Misdiagnosis of Bipolar Disorder

Although many illnesses are relatively easy to diagnose and treat, disorders that affect the brain are often complicated and difficult to identify. Illnesses like bipolar disorder often have symptoms that vary greatly or are very similar to other problems that plague the brain.

If a medical professional fails to correctly diagnose an illness or disorder, the patient may suffer serious consequences like further injury or even death. It is the responsibility of doctors and physicians to correctly identify and treat bipolar disorder before the patient suffers even more. If you have suffered injury due to misdiagnosis by your doctor, you may be eligible for financial compensation for your pain and suffering.

Bipolar disorder is especially hard to diagnose because many of the symptoms that are commonly associated with the illness are also commonly seen in other brain disorders and problems. Individuals who suffer from manic-depressive illness often report symptoms including:

o    Intense mood changes including “manic” episodes and “depressive” episodes

o    Severe depression

o    Agitation

o    Impulsiveness

o    High risk behavior

o    Restlessness

o    Irritability

o    Sleeplessness

o    Suicidal thoughts

One of the major obstacles for many medical professionals is the similarities between the disorder and other diseases of the brain.  Doctors commonly associate symptoms of the disorder with the following illnesses:

o    Depression

o    Schizophrenia

o    Substance abuse

o    Psychotic disorders

o    Thyroid disorder or hyperthyroidism

o    Antisocial personality disorder

Patients often have difficulty explaining their symptoms to physicians, often causing more confusion in the diagnosis. If you are suffering from an illness and have not received a diagnosis, make sure to explain your symptoms as carefully and thoroughly as possible to help your doctor avoid making a mistake with the diagnosis. It is important to remember that only you can truly explain what you are feeling to your doctor, and by correctly identifying what you are experiencing, you may be able to increase your chances of successful treatment.

Doctors and other medical personnel have taken an oath to help their patients to the best of their abilities. It is important for physicians to avoid mistakes at all costs, especially when it comes to diagnosis and treatment of disorders. If a brain disorder goes undiagnosed or is misdiagnosed by a doctor, the patient may end up suffering severe injury as a result.

What Is The Difference Between Psychotic Depression and Schizophrenia?

Psychotic depression and schizophrenia can be easily confused with each other, but they are not the same. By definition, psychotic depression is a major depressive disorder that presents with hallucinations and delusions, while schizophrenia is a mental illness whereby the individual has difficulty thinking logically, identifying between what’s real and what’s imagined, and to express feelings appropriately. It’s possible for psychotic depression to turn into schizophrenia just as it is possible for schizophrenia to cause psychotic depression.

Psychotic Depression vs Schizophrenia: Differentiating the Symptoms

Individuals with psychotic depression are usually agitated and anxious with some degree of intellectual impairment and physical immobility. They have sleeping problems, as well, excessive preoccupation with their health (hypochondriasis), hallucinations and delusions.

Schizophrenics, on the other hand, are hostile and suspicious. When you look at them you will find their gaze devoid of any expression. Social withdrawal is very likely, and along with it the reduced need or lack of desire to take care of one’s self. Personal hygiene suffers, and so do personal and social relationships. Individuals diagnosed with this mental disorder are irrational, forgetful, and defensive to criticisms. Insomnia and depression are problems often met by schizophrenics.

Later Signs and Symptoms of Schizophrenia

As schizophrenia progress, delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech and behavior become more apparent.

It’s typical of schizophrenics to be delusional. Most of them experience one or several of the following types of delusion:

· Delusions of persecution. Schizophrenics with delusions of persecution believe that someone is out there to persecute him/her.

· Delusions of grandeur. This is a strange believe that one is a VIP or who possesses super powers.

· Delusions of control. Schizophrenics believe that how they think or what they do are influenced by an outside force.

Also common to schizophrenics are hallucinations. Hallucinations are signs and sounds that are believed to be real but which actually exist nowhere else but in the mind of the patient.

Disorganized Speech and Behavior

Schizophrenics have difficulty focusing. They can shift from topic to topic, which when you put them all together, no longer makes any sense. If you ask them questions, they will answer, but inappropriately. They keep repeating words and phrases over and over again. Sometimes they create their own words that nobody else understands.

