I highly recommend the Ayesha mask (good for women during that special time each month to help prevent breakouts) and the Mudflatts soap. Lush is reasonably priced considering the quality of their products.

Low Iron and Yeast Infections – Can Iron Deficiency Cause Yeast Infections in Women?

The question of whether or not there is a connection between low iron and yeast infection, particularly in women, is rather complex. But here, in simple language, you’ll find the answer as well as what actions to take.

Yeast infections are more common in individuals whose diets are usually low in iron. They are also very common in women during heavy menstruation when iron levels in the body diminish considerably. So there does seem to be a link between iron deficiency and yeast infections…

Yeast infections are caused by a yeast-like fungus called Candida albicans, which is normally kept under control by your body’s good bacteria. Only when it over-grows out of control does it turn into an infection.

So this good bacteria v bad bacteria ‘balance’ is important. But there are several things that can upset this balance. Two of them are a lowered immune system and friendly bacteria depletion…

1. Iron Deficiency and Your Immune System

One of the things that can affect your immune system is anemia which happens as a result of iron deficiency. So low iron, which leads to anemia, can compromise your immune system and so upset the delicate balance. This can then trigger an overgrowth of Candida leading to a yeast infection.

2. Bacteria and Iron Deficiency

Under healthy conditions, with optimum levels of iron, your beneficial bacteria work effectively. But so can the Candida, except that, the Candida needs ‘free’ iron to invade your body’s cells. And, in a healthy body, a protein called ‘Lactoferrin’ binds to the iron, so preventing the Candida from growing.

However, individuals with anemia have low levels of Lactoferrin. And because they have low iron their beneficial bacteria are less effective as well. So the balance is upset further still allowing the Candida to grow and spread.

So, if you suffer from low iron and you have a yeast infection then the two could be linked. For your general health in any case you need to get your iron back to optimum levels. And the best way is through diet…

Great sources of iron are; liver (especially), red meat, fish, poultry, eggs, whole grains, dark green leaf vegetables, peas, beans, potatoes, rice, and nuts. But ensure that the food you consume is sugar-free, because sugar is a staple diet of Candida.

You may also consider taking iron supplements but you must consult with your doctor before doing so. Another aid is vitamin C, which helps to absorb the iron. But again, talk to your doctor first to make sure that whatever you do is appropriate for your particular case, including your diet.

Painful and Itchy Penis – It Could Be a Latex Allergy

Condoms are an integral tool in the fight against sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies. When a condom is used right, that barrier can keep diseases out and can keep fertile eggs from meeting up with willing sperm. Unfortunately, most condoms are made of latex, and experts suggest that about 6 percent of the population is allergic to this substance. Proper penis care can help ease a latex reaction, and buying less inflammatory products in the future can keep new outbreaks from taking place.

A Natural Product

Latex is made from the milky fluids produced by a rubber tree. Particles in latex are packed together so tightly that even tiny germ particles can’t pass through, and the material is so strong that it rarely breaks, even when it’s pulled or pinched. It’s easy to see why this material would be idea for condom production, and it’s similarly understandable that medical experts would consider latex the gold standard when it comes to protecting men and women from the consequences of sex.

Latex allergies can crop up in almost anyone, but people who have a history of allergies or asthma are typically at greater risk. Their immune systems are just primed to react to signals from the outside world. People who wear rubber gloves at work or who make rubber products might be at increased risk as well, since allergies thrive on repeat exposure.

Common Symptoms

People who have latex allergies typically experience reactions about 48 hours after they’ve been exposed to the substance, although some people can experience their symptoms up to 96 hours later. Common symptoms of a latex condom allergy in men include:

  • Rings of rashes near the base of the penis
  • A swollen, red penis tip
  • Itchy, raised blisters on the penis
  • Swollen lips or tongue, if the condom came into contact with the mouth

In extreme cases, people with latex allergies can develop sneezing fits, as well as stinging eyes and a runny nose. These symptoms can appear almost immediately, as soon as the latex touches the skin, and they can progress to a life-threatening state. Highly sensitive people can find it difficult to breathe, and they might lose consciousness. People who develop breathing problems should go to a hospital right away. Medications can be used to halt the attack, and soothing therapies can keep inflamed and sore skin from getting worse.

Finding the Cause

Latex is the likely culprit when people at risk develop sensitivity after using condoms. But some people react to the lubricants in condoms, not the latex, and other people have rashes that seem like allergic reactions that are really symptoms of another problem, such as genital herpes. A doctor can run in-office tests to determine exactly what is causing symptoms a man might have.

If a latex allergy is to blame, there are alternate materials that could provide an effective barrier without triggering a reaction. Polyurethane condoms contain no latex at all, and some users report that they conduct heat a little better and provide a more pleasurable experience. Polyisoprene condoms, which are made of a synthetic form of latex which has the allergenic components removed, is suitable for people with mild or moderate latex allergies, and they could be a good choice for some.

Healing Up

A latex allergy can leave the skin of the penis feeling dry, itchy and inflamed. A good penis health crème (health experts recommend Man 1 Man Oil) can help to soften this skin and allow it to heal. Avoiding sexual contact until the penis has completely healed might be another excellent step to take, just to ensure that newly formed skin isn’t abraded and healing steps aren’t lost in the process.

