Copaiba Oil

If you suffer from any dry skin condition you will be pleased to know that a new herbal treatment from the Amazon jungle may give you relief from this bothersome skin disorder. The name of this exciting herbal medicine is Copaiba oil.

As a natural remedy, the Copaiba Oil has been around for centuries. This oil is used by the indigenous people of the Amazon to help skin diseases such as psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis. It can also be used internally to treat a variety of medical conditions. It can be used in respiratory problems as an expectorant and even as a therapeutic aid for   bronchitis . Another cure for sore throat mixes four drops of Copaiba oil with honey. It is also used as a gargle that can effectively help with tonsillitis and sore throat.

The use of Copaiba oil goes back thousands of years to the Amazon area of South America. The medicinal properties of this oil first became known through the Jesuits during the 17th century. Being a medicine distributed primarily by the Jesuits, it was first known as the Jesuit’s balsam. This Jesuit’s balsam was used for hemorrhoids and other conditions.

Currently, the Copaiba Oil has found widespread use. It has also become known not only for its medicinal benefits but also for its cosmetic applications. The oil is usually applied to the skin to soften it. It has a naturally high content of essential fatty acids which are skin tissue’s building blocks. Added to that is the effective antibacterial and anti-inflammatory traits of the Copaiba Oil which has led to it being used as an ingredient in soaps, bath oils and other cosmetic lotions and creams.

Continued studies about the medicinal benefits of the Copaiba Oil have shown that the active ingredients of the oil can be used for a variety of medical applications. Aside from its anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties, it has been discovered that this oil also has gastro-protective properties, that is to say that it can be used for treating stomach disorders such as stomach ulcers.

Furthermore, Copaiba Oil has also been discovered to have an anti-cancer reaction against melanoma or skin cancer cells and metastatic lung tumor cells. However, the study is still not final and additional research about the matter is still needed.

The usage of Copaiba Oil should be limited to topical use only. Internally taking this oil is not recommended unless supervised by a doctor. When applying Copaiba Oil, it should be kept away from sensitive areas of the body, especially the eyes as it can act as an irritant. If, while using this oil, rashes are experienced, usage should be stopped immediately and medical advice should be sought. Copaiba Oil has not been reported to have any adverse reactions when used with other conventional drugs but, it is best if medical advice is consulted before using with any medication.

Employee Share Ownership in Australia – The Future

In the past, Australia has missed golden opportunities to develop an effective employee ownership policy. Given looming demographic pressures, any future failure to promote commitment and productivity in the workplace will have a serious effect on this nation’s prosperity. Ordinary Australian workers must have the chance to become significant co-owners of the businesses in which they work.

The Employee Ownership Group (EOG) in Australia is a network of corporations committed to promoting Employee Share Ownership Plans (ESOPs) for all employees. The EOG envisages an Australia in which employee share plans will be widespread in the workplace and run deep within businesses.

The purpose of employee ownership is to provide a means by which the mass of employees can become direct co-owners of the businesses where they work.

Employee share ownership has been developed as a way of reforming one of the key problems confronting the free enterprise economy: how to share the ownership of society’s capital resources among the widest number of people without compromising either private ownership or economic freedom. Employee Share Ownership preserves both of these principles. It does so by providing employees with the means to purchase a personal stake in the enterprise that employs them. In sum, employee ownership aims to assist employees to become genuine ‘capitalists’.

In Australia today the chief beneficiaries of ESOPs are the employees of publicly listed companies. However, the overwhelming majority of private sector employees work for unlisted companies and private companies – and these often face insuperable barriers to implementing employee share plans.

Without the kind of widespread joint ownership offered by employee share plans across the economy, there is no sure ground upon which to reconcile the old hostility between capital and labour. This is because the basis of that antagonism has been precisely the ownership – and (or) control – of capital on one side and the lack of capital on the other. For this reason ESOPs offer an historical opportunity to address a source of major social and economic dislocation and conflict and to strengthen, in a fundamental way, the free enterprise system.

There are also certain implications that flow from employee ownership, and the structure of employee share plans, which provide additional incentives for strong, pro-ESOP policies.

For example, research indicates that companies whose employees share substantially in the ownership of the business decisively outperform their rivals whose employees are not shareholders in the firm. This is because companies with high levels of employee ownership demonstrate higher measures of commitment to the interests of the business by their employees and, consequently, higher productivity and profit levels, than their peers with lower levels of employee ownership, or none at all.

The EOG therefore is calling on the Australian Government to implement the following ESOP legislative and regulatory reform measures:

o A single share plan with tax-exempt and tax-deferred elements;

o Tax to be applied only when the value of shares is realised;

o Growth in share value to be taxed as capital rather than as income;

o The flexibility to offer a wider range of equities than simply ordinary shares;

o More advanced share plan integrity measures; and

o Streamlined disclosure requirements.

