Can You Get Pregnant While You Have a Yeast Infection? Problems You Can’t Imagine

Many women out there want to know, can you get pregnant while you have a yeast infection? For some reason, there is a major belief out there about sex and yeast infection that can create huge problems for people. Let’s get rid of this myth right now.

So can you get pregnant while you have a yeast infection? The quick answer is yes, absolutely you can get pregnant while you have a yeast infection. I get hundreds of women asking on a regular basis whether or not this infection will kill sperm or if they can get pregnant. I am glad they are asking and looking for the answer before they take any action.

The women I feel bad for are those who live under the assumption that they cannot get pregnant or that a yeast infection will kill sperm. I cannot even imagine how many women, especially young girls lives are ruined by the myth that it kills sperm or that they cannot get pregnant.

The problem gets worse. It is possible for a woman to give a man a yeast infection as well. Not only will they get pregnant, they will give their partner the infection. I have seen many relationships go through hard times because he believed that the woman gave him a sexually transmitted disease, when this wasn’t the case at all. Not to mention the fact that he thought she was cheating on him because of it.

Can you get pregnant while you have a yeast infection? Yes you can, and it may cause more problems than you ever imagined. Not only the having a baby part, but the possibility of throwing a big rock in the middle of your relationship as just a few of the issues that may arise.

Healthy Hygiene Tips For Wrestlers

There are many contagious diseases and skin conditions that can be transmitted by wrestling with an infected partner or training on mats that are not cleaned properly. With ringworm being the most common, cellulitis, impetigo, staph and strep are all possibilities when it comes to contagions that prefer the sport of wrestling. Even more serious illnesses such as the flesh eating MRSA bacteria and even hepatitis can be transmitted from one athlete to another while grappling. This is why it’s important for prevention to be taken very seriously with athletes going beyond just showering after practice. Complete prevention is dependent on proper hygiene habits adopted by both the athlete and gym owner. Fortunately, there are many helpful products available to fortify personal hygiene as well as arm gym owners with powerful tools to keep a disease free training environment.

To avoid contagious skin infections, wrestlers should shower immediately following each practice. Anti bacterial soaps and body gels that are specifically designed to combat pathogens common to wrestling should be used. When showering, it’s best to use a wash cloth, shower mesh or luffa sponge to rough up the skin a bit for complete removal of infectious microbes. If a shower is not available at your location, anti bacterial wipes are by no means a replacement for a shower however are great products to offer a temporary defense until a deeper clean is possible. Sanitizing wipes should be used much like a bar of soap, scrubbing all the limbs, torso, face, neck and even hair. Anti-bacterial wipes are smart prevention and excellent to use at tournaments for quick cleaning between matches with different partners. Anti bacterial soaps and wipes are cheap, readily available online and should be included as part of every wrestler’s most essential gear.

Sweaty gym clothing that gets thrown in your wrestling bag right after practice is a great place for bacteria and pathogens to thrive. Throwing your soiled clothes into the washer should be done after each practice so bacteria and germs don’t get a chance to grow into a scary monster. Begin each day with freshly laundered clothing and towels. When battling an outbreak, wash sheets, linens and clothing daily with anti-bacterial detergent specially designed for killing microbes. These can be found online or at a medical supplies store and are an important factor in getting rid of an infection quickly. For the best prevention, use anti-bacterial, anti-viral foams, sprays and lotions are available for use directly before a match. These help by helps by providing a protective layer keeping contaminates from adhering to the body allowing for them to be washed away when cleaned with soap and water.

It’s also smart to read up and educate yourself about MRSA, the dangerous flesh eating, antibiotic resistant bacteria. This super bug is a cousin of staph and is on the rise in athletic settings. A MRSA infection can be disfiguring and even fatal and should be taken seriously; unfortunately it enjoys living on wrestling mats and dirty athletes. Prevention should include keeping a close eye on any cuts or scrapes during wrestling season and the personal hygiene tips listed above. Do not share personal items that have the potential for spreading infection such as razors, towels or even water bottles. Athletes with infected or open wounds should avoid wrestling or contact with other athletes until they are completely healed. If it appears a cut or wound is getting infected, consult a doctor for the very reason of ruling out this problem and heading it off at the pass; once you get it, it’s very difficult to get rid of.

Besides personal hygiene on the part of the athlete, gym owners are also responsible for prevention of contagious pathogens in wrestling. Wrestling mats must be cleaned and disinfected before each use with a mop that’s been laundered. If mats are rolled up and stored at the end of practice, it’s also important to clean the underside of the mat as well. Wrestling mat sanitizing products should be effective against MRSA, ringworm (trichophyton mentagrophites), staph, strep, herpes, hepatits (B and C) and the Aids virus. These germs should be listed on the label of the cleaner used or they may not kill them and thus offer less protection. It’s also important to follow the instructions on the label about how to use the mat cleaner so the proper amount of water is used when diluting. If too much water is used, the product will be too dilute and may not completely eliminate all possible pathogens. Finally, use a deep cleaning product once a month on training mats and equipment surfaces for a more thorough eradication of potentially harmful microbes.

Kidney Diet Secrets That Can Reverse Chronic Kidney Failure

There was a time when the main remedy for advanced kidney failure was kidney dialysis, which — although effective — requires regular repetition and is highly inconvenient.

So it’s exciting to see there have been some very promising reports by leading kidney disease researchers, who have published articles in highly regarded, peer-reviewed medical journals about their success in reversing kidney disease by using a specially designed kidney diet.

More recently, recent research by Dr Charles Mobs, PhD, at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, found a diet with quite high levels of fat, but restricted carbohydrates and with only moderate consumption of protein can actually reverse kidney failure in as little as two months. In fact it has been found that just four weeks on the diet may be enough to reverse the slide down to kidney failure.

The key secret of a kidney failure diet is based around the certain kidney disease diet restrictions. These include:

Protein.

Salt or sodium.

Potassium.

Phosphorous.

Whilst these items are still permissible in a kidney failure diet menu, the amounts need to be strictly controlled, depending on the degree of damage that has occurred to the kidneys. This is because the ability of a damaged kidney to excrete excess amounts of these substances is limited. For example, healthy kidneys can deal with as much as 4700 milligrams of potassium, whilst a person with kidney disease should keep their daily intake strictly below 2700 milligrams. The Recommended Daily Allowance for potassium for healthy folks is set at 3,500 milligrams.

A similar restriction applies when you need to adopt a low phosphorous diet, because impaired kidneys can only reasonably handle 700 – 900 milligrams daily, compared with the up to 2,000 milligrams a day a healthy pair of kidneys can cope with.

Many folks know about the dangers of excess salt or sodium, and these are now generally well highlighted on food labels. It is recommended that you eat no more than 2,400 milligrams of salt or sodium daily. Unfortunately, it’s very easy to exceed this by a very wide margin, because salt is found in virtually all processed foods and even in the most unlikely places, such as breakfast cereals and even top brands of mineral water.

Generally, a healthy pair of kidneys will be able to dump any excess, although constant high levels bring with it the danger of raised blood pressure — which, in turn — can damage the kidneys.

But, if you are on a chronic kidney failure diet, salt consumption needs to be strictly controlled to between 1,000 and 2,000 milligrams a day, from all sources, depending on your level of kidney impairment. This is to avoid a harmful build up of salt which can result in fluid building up in the lungs, making it very hard to breathe and even bringing about heart failure, due to overworking the heart by excess fluid in the bloodstream.

