10 Home Remedies for Gout Pain

The best home remedies for gout are the old fashioned methods that

grandparents used. To relieve gout pain and suffering, the “old timers”

Herpes Simplex – A Simple Solution

Cold Sores or Herpes Simplex generate symptoms that are both unsightly and which afflicts a significant part of the world’s population. How You Perform Exercises to Get Taller

You may not realize that you can grow taller by performing certain exercises. Taller height is a goal you can achieve through exercise. You’ll discover what exercises you can perform to grow. Plus you’ll learn how they help you grow taller.

The first and best types of exercises for growing taller are hanging exercises. These are exercises performed with a horizontal bar. The benefit of hanging is it reverses the compression of your bones and spine caused by gravity. Hanging causes your skeleton to extend, creating tiny fractures at the end of your bones. This is similar to how resistance training creates tears in the muscle fibers. Your body will repair the damage by filling the gaps, adding new bone mass and lengthening your bones. In addition, the cartilage material within your spine will stretch, repair and grow.

You will want to be able to hang freely, so select a bar high enough that you completely relax and hang off the ground. You may bend at your knees if the bar is not high enough. You should grasp the bar in an overhand grip, with your arms directly overhead at shoulder width. You will want to hang as long as you can, at least twenty seconds. Repeat the hanging exercise three times.

Pull ups are an exercise you can perform while hanging. Pulls up are great for your back, neck, shoulders and biceps. But, you also perform them while handing from a horizontal bar. Why not combine hanging with pull ups and get the benefits of both? High intensity exercises like resistance training have been shown in medical studies to increase levels of Human Growth Hormone. HGH is a hormone your body uses to induce growth. Exercise induced HGH is released into your bloodstream as a result of lactic acid and nitric oxide. Both of these are produced when resistance training. Therefore the pull up becomes the best exercise, taller by both hanging and resistance training.

Your may perform the exercise with an over or under hand grip. However, the under hand grip places more load on the arms and biceps, so you’ll probably want to do over hand. The width of your grip may vary, and it’s a good idea to change your grip periodically. You slowly pull yourself up to the bar. You may bring you hear in front of the bar leaning your head forward until you touch the bar with the back of your neck. Alternatively, a chin up involves bringing your head up behind the bar to a point where you chin is above the bar. Slowly return to the hanging position and repeat as many times as possible.

You must maintain at least 10 minutes of great intensity exercise in order to build enough lactic acid in your muscles to activate the release of human growth hormone. Lactic acid is the substance that causes muscle soreness, so you can use that as an indicator. You will probably need to additional exercises to pull ups to achieve 10 minutes of exercise.

Another exercise that can be performed while hanging is knee ups. While hanging, you breathe out and pull your knees up to your chest. Then you inhale and lower your legs. This exercise works the abdominal muscles, but also stretches the bottom portion of your spine.

Finally, you can perform stretching exercises to lengthen the spine. The hamstring muscle in the back of the leg will pull on the spine if it is tight, likely increasing the curvature of the spine. Loosening the hamstrings can improve your posture and reduce spinal curvature. You can stretch the hamstring by performing exercises like touching your toes or hurdler stretches.

A hurdler stretch is performed in a seated position. Straighten one leg, and bend the other placing the foot on alongside the knee of the straight leg. With both hands, lean forward to grasp the toes of the straight leg. Reverse your leg positions and repeat the exercise.

People of yesteryear came literally to love the soil. They sat on the ground with the feeling of being close to a mothering power. It was good for the skin to touch the Earth, and the old people liked to remove their moccasins and walk with their bare feet on the sacred Earth. The soil was soothing, strengthening, cleansing, and healing.

Throughout evolution, humans walked barefoot and slept on the ground and received from the Earth a natural, nurturing, and gentle electric energy. You may have felt this while walking barefoot on a sandy beach – a sense of well-being. That sensation is the ground’s electric energy rising up into your body, the result of the skin of your conductive body making contact with the “skin” of the conductive Earth.

