Getting rid of tonsil stones naturally, effectively and quickly is not an easy task, unless you know exactly how do to it. In this article, we are going to go over some of the greatest and natural ways to go about removing tonsil calculi quickly, so that you will be able to get that fresh and fantastic breath back in no time at all! We are also going to describe exactly what a tonsillolith is so that you know if you have them or not.

Understanding What They Are

Believe it or not, a lot of people have tonsil stones and have gone about removing them without even knowing it. What a tonsil stone is, is basically just a pocket of bacteria that has been built up from food debris and calcium deposits. These little bumps can make your breath smell extremely bad and can overall hurt your throat and even your ears. This is why removing tonsil stones is so important.

Natural Treatments

So you understand exactly what a tonsillolith is, how do you go about removing the buggers? Well, that is exactly what we are going to talk about below.

* The first way to go about removing your stones naturally is to flex your throat a bit. While it might be difficult to do this when you have a sore throat, this is a great way to go about removing the stones quickly and easily. The reason why this way works is because it adds in pressure to the tonsillar crypts, which in turn forces the stones right out of your throat!

* The next way to go about removing the throat chunks is by drinking a lot of water. This actually keeps your mouth very soggy and reduces a lot of the bad odor that is caused by the calculi. Water can actually help prevent a lot of the bacteria build up in your throat as well.

* Another way that you can start removing tonsil stones is by controlling your diet and cutting out a lot of the junk food and soda that you are eating and drinking. The reason for this is because these things can actually help build up the bacteria, which in turn will cause more tonsil stones for you to remove! You can also cut down on your alcoholic beverages as well.

These are just three of the most popular ways to go about removing tonsil stones quickly and easily, there are also some ways that your doctor can go about removing them for you.

If natural treatments to start getting rid of stones are not working, your doctor will be able to start removing your stones by surgery. The surgery should be a last resort and it does involve a laser. The laser will run along the stones and blast them off of your throat and your tongue. It is quick and has very little discomfort, however you definitely want to try the natural ways to go about removing tonsil stones first.

Diabetes and Ayurveda Treatment (1)

What is ayurvedic treatment, is there an ayurvedic treatment for diabetes, how does the treatment work, what is the prognosis when using ayurvedic treatment. Why are more and more people adopting it as an alternative way of managing their diabetes? All these questions and more shall be answered in the following article.

Ayurveda is the world’s oldest surviving healing system. A form of alternative medicine and the traditional system of medicine of India, the word is a composite of the words “ayu” meaning life and “Veda” meaning knowledge. Thus roughly translated Ayurveda means “the science of life” and involves the care and treatment of human beings. To bring it home more succinctly, Ayurveda’s two cardinal aims are the complete elimination of disease and dysfunction of the body and secondly, the prolongation of life and promotion of perfect health.

In order to do this, Ayurveda considers the general life pattern of the individual, including his diet, behavior and health and profession. But before we go into all that, the question may be asked why anyone would want to go for this ancient system of medicine anyway. What is the attraction of such a system over the modern, generally more accepted scientific treatment of diabetes today? Well the reason is not far to seek.

First, diabetes as generally been regarded as a disease that cannot be cured, only managed. This management basically involves the subject keeping his fasting blood sugar level within a medically determine or advised range (between 70 and 100 milligrams per deciliter or mg/dL). Where he is able to do this, in most cases he will stop experiencing many of the symptoms of the disease and its associated complications.

To many people, this is not a cure in the true sense of the word because the individual will still be restricted to a high in fiber, low in carbohydrate, low in fat, non-smoking, none or limited alcohol intake diet as well as a continued regime of exercise and blood sugar control.

If we are to follow this reasoning, then it can be said that any “cure” which does not either rejuvenate the Beta cells (the insulin producing cells of the pancreas) as would be necessary in the case of a cure for Type 1 or help overcome the insulin resistance of the body as in the case of a cure for Type 2, cannot really be said to be one. While stem cell research- whether through the undifferentiated embryonic stem cells or (induced pluripotent) stem cells of today, brings us hope for a cure in the case of type 1, type 2 treatment still remains relatively a case of management.

Moreover, modern medical approach to treating or managing Type 2 diabetes takes dedication and discipline. In addition to that, medicine used may have side effects. For example the use of the drug metformin has been known to cause heart attacks. Again the use of insulin for the treatment of diabetes needs to be well regulated and timed so as not to inadvertently induce hypoglycemia or the obverse hyperglycemia.

Now if one is to be sincere in one’s analysis, we can equally say that the ayurvedic method for the treatment of diabetes is arguably also a management one. However, the ace it perhaps holds over the modern approach is that since it is both preventive and holistic in its medical approach to the treatment of the body, it does not hold the risk of complications associated with pharmaceutical treatments.

Further, it has been scientifically ascertained that while some herbs used in ayurvedic treatment actually stimulate Beta cell production others encourage the sensitivity of the body to insulin. This then arguably constitutes a most viable alternative treatment choice for diabetes.

In classic ayurveda, diabetes was given the name Prameha which means excessive urination. It was also known as Madhumeha which is interpreted as flow of sugar from the body. Again, it was equally called Maharoga (Major disease) as almost all parts of the body is affected by it. According to Ayurveda, prameha (diabetes) is divided into 4 major types (and total 21 types). Kapha type, itself divided into 10 types, Pitta type, divided into 6 types, Vata type, divided into 4 types and sahaja which corresponds to Type 1 diabetes.

The main causes of prameha (diabetes) is said to be lack of exercise and the eating of food containing too much ushna, snigha and guru nature. Although it is also recognized that Sahaja diabetes is hereditary and caused by defects in the genetics of the patients parents.

In Ayurveda, diabetes is classified in several ways; first into the two categories of the lean diabetic and the obese diabetic. The second classification is according to causes of diabetes- Sahaja prameha (congenital) and Apathyanimittaja prameha (due to over eating and poor habits) and finally classification according to Dosha. The first two are clear. What however is Dosha?

To understand what Dosha is and indeed how Ayurvedic treatment works, we first have to understand the philosophy or “science” behind the ayuveda treatment of diabetes.

