Qi is disturbed in the brain channels worry , anxiety, constipation and insomnia occur. This disturbances sets the stage for allergies.

Ayurveda (ah your-Vay-dah) also known as the science of life is a comprehensive medical system that is believed to be over six thousand years old. It focuses on the subtle energies in all things, but also in thoughts, emotions, and actions. Each persons’ state of health is based in the relationship of the three vital energy systems called Doshas (DOH-shahs)which are the nervous system, digestive systems and the tissue of the body. Ayurveda does not present the idea that disease is caused by microorganism, germs and / or pollen. diseases state is caused when there is weakness or disturbance to one or more of the dosha energy systems, which locks the body into dis-ease.

Causes, Symptoms and Care of an Ingrown Fingernail

An ingrown fingernail is a condition where the nail grows into the peripheral nail bed. The peripheral soft tissues or the paronychium gets inflamed and becomes painful due to the inward growth of the nail and leads to pain. The inflammation further leads to hyper granulation of the tissues and this makes the nail bury into the swollen nail bed. The inflammation can occur on a single side or can even be on both the sides of a finger.

It is very easy to identify an ingrown fingernail, the later sides of the skin folding over the nail gives the finger a rounded look. Besides, the nail and the surrounding bed are extremely painful to touch too. Even a slightest touch of a bed sheet can be painful to the person. Some of the common symptoms of ingrown fingernail are swelling with pain, redness and inflammation. The finger can become so tender to touch that many times the person is forced to keep the finger away from every activity. The pain and inflammation is later followed by formation of pus or abscess between the nail and the nail bed.

There are ways to prevent the nail from growing inward. Though an ingrown fingernail has a genetic predisposition factor attached to it, there are many other common causative factors attributing to the same. It has been noticed that siblings belonging to the same family can have a strong disposition to have an ingrown fingernail. Besides this, habits like nail biting, improper nail care and shapely curved cutting of the nails are some of the most common causes. It is always better to cut the nail straight and not curved. By cutting the nails curved, the ends are directed into the nail bed leading to the further growth into the lateral sides of the skin.

There are many easy home care treatments that can help ease the pain and inflammation of the affected finger. Soaking the affected finger in warm water is one of the most effective means. Adding Epsom salt or baking soda helps relieve the swelling and the pain as well. When the nail becomes soft after soaking, you can slowly and cautiously cut away the extended extra length that is piercing the skin. Applying antiseptic creams will help prevent the nail from getting infected. If the nail is very painful taking a pain killer or NSAIDs, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, will be helpful. It is always advisable to consult the concerned physician for a treatment with an antibiotic drug to arrest any infection. In severe cases of ingrown fingernail complete or partial nail removal is advised.

Nail Fungus Treatment Side Effects – Are There Any Side Effects of Nail Fungus Treatments?

Nail fungus infection is caused due to the fungal activity of the group known as Dermatophytes. This infection is also known to be caused by molds and yeasts. Since fungi are small microorganisms that flourish in the presence of warm and dark areas, they find a perfect place in nails for growth and development. Usually the infection occurs when the nail bed is damaged because of some bruise, cut or injury allowing the fungi to reside in it. As long as the infection is mild and taken care off in time, it does not pose any kind of serious threat to the patient. However, depending upon your existing health, the scenario may vary. For instance, the patients of diabetes, HIV AIDS, people who recently had a surgery or organ transplant and those with low immune systems can face adverse effects of this ailment. The same is true for the elderly people who are more prone to the fungal infection. Depending upon the seriousness of the infection, it can lead to occasional bleeding, pus and pain. Fungi are usually abundant in moist bathroom corners, swimming pools, kitchen washing basin and bathtubs.

When the nails are attacked by fungus, they show common symptoms. The most prominent of these are the discolouration of nails, deformed nail shape, brittle and hard nails, segregation of nails form the base and in extreme cases, pus, bleeding and bad smell. Since the ailment is contagious, it can not only spread to other fingernails or toenails but can transfer to other individuals in your household by sharing of towels, nail clippers, nail polishes etc. No matter how severe the infection is, good thing about nail fungus is that it can be cured. Many people usually use the chemical drugs or home remedies to get rid of the infectious diseases. Herbal products are also used to cure the infection and eradicate it from its base. No matter what kind of treatment you undergo to get rid of the infection, make sure that you consult your physician and get your infection diagnosed. Your physician can help you in treating the infection in a very short time.