Excessive protein consumption is one of the possible causes of kidney disease. So, not only is the amount of protein consumed when on a renal failure diet important, so is the quality.

And, if you have been depressed by all this gloom about what you can’t eat, let’s now celebrate all the mouthwatering treats that you can feast on whilst on a kidney failure diet plan.

Chief amongst those is one of the highest forms of quality protein: oily fish, such as delicious salmon. This is rich in Omega 3 oils, which was shown in research by Dr Alexander Leaf of Harvard Medical School who fed fish oil to animals with kidney disease and affected a 100% cure. A 3 ounce piece of wild salmon contains 50 milligrams of sodium, 274 milligrams phosphorus and 368 milligrams of potassium.

And you can also feast on red bell peppers, which are delicious raw, stuffed with rice and herbs or roasted in olive oil. Yet a half a cup only contains 1 milligram of sodium, 10 milligrams of phosphorus and 88 milligrams of potassium. What’s more they are a very rich source of vitamin C (containing twice as much as a green pepper). They also contain vitamin A, as well as vitamin B6, folic acid and fiber. The red color also shows they contain lycopene, an antioxidant thought to protect against certain cancers.

You can also enjoy onions in many dishes to add texture and flavor, because they are not only amongst the healthiest vegetable to eat, they are also crammed with flavonoids, especially quercetin, a powerful antioxidant that works to reduce heart disease and protects against many cancers. And onions keep you well under your kidney diet targets, containing just 3 milligrams of phosphorus, 3 milligrams of sodium and 116 milligrams of potassium in 1/2 a cup. Onions are also a good source of chromium, a mineral that helps with the efficient metabolism of carbohydrates, fat and protein.

And the even more exciting news is the development of diets, based on all this highly respected research has allowed some folks with end stage renal failure to actually reverse their kidney disease to such an extent they have actually managed to avoid starting kidney dialysis at all.

The Benefits of Drug Rehab To an Addict

I realize the thought of entering drug rehab is a daunting one. I know you are scared. I need you to trust me when I tell you it is the greatest gift you can give yourself and the people you love. I need you to trust me when I tell you it is the only option you have if you truly want to live a happy, healthy life, or simply want to live period. Whether your flavor of the day is cocaine, crack, alcohol or a combination of the three, the medical professionals in any of the hundreds of treatment centers across the country WILL help you defeat your addiction. I have my convictions and recommend these centers for drug treatment for many reasons, all of which I can sum up in two words: treatment approaches.

1. Drug Rehab Detoxification Process

The most grueling, and most important aspect on the road to recovery is the release of the demons from your body. If you were to attempt detoxifying on your own, I guarantee you would be reaching for the first needle or pipe you could find in less than 24 hours, blowing your chances of recovery out of the water. You experience emotional withdrawal symptoms such as depression, anxiety, mood swings and suicidal thoughts. Physically you vomit, suffer from chills, cramps, muscle aches and sleeplessness. When you have the courage to check into a treatment center, the medical staff monitors you 24 hours during this arduous time, easing these symptoms with medication until the process ends. I guarantee you won’t regret this decision.

2. Personalized Treatment Plan

The story behind your addiction is as unique as your fingerprint. The staff your chosen treatment facility realizes this, assessing you and your situation before preparing a personalized treatment plan that suits your needs. Their goal is to see you succeed, not only during your stay with them, but once you leave the center as well. Although there are so many drug rehabs available to choose from, I love that no two are the same. I have yet to see a “Stepford Wives” type treatment facility.

3. Therapy In A Drug Rehab

Call it therapy, call it counseling, I am a strong advocate of both; a major reason I highly recommend you seek assistance for your addiction from a treatment center. Drug addiction plays games with your mind while destroying your life. It does not take long for it to distort your perception of reality. In the process, your reality begins to fall apart and you no longer know what to believe. Treatment centers offer many types of therapy to assist you with finding yourself and your reality again. Your counselor aids you in changing your negative ways of thinking, allowing you to see that yes, there are positives in your life. You begin setting goals and receive rewards when you reach these goals. What does this do for you? Increases your self-esteem, something you have not had, something you thought only the drugs could give you. So yes, I’m not only a proponent of counseling offered in drug rehab treatment centers, I know it is the only means you have of recovering from your addiction.

4. Restoring Your Family

Your stay in a treatment facility is not just for you, it is for your family, too. It is no secret that drug addiction tears families apart. Your stay in the facility is a way of restoring what is broken. At some point your family is invited to come in for counseling as well. Perhaps you they were in denial of your addiction, did not know how to cope or chose to believe that you could quit if you truly loved them. During counseling they will learn how to support you during your recovery process, and any underlying family issues that may have contributed to your drug use in the past are addressed to prevent relapse once you go home. This is a major benefit you would not have had if you did not enter the treatment center.

5. Drug Rehab Preparation Plan

You cannot stay at the rehab center forever, but alas, the staff you have come to consider as family will not leave you hanging. They bid you adieu with a treatment plan for you to follow once you arrive home, and locate a Narcotics Anonymous group for you in your area. They want you to succeed and remain drug free, therefore, they give you the tools you need for this.

I cannot stress enough the importance a drug rehab plays in the role of an addict’s life. The support, knowledge and therapy you receive while under the compassionate care of the staff is the only chance you have to break the ties that bind you. The benefits outweigh the–oh wait, there are no drawbacks. Good luck during your stay, and I wish you a healthy and speedy recovery.

Bad Symptoms of Pregnancy Pregnant Women Should Not Ignore – When to Call the Doctor

Just how serious are the bad symptoms of pregnancy – Has your doctor confirmed that you`re pregnant, if so what wonderful news and especially more so if this is what you wanted. It `s an exciting time to hear of pregnancy and no doubt like other expectant women you start doing up the nursery, buy baby booties, baby mittens, diapers and even larger items like the pram and cot. It is sensible to be ready and prepared for baby`s arrival because them 9 months just fly by. Some women experiencing pregnancy for the first time tend to excite themselves that much, and would you believe, sit back and waits for morning sickness to happen and looks forward to the swelling belly. Big tummy and swollen ankles are common symptoms of pregnancy just like them early morning vomiting bouts which we accept as normal when carrying a baby, however not all symptoms suffered are classed as normal, in fact they can be nasty and signify problems in your pregnancy.

With it being your first pregnancy you are not expected to know what is normal or not, nevertheless if you “don’t feel right” regardless then see your GP or midwife.

Remember your body is changing rapidly that it’s sometimes difficult to know whether what you’re experiencing is natural. You are not to stress out over the bad symptoms of pregnancy because with medical monitoring and appropriate treatment healthy babies are being delivered all the time.

Below are some bad symptoms of pregnancy that should have you seek medical advice if you experience them

1. Severe or sharp upper- to mid-abdominal pain, with or without nausea or vomiting can signify severe indigestion, a tummy bug, food poisoning or pre-eclampsia which is a serious condition that requires immediate medical attention.

2. If you feel feverish and your temperature exceeds 37.5 degrees C / 100 degrees F but with no flu or cold symptoms call you’re GP, but if it scales to more than 39 degrees C / 102 degrees F, then “immediate” attention from your doctor is vital. (Infection is probable.) Never must you while pregnant attempt to relieve headache or backache pain with any type of medication without consulting your doctor first.

