Causes of an Itchy Rash – Why You Have an Itchy Skin Rash?

Today you will learn the causes of an itchy rash and will answer the question why do I have an itchy rash? Are you suffering from symptoms of itchy skin, symptoms of itchy scalp or symptoms of an itchy rash? If so then today’s article will shed some light on the most likely cause and how to identify the reason you’re suffering from it.

Please keep in mind as well, that the following 3 causes are not commonly known in conventional medicine and this is the reason why so many people continue to suffer. Modern medical doctors denounce these causes a great deal out of ignorance, but the bottom line is that these causes have been proven in alternative medicine to be leading causes of symptoms of an itchy rash.

3 Likely Causes of an Itchy Rash

Parasites – Most people don’t realize how common it really is to have parasites in their bodies causing health problems. In fact most people have some form of parasitic infections. It really isn’t that hard either when you consider giardia a common parasite is found in most tap water around the world, including the tap water in 1st world countries like the USA. Various other parasites can easily be picked up from animals and many other sources.

One of the most common symptoms of parasites are skin problems, particularly rashes. It would be wise to take a test or get diagnosed but even better to simply do a parasite cleanse as most blood tests will rarely tell you if parasites are in your body since most will live inside the tissues themselves.

Undiagnosed Allergic Reaction – Many people also suffer from undiagnosed allergic reactions which can result in rashes. Very often these reactions can be a result of foods you eat every day and take for granted such as dairy, wheat, soy, corn etc. Once the food is removed from the diet a change can occur where-by the individual sees significant improvements.

Nutritional Deficiency – Lastly a major cause of an itchy rash is often a nutritional deficiency. When given the proper nutrient often a combination of EFAs, zinc and biotin an individual can see rapid improvements and often their rash will go away.

Other causes of an itchy rash – Two other major causes are ringworm and a yeast infection. These typically occur in the genital area but can also appear beneath the breasts in women and under the arms.

What to do next? The best thing to do would be to have an alternative doctor or naturopath diagnose you as they will be able to identify the problem as well as provide a natural solution as opposed to convention medicine which will only provide answers with drugs. Online tests can also be found to help identify what you’re suffering from.

How to Get Rid of a Cold Sore – 5 Quick Tips

There are many different ways and opinions of how to get rid of a cold sore, some of them involve chemicals, some are natural and some of the things you will hear are just old wives tales that will never work in a million years – the thing is though if you have a cold sore and you want to get rid of it fast then you need to know what will work for you.

Now before giving you some tips that will act fast on your cold sore, I think it may be best to explain a little bit about the condition on the front end so that hopefully with you having an understanding of the condition then you wont have any false expectations about long term treatments or cures.

The reason I mention false expectations is because cold sores are part of the herpes simplex virus family (also known as HSV) and the virus that gives cold sores is known as HSV1. Now, the thing is once you have caught HSV1 you have it for life, so if you are being sold a permanent cure run for the hills as there has not been one developed as of yet. Also whilst we are being on the doom and gloom side I have to give you a word of warning, the HSV1 is highly contagious and while it is lying dormant in your body you can go about life as normal – but, when it breaks out as a cold sore please be respectful of other people by not kissing them or sharing any eating utensils or basically anything that touches your cold sore should not touch someone elses skin.

OK now that we have got all the doom and gloom out of the way, let’s have a look at 5 quick ways how to get rid of a cold sore

1. If you feel a cold sore coming on then the first thing you can do is apply ice to the effected area, this both takes away pain from the oncoming cold sore and slows it right down too as the herpes virus does not like the cold and is repelled by it.

2. Apply something that will help destroy it – you can use an alcohol swab if you want, but I prefer to recommend either honey or tea tree oil as they are both natural and have great antiviral and anti fungal properties.

3. Get some extra Lysine into your diet as this will help combat the virus from the inside. You can do this through your diet or there are supplements available.

4. Witch Hazel Oil is another popular topical treatment which is reported to stop cold sores in their tracks when applied to the effected area.

5. Boost your immune system – the virus lives in the nervous system and attacks you when your immune system is down, so try and keep it boosted by eating a healthy diet and supplementing with vitamins and minerals.

