Escalator Injuries and Children

To most adults, escalators usually appear to be an unassuming method of transportation. They allow you to move from one floor to the next without having to climb stairs or wait for an elevator. Many children however, do not understand the dangers of playing on escalators. Each year, countless children are injured on escalators in shopping malls, airports, and office buildings.

Reports indicate that the majority of injuries were caused while the child was not holding the hand of an adult. It is important for parents and guardians to remember to properly supervise children while riding escalators to prevent such complications. Many of the unsupervised children were improperly riding the escalator when the injury occurred and were found to be running, walking, or sitting on the stairs while in motion.

Injuries also occur when the child attempts to step off the escalator, whether they are riding properly or not. Parents would be wise to monitor their children at all times, ensuring their safety. It is a prudent decision to hold your child’s hand, as is assisting them off the escalator at the end of the ride. Guardians should never let their children ride on the handrails, run or jump on the stairs, or sit down while riding an escalator.

Commonly reported escalator injuries to children include: blunt-force trauma from a fall, extremity entrapment, upper and lower extremity injuries, lacerations, avulsions, amputations, and digit fractures. Such horrific trauma can often be easily avoided by common sense precautions on the part of the parent and child.

Falls and entanglement are all-too-common escalator injuries. While adults may be able to better avoid such dangers, young children are at risk due to their curious nature and lack of attention span. It is up to the parent to provide adequate supervision for children under their care, but sometimes escalator harm occurs through no fault of the guardian or child.

Many of the reported injuries were sustained due to negligent maintenance, faulty equipment, and hazardous conditions in the environment. When escalators are not properly maintained, the risk of harm to an individual rises dramatically. Property owners should have consistent maintenance and repair schedules in place to ensure the safety of their guests and patrons.

Are You at Risk of a Sore Throat on One Side?

When was the last time you got a  sore   throat ?  Sore   throats  on one side are really irritating, especially if they persist for one whole week. You can’t talk, you can’t breathe well, and you can’t drink. What else left can you do while suffering from this allergy of the throat? Truly, a  sore   throat  on one side or the other is so discomforting that you want to zip your mouth just to avoid inhalation, which takes oxygen inside your system via the throat. Oxygen adds more fuel to the fire, thus your  sore   throat  gets worse. Before it all ends here, early detection of having risks of  sore   throats  can lessen the odds. Read on to know if you’re at risk of having  sore   throats  on either one side or as a whole.

Many people suffer from  sore   throat  in one point of their lives. Young and old, there are no particular exemptions when it comes to throat or pharynx allergies. Well, what are the symptoms of  sore   throats  on one side? It may vary, actually, according to the pain and soreness of your throat. However, the most common symptoms are difficulty in swallowing, therefore you can’t ingest anything even water. Second are white pusses or patchy spots that may appear once the pain is felt. Other symptoms include skin rashes, vomiting, nausea, severe headache, sharp or piercing throat pain, occasional fever, and aching tonsils. In severe cases, there are some patients who experienced soreness in both ears and the nasal cavity. Swollen lymph nodes beneath the jaw and along the neck also indicate infections.

Knowing these indicators, however, still can’t guarantee you a  sore   throat-free  environment. What causes it on one side or infections of the whole pharynx? Commonly, inflammation of the throat is caused by bacterial exposure, which often leads to infection. Nonetheless, common colds, chicken pox, flu, measles, tonsillitis, diphtheria, and mononucleosis are also contributors to an infuriating one on one side. Swollen tonsils are considered as the major source of soreness of the throat, most likely if you suffered from flu and still recovering from a total endocrine inflammation.

How would you know the risks? Just as an old adage says, you learn best from your experiences. It teaches a lesson that no prescription or medicinal book about it can do. So from them, you will be able to sense whenever you’re already exposed to risks. On the other hand, proper education and guidelines from your physician is a must. You are required to follow all instructions given, and being frequently reprimanded is absolutely intolerable.

Whether they ache on one side or it inflicts pain to your whole throat, is very galling. You won’t even be able to speak; otherwise you’ll just make things worse. All you need to do is to patiently follow the dos and don’ts of a normal patient. Replenish your food tube with water and vitamins. Speak less for the meantime. Avoid yelling, and never drink something cold. Always remember that it is easy to prevent than to cure, so you won’t end up like this if you know the risks from the start.

Canine Influenza – Is There Such A Thing?