3. If vision is a problem it has to be checked out because this is not natural in pregnancy. Double vision, blurring, dimming, flashing spots or lights that last for more than two hours are not normal symptoms.

4. Swelling of the stomach is the norm but if swelling or, puffiness affects the hands, face and eyes then talk to the midwife.

5. Spotting blood without pain may be a normal sign of implantation, when the embryo attaches itself to the uterus early in the pregnancy or breakthrough bleeding. Medical attention should be sought after if you bleed during pregnancy because it could indicate a serious complication: Bleeding that is different from your normal period (heavier or lighter and often darker) with severe, persistent, one-sided pain in the abdomen can be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy. Heavy loss of blood, especially if shared with persistent back or abdominal pain, can be associated with a potential or actual miscarriage. Never leave anything to chance; it is imperative for your health and your unborn baby`s welfare to have yourself examined sooner than later. Late into the pregnancy, bleeding may signify placenta praevia, placental abruption, which happens when the placenta starts to part from the wall of the uterus, or premature labour. As we delve further into the bad symptoms of pregnancy it may well be frightening you, this is not the intention. They are merely pointers of what bad symptoms are in pregnancy – for you to be able determine normal or not – so to keep you in good health while carrying your baby. Healthy stress free women deliver healthy stress free babies. An unborn baby can sense distress.

6. Leaking of fluid from the vagina before 37 weeks can mean that the membranes have ruptured prematurely. If this be the case in your case you may have to go into hospital for complete bed rest and treatment to prevent possible infection happening and to prepare your baby for possible premature birth. If it`s any consolation and you worry over baby coming to soon, well my son was born 8 weeks early weighing 3lbs who is now a strapping 6ft fella employed as a computer technician with several mathematician qualifications under his belt. They say good things come in little packages and he is living proof, even after being kept in “SCBU” (Special Care Baby Unit) for 14 days, this was because he could not maintain his temperature and never knew what is his mouth was for when it came to feeding. The same guy eats me out of house and home now.

7. A sudden increase in thirst accompanied by little or no urination can be a sign of dehydration or gestational diabetes, which increases the risk of complications for you and your baby. There is no need to panic just because you drank 3 glasses of water today. You will know what is meant by a sudden increase if it should happen to you.

8. Painful or burning urination accompanied by a temperature shivering and backache are normally clear signs of a urinary tract infection.

9. Severe vomiting where you constantly wretch more than two to three times a day.

10. Continuous vomiting can dehydrate and tire you out, although it won’t harm your unborn baby. If you have severe bouts of throwing up (hyperemesis gravidum) it may require you going into hospital.

11. Fainting, dizziness and light headiness could be a sign of hunger. It is unhealthy to go without food when you are pregnant. Low blood pressure can cause these symptoms.

12. Severe lower abdominal pain on either or both sides means you could have pulled a ligament, or it may be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy miscarriage and premature labour, a fibroid degenerating and bleeding into itself or placental abruption.

13. Some babies stay dormant for considerable periods of time because they are lazy, however if the unborn baby`s movements slow down or cease for more than 24 hours after 21 weeks it could be that the infant is in distress.

14. All-over body itchiness late into pregnancy with or without jaundice, dark urine and pale stools are symptoms normally connected to hepatitis or another liver-based problem, such as obstetric cholestasis

Baby is well cushioned by the uterus and amniotic fluid so if you take a tumble it does not mean you have harmed your baby.

Although we speak of bad symptoms of pregnancy it does not mean they are that bad that they cannot be treated. We have millions of babies all over the globe who you may bet never came into the world quietly without giving mom some discomfort or “worries” throughout them nine months. All you need to worry about now are the sleepless nights that lay ahead that start from the day your child is born up until the day you die.

Itchy, Achy, Tired and Swollen Legs – Varicose Veins? A Tried & Tested Treatment For Vein Disorders

Are you suffering from tingling, painful or tense legs especially after long periods of standing or sitting, varicose veins or small varices on the upper or lower leg, tired, heavy and swollen legs, especially at night, itching and / or hardening skin?

If you do, then you’re not alone, millions of people are suffering from the above mentioned symptoms which are often the initial signs of venous insufficiency. About 44% of women and 19% of men are alerted to vein problems by the time they reach just 30 years of age. But by the time they reach 50, over 54% of women and 42% of men are affected by some form of Varicose Veins. A recent study in Edinburgh showed that more than 50% of women in the general population had aching, heavy or tense feeling legs.

Uncomfortable legs can make it difficult to get on with the day’s tasks and often affect people’s enjoyment of life. Many people put up with these feelings, because they think they’re an unavoidable part of getting older. However, these leg discomforts are often made worse by general lifestyles and other factors in everyday life, which affect the action of the leg veins.

Why do we get varicose veins? The veins in our legs have to work very hard to transport blood back to the heart against the force of gravity. And in today’s hectic Western lifestyle, which often involves standing or sitting all day, this puts a great strain on our leg vein circulation. As a result of this heavy load on the leg veins, fluid enters into the surrounding tissues causing swelling, pain and that “heavy leg” feeling.

The decreased efficiency of the valves in our veins leads to insufficient return of blood from the legs. The valve at the top of a vein can become ‘incompetent’ and stops working properly; this allows an abnormally high pressure on the section of vein beneath it. This stretches the vein’s wall, making it varicose, and this makes the next valve down incompetent, and so on down the leg.

As we get older we are more at risk of developing varicose veins because of loss of tissue tone, loss of muscle mass and weakening of vein walls; however other risk factors include: lack of exercise, pregnancy, prolonged sitting or standing, obesity, excessive alcohol consumption, certain hormone treatments, wearing tight fitting clothing and long flights.

Aching and heaviness of the legs are common complaints, particularly after standing up for a long time. Some people with varicose veins get itching and a feeling of heat and tenderness over their veins. All symptoms caused by varicose veins tend to be worse at the end of the day, and relieved (at least to some extent) by ‘putting your feet up’.

Most people will find that their legs are more swollen and tender at night, although the swelling normally goes away after a night in bed, it will return the following day after standing or sitting. However, if chronic venous insufficiency is left untreated and allowed to progress, it can lead to much more serious health problems. In some people abnormally high pressure in the leg veins can cause damage to the skin, and eventually lead to ulcers.

The first sign of trouble is often mild eczema and itchiness of the skin – usually just above the ankle. This can be settled temporarily by steroid-containing creams, but in the long term they are not a safe or satisfactory treatment, because they can cause the skin to become thin and fragile. If neglected, the eczema can become very severe, with inflamed, red, scaly skin all around the lower leg. Some people will also notice a darkening of the skin – first to a pale brown colour, and later to a dark, shiny brown appearance, or shiny white areas of skin, which are a sign of quite advanced skin damage.

In chronic venous disease, it is not only the skin that becomes discoloured, shiny and hard, the fat beneath also becomes hard and shrinks, so that the area finishes up ‘dented’. This can lead on to ulcers on the skin, which can become very large and extremely painful, and unfortunately leg ulcers are becoming more and more common in the Western World. However, treating the underlying venous problems will help to stop it getting worse and becoming more vulnerable.

Of course other than the health implications, it is the cosmetic embarrassment of varicose veins which brings misery to many people. An image conscious society naturally makes women want to have nice looking legs. Some doctors may be unsympathetic to their patients with varicose veins as they do not see these problems as particularly life threatening, but for those who are sufferers it can cause pain, embarrassment and misery.