Psychotic Depression and Schizophrenia: Understanding the Causes

There are a number of factors that can lead to psychotic depression, among them:

· Genetics.

· Neurotransmitter problems

· Hormonal imbalances

· Inability to cope with stresses and tragedies.

· Personality problems.

With schizophrenia, the following factors are said to trigger its occurrence:

· Genetics. If someone in your immediate family has the disorder, there’s a 10% chance that you will have it, too. If both your parents have been diagnosed with the disorder, there’s a 40% chance of you developing it as well.

· Neurotransmitter problems of imbalances in the brain chemicals.

· Structural abnormalities in the brain.

· Complications experienced during pregnancy or birth.

· Substance abuse. Marijuana consumption can cause schizophrenia.

Treatment Options For Psychotic Depression and Schizophrenia

Psychotic Depression is managed with a combination of antidepressants and antipsychotic drugs (using only antidepressants is found to be not very effective in many patients), and electroconvulsive therapy for patients found to have significant retardation of the psychomotor. The use of drugs needs to be strictly monitored, though, while electroconvulsive therapy has to be done in a hospital facility by a trained specialist.

To treat schizophrenia, antipsychotic drugs will be prescribed, but with extreme caution considering the many side effects they come with. The patient will also be advised to undergo psychosocial treatments, learn disease management skills and coping skills to deal with everyday stresses. If substance abuse is what triggered the disorder, integrating treatment for substance abuse will be employed.

Natural Insomnia Remedy – How To Fall Asleep Fast

If a person is hungry, they usually eat. So if a person is tired, why do so many people refuse to go to sleep? In today’s rat race, fast-paced society it’s easy to get lost in all the indulgences life has to offer. TV is one example. With hundreds of shows and to choose from, on demand movies, sports etc… the option to stay awake is just too tempting. Too often, this frame of mind results in body negligence. After all, I can just ‘take something for that’ if I need to fall asleep.

Well, if you really want to conquer insomnia, it just doesn’t work that way. For true long-term success, you must learn to listen and obey what your body is telling you.

The best way to achieve this is to go to sleep when your body gives you signals, such as repetitive yawning or having drooping eyes. Ignoring these ‘go to sleep now’ signals only upsets the body’s natural rhythm, often resulting in getting a “second wind” some time later — a sensation where your body starts to feel fully awake again, making it next-to-impossible to fall asleep. Your body has a limited ‘window of opportunity’ to most effectively fall asleep. Miss it and you may be in for another long night of restlessness.

While some people stay up too late, others go to sleep too early, thinking this heightens their chances of getting more sleep. But when your body isn’t ready, you may end up tossing and turning for hours before actually attaining a sleep state. The best solution is to get into a daily routine, being disciplined enough to go to sleep at the same time each night. Don’t force sleep too early. Just tune in and listen to what your body is telling you.

Before making your way to the bedroom, minimize your chances of having your sleep disrupted. One good way is to relieve yourself in the bathroom immediately before bed, especially if you’ve drank lots of liquids, have an overactive bladder, or if you have prostate or other health problems. By doing so, you can help prevent waking in the middle of the night and possibly being unable to fall back asleep again. If nighttime bathroom breaks are a chronic problem, try to limit fluid intake a few hours before bedtime.

Now that your body is telling you to fall asleep, try to create an ambient, relaxing atmosphere. As you get ready for bed, you can improve your chances for quality sleep by putting on some soothing music or lighting some incense (candles can be used if you remember to blow them out before sleep). You may also try aromatherapy or use low-watt color lighting, or changing your bed sheets, pillows and pillow covers. As you’re falling asleep the use of a sleep sound generator or white noise machine may also be beneficial.

These are just some things that might help you fall asleep easier. Use your imagination.

While the average person can fall asleep without too many restrictions, it is not so easy for the insomniac. The slightest stimuli can have an insomnia sufferer tossing and turning in bed all night. By minimizing evening distractions, creating a relaxing late night atmosphere, and falling asleep when your body ‘tells you,’ tonight just could be the best sleep you’ve had in a while.

