Heartburn Can Be Easily Cured

Do you suffer from heartburn, reflux or burping? Perhaps you rely on a medicine to help settle your tummy. I have written on digestive disorders on several occasions previously, but this time I would like to write specifically on a little bacterium called Helicobacter pylori. Helicobacter pylori bacterial infection is recognised as the most prevalent bacteria to infect the human population in the entire world. You may well identify the following problem, and if you do, don’t despair. It actually is possible to free from heartburn, reflux or a low grade queasiness, which affects so many people.

Helicobacter is a clever little bug

In 1982, when Australian Dr. Barry Marshall identified a new bacterium called Helicobacter pylori (HP) as an infectious agent responsible for peptic ulcer disease, it completely transformed medicine’s understanding of the microbiology and disease of the human stomach. Your stomach is protected from its own gastric juice by a thick layer of mucous that covers the stomach lining. HP takes advantage of this protection by actually living in the mucous lining. Once this clever little bug is safe in this mucous, it is able to fight the stomach acid that does reach it with an enzyme it possesses called urease. Urease converts urea, of which there is an abundant supply in the stomach (from saliva and gastric juices), into bicarbonate and ammonia, which are strong (alkaline) bases. This creates a cloud of acid-neutralizing chemicals around the H. pylori, protecting it from the acid in the stomach. This cloud is also part of the reflux and burping process that occurs, which many HP people complain of.

Contributing to the protection of HP is the fact that the body’s natural defenses cannot reach these bugs in this mucous lining of the stomach. The immune system will respond to an HP infection by sending “killer T-cells”, (white blood cells), and other infection-fighting agents. However, these potential H. pylori eradicators cannot reach the infection, because they cannot easily get through stomach lining. They do not go away – the immune response just grows and grows over time. White cells die and spill their destructive compounds onto cells lining the stomach lining. More nutrients are sent to reinforce the white cells, and the H. pylori can feed on this. Within a few days, gastritis and perhaps eventually a peptic ulcer results in the lining of your tummy. And of course, the person who suffers is often blissfully unaware, takes an antacid or an acid-blocking drug long-term, and continues to eat and drink foods which only aggravate the healing process long term. So they go back to the doctor, only to be told to stay on the medicine. After a few years, the person resigns themselves to the fact that they will always require this “medicine” to cure their condition. Yeah right, and Alice lived happily after in Wonderland.

To confirm that HP caused the gastritis and peptic ulceration, Marshall swallowed cultures of the bacteria and contracted gastritis (inflammation of the mucus membrane of the stomach). He then underwent endoscopy (internal examination of the stomach), and provided biopsies from which the suspected bug was re-isolated.

Changing medical belief and practice takes time. For nearly 100 years, scientists and doctors thought that ulcers were caused by lots of stress, spicy foods, and copious alcohol. Treatment involved bed rest and a bland and boring diet. Later, researchers added stomach acid to the list of causes and began treating ulcers with antacids when they became fashionable.Unfortunate for poor Barry, nobody believed him. In fact, he was actually treated with ridicule and disdain when he first proposed the idea that a bacteria actually lived the hostile environment of the stomach. Before 1982, the accepted medical paradigm was “no acid, no ulcer”, and that stomach ulcers only occurred when excess acid damaged the stomach wall and that all treatment should be aimed at reducing or neutralising all that bad acid. Surely you remember the advertisements on TV with the man drawing on his tummy with a felt tipped pen, telling you that the acid has to “stay down there”. These commercials generally came on after dinner, the time when your tummy is most likely to play up, I can’t help but thinking how many of those sufferers possibly have an undetected H.pylori infection. There is still a lot of drug promotion regarding this acid reflux problem. Unfortunately, many such patients today are still seen as having “too much stomach acid”, and treated with antacids or stomach-acid blockers as front-line therapy, when in my clinical experience actually the opposite applies, they don’t have enough or have an infection which needs sorting. Gastric juice is composed of digestive enzymes and concentrated hydrochloric acid, which can readily digest food or kill microorganisms. Low levels of stomach acid increase the chance an organism’s survival. It used to be thought that the stomach contained no bacteria and was actually sterile, and it took an Aussie GP to prove all the world’s experts wrong.

It seems pretty silly to treat the acid problem perpetually, without enquiring into actually why this burping, reflux and upper abdominal discomfort is occurring in the first place. Albert Szent Györgyi, (1937 Nobel Laureate in Physiology and Medicine) said that: “Discovery consists of seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody has thought.” Today it is an established fact that most cases of peptic ulcers and gastritis, diseases that affect millions of humans worldwide, result from this HP infection, and not “too much acid” in the stomach at all.

“Discovery consists of seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody has thought.” Albert Szent Györgyi

HP infection and prevalence

H. pylori is believed to be transmitted orally. Did you wash your hands? Many researchers believe that HP is transmitted orally by means of fecal matter through the ingestion of tainted food or water. In addition, it is possible that H. pylori could be transmitted from the stomach to the mouth through gastro-esophageal reflux or belching, all common symptoms of gastritis. The bacterium could then be transmitted through oral contact.

HP infection remains a huge problem, is extremely common and infecting more than a billion people worldwide. It is estimated that half of the American population older than age 60 has been infected with H. pylori at some stage and the economic effect of ulcer disease in the US (as measured back in a study of 1989 data) showed that the illness cost then nearly $6 billion annually. ($2.66 billion for hospitalisation, not including doctor ‘s fees), outpatient care ($1.62 billion), and loss in work productivity ($1.37 billion).

One in five Aussies and Kiwis have HP, according to Dr. Barry Marshal, infection usually persists for many years, leading to ulcer disease in 10 % to 15% of those infected. H. pylori is found in more than 80% of patients with gastric and duodenal ulcers. You can imagine what this common complaint in NZ and Australia is costing, in terms of medication, doctor’s visits and lost productivity at work. Early research on HP characterised much of the work to come, the data that emerged from the study of all these samples was quite unexpected. It showed that HP is actually a common bacterial agent and that an amazing 30-50% of the world’s population are colonised with it.

How do you know if you have the HP bug?

The infection manifests differently in different individuals. In some people, it produces more acid in the stomach, and ulcers may result. In others, stomach acid suppression or complete lack (which we call achlorhydria) may result, and these people may be at a greater risk of gastric cancer. It is unclear why some people respond one way or the other.

Typical manifestations of a Helicobacter pylori infection:

· Nausea, or a low-grade feeling of being queasy. Could be vomiting.

· Avoidance of chilli, garlic or a specific food which “does not agree” with your tummy.

· Bloating worse after meals. Feeling worse after meals or certain foods.

· Recurring abdominal pain, intestinal cramps.

· Peptic or duodenal ulcers (over 90% of all cases have HP)

· Burping, this can be pretty bad. The person may have developed a reputation!

· Heartburn, and perhaps reliant on Quick-Eze or Gavascon, Losec, etc.

· Diarrhea or constipation after several years of infection.

· Disturbed sleep, perhaps waking up with a hollow feeling or heartburn. I have known some patients to prop up the head of the bed with a few bricks even.

· Symptoms worse at night, or worse lying down.

· Vitamin B12 deficiency. Have your practitioner test for this, you may well be deficient.

· Altered appetite, some times you may feel like eating, other times you don’t.

· After being infected for several years, you may have develop mineral deficiencies which can lead to a myriad of health problems.

· Helicobacter pylori is implicated in Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.

· Migraine headaches (40% of migraine sufferers are positive, and eradication subsides the headaches).

· Acne rosacea. Helicobacter pylori is suspected of causing rosacea (eradication of HP often results in a significant reduction in rosacea symptoms).

Is it any wonder how an ailing stomach is supposed to do its job, i.e., digesting and absorbing foods efficiently when a bacterial infection is causing such dysfunction? Your doctor may have initially prescribed a medicine such as Losec, Gavascon or Mylanta for your stomach, serving to block acid or dilute it. How is your tummy supposed to work at all now? Then you go back and complain that the symptoms are unchanged. What then? You can see what I mean, after many years of this infection you can feel quite unwell. I see one person or more each week like this, and have done so for many years. When I wrote an article to our local newspaper several years ago regarding HP, I received nearly ten calls. And almost al these patients had a HP infection, all were on either Losec, Quick-Eze, Gavascon or Mylanta.

Conventional HP Therapy

Please note that it is extremely important to obtain an accurate diagnosis before trying to find a cure of your heartburn or reflux. Many stomach or digestive diseases and conditions share common symptoms: if you treat yourself for the wrong illness or a specific symptom of a complex disease, you may delay legitimate treatment of a serious underlying problem, yes even stomach cancer. In other words, the greatest danger in self-treatment may actually be self-diagnosis. Always work with your health-care professional, preferably one who is experienced in gastrointestinal disorders. If you do not know what you really have, you simply can not treat it!

I have always had a great concern regarding the extensive use of antibiotic drugs required to treat HP infected individuals. The conventional medical clearing of HP from the stomach requires therapy from 10 to 14 days with multiple drugs. My concern is that prolonged or recurrent antibiotic treatment alters the normal microbial population of the entire gastrointestinal tract, eliminating many beneficial bacteria as well as HP, allowing the sufferer to develop a gut environment which may contain bugs like Candida albicans, proteus, or a whole host of other undesirables. You get rid of one problem, only to create yet another.

Triple Therapy

The use of only one medication to treatH. pylori was never recommended by Dr. Marshall. At this time, the most conventional treatment is a 2-week course of treatment called “triple therapy”. It involves taking two antibiotics to kill the bacteria and either an acid suppressor or stomach-lining shielding drug. Two-week triple therapy reduces ulcer symptoms, kills the bacteria, and prevents ulcer recurrence in many patients – but the recurrence can be as high as 75%. Complete eradication is difficult, I have had many patients who have come to me after having had triple therapy many years ago with average to poor results, and were placed on an acid blocker for many years after.I do recommend this for some resistant cases, and have been know to send some patients to a GP for triple therapy, then follow-up with natural treatment for 6 weeks. I have found that some patients may find triple therapy complicated because it involves taking 3 kinds of drugs, and as many as 20 pills a day. Also, the antibiotics and bismuth drugs used in triple therapy may cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dark stools, metallic taste in the mouth, dizziness, headache, and yeast infections, particularly in women.

