Christian Relationship Help: How Anxiety in Difficult Relationships Contributes to the Dysfunction

Are you looking for Christian relationship help to enable you to understand how anxiety in difficult relationships contributes to the dysfunction? Then this article will help you.

Anxiety is a sense of disquiet or dis-ease that is experienced as mental or emotional distress. Anxiety isn’t comfortable and people usually react to get rid of the anxiety that comes from all types of problems in difficult relationships.

Reactivity takes one of two major forms to manage the anxiety: People either typically under-react or overreact. Here is how each of those are exhibited in the relationship:

1. Under-react – People distance, shut-down, become dependent or incompetent, or avoid feelings by engaging in activity, pursue addictions, and/or withdraw.

2. Overreact – People say too much, try to control, hover, talk, fix, tell others what to do, take the lead, become emotionally intense, fight, blame, push to resolve, and/or seek closeness and reassurance.

The formula works like this: Anxiety + Reactivity = Dysfunction and More Anxiety + More Reactivity = More Dysfunction. The solution is therefore to manage the anxiety in a healthy way so you won’t under-react or overreact.

You do this by facing your fears and managing your anxiety to calm things down. This will allow you to make better choices. You also need to learn how to speak the truth in love, let go or things that you can’t control, set boundaries, take care of yourself, detach with love, and focus on changing yourself.

Recognizing that your loved ones are also experiencing anxiety in the relationship and reacting to it may help you to understand why they do what they do. This should help you to react less to them. If you can identify the anxiety and deal with it in a more effective way, it will make discussion, understanding, resolution, and discussion more likely and will definitely keep things less dysfunctional and crazy even it only changes your reactions.

God says this about anxiety: “Do not be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7, NIV). Peace prevents you from overreacting and under-reacting. It helps you to process the situation by bringing it to the Lord first which allows you to handle it in ways that come not from fear but from strength.

How to Relax Your Mind and Reduce the Stress of Day to Day Living

Ultimately, we all have the power to choose how we are going to react to day to day stresses. We do indeed have the ability to minimize the negative effects of stress purely by our conscious attitude towards the source of our stress. But until we have mastered control over our thoughts patterns, there are physical and mental exercises that will mitigate the damaging effects of stress. The following methods will show you just how to relax your mind and body and reduce the stress of day to day living.

It's no secret that we are all living with too much stress: our economy, cost of living, health issues, tensions at the office, relationship tensions, and the news media. Just never listening to the news, in itself would be the therapeutic and would contribute greatly to our peace of mind and well being. But alas, we all succumb to curiosity and we think we need to know what is happening. So we listen and we read. These are all things that are part of life and can not be avoided. The good news is that there is much we can do to alleviate some of this wear and tear on our psyches and bodies. You can learn how to relax your mind.

We do not have to be ravaged by life!

These days most of us, in practice all of our everyday activities, are driving with the brakes on.

The worst part is, we are not even consciously aware that the brakes are in use, nor that the severe loss of energy from our clenched jaw or other constricted muscles results in serious physical and mental fatigue.

Tension is wasted effort, a drain on the adrenals, and a squandering of energy into tasks that should be done automatically. A good example of this is the speaker who tries too hard to speak correctly and starts to stutter and becomes tongue-tied. Tension (the brakes) becomes an unconscious habit. That habit spells the end of relaxation, and is fertile ground for stress-related maladies. Knowing how to relax your mind takes practice and diligence.

The mind / body connection here is indisputable. In order to relax your mind you must relax your body. According to the tenets of Hatha Yoga, in order to relax the body, paradoxically, we must first produce more tension, this time conscious tension.

Here is one of the best "exercises" for relieving tension:

Lie flat on the floor, arms at your side. A series of long, slow breaths (in and hold, out and hold), will help to begin the process of relaxation. Inhale deeply, and each time you exhale, feel your spanish melt a little deer into the floor. Feel your muscles let go. But as we said, in order to relax one must first produce more tension. Start with your left leg. Tense all its muscles – the calf, the thigh, the buttocks – as tightly as you can. Squeeze hard. Harder. Then let go. Relax totally and let your leg "disappear" until you can not feel it anymore. Repeat the process with your right leg. Continue, tensing and releasing your left arm, then your right, your abdomen, your face, until your whole body seems to have "disappeared". Continue crying there, breathing, floating on air, as long as you like. Relax your body. Relax your mind and let the stress float away.

As you go through the day observe tension in your body. Do you have the "nervous habit" of fidgeting with your hands? Do you clench them? Do you scrunch up your face or furrow your brow? Do you wiggle your foot? This is nervous tension sending fight or flight signals to the body. Not as innocent as we might think, this tension taxes the adrenal glands and stresses the nervous system. Learn to stay conscious of these signs of stress. When the hands are tense the whole body is geared for action. Learning to relax your hands when you are under pressure will give you a feeling of relief and mastery. The rest of your body will eventually get the message and relaxation will become your new habit.

Breathing is key to body relaxation. Anxiety has taken most of us by the throat. We severely dare to breathe deeply anything, and our breathing has become shallow. Breathing deeply is as important as eating lunch. When you take your lunch break, also take five minutes to inhale deep, slow, belly breaths. Fill your belly with fresh air. Hold the breath in, then exhale slowly. Hold the air out for several seconds. Repeat this process at least five times. Let deep breathing become a habit. It slows the heart rate, relaxes the muscles and clears the mind. This is an excellent technique for how to relax your mind and reduce stress.