Toenail Fungus Symptoms – A Shocking Look

Toenail fungus in most cases can be incredibly unpleasant. It is a stressful disease in that it causes pain and it looks very ugly. Fungus growing on any part of the body looks ugly. If you walk past the chemist sometimes, you will sometimes notice huge pictures of toenails with fungus on them. Theses pictures advertise cures to the problem in the form of creams or ointments.

The symptoms of this disease that commonly occurs are quite simple really. There would be discolouration in the toenail and the nail will look different from its usual colour. In most cases the foot will have a very bad odour coming from it. The nail will lack shine and lustre and be disfigured in most instances. Nails that are thicker than normal are also a sign that the nail is unhealthy.

In a lot of cases of toenail fungus, the toenail will look totally out of whack and you can tell straight away that there is something wrong. A lot of people don’t follow simple hygiene practises such as changing socks and washing their feet. Shoes and socks should not be worn for very long periods of time. If shoes are worn, they should allow the feet to breathe and air should be able to pass through the shoe easily. Feet shouldn’t smell horrible and should be kept clean at all times.

Fungus loves to thrive in areas that are damp and moist. Having our feet in socks and shoes makes an environment perfect for fungal growth. Smelly feet are an early sign that your feet have not been given the care that they need.

Why people neglect their feet is unknown. Most of the time it is because they just don’t care and they don’t look down there and notice. It is not until the affected person experiences pain in the infected toe that he or she realises that they have toenail fungus. Toe nail fungus is curable but the best cure is prevention. Preventing the fungus from even appearing beats any kind of cure.

In some cases, people that have this disease don’t tell anyone about it. They are scared that they will be laughed at and don’t want anyone to know. They don’t seek help and the situation gets worse. The fungus spreads and the toe nail looks completely disfigured.

The method of prevention is very simple. Keeping the feet clean and smell free is the easiest prevention mechanism. A lot of people love to go online searching for instant cures to this problem. The reason for this online behaviour is that it is private and the infected people feel safe and secure. They won’t be ridiculed by others and they can cure it easily.

In conclusion, toenail fungus symptoms are easy to spot. Cure it today with powerful remedies that work.

Black Fingernail Fungus Is Rare

Although fingernail fungus infections are fairly common, black fungus is rare. Black fungus infection is particularly bothersome, because (as the name implies) it manifests itself in a very unattractive way.

Black fungus, like all nail fungus infections, thrives in the warm moist environment that exists under the nail. As the fungus multiplies under the fingernail it takes a substantial toll on the nail bed.

A nail fungus in its early stages often causes some yellowish discoloration of the fingernail. If the infection is left untreated the fungus grows and produces spores which lead to dark brown or black discoloration on the nail.

Black fungus occurs at an advanced stage of a nail infection. In addition to the discoloration the sufferer may notice that the nail is thicker, deformed or flaky. In severe cases there may be peeling of the skin that is near the finger nail and possible severe pain at the fingertip. If black fungus is left untreated it can cause permanent damage to the nail, leaving it ragged and distorted. The fungus can spread to the skin and cause a surface infection of the skin around the nails. This infection is called paronychia and it can result in painful lesions, redness, swelling and pus-filled blisters on the fingers and hands. Medical treatment is often required when a nail infection reaches this advanced stage.

Black fungus is commonly seen in people who frequently work in the garden. Wearing gloves while gardening and washing your hands thoroughly after working in the garden will help prevent an infection from occurring. If you receive a cut or nick on your finger while gardening, be sure to immediately apply first aid so that the fungus will not gain entry through the cut. The failure to apply first aid immediately can give the fungus a chance to grow and thrive.

People can get black fungus infection from other person through contact. Public places like swimming pools and public bath stalls can are places where the infection can survive and thrive. Pedicure and manicure centers can also spread the black fungus infection if they use improperly sterilized equipment. If you have professional manicures performed on your feet you should bring your own pedicure tools so that you will know they are sterile in order to protect yourself from black nail fungus.

Effective Ways To Avoid Ankle Sprains

A sprain is a torn or stretched ligament. Ligaments connect the bones at a joint and help to keep the bones from altering out of actual place.