HP Testing

The diagnosis of H. pylori infection has traditionally involved endoscopy with biopsies of the stomach’s mucosa. There are three ways to test for HP currently in NZ. To be honest, I only occasionally authorise a HP test these days, and generally have a “gut feeling” a person has this bug once they come into my room and complain of the above mentioned symptoms. Common sense – the patient will soon tell you if they are or are not improving, and it only takes about three to four weeks to really know what is going on. Just because the test results come back negative, you could still have this bug. You know me by now, please don’t get paralysis from analysis! If you feel significantly better after a HP treatment whether it be pharmaceutical or natural – you probably have HP regardless of what the test results say. Remember – up to one in five New Zealanders have this infection, so the odds are reasonably high you have it.

· The Urea Breath Test method of diagnosis relies on the Urea reaction being present, as mentioned earlier. This is a sound test – 90 – 95% successful in picking up the HP bug.

· Blood tests measuring HP antibody levels have been developed. However, these tests have suboptimal sensitivity and specificity (85% and 79%).

· Stool tests for antibodies – again, many factors can affect the outcome of this test, stay with breath testing. Many experts say that the fecal antigen test is bullet proof, but in my experience I have seen many “false negatives” with testing. That is, the results come back all ok, but the patient responds dramatically after HP treatment.

Natural HP Eradication

No clear indications exist for specific treatment of each and every individual case of HP associated gastritis. I have found the following treatments to be effective, and employed many different therapies over the years. Here are some treatments which I have found to work in various HP cases. Remember, recurrence rates are quite high, so you may want to persist with treatment until you feel much better, then hang in there for a few more months (lower grade treatment) to be absolutely sure. I recommend treatment in blocks of 6 weeks, then wait 2 -3 weeks, then another 6 week period of treatment. A good clinical tip for you: always treat this infection by taking something with meals, and also something in-between, or away from foods. This is designed to really drive the “kill” treatment home, and lets the treatment have access to the HP bugs in the gut with as well as away to some extent from foods and gastric juice involvement. I have a saying in my clinic: persistence breaks resistance. Remember Winston Churchill? – never give in, never give in, never give in.

· Manuka honey, which has high levels of hydrogen peroxide and has been shown in studies to be active against H. pylori. Go for the Comvita high UMF factor Manuka honey.

· Propolis works really well for some, but is dismal for others.

· Vitamin B12 – get this checked in your blood! You may well be deficient here.

· After antibiotic treatment is finished, (triple therapy) it makes sense to rebuild the gut flora with lactobacillus species. They won’t cure the condition, however. (A 2002 trial demonstrated that a mixed acidophilus preparation failed to eradicate the H. pylori infection in the patients upon whom it was tried).

· DGL (deglycyrrhizinated licorice) – you can get this in capsules or liquid.

· Aloe Vera helps to heal the mucous lining of the gastrointestinal tract.

· Berberine is found in the herb Goldenseal, and it may be used as a natural herbal antibiotic.

· Eat grapefruit seeds, for some this is very effective long term. The extract is even better.

· Digestive enzymes may also be useful – especially with achlorhydria (low stomach acid)

· Gum mastic is a natural substance from the sap of the Mediterranean evergreen tree, Pistacia lemniscuses. Mastic gum has been shown to be effective in protecting the digestive system, healing peptic and duodenal ulcers, and eradicating H. pylori from the gut. I use this a lot, and give two capsules twice daily in between meals.

· Bismuth. It displays anti-inflammatory action (due to salicylic acid) and also acts as an antacid and mild antibiotic. Don’t freak out – It can also cause a black tongue and black stools in some people who take it, when it combines with trace amounts of sulfur in their saliva and gastrointestinal tract. This discoloration is temporary and absolutely harmless.

My favourite HP treatment regime? I would have to say gum mastica between meals, and with meals a preparation of Bismuth, deglycyrrhizinated licorice, grapefruit seed extract and goldenseal. I often recommend aloe vera and activated charcoal as well.

Do you get that annoying heartburn, and want to try and find a cause and ultimately a cure? Consult your naturopath or nutritional-friendly doctor who can check you out carefully and thoroughly and who will actually treat the cause, not the symptom. They should generally recommend a course of treatment and a specific diet designed for the individual, with promising results for many patients. And what a relief, to be free of heartburn, bloating and that “awful feeling in the tummy” again!

Ayurveda Home Remedies For IBS

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a blanket term for a variety of diseases, causing discomfort in the gastro-intestinal tract. It’s a disorder in which the intestines don’t function properly, also commonly referred to as “functional bowel” or “spastic colon.” It is characterized by chronic abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating, and alteration of bowel habits in the absence of any organic cause.

In Ayurveda there is no specific term to describe IBS but can correlate to the classical references of Grahani disease. According to Ayurveda IBS is caused due to improper digestion and stress in life and is categorized under Grahani, as Grahani resembles most of the IBS symptoms. Grahani is the seat of Agni and is called so because of holding up the food. Normally, it holds up the food (till it is digested) and releases it from the side after it is digested. But when it is deranged due to weak digestive fire it releases the ingested material even in unripe condition.

In other words, IBS occurs due to an imbalance in one or more of the 3 doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) due to poor nutrition, poor digestion and imbalance of the nervous system, accumulation of physical and mental stress and lack of immunity.

The exact cause of IBS is unknown. The most common theory is that IBS is a disorder of the interaction between the brain and the gastrointestinal tract (GI-Tract), although there may also be abnormalities in the gut flora or the immune system. This condition typically occurs in young adults, especially women. However, symptoms may wax and wane for life.

In Ayurvedic medicine, it is believed that there are three kinds of “doshas” that are attached to the body and they determine whether one is healthy or not. An imbalance in the “doshas” results in health problems, including IBS and other health conditions. Ayurvedic medicines are very useful in managing the symptoms of IBS.

1. For patients with IBS-C medicines like Kaidaryadi tablet, Ojus tablet, Arogya Vardhini, Shankh Vati, Sanjeevani Vati, Lashunadi Vati and Gandharva Haritaki are extremely useful.

2. For those with IBS-D medicines like Kalasakhadi qwath, Hinguvachadi churna, Kutaj Ghan Vati, Laghu Sutshekhar, Sunthi, Musta, Bilva Avaleha, Panchamrut Parpati, and Bilva are used.

3. Those having mainly indigestion, loss of appetite and abdominal bloating benefit with medicines like Pippalyasavam, Chiruvilwadi qwath tablet,Chitrakadi Vati, Aampachakadi Vati, and Panchakolasav.

4. Medicines containing Kuchila like Agnitundi Rasa and Vishtinduk Vati are useful in improving the overall functioning of the intestines. These also improve the communication between the brain and the intestinal tract, which is believed to be faulty in IBS.

5. Medicines like Brahmi, Jatamansi, Jayphal, Aswagandha and Sarpagandha are used to reduce stress.

6. Triphala capsules: Because of its high nutritional value, triphala uniquely cleanses and detoxifies at the deepest organic levels without depleting the body’s reserves.

7. Ginger (zingiber officinale): In India ginger has been used to aid digestion and treat upset stomach as well as nausea for more than 5000 yrs. This herb is also thought to reduce inflammation.

8. Amla (Indian gooseberry): Amla is the richest natural source of vitamin c. It prevents indigestion and controls acidity. It is one of the supplements used in hyperacidity and liver disorders.

Effective Hemorrhoid Natural Cure and Treatment Methods

Hemorrhoids or otherwise called piles, are present in the veins of the anus and rectum area that gets distended and inflamed. However, it is curable and there are few natural treatments to reduce the seriousness of hemorrhoids.

The natural remedy methods :

Fiber rich diet :

2 Taking fiber-rich diets with water helps make a softer stool. Start to eat foods with high fiber content such as whole grains and veggies. Another fiber rich powder supplement, Psyllium, is a cheap and widely available treatment. A touch of Psyllium, one small spoon of the husks in water and having one glass of water can be quite efficient.

3 The subsequent important ingredient to be taken is flax seed. Irrespective of the source of fiber, the most significant aspect not to forget while taking any fiber rich content is to drink adequate water or it will worsen the constipation. Taking massive quantities of water helps to pass the stool without any irritation and ease.

Diet Supplements : Another Natural Source

4 Natural cure consists of taking dietary additions to treat and prevent any complications of hemorrhoids. Natural botanicals like Hem-eez, Horse-chestnut, Bioflavonoid and Butchers Broom are regarded as very useful in reducing the pain and in the handling of hemorrhoids.

5 Extract of Butcher’s Broom that contains ruscogenins which has got anti inflammatory and vasoconstrictor effects help to strengthen veins and tightens it. This natural diet is traditionally used to treat venous problems such as hemorrhoids and varicose veins.

6 Horse-chestnut extract contains a compound saponin, aka aescin, which has got anti-inflammatory, venotonic and anti-edema actions. This compound, Aescin, helps to strengthen the tone in vein walls to support the structure of the vein. This is proved and found out to be helpful in relieving the discomfort and swelling with persistent venous insufficiency by double blind studies.

7 Bioflavonoids, one of the natural plant compounds are found to stabilize and reinforce blood vessel walls, which helps to decrease inflammation. Studies also found that this compound helps to reduce anal discomfort and anal discharge during a grim hemorrhoid attack.

8 Flavonoids, the natural compound found in citrus fruits, diosmin and herperidin are terribly favourable in the treatment of hemorrhoids. Through research it is found that Daflon, a citrus fruit compound reduces symptoms of agony, bleeding and heaviness during discharge in pregnant women by day four of taking it.

9 Witch Hazel Cream : A drug available over the counter is prepared from the bark and leaves of Hamamelis virginiana. Witch Hazel is applied in the outside area of anal in the shape of a liquid, ointment or through medicated pads. This acts as astringent and helps in reducing the pain, itching and swelling of hemorrhoids.

Another natural treatment is in form of Amoils hemorrhoids serum treatment. It includes natural herbs and minerals and topically applied to get healed from hemorrhoids. Assorted tests have showed clearly that Amoils relieves the agony and stops recurrence of hemorrhoids due to its herbal compounds. With the consult of a doctor and if it’s’s revealed that applying serum is not adverse for treatment of hemorrhoids, one can take this Amoils which proves to be really efficient.

Natural Supplements Like Poga Moonga Juice – The New High Blood Pressure Cure All?

After taking prescription drugs and never getting any positive results or anything I considered beneficial, I started taking “natural” supplements to try to find something that was really beneficial. For years I’ve tried probably every new supplement that has come out and there seemed to be a new one every month or so. They were all much more effective and beneficial than any drug company drug I have ever tried. I could actually feel the difference from when I started taking them, unlike the drug companies stuff.