Understanding The Benefits of Vitamin B Complex

Vitamin B complex is a group of vitamins that includes thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, B-6, folate, B-12, pantothenic acid, biotin and choline. Some of the benefits of vitamin B complex supplements include increased energy, improved or more stable moods, healthier skin, hair and eyes. The vitamins are important for proper nervous system and immune system function.

Actually, adequate amounts of the vitamin B complex group are needed on a daily basis to insure the proper function of many systems of the human body. Niacin (found in the vitamin B complex group) is found in every cell of the human body. Inadequate amounts of niacin in the diet can result in dermatitis (dry, itchy, inflamed skin), muscle soreness, cramping, exhaustion, insomnia, indigestion, mental problems, sores in the mouth and loss of appetite.

Another very important part of the vitamin B complex group is folate, known until recently as folic acid. Healthy men and women over the age of 13 need at least 400 mg per day. Women who are pregnant or nursing need more to support the growth needs of infants. Deficiencies can result in a variety of learning disabilities and growth problems.

No upper limits have been established for the vitamin B complex group. No toxic affects have been noted, except after intravenous injections of pharmaceutical quantities. When taken orally, the body uses what it needs and excretes anything that is left over.

The benefits of vitamin B complex to the elderly include improved memory and mood. No matter what their age, most people notice an improvement in memory and ability to concentrate, as well as a decrease in depressed feelings and irritability.

Vitamin B complex is used by the body to convert carbohydrates into glucose, which is then converted by the cells into energy, commonly referred to as metabolism. The symptoms of vitamin B complex deficiency are similar to symptoms of low blood sugar levels. Increased irritability is one of the first symptoms. Those with sluggish metabolisms or problems controlling their weight often benefit from vitamin B complex supplements.

Most people who start taking a vitamin B complex supplement notice an increase in energy immediately. If you suffer from dry skin or hair, it may take a few weeks to notice a difference, but you will see an improvement.

It is nearly impossible to get adequate amounts of the vitamin B complex from a typical daily diet. In addition, certain things increase an individual’s daily vitamin B complex requirements. Drinking coffee or alcohol increases the need for the B vitamins. Taking birth control pills, sulfa drugs and sleeping medications increase the need for the vitamin B complex group. It is interesting to note that a lack of vitamin B complex in the diet can lead to insomnia, which could lead someone to ask for a sleep aid, which increases the need for the vitamins. Before you reach for a sleeping pill, you may want to look at your diet and whether or not you are getting adequate amounts of the vitamin B complex group.

Depression Quotes – Jean Paul Sartre – How to Overcome Depression – The Path to Success

“There is no such thing as a self-made man. You will reach your goals only with the help of others.” George Shinn – Millionaire

“We only become what we are by the radical and deep-seated refusal of that which others have made of us.” Jean-Paul Sartre – Philosopher

As you can see, the depression quotes above may be considered a little paradoxical at first glance, however they are not.

If on one side, George Shinn, a famous millionaire believes we can’t get anywhere without a helping hand, Sartre says that fundamentally, if we don’t refuse other’s influence upon our own choices, we will never become truly released, as we will always be trying to fulfill the goals set by others, and will therefore walk through life bent by another person’s expectations.

You may share a similar experience with your life. Parents tend to try to influence their children career choices. If you had picked something that you had absolutely no interest in as a living, would have you been able to cope with a life lived doing something you hate? You would probably have fallen into depression, if that was the case. On another note, it’s quite normal that we as children do everything in our power to not disappoint our parents.

It’s therefore critical in Sartre’s opinion to be capable of standing on your own when it comes to picking your own path to happiness and disregard the noise around you. If you know something is right for you, don’t be afraid to go for it.

Acknowledging this, it’s very hard to get anywhere without a helping hand all the way to the end of our road. At times we’ll inevitably have to take detours to gather momentum. As such, it is important to never lose sight of our goals, even if we can’t always walk a straight line.

These depression quotes relate closely to the patient of depression, hiding himself away from the world, and still convinced that everyone is out to hurt him. He ordinarily lives in denial and thinks he can beat depression all by himself. Although no one else may walk the path for him, the choice and decision to start walking must be his. How to overcome depression on your own or without medication then? If you’re trying to, please don’t be afraid of taking a helping hand along the way. Don’t even be afraid of asking for one. While we understand you may have been hurt in the past, understand also that there are folks out there who know how to overcome depression dedicate their lives to helping others, and will be able to help you without judging you or asking for anything in return.

The Heartache of Loving a Commitment Phobic

As a psychologist, I get referrals to help people with all kinds of phobias. I have, however, never, in all my years of practice, ever received a referral for anyone suffering a ‘commitment phobia’ yet this problem seems to have reached epidemic proportions and is causing untold heartache for so many people.

Sharon and John have been together for six years. Sharon wants to get married, John doesn’t. Every time Sharon brings up the issue John accuses Sharon of nagging. He refuses to talk about the issue, except to rationalize his stance and to tell Sharon that she is being too ‘needy’ and demanding.

Sharon feels confused and frustrated by the mixed messages she gets from John. On the one hand, John is always telling Sharon how much he loves her. He assures her that they will always be together and he tells her how utterly devastated he would be if they ever split up. On the other hand, John refuses to take their relationship one step further. Likewise, John seems to prioritise his time at work and his time at social activities over his time with Sharon. She seems to constantly come in at third on John’s priorities and if she didn’t arrange her timetable to fit in with John’s timetable, they probably wouldn’t spend much time together at all.