Luckily, there are many ways in which you can help yourself avoid these problems. Venavine Plus Leg Health capsules are a powerful, yet natural remedy that will quickly and easily start to help with the symptoms of venous insufficiency. Venavine Plus is scientifically proven to help maintain healthy leg vein circulation.

The red capsules contain active ingredients of Red Vine Leaf extract. The knowledge of the medicinal potential of grape vine (Vitis vinifera) can be traced back far in history. French wine farmers seldom suffered from vein disorders or heart problems, and the belief was that this was due to them drinking infusions made of Red Vine leaves.

Medical Studies have now shown that the substances found in Red Vine Leaves have significant health and healing properties that protect the leg veins, reducing the loss of fluid into the surrounding tissues and helping maintain healthy leg vein circulation. Venavine Plus therefore assists in improving leg vein circulation and preventing discomfort of tired, heavy and aching legs caused by prolonged periods of standing or sitting.

The leaves themselves grow on red grape vines in many areas of the world and are cultivated in warm and dry regions of Europe, Africa and in South America. The red vine leaf is harvested following the grape harvest. It is at this time that the leaves have the highest content of the key ingredients. After being harvested, the leaves are dried and then extracted using purified water, a method that is dependent upon precise temperature control. In this process, the extracting agent permeates the leaves and dissolves out the ingredients in several stages. The liquid phase is separated from the raw material residue and dried, leaving the active ingredients which are then found in Venavine Plus.

Venavine Cooling Leg Gel is also available. This is an easy way to help tired and heavy legs feel refreshed at the end of a busy day. This pleasant and non-greasy gel also containing Red Vine Leaf Extract, is for topical application. Massage a little gel into your legs for an immediate cooling and soothing effect. The gel has been specially designed to complement the action of the Venavine Plus Leg Health Capsules. The gel can be used with the capsules or by itself.

10 Natural Supplements To Help You Beat H Pylori

I’ve received hundreds of emails from people confused about which natural supplements to take in order to inhibit H pylori. The truth is that there are many companies out there who are eager to take your money and provide very little in the way of answers or support should you feel as though their products are not working.

I hope that by sharing my experience of dealing with hundreds of H pylori cases over the last three years I can help you choose the right path on your journey to wellness.

1. Berberine

Berberine is a constituent of herbs such as goldenseal, barberry and Oregon grape. It has been shown to have broad-spectrum antibiotic activity. Studies in vitro have demonstrated that berberine can inhibit H pylori, but it may not be potent enough to eradicate the organism.

2. Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice Root (DGL)

DGL is a well established anti-ulceration and mucosal healing agent. DGL can coat and soothe the intestinal lining and promote the healing of inflamed tissue and ulcers. Research suggests that flavonoids in licorice have impressive antimicrobial activity against H pylori. The flavonoids have actually been shown to have antimicrobial activity against strains of H pylori that were resistant to clarithromycin and amoxicillin, two of the primary antibiotics used in triple therapy. Because DGL has low glyyrrhizin levels it is generally safe to take if you have high or low blood pressure, but please check with a physician.

3. Manuka Honey

Manuka honey comes from New Zealand. It is often promoted as a food that can kill H pylori. Whilst this may be the case, it is worth remembering that honey is essentially sugar. We know that Candida and other species of yeast thrive on sugar and we also know that there is a close relationship between H pylori infection and Candida overgrowth. For this reason, I do not recommend the use manuka honey for people who have digestive problems as I believe there are better alternatives. But you should not rule its use out as it may help you on an individual basis.

4. Mastic Gum

The protocol I originally learned in my functional medicine training involved the use of mastic gum and a supplement called Bio-HPF, which contains several herbs as well as bismuth. Interestingly, bismuth medications are recommended as part of quadruple therapy protocols alongside antibiotics. If you use bismuth products they can turn your stool darker and it is not recommended that you use bismuth for longer than 60-days.

Despite doctors and practitioners reporting great success using the mastic and Bio-HPF program, it didn’t work for me. My symptoms actually worsened when I started taking these supplements. Despite my poor reaction to the mastic program, there is quite a large body of research demonstrating its efficacy against H pylori and mastic gum has been shown to kill H pylori in vitro.

5. Matula Herbal Formula

Matula Herbal Formula resolved my symptoms very quickly. In fact I was staggered by the speed at which my symptoms eased using the product. I have had detailed discussions with the Matula staff and they have a very open and honest approach to business. I read the technical report on Matula that was put together by Professor Patrick J. D. Bouic of the Department of Medical Microbiology at Stellenbosch University in South Africa and whilst this is not strictly independent research, it makes for impressive reading In vitro testing on H pylori revealed that every time Matula came into contact with H pylori, it killed 93% of the organisms. Although these tests were performed in vitro (outside the body), the level of clinical success I have observed using Matula has confirmed its effectiveness.

You will doubtless read mixed reports about Matula on the Internet. Because it is a relatively expensive product, people are naturally disappointed if they do not feel better when they take it. But as I taught you in part one of this book and in the H Pylori Diet section, just taking a ‘miracle’ product, whether it’s a pill a tea or a potion, won’t work if your symptoms are being caused by the food that you eat, dehydration and other infections! Unfortunately some folk still believe that they can eat McDonalds three times a day and take a product like Matula that cures all their ills. I’d like to encourage you not to believe everything you read on the Internet, particularly if people have written the material in an emotionally charged state.

6. Siberian Pine Nut Oil

I personally do not have any experience of using pine nut oil. I have read mixed reports about it on the Internet and have received emails from people who have used it without any success. To date I have not seen any research that proves its efficacy. Nevertheless there are some positive testimonials on some websites. Recall that olive oil has been shown to contain antimicrobial properties against H pylori. It is certainly possible that pine nut oil contains similar properties that help it work against the bacteria.

7. Sulforaphane

Sulforaphane is a naturally occurring chemical found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage and brussels sprouts. A number of studies have demonstrated that it has the capacity to inhibit H pylori. Eating cruciferous vegetables, especially broccoli sprouts, will ensure that you get plenty of sulforaphane, but it is also available in capsule form from several supplement manufacturers, including a product called Broccomax and one called Onco-SGS.

8. Vitamin C

Some studies have suggested that vitamin C may inhibit and even kill H pylori. In a review of the literature, Dr. Alan Gaby, MD concludes that vitamin C therapy for H pylori may be clinically relevant, but that more research is needed to determine the optimal dosing and program duration. Even if vitamin C does not eradicate H pylori, it is still worth taking a controlled dose because studies clearly show that vitamin C levels in the stomach lining can be reduced when H pylori is present, largely as a result of the inflammatory and oxidative stress caused by the infection. Vitamin C is also an excellent nutrient for assisting with gut healing.

9. ‘Vitamin U’

Vitamin U – also known as MSM – is found in raw cabbage. In fact, vitamin U is not actually a vitamin at all. Cabbage juice has been studied extensively in Russia and other Eastern European countries for the healing of damaged and eroded intestinal mucosa. It is not actually a vitamin per se. It appears to enhance the healing of damaged tissue and may assist in healing ulcers.

10. Zinc-L-Carnosine

To my knowledge, zinc-l-carnosine has not been shown to have antimicrobial properties against H pylori. However it is excellent for repairing damage to the stomach lining, including ulcers. It can be taken alongside any of the antimicrobial agents to augment the healing process.