Like most people, I had some problems with my health, like high blood pressure and uncontrollable cholesterol levels. High blood pressure and unhealthy cholesterol levels could come from stress and lack of antioxidants. Antioxidants help remove plaque build up in your arteries, regulate your cholesterol and help in the prevention of cancer, heart attacks and strokes. Then I saw pomegranate juice has a super-antioxidant much more powerful than the antioxidants found in red wine.

After taking pomegranate juice every day for one month, my doctor told me my blood pressure had lowered and my cholesterol was at a healthy level. Both have been out of control for years. After doing a lot of research I found out that there are two types of cholesterol. HDL, which is the good cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, which is the bad cholesterol. When too much LDL cholesterol circulates in the blood, it can slowly build up in the inner walls of the arteries that feed the heart and brain. LDL cholesterol together with other substances can form plaque, a thick, hard deposit that can narrow the arteries and make them less flexible. If a clot forms and blocks a narrowed artery, heart attack or stroke can result.

Triglyceride is a form of fat made in the body. People with high triglycerides often have a high total cholesterol level, including a high LDL cholesterol (bad) level and a low HDL (good) level. Many people with heart disease and/or diabetes also have high triglyceride and LDL levels. Because LDL cholesterol appears to be harmless until oxidized by free radicals, it is presumed that ingesting antioxidants and minimizing free radical exposure may reduce LDL cholesterol, thus lowering the risk of strokes and heart attacks. Antioxidants help control free radicals and LDL cholesterol from forming clots in the arteries.

Oatmeal and bran contain soluble fiber, which also reduce your low-density lipoprotein (LDL cholesterol). Soluble fiber is also found in such foods as kidney beans, Brussels sprouts, apples, pears, barley and prunes. Walnuts and almonds can significantly reduce LDL cholesterol. Rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, walnuts also help keep blood vessels healthy and elastic. Almonds appear to have a similar effect, resulting in a marked improvement within just four weeks. Fish can also reduce LDL cholesterol. Studies in the 1970s showed that Eskimos had a lower rate of heart disease than did other individuals living in Greenland.

Their low LDL cholesterol was due to Eskimos eating less saturated fat and more omega-3 fatty acids found in fish, whale and seal meat. Research since that time has supported the heart-healthy benefits of eating fish can lower LDL cholesterol. Other good sources of omega-3 fatty acids include flaxseed, walnuts, canola oil and soybean oil. Omega-3 fatty acids are noted for their triglyceride-lowering effect, which also results in lowering LDL cholesterol. HDL Cholesterol is the “good” cholesterol, which helps clean your arteries by carrying away excess cholesterol. Healthy levels of cholesterol are needed to produce cell membrane and certain hormones. It also plays an important part in other bodily functions.

LDL Cholesterol can be very harmful to your body and cause a number of illnesses like heart disease and stroke. HDL cholesterols main purpose is to keep the bad cholesterol in your body under control. Cholesterol is a soft, waxy substance found in fats circulating in your blood stream in all of your body’s cells. You can get cholesterol two ways. Your body naturally makes some and you can also get it from meat, poultry, fish, eggs, butter, cheese, and whole and 2% milk. Cholesterol is not found in foods from plants but moringa contains protein and calcium, which is found in milk and yogurt. When HDL cholesterol levels decrease, the bad cholesterol can get out of control and cause illness, diseases and even death. You must maintain a healthy balance of bad (LDL) and good (HDL cholesterol).

Many people have problems controlling their cholesterol due to their busy lifestyle. So it’s hard to eat and drink enough of the food products we need to get the proper cholesterol, so many people turn to supplement. There are many other ways to increase the HDL cholesterol in your body. Any exercise that increases you heart rate (20 to 30 beats per minute), losing weight (if your overweight), stop smoking cigarettes, cut out the trans fatty acids (such as partially hydrogenated vegetable oils), alcohol (only one or two drinks a day), increase the monounsaturated fats in your diet (such as canola oil, avocado oil, or olive oil) and adding soluble fiber to your diet are all ways of increasing HDL cholesterol in your body.

But after trying a new natural supplement, which contains pomegranate juice and moringa I am totally off any medication for both my high blood pressure and my cholesterol. The natural antioxidants found in both moringa and pomegranate juice has changed my life for the better. There’s no better feeling than that of being able to control your high blood pressure and cholesterol, without being hooked on pharmaceutical drugs. Do yourself a favor and do some research on moringa and pomegranate juice and see the truth about how you can control your high blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

PVCs and Heart Palpitations: Your Best Options to Stop Suffering

A few months ago I started to suffer from severe PVCs (Premature Ventricular Contractions – commonly referred to as heart palpitations), as well as from some angina symptoms: I soon become almost incapable of living a normal life; after only a few quick steps, I would feel my heart ‘skipping beats’ heavily or beating furiously fast and irregularly and, at times, disabling chest tightness. I was very confused and scared at first but then, after suffering ‘in silence’, I decided to see different cardiologists and cardio surgeons and, of course, underwent several tests. One of the 3 cardiologists (probably the better one) prescribed beta blockers for me and, after that, further tests.

On my way home from the most uncomfortable test ever, I decided that I was going to give ‘natural supplements’ a try. I was shocked at how quickly my condition improved. I am going to keep you informed not only about what I did and am doing, but also about what my progress is like, with updates.

What are PVCs? PVCs are, briefly put, irregular heart beats which make you feel as if your heart is ‘skipping a beat’ or beating too many times (feeling the ‘extra systoles’ in your heart beat, for example); this is not a pleasant feeling at all and can make you faint or feel very anxious or even scared. If, on top of that, you also have some chest tightness (as in my case), you may well feel as if you are about to have a heart attack or to pass out. I would find myself in the middle of a store suddenly needing to stop and sit anywhere hoping that the ‘heart palpitations’ would subside and, at times, my chest tightness too. It was awful. I also became very irritable and anxious, as a consequence of my physical condition.

I will go into the detail of the condition if you want, but essentially anybody who suffers from PVCs (sometimes referred to as heart palpitations, rightly or wrongly) will know what I’m talking about.

The cause of PVcs is different from person to person. It could be trauma, stress, a metabolic problem, some nutrient/s deficiency, occasionally even a hormone-based cause. It could also be due to some ‘blockage’ inside or hardening of the arteries, even the peripheral ones (not the ones inside or just outside your heart, very simply put). For this reason, the best approach is to undergo enough tests to rule out potential blockages of even one artery, or just to make sure they have not hardened too much (again, very basically put). Your cholesterol and your blood pressure should also be checked thoroughly, to make sure there are not further problems in your cardiovascular system. In any case, if you speak to a cardiologist he/she will know what’s necessary to rule out a physical reason which could be potentially dangerous. The tests usually range from a simple Echo Cardiogram to Echo Stress Tests (ways to ‘view’ the heart and its functions whilst in a ‘stressful’ situation, namely beating much faster than usually), to an actual angiogram (a more invasive procedure for which you may have to stay in hospital for one day). Sometimes a radiation-based-test is indicated, although I chose avoid such (relatively) high radiation tests (very recent studies cautioned against nonchalantly carrying out these tests and recommended them only if absolutely necessary); again, it all depends on the seriousness of your condition and, above all, if a much deeper study of your cardiovascular system and your heart function is necessary; the choice is yours and, of course, listen to what your 2 or 3 cardiologists recommend in your case. If you do what I did, you will not stop at the first cardiologist and will seek more than one opinion until you feel you know all there is to know about your condition and all the options you have to treat it.

Assuming your tests show nothing serious at physical level as mentioned above, you are going to be offered a small number of options, typically:

1 – Do nothing since your PVCs are ‘benign’, potentially only consuming (letting it dissolve in your mouth, for example) a ‘baby’ aspirin daily (from 75mg to 100mg per day) to improve blood flow

2 – The use of beta-blockers or similar drugs; beta blockers slow down your heart beat (often with the consequence of diminishing PVCs). They are quite useful and commonly regarded as safe. I found them useful but did not want to deal with the minor weight gain nor with having to check my heart beat often, to prevent it from being too slow. Nitroglycerin-type drugs ‘widen’ your arteries and veins, thus improving blood flow and, if you don’t want pills, you can opt for a skin patch; very useful against angina but, in my case, my PVCs became instantly much, much worse and I literally thought I was on the verge of death. Of course, we are all slightly different in the specifics of our heart condition, so monitoring how your body reacts to each or any medication is key. I quickly chose to research if there were alternative, natural supplements and, today, I feel this is the best path for me. I explain this on my article (link below).

3 – In very serious cases, heart ablation is considered. This is a surgical procedure which ‘burns’ the section of the heart where the extra systole is taking place (or the ‘faulty’ heart beat). As I was waiting for my many tests at various hospitals, I talked to few sufferers who had already undergone heart ablation once, and were scheduled to have a second surgery! I was not impressed (but of course you cannot rule it out unless you cardiologist thinks it’s OK to do so – in my case 2 out of 3 thought heart ablation was not in my immediate future and that other options should be tried first).

Shingles Natural Treatment – Natural Alternatives to Prescription Drugs and the New Shingles Vaccine

Virus Basics for Shingles Natural Treatment

All living organisms play host to viruses, even including bacteria. It is a certainty that you will be affected by multiple kinds of viruses throughout your lifetime. The most prevalent human viruses will show up as the common cold, flu, cold sores, chickenpox, and shingles. Less common, and more deadly, viruses are blamed for such diseases as ebola, AIDS, bird flu, SARS, and hepatitis.

Scientists are also suspicious of viruses that are associated with multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, neurological diseases, cancer, and many more. Finding the best natural shingles treatment for you depends on knowing about the basic interactions between you and your virus.

One of those interactions comes from your childhood chickenpox virus when it breaks out into a shingles later in life.

Main Factors That Influence Infections

Your body is one of the main determining factors for whether you will suffer from shingles or any other viral disease. You are exposed to viruses on a daily basis, and most of the time your immune system or other defense mechanisms help you resist infections. Otherwise, you would be sick all of the time.

Another main factor for infection is the type of virus and its response to your defenses. Shingles, for example, is caused by the chickenpox virus that has infected millions of people. Out of all of the people who have had chickenpox, only about 1-3 per thousand healthy individuals under 65 years old will get shingles. This number goes up to as high as 12 per thousand for those older than 65. Such survey data just mean that the vast majority of people who have been exposed to the virus do not develop symptoms, due to the combination of their bodies’ defenses and to the response of the virus to them.

Your best strategies for fighting viral infections must be based on whatever you can do to help your own defenses and whatever you can do to address the behavior of the virus itself. Antiviral prescription drugs have side effects resulting from their suppression of the immune system, which undermines your defenses. The new shingles vaccine, Zostavax, is only approved for people over 60 years old, because clinical experiments focused only on this group. Even so, it is only effective for about half of the people who are injected with it.