Have you got friends in this predicament? Have you been there yourself or are you possibly in a relationship at this moment with a ‘commitment phobic’? If you are, you know the heartache it brings. The relationship is everything you ever wanted or dreamed of. You can’t imagine life without this person. Your partner is loving and emotionally open with you but just when the two of you feel the closest to each other – or when you begin to talk about living together, or getting married – your partner finds a way to create distance between the two of you and you feel the pain and heartache all over again.

Commitment Phobia: a Modern Day Hazard

You read about ‘commitment phobia’ in the agony aunt columns of newspapers and magazines all the time. Wherever you go, you are bound to hear at least one conversation about someone who is afraid of commitment. You probably have at least one friend who laments about being in a relationship with a ‘commitment phobic’ and who tells you that they have tried everything to try to change their partner’s mind and oh, what should they do?

We seem to be living in a time where so many people fall in love, only to find themselves frustrated, angry and heartbroken as they realize they are in a relationship with a ‘commitment phobic’.

Commitment Phobia is not a Gender Issue

The popular stereotype that you are fed to believe, is that men have a corner in the ‘commitment phobia’ market. It’s all part of the idea that men and women are from different planets and so suffer different afflictions – women want commitment and men don’t. That is certainly not my experience. In my clinical practice, in couples I coach, in my conversations with friends and people I know it is clear that women also suffer from ‘commitment phobia’. And men are equally devastated when they end up with a partner who won’t commit.

One of the men I got to know, in the gym I used to belong to, came up to me one day asking if we could speak when I was finished with my workout. We had chatted a few times before and he knew that I worked as a psychologist and coach and wanted to pick my brain about something he was struggling with.

We met up for a coffee after our workout and he proceeded to tell me about this absolutely amazing women he had met about four months earlier (how can that be a problem I thought?). He described this fantastic relationship they had, how they ‘connected’ and how he believed he had finally found his ‘soulmate’. The only problem was that as soon as he showed any signs of taking the relationship further, she seemed to distance herself (now I got it!). Gregg, out of his fear of losing this woman was getting more desperate to figure out how to change her mind. He shared with me all the things he had tried to do and say to convince her to take the relationship further. He felt he was losing control and said that he felt like he was going crazy – what should he do?

The Mixed Messages: Come closer, go away

What distinguishes a ‘commitment phobic’ is their extreme craving for love and intimacy and their extreme fear of it. While most people struggle at times between wanting to be close and their fear of closeness, the ‘commitment phobic’ has an intense, extreme desire for closeness and their intense, extreme fear of it. They constantly give out mixed messages: “Come closer . . . go away.”

The two messages you get from a ‘commitment phobic’ are “I really want and need all this closeness, but don’t tie me down. I love you deeply but I need to be close with other people too. I want and need you to love me, but let go of me. I desperately want and need to be with you, and I desperately want and need my space. They get on the ‘push-pull’ dance floor and you end up feeling confused, angry, frustrated and you wonder if you are going crazy.

Watch Out – Don’t Get Into One To Begin With!

If you know you want to be in a committed relationship, you are in for a disaster if you end up in a relationship with a commitment phobic. In my forthcoming book, you will understand the devastating emotional impact of being in a relationship with someone who does the ‘push-pull’ dance with you.

If you want to be in a committed relationship the best advice is not to get into a relationship with a ‘commitment phobic’ to begin with. Prevention is always better than cure! There are two simple but important steps you must take to avoid getting into the painful situation of being with a commitment phobic.

The first step is to get really, very clear about what kind of person you want to be with and to get absolute clarity about the kind of relationship you want and be sure you know what your priorities are.

The second step is to know and be able to identify the signs of a commitment phobic from the start – before you fall into the painful situation of realising, too late, that you are with one.

In my forthcoming book, I will share with you how to get real clarity about the kind of relationship you want and how to know what kind of person you really want to be with. You will learn how to identify the distancing clues of a ‘commitment phobic’ and how to avoid one and I will also share with you the difference between real intimacy and pseudo-intimacy.

It’s Too Late… What Do I Do Now?

Love is blind. When we first meet that special someone we tend to deny and not see what we don’t want to see, or we hope that those undesirable traits, we do see, will somehow, magically disappear over time. And it’s easy to fall for a ‘commitment phobic. They tend to be open, loving and comfortable with self-disclosure. They seem to be good at intimacy. They crave deep connection, they want to love and be loved.

What do you do however, when you realize – too late – that you are together with someone who is a ‘commitment phobic’? Let me share with you what you absolutely must never do:

Never, ever try to change the ‘commitment phobic’! It just won’t work.

Once you read my forthcoming book, you will understand the top three strategies the ‘commitment phobic’ uses when you try to convince or change them. You will also understand that in your effort to change them, you end up pushing them further into their ‘phobia.’

Do you want to keep putting your plans and dreams on hold in order to accommodate your partner’s phobia of commitment? Do you want to have to keep avoiding bringing up the subject, for fear that your partner will leave you? Do you want to be in a relationship that leaves you feeling angry, frustrated and powerless?

At the end of the day, you only have two choices: to stay or to go. Either choice will be painful. It’s a question, however, of short term pain versus long term pain.

