Good blood circulation also ensures oxygen supply to the body cells leading to higher metabolic activity. You significantly reduce the chance of getting a heart attack by regularly consuming cinnamon.

20. Toning of tissues:

Considerable anecdotal evidence exists to suggest that cinnamon may have the ability to tone and constrict tissues in the body.

21. Muscle and joint pain relief:

Those who eat cinnamon on a regular basis often report that their muscle and joint pain, as well as stiffness, is reduced or even eliminated.

22. Immune System:

Honey and cinnamon paste is good for boosting the immune system, removing regular fatigue and increasing the longevity of an individual. It is also known to have anti-aging properties.

23. Itching:

Paste of honey and cinnamon is often used to treat insect bites.

24. It is a great source of manganese, fiber, iron, and calcium.

25. Healing: Cinnamon helps in stopping bleeding. Therefore it facilitates the healing process.

Indeed, cinnamon has several health benefits as highlighted above that can be used to improve one’s health and boost one’s immune system. This is a great reason to keep some cinnamon around. Sprinkle it in your tea or coffee, over oatmeal or a sweet potato and, this will do wonders to your health.

[However, there’s a word of warning to be taken that over dosage of cinnamon may be unwise. Also it is not recommended for pregnant women.

Also, people who have been prescribed medication to manage their blood sugar should not reduce or discontinue their dose and take cinnamon instead, especially without consulting your doctor.]

1997-2001 Toyota Camry P0401 Diagnosis

One of the more common codes that I typically see on a 1997-2001 Toyota 2.2L 4-cylinder Camry is a P0401. It is a code that indicates that there is a problem with the EGR System, not necessarily a problem the EGR valve itself. I hear stories of people pulling getting this code and replacing the EGR Valve without doing any testing because they don’t know what to test. They spend needless money and still haven’t fixed the problem.

There are three parts that will generally make this code appear on your car. Yes the EGR Valve is one of them, but you also have the EGR VSV, and the EGR Modulator. The first parts of inspection will be to check the function of the EGR Valve by pulling a vacuum on it with a vacuum pump. You can get a vacuum pump at and auto parts store for around $20 and even rent one at some stores.

Hook up the pump to the only vacuum port on your EGR valve. There will be a small hose attached, that you will need to disconnect and install your pump onto the same port. With the engine running at an idle you should be able to pump the vacuum pump to create vacuum on the EGR valve. The diaphragm inside the EGR Valve should raise and cause the car to die. If your car does die then your EGR Valve and it’s ports are fine. If your car stumbles or doesn’t have any change in the way it runs when you’re pulling vacuum then you probably have a bad EGR Valve or a clogged port in your intake.

If you think you have a bad valve then you should take it off the engine and test it with the same vacuum pump. You should be able to see the diaphragm inside the valve move as you are applying vacuum. If the diaphragm does move then you may have clogged ports in your intake and may need to have the intake cleaned. If it doesn’t move then you should replace the EGR Valve.

However, if your Camry stopped running when you applied that first vacuum then you should start looking to the EGR VSV. I know VS what? It’s a small blue solenoid located on the back of the engine block. It will have a couple of vacuum hoses, and a small plug attached all be held up there with one 10-mm bolt. Remove the VSV and test it by applying power and ground from your cars battery (VSV should not be plugged into harness when testing.) If you hear the VSV click when you apply power then you should replace the EGR Modulator.

The EGR Modulator is located to the right of the EGR Valve above your intake. It will have several vacuum hoses coming off of it and slides into a holder. The EGR Modulator can be purchased relatively cheap at your dealer. There is no easy testing for the modulator. If you replace the modulator and still have a problem and the light comes back on, you should then replace the EGR VSV also known as the Vacuum Switching Valve. Sometimes the VSV can have an internal break and still click when you put power and ground to the terminals, but still be bad.

So you could be wasting your money by just throwing on a valve. Remember the only way to fix something right is to know the proper testing procedure so you can come to a correct fix.

The Pharmacy School Interview With Actual Interview Questions

The pharmacy school interview is an integral part of the application process as the admission staff, who already knows everything about you on paper, will finally be able to see how you will fit into their program. This is also your time to interview each pharmacy school, so be prepared to ask questions you may have about their program.

Most pharmacy schools do a good job of making the interview session as comfortable and non-stressful as possible. Usually current pharmacy school students will greet you and make conversation with you. Take full advantage of this opportunity to loosen yourself up and practice your speaking skills. By this time you should have already completed your speech requirement, so now is the time to make use of what you have learned in the classroom!

Prepare yourself by familiarizing yourself with what you wrote on your personal statement essay. In addition, it is a good idea to have a general idea on what kind of questions are going to be asked.

