Michael Jackson’s sister, has stated in an exclusive interview with London newspaper the News of the World, that she believes Michael’s body was to fragile for such a strong drug. “I think it shocked his system so much it caused his death.” she said.

The autopsy showed that his stomach only had partial digested pills. All nurses will attest that the extreme amount of time spent walking during a nursing shift leads to “warm feet”. This heat builds up in nursing shoes and has little outlet for venting. Nurses who wear pantyhose instead of socks experience more heat buildup and moisture in shoes as the synthetic hosiery material does not wick moisture that is generated during prolonged walking away from the foot.

The replacement of the traditional nursing uniform dress with the more comfortable uniform scrubs has led to a decrease in nurses who wear pantyhose. Socks have now become a staple nursing uniform accessory. However, socks made of synthetic materials pose the same problem as the previously used pantyhose. To ensure maximum wicking of foot moisture, socks should be constructed of 100% cotton or of specially engineered moisture wicking materials.

Because of the large amount of moisture generated during a typical nursing shift, nurses need to ensure that their nursing shoes “air out” for at least 24 hours and are completely dry before putting them on again. A disinfectant spray to the inside of uniform shoes after each use is recommended to kill bacteria in between wearing. Having two pair of nursing shoes and alternating their usage is a good way of letting nursing footwear completely dry.

Nurses, for whom it is impossible to alleviate heat and moisture generation in their nursing shoes, it is important that steps to control and/or prevent athlete’s foot are practiced. These steps include:

• Wash the feet daily

• Dry feet thoroughly, especially between the toes, with a clean towel

• Always use a clean towel and never share towels

• Use antifungal sprays on feet and shoes

• Spray shoes with a disinfectant and allow to dry before reuse

• Go barefoot at home as much as possible

• Avoid wearing synthetic or tight footwear that don’t allow the feet to breathe

• Wear sandals to protect the feet from contamination in public areas such as gyms, swimming pools, and public showers

• Wear socks made of 100% cotton or moisture wicking materials

• Wear clothing, particularly scrubs that are made of 100% cotton or cotton blends that are not tight fitting causing moisture to trap in groin and waist areas

• Change your socks if they get damp, or at least once a day

• Keep home, and particularly bathroom surfaces clean, especially showers and tubs

It is important to control Athlete’s foot as this fungus can spread to other areas of the body, including hands, mouth, scalp, vagina and groin If you have Athlete’s foot, dry all other areas of the body after a shower before drying your feet to avoid spreading the fungus to other vulnerable areas of the body. It is possible to treat Athlete’s foot yourself at home by using nonprescription medications such a Lamisil, Tinactin or Micatin. Other home remedies such as foot soaks of vinegar or Clorox solutions have also proved effective in some cases. In conjunction with the tips outlined above, it is possible to control chronic foot fungal infections and minimize discomfort.

Stretching and Strengthening – Get Rid of Ankle Scar Tissue

When getting rid of ankle scar tissue is your aim, not only massage is necessary to break it down and flush it out. Rehabilitation is not easy, but if you take it slowly, it can make a world of difference in your recovery time and the condition of your ankle down the road.

In the beginning, rehabilitation aimed at breaking down ankle scar tissue can be very simple. Flex your ankle back and forth. Move it around in circles. Draw the ABCs seems to be a favorite one for physical therapists. All of these are simple, yet effective exercises which can test and improve the flexibility of the joint. As you work your way up, and are able to stand on the injured area, isometric exercises can help strengthen the area. Isometric exercises are exercises which you don’t actually need to move. Sitting on a chair with your foot against a wall, push with the ball or heel of you foot. This can help you work up the amount of pressure you are able to place on the joint. As your condition improves, you will be able to push you ankle in more directions.

As ankle scar tissue breaks down and range of motion exercises (drawing pictures in the air I mentioned before) become easier, you’ll be able to combine them with massage, using your hand to stretch your ankle in different directions. When you are able to stand and move around, walking will be an easy way to strengthen and stretch the area. You’ll be able to see noticeable improvement every day as long as you keep walking. Find some stairs and walk up and down them. This exercise will keep you busy for a while! Stairs took me a long time conquer, and for some reason, walking down is more difficult than walking up! The ninety degree ankle on the stair is also good for pushing against and gradually gaining back full flexibility. An old towel or rag can be used to increase ankle flexibility. Grab the towel with two hands and hook it around your injured area. Pull slightly and you’ll be able to feel a stretch in your ankle. Using this method is great because even just sitting on the floor you can stretch your ankle in many directions.

Eventually you can work up to more difficult and complicated strength training exercises such as standing on one foot, lunges, jogging, running, and eventually jumping and weights (if you have them). One of the more difficult things for me to do was jumping and sharp turns. For a long time, even though I could run without a problem, sharp turns in more explosive-running sports such as basketball or tennis caused still caused me pain. Running in figure eights or jumping exercises can help this.