Our modern lifestyle has increasingly separated humans from this flow of subtle omnipresent surface energy. Today we wear insulative rubber or plastic-soled shoes that block the flow unlike in the 1960s when we all wore leather-soled shoes. In other words, we lose the good negative electrons when we wear rubber soled shoes. Our ancestors and those people living in third world countries were/are grounded – they wore/wear no shoes and they ate raw food. The good thing is our body stores electrons (from the soil) and will deliver electrons from damage. Research now indicates it’s our Telomeres (at the bottom of our DNA) shortening that creates ageing.

Dr. Gerald Pollock states that Grounding/Earthing ourselves structures the water in our body so there’s a negative transfer of electrons in the cell membrane. This is why maintaining good hydration is so important, for when we are dehydrated we are electron deficient. Water rids a headache, not a painkiller. The supplement CoQ10 is an electron donor. When flying in an aircraft it’s a good idea to remove your shoes and socks and put your feet on the seat struts – this will ground you.

Research is now revealing that this energy creates a distinct and uplifting shift in our physiology. It promotes health, vitality, and better sleep; harmonises and stabilises the body’s basic biological rhythms; knocks down (and even knocks out) chronic inflammation; and reduces/eliminates pain. The disconnection from this natural resource right under our feet may likely be a totally overlooked – and major- factor behind the alarming rise of chronic disease in recent decades, and inflammatory-related conditions in particular.

These revelations are the central themes of a new book “Earthing”. Studies were done over many years by Stephen Sinatra, MD, the well-known integrative cardiologist, and Clint Ober, an amazing individual who discovered the health benefits of reconnecting to the Earth.

Darkfield microscope images of blood taken from three individuals in attendance at Dr. Sinatra house just before and after forty minutes of Earthing showed the before and after images. Pictures clearly show a dramatic thinning and decoupling (no aggregation) of blood cells.

Low LDL cholesterol thickens the blood and this is why raising one’s HDL is important because it thins the blood. We need both types of cholesterol in our body (although doctors may say otherwise) for brain function, healthy prostate, etc.

Dr. Sinatra, was skeptical about Earthing at first. He now describes this discovery as the most exciting health breakthrough that he has encountered in his 30-plus years in medicine. It’s a profoundly simple, practical, effective, and cost-cutting way to combat common illnesses and pain problems, and make people healthier. In the field of cardiology, Sinatra says it has great promise for improving arrhythmias, lowering blood pressure, blood viscosity (Earthing thins the blood by improving its zeta potential i.e. it improves the energy between your red blood cells), flow, and energy production of heart cells. And Earthing increases zeta potential by an average of 280%; an incredible discovery states Dr. Sinatra because if we can increase thinning of the blood naturally by Grounding, you can fight off disease. (i.e. any illness that requires good oxygenation to tissues).

It takes around 80 minutes for the free electrons of Earth to reach your blood stream and transform your blood. High blood pressure is thick blood so Earthing/Grounding is of great benefit for the brain. A high sugar diet, smoking, radio frequencies, other toxic electromagnetic forces, emotional stress, anxiety and high uric acid make your blood hyper-coagulable (i.e. thicker and slower moving ) with increased risk of having blood clots or stroke. So when blood doesn’t flow well, oxygen can’t get to the tissues. So one can see how beneficial it is to be Earthed if you have suffered a stroke, have alzheimer’s or other neurological issue.

If children are disconnected from the Earth it disrupts human sugar metabolism, and this may be the cause of a dramatic rise in diabetes in children. Those kids get no exercise, have lots of sugar (soft drinks, bread, pasta, noodles, etc.) and we’ve taken away the ground (many live in high-rise apartments).

Ground yourself on the Earth when doing yoga or your exercises/squats, sprinting, etc. as this delays the onset of muscular soreness (caused by inflammation). Being Earthed allows abundant free electrons to enter the body, which is electrically conductive. Earthing, which enhances ATP (like good nutrition), was found to be the best method to relieve pain in a controlled study. Whenever we provide electrons to make ATP (energy) it allows ATP to not only rejuvenate cells, but revive and repair cells with the raw materials. However fructose (lots in fruit) and high fructose corn syrup (in commercial foods) annihilates ATP.