Shoulder Joint Dislocation

Dislocation  of a joint means that the joint surfaces, which are normally closely applied to each other, are completely disrupted and do not touch each other any longer. The joint capsule surrounds the joint and supports it and is often damaged as the joint surfaces move apart from their normal position.  Dislocations  may also result in damage to the joint surfaces themselves as they move across each other in their journey to the dislocated position. Joint, ligament and nerve injuries can occur during  dislocations .

Dislocations  of the shoulder are the most common form of  dislocation  of a joint, making up almost half of all of this type of injury. The commonest form of  dislocation  is for the humeral head to be displaced forwards, known as an anterior  dislocation . This occurs most often when the arm is out to the side, rotated externally and moved backwards and there is a forwards force on the upper arm, pushing the joint out in its position of vulnerability. A blow to the rear of the arm, a fall on an outstretched hand (FOOSH) and a strong outward rotation plus shoulder abduction can all result in a  dislocation .

Posterior shoulder  dislocation  is not frequent and occurs with the arm turned inwards and across the body, most often caused by muscle spasm in the large back and chest muscles from an epileptic fit or an electrocution event. A downward joint  dislocation  can occur if the arm is moved outwards and rotated outwardly with significant force, the arm bone levering against the underside of the shoulder blade and so pushing the joint out of place. The posterior  dislocation  is more commonly associated with side effects such as damage to the nerves and blood vessels or an injury to the shoulder rotator cuff muscles.

An atraumatic shoulder  dislocation  can occur with a tendency for the joint to be unstable in every direction, often present in patients with joint hypermobility. Multidirectional instability is the medical term given to this syndrome which presents in families, in younger people of less than 30 years and occurs in both shoulders. Subluxation of the joint can occur initially which involves one side of the joint coming off its opposite number to a degree and then relocating suddenly into position. Shoulders can be dislocated voluntarily in some cases, although this may normally be connected with psychiatric disorders.

Patients who have anterior shoulder  dislocation  typically have their arm slightly out to the side and rotated outwardly, with an obvious bulge of the head of the humerus easily felt at the front of the shoulder. The shoulder muscles may be in spasm and any attempt to move is likely to cause extreme pain. Posterior shoulder  dislocations  make a patient keep their arm inwardly rotated and kept in to the side of the body and the humeral head can be felt posteriorly. This kind of injury can be missed or misclassified as frozen shoulder.

The relocation of a shoulder  dislocation  is performed by surgeons in many different ways and the time from the incident to when the joint is finally relocated is the important matter. If the time is too long the muscle spasm increases and interferes with fixing the  dislocation . An original way was to put a foot in the person’s axilla to make one end secure and traction the arm lengthways until the reduction is effected. Techniques have developed and an effective modern way is to abduct the shoulder whilst pushing the humeral head anteriorly, then rotate the arm externally and traction the arm, leading very often to success.

A significant part of a shoulder  dislocation  is pain and doctors have many ways of ensure the best pain relief and make the reduction process as easy as it can be. If the  dislocation  is recent then the joint may be relocated without much in the way of analgesics or muscle relaxing drugs. The best sedatives used have a fast mode of action, good muscular relaxation properties and short duration of action so the patient recovers quickly. Once relocated the arm should be placed in a sling which may be retained for up to three weeks to allow the capsular tear to heal.

Thoracic Back Pain – Pain Under Left Rib Cage

Thoracic back pain below the left rib cage is a problem for all those in agony of this pain. Doctors consider any regular pain as a very grave disorder that needs instant notice and treatment. Arrangement of the rib cage is contains the sternum-breastbone, thoracic vertebrae and ribs and the coastal cartilages that joins the ribs to the sternum. The expression cage is known as a formation to home animals. The formation of rib cage is an identical formation that provides protection to the heart and lungs of the animals, in a doctors language it is also called as a thoracic cage.

In the chest-thorax, nerves come out from the spine and are there is division of this into two sections. One part heads towards underneath the skin and additionally drives fibers to the face of the skin and it as well moves partly about the chest. The other nerve moves from underneath of the right rib about the sternum bone, and additionally surfaces to the skin. It then moves rear towards the surface of the similar stage as the first nerve. Any discomfort caused to the area of the ribcage can lead to a pain in the rib cage.

After other serious cardiac problems, some grounds of thoracic back pain can include osteoporosis, costochondritis (inflammation in the cartilages where the ribs join the breastbone) or pleurisy (swelling of the linings of the lung).

In such circumstances, it’s essential to get x-ray done in order to check for any possibility of rib fracture. Incase this does turn out to be true, then a surgery is recommended. In case this pain has been prolonged for 3 months or more it’s essential to go for an MRI or CT scan and check with an expert to test out for damage of the nerve, cancer or tumor.

