Penis Rash From the Hot Tub

Nothing feels quite so good after a physical workout – or even just after a hard day at the office – than sinking into a nice hot tub (HT) and feeling those jet sprays pulsing against the skin. Whether it's a HT in the privacy of his backyard or bathroom or a communal HT at a gym or spa, the feeling of relaxation and pleasure can not be beat. But, while HT's are definitely enjoyable, sometimes a guy leaves a HT with his penis health affected – even if he's not aware of it right away. For example, there are times when a penal rash is directly related to having spent time soaking in the spa tub.

According to one 2015 study, more than five and a half million American homes had a hot tub. Perhaps not surprisingly, they are most commonly found in states where the weather tends to be warm. Texas homeowners owned almost 500,000, people in Florida accounted for more than 300,000 and the state of California led them all with almost 1,200,000.

Of course, there also are "public" hot tubs, which are often found at places like gyms or spa resorts. Some of these can be quite large and accomodate an impressive amount of people.

Privately owned hot tubs are often associated with sexual activity. When alone, many couples enjoy using the tubs naked, and the pulsating jets of water can easily lead to arousal and sexual play. (The same can be true of public tubs, but acting on that arousal in a public situation can often lead to legal trouble.)

Hot tub rash

Whether naked or not, people need to know that the hot tub they are entering is properly cleaned. Heat and water can be a breeding ground for bacteria, and heat can alsoplete the skin of the natural oils it requires to stay hydrated (even when the source of that heat is water). With the skin dry and unprotected, the bacteria are more likely to gain ground.

One penis rash (which can also be found elsewhere on the body) that can develop in a hot tub that is not properly clean is called hot tub rash (aka pseudomonas folliculitis). This is an infection of hair follicles; Although it is most commonly used from an unclean hot tub, it can also occur from an unclean swimming pool, using a loofah sponge that contains the bacteria or wearing a diving suit or swim clothes that are infected.

The penis rash develops near hair follicles and is small in size, red or pink in color, and often has pus-filled bumps. In addition to the penis, they may show up almost anywhere else on the body, though rarely on the face. Sometimes the rash is accompanied by a slight fever, tiredness, a headache and a sore throat.

The rash generally appears 1 to 4 days after exposure and usually resolves on its own in 1-2 weeks.

Tub maintenance

To prevent hot tub rash, the tub needs to be regularly and adequately cleaned. The proper amount of chlorine needs to be used to effect kill harmful bacteria. If a tub has a bad smell or exhibits signs of plant growth, it is likely not receiving proper maintenance.

A penis rash from the hot tub may sometimes require an antibiotic crème from a doctor. The itchiness accomplicing it is often alleviated through use of a first rate penis health crème ( health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin ). The ideal crème will contain both a natural hydrator (vitamin E is an excellent choice) and a high-end emollient (soothing Shea butter is desirable). In addition, check that the crème also contains vitamin A. This vitamin has anti-bacterial properties that may help dampen the effects of a hot tub rash.

Explaining the Benefits of Sperm Pills

"Sperm pill" is a term that is commonly used to describe specific male enhancement products. Sperm pills are supplements that have been proven to increase ejaculation fluid, sperm activity, and sperm count during the ejaculation process. Typically, during an erection, sexual arousal causes increased blood flow through the arteries in the penis. These arteries expand, allowing for more blood to enter the penile region, while the veins that control the blood flowing out of the penis simultaneously contract. The hardening effect that this process has on the tissues of the penis is what causes an erection. At the peak of penile arousal, ejaculation occurs, in which the sperm is released from the penis. The larger amount of fluid ejaculated, the more pleasurable the sexual experience, as well as the greater chance for increased sperm count.

Many men end the frustrating experience of a decrease in their ability to experience full erections, suffer from premature ejaculation, or weak ejaculation with ineffective orgasms. All experiences can prohibit sperm count and decrease sperm activity. This is where sperm pills come in. A sperm pill not only greatly enhances the sexual experience in and of itself, but also the ejaculation process.

Male enhancement supplements containing a high level of amino acids assist the body in creating more ejaculation fluid. The benefits of using a sperm pill such as this are numerous. Not only is sperm count increased, but sperm activity is also magnified. Another major advantage is the effect of additional ejaculation fluid on the orgasmic experience, itself. Increased fluid prolongs the orgasm, allowing for a very intense and drawn out experience. Basically, what happens in this instance is the fluid pumps through the penal for a longer duration, which extends the peak of orgasm. Another benefit is that this causes more force behind the ejaculation process, allowing for more likelihood of sperm activity.

There are a few herbal supplements on the market today that have naturally high levels of amino acids as an ingredient. Not only are these remarkable products known to increase penis erection, size, stamina, desire, and performance, they have become leaders in the industry by providing increased ejaculation fluid production.

How to Treat Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms

Vitamin D is a very important nutrient for the body since it has very important functions. This helps in the regulation of calcium and phosphate levels in the blood, it promotes growth of the bones, prevents the occurrence of rickets in children, it protects adults from having osteoporosis and a lot more. When you do not have enough intake of this nutrient, it will result to you having Vitamin D deficiency symptoms.

