Hospital Negligence

When entering a hospital, an implied trust between doctor and patient is created, and a certain amount of care and attention is expected. If these are not achieved, the devastating results can often lead to illness, injury, or death. Hospital negligence can be caused by staff members on both the administrative and medical teams in a health care facility, as well as on multiple levels of severity. No matter what the situation, it is a serious offense. If you feel that you have been the victim of hospital negligence, you may deserve compensation for your pain and suffering.

There are several situations that can lead to hospital negligence. These arise from the inattentiveness of one or more employees at any given time or general misconduct from health care professionals. The causes can include errors in record keeping, failure to maintain proper levels of hygiene, incorrect distribution of medications or dosages, and the failure to adequately monitor a patient’s stability. Though there are many causes of hospital negligence, the effects should all be taken seriously.

In many situations, a patient is already in a state of weakened immunity, and even the slightest error on the part of a staff member can have drastic results. The furthered vulnerability of being in a hospital puts patients in a state of extended susceptibility, and the highest degree of professionalism should be expected on all levels of care. Hospitals negligence can be a threat to anyone that enters a health care facility, and once experienced, can dramatically affect the well-being of those involved.

Drug Rehab – No Insurance? Learn Your Free Rehab Options

Few of us ever plan on needing drug or alcohol rehab, and unfortunately, some of end up needing it without the insurance coverage to pay for it.

With a month’s stay at a private rehab running as much as $20 000 or more, few of us have the savings to self finance a stay at rehab; and unfortunately a lot of us have jobs and homes and families, and although we are in need of assistance, we also do not qualify for state of federal treatment funded aid.

Too poor to pay for rehab, and too rich to qualify for governmentally funded treatment; truly stuck between a rock and a hard place.

You may have heard about more affordable programs, but a Google search doesn’t seem to help much, and where can you go to learn more about the options available to you?

There are options

Thankfully, there are more than 2000 free or very affordable drug and alcohol rehabs in operation coast to coast. These non profit or charity programs do not base entry on your financial situation, but on your need for help. You can find a program that’s going to help you.

Private Rehabs with “low Income” Beds

A lot of private facilities will reserve a certain number of treatment beds for those in need of subsidized care. Treatment is unlikely to be free, but the fees are generally based on your income, family size and ability to pay for care, and can be quite affordable.

Because you will receive the same treatment as others in the program who may have paid tens of thousands of dollars, this can be an exceptional situation and you can expect a very high level of care, service and accommodation.

General Non Profit Rehabs

There are hundreds of treatment facilities in America that exist to serve lower income and uninsured participants. These non profit entities offer comprehensive therapy and often in very pleasant environments. While treatment is rarely free, most programs will not turn away those in need, regardless of their ability to pay for services.

The Salvation Army and Gospel Missions

Sometimes overlooked, these programs do not offer luxury, in fact the lodgings tend to be quite Spartan, but for those with nowhere else to turn, either of these organizations offer sanctuary, treatment and hope. Programs tend to be long term, free of charge, and open to all willing to participate in a Faith based program of recovery.

Recovery Housing

Another often overlooked therapeutic environment is sober living housing. A sober living house does not offer the therapeutic intensity of a drug rehab, but they can be very inexpensive, and will offer long term sober residence and a safe and supportive environment for recovery. Most will require that you work and attend AA meetings during your period of residency.

The unfortunate reality is that although a great many facilities do exist, they can be very tough to find. Thankfully though, there are options, and you just need to find them.

You can get better!

Dietary Supplements – Why Yours Should Always Be NSF Certified

Dietary supplements include any products taken by mouth that contain a “dietary ingredient” intended to supplement the diet. This would include vitamins, minerals, herbs, botanicals, amino acids and concentrates, metabolites, constituents, and extracts of these substances. Dietary supplements are not classified or considered to be drugs so it may seem that getting them from any source would be acceptable. But that would be a dangerous assumption.