If cartilage is swollen up between the breastbone and the ribs, that can lead to thoracic back pain and pain below the arms. This kind of pain may give an indication of a heart pain or lung problem as well. This situation generally does not last for very long, but for the time it occurs it leaves you in extreme pain.

Many a times you will pay a visit to the gastroenterologist due to regular pain in the back beneath your left rib cage as the issue begins with your stomach. It will not make a difference to whatever and in how much quantity you eat as you will constantly be hungry. However it will only lead to heart burn and pain towards left side beneath the cage. Regular blood pathology is carried out in order to eradicate the option of an illness of the pancreas or intestine. One should seek advice from a practitioner on gastrointestinal, digestive, and bowel disorders and this possibility should also be eradicated. These signs may make you believe it’s due to abnormal bowel, so a complete checkup of the colon should be carried out.

Women who are pregnant, especially those in advance stages will feel highly uncomfortable with this kind of pain. They feel excessive pain close to the area where the ribcage and breast get together. The pain leads to great disturbance and at times causes difficulty to sleep.

How Smoking Affects the Bones

If you or a friend are a smoker, this information should be very valuable to you.

For several years, my friend, Sally has been trying to cut down on smoking. She started by smoking one less cigarette per day for a whole week. And then the next week, she cut down one more. But before she got down to zero per day, she always seemed to hit a roadblock and go right back to square one.

Sally’s struggle reminded me of one of my husband’s illustrations that he used with our children. He told of a friend Jim who thought it would hurt his dog too much if he cut its tail off all at once, so he cut off just an inch at a time for several weeks.

That story was applied to many situations to encourage our children to just get a job done all at once instead of puttering around and dragging the job out for a long time. (We never believed it was a true story, but it often made the point.)

Sally knew that smoking was bad for her lungs. She had no idea how bad it was for her bones.

Are you wondering how smoking affects the bones? There are two processes going on continuously in healthy bones. Osteoclasts break down old bone tissue and osteoblasts build new bone tissue. Smoking inhibits both processes. The bone becomes brittle because instead of new bone tissue replacing the old, the old tissue just accumulates and becomes older.

For that reason, smoking reduces bone density by up to 25 per cent and increases the risk of hip and other fractures.

Osteoporosis cannot be ignored. It is a deadly disease. Did you know that it kills more women in the UK than ovarian, cervical and uterine cancers combined? I haven’t seen the recent statistics for the United States, but I know it is high.

On March 16, 2010, the International Osteoporosis Foundation introduced their work to the European Parliament.

The IOF is based in Nyon, Switzerland. According to HealthNewDigest, their aim is to:

“educate the public about osteoporosis, empower people to take responsibility for their bone health, persuade governments to make this disease a health care priority, and to assist health care professionals in providing the best possible care to patients and sufferers”.

That sounds like a worthy goal to me, as up to 20 per cent of women who suffer hip fractures die within six months of sustaining the fracture! This is a preventable fact!

We are often told that bone density is affected by how well you ate as a child. But it is also affected by how well you eat today. It is never too soon or too late to improve the condition of your bones. I improved mine after 65 years of age and many who are suffering with osteopenia and osteoporosis today, are much younger than 65.

Now is the time to make necessary, simple changes in your eating plan and add necessary supplements to avoid the pain of this often silent disease. Why not start today to eat more protein and fresh fruit and vegetables?

Adult Dyslexia Signs and Symptoms – How to Know If You Are Suffering From Dyslexia

Dyslexia is becoming an eye opener now because people are more aware of the condition they have and willing to subject themselves to adult dyslexia test and treatment. Years ago people will not believe about reading and learning disability and they just tag you as slow learner, lazy or simply not as intelligent as other kids without giving the proper treatment. But now with the awareness of this disorder, you and the people around you are more adept to deal with this disorder. Although there are most cases that dyslexia are diagnosed when they are already an adult. But now that dyslexia is openly identified as a serious condition, you should immediately seek professional help once you suspect that you are suffering from dyslexia signs and symptoms.

There are many ways to know if you are suffering from dyslexia. As an adult, it is your responsibility to identify if you have dyslexia signs and symptoms through proper tests and evaluations. You should seek professional help to effectively get the necessary treatment. Here are some dyslexia signs and symptoms that would indicate you have dyslexia.

Direction Confusion. One dyslexia signs and symptoms is difficulty recognizing directions. It comes in many forms like difficulty in recognizing left and right, up and down, following maps and compass and following instructions. Directional confusion is also the reason why dyslexics interchange letters like b and d, p and q, n and u etc. Dyslexics are confused not only in letters but in numbers too, you may read or write 16 to 61.

Spelling Difficulties. Another dyslexia signs and symptoms is the difficulty to spell simple and troublesome words. You may find it difficult to spell even simple short words. Other words are spelled the way they are spoken like please to plese, knock to nock and search to serch.