The workplace is stress's playground. People are bombarded with stress related challenges at work. Give yourself a break and be sure that the chair you sit in is ergonomically designed to properly align your body and prevent unnecessary tension on muscles and joints. Sitting in a chair that has been engineered for human activity and the human body is more essential that most people realize. And it's not just physical. It also affects how oxygen is being absorbed by your brain cells, which has to do with how well you are able to think.

During your work day, take time to walk around the office in hourly intervals and if possible get out into some fresh air several times a day.

Finally, practice smiling. There is a mind / body connection with the smile. It announces to the body that all is well, which then sends a message to the brain that all is well. And, this also sends a message to your colleagues that all is well, so that they will turn smile and be better, healthier and happier, too. A simple smile is one superb method for how to relax your mind and reduce stress.

Building By The Square Foot

How much material is it going to take to do the job? What is the labor cost for the project?

These are questions a contractor requests himself when bidding a job. In most cases a contractor
will use the square foot method to determine the answer to those questions.

This method of take off is particularly handy in figuring sheet good type materials such as
wall sheathing, plywood deck, roof sheathing and drywall. To find the square footage for
one of these areas, multiply the height or width times (x) the length. For example if you
have an eight foot high wall by 40 feet long the square footage for the wall would be 320
square feet. Most sheet goods are 4 feet by 8 feet or 32 square feet. The square footage of
the wall is divided by 32. It will take 10 sheets of plywood or insulated sheathing to cover
this wall.

This same method can be used to figure the plywood or OSB for the house deck and roof. To
figure the deck simply multiply the width of the deck by the length to get the square
foot and division by 32. Figuring the square Footage of a roof is similar but with a twist.

For the roof multiply the length of the rafters by the length of the roof. Take the result
times 2 for the total square footage for both sides of a gable roof, then divide by 32 to
get the amount of plywood to sheet the roof. The square footage of a hip roof is illustrated the
same way.

Drywall is also figured by the square foot. This can be an involved process. It can be
broken down into two parts. First the square footage for the ceilings can be illustrated. Like
the deck this is figured length times width. Then the lineal feet of all the walls is taken
times the height. Interior walls will be added in twice because they have drywall on both
sides. Labor to hang, tape, and paint the drywall is also figured this way.
Beside drywall and painting, many other labor costs are illustrated by the square foot. Roofing
and siding are figured by the square. A square is 100 square feet. For example if a roof is
1200 square feet, it will take 12 squares of shingles to cover it. The same unit of
measurement goes for vinyl, wood, aluminum, steel and cement sidings.

Carpentry makes use of this measurement also. The cost to frame a house is usually figured
by the square foot. Costs to build a whole house are estimated this way to help people
determine if a house or its house plans are affordable for them to build.

Flooring is also one of those things that use the square foot method to figure labor
and materials. This includes ceramic and quarry tiles, hardwood, laminate, and vinyl
flooring, and carpeting. Most contractors and installers use a price per square foot for
their labor when calculating their costs for installation.

This information will help you understand contractor estimates and help you do your own
calculations for projects.

Autoimmune Arthritis: What You Must Know

Do you ever experience swollen joints and muscle stiffness? Do the tips of your fingers have bony nodules? Do both of your knees ache and swell when walking? Have you ever been diagnosed with “Inflammatory Arthritis”, and then told that your only recourse is taking medications that may or may not temporarily help with inflammation, yet not the disease itself? If it is indeed Arthritis, how do you determine which type, and what natural changes can you make in your lifestyle to reduce inflammation? There are over 100 types of arthritis and related conditions, and each type has a variety of natural methods to help alleviate its secondary conditions, by addressing its root cause and primary condition. 46 million people currently have Arthritis in the U.S., and that number is expected to rise to 70 million within by the year 2030. Let’s touch on the most popular types, Rheumatoid and Psoriatic Arthritis, and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), listed below:

Rheumatoid Arthritis: A chronic disease that affects nearly 2.1 million Americans, approximately 75% of those affected are female. According to the Journal, Arthritis & Rheumatism, an estimated 300,000 children under age 18 have arthritis or a rheumatic condition, which is roughly 1 in every 250 U.S. children. It is also the most popular cause of disability in U.S. adults for the past twenty years. It tends to affect pairs of joints; for example, both knees and both hands, and can affect the spine as well. It is NOT structurally based, and can be aggravated by the body’s reaction to inflammatory foods and improper diet. It is closely linked to a condition called “Leaky Guy Syndrome.”

Psoriatic Arthritis: A chronic skin and inflammation disease that is most prevalent in people in their 40’s or 50’s, affecting both genders equally. It can occur in many joints; most often in the tips of fingers (distal phalanges) and toes. They look like a pair of mini nodules that are hard and tender. Roughly 80% of patients who suffer with this type of Arthritis develop the skin disease Psoriasis earlier in life. Generally milder than its cousin Rheumatoid Arthritis, it does not affect matching pairs of joints. Symptoms unique to this condition include bony nodules on digits, pitted nails, sausage-like appearance of fingers and toes, eye inflammation, and grayish spots on the elbows, knees, and lower spine.

Lupus (SLE): Another cousin to Rheumatoid and Psoriatic Arthritis, Lupus occurs in approximately 2 million people in the U.S. In fact, more people suffer with Lupus than cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, and multiple sclerosis combined. This condition is nine times more prevalent in women than in men. Interestingly, the term “Lupus” means “wolf”. Symptoms unique to Lupus are a “red butterfly rash” in the face that spans under the eyes, across the bridge of the nose, and into the cheeks. This red coloration, “Erythematosus“, means “redness”. It affects many parts of the body, and is often accompanied with skin rashes, fever, fatigue, and kidney problems. Lupus can have “flare-ups” as well, often caused by medicines, environment, inflammatory foods, and stress.