Lift your heals and near your big toe is acupuncture point K1 – this is most beneficial for receiving free electrons. Dr. Sinatra stated tradesmen would be wise to remove their boots for the first 30 minutes of the day and they would not get pain in their bodies. Concrete is a good conductor but not gravel. The best is bare feet in the sea water, on wet sand, or the dew on the grass of a morning as they push the electrons up the body.

Earthing refers to the discovery of significant health benefits resulting from contact with the Earth’s natural surface electric energy. Contact is as simple as walking barefoot outside, or sitting, working, or sleeping indoors on an earthing sheet which incorporates carbon or silver threads to conduct the Earth’s energy. This allows you to sleep “Earthed” in your bed. Floor or desk and keyboard pads allow you to work or relax grounded (thus preventing carpel tunnel or tendonitis in the wrists); and Velcro body bands and standard medical EKG patches, with a Grounding connection, applied to body parts are used to address local pain and inflammation. If you have knee pain, simply kneel on the grass for 30 minutes.

The wires around our bed, in the wall behind our bed, even if the bed lamp is turned off, is irradiating us with electricity and electric blankets electrify you. There is a rotating magnetic field in the refrigerator which is not healthy for our body. So just as we need Grounding so do our indoor pets. Ensure you are at least five feet away from cooking in a microwave oven and don’t let the children watch it.

Thousands of people – adults and children – have benefited from these Earthing devices. Victorious American-sponsored cycling teams at recent Tour de France competitions used Earthing “sleeping bags” to recover dramatically faster than normal from injuries and grueling competition.

We are a collection of dynamic electrical circuits. In our complex bodies, trillions of cells constantly transmit and receive energy in the course of their programmed biochemical reactions. The movement of nutrients and water into the cells is regulated by electric fields, and each type of cell has a frequency range in which it operates. Your heart, brain, nervous system, muscles, and immune system are prime examples of electrical subsystems operating within your “bioelectrical” body.

If you sustain a light injury your immune system sends white blood cells (neutrophils) to the site. We now understand inflammation markers as: 1) pain 2) redness 3) heat 4) loss of range and motion 5) swelling.

Earthing research demonstrates that connection to the Earth initiates an immediate electrophysiological shift inside your body indicative of improved blood, nervous system, immune system, and muscular function.

When we’re connected to the Earth, the body receives an electric signal that normalises and stabilises its many biological systems. This signal also appears to be the source of negatively charged free electrons, present in unlimited quantity on the surface of the Earth. The hypothesis put forward by scientists involved in Earthing research is that the transfer of electrons into the body quenches/neutralises positively charged, electron-seeking free radicals that drive chronic inflammation activity at the core of many common diseases. So it appears that the mightiest anti-inflammatory on the planet may be the very planet itself!

Just as sunlight provides us with vitamin D, the Earth provides us with another essential ingredient. It may be regarded as an overlooked factor in disease causation – a missing link. Gary Schwartz, PhD, a professor of psychology and medicine at the University of Arizona, suggests that “Earthing may be as fundamental as sunlight, air, water, and nutrients.”

Cultures around the world honoured connectedness to the Earth and described the energy of the Earth as Qi (or ATP/energy) in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Prana in Ayurveda (India).

The distinct health benefits of this energy have remained largely unknown. Thanks to the curiosity and persistence of Clint Ober, a pioneer of the cable TV industry, the benefits are now surfacing. At the age of 49, he became deathly ill – the result of an abscess that nearly destroyed his liver. Ober recovered from the ordeal and decided to look for a higher purpose in life.

It occurred to him one day, when observing people’s footwear, that almost everyone was insulated from the electrical surface charge of the Earth. Knowing the body is conductive, i.e. it conducts electricity, he performed a simple experiment on himself. He rigged up a crude conductive grid to fit on his bed. He took an alligator clip and attached it to the grid, connected a wire to it, ran the wire out the window, and fastened it to a ground rod outside. He then lay down on the grid and measured the voltage on his body. He found that when he was “Grounded,” the EMFs (which are magnetic) on his body had disappeared. The next thing Ober knew, it was morning. He had fallen asleep and slept soundly for the first time in years – and without a pill. This was a big deal for him. He had suffered with constant back pain and disturbed sleep. His friends also had better sleep and less pain.