By law, manufacturers are responsible for ensuring their supplements are safe before they are marketed. But unlike drug products, dietary supplements are not reviewed by the government before being made available to the consumer.

Federal laws require the labels on dietary supplement products to contain the following information: Statement of identity, Net quantity of contents, Directions for use, Supplement Facts Panel, listing serving size, amount, and active ingredient, other ingredients in descending order of predominance and Manufacturer information such as their name, place of business and the packer or distributor.

It is important to consult with your health care professional prior to using supplements as some supplements can interact with over-the-counter or prescription medications or have unwanted effects during surgery, while others may contain active ingredients that can cause adverse reactions in some users.

NSF International is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization. They are the world leader in standards development, product certification, education, and risk-management for public health and safety. For 65 years, NSF has been committed to public health, safety, and protection of the environment.

While focusing on food, water, indoor air, and the environment, NSF develops national standards, provides learning opportunities, and provides third-party conformity assessment services while representing the interests of all stakeholders.

The primary stakeholder groups include industry, the regulatory community, and the public at large. They are trademarked as The Public Health and Safety Company and they have earned the Collaborating Center designations by the World Health Organization (WHO) for Food and Water Safety and Indoor Environment.

NSF was founded in 1994 and they serve manufacturers operating in 80 countries, with headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The NSF Mark is recognized for its value in international trade around the world and is respected by regulatory agencies at the local, state, and federal levels.

As part of its mission as a public health and safety resource, the NSF Consumer Affairs Office has developed a Dietary Supplement Fact Kit for the media and consumers. This consumer-friendly resource includes a wide array of useful information on how to choose dietary supplements, as well as how to read dietary supplement labels, and answers to other frequently asked questions about these products.

Do yourself a favor and make sure that your supplements are from a reputable source and carry the appropriate certifications.

5 Day Mayo Diet – Lose 10 Pounds in 5 Days

Let me tell you right from the start that the 5 Day Mayo Diet is not a weight loss plan based on eating only mayonnaise for five days straight!

In fact, there is no mayonnaise in this diet at all. It’s called the Mayo Diet because it was supposedly created at a health institution with the name “Mayo” in it. That makes sense because a diet based on eating mayonnaise would definitely not work very well!

So what is this diet all about then? Well this diet is actually a variation on those popular grapefruit diets.

Meals per day: three meals.

Duration of the diet: five days.

Diet type: low carbohydrate.

What You Can Eat:

Grapefruits, meats, eggs, non-starchy vegetables, nuts, cheese, and tomatoes.

What You Can Not Eat:

Grains (rice, bread, pasta), starchy vegetables (peas, potatoes), fruits (grapefruits are an exception of course).

5 Day Diet Menu

Sample Breakfast

1 grapefruit

2 whole eggs

2 breakfast sausages

Herbal tea

Sample Lunch

1 grapefruit

1 serving of meat (any kind you prefer)

1 bowl mixed greens salad

Sample Dinner

1 grapefruit

1 serving of meat (any kind you prefer)

1 cup steamed vegetables

Herbal tea

My Review

So will this diet work wonders for you? Well let’s be realistic here, it’s only five days long. Do you really believe you will lose all the weight you need to in only five days?

Even if you lose ten pounds in five days, do you think you will keep it off once you return to your normal lifestyle diet? I think you know the answer to that one based on your past dieting experiences.

If you need to lose weight for an event in five days from now (like a wedding), you might want to give this diet a shot. Just be prepared to gain back all the weight within a few days.

On the other hand, if you want to lose weight… and actually keep it off for good… you should definitely pass on the 5 Day Mayo Diet.

List of Autoimmune Diseases, Could You Have One?

Definition – “Autoimmune diseases are illnesses and conditions that result from an overactive immune response to substances, tissues, and organs, normally present in the body. The immune system attacks its own cells due to the system mistaking part of the body as a pathogen.”