All three Arthritides listed above are classified as Autoimmune diseases, and occurs when the body attacks its own cells, causing swelling in joints, redness, stiffness, pain, and can cause deformity in bone, and surrounding soft tissue. These conditions can also affect various soft tissues and organs in the body, including the digestive tract (where the majority of your immune system is located). Because Autoimmune Arthritides have a genetic component, people inflicted can react in varying ways.

Chiropractic care can help many people affected by these types of Arthritis by gently mobilizing joints and decreasing pain with spinal and extremity adjustments. Along with spinal correction by a structural based chiropractor, stretching is very important. Stretching helps to lessen tightness in muscles, and increase blood flow and oxygenation in joints to promote healing.

Nutritionally, consuming anti-inflammatory foods are extremely helpful, along with Omega-3 fish oils and Glucosamine. Glucosamine can help aid in repair of cartilage, muscles and ligaments, by assisting in producing glycosaminoglycan, a necessary molecule used in the formation and repair of joint cartilage. Inquire with your doctor before considering. In addition, consuming an anti-inflammatory diet is a must: Avoid all dairy (yes, even cheese), foods based with white flour, pasta, potatoes other than yams, and white rice, as all cause swelling and bloating. Foods such as pineapples, lemons, papayas, berries, and ginger root, turmeric, green and white teas, kelp, broccoli, yams, shiitake mushrooms, and extra virgin olive oil, are terrific natural inflammatories.

There are several natural methods to address autoimmune arthritides. Many people are more than ever seeking natural corrections to address the causes of autoimmune diseases, and not merely “patch or cover-up” its pain and other associated secondary conditions.

Ankle Braces – Better Than Casts For Ankle Sprains

An ankle sprain usually comes as a result of landing on the ankle improperly during sports or other daily activities. It is important that the injury is treated promptly in order to ensure proper healing. Certain protocols are used to reduce the swapping, decrease the pain, and reduce the amount of pressure that is put on the ankle. Medical professionals teach their patients to use the RICE technique for healing an ankle sprain. This is an acronym for rest, ice, compression, and elevation.

Rest: You should stay off of your feet as much as possible. Using crutches for any necessary walking will reduce the pressure on the injured ankle.

Ice: You should ice the ankle immediately and as often as possible. This will help to decrease swelling and minimize the pain.

Compression: This helps push swing away from the ankle. An elastic support or ankle brace is ideal for this.

Elevation: Supporting Keeping the ankle above the heart will help reduce swelling and lessen the pain of the sprained ankle.

Pain relievers and over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medications such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen can be very helpful. Less pain means getting back to regular activities more quickly as well as being more comfortable during the healing process.

It is important to keep some motion in the ankle during the healing process. Years ago the most common treatment was to put the ankle in a plaster cast, but this causes muscle degeneration which makes the ankle weaker and more prone to re-injury even after the sprain has healed. Using ankle braces is much more effective as it allows just enough movement and pressure to be placed on the ankle to keep it strong, but not enough to cause more damage. Another great advantage is the ability to remove the ankle braces in order to bathe.

It generally takes about six weeks for the ligaments to fully heal and the swelling and tenderness can often last for a couple of months. You may even need some physical therapy in order to fully regain proper use of the ankle after a serious sprain. Using mild ankle braces for physical activity is probably an excellent recommendation and this should be done for an extended period of time (a year or longer, sometimes indefinitely).

It is important to follow your doctor's advice and wear your ankle braces as long as directed in order to avoid ankle instability. This condition will keep you feeling as though the sprain is ready to return and make future sprains much more likely.

If ankle instability does occur, your doctor will likely recommend physical therapy to strengthen the ankle and surrounding muscles as well as supportive ankle braces to help distribute weight bearing on the ankle.

Ankle braces are definitely a better choice than casting for ankle sprains. Most people heal much more quickly and experience a reduced risk of ankle instability by using ankle braces. There are several styles to choose from and they are adjustable to ensure a perfect fit.

Penis Bruising and Bending: Causes, Symptoms and When to Get Help

The penis is a fairly resilient appendage: it has to be, since it is normally well used over the course of a lifetime. But even though it is designed to take rough treatment, at least to an extent, it is possible to cause more permanent damage to the penis. When something isn’t quite right, it’s important to know the difference between minor bruising and more serious injury, as well as the right steps to take to safeguard overall penis health.

Bruised penis

Vigorous masturbation or intercourse can lead to contusions below the surface of the skin that appear darker than the surrounding skin – most people will recognize the bluish or purplish discoloring as a typical bruise. A bruise occurs when the fine blood vessels under the outer dermal layer are torn due to pressure, such as aggressive squeezing of the penis during masturbation.

A penis bruise generally heals on its own, over a period of two to four weeks and may take on a greenish or yellowish appearance before finally disappearing. Abstaining from masturbation or sex may help to speed healing. In addition, penis nutrients such as vitamin C, which is needed for the formation of vascular tissue (blood vessels) may promote healing and help to restore a healthy appearance to the penis skin. Using a lubricant during sexual activity and keeping the skin properly moisturized can help to reduce the effects of friction and pressure.

While bruises may be tender to the touch initially, they should not cause a great deal of discomfort or pain. Penis bruises that are painful or do not heal after 3 to 4 weeks should be treated by a doctor. If bruises are accompanied by other symptoms, such as painful urination, it is important to consult with an urologist or general practitioner for an accurate diagnosis of the problem.