Canine influenza is generally not a stand alone problem. Symptoms similar to influenza in humans tend to accompany other complications according to the breed.

For example Greyhounds and Great Danes tend to be disposed to pneumonia. These breeds have narrow chests, indicating their susceptibility. Those breeds who have wider chests, such as the Bulldog are more disposed to limit their respiratory problems to the upper chest.

Influenza symptoms can include any one or more of the following symptoms:

rhinitis – inflammation of the nasal membranes leading to a discharge

sinusitis – signs can be difficult to see because congestion is felt rather than seen, but conjunctivitis normally accompanies this condition

tonsillitis – an inflammation of the tonsils may mean the throat is sore, with pain on swallowing, which may lead to refusal of food

laryngitis – an inflammation of the larynx is mostly localised and can result from excess barking rather than from a form of influenza; the bark sounds hoarser than normal

kennel cough – is a common problem where there are a number of dogs living in close proximity, usually under stressful conditions such as at kennels, away from home

Other respiratory problems that are more serious than canine influenza include bronchitis, bronchiectasis, pulmonary oedema, pneumonia and pleurisy.

Drooling and/or retching can accompany tonsillitis.

Kennel cough is characterised by, not surprisingly, a frequent cough.

Distemper has a number of stages which include a respiratory stage:

the initial stage can show up as an unusual nervousness, anxiety or excitability

the second stage normally has coryza (nose discharge) and lachrymation (eye discharge)

the third stage exhibits respiratory symptoms

then there are stages of gastro intestinal symptoms, skin symptoms, the nervous system and finally eye complications such as ulceration of the cornea

Canine influenza is not a problem in its own right, although the symptoms can look like it.

However, what is common to all these problems are your dog’s immune system. Your dog will not have any ailments when he has a strong immune system, respiratory or otherwise.

A strong immunity comes from a variety of important areas.

immune boosting health care

living in harmony with his evolutionary needs, which includes limiting unnecessary stress

making sure your health is good as dogs are good at taking on your problems

When the diet is as close to that of his ancestors, as is practical for most people, then this will surpass all other diets.

When his health care doesn’t suppress his symptoms, but rather supports his body’s best efforts, his immunity will grow ever stronger. Natural health care, especially homeopathy probably offers you the best dog (and human) health care there is.

When he lives in an environment that supports his strong instinctive needs, his stress levels will be as low as they can be.

It’s really down to you and your actions. Along with all other health problems, canine influenza is not something to worry about when you care for your dog holistically – for all his needs, whether they are physical, emotional or mental.

Type 2 Diabetes – Diabetics And Infections

Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disorder characterized by high blood sugar which affects many systems in the body, one of which is the immune system. This means people with diabetes are more prone to infections because high blood sugar levels weaken the immune system. Some diabetes-related health issues like diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage) and decreased blood flow to the extremities also contribute to the development of these infections.

Some of the more common diabetic infections include foot complications, urinary tract infections and yeast infections.

Diabetic neuropathy causes a lack of sensation in the lower extremities, which means foot injuries can easily go unnoticed. If these injuries are left untreated, they get infected. Some types of neuropathy can also cause skin dryness leading to cracks and fissures of the foot. These splits in the skin allow for the entry of infections into the body from such areas of origin as foot ulcers and calluses. Decreased blood flow to the extremities also hampers the normal immune defenses and promotes infection.

People with diabetes spend more days in the hospital with foot infections than with any other complication. At some point in their lives, approximately 15 percent of people diagnosed with diabetes will develop a foot ulcer.

High blood sugar levels cause an increase in sugar in the urine as the body attempts to remove the excess sugar via the kidneys. This serves as food to the bacterial cultures in the urinary tract. Most often, bacteria E coli causes infection. When an increased bacterial growth develops in the bladder it causes a urinary bladder infection called cystitis. If cystitis is left untreated, bacteria can migrate from the bladder to the kidneys. Once there, it can cause kidney infections known as Pyelonephritis.

Yeast cells (candida albicans) that occur naturally on the skin and mucus membrane, can enter the body through the insulin injection site. Once the yeast cells enter the blood stream, they interfere with the normal defense mechanism of the white blood cells. When the white blood cells get impaired, the yeast cells replicate unchecked, causing yeast infections.

High blood sugar levels also serve as food for the candida albicans and work to promote the infections. The common yeast infections in diabetics include:

  • vaginal yeast infection,
  • oral thrush,
  • skin, and
  • nail-bed infections.