Psoriasis Treatments And Cures

For many of us psoriasis is a name of some kind of a disease we never really had any interest in, and many people live their whole lives without any knowledge of this disease and its devastating effects and psychological strains. For the 3% of the population that is diagnosed with psoriasis the learning and knowledge of the disease is probably critical from the first day they feel that something is wrong, or they notice some rash or redness on parts of their bodies.

Effecting the scalp, face, arms, fingers, hands, lags, back and the bottom of the feet, psoriasis is one of the most difficult diseases people have to deal with, the lack of awareness to this disease and the people who suffer from it make this even more difficult to bare, and the psychological effects can lead into a road from which there is no return, there are not many health people that can justifiably judge and criticize a psoriasis patient.

Common mostly in adult population this disease almost never appears in childhood or adolescence, the psoriasis disease is considered an immunity system disorder that has significant effect on the skin of the patient. What actually happens is that the immune system is producing the skin cells too quickly, a thing that causes the skin to be replaced every other day, which is much faster than usual, resulting in a reddish and flaky skin, that is often incredibly irritated and itchy, psoriasis patients have to deal with constant irritability and itchiness, which by itself is a mental burden that claims a lot of the damage this disease does.

The psychological effects of psoriasis are indeed difficult, in the past many of the psoriasis patients shut themselves out to the outside world, never wanting to go out and expose their obvious disease to their neighbors and friends, in more modern times some psoriasis patients fear the effect of the sun, as this can significantly worsen the psoriasis condition and increase chances of an outbreak, thus refraining from going out at all. Both in the past and the present psoriasis patients are dealt a heavy blow to their sense of self worth, socializing abilities and regular normative everyday life.

The psoriasis disease has its roots in genetics and is hereditary, this does mean that the patients necessarily know anyone in their family who ever had psoriasis, but rather that it did pass on the bloodline. Once diagnosed with psoriasis most patients are encouraged to maintain normal life and embrace a new way of life that includes an enhanced understanding of the disease, paying attention to overexposure to the sun, starting a specific diet and avoiding certain foods to try and decrease the chances of the psoriasis attacking, and taking medicine. Most psoriasis patients look for more help, usually form the alternative and biological medicine, which in some cases do a lot of good.

We all must understand the great difficulties a psoriasis patient faces and try, as a society, to help and encourage these patients to fight back and win, just as science is constantly looking for better medicine and chemicals to solve this problem, we should also increase our awareness to psoriasis.

Nail Fungus – How Do I Get Rid of Nail Fungus?

If you have asked yourself, “How do I get rid of nail fungus?” then you have taken the first step to getting the cure. Medications are the next and but not final step. Nail fungus also known as as onychomycosis, is a microscopic organism that does not require sunlight to live. Nail fungi infections are normally from a group called dermatophytes. In some cases, however, the infection can also be caused by a yeast or mold. It is estimated that over 10 million people in the USA and 2 million individuals in Canada have it.

Toe Nail Fungus Causes

A yellow or white spot may be observed at the tip of the finder or toe nail at the onset of infection. Warm moist environments promote the fungus. This by and large causes toe nails to be affected more then finger nails. Artificial nails can encourage infection by giving it a dark and unvented environment to thrive in. Pedicurists and Manicurists with poorly sanitized instruments can help it to spread. The infection tends to spread to other nails once it is contracted. Care needs to be taken that it doesn’t spread to fingernails when washing feet.

How do I know if I have it? (Symptoms)

If you have the fungi then you will know. Your nail will be flakey, thick, yellow or greenish in color and deformed. If deformed, the nail could also be raised from the nail bed (onycholysis) and the nail may rub against the inside of the shoe. If the nail raises and starts rubbing inside the shoe it can cause pain. White dry material may accumulate between the nail and the nailbed.

How to prevent Nail Fungus

*Wear open shoes or sandals.

*Sweaty socks should be changed immediately.

*Wearing natural fiber socks like cotton will help the feet breath and thus prevent sweating. You might want to use synthetic if you find you feet getting to wet in cotton socks. Synthetic blends may help wick the moisture away.

*Public lavatory floors spread the fungus so you should wear shoes at all times in them.

*Wear flipflops when taking a shower in a public stall.

*File and trim nails short and straight. Keep them dry and clean.

*Avoid faux nails and nail polish.

Risks

If you have diabeties or a weak immune system then you are more succeptable to nail fungus and should make sure you take preventive measures like using antifungal ointment.