As soon as you meet your interviewers, take the initiative to build rapport / spark up a mini conversation (crazy traffic this morning, beautiful day, etc). Smile and split eye contact between all your interviewers as much as possible when you are speaking and keep eye contact on the person asking the questions.

Some General Interview Questions

1. Tell me about yourself

2. What was your favorite/most difficult course in college?

3. Who is your greatest role model?

19. What makes you unique?

20. Where will you be in 5 / 10 years?

21. Anything else we should know about you? YES, [list other positive aspects about you]

Be familiar with topics in health care and ongoing changes to pharmacy practice as you may be asked to give your opinion or specific questions on some of the major events that are going on now.

Other questions may be hypothetical questions that place you in a ‘difficult’ or ethical situation where you will need to discuss your course of action. There is usually no right or wrong answer, but make sure you are paying close attention to the question being asked so that you don’t miss anything. Take a moment to think over your answer before starting to speak.

I personally bought a book to have the correct mindset and strategy to answer even the toughest interview questions. I think this really helped me to nail my interviews. Check my Pharmacy School Interview Lens for a link to actual interview feedback and questions from each pharmacy school.

Don’t stress out, you’ll be just fine for your interviews!!

Drugs, CIA, And USA – Mena, Arkansas Coverup

I watched a very disturbing and enlightening video about drugs, the CIA, and American governmental corruption last night. The title is CONSPIRACY, THE SECRET HISTORY, SECRET HEARTBEAT OF AMERICA – The C.I.A. & Drugs. New Science Ideas is the producer. Every American should watch this video.

It seems people overseas know more about the CIA than most Americans. Of course there is a reason for this. Our media is censored in the name of “national security” matters. National security, as you will learn, is a subject that shows up in the weirdest places.

The drugging of America costs us more than $16 billion a year and has killed more people than the Vietnam war. Who profits and who is responsible? Follow the money.

Ironically when first lady Nancy Reagan was saying “Just say no to drugs.” the CIA and Barry Seal were bringing them in from Medellin, Colombia. The agency used the cocaine money once sold in the USA to buy and bring arms to the contras to Nicaragua. Oliver North was heavily involved in the fiasco.

Anyone in Mena, Arkansas who tried to expose this circle of corruption, including the head prosecutor, was threatened or killed. When two young men saw a drug drop by the train tracks in Arkansas, they were immediately knocked off. The cover-up ran throughout local and state government. President Clinton was the Governor of Arkansas at that time. He played along keeping quiet and afterward got lots of drug money donated to his presidential campaigns.

President Bush I was no less guilty as former director of the CIA. His watchful eye and reading of the CIA briefings, which he as a former President still reads daily, makes him equally liable during his tenure as Vice President. At least they got that word vice right?

The people who caused the cocaine epidemic that swept the nation during the 1980s wasn’t African Americans in the ghetto. Many of them in those days could barely cash a paycheck, much less smuggle drugs via planes into the country. When the USA has satellite technology capable of reading the writing on a golf ball, there should be no difficulty tracking down the likes of drug smugglers and Bin Laden. That is unless you are covertly working with them.

A three-year investigation into the life and times of Barry Seal, one of the most famous CIA agents and successful drug smugglers in America’s history, revealed the extent of governmental corruption throughout America.

When Mena, Arkansas was brought up during the Oliver North trial, suddenly everything went into closed quarters away from the public eye. Why? What does the government know that it doesn’t want the American people to know?

When international drug distribution organizations are integrated vertically throughout our government, there is room for concern. Dan Harmon was involved in the obstruction of justice locally n Saline County, Arkansas. He was indicted and found guilty on 5 of 11 charges. Sucking off the tit of shameful governmental secret operations, Harmon was never charged for murder in the two train deaths. After his release from prison, Harmon was promoted. I guess it pays to be connected and play along.

New Orleans attorney Sam Dalton poignantly said, “When the government involves itself in activities like the CIA and starts averting natural events and the natural course of history, that is where the government itself becomes the criminal. This whole thing is hiding in plain sight. If you want a scandal, investigate retired DEA agents net worth and put it together. If the American people don’t make the government start behaving soon, we’re going to reach the point of no return.”

With Barry Seal and the CIA working the drug trade, they found in the deep south some compliant and cooperative governors. Hence the list of later Presidents elected from the south.

The FBI went to the New Orleans police office and seized the trunk and walked out with it, when Barry Seal died. The state judge had to back up attorney Sam Dalton and hold the FBI in contempt of court to get what evidence it needed for discovery. Sam Dalton also wanted to subpoena the CIA, but was unable to do so.