Math and sequences difficulties. Difficulties understanding math lessons and conceptualizing sequences is another dyslexia signs and symptoms you must observe. It is a big challenge for dyslexics to understand numbers in correct order or to reverse that order. You may find it hard to count to 100 forwards and backwards. Due to short term memory, dyslexics may also find it hard to understand mathematical operations like multiplications and divisions.

Comprehension difficulties. Dyslexia is not only limited to written words but in some cases even in speech recognition. Another dyslexia signs and symptoms you must be aware of is comprehension difficulties. You may find it hard to retain what is said to you and may not be able to repeat the words said to you. It is also hard for you to follow instructions or follow 3 or more procedures that you need to do.

Having these dyslexia signs and symptoms can be a serious condition but it is not that complicated if you immediately seek professional help and address the problem.

How to Sell Stuff Online

One question often put to me in forums and on my blog is how to get started selling stuff online. What stuff should I sell online? How to sell stuff online? And “what and who the heck can I believe out of all these dudes trying to sell me their products”. The truth is, to get started, you may not need to buy anything but the basics. As you get more advanced there are more in depth courses available for various techniques. For now don’t over complicate things and get “analysis   paralysis “. Let’s keep it simple. Starting out you’ve got two choices: Selling other peoples products or selling your own. If you don’t have your own then find a product you like and sell that for a commission. It saves a lot of time researching and creating your own product and if the product sells, there’s nothing stopping you creating a better product. It also allows you to build your own list of potential customers.

How to sell stuff online- The basics.

The first thing to do is to go to here you will find a humungous list of stuff to sell from every niche to just about any niche. Pick about 10 products you like, then it’s time to see if they sell. There are two tools I recommend for keyword research. One is Google’s keyword tool external and the other is Wordtracker. Google is free. Wordtracker’s free and also has an advanced paid version. When you’ve done this go to Google and type in the search term in phrases (“”s). If it has more than 30,000 competing pages just leave it alone for now. Don’t make the mistake a lot of people do and just go for high volume traffic. Look for buying keywords. For example, “SEO course” may have 100 searches a day and “Buy SEO course” may only have 20 searches a day-which would you choose?…. I’d go for “buy SEO course”, this shows commercial intent, the searcher has indicated he/she wants to buy an SEO course. Finding buying keywords, even when they have a low number of searches, is how to sell stuff online.

Now you have some buying keywords you need to narrow your Clickbank collection of products to just ONE (keep it simple remember, there’s no rush). Now, with that one product, which should have had the best keywords, pick the 5 most commercially intent keywords with the best search volumes. From here, create 5 articles using those keywords in each of the articles. You can then either manually submit them to a list of article directories or use one of a range of free automation tools available by simply searching Google. The key here is to create your own Bio at the end pointing back to a landing page, this way you can create your own list of potential customers. Again a search online will reveal numerous information on creating landing pages from novices to the experienced web designer. Nvu is just one free application you can use to create a no fuss web page. It’s at this time you may have to put your hand in your wallet. You will need an autoresponder to collect the names of your potential customers. I recommend Aweber or Getresponse. Both have excellent tutorials to show you exactly how to use everything which makes things much simpler.

How to sell stuff online- advanced.

The next thing to do may seem a little complex but I do recommend you take action. It really is the best way to learn. Conquer your fears and besides, there’s a ton of info online…..Ok we’re going to make a video promoting our Clickbank product. Mac’s and PC’s both have free movie creation programs on them and they’re more than adequate. If you’ve bought the Clickbank product, which you should have ( it makes it much easier to promote!), create a video walk through of what the product is and show the buyer what they can get. Spend a day playing around, create a script and read it into your webcam or camcorder, or if you don’t want to been seen, just create informative slideshows and narrate over them. Take action, it’s not hard when you do it.

How to sell stuff online- Conclusion.

Now, assuming you taken your time and created your video we now need to submit the video to the video directories. Again a search online will reveal all the available directories including Google video, YouTube, Viddler ,etc. Traffic Geyser offers a service where the whole process can be automated at a monthly charge. Again make sure you put a link in the video back to your landing page. On each of the video sites you will have a URL for the video. Copy and paste each one and download Social Marker (another free tool) and submit it to all the bookmarking sites available on there.

Are you still wondering how to sell stuff online? Well if you followed that OK you should start seeing some rankings and getting traffic, interact with your list and give them good, useful relevant content that they want and need. Always think, “would I want to receive this if I was interested in this subject?” If not, don’t send it!

How to Cure Gallstones Naturally

The Natural Gallstone Cure

Gallstones, sometimes referred to as “gallbladder attacks”, are more than a painful nuisance. Untreated, gallstones can cause jaundice or pancreatitis, and can even require surgery with complete removal of the gallbladder. Don’t wait for what might otherwise be inevitable. Cure gallstones with natural and simple adjustments.