Vitamin D deficiency or hypovitaminosis D can happen to anyone and it occurs in three situations. The first one is when the body requires more Vitamin D or an increased need of this particular nutrient. This happens to women who are pregnant and breast-feeding and to children who are growing up. The second situation is the inability of the body to synthesize enough Vitamin D for your needs. Those who are at risk for developing hypovitaminosis D are those who do not get enough sunshine, those with dark skin colors, the elderly and some medical conditions which include celiac disease, kidney and liver diseases and Crohn’s disease. The last situation is when you do not have enough vitamin D intake from your diet which occurs mostly in vegetarians and those who don’t eat fish.

Vitamin D deficiency symptoms can be vague which makes it difficult to diagnose for health practitioners. Some may only manifest general aches or body weakness which makes it difficult to identify. It helps however to be aware of the different vitamin D deficiency symptoms so that you can consult your physician if you have them. For babies and children, you will notice that there is poor growth especially for the height, tooth delay, irritability, susceptibility to infections, disorders in the soft skull and leg bones, breathing difficulties, muscle spasms and seizures. For adults, the most common vitamin D deficiency symptoms are body pains that are often felt at the thighs, hips, ribs, feet and pelvis and easy fatigability even if you did not do exhausting jobs. These will worsen as the condition gets severe and it can lead to difficulties with doing simple activities such as climbing up the stairs and even standing up. In some, you will notice that they have a waddling pattern when walking.

Vitamin D deficiency is highly preventable especially if you know that you are prone to developing this condition. Aside from increasing your dietary intake of vitamin D, it is also recommended that you take supplements. However, if you are already diagnosed with this condition, you will have to undergo treatment. The treatment will focus on providing you with vitamin D but the dosage and method will depend on your condition. There are injections that can last for six months and is a very effective treatment. Tablets and liquids come in different doses and these will be given to you according to what your body needs. Once your condition has been treated, you will need to have a maintenance treatment to prevent recurrence of the disease. For this, the dosage of vitamin D will be lower than what you have taken in when you are still under treatment.

Knowing that vitamin D deficiency is easily prevented, it would be better to take precautions before you suffer from this disorder. Increase your intake of this nutrient to avoid the different vitamin D deficiency symptoms.

Diabetic Depression and Obesity – You Can Fight Back

Type 2 diabetic depression and obesity make a three-headed monster, and many of us wake up to that monster every day. The three conditions of diabetes, obesity and depression feed off of each other, sapping our will to change. Many give up before they have begon to fight.

We know that obesity is a problem in four out of five type 2 diabetics. And studies show that diabetics are much more likely to have depression. Some blame this on the stress from the condition, and others find evidence of a link to the chemical changes caused by type 2 diabetes.

Where Diabetic Depression and Obesity Meet

Depression and eating disorders often start in childhood with mental and physical abuse. There are also genetic roots and family habits of poor food choices, and it's hard to sort all these things out.

Depression can be blamed on obesity. Obesity can be blamed on depression. Diabetes can be blamed on both obesity and depression.

Where they meet in you or me, the causes are less important than what you will do about them. You may have slipped into a kind of emotional and spiritual numbness. Depression makes taking care of type 2 diabetes a chore, and you may let your blood sugar go out of control. I know how easy that is to do.

Depression will make diabetic complications worse. Then what happens? The complications of a chronic condition reinforce depression. The desire to change gets lost in a swamp of hopelessness.

Under those conditions, obesity is going to get worse. We were already using food for comfort or some kind of emotional control. Without some very strong will to change, this cycle of diabetic depression and obesity will not be broken.

The Key That Unlocks the Door

Have you seen a picture of a snake eating its own tail? That is what I imagine when I think of type 2 diabetic depression and obesity. To break the cycle begins with the desire to change.

And the desire must be strong and sustained. Emotions are like a roller coaster, going up and down. That's the reason most of us do well for a while and then slip back into old habits. Change will not come this way.

Chop off the monster's head and the cycle is broken. That head is depression. Whatever it takes to end the feelings of hopelessness is what you and I must do. Without hope you will not take any steps to change. Exercise and a healthy diet take energy that you will not have if you are depressed.

Hope is a candle that pushes away darkness. Depression smothers you with feelings of defeat and saps your will, and you will need a strong will to fight diabetic depression and obesity.

In the classic tale of Pilgrim's Progress , the hero gets eaten by an ogre who imprisons him and beats him every day. He despairs of ever getting out, until he finally notices the key hanging around his neck. All the time he was in prison he had the key to his cell, but depression made him forget.

Hope is the key that unlocks the prison. You need hope, the inner knowing that you can change, that type 2 diabetes can be cooked, that you can lose weight and feel better. Until you believe that, you will not do it.

Faith, hope and love are three wonderful gifts from God. The one in the middle, hope, is the one you need to fight depression. You may have faith, and you may know that others love you, but without hope you will not change.

There Is Hope

Hope for type 2 diabetic depression and obesity started for me with family. They accepted me but never stopped hoping. When they started talking about The Biggest Loser it got my attention. There were so many success stories of contestants with type 2 diabetes who got off their medications by the end of the show. I could not ignore that.