First, Ayurveda stipulates that the entire physical structure and function of man is premised on the combination of any 2 of the 5 great elements (Bhuttas). This combination will predominate and as such will determine your nature. It is this nature that is known as Dosha. Going further these combinations are categorized into Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Vata is to do with movement, Kapha, the functions of metabolism, energy production and heat while Kapha concerns itself with physical structure and fluid balance.

The Ayurvedic view is that disease is caused by an imbalance in these qualities (Vikruiti). Treatment of Type 2 diabetes like all diseases in this system therefore requires a restoration of balance (Prakruti) by detoxifying the body of the causative toxins blocking circulation and causing the dosha imbalance and also the normal function of dhatu (tissue).

Ayurvedic treatment is remarkably modern in its approach to treating diabetes. For as a doctor may reflect on the risk factors in a patient when performing diagnoses and making recommendations, Ayurveda treatments equally consider family history (in other words genetic predispositions), sex, age, body constitution (body mass index consideration), stage of the disease, diet, etc. This means that treatment will be tailored to the specific needs of each individual and that more often than not, treatment, particularly dosage will differ from patient to patient even when they suffer from the same disease and symptoms.

The foundation step in a diagnoses which can last for up to an hour will therefore be to find a person’s (dosha), I.e Vatta, Pitta or Kapha. Once found, the imbalance in the dosha is elicited by asking several questions on his or her food habits, sleeping patterns, behavior, age, height and weight, place of life, profession, medical reports, health problems, etc.

By knowing the dosha, the health consultant will be able to assess dosha attributes of the patient that are out of balance and prescribe the changes required to rebalance them. In doing this, the health consultant will make use of pulse, tongue, nail and eye examinations. The health of several organs as well as the psychological state of the individual can be derived from this study and the observation and documentation of this will assist the Health consultant in treating the disease. Incidentally, it should be noted that Ayuverdic diagnosis does not preclude complimentary diagnosis via laboratory and clinical tests.

So then, once a diagnosis of diabetes has been made, how does the ayurvedic practitioner treat it? Remarkably again (the first two approach at least) bears similarity to western practice for diabetes treatment. Thus, first, if the doshas are only slightly imbalanced, then increased activity and restriction of diet is sufficient remedy.

The administration of medicine (herbs) will be called for where the doshas are moderately imbalanced. This will serve to neutralize the imbalanced dosha and along with dietary restriction and increased exercise will serve as sufficient remedy. Where the doshas are greatly imbalanced however, then in addition to diet restriction, exercise and medicines, then Panchakarma (five actions of detoxification) will have to be administered. However, Panchakarma is more appropriate for the stout or obese diabetic not the lean one who showing excessive vata dosha should focus more on medications and diet which will increase the dhatus (rebuilding or tonification of the body).

In summary therefore, it can be said that Ayurveda practice consists of four basic nodes, namely reduction (through exercise), detoxification, nourishing and tonification (through diet) and balancing (through all three). Several agents are used in calibrated amounts to achieve this. They are namely food, exercise, routine and herbs. We shall be looking at the role each of these play in our next article.

Penis Allergies: When Sex Leads to Red, Itchy Welts

As couples share an amazing physical experience together, they might want to jump right back into the action as soon as an episode is over. But when sex leads to an itchy, red penis, a man can feel far from happy, and he might not be willing to go back for another round until he heals up. He might even be tempted to place blame on his partner, and this can lead to ugly scenes and relationship problems.

Finding the source of penis allergies might require the help of a doctor, but proper penis care could help men to heal quickly and feel better so that they can get right back in the action.

Common Triggers

Men with an after-sex rash are quick to assume that they’re allergic to vaginal secretions. While an allergy like this is certainly possible, it’s also quite rare. In fact, in most cases, the root cause of the discomfort isn’t generated by the woman’s body at all. Instead, the things a woman puts on her body could be to blame.

Ladies might use any of these products to make their bodies soft and inviting:

  • Lotions
  • Creams
  • Perfumes
  • Personal lubricants
  • Powders
  • Perfumed soaps

During sex, a man might come in contact with these irritants, and the delicate skin of the penis might react with a rash. Doctors can run specific tests to nail down exactly what might be causing this kind of distress, but in the interim, couples can draft an allergen-free pact and ensure that neither party is using a product that could cause a rash to emerge. Products marked with the words “hypoallergenic,” “allergen free” or “perfume free” are good choices.

Birth Control Methods

Although latex condoms are the most common form of birth control and are necessary in avoiding STDs, many people are allergic to latex and may develop itchy, red, burning rashes when they’re exposed. These allergies are most common in people who work in the health care industry, as they’ve been exposed to the substance when they are at work, using latex gloves all day long; but anyone could develop an allergy to this particular irritant.

Spermicides that line condoms, as well as products that are sprayed directly on reproductive tissues, can also contain chemicals that can cause allergic reactions. Even dyes used to color these products could be problematic for some people, causing breakouts that are hard to ignore.

Since allergies like this are somewhat common, manufacturers have responded by creating products that contain no latex and no other irritating ingredients. These products might be slightly more expensive, and some alternate condom materials might be somewhat fragile and apt to break under vigorous use, but they might be good options to try in a rash-eliminating program.

How to Heal

As mentioned, a doctor is the best person both to diagnose and to treat a penis rash. Through a series of tests, doctors can pinpoint what types of substances tend to trigger outbreaks, and they can work with clients to design treatment options that can heal the damage now and prevent problems from springing up in the future.

While waiting for the appointment time to arrive, men can soothe irritated skin with a cool soak. Water can wash away any remaining allergens and help inflamed tissues to shrink back to their normal size. Wearing breathable fabrics like cotton might also be helpful, as the inflamed skin might need to breathe in order to heal. Applying any ointment or lotion isn’t advisable during an outbreak, as inflamed skin can be reactive and adding a new product could make finding the cause of the rash more difficult.

When the skin is calm, however, men might consider adding a penis health creme (most health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) to their treatment program. Products like this contain vitamins that can help skin to stay healthy and strong and heal more quickly after irritation or injury; while natural emollients and moisturizers can keep the penis skin smooth, supple and responsive to touch.