Jaws isn’t over until the sheriff meets the shark. Mena, Arkansas proved to be the biggest drop point for drugs in the entire country, a $130 billion dollar industry. It’s rather easy apparently to finance a governmental covert operation, when all airport personnel are willing to play along. The secret wars of the CIA 1981-1987 is written about by Woodward. The Clintons were partners in power.

To see the real culprits look around the periphery – not the smoking gun, but the bent twigs. Note the deaths, firings, threats, and attacks upon people in the know. Dan Lasater, a convicted drug dealer, was a big Clinton supporter. Jerry Parks, the head of than governor Clinton’s security detail, was killed in a hail of gunfire after telling associates he was a dead man one month after Vince Foster died. Arkansas criminal investigator Russell Welch got poisonous military grade anthrax sprayed in his face for his probe into the coverup.

Arkansas state coroner Bobby Malick (an Egyptian) played right along claiming he never made a mistake in 7000 autopsies. When the two young men who were killed on the train tracks for seeing a drug drop, Malick claimed it was a suicide. When the parents didn’t believe it, he decided to tell them the boys had high amounts of marijuana in their systems. However the 2nd autopsy revealed that stabbings had occurred along with a bruise to the face from what looked like the butt of a rifle. The boys lungs had 3 times the normal amount of blood in them, which indicated they were not killed by the impact of a train.

Sheriff Jim Stead, another participant in the coverup, called it a thorough investigation. The boy’s mother disagreed considering her son’s foot was left laying on the train tracks for 2 days. The green tarp seen by many after the impact of the train also brought into question a government cover-up.

Prosecutor Jean Duffey was one of the few would didn’t play along. She was threatened and eventually run out of town. She thought her life was in danger and moved to Houston, TX where she now teaches high school geometry. Duffey was appointed to head a federally funded drug task force in Arkansas. The day she was appointed Gary Arnold walked in and told her she was not to use the task force to investigate any public officials.

Duffey was put in charge of half-a-dozen under cover agents. They couldn’t get much above street level buying, but when they started connecting public officials to protecting the drug dealers Dan Harmon’s name came up immediately and most frequently. The train deaths became the most famous unsolved mystery in Arkansas history. It received national attention and 1,000 newspapers wrote about it. Possible witnesses however were turning up dead.

Drug drops from low flying airplanes, which local residents reported hearing many nights, were never investigated by any law enforcement agency in the district. The drugs were being dropped in the same vicinity where Kevin & Don had been murdered along the train tracks.

Prosecutor Jean Duffey was the object of a smear campaign. Basically she was getting too close to the 7th judicial district. Hence she was fired in order to cover their asses. In 1991, drug task force secret agent Scott Loellen quit, saying “There is just too much dirt behind the scenes.” He served Saline, Grant, and Hot Springs counties. He later bad mouthed the drug task force saying, “That district is immersed in a reign of corruption that has important and powerful connections to political, judicial, and law enforcement officials.”

As an under cover officer, Scott gathered evidence of illegal activity, but for some reason the drug task force chose to ignore him. He quit because of the firing of Jean Duffey, the drug task force administrator.

In June 1990, Dan Harmon became the district’s prosecutor elect. Harmon’s first news conference and interview was entirely used to discredit Jean Duffey, who was disposed of and forced to flee to Houston, TX as her life was in danger.

Prosecutor Dan Harmon was on the tracks the night the boys were murdered. State police also were not doing their job. The mothers of the deceased boys were promised convictions in the 1990 federal investigation, when suddenly Chuck Banks shut down the investigation in June of 1991.

Other bits and pieces of evidence linking it all together was the fact that in the 1980s a former top CIA official kept a 2nd home in Medellin, Colombia.

Some other juicy tidbits of information. Oliver North’s 1st national program office was at Laguna Airfield, where 1400 lbs of cocaine was found on the runway.

Southern Air Transport, owned and operated by the CIA, provided the agency a subcontractor for plausible deniability while they dealt in drugs and arms trade. The privatization of American intelligence is the way the agency works.

The British version of 60 minutes, The Big Story, showed the trail of drug smuggling and gun running that led to the door of the White House. It exposed the blundering government coverups spanning seven investigations and some long frustrating years. The show revealing the cocaine connection was immediately banned in the USA within hours of its release.

During the days of the Oliver North trial, some 500 documents were shredded over 3 days. All our enemies knew it, but North wanted to conceal and keep it from Congress. Even surfers in Nicaragua named a surf spot after him do to the agency’s base there. As for Mena, Arkansas, it was home to Operation Black Eagle, the most massive covert operation in U.S. history.