The prescribed medicines used for treating this infection are known to have a number of side effects that include kidney problems, vomiting, nausea, rash, dizziness, heart and liver problems and even death. However, the serious side effects are seen on very rare occasions.

All other forms of treatments are known to be safe for use, and do not pose any health risks. However, those treatments may consume a longer time to show effect as compared to the prescribed medicines.

Ankle Sprains – A Physical Therapists Perspective

Introduction Sprained ankles are one of the leading causes of athletes to miss games during the season. Many times they are taped up & rushed back to the field without proper rehabilitation. More often than not, the ankle gets re-injured or worse, they end up with a knee, hip or low back injury. These injuries can be prevented by providing the proper healing time and rehabilitation. The same premise holds true for non-athletes. I have worked with a number of patients that have had multiple ankle sprains that were never given the opportunity to fully rehabilitate. The most common complaint is that their ankle turns over at any time without warning. All it takes is a slight bend in the pavement and the ankle turns. This type of injury is frustrating and can become debilitating. This article discusses the different types of ankle sprains, what to do following a sprain, and what does rehabilitation of the ankle involve?

Brief Anatomy The ankle is made up of three primary bones. The tibia & fibula, which are the longs bones of the lower leg and the talus which is a major bone of the foot. Together they make up the talocrural joint. The mobility of these bones allows the foot to flex and extend which is required for propulsion during walking. The other major joint of the ankle is formed by the lower portion of the talus and the upper portion of the calcaneus (heel bone). These two bones form what is called the subtalar joint, which allows for movement in and out (inversion/eversion). This inversion motion is the most common mechanism of injury. The ligaments are tissues that connect bone to bone. Their function is to provide stability to the joint. There are three main ligaments on the outside of the ankle called the lateral collateral ligaments. Their function is to prevent the ankle from inverting too far. The inside of the ankle is protected by the deltoid ligament, which functions to prevent excessive eversion or turning out.

Mechanism of injury – The most typical ankle sprain is an inversion sprain. This occurs when the ankle turns inward and the bodies weight compresses the ankle brining the lateral malleolus close to the floor. This excessive movement places the lateral ligaments on strain, stretches the tendons crossing the joint and can also lead to some of the tarsal bones compressing on one another. The greater the inversion force results in a more severe ankle sprain or fracture. For the purposes of this article, I will only be covering ankle sprains, not fractures.

What is the difference between a sprain and a strain? This is a common question. A sprain results from a stress placed upon a ligament. Remember a ligament connects one bone to another bone. A sprain is a partial or full tear in the ligament or at the junction of where the ligament attaches to the bone. A strain results from an excessive force or overload on a muscle leading to micro-tears in the muscle belly or tendon. A tendon is a tissue similar in strength to a ligament that connects a muscle to the bone. Both ligaments and tendons are non-contractile tissue. Only muscle has the ability to contract (shorten).

Grading an ankle sprain There are three different grades of an ankle sprain based on the severity of the injury.

Grade I (1st degree)– This is the most common type of sprain. The ligaments are overstretched but no visible tear has occurred. Microscopic tears have occurred that will heal if treated properly. Minimal swelling should occur and only minor ankle instability will be present.

Grade II (2nd degree)– This is a more severe injury and the ligament has sustained a partial tear. The ankle will typically be more swollen and ecchymosis (bruising) will usually occur. The ankle will be more unstable and painful compared to a grade I.

Grade III (3rd degree)– This is the most severe injury as the ligament has been completely torn. This is the most painful ankle sprain and will typically present as very hot and swollen with a lot of ecchymosis sometimes tracking halfway up the lower leg.