The untreated yeast infection can even enter the bloodstream causing a life-threatening systemic yeast infection.

Diabetics are usually advised to maintain close diligence of their skin at all times. Any cuts or sores should be closely monitored so that they do not develop into infections. If they do, your doctor should be notified immediately. Some infections of the feet can increase into such severity that amputation is necessary.

You feet should be checked at every visit by your doctor. If you have a problem with your feet, such as ingrown toenails or a fungal infection, your doctor should immediately refer you to a foot specialist, preferably one experienced in treating people with diabetes.

Gestational Diabetes Information

There are 3 Types of Diabetes; Gestational Diabetes, Type 1 Diabetes, and Type 2 Diabetes. Gestational Diabetes occurs only during pregnancy and usually goes away after delivery. If untreated it can be fatal for the infant or fetus.

Gestational Diabetes is caused by hormones produced by the placenta that can cause a resistance to the effects of insulin. As the placenta grows so does the level of this hormone. Usually the pancreas will produce more insulin but in some cases it can’t keep up thus resulting in gestational Diabetes.

There is a greater risk for gestational diabetes if the woman has a personal or family history of diabetes or has previously had gestational diabetes. Also if the woman is older than twenty five, and if she has excess body fat or suffers from obesity. It usually develops within the second trimester or twenty weeks into the pregnancy.

Signs and symptoms in most cases are unnoticeable but in some cases increased urine production and excessive thirst and fatigue develop. The complications that can occur for the baby if the disease is left untreated can be lethal. These complications include the baby growing too large because of the extra glucose causing the baby to produce too much insulin resulting in a c-section birth or the baby getting stuck in the birth canal possibly sustaining injuries. Other complications for the baby are Respiratory distress syndrome, jaundice, low blood sugar and the later development of Type 2 Diabetes, and maybe even death. Complications that affect the mother include preeclampsia and eventual development of other forms of diabetes.

Gestational Diabetes can be prevented and treated with regular exercise and a balanced diet of fruit and vegetables and vitamins the body needs. focus on foods with low calories and fat and no wheat gluten.Sometimes medication is needed to aid in the treatment of Gestational Diabetes. Diabetic supplements can help in the prevention of this disease.

Try spending at least thirty minutes a day on physical activities such as aerobics, running, walking, jogging, swimming, hiking, bicycling, lifting weights, or doing pilates. Regular exercise plays a vital role in preventing and treating gestational diabetes as well as many other diseases. Paired with proper nutrition it can boost your immune system and help fight off disease and infection both related and non related to diabetes. Also ask your doctor about Diabetic supplements and vitamins.

Obesity Statistics

The most recent research statistics on growing obesity disclose a dangerously overweight world population. During the last 10 years, there was a dramatic increase in obesity in the world, especially in the United States, England, and Canada. Over the years, the occurrence of obesity has also steadily increased among all genders, ages, all education levels, and ethnic groups.

Obesity is a severe health condition where a person accumulates an abnormally high proportion of body fat. This condition can increase risk of diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, hypertension, sleep apnea, and osteoarthritis. The body mass index (BMI) is the common method used to determine obesity and is based on the relation between height and weight.

Obesity research shows that the condition of obese increase with age. Around 28% of men and 27% of women aged 16-24 are obese in the world. But, about 76% of men and 68% of women between 55 and 64 of ages are obese.

According to the American National Center for Health statistics, between 1962 and 2000, the number of obese people in the US raised from 13% to an alarming 31%. Today, about 63% of Americans are overweight (men and women are about equally represented) with a BMI of 25 or more.

Around 31% of US people (supplementary to overweight) are obese with a BMI in excess of 30. Compared to the past two decades, the percentage of childhood obesity in the US has more than tripled. If this trend continues, it is predicted that at least 1/3rd of US adults will be obese by 2020. The US surgeon general report reveals that morbid obesity is liable for thousands of deaths every year.

In England, approximately 46% of men and 32% of women are overweight (a BMI of 25-30), and an extra 17% of men and 21% of women are obese. Since the mid-1980’s, the number of adults who are obese has doubled. According to the 2002 statistics, about 13% of 8 year olds and 17% of 15 year olds in the UK were obese.

Eczema in Children – Is This Skin Rash Eczema?