1101 Mena St. is the local to the secret history of our life and times as a nation trafficking in drugs and arms. It is a small obscure town in western Arkansas, with a population around 5,000 people. With no tower and monitoring of flights, Barry Seal found Mena to be the perfect place to fly in and out without being recorded. Barry brought up to $5 billion of cocaine into the USA during the 1980s. Mena was where he based his cargo airline and parked his one of three C123 planes that made trips to Colombia and Nicaragua.

The mere mention of Mena has been sending chills down the spines of government propaganda officials for years. It’s nice to see the Democrats and Republicans work together on something. The doping of America is truly a bipartisan coverup.

The Best Natural Antibiotic: Benefits Of Colloidal Silver

It becomes unquestionably obvious what the best natural antibiotic is when you look at the history and recent research on the benefits of colloidal silver. The efficacy of colloidal silver becomes even more conclusive with the 1999 FDA ruling against its use after it had been employed for centuries in cultures worldwide.

If anyone still lacks awareness of big pharma’s power to influence the FDA they certainly won’t understand the last statement! Suffice to say that colloidal silver’s use as an antibiotic fell by the way side when pharmaceutical companies patented organic antibiotics.

There are more than a few issues, well-known in the field of medicine, with organic antibiotics. Not the least of which is that they destroy all the beneficial microbes in the gut necessary for proper digestion and assimilation of nutrients.

Then, there is the growing and alarming problem we are faced with in resistant strains of pathogens. The flippant prescribing of antibiotics for every and any sign of disease has bred incredibly powerful and dangerous pathogens that are immune to most of the organic antibiotics available.

The impressive germ killing properties of silver have been known for centuries as it was used by the wealthy in ancient civilizations to store liquids and make eating utensils. It was prescribed by the Ayurvedic system of medicine, which was developed in India 2,000 years ago, for infectious and inflammatory diseases.

When the pioneers who settled North America pushed the frontier west it was common to throw silver coins into the water barrels to keep the water free of germs. This was a throwback to ancient dynasties of Egypt and the Middle East where silver coins were placed in the water of monarchs and nobles.

Just as the Romans used it for preventing infection and healing wounds it is commonly and, I might say, very successfully used for the same thing today, especially burns. Silver is also used in medicine for a number of other applications that require anti-microbial properties. These include catheter, bone implants and cardiovascular devices like heart valves and stents.

The big breakthrough in the historical use of silver as an antibiotic came in 1914 when Henry Crookes discovered in his experimentation that silver in its colloidal form killed B. Tuberculosis in 4 minutes and Streptococci and other pathogens in 3 to 4 minutes.

Colloidal silver was historically produced by a process of electrolysis in distilled water. This forms ions of silver and as they multiply some of the ions coalesce into microscopic particles. Ideally you want to produce very small particles in the order of 40 to 50 nanometres. The uniformity of the particles is also important.

Ironically it was first supported by the pharmaceutical industry when it was widely promoted in the early 1900’s by Albert Searle who founded the pharmaceutical company, which later became Merck. With the discovery of penicillin and its use in medicine beginning in the 1940’s the tables were turned.

It would have been very difficult for pharmaceutical companies to get a patent for a natural occurring precious metal. Hence, it is even more ironic that the tables have turned again! In 2001 American Biotech Labs was awarded the first colloidal silver manufacturing process patent.

They discovered a way of producing an ideal silver nanoparticles with high voltage arcing, which produces an exceptional product. Biotech has since had a number of patents approved as well as EPA approval as a non-toxic disinfectant for everything from home to hospital use.

Probably due to the foolish FDA restrictions Biotech took their product to Africa where it was not only successful in a wide number of applications it garnered them approval by the government of Ghana as a homeopathic drug. No doubt due to the clinical studies in which patients in a matter of days experienced full recovery from everything from malaria to Gonorrhea.

The results of clinical studies, some over 5 years long, by prestigious scientists and universities is no less than staggering. These covered a broad spectrum of deadly bacteria as well as viruses. One significant such study demonstrated that colloidal silver had no detrimental effect on probiotics, those friendly microbes we all need for digestion. This was independently verified in animal studies which actually showed an improvement in probiotics with higher doses of colloidal silver.

The benefits of colloidal silver as a natural antibiotic are numerous. It can be used topically, transdermally or taken internally. I use it as a mouthwash as well as a disinfectant for wounds and take it internally if there is any sign of the flue or a cold as it also has exceptional anti-viral properties as well.

It does not take too much imagination to put to good use a non-toxic natural substance that has proven, tried and true antibiotic, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties! Granted, like any good thing, too much has deleterious effects.

There have been reported cases of argyria, which is a permanent, medically benign blue/gray skin discolouration from particles being deposited. Considering how many people use colloidal silver and for how long, these are few and far between.