The decision is yours – only you can make it.

Suffering From Alternating Bouts of Anxiety and Depression?

Most people who suffer from anxiety will also suffer from alternating bouts of anxiety and depression. This may also lead to feelings of worthlessness or self-pity Depression usually occurs because feelings of anxiety will wear us down and wreck our emotions. We also seem to think that we have nothing to look forward to and that there is no way out. I once went through the terrible cycle of alternating bouts of anxiety and depression, I thought it would never end and felt as if there was no way out.

Luckily I came to understand that, if I was ever to recover from this seemingly endless cycle of alternating bouts of anxiety and depression, if I felt depressed than I felt depressed. I had to realize that I could not have these feelings of self pity if I were ever to recover. The best way I have found to relieve the depression part of the cycle is to just keep telling yourself that the way you feel is only temporary and it will go away soon. Try some new things into your day and don’t let your feelings dominate you entire day. I began to learn to ski and started swimming again at the community pool to help me get out of my moodiness. This proved to be extremely beneficial and helped me to focus on something else besides my self-pity. Going outside, being a part of nature, having a natural diet, can all help relieve the effects of feeling down in the dumps. Start getting active; go outside for a walk, a swim, a jog, any daily exercise is better than sitting home feeling sorry for yourself. Exercise has been proven to cause the body to release mood lifting endorphins and will also burn off all the stress that can build up during the day. What better way to stop the alternating bouts of anxiety and depression.

The way you think is probably the most important weapon in your arsenal to stop the alternating bouts of anxiety and depression. Most people think negatively and this is understandable when they feel as they do, but it is counterproductive. If you develop the habit of negative thinking it will only make you feel worse and make it very difficult to recover. Beware of all the negative thinking, don’t say “I just want to disappear”, say instead, “I feel lousy now, but I will make the changes and come through this”. Instead of saying, “I have no future and I hate myself” say instead, “life is what I make it, and I will do what I need to and get through this”. There are lots of things that you can say to yourself; most important is to see the good things instead of the bad. Do not wallow in self-pity, in time you will start to slowly come around and become stronger and more self-reliant.

It was hard but I came through the seemingly unending cycle of alternating bouts of anxiety and depression and so can you. I think that I came through it as a better person than I was, I seem to be more self confident and positive and tend to see more good that negative in my life. You must remember; you are not alone, tens of millions of North Americans suffer from alternating bouts of anxiety and depression. They have found and so can you. Help is available for you right in the comfort of your own home. There are programs available on the Internet to help you get started and keep you motivated. If you have learned anything today, let it be that self-pity is probably the most useless and damaging thing you can do to yourself if you suffer from alternating bouts of anxiety and depression.

Christian Meditation – God’s Gift For Healthy Sleep

Sleep. Safe, peaceful, nourishing. Restoring, healing mind and body.

Insomnia. Restless mind, restless body, burning eyes and longing-for peace, for comfort, for rest.

The Psalmist certainly knew what it was like to have trouble with sleep. His words hit home, because we all know how it feels.

I am weary with my sighing. Every night I make my bed swim…my eye has become wasted with grief. Ps 6:7-8 In the night my hand was stretched out without weariness; my soul refused to be comforted…You have held my eyelids open… Ps 77:2;4

Sleeplessness hurts our body as well as our mind, causing problems from diabetes to heart disease, creating accidents and poor work performance, and leaving us snappy, irritable and moody.

We all want restful sleep, a healthy body and joyful energy. The question for many is-HOW? Most of us experience insomnia occasionally, but for many, lack of sleep has become a painful way of life.

You’ve probably read the tips: Exercise more, drink less alcohol, use white noise, take a hot bath, sleep in a cool room, drink warm milk (OK, I know that really does help, but I’d rather just stay up!)

All these things are certainly true. And if you are not already doing them-why not?

You won’t sleep well if you don’t exercise regularly-you can count on that. Alcohol will make you sleepy, but it will also shatter your sleep structure, causing you to wake again and again, between bouts of superficial, poor quality sleep. Warm baths, the hum of a fan in a cool dark room…all are good ideas, important for good quality sleep.

But what if you’ve done all these, and still have problems sleeping?

David knew what brought him healthy sleep, and he spends much of his time in joy and rejoicing. What’s different for David when he sleeps?

Thou hast put gladness in my heart…in peace I will both lie down and sleep, for Thou alone, O Lord, dost make me to dwell in safety. Ps 5:7-8 I lay down and slept, I awoke, for the Lord sustains me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me. Ps 4:5-6

Sleep comes when we know we’re safe and secure. And that assurance comes with trust in the Lord. With the comfort of knowing you’re safely held in His hands.

You will have worries-and while it’s true that most of the things you worry about won’t ever happen, you know some may! Your worries grow from real concerns, and reflect the love you have for others, the hopes you have for the future. You may be struggling with heartbreak and loss, and very real problems to face in the morning.

But your worry won’t help, no matter how real the concern. And in your heart you know that…and so the fears and worries begin again.

At times it really seems ten thousands have set themselves against us! You want to give your fears and worries, your ‘head chatter’, to Him, but how? How can you have the peace and restful sleep that comes from trusting in Him, knowing you are safely held no matter what?