Another ray of hope came as I finished my first and second books. The process of creating something pushed depression as for a while. That's why I encourage you to find an outlet for your creative gift, whatever it is. You have one – we all do.

I remember when I decided I was ready to change and not go back. It meant choosing every day to exercise and stay with the food choices I had decided on. It also meant not feeling sorry for myself for saying "no" to something I used to eat before I knew I was diabetic.

The great thing about hope is that when you accept it and begin your journey, hope gets stronger day by day. Small successes like losing a few pounds or walking through a parking lot without leg and hip pain – those feed hope.

But there still must be a daily decision to do the things that improve diabetic depression and obesity. It helps to see my insulin use drop and to know that soon the days of taking blood pressure and cholesterol medication will be over.

If taking insulin continues in spite of all the changes, I will not feel I've failed. Living the rest of my life without depression and obesity will be enough.

Keys to Fighting Diabetic Depression and Obesity

First, face your depression. That's not something you can do alone. You need family or friends that are willing to tell you the truth and hope for you when you have no hope of your own. And if you need professional support, do not hesitate to get it.

If you ignore depression, it will sabotage all your best intentions. Whatever it takes to get out of that dark place, do it. Do not be afraid of doctors for this. You may find that you have a physical reason for depression, and getting treatment will bring you out.

Obesity can be faced and beat a day at a time.I've found that having a weight loss program I share with others keeps me accountable. is free, but there are also Weight Watchers and others that may work better for you.

As with depression, do not try to fight obesity alone. You need a community, even if it is only one or two people. It's going to be a long journey, and your hopes need to be shared and encouraged.

Type 2 diabetes will be with us for the rest of our lives, even if we get to the place of controlling it with diet and exercise. But a chronic condition that makes you stay active and eat healthy things may not be a bad thing entirely.

It's never too late to make the decision to fight type 2 diabetic depression and obesity. You may be an old grandma like me, but you can change even then. Once you have found hope, do not give it up.

Phobia, False Beliefs and Procrastination – The Physical Symptoms of Anxiety and Stress

The physical symptoms of anxiety and stress are enough to knock anyone out. Do something about them before you are out for the count.

Nobody enjoys anxiety. And in some cases it can be debilitating. Reduce or even eliminate anxiety when you apply these techniques to your daily routine.

Fears, phobias, false beliefs and procrastination – these are just a few of the culprits that can cause anxiety. The trick to reducing or even eliminating anxiety is to identify the root cause and to change the belief surrounding it. In many cases anxiety is caused by thoughts and can be treated without medication and with effective life coaching.

Phobia is an overwhelming feeling of anxiety caused by a fear of specific situations or things, such as activities, animals, social settings or a defined space. The main symptom is an excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the situation. Phobias disrupt daily life.

To overcome phobias one must determine the false belief associated with it, eg, the bridge will collapse if I cross it, therefore it is unsafe. The image in the mind is very vivid and real. The mind can not distinguish reality from fiction and when it sees the image – survival is a human instinct so it warns the body of the impending danger – it reacts with anxiety, which is a natural human response. The trick is to replace the negative image with a positive one.

False Beliefs can be misconceptions about one's own capabilities. The belief has the power to build and destroy self-confidence. Low self-confidence can lead to avoiding experiences for fear of failure. The idea of trying something that may result in failure creates an extra amount of stress. It opens the sweat glands and causes a whirlwind of excuses.

But these are the lessons that are invaluable and needed through life. It does not matter if the outcome is positive or negative because in the end the lessons learned from the experience outweigh any experience, which does not require much thought at all. A positive affirmation to counter any false beliefs will help to reduce stress.

Procrastination refers to putting off or delaying actions or tasks until some time in the future. It is a way of not having to deal with the outcome of a particular situation because the image in the mind is a negative one. So the natural human response is to jolt the body with anxiety, warning it of the impending danger.

It is another false belief represented by an image in the mind. The truth of the situation is on the other side. Change the image in the mind and deal with whatever is being avoided – now. Habitual procrastination will turn into guilt.

What Causes Anxiety in You?

Anxiety, fearfulness and fearing are regularly experienced as a normal part of growing up. As children face new or unfamiliar situations, fears arise and sometimes overwhelm. Most of them, they help the child to adapt to the situation, teach them prudence and help them inhibit responses and thus reflect on a situation and learn from it and about it. In this rapidly changing world of ours, children are bombarded with new information, new situations requiring different responses and new people. Learning to adapt to changing environments can be hard for a growing kids especially when rules are different at home, in school, with friends and especially when there are different nationalities involved. This can foster anxieties and fears that can become maladaptive and thus harmful, threatening the emotional growth of a child.

What Causes Anxiety | How It Becomes Pathological Intervention?

Prevalence: Anxiety is one of the commonest diagnosis made at my clinic – whether it is a co-morbid (secondary to a primary cause like learning difficulties) or primary in nature. It is a common problem facing most kids when it is in the playground when peers do not accept them, or in the classroom where lessons seem difficult or at parties when making friends and being included looks like a major crisis.