ONE SLIGHT PROBLEM

Whilst I’ve done my best to list the natural products that are scientifically and clinically shown to inhibit H pylori bacteria, you still have the problem of knowing exactly which products to buy.

Supplements are not all manufactured under the same conditions and you will find that one bottle of mastic gum from manufacturer A, may be a lot higher quality than a bottle of mastic gum from manufacturer B.

It’s also very important to know how much of each product to take each day, when to take it – with food or on an empty stomach – and for how long. All these factors will influence whether your natural program is successful or not.

Successful Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment for Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)

Excessive sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis, usually affects specific areas such as the armpits, palms, and soles of the feet. This condition is due to overactive sweat glands and is usually prevalent in both men and women. The idiopathic variety, in which there is no known cause, is usually bilateral, and present in affected individuals from their early teens. Secondary hyperhidrosis may present as unilateral sweating in one limb, and is usually due to trauma, neurological disorders, or metabolic disorders causing a dysfunction of the sympathetic nerves supplying specific areas of the body. Though not a serious medical condition, hyperhidrosis can be extremely distressing and socially embarrassing for affected individuals. About one in every three individuals is reportedly affected with this condition, though the severity of symptoms may vary considerably.

Conservative treatment for hyperhidrosis is usually in the form of local applications, medications, local injections, or surgery. Local antiperspirants usually form the first line of treatment in the management of this condition. Oral medications are not usually used since the benefit observed varies considerably. Local injections like Botulinum toxin bring about temporary relief for a few months and can be quite costly.

Thoracoscopic sympathetectomy is an established treatment in several countries and can bring about substantial relief from excessive sweating in the palms; however, surgical options have their own known side-effects. Laser ablation is used for treating excessive sweating from the armpits.

Overall, the current management of hyperhidrosis is therefore quite unsatisfactory. Ayurvedic herbal treatment can be judiciously used to completely control and treat hyperhidrosis in affected individuals. Medicines are given in the form of herbal extract tablets which can be taken orally, and are usually quite safe for long-term use. The aim of Ayurvedic treatment is to reduce stress, treat the overactive sweat glands, and also treat any known causes or associated causes of the condition. A majority of affected individuals usually have associated hyperacidity which needs to be treated along with hyperhidrosis.

Treatment is usually given for about six months; however, most individuals report improvement within the first month of treatment. Depending upon individual patient response, medicines are continued till a complete remission from symptoms is obtained. After this, medicines are gradually tapered over the next few months and then stopped altogether. This treatment has several advantages over conservative treatment in that the medicines are completely safe for long-term use and relapses are usually not seen.

Regular treatment with Ayurvedic herbal medicines usually modulates the overactive sweat glands so that affected individuals can cope with stressful situations with optimum comfort and carry on their day-to-day activities without any hindrance. While sweating is a normal and physiological action on the part of the body for heat and water regulation as well as for keeping the skin soft and smooth, the excessive sweating – which is an undesirable symptom – can be gradually phased out both on the physical and psychological levels in affected individuals. Ayurvedic herbal treatment can thus not only help cure the physical problem but also helps affected individuals improve quality of life as well as confidently move ahead in their professional carriers.

Sodium Chloride Impregnated Dressings (Mesalt)

There are few products designed to absorb large amounts of exudate from wounds. Mesalt, a gauze dressing permeated with crystalline sodium, is made specifically for such wounds. The following will enable you to learn more about these dressings and how to use them.

Product Overview

Mesalt uses a wicking action to draw fluid and debris out of wounds, while still maintaining a moist wound environment. Mesalt can be used on wounds that are infected and draining heavily. Its mechanism of action is to create a hypertonic wound environment, which decreases interstitial edema and allows for wound cleansing and the removal of slough as a result of moist necrosis.

Indications

  • Infected wounds
  • Wounds with moderate to heavy drainage (exudate)
  • Deep cavity wounds
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Surgical wounds

Contraindications

  • Not to be used on wounds that have light drainage, as it may dry out the wound excessively and stick to it

Advantages

  • Perpetuates a moist wound environment
  • Decreased potential for sticking to the wound
  • Easy to apply and remove
  • Conforms to any wound configuration (comes in pads and ribbon form)
  • Aids in bacterial balance, helping wounds to become more receptive to antimicrobials

Disadvantages

  • May need to be changed frequently if the wound is draining heavily
  • Requires a secondary dressing
  • May damage newly formed tissue if there is not enough moisture available in the wound bed
  • May be painful to some sensitive patients
  • May not be cost effective due to frequent need for dressing changes

Mesalt dressing are applied dry and removed when saturated. If a Mesalt dressing sticks to the wound, you should consider using a different type of dressing. Mesalt dressings should be discontinued when debridement of the wound is no longer required and new growth of granulation tissue in sufficient amount is present.

We sincerely hope that you are enjoying this series on different dressing types and how they are used. Do You Have These Panic Attack Symptoms?

A panic attack is a one of those things that literally grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. A sufferer can virtually find himself or herself running around in circles trying to “escape” the feeling of dread. However, that’s the extreme case. What about those times when you’re quite not sure what it is you’re suffering from? Not all panic symptoms hit you over the head with a sledge hammer.

So the question is, how can you tell if you’re having a panic? If you’re having any of the following symptoms, you just might be. One of the most common symptoms of a panic is a racing heart. It can almost feel like it’s trying to jump out of your body. If you put your hand to your chest, you can feel it pounding.

Another common symptom of panic attacks is feeling weak or dizzy. You may lose your balance or feel like you’re going to pass out. Of course these symptoms can also be caused by high blood pressure or even low blood sugar. That’s why it’s important to make note of all your symptoms and not just one or two.

You may also feel a tingling or numbing sensation in the fingers. However, and most people don’t know this, sinus problems can also cause the same sensation. If you’re prone to sinus problems or have allergies (see your allergist) that tingling sensation doesn’t have to be caused by panic.

A common symptom is a feeling of dread or death. At times this can almost feel like a premonition. I’m not suggesting that people having panic attacks can actually predict the future (that’s a topic for another time) but in their minds, the person having the attack is sure that something terrible is going to happen.

In addition to the above, you may also feel sweaty or might be having chills. Of course this could also be caused by having the flue or a severe cold. Again, you need to look at all the symptoms in order to make a proper self diagnosis.

A serious symptom is one of chest pains. The reason this is serious is because what may appear to be a panic attack could very well be the onset of a heart episode. If you are having chest pains, don’t guess. See a doctor immediately, especially if the pains worsen.

You may also have trouble breathing or feel like you are losing control of yourself. That sense of loss of control is usually when the panic attack begins to worsen. If you are having several of the above symptoms, it is quite possible that you’re having a panic attack. Once you’ve determined that much, the question is…what next?

Treating panic attacks, outside of traditional medicine which can have serious side effects, is your safest and best option. And yes, there are natural treatments for panic attacks. For more information on that subject, please see the link below.

In the meantime, please make a note of these symptoms any time that you feel that you’re having a panic attack. Proper diagnosis is the first step to finding a cure.

The Heart Un-Healthy Western Diet

“God sendeth and giveth both mouth and meat.” Thomas Tusser

“The beef industry has contributed to more American deaths than all the wars of this century, all natural disasters, and all automobile accidents combined. If beef is your idea of `real food for real people,’ you’d better live real close to a real good hospital.” Dr. Neal D. Bernard, MD

The ‘Western’ Diet is a ‘meat-sweet’ diet. This diet is high in red and processed meats, sweets, fried foods, refined grains, and desserts. And after almost a century, it has finally become clear that this diet has become a serious threat to our health.