Bent penis

Many men have a penis that is not perfectly straight; a small degree of bending or curvature in one direction or another is perfectly normal. However, a penis that develops a pronounced bend or curve, especially following an injury, could be at risk for Peyronie’s disease, an uncomfortable and potentially disfiguring condition.

The erectile tissue inside the penis – the corpora cavernosa – consists of a spongy material that fills with blood on stimulation, allowing an erection to occur. When the penis is injured, whether due to sudden trauma or chronic rough handling, scar tissue or plaques may form around the corpora cavernosa. These plaques can prevent the tissue underneath it from expanding causing something like a bowstring effect. As the unaffected tissue expands during an erection, this causes a bend in the penis that may be pronounced, in which case Peyronie’s disease may be diagnosed. A penis that is unnaturally bent or curved in this manner can cause a great deal of discomfort and in some cases it may make penetration difficult or impossible. In some instances, impotence may result.

Men who are diagnosed with Peyronie’s disease often resort to surgery to correct the condition, which involves removing the scar tissue and replacing it with a tissue graft, a process which sometimes leads to penile dysfunction.

While it is not always possible to avoid injury or to prevent the occurrence of Peyronie’s disease, men can take steps to promote overall penis health and to reduce the risk of injury through proper nutrition and hydration of the penis.

Promoting a healthy penis

Like the rest of the body, the penis needs proper nutrition to keep the nerves, skin and blood vessels in working order. Applying a specialized formula containing penis vitamin (most health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) such as vitamins A and C can help to keep the skin and underlying connective tissue healthy and supple. In addition, natural moisturizers such as shea butter and vitamin E can help to prevent injury by keeping the effects of friction to a minimum.

How to Play Defense One-on-One

1) Stay Between the Forward and the Net.

When playing defense in Hockey, you can never go wrong with the basic principal of keeping yourself between the opposing player and the net. One-on-Ones are a perfect example.

Keep Him to the Outside

When a hockey player on the other team is heading into your zone with the puck, your goal is to keep him to the outside towards the boards. His chances of scoring from the outside are far less than if he beats you on the inside. The best way to do this is with your body position. If the player is coming in down the middle of the ice, position yourself directly in front of him.

Own the Centre Lane

If he’s coming in on the wing, line up slightly towards the centre of the ice. Your outside shoulder should more or less line up with his inside shoulder. This encourages him to try to beat you to the outside, where he’s less of a threat. Picture a wide imaginary lane down the middle of the ice, and keep the other player outside of that lane. The tricky part is controlling the amount of space, or the gap, between you and the other player.

2) Control the Gap

A Gap Too Wide will allow the forward to cut to the inside. Or, it may give him enough room to get in close to the goalie for a shot, using you as the screen. You don’t want the gap to be much wider than about two lengths of a hockey stick.

A Gap Too Narrow, and you run the risk of letting him get around you if you’re unable to check him.

Willie Mitchell of the Canucks uses a much more deceptive approach. In an interview with the Vancouver Sun, Willie explains how he baits the forward into, “Taking the candy.”

“I call it taking the candy,” Mitchell said Monday, explaining his ability to bait opposing forwards. “The game of hockey is all about putting someone in position where they react, so they’re taking the candy.

“When I have my gap [defending an opposing forward], I hold my stick real close to my body, so it looks like there’s a lot of ice in front of me. The forward wants to make his move as close to the defenseman as possible because he wants the defenseman to bite so [the forward] can go around him. They come in to make a move — they take the candy — but then I move my stick out and poke the puck away. On a rush, that’s how I play it.

“In the defensive zone, it’s the same way. I’ll give them the pass and they think: Oh, I’ll make the pass backdoor. But I gave them that space. Now they make the pass; they take the candy. And I’ll put my stick there and break it up.

“You want to put them in an uncomfortable position. Instead of you taking the candy, you want them to take it.”

Even after the forward makes his move, try to stay between him and the net. You won’t stop them all, but you’ll make it as tough on them as possible.

3) Watch Their Hips

One-on-Ones in hockey can be tricky against an experienced puck carrier. These guys are just dying to deke you out and score that highlight reel goal. Watching their hips will help prevent you from getting deked-out in your own zone.

Mr. Deke

Once you’ve correctly positioned yourself between the opposing hockey player and the net, Mr. Deke will try to fake you out any way he can. As you know, Mr. Deke has a hockey bag full of tricks. I’ve been deked out of my shorts way too many times by guys like this. The infamous toe-drag usually gets me. Mr. Deke entices me with the puck by strategically placing it barely within my reach, sucking me in to try a poke-check. But he’s way ahead of me. As soon as I reach out for the puck, he pulls off his patented toe-drag maneuver and goes right through me. The next think I know he’s behind me, deking out the goalie as well. I hate getting undressed by these guys.

Don’t Stare at the Puck

The best hockey tip I’ve been given on this is to watch his hips as he’s coming in on you. An experienced forward will try to fake you out with the puck, his head, his shoulders, a change of speed, or anything else he’s got up his sleeve. If you focus on his chest or the crest on his jersey, he may even deke you with his entire upper body. The worst thing you can do is watch the puck. Keep the puck in your peripheral vision, but don’t stare down at it.

The Hips Don’t Lie

He is not going anywhere without his hips, so keep your eyes on them. A hip can’t be dropped like a shoulder, or quickly dart around like a head-fake. With your eyes at waist level, it also makes it a little easier to keep the puck within your peripheral vision. Watch their hips, not the puck.