These exercises are just some ideas to get you started on you rehabilitation and getting rid of ankle scar tissue. Remember, that the longer ankle scar tissue hangs around the more difficult it will be to get rid of it in the long run. Some people have surgery three or four times if their ankle scar tissue is bad enough, so start your rehab routine soon!

Causes and Symptoms of Testicular Pain

Testicular pain is normally experienced by most men. Once the pain occurs frequently, and gets severe it leaves them become anxious and concerned. Pain in the testicles is usually experienced by men of all ages, whether they are younger or old enough. When testicular pain occurs, it can be the number sign that the testicle has lost its blood supply.

Testicular painfulness has numerous causes, and some of which are emergencies that require immediate medical attention. The causes may include the following:

• Trauma to the testicles is often the common cause of bad testicle pain. A direct shock to the men’s scrotum can certainly bring severe pain. This may then result into a bruise. In some cases, trauma may result to a more substantial injury that usually requires medical attention and even surgery.

• Testicular torque is a serious condition and necessitates a medical emergency. This happens when a testicle twists forcedly inside the scrotum. When testicle twists, the blood vessels in the spermatic cord is also twisted that results to breakage of blood supply to the testicle.

• Testicle infection is another cause of testicular pain. When the epididymis is inflamed, it is normally due to an infection. This is usually common in men ages 18 and above.

The first important goal is to identify whether the pain is caused by testicular torsion or not. This is vital because, this condition requires immediate medical emergency. The following signs to look after are the following:

• Pain from testicular torsion

• Pain from epididymitis

• Swollen of the testicles and scrotum

• Nausea and vomiting

• Fever

• Pain during urination

• Blood in the urine

Once the testicular pain gets severe, and is accompanied with the above mentioned symptoms, it is advisable to seek medical help immediately. This is a serious circumstance, and needs immediate attention. This usually requires surgery in order to save and treat the testicle.

The best treatment for testicular pain is through surgery, but to temporarily ease the pain, pain medicines can be applied. Such medicines may include Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen. Antibiotics are also given by doctors.

The food is taken into the mouth where it is chewed, mixed with saliva which is secreted by glands in the mouth. After mastication a portion of food is collected on the tongue. It is then swallowed and the opening to the larynx is closed off by a small flap of tissue called the epiglottis. This flap prevents the food from entering into the respiratory tract. Should some food stray into this tract a reflux action occurs by coughing to expel the food out.

The food passes from the esophagus into the stomach, contractions of the muscular wall of the stomach ensure further mixing and mechanical disintegration of the food, which at the same time is mixed with the gastric juice secreted by the stomach.

The stomach has a mucous membrane lining and is protected from the gastric juice which contains enzymes and hydrochloric acid. The food is broken down into smaller particles for easier absorption into the bloodstream and the rest of the food passes into the small intestine and duodenum through the pyloric sphincter valve, a muscular ring at the end of the stomach and intestine.

In the small intestine, rhythmic movements of the walls churn up the food and mix it with the digestive juices, which include pancreatic and bile juices (The bile is produced by the liver and stored by the gall bladder) further digestion then takes place as the result of the action of enzymes present in these juices.

Absorption of the digestive nutrients takes place mainly through the mucus membrane of the small intestine. The rhythmic movements of the intestine force the unabsorbed food, and waste matter excreted from the blood into the large intestine, here the water is absorbed by the walls of the intestine and partially dehydrated material passes to the rectum from which it is excreted from the body through the anus as faeces.


The name ruminant means ” Chewing The Cud” and it’s a name given to those mammals of even – toed, cloven hoofed, such as Cattle, Sheep, Goats are ruminants.

Other groups of ruminant – like animals include the antelopes, deer, camels, llamas, hippopotamus, sloths and kangaroos.

The ruminant has a stomach consisting of four compartments (camels have three.)


The food is partly chewed then swallowed and it passes into the first compartment called the rumen. The large stomach has no digestive juices or excretory glands present and the food is attacked by large numbers of living protozoa, microbes and bacteria which already are present in the walls of the ruminant stomach. The breakdown of cellulose, which plants are largely composed of takes place in this section of the stomach and the food is regurgitated from time to time into the mouth in small amounts and slowly chewed to a pulp, and when food is swallowed again, it enters a second compartment called the reticulum.


This section of the stomach breaks down the cellulose further and passes it to the third compartment called the omasum.


The omasum contains large leaf – like structures that increases the surface area for effective water absorption, there the muscles stir and reduce it further until it enters the fourth compartment, called the abomasum.


“True Stomach” A stomach much like ours. In this organ gastric juice is secreted, it contains hydrochloric acid which kills most of the microbes and begins digesting them and their contents are then absorbed to provide essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids.

Ruminants have specialized metabolisms due to the presence of digestive bacteria. Protein needs are supplied by the rumen bacteria which use simple substances urea and inorganic sulphates to manufacture these proteins. This is a major difference between ruminants and other animals because they produce their own protein. Protein is a dietary requirement of all other animals.