The list of autoimmune diseases, more than 100 of them to date, reads like an encyclopedia of modern illnesses. By far, the largest category of diseases under study by scientists, medical professionals and organizations (like the Center for Disease Control – CDC, and the National Institute of Health – NIH), specific autoimmune diseases are named, based upon the organ or tissue being attacked by the body’s natural defenses.

Included in the list of autoimmune diseases, “autoimmune inner ear disease,” also known as Meniers Disease, antibodies/immune cells attack the inner ear leading to hearing loss and vertigo. In “autoimmune multiple sclerosis,” the immune system attacks the protective coating, myelin, around the nerves affecting the brain and spinal cord and causing muscle weakness, loss of coordination, and vision and speech difficulties.

“Autoimmune fibromyalgia” is probably the most widely known of the list of autoimmune diseases, in which muscle and tendon tissues are under attack by the immune system. This gives rise to a variety of symptoms including body tenderness, painful trigger points, extreme fatigue and a variety of other conditions which include insomnia, anxiety, headaches, hypersensitivity to sounds, lights, temperature, etc.

The treatment of different autoimmune diseases varies, but steroids, anti-inflamatory drugs, and immunosuppressant’s, are widely used to treat the list of autoimmune diseases. New treatments and medications are being developed all the time. If you have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, working one-on-one with a specialist in the treatment of your disease, and self-education about your specific illness, will help you to cope.

The self-education part of managing your disease is vital to your ability to overcome the symptoms. Many foods are catalysts in the list of autoimmune diseases…. meaning, they trigger an autoimmune response in the body. Avoiding allergens and autoimmune triggers requires some research and record-keeping on your part, although your doctor may be able to give you a list of foods and medications to avoid.

In the case of these chronic autoimmune illnesses, inflammation of the body’s tissues is caused at lease in part, by the lack of proper blood flow to the affected tissues. This makes it easier for the immune system to attack those tissues because they’re already weakened. The entire list of autoimmune diseases and their symptoms can be treated naturally and effectively by improvements to your overall health. In some cases, like autoimmune fibromyalgia and autoimmune chronic fatigue syndrome, nutritional benefits can include symptom control. Improving your diet by including a good source of protein, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants is one way you can manage your disease and your life. Penis Health: 8 Foods to Eat

A man’s diet can impact all aspects of his health, and sexual health is no exception. In the areas of promoting ample blood flow to facilitate strong erections, maintaining a healthy sex drive and taking care of penile skin, diet is highly relevant. Knowing what foods to eat for maximum penis health is, then, something worth pursuing.

Men should note that, though many websites and videos claim that certain foods or supplements can make the penis bigger, this is not so. So, while men should keep their expectations realistic, they should know that there are many potential benefits of getting those same nutrients in the area of health, if not size.

Incorporate the following foods into one’s regimen for healthy sexual function:

1) Bananas: This phallic fruit packs in potassium, a nutrient that promotes heart health and therefore good circulation. An influx of blood to the penis is what creates erections, so keeping the blood flowing supports erectile function. Bananas are easy to work into one’s day – have one as a quick snack, slice one up into yogurt or cereal, blend one into a smoothie, etc.

2) Watermelon: This juicy fruit contains citrulline, which can boost functioning of smooth muscle. Smooth muscle in the penis plays a primary role in erections.

3) Salmon: Salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are good for the body in a number of ways, including nerve function. Maintaining sensitive and responsive penile nerves throughout life is important for sexual function and enjoyment. Omega-3s also promote good circulation.

4) Avocado: This fruit is full of folate, which promotes healthy sperm. It also contains good fats, which help maintain healthy cholesterol levels and, therefore, good circulation.

5) Dark Chocolate: The flavonoids in this rich treat are great for circulation. It also contains plenty of antioxidants, which work to repair cell damage and protect cells from further damage.

6) Oysters: These sexy sea creatures facilitate the release of dopamine, one of the body’s feel-good chemicals. They also contain lots of zinc, which is important for maintaining testosterone levels. That hormone is crucial for a healthy sex drive and erectile ability.