When do these 'normal' fears become pathological and merit an intervention? When does one need to seek help? Several studies have been done to examine the prevalence of anxiety disorders in children. It is the most prevalent psychological distress in youth and can be seen in up to 20% of children (Strauss 1990). It also negatively affects academic performance and social functioning. Finally, childhood anxiety disorders can run a chronic course well into adulthood.

Normal Fears And Anxieties Of Childhood:

Development Developmental normal anxieties initially present at the age of 7 to 8 months when babies become anxious of strangers. Their stranger wariness, seen at 5 to 6 months turns into fear. Parental proxies soothes the baby.

Pres Preschoolers fear separation from parents and also develop fear of the dark, animals and imaginary situations. Parental reassurance is sufficient to help them through this period.

School School aged children develop more real worries including fears of bodily harm.

Social Social anxieties often develop in teenagers.

When anxieties become dissociated from specific situations or events, when they

became disabling to the point of interfering with social functioning and academic

functioning then they warrant intervention.

What Causes Anxiety | Environmental and External Factors:

There are a number of theories about the origins of fears and phobias. The psychoanalytical view postulates that internal conflict that is not expressed leads to anxieties. Social learning theory proposals that fears and anxieties are learned within the context of the child's environment.

Se Several studies have linked childhood anxieties to excessive maternal anxiety and also early mother unresponsiveness to an infant. Depressed anxious parents were also more commonly associated with anxious children.

Par Parenting styles – overprotective parenting, highly controlling parents linked with cold and undemonstrative parents were seen more often in families of anxious children – 'affectionless control'.

Se Several studies show that environmental stresses especially when linked with a feeling of helplessness or uncontrollability give rise to anxiety.

Environmental stresses include moving and relocation (see box), marital conflict between parents, death or sickness in the family and change in schools.

An Anxiety occurs in 70% of children with dyslexia, ADD and learning problems.

28 28% have associated depression.

Effects of a mobile society

The UAE is part of a very mobile society. Significant proportion of the population change residence each year. For children the move is essentially involuntary. Anxiety is the most common exit. Some of the contributing factors are:

Child Children who move lose their old friends

The They lose the comfort of familiar bedroom and house

L Lose their ties to family, school and community

The They have to make new friends in new neighborhoods and schools

The They have to adapt to new customs and values.

The They have to deal with different academic standards and curriculum that may

lead to a drop in academic performance.

Parents need to prepare children well in advance of any move and allow them to express any unpleasant feelings or misgivings. Visits to their new home prior to the move are useful. Exchange of letters or mails with old friends should be encouraged. Parents should assist the entry of their children into the new community.

The Science Behind Brain Wave Patterns

The human brain is made up of very many cells that are called neurons. These cells use electricity for purposes of communication among themselves. Because, they number billions, the combined effect of these neurons is sending signals at the same time produces very high amounts of electrical activities in the human brain.

This can only be detected using sensitive medical equipments, which measure the brain wave patterns over some certain areas of the scalp. 'Brain wave patterns' is a term that is most commonly used to refer to brain's electrical activities because of its wave-like and cyclic nature.

To get the concept of brain-wave patterns clearly, it is important to understand the nature of frequencies that these wave patterns produce and the mental sate that is associated with them. After the brainwaves were discovered, scientists later discovered that the brain's electrical activities could change depending on the activities that a person is undertaking.

For example, the brainwaves when a person is sleeping are quite different to those of a person who is fully awake. Over the past several years, highly sensitive equipments have made it almost possible to figure out which brainwaves are exactly present and what they signify on the person's state of mind and health.

The different brain wave patterns are associated with certain mental states.

These brain wave patterns have frequency of between 12 Hz and 38Hz. They are associated with them mental state of being broadly awake. This reflects to the mental state in which most of the people are in especially during the daytime when engaged in activities such as walking. Although the mental state of being broadly awake is in most cases uneventful, it is quite important.

It is important to note that in real life, most people lack the beta activity which may cause emotional or mental disorders such as insomnia or depression. The stimulation of beta activity may cause an improvement in concentration, attentiveness, energy levels and emotional stability.

These brain wave patterns have frequencies of between 8 and 12 Hz. The associated mental state is that of being relaxed and awake but not processing a lot of information. You are in the alpha sate state just before you sleep and immediately after waking up in the morning.

On closing your eyes, the brain begins producing more alpha waves automatically. Alpha is generally the goal of the meditators that are experienced. Because alpha is a seriously receptive and highly absorbent mental state, it can also be used for mental re-programming and effective self-hypnosis.

These brain wave patterns have frequency of between 3 Hz and 8Hz. It is associated with extreme relaxation and light sleep. It can be used self-programming and hypnosis by use of suggestions that are pre-recorded.

These brain wave patterns are the slowest, and they have frequency of between 0.2 and 3 Hz. They associated with deep and dreamless sleep. People Delta brain wave patterns have a body that is capable of healing itself and at the same time resetting the internal locks. In this state, you are completely unconscious, and you do not dream.