In most ruminants (Cattle, Sheep, Goats) there is a absence of upper incisors – replaced by a hard “Dental Pad” well formed even lower incisors. Well developed molars and premolars for grinding movement is “Lateral”. The toothless gap between incisors and premolars allows the tongue to manipulate the food. Chewing movements acts as a stimuli, leads to increased salivation, particularly on the side on which the chewing is done. In cattle up to 200 litres may be produced in 24 hours. The saliva is rich in bicarbonate, which serves to neutralize the fatty acids produced by fermentation.

Can Women Become Addicted to Semen Like a Drug?

Can women become addicted to semen, as if it were some form of drug? Surprisingly, scientific studies say, “yes.”

This might raise some eyebrows among feminists, but scientific results do show this to be the case. They are not sure exactly why (chemically), but women can become reliant on a man’s semen.

The semen must be introduced vaginally and not orally. Orally it doesn’t seem to have any affect, probably because the contents of the semen get broken down and denatured from the stomach acids. The affective-chemical component is rendered useless during this method of application.

What scientists have found, is that when a woman has vaginal sex with a man; and the man ejaculates inside of her, that the semen, if it is not washed out immediately, gets absorbed by the lining of the vagina and makes its way into the bloodstream. Once the semen has been absorbed, it has been found that it not only aids in relieving anxiety and depression in women, but also cuts down on the pain, discomfort, and cramps that occur with the pre-menstrual cycle.

It’s found that, after a long period of time of semen introduced into the vagina during sex, that the woman will get used to the positive affects of the semen. If the semen is suddenly stopped from being deposited in the vagina, then the woman will have a return of associated menstrual discomfort and increased anxiety and depression. She will then have “semen withdrawls” and become more angry, hypersensitive, and irritable.

Biologically it has some logic in its nature of effect. While a man continually makes sperm, day-after-day and night-after-night, a woman only releases an egg once a month for fertilization. So the biological reason for “sex” as a form of just creating children is considerable lessened, as a woman is only fertile for a short period of time per month. However, there is an ancillary “pleasure” side of the sexual act that makes sex, at any time, pleasurable for both the man and the woman. This is one of the incentives that helps keep couples together, in that, sex is not only for creation purposes, but that it is also for pleasurable purposes.

This being the case, having sex for pleasurable purposes, irrespective of creation purposes, allows a man and a woman to engage in the sexual act on a more frequent basis, due to the reward of pleasure. Could it be that this is chemically related to the biological idea that a man will, thus, deposit his semen in a woman on a more frequent basis?

Gastroenterologists Owe Their Modern Techniques to Doctors Shinya and Wolff

Though both of these men initially practiced as surgeons, today’s gastroenterologists can thank Japanese-born doctor Hiromi Shinya and his for his contribution to their field of medicine. The colonoscopy has become a common procedure used to diagnose and treat conditions of the gastrointestinal tract.

Dr. Shinya’s Life and Career

Born in 1935 in Yunagawa, Japan, Hiromi Shinya graduated medical school in 1960 and was selected to an exclusive internship at the United States Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, a placement requiring excellent English skills. This paved his path to the US where he entered residency at Beth Israel in New York City as a general surgeon. While he was a senior resident in the 1960’s, he and cardiothoracic surgeon William Wolff began collaborating over their shared interest in a new fiber-optic endoscope technology, which they thought could improve screening for colon polyps and cancers.

A Major Development

In 1969, Shinya and Wolff performed some of the first modern colonoscopies. The advantage of this new method was its ability to inspect the entire length of the large intestine. Previously, intestinal polyps were only observed when painful symptoms occurred, and required abdominal surgery when identified. The new procedure removed much of the uncertainty surrounding this medical issue. Additionally, they honed the technique so that only one physician was needed to perform a colonoscopy while other methods required two.

Eventually, they tested Dr. Shinya’s design, a tiny wire loop that could remove a polyp right during the procedure, eliminating the need for surgery entirely. The team performed over 2,000 procedures before making their findings public to the medical community, which they did in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1973. Gastroenterologists were initially slow to adopt this approach, wary of it being surgical in nature, but by the 1980’s the colonoscopy had become a widely accepted practice.

Importance of Colonoscopies

Before these two doctors changed the landscape of this field of medicine, the danger of intestinal polyps was underestimated. Today, it is common knowledge among physicians that they often progress from small benign growths to carcinoma, or cancerous tumors. For this reason, many medical societies recommend a screening at age 50, followed by another each decade thereafter. It is currently the best tool available to prevent the development of colon cancers. It has been estimated that each year, this procedure prevents tens of thousands of new cases of cancer.

In addition to its use for preventing and diagnosing cancer, gastroenterologists in the US use colonic endoscopy to diagnose and observe other diseases of the GI tract, most notably Irritable Bowel Disease, Crohn’s Disease, and ulcerative colitis.

The newest enhancement of this type of exam is the Virtual Colonoscopy, which uses computer imaging to show the findings of a completely non-invasive scan. This technique is still under development and testing, and it remains to be seen whether it will eventually supplant the regular colonoscopy. Once a cutting-edge development in its own right, the work of Dr. Wolff and Dr. Shinya is now a standard for gastroenterologists and surgeons.