7) Chili Peppers: Chilies are loaded with vitamin C, which both promotes healthy circulation and boosts collagen production in the body. Collagen helps keep skin tissue firm and youthful – something no man wouldn’t want for his penis.

8) Eggs: Eggs are a good source of B vitamins, which are important for healthy testosterone levels.

Proper diet is imperative not only to the health of the penis, but that of the heart, liver, pancreas and other vital organs. Eating well plays a primary role in the prevention of heart disease, diabetes, certain cancers and other health conditions that can both shorten life span and significantly reduce the quality thereof.

Along with eating well, men should not underestimate the importance of getting plenty of exercise. Cardiovascular exercise, while most obviously benefitting the heart and lungs, also benefits the penis, which relies on an ample supply of oxygen and blood for erectile ability.

A healthy diet isn’t the only way for men to acquire penis-friendly nutrients. Men can apply them directly to the manhood skin with a quality penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil). A crème with vitamin E will help moisturize the skin, which may be prone to chafing and dryness from the various frictions of daily life. Vitamin C can rejuvenate the skin, since it promotes collagen production. Also look for acetyl L-carnitine; this ingredient may protect penile nerves, keeping them responsive. This is important, since years of rough handling can lead to reduced sensitivity. In conjunction with a healthy lifestyle, a penis health crème can ensure prolonged penile function and attractiveness.

Asthma in Cats Symptoms, Causes, and Treatment

What is Asthma in Cats

Asthma in Cats – much like human asthma is really a chronic inflammation of the small passageways of a cat’s lungs. Whenever an asthma attack happens, these types of passageways coagulate and tighten, rendering it very hard for your cat to breathe. This frequently results in asthmatic distress, that can turn out to be serious within a matter of minutes. Your cat’s lungs might also start to release mucus in the air passages, bringing about fits of wheezing as well as coughing. A few cats having more gentle circumstances merely feel a small, persistent cough. Since asthma can easily turn into a fatal health condition, any kind of hacking and coughing cat must have a vet examination.

Symptoms of Asthma in Cats

· Coughing and wheezing

· Persistent cough

· Squatting with shoulders hunched, neck extended as well as rapid breathing or gasping for breath

· Gagging up foamy mucus

· Open mouth breathing

· Blue lips and gums

· Labored breath after exercise

· General weakness and lethargy

The Cause of Asthma in Cats

Though there are numerous components which lead to asthma in cats, it is considered to produce due to allergic bronchitis. Allergic bronchitis takes place when the air passage within a cat’s lungs turn swollen because of an inhaled allergen or some other element that induces the immune system.

Frequent components that may add to the intensity of the asthma attack can include:

· Allergens, such as pollens, molds, dust from cat litter, cigarette smoke, perfume as well as particular foods

· Pre-existing heart problems or illnesses

· Parasites

· Extreme stress

· Obesity

Asthma-like conditions in cats can be related to various other disease, like heartworm, respiratory parasites, tumors, heart failure and pneumonia.

Do Allergies affect Asthma in Cats

Cat Allergies The Sensitivity to external air-borne pollutants and pollen can play a role in asthma in certain cats.

Cats More Susceptible to Asthma

Asthma in cats generally builds up between age of 2 and 8 years of age, having a greater likelihood in female cats than males. Siamese and Himalayan breeds as well as mixed breeds often have asthma more often than other breeds.

My Cat Has Asthma What do I do

Pay a visit to your vet right away if you believe your cat has got asthma. The Vet will then carry out a physical check-up and probably suggest diagnostic assessments to discover the cause of the condition.

How does Asthma in Cats get Diagnosed

Given that signs of asthma may be much like the ones from other diseases like heartworm, pneumonia and congestive heart failure, it is vital for your vet to identify the reason for his attacks. No specific test can confirm asthma, however radiographs, blood work, analysis of bronchial secretions as well as parasite tests might be performed to exclude additional factors.