Laser Away Toenail Fungus

There's never a good time for toenail fungus. It's a year round embargo. For instance, sexy sandals and beach escapades are theorms in summer. No one wants to sit across from someone on the subway who's wearing sandals that display discolored toes. No one wants to be on the beach wondering if they caught a toenail fungus from the lady with yellow toes two towels down, either. During cold weather, this pesky germ can ruin a yoga class or a romantic evening in quicker than anyone can dart under a mat or under the covers.

Getting rid of this problem can be challenging. The usual treatments include harsh liquid medicines that patients paint on their nails like polish. This type of medicine threatens to damage surrounding skin because of seepage. The other option is oral medication. However, it comes with the risk of liver damage. It's an awful decision to have to choose between looking presentable and maintaining a fully functional liver! Seems kind of silly that people are left with so few options to treat this embarrassing problem. No one should ever have to lose liver function to have healthy looking feet. Well, the PinPointe Laser changes everything.

The PinPointe Laser, Up Close and Personal

The PinPointe Laser offers a discreet way to take care of a personal problem that most people want to keep private. This is possible because the treatment takes place in a short amount of time and there's no need for an extended recovery.

The PinPointe Laser utilizes the unique properties of the Nd: YAG crystal, which is a crystal that is used in many lasers including optical lasers. It's highly regarded in the medical field for its exacting performance. The reason it works so well against toenail fungus is because of this exacting performance.

The Nd: YAG crystal allows The PinPointe Laser to penetrate the whole nail. This medical laser is even able to reach underneath the nail, an essential area to treat when it comes to treating this type of germ. Other treatments, such as creams or liquids, often fail to reach the core area of the bacteria. Amazingly, the laser does this without damaging the healthy part of the nail. It also contains the integrity of the surrounding skin. The laser is the most precise form of treatment for unwanted discoloration. No germ stands a chance in its line of fire.

This treatment method is not only more effective than other treatments, but it's more cost-effective, too. A patient treated via the laser usually only requires one treatment. There's typically no need for touch-ups, no pills to take, or fluids to apply as a follow-up. Studies show that the laser has an incredible 88% success rate.

There's Gain without the Pain

Pain is always a concern when under any sort of medical procedure. Lasers may seem intimidating, but there is really no reason to be concerned about a light beam. Most patients report nothing more serious than a pin-like prick or a bit of heat when undergoing treatment with The PinPointe Laser. It's not even significant enough to warrant anesthesia.

How to Prevent and Care for a Sprained Ankle

If you run, hike or walk chances are you've sprained your ankle before before you recognize how painful and annoying it can be. Sprains can derail your fitness routine, sports activities or worse and the faster you can heal the better. So what should you do for a sprained ankle to speed recovery and get back to normal as soon as possible? In this post you'll find out exactly what a sprain is, what to do for a sprained ankle and how to protect against them.

What is a Sprain?
Ligaments, which are an elastic structure, keep the ankle bone and joints in place. Their primary function is to protect the ankle from abnormal movement. When working properly, ligaments stretch within their limits after which they return to a normal position.

A sprain happens any time a ligament is extended beyond it's normal limit. In extreme cases, ligament fibers may actually tear. The amount of force applied when you sprain your ankle related to the severity or grade of the sprain.

The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, distinguishing the different severity grades of sprains and some of the symptoms associated with them as follows:

Grade 1 -Minimal tenderness and swelling
Grade 2 – Moderated tenderness and swelling, decreased range of motion, possible instability
Grade 3 – Significant swapping and tenderness instability

* American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons

What to do for a Sprained Ankle
It's always best to consult your physician when you suffer a sprain to be sure it's not a serious tear or that you have not broken a bone.

For a grade 1 sprain many, including the AAOS, recommend RICE

R = Rest. Stay off your ankle as much as possible to let it heal.
I = Ice. Apply ice for 20-30 minutes three times more a day to help keep the swelling down.
C = Compression. Wrap your ankle with compression bandages to support it and keep it moving while healing.
E = Elevate your ankle above your knee whenever you can.
For a grade 2 sprain your doctor may also want to provide you with a splint or other device to support and immobilize your ankle further beyond recommending RICE

For a grade 3 sprain your doctor may consider a cast in order to ensure proper immobilization for longer healing.

How to Prevent Sprains

To prevent sprains:

  • stretch and warm up before each run or hike;
  • stay focused on the trail and look for obstacles and uneven surfaces;
  • be aware of your own body and slow down or stop if you begin feeling pain;
  • wear the appropriate shoes or boots to ensure you have proper support.

Coping with a sprain is no fun but as a runner, hiker and active person you may have to at some point. Being able to treat a sprayer initially with Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation can help get you back on the trail faster with an ankle that's cured and in good shape.

The Narcissist’s Ego Bruises Easily

We all have egos. The ego is the psychological “I” within us, an integral part of our identity. Strong egos are important. They tell us that we are valuable, competent, and solid inside. The ego is formed from early childhood. It develops as a result of positive, consistent, loving interactions with the parent(s). If a child feels wanted and is treated with love and respect, he feels positive and secure about himself. He values his uniqueness as a reflection of his parents’ communication of this to him through their consistent words and behaviors.