Obesity is primarily related to excessive caloric intake. The meat-sweet diet of USA has resulted in sixty-five percent of adults aged 20 y being either overweight or obese. Unfortunately, the numbers are increasing and the estimated number of deaths ascribable to obesity growing. The western diet is strongly associated with cardiovascular disease, hypertension, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and cancer. Cardiovascular disease is the cause of 38.5% of all deaths in the US. Almost 65 million Americans suffer from cardiovascular disease. The second leading cause of death is cancer in the US. It is estimated that one third of all cancers (25% of all deaths ) are related to diet and obesity. Other chronic diseases strongly related to and influenced by the western diet are hypertension (50 million Americans), diabetes (11 million), elevated cholesterol (37 million) and osteoporosis (7.2 million) and osteopenia (39.6 million). Hip fractures greatly increase the mortality, and osteoporosis plays a major role in this disease.

Indications of the dangerous nature of the western diet started emerging almost a century ago. In 1916, Dutch physician De Langen published a study of showing the higher cholesterol levels of Dutch immigrants as those of the native Javanese. This almost double cholesterol level was associated with metabolic diseases such as atherosclerosis, diabetes, obesity, and nephritis. In 1950’s, Keys and coworkers found that cholesterol levels and coronary heart disease mortality rates were high in United States and Finland, while being low in Japan and southern Europe. They attributed this to the substantial differences in the dietary patterns – an early indication that the ‘Western” diet was heart unhealthy.

In 1958 a major scientific study called the Seven Countries Study, involving 12,763 men between the ages of 40 to 59 years began. These countries were the United States, Finland, the Netherlands, Italy, Greece, the former Yugoslavia, and Japan. Over a period of 25 years, about 6000 men died, of which 1500 men died of coronary heart disease. Populations with the highest consumption of animal food groups, with the exception of fish, had a much higher 25-year coronary heart disease mortality rates, when compared to populations with the highest vegetable, grains, fish and wine consumption. During the start of the study, the consumption of milk, potatoes, butter, and sugar products was very high in Finland. Netherlands had a similar but lower consumption pattern. Meat, pastry and fruit consumption (meat-sweet diet) was high in the United States. The Italians ate a lot of cereal and drank moderate amounts of wine while bread consumption was high in the former Yugoslavia. Greeks consumed high amounts of olive oil and fruit, while the Japanese were fond of fish, rice, and soy products. Heart attacks… God’s revenge for eating his little animal friends. -Author Unknown

How did the western diet emerge? The Western diet developed gradually over the last 200 years and was mainly a result of industrialization. In the prehistoric times, milk intake was limited to mother’s milk as it was impossible to milk wild animals. “The human body has no more need for cows’ milk than it does for dogs’ milk, horses’ milk, or giraffes’ milk.” -Michael Klaper, MD, author of Vegan Nutrition: Pure & Simple. With domestication of cows and other animals and subsequent ability for refrigeration, a whole host of dairy products became a staple of the western diet. The mechanized steel roller mills and automated sifting devices of today remove most of the germ and bran of the cereal grains, leaving mainly the endosperm as flour. The recent production of high fructose corn syrup greatly increased refined sugar consumption. Industrialization also produced more atpical vegetable oils for consumption that are high in trans fatty acids, as is seen in margarine and shortening. Salt intake is very high in the United States. Unfortunately 90% of the salt in the typical US diet comes from manufactured salt that is added to the food supply, and not from salt added while cooking or from the table.

“Meat, which contains cholesterol and saturated fat, was never intended for human beings, who are natural herbivores.”William C. Roberts, M.D. and Editor in Chief, American Journal of Cardiology, vol. 66, October 1, 1990. Unlike meat from wild animals or pasture raised cattle, 99% of all the beef consumed in the United States is high in the unhealthy saturated fatty acids and n-6 fatty acids and low in the beneficial n-3 fatty acids. This meat is mainly produced from grain-fed, feedlot cattle. “The beef industry has contributed to more American deaths than all the wars of this century, all natural disasters, and all automobile accidents combined. If beef is your idea of `real food for real people,’ you’d better live real close to a real good hospital.” -Neal D. Barnard, M.D.

The western diet is also deficient in micronutrients (At least half the US population fails to meet the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for vitamin B-6, vitamin A, magnesium, calcium, and zinc, and 33% of the population does not meet the RDA for folate), is conducive to an acidic body status (fish, meat, poultry, eggs, shellfish, cheese, milk, and cereal grains are net acid producing, whereas fresh fruit, vegetables, tubers, roots, and nuts are net base producing.), has less potassium (Industrial periods caused a 400% decline in the potassium intake while simultaneously initiating a 400% increase in sodium ingestion ) and fiber (refined sugars, vegetable oils, dairy products, and alcohol, are all devoid of fiber. Refined grains contain about 400% less fiber when compared to whole grains, and the former represent 85% of the grains consumed in the United States). These are all detrimental to the health, especially cardiac health. Because normally with Western cuisine, you’ll serve vegetables separate from the meat, so kids will eat the meat and never touch the vegetables. Martin Yan. Vegetables and fruits are mainly side dishes or desserts in the Western Diet.

More die in the United States of too much food than of too little. -John Kenneth Galbraith, The Affluent Society. The western diet has also become an excessive calorie diet, resulting in the obesity epidemic in the western world, with all its health consequences. Americans eat 3,770 calories a day, and have the highest per capita daily consumption in the world. This is more than a Canadian at 3,590 calories or an Indian at 2,440, according to data from the UN Food and Agricultural Organization. Unfortunately switching to diet sodas does not help – a recent report has shown the diet soda drinkers may be more prone to the dangerous metabolic syndrome.

When combined with inactivity and smoking, the western diet has become lethal. So cut down on red meat, especially beef and change to a prudent heart healthy diet. So, as an old English Proverb warns: don’t dig your grave with your own knife and fork.

Thailand Check-In – Important Checklist You Need to Know Before Departing to Thailand

A Thailand checklist is a guide for any travelers to prepare themselves before landing in Thailand, the land of smiles.

Getting There

There are several ways to arrive to this country depending on where you come from.

By air: The main airport of Thailand is in Bangkok called Suvarnabhumi International Airport. However, there are many other airports in every region around Thailand in order for travelers to connect to all parts of the country such as in Chiang Mai, Phuket, Koh Samui and Krabi. A little trick is that as there is a high competition in domestic flight market, travelers should compare the air fares from more than one source before booking. Also, be careful with the initial price offered as there could be a large amount of extra taxes and surcharges applied in the further booking steps. So, make sure, you continue the booking process until the final total price is shown. The popular airlines for domestic flights are Thailand Airways, Bangkok Air, Bangkok Airways, Nok Air and Air Asia.

By train: If tourists travel from Malaysia, a train is another option to enter Thailand. Moreover, as the railway connects to every part of the country, if tourists do not mind spending a little more time on transportation, this is another option to travel around the country and enjoy scenery of Thailand.

By ship: This way is becoming more popular nowadays. There is the cruise line heading to South East Asia route, including visiting Thailand. The recommended 5-star service cruise is Costa Cruises.