Your Gallbladder and You

The gallbladder stores bile produced by the liver. It releases bile, which is needed to break down fats, chemicals, and toxins, so that they can be flushed out of the body. If the liver becomes overworked with extra fats and poisons, the bile can crystallize and form gallstones.

Risk factors for gallstones include…

    o    body weight

    o    elevated cholesterol level

o    high-fat/low-fiber/starchy diet or fewer, larger meals

    o    rapid weight loss

o    some medications, hormone therapy, pregnancy

Symptoms of Gallstones

Gallstones can be asymptomatic until they reach a certain size. Then the condition is characterized by severe abdominal pain (described as similar to kidney stones), nausea, vomiting, fever, abdominal bloating and indigestion. Attacks are most common after large, fatty meals, especially in the evening before bed.

Medical Treatment

Gallstones are sometimes treated with an orally-administered acid, but recurrence is common when treatment is stopped. Surgery is a more common option.

Complete removal of the gallbladder, or “open” surgery, requires a week’s hospital stay and an additional month of recuperation. Nearly 40% of patients experience persistent pain and gastrointestinal distress, and 20% develop chronic diarrhea. Risks of serious complications include vascular injury and bowel perforation.

The second surgical option is laparoscopic, or non-invasive. This requires a week of bed rest and another month of light activity. Many patients report residual pain and a decreased energy level up to a few months following the procedure.

It seems a bleak prognosis, doesn’t it? It doesn’t have to be.

Cure Gallstones Naturally

Cure and prevention of gallstones is quite simple. If you’re having a gallbladder attack now, drink a full glass of water, followed with magnesium. This may help regulate bile flow. Similarly, drink a “gallbladder flush” – apple juice mixed with raw garlic and raw ginger root.

To prevent gallstones naturally…

o    Take a high quality organic herbal supplement. (see below)

o    Change your diet to high-fiber/low-fat, with lots of raw, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, whole grains. Eliminate saturated fats, starches, and fried foods.

o    Limit dairy and cholesterol intake (milk, eggs, butter, meat)

o    Increase your intake of Vitamin C, folate, calcium, and magnesium, all of which are indicated in liver and gallbladder health.

o    Eat frequent light meals throughout the day.

    o    Avoid eating before bedtime.

What kind of herbal supplement should I take?

Therapeutic Action: You want a powerful, stimulating formula that is cleansing, healing, and strengthening to the both the liver and gallbladder. The organic herbs in the formula should work synergistically to help heal and detoxify these vital organs. The formula should work by stimulating the liver to produce more bile through the gallbladder and bile ducts. The increased bile flow allows the liver and gallbladder to flush out thousands of toxins, chemicals, antibiotics, pollutants, drugs, and cholesterol safely from the body. The formula should also dramatically reduces inflammation, pain, and even removes gallstones safely from the body.

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) & Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL)

Sports like football are laden with knee injuries because they involve hits to the outside of the knee. Contact to the outside of the knee can cause meniscus tears, ACL tears and MCL tears to all occur at once.

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) attaches to the femur (thigh bone) and the tibia (shin bone), and essentially prevents the femur from sliding too far forward. Like other ligaments in the knee, the ACL provides stability and allows movement such as rotation of the knee. Injuries to the ACL cause both pain and swelling in the knee.

ACL tears lead to other injuries such as arthritis and cartilage tears. Because the ACL helps stabilize the knee, injuries to the ACL make the knee less stable. When the knee is less stable, sudden pivoting movements are extremely difficult and oftentimes lead to arthritis and cartilage tears.

Treatment for ACL Injuries

Once the ACL is completely torn, it cannot heal back together, even when the ends are sewn back together. The most common treatment for ACL tears is reconstructive surgery. Reconstructive surgery involves removal of the torn ends of the ACL and replacement of those ends with a graft. The graft is secured by tunnels that are made in the tibia and femur.

The medical collateral ligament (MCL) is located in the inside of the knee joint and functions to prevent the joint from opening up. Like the ACL, the MCL attaches to both the femur and tibia and controls stability in the knee. Injuries to the MCL involve pain and swelling in the knee.

Usually, MCL injuries occur when the knee joint buckles after being hit. Because it functions to prevent the inside of the knee joint from opening up, pressure to the outside of the knee can injure the MCL. In addition to hits to the outside of the knee, stretching the MCL too far can also cause it to tear.

Treatment for MCL Injuries

MCL injuries heal quickly and rarely require surgery. Resting the knee, icing the injury and taking anti-inflamatory medications can help the injury heal more quickly.

Severe sprains to the MCL sometimes require a knee brace. Usually, even patients with knee braces are able to resume normal activity and athletic activity as soon as they are no longer experiencing pain. If the injury is even more severe, physical therapy and a 3 to 4 month break from normal activity is required.