Dry Penis Solutions – 7 Reasons Why Men Need a Penis Health Creme

With some exceptions, men tend to be fairly casual about their personal care habits, generally sticking with the shower-shave-haircut routine, with a possible workout added. Asking most men to use a cream or lotion to care for their skin is likely to meet some raised eyebrows, at least from the tougher set. However, the penis should be an exception when it comes to using skin care products, because the penis is subject to some rough treatment, but it has much more delicate skin than more frequently exposed body parts. Seven of the reasons that a man needs a penis health creme as part of his daily penis care regimen are described here.

  1. Dry skin – Dry penis skin is a common problem that may be caused by harsh soaps, extremely hot or cold weather, spermicides, masturbation without the benefit of a lube, and a host of other issues. A dry penis can be itchy and uncomfortable; the skin may crack and peel, leading to an unattractive appearance and an increased likelihood of injury.
  2. Reduced sensitivity – At least 87% of men will experience some loss of penis sensation, and in some cases, this reduction in sensitivity can be enough to make sex more of a chore than a pleasure. Nutrient support for the penile skin and nerve tissue that is provided by a penis health formula can help to ensure healthy cell function, ensuring that stressed tissue can repair itself and prevent loss of penile sensation.
  3. Red penis skin– masturbation and sex can both cause the penis skin to become reddened, sore and uncomfortable. An after-intimacy shower, followed up with an application of a soothing moisturizer, can help to alleviate this uncomfortable side effect.
  4. Rash after sex or masturbation – both the friction of sex and exposure to latex, spermicides, lubes or a partner’s body fluids can cause a post-coital rash to erupt. Soothing irritated skin with a moisturizing vitamin formula is suggested after every encounter.
  5. Cuts on the penis – Men often complain of cuts, scratches or tears on the penis skin and/or foreskin. These are often caused by skin irritation or yeast infections, and they can be accompanied by swelling, redness, itching and discharge. A vitamin cream can help to keep yeast under control and prevent this uncomfortable problem.
  6. Wrinkles and aging – Just like the rest of the body, the penile skin is subject to the ravages of time and gravity. Men who use a penis health formula on a daily basis may be able to stave off the inevitable, preventing wrinkled skin, age spots and other signs that they are not as young as they used to be.
  7. Disease protection – Protecting the integrity of the skin with a vitamin-rich penis health cream can help the penis to resist external invaders such as bacteria and fungal spores that can wreak havoc on the tender skin. Adding an antioxidant-enriched blend of nutrients may also lower the risk of oxidative damage.

Choosing a penis health creme

Once a man has made the choice to invest in a good penis health creme, the next step is to choose the right product. Not all creams and lotions are designed especially for the penis, and using a product that has chemical additives or alcohol may smell nice, but cause further irritation and bigger problems down the road. A specially designed penis health formula (most experts recommend Man1 Man Oil) that is created specifically for use on the male tissue is safer and healthier for the delicate skin. Men should choose a formula with natural moisturizers, as well as added vitamins and other nutrients to support supple, smooth and responsive penile skin.

Dermatitis, Eczema and Psoriasis – What You Can Do

General practitioners are seeing an increasing number of dermatitis and eczema cases with as many as 1 in 4 children suffering from skin problems! Sometimes linked to allergies, eczema may often be accompanied by asthma and hay fever or may simply be present as contact dermatitis.

Orthodox treatments tend to concentrate on the external application of certain creams, often harsh preparations based on steroid and cortisone, which carry the risk of being absorbed through the skin resulting in long term side effects.

Dermatitis literally means skin inflammation, and is similar to eczema. The primary cause appears to be contact allergy. You could be allergic to metals in jewellery, perfumes or cosmetics, detergents in shampoos, soaps or cleaning products. If you suffer from contact allergy it is most likely that you have a food allergy too. Dairy products and wheat are the most common allergens. Symptoms will be more aggressive if you lack essential fatty acids in your diet.

What can you do?

Choose organic produce and try to avoid meat. Fish, especially oily ones like salmon and mackerel are fine, but a vegetarian or vegan diet is preferable. Avoid dairy produce and wheat for a couple of weeks and see if there is any improvement. Try a cleansing herbal supplement or a cleansing diet. Add linseed oil and evening primrose oil to your diet and make sure you get enough zinc, magnesium and vitamins A, C and E.

The most common triggering factors are a combination of food allergies, lack of essential fatty acids and environmental factors. The environment is increasingly considered to be a serious trigger, starting in-utero when the baby is conceived.

Childhood Eczema

Childhood eczema can in most instances be improved by making changes to the diet and lifestyle.

What can you do?

Breast feed instead of bottle feed. Research has shown that babies who are bottle-fed are much more likely to suffer from eczema.

Babies that are breast-fed and not given any solid foods or cow’s milk or eggs in the first 4 months are less likely to develop eczema. Breast-milk contains the perfect balance of essential fatty acids and natural antibodies. Previous studies have shown that eczema sufferers have significantly lower levels of essential fatty acids compared to non-sufferers.

Scientists in Canada have found that an isolated soy-protein formula used as a replacement for cow’s milk can significantly decrease eczema symptoms.

  • Avoid smoking
  • Parental smoking has been found to be a significant risk factor for allergic eczema.

  • Enrich your diet with omega-3 essential fatty acids
  • The Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to reduce itching and scaling. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in Linseed oil (Flax) 54%, Echium oil 45%, Chia oil 30%, Hemp seed oil 20%, Pumpkin seed oil 15%, Soya bean oil 7%, Walnut oil 5% and Wheatgerm oil 5%. Use only organic cold-pressed oils. Only to be used cold try it on your salad, rice, pasta or potatoes.

  • Help the digestive system with lactobacillus acidophilus
  • A poorly functioning digestive system causes the proliferation of toxins in the intestines and some of these toxins have been shown to contribute to the development of atopic eczema. Lactobacillus Acidophilus found in live natural yoghurt, is a friendly bacterium that colonises the intestines and can help correct the situation.

  • Increase the intake of Folic Acid
  • Eczema and psoriasis sufferers have been shown to have low levels of folic acid. Folic acid is found in green leafy vegetables and brewers yeast.

  • Avoid Gluten
  • Several studies have shown that a gluten free diet can have remarkable effect on the skin lesions of eczema and psoriasis sufferers. Gluten is a sticky protein found in bread and other wheat and rye products. Rice and corn are gluten free foods.