Most common injury is ankle sprain. This may happen suddenly when you twist the ankle too far, when you fall, or when you force the bone joint from out of its position. Most of the ankle sprains will happen during the sports activities or running or when walking on an uneven field. Usually such sprains result from the poor proprioception, ligament laxity, inadequate rehabilitation from previous injury, and muscle weakness.

This is a very common injury in teens who are athletes and also in non-athletes. It happens when ankle support ligament get overly torn or stretched. Ankle sprain can happen when you slip walking, put down the weight on your feet awkwardly, or when you step in the hole.

Most of the sprained ankles are very minor injuries, which can be healed with proper treatment, but others can be very serious.

Good balance, strength and flexibility can be helpful in preventing the ankle sprains from occurring. If you lack of these characteristics, doctor may suggest you to wear an ankle or tape the ankle when you are performing exercise.

The best way to prevent ankle sprains is keeping the ankle flexible and leg muscles as strong. Your doctor, PE teacher, or coach can give some home exercises in order to build the strength of muscles and flexibility of the joint.

Here are some tips to avoid ankle sprains:

• Always do warm up exercises and then use the advised stretching techniques for the ankle before exercising, playing sports, or doing any kind of physical activity.

• Using ankle braces, high topped shoes, or tape may be helpful for the patients who are prone to the ankle sprains.

• Observe your step while running or walking on cracked or uneven surfaces.

• Do not overdo the things. If you are fatigued or tiered, this can make an ankle sprain more likely. Stop, or slow down what you are doing, or try to take additional care to observe your step whenever you are tired.

• In the past if you’ve had ankle sprain, make sure that completely it is healed prior you are trying any physical activity.

• Purchase good shoes, which can fit to your feet properly, and maintain them securely fastened or tied when you are going to wear them. One of the biggest causes of sprained ankles in women is wearing the high heeled shoes. So try to reduce the heel of the shoe.

• Include prehab exercises into your daily regimen. They would help in strengthening the stabilizing muscles and also improve the coordination, so that your muscles would have quick activation that is required to protect the ankle.

Treatment For Hematoma

Hematoma is the medical term for collection of blood under the skin, and in the muscle or inside an organ. Usually, the blood tends to collect when blood vessels rupture. A hematoma can occur in any part of the body, and therefore, there are many kinds of hematomas. The most serious kind is the one that develops inside the brain. Even within the brain, the hematomas can occur in any part of the brain, and based on the location of the hematoma, it is named.

Generally, a hematoma occurs when a person sustains a traumatic injury on the soft tissue of the body. It has been seen that people who have weak blood vessels are more prone to developing hematomas. The skin often gets discolored and may appear bluish or black in color. The site of the hematoma will be painful and inflamed. When a hematoma occurs in the brain, it may or may not causes symptoms. However, after a few days of sustaining the injury, the person may complain of headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, dilation of pupils, and drowsiness.

The treatment for hematoma is dependent on the type of hematoma, its size and its location. If the hematoma is superficial, then it may not require any treatment as it generally heals on its own in a few days time. To alleviate the pain, ice packs can be applied to injury site many times a day. This will also facilitate the healing process. In case the hematoma occurs in the leg, then ice pack will help, but the person should restrict the movement of the affected leg. Putting a compression bandage on the injury site will facilitate in the blood being resorbed by the body. In case the hematoma is large, then a surgical procedure would have to be conducted to drain out the blood. This is also true for hematomas that develop after an invasive surgery.

If the hematoma is present within the soft tissue of the brain, it is treated as a medical emergency. If the size of the hematoma is small, then the patient will be carefully monitored as the hematoma is often resorbed by the body without any medical treatment. However, if the hematoma does not disappear on its own in a few days time, then a small surgical procedure is necessary. The neurosurgeon will drill a small opening in the skull and suck out the accumulated blood through the hole. However, if the hematoma is located in the dura, then craniotomy is required where the skull is surgically opened to remove the accumulated blood.