Checklist before Thailand check in

1. Seek for some basic information

After choosing the transportation to enter the country, learning some basic information is always a wise idea to do before your arrival. Tourism Authority of Thailand or TAT is always a trusted and valuable source to seek for any information about the country. The main channel to connect to TAT is through its website. In addition, even when you have arrived to the country there are many branches of TAT around Thailand to serve tourists, starting from the one at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

2. Vaccinations preparation

In term of health preparation, vaccinations for hepatitis A and B, polio, rabies, typhoid and tuberculosis are advised but not necessary. If you plan to get into jungles around the border areas (connected to Cambodia, Burma and Lao), Malaria vaccination is also recommended.

3. Entry document check for Thailand Check in

For Visa, the regulations for visa can be changed without notice so when planning to visit Thailand, make sure to re-check with the Thai embassy before departing. For passport, it must be valid for at least six months from the date you arrive Thailand.

4. Prepare some money and know its currency

About currency, currency used in Thailand is Thai Baht. Its money includes both coins and notes, starting from “satang” coins, 100 satangs equal to 1 baht, 1 baht, 2 baht, 5 baht and 10 baht coins. For bank notes are 1,000 baht, 500 baht, 100 baht, 50 baht and 20 baht notes. One recommendation is that do not keep the large-denomination bank notes such as 1,000 or 500 notes or try change them to the smaller ones as street vendors or taxis don’t usually have large amount of changes. Exchange counters are also scattered around the country especially in tourist places. It is highly recommended to exchange your money at these bank counters rather than at hotels as the rate from the latter one would be more expensive. Besides cash, it is also a wise idea to bring cards with you as ATM machines are widely available everywhere around Thailand. Credit card is also accepted in many places however make sure you keep an eye on who handling your cards to avoid any cheating practices such as copying your card codes.

5. Clothes to match with the climate

The usual weather in Thailand is hot. There is a Thai joke that Thailand has 3 seasons: hot, hotter and hottest. As a result, clothes to be used in this country should be something light with short sleeves. However, trousers or a long skirt are something you should also bring at least one as some tourist attractions such as temples will not allow people with shorts or singlet to get in. Some winter clothes may be needed only if you plan to go up the hills in the northern part or north eastern part of the country during winter time, otherwise, they will be quite useless for your trip. To make sure with this, it is highly recommend travelers to check the weather forecast again before their departure.

6. Baggage check

To make your Thailand check in smoother, check the allowance of your baggage properly and make sure your bags are not overloaded. The baggage allowance is up to the airline policy so check this in your booking that issued by the airline.

After all the lists have been checked, you will be quite ready for checking in to Thailand. The final suggestion is that always find the promotional prices in advance for any services you are going to use in Thailand such as accommodations, transportation, limousines, spas or other activities. Many services are often offered great deals for advance booking.

The Advantages of Using Construction Equipment Leasing for Growth

The construction industry is a massive industry throughout many countries in the world. Since the beginning of the new century there has been an exponential growth pattern in most of the economically strong nations in the world. North American, Western Europe, Asia and Australia are examples of countries where construction is always happening whether it be new infrastructure or refurbishing old infrastructure. Many of the larger cities have to carefully plan the location and types of new infrastructure that are being constructed and consider construction equipment leasing as part of the overall strategy for fueling that growth.

Germany is an example of a country that has experienced extremely high infrastructure growth rates in the last 10 or 15 years. The USA is another place where cities populations and therefore volumes are always expanding. This provides work for many different construction companies and their machines. Construction is an area where you always need relatively new and safe machines for health and safety purposes. An accident on the construction site cause by faults or out of date machinery is the last thing companies want today. This can prove to be very expensive for the company, while not forgetting that people can also get very seriously injured. This is where the idea of leasing construction equipment comes into its own.

For the construction industry people and business lease a huge amount of different tools, equipment and machines. For instance, loaders, tractors, all types of fork lifts, all types of road construction machines including bulldozers, scrapers, rollers, tip trucks, graders, paver machines and other smaller machines. By leasing these machines rather than buying them outright companies don’t have to make such big capital payments. This is advantageous in that the company is also always turning over machinery and there might not be a machine older than 2 or 3 years old on a construction site. This situation is ideal which maximizes productivity and it can also give companies tax advantages in some countries.

Construction equipment leasing is essential in the construction sector. It provides opportunities of rapid growth. It is one of the few ways that you can really make a good profit from owning construction machinery. In the current economic climate, we have to be clever when it comes to running a business or making money. It is many peoples dream to operate a business with construction equipment and have it viable. With leasing this equipment it reduces costs and gives you also a safeguard against major breakdowns. Leasing can be done with almost any kind of equipment type and here it applies to this use very well.

We all know how difficult it can be to make a living since the global financial crisis. Leasing construction equipment gives small and large business a chance to keep running and make a good living. This in turn allows society to keep expanding to keep up with the rapid world population explosion. Leasing is a very good idea and a good way to keep your business profitable by having good machines working for you.

Antibiotics Make You Susceptible to Skin Cancer

Do you know Some antibiotics can lead to a higher sun sensitivity of the skin and thus may lead to increased skin cancer risk?

Antibiotics make you susceptible to skin cancer

Most people believe that the sun is THE risk factor for the development of skin cancer.Hardly anyone is considering that there could perhaps be quite different causes.Antibiotics, for example, make the skin to sunlight only really sensitive and thus increase the risk of skin cancer considerably.

The skin protects itself

The human skin is not defenseless against the sun. Different body’s protective mechanisms to preserve them from sunburn, from the negative effects of UV radiation and thus against malignant skin cancers. The protein p53, for example, among all the body’s own sun protection mechanisms a real key role.

The cancer-protective police body

p53 not only protects the skin from the sun and consequently against skin cancer. p53 belongs to a type of cancer-protective police, who are in the whole body care that there are no cancerous changes. Thus one can degenerate into cells – no matter where they are located in the body – extremely high p53 levels observed, whereas in normal cells as well as no p53 proteins are present. What does p53 in transformed cells? It ensures that the damaged DNA regions * be repaired. If it turns out that the damage is irreparable, p53 causes the death of the diseased cell to prevent in this way that it evolved from a tumor. Thus p53 is a tumor-type brakes.

* = Genetic information of DNA in the nucleus

Cancer occurs only when the body’s own cancer protection is blocked

If, however, p53 is blocked in some way, then multiply the cells degenerate and it leads to tumor formation. Furthermore, defects in the p53 protein leading to enhanced photocarcinogenesis – this is the development of skin cancer due to sun exposure.

Antibiotics block the body’s own sun protection

However, p53 is not immortal. It is sensitive to cigarette smoke, X-rays, mold toxins, and drugs such as antibiotics or on some very general on chemotherapy. Under the influence of these confounding factors leads to defects in the p53 molecule that now protect its ability, the skin against the sun and the body from cancer, lose.

Several antibiotics are prescribed for many different complaints, not only in p53 inhibit its activity, but also other endogenous protective mechanisms against UV radiation. These include antibiotics such as those of the fluoroquinolone class, such as levofloxacin or ciprofloxacin. The applications for these products are pneumonia, urinary tract infections, bacterial infections and many other intestinal infections.

Fluoroquinolones should really only be prescribed when it comes to combat pathogens that have compared the standard antibiotics already developed resistance. This planned economical use of fluoroquinolones had at least two reasons: should the one hand, the fact remains certain that in an emergency nor an effective means is available, and it wanted to the patient – avoid the serious side effects of this class of antibiotics – as long as possible.