Pain in the Back of the Head – What is the Cause?

What to do with pain in the back of the head?

Pain located in the back of the head, neck, and shoulders is very common. There can be many causes of pain located in the back of the head and neck. Pain can originate from tension headaches and migraines, as well as physical conditions brought on by stress, poor posture, injury, inflammation, pinched nerves, and other problems of the spine and neck.

Is it Tension Headache or Migraine?

Many people with pain in the back of their head, neck, and shoulders do not stop to consider that the source of their pain could be migraines. Instead, we assume that the source of our pain must be due to a physical problem such as chronic forward head posture, a “stiff neck” from too much computer use, or other muscle stiffness and cramps. At this point many of us take over-the-counter pain killers, rearrange our desks to meet ergonomic standards, join a gym, start practicing yoga, and seek treatment from chiropractors and massage therapists to relieve our pain. Unfortunately for many of us, the relief brought on by these treatments or lifestyle changes is fleeting at best.

The lack of response to common pain treatment for head and neck pain can be very frustrating for many people. Chronic pain sufferers will frequently go from specialist to specialist seeking out a diagnosis. Many people do get diagnosis ranging anywhere from occipital neuralgia, cervicogenic headache, to TMJ disorders. Unfortunately, treatment for these conditions can sometimes have no effect on their pain.

Why is this? Essentially, many of these people are suffering from migraines that have never been correctly diagnosed. Too frequently people believe that migraines only cause single sided, throbbing, severe headaches accompanied by nausea, light sensitivity, and visual disturbances. In fact, as many as 60% of all migraine sufferers report neck pain (sometimes throbbing,) stiffness, or tightness, at some point during their migraine attack. The reason for this is simple – migraine causes blood vessel and surrounding tissue inflammation anywhere in the head, neck, and shoulders.

If all the other treatments you have tried for your head and neck pain have been unsuccessful – please consider that you may have migraines and may respond better to treatments which address the cause of your pain, not just the symptoms.

Natural Swine Flu Treatments – Sore Throat

A sore throat is one of the initial symptoms of a virus, including swine flu. Accompanying symptoms like fever, chills, aches and pains, nasal discharge, coughing, sneezing, digestive upsets and malaise may also be present.

Conventional swine flu treatment includes a course of anti-virals like Tamiflu and a period of quarantine to limit the spread of the virus. There is also a lot you can do with natural swine flu treatments to relieve your sore throat, boost your immune system and fight the infection. Here’s some of the most popular recommendations for natural swine flu treatments:

Vitamin C

High dose vitamin C can boost your white blood cell activity to help fight flu infections and relieve the pain of a sore throat.

At the onset of symptoms, take 1 gram of vitamin C hourly until you get loose stools. Dosing with vitamin C until you reach ‘bowel tolerance’ indicates that your tissues are saturated with vitamin C, and any excess is spilling over into the urine and stools. At this stage your immune system will be working optimally.

Garlic is a powerful anti-viral food recommended as a natural swine flu treatment. You can eat it raw or grate it into teas, soups, stir fries or juices. Aim to consume at least 1 clove a day.

Anti-viral herbs

Anti-viral herbs can build protection and natural immunity to all types of flu. Olive leaf extract, astragalus and echinacea (which is particularly good for children) are good choices. These herbs can be taken as a tea or in liquid, capsule or tablet form.

Hydrogen peroxide

Inactivating pathogens with hydrogen peroxide has been used worldwide since the flu pandemic of 1918. For a sore throat it is good to use hydrogen peroxide mixed in warm water as a gargle. It can also be taken internally under your health professional’s guidance.

Flu-buster tea

This always works to relieve a sore throat for the normal flu so it is a good bet that it will help as a natural swine flu treatment. Simply brew a teaspoon of grated ginger, a teaspoon of grated garlic and a pinch of cayenne pepper in a cup of hot, boiled water. Add the juice of half a lemon (and a teaspoon of honey if desired to sweeten). Sip slowly. Drink at least three times a day or as needed.

Chicken soup

Chicken soup is high in the amino acid cysteine which can thin mucous and help eliminate it from the body. Add some ginger, garlic, turmeric and cayenne to increase its healing properties.

N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) is an amino acid that has been shown to raise immunity to the flu in clinical trials. It is available as a capsule and should be taken at 600 mg twice daily.

Steam inhalation

Aromatherapy oils like tea tree, eucalyptus and thyme are excellent natural swine flu treatments to relieve a sore throat and congestion. Simply add a few drops of your chosen oil to a bowel of hot water. Cover your head with a towel and breathe the steam in deeply for a few minutes.

For those who follow a healthy lifestyle and use these natural swine flu treatments, the swine flu may have little or no effect on the body.

What Does Homeopathy Cure?

The question of what diseases are treated by homeopathy is one of the most common. This is not surprising, given that the patient is interested in the treatment of a particular disease and it is important for him or her to know whether homeopathy in treating this particular disease.