Immediate care following ankle sprain – Following a turned ankle, it is difficult to determine the severity based on a number of factors. Swelling may occur immediately making the injury seem worse than it actually is. If the ankle does not swell, this does not necessarily minimize the possibility of torn ligaments. Tenderness will usually be present on the outside of the ankle with an inversion sprain. It also may be difficult to stand on the injured foot. The safest advice would be to keep the shoe/sneaker tied tight to prevent the ankle from swelling. Keep the weight off the foot as much as possible. When the shoe is taken off, the leg should be elevated above the heart and an ice pack should be compressed against the ankle. This will help decrease both the pain and swelling. This technique is called R.I.C.E standing for Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. R.I.C.E is a good pneumonic for any injury to the extremities.

Should I go to the hospital? If you are having difficulty putting weight on the foot, if the swelling is severe, and the pain has not reduced after a few hours of using the R.I.C.E technique, a visit to the hospital is recommended. Prepare to wait in the emergency room for a while. Ankle sprains are not usually treated as a priority. The doctor will examine the ankle looking for joint and ligament instabilities. He/She may also order an X-ray to check for fractures. On occasion, an MRI will be ordered to assess ligament damage.

Physical Therapy/Rehabilitation It is common following an ankle sprain to be placed on crutches. More severe sprains are placed in a boot or air cast to help with ankle stability. There are four major categories of impairments that occur following an ankle sprain. These include 1. Ankle joint instability due to weakened ligamentous structures 2. Muscle weakness 3. Poor balance (proprioception) 4. Pain and swelling. Each of these impairments must be addressed for a successful rehabilitation. Physical therapists will utilize various massage techniques and modalities to reduce inflammation. Manual therapy techniques will be used to restore normal joint mechanics and to retrain the proper muscle firing patterns necessary for stability. An effort is required to normalize your walking (gait) as quickly as possible to prevent compensations. Finally, a specific strengthening program that incorporates the entire lower extremity and core muscles is provided to improve overall strength, balance and coordination. Each ankle sprain is different from the next & everybody heals at a different rate. Typically, rehabilitation following an ankle sprain can be as short as two weeks (4 visits) up to eight weeks (20 visits). This does not take into account any other co-morbidities.

Conclusion Ankle sprains if managed properly through physical therapy and a conscious effort to comply with a home exercise program are usually rehabilitated very successfully with low chance of re-injury. However, if an ankle sprain is not fully rehabilitated, the chances of re-injury with more severe damage increase greatly.

Bruised, Battered And Inflamed? This Will Help!

Bruises and bumps are an all-too-common occurrence in life. They usually are the result of blood from damaged blood vessels deep beneath your skin collecting near the surface, which results in a black and blue discoloration.

A bruise is cosmetic, so perhaps (?!) less of a concern. But under the bruise the cells are damaged and can become fibrotic, leading to hardness and pressure on the body. This is a source of FASCIAL RESTRICTION and can have far reaching “drag” like effects on the fascia (connective tissue) of the body. See our other article on how to release tight fascia. Homeopathic remedies like Arnica Montana will reduce inflammation and speed healing. Combination remedies that include arnica like Topricin and Traumeel we have found to help better. Celadrin which contains CMO (Cetyle Myristoleate) is also standing up well in studies on arthritis.

The key, like most areas of health, is proactive prevention. The reason why most people bruise is that their capillaries are too fragile and essentially are easily torn. One of the best ways to ensure that your blood vessels remain strong and flexible is to make sure you have an excellent source of bio-available nutrients.

Typically, a well-rounded diet with nutritional-type-appropriate organic vegetables and fruits may be sufficient to provide all the micronutrients you will need to prevent bruising from all but the most severe traumas. However, these days with soil depletion, even if we shop and eat diligently we may not reach optimum nutrition. Supplementation is key in today’s world. We recommend a product called Intramax which is available through healthcare professionals (and NO is not a MLM!) – this is an excellent liquid, highly bio-available organic food which replaces most other supplements.

If you already have a bruise, nature is full of simple, natural solutions for your health. Among them are the above listed topical remedies that can help speed the healing process of your bruises so they go away faster, as well as plants like cabbage, banana, onion and aloe. BUT remember the key is to avoid bruises in the first place by being careful, supplementing and having loads of appropriate vegetables and fruits in your diet.

I do not recommend taking acetaminophen for pain associated with common bruising, as it’s been shown to cause liver damage with excessive or extended use. Ibuprofen and aspirin are no better, and taken together they can be a downright deadly combo.