Treatments for Nail Fungus

There are many cures but they all take a while to work. Medical experts suggest treatment with pills is most affective. Pills get absorbed by the body and kill the fungus BENEATH the nail from where it started. Pills also have the benefit of treating any other nails where it could have already been spread. Topical creams are used in concert with the pills to increase it effectiveness and decrease healing time. Powders and creams can help stop a repeat of the infection. Pills are usually taken for a few months to suppress the nail fungus until the healthy nail grows out.

Allergy Drops – Another Treatment Option For Allergies

Allergies can interfere with even the most commonplace of daily events; for those who suffer from allergies, even leaving their house during certain times of year can prove nearly impossible. For sufferers, finding effective, long-lasting allergy relief can mean a significant difference in their life. And while many have found great success with oral medications and allergy shots, there is an alternative treatment option that comes with its own benefits – allergy drops.

Allergies are the result of the body’s immune system malfunctioning. When the body is introduced to something that it considers a threat, it reacts accordingly in an effort to rid the body of the toxin. With allergies, the immune system reacts to otherwise benign substances as if they are a threat – pollen, cat dander, nuts, or any other number of elements. To fight what it considers to be trespassers, the immune system releases the chemical histamine that results in the common symptoms of allergies – runny nose, congestion, coughing, wheezing, watery and itchy eyes, etc. In many cases, avoiding the allergy trigger or combating the symptoms with over-the-counter or prescription medication can make a world of difference for the allergy sufferer. But for those who suffer more intense symptoms or are exposed to their allergens on a daily basis, allergy shots have been the effective treatment of choice. But research has shown that allergy drops can be just as effective – and far more convenient – than allergy shots.

Allergy shots are often given once a week and must be injected in a doctor’s office. Further, there is time associated with this visit as the patient is often injected with extremely diluted allergens. The patient must then wait – often at least thirty minutes – before being able to leave the doctor’s office as the doctor must first ensure that the patient is not having any negative reactions. This inconvenience of visiting the doctor – and the discomfort of the injection itself – often causes patients to shy away from pursuing the treatment.

With allergy drops there are no painful injections – simply a drop put under the tongue. This procedure is something that the patient can do themselves at home; doctor visits are reduced to just a few times a year in order for the doctor to follow the progress of the patient. For children who suffer from allergies, the allergy drops can be enormously beneficial allowing them to receive the necessary treatment without having to get a shot once a week.

Allergy drops are but one alternative to the management of allergies on an ongoing basis. For allergy sufferers, they can make a world of difference in keeping symptoms at bay and maximizing comfort levels.

Solutions to Sleep Deprivation Symptoms

Everybody needs to sleep. It can be to rest after a tough day or to rest your mind. It is a good way to get over something even for just a while. A sleep quote from Carrie Snow says, “No day is so bad it can’t be fixed with a nap.” It does not matter how old you are, how rich or how busy, you need a good night’s sleep.

Sometimes, there are reasons why the body refuses to sleep even if you have been lying on your bed for hours. The following are sleep deprivation symptoms. These can also cause a more chronic and serious form of sleep deprivation or insomnia:

– Fatigue and Change in Appetite – Sometimes, being too tired will not help make you fall asleep easier. In fact, it will cause your body to stay awake until you are more comfortable. Lack of sleep also causes a person to eat more or less.

– Memory Loss and Poor Concentration – Lack of sleep impairs cognitive skills. You find it hard to recall things that happened within the same day and you cannot focus properly with work or even inconsequential things.

–   Irritability  and Unresponsiveness – If you feel that you have no motivation to interact with others or you are noticing that even the tiniest thing can set you off, your  irritability  might be due to sleep deprivation.

A famous sleep quote says that “Sleep is for the weak”. Sleep is what makes strong and smart people ready to take on anything the day throws at them. Being well-rested makes the mind alert and the body rejuvenated. Thomas Aquinas even said “Sorrow can be alleviated by good sleep.” If you have sleep deprivation, there are ways for you to fix the problem.

To treat sleep deprivation symptoms, try to go to bed relaxed and comfortable. Many people just jump into bed after a long day. You do not just relax your body while you sleep, you should also relax your mind.

Eat a balanced diet and get regular exercise. A good run will give you a healthy kind of exhaustion. It is not enough to eat fruits and vegetables. You should also eat during the proper time. Avoid eating food close to your bedtime.