Some children have damaged egos. They feel diminished, insecure, and ashamed. They have great difficulty asserting themselves. They stay in the background, unable to speak up for themselves or defend themselves when they have been wronged. Inside they feel fragile, small and insignificant.

The narcissist has a highly inflated ego. He experiences himself as vastly superior, more intelligent, talented, creative, and attractive than others. The narcissist’s sense of self importance has no limits. He is unaware and unconcerned about the feelings of others. All that matters is that he gets what he wants.

His sense of self is grandiose to the point of being delusional. He engages in endless self talk: a running torrent of his brilliant ideas and accomplishments.

“The narcissist expects others to mirror him perfectly…he expects you, in your words, gestures, and actions, to feed back to him his flawless vision of himself.” If the narcissist thinks that you have failed to acknowledge his perfection and superiority, he feels emotionally bruised and injured. Even the smallest oversight on the part of a business partner, family member, spouse or friend is felt by the narcissist as a wound. The narcissist has been slighted. Inside he feels diminished. As a result, he is enraged. Although the narcissistic ego is grandiose, it is brittle. It lacks elasticity and flexibility.

Those who have a healthy pliable ego can tolerate the slings and arrows that strike us all the time. Humor is the soothing balm, the respite, the exquisite poke that allows us to laugh at ourselves. The narcissist may appear to make fun of himself but this is disingenuous. He is not capable of experiencing the joy of a fully developed sense of humor. From childhood the narcissist developed a false self as a result of parental expectations that he/she was perfect and superior to everyone else. Beneath the false facade the narcissist unconsciously feels worthless and fraudulent. The narcissist’s perception that others are not treating him with the ultimate respect and obedience that he deserves, activates the tripwire of his narcissistic wounds and slights.

5 Questions You Need To Ask Before You Have Shoulder Surgery

Each year over 250,000 people in the U.S. alone undergo shoulder surgery. Those who do so include individuals with acute shoulder pain or injury that has severely diminished their everyday functionality without having to contend with some kind of nagging pain. Healthcare providers say shoulder surgery can make a big difference in your ability to retrieve that function, and return to work and play.

Patients are often worried because the shoulder is the most complex and unstable joint in the body and can get injured easily. Many surgeries have been developed to repair the muscles, connective tissue, or damaged joints that can arise from traumatic or overuse injuries to the shoulder.

If shoulder surgery is what you have to do, then check out these 5 questions you should ask before having shoulder surgery.

1. How long will I be out?

The actual surgery takes one to two hours, depending on what needs to be done. Patients typically spend a night or two in the hospital for pain control. Most arthroscopic shoulder surgery patients recover quickly. New minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques and improved instrumentation have allowed doctors to quicken the recovery process. Most surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis. The amount of time you will need to recover depends on the procedure and on your preoperative physical conditioning.

2. What About Rehabilitation?

Rehabilitation begins 1 to 4 days following surgery. The first session is to change your operative dressing and to come up with a plan for your treatment. Surgeons often encourage their patients to move their shoulders immediately after surgery. They say you will be able to move your arm in some directions under your own strength. Remember that surgeons had to cut through certain muscles and re-attach them at surgery. They do not want you to use those muscles until they have healed. Following a specific rehabilitation program with a physical therapist usually means a two to three month rehabilitation, depending on the patient.

3. Does it Matter What Medications I’m taking? It does. It is important that your healthcare provider know what medications you are taking. Your list should include the name of the medication, the dosage of the medication, how many times you take the medication, and at what time you take the medication.

4, Should I Alert My Primary Doctor?

Yes. You may need an EKG to check the condition of your heart, schedule lab work and maybe have an X-ray.

5. What If I Don’t Make it to My Doctor?

Then the surgery will be postponed. Preoperative clearance is vital to go forward with the surgery. In fact, if you fail your clearance test from your primary doctor, the operation will not be scheduled until you do.

Remember to check with your doctor before taking any treatment or medical remedy.

Living After Gallbladder Removal

The gallbladder is a small, pear-shaped sac located below the liver (on the right side of the abdomen) which contains approximately a half cup of yellowish-greenish fluid called gallbladder bile. The bile originates in the liver before moving into the gallbladder, where the bile becomes 4-12 times more concentrated. The healthy, functioning gallbladder then acts as a storage reservoir for concentrated bile before it moves into the duodenum (small intestine).

The main function of bile is to assist the body in digesting fats by dividing the fats into thin droplets. It helps pancreatic enzymes split the fats into small particles that can pass through the walls of the intestines.

When the semi-digested food exits the stomach and moves into the small intestine the gallbladder contracts causing the concentrated bile to move through the bile ducts into the small intestine. Once the gallbladder is removed liquid liver bile flows out constantly from the common bile duct straight into the small intestine instead of being stored in the gallbladder. This low quality liquid liver bile that constantly flows into the duodenum cannot properly digest the fats, causing fat intolerance and diarrhea in some people.

Bile is instrumental in removing dangerous toxins such as bile pigments, bile acids, cholesterol and heavy metals. The antimicrobial property of concentrated gallbladder bile assists in keeping the small intestine from dangerous invaders such as bad bacteria, parasites, and yeasts. Consequently, absence of the gallbladder leads to Candida-yeast and Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) which can create gas and indigestion.