Treatment for Asthma in Cats

Though there’s no genuine cure for asthma, there are a variety of techniques for effectively handling it. Efficient therapy can include medicines which will clear breathing passages and lessen airway inflammation or adjust the body’s immune response. Similar to human asthma, medicine is occasionally given via an exclusively adapted inhaler.

Prevent Asthma Attacks in my Cat

· Have your cat analyzed regularly for internal parasites.

· Reduce stress within your cat’s environment, since it has a tendency to intensify allergy and asthma symptoms.

· NO perfumes, room fresheners, carpet deodorizers, hairspray, aerosol cleaners, etc., around your cat.

· Avoid cat litters that generate a lot of dust, scented litters or litter additives.

· Dry air motivates asthma attacks, so hold an effective humidifier going particularly throughout the winter months.

· Hold your cat’s weight down and her body active!

· NOTE, no cat should be exposed to cigarette smoke however should your cat have asthma, cigarette smoke is a complete no-no.

How Auto Repair Diagnostic Sheets Can Help Speed Up Your Auto Repair

Believe it or not, an auto repair diagnostic sheet can be one of the most important tools your auto mechanic has in his toolbox. Why? Well, a good auto repair diagnostic sheet is designed to provide information that can be used by your auto technician to quickly gather relevant information from industry internet data bases. Checking these databases is important because it can save your mechanic a lot of time, resulting in a speedier, less costly diagnosis. Additionally, the information can serve as a supplement to the computer diagnostic info.

At our auto repair facility, we use six different diagnostic sheets. That’s because the technician will need different types of information depending on the nature of the problem. Having fewer questions to answer makes it a lot easier to get to the most important information quickly.

If you are unsure as to which category your problem fits into, just take a look at the questions on the sheet, and see if they ask about the type of problem you are experiencing. All of the sheets separate the questions into two categories: 1)This is the problem and 2) It occurs as follows. This way you end up providing information to help explain not only the type of problem, but under what conditions it is occurring.

The six diagnostic sheets we use are:

  • Noise, Vibration and Harshness – This is an easy category for customers to identify, because most of us know when a car is shaking or making some type of noise that’s out of the ordinary. Rather than just telling your auto mechanic that the car is making a noise, the form helps to further specify the type of noise, (e.g. rattling or squeaking) and when you hear it. For example, you may only hear the noise when the car is going at a certain speed or when the air conditioner is on.
  • Heating and Air Conditioning System – Again, although it may be easy to identify when you are having a problem with the heat or the air conditioning, you may be less likely to pay attention to some of the details of the problem. This diagnostic forms helps guide you through the problem by asking questions about airflow, area of the car where the problem is occurring, whether or not you are getting any cooling effect and other similar items that will help your auto mechanic get to the root of the problem.
  • Drivability – This is the form to choose when you are having concerns about whether the engine is idling high or low, stalling, hesitating, or skipping.
  • Electrical – This diagnostic sheet includes things you may not expect like whether or not the car has recently been in an accident, or whether you had a battery, fuses or accessories replaced. This type of information can help a technician get to the cause of an electrical problem.
  • Cooling and Overheating – This sheet helps diagnose problems related to engine performance versus the heating or cooling of the passenger compartment. Here you will want to take note of things like whether or not the check engine light comes on, what speeds or outside temperature the problem occurs at, whether there is steam coming from under the hood, whether the AC or heater were off – things like that.
  • Automatic Transmission – Lastly, this diagnostic sheet is geared at understanding what types of problems you are experiencing when upshifting or downshifting. It asks you to provide information like mileage when the problem occurred, frequency of the problem, and driving conditions when the problem occurred.