4) Keep your Stick out in Front

Keep your stick on the ice out in front of you, with one hand on the stick. Not in the air, not off to the side. Pointing your stick at the hockey player coming in allows you the flexibility of swinging it towards whichever side he tries to go around you.

Be Patient

Let the forward make the first move, then react to it. If you lunge at the puck and miss, you could find yourself right out of the play.

I used to sweep my stick from side to side. Against slower hockey players, I would sometimes be able to get my stick on the puck and slow them down, or even whack the puck over to the boards. But it doesn’t always work. The Hot Shots would often time their move just after one of my stellar sweep attempts. My stick would be out to one side, and they would go around me on the opposite side. Burned again.

If you notice the forward is having trouble with the puck, that’s the time to try a poke-check. Otherwise, just keep your stick out in front and be ready when he makes his move.

How to Increase Pancreas Function

If average individuals would be asked where their pancreas is located or the function of the pancreas, many of them would scratch their head. You may hear the vague answer "It is somewhere inside the stomach", "pancreas causes diabetes", "pancreatic cancer is an awful disease" and so on.

The pancreas is a vital organ for our body. People can survive without the stomach, small intestine and colon but not long without the pancreas. Life depends on this small gland, deeply hidden inside the abdomen cavity. The pancreas is an organ with dual tasks. Most individuals are only aware about the role of the pancreas in sugar metabolism and that pancreas produces insulin, the vital hormone to prevent diabetes.

The second function of the pancreas is producing digestive enzymes – powerful proteins that split food we eat into particles small enough to travel through the intestinal wall so that we can digest and assimilate this food.

Only by using our pancreatic digestive enzymes, we can transform our food into the energy and make our own cells. Without pancreatic digestive enzymes we could not live. The function of many organs and systems and the whole body's health, consistently depend upon the health of our digestive system and especially our pancreas.

What is happened if pancreas produces low amount or not good quality of digestive enzymes?

Our digestive system is long muscular tube, stretching from the mouth to the anus. Pancreas releases pancreatic juice filled with digestive enzymes into the duodenum – the first part of the small intestine. Small intestine is the most important place for digestion of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. There is also place for vitamins and minerals to get into our system.

Without proper amount of pancreatic enzymes indigested food fermented, spoiled, rot by intestinal micro organisms and irritates the intestinal walls. To get rid of this waste our body has just two openings: mouth and anus.

Ask anyone around and almost everyone has some sort of incompetent GI symptoms: gas, abdominal distention, belching, heartburn, abdominal cramps, pains, nausea / vomiting, diarrhea / constipation, and so on. These are symptoms of indigestion and have strong correlation with low pancreatic function.

Most human diseases depend on two big problems:
1. The deficiency of vital substances in the body such as water, proteins, minerals, trace elements, vitamins and so on: As your car without gasoline would stop moving, so will the deficiency of the vital nutrients stop the organs from performing their proper tasks.

2. Toxicity (chemical or biological): Toxicity literally kills the cells and harmfully influencing the body's metabolismism causing inflammation, pain, cancer development and so on.
These two factors are directly related to pancreatic health.

The pancreas is a hard worker. It produces normally almost 60-85 oz of a clear, colorless, alkaline fluid. This is pancreatic juice, which consist of very important ingredients for digestion such as water, minerals, proteins, bicarbonates and enzymes.

Non-processed, natural, whole food consistants of plenty of digestive enzymes. Lack of these enzymes in the modern foods causes huge effort for pancreas to manufacture its digestive enzymes. Therefore, many modern people have large pancreases.

Chemicals such as preservatives, colorings, additives, hormones, antibiotics, pesticides in the processed food are not healthy for pancreas. The worst enemy for pancreas is also alcohol. Alcoholic pancreatititis; inflammation of this gland caused by alcohol is the most common pancreatic disorder.

So, how to increase pancreas function naturally? By common sense, we need to supply the body with natural digestive enzymes from food. Pancreas is alkaline gland since our food has to be alkaline with sufficient amount of the minerals, bicarbonates and vitamins for proper manufacturing of pancreatic digestive enzymes and appropriate alkaline environment to work.

Any actions to decrease inner toxicity such as drinking water, healing mineral water, herbal teas, juices and blends, colon hydrotherapy, massage, infrared sauna, controlling constipation, reestablishing friendly intestinal flora, etc., may help to cleanse the pancreas.

Europeans widely practice vacation in healthy mineral spas. Healthy foods, drinking healing mineral water, massage, colonics, and exercises improve health of thousands of people in Europe and another countries.
Balneotherapy (healing with mineral water) is known science in European medical schools so many European doctors recommend their patients with chronic pancreatic disorders treating mineral spas.

The most known drinking healing mineral water is from the Karlovy Vary resort in the Czech Republic – the spa pearl of Europe. The Czech town of Karlovy Vary has been a famous international mining mineral water resort since 18 century. Europeans call the town's mineral water "healing gift from the earth" or the "miracle mineral water." Guests from Europe and Asia took a trip to Karlovy Vary for one to six month stays to drink the Karlovy Vary Healing Mineral Water (KVHMW) for different chronic health conditions, cleansing and detoxification.

Hundreds years this healing mineral water was distributed all over the Europe by bottles and barrels until 1764, a method was discovered that made it possible to vaporize the water and make mineral salt. Czech doctors find out that the mineral water produced from the genuine Karlovy Vary thermal spring salt had the same healing properties as at the spring.

From that time on, people who could not travel to Karlovy Vary could undergo or continue the treatment at home.