Ober has inspired and brilliantly organized a dozen studies with scientific experts that have thoroughly validated his initial personal observations of better sleep and reduced pain. They clearly show that Earthing has a powerful influence on the delicate balance between health and illness, with the prospect of longevity and a better life.

One person experienced an immediate cessation of annoying restless leg syndrome. It’s a good idea to sleep Earthed at home and when travelling (preferably with no PJs). Recently introduced is a Blue Shield product which one can use when out of the home, in the car or wherever which is no larger than an iPhone which covers 3m in all directions (it’s recommended not to be used in the bedroom). The annoying need to get up at night to pee, can be substantially abated, to once a night then to nil visits to the bathroom. One lady with asthma found that after she started sleeping Earthed, she rarely used her puffer. Another lady was “absolutely amazed” saying she had not a single flare-up of her fibromyalgia pain.

To quickly experience Earthing for yourself, walk or sit barefoot on the grass, sand, gravel, or unpainted concrete – ground surfaces that conduct energy (wood, asphalt, and plastic do not conduct) for 30 minutes and you should feel calmer and perhaps have less or no pain.

Biophysicist James Oschman, PhD, a leading expert and author on energy medicine, sums up Earthing this way: “The moment your foot touches the Earth, or you connect to the Earth through a wire, your physiology changes. An immediate normalisation begins. And an anti-inflammatory switch is turned on. People stay inflamed because they never connect with the Earth – the source of free electrons which can neutralise the free radicals in the body that cause dis-ease and cellular destruction.”

People with auto-immune (low vitamin D) diseases benefit from Earthing, and those with lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease, are stronger when grounded.

High tension wires are chaotic electrical forces coming from electricity that are causing children to get leukemia, and people working with electrical machinery (motors, etc.) have had much higher rates of stroke and CVD. Small motors like a high dryer, a clock radio put out an electrical field which can travel 12-50 feet. Sleeping on a water bed – that’s electricity.

Clint Ober said this electrical pollution/charge goes into the body – he’s talking 60AC. Cordless phones (RF), mobile phones and microwave ovens are another spectrum which are evil chaotic vibrations that destroy the pineal gland, shuts down melatonin, and also disrupts the internal electrical climate of the body, and these all affect the mitochondria (inside every cell). The mitochondrial DNA, unlike nuclear DNA has no defense mechanism. Also, the mitochondrial DNA don’t have the antioxidants glutathione, SOD, etc. to fortify them. That’s why Dr. Stephen Sinatra gives the fertiliser of Magnesium, Ribose, Carnitive, and CoQ10 which breathes in a defensive mechanism Without mitochondrial support we are very vulnerable. The U.S. processed food diet is a mitochondria killer he says. Our mitochondria needs a little zinc, copper, chromium, definitely CoQ10, alpha lipoic acid, plus vitamins C and E to get inside the mitochondrial membrane.

We live in toxic times emotionally, physically and spiritually and our nervous system has become unbalanced. Clint Ober showed Earthing ourselves calms the sympathetic nervous system showing an improvement in heart rate variability (HRV), so improving the organism.

Alpha blockers used in prostate problems and one for asthma affect HRV so increasing cardiovascular events and the heart is more likely to go out of rhythm. Panic, fear and anxiety also affect HRV. That’s why people have more arrhythmias. Also, blood viscosity is a forgotten risk factor of cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Linus Pauling knew we need vitamin C because when the red blood cells (RBCs) loose vitamin C the velocity of the RBC became less. Pauling knew that when RBCs went down normal functioning did not happen. This can be caused by cigarette smoke that raises fibrinogen that clots the blood. If one, however, carries the gene for hemochromatosis one can’t have high vitamin C because that’s going to enhance the absorption of iron (Fe).

It’s recommended we give blood every 3-4 months because this reduces blood viscosity.