Even though Zostavax has been approved in Europe as well as in the U.S., it is not widely used in such places as the U.K. even though it is licensed there. This caution is based on the long-term unknowns, the interactions with other drugs and vaccines (esp. the chickenpox vaccine) and worries about affects on those with already weakened immune systems.

Cautions About Zostavax

Follow-up studies are in progress. The long-term effectiveness and potential complications of Zostavax are unknown At this time it is not recommended for women who are pregnant, people with active untreated tuberculosis, or those with weakened immune systems. It is also not recommended for anyone who has had a life-threatening allergic reaction to gelatin or to the antibiotic neomycin, which are components of the vaccine formula.

Focus on Herpes Viruses

The chickenpox and shingles virus is known scientifically as Herpes zoster (or Varicella zoster), which means it shares many characteristics with all of the members of the herpes family of viruses. The same antiviral drugs are prescribed for shingles, cold sores, genital herpes, and Kaposi’s sarcoma because they are all herpes viruses.

Herpes viruses target the same kinds of tissues (skin and nerve), although in different parts of the body. They also have the same basic appearance and genetic composition and respond to drugs and natural treatments the same way. This just means that a successful remedy against one type of herpes infection has a good chance of being successful against other types.

Natural Antivirals for Shingles Treatment

Scientific literature over the past century reveals thousands of plant natural products that have antiviral activity. This is to be expected, since plants have their own viruses to deal with. Nevertheless, plant viruses and human viruses have much in common, so hundreds of the antivirals that plants make in their own defense also inhibit human viruses.

Most of the research-level results are not practical at this time because the majority of antiviral plant compounds are not yet available in herbal formulas. However, a few herbs that show positive clinical results against shingles have been available for several years.

The classic herb against shingles is lemon balm (Melissa officinalis), which produces an oil that has anti-herpes activity for topical use as well as for internal use. It is an ingredient in several formulas, sometimes by itself and often with other oil-producing herbs. Recent research in cell cultures shows that lemon balm can overcome herpes infection in cells that have become resistant to prescription antiviral drugs.

The newest herb, and maybe the best one, against herpes is the creosote bush (Larrea tridentata). It is also available in a lotion for topical application as well as in a capsule for internal use. The active ingredients in the creosote bush have general activity against several types of herpes infections as well as activity against HIV and several other types of viruses. This herb is definitely a rising star in the realm of antivirals from plants.

What About Shingles Pain?

The pain of a rash, which can sometimes last weeks or months after an outbreak has already subsided (i.e., “post-herpetic neuralgia”), responds very well to a paste of red pepper powder or to creams containing its main active ingredient, capsaicin. Capsaicin is well-known for blocking pain signals between nerves just under the skin. The only drawback to applying capsaicin-containing formulas is that it makes the burning sensation worse if the skin has been broken or is still has open blisters.

Medical researchers are finding out a lot about capsaicin vs. shingles pain. More than 70 research articles have appeared on this topic since 2002 in PubMed, the U.S. government’s medical database.

Superslow HIT Training for Fast Muscle Gains!

Arthur Jones, inventor of the famous Nautilus Machines, was also responsible for the popularity of HIT, High Intensity Training during the 70’s. He organized the Colorado Experiment to demonstrate the effectiveness of this form of bodybuilding, training Casey Viator in this protocol using Nautilus Machines exclusively. Arthur Jones himself went through his own program, gaining substantial muscle in the process.

An offshoot of Arthur Jones’ Nautilus High Intensity Training, Superslow was developed by a former associate of Mr. Jones’, Ken Hutchins. Afterward, he opened a chain of gyms where specially certified instructors would train clients using this protocol exclusively. While popular for a number of years, interest in this method waned eventually, which is true for HIT training in general. In recent years, due to extensive testing and scientific proof of HIT’s effectiveness if performed properly, there is a renewed interest in this method of training.

Superslow is based on a slow exercise cadence which places additional tension on the muscle(s) and is safer because all swinging and momentum is eliminated, decreasing stress on ligaments, joints and muscles. This is true if momentum is eliminated from faster cadence routines as well.

Initially, the rep cadence was 10/10; a ten second positive and ten second negative. Through trial and error, it was determined that a ten second negative “allowed” the muscle to rest, which is unacceptable. The cadence which offers the best focus on the muscle while working the negative was determined to be 10/4. Due to the use of 14-second reps, it becomes necessary to reduce the rep count to 4 or 5 to keep the time under tension appropriate for the muscle being trained. If we typically train our biceps with a tut of 60 seconds because of a mixed fiber makeup, using a rep cadence of 2/4 and 10 reps, we need to change the parameters to 10/4 with a rep count of 4 or 5 at most to keep in our range of 60-70 seconds.

Changing rep speed and count

This brings us to a point where we can become very creative with our rep count and speed. To change things up try using a rep cadence of 8/4, which changes the rep to 12 seconds each. To hit our goal of 60-70 seconds tut, we need to change the rep count to 5-6. Change the rep cadence to another scheme and alter your rep count to maintain the desired tut. I realize that I have drifted from the original focus of this article a little but I want you to see how easy it is to improvise the Superslow technique from its original parameters to shock your muscles into new growth by being creative with your training.

During the performance of the sets, use a rep cadence of 10/4, a 10-second positive, or raising of the weight and a 4-second negative, or lowering.

An arm routine using this method is as follows:

•machine curls-1×5

•dumbbell concentration curls-1×5

•close-grip pull-downs with palms facing-1×5

•triceps kickbacks-1×5

•lying triceps extensions-1×5

•bar dips-1×5

•grip squeezes with multi-grip device-1×15

Special note: Since each rep is going to take 14 seconds, to achieve a total time under tension of no more than 70 seconds, five reps are recommended. During each set never allow your muscles to rest. Make the entire set one continuous movement except for the top where you should contract the muscle as hard as you can for one second before lowering the weight. Do not rest between exercises.

It is very important to push all sets to complete exhaustion due to the low set count. Otherwise you will not have ample work for the muscles to grow. Strive to increase the weight used on all exercises each training session. If you are an advanced bodybuilder add 1-2 forced reps at the end of one of the sets for each muscle every other workout.

Since grip squeezes are much shorter in length, a higher rep count is used to increase the time under tension. In all exercises use a weight that is 65-70% of what you normally use in each exercise.

While there are many different techniques, or variables, that can be employed to increase the effectiveness of bodybuilding training, Superslow definitely increases inroading of the muscle. I recommend rotating this technique with other HIT variables for a complete program. Give this system a try and I think you’ll agree it is a very effective HIT variable.

Staging Breast Cancer

Knowing the stage of your breast cancer helps your medical team determine how big the cancer is and if it has spread. This helps them guide your therapy and provide reliable prognostic information.

In general, staging is done following your surgery, either after lumpectomy or mastectomy. It usually includes evaluation of the lymph nodes in your armpit (axillary lymph nodes), and possibly other radiology tests and blood work.

All breast cancers are staged using a system defined by the American Joint Committee on Cancer based on the “TNM system.” TNM refers to tumor size (T), number of lymph nodes involved (N), and whether your cancer has metastasized (or spread) to other parts of your body (M). The newest edition was released in late 2009 and took effect Jan 1, 2010.

The following is an overview of the updated TNM staging system for breast cancer. Interestingly, due to the increased use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, recommendations are now also given for staging of patients who have undergone such therapy. I have tried to highlight some of the more major changes in the 2009 edition, but there are many smaller changes that are beyond the scope of this article.

T: The size of the cancer.

Tx: The primary tumor size cannot be assessed

T0: No cancer is present.

Tis: Non-invasive cancer, also known as carcinoma in situ, is present (DCIS or LCIS or Paget’s disease alone).

T1: Invasive cancer measuring 2 centimeters or smaller is present. This is further sub-divided into four groups:

Tmic: microinvasive cancer, meaning the invasive cancer is 1 millimeter or smaller.

T1a: the invasive cancer measures greater than 1 millimeter but not greater than 5 millimeters.

T1b: the invasive cancer measures greater than 5 millimeters but not greater than 1 centimeter.

T1c: the invasive cancer measures greater than 1 centimeter but not greater than 2 centimeters.

T2: Invasive cancer is present, measuring greater than 2 centimeters but not greater than 5 centimeters.

T3: Invasive cancer is present, measuring greater than 5 centimeters.

T4: Invasive cancer is invading the chest wall or skin; also includes inflammatory cancer. In the 2009 edition, the diagnosis of inflammatory carcinoma is more clearly defined and the finding of carcinoma merely invading the dermis of the skin alone was not felt to represent T4 disease.

N: The number of lymph nodes involved by cancer.

Nx: Lymph nodes cannot be assessed.

N0: No cancer found in lymph nodes. In 2002 and again in the 2009 edition, an addition was made for the diagnosis of isolated tumor cells (ITCs) but changes to the definition were added in 2009 as well as an addition for findings by molecular studies:

N0(i+): Cells found in the lymph node measuring 0.2 millimeters or less, found either on routine pathology or using immunohistochemistry. In 2009, the following addition was made: if more than 200 cancer cells are found in a particular node, that node should be classified as a micrometastasis (N1mic) not isolated tumor cells.

N0(mol+): Positive molecular findings using RT-PCR but negative nodes histologically or by immunohistochemistry.

N1: Cancer is present in 1-3 lymph nodes in the armpit area (also known as axillary lymph nodes).

N1mic: The cancer present in the lymph node measures greater than 0.2 millimeters but not greater than 2 millimeters. This is also known as a micrometastasis.

N2: Cancer is present in 4-9 axillary lymph nodes.

N3: Cancer is present in 10 or more axillary lymph nodes.

M: The presence or absence of distant metastases.

M0: No distant metastases are present. In the 2009 edition, a category of M0(i+) was defined for patients without evidence of distant metastases by clinical or imaging studies, but molecular studies identify foci of carcinoma in blood, bone marrow, or other body site which are no larger than 0.2 mm.

M1: Distant metastases are present.