If your sleep deprivation symptoms persist, it is time to consult a specialist. Your sleeping issues might be a symptom of a more serious condition. Chronic sleep deprivation could cause hallucinations, memory loss, weight gain or even diabetes. Do not wait for your condition to worsen before seeking a health care provider.

The world’s best people have spoken about the joys and wonders of sleep in quotes now immortalized. According to the Dalai Lama, “Sleep is the best meditation.” It was F. Scott Fitzgerald that once said “The worst thing in the world is to try to sleep and not to.” Do not live with sleep deprivation. Seek treatment, improve your habits and make a lifestyle change!

Teen Depression – Maturity and Deceptions

When you are a child, your parents and grown-ups hide many things from you. The image you have of the world is completely distorted by their over-protection: everything is pink and blue. You believe that your life will always be so colourful and fine. They do everything for you, they tell you that life is beautiful and they fill your mind with many illusions and absurd suppositions about life. You are ignorant and you believe them…

Later, not only do you discover that Santa Claus does not exist but also that many other things in fact do not really exist in the human society, such as love and comprehension. You start discovering bit-by-bit that everything the grown ups told you are lies or distortions of the truth and you feel betrayed. Why didn’t they tell you that things are not easy at all? Why didn’t they properly prepare you to face many failures in life, but only made you believe you would always succeed?

If you start deeply analyzing everything, you’ll realize that your parents were not really the adequate people to raise you. You’ll discover they don’t have any talent in parenting and they should not even have been married because their marriage is a routine where they are well accommodated, even though they are not happy.

If you think about your teachers, you will conclude that they were only doing their job and that the responsibility for your education and the illusions they imposed on you as if they were truths come from other minds, beyond theirs, that decide what you should learn. Then you will see that these people are also dependent on several laws, the mentality of the place where they belong and that nothing really works well in our world, so you must not expect much from anyone. You remember with nostalgia the time when everything seemed to be so beautiful and fine and the people around you always protected you and gave you everything you needed immediately… Then you think about the way your parents treat you now that you are a teen, almost an adult.

They have many expectations: now they demand many things from you. You need to study, be someone, follow the rules, elders, be part of your civilization and its mentality and quickly adapt to everything. Now you cannot stay in your bedroom just playing or fooling around. Now you only have many obligations…

This is only a taste of what your life will really be when you’ll be an adult and you’ll have to work 8 to 12 hours per day and do many other things in order to survive and be accepted by your social environment…

Depending on your character, you may become depressed and feel completely weak with all the challenges that suddenly appear in your way and with all your deceptions, after verifying that real life is not like the fairy tales you used to listen to and trust when you were completely ignorant.

Courage! You can be helped in this situation by a very wise brain that regulates the functioning of your body. This is the unconscious that produces your dreams. The unconscious mind is going to show you the entire truth about yourself, people around you and the world you live in, without hiding anything from you and without distorting reality in order to manipulate you, like most human beings do.

You can trust the wisdom of the unconscious because it is based on sanctity and perfection. It is the result of many billions of years of studies, meditation and practical experiences. In your dreams, you will learn the meaning of your life and how to be happy in this world and how to transform it into a place where everyone will have the chance to be happy like you.

The wise unconscious will help you completely develop your conscience to the point that you will become a genius. You are not using the greatest part of your conscience because it belongs to the anti-conscience that has to be tamed and transformed through consciousness.

As soon as you develop your psychological functions and your conscience becomes totally human, you’ll find many solutions for all the problems caused by previous generations, which are suffocating you today. Your generation will be wise if it realizes that it should help the world regain its human character and save our exploited planet from destruction.

Shyness, Anxiety & Phobia Sufferers – You Are Not Sick!

Finally someone has the guts to say what we in the NLP community have been saying all along. Anxiety, shyness, and social  phobia  are not mental diseases. The new book by Christopher Lane, “Shyness: How Normal Behavior Became A Sickness” exposes the behind the scenes collaboration of the Psychiatric establishment and the Pharmaceutical industry to create “billable” and “perscribable” labels for what used to be considered normal behavior. Lane points out that in the past “shyness” was considered eccentric at worst. Now it is considered a mental disease!