Earthing raises our melatonin because we sleep better. The sicker you are, the more you need to Earth yourself. For high blood pressure it is recommended one gets 12 hours of Earthing. Also, with rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, severe angina and heart problems, ground as much as you can to get the blood moving. To this end walk with bare feet, sleep Earthed and use an Earthing pad with your computer, or watching TV. Go bare feet when you walk the dog.

Adding a pinch of Celtic or Himalayan salt in a glass of water twice a day will conduct the body even better.

Given that 99% of us have thick blood it behooves us to Earth ourselves every 30 minutes.

Who Has Epilepsy?

Although epilepsy can start at any point during a person’s life, most epilepsy is diagnosed in childhood, and most of all in the first year of life – around 140 out of every 100,000 babies under the age of one are diagnosed with epilepsy per year. This drops to 40 adults per 100,000. However, recent reports have shown that epilepsy is increasing in older people, who account for a quarter of all new diagnoses, according to a survey by the National Society for Epilepsy. The condition is twice as common in older people as it is in the population as a whole.

It may be even more common than is documented, because some of it probably goes unrecognized. Diagnosing epilepsy in the elderly can be difficult. In many cases the seizures are mild, and, while this is excellent news in terms of control, it may also mean that it’s not so easy to spot them for what they are. Aunt Alice’s daydreaming, Gran’s ‘funny turns’, may form part of family folklore and certainly not be seen to warrant medical investigation. We tend to expect illness and absent-mindedness in older people as a matter of course. However, epilepsy in later life may well be among the more preventable cases of the condition. The older we get, the more liable we become to decreased fitness and health, but, in particular, epilepsy in the older person is often due to cerebrovascular disease which leads to small scars in the brain. In general, the risk of epilepsy in older people may be reduced with proper attention to lifestyle, including healthy eating, enough exercise, not smoking, and drinking alcohol moderately. Paying attention to lifestyle issues may help people of any age gain better seizure control and improve general health, and may also prevent your epilepsy getting worse in older age.

Epilepsy is divided almost equally between the sexes, though a few epilepsy syndromes occur exclusively in girls. Epilepsy is slightly more common in men, and there are various reasons why this may be so. One reason is that men are more likely to suffer head injury and brain infection. Another theory is that the brains of boy and girl babies develop differently in the womb due to differences in male and female sex hormones. The brain matures more rapidly in girl babies than boy ones, so that girls are less vulnerable to perinatal anoxia (lack of oxygen around birth) which can damage developing areas of the brain. The Y chromosome which produces maleness in unborn babies also slows development down, so that boys are born around two to three weeks behind in maturity than girls, so making them more vulnerable to injury. This vulnerability persists into adulthood – one study showed that, in women, 50 per cent of the risk of developing epilepsy was past by the time they were 19, but in men, this did not happen until they were 24. This risk is thought to outweigh men’s larger brain size. Another study showed that the brains of men and women only become the same size when they are 100, when they have both shrunk enough to be similar! There is some evidence that the prognosis or outlook is slightly worse in women, and it has been suggested that this is because women’s brains are tougher, a more severe event is needed to precipitate the epilepsy. But, in practice, most of these differences are slight – again, each person with epilepsy represents an individual case, and should be treated as such.

Despite its high prevalence, epilepsy, traditionally the ‘Cinderella’ of the health service, attracts little by way of research money – out of the UK’s annual £2 billion medical research budget only £336,000 is spent on epilepsy, less than £1 per person with epilepsy, and comparing unfavorably with say the £250 per person with muscular dystrophy and £140 per person with multiple sclerosis.

A recent survey of health managers in the UK revealed that only 5 per cent had set service standards for epilepsy. However, this may change as epilepsy achieves greater media coverage and public interest, something which is taking place – over the past few years, according to the National Society for Epilepsy, epilepsy has become an ‘interesting’ subject as genetic research and modem brain-scanning methods reveal more about the condition.

Unique Keys – The Primary Cause of Duplication in Databases!

The Data Quality Paradox

The mistaken use of unique keys as the unique identifiers of records is perhaps the greatest paradox of data quality and the primary cause of duplication of entries in any database.

The problem starts when data analysts use codes as the Unique Identifiers (UIDs) of data entities in the data modelling stage of analysis.