In addition to providing your auto repair shop with a diagnostic form, it’s important not to jump to conclusions about what’s causing the problem. You’ll want to avoid giving the shop a list of potential problems you found on the internet or a list provided from a friend. It’s true that your actual problem might be on that list – but which one? This places the auto shop in the awkward position of having to address everything on your list in order to avoid you saying “I told you so.” This can lead to the shop spending more time on diagnosis — exactly the opposite of what you were aiming for by completing a diagnostic sheet. That’s why it’s best to use diagnostic forms to clearly communicate the observed problem and to build a working partnership with your auto service provider.

Are Compounding Pharmacies Safe?

Compounding pharmacies work to create pharmaceutical products which are specifically designed to fit the unique needs of each patient. They specialise in preparing and dispensing bespoke pharmaceutical products to patients who cannot or do not want to (for whatever reason) take standard, mass produced medication. Many consumers are turning to these pharmacies because they have previously had problems with standard prescription drugs.

Because the compounded prescription medications that they sell are different from those that are already available on the rest of the market, some consumers may be worried about whether or not using a compounding pharmacy is safe. However, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have stated that compounding is perfectly legal and ethical so long as the pharmacy is fully licensed and the pharmacist who carried out the compounding is also fully trained and licensed.

Because of the potential health implications associated with all medicinal drugs, compounding pharmaceuticals is a heavily regulated business, and the FDA and individual state boards of pharmacy have introduced strict guidelines to help ensure that customers and patients using these compounding pharmacies should remain safe. All bulk drug substances that are used in these types of pharmacies should be on an approved-list of substances that it is legal and safe to compound with. Any previously marketed substances which have been proven to be ineffective or unsafe do not make the approved-list of substances suitable for compounding. Pharmacists are not supposed to compound with any substance that is not on the approved-list. Although many states do not require practices to report any newly discovered side-effects associated with compounded drugs, ethical pharmacies will voluntarily report them.

The compounding pharmacy itself is also subject to strict guidelines, as well as the substances that they compound with. The pharmacy must meet high quality control standards and each individual laboratory must meet strict facility guidelines, to ensure safety and consistency in each batch of drugs produced. Pharmacies in America are regulated by individual “state boards of pharmacy”, and therefore each state has slightly different sets of regulations. It is possible to check with the board of pharmacy in your state if you are still unsure. Inspectors from the state board will carry out regular checks on licensed pharmacies and random sampling checks may be carried out on batches of drugs that are being dispensed to check the safety and potency.

Pharmacists who practice in compounding pharmacies are heavily regulated as well. They must be fully trained and licensed in order to dispense medicine that they have compounded, so that they are able to fully understand the drugs that they are making.

If you still have doubts, you can contact your chosen pharmacy and they will be able to explain the standards, testing and quality control exercises that are used by their practice in order to ensure the safety of their customers. If you are in any doubt, you do not have to use that pharmacy. Remember that it is the interest of pharmacies to ensure that their products are safe, legal, ethical and effective.

Drugs – An Ugly and Temporary Escape From Reality

People that use drugs to cope with life do so because of what the drugs do to them. Most drug addicts have experienced pain from something that has happened to them in the past and the drugs, for a short time, have made that pain go away. Once they realize that the drugs do in fact make them feel better is when the abuse begins to happen.

Most drugs do a great job of taking reality out of the minds of the user. They feel free once the drugs begin to kick in. They don’t care about the past or anything of that pain that has haunted them and they feel invincible living in the moment. The only problem is that each time the addict does the drug, he or she needs to do even more of it to get to the same feeling.

What drug abusers don’t understand is that the drugs don’t take away from the problem, they only add to it. The reality of life never goes away it is just masked and distorted due to the effect that the drugs have. In order to overcome this life full of pain and hurt is not to go to drugs for relief, but to deal with life head on. And this is what the drug rehab places do so well.

Drug rehab centers are there to help the addict overcome their physical addiction to the drug or drugs. They then confine in the individual to learn that the drugs are in fact not their best escape but just a temporary release that compounds their own situation for the worst. True relief from the pain that haunts them is to see the past for what it really is, something that happened before and is now out of everyone’s control. Once they realize that they can’t change something that has happened, they can then learn to live life from this point on.