  • No thanks to fats from meat
  • Meats and dairy products contain arachidonic acid, a fatty acid that contributes to the inflammation experienced in eczema and psoriasis as well as rheumatism and arthritis. Animal fats can aggravate itching and irritation. Many people experience an improvement in their symptoms after introducing an adequate supply of important nutrients such as essential fatty acids from fish and evening primrose oil. Others experience a difference after adopting a vegetarian or vegan diet.

  • Allergens to avoid
  • Examples of common allergens in food are; oranges, chocolate, eggs and dairy foods, wheat, peanuts, tomatoes and food additives. Avoiding exposure to dietary allergens for a period of minimum 6 weeks can produce significant improvements.

A standard elimination diet avoiding cow’s milk, egg, tomatoes, colours and preservatives can help up to three-quarters of eczema sufferers.

  • Choose bottled water not tap water
  • Tap water with its high content of inorganic minerals, nitrates and nitrites, hormones and other “toxic” compounds has shown to make the eczema sufferers symptoms worse. Plenty of pure, clean spring water is of great importance to our health.

  • Avoid chemical loaded personal care products
  • Try to avoid soaps and detergents as they remove natural lipids from the surface of the skin and make the skin even drier. Chose products made from truly natural ingredients, rich in plant oils and free from perfumes, petro-chemicals, artificial preservatives and foaming agents such as sodium lauryl sulphate. Products containing herbal extracts and essential oils of chamomile, lavender and sandalwood will often help soothe dry eczema.

Psoriasis is a completely different kind of skin condition from eczema or dermatitis and does not respond as well to nutritional interventions. Psoriasis may come and go.

    What can you do?

Start with a cleansing tonic followed by a cleansing diet. Ensure that you get plenty of essential fatty acids. Limit your intake of meat and dairy produce – fish is all right. Supplement your diet with essential oils such as linseed and evening primrose oil. Make sure you get sufficient amounts of zinc, magnesium and vitamins A, C and E, and give yourself the chance to relax and de-stress.

Zetaclear Reviewed – Controversies Surrounding Zetaclear Treatment

Nail fungus infects 1 out of 10 adults in the whole world. I’m sure if you’re one of that ten, you wanted a good solution for your fungus problems. One of the most talked about product to battle nail fungus is Zetaclear. But many doesn’t know that there are some controversies surrounding their treatment.

So let’s a deeper look into this Zetaclear. Upon buying/receiving the product you will notice that there’s two components in Zetaclear treatment system. They are Oral Homeopathic Spray (we’re going to refer it as OHS from this paragraph on) and Clear Nails Solution (CNS).

Many thinks this is a good thing. By buying one brand, you receive two products. But this is not the case. In this case, both represents different treatment approach to nail fungus. Let’s dig further about these two components.

Let’s start with Zetaclear’s CNS. This CNS comprised of undecylenic acid (good stuff) plus other ingredients, oils. Although in general it’s all natural, not all contributes to fight the disease. The oils are to give a more smooth, fragrant treatment. This is a topical solution, I’d say it’s quite good.

The problem lies with the other component, Zetaclear’s OHS. Homeopathy is s a form of alternative medicine based upon principles first defined by Samuel Hahnemann in 1796. A central thesis of homeopathy is that an ill person can be treated using a substance that can produce, in a healthy person, symptoms similar to those of the illness. Which translates to “fighting fire with fire”. So basically this is what they put in OHS,

    • Antimonium Curdum 200C
    • Arsenicum Album 200C
    • Mancinella 30C
    • Nitricum Acidum 30C
    • Sulphur 12X
    • Thuja Occidentalis 200C

Let me explain the C and X part. One C (or centesimal) means that one part of that substance is diluted in 99 parts of pure water, sugar or alcohol (whichever suits the substance). Two C is, take one part of the result One C, then dilute it more in 99 parts of a dilutant. Let me save you the math (I know, I hate it too). So a 200C would mean there’s 1 part to 10 followed by 400 zeros part of water. It’s basically water! The X is just twice the C. So a 12X means 6C.

This is why homeopathic treatments, such as Zetaclear, has been dubbed a placebo effect type of treatment. Of course this works for some people, but the result varies greatly. And to the ones that claim it worked, It is my conclusion that if treatment using Zetaclear worked, it’s mostly caused by the CNS component.

The question is, do you trust a company that claims Zetaclear OHS works?

Dog Food Secrets – How to Stop Dog Food Allergic Problems & Double Your Dog’s Life Span

Can your dog be allergic to his food?

The most common causes of canine food allergies are caused by these ingredients which include meat-by-products, corn, yeast, sale, sugar, and chemical preservatives. They are often responsible for allergic reactions. Dogs who suffer from food allergies will experience reactions such as itchy skins, weepy eyes, ear infections, flatulence, irritated anal glands (running bottom over carpet), rashes, hot spots, and excessive bodily licking, especially around the feet and belly. Repeated exposure to large quantities of allergens in food can cause long-term chronic illnesses, infections, and behavior problems.

How to find out whether your dog’s food may be giving him allergies

If you suspect your dog’s food may be giving him allergies, you can try feeding him a special diet to determine what is giving him trouble. The diet is composed of food that is scientifically created with very low-molecular-weight proteins. Proteins below a certain molecular weight are thought to be incapable of causing food allergies. You can find this food, in wet and dry formulas, online and at many veterinarians’ offices. If after six weeks of feeding this special diet, you find that your dog’s allergy symptoms are alleviated, it’s safe to assume that his food is the cause of these symptoms. To determine which ingredient is the culprit (usually by-products from meat and poultry sources), reinforce each one into the diet to see if your dog’s symptoms recur. Check the ingredients list on your regular dog food label, and add each item-chicken, turkey, corn, bulgur wheat, potato or rice, for example into the special diet one at a time, every three weeks. At each meal, add ten percent of the test food to the bowl, and reduce the special diet by ten percent. Obviously, you won’t be testing the chemicals but you can eliminate quite a few ingredients once you have determined which ones caused the allergy. If your dog has no reaction to the added ingredients, the culprit is likely a chemical or by-product- which you will want to eliminate along with corn, wheat, sugar and salt from your dog’s diet, indefinitely. Don’t be surprised, however, if you find several ingredients cause a reaction. Once you have discovered the allergens, search out high-quality dog foods that do not contain these ingredients. Your dog may find an allergy-free or vet-recommended diet to be bland but a bland diet is better than a miserable dog! As long as he is drinking plenty of water, don’t be alarmed of he doesn’t take to it right away. When he gets hungry enough, he will venture into the new food for a nibble. Eventually, he will adjust to his new diet especially if you compensate with some yummy, allergy-free treats!