There’s really no reason to succumb to taking these dangerous drugs for minor, everyday problems, as the risks far outweigh the benefits.

Obtaining good bodywork for treating and preventing “issues in the tissues” is a very prudent preventative healthcare approach to help you live beyond 100!

Ball of Foot Pain – Causes and Treatments

Ball of foot pain is classically know as metatarsalgia (MET – tuh   tar – SAL – juh). The term metatarsalgia is used as a catch-all term used to describe a number of medical conditions which cause pain under the ball of the foot. The long bones in the foot are called metatarsals and the end where the metatarsals meet the toes are called the metatarsal phalangeal joints. Combining the name of the bones, “metatarsal” with the suffix “algia” means pain appropriately describes this condition. The heads of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th metatarsals make up what most consider the ball of the foot. These joints are the most commonly affected due to excess pressure, overuse and/or microtrauma, which results in inflammation and pain.

The most common symptom is deep, achy pain under the ball of the foot which can become sharp or stabbing with standing or walking. There may be shooting pain or tingling in the toes, which would indicate an inflamed nerve. A feeling of walking on a lump or cord or a “bunched up sock” under the foot is common. The pain is usually worsened with walking and long periods of standing, especially when pushing off of the ball of the foot. Narrow shoes can increase the pain and rubbing or massaging the forefoot may alleviate the pain.

A few of the common causes of ball of foot pain include faulty foot mechanics, structural deformities such as a hammertoe or dropped metatarsal, ill fitting shoes and being overweight. Many times it’s a combination of the above contributors which results in metatarsalgia. Faulty foot mechanics are an inherited trait resulting in abnormal motion of the foot. In forefoot conditions, tight calf muscles and overpronation (over-rotation and foot collapse) cause excess pressure on the forefoot. Tight calf muscles cause the heel to lift early when walking and this redistributes the weight toward the front of the foot. Over-rotation of the foot and arch collapse, in combination with hypermobility of the 1st ray (arch and great toe) causes the weight to shift from the great toe to the smaller toe joints when walking. An substantial and abnormal force is placed on a small area of the foot during “push off” and this results in repetitive strain, irritation, inflammation and pain of the small joints (2nd, 3rd and 4th metatarsal phalangeal joints) in the foot. Specific conditions, such as a neuroma or second metatarsal overload syndrome may develop.

âEUR¨Runners have a high risk of developing metatarsalgia because of the repetitive forefoot impact, but any sport which involves push off at the forefoot can be a potential problem. When an athlete changes their training regimen by adding hills or sprints, excess pressure can cause pain and inflammation at the joints in the forefoot. Poor quality shoes, lacking support and shock absorption can contribute to the development.

Structural deformities such as hammertoes can cause pain under the ball of the foot. The hammertoe is a crooked toe which causes retrograde force on the metatarsal head. As the toe cocks up, the head of the metatarsal is pushed down. The metatarsal head is now prominent on the bottom of the forefoot and more susceptible to increased pressure. Many people will complain of the feeling of a lump or nodule under their foot or complain about walking on a bone under the ball of the foot.

Poor quality or ill-fitting shoes are one of the more common reasons for the development of ball of foot pain. Narrow, tight shoes compress the forefoot and force the metatarsal heads together. This position impairs normal function of the foot when walking and increases rub and irritation in the forefoot area.

Treatment involves identifying and addressing the cause of the problem. In many cases it is a combination of faulty foot mechanics, poor quality shoes and an change or increase in a training regimen or recent weight gain. Orthotics should be used to control abnormal foot motion and disperse pressure more evening. Shoe should be rigid along the sole, only bend in the toe area, have at least a 1/2 heel and have adequate support. Calf stretches or night splints can be used for those with tight calves to eliminate the heel lifting early during walking. There are a variety of metatarsal pads which can be used to distribute the pressure under the ball of the foot to help alleviate pain and accelerate healing.

Acid Alkaline Balance and Chronic Pancreatitis

What is the relationship between acid alkaline balance and pancreatitis? There is a direct link between these conditions. To say more, whole body acidity can cause pancreatitis.

Everything what we eat goes to the stomach and then semi-digested food moves into the duodenum; first part of the small intestine. Here, pancreatic enzymes digest most of the proteins and carbohydrates and 90% of the fats.