The drug rehab centers goal is to educate the addict about their illness so they can understand how to control their mind and eventually learn to live a productive life. They hope to instill in them a confidence that any goal they set to achieve can be accomplished no matter what their situation was or where they came from.

Drugs are in ugly escape from reality that gives the user an invincible feeling for a short amount of time. Drug addicts too can change but first have to become knowledgeable about their situation and then want to make the change.

Six Common Causes of Swollen Fingers

I vividly remember the day my father had to have his wedding ring cut from his finger. I must have been about four, and it was a fascinating and frightening process. The cause? Weight gain in this instance, but it that isn’t the only condition that can cause the problem.

Arthritis: All forms of arthritis can cause swelling in the fingers, though rheumatoid and osteoarthritis are more likely. Pain relievers and anti-inflammatory medications can be helpful. Topical relief may come from capsaicin, which can turn off the pain signal to your brain. An extraction of willow bark and gotu kola may also help, though avoid willow if you are allergic to aspirin or have gout.

Carpal Tunnel: While this is predominantly a wrist issue, this condition can cause inflammation and pain in the fingers. If it is caught early enough, it may be possible to avoid surgery. The same treatment as for arthritis may be recommended, along with resting the hands and ice. A brace could come in handy, also.

Infection: This can be caused by a wound, but that’s not the only way an infection could develop on your fingers. Nail biting has been known to cause serious infections and could get bad enough to require amputation. You’ll probably receive antibiotics from the doctor, and anti-inflammatory medications or herbs may be useful. Willow is a good choice, but can’t be used by children under eighteen. Garlic supplements and drawing agents like baking soda could be beneficial as well.

Injury: Breaks, cuts and sprains can all cause problems in the fingers. RICE is one of the things your doctor may suggest to help here. That stands for rest, ice, compression and elevation. Pain medications can be useful here, but be careful with topical treatments on cuts. Some of them can cause more pain than they solve.

Pregnancy: Lots of things can swell up during pregnancy, including your fingers. It may be a good idea to mention this to your doctor as it could be a sign of pre-eclampsia or toxemia. This situation requires immediate medical intervention.

Weight Gain: As mentioned above, this can make your fingers bigger, though not necessarily swollen. If you’re overweight, inflammation is more likely. In this instance, it’s a good idea to keep your rings in mind. Many people rarely or never remove their wedding rings after the ceremony. If enough weight it gained, this can be a real problem and potentially damage your ring finger. If you notice weight gain, check the ring on a daily basis to make sure you can safely remove it for resizing.

As you can see, finding out what is causing inflammation can be crucial. When you have a diagnosis, be sure to talk to your doctor about any herbal supplements you want to use in treating it. The doctor can tell you if there are any harmful interactions.

Vitamins – What Do Doctors Say?

Everyone seems to know you should take a daily multi-vitamin, and many people add lots of other vitamins too, but what do doctors and the medical establishment say? The answer may surprise you!

Until the 1980s most doctors thought vitamins didn’t do any good, and that they simply came out in your urine, not benefiting your body or health at all. Over time though, many have changed their opinions and have started taking them themselves. For example, my father, a retired doctor, has started taking multi-vitamins the last few years like many of his peers.

Antioxidant vitamins like vitamin E and beta carotene were all the rage a decade ago, but the medical establishment has changed their tune after the results of some negative and conflicting reports. But what about a simple multi-vitamin? There are several reasons to take a daily multivitamin.

Vitamin D is hard to come by in diet and needed to absorb calcium in your diet. People who get little sunlight, often because of skin cancer concerns, may have a vitamin D deficiency.

Vitamins B6, B12 and folic acid, another B vitamin, are also important. In particular, vitamin B12 is not present in vegetables so vegetarians may be deficient.