Once you know your T, N, and M status, you can determine your breast cancer stage as follows based upon the new guidelines:

Stage 0: Tis, N0, M0

Stage IA: T1, N0, M0

Stage IB: T0/T1 with N1mic, M0

Stage IIA: T0/T1 with N1, M0 or T2, N0, M0

Stage IIB: T2, N1, M0 or T3, N0, M0

Stage IIIA: T0/T1/T2 with N2, M0 or T3 with N1 or N2 and M0

Stage IIIB: T4 with N0/N1/N2 and M0

Stage IIIC: Any T with N3 and M0

Stage IV: Any T with any N with M1

How to Sense Low Levels of Asbestos in Your Daily Environment

My discovery came to me by accidentally removing an asbestos

material in my home. The resulting condition of the whole house

after this accident left me with a sore chest, dry and unbearably iching skin and eyes. My wife complained of extreme thirst and my oldest son, age 14, developed severe asthma. This

all continued for five to six months. During this time I tried

desparately to determine if we were living in an unsafe level of asbestos. The material that I had removed was tested and found to

contain 20% crysitile asbestos. Air sampling proved to be unreliable because the area had been ventilated so well. But the furnishings, carpets, walls and all other personal belongings

were covered the remnants of the demolition.Everyone wanted to play down the seriousness of the situation, but, to me it was

obviously not a healthy environment.

So, I set out to try to logically deduce, with a knowledge of the physical properties of asbestos, when I encountered the substance as I attempted to clean every surface and item in every room of the house.

That was fifteen years ago. During that time, as I learned

more about where we all encounter asbestos materials on a daily basis. I made mental notes concerning my and others’ reactions

to these encounters. Many situations have arisen ranging from

sore throats and skin conditions(acne and basil cell skin cancer) to asthma, pneumonia and death. I don’t have clinical

proof of these claims I’ve made, except to say “if it looks, walks and sounds like a duck it probably is a duck”. Many times clinical trials are verified by producing the same results in subsequent testing. Deductive reasoning can also be verified

in the same way. If the same results are observed again and again after low level exposure to these remnants then that is

proof to me.

Without writing a book, I wouldn’t have the space to detail every observation I’ve made during this period, but I can assure you that no contact with asbestos is without a possible adverse health consequence.

Asbestos is a very lightweight chrystal-like material with highly static electrical properties. It often produces a static

discharge like when one is shocked by touching the metal switch plate or door knob in their home. It often leaves a bitter-salty taste in your mouth. It can stay airborne for days at a time. It absorbs moisture and produces a very dry environment (which only makes the static electric situation worse.)

The loose material may be accidentally contacted in a number of

building types and situations.

Many buildings built before 1977 have vinyl asbestos floor tile. No one can avoid walking on this, if they enter the building. This is fine if the floor is well maintained. Look out for broken or worn and never waxed tile. This applies to any

location in the building, commercial or residential. Closets are

very seldom waxed. Items stored there will accumulate certain

amounts of this substance.

Anytime an older building is renovated the possibility exists

for a number of materials containing asbestos to be encountered.

The contractor does’t always do the right thing. In many instances it is cheaper to pay the fine if he is caught. So he just tears it out and throws it in the dumpster or hauls it to the dump himself. As a consequence, many newly renovated stores

have a certain amount of this dust on the shelves and new merchandise in the store.

There are many more instances of contact for which I don’t have the time to detail here, but basically, with the characteristics of the material, knowledge of where you may encounter the substance and many hours of observation (I’ve been in construction over thirty years), you too can make the same

deductive conclutions that I have made.

In subsequent articles I intend to go into detail on the unique physical properties of asbestos and how this promotes detection in your hair and clothes. In future articles I would also like to expand on the many other health effects I’ve noticed, such as acne, which could benefit many young adults and a number of people who continue with this complexion problem into adulthood.

49 Signs Of A Cheating Partner – Read These Red Flags Now And Know If Your Partner Is A Cheater

Lately things just aren’t the same with your partner. Something seems off, and you can’t help but wonder if there’s somebody else. Suspecting your partner of cheating can be tricky. The possibility terrifies you, but you’re also afraid of being wrong and looking like a fool who has trust issues. In a situation like this, it is wise to tread carefully.

Make sure that there are legitimate reasons for suspecting your partner, and that it’s not just your insecurity that is skewing your point of view. If you do have an overwhelming feeling that there may be infidelity in your relationship then read on for common signs of cheating, and compare them with your man or lady’s behavior.

1. Change In long held beliefs: You observe a shift in your partner’s attitude about relationships or love. It may be that your man used to condemn husbands who cheat on their wives and had strong opinions about infidelity. Suddenly, they seem more lenient with their thinking.

Maybe you’re watching TV together one night and there’s news of a celebrity couple breaking up because the man cheated. You are appalled, but he might shrug and say something like “Well, if she stopped having sex with him what do you expect?”

Pay attention to changes in long held beliefs that your partner had, he or she may be altering their view to accommodate their new thinking or behavior.

2. Trading in khakis for miniskirts: If you have known your partner for a while, then you might start noticing sudden changes in the way they dress or want to look. If your lady has always been very taken with her appearance, and she buys new clothes or changes her hair, it may not be a cause for alarm. However, if she used to dress like a frumpy grandmother to work and she’s suddenly wearing miniskirts and high heels, then you may have a problem.

3. Newfound body image issues: A sudden and unjustified change in body image is another major infidelity sign. If your partner has taken the decision to be thinner or more muscular for health reasons or has always been fit there’s probably no reason to doubt anything.

However, if your couch potato husband is not really concerned with his health, but suddenly starts spending hours in the gym because he is now obsessed with getting rid of his belly fat, then take a closer look. Also, if he refuses that you accompany him to the gym, or is presenting otherwise sketchy behavior regarding his body, he may be straying.

4. I want to be alone: Your partner suddenly wants to spend a lot of time on their own. The need for space is a major sign that something is going on especially if this request comes out of nowhere and with no valid explanation.

If you two had a fight and he or she is still resentful, then the need for space can be somewhat understood. However, if your relationship is stable and things are going great, and your partner suddenly wants to be alone, there might be someone else filling that void.

5. Picking fights: The man or woman in your life might also not only demand more space but do everything possible to create more of it. He or she might pick fights for no reason, and may make an issue of every little thing to create an illusion that you’re not getting along.

They do this to legitimize their wrongdoings and to feel less guilty. The way they figure is this; since you’re both always fighting, you are the unreasonable one and you are pushing them into another person’s arms.

6. Storming out of the house: On a related note, if your man or woman storms out after a “fight” because they just can’t take it anymore and say that they need some time to think, they may be using it as an opportunity to meet up with the other person. This technique has two major benefits.

First, it gives him or her more time on their own to cheat. Second, they can use the fights as a lever to gain the sympathy of the other person who they are cheating with. They want the other man or woman to stay in the deceitful relationship.

So they complain about their partner to demonstrate that they are being driven to cheat and so it isn’t their fault. So if every time you fight with your partner, he or she storms out there may be a good reason why.

7. Reverse psychology: When someone is cheating, he or she becomes a master manipulator. If you start noticing that your once earnest and direct partner is using reverse psychology and other weird techniques that they didn’t use before, then know that something is up. If he or she always makes it seem that you’re the one in the wrong no matter what happens. He or she may have something to hide.

8. On the defensive: If your man or lady has suddenly become overly defensive and can’t take any type of criticism, then you need to take a good look at what’s going on. If you ask him about a lady co-worker and he starts a fight, or he becomes furious after you ask him why he didn’t call if he was going to be late for dinner, there’s something there.

Ask your partner about it, maybe there’s a good reason for this newly found oversensitivity and short temper. A stressful work week or family problems may be to blame for this change in behavior.

9. Lying through their teeth: Cheating always involves lying. If you keep catching your partner in little lies, then something is up. If he said he was working late the night before at the office, then says that he was out with his boss having drinks another time, beware he may be cheating. If the little things he or she says just don’t add up, then ask them about it. If they avoid confronting the issue, you can be sure that there’s something going on that shouldn’t be.

10. Going the distance: If your partner is cheating, then he or she may deal by becoming more distant. He will avoid talking about serious subjects and only engage in small talk. He may avoid getting into conversations about your finances, work, and children if you have them or any future plans. He or she will always seem to have something on their mind and you can’t seem to connect with them on a deeper level like you used to.

11. Emotional detachment: Your partner might also disengage emotionally from your relationship. Your man used to be extremely affectionate and loving, but now you can’t get an “I love you” out of him. There might be something wrong. You’ll want to ask him why he has become emotionally detached.

He might be upset with you over something you did and is acting out, so talking about it is very important. If he just shrugs or refuses to even acknowledge his behavior or even blames you for being paranoid, something deeper might be festering under his aloof exterior and you need to be careful.

12. Loves being out alone, hates staying in with you: Does your partner seem upbeat when he or she gets home or when they are getting ready to go out, but seems gloomy while he or she is spending time with you? If you don’t have any problems in your relationship that may be causing this change in behavior, then it might be that your partner is excited about something going on outside the home, something like a juicy affair.

13. Affection overload: Some other cheaters act in an entirely different manner due to overwhelming feelings of guilt. They will shower their partners with affection, gifts and caring words. They might be even more romantic than usual and more attentive.

If this shift is sudden and you cannot find a logical or even an illogical explanation for it, then ask your partner what brought this on, they may be able to reassure you and give you a valid explanation. If you still can’t understand this behavior, it might be that your partner is cheating and using this as a decoy so you won’t suspect anything.

14. Chatter away: On a related note, if your usually silent partner suddenly becomes a chatterbox, then beware. Sometimes people who lie tend to over talk or give more information than was asked for to cover up other things. Observe this new behavior for a while, and bring it up to them if it bothers you.

15. Working a lot of overtime: One of the most obvious cheating signs is your partner keeps working overtime when this was never the case before. He or she suddenly becomes the most valuable and hardest working employee in their company.

This doesn’t always mean that your partner is cheating on you; there might be a special project that needs to be done before a certain deadline or it’s the end of the year and there’s a lot of work that needs to be done. However, if your partner seems to be the only one working overtime, and other employees don’t seem to know anything about it, then there might be something fishy going on.

16. Do not enter-work zone: If your partner used to involve you in his or her work life. Telling you all about work, inviting you to company events like picnics, having you over to meet them for lunch but suddenly starts cutting you off, something might not be right.

Maybe he or she doesn’t want you around their workplace because there’s someone they don’t want you to know about or there is something that they are hiding like all those extra projects they were working on late were fictional. If you do see any of your partner’s co-workers, they may act very uncomfortable in your presence. If there is no valid explanation for this, something might be going on behind your back.

17. Buddies no more: Similarly, if your man used to invite his buddies over for Sunday night football or Thursday night Basketball every week, and suddenly stops having them over, it may be because he is afraid that they will spill his secret or not corroborate his stories.