Besides the EPA’s assessment of the bare minimum intake required to produce argyria is 900 mg in a year. That would require drinking a couple of 4 oz bottles every day! I certainly wouldn’t recommend ingesting it daily as a supplement as many people do.

A healthy body should, in most cases, produce sufficient defences against bacterial and viral infection as well as inflammation from a nutritious diet. I don’t believe that it is wise to interfere with those natural processes with daily supplements.

Whenever our defence system, for whatever reason, does break down it is great to have a natural, non-toxic remedy on hand. Especially an antibiotic that won’t destroy the good guys

Personally, I make my own as it is not difficult if done properly and so much cheaper. But for anyone who wants to purchase it I would recommend getting the best. Laboratory tests of commercially marketed colloidal silver have shown a vast disparity from the contents advertised.

Are Vitamins Necessary?

For thousand and thousand of years, people got all the vitamins and minerals they needed from the foods they ate. However, in today’s world there is processed foods, drugs, cigarettes, and alcoholic beverages that interfere with adequate nutrition.

Because of this, for some people even a reasonably well-balanced and varied diet can’t supply enough certain nutrients needed for the body. These people would need to increase their consumption of foods rich in certain vitamins to compensate and possibly add supplements of one or more vitamins to make it beneficial.

Pregnant and Nursing Women:

Vitamin supplements are given to women who are pregnant or nursing and in the ideal situation this should not be necessary -except for extra iron – since both pregnancy and lactation increase a woman’s need for calories and because she is eating extra food, she naturally consumes extra vitamins. However, women who have morning sickness beyond the morning, or who have diets for weight control the pregnant women will often have reduced blood levels of vitamins A, C, B6, B12, and folacin. If this should happen, then vitamin supplements would be prescribed. Generally a multivitamin and mineral supplement are prescribed to all women who are pregnant and nursing.

Infants that are given vitamin supplements are usually not needed because the RDAs for infants are based primarily on the vitamin content of breast milk which is the ideal complete food for infants for the first six months of life. There are however some differences in vitamin content between breast milk and cow’s milk and a vitamin supplement may be important for babies who are not breast fed.

Women using oral contraceptives:

Using the birth control pill will often found to have reduced blood levels of thiamin, riboflavin, B6, B12, folacin and vitamin C, B6 deficiency while on the pill has be linked with mental depression and a vitamin supplement will be needed.

Those who smoke one and a half packs of cigarettes a day have 30% – 40% less vitamin C in their blood than nonsmokers and this is because the Vitamin C is being used up when their body attempts to repair damage to the cells caused by the toxic elements in tobacco smoke. This vitamin C deficit can be made up by either consuming and 8-ounce glass of orange juice per day or a vitamin C supplement.

A heavy drinker will require more thiamin, niacin, folacin and B6 than person who drink only socially or not at all even if their diet is extremely good. Alcohol damages the liver and interferes with its ability to store needed vitamins, especially folacin and to convert the vitamins to their active chemical forms. Drinking alcohol also leads to poor absorption of vitamins from foods, and it will increase the requirement for vitamins by using some to metabolize the alcohol and to repair the tissue damage it has caused. A heavy drinker usually does not eat properly cause they substitute nutrient -deficient alcohol calories for nutrient rich food calories and compromise their vitamin intake. You will need to daily multivitamin supplement if you will need to daily multivitamin supplement if you drink the equivalent of four or more shoots (2 ounces of pure alcohol) of alcohol a day.

Medicine in History – Baths Of The Ancient Rome

In ancient world, there were no hospitals, no injections and other “charms” of modern life. How did people take care of themselves then? Let’s talk about the medicine of Ancient Rome, or, to be more exact, Roman baths.

In III – II centuries BC there were almost no doctors in Rome. They thought that the best way to cure diseases and stay healthy was to make regular visits to baths, or therms, which is translated as “hot.” In fact, it was not just a fashionable tendency, it was a real cult. They visited baths every day, some patricians could even spend most of their time there. But this is quite understandable: a bath was not just a place to clean your body, but also a club, a gym, a medical area… This was a place for washing, training, discussing, negotiating as well as painting, writing, playing music, partying and even sleeping. With no exaggeration, one could spend the whole life in a bath.

In the end of the V century AC there were almost 900 baths in Rome, serving a population of about 2 million. Any emperor who wanted to acquire his people’s love built free public therms. The rich ones had their own baths, lavishly decorated and adorned with marble, expensive wood, silver and gold.

The Romans did know about how helpful and healthy the baths were. But how did they look like? We can be quite sure about what we know because we have the ruins of the Roman’s best known baths, the Baths of Caracalla. Plus to this, there are numerous ancient scripts telling us how exactly the Romans spent their time there. So.