Meanwhile, this question is not entirely correct. Homeopathy is not treating a disease with “a name” but rather a specific patient with well-defined symptoms – signs of the disease. However, I’ll still try to answer this question.

Compared with other treatments, the best effect of homeopathy is in the treatment of neuroses, vegetative-vascular dystonia, insomnia, headaches, as well as for common diseases of the gastrointestinal tract: chronic gastritis, colitis, cholecystitis, hemorrhoids and constipation.

Many diseases of the female genital system and mammary glands are usually effectively cured by homeopathy and the same is true for chronic prostatitis, impotence. This also applies to diseases of urinary system – inflammatory diseases of the kidneys, urinary incontinence.

Homeopathy has proven itself in the treatment of respiratory system diseases – bronchitis, bronchial asthma, sinusitis, tonsillitis, otitis, tonsillitis and sinusitis. Skin disease – abrasions and acne, hives, eczema, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, warts, papilloma and warts are usually treatable. Homeopathy deals with the consequences of both physical (shock, burns, cuts, bites) and psycho-emotional (the effects of fear, frustration, anger, resentment, etc.) injury, is useful in cases of the border states of human mind. It also helps in the treatment of obesity and metabolic normalization of the body.

Homeopathy is very effective in the treatment of various pediatric diseases.

These diseases are usually not yet developed, are not yet “over treated” and thus the effect of the correct homeopathic treatment can be seen very quickly.

Often parents bring children with some physical symptoms and are surprised when a homeopathic treatment normalizes mental problems – hyperactivity is gone, behavior is improved, the child becomes less capricious. But this should not be a surprise, in fact correctly chosen homeopathic remedy begins with the effect on the mind and normalizes the general parameters of the body. After it “gets up on the right track” the body itself is able to cope with the disease.

Homeopathy will not treat appendicitis, it does not stop multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and other “systemic” diseases and it does not replace surgical methods of treatment (when necessary).

But in all these situations it may be the perfect complement to existing treatments, eliminating individual symptoms, stabilizing the acute condition, reducing the number of attacks and driving a disease into a remission.

All About Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder, also known as manic depressive disorder is a mental disorder that is mainly characterized by bouts of depression, mania or extreme mood swings from being extremely happy and euphoric to being irritable or depression. These periods are often separated by normal mood period too in most cases. However in acute cases there is a rapid alternate between mania and depression. In case the patient is suffering from extreme manic episodes, it could lead to symptoms that are psychotic in nature such as hallucinations and delusions.

Bipolar disorder can be divided into different types depending on the severity and the nature of mood swings experienced by the patient. The different types are Bipolar I, Bipolar II, Cyclothymia and others. Research suggests that most of the creative geniuses have suffered from different forms of this mental Disorder. Vincent Van Gough is an example of a genius who is believed to have suffered from this Disorder. The treatment for Bipolar disorder is usually in the form of medications and drugs and psychotherapy. Most of the times, this metal disorder is also wrongly diagnosed as depression or schizophrenia.

The symptoms of bipolar disorder could vary and take many forms. However the symptoms broadly border on presence of depression and mania. Some of the other symptoms are mixed episodes, psychotic features such as delusions and hallucinations, rapid cycling, alternating between mania and depression in just a short duration of time and a host of other complications. People diagnosed with bipolar disorder mostly tend to be suicidal in nature. However having said that, not every person displays the same set of symptoms and diagnosing this metal illness is a challenge for mental health professionals too. Some of the common symptoms that individuals with this disorder usually display are insomnia, paranoia, indifference, shyness, lack of motivation, irritability, anxiety, anger, sadness and guilt.

The causes for this strange disorder vary from person to person and research shows that the disorder is usually caused by a combination of factors mainly psychological and biological factors. Genetic factors play a huge role in causing Bipolar disorder. A number of research studies indicate that this disorder can be inherited from one generation to another. It has also been observed that most people suffering from bipolar disorders have used stimulants in their childhood that has been found to cause this disorder. In other cases, neurotransmitters are also believed to be the cause of bipolar disorder, the main reason being imbalance of these neurotransmitters in the body. Stress is also believed to trigger bipolar disorder in most individuals. This could be stress from job, emotional stress, or any other event that triggers stress in an individual.

Diagnosis of bipolar disorder is not very simple and it involves studying the abnormalities reported by the patient and family members, colleagues and friends. This is also followed by observations by the psychiatrist or nurse in the clinic. There are no tests that can be conducted to confirm the illness, but tests are conducted to eliminate the possibility of other illness such as an infection, HIV, metabolic disturbance, epilepsy and others. Once all the requisite tests and evaluation of medical history and psychiatric history is concluded followed by the evaluation of current symptoms and if the symptoms include depression and mania then the individual is diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder.