Pancreatic enzymes can digest foods only if pH in duodenum would be more than 7.0, thus alkaline. You can eat the healthiest foods in the world, but if you do not have alkaline environment inside the duodenum, pancreatic enzymes cannot perform their job and indigestion occurs.

Undigested food collects in the small intestine, ferments by bacteria and yeast causing gas, bloating, heartburn and cramps. Countless, toxic substances are produced during fermentation causing irritation, and internal toxicity. Our organism attempts to get rid of this waste, but has only two directions for it: up to the mouth, or down to the anus. If the toxic undigested food moves up it leads to nausea, vomiting, heartburn, upper abdominal pain, what is very similar to symptoms of the chronic pancreatitis. If this poisonous undigested mass moves down it leads to irritation, diarrhea, constipation, bowel inflammation, and lower abdominal pain, what is highly similar to symptoms of the irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in persons with chronic pancreatitis.

Acidic changes in body’s acid-alkaline balance also produce significant changes in biochemistry of the bile. It is known, bile is produced by the liver and bile helps to digest the fats. Also through the bile, liver removes fat-soluble toxins from the body such as heavy metals, cholesterol, alcohol, drugs, medications, etc.

If the bile is getting acidic organism cannot properly digest fats, so fatty foods cause discomfort, fullness, pain, and nausea. Furthermore, acidic bile becomes extremely aggressive, toxic fluid that irritates the gut’s walls, causes ulcers and wrong way traffic for bile; reflux.

Aggressive mixture of the acidic bile and acidic pancreatic juice mixed with toxic undigested food, due to jerky contractions of the gut’s walls is thrown up into the stomach and esophagus. It is accompanied with severe and persistent heartburn. This is a real picture what happens in the gastrointestinal tract if the body becomes acidic, and also pancreatic juice, and bile.

What goes on inside the pancreas in case of over acidity and how does it related to pancreatitis? A few problems are particularly important to know about pancreas. First problem, pancreas is alkaline gland; pancreatic juice is the most alkaline solution in the body with pH 8.3-8.5.

To make pancreatic juice to be alkaline, pancreas takes bicarbonate and some minerals from the blood. If the whole body acidity occurs, amount of the bicarbonate and alkaline minerals in the blood decreases so pancreas cannot take them and produce the normal, alkaline pancreatic juice. As a result, the pH of the pancreatic juice drops less than 7.0; it is getting acidic.

Second problem, pancreas is the unique organ in our body. There is no such organ in our body, as pancreas that can create self-destruction. Pancreas is only one organ that can destroy itself. Normally pancreas produces very strong, digestive, pancreatic enzymes in an inactive form. In case of acidity, digestive, pancreatic enzymes begin to activate inside the pancreas causing self-digestion; pancreatitis.

Self-digestion leads to inflammation of the pancreatic tissue; it destroys structure and kills the pancreatic cells. By analogy, it is remarkably similar to disaster in the atomic reactor when it starts meltdown and destroys itself. Disasters in the Fukushima in Japan and Chernobyl in Ukraine are the example of self-destruction. Acidity kills the pancreas in many ways, which I described in books and articles. Therefore, healing actions in case of chronic pancreatitis need to focus on acid-alkaline balance.

Many researches and medical articles assert that, in chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic juice is getting acidic; thus it makes acidic milieu in the duodenum. Acidity in duodenum means low digestion. What has to be done? Restoration of the normal acid-alkaline balance in the body is crucial to all persons with indigestion, specifically for people with chronic pancreatitis.

From school’s chemistry, it is known that to neutralize the acidity, it is needed alkaline minerals and bicarbonate. Our body cannot produce these substances; therefore, we need to get them naturally from alkaline foods, healing mineral water, cellular magnesium- potassium supplements.

European doctors have known this for hundreds of years. All over the Europe, there are many healthy mineral spas where people drink healing mineral water for several digestive disorders. The most researched is healing mineral water from the famous thermal spring in Karlovy Vary, in the Czech Republic. 500 years people use this unique gift from earth.