Healthy alkaline bile neutralizes the semi-digested acidic food from the stomach therefore creating the proper alkaline milieu in the small intestine for pancreatic enzymes to work. It is well known that pancreatic enzymes require an alkaline condition in the duodenum to digest consumed food. When the gallbladder bile is not alkaline, indigested foods in the small intestine are fermented causing gas, bloating, abdominal cramps, and uncomfortable visits to the bathroom.

The gallbladder acts as a buffer reservoir to prevent the backup of bile and to prevent high pressure in the bile and pancreatic ducts. This high pressure expands the common bile duct causing pain. Enlargement of the common bile duct is a common finding after gallbladder removal. When there is no gallbladder, the increasing pressure inside the pancreatic duct can cause activation of the pancreatic enzymes inside the pancreas and as a consequence, inflammation of the pancreas can develop.

The liver, gallbladder, pancreas, duodenum, bile ducts, and muscles valves work together due to the perfect regulation of the body. Doctors and researchers have found that cutting the nerve branches surrounding the gallbladder can disrupt the proper work of the Sphincter of Oddi – the valve between the bile and pancreatic ducts and the duodenum. Almost 20% of patients after gallbladder surgery suffer from Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction. Spasm of this strategic valve leads to backup of the bile and pancreatic juices with resultant pain, nausea, and possible development of pancreatitis.

Concentrated gallbladder bile is necessary for intestinal motility, digestion and the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D, E, and K. The lack of gallbladder bile creates less peristaltic movement which makes people prone to constipation.

The main reasons for gallbladder surgery are inflammation and/or gallbladder stones. Removal of the gallbladder does not stop the production of stones and inflammation of the bile ducts. Therefore, inflammation and collection of the stones, both in the liver and in the bile ducts, can be often observed in people without a gallbladder.

Although loss of these functions of the gallbladder is not life threatening, removal of the gallbladder can cause many unpleasant symptoms. For some people life after gallbladder removal is a miserable existence. This condition is called post-cholecystectomy syndrome. The term post-cholecystectomy syndrome (PCS) describes the presence of symptoms after cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal surgery).

What can be done to decrease the consequences and symptoms of post-cholecystectomy syndrome?

Many drug-free and non-surgical healing techniques can alleviate many of these uncomfortable symptoms. Some of them have been widely used for a hundred years all over the globe.

A healing diet is one of the oldest, cheapest, safest and most effective medicines in the world.

Dietary changes are vitally important for a person suffering from post-operative digestive problems.

In a healthy, functioning body the gallbladder, pancreas, bile and pancreatic juices are naturally alkaline. Whole body acidity is one of the main causes of liver, gallbladder and pancreas malfunction. Acidity causes biochemical changes in the bile that makes it corrosively irritating to the bile ducts, sphincter of Oddi and the small intestine. Aggressive acidic liver bile irritates surrounding tissues, causes jerky contractions and refluxes. This aggressive mix of the acidic bile and pancreatic juices regurgitates into the stomach and esophagus and/or causes spasms of the sphincter of Oddi. This can be the cause of the heartburn, nausea and upper abdominal pain often experienced after gallbladder surgery.

An alkaline diet involves eating mostly alkaline-based foods and avoiding acid-forming foods such as sugars, red meat, sodas, dairy products, white flour, white rice, alcohol, etc. A separate diet requires eating only one kind of food at one time. Mixing foods such as salad, soup, entree, dessert, sodas and alcohol together in one meal, like people usually do, causes a huge strain on the digestive system. When people without gallbladders (who don’t have the presence of good quality bile) continue to eat this way, many symptoms of indigestion such as abdominal pain, nausea, belching, gas, heartburn, diarrhea and/or constipation occur.

Typically, people without a gallbladder have two problems: one is Candida-yeast overgrowth, another is food sensitivity. An elimination diet and anti-Candida diet can be very beneficial for these conditions.

In simple chemistry it is known that to neutralize acidity the body needs plenty of minerals and bicarbonates. Unfortunately, food today contains very little of these vital nutrients, so supplementation is a practical way to get them. The easy way to get minerals and bicarbonates is by drinking healing mineral water.

Doctors from Europe have used healing mineral water for hundreds of years. There are many mineral health spas in Germany, Austria, France, Eastern Europe and Russia. Thousands of people travel to these spas for cleansing, rejuvenating and healing procedures. The most researched mineral water with 500 years of use is Karlovy Vary thermal spring water in the Czech Republic. It is difficult to believe that the first medical book referencing the use of this water in digestive problems was written in 1522. From that time, many medical articles, books, and dissertations have described the healing actions of Karlovy Vary healing water mineral for many digestive and metabolic disorders including post-cholecystectomy syndrome. Millions of Europeans have drunk healing mineral water prepared from vaporized genuine Karlovy Vary thermal spring salt at home for more than 250 years.

According to European doctors this mineral water promotes the production and speedy transit of bile, makes it more alkaline and improves the function of the pancreas. All of these actions are beneficial for people without a gallbladder to improve digestion and decrease the symptoms of post-cholecystectomy syndrome.