A lot of scientific studies were done by European doctors to verify the healing action of the Karlovy Vary healing mineral water on pancreatic health by:
• Supplying essential minerals and microelements for the manufacture of digestive enzymes
• Supplying bicarbonates, the main ingredient of pancreatic juices (pancreatic enzymes can work only in an alkaline environment)
• Increasing secretion of pancreatic juices
• Increasing digestive activity of pancreatic enzymes
• Neutralizing high levels of gastric acid
• Opening the Sphincaster of Oddi (this decrees pressure in the system, promotions secretion and elimination of pancreatic juices and decrees congestion)

Some spices and healing herbs have a long history of using in digestive disorders. They not only improve the taste of food, but help to digest this food without gas, abdominal distention, nausea, stomach pains, diarrhea or constipation and protect people from harmful parasites and microorganisms.

All pancreatic enzymes are proteins connected with minerals or trace elements. Very important for health of pancreas and whole digestive system is proper supply of magnesium, potassium, cobalt, sulfur, zinc. Lack of sufficient amount of these compounds in the modern foods requires their nutritional supplement for proper production of the pancreatic digestive enzymes.

Normal pancreas function depends upon actions of some water and fat-soluble vitamins. From the other hand, low quality and low amount of the pancreatic enzymes diminish digestion of these vital nutrients causing vicious circle. Taking essential vitamins from foods or supplements is a very important step to normal digestive (pancreatic) health.

Human pancreas has a huge amount of the functional capacity. Real symptoms of the pancreatic failure such as chronic diarrhea with indigested fats and foul-smelling stool, losing weight and weakness occurs when 90% of pancreatic function gone. Until that time, chronic indigestion is sign of low pancreatic function. Increasing pancreas function naturally without drugs is possible by supervision of the knowledgeable health professionals

Understand Oil Production in Your Teenage Skin

Well, for those that can focus their attention for a couple of minutes, we'll soon discuss where the oil comes from and what a good product should do to help out with a remedy.

It's all in the glands

People always blame their glands, but this time it's true! Yep, it's the glands that are to blame for the oily, shiny appearance on the surface of your teenage skin. In fact, the little blighters can be found peppered all over the nose, forehead, moving down to the knees and finally on the chin.

When these glands decide to 'kick in' it is time to shine because the sebum produced appears on the skin via the pores.

For boys, it's not so good

A teenage boy's skin can experience a texture change in awareness. This change means that the texture can actually become coarser, and therefore more sensitive to the aforementioned sebaceous glands. Acne is more common in teenage boys because male hormones exacerbate sensitivity in the glands.Teenage girls are luckier

Because of estrogen, the quantities of sebum (oil) is reduced (although I'm sure some teenage girls would have a different view). Depending on the menstrual cycle, this can vary and some often experience an increase of both oil and spots at this time.

So what's the answer?

Well there are several. For girls, remove your make up before going to bed. For all teenagers, avoid picking spots and using harsh medicated products that strip your skin of oil and leave it looking inflamed.

Use products that are gentle and with a good pedigree, for example those founded on education and careful research. There are manufacturers who will go to great lengths to address issues with teenage skin. Consultation with teenagers themselves is one very effective way to find out what works and what does not.

Gaining this understanding appeals to not only skin problems, but also addressing the psychological issues can help teenagers build a better relationship with their skin.

Fruit, veg and plenty of water can help to improve the overall condition of the skin, as well as using cosmetics that are oil, or essentially oil free.

Colon Infection Causes, Symptoms And Treatment

The term "colon infection" can be used in various ways to include a number of different colon disorders and conditions.

When used by doctors, however, it usually refers to a disorder caused by the Clostridium difficile bacteria – more commonly known as C. difficile or simply C diff.

Most C. diff colon infections are experienced by older adults who are in a hospital or living in a nursing home or other long term care facility. The reason they get these infections is the fact that they're taking antibiotics to cope with some other health problem.

The problem occurs because antibiotics not only kill bacteria that cause sickness – they also kill bacteria in our intestines which help us digest our food properly. Without enough of this beneficial bacteria, C. diff takes over and grows rapidly. Once C. diff gets established, it causes an infection by producing a toxic substance that attacks the lining of the cells and intestines. The resulting infection causes abdominal pain and discomfort.

If your colon infection is fairly mild, it will probably go away when you stop taking the antibiotic. However, in cases in which the colon infection is more severe, an entirely different type of antibiotic may be needed to kill C. diff.

There are several kinds of antibiotics that seem to produce more colon infections than Clostridium difficile than others. These include fluoroquinolones, cephalosporins, penicillin and clindamycin.

C difficile bacteria is common in nature. It can be found in abundance in dirt and water, and also on plants. This bacteria, which is also found in the feces of humans and animals, tends to spread quickly in places where sanitation is poor. It floats easily in the air and can settle on surfaces where it can be transmitted to hands.

Avoiding C. diff bacteria can be done the same way you protect yourself from germs of all kinds: keep surfaces at home clean and wash your hands a lot. C diff produces spores that spread readily and can live on surfaces for months. Touching a surface where these germs have landed, and then touching your lips or mouth, could give them access to your digestive tract. This could start a chain of events that ends with a colon infection.

The fact that you have C. diff germs in your digestive tract does not always mean your going to get sick. But individuals who have C .. diff can certainly spread them to other people who will then develop a colon infection in turn.

In the last few decades, an increasing number of colon infections caused by C. difficile have been reported. A new form of Clostridium difficile bacterium has mutated which is even more aggressive. This type resists medicines that were effective before, resulting in several serious outbreaks in the last ten years or so.

Symptoms of a colon infection can take a long time to appear after C. differences get into your system. It can be months. When colon infection symptoms do appear, they may include those detailed below.