Manufacturers advertise risky antibiotics

However, since the fluoroquinolone manufacturers make every effort to establish fluoroquinolones by heavy advertising in the therapist as antibiotics of choice in the outpatient practice, they are far more common than originally intended use. The result: further development of resistance in dangerous pathogens, and patients who are threatened by taking severe side effects.

Withdrawals of six antibiotics

Fluoroquinolone antibiotics are known to damage the heart and the liver to promote tendon tears, trigger allergies and cause psychosis, which can bring the patient suicidal desires. Particularly because of their toxicity for the heart and liver were in Germany for six (in the U.S. nine) fluoroquinolone antibiotics – usually later, shortly after being admitted and few deaths and liver transplants – taken off the market.

It pays to read the information leaflet

In the United States was the reason for four withdrawals, the phototoxicity of antibiotics, which turned out until AFTER the drug was approved and the patient had suffered severe skin damage. This does not mean that the remaining fluoroquinolones were not phototoxic. It simply means that the currently approved drugs carry a warning in their package inserts. It says that one should avoid the sun during the therapy. Who does not read the paper and on a sunny day for a walk happy, but unfortunate.

And standard antibiotics increase the photosensitivity of the skin

Therefore would be the best solution – as you might think – still the standard antibiotics such as doxycycline or amoxicillin use, on the (at least not life-threatening) side effects such as diarrhea, destruction of intestinal flora, fungal infections, to “enjoy” etc., and fluoroquinolones really only be used in an emergency. Unfortunately, however, is just doxycycline – one of the most commonly prescribed antibiotics – also to those drugs that block the body’s protective mechanisms against UV radiation and hence promote skin cancer.

Antibiotics as maintenance therapy for acne?

Doxycycline is often used in long-term treatment of Lyme disease or acne. This means that the patient in question take away this antibiotic over MONTHS. Patients with acne, it is furthermore mostly young people. Apart from the fact that they have to do better in general than to study the package insert of a medication that raises the question whether they should now actually reside for months or even years in the house? Or may be masked only venture into the open? After all, for example, advises the technicians health insurance on their website, they should (avoid apart from the usual activities such as reading the leaflet, Sun 11 to 15 clock, etc.) to prevent phototoxic reactions caused by drugs, but please nice films UV-opaque to the windows of the house and car mount, to indemnify to survive a long-term therapy.

Sun phobia brings vitamin D deficiency

What is the consequence of such forced medication sunlight phobia? Although the patient remained – if they are to keep the advice – from acute skin damage caused by direct sunlight spared, but suffered (for long-term therapy), sooner or later in a chronic and serious vitamin D deficiency.

Vitamin D is normally produced by sunlight affect the human body itself, while the diet to the vitamin D status contributes only a negligible part. A vitamin D deficiency is therefore inevitable when people (have) become couch potatoes. A low vitamin D levels, however, is in turn associated with a variety of diseases. These include osteoporosis, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, autoimmune diseases and cancer.

WHO recommends antibiotics for the prevention

Antibiotic therapy provides the patient that is in an almost hopeless conflict. On the one hand, he must avoid the sun, on the other hand, can cause very serious illnesses, the lack of sunlight. Under this aspect, it is impossible to understand how it came to the WHO recommendation to use doxycycline for malaria prophylaxis. In other words, the WHO recommends that people wishing to travel to certain regions of the tropics, taking doxycycline preventively against malaria. For this purpose, one should take one tablet daily, starting one week before they leave, then the whole vacation away and another four weeks if you’re back at home. Unfortunately, the WHO did not bother to explain how it should be possible during a vacation in the sunny tropics quite well known, but to avoid the sun because of the long-term use of doxycycline.

What really causes skin cancer?

With today’s widespread long-term use phototoxic or photocarcinogenic effective medications for chronic, not acutely life-threatening disease is the vehement question, whether the years steadily growing number of skin cancer cases are not much more with these drugs together is as that of all sides pesky sun.

Breaking new ground

Especially with chronic diseases should take into account that there are quite well off the conventional medical therapies paths. These are therapies that – activate the self-protection and self-healing mechanisms of the body and not weaken it as – in contrast to the above-mentioned drugs. Antibiotics are unavoidable, while one should be particularly nutrient-rich diet and basenüberschüssige be practiced in order to assist the body in this way at least positive. Following the antibiotic therapy can also be taken actions that serve to detoxify, leading to the restoration of intestinal flora and build and strengthen the people in general again.

Mononucleosis and EPO – Is There a Connection?

With all this fuss about the use of EPO in cycling in recent years and how laboratorial inject able EPO was practically undetectable until very recently (2003), plus how the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) and other Anti-Doping labs worldwide are suspicious that athletes are freely using performance enhancing drugs namely EPO; some officials are starting to openly vent their frustrations with the shortcomings (underfunding) of the aforementioned agencies.

With recent reports of several athletes contracting mononucleosis, I became curious and I decided to make a search on the internet to see if there was a possibility of a connection between EPO and mononucleosis and I found this startling report (excerpt below).

Author: Paul Schick, MD, Emeritus Professor, Department of Internal Medicine, Thomas Jefferson University Medical College; Research Professor, Department of Internal Medicine, Drexel University College of Medicine:

“Pure Red Cell Aplasia

  • Respiratory infections, gastroenteritis, primary atypical pneumonia, infectious mononucleosis, mumps, and viral hepatitis may trigger pure red cell aplasia.
  • Importantly, note that EPO-related appears to be a rare complication when one considers that approximately 3 million patients are treated with EPO worldwide. Nevertheless, maintain awareness of the possibility of this complication. In 2002, Casadevall et al recommended that patients receiving EPO should be tested for neutralizing anti-EPO antibodies as soon as possible after the onset of an unexplained anemia.
  • Darbepoetin alfa (Aranesp) has recently been introduced and has a different carbohydrate structure than endogenous EPO. Patients receiving this agent should be monitored closely.
  • Obviously, the administration of EPO for athletic performance should be avoided. ” http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic1967.htm

“- Medical side effects

EPO commonly “thickens” blood which causes additional circulatory strain as well as damming (clotting) in smaller blood vessels. EPO use is dangerous as it stresses elements in the circulation and quite often is sufficient to precipitate systemic failures that otherwise would function normally under natural levels of stress.”

http://coachsci.sdsu.edu/csa/vol56/fourdrug.htm

“What are the side-effects of EPO misuse?

· While proper use of EPO has an enormous therapeutic benefit in the treatment of anaemia related to cancer or kidney disease, its misuse can lead to serious health risks for athletes who use this substance simply to gain a competitive edge. It is well known that EPO, by thickening the blood, leads to an increased risk of several deadly diseases, such as heart disease, stroke, and cerebral or pulmonary embolism. The misuse of recombinant human EPO may also lead to autoimmune diseases with serious health consequences.”

http://www.wada-ama.org/en/dynamic.ch2?pageCategory.id=626

Does this mean, if you have mononucleosis that you have used EPO? No, it could be viral, but if you are an athlete, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) and other Anti-Doping labs worldwide will have their red flags waving for months!

With this information, I became concerned, because if there are any tennis players out there, champions, champions to be or not champions, before they even think about using EPO, they should be aware of the consequences.

Why risk your life for a medal, a cup or a few dollars more? Players and athletes, just say NO and stay away from EPO! Your health and your life is more important to all of us then if you win.

Yours truly

Sergio Cruz