Meditate in your heart upon your bed and be still. Ps 4:4 I will remember my song in the night; I will meditate with my heart… Ps 77:6

In meditation, God speaks to our hearts, to our minds and our bodies. He gives us peace at the deepest level…and we can relax, and sleep in the safety of His peace. In meditation, He fills our hearts with the warmth of His love. He washes our bodies with soothing biochemical cascades, giving us everything we need to sleep deeply and richly.

And the more we meditate, the better we sleep!

So when you’re struggling in the night, remember David’s words, and let God’s peaceful gift of meditation fill your soul with comfort, and your body with rest.

Seven Important Facts About Bunions

A bunion is a common foot deformity that many Americans have to deal with during their lifetime. Currently, podiatrists are the leading health care professionals for caring for this deformity. Bunions are a very unique foot problem with a specific population and appearance which you will see from the seven facts below. 1) Bunion Definition – A bunion is a bony enlargement of the bone and surrounding soft tissue of the base of the big toe. This makes your foot look like you have a bump on the inside of the base of your big toe and also causes the tip of your big toe to angle toward the second toe.

2) Who gets Bunions – Bunions are more common in women. Bunions are also more common in western countries, with as much as 30% of the population of people of western countries having bunions. Interestingly, studies have shown that people from countries where shoes are not commonly worn by most citizens have a lower incidence of bunions then western countries, suggesting that bunions may be due to the shoes people wear. Bunions are also more common in older people, with a greater incidence of bunions with age.

3) Bunion Genetics – Many studies have shown that there seems to be a genetic link for acquiring bunions. This means that if someone in your immediate family has a bunion you have an increased chance of getting a bunion then the general population.

4) Bunion Symptoms – There are many symptoms that may lead people to think they have a bunion but the most common symptoms are as follows: A bony protuberance on the base of the big toe, red callused skin over the protuberance on the inside of the big toe, pain over the joint with the protuberance that worsens with pressure, and the tip of the big toe pointing toward the second toe.

5) Shoes leading to Bunions – It has been shown that narrow shoes, cowboy boats or high heel shoes can lead to bunions. This may explain why bunions are more common in women and also why they are more common in western countries where high heel shoes are more commonly worn.

6) Diagnosing a Bunion – If you think that you have a bunion and present with the symptoms above that indicate a bunion then go to a local podiatrist to have a bunion diagnosed for sure. A podiatrist will have a good idea if you have a bunion just by sight but they will also x-ray the area to confirm the presence of a bunion.

7) Bunion Surgery – If a bunion is so painful or so enlarged that it interferes with your quality of life then a treatment option is to get a bunionectomy. A bunionectomy is a surgical procedure commonly performed by a podiatrist that helps to straighten out the big toe. As with all problems, the sooner you catch it the easier it is to treat. Don’t simply assume that surgery is required for a bunion. Bunions in very early stages can be controlled with non-surgical means that may even prevent the need for surgery in the future! The best thing you can do is visit with your podiatrist to see what the best options are.

3 Natural Ways To Get Rid Of Head Lice

Lice can be an irritating experience. All of a sudden, you find your prized hair possessed by creepy crawlers whose only purpose seems to be to breed and lay eggs and make your life a general misery. Your scalp itches, and you feel awful. On some days you even contemplate going bald.

Only those who have a louse problem can fully appreciate how irritating it can get. If you suffer from lice, you probably know more than you’d like to about them anyway. But there are a few things to understand about lice if you would like to control them effectively. First and foremost is this – lice have nothing to do with your cleanliness habits. As a matter of fact, lice often prefer clean, soft hair to nest and lay eggs in.

The second is that lice are contagious, and it can be transferred to you by sharing hair care products, a pillowcase, or even a bus seat cover with someone who has lice. You can also have it transferred to your head from another if your head touches someone’s who has lice-usually the preferred way for those pesky lice that found a way to your child’s head at school.

So how do you get rid of lice? It is important to remember that lice are hardy creatures that are not easy to kill. There are, of course, many over the counter poisons and pesticides that are billed to “rid you of lice forever and a day.” Do they work? Yes. However, many of these products can be bad for your scalp or hair, and people have even reported severe hair loss after using them. The worst part is that the lice on your head may be resistant to the poison you use, so that in effect you are doing nothing to them but giving them a warm bath.

Enter natural, pesticide-free cures. They are obviously a great choice for a few reasons:

· They are good for the environment: These poison-free lice cures come from trees rather than from precious derived chemicals. This might also mean that they are cheaper too.

· Lice don’t get resistant to them: unlike pesticides, lice can’t grow a resistance to natural methods of delousing.

· They don’t harm your scalp and can even be good for your hair: Cures like natural oil extracts will not only get you rid of your lice, they will give your hair a healthy glow and bounce – far less than the sapping destructive e effect some over the counter delousing solutions can have.

So what are these magic natural cures for lice? The following lists three of the basic ingredients that you can mostly find at home and how to use them to get rid of lice effectively:

1. Mayonnaise: Mayonnaise is an unlikely contender, but it works like a charm for killing lice. Here is how to use it – cover your scalp completely with a few handfuls of mayonnaise, right up to the very edges of your hairline. Put a shower cap on top of this, and keep if on for 2 hours. If you are feeling particularly merciless, you can keep in on the entire night. The lice in your hair will be deprived of oxygen, and will die out. Rinse out afterwards, and wash your hair with a mild baby shampoo.