CTO – Cervical Thoracic Orthosis – What It Is – Where To Find a Brace Company Near You

Cervical Thoracic Orthosis (CTO)

1.) Purpose of a CTO

The purpose of a CTO is to help support the cervical portion of an individual’s spine. When we refer to the cervical spine, we are talking about C1-C7. * (It is important to note that the word “orthosis” refers to an “external support” or “brace” throughout this article.) A CTO helps to limit motion of the cervical spine and an individuals skull by limiting rotational movements. It will also help to support and inhibit both cervical and capital flexion and extension. Your doctor should always be the person to tell you how long to wear your CTO and for what activity levels. In general, you will find that a CTO will be worn until a cervical spinal fusion is accomplished, or your injury type has healed. From this kind of brace, you may find that it is time to wean into a cervical collar.

2.) Off The Shelf vs. Custom CTOs

Many off the shelf designs exist currently and the bonus to using one of these types of off the shelf braces is that you typically do not have to wait for the orthosis to be fabricated. This means that you (or your patients) can) can get it very quickly. Having said this, it is also important to note that it is hard to beat the support and fit of a custom made CTO. Typically, casts and measurements are used to optimize the fit and function of a CTO, or any other custom made brace. Custom CTOs can really accommodate for a patient’s back curvature or neck shape, in a way that some off the shelf braces fall short.

3.) How To Find A Company Near You That Makes CTOs – Chicago Example

Probably one of the most common ways that people find a brace company these days is by searching on the internet. If you go to Google and type in “CTO” or “Cervical Thoracic Orthosis” and “Chicago” you will most likely find a brace company in your area that can help you get this kind of device. Remember, you are searching for orthopedic braces here. Some sites will pop up that focus on the teeth. You can also type in “CTO” and the zip code number “60611” if you wish to get more specific. These are general examples that can be applied across the board no matter where you live.

The Underlying Causes Of Autism

In my opinion, I believe that Autism is caused by a series of genetic errors, exposure to toxic metals, particularly mercury from dental fillings and common vaccinations, poor cerebral blood flow and then the growth of candida and viruses in the body. These factors combine to create the “Autistic Child.” These are the “Steps to Autism”.

Both from my own observations and the study of thousands of lab tests of children with Autism and ADD I confidently make these statements of fact. In addition, independent researches have made these same observations independent of my opinions.

In 1984 I 1st began to consult the parents of children with learning disabilities and behavioral issues who had no obvious pathology, retardations or birth defects. Within the year of studying the hair mineral tests of at lease 12-15 children, I begin to observe that almost all the children had elevated levels of several different toxic metals. After developing vitamin- mineral detox programs for these children and implementing then over the period of 6-8 months not only did the test show a great improvement, but the behavioral issues dramatically improved as well. This was my 1st actual experience with the relationship between toxic metals and these unexplained behavioral problems in children that were just be labeled “Autism” and “Attention Deficit Disorder.”

As time has progressed, I observed that Autistic and ADD children will typically test positive for Candida Albicans overgrowth and other types of intestinal imbalances. It is has been found that Candida and other intestinal organisms can release neurological toxins that can effect memory and moods. I feel that this is a component of Autism and adds to the cognitive issues that Autistic children demonstrate. In the mid to late the “boom” in the diagnosis of Autism may be directly coincidental to the increased use of Mercury containing vaccinations. “Thymerisol”, is the mercury containing preservative found in vaccinations that have been found responsible for a large amount of mercury burden found in children. Dr. Rashid Buttar has done considerable mercury detoxification of children with Autism. Dr.Buttar treated his own son for mercury related Autism and has effectively cured him. He brought his son with him when he spoke before the United States Congress on the relationship between mercury and Autism. His son testified in front of congress and became youngest person ever to do so. Dr. Buttar explains his position on his website as such;

It is generally accepted that autism is caused by abnormalities in brain structure or function. Researchers are investigating a number of theories, including a possible link between heredity, genetics, and medical problems. Although there appears to be a pattern of autism or related disabilities in many families, researchers have not yet identified a single “trigger” that causes autism to develop.