In addition to causing food allergies, a sugar high diet also affects your dog’s mood, energy and hunger levels. A sugar high can cause a dog to be hyper and unfocused, and a dog must be focused in order to learn. Many owners mistaken their dogs to be ill-mannered and uncooperative when in fact, their behavior may be food-related.

    Chemical Culprits

Many dog foods contain unnecessary chemical preservatives such as butylated hudroxyanisole (BHA), butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) and ethoxyquin. Although human food also contains BHA and BHT, we consume much less than a dog does in his average 15-year life span. Chemical preservatives are commonly used by large manufacturers in large dosage because their products are made in huge quantities and distributed all over the world, often sitting for long periods of time on store shelves or in warehouses where extreme temperatures can alter the quality of the product.

Dog foods containing natural preservative alternative such as Vitamin E does not hold up long. That is why all-natural pet food manufacturers produce smaller quantities so that their products are more likely to stay fresh till sold. Dog food preserved with mixed tocopherols (Vitamin E) generally has a shelf life of about six months, so use this kind of dog food right away. If you are looking for a new food for your dog, visit a pet food store and ask the employee to recommend a food devoid of the ingredients discussed in this article.

Less expensive dog foods generally include less meat, and more animal by-products and grain fillers. So as you can see, commercial ready made processed dog food contains many indesirable substances and strong chemicals that will cause a lot of health problems to your dog if being fed over a long duration of time.

So, technically yes! You can lengthen your dog’s life span and sometimes as much as double its lifespan if you know dog nutrition and educate yourself of what is really inside a canned of dog food or pet food for that matter. There are many records that had proven a dog can live much more longer if we feed it the food it meant to eat in its natural environment.

Women’s Health Solutions to Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)

Are you tired of those days of the months where you can not zip up your jeans without having to lay down on the bed, breathing in, or jumping up and down to get into one leg? Then you get irritable to top it off? You are not alone. Ninety percent of all women suffer from different degrees of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Marilyn Glenville, PhD, wrote in her book Natural Solutions to PMS that there exists up to 150 possible symptoms that can make you feel terrible and that there are ways to treat some of the most common premenstrual problems.

    • Mood Swings
The idea here is to gain control of your blood sugar by eating small meals regularly. Failure to heed this advice allows your blood-sugar level to decrease and adrenalin levels to increase. The hormone, adrenalin, screws up your normal hormone balance resulting in mood swings. Eliminating caffeine and sugar from your diet will also help prevent irritability. After three menstrual cycles, you will notice a real difference. Keep a stash of health snacks such as nuts, oatcakes, and fresh fruit to minimize your craving for foods that will make you feel worse. Definitely, cut out potato chips and chocolate from your diet.

To combat a mood swing, take a multivitamin containing large amounts of B vitamins. This helps to reduce stress and give you more energy.

    • Bloating
You need to stay hydrated. Not taking in enough fluids makes your body retain any existing fluid you have. This results in swelling, which makes it difficult to fit into your clothes. Minimize or eliminate your salt intake in the weeks prior to your menstruation to help reduce PMS bloating. Eat lots of watery foods, and cut down on your caffeine intake because it can dehydrate you thus worsening your problem.

To deal with bloating, drink herbal teas containing natural diuretics like dandelion, watercress, and celery to minimize your body’s water retention.

    • Fatigue
Maintain your blood sugar. This is tantamount to ensuring there is enough gasoline in your car to keep it going. Eat snacks often so that you do not “crash” in the late afternoon. If you consistently feel fatigue, check with your health care provider to eliminate the possibility of anemia or thyroid disorders.

To help eliminate fatigue, consider taking coenzyme Q10 (coQ10). Coenzyme Q10 helps to release energy by burning fat. It is a great vitaminomimetic (vitamin-like substance) in case PMS causes you to feel excessively sleepy or tired late in the day.

    • Headaches and breakouts
The liver is responsible for detoxifying all hormones your body makes when you are in the premenstrual mode. When the liver does not function as it should, symptoms manifest themselves in the form of skin breakouts or PMS-related migraines and/or headaches. Do not overwork your liver by drinking alcoholic beverages since alcohol will take priority in the liver’s metabolic functions over the hormones.

To minimize headaches and skin breakouts, consider taking milk thistle which enhances liver function. Zinc supplements are optimal for the skin and general menstrual hormonal imbalances.

    • Breast tenderness
Water retention is primarily the cause of breast tenderness. In addition, there is a molecule found in coffee and chocolate called methyl-xanthines that can make the breasts feel very tender and uncomfortable to the touch. Get rid of these from your diet and concentrate on being properly hydrated.

To help get rid of breast tenderness, vitamin E has been shown to be beneficial for premenstrual breast pain and swelling.

    • Cramps
Get regular exercise to relieve cramps. The endorphins released are naturally occurring opiates. You do not have to engage in strenuous exercise, but consider doing something mild like yoga or cycling to help increase blood flow to the pelvic area and relieve cramps in the abdomino-pelvic region. Exercise also helps with any vomiting, diarrhea, and/or constipation that are many times associated with menstrual cramps.

For supplemental solutions to cramps, try magnesium to help relax the blood vessels and muscles. Magnesium helps to open up blood vessels and promote blood flow to the pelvic region. A lack of magnesium in the diet can cause blood vessels to become spastic allowing PMS symptoms to get worse.

Bipolar I Disorder Vs Bipolar II Disorder – The Difference

You may have been told you have bipolar disorder, but you may not have been told which type you have – bipolar I or bipolar II. Even if you have, you may be wondering what the difference is between the two types.

The first thing you need to know is that there IS a difference.

According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders by the American Psychiatric Association, it is broken down as follows:

    Single Manic Episode

The patient has had just one Manic Episode and no Major Depressive Episodes.

    Most Recent Episode (MRE) Manic

The patient has had at least one Major Depressive, Manic or a Mixed Episode.