In my private practice as an NLP Master Practitioner I have discovered time and again that shyness,  phobias , severe anxiety and panic attacks are the result of emotionally charged “one time learning events” and anticipating negative outcomes. In other words, these are patterns and habits of thought and focus not sickness. The first time I worked with a  phobia /anxiety client, I simply followed the process taught to me by Dr. Tad James in my NLP Master Practitioner training course.

At 10:00 AM my client could bring himself to the verge of fainting by simply thinking about driving across a bridge. Even uttering the word “bridge” caused his palms to sweat and his face to pale. By 4:00 PM the fear response was gone and he could easily think and speak about bridges, heights and driving across bridges with no emotional charge. That evening he drove across a significant bridge. His mother, a passenger in the car was amazed. She had witnessed his severe bridge  phobia  for over 30 years. Later, at the party he went to, he went out on a second floor balcony without even thinking about it. Previously he would have had to hug the far wall to keep from fainting.

I thought perhaps this was a fluke. But from that point onward I have consistently been able to help my  phobia  and anxiety clients experience rapid relief without drugs and without weeks and weeks of therapy. Usually a single all day session with a few follow-ups is enough to give them total relief.

I have helped college students who couldn’t raise their hand in class or say hi in the hall, nurses with test anxiety pass their boards, business professionals who couldn’t pick up the phone or go to a networking meeting, people with severe germ  phobias , bug  phobias , driving  phobias , dating  phobias , you name it. Every single one of these cases was a pattern of thinking and focus. The client was using his or her thoughts to create an intense negative experience. I just taught them to use the same process they were already using but to get a different result.

But look in any psychology book and you will fail to see even a mention of NLP ( Neuro Linguistic Programming ), Time Line Therapy (TM), Ericksonian hypnosis and EFT (emotional freedom technique). These are the tools I use every day to help people transform their shyness, anxiety or  phobia  and become comfortable doing the very things that used to frighten them. But these traditional sources have plenty to say about drugs and “desensitization.” Before you start taking some medication with dubious effectiveness and onerous side effects or commit to years of weekly talk therapy, at least do some research!

“Google” NLP, Time Line Therapy or EFT. Read Crhistopher Lane’s book, “Shyness, How Normal Behavior Became a Sickness” (Yale University Press).

The point is: You’re not sick. Far from it. You may be sensitive, imaginative, intelligent and introverted (every one of my clients has fit that description). You may have had an intense, even traumatic “one time learning event” that has resulted in you doing your best to avoid a repeat of a certain situation. You may worry yourself sick or “freak out” about something that doesn’t seem to bother anybody else. But you are not sick.

You are using your mind to make yourself miserable. Using NLP you can change that…Fast.

Ten Free Ways to Naturally Treat Anxiety Today

1. Deep breaths – Simple breathing is one of the quickest and most effective ways to instantly treat  anxiety . When you start to feel anxious take three slow, deep breaths; in your mouth, and out your nose and you should start to instantly feel relief from your  anxiety . You can do this as many times as necessary, and can also close your eyes for increased relief.

2. Eliminate caffeine from your diet – Caffeine is a stimulant that increases your heart rate and makes you more anxious. By eliminating caffeine from your diet you will feel decreased levels of  anxiety . If stopping entirely is too hard you can slowly decrease your caffeine consumption day to day until your feel decreased  anxiety .

3. Daily exercise – Exercise is an extremely effective way to treat  anxiety . Exercising at least 30 minutes a day will cause an increased flow of blood and oxygen to your brain which lower stress and  anxiety . In addition, daily exercise will improve your self esteem which also decrease feelings of  anxiety .

4. Keeping a journal – By keeping a daily journal of your life where you can write about all your frustrations and problems you are releasing much of the  anxiety  that can haunt you throughout the day. If you write it all down it can help give you perspective and help you understand the scope of these problems. If you let the problems just fester in your mind they can multiply and the problems become much bigger in your head than they really are. These exaggerated problems can cause unnecessary  anxiety  in your life. It is much better to get everything on paper so you don’t exaggerate any of the problems.

5. Enough Sleep – Sleep deprivation is one of the most common causes of  anxiety . Recent evidence suggests that the most healthy amount of sleep per night is 6-8 hours. Always make sure to get a minimum of six hours of sleep per night to alleviate  anxiety . Also too much sleep can lead to depression and increased  anxiety . In addition to the right amount of sleep per night your body also functions the best with consistency. Make every effort to wake up at the same time every morning, and go to sleep at the same time every night. By getting the correct amount of consistent sleep every night your  anxiety  will start to decrease.