* Mild abdominal pain and tenderness, or stomach cramps.
* Very watery bowel movements and diarrhea that lasts at least two days.
* A type of severe colon inflammation known as colitis.
* The most disconcerting symptom may be raw tissue, blood, and pus that you'll notice in bowel movements ..
* Fever and nausea.
* Loss of appetite followed by loss of weight ..
* Signs of dehydration

It's time to call a doctor if you have these symptoms for 2-3 days or more.

Once it's been established that your colon infection has been caused by Clostridium difficile, your doctor will probably tell you to discontinue the antibiotic you've been taking. Even though your colon infection symptoms will probably improve, there are other treatment steps that may still be required.

The good news is this. There are other antibiotics you can take that will kill Clostridium difficile without destroying the helpful bacteria in your system. The most frequently prescribed among these are known as metronidazole and vancomycin. Side effects like nausea are possible with both, and they may also leave a bitter taste. It's especially important not to drink alcoholic beverages when taking metronidazole.

There are a number of probiotics that would be beneficial in restoring your intestinal tract Saccharomyces boulardii, a variety of yeast, has been effective for some patients when combined with medications.

Surgery is not usually performed, but may be done in sever cases.

Not all the treatments for a colon infection recommended above will work every time. When a colon infection returns, it's usually because the Clostridium difficile bacteria was not completely removed in the initial treatment. It can also come back because the individual has been exposed to a different strain.

Who Gets Fibroids? What About Fibroids Treatment?

Fibroids are fibrous tumors that grow in or on the wall of the womb (uterus). They are frequently a problem with women's reproductive systems. The technical medical term for fibroids is "leiomyoma" (which is pronounced, leye-oh-meye-OH-muh). For short, sometimes simply "myoma" is the name used.

Fibroids are almost never malignant (cancerous). They are almost always benign. They can grow in clusters of many or as single tumors. They can be as small as a small seed or as large as a cantaloupe.

Experts in the field tell us that 20% to 80% of all women will develop uterine fibroids before they reach the age of 50; they are most common in women who are in their 40's and early 50's.

African-American women are particularly prone to developing uterine fibroids. They seem to develop fibroids symptoms faster and more severely than other women. Probably 50 to 80 per cent of African-American women in the US will develop fibroids.

The large majority of fibroids show no symptoms, cause no problems. The woman with them may be completely unaware that they are even there. Some grow and cause problems, causing pain, putting pressure on the bladder causing frequent urination and heavy or irregular menstruation.

If fibroid symptoms develop there are several fibroids treatments possible. The treatment chosen will depend on age, severity of symptoms, general health, whether or not she is pregnant and whether she may want to have children in the future.

NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as ibuprofen or naprosyn may be recommended for women suffering from pain or cramps during menstruation.

Birth control pills may be prescribed to help control heavy periods and stop the fibroid from growing.

GnRH agonists (Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormonal Agonists) is regularly prescribed by Physicians as part of a course of fibroid treatment. For most receiving this drug, fibroids shrink by 1/3 to 1/2 after 2-3 months of treatments.

Uterine artery embolization is used to shut off the blood supply to fibroids which causes them to shrink and go away. This is a non-surgical procedure in which a catheter is threaded through certain arteries to inject a substance that blocks off the artery feeding the fibroid.

Surgery is a sure method, but is both invasive and expensive. The two kinds of surgery most commonly done are hysterectomy and myomectomy.

A hysterectomy means the surgical removal of the uterus. It may or may not include the cervix and ovaries. It's a common treatment for fibroids. Thirty per cent of all hysterectomies in the US are done because of fibroids.

There are also many alternative medicine treatments for controlling, shrinking and eliminating fibroids. These have become more and more popular as they demonstrate good results and as women seek alternatives to expensive surgery.

You should always get the advice of your personal physician or medical specialist before starting any new treatment. Talk to them about any questions you may have regarding any medical condition or problem.

Ovarian Cyst Surgery – Is It Necessary?

An ovarian cyst is a growth or swilling on or inside the ovary. It may be solid or filled with fluid. Many women may experience no symptoms when they have an ovarian cyst, in particular if it is small. Certain cysts may grow large and causes the abdomen to swell. Depending on where the cyst is and its size, it may cause gain gain, abnormal bleeding and painful menstrual periods, pain or pressure in the abdomen or during sex, breast tenderness or vomiting. Other symptoms may include sudden severe abdominal pain, faintness, dizziness or rapid breathing. So, when is an ovarian cyst surgery necessary?

If your cyst is discovered during pregnancy and is causing you many symptoms and too much discomfort, or is large in size, it may need to be removed. Cares must be taken to protect the baby and other reproductive organisms during the operation. You may be offered a laparoscopy at first to get a better view of the cyst. A laparoscopy allows the surgeon to look at the outside of the womb and at ovaries and fallopian tubes. It normally involves making two small cuts, one in the lower abdomen and the other near the navel. Air is then passed into the pelvic cavity to lift the abdominal wall away from the internal organs, and a small viewing instrument, called the laparoscope, is inserted through one of the insertion. An instrument used to manipulate the pelvic organs is inserted through the other small cut. This operation usually takes about 30 minutes and is normally done in the hospital. Depending on what is found, a technique called laparoscopy fenestration may follow. Using the same small cuts as an ordinary laparoscopy, the cyst is removed by draining its content. It will take about a week for the wound to heal.

If there are concerns that the cyst may burst and spill its content during removal, you may be advised to have a laparotomy done instead. This is a more complicated ovarian cyst surgery which involves making a much larger cut across the top of the pubic hairline. This surgery gives the surgeon better access to the cyst and the whole cyst can easily be removed then.