    MRE Hypomanic

The patient has previously had one or more Manic or Mixed Episodes (ME).

The symptoms cause clinically important distress or impair work, social or personal functioning.

    MRE Mixed

The patient’s most recent episode is of mixed mania and depression.

The survivor has had at least one Major Depressive, Mixed or Manic Episodes.

    MRE Depressed

The patient has had at least one previous Manic or Mixed Episode.

    MRE Unspecified

Other than duration, the patient currently or recently meets criteria for Major Depressive, Manic, Mixed, or Hypomanic episode.

The patient has had at least one previous Manic or Mixed Episode.

These symptoms cause clinically important distress or impair work, social or personal functioning.

The patient has had at least one Major Depressive Episode.

Or has had at least one Hypomanic Episode.

There have been no Manic or Mixed Episodes.

These symptoms cause clinically important distress or impair work, social or personal functioning.

Specify Current or Most Recent Episode: Hypomanic. Depressed.

The difference between bipolar I and bipolar II, then, is that in bipolar II there is NO manic or mixed episodes; whereas, in every case of bipolar I, there IS mania involved.

Commitment Phobic Males – Their Story

Many women have loved a man who cannot love back.

To put it simply, he’s not just doing this to you.

He’s done it to every woman he’s ever been involved with.

    Steven Carter

COMMITMENT: To pledge, promise, or engage oneself in a sincere involvement.

PHOBIA: Persistent, irrational fear or dread of a specific object, activity, or situation that leads to a compelling desire to avoid it.

COMMITMENTPHOBE: Person with a compelling, irrational fear of emotional intimacy.

What woman searching for love doesn’t know the story? You finally find your Mr. Right. He loves you like you’ve always dreamed. He says the right words, does all the right things, and promises you “Happily ever after.” Then, he begins to leave you.

You swallow your pride and promise him more than he ever promised you, just so he will stay. You question your sanity for what was white is black; what was true is false; what was Mr. Right is, in reality, Mr. Wrong. Once you begin your long journey back to reality, you feel the gnawing fear that you may never trust the words “I love you,” again.

Michael’s first conscious memory of his mother was playing at her knee as she sewed on her sewing machine. Michael’s unconscious mind still secretly holds his sobs, pleas and tantrums that were never enough to attract her attention away from her work and towards him. To survive his despair, he learned to be a child comfortable with distance. That child remains, hiding deep in Michael’s mind.

Today, Michael is a very handsome, charming, and successful banker who drives women nuts. He is unaware that he has a problem, much less that his childhood trauma set him up to crave what he fears most: sharing authentic emotional intimacy with a woman.

Michael appears to be a man on a quest for love. He dates often, and wines and dines women like a pro. He knows what a woman needs to feel safe. He brings flowers on a first date, cries like a baby on the second, and melts hearts with “I love you” on the third. In between are endless calls and text messages, bordering on obsessive. He is a master of seduction as he leads a woman out of her common sense reality into his faux fantasy land. Her reluctance interests him, her resistance intrigues him. GAME ON.

Michael professes he wants to marry. To prove it, he’s been engaged three times, once coming frighteningly close to his actual wedding day. He told his future bride the devastating news a whole thirty six hours before he was to promise “Til death do us part.” In Michael’s mind, this was only fair.

Despite all appearances to the contrary, Michael’s mission is not love, but conquest. He rushes into a relationship with such vigor a woman finds it hard to resist him, if for no other reason than wanting to believe her fairy tale prince has come. But, the moment she lets her heart begin to dream of forever, Michael is saddling up his white steed, ready to bolt from the confinement of the castle walls. All she knows is that he suddenly doesn’t call when he says he will. He doesn’t arrive when he says he will. He begins to find fault with her. He begins to avoid her. She is clueless as to what has happened, or why. The same man, who last week swore he could not live without her, now finds excuses to stay away.

Commitmentphobia defies all sense of logic because it was birthed in early childhood, which is not a time of logic, but of feelings. Our earliest emotions are ruled by only one thing, the instinctual desperation to survive. When a young child is soothed by consistently safe and secure bonding with his parents, bliss happens. However, the indescribable emotional trauma of being a rejected, emotionally abandoned child detours nature’s plan away from future healthy adult bonding and towards a life-long, fear-based need to avoid enduring such pain ever again. For a commitmentphobic male, early maternal rejection holds him captive to the paradox of craving what he fears most: love and connection. This includes Michael, who addictively runs towards love, but, when love runs towards him, the unconscious memory of his mother’s refusal to nurture overrides nature.

So, his commitmentphobic cycle continues unabated, and with gusto. As the hopes of each mystified woman are crushed by his irrational reversal, Michael remains clueless and detached. He does not intentionally set out to hurt women. He truly wants intimacy. His very DNA wants intimacy. But, as he watches his current frustrated lover express her disbelief and emotional pain over such betrayal, Michael’s memory bank pulls up the image of his unavailable, rejecting mother. Unknowingly, his newest ex-lover has innocently and tragically triggered his childhood pain. He responds by pulling his emotional trigger on her.

Michael cannot link the pain he causes women to the pain from his mother’s refusal to attend to his childhood needs. But, his ritual of first winning, then rejecting the current “mother” figure, ensures he wins the ultimate game of “gotcha.” Each woman, in her turn, becomes the powerless, pleading child, begging for his affection, while he, the grown up, holds the power to refuse her. As he once begged, woman now begs. GAME OVER. START A NEW GAME.

Commitmentphobic men find it difficult, dare we say, impossible to:

    o Trust

    o Become dependent on another

o Tolerate intimate partners who, quite naturally, want intimacy

They run the spectrum of being somewhat uncomfortable to bolting like the runaway bride when confronted with what they consider too much closeness and intimacy. But, every single one exploits the trust of the women they woo.

Tell Tale Signs You’re Being Pursued by a Commitmentphobic Man

    1. You may not find him that attractive, interesting, and/or irresistible

    2. The more you appear reluctant the more intense his pursuit

    1. He is charming, attentive, sensitive, witty, generous, protective…… i.e. PERFECT

    2. He makes you feel beautiful, special, intelligent, irresistible, safe……. .i.e. PERFECT

    AFTER the 1st date:

    1. You learn he has a history of failed relationships, which he may rationalize as “her fault.”

    2. He sets up constant contact through emails, text messages, phone calls, flower deliveries, greeting cards, and showing up just to surprise you.