6. Talk – Talking to a close friend or family member that you trust completely about your problems and what’s troubling you can help put your mind at ease about the problems.  Anxiety  is caused by worrying, and if your mind is at ease about your problems then you will worry less and feel less  anxiety  in your life.

7. Positive Thinking – Changing your thought patterns from negative thinking to positive thinking is a very long and difficult process but the effects can be tremendous. You will start to feel better about yourself, and everything you’re doing. This will decrease  anxiety  and social  anxiety  because of how you feel about yourself. To change your thought patterns you must consciously correct yourself every time you catch yourself having a negative thought. Identify positive things you like about yourself and think three positive thoughts for every negative thought you catch yourself thinking. Over time you will begin to naturally think positively. This is a great habit to get into, and in addition to helping your  anxiety  problems it will benefit many other areas of your life as well.

8. Pets – Pets are proven to increase happiness and calmness, and decrease  anxiety  and blood pressure. Pets also make great outlets to talk to about your problems and help you deal with challenges in your life.

9. Get out in nature – The fast paced life style that the modern world requires causes undue  anxiety  for many people. By getting out in nature and learning to appreciate the world for what it is will help keep you grounded and living a peaceful life. You can also exercise at the same time by going hiking, backpacking, mountain climbing, rock climbing, or trail running.

10. Spend time with loved ones – Spending time with people you love and who love you will help you feel better about yourself and help alleviate  anxiety  in your life. Often times people feel that they are being constantly judged and this makes them anxious trying to live up to others expectations. By being around people who accept you unconditionally this  anxiety  will go away.

Common Sleep Disorders Defined

What is sleep disorder? It is simply defined as the condition that disrupts the quality of sleep thus preventing the person to have a restful sleep resulting to some mood swings, tiredness during the day and dysfunction. There are a lot of types of sleep disorders, but the most common ones are insomnia, snoring, sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome and sleepwalking.

Insomnia

Insomnia is a very common condition which means that a person has difficulty falling asleep or maintaining sleep. A person with insomnia may wake up in the middle of the night and have difficulty going back to sleep. This may result in unrefreshing sleep and fatigue, daytime sleepiness, mood swings and a person may have difficulty in concentrating. Insomnia can be acute or chronic; meaning this disorder can be short-term or long-term. Acute insomnia can last from one night to a few weeks while chronic insomnia can last for three nights per week for one month or even longer.

Sleep is very important in our day to day lives but some people don’t get enough sleep because either a person or their partner have snoring problem. Snoring is a very common factor that can affect the quality of sleep but can be treated. However, it is important to know the probable cause for snoring before attempting to take serious treatment since snoring disorder can be corrected simply with some lifestyle modifications. People who are smokers and overweight for example, can stop smoking and may try to lose weight since these changes can help open up airways and facilitate better airflow thus preventing or eliminating this snoring disorder. Sleep Apnea Sleep apnea is a serious disorder that happens when a person’s breathing is interrupted during sleep. Pause of breathing can last from a few seconds to minutes and often occur from 5 to 30 times within the hour. Sleep apnea is usually an ongoing condition that really disrupts sleep. Five Finger Footwear

Consumers spend hundreds of dollars a year on a good running shoe, when they might just be better off running barefoot! Unfortunately people are skeptical about running barefoot because of the vulnerability of the foot. Many people believe there is far worse of an impact on the foot when there is no protection from impact shock and the pads of the feet. Vibram came up with a solution to this problem by creating their five finger footwear. With just a thin layer of rubber to protect your foot from the elements, the shoes slide over your foot like a sock and allows you run like you had no shoes on at all.

Five finger footwear by Vibram are thought to be the future of running footwear. Running barefoot or with these toe shoes actually strengthens smaller tendons and ligaments in our feet that become weak over time from the artificial support we get from sneakers. The artificial support regular shoes provide can deform our natural arches along with weaken stabilizer muscles in our legs, calves, and feet.

Once runners remove their sneakers, their running style completely changes. When you wear regular running sneakers you hit the ground with your heel, which is bad for the body; if you run without shoes you hit the ground with the front of the foot, which is better for your body. Your foot contracts to reduce impact when landing on the forefront of the foot. This is one of the many reasons barefoot running is believed to be healthier and safer than sneaker running. While maintaining a complete barefoot experience, five finger footwear offers a means to protect the pads of your feet and a better running experience.