Eczema or atopic dermatitis is a familiar skin condition that primarily arises in children of age two to six. While the condition initially present as a  rash  on the skin that is attended by itching, it is significant to recognize the symptoms of eczema so that correct cure can be utilised and so that the condition is not misdiagnosed.

Rashes  and eczema are parallel in the reality that they both present with red, prickly parts on the skin. Though, in the case of eczema this spot is also escorted by small smacks and dry skin. In addition, unlike a  rash  that can transpire on some part of the body, eczema typically first presents on the cheeks or forehead of a child. Once the eczema inflammation is recognized it can then multiply to the rest of the body.

One more way to distinguish between a  rash  and eczema is to observe the harshness throughout the treatment. While an irritant openly causes a  rash  it will cure up somewhat quickly with medicated creams. Eczema, on the other hand, does not react well to usual  rash  prescriptions and needs management of its own for true development.

Given that distinguishing among  rash  and eczema is hard, it is recommended that you seek a medical professional, particularly if the area is not retorting to initial dealings.

Seeing as eczema is considered a hereditary condition, should you or a member of the family endures eczema, your child will most likely too so the primary step in making an accurate diagnosis is a total medical history. Apart from this, your specialist will also want to inspect the  rash  to look for eczema warnings.

When probing the  rash  the doctors will look at the manifestation of the  rash , the region the  rash  originally appeared, and the harshness of the  rash . Your baby might look for signs of dry skin and skin sizing. The doctor will also enquire how long the  rash  has been there to rule out conditional  rashes  caused by regular irritants. Finally, he will look for the signs of lichenification- a solidifying of the skin that is common in eczema sufferers.

In a quantity of cases the doctor may also directs blood examination to excapt other medical conditions or allergies before the administration of an analysis of eczema. Once eczema is resolute, nevertheless, treatment can start.

What is a Cold Sore?

Most people don’t ask this question until they are dealing with the ugly  sore  on their face– and at that point they are desperate to find out what the  sore  is and how to stop it.

Cold  sores  are caused by the Herpes virus, and they are a common occurrence. Many people contract the Herpes virus at some point in their life, and once a person has contracted the virus there is no getting rid of it. The virus will always stay within the body, even when there aren’t any visible  sores . When the virus is dormant, you will not be experiencing an active cold  sore  outbreak, but the virus can still be passed on to other people.

The Herpes virus is passed from person to person though close contact. Usually it is because of skin-to-skin contact (such as kissing), or sharing personal items such as a razor or toothbrush. It is more common for this condition to be passed by skin contact, so if you know that a person has the Herpes virus it is a good idea to avoid close contact with that person if you have not yet contracted the virus.

Some people experience cold  sore  outbreaks more often than others. For example, some people are constantly battling cold  sore  outbreaks on a regular basis– it seems that the  skin  heals for a short time, only for a new outbreak to begin within a few weeks. Other people only experience cold  sores  every now and then such as every few months or even every few years. And some people carry the virus, but they do not have active cold  sore  outbreaks. It is hard to say why people experience the  sores  differently, but there are a few things that can be done to treat the cold  sores  and also prevent future cold  sore  outbreaks.

Cold  sores  begin under the  skin , the first symptoms are usually a tingling or burning feeling on the lip or around the mouth area, and then that area begins to swell. As the  sores  are developing, small blisters begin to form– and eventually the small blisters will grow large enough to connect and form one large blister. At some point the blisters will begin to ooze, and then the  sore  will crust over. It is a good sign when the  sore  crusts over, because that means that the cold  sore  is healing.

If you have an active cold  sore  outbreak, it is a good idea to avoid touching the affected area. Also, do not pick at the scabs or pop the blisters, because irritating the  sore  will only increase the healing time– which means that you will have the ugly  sore  on your face for longer. There are also cold  sore  treatments that can be done in order to help speed up the healing time and also prevent future cold  sore  outbreaks.

Genital Psoriasis

The skin regeneration cycle of the psoriasis suffer is vastly accelerated and, instead of taking 28 days, this happens in just three to four days. As a result new cells move to the surface before they are fully mature and clump together forming plaques which become inflamed due to the presence of white immune cells under the skin.

Flexural or inverse psoriasis affects areas of the body where the skin is folded or rubs together, such as the armpits, between the buttocks or in the groin.