Palestre. A visit to baths started with some physical exercises. That’s what palestras were used for. The exercises were not that energetic, and, as a rule, not aggressive. Some Romans did practice combat sports, at least that’s what frescoes mention, but most of them preferred sprinting, swimming etc. The main idea was to warm up, limber up and to sweat.

Apodyterium, or simply a dressing room, contained cubicles, shelves and benches for the visitors to leave their clothes at. This was rather convenient, but however, they did not guarantee 100 % clothes safety. Those who could afford it left their slave or a servant by their belongings so as to look after it. Otherwise there were chances that you’d go home naked. If the clothes was stolen anyway, the only thing one could do is to turn to call upon the gods and demand justice. For this he had to write a damnation on a clay board and bring it to a temple.

Tepidarium is translated as the “warm place”, the heated room used for bathing and ablution. With the help of the slaves or by themselves the Romans rubbed oil into their skin (they had no soap at the time), and then scraped it with the help of special curved metal instruments. Massage and even depilation treatments were also done here (despite the pain it caused, depilation was rather popular with Romans). After all the treatments, the washed and relaxed Romans went to swim in a warm swimming pool, and then followed to the next rooms.

Caldarium and the Hypocaust. The hottest space was called Caldarium – a spacious room with high ceiling containing hot plunge baths. The water was heated by the hypocaust, a kind of a furnace located under the Caldarium which was the source of heat for the therms. The temperatures were rather high – to prevent feet burns the Romans wore wooden sandals.

And, finally, a Frigidarium, or a cold room, which was used after the baths. Visitors could bathe, relax and enjoy the cultural programme: poets, musicians, actors and dancers were there to entertain them. They could also have a snack or a drink and sleep here. In the end, tired and sometimes drunk, they returned back to the Apodyterium to get dressed and go home.

Fast Food – Obesity and Eating Habits

With our plentiful supply of fast food, obesity has become a major problem in the United States, the United Kingdom and many other parts of the world. Fast food is an integral part of life in the developed and also the developing world, and with it comes a massive increase in obesity and associated problems.

Children in the United States eat approximately five times the amount of fast food their counterparts ate in the 1980s. And Europe is not far behind them. Developing countries like China are also having to face childhood obesity for the first time, now that western fast food chains have opened their doors in the major cities.

A research project in the United States, carried out over a fifteen year period, has established that there is a definite link between the consumption of fast food and the increase in obesity. It was found that people who ate in fast food restaurants more than twice a week weighed on average four and a half pounds more than those who ate in these food outlets only occasionally. And the “fast food junkies” are also twice as likely to suffer from obesity.

Why does fast food cause obesity? Fast foods, such as burgers and fries are high in fat, salt and calories. In fact a super size meal can contain more calories than the average person should consume in an entire day. Unfortunately, meals consisting of junk food don’t fill you up for long. Because they are lacking in fibre, and are made of processed foods, they tend to rate high on the glycaemic index, which means they provide a quick rise in blood sugar, but this also falls quickly, giving rise to hunger.

Unless we cut down on our consumption of fast food, obesity rates will continue to rise, creating a legacy of ill health for ourselves and our children.

Penis Rash Lumps and Spots – Common Causes and Effective Treatments

Spots, bumps or rash on penis skin and the surrounding area can be caused by numerous different skin conditions. Most of these are minor and non-contagious, but any sign of penis rash symptoms should be checked carefully. Soothing irritated skin and healing minor rashes on the penis is often a matter of proper skin care, using all-natural cleansers, as well as moisturizers containing penis-specific vitamins and minerals, in order to improve the resiliency and healing ability of the erogenous tissue.

The following descriptions may be useful in identifying common causes of penile skin rash, bumps or spots. It is important to remember that penis rashes and other skin issues that do not clear up after a few days could be a sign of a more serious condition requiring medical treatment.

Symptoms: Dryness; itching; swelling; and raised, spreading rash on penis

These symptoms are often caused by a penis skin allergy or sensitivity to materials in the environment. Clothing dyes, detergents, plants, deodorants and fragrances are common causes of allergic reactions. Many men are also sensitive to the latex used in the manufacture of many types of condoms.

Avoid contact with the material in question. Wash the area thoroughly and dry completely before dressing. To soothe discomfort and boost healing, apply a penis vitamin crème to the area at least once per day; continue application after the rash heals to improve the tone and texture of the penis.

Symptoms: Red rash with well-defined borders; dryness and flaking

These symptoms are often an indication of a chronic skin condition known as psoriasis, which also affects other parts of the body. Psoriasis symptoms may be worsened by masturbation or sex. While this condition is not contagious and cannot be passed on to a sexual partner, it can cause embarrassment, as it may be mistaken for an STD or other communicable disease.