When wearing sneakers, a runners typical impact point is their heel. This is why the modern running sneaker design has a huge cushioned area on the heel of the shoes that helps to absorb this impact. Running like this may be the reason that such a high number of runners get injured. Stress upon the back, legs and joints, with-in the body, can lead to constant pain if one continues to stress their joints from this impact.

The studies are there, along with the science that shows how our body adapts to barefoot running. Not only is it a healthy alternative, but the money you save from running barefoot or grabbing a pair of five finger footwear is worth the while.

Ligaments are tough, rope-like fibers that connect bone to bone. When ligaments are injured, it is called a sprain. The symptoms of a severe sprain are very similar to those of a broken bone. It is impossible to know without a doubt whether a bone is broken or just sprained without an X-ray.

To someone who is not properly trained to know the difference, it is easy to confuse an ankle sprain with a broken ankle and vice versa. When a bone is the ankle is actually fractured, it is a break. It is usually the small bone to the outside of the ankle, known as the fibula, that breaks.

How to Tell the Difference

According to research conducted by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, around 25,000 individuals sprain their ankle every day. It is important that you learn to tell the difference between a sprained ankle and a broken ankle, especially if you are an athlete who plays sports on a regular basis.

• The first thing you should do it consider how the injury took place. If you stepped on an uneven surface, twisted your foot or lost your balance, you most likely sprained your foot. If you tripped, suffered a hard fall or experienced heavy impact, like an automobile accident, then you may very well have broken your ankle.

• Examine your ankle to determine if there is any swelling. If the ankle is swollen and tender but you can still move it, it is a sprained ankle.

• Rate your pain. A broken ankle will cause swelling, bruising, numbness and tenderness; however, a sprained ankle is often more painful. On the other hand, if you experience immediate, severe pain or the ankle is deformed, you most likely have a broken ankle.

• Try to walk on your ankle. If you can walk, even if it is painful, this is an indication that the injury is just a sprain. If you cannot put any weight on the affected foot, your ankle is probably broken.

• A professional health care provider will be able to tell you for sure if your ankle is broken or just sprained. Your doctor will take an X-ray, which will help determine for sure the exact injury. Your doctor may also decide to perform a stress test to determine if surgery is necessary and determine which ligaments you have injured.

Recovering From an Ankle Sprain

The recovery time for a sprained ankle depends on a number of different factors, including the amount of swelling present, the extent of the sprain, initial care and whether or not you choose to undergo treatment from a physical therapist.

A Grade 1 ankle sprain with minor pain and swelling will generally take one to two weeks to heal. The most common sprain, a Grade 2, can take from four to six weeks to heal. The most serious type of ankle sprain is a Grade 3, which can take from eight to twelve weeks to heal completely.

Recovering From a Broken Ankle

Recovery success from a broken ankle depends on the method of treatment that you choose. You will recover from a broken ankle much faster if you do not move the leg much, especially before treatment has been administered. If the bone has actually cracked and it becomes brittle, then the recovery time will be considerably longer.

To speed recovery of a broken ankle, refrain from putting any weight on the ankle. Use an ice pack to keep the swelling down, which will effectively reduce pain as well. Some patients will need to use a cane or crutches to help keep weight off the affected ankle.

Keep in mind if surgery is required to correct your broken ankle, recovery time will be significantly increased.

Excision Tattoo Removal – It Works!

“In this article I’ll discuss a specific type of removal, one which I recommend….”

Excision tattoo removal works well on small to medium sized images, and most companies do guarantee complete removal.

The Surgical Excision Method not only works on larger images, but is really geared towards small and medium designs. This type of removal does involve removal of skin where the actual ink or dye was used during the initial creation of the design. In many cases the technician will put in stitching close to the edges to propagate healing. Although this sounds complicated; it’s not. In fact it is relatively easy and the patient should be aware of this. These procedures are normally done in medical clinics by licensed doctors and surgeons.

What about infections? Yes, to prevent infections the patient will take antibiotics prior to the surgery. This protects the body after removal. If this sounds like it’s going to hurt, rest assured that although there will be some pain, nothing compared to when the actual image was placed on the body, as local anesthesia is used on the area to dull the pain.