Vaseline works in the same way as mayonnaise, and may be used in the same way. But it is important to remember that Vaseline can be quite difficult to wash out.

2. Olive oil or coconut oil: These are truly ingenious cures. They dissolve the exoskeletons of the lice, and thus kill them effectively. You can mix coconut or olive oil with a bunch of essential oils, and use it to get rid of lice on your head or your children’s. Do remember to keep it on for two hours or more.

3. Good old combing: Combing has been shown to be the most effective natural way of getting rid of lice. But it can be a difficult process. It’s quite simple: add a conditioner to your hair, and comb your hair strand by strand to pull out all the lice and the nits (those pesky eggs). This works well as it gets rid of the eggs too. You can try using some vinegar to make the eggs a little less sticky.

Lice can be really annoying, but it is important to realize that this is a completely curable pestilence.

Top 7 Tips To Relieve Wrist Pain

You may not realize just how important your wrists are until one of them gets hurt. There are basically two types of wrist injury. One is acute, such as a sprain or a fracture. The other is overuse, caused by the repetitive motion of activities such as typing. The overuse injury that most often affects the wrists is tendinitis. People who use their hands a lot such as carpenters, computer operators, musicians can develop tendinitis if the tendons in their wrists are not strong and flexible enough. Overuse can also affect the ulnar nerve, which runs along pinkie side of the wrist and hand. And it can cause tissues in the wrist to swell and put pressure on the median nerve, leading to carpel tunnel syndrome. Both conditions can produce tingling, numbness, and pain in the fingers and hands as well as in the wrists. Here are some tips that you can consider to adopt to relieve wrist pain.

1. Build Some Muscles

You can prevent future wrist pain by strengthening the muscles in your forearms. It is recommended holding a 6-ounce can of tomato paste in each hand and flexing your wrists back and forth 15 to 20 times. Or you can simply squeeze a tennis ball in each hand. Squeeze the ball for 5 seconds and release, then repeat 12 to 15 times.

2. Ease Back Into It

A wrist that has been immobilized may become stiff from lack of use. Some gentle stretching can help restore flexibility. It is recommended pressing on a tabletop with the palm of your hand. Bend your wrist until you reach the angle of pain, then back off just a hair. By riding the edge of discomfort and stopping just before you feel pain, you are doing beneficial stretching. Hold this position or as long as you find comfortable, working up to 2 minutes. Repeat three to four times daily.

3. Treat It Gingerly

A compress made from ginger can draw out toxins and accelerate the healing process. To make the compress, simply boil some grated gingerroot, allow it to cool, place it in a moist washcloth, and lay the washcloth over your wrist. The washcloth should be as hot as you can tolerate. Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes, and repeat every other hour.

4. Keep Still

For a more severe case of tendinitis, immobilizing the joint with an elastic wrist support may provide some relief. You will find these devices in drugstores and medical supply stores. It is recommended wearing one while you sleep, to prevent your wrist from twisting awkwardly as well as during your waking hours, when your wrist is in use. The support should keep your wrist in about 10-degree dorsiflex position. In other words, if your palm is facing downward, your wrist should be bent slightly upward.

5. Put It On The Rocks

Ice is a vasoconstrictor. That means it decreases the blood supply in your wrist, which helps reduce any swelling. It is recommended putting ice cubes in a plastic bag, wrapping the bag in a towel, and applying the pack to your wrist for about 20 minutes. Repeat the treatment four to six times a day.

6. Raise Your Hand

Elevation is not as crucial for an injured wrist as for an injured ankle or knee. Still, it can help keep any swelling down. Just be sure to prop your wrist so that it is above heart level.

7. Turn On The Heat

Once any swelling subsides, or if your wrist simply feels stiff and achy, heat can help. It is recommended to follow these instructions. Rub vinegar on your wrist, cover it with plastic, then apply a heating pad wrapped in a towel for about 20 minutes. You can repeat this treatment every hour as needed.

"Bedroom Boldness" – How To Enjoy Sex With Your Love Or Marriage Partner

Many women have found themselves in a climax-less relationship and feel much unfulfilled as a result. Most often men are oblivious of this fact. Some of these women feel it will bruise their husband’s ego if they tell them that they never enjoy sex with them. So they just pretend. When asked by their husbands after a relationship if they had enjoyed it; they would reply, ‘oh honey it was wonderful. A lot of women fake up orgasm. They do so because they don’t want to hurt the man’s feelings especially if the man had put up some effort and courage to satisfy his wife. Such men will get discouraged and feel that the woman is insatiable or she is a whore if he finds it difficult to give the woman orgasm. This would put the marriage in jeopardy. But it is very easy to give your love partner that exceptional orgasm – you just need to know how to do it. Most men lack the information and knowledge on how to go about it. Try to know more about love, sex and marriage.

DRAW THE MAN’S ATTENTION. The women have their roles to play. They should draw the man’s attention and make him to know the reality. Much creativity and love is needed to achieve this. The women could engage the man in erotic or salacious conversations. Such topics like oral sex- cunnilingus and fellatio could be interesting.

