Researchers have found these findings to be quite significant when it comes to obesity and loss of life.

It is important to remember that this is not the only study that demonstrates a correlation between certain unhealthy habits and early death rates. It seems people are ignoring the dangers of obesity. Good intake of probiotics (eg yogurt) and essential fatty acids (the omega's: 3, 6, and 9) such as are found in foods like salmon and walnuts, are often helpful in minimizing Rosacea symptoms.

Eczema: A diet lacking in essential fatty acids (eg walnuts, almonds, and flax seed) will perpetuate eczema. Keeping the skin well hydrated is also quite important in minimizing flare-ups. This means drinking plenty of liquids, but keep in mind that alcohol and teas actually have an overall dehydrating effect which could result in aggravating any eczema symptoms.

Hot peppers (Chili peppers) include a special ingredient called Capsaicin in their composition. Capsaicin is the particular ingredient which makes Chili peppers taste hot. Pure Capsaicin is a colorless and odorless crystalline compound.

Some plants naturally have Capsaicin in them for the protection of their leaf from animals eating them, and possibly also for the protection from certain fungi. Some studies show that Capsaicin can also help to reduce the pains, associated with Psoriatic Arthritis.

Topical creams with Capsaicin help to relieve the pain in the nerve endings near the skin surface. Capsaicin interrupts the action of molecules at the nerve endings, which affect how the brain recognizes pain, itch, and heat. When Capsaicin is removed, the nerve endings recover back to their normal state.

May Capsaicin also help in psoriasis treatment? And if yes, then how will it – topically or internally?

Several double-blind placebo controlled studies have shown that a topical application of a 0.025% cream with Capsaicin has helped to sufficiently relieve the skin symptoms in the people with psoriasis when compared to the placebo controlled group of people with psoriasis.

Due to the burning sensation caused by Capsaicin when it comes in contact with mucous membranes (mucous membranes include mouth, gums, stomach, intestines, nose, bronchial tubes, and urinary tract), it is often used in food products to make them taste spicy or "hot".

According to some studies, Capsaicin may also cause the release of endorphins in the body – the compounds produced by the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus during exercise, a sexual intercourse, an excitement etc. Endorphins cause a feeling of pleasure when released into the human body.

Some people with psoriasis say that they also benefit from the dietary intake of foods containing Capsaicin. Other people can not use Capsaicin as an internal psoriasis treatment, due to that, hot peppers (Chili peppers or Cayenne peppers) and other products with Capsaicin cause heartburn in them.

I suspect that Capsaicin may work in psoriasis treatment due to acting as an irritant for the psoriatic plaques. Just as with Cryotherapy (treatment with the use of ultra low temperatures), Capsaicin may irritate the skin due to causing the sensation of a strong heat on the skin, and thus to cause the skin to "pay attention" to what is going on with the site and to adjust accordingly.

First of all, you can get nail fungus by not wearing proper footwear in places intended for public use. Public bathrooms are the most common place to get them. It’s moist enough for them to grow.

Other things that you should watch out for is the length of your nails. Yes, you heard me. The space between your nail plate and your toe, for instance, could be humid enough if not dried properly. Hence, the gang would love to move there. Proper thing to do is to keep your feet and hands clean with soap and water. One other thing, the most important part. DRY them properly. They really love humid places rich with moistures.

Other places they like to hang out in is your socks. This is especially true if the socks do not absorb water. The water is trapped, hard to dry and causes the place to be a perfect hang out place for the guys. Living With a Latex Allergy

The interesting thing about latex is that it is a huge part of our society, often without being noticed. For example, carpet backing, pencil erasers, baby pacifiers, wheelchair tires, toys, balloons, and even elastic in clothing is latex. However, most people relate latex to adhesive tape used in hospitals, which is yet another example. Because so many people have latex allergy and the number of things made from latex is growing, symptoms are on the rise.