The skin of the tattoo is then cutaway; the epidermis and the dermis are removed in what is known as a “Full Thickness Removal.” The surgeon then stitches the skin closed with special sutures, which allows it to heal and leaves a small scar.

Removal by excision is normally used primarily on small images because it requires less skin removal and can be completed in one session.

The larger the image, the more sessions a patient may need to completely remove everything. Depending on the size, the wound may take up to a few months to completely heal. If it is especially large, the surgeon may need to perform a skin graft to help the wound heal. This procedure adds to the pain of the tattoo removal and lengthens the healing process.

Excision tattoo removal is preferred over some other removal methods because it usually results in smaller scars. It’s also less painful than some other procedures and is an Outpatient process, avoiding hospitalization.

The procedure is also not as painful as others because of the local anesthetic. The cost is also much lower than other methods; around $150-$350, depending on where you have the procedure carried out, the clinic, and the size of the design. (Please note that the price mentioned would be an approximate cost for removing a small image.)

Removal by excision has a success rate of 95 percent; although there are risks, as with any medical procedure, however excision removal has much less associated risks.

Known risks include infection of the skin graft site, pigmentation (if exposed to the sun), scarring, reactions to the anesthetic, and temporary bleeding, bruising, inflammation, and tenderness.)

Infections and reactions to the anesthetic could lead to hospitalization, prolonging the removal process. Also, if the tattoo is much deeper than normal, a deeper cut must be made to remove the ink and these deep cuts naturally take longer to heal.

The cost of your tat removal may also become more expensive than another removal method if the tattoo is extremely large. Again, excision removal is best for very small tattoos.

Patients should avoid smoking, drinking, or excessive physical activity before and after the procedure to quicken the healing process. Excision tattoo removal is simply cutting out the image and stitching the skin back together.

Yeast Infection Or Candida (Candidiasis) – What Causes It?

One is taking antibiotics. While antibiotics are intended to reduce certain populations of bacteria (the ‘bad guys’), those antibiotics will often have unintended consequences – they kill off large numbers of healthy flora (the ‘good guys’) as well. Once the imbalance is established, it is a challenge for the body to reestablish a healthy bowel flora balance.

There is also a connection to acidity, the acid-alkaline (or pH) balance of your blood. What you eat and drink greatly affects your pH balance. Most all fresh vegetables and fruits are alkaline. Most everything else is acidic – all meats, fats and most grains, and most cooked fruits, vegetables and grains. So, try to eat more raw and fresh food.

And drink plenty of water. It’s great for reducing acidity. A little-known secret: alkaline ionized water is one of the best ways to alkalize your body! It’s simple, fast, and cheap! So consider investing in a water ionizer.

Eat less sugar. It is extremely acidifying to your body, and making your body acidic allows candida and the other ‘bad guys’ to thrive! Plus, you need to do everything in your power to reduce acidity because, ironically, the very toxins that the ‘bad guys’ produce also acidify your body you get them under control. So not only is less sugar good for you in so many ways you are already aware of, one more reason is to actually make your body a less inviting place for candida to live. Think of it as cleaning up the neighborhood so the riff-raff moves out.

Alcohol is a highly refined form of sugar. Also, highly refined food like white bread, white rice, pasta and any kind of noodles, and tortillas, and any kind of junk food can be added to the list of things that cause acidity and encourage bowel dysbiosis. And dairy products are highly acidic.

Bad News, Good News

When you have higher levels of the ‘bad guys’, your hormones become imbalanced which has been found to cause cravings. The ‘bad guys’ are literally running your life! They thrive on sugar, so they send your body chemical signals to ‘bring us sugar!’ You think you’re in control? Think again.

But as your body starts to respond to the positive changes you’re making, your cravings will diminish and may even disappear altogether! How sweet is that?

Even more good news: When you correct candida issues, you’re correcting the other flora imbalances as well. You’re establishing healthy populations of the good flora that will keep the bad flora in check. And what you’re doing to reduce candida can’t help but greatly reduce the populations of many other of the ‘bad guys’ at the same time.

And some of the best news – weight loss gets easier! As you reduce acidity, your cells tend to let go of fat a lot easier! (They were using it like a defense against the body’s toxins. Remove the toxins, they lower their defenses.)