If he starts meeting with them outside more and more, he may also be using them as his alibi for getting out of the house. He may be keeping you apart from them because he’s afraid that they might accidently or intentionally divulge his secret.

18. Awkward friend situation: Also it may be that your man or lady’s friends keep avoiding you even though you all used to be very close. Your girlfriend or wife’s friends might do everything in their power to not see you because they can’t face you if they know of their friend’s cheating.

They might also be afraid of saying anything that would compromise your relationship and most people do not want to be a part of that. So they might avoid you all together so as not to find themselves in an awkward situation.

19. Bye Bye old interests: If your partner suddenly loses interest in activities which he used to love, then there might be something weird going on. If your man, out of the blue, starts to hate playing sports when he used to live and breathe soccer, or he stops spending his free time gardening on the weekends, then there might someone else in his life that is bringing on those changes.

20. Marriage blues: If you are married, and you notice that your husband or wife starts acting hostile or bored towards you, your children or your home life in general, there might be something fishy going on. He or she might start making references to how they misses being single or how hard it is to be married.

He or she might get rid of your children’s toys in the car or anything that demonstrates that they have a family. They may be cheating with someone and are lying to them about being married with children, and so they suddenly start rejecting their marital status.

21. Beware of the Lazy pants: If your spouse used to be active around the house doing laundry, feeding the kids, mowing the lawn, and suddenly starts becoming lazy and uncooperative, he or she may be feeling negatively towards the very notion of being married and sharing your home.

They don’t even want to try anymore, and this includes doing chores, planning family outings and vacations. They might not even want to attend important events such as holidays, anniversaries or birthday parties. This is especially suspicious if they never really had any issue with doing these things before.

22. Strange outings: Another sign that your partner may be straying is that he or she begins to go out to new places at strange times, and never has a convincing answer as to why this is. He used to hate food shopping, suddenly he insists on doing the weekly grocery shopping, and doesn’t want you to come along.

She used to deeply despise anything arty, and out of the blue, one Saturday has an outing to go to an art museum with friends. You know your partner inside and out, so if you notice changes in their favorite activities with no valid explanation, something is up.

23. Sneaking out like a teenager: If your partner is sneaking out, then he or she may have something to hide. The reason they may be going out behind your back is usually to avoid scrutinizing questions and wants to avoid lying to you. If he or she has nothing to hide then letting you know that they are on their way out shouldn’t be such a secretive matter, so beware of increased sneakiness and secrecy.

24. Is your partner an undercover agent?: You may find out that your partner has a new means of communication that you don’t know about. This includes a new e-mail address, a Facebook account under a pseudonym or nickname, a new cell phone and phone number. All of these are big red flags that you should immediately take notice of.

25. Financial infidelity: Another major sign of cheating is the odd use of money and/or credit cards. If you are used to sharing financial data between you and your partner, and he or she suddenly starts hiding credit card statements or disabling your access to an online checking account to hide cash withdrawals or other new spending habits, something weird is going on.

26. Is this my partner talking?: If your partner is having an affair, then he or she might start using different language than he used to. This includes telling more or less jokes, or using certain catch phrases. He or she may even adopt a certain way of talking or an accent that is inspired by someone else.

We tend to emulate people that we like and hang around with often. So if this is happening in your relationship, pay attention and ask your partner about it.

27. Your partner becomes jumpy and frazzled: Your man or lady might easily get disturbed or confused by mundane things. If you do something nice for him or her, they act strange. This is because they want to vilify you to justify their wrongdoing, and your nice behavior catches them off guard.

They might act disoriented and jumpy for no apparent reason. This can be a cheating sign because your partner is trying to sort out his or her feelings about your relationship but also the affair, and is likely to present erratic and unstable behavior as a result.

28. Country music anyone?: If your partner suddenly starts developing new taste in music or in food, then you might want to question him or her about it. It may be that they are dating someone who is fond of a certain cuisine or music, and they are beginning to take a liking to it. Developing new tastes out of the blue can be a revealing sign that your partner has found someone new to be devoted to.

29. What’s up with the Brazilian?: Another infidelity sign is a sudden change in personal hygiene and body grooming habits. If your man used to shower every morning and is suddenly taking several showers a day for no apparent reason, there might be something going on.

If your lady didn’t used to pay attention to her private parts being groomed, and begins getting Brazilian bikini waxes, she might be trying to impress someone else. He or she may also buy new underwear and use it, or may start putting on a lot of perfume or after shave. Pay attention to these little details if you suspect your partner of cheating.

30. Condoms away!: Another sign that there might be a sexual affair going is the increased use of contraceptive methods. Is she on the pill when you have gotten a vasectomy? Is he carrying out condoms when you are on the pill and haven’t used condoms since high school? If there is no valid explanation for this behavior, then this is a big red flag that your partner may be cheating.

31. Blue pill wonders: Another sign of cheating is that your partner is suddenly interested in purchasing medication for sexual performance. He may get erectile dysfunction medication such as Viagra. She might order breast enlargement herbal supplements or lubricant for herself. This is especially suspicious if it is done secretively through online ordering or he or she hides the objects once they arrive or takes them in secret.

32. The answer lies in clothes: There may be unexplained stains, smells or rips on your partner’s clothing. This may include the clichéd lipstick smudge on your man’s shirt, but also other types of stains and smells that just aren’t typical of your partner’s clothes. This can also lead to suddenly excessive laundry washing at weird hours of the day or night, unexplained purchasing of new clothes, or finding clothes in the trash can that your partner may have thrown away to hide evidence.

33. Knock knock, is anyone in there?: Your partner may be caught daydreaming or checked out at many times during the day, and doesn’t tell you what they’re thinking about and is unwilling to interact. He or she seems to be in another world, but denies it and can’t seem to be bothered to engage in activities with you. Your partner may just be absorbed by work or something else might be bothering them.

34. Are you more likely to reach President Obama on the phone than your partner?: Your partner suddenly becomes impossible to reach. When you call the office, they are always at a meeting or on another call with an important client. Their cell phone is turned off on more than one occasion, and the cell phone reception in their building is suddenly the “worst.” Your partner may not call you back right away, or claims to not have received your calls or listened to your messages.

Their assistant or receptionist is all of the sudden the most incompetent person on earth. In short, the fact that they have become inaccessible is everyone else’s fault but their own. All the flimsy excuses in the world cannot hide the fact that there is something sketchy going on in your partner’s life.

35. No, it’s mine!: With the advent of new technologies, there is a multitude of ways one can keep in touch with someone else. If you and your partner used to share phones and laptops, and keep them on in each other’s presence and this suddenly changes, there is a reason for that. You used to look at your man’s cell phone, read his text messages and he never even flinched.

All of the sudden, his phone has become so precious to him that he eve takes it into the bathroom. If you take a look at it, he accuses you of snooping. His laptop, which used to be your computer as well, suddenly has password protection. All of these are telltale signs that he might have something to hide.

36. Delete all: If he still allows you to touch or use his or her phone, or laptop, you find that he or she always makes sure that browser history and cookies are deleted, that their contact list is cleaned up, and incoming e-mails erased.

Maybe they’re just embarrassed of some pages they visited, but more likely, he or she may be hiding their online contact with a lover. Similarly, if his or her phone’s message list or call log is always empty, they just might be hiding something or someone from you. Look into this.

37. He or she becomes a night owl: Your partner might spend a lot of time on their computers especially late at night and after you go to bed. Sure, your man might be a porn addict, but he may also be contacting another woman.

On a related note, your partner might start talking more and more on their cell phones, and racking up huge bills. To sum it up, if there is a sudden, unexplained change in telephone or computer usage with your partner, there may be something strange going on.

38. Your opinion and advice don’t matter anymore: Another sign that your partner might be infidel is he or she stops seeking out your advice or your opinion about major decisions in their lives. They might make irresponsible big purchases or act impulsively without talking with you first. Maybe he went and spent all of his savings on a boat that you never knew about.

Maybe she decided to put up your house on the market without consulting you first. They may have quit their jobs and not even told you about it. This type of rash behavior is typical of a cheater who just doesn’t care about planning your future together anymore and doesn’t even care to ask what you think beforehand.

39. Your partner becomes a world champion nagger: A cheating partner may begin to constantly complain about you or your relationship and how unhappy he or she is. They may be overly critical of you, and suggest that things aren’t working out. He or she may pick more fights to prove this point and makes no effort to make things work. At this point, your partner may be having an affair but also thinking of ending your relationship.

Now, if you do have genuine problems between you that you are working on, then there is probably nothing to worry about. However, if everything is going fine in your relationship and you do get along; your partner may be fabricating a broken relationship to justify not only his or her cheating, but also their leaving.

40. Sex? No thanks: If your partner is cheating on you, he may suddenly lose interest in having sex with you. Even if he or she does, they’ll just go through the motions, with no shared feelings or emotions. If it’s there any sex at all, it becomes just physical. If your partner has always been a passionate lover and suddenly becomes detached or cold in lovemaking for no good reason, there may be somebody else.

41. Who are you and what have you done with my wife?: If on the other hand, your man or lady usually is usually more reserved and subdued in bed, and suddenly becomes an extremely attentive and passionate lover with exaggerated displays of affection, they may be overcompensating to deal with their feelings of guilt.

They may suggest you try new things in bed and become more adventurous. Ask them where they got this newfound fervor, and if there’s a valid explanation, then just enjoy. Otherwise stay alert. This change in sexual behavior might be a result of infidelity.

42. Extreme changes in feelings and behavior: Your partner may at times be very sexually engaged and at other times be completely withdrawn. Sometimes they shower you with affection, and other times they hardy want to talk to you and seem to avoid you.

Although, there may be good explanations for this type of unpredictable and erratic behavior, it is something to watch out for, especially if your partner used to be fairly consistent. It may be that they are cheating and are confused about their affair, thus taking out their mixed feelings on you.

43. He or she has become a complete downer: Has your partner been generally unsatisfied with their life lately even though they used to be happy? Is he or she much more negative than they used to be? This may be due to an exciting affair that they are having which has demonstrated to them how mundane their current life is. Have they become confused about their own sense of self? Maybe there is someone new in your partner’s life who is calling into question their identity and who they are.

44. Bungee jumping, here I come: On a related note, is your partner suddenly a thrill seeker when you could never even get them to go on a child’s water slide ride at your local amusement park? Does he suddenly want to get a motorcycle or a tattoo and signs up for mountain climbing classes? Of course, this might just be a mid-life crisis talking.

However, there’s always the possibility that there is someone else, perhaps somebody younger in your partner’s life that is instigating this transformation and inspiring this new attitude.