Psoriasis may be treated with steroids in some cases. However, vitamin A, also known as retinol, has been used successfully in the treatment of this common, yet problematic skin condition. Men who want to avoid the use of steroids, which can have a variety of unpleasant side effects, should talk to their doctor about using a penis vitamin cream containing vitamin A and other healing nutrients.

Symptoms: Red rash, swelling, crusty blisters, sores

These uncomfortable symptoms may indicate a skin infection such as impetigo.

In general, an infection will need to be treated with medication. However, treating the penis skin with a healing vitamin formula can help to keep the area moisturized and boost the natural healing properties of the dermis, preventing microbial agents from entering through tiny lesions in the skin and causing infection.

Symptoms: Flesh-colored or red bumps at the base of the penis and/or on the scrotum

These are most likely nothing more than ordinary follicles, although ingrown hairs may also cause similar symptoms.

Treatment in this case is mainly for cosmetic purposes and may include applying a vitamin formula to the area to support healthy skin texture and tone, as well as to help prevent bacteria from entering the follicles and causing infections as described above.

This list of symptoms and treatments is not exhaustive. There are multiple other types of penis rash symptoms that are common in men of all ages. Any rash symptoms of the penis that are accompanied by flu-like symptoms such as headache, fever, or cough should seek immediate medical treatment.

Avoiding penis rash symptoms

As with any other medical condition, prevention is always the best treatment. Keeping the skin balanced and well-nourished and supporting the natural immune properties of the outer dermal tissue are the most effective means of keeping the penis healthy and supple-looking. Applying a penis health formula (most health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) containing nutrients such as vitamins A, C, E, D and B5, as well as all-natural moisturizers, can help to maintain the condition of the penis skin.

Cold Sore Treatment

The goal of every cold sore treatment is to make sure that those sore and unsightly blisters are absent a lot more than they are present.

Cold sores are tiny blisters that form mostly around the nostrils and lips but sometimes also elsewhere on the face. The blisters break open and weep before they crust over and disappear.

Cause of Cold Sore

Cold sores are caused by Herpes Simplex virus, usually Herpes Simplex type1. Genital herpes is caused in 70-80% by Herpes Simplex virus type2. The virus itself lives in nerve endings. Nearly all of us carry the cold sore virus even when it’s not causing symptoms. This means that millions of people are infected with the virus, but probably only a quarter of those infected have symptoms of any kind.

A rise in skin temperature – perhaps caused by fever or to much sunlight – activates the virus and they spread out from the nerve endings. That’s why cold sore is often called fever blister. A local or general weakening of the immune system is needed for an outbreak.

What are the Triggers for a Herpes outbreak?

  • Physical or mental stress
  • Excessive cold or heat, including fever
  • Exposure to strong sunlight
  • Menstruation
  • Local skin trauma
  • General ill health and other infections, such as a cold

Herpes Symptom

  1. A tingling sensation (itching and irritation) around the mouth heralds the sore’s imminent arrival, usually within a day or two.
  2. The skin feels oversensitive to touch.
  3. Raised, swollen red area usually around the nostrils and lips.
  4. Tiny blisters form on the spot.
  5. Blisters enlarge, burst, oozes fluid and become painful ulcers after 2 or 3 days.
  6. The ulcers crust over, form scabs. They may crack and bleed easily.
  7. Fade away in 7 to 10 days.

As you would expect, herpes is highly contagious. There is 90% chance of catching it if a member of the family has an active blister. The virus is transmitted through skin contact, for example kissing.

Cold sore that develops near the eye is potentially dangerous and should be seen by a doctor, as soon as symptoms, such as tingling or itching, begin.

As you can see, cold sores are not only annoying they can also be dangerous.

Are you a cold sore sufferer?

  • Do you avoid getting out in the world due to your cold sore problem?
  • Does you life revolve around when your next breakout will be?
  • Do you find yourself hiding your face when other people are around?

Do you want to have your face back?

Yes, you do not have to suffer from cold sore any more!!!

Are Eczema and Psoriasis Related?

Eczema and psoriasis can look like one another at first glance but they are not really related and a good doctor can tell the difference between the two. In extreme cases, where the diagnosis is unknown, a skin biopsy can tell the difference between the two skin diseases.

Eczema and psoriasis are both conditions where the immune system has gotten out of control. In psoriasis, the condition is an autoimmune disease and the immune system is fighting its own tissues, resulting in skin being produced at a remarkably rapid rate, sloughing off into thick patches of scales. In eczema, there may be an allergy to something the skin has come in contact with and the skin reacts by having an allergic skin reaction known as eczema. In eczema, there are often other types of allergies such as hay fever and asthma, which isn’t the case in psoriasis.