The surge for the desire for sex runs through the man’s veins and nerves like thunder. Like a charged bull he is ready to conquer. But the real truth is that physical strength alone is not enough to conquer a woman’s passion and emotion. It equally requires information, wisdom, knowledge and love. Most men rush in and rush out like a flash of light. Like the common saying, ‘garbage in and garbage out’. The man has enjoyed himself. He is satisfied. What about the woman? Is she sexually satisfied? Not a little. The worst of all is that most men are completely ignorant of this fact.

At this point the couple should engage themselves in foreplay and oral sex if they have not been doing so. The woman should try to involve his lover in a ‘mind-blowing’ fellatio or blow-job while the man on the other hand should perform cunnilingus on the woman. This will keep the man from ejaculating so soon.

Mastering the art of foreplay locating the erogenous spots will help the couple to accumulate stimulation and emotional impulse gradually until they reach the peak. It shouldn’t be a hasty affair. They longer they stay together the better. What you build in haste could be destroyed easily. And what you take time to build could last long.

This is the only way for couple to experience extended massive orgasm (EMO). Ignorance, selfishness and cheating would have been completely eliminated from the relationship. Intimacy would have been deepened while couple becomes nicer and generous.

Why is it that about 90% of men do not experience real orgasm but mere ejaculation? It is because they don’t satisfy their wives. What you give is what you receive. The level you give is the same level you receive.

What causes a man to womanize? It is lack of sexual satisfaction. And what causes a woman to cheat? The answer is the same – lack of sexual satisfaction. Some couples are betrayed by haste, ignorance, selfishness and greed. Instead of seeking for information and knowledge on how to satisfy one another sexually they go outside looking for satisfaction elsewhere. That is vanity. Such people never get satisfied because the same characters and factors that prevented them from having satisfaction at home follow them wherever they go. They should get more information about love, sex and marriage.

A man jumps from one woman to another, then to another etc. Why the “women wandering”? He has not got what he is looking for – sexual satisfaction. He may never get that satisfaction until he looks inward. He will only give it in order to receive it. Stop wandering. Satisfy your partner in order get satisfaction sexually. “Drink water from your own cistern”, so says the book of proverb in the Bible. There is portable and living water in your well. Why looking for water elsewhere when you have it in abundance?

Your wife is a ‘million women in one’ – explore her sexually trying different styles and positions. There is no need to be looking for women outside when you have a million in one yet to be explored.

To the ladies: Discover the only known formula that a woman can use to satisfy her husband and stop or prevent him from womanizing.

To the men: Not being able to take your partner to orgasm could be upsetting for both of you. She suffers frustration, emotional trauma and deprivation, and you feel you’ve let her down. But giving her an exceptional orgasm is actually very easy – find out how.

What Causes Ovarian Cysts to Rupture and How to Easily Spot the Usual Burst Ovarian Cyst Symptoms

Any women between 17 and 70 can develop ovarian cysts. Usually, cysts come and go with the menstrual cycles, and most of the times they disappear untreated, and undetected. However, there are some women who have cysts on the ovary that stay, and become a health problem. Find out more what causes ovarian cysts to rupture and how to easily spot the usual burst ovarian cyst symptoms

One complication arises when something causes cysts on and in the ovary to rupture. Most of the time they rupture because there is too much pressure on the lower abdomen, or because the ovary tissue has become so thin, so when the cyst grows larger, it causes the ovary to burst. When talking about pressure, it means that sudden movements, sport activities, sex and also a very bad constipation may be responsible for a burst cyst.

Hence, how can you easily spot the usual ovarian cyst symptoms? One common symptom is bleeding, after and in between your cycles that goes along with pain similar to menstrual cramps but much more intense.

When the ovary spills its content into the abdominal cavity, you may feel nauseous, have dizzy spells, the urge to vomit, develop a fever, and be in excruciating pain. Your body tries to get rid of the foreign mass, and fights it that way. If this is the case, it is high time to see an emergency specialist because your life might be at stake. Often surgery is the means of choice here to clean the cavity from excess blood, pus and the cyst content.

Another burst ovarian cyst symptom is severe pain during intercourse that you feel especially in the pelvic area.

Unexplained pain which is felt in the pelvic area, and around the thighs can be a sign as well. You may also complain about backache, and a persistent pain before, during and after your menses.

If you experience problems with your bladder, this may be also due to a burst cyst. You might feel the urge to have to urinate more frequently without having the sensation that you’ve fully emptied your bladder. This occurs when there is pressure on your bladder.

How to treat a burst cyst in the ovary depends on your individual case, and how severe the problems are. In order to avoid further complications, be alert to any body changes that you become aware of, and seek professional treatment as soon as you can. In the long run, conventional treatments often fail to remove ovarian cysts for good. You may rather think of a holistic approach as your ultimate treatment option that helps to cure burst ovarian cyst symptoms.

Considering a holistic approach is an effective short cut to address the root cause underlying this disorder. Hence, since traditional treatment methods only address the surface symptoms, a holistic, completely natural, approach moves beyond burst ovarian cyst symptoms treating the whole persons, and even prevents cysts from reoccurring in the future.

Cure Male Yeast Infection Quickly With These Natural Home Remedies

Male yeast infections often respond to home remedies and natural therapies.

Because this type of bacteria overabundance can not survive in less than optimal environments, all male candida infection home remedy treatments and natural cures focus on creating an environment that will make the yeast bacteria unwelcome, removing the factors which allow the yeast to flourish.