45. Low self-esteem: Another sign that your partner may be cheating is that he or she has increasingly low self esteem. This means that your partner is vulnerable and can fall prey to cheating because he or she cannot make themselves feel secure and worthy. If they believe that you are not providing them with enough approval or love and just aren’t getting satisfaction from their job, they might go to someone else from whom they can obtain the desired feelings of security and self worth.

Of course this doesn’t mean that if your partner cheats, this is your fault; your partner should have come to you first to resolve his or her issues, and low self esteem is no excuse for bad behavior.

46. Gonorrhea, herpes anyone?: A concrete sign that your partner may be straying is you have proof that they have contracted a sexually transmitted disease (STD) and it wasn’t from you. Maybe you got a call from your husband’s physician, or intercepted an email, or found lab results by mistake. You may even have seen the actual STD on your partner’s body.

If this is the case and he or she has only gotten the disease recently, then your partner is not only straying but might even have contaminated you. So get yourself checked. If you have also gotten the STD and you have not engaged in sexual relations with a new partner, then this only serves to confirm your suspicions that your partner has been cheating on you.

47. The “friend” you never got to meet: A tangible sign of cheating is that someone new suddenly starts taking up your partner’s time and attention. Whether it’s a co-worker, a gym partner, or a friend from way back, this person seems to come out of the blue and he or she starts coming up in conversations and in future plans all the time.

Your partner brings up this mysterious friend in random conversation and they always seem to be at the right place at the right time and at social gatherings you weren’t attending. Although it is healthy to seek out new friendships, it is a big red flag if your partner refuses to introduce you to this new friend and wants to keep him or her under wraps.

48. I’m a cheater? No you’re the cheater, you cheater: A telltale sign that your partner might be cheating is that they turn around and accuse you of straying when you have given them no reason to doubt you. Of course, there’s always the possibility that they’re just jealous or are feeling insecure in the relationship. However, if you have reassured them of your unconditional love and have done more than enough to placate their anxiety, and they’re still accusing you left and right, something is definitely wrong.

The reason they may be doing this if they’re cheating is to deflect attention from their own behavior. They may also genuinely believe that you’re cheating because they become paranoid and start imagining their own deceptive tactics everywhere. Don’t fall into this trap, and don’t start accusing them of cheating either, look out for other signs to be sure.

49. Follow your gut: The biggest sign that your partner may be cheating is that there is something deep inside of you that is making you doubt him or her in the first place. Think about it; you know your partner better than anyone. Their habits, actions and behaviors are hardwired into your brain, and so if you feel it in your gut that there’s something wrong, then follow your instincts. It might turn out to be true.

Homeopathic Remedies For High Cholesterol

If you have been diagnosed with a high cholesterol level, you are probably taking statin drugs as a regular course of medication. Ever consider taking natural remedies in place of or as a supplement to these drugs?

Lowering cholesterol levels through homeopathic remedies is not new in the field of medicine. The use of homeopathic drugs dates back thousands of years back when man first discovered the medicinal value of plants. Homeopathy comes from the Greek word Homeo, which means similar and patho, which means disease. Homeopathy treats similar diseases with proven herbal remedies.

Today there are numerous homeopathic remedies that are used in treating a high cholesterol level. Naturally extracted Omega-3 is used to promote HDL (or good cholesterol) in the body. Teas rich flavinoids have been prescribed as an alternative to high calorie shakes and sodas for patients with high cholesterol levels.

Homeopathic remedies are not only natural, they also have no side effects. They can be used in conjunction with prescription drugs without affecting the potency of the drugs.

Here are some remedies that have been proven to be beneficial in lowering your cholesterol level.
Policosanol. Extracts from sugar, rice bran and beeswax can significantly reduce LDL production in the body. Similarly, products derived from gum resin will cut production of Cholesterol in the liver
Plants. Polysterols from plants can inhibit cholesterol absorption in the intestines.

They also speed up the disposal of cholesterol in digestion Lemon.

Extracts from lemon rind can inhibit production of HMG-Co-enzyme A and helps to dissolve cholesterol gallstones. It has also remedial properties in ordinary respiratory diseases like bronchitis and sinusitis.

You can obtain small quantities of these extracts by preparing for each separately. Alternatively, you might want to take a single food supplement to save you all the trouble.

One of the world’s leading bioscientists came up with a food supplement that incorporates cholesterol lowering properties of homeopathic medicines into one pill. It is clinically proven to lower cholesterol and is 100% natural.

The end user benefits are

Lower levels of LDL or oxidized cholesterol
Higher levels of HDL
Lower levels of triglycerides

How To Prevent And Reverse Osteoporosis And Tooth Decay

Osteoporosis and tooth decay are an ever increasing and costly problem in western industrialized nations. Both of these conditions have a similar root cause that lies with the modern processed food diet and over consumption of refined sugars. Refined sugars are especially dangerous since they greatly increase acidity of the blood leading to the leeching of calcium from the bones and teeth. This eventually leads to dental caries and osteoporosis.

People are consuming massive amounts of hidden sugars in packaged and processed foods, sauces, condiments, soda’s, restaurants and countless other places that most would never consider and most fail to factor in when calculating their sugar intake.

Take a look at this quote from Familyeducation.com website;

“Every year the typical American consumes between 120 and 150 pounds of refined sugar. That translates to over one-third of a pound a day and 600-plus calories of teeth-rotting, health-destroying sweetness, sort of a contradiction in terms.”

Even if you don’t eat sweets, the amount of refined sugar you may be consuming would no doubt come as a surprise to many. Over two-thirds of the refined sugar used in this country is used in the manufacturing of processed foods. Since most people spend upwards of 90% of their food dollars on processed foods, the majority of what people are eating is loaded with processed, nutrient dead sugar.

Many are also not aware of the many hidden sources of sugar and thus calories that is hidden in rather innocuous foods either such as condiments, sauces, syrups and the like. Did you know that a tablespoon of ketchup contains a full teaspoon of sugar? Other items such as breads, soups, cereals, cured meats, hot dogs, lunch meats, salad dressings, spaghetti sauce, crackers, mayonnaise, peanut butter, pickles, frozen pizza, canned fruits and vegetables, tomato juice, and a host of other products all contain sugar. This doesn’t even take into account the obvious culprits like candies, cakes, ice cream, cookies, doughnuts, and soda pop.”

Refined sugars can include unrefined sugars in their natural state and refined sugars that have had their minerals removed, leaving just the pure white sugar in its place which is 99.9% pure sucrose. Others example of sugars include turbinado, sucrose, brown sugar, sucrose, maple sugar, maple syrup, molasses, fructose and high fructose corn syrup.

The great danger to the bones and teeth when consuming too much sugar occurs when the body leeches or steals calcium from the bones and teeth in order to neutralize the excess acid in the bloodstream. The body uses calcium because calcium is a base which neutralizes an acid. It’s this constant calcium leeching from bones and teeth that eventually leads to osteoporosis and tooth decay.

When it comes to tooth decay brushing is only half the battle. Most decay occurs from the inside out, not the outside in. Brushing takes care of the buildup of germs and bacteria that lead to plague on the outside of the teeth, but it does little to prevent internal destruction to the tooth dentin on the inside. It’s this increase in sugar consumption over the past several decades in modern industrialized nations that has caused the epidemic of osteoporosis and dental caries in recent decades. Did you know that drinking a just one 12oz can of soda contains so much sugar that if the body didn’t take emergency action to neutralize excess acid, you would die within two minutes from acidosis!

Fluoride is not the answer to cavities and actually does little to prevent them. In fact it may actually make cavities worse. Those who try and convince people that fluoride prevents cavities often point to studies in the 50’s that showed towns that fluoridated their water supplies showed a decrease in dental caries. But they fail to mention that nearly all towns in the US showed a decrease in dental caries during those same years, whether they fluoridated their water supply or not. This decrease was due to greater knowledge about the importance of brushing teeth, not because water supplies were being fluoridated.

This internal leeching is why when you go to the dentist you teeth may look fine on the outside but X-ray shows that you have a cavity or need a root canal because the leeching has been going on inside of the tooth for years.

One of the best ways to help prevent internal destruction of the teeth from acids that get under the gum line and through the pores of the teeth is with the use of a a sea salt water solution. Make it fairly strong which is approximately one level teaspoon of natural sea salt with minerals to four ounces of water give or take. Swish it around the mouth for 3-5 minutes once or twice a day. More if you currently have tooth pain as this will help to kill the germs and bacteria inside of the tooth that causing the pain.

Many other illnesses are also caused from excess bacteriological buildup in the teeth and under the gum line. This bacteria then gets into the bloodstream causing a general weakening of the immune system and since so many peoples systems are compromised due to the lack of nutrients, minerals, enzymes and living on fast, processed and energy dead foods today, these bacteria get into various organs and parts of the body and can cause real havoc and lead to serious disease, even heart disease and cancer. That is one reason that there is a known connection between heart disease and those with serious dental problems.

Another method similar to the sea salt swishing is something called “oil pulling” This is where you use a natural oil such as sesame seed, olive or neem seed oil and swish it around the mouth for 5-10 minutes or until the saliva dilutes it completely. The thicker oil then “pulls” the bacteria out from under the gum line and between the teeth greatly preventing and even helping to reverse decay. The sea salt will do the same things as I’ve had some teeth that were hurting but no longer do once I practiced these techniques.

Regular brushing and using one or both of these methods of removing bacteria from the teeth will go a long way to keeping your teeth as long as possible and even your entire life as nature truly intended when eating REAL foods that grow in from the ground, not found in a box, a bag or from a drive through window.

How to Reverse Tooth Decay

“Osteoporosis is a symptom of the aging process. As calcium in our body system leaches, our bones become brittle and weak. Taking only a calcium supplement cannot correct or stop this threatening and crippling disease because the body cannot assimilate and make use of the calcium without the presence of silica. Evidence suggests that, instead of affecting healing, supplemental mineral calcium, on the contrary, accelerates the leaching away of bone calcium and thus hastens the degenerative process of osteoporosis and similar diseases that affect the supportive and connective tissues in the human body.

For osteoporosis, silica can stop the pain and even restore the body’s self repair process. Osteoporosis symptoms attack women primarily after menopause but the degenerative process starts much earlier in their younger days. More women are dying of fractures caused by osteoporosis than of cancer of the breast, cervix, and uterus combined.