Both psoriasis and eczema have red patches of skin and both have some dry scaling but in psoriasis, the scaling is more severe and is silvery in color. Eczema tends to itch a great deal, whereas psoriasis may or may not itch very much. Psoriasis lesions tend to have clear demarcations where eczema lesions can have more diffuse borders. The exception is discoid eczema, which involves well circumscribed small circular lesions, usually on the legs and usually only in dry, wintertime weather.

The location of psoriasis lesions and eczema lesions tend to be different. Psoriasis is classically occurring on the outer aspects of the elbow and knees, occurring in big patches that are well demarcated. The exception is inverse psoriasis, which is not very common. Inverse psoriasis occurs in the folds of the skin, such as near the genitals and beneath the breasts. It also occurs under fat folds in the abdomen. Eczema can occur on the face and can occur in the folds of the elbows, behind the knees and in other skin folds. It tends to be moist when it shows up in the skin folds, and in both psoriasis and eczema, fungal infections can occur secondarily because of moistness in the area of excoriated and damaged skin.

Eczema is much more common than psoriasis. Eczema is common in children and shows up in about 20 percent of kids below the age of 10 years. Five percent of adults have eczema. On the other hand, only about 3 percent of people develop psoriasis and the peak ages of developing the disease is 25-35, with another peak at age 50. Psoriasis in children is uncommon and usually occurs in children between the ages of 5 and 10 years of age.

There is a definite genetic link with psoriasis and if a parent has it, you have a 20 percent chance of getting it, too. If two parents have it, you have a fifty percent chance of getting the disease. Eczema is not technically hereditary although it appears that allergies in general run in families. In eczema, it is usually irritants the skin is exposed to that trigger the development of the condition and reducing those irritants can reduce or eliminate the experience of eczema.

Both conditions are treated in many cases with topical corticosteroids. Corticosteroids block the immune system overload and therefore treat both conditions, even though the problems with the immune system are very different from one disease to the other.

Comparing SSRI Withdrawal and SSRI Discontinuation Syndrome

If you are using a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor, called an SSRI, withdrawal is something you need to be aware of. SSRI Discontinuation Syndrome refers to a collection of symptoms that people who have been taking this type of medication experience when they stop taking it abruptly.

SSRIs increase the level of serotonin, a neurotransmitter, in the brain. Since SSRIs target this brain chemical exclusively, they tend to cause fewer side effects than other medications that can be used to treat depression.

Most people who take SSRIs need to take the medication for a period of time before they start to experience an improvement in their symptoms, although some patients do report feeling better within a few days. For other SSRI users, it may be a few weeks before their symptoms of depression start to lift.

Many side effects are associated with SSRI use. These drugs can cause drowsiness, fatigue, and sexual side effects (lower sex drive, difficulty achieving orgasm, impotence). It’s understandable that someone experiencing them would want to get off the medication as quickly as possible, but stopping an SSRI at once is not the best approach.

Overview of SSRI Withdrawal and SSRI Discontinuation Syndrome

Prozac was the first SSRI used to treat depression. It was put on the market in the 1980s, and it remains the most widely-prescribed antidepressant in the world. In 2001, more than 160 million prescriptions for anti-depressant medication were written in the United States alone.

Since SSRIs work on the brain chemistry and set up a type of dependence, the person taking the medication needs some time to adjust when they are no longer being treated for depression. The Symptoms of SSRI Discontinuation Syndrome are as follows:

Difficulty Sleeping

Patients who want to stop taking an SSRI should discuss the change with a doctor to work out a plan for slowly decreasing the dose so they are less likely to experience withdrawal symptoms. Getting off the medication takes time. This means the doctor will prescribe progressively smaller doses over several weeks until the user is no longer on the medication. Even with this type of plan in place, some patients still experience SSRI withdrawal symptoms.

If a patient has recently stopped taking an SSRI or is gradually cutting back on the dosage and experiences these symptoms, he or she should alert their medical provider. The doctor may be able to prescribe another medication to help alleviate these side effects while the body adjusts to the change in medication levels.

Summary of SSRI Withdrawal and SSRI Discontinuation Syndrome

SSRI withdrawal symptoms can occur when a person who was taking this type of medication stops using it abruptly. SSRIs affect the brain’s chemistry and when the patient stops taking them, they may experience a range of symptoms. They may feel anxious or irritable, have headaches, sleep difficulties or stomach upsets. These kinds of symptoms are known as SSRI Discontinuation Syndrome. The symptoms will pass as the body adjusts to being off the medication.