250 years ago, doctors in Karlovy Vary proposed to vaporize the water to make genuine Karlovy Vary thermal spring salt for using at home. European medical doctors proved that mineral water, prepared from genuine Karlovy Vary thermal spring salt, has healing properties that are similar to spring water. According to medical research, Karlovy Vary healing mineral water is hugely beneficial for people with chronic pancreatitis, digestive and liver disorders.

How to get an idea, is organism acidic or alkaline? If the body is over acidic, it tries to remove acidic substances through the body fluids such as saliva and urine. Measurement by litmus paper of the saliva and urine pH may open window inside the body acid-alkaline balance. If your saliva and urine pH are less than 6.6, your body probably is acidic. In my practice, I can see many positive changes in the people’s digestive health after normalizing acid-alkaline balance in the body

Alkaline natural diet is healthy, particularly for a person with chronic pancreatitis. I described this in details, in book. The worse enemy for inflamed pancreas is alcohol. Please, do not prove it on yourself. There are not good and safe doses of alcohol for people with chronic pancreatitis.

Seventy percent of pancreatitis relate to alcohol consumption because the alcohol is toxic, acidic substances that activate digestive enzymes inside the pancreas. Each upper abdominal pain, especially after drinking alcohol can be highly suspicious to mild attack of pancreatitis; therefore, it needs medical evaluation. After pancreatitis was diagnosed, keeping the right, slightly alkaline acid-alkaline balance is not luxury. It is vital.

Fibroids are not caused by one single factor, but rather by a combination of various issues which subtly interact within the body. Hemorrhagic Cyst – What Is A Hemorrhagic Cyst And Is Bleeding Bad?

The human body is a remarkably complex organ. In almost all instances, thousands of cells work perfectly in harmony to create tissues, organs and systems. When you think about how amazing that is, the mind boggles.

However, because of the sheer complexity of each system, there is a distinct potential for issues. When discussing a woman, her reproductive system is a delicate system that can be prone to problems. Ovarian cysts are a common type of issue that women experience. There are various types of cysts, each with different sources and varying causes and complications.

Understanding What Hemorrhagic Means

Whenever you see the term hemorrhagic, it is a good indication that there is bleeding involved. Hemorrhaging can be associated with numerous medical conditions and not just cysts.

A hemorrhagic cyst is usually associated with functional cysts- those that come from fairly normal conditions. When a woman’s body ovulates, cysts are formed as a normal part of the process.

However, they don’t always dissipate like they should; this situation creates a functional cyst. When a functional cyst bleeds, it is newly designated as a hemorrhagic cyst.

Isn’t Bleeding Bad?

It certainly isn’t ideal to have bleeding in your body. However, when talking to your doctor about a hemorrhagic cyst, it’s important to keep things firmly in perspective.

A hemorrhagic cyst is unlikely to cause serious complications. Most functional cysts, even those that are hemorrhagic in nature, will go away with no medical intervention. You may have some abdominal pain, which could be the only recognizable sign that the cyst is even present. If the cysts bursts, it could release the blood-laced fluid into the abdominal cavity, but even that shouldn’t be too serious or require surgery.

The Hormone Connection

Regardless of what type of ovarian cyst you are dealing with, there is likely some sort of hormonal component. Your female hormones direct the proper action of the reproductive system, giving the signal to develop an egg, release it and begin the cycle again.

When ovarian cysts develop, many people suspect that malfunctioning hormones are at least partially to blame. Hormones contribute to both functional and complex cysts and can be players in conditions like endometriosis, PCOS or even fibroid uterine cysts.

What Can I Do?

When you are diagnosed with your first functional or hemorrhagic cyst, your doctor will probably not do anything at all. He may monitor your condition to ensure that there are no further complications.

In addition, hormone-regulating drugs, such as birth control, may be prescribed. However, there are always drawbacks to taking a more medical approach, especially when you are talking about delicate organs like the reproductive system.

Because the doctor will be so hands-off, this is really the perfect opportunity for you to take a more holistic and natural approach. Hormones can be regulated via diet and exercise, surprisingly.

There are also herbs and homeopathic preparations that are specifically designed to increase reproductive health and function. Finally, if your doctor does recommend surgery, always explore all your options completely before committing, especially those holistic approaches that are less intrusive.