Much of the medical establishment recommends a daily multi-vitamin these days. Harvard Men’s Health Watch for example, suggests an inexpensive preparation with 100% of the daily recommended value of vitamins D, B6, B12 and folic acid, and that makes sense to us too. Most medical practitioners suggest that expensive high potency, designer, or all-natural vitamins are unnecessary, just a basic multi-vitamin as described above.

How Sea Salt Helps Depression

Did you know that you can cure depression naturally by making sea salt a part of your daily diet. Studies have shown that sea salt can help to relieve the symptoms of depression naturally by adding salt to your drinking water. For every quart of water, add about 1/4 tsp. of unrefined sea salt to reduce your symptoms.

Depression can be the result of various different factors such as the loss of a loved one, physical pain, prolonged stress or a poor diet. Depression may be temporary, but for some it is ongoing, and therefore the patients often resort to medical help.

Patients are often prescribed lithium to help alleviate the depressed mind. However, lithium has many side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, drowsiness, unable to coordinate, eye pain, blurred vision, weight gain and weakness.

How Does Sea Salt Help

Sea salt has been shown to be an effective substitute for lithium, as it is able to relieve the symptoms of depression, but without any side effects.

It naturally helps to maintain the levels of serotonin and melatonin levels in the body. Serotonin essentially helps you to remain calm, thus it is effective in reducing stress, anxiety and depression. Melatonin is essential in helping you to fall into a deep sleep at night, which is also essential in helping your emotions to remain strong.

What is Sea Salt

Sea salt is obtained naturally by evaporating sea water. The water evaporates and the salt and all the minerals remain behind and are raked into layers. The more minerals that are contained in the salt, the more color the salt will have. The colors can range from pink, gray and a sandy color, depending on where it was harvested.

The natural salt does not contain any additional or artificial ingredients. It usually is not free running, and in some cases it may even be moist.

Depending on the brand of salt, it can contain all the essential trace minerals which your body needs for optimum health. The salt will not raise your blood pressure, but rather it can help to stabilize it. There are also many other health benefits of natural salt; it is good for the heart, the muscles, kidneys, and can help to protect you against cancer and diabetes.

Why Sea Salt?

You could use regular table salt, but then you will need to balance that with magnesium and potassium, as all the minerals have been stripped out of regular table salt. But natural sea salt contains both of these minerals which helps to bring it into balance.

Hypnosis Can Cure Anxiety

You have probably been told that anxiety hypnosis is a great way to treat anxiety disorders. What many people don’t know is that there are numerous types of anxiety disorders. These disorders can be mild to very extreme. Listed below are some of the different types of anxiety disorders that can be helped with hypnosis.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) – this is defined by a constant worry about everyday/ordinary things. People might become overly troubled by money, health, family, work or other issues. AT times, just the thought of getting through the day produces some anxiety. Although the person knows that the worrying is pointless, it is hard to stop.

Phobias – Things like new places, heights, elevators, certain animals, are all things that may make people feel a bit uneasy or frightened. But people with these specific phobias feel overly frightened and powerless to control their fear, even if it doesn’t make any sense.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) – This is an unbearable condition that occurs in people who have experienced or witnessed a natural disaster, serious accident, terrorist incident, sudden death of a loved one, war, violent personal assault, or any other life threatening event. Most times people who experience these things will recover from them, but people with PTSD will be depressed and anxious for months or years to follow.

Social Anxiety Disorder – This is the fear of being analyzed and judged by others in a social or performance type setting. People with this disorder may feel very alone. The anxiety can interfere significantly with daily routines, occupational performance or social life which makes it difficult to complete school, jobs or even have friendships or romantic relationships.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) – People with this disorder suffer from unwanted and intrusive thoughts that they can’t seem to get out of their heads. This often causes them to feel compelled to perform ritualistic behaviors and routines repeatedly. Most people with OCD are aware that their compulsions are irrational, yet feel powerless to stop them.

Panic Disorder/Attack – This is a category of people who experience spontaneous, out of the blue panic attacks and are preoccupied with the fear of a recurring attack.