The male candida infection home remedies and natural treatments are the same ones used by women to treat vaginal yeast infections at home. Just because the bacteria are present as a penile infection does not mean that the treatment must be different.

It simply means that the yeast has become present in the male genitals.

One effective male candida infection home remedy is consuming yogurt with active cultures. The active cultures in yogurt provide the human body with good bacteria which allows the male body to re-establish the health balance of bacteria normally present.

If yogurt is distasteful for you, the same results can be obtained by consuming dietary supplements which contain these cultures. Acidophilus is one such dietary supplement which can be purchased in capsules and other forms which have little or no taste.

Boric acid provides another natural home remedy for male yeast infection. Simply add about 2 tablespoons of boric acid to a shallow bath of water. Sit in the water for 15 minutes daily for seven days. This is a very inexpensive treatment.

Do not use the boric acid bath for bathing the entire body. Use only as a sitz bath for soaking the lower body. Rinse well after soaking with clear water.

Tea tree oil can be diluted and applied to affected areas daily. The best way to use this male yeast infection natural home remedy is to prepare a shallow bath of warm water and add several drops of tea tree oil.

Sit in the bath, soaking the lower body, including the genitals in the water for 15 to 20 minutes daily for several days or until symptoms are relieved.

Hydrogen peroxide can be used as a home treatment for male yeast infection. The normal 3% hydrogen peroxide which is probably already in your medicine cabinet can be used by mixing one teaspoon with one cup of water.

Use a clean white face cloth wet with this solution to wash the genital area, focusing on allowing the liquid to soak the penis and glan. Use a fresh mixture each time and apply two to three times daily for up to one week or until after all symptoms have disappeared.

Potassium sorbate is a fungicide used in preserving foods which can be used as a male yeast infection home remedy. It is also used in brewing beer to stop the yeast growth at the proper time in the brewing process.

You can find this product at your superstore or a specialty store which carries home brewing supplies. Mix one tablespoon of potassium sorbate with one cup of warm water. Wash genitals with a clean white cloth soaked with this mixture. Repeat two or three times daily for several days.

Male yeast infection home remedies and natural treatments are great for treating most cases. However, sometimes a yeast infection in a man can be quite stubborn.

If home remedies or natural treatments do not solve the problem, a man can use male yeast infection creams which contain non-prescription medications.

If these still do not solve the problem quickly, it is imperative that advice from a qualified health care professional be sought.

Mononucleosis and EPO – Is There a Connection?

With all this fuss about the use of EPO in cycling in recent years and how laboratorial inject able EPO was practically undetectable until very recently (2003), plus how the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) and other Anti-Doping labs worldwide are suspicious that athletes are freely using performance enhancing drugs namely EPO; some officials are starting to openly vent their frustrations with the shortcomings (underfunding) of the aforementioned agencies.

With recent reports of several athletes contracting mononucleosis, I became curious and I decided to make a search on the internet to see if there was a possibility of a connection between EPO and mononucleosis and I found this startling report (excerpt below).

Author: Paul Schick, MD, Emeritus Professor, Department of Internal Medicine, Thomas Jefferson University Medical College; Research Professor, Department of Internal Medicine, Drexel University College of Medicine:

“Pure Red Cell Aplasia

  • Respiratory infections, gastroenteritis, primary atypical pneumonia, infectious mononucleosis, mumps, and viral hepatitis may trigger pure red cell aplasia.
  • Importantly, note that EPO-related appears to be a rare complication when one considers that approximately 3 million patients are treated with EPO worldwide. Nevertheless, maintain awareness of the possibility of this complication. In 2002, Casadevall et al recommended that patients receiving EPO should be tested for neutralizing anti-EPO antibodies as soon as possible after the onset of an unexplained anemia.
  • Darbepoetin alfa (Aranesp) has recently been introduced and has a different carbohydrate structure than endogenous EPO. Patients receiving this agent should be monitored closely.
  • Obviously, the administration of EPO for athletic performance should be avoided. ” http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic1967.htm

“- Medical side effects

EPO commonly “thickens” blood which causes additional circulatory strain as well as damming (clotting) in smaller blood vessels. EPO use is dangerous as it stresses elements in the circulation and quite often is sufficient to precipitate systemic failures that otherwise would function normally under natural levels of stress.”

http://coachsci.sdsu.edu/csa/vol56/fourdrug.htm

“What are the side-effects of EPO misuse?

· While proper use of EPO has an enormous therapeutic benefit in the treatment of anaemia related to cancer or kidney disease, its misuse can lead to serious health risks for athletes who use this substance simply to gain a competitive edge. It is well known that EPO, by thickening the blood, leads to an increased risk of several deadly diseases, such as heart disease, stroke, and cerebral or pulmonary embolism. The misuse of recombinant human EPO may also lead to autoimmune diseases with serious health consequences.”

Does this mean, if you have mononucleosis that you have used EPO? No, it could be viral, but if you are an athlete, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) and other Anti-Doping labs worldwide will have their red flags waving for months!

With this information, I became concerned, because if there are any tennis players out there, champions, champions to be or not champions, before they even think about using EPO, they should be aware of the consequences.

Why risk your life for a medal, a cup or a few dollars more? Players and athletes, just say NO and stay away from EPO! Your health and your life is more important to all of us then if you win.

Yours truly

Sergio Cruz
