Stage III ovarian cancer is a more serious level of cancer, which has spread to include the pelvic area and organs, and the abdominal organs (liver, bowels, lymph nodes, etc.), and it is easier to diagnose. It is used as part of the prognosis made by a doctor.

Stage III ovarian cancer is then further defined by the TNM determination rating system. TNM is defined to mean to tumor size, node inclusion, metastasis or spread status and grade of the tumor. Tumor size – Due to the spread of Stage III, the tumors can only be defined as one of the following:

T3a: the tumor is inside one (or both) ovary; the tumor spread includes tissues in the pelvic region, outside the pelvic region and beyond the pelvic region

T3b: the tumor is inside one (or both) ovary; the tumor spread includes tissues in the pelvic region, outside the pelvic region and beyond the pelvic region that are now a maximum size of up to 2cm, and can be seen without a microscope

T3c: the tumor is inside one (or both) ovary; the tumor spread includes tissues in the pelvic region, outside the pelvic region and beyond the pelvic region that is now a 2cm or more in size, and can be seen easily

Node inclusion – As the cancer is at Stage III its classification is:

N1: the tumor has spread to include the lymph nodes

Metastasis or spread determination – As Stage III cancer has been found, only the following classification can be used:

M1: metastases have been found somewhere

Grade of the tumor

The grading of a tumor shows the maturity of the cancerous cells inside the ovary (s). As the cancer is now at Stage III, it can only be classified as the following:

Grade 2: a combination of both normal and cancerous cells; cancerous cells account for about every other cell

Grade 3: very few normal cells if any are left; most or all cells are cancerous

The lower the grade, the slower a tumor will grow, and the better the patient’s chance of survival. The higher the grade, the quicker the tumor may grow or spread, and the chances of survival are greatly diminished. In this case, Stage III ovarian cancer has greatly reduced the patient’s chances of recovery and/or survival.

The stage groupings are used to show the order of the varied factors included in the TNM determination rating system. Stage III groupings are as follows:

Stage III

Stage IIIa: T3a, N0, M0

What is Chronic Bronchitis?

Chronic bronchitis is defined as a long term inflammation or swelling of the bronchi.  This can result in heightened production of mucus and may be accompanied by other side effects.  To be classified as chronic bronchitis, a harsh cough and expectoration (coughing up of mucus) must occur on most days, for no less than three months of the year, for two or more years in a row.  This does not include other conditions such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, or other lung conditions that may result in the same symptoms.

Identifying the Symptoms of Chronic Bronchitis

Although chronic bronchitis may affect each person differently, there are tell-tale signs of chronic bronchitis that may help you identify the problem.  These include:

– Cough.  This cough may be subtle or harsh, but with all cases of bronchitis there is some coughing present.

– Expectoration.  Expectoration is the coughing up, or spitting out of mucus due to over production, caused by bronchitis.

-Other tests – May include X-Ray’s, CT scans or other internal imaging tests.

Common Joint Disorders in Dogs

In some cases it can be severe. Treatment in normal cases can be some anti-inflammatory medication taken as needed and in severe cases surgery may be needed. X-rays maybe needed to determine the seriousness of the condition.

Panosteitis is a bone disease of dogs that is characterized by bone proliferation and remodeling. It is lameness that often comes and goes and can move from leg to leg, It is common in large breeds and the cause is unknown. It is very painful and can last for as long as 18 months, though it commonly lasts only 2 t 5 months. Treatment is rest and anti-inflammatory drugs.

Male dogs are more apt to get panosteitis than females and German Shepherds, Great Danes and Dobermans seem to have a higher degree of this condition.

Osteochondritis dissecans, commonly known as OCD is a disease of the cartilage that affects the joints in a dog's body.

What is OCD? Whenever 2 bones meet there is a smooth area of ​​cartilage covering the surface and acts as a cushion between the two bones. It usually strikes puppies between the ages of 3 to 6 months and like OCD it usually strikes more male dogs than females. It is not an inherited or a genetic disease and it does not seem to affect one breed over another.

Symptoms are usually mild to moderate painful swelling of the growth plates in the leg bones, the long bones from the elbow to the wrist and the long bone from the knee to the hock. Dogs may show reluctance to move, show lameness, act lethargic, and refuse to eat or run a temperature up to 106 degrees. The disease usually affect both legs and may possibly resolve itself on its own, however a very high fever for a long period of time and if the bony involvement is severe, the dog may suffer permanent structural damage or even die.

Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease (LCP) is a disorder of hip joint conformation that affects both humans and dogs. It is found most often in the miniature and toy breeds between the ages of 4 months to a year. LCP is believed to be an inherited disease and dogs who have it should not be used for breeding purposes.

LCP shows up as a gradual disuse of a rear leg with pain and stiffness of a hip joint. An x-ray is usually needed to determine the seriousness of the degeneration within the femoral head (part of the hip joint). Treatment usually requires surgery and physical therapy.

If your puppy shows any sign of a skeletal deformity, the sooner you take care of it, the better it is for your puppy. Some types of deformities can be cured with surgery, while degenerative problems like joint disease of elbow dysplasia can not be corrected by surgery, but can be treated most often medically.

There are disorders of the bone and joint tissues that can be caused by bacterial infections such as Lyme disease or Staphylococcus bacteria. Genetic defects can also cause a number of problems. Treatment is wholly dependent on getting a correct diagnosis of the condition your puppy is suffering from.

Injuries can count for many orthopedic problems in many puppies. Injuries that have not been properly taken care of can cause a dog a series of life long problems. It is important never to push a puppy into a physical exercise that is beyond its capability. You can cause a great deal of harm to the bone structure of the puppy.

Pair Trading Can Reduce Risk in Both Stocks and Currency Trading

What is pair trading? If you have not done pair trading before, pair trading is done with two almost similar stocks. Pair trading is highly popular with professional stock traders when they take simultaneously a long position in one stock and a short position in another almost similar stock in equal dollar amounts. Both these stocks are almost similar but are experiencing a dislocation. This dislocation in these two stocks is used for hedging purposes.

What you do is try to find two stocks in the same industry and the same sector with a strong historical correlation between them. Yet for the time being, these two stocks are experiencing dislocation with one stock higher in price as compared to the other stock. Overtime, both the stocks are going to converge to the same price level.

You benefit from this convergence by going short on the higher priced stock and going long on the lower priced stocks. So when both the stocks converge, you make profit. If both do not converge, you do not lose much. So in pair trading, you try to profit from the convergence of the two stock prices to the historical levels.

Now this same strategy can be used in currency trading. The good thing in currency trading is that you do not have to buy two separate currencies. Pair trading is sort of in build in it as you can only trade currency pairs meaning you can go short on one and long on another or the other way around.

Now when you pair trade stocks, you are striping out the market influence from your position by going short on one and long on the other. These two positions cancel each other as the market moves since both similar stocks are supposed to move in the same direction.

Currencies can also be viewed as stocks with countries replacing companies. Just like companies are affected by the broader economic fundamentals in the same way countries get affected by sovereign debt, trade protectionism, trade balance, budge deficit and so on. Essential Oils – Healing Broken Bones is Not That Hard With the Right Healing Oils

Recently I slipped on ice and broke my arm. Luckily the bones were not displaced-a simple fracture of the head of the radius bone as shown on x-ray. What is significant is that the pain was greatly lessened by applying certain essential oils that are anti-inflammatory and pain relieving. Can essential oils help the healing process? In my case, absolutely! When bones are fractured, there may be swelling, internal bleeding into the area, nerve and even tendon damage. Applying ice and in my case splinting my arm to immobilize it greatly decreased the pain. Here are the essential oils that I used to get back full use of my arm in half the time someone of my age would take.

Helichrysum italicum also called Everlasting, was the first oil I used for pain and swelling. This is an outstanding oil that has several great medical properties. It is known as an anticoagulant, anesthetic, antispasmodic, antiviral, a liver protectant, detoxifier and stimulant, chelates chemicals and toxins, and helps to regenerate nerves.

Next I applied lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus) for its anti-inflammatory action and its ability to regenerate connective tissues and ligaments. Lemongrass also dilates blood vessels, improves circulation, and promotes lymph flow. Lemongrass can be a little warm to the skin because of its high aldehyde content, so the third oil I chose was high in monoterpenes which served to quench the warmth.

Idaho balsam fir (Abies balsamae) is 98% monoterpenes making it an outstanding anti-inflammatory oil. It also has anticoagulant properties and is known as a great oil for arthritis/rheumatism, lumbago and sciatica. Plus the smell of balsam fir is that of Christmas trees-very refreshing and an improvement over the heavy lemongrass fragrance and “weed” smell of helichrysum.