As it is the result of a defect in the immune system, there is no way to prevent genital psoriasis. At times it worsens and at others it improves. The condition can just occur spontaneously or it may accompany similar patches elsewhere on the body.

Psoriasis which presents anywhere on the body can be due to many factors, including stress and an allergy to washing detergents. Specialists advise washing with an aqueous cream or emollient, rather than soap, as this helps to maintain the natural Ph balance of the skin.

The genital variety can also be triggered by tight clothes which rub the skin, contraceptives – sheaths, caps and spermicides, sanitary towels or tampons, harsh toilet paper, thrush or sexual intercourse.

Unlike other forms of psoriasis, the genital version is non-scaly and appears as reddish-white bumps in the creases between the thigh and groin. The skin may crack and feel tight and sore especially at the edges where it meets normal skin. It can cause discomfort and difficulties with sexual relations.

Because they feel embarrassed about this condition, some sufferers may worry that it is a sexually transmitted disease and can often be reluctant to seek medical attention, even though this is not the case and it cannot be passed on to other people.

The penile plaques can affect both circumcised and uncircumcised males, appearing as small, red patches on the glans or shaft.

In women, it is found under the breasts, between the buttocks or in the groin. The mucous membranes and urethra are not usually affected and vulvar psoriasis normally presents as a non-scaly, smooth redness on the outer skin of the vagina. Scratching this area may cause an infection, produce dryness, and result in thickening of the skin and further itching.

When the condition is on or near the anus, it is red, non-scaly and prone to itchiness. Possible confusion with yeast, infections, haemorrhoidal itching, and pinworm infestations can complicate the treatment, requiring a rectal examination and skin cultures to confirm which condition is actually the culprit.

Because the skin in the buttock crease is less fragile than that in the groin, it can present as either scaly or non-scaly.

If you suspect that you may have genital psoriasis, you should visit your doctor as normal steroid treatments may be too harsh for this delicate skin. The warm moist conditions of the genital area allow the cream to be absorbed more easily so the symptoms can be relieved with a lesser strength of treatment.

There are also many herbal treatments which have far fewer side-effects as well as additional health benefits.

Fingernail Fungus

The symptoms are usually thickening or softening of the nails, it might also cause discoloration. Often times, this fingernail  fungus  can be a very difficult condition to manage and can also cause some serious damage to the person’s fingernails which could eventually lead to nail loss. The thing with nails is that they make a great barrier against infections; however, once infection ( fungus ) managed to get through it the same protective barrier can make it very difficult for us to treat the problem.

Other things that might worsen the infection include acrylic nails and nail polish that trap moisture within the nails. The  fungi , as we all know, thrive in moist and damp areas. Is fingernails  fungus  contagious? Yes, it could be contagious. The organisms that cause the infection can often spread from one person to the next because they live where the air is moist and where people’s feet are bare (such as in public pools and beaches). Even the simple sharing of a nail file can help spread the infection so as a precaution, do not share nail files.

So, how does one treat nail  fungus ? Of course, prevention is the best treatment. As such, you should always keep your nails well groomed and your feet well ventilated and dry. As much as possible, stay away from artificial nails and be sure that the tools used by your manicurist are well sanitized. You should find out if they do sanitize their tools and if not, then its time to find yourself a new manicurist. If you have the infection already then you can try various treatments such as topical creams like lotrimin, monistat, nizoral, lamisil and tinactin.

If those don’t work then you should seek more potent medications which your health provider would prescribe for you. Keep in mind that your nails can say a lot about your current health condition. Healthy nails are often signs of a healthy well being. So do pay attention to them and give your nails the proper care they deserve.

Dog Allergy – Food Allergy In Dogs

There are many different types of dog allergies, food allergies being the third most common and affecting about 10% of all domestic dogs. Contrary to popular belief, it is not the colorings and additives in dog foods that can lead to dog food allergies, but instead it appears to be foods that are not natural to dogs such as cheese and tuna, and also an excess of proteins in protein-rich foods.

However, that does not explain all allergies in dogs relating to foods, since many dogs can take a severe allergic reaction to foods specifically designed for dogs. It would appear that just as humans have allergies to nuts, fish, eggs and so on, a dog allergy, food-related or not, can be equally random in the way individual dogs react to it. So how can you diagnose such allergies?