    3. He is comfortable with emotions, including crying about his childhood and past relationships.

    4. He may have, or profess to have, a close relationship with his mother.

    3. Before you are expecting it, he hints about making an exclusive commitment to each other.

    4. You test him, and he passes. Examples: He helps you move; gives up his “boys’ night out;” picks up your mom at the airport; holds you after sex….. all night; fixes you breakfast the morning after; tells you you’re beautiful when you look awful; kisses the tears from your cheeks.

    5. He easily talks of a future together, including tomorrow, next week, next year and forever.

    6. He says he wants children, or wishes you had been the mother of his children.

    7. Every thing you’ve ever dreamed of, and been terrified to trust could come true, is coming true.

    8. You have never felt so loved, unconditionally.

    1. He repeats any or all of the above with you in much less time

    2. Or, he repeats any or all of the above with your replacement

The phrase “If it looks too good to be true, it probably is,” was never truer than when you are being pursued by a commitmentphobic man. I know those words are hard to read. I know how desperately you want to believe his promises are true. I know how desperately you want to believe you have finally found the one you’ve searched for all of your life. I know you can, and likely will, invent all sorts of reasons why he’s turned away from you. I know because I have been where you are. Sister, if you stay, you will beg to be loved and your denial will bleed your self-worth dry.

How do you disentangle from his web of lies, deceit, false hope and fear?

    1. Open your tear-filled eyes.

    2. See this episode as a full frontal abuse of your trust and affection.

    3. Totally disengage from any and all contact with him.

    4. Run the emotional gamut from paralyzing grief to empowering rage.

    5. Then, don’t waste your suffering.

You, the woman, are the only one responsible for protecting your self-worth by embracing your dignity with an unbreakable promise to your own emotional well-being, first, last and always. This promise is your golden key to staying safe, focused and on the path that leads to your true prince. Finding him requires time, testing, and tenacity, but you will recognize him. He’ll be the one patiently waiting until you are absolutely sure you have found him. He will be the man with whom you can trust your truth and your tears; the man who will keep your soul safe.

    Blessings on your way,

    Morgan Delaney, M.S.

Havanese Training – What To Do If Your Dog Has Separation Anxiety

Separation anxiety is one of the more common problems that Havanese dog owners face.  After all your dog is extremely loyal and wants to go wherever the owner goes.  We would love to have our Havanese accompany us wherever we go but that is just not feasible especially when we have to go to work or to areas where dogs are not allowed.

Leaving them at home can cause anywhere from slight levels of anxiety to severe behavioral problems that result in barking and destruction of your things at home.  When you come home you may find that your dog has chewed through your favourite pair of shoes or has peed on the carpet because they were anxious when you were not around.  It is sometimes hard to imagine that your cute Havanese turns into a little monster at home, all because they get worried that you left them and won’t return.

The Sources of Dog Separation Anxiety

The main driving force behind the anxiety is their inherent nature of being pack animals and separating them from the pack causes them uncertainty and agitation.  They feel a sense of detachment when their master leaves and that gets them disturbed.  In fact, there are certain actions that the owner takes that builds on this anxiety and gets them even more agitated.

For example, if you give them attention before you leave or right after you return and this is done on a consistent basis every day, the pattern you set gets engrained in their routine and their agitation builds day after day.

    Reducing Dog Separation Anxiety

What you don’t realize is that you actually have more control on their agitation than you may think.  Certain changes in your actions could go a long way in reducing their agitation and thus curbing their anxiety.

Here are some simple ways you can reduce the anxiety:

Mix it up every day: If you have a set number of tasks you do each day before you leave, you may want to change it around a bit.  If you know that your Havanese dog starts to act up when you pick up the car keys, for instance, try using another approach to get your keys the next time.  Put your keys in your pocket well ahead of time before leaving.  Another common trigger is their morning walk just before being left.  If they know you leave them at home right after you walk them, try taking them for a walk well before you plan to leave.

Remain neutral: It is difficult not to give them affection just before you leave.  After all you will be miss them all day too.  However, doing this only escalates their anxiety when you leave them.  The same applies when you return home.  Try not to give them excessive attention before you leave or right after you return.  The most effective way to lower their anxiety is to disassociate your leaving and returning with the amount of attention they receive.  It is recommended that you pretend nothing has changed before you leave or when you return and you do that by ignoring your dog for 10 minutes before and after.  Don’t pet them or hug them during those moments even if they make sad noises or have a sad expression.  Remember, you are doing this only to help them reduce their anxiety when you are not at home.

Start with shorter periods:  If you see your dog is getting anxious as soon as you leave, go out for a few minutes and then come back in.  That will change their expectation of how long you will be gone and when you return.  You can slowly increase the time you leave them so it would appear natural to them that you do come back even if you leave.

    You Are Not Being Mean

You may think that some of these methods are cruel and it certainly feels that way when dealing with Havanese dogs who get extremely attached to their owner.  What you need to realize is that when you do this you reduce their anxiety which in turn allows them to be calmer and healthier in the long run.

If your dog’s anxiety problems carry on for a long time, you should do everything you can to reduce it early and not let it get worse.  The last thing you want to do is come home to find your Havanese dog has done something they shouldn’t have and you immediately respond by shouting at them (and that happens because you created that situation in the first place).

You can learn about these and other training secrets at the Havanese Training site.

Chinese Herbal Formulas to Treat Brain Symptoms and Disease

Quantum Brain Healing uses Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) along with other therapies to heal the brain. TCM utilizes both acupuncture and herbal medicine to treat disease. Modern medicine of the future looks to enhance brain function and intellect as well as treat existing diseases. Family history of certain brain diseases like senile dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s will be treated with herbal medicine prior to the disease’s onset to prevent or diminish the severity of the disease. Quantum Brain Healing hopes to have diagnostic testing that can do cellular testing of herbs in a laboratory to pinpoint which herbs and herbal formulas will best treat the patient’s disease.