Highly controversial is a potential relationship between autism and the mercury in thimerosal, a preservative used until recently in many childhood vaccines. Some argue that in children whose systems cannot expel the toxic metal, brain damage results. A 2001 investigation by the Institute of Medicine concluded that the “evidence favors rejection of a causal relationship…between MMR vaccines and autistic spectrum disorders (ASD).” The committee acknowledged, however, that it could not rule out the possibility that the MMR vaccine could contribute to ASD in a small number of children. More research is warranted

Autism is a spectrum disorder, the symptoms of which can appear in a wide variety of combinations from mild to severe. Individuals with autism may have trouble initiating and/or maintaining a conversation, talking “at” others in a sort of monologue. Autistic children also may have sensory integration problems, with their senses over- or under-active. Aggressive and/or self-injurious behavior may be evident in some cases.

According to the CDC, categories of problems that may appear in an individual with autism or another ASD include:

Social skills:

Individuals with ASDs may not interact with others normally, make eye contact, or express empathy. Children may resist being held or cuddled and may not notice when others try to engage them in conversation.

Speech, language, and communication:

About 40% of children with ASDs do not talk at all, and others have echolalia, meaning they repeat what was said to them. Gestures such as waving goodbye may be misunderstood, pronouns may be confused, and they may talk too loudly or softly without knowing it. Those with ASDs may have trouble listening, instead delivering a “speech” about a favorite topic.

Repeated behaviors and routines:

ASD individuals resist change and cling to routine so they know what to expect. Some may repeat actions over and over again.

Children with ASDs develop at different rates in different areas of growth. For example, they might have large delays in language, social, and cognitive skills, while their motor skills may be similar to other children their age. They may excel at solving puzzles but may be unable to make friends or easily carry on a conversation.

According to the Autism Society of America (www.autism-society.org), autistic persons may exhibit some of the following characteristics:

Insists on sameness; resists change.

Has difficulty expressing needs; uses gestures or pointing instead of words.

Repeats words or phrases in place of normal, responsive language.

Laughs, cries, shows distress for reasons not apparent to others.

Prefers to be alone; aloof manner.

Has tantrums.

Displays difficulty in mixing with others.

May not want to cuddle or be cuddled.

Engages in little or no eye contact.

Is unresponsive to normal teaching methods.

Sustains odd play.

Spins objects.

Displays inappropriate attachment to objects.

Is over- or under-sensitive to pain.

Has no real fears of danger.

Displays noticeable physical over-activity or extreme under-activity.

Has uneven gross/fine motor skills.

Is unresponsive to verbal cues; acts as if deaf, although hearing tests are normal.

Because there are no medical tests for diagnosing autism, a diagnosis must be based on observation of an individual’s communication, behavioral, and developmental characteristics over a period of time. Autistic behaviors may or may not be apparent in infancy, but usually are evident in children 24 months to 6 years old. The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) lists these five behaviors that may suggest further evaluation:

Does not babble or coo by 12 months.

Does not gesture (point, wave, grasp) by 12 months.

Does not say single words by 16 months.

Does not say two-word phrases on his or her own by 24 months.

Has any loss of language or social skills at any age.

Several screening instruments have been developed that also may help diagnose autism, including the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS), the Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (CHAT), the Autism Screening Questionnaire, and the Screening Test for Autism in Two-Year-Olds.

The Steps Explained

The child is born with Genetic errors. Autism begins with a set of genetic errors which result in an inability to excrete toxic metals from the body. Normally the body will excrete toxic through pathways in the body the involve sulfur compounds and different nutrients. However the genetic errors commonly found in Autistic children interfere with the ability to release toxic metals. These children have been called “Non-execrators”. While there are several genetic errors cataloged in Autistic children, the 2 most common that I have seen are designated “EPHX”, “MTHFR” and MTRR. The Gene errors, MTHFR and MTRR are ones that interfere with the body’s use of B vitamins in the sulfur detoxification pathways. “EPHX”, is a specific gene error that causes the inability to excrete toxic metals and chemicals.