Data Modeling 101: Codes are not identifiers!

Many data analysts may have apoplexy at these statements, as it is a practice that they have followed most of their modelling lives, but simple logic can show the practice to be totally flawed.

For something to be a unique identifier it must first of all qualify as an identifier. Codes do not identify! Don’t believe me?

A Simple Test

If I were to take you to the middle of a warehouse with 400 unlabeled parts laid out on the floor and ask you to go and pick up part 14563 you would not be able to proceed. No. Why? Because 14563 does not in any way identify any of the parts. If I say “pick up a motor” then you will be able to make a start. You might need to ask “do you want a hydraulic motor or an electric motor?” But you will be able to identify a motor among the parts.

We see from this that codes are not identifiers. If they are not identifiers then they CANNOT be unique identifiers.

What is a UID?

A unique identifier enables us to answer the question; “what is it, with respect to this enterprise, that makes one occurrence of a data entity uniquely different from every other occurrence of that data entity?” If we know this then we will have the unique identifier for that data entity.

With regard to a finance company that loans money for the purchase of motor vehicles, lets ask the following question. “With regard to this enterprise, what is it that makes one customer uniquely different from another customer?” For the purposes of this example we will stick to customers who are individuals, as opposed to corporate entities.

Straight away, some data analysts will shout out “it’s the customer number!” Wrong!

Example UID Problem

To demonstrate this I could take you to many finance companies and show you the customer data files with records that would look very similar to the following.

Every customer has a different Customer Number, but do these six records represent six distinct customers?

It is highly likely that customer No 1001 and 1002 are the same person. But what about 1003? The same person again with an error in the date of birth or a younger person of the same name at that address; the son of the older John Smith perhaps?

Looking at Customer Numbers 1004 and 1005, we ask is Mary Green the same person as Mary Jones – now married to a Mr Green perhaps? Or is she an entirely different person who just happens to have the same date of birth?

What about Customer 1006? Is this the same Mary Jones who has moved house? If she had a bad debt record at 27 West St would you want to do business with her at 22 Grove St?

Data Uniqueness is a Business Decision

This set of records forces us to repeat the question; “What is it, in the context of this enterprise, that makes one customer uniquely different from every other customer?”

One thing that is for certain is that it is NOT going to be the Customer Number!

Uniqueness must be defined by the enterprise. It is the job of data analysts to help the enterprise arrive at this definition.

Database designers have the job to implement this uniqueness in a manner that prevents duplicate records being created in the database.

It is impossible for database designers to implement uniqueness if the enterprise has not defined uniqueness from a business point of view and the data analysts have not modelled this.

Unique Keys are Not UIDs

The use of the word “unique” in the term “unique key” and in “unique identifier” at some point in the past got misinterpreted completely by data analysts and database designers, in that they thought that unique keys were a mechanism for implementing unique identity in a database.

Because of this, what they did was to introduce to every database a mechanism that would, above all else, allow duplication to occur!

Amazingly, this error is still practiced worldwide on a daily basis, and not just by those analysts and designers who made the mistake many years ago but also, sadly, by those coming new to data analysis and database design.

Let’s Stop it Now!

Removing Duplicate Records

How can all of these duplicate records be removed from your database? You could buy a clever piece of software that will do it for you?

You could, but it would simply be changing the problem not solving it. You would either end up with a database with no duplicates removed or with a whole lot of records merged that should never have been merged. Try to sort that one out!

The fact is that, if the enterprise has not defined what it sees as the elements that make a data entity unique, then no piece of software can.


The data shown above is only a short, simplified and denormalised example, but is typical of data held by various finance companies for whom I have done consultancy.

I am not making an argument against unique primary keys in tables, as these are essential, but against confusing unique keys with unique identifiers.

Sexual Problems After Stroke

A  stroke  attack can have devastating effects on a victim. It affects both partners in a relationship in most of the incidences. The effects of  stroke  are made worse by secondary illness that run concurrently.  Stroke  itself can sup any remaining sexual desire in a person. More energy and attention is directed towards a quick recovery without giving due consideration that the victim has a life after  stroke . Sex after  stroke  is badly affected by loss of sexual desire in a person. This is because the largest sex organ which is the brain, is usually affected by the disease.  Stroke  interferes with the transmission lines that send signals to the brain. The nervous system is destabilized and a breakdown of proper communication can most probably occur. These effects influence sex and intimacy to great lengths.