Whatever the surgeon removes anything else depends largely on your age, whether he or she believes in keeping women's organs intact and on what you have agreed to before the operation. If you are under forty and may want to have children, it is recommended that you leave the ovary intact. If you are over forty, the risk of cancer increases and as a preventive measure, your surgeon may recommend removing one ovary ("oophorectomy" surgery) or both ("bilateral oophorectomy" surgery) along with the fallopian tubes ("salpingectomy" surgery) and your womb ("hysterectomy" surgery). It is important to remember that removing both ovaries will cause premature menopause, even if you have not reach menopause. Even after menopause, the ovaries continue to produce small amounts of hormones that influence your sexual health. A hysterectomy is a major surgery and it involves a long recovery period afterwards. Here, it is not surprising that most women are associated to undergo such an operation specifically to prevent something which may never happen.

A Look at the Causes of Thrush

What is thrush? Thrush is a medical condition caused by the bacteria candida albicans – a normal flora within the human body – and it is usually found in the oral mucosa (mouth). It accumulates in the lining of the mouth in the form of white, creamy lesions. These lesions can also be found on the tongue and inner cheek, and if you scrape them they are likely to bleed. Oral thrush can spread to other parts like the roof of your mouth, gums, tonsils and the back of your throat. Oral thrush can affect anyone, but it is most common in babies, those who wear treatments, use inhaled corticosteroids and have compromised immune symptoms. The occurrence of oral thrush is not considered a big problem if you are healthy. However, if you have a weak immune system, it could become difficult to treat.

How do you know you have thrush? You may experience some or all of these symptoms and these include: loss of taste, a cotton-like feeling in your mouth, cracks at the corners of your mouth, slight bleeding if lesions are scratched or rubbed, pain, lesions with cottage cheese appearance , creamy white lesions on the tongue, inner cheek, roof of mouth, gums and tonsils. Some more severe symptoms include the spreading of the lesions down to your esophagus which is the long muscular tube that stretches from the back of your mouth down your throat to your stomach. This condition is called candida esophagitis, and when this happens, you have difficulty swallowing and it always feels as if there's something stuck in your throat.

So what are some of the causes of thrush? One of the important reasons for the presence of thrush is that of an immune system that is considered weakened. The body is unable to produce enough bacteria or white blood cells needed to fight against the candida albicans bacteria. There are several diseases that can cause this weakened immune system and they are listed below:

HIV / AIDS: The virus that causes aids is responsible for destroying and destroying all the cells in the body needed to fight against infections. If you keep getting oral thrush, this could be the first sign of an HIV infection.

Cancer: If you have this disease you are likely to also have a very weak immune system. Treatments like chemotherapy and radiation – which destroys both bad and good cells in the body – increases the risk of candida albicans infections.

Diabetes Mellitus: If you are unaware that you have diabetes or you are unable to control your blood sugar levels, then your saliva contains plenty of sugar that is necessary for the candida bacteria to grow in.

Vaginal or Penile Yeast Infections: This is caused by the candida albicans as well. This bacteria likes to live in warm, dark and moist areas, and these two locations are perfect areas for it to grow. It's always recommended to see your doctor or get tested to make sure you do not have yeast infection.

Now that you are aware of some of the causes of thrush it's important to find a cure – and one that can be used naturally to stop the problem coming back again and again each time getting worse.

Hepatitis Part III – How to Prevent Hepatitis With Foods

As we mentioned in previous articles, hepatitis is characterized by the destruction of a number of liver cells and the presence of inflammatory cells in the liver tissue caused by excessive alcohol drinking, disorders of the gall bladder or pancreas, medication side effects, and infections. Therefore strengthening your immune system and cleansing your body of toxins has become the most important factor in avoiding being infected by hepatitis virus. Here are some foods containing antioxidant and liver cleansing powers:

1. Fresh water algae
Fresh water algae contains high amounts of antioxidant-chlorophyll that has the power in strengthening the immune system to fight any bacteria and virus infection. It also helps in cleansing liver toxins as well as fat build-up in liver.

2. Whole grain products
Whole grain product stimulates the liver to rid the body of toxins, supports the heart and is rich in protein, B vitamins, and fiber. It also helps lower blood cholesterol, reduce tumors, strengthens the immune and treats hepatitis.

3. Green vegetable juices
The fresh raw vegetable juices are vitally important in the nutritional treatment of hepatitis. Green Vegetable juice contains high amounts of vitamin C, bioflavonoids, carotenoids, living plant enzymes to aid digestion & vitamin K resulting in cleansing of liver toxins as well as strengthening the immune system, helping to fight against hepatitis infection.

Legumes
Legumes contain the nutrients and good sources of water-soluble fibers that your body needs to produce and activate the dozens of enzymes involved in the various phases of detoxification.

5. Cold water fish
Cold water fish contain high amounts of essential fatty acids that helps to support the detoxification pathways in the liver, break down toxic chemicals and toxins from the blood stream. A healthy liver filter will keep your blood stream clean and free of dangerous toxins and microorganisms. The regular use of a liver tonic such as essential fatty acids support the repair of liver cells.

6. Limit daily intake of alcohol
Alcohol is a potent toxin to the liver. Excessive alcohol drinking can lead to cirrhosis and its complications, including liver cancer.

7. Stop smoking
Cigarette fumes contain high amounts of cadmium, a toxic chemical that causes not only blood clots but also weakens the immune system functioning by fighting against harmful viruses and detoxifying the liver.