Treatments for Bipolar Disorder usually comprises of mediations and psychotherapy. Medications are prescribed to patients to help stabilize their mood swings and control delusions and hallucinations. These medicines could range from anti anxiety medications to anti depressants to mood stabilizers and sedatives. This has to be coupled with therapy as this disorder directly effects the cognitive and emotional functioning of the individual. Some of the therapies suggested are group therapy, psychoanalytic therapy, cognitive behavior therapy and others. Hospitalization is necessary in case the patient is experiencing several mania and depression symptoms coupled with suicidal thoughts.

Diabetes Is Starvation

When you hear about type 2  diabetes  there are usually two main explanations given for the problem.

  • Either your body does not make enough insulin, or
  • Your body has trouble using insulin, i.e. Insulin resistance.

In many cases, both these situations are at play. These are the root cause of  diabetes  – lack of insulin or insulin resistance.

Whichever scenario is at play in the life of a Type 2 diabetic, the bottom line is still the same: glucose is not getting to the cells for energy and cellular repair functions. The result is, the cells starve and eventually die.

This manifests itself as complications – nerve damage, organ failure, and so on. But, that’s only half the story…

Why’d they stop the mail man?

Why would insulin not be able to get the glucose into the cells (in the case of insulin resistance syndrome)? This is similar to asking, “Why have they stopped the mail man from delivering the mail at mail box?” Wait, I’ll tell you…

Research at the University of Kentucky has shown that dietary and body fats are the main culprits in adult onset (Type 2)  diabetes . How does this happen?

Imagine each cell having, what is called, insulin receptor sites. The insulin molecule has two hands. One hand is used to grab a molecule of glucose, the other holds on to the receptor site on a cell.

When the receptor cites are clogged with fat molecules, insulin action is “restricted” or resisted, hence the term insulin resistance. What can the starving diabetic do?

How to get the mail delivered

The good news is that within seven hours after an aerobic exercise session the cells start putting on new receptor sites.

That’s why exercise is so effective in regulating blood sugar. It opens doors, and relieves the starvation!

I have experienced this personally. This is fact. Have you wondered why we are encouraged to exercise regularly both as prevention and as treatment of  diabetes ?

Exercise also tells the body that it’s in need of more energy for the activity at hand. This is stimulation for the body to create more muscle, i.e. increased fat burning capacity and create more cells with more receptor sites to use up the glucose in the blood.

Diabetes  is starvation at the cell level but we can jump-start those cells so they start responding again. Regular (daily) exercise is the perfect way to do that.

If you or someone you know have type 2  diabetes , you (or they) are starving. But this does not have to continue. Do like I do. Walk for 30 to 60 minutes every morning and get an early night’s sleep.

I am not a doctor, but I have  diabetes . As I always say, he who studies it may know very much about it, but he who has it and knows how to prevent it from controlling his life knows what it really is.

Obesity – How to Become an Obesity Critic

Being overweight is one thing but being huge and obese is a crime against humanity. Strong words that seem to have no effects on the general population. Stand up and be counted. Do you want to learn what you can do from your kitchen table? You see overweight people everywhere and yet who is doing something about it? I am, can you help? The news are full of medical problems all governments are trying to deal with. Not enough resources, Doctors, health care providers, hospitals, and add to this the fact that most of the population is overweight. You can do something, just like me. Join in and do your part. Let me show you how to begin.

Obesity-How to become an obesity critic. Here are the 5 steps you need to qualify:

  1. You have to be obese, have been obese or be a very close relative, friend or parent of a person that needs your help because they are overweight.
  2. You must be available at least one hour a week to read on and study material that will help you gain knowledge of not only the problems but, the solutions available that you can discuss openly about.
  3. You need no medical qualifications only a true desire to do something about “it”. All the medical advice in the world right now seems to have no effects on the ever growing obesity crisis.
  4. You must be willing to take action, write your own Blog, submit articles to news media groups, start forums on the Internet to raise awareness, write letters to your political leaders, school principals, church leaders, gym owners, physical education activists and all other people willing to listen.
  5. You need to get mad and repeat the old saying,”I am not going to stand for it anymore”, when you get up everyday. I write about it everyday and will not be intimidated by others that ask what my qualifications are. I am a very concerned human being, that is the greatest qualification you can have.

When I started writing this article I asked myself one simple question:”Who do you think you are, to start ranting about something you are not an expert at, have no medical qualifications for, and just might get severely criticized for your ridiculous outpouring of emotions towards something you have little or no control over”.

My answer is very simple,”I Pierre William Trudel am a father, a grandfather and a responsible human being. I owe nothing to some, everything to others but most of all, I must speak my mind to protect my family and all others that are defenseless against this incredible pandemic sweeping the world”.

If you want to know more about what I learned and have a desire to help, follow me.

Food for thought.