The child is vaccinated with mercury containing substances and acquires silver amalgam dental fillings. The mercury that he has now been exposed to begins to cause neurological damage. It also aggravates poor cerebral blood flow. Autistic children may also be born with genetic errors that affect that “vascular integrity”. Examples are “MTRR” and “MTHRF”. These gene errors not only hinder detoxification of mercury but they also cause a predisposition to vascular weakness. Poor blood flow to the brain and nerve tissues cause cognitive disorders and make it more difficult if not impossible to “heal”

The child receives antibiotics and develops candida albican and a general state of “Dysbiosis”.” Dysbiosis” is a state of imbalance between helpful friendly micro-organisms and harmful ones in the intestines. Candida is known to cause neurological and cognitive problems. It also can damage the gut lining can “leaky gut syndrome”. This “leaky guts syndrome”, allows incompletely digested proteins and chemical residues from food, drink and the environment in general, to enter the blood stream and cause allergies and chemical sensitivities. This worsens the cognitive problems, causes inflammatory responses which the vascular problems and compounds all the previous issues we have discussed.

Unfortunately as a result of all the problems above, the child will develop host of vitamin and mineral deficiencies which complicate things. In addition when the child is given vitamins and mineral they can often cause a worsening of symptoms due to allergic reactions to them and the interactions between the toxic metals and the nutrients.

The Confusion

When you treat a child with Autism, they may intermittently worsen! When you remove toxic metals from the body the person feels temporarily poisoned. When you kill candida the dead debris from the candida cause an allergic reaction referred to a “Herxhimer reaction”, which makes the person feel ill. Parents treating the child for the true underlying causes of Autism often must endure periods of the Child’s symptoms appearing worse as a result of the detoxification.

The Long Range Treatment Plan

Candida and Leaky gut conditions should be treated first. This is because Candida interferes with the absorption of vitamins and nutrition needed to heal the body. Candida can also spread and multiply as mercury and other toxic metals are detoxified and pulled through the intestinal tract. Toxic metals lower the intestinal immune response and are absorbed by candida cells that then create more toxic forms of the metals. Toxic metals cam also leak back into the blood stream when one has ‘leaky gut syndrome”.

Treating vascular deficiencies with nitric oxide enhances agents such as “Nitrobid” can speed the removal of candida by increase the oxygen potential of the tissue. Candida hates oxygen. Nitric oxide enhancing agents can also immediately give symptomatic improvement in cognitive symptoms.

Detoxify the mercury and other heavy metals! This may take up to several years to remove. Particularly in the child who is the “non-excretor”. This is the child with the genetic errors spoke of earlier. There are several treatment options available. A successful plan involves a chelator such as Dmsa or Dmps and a synergistic list of vitamins, minerals and amino acids that assist in the removal of the metals. It is very important that the patients take substances which absorb the toxic metals in the intestinal tract to prevent reabsorption.

The child must be put on a maintenance of nutrients to deter any the genetic errors that they are predisposed to from occurring. Many of the current labs that perform DNA testing will recommend nutritional supplements to help avert any illness or tendency for the genetic errors to manifest. This is very important as the Autistic child, as his genes are not going to change. While the conditions that lead to Autism can be reversed, the genetics of their bodies will not change. They will always be predisposed to these conditions because of their genetics.

What Is PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder)

If you find yourself with some extreme cases of PMS or PMT as it is also known then you might actually have another disorder called PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder). You might already know this or suspect it, but do you know what it really is? Is it just some new disorder created by the pharmaceutical companies to push more of their drugs? Or is it a real condition that needs serious attention?

My view is that it IS a serious issue for women who suffer from this condition whether some people believe it or not! If you have PMDD, or even very intense PMS/PMT then you really do need to know more about it because there are quite a few problems this condition creates in your life such as:

  • Causing damage to your relationships with friends and family
  • Destroying mental health with depression and anxiety
  • Bringing about physical pain and lethargy
  • May also be linked to other menstrual disorder
  • And of course, making you feel like you are not in control anymore!

So if you want to know more, what is PMDD besides this long title of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder?

Well, at its core, PMDD is an endocrine (hormonal) disorder that leads to many symptoms of a psychological and physical nature. Interestingly PMDD has only been properly classified as a separate condition form PMS for a few years at the time of writing this. Even with the American Psychiatric Association listing it as a disorder there is still some confusion and often disbelief from medical professionals and the general public making this a difficult problem to face and even harder to overcome at time. Some women never mange to beat it because they are told constantly that it is just a bad case of PMS and they should just ‘get over it’ – which is insulting and shameful.