Dogs react to food allergies in many different ways although the general reaction is scratching. Most dog allergies irritate the dog’s skin, and so, just as we do with an itch, the dog will scratch. However, should a dog allergy become severe, it can go beyond scratching and bite or even gnaw at the offending area of its skin. The physical result can be a loss of hair and inflammation of the skin as the immune system does its work to increase blood flow to affected area, and eventually react to any bacterial infection that can arise from the dog breaking the skin.

However, with regard to a dog allergy, food will naturally pass into the digestive system, and a true allergy will tend to cause loose stools or even diarrhea, and also vomiting in many cases. Even in the absence of these rather extreme effects, the dog’s bowel movements will be more frequent, and there might be sneezing, coughing, nasal discharge, loss of appetite and anal irritation.

Your dog might sit down and pull its nether region along the carpet to ease the anal itching, and many dogs will also have significant ear infections when they suffer a food allergy. It is important that you consider all of these symptoms together, rather than in isolation, because each in itself could indicate another health condition or even a different allergy However when taken together, it should be possible for you to diagnose a dog allergy – food related rather than for any other reason.

Flea allergies and other topical allergies display some of these symptoms, but not them all, and the same is true of atopic allergies such as dog hay fever. Only a canine food allergy will display them all, and then you can consider how to help your dog with his or her diet. Your dog eats what you provide, and your ‘best friend’ relies upon you to provide food that it enjoys eating and that is safe to eat. Once you have diagnosed a dog food allergy, you can certainly do something to help.

First, dogs rarely develop an allergic reaction to food overnight, so this situation will likely be connected with some change in his diet, or something your dog has been eating without your knowledge. In order to establish the root cause of the problem, you might consider any changes you have made to your dog’s diet lately – have you found a less expensive deal on dog biscuits, or maybe made a change to its canned food?

Whatever the cause, it would help you and your dog significantly if you could identify the change to its diet since the problem was first noted. A dog allergy food-related problem often occurs due to animal proteins, such as turkey, chicken, pork or cheese and other dairy products that have been fed to it as a ‘treat’ – often at some family get-together event when you have guests who might ‘feed the dog’ with tidbits at the table.

You are best to keep any pets out of the house or in a different room at such times, because this kind of protein-rich food that your pet is not used to is a common cause of food allergies. So what is the cure if you believe your best friend to have a dog allergy, food related rather than caused by some other allergen?

You can try to determine which food is the cause of the problem, or get the dog back to the food he has been eating until you noticed the problem. Have you changed his diet lately? Has she been disappearing for a while and then seemed not to be as hungry as normal later? Follow her and see what she is getting up to. You could feed your dog the normal food that he has been reacting to, and then remove one ingredient at a time until you identify what is causing the problem.

Any dog allergy – food related or not – can be serious because your dog will scratch and bite and gnaw at its skin until it is severely infected. So find the cause and deal with it.

PMS Relief For Women

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a group of symptoms that start one week before a woman’s menstrual period. It can be characterized by moods swings, tender breasts, food cravings, fatigue, irritability, and depression. The symptoms go away after the period starts. For some women the symptoms are severe enough to interfere with their normal lives. These symptoms are more likely to be bothersome to women in there late 20’s and early 40’s and they tend to occur in predictable patterns. Yet the physical and emotional changes a woman experience with PMS may change in intensity in some months.

The symptoms of PMS include tension, anxiety, depressed mood, crying spells, mood swings, irritability, anger, appetite changes, food cravings, trouble falling asleep, social withdrawal, and poor concentration. Physical symptoms include joint or muscle pain, headache, fatigue, weight gain from water retention, bloating, breast tenderness, acne flare ups, constipation or diarrhea. Most women only experience a few symptoms not all of them at a time.

For some women the physical and emotional stress from PMS can be so severe that it will interfere with normal activities but symptoms normally go away after the period has started. Women with severe pre menstrual syndrome that have disabling symptoms may have a disorder called premenstrual dysphoric disorder or PMDD. Symptoms include severe depression, feelings of hopelessness, anger, anxiety, low self esteem, difficulty concentrating, and irritability or tension.

The causes of premenstrual syndrome are not known. But there are several factors may contribute to the condition. Changes in hormones seem to be a major cause because symptoms change with hormone fluctuations and disappear with menopause or pregnancy. Chemical changes in the brain may be a culprit as well. Fluctuations in serotonin play a role in mood states and this could trigger symptoms. Lacking serotonin could be the cause of food cravings, sleep problems, fatigue, and premenstrual depression. Some PMS symptoms could be linked to low levels of vitamins and minerals.