Take the healthcare industry for example – this particular area is surrounded by latex in the form of tape, surgical gloves, disposable syringes, and blood pressure cuffs. Because doctor's offices, clinics, and hospitals use so much latex, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health have released results of a study that show a minimum of 12% of all healthcare workers eventually deal with some level of latex allergy. Even so, the biggest concern regarding latex allergy relates to children with disability since their small, sick bodies are highly sensitive and susceptible, putting them at greater risk.

Keep in mind that when it comes to latex allergy, there are many different forms of reaction, some minor and some major. For instance, a Type 1 latex allergy is considered as hypersensitive, which produces symptoms ranging from minor such as watery eyes and a runny nose to more severe problems that would include nausea and vomiting, hives, and shortness of breath. With Type 1, the problem is that latex particles become airborne and then inhaled.

For Type 4 latex allergy, the reaction is limited to any exposed area. This would include someone having surgery and the bandages being held on by latex tape. The result is a skin rash and irritation, swelling, and redness that typically lasts anywhere from 24 to 48 hours. Obviously, this type of latex allergy is not nearly as serious although it is quite frustrating.

Keep in mind that latex is actually a natural product that comes from a rubber tree's sap. Because it is so flexible, strong, and costs very little to manufacture, it takes first place over many similar manmade products. If you suspect that you have a latex allergy, you can see your doctor for a thorough examination and blood work. This test involves looking at a certain antibody called IgE immunoassays, which is performed through skin testing.

This particular test is currently being approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and while it is highly accurate for proving latex allergy, it is not designed to determine the severity of the allergy. Therefore, in addition to the testing, if you have reaction to latex, you should avoid using it, turning instead to vinyl or plastic.

Hot Flashes Help Through Diet and Herbs

Hot flashes help is available without hormones or drugs. Hot flashes and sweats are one of the earliest, most bothersome and common complaint of menopause. Hot flashes and sweats affect 80% of Western women as they transition beyond their childbearing years. But not all women in the world experience hot flashes and sweats the way women in Western cultures do. For instance Japanese women are reported to experience far fewer hot flashes. Only 10 to 15 percent of Japanese women are reported to experience hot flashes, night sweats and other symptoms of menopause such as mood swings, dry skin, vaginal dryness, irritability, depression, anxiety, fatigue, sexual problems and urinary tract problems. Japanese women also suffer far less breast cancer than their Western counterparts. A bulletin of the American Cancer Society, Cancer Facts and Figures states that women in the US are 4.5 X more likely to die of breast cancer than Japanese.

Why do Western women suffer while Japanese women do not? Much of the difference between Japanese women and their Western counterparts with regard to menopausal complaints, including hot flashes and sweats, is attributed to our different diets. The Japanese consume lots of soy in the form of tofu, fermented soy products and soy milk. Soy contains phytoestrogens, or plant derived hormones that have an estrogenic effect in the human body. This effect is mild compared to the human estrogens (estrone, estradiol and estriol), but can be significant and therapeutic. Consumption of foods containing phytoestrogens replaces the estrogens lost with decreased secretion of estrogens from the ovaries during perimenopause and menopause. The net effect is an easier transition through menopause with fewer and less severe symptoms of menopause-just as Japanese women experience.

Eat key foods that contain phytoestrogens. Soy beans and flax seed are two foods that contain phytoestrogens that are particularly helpful with regard to the symptoms of menopause. A study published in the British Journal of Medicine in 1990 documents the benefits of soy and flaxseed. Women suffering the typical symptoms of perimenopause and menopause (average age 59) added soy (6 tablespoons of soy flour) or flaxseed (2 tablespoons) each day. A major complaint of perimenopause and menopause is vaginal dryness. This occurs when decreased estrogen levels result in lessened secretion of vaginal mucus. As a measure of the benefit of the soy and/or flaxseed, each woman’s vaginal mucous secretion was evaluated before and six weeks of the changed diet. In just six weeks the women experienced renewed lubrication of the vaginal tissues, to their premenopausal status. A study in Maturitas: Journal of Climacteric and Postmenopause reported a 40% decrease in hot flashes, sweats, palpitations, headaches, depression, fatigue, irritability and nervousness, sleep disturbances, depression, and loss of sexual desire with soy.