The fourth oil I used was a blend called Trauma Life. It is a blend of valerian, lavender, frankincense, sandalwood, rose, helichrysum, spruce, geranium, davana and citrus hystrix. This particular blend helps to release buried emotional trauma from, in my case, the accident, but it also helps release emotional trauma from the death of loved ones, assault or abuse. It combats stress and uproots traumas that cause insomnia, anger, restlessness, and a weakened immune response. The valerian component of this oil certainly helped me to rest better since getting my arm in a comfortable position was a bit of a feat.

Many other essential oils have been found to be helpful in bone healing including wintergreen, peppermint, spruce, pine, ginger and vetiver. The key is finding out which oils are going to be most helpful for you. I found a formula that worked for me.

Causes of Heel Pain

Heel pain is a very common problem experienced by many and is caused by different reasons. Patients will often suffer pain under the heel or behind the heel. Most of the time, heel pain will disappear on its own with time but in serious cases, they can become chronic problems. There are 26 bones in the human foot and the largest bone is the heel bone. The function of the heel is to provide support and balance the weight of the body. With such immense weight acting on it and various activities such as running and jumping, the heel is at a high risk of injury.

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is a painful result of the inflammation of the plantar fascia. The plantar fascia links the heel bones to the toes and is responsible for the arch of the boot. Plantar fasciitis can cause immense pain which increases with every additional step you take but once you warm up the leg, the pain will start to go away, coming back again after periods of immobility.

Stress Fracture

As mentioned above, the heel bone is the largest bone in the human foot and stress fractures can occur due to overuse of the heel. Continuous activity on a hard surface can also contribute to stress fractures due to the higher force environment. When the heel bone fractures under stress, it will cause immense pain at the heel region and recovery time is often lengthy.

Heel bursitis

Heel bursitis results from inflammation of the bursa which is located at the back of the heel. It is most commonly occurred when the patient lands on the heels incorrectly, injuring the tendons and bursa. Improper footwear may also contribute to heel bursitis. The pain will normally get worse as the day passes.

Working Out After Surgery

Chances are that you may have either a major or a minor surgical procedure; I have experienced such a situation. I had to have hernia surgery earlier this year and I can tell you that it throws a big wrench into your workout schedule and routine.

For me it was the multiple repairs of two hernias. That's not one hernia, but two hernias and not once but twice. If you can imagine the frustration that sets in dealing with the injury, the surgical procedures, the pain, the healing, the doctor visits and not being able to work out you can understand the situation.

The first time that I had surgery it was for an Inguinal Hernia. Yes, I received this injury trying to do too much working and just not paying attention to the over-exertion. Can you say lesson learned?

It was a painful lesson learned. I followed the instructions that I was given when I got home from surgery. I rested, I did not lift and I took it easy but boy was I frustrated? I wanted to workout or at least be able to run.

The minute that the doctor told me that is was OK to walk for long slow distances I was on the pavement. The day that the doctor told that I could jog I was pounding the pavement. The day the doctor told me that I could lift 25lbs I went home and I was doing curls within the hour. The problem was as my girlfriend pointed out; I was using 2-25lb dumbbells. Get it 50lbs, not 25lbs. Yes I wanted to workout so bad that I jumped the gun and pushed too hard, too fast.

Now I did not see any real issues for almost 6 months, but shortly after the 6th month it happened, I felt the pain again and I knew what it was. So I took another trip to the doctor and once again I had a hernia. This one just inches above the first.

This time I had a Spegelian Hernia. While the doctor told me that it was not as bad as the first hernia I was still frustrated. Did my pushing myself to get to form cause this one to happen? What if I had taken just a couple of extra weeks and waited?

When I went in to have this hernia repaired during the procedure it was noticed that I had re-injured the first hernia, plus I had two more very weak areas. When I got home from the out-patient surgery my body looked like it was with a shotgun. I had holes all over my chest and stomach.

This time I had learned my lesson, I followed every order that I was told and more.

When I was told that I could walk for long slow distance I waited and extra week. When I was told that I could run I waited an extra week before starting to run. When I was told that I could lift this time I waited two extra weeks and started with less weight than the doctor recommended.

Over all I took two extra months to get totally back into my routine but honestly this time I glad that I am glad that I did.

So remember this, the most important thing when working out after surgery is to get with your doctor, make a list of questions, ask them, take notes and follow them.

What is Osteoporosis?

With advancing age, the skeleton bone starts maturing with slow rate of bone loss beginning as early as 30 years of age in both men & women. However, genetic factor plays important role in the regulation of bone mass & in the pathogenesis of osteoporosis.