If you have very little luck trying to mange you’re PMS with life styles changes and they are severe enough to interfere with your normal life it may be time to see a doctor. Keeping a record of your signs and symptoms can help you and your doctor find a treatment that is best for you. Note the day you start having symptoms what they were and how bad, and do this every day till they stop. You should keep record of at least 3 periods.

Try some life style changes before you go to the doctor to get prescription medication. Changing your diet can help if you eat smaller meals, limit salt intake, eat more fruits and veggies, foods high in calcium, taking a multivitamin, and avoiding caffeine. Recognizing Depression

Depression is a serious issue. There are simply hundreds of thousands of people who deal with depression on a daily basis. Are you one of them? Do you know someone that may be? How can you recognize the signs of depression? How can you help someone who may be facing depression within their lives?

While there are many forms and levels of severity in depression, one thing is for sure. Depression causes negative effects on the way a person lives, the way a person is perceived, and the stability of their well being. But, what are some signs that a person you love, or maybe even yourself, is suffering from depression? There are many things that you can look for. Some basic things are listed here.

Does the person seem withdrawn from their normal activities?

Do they seem unhappy with things that have made them happy before?

Do they stay home rather than do something that they once considered fun?

Does the person seem to be pulling away from close friends and relatives?

Does the person feel isolated, hurt, and alone?

There are many other things that you can look for in individuals who may be experiencing depression. The most important thing that you can do is to talk to them, get them to talk to someone they can trust, or to see their doctor. Fast Phobia Cure Technique Explained

The fast  phobia  cure promises to cure any fear or  phobia  in a handful of minutes. Which sounds incredible. Especially if you’ve been told by your hypnotist or therapist that it will take lots and lots of sessions, spread over weeks, months or even years, before you start to even begin to overcome your fears. But if you’ve been told that your  phobia  will last almost forever, chances are that your chosen professional either doesn’t know about the fast  phobia  cure technique or, cynically, doesn’t want the loss of future income.

The fast  phobia  cure technique is a process that re-sets the way your brain works.

Before I explain the technique itself, let’s examine how our brain works most of the time. Not the learning rocket science side of your brain, more the other everyday stuff that it does literally all day long.

Early in our lives we learn things all the time. Breathing starts immediately as do other bodily functions. But almost everything else we have to learn: crawling, walking, listening, speaking, riding a bike, and so on.

We also learn to remember how to do things.

It would be really slow and awkward if we had to re-learn how to open a door every single time we came across one. So our brain goes through a series of steps that it’s learned and that work on 99% of doors we’re ever likely to encounter.

We use these shortcuts all the time for near enough everything we do on a regular or even irregular basis.

And that includes our fears and  phobias . With good reason.

Way back when we were evolving, our fears were likely very real and very dangerous.

That sabre toothed tiger was never likely to curl up and purr in front of the fire. It was more likely to use us for its next meal. Not the kind of thing you’d have wanted to re-learn to avoid every time you encountered one.

Our modern mind is unlikely to come across these threats but deals with similar worries in exactly the same way. It learns once, often at a very early age, that spiders are scary things (because mum screams when she sees one, so it must be true) and then keeps that belief.

The fast  phobia  cure technique works by literally erasing these learned responses to our fears and  phobias  so that we can re-learn them with our – hopefully more rational – adult mind.

Our brain has neural pathways – kind of a freeway equivalent – for these learned responses and the fast  phobia  cure technique scrubs them out so that we can no longer use that short cut and must recreate a new one.

Most times the technique is used, you’ll be taken into a relaxed state, which is always a good idea when  phobias  are likely to rear their ugly head.

You’ll then go backwards from the end of the scary event – where you came out of it alive and kicking – to before it even started – where it hadn’t even crossed your mind that it was something to be scared of.

You’ll do this several times in your minds eye, as though it was playing back on a cinema screen or large television.

You’ll also fade it out to black and white, or at least pretend that’s happening. This doesn’t have to be a vivid screening.

And you’ll maybe make it sillier, something that no-one could take seriously, by adding a soundtrack of something like circus music or a Laurel and Hardy soundtrack.

Once you’ve done that a few times, that’s it. The fast  phobia  cure technique has done its magic.

Try it for yourself – you can lose your fears and  phobias  super fast. Not to mention all those therapist bills.