 Stroke  triggers a series of body reactions which directly influence the victims sexuality. A person feels less attractive after suffering from a bout of  stroke . This makes sex after  stroke  to be a real hurdle due to this newly formed mind set. It is here that sex and intimacy receives the deadliest blow. The person feels less attractive not only to everyone but most importantly to the partner. What is already internalized is hard to erase as sex and intimacy becomes the major casualty. Sometimes it makes a person to develop withdrawal symptoms when it comes to sex. Intimacy between a couple at this stage receives a fatal blow. The healthy partner becomes a pursuer while the other one withdraws from sex even more. It is a sad moment in a couples life.

Chronic aches and pains are the prerogative of a  stroke  victim. A person is plagued day in day out by bouts of endless aches and pains. No normal person can still be in the mood for sex while under this condition. A clear mind is what makes an intimacy worthwhile. A troubled mind trying to contain varying degrees of body aches and pains can hardly pay attention or concentrate on sex. Sex after  stroke  can further be killed by the fatigue that envelopes a  stroke  survivor. Fatigue erases any sexual considerations that might have been there however negligible. Fatigue is the best sex killer anywhere anytime. All these weighs very heavily on the mind of the  stroke  patient. It is the time when problems facing sex after  stroke  leads to a deep depression.

Persistent vaginal dryness is an aftermath of  stroke . It makes sexual intercourse with a partner very painful instead of being enjoyable. The vagina lacks enough lubrication hence it cannot be receptive to a penetration. It makes sex after  stroke  to lack taste and be less pleasurable. A  stroke  survivor sees no end to this suffering especially if she/he is not taken through post-stroke counseling. Erectile dysfunction is common with men who are  stroke  survivors. They find it very difficult to achieve an erection. Even if they get one, it is almost impossible to maintain it. Sex after  stroke  is influenced by many factors considering the enormity of the disease and its aftermath.

I could understand the truth about my mental condition thanks to the dream language. I have already showed you everything about me, but don’t think that this exposition was easy in the beginning. I was writing down some of my dreams and trying to interpret their meaning based on the knowledge I supposedly had. I was confused and I was ignorant. I didn’t know which method of dream interpretation was right.

I don’t know how I managed to understand that I was bad. I was interpreting the meaning of my dreams based on what I could understand from Carl Jung’s method of dream interpretation at that time.

However, I remember that when I concluded that I was a bad person I felt relieved. It seemed that I had arrived to a decisive point in my life because I made this conclusion.

I couldn’t imagine that this verification could have a positive meaning. I believed that it was very bad to be a bad person.

I had to start thinking in a different way. My dreams were criticizing my personality and my behavior. I understood that the fact that I realized that I was not the good person I imagined I was, helped me understand who I really was. So, it was a very important comprehension, independently of its negative aspect.

I was becoming wiser.

At that time I believed that it was not so hard to become a wise person. I was glad with my philosophical and psychological progress, besides having verified something very unpleasant about me. Yes, I was a bad person. I was selfish.

I recognized this fact, but I believed that I was right for being selfish. I didn’t think that after understanding that I was a bad person I would have to learn how to become a saint.

I had this revelation four years later, in January of 1989, the worst year of my life. I discovered that I was practically schizophrenic. My neurosis already had signs of schizophrenia. I was not simply a bad person. I was a demon.

I don’t know how I could survive after discovering this fact.

In the beginning the admission of your satanic nature will be painful and unpleasant. You won’t bear to look at yourself and identify the demon existent in the biggest part of your brain. You will hate yourself because you will see that you are evil. This is a painful experience that your ego wants to avoid.

You have to be strong and face the truth. This demon is real. Now that you know this fact you cannot be indifferent to its existence. You have to be afraid of your evil self, and you have to be ashamed for having an evil nature.

This initial comprehension is sad, but it helps you become a wise human being.