Quantum Brain Healing often uses TCM herbal formulas for treating brain related symptoms and diseases. Below are several of the Chinese herbal formulas that may be used to treat and prevent brain diseases. The formulas are not intended to be purchased by a patient. These formulas are meant to expose people to the unique symptoms and diseases which can be treated or improved with TCM and direct patients into seeking an appointment with a TCM or alternative medicine doctor to receive the correct formula for their individual diagnosis. The Chinese formula descriptions are based on classic Chinese disease patterns. As patients take formulas, their symptoms will morph and formulas will be altered to these changes. It is possible that person’s chronic illness will require the same herbal formula for an extended time period, but one should not assume this to be the case.

Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang He Sheng Mai San Jia Jian (Blue Poppy) is an antiaging formula which can treat stress, dizziness, fatigue, stimulate the immune system, and increase brain circulation to enhance the memory. The Chinese diagnosis for this formula is that it boosts the qi, enriches yin, and arouses the brain, but, because it upbears the clear and disinhibits the qi mechanism, it supplements without stagnating. In particular, this formula supports the organs that provide energy to the body which are the lungs, spleen, and kidneys. It boosts immunity, improves both physical and mental performance, and improves adaptation to stress. It is indicated for the treatment of qi and yin dual vacuity resulting in fatigue, lowered immunity, and aging. Immortal Qi can also be used as a sports performance-enhancing supplement as well as for the prevention and treatment of altitude sickness

Chai Hu Long Gu Mu Li Tang (Plum Flower or Blue Poppy) treats complaints such as stress, anxiety, irritability, insomnia, irritability, anger, nicotine withdrawal, drug withdrawal, alcohol withdrawal, frustration and schizophrenia. The Chinese diagnosis for this formula is liver-spleen disharmony with depressive heat, phlegm dampness, and disquieted heart spirit.

Jie Yu Ding Mian Fang or Resolve Depression & Stabilize Sleep (Blue Poppy) treats insomnia with irritability or emotional depression. The Chinese diagnosis for this formula is insomnia lasting for longer than three months and where patients may not sleep at all or sleep for one to two hours per night. Patient has a combination of liver depression qi stagnation with possible depressive heat and blood stasis with malnourishment and disquietude of the heart spirit.

Modified Eleven Flavors Warm the Gallbladder (Blue Poppy) treats symptoms of insomnia, anxiety, depression, PMS, and perimenopausal syndrome. The Chinese diagnosis includes heart-gallbladder qi timidity with depressive heat in the heart, liver, and possibly stomach and intestines. Heart-gallbladder qi timidity is the shorthand name for a more complex pattern. The entire disease pattern is based on the liver and spleen being out of balance with one another. This is liver depression and spleen qi vacuity with depressive heat and phlegm harassing the heart spirit. It also includes heart qi and blood vacuity due to enduring spleen vacuity.

Suan Zao Ren (Plum Flower) treats stress symptoms including migraine headaches, dizziness, insomnia, and mental agitation. The Chinese diagnosis for this formula includes nourishing the blood, clearing excess heat and calming the spirit

Tian Wang Bu Xin Dan (Plum Flower) or Emperors Teapills treat mild to moderate cases of anxiety, irritable, concentration problems, senile dementia, memory problems, restlessness, and occasional insomnia. The Chinese diagnosis for this formula is that it nourishes Yin & blood, tonifies Heart & calms spirit.

Xiao Yao Wan (Blue Poppy) treats symptoms of neurosis, insomnia, irritation, panic, vertigo, anxiety, stress, dizziness, and depression. The Chinese diagnosis for this formula includes liver depression and spleen vacuity with blood vacuity and possible dampness.

Yi Nao Jiao Nang treats brain complaints of neurasthenia, insomnia, poor memory, profuse dreaming, brain arteriosclerosis and dizziness. The Chinese Diagnosis for this formula includes qi and blood deficiency with deficiency of kidney essence and liver and kidney yin.

Metatarsalgia and Sesamoiditis Treatment With Metatarsal Pads

If you are experiencing pain in the ball of your foot, you may need metatarsal pads to help solve your foot problem. Pain in the ball of the foot is most commonly caused by Metatarsalgia, which is a foot condition that is characterized by inflammation of the tissues in the ball of the foot, and is accompanied by considerable pain in many cases. The balls of the feet have to take a significant proportion of the body weight with each step, and pressure is exerted in the toe of phase of the stride, which normal feet can endure, but anyone suffering from metarsalgia can find very painful.

The best and most effective way to treat metatarsalgia is to rest your foot that is painful. Try to think of the activity that may have caused a problem with the balls of your feet and refrain from that activity for a few days until your feet have recovered. Whilst trauma is a common case of metatarsalgia, it can also be triggered by obesity, as the balls of the feet are required to take a greater force, and one for which they were not designed.

The reason as to why there is inflammation is due to the strain and stress in nerve endings that connect the third and fourth bones of your feet. Unlike other foot problems where expensive and extensive medical treatments are needed, metatarsalgia only needs a few days of rest, and metatarsal pads can be of great help if you are prone to the condition, or cannot afford to take time off of your feet.

If you are suffering from metatarsalgia is it not necessary to totally refrain from exercise, but a switch to low impact activities such as swimming or cycling is better for the feet until they recover. Low impact activities such as these do not aggravate or strain the affected area.

Just as metatarsal pads are useful for easing the strain on the balls of the feet for sufferers of metatarsalgia, they are also useful to help prevent the problem. They cushion the balls of the feet, and can be slipped into most footwear.

Metatarsal pads work in such away that they spread your weight more evenly in the forefoot and thus effectively reduce pressure on the balls of your feet. As they give extra cushioning for the ball of the foot, people with metatarsalgia can enjoy waking and going about their day to day routines without pain. People who have severe metatarsalgia may need to look for other options such as surgery, but for mild to moderate cases they are often all that is required. Metatarsal pads have also benefits for other ball of foot complaints such as sesamoiditis. Sesamoiditis is a form of tendonitis which affects the sesamoid bones and tendon at the base of the big toe. Whilst cushioning directly under the joint may seem like a logical treatment, it is more beneficial to raise the lesser toes to ease the strain, and metatarsal pads can be effective at doing just that.

The earlier you seek help for foot problems such as metatarsalgia and sesamoiditis, the easier and quicker it is to treat the conditions, and slipping some metatarsal pads in your shoes is an inexpensive and highly effective treatment to prevent the deterioration of foot problems such as these.