PMDD is like a much worse PMS and is caused by the changes in hormones of your body in the last week or two of the menstrual cycle. Your hormones become unbalanced which leads to knock on effects in your body that are still being studied. What is known is that this hormonal imbalance causes the mood regulators in the brain to not work properly which leads to the mental instability, irrational anger, depression and other psychological issues.

PMDD in short, is a disorder that you do not want to experience, and requires you to rebalance the hormones in your body to become stable and healthy again.

Foods To Avoid With Fibroids

There are a number of foods to avoid with fibroids, many of which you are probably already familiar with. With so much nutritional advice around these days, we can usually tell by looking at a food or at least by reading the label if it is something we should be avoiding.

First of all, lets look at alcohol. It is of no nutritional value at all for the body and is particularly bad if you have fibroids. Alcohol is difficult for the liver to metabolize and therefore loads extra strain on this organ. The liver is responsible for metabolizing our hormones and failure to do this properly can lead to a build up of estrogen which is a contributory factor in fibroid formation.

You should also avoid adding salt to your foods either during the cooking process or afterwards. Salt can encourage fluid retention and bloating, both of which can adversely affect your condition.

Sugar is another of the foods to avoid with fibroids. Sugar has no nutritional value and is sometimes referred to as the “sweet poison”. Sugar can cause insulin levels to spike and then rapidly drop, eventually contributing to insulin resistance. Sugar also depletes your supplies of vitamin B which can cause an increase in muscle tension and can contribute to feelings of depression.

Dogs Throwing Up Undigested Food

Dogs throw up at some time or another in their life time. An occasional vomiting is normal and it is a natural way of getting rid of unwanted food or foreign elements. Ingesting unfamiliar or inedible foods and gorging can cause an upset stomach that results in vomiting. Indigestion due to a variety of reasons causes the stomach muscles to contract painfully and to expel the contents of the stomach.

Dogs have a strong digestive system. But, due to indiscriminate eating of foods and other inedible objects found in the garbage, the digestive system is severely tested. This renders it incapable of functioning normally and the food ingested by your pet causes an irritation in the stomach. Throwing up the undigested food is a clear indication of a malfunctioning digestive system. Acute or chronic vomiting can bring out undigested food.

Acute Vomiting

Acute vomiting comes suddenly and is usually a one-time occurrence. But, when acute and repeated vomiting occurs, it is caused by a serious ailment and should be treated as an emergency. Acute vomiting is caused by a sudden change in diet or an unfamiliar treat. This can be resolved at home by withholding food and giving his stomach a rest. Usually, a rest from eating should resolve the problem.

Chronic Vomiting

Chronic vomiting is when your pet vomits regularly once or more times a week. This is caused by an inflammation of the intestines. Chronic vomiting indicates a weak digestive system or an infection. Dogs suffering from such a chronic condition have a low energy level and are fussy eaters. They may be sensitive to certain types of food that lead to an inflammation of the intestinal tract.

Treatment Options

Observation and diagnosis will provide the answers for vomiting problems. Keep an eye on the dog at the first sign of discomfort and watch for potential problems. Make a note of the foods he has eaten 24 hours prior to his vomiting. Consult your vet with your dog’s history. Collect the vomit and get it tested. Your vet may suggest tests such as fecal testing, blood work, and X-rays.

• Fasting is a good way to give his stomach a rest and only gradually, increase the food intake.

• Give him bland foods.

• Make sure he drinks fresh water and does not get dehydrated.

• Prevent your dog from eating unfamiliar foods or garbage.

• Monitor the diet and ensure that good sanitary conditions exist.

• For continued vomiting, a few grains of subnitrate of bismuth may be given.

In some cases, your pet may find immediate relief once he vomits. When the foreign object or a toxic substance is thrown up, your dog’s digestive system is likely to get back to its normal functioning levels. When he shows no signs of improvement, taking him to the vet is the best option. Ignoring the symptoms could trigger a serious illness in your pet, which is best prevented.