In osteoporosis, thinning of the bones occurs due to insufficient production of the surrounding protein medium in which calcium salts first deposit. A lack of calcium in the bone matrix leads to enlargement of canals and spaces in the bones, giving the bones a porous, thinned appearance. The weakened bone becomes fragile and may be broken by a minor injury. The bones may even fracture from normal pressure or stress. For purposes of remineralization of damaged bones, it is recommended that a sufficient silica supplement be taken daily. Bones are made up of mainly phosphorus, magnesium and calcium but they also contain silica. Silica is responsible for the depositing of minerals into the bones, especially calcium. It speeds up the healing of fractures and also reduces scarring at the site of a fracture.

More and more research evidence shows that through a transmutation process, silica is turned into calcium when it is needed. That is why some scientists refer to silica as a precursor of calcium. Even when calcium is insufficient, the body can turn silica into calcium that the bones need.”

To help reverse the tooth decay and bone loss that has occurred the horrid western sugar laden, nutrient EMPTY diets, start taking an herb known as “Horsetail” which contains a lot of silica. Bones are made up of mainly calcium, phosphorous and magnesium but they also contain silica, which is critical to bone re mineralization. Studies show that taking calcium supplements can actually INCREASE bone loss because without sufficient Silica the body can NOT make use of the extra calcium so it is useless and can even be dangerous.

Why have we NEVER heard this before….? Why doesn’t your doctor or dentist tell you to take silica instead of calcium…simply because they don’t WANT you to know about it. I started giving my 80 year mother silica (500mg a day for 4 weeks) and when she had her next bone density scan which was only 4 weeks after her starting the Silica, the doctors were shocked at her density increased by 30%. She had been on a steady decline while taking the useless “OSCAL” and other over the counter supplements.

In 1939, the Nobel Price winner for chemistry, Professor Adolf Butenant, proved that life cannot exist without Silica. According to his research in 1972, silica is an essential nutrient and must be supplied continuously from food sources. Silica plays an important role in many body functions and has a direct relationship to mineral absorption. The average human body holds approximately seven grams of silica, a quantity far exceeding the figures for other important minerals such as iron. Both iron and silica are body essential, meaning they are needed for carrying out ongoing metabolic work that is vital to life. Both elements must be continuously supplied.

Taking about 500mg to 1000mg of silica or horsetail a day you can actually begin to reverse bone loss but tooth decay. The better your overall health the better these techniques will work.

Walking Sticks From 1700 to 1800

Walking sticks were still seen as an implement of fashion from 1700 to 1800. However, we see the rise of the use of the gadget cane. Walking sticks also were used as political statements. Also, cane etiquette became generally accepted.

The sword cane, introduced in the 17th century, was still used by gentlemen in the 18th century. Carrying swords was no longer fashionable, but walking sticks were. Combining the sword and the walking stick answered the gentleman’s need for protection and the conventions of fashion. While the 18th century was considered “safer” than the 17th century, many gentlemen still felt it necessary to carry this fashionable weapon. In fact, the popularity of these sword canes peaked around the mid-18th century, but they were still used into Victorian times.

After the adoption of the sword cane, which is a kind of gadget cane, other gadget canes became popular, such as walking sticks outfitted with telescopes and pedometers. Additionally, physicians carried gadget canes in the 18th century, and although they were fashionable, they were also functional, serving as an inconspicuous way to carry medicine and tools. A physician carrying a physician’s bag was more likely to be recognized and harassed, as he was identified as an individual who carried drugs. Physicians also employed walking sticks as a preventative measure to contracting disease. The head of the cane contained potions and powders that could be inhaled and were believed to keep the doctor safe from disease. As they entered the rooms of the sick, they would bang the shafts on the ground to diffuse the compounds into the air. Additionally, these walking sticks could also contain flasks of liquor that the physician would partake of as another protective measure.

Austria and Hungary can lay claim to some gadget canes themselves. They developed a cane that carried a flute. They can also be given the credit for developing a walking stick that was made up of three adjustable sections. In the lowest section was a quill pen with ink and paper, in the second section a measuring rod, and in the third section a telescope.

Unique practices emerged because of the use of canes. For instance, in England, one had to procure a license to carry such an implement. Here is a sample of such a license:

You are hereby required to permit the bearer of this cane to pass and repass through the streets and suburbs of London, or any place within ten miles of it without let or molestation; provided that he does not walk with it under his arm, brandish it in the air, or hang it on a button; in which case it shall be forfeited; and I hereby declare it forfeited to anyone who shall think it safe to take it from him.

Signed………………………………… (Lester, Oerke, & Westerman, 2004)

Also in England, a group of young people imported some Italian fashions and started the “Macaroni Club” around 1772. Why “macaroni”? Macaroni was a little-known food in England at this time and young people called anything that was fashionable “macaroni”. Contrary to the name, the Macaroni Club was not a formal club; the name simply characterized those who wore a very high-combed hairstyle topped by a small hat that was raised with the cane. This walking stick was very long and decorated with wide silk neck scarves. This fashion ended with the French Revolution.

In other parts of the world, walking sticks were symbols of the political climate. In France, aside from changes in the cane shaft length (lengthening during the reigns of Louis XV and Louis XIV, and shortening again in the late 18th century), the revolution in France brought a sort of equality to all in relation to the cane, no longer only an implement for the nobility. After 1789, the bourgeois, along with the nobility, carry a walking stick and even salute each other with it. Also during this period, the cane as a political statement is used by the “Incroyables”, or those of particular stylish, “incredible” dress. They carried a twisted cane that was generally looked upon as an ugly stick. This walking stick was sometimes called “executive power”. Indeed, some of the Incroyables, who came be known as “Muscadins” because of their heavy musk perfume, organized into bands and prowled the streets, using these canes to harass revolutionary Jacobins.

Generally, during the 18th century walking sticks were in great demand. With canes almost universally popular, there became a universal cane etiquette that users of walking sticks adhered to. For example, one never carried a cane under the arm, and cane was never carried when visiting people of consequence. Also, one was not to use the cane to write in the dust, to lean on the walking stick when standing, or while walking to trail his walking stick (Lester, Oerke, & Westerman, 2004).

Essentially, walking sticks continued to be popular from 1700 to 1800. Not only were they a fashion accessory, but there was also a return to functionality. That is, canes were used not just to compliment attire, but as tools of convenience and political statements. Finally, canes played such a relevant role that an etiquette, or guidelines for their use, was developed.

It is attached to the skin. Your dog has a tick. You know you must get rid of it. Ticks can carry bacterial diseases such as the debilitating Lyme disease. You call your veterinarian. The veterinarian recommends Frontline Plus for dogs. You may wonder how this product works and how it will kill the tick.

Frontline and Frontline Plus can be used on dogs off all sizes and there is also a version for cats. Make sure you get the proper one for you pet. They come in distinctive colors on the packaging. It is safe to use to treat puppies and kittens as young as 8 weeks old. Lactating, breading, and pregnant dogs and cats can also be treated.

Frontline is manufactured by Merial. Merial also makes well known medicines to treat heartworm. They are a reputable company. Frontline is part of a newer type of insecticides called synthetic insecticides. They are known to be very effective. The type of insecticide used in Frontline is called an artheterocycles.

Fipronil is the most common ingredient in these synthetic insecticides. The artheterocycles prevent the passing of chlorine through cells in the nervous system of the insect. This results in the paralyzing of the tick. Paralysis means the tick is unable to move. The tick is unable feed. If they cannot feed on blood, they die. The fipronil in Frontline Plus will kill the ticks in their younger stages, like the nymph stage, as well as when they are adults.

In Frontline and Frontline Plus the fipronil is dispersed by the sebaceous oil glands. It becomes spread efficiently and relatively shortly throughout the fur of the pet. This will kill ticks quite effectively. It is reputed to kill all the ticks within 12 hours of treatment.

The treatment is applied by a supplied applicator to the base of the neck. It does not need to be spread manually all over the animal to kill the ticks. It is recommended to wear gloves. The tick does not have to be attached to feel its effects.

After treatment, you will want to check for dead but attached ticks. They may be removed using tweezers. Be careful to not crush the body and release any infected fluids onto yourself or the animal. Drop it and any ticks you suspect are still alive into rubbing alcohol to insure you have killed them.

Frontline Plus will continue to kill ticks for up to one month of application. You can then safely treat them again for another month of protection. This gives a pet owner piece of mind.

Liver Diseases Causes, Symptoms and Natural Remedies

Liver is the second largest organ in our body and its area of function is so wide that it contributes a major part in keeping a body fit and healthy. Mainly a digestive organ, it helps in carbohydrate and fat metabolism. It also improves the immunity system of the body and stores some vitamins and minerals. Care should be taken to maintain a healthy liver as a damaged liver can endanger the life.

Symptoms of liver diseases

1. Pain and tenderness in the abdomen

2. Severe itching on the skin where there is no infection

3. Diseases like jaundice, cholestatis followed by dark urine, pale colored stools, bone loss

4. Pain in the pancreas and the enlargement of the gall bladder

5. Loss of appetite, nausea and sometimes mild fever may result due to malfunctioning of the liver.

Cause: The most common reasons for the liver diseases are due to unhealthy life style and faulty eating habits. Infections by the Hepatitis virus A, B and C can cause serious types of liver diseases. Prolonged intake of drugs, alcohol and other toxic substances damage the liver cells leading to liver problems. Low immune system of the body can trigger certain liver diseases.

Natural Remedies

Liver diseases are alarming and life threatening if not controlled at the early stage or not treated properly. Treatments of liver diseases are generally done through natural processes as these are much more effective than the synthetic drugs.

1. Protein intake should be minimized in case of liver problems as the liver has to work more in digesting protein.

2. More carbohydrates must be included in the daily diet. Rice is ideal in this case. The diet should be balanced with respect to the calorie intake including fat soluble minerals and fatty acids.

3. Low sodium intake is advised in liver problems to prevent fluid retention.

4. Pomegranate is a rich source of vitamins and minerals. A glass of its juice every morning boosts the body immunity system.

5. Taking sugarcane juice in liver diseases is an excellent tonic as it strengthens the liver. The alkaline nature of the juice keeps the acid levels of the body low.

6. A concoction of pipal leaves (3-4 leaves) and sugar in a cup of water if taken twice daily helps in treating the liver disease.

7. Taking twice daily a mixture of papaya seeds with 10 drops of lemon juice is effective in liver diseases.

8. Chewing fennel seeds after the meals regularly is good for liver problems.

Liver being one of the most important organs of our body, it is always advisable to protect it by eating healthy and doing moderate exercises regularly. Consuming too much alcohol and eating spicy and junk foods produce toxins that affect the liver to a great extent.