Cellular magnesium-potassium, another alkalizing agent, also can decrease acidity in the body.

How can we know if our body is acidic or alkaline? Checking saliva and urine pH by litmus paper is the easy and inexpensive way to verify body acidity. If saliva and urine pH are frequently less than 6.6 it can be a warning sign of total body acidity.

Drinking herbal tea can alleviate spasms, gas, heartburn, and indigestion. A knowledgeable herbalist can customize herbal remedies for many conditions. Some formulas from European and Chinese herbal medicines can lessen the amount of stones in the bile ducts, make the liver bile liquid and less aggressive, and decrease spasms and pains.

Persons with post-cholecystectomy syndrome can decrease many unpleasant symptoms by using herbal formulas. They are not a quick fix, but in the long run, herbs are safe and effective remedies.

Some people who have had gallbladder surgery lose the proper interaction between the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, duodenum, and stomach. To normalize this teamwork, one can be treated with acupuncture. Acupuncture is the oldest healing method for digestive disorders. Many medical papers have been published during the last decades that confirm the positive action of acupuncture in the treatment of post-cholecystectomy syndrome. Another positive result of acupuncture is that it can help cure alcohol and pain medication addiction.

Medical science has not yet developed a surgical technique to replace the gallbladder once it has been removed. We can, however, control the terrible symptoms of post-cholecystectomy syndrome by employing various drug-free and non-surgical healing methods. These methods are safe, effective, and relatively cheap and can be used in conjunction with modern medicine.

The Dangers Of Processed Sugars

Americans have an addiction to sugar. On average, Americans consume an estimated 156 pounds of sugar per year. It's not only found in candies, baked goods and other confections but also in the most illegally of places. Canned vegetables, condiments, salad dressings, pastas, gravies, even chicken stock and other foods that do not taste distinctly sweet at all are often loaded with the substance to enhance flavor. This is especially true with "low fat" foods, which are loaded with sugar in the place of fat. Given the ubiquity of sugar in the modern industrialized diet, it can be a challenge to get away from. However, the need to do so has become painfully obvious. Refined sugar is incredibly destructive to the human body and contributions to many of the most common diseases of modern times.

Sugar Feeds Cancer Cells

It's widely known that consumption of refined sugar can promote cancer by causing chronic inflammation and obesity, but did you know that once you have cancer, it actually serves as fuel for the errant cells? Cancer cells grow much faster than normal cells, approximately eight times faster, and this process requires considering amounts of sugar for energy. Take away the sugar and the cancer will starve and become weak. Because people typically have cancer long before they are diagnosed, it's better to simply avoid it at all costs. Those snack cakes might be tasty, but are they really worth your life?

Cold and Flu and Reduced Immunity

Each year, right around cold and flu season, the public is bombarded with advertisements reminding them to get their flu shot and alerting them to great deals on tissues and cough remedies. Have you ever looked at the ingredients on these cough remedies? Most are loaded with sugar. Meanwhile, nobody seems to question why these problems are so common in the first place. It is not a natural thing to get sick every year without fail, and the fact that it does happen means something is very wrong with society's collective health. Science has disclosed in recent years that sugar may be the cause. Sugar has a direct suppressant effect on the immune system that lasts for as long as five hours after consumption. When you consider how much time sugar-eaters spend in public with one another, it's easy to see why these annual epidemics happen. Eating sugar is tantamount to laying out the welcome mat for viruses!

Digestive Diseases

Digestive problems have become one of the most common complaints of Americans in the last few decades and nearly all of them can be traced to an unhealthy, sugar-laden diet. The intestines are home to hundreds of different species of yeast and bacteria, some good and some bad. Many of the harmful microorganisms thrive on sugar, so if you consume a diet high in refined sugar, you are helping them crow out the good yeast and bacteria. When harmful organizations overwhelm your body, a variety of illnesses can result.

Digestive disorders are not the only things that can be caused by dysbiosis, however. Secondary problems like nutritional deficiencies, obesity, chronic fatigue and mood disorders are also common results. Good bacteria consume soluble fiber from fruits and vegetables and turn them into valuable vitamins, especially those of the B group. This particular vitamin group is essential for nervous system health and maintenance, energy production, metabolic support and creating mood-enhancing neurotransmitters like serotonin. Immun insufficiency may also be caused by a poor bacterial balance in the gut. Good bacteria act as guardians of the immune system, protecting it from the bad microorganisms and teaching it to recognize true threats.

Anyone who wants to avoid detrimental effects on their health and well-being is advised to give up refined sugars and processed carbohydrates in all of their forms. These include corn syrups, evaporated cane juice, pasteurized honey, white flours and anything with 'sugar', 'cane' in its name and / or ends is "ose". Although giving up these things Promotes good health, it may not always be enough. If you've been eating a lot of sugar, your populations of beneficial gut bacteria need to be brought back into balance. For this, fermented foods or a high-quality probiotic supplement and are recommended. And be sure to choose a wheat and soy free Probiotic that contains several bacteria strains for optimal results.