This comprehension helps you look at the truth with the eyes of an adult. It eliminates all the frivolity that was covering the truth.

The fact that you are a demon is a tragedy. The fact that you must become really human in order to stop facing terror and despair is a terrible necessity. However, you must be grateful because you are learning the truth. Now that you know the truth, you can prevent many horrors.

Now you will do everything you can in order to stop being a demon, and become really human.

You will stop imitating the bad examples of the commercial world, and avoid horrors that seem to be unavoidable for those who ignore how our planet works. Nothing happens by chance.

Earth is a planet specially created by God with the intention to transform demons into human beings. Everything here has the purpose to work like enlightenment. Everything here has the intention to help you see the truth behind the apparent reality.

Most people believe that success in life is based on having material pleasures and social admiration. This is an erroneous ambition. You should desire to stop being evil and absurd instead of agreeing with the cruel concepts of the commercial world.

Violence Can’t Always Be Linked to Mental Illness

On April 16, 2007, Seung-Hui Cho, age 32, killed 32 people on the Virginia Tech campus before committing suicide. It was the single deadliest school shooting in US history. Cho was diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder in childhood and declared mentally ill by a court of law in 2005. Jeffery Dahmer is considered to be one of the worst serial killers in history. He committed acts of murder, rape, and cannibalism upon 17 victims-and those are only the victims of which we are aware. Dahmer was found to be legally sane, but some have suggested he may have been autistic. Ted Bundy was so articulate as his own lawyer that the judge said he would be glad to have him in his courtroom as an attorney. Was he insane? Did he know right from wrong? The unibomber, Ted Kaczynski, was determined to have a severe mental illness, but he was criminally responsible for his actions, The more we learn, the more confusing it gets.

The first thing people want to do is make sure that those with severe mental illnesses cannot get guns. This is a good idea, but doesn’t solve the problem of violent people who do not have a mental illness.

The MacArthur Study of psychiatric inpatients found that mental illness alone is not an accurate predictor of future violence. In fact, the study found, someone who is diagnosed as Schizophrenic is even less likely to be violent than the average person. The study found that the major risk factors for violence are: a childhood history of abuse, prior arrests, antisocial personality disorder, drug abuse by parents, substance abuse, anger control problems, violent fantasies, involuntary commitment to a psychiatric hospital-and even something as simple as being a young male. This is not to say that mental illness and violence are completely unrelated, or that those who are diagnosed as mentally ill do not commit violent acts. However, those people with mental illness who do end up being violent tend to do so when they are off of their medications, avoiding treatment, and/or abusing substances. They also tend to have additional diagnoses on Axis II.

Every day, in order to determine who will have to stay in the hospital involuntarily, mental health professionals have to determine whether a person is an imminent danger to himself or others. The research makes it clear that unaided clinical judgment in predicting future violence is little better than chance. Actuarial tools provide somewhat of an improvement over clinical judgment, but how many hospitals, parole boards, prisons, jails, courts, and police agencies are using them in the US?

Although the use of actuarial tools, such as the PCL-R, VRAG, and STATIC 2000 are already commonplace in Canada-where most of these tools were developed-the trend is only now beginning to work its way into common US mental health and criminal justice practices. It needs to be universal. We cannot continue to let dangerous people out on the street because we think they might not be dangerous. That should no longer be our standard of care. Clinical judgment in determining risk of future dangerousness has an almost 50% error rate. Actuarial tools have correct classification rates for dangerousness of 65-80. Our traditional psychological tests cannot be used I this way.

My own research on violence has shown that psychiatric illness and symptomology alone is not sufficient to predict future violence. There is no simple construct. It takes a combination of risk factors and an absence of resiliency factors to predict future violence. We run the risk of being too simplistic when we try to narrow violence down to a single, weakly related factor such as mental illness. If a mentally ill person stops taking his/her medication, has a past assault on another, and begins abusing substances, he/she is at a greater risk for future violence than the mentally ill person without these characteristics. We have a great deal of tools at our disposal that will accurately assess the possibility of future violence, and we know the steps toward managing it. Isn’t it time that we used these tools universally?
